sure smells like an old grandma, but lets be honest, most Oud perfumes smell like that, or at least from my culture.

I do not have much to say, but for the price this perfumes insanely, type of perfume I spray at the door of my house just ONE spray, and I can smell it everywhere even almost in the second floor, I do not wear this a lot, actually rarely, just when there's some kind of event that I know everyone will be putting perfumes on, this will absulotely or however u spell that word, will MAKE YOU STAND OUT AND EVERYONE WILL SMELL YOU EVEN THO THERES LIKE 100 PERSON WHO HAVE SOME SORT OF EXPENSIVE PERFUMES ON.

Scent is Oud & Roses is they are, pure kinda, you know with nieche perfume they just get the straight note? not synthetic or anything, like it exactly smells like the notes? yeah thats it, but more woody and HEAVY.

I wonder if this is like noir de noir by tom ford

Billy Bodega

First blast was florid and feminine — just 'perfume,' reminding me of mom's elderly friend, a gregarious interior decorator with chunky jewellery. THEN it gets dank and dirty, far less ladylike, much more barnyard. Sneaking a sniff is an act of transgression. It could be called ROSEBUD! Sexy, heavy, much more masc than the juice hue suggests. But it's SO dank, it began to weigh me down. And it doesn't go away. Longevity on clothes is insane. Days later, I put on the jacket I was wearing when I sampled, and it was like reapplying onto my arm! I laundered the jacket twice, and it STILL smells like ROSEBUD!

Rerewind

It's not bad, but the price is absurd for a totally generic, slightly scratchy and synthetic rose-oud. For this scent you could pay 1/3 the price; for this price you could get the real thing.

ndabeat

It's sophisticated, long-lasting, and leaves an unforgettable impression—Dior nailed it!

Simo23

Buy Oud Touch by franck olivier 20$ it’s 100% identical, same scent, same performance and save your money

Alwaysmelldivine29

My favorite oud scent. I feel so sexy and rich when I wear this, like an Arabian princess. My boyfriend LOVES it on me. Rose and oud scent, perfect for special occasions, definitely not an everyday perfume.

Tshahb

Rose and bumhole, smells like real oud, very nice.

mihuco1217

People have to be cautious when reading reviews here since there seems to be a lot of stubborn trolls trying to discount other people's opinion on this scent. It definitely is an acquired taste, and you really don't have to like it. Always sample before buying.

With that said, this is one of the best ouds I've smelled so far. I own Oud Palao and I want to try Oud Ispahan out once I finish this bottle. They're very similar, but Oud Ispahan seems to be cleaner and a bit classier. The issues with Oud Palao is that it could smell very very dirty to other noses. I personally am in love with that scent, but the rest of my family abhors it. Oud Ispahan seems to be the better option for those who can't stand the dirty smell in Oud Palao. This one is really pleasant and I could tell people would like this one a lot more.

bleu.oud

the best oud i have ever put my nose to (thus far)

Ayregsh

This made me realize that maybe i'm just not a fan of oud. I don't smell the rose at all but the oud is strong and it's giving grandma on a fancy dinner vibes. I'm glad I just bought a sample and not the whole thing because is just not for me, though i can see the appeal. The sillage and lasting is strong so if you like that, consider it.

ChiGurl

Simply the best. Better than all the rest.

Raquel73

This is the same as Velvet oud, and any rose oud from rasasi...etc. That's how I discovered what a rose garden full of poop smells like. Simply horrible!

Silverquick

My favourite rose oud scent - this has a wonderful leathery, deeply red wine rosey vibe that’s juicy with a refreshing sweetness and chewy and yet somehow feeling lighter than a feather and transparent.

There’s a simultaneously watery / yet has a fluffiness to this as well.

No ponginess, no insect repellant or screechy amber woods to my nose on my skin…it’s elegant, ageless and very refined. My most complimented oud scent.

My nose craves this and I’m waiting on winter arriving. I have noticed a difference between old and new batches. Mainly in longevity. But the base fragrance is near identical to me. Perhaps the older is more dense?

Completely unisex and it seems it shows differing facets to everyone. My experience is very rosey (thankfully not a gourmand) over beautiful aged dry woods with a leathery and lightly spiced finish.

Looooooong lasting 😍

Smells like poop.

Lilipoot

Luxurious perfume ever had!!!!
tones of niche perfume poured in one bottle!
Amazing
It won’t disappoint
Silage is perfect
Definitely recommend this perfume

Kekedenae

This one is Tea! The projection and silage is a beast. Oud isnt for everyone. It’s a hit or miss depending on ya body chemistry. Now im older I love Rose fragrance and Oud as well for mature individuals.

DaysScentless

Beautifully blended rose , wood and oud. Lasts a lifetime on skin and clothes. Might not be your everyday fragrance tho.

the drydown is not for me but the opening is pretty pleasant, smells like cherries in church (weird comparison i know)

D@ne

I once loved this. Until someone pointed out how strong it was on me. I was perplexed - it seemed decently strong, but not overwhelming.

Then I smelled it - the dreaded woody-amber. Now it's all I can smell. I can't even bear to smell the cap anymore. Too bad.

If you're sensitive to woody ambers, go chat up Ex Idolo's beautiful Thirty Three.

XilentCntrl

Got a sample Vial with Dior Intense. Those who call it "stinky" i gurantee they never smelled it ,pure fake reviewers . This is one of those frag makes you sniff it again & again👌🔥

Zosema

I finally bought a bottle of this after receiving several samples of it from Dior with online purchases of makeup and other perfumes from their online boutique. I love it, it's warm and alluring in a very refined manner, there is nothing loud or 'in your face" about it. It just epitomises class and elegance. Definitely one I always want to have in my collection.

hedislimane

Got my nose on it the other day. Amazing sophisticated scent. Reminds me of the smell that you get to whiff upon entering a church.

alexkng

Initially hated it for years and now loving it, but just enough to get a whiff now and then. I am a skin scent type of a person so when I first sampled it years ago it was way too potent to my liking. It is no doubt the current version has been toned down and in comparison to Oud Palao, which has almost an identical smell but a little more powdery, Oud Ispahan does not lead me to smell piss in the drydown. Oud Palao is much heavier and more intense, which is in its own right just as beautiful as Oud Ispahan but I prefer somewhat the less intense one.

BB88

A bit of advice: You can completely disregard the "Genuinely stinks" and the "one for one copy of mosquito repellent" those are people who have zero class and probably wear Avon fragrances. At the very least, sample first. You'll thank me later.

Tronic Blanc

When I was single, I got many, many, many 'morning after' texts about this smell...never washing their shirt because it smelled like my pillows....wanting to come back....what was that smell.... It's beautiful, powerful, original, and sophisticated. I've worn this for years, through many, many batches, an it hasn't changed. I've gone through 4 large bottles and have 3 small ones now! It's absolutely beautiful. It's the strongest sexual scent with sophistication you can get. If you walk in smelling like this, and 20% of the room clears out, the other 80% will be entranced. It's the best kind of polarizing. Do you like the smell of opulence and sex on a bed of roses that commands the joy of morning-after smiles while still being classy and fulfilling the Dior aesthetic? Yes.

Jordao el Lono

Not for children under 25 !!
Ok well here we go. This is exactly what is meant by an acquired taste. It's true that this is not an everyday dime a dozen scent. It is a fragrance that you have to get used to, that you have to learn to love. And that often doesn't work right away. It has to grow, give it time. Compare it with drinking wine. We start with cheap drinking wine when we are 15 and when we are 50 we drink a good glass of Pomerol. When we are 25, we listen to steamy funk and when we are 60, refined jazz whispers through our speakers. What you smell is a wonderful, powerful, thick rose/oud combo with some animalic features and the quality really stands out. If you are used to the raw, pure scent, you will love it and you will eventually continue to smell it on your wrist. 8+ frag easy!!

diastopnotes

a very well blended oud & rose fragrance. this was my first time smelling oud and i’d say it’s a bit of an addictive scent. it doesn’t smell grandma-like and i’m someone who is quite afraid of a rose & patchouli mix since it always comes out smelling old fashioned. i find it very hard for a rose scent to impress me but the rose in this is not too sweet or cloying. it’s beautiful and the oud adds a nice warmth and depth to the fragrance making it sensual and sexy. the projection is really nice, because it’s not exactly beast mode, i don’t think it fills up the entire room (depends on how much you spray ofcourse) but it makes sure that others can smell you. it’s not an offensive scent in any way and even though it’s pricey, i think the price is justified because you can tell that it’s made of high quality ingredients and you’ll definitely smell wealthy when wearing this.

Aqua Is Aqua

Genuinely stinks. Don't listen to people saying this smells good, it doesn't. If you're old then maybe but even then it still isn't good. Save your money and buy something else out out of this collection, this one isn't for me.

liam04

this is a one for one copy of Mosquito repellent. It smells exactly like the summer days repellent you buy and apply in australia. Perfumery like this is fascinating to me, I would definitely wear this however for $10 I can smell the same with a can of Rid.

I dont think this is feminine either, I don’t associate this with femininity at all. Rather, a masculine fragrance with an earthy, woody, rose with noticeable saffron. Oud smells real, rose smells vegetable too.

Great fragrance just not worth the price

BASMAJ

Classic rose scent... when it settled It's ultra-smooth, velvety rose and warm oud... a very oriental and familiar scent.

This profile is widely used in the area where I live... a reminiscent rose scent exists in rose soap bars, rose liquid handwash, rose clothes softener, hand lotions, and incense sticks (in the middle-eastern products)... of course, it gives a more perfumery fine quality in Oud Ispahan, but it still has the typical rose scent of the Middle East... It's not a bad thing btw!

I love it so much in winter, it's very nostalgic, like a time machine for me... I enjoy wearing it, and I enjoy remembering many beautiful cold days when I wore it in the last 4 or 5 years between cloudy, rainy days, some foggy mornings, and many quiet freezing nights 🌹❤️🌧️🌬️🌛🌠

Performance wise, It's very long-lasting and beautiful on clothes, warm and sliky smooth... no need to over-spray (less is more) it lasts forever, and the projection is great even outdoor in freezing cold weather.

I suggest testing it before buying... I learned how to like it, it's very heavy in the opening but magical later on.....no way in summer it's very strong, it turns my stomach and makes me feel dizzy (0/10 in hot weather)... in cold weather it's quite the opposite 1000/10 🌹❤ weird!

Simo23

Sharp in the opening, dry down is beautiful
You can buy (Oud Touch Franck Olivier) is Closer to 95% but less pure than (Dior).

This is explicit oriental oud. sharp and not for me
Try before you buy , you can like it

zefragrancec

tbh the best oud scent created by a non arab brand ive ever smelt coming from a saudi

Sadman fragrance

Smells like middle eastern attar. Hate it.

PlatMik

Love rose/oud combos, but this is not it, overall smells like I put my head near a toilet at a bathroom.

It gets better after 20 minutes but the bathroom smell is still there

bilalsultan

Has a majestic and beautiful sillage and a smoky dry down dancing with the ispahan rose back and forth, a literal masterpiece of a fragrance. Dont blindbuy, not for everyone but if youre into the niche strong and heavy fragrances this is signature fragrance worthy 10000%

woomanmoomin

Got a free sample of this but not enough to spray just on a whim or whatever. Something to look forward to. Looks and sounds to me like one for walk-through air misting--and not much of that. I would think that if anyone is getting a (nasty) faecal effect from a Dior product then there's a strong argument for toning down the amount of fragrance sprayed and/or the application process. Love barnyard/animalic oud in moderation, i.e. when I don't overdo it and want to die.

Thg1978

What do they in it? Plutonium?

Stronger than POAL, it is like dior got POAL and... killed it and it has just started to decompose.

One spray inside arm / elbow and it overtakes all over scents I tried.

It lasts and projects.
I understand it is not why a lot people won't like, but on my skin it is something I cannot ignore.

Abdullah Zahrani

When I bought this fragrance it was great then I started to hate it

StinkHater

If you want to enjoy this perfume do not spray this perfume on cloth. Next Pray on your body and cover it under your cloth. Spray on elbow joint only and not on neck.... Then you see how this perfume works!
Once I sprayed it all over and I was forced to move out of the Bus due to the bomb! Hahaah

lmnsvgz

A very standard rose-oud perfume. The oud is quite heavy, not dry. It is sweet, but the woodiness is most prominent.

MadameMerola

I bought my bottle since early 2018 so I am certain I have the old formulation and not the new one because this perfume is so strong, intoxicating and lasts all day.

I remember falling in love with it at first sniff because it was the height of my deep love for everything Oud. I was one of those who absolutely hated Oud when I first smelt it back in 2005 but slowly became drawn to it because of the way it changes with my skin chemistry and becomes very intriguing.

This is not a scent that can be easily loved by mainstream fragrance lovers so I can understand why there are mixed reviews.

This was the first perfume I tried in the Dior Privee Collection and made me so interested in trying others. I love this perfume so much and it is way better than the new version, so I am treating my current bottle like liquid gold because I won’t buy the new version.

I also have Ambre Nuit from 2020 and I love that one too. Hopefully it has not become diluted like the new Oud Ispahan.

When I want to mellow it out, I spray my La Colle Noire (I just got it 10 days ago) over it because all I get from that one is roses and more roses. The new range in the collection are not strong performers like the older ones. Shame because they are so expensive.

timmybils

Be aware youtubers get free bottles to review. If they don't do reviews how the company likes, the company will stop sending them free stuff. If you doubt Dior doing this, look at Sauvage. Sauvage is terrible and so is this! I will never own anything Dior again.

TunyaPe

I agree with the comment which says: “THOSE INFLUENCERS ARE LYINGGGGG.” 👍🏼

The opening is so beautiful, and I’d say unique with its blend. Sillage isn’t strong overall. Arabian style, done in the French way; however, the oud part is definitely not westernised. Ispahan opens with dry, smoky wood, exotic spices, a little leathery. It has the right amount of woody oud and rose, not too forward. The drydown, though…reminds me of a cows field in Cambridge (less mud, just faecal). The oud turns from majestic to barnyard. Many people, especially non-Arabs or real oud lovers, say they love this. Surely they wouldn’t wear this out often or want to bath their glamorous clothes in this drydown. I can’t rate this one because it’s too conflicting.

Pwaladdi

So I got a tester of this ispahan and wasn’t really sure about it at first so I played around with it until I got the magic combo that worked for me. Try TF Lost Cherry with this and see if you like it. Both very strong so use 2 sprays of each below your breast and on your wrist.

0ud_lover

whenever I wear this I get lots of compliments, but doesn't last as long as it should for this price

essenceofthescent

THOSE INFLUENCERS ARE LYINGGGGG, if you want to smell like OUD and a CATS LITTER TRAY the you will love it! but for a floral lover like myself, this was soooo dissapointing. it'll give you a headache and make you be bedbound from a migraine for a month before ever getting the rose notes. Francois Demachy needs to be locked up for this!!! however the longevity and projection are superb... too bad it stinks :(

Andyjones

I find it quite amusing reading some of the negative comments about this fragrance.
It’s like that some people just don’t understand an Oud based scent” in which case they shouldn’t buy it. This is actually quite tame In it’s Oud facet compared to some Middle Eastern brands. I can understand that it could be a challenging aroma for a safe nose’ but as western Oud interpretation’s go this is top notch.

Suicidal_wizard

It’s so animalic it almost smells like poo

Ba2siK

Had a really strong urine smell from it

PrincipeFilip

Along with LV - Ombre Nomade this is the best middle eastern oud rose fragrance on the market. Hands down Dior

Amber Plokchouli

I received a sample of this today and tried it on instantly. Sadly I’m very disappointed.

It opens up with a very prominent masculine note that reminds me of some men’s perfumes. It smells very synthetic. It reminds me of a colleague I had once upon a time who was a severe alcoholic, the kind that starts the day with a few shots of vodka. He used to smell like a mixture of last night’s alcohol still exuding from his pores, covered up with a cheap cologne to hide the smell of alcoholism and hopelessness. He was a very kind soul, and I remember him fondly, but the way he smelled did always make me feel queasy.

I love smells that a lot of people hate. I dig highly indolic jasmines and ouds. I love scents with a hint of manure in them, or a slight hint of man sweat in a musky, animalic scent. You can even give me scents that invoke images of graveyards or are reminiscent of a mouldy purse. Perfumes don’t have to smell pretty for me. I do not, however, want to smell like I’m an alcoholic, trying to hide last night’s binge drinking behind the cheap cologne a one-night-stand left behind. And sadly that is what this smells like to me. It smells cheap and it smells like alcoholism.

Once it dries down more, after an hour, it’s a bit better. The smell of alcoholism has faded to the background, and -although it’s still there- it’s not as prominent and overwhelming. It’s still somewhat off putting, but if this has been the opening, I probably wouldn’t have minded. To me an hour of waiting until it becomes nice is a bit too long, given how sad and depressing the associations I have with this scent are.

It sadly also isn’t half as indolic on me as the comments suggest. I love me a good barnyard oud, or a medicinal one.. but this oud smells very generic, like someone just sprayed the generic mancera dna on them. It’s not a bad fragrance, but it really doesn’t stand out. It smells like a generic oud dna, with nothing that elevates it from the masses (except the awful smell of alcoholism and cheap cologne).

This is probably the harshest review I’ve ever written, but for the price point, I would expect an amazing scent that is truly unique and stands out. For what your getting here you definitely don’t need to go for a private collection. If I ignore the note that is so off putting to me, it’s a nice perfume, but nothing interesting or unique. Most mancera and montale perfumes have more character at a lower price point. Most designer perfumes do too. Not to mention all the options from Middle Eastern brands, that often are much better. For some reason oud in a fragrance has become synonymous with private collections and niche perfumes, but simply putting oud in a perfume, doesn’t make it good. To me this is just a very generic perfume, without much character.

If I want to wear an oud fragrance I usually reach for Lush Goddess (I have the perfume oil). It’s a little bit rough and the edges, but it truly has character and there’s nothing synthetic about it. Just a beautiful sparkly medicinal Oudh with osmanthus and rose. It smells very natural, intense and warm. The dry down of oud ispahan does remind me a bit of Goddess, but it’s weaker, less expressive, and the smell of alcoholism is still faintly there.

Sadly Oud Ispahan is a huge nope for me.

Update:
The next morning the scent is so strong. The sickly ‘alcoholic with advancing liver disease’ note has become even more overpowering than it was in the opening. I’m worried it won’t come off in the shower.
It also still smells exceedingly cheap, like it’s a failed dupe of something. Perhaps it’s my skin chemistry that makes it smell so synthetic and bad, cause otherwise I have no idea why anyone would be willing to buy it at this price point. I have a lot of fragrances that are under €40 (for 100ml bottles), that smell a lot more elegant and exclusive than this.

Without the overpowering note of people who fall asleep in their own vomit every night, this wouldn’t smell cheap. Without that note this would be a pretty, and elegant perfume. I still wouldn’t think it was truly unique or worth the price point, but I would give it a positive review. It’s one note that ruins them all. Not a safe blind buy this one.

** I am guessing the off-putting note in this is either a (very bad) synthetic cedar or sandalwood, or a mixture of both. I love both cedar and sandalwood in other perfumes, but there’s something both sickly and sweet and simultaneously acidic in this one that makes it really overpowering and gross. I wish I got the fecal smelling oud others complain about instead, I’d dig that 🥲

SauvageHater

Had nothing to do today. Decided to spray Dior's Oud Ispahan on my left arm and MFK's Oud Satin Mood on my right.
It's noon, windy and this perfume decided not to sing. While on the other day I was visiting a night wedding and this perfume sang like crazy for sure.
I live in a tropical country, most of the days and nights are... hot and humid.
And this perfume performs better on those days. When your body heats are on the rise or sweaty days.
The opening is strong, attention grabber, not for beginner noses.
Feels like the Oud gives you a slap on the cheek, but the roses kisses you right after.
The dry down? I love it. It's like a grandma smell, in a good way. Smells of a wise person and someone you respected. But it can be too wild and animalistic for some.
Would I recommend this perfume? Totally. It makes you stand out. A narcissist like me loves the attention.
Just prepare to offend some people with your fragrance and be proud with it.

81ghazal1314

Dude the dry down of this is literally disgusting. How is it so popular and famous? It literally smells like cow feces. At first it smelled very nice to me even tho as a middle eastern woman it's the type of oud I don't like (I love other types of non-animalic ouds) in the opening the oud is getting toned down and settled with rose and pachouli. But two hours later all of that goes away and you find urself in the hell that oud had been preparing for u all along. A hell with its everlasting flames kept alive by burning animal fecal matter. And the fire spreads like crazy and brings down everyone around u with you. Ugh I don't even know what to do with the bottle I got dude. I paid too much for it to be thrown away and I also can't tolerate it. Maybe one day I can gift it to some 50+ year old person that I hate.

tinsky61

This is a difficult one to understand. It starts off with a distinct animalic undertone quite similar to what underlies Musc Ravageur by FM. This is followed by a rose warm spicy note. It’s actually the rose version of Musc Ravageur. Having said that the rose spice quality makes it more a feminine scent though I understand how it is considered unisex. A pass for me.

CHESTDAYBABY

some may find the animalic facets quite repulsive but, this is a work of art.

oud ispahan is made to evoke a feeling for the wearer; a rich, distinguished way of carrying oneself.

I love it.

Natalieex

The rose in here is so beautiful but the oud is too challenging for me unfortunately. I like this for the first few hours but after a while you no longer smell the rose and are left with a rather dirty oud that will cling on to your skin and clothes until you wash it off! This is probably one of the strongest most long lasting scents I’ve ever tried!

Even though it’s not for me I appreciate it’s a good quality fragrance, I can see why so many people like it. My nose just isn’t cut out for this type of oud.

Don’t blind buy this.

antoniov

On my skin this smells like rose and cinnamon so not a very good combination for my taste as it is somehow heavy. I'm a fan of the MK and Marly rose fragrances.

midget11

smells like rose oud with a bit of cow dung, very cultured indeed

graciedoe

My least favorite Christian Dior Privee perfume... but its more about my personal taste. Some ouds for me, when does subtly, I love. They can enhance so well when done right but now I know that they are not my jam.

Obviously this is an oud forward perfume but it literally makes me GAG when I smell it on myself. Its super sweet, floral, and has a very overpowering oud base note that overbears throughout the dry down and persists. Unwearable for me but I could see how it could be nice on someone else. IT reminds me of DS and DURGA's concrete after lighting candle which I literally had to put in a plastic bag before giving it away because it made me gag so much.

adikalon123

Strong smell that can make people have headaches but I’m sorry for those because I freaking love oud ispahan 5/5 one of the best ouds

Dylan Lim

This fragrance is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. For me the labdanum in the opening is very rich, and can be headache inducing to some. However once you get past the opening, the oud is extremely rich and it works really well in conjunction with the rose. However it is a strictly winter and fall time wear, and I find it works best at night, perhaps at a formal event. the oud here also isn't animalic, it's very smooth, and in conjunction with all the other notes, almost creates a warm, inviting feeling. Definitely try it if you're an oud lover.

Ambrenuit

This is a specialty for very demanding and trained noses. It is definitely not a generic, ordinary perfume. It's a unisex scent, but for me it's a feminine scent thanks to the prominent rose. As the name suggests, this is an oud woody oriental fragrance and the oud in this perfume is really strong, but the rose softens and romanticizes it beautifully. It is not a perfume for everyday wear and it is not suitable for a young girl either. You have to tune your nose to it, but once you get a taste for it, you will appreciate its originality and refinement. This is a very concentrated, long-lasting oriental fragrance. One spray is all it takes to fill the room for long, long hours. You don't need to carry this perfume in your purse to spray yourself during the day, it lasts on clothes for days.

Silverquick

Pretty potent with a single spray to the back of the hand. Scented filled my home office and could get overwhelming.

But it’s gorgeous. Very rosey like the top of Oud Touch but more resiny, a juicier rose and less dry woody notes.

Leathery notes kick in with a chewy amber feel…sweet but not sickly (meaning not like oud satin mood). It’s unisex but to me leans more masculine.

Very much for winter or lightly sprayed for evening. For me this is huge and oh so lovely.

Update: Post several wears I’ve fallen completely under its spell. Complex, non-gourmand and deep yet so wearable. Absolutely one of, if not the most beautiful rose oud I’ve ever smelt (that’s a lot but so many left to sniff). I must have some of this after my decant ❤️

Awan

For me it was a big disappointment. Had very high hopes it was something outstanding. Did a 250ml blind buy and got a 7.5ml sample too when the package arrived. Tested the smaller decant and quickly knew this was NOT for me, so I sold the large battle unopened.

Akaster by PDM is high class oud/rose and much better sillage and longevity. Give Radical Rose by Matiere Premiere or Emiro by Moresque a try - they are definitely better alternatives to Oud Ispahan.

I am done with Dior!

Stoopid Phresh

Pretty ok rose scent, nothing mind blowing but it does smell pretty & classy. After about 3-4 hrs...It starts to smell like dirty roses but in a good way 😃 This is for rose lovers!

RuggedRostam

I definitely have a love-and-hate relationship with this fragrance, but perhaps that is my own fault.

The perfume itself opens with a blast of rose which might seem cloying to some. However, for me, this rose blast dries down rather quickly into a soft rose with a dry oud in the background. Perhaps my nose goes blind on this fragrance too fast but I just can't seem to get the "enormous" sillage, which is a bit disappointing to me personally. Contradictory to this, I have made it my signature scent (24 M).

As my (Persian) dad smelled this fragrance, he told me it reminded him of Iran and the perfume that his father used to wear, so I guess it lives up to its name.

sidenote: I have been wearing this almost daily for about a month now and have gotten 1 compliment so far...with it freshly sprayed on....in a closed car.....

TL;DR: Worth the price if you really dig the fragrance but don't set your expectations too high.

linoleum

My miniature just arrive today. At first, the oud scents a bit manly. The dry down though, similar to Rose Aoud Micallef.

Vape

Came by a very large flacon of this fragrance a few years ago, ironically before I really fell down this rabbit hole.
I didn't know what I had, and subsequently took a punt on the practically full 400ml bottle for £60
Wow - this was powerful and having never knowingly come into contact with an Oud or Rose scent before I was instantly beguiled and confused by the strength and complexity. On application I thought I had made a mistake (I was ignorant and naïve and literally had no clue what this was, and whether I had simply bought an extravagant fake or similar...)
However, after a few minutes I continued to sample the radiating scent and I slowly started to appreciate that this was no fake, this was something very special. I got home that night, and on embracing my wife I was met with a shocked and horrified expression - 'What on earth do you smell of', or words to that effect. I explained what had happened, but she had already made up her mind. She hated it. So I wore it to work sometimes, or when I was away from home with work, but mainly it sat in my sock draw. Until one day I listed it on a well known auction site, and it sold for an awful lot more than I had ever expected!

That was another branch of the journey that has led me here and to my true fascination and love for fragrance, and for that I must truly thank Mr Demachy. Back to the fragrance; as a scent I LOVE it - however, on me, there are so many others more suited.
IMO OUD ISAPHAN leans on the femme and the encanting and the exotic, and I am none of the above. OUD Rosewood however, that is a different story!

klioux

Warm, ambery, spicy rose. This is full and round with a deep oud base, labdanum and patchouli. Extremely bold and decidedly feminine to my nose. As time goes on it seeps deeper into its dirty funky oud roots.

This is what I wanted Tom Ford's Rose de Chine to smell like, but that one is thinner with powdery peony and a simpler central amber sweetness.

peachygal

I had to try this one out as one of my favourite YouTubers talks about this a lot and I had to know what it smells like.

It’s STRONG in a middle eastern kind of way. Very powdery and spicy. Definitely unisex but I say it leans slightly feminine but I would not consider it a typical feminine scent.

It’s definitely not for me but it is a statement maker for sure.

Gioni

On my way to review every oud perfume that's mainly used, we're now on the dior house!

I tried Oud Ispahan for the first time when it first got released before the reformulation. Before then I must admit the oud was extremely aperant and it was arguably one of the best oud/rose combos on the planet. However, after the reformulation it is just a shadow of its once great self. The oud doesn't seem authentic anymore or simply extremely diluted. I doubt it ever used real oud to begin with but it definitely didn't have as much of an oud note anymore. The only thing I could really smell is the intense rose with a woody backnote.

Overall I am not a huge fan of pure rose so post reformulation I'd give it a 5/10 for smell, however if you can get a batch from the first formulation I'd give it a 9/10.

Bottle is basic simplistic and overall amazing. No complains here. Just make sure to test before buying.

Perseiides

I was born in Ispahan and I have to say, they've captured the Persian rose/middle eastern oud wonderfully. I don't know how much of it is placebo but this definitely smells like home and teleports me back with its familiar notes of rose and saffron which in this perfume are of high quality rather than sickly which these particular notes can often be. The sillage and longevity are amazing. I would wear this in the summer, fall, winter spring day and night! I got a rose oud perfume from an independent perfumer in Egypt which this reminds me of a lot, but this one is softer. The oriental notes are so well balanced, it's one of those perfumes that takes you on a journey and in this case it takes me back to the gorgeous flower gardens of Ispahan. A strong and elegant rose oud - perhaps my new favourite!

theouddr

Oud Ispahan has been a rollercoaster for me. I first received a sample and used 2 sprays on my skin. The scent was nice. Well blended rose-oud with great projection. I thought at this point in time that this was a fantastic fragrance. The next day I decided to give it a full wear. I sprayed 1 spray on each arm and 2 sprays on my chest. It started out great but as the day progressed it became a bit nauseating. The oud settled and became a dirty, skanky oud with the rose becoming a bit cloying at times. I honestly could not wait to get home and shower as it became overbearing. I would caution anyone considering this fragrance to sample it for a full day and adjust the amount of sprays. Even upon further testing with less sprays this fragrance was just too much for me. It is a nice scent to wear to bed only for me as I can not stand it as a full day wear. Oud Ispahan to me is a 3.5/10.

alfrued

I own this since 2016, used it regularly in colder days & nights and I can confirm that, it was made to last for a lifetime.
The blending art is what makes this perfume stunning.
Every time I spray it I feel like I’m opening 150 yrs old bottle of red wine (dark fruits, pungent & syrupy sweet wine).

Perfume enthusiasts loved it, even for untrained noses, this smells luxurious.

danymasri98

Well blended oud, the rose and labdanum are prominent as well. Although not a mass pleaser, it is a very well refined and blended scent.
This is my personal opinion, I have tried all the oud perfumes in the private collection (oud rosewood, purple oud, and this) and out of all this is my 2nd favourite. The first one being oud rosewood which has a saffron note and the last purple oud which was the strongest and most animalic one.

autoperk

If loving you is wrong....I don`t want to be right. I`m almost embarrassed to admit how much I love this filthy animal. There is only a brief window we hot, humid Floridians get to wear our oud perfumes in public. This is the one I come running to. I love that the oud accord has that delicious band aid quality. Oud Ispahan is sweet and fruity. The rose is soft the saffron robust. Sometimes I layer with Oud Satin Mood to fem things up or Oud for Greatness to rein in those wild beasts. Today there is a slight breeze and the temperature has finally dropped. I am wearing all three perfumes and I suspect everyone here at work hates me. I don't care.

Your description has made me want this stank even more.
PM me if you have a bottle to sell...

I am not sure what everyone means when they say this is animallic.. can someone explain me the note? For me it’s very strong old school floral.. That’s what my grand ma’s drawers and wardrobe would smell like. It doesn’t smell repulsive just very dated!!

Edit: I went for an hour long swim in a pool and that washed away all floral notes and now I could smell strong Oud similar to mid of Halfeti (Penhaligon) so you can say it’s very strong and latches on to skin. Unfortunately, it’s not a cute oud; more like burnt rubber.. however it’s still nothing like animalic, fecal or anything like that!

ValDelicieuse

Omg this is such a sophisticated oud fragrance, for me it is *the* perfect oud. It sensually mixes rose and oud, and is not overwhelming. The sillage and projection are incredible! My personal favorite in the colder months to wear over a sweater. The dry down still has oud, but becomes more powdery clean and rosy. So so so so good! Do not blind buy, she is a powerhouse and needs to be tried on first!

Faris80

Not my top preference fragrances, reminds me of Arabian night edition of D&G the one, with better performance and quality

kishka

I sampled this yesterday in Selfridges and I can still smell it on my coat this morning, so that takes care of longevity. I think this perfume is stunning!! It’s well balanced, has a beautiful opening which is creamy labdunum flying with roses and lovely things. The dry down, which for me is SO important is gorgeous! Rich. Aromatic. I can detect the saffron and the beautiful rose, a great combo, the oud which is a good one which has so many facets, the laudanum and the cedar. I love this. I missed the previous formulas which I don’t care about, this is today, available, not a vintage, accessible in Selfridges and beautiful. I will get a fb!

NiqueK

I’m going to go ahead and offer a counter to the whole “the reformulated version sucks” thing

I got an official dabber sample bottle when it first launched in 2012, and I can tell you that particular blend was WAY too strong, and gave me a headache, much like the original leather oud did.

I’m talking, it was so strong it was downright unwearable, and it was just so bad that I didn’t even wear it…eventually gave the sample away to someone else.

People saying the latest form. doesn’t project etc, it definitely does, however it’s not as downright batshit crazy as the original.

If that’s what you’re looking for in a scent, idk man…to each their own, but for me, I feel that this form. is actually the BETTER and more wearable version. No more headaches.

Longevity is 12+ hours too.

TopBase

I feel lucky that I still have the Original full bottle, bought in 2013/2014.
Also own a full bottle of Leather oud, bought in the same period.
I keep them fresh in the cellar.
Though I am curious how the current reformulated scents.

Dr B1414

Managed to find a 2012 bottle of this, before it got reformulated, and I must say, this is for sure my favorite synthetic/commercial oud perfume out there. Far superior to what Dior is selling now, and I think it's also better than Oud Palao(although this one is also good, and definitely better than the current OI).
To put it short, it is basically the original Leather Oud, with added rose(a watery rose) and earthy patchouli. There you have it. OG Leather Oud perfected. Yes, it is bold, leathery, smoky, musky, earthy, and then you get some rose, but it does not stand out. Sublime, mature, elegant.
I absolutely can't stand synthetic oud accords and almost all commercial oud perfumes. But this one is really good. Wow, how Dior has fallen.

takemymoney

I have about 4 rose / oud fragrances and I have to say this is the first one I have come across that I really really dislike/hate. I ensured it for about 20 mins hoping that the dry down would be better but it just kept getting worse so I sprinted to the sink. On me it is an Iso E Super bomb and I can't smell rose at all. Super disappointing. I had read some many great things. But I guess it does not work with my chemistry - ah well.

bluehydrangeas

Oud Ispahan is such a shock to me. I did not expect Dior to make something so complex and delicious. Maybe i shouldn’t be so surprised, i mean Dior has produced Poison, Fahrenheit, and Homme Parfum. However this fragrance has an animalic facet that reminds me of my vintage Opium. It also has incense and patchouli which are also in Opium. Just to be clear i’m talking about the Opium EDT and my bottle is from the 1980s so is not the modern formula.
This fragrance is beautiful, it’s a heavy one tho so is not for everyone. Pretty animalic, rose-y, oud-y, spicy, it’s a lush fragrance. But it’s not perfection, i only wish it was stronger.
I know, i know for many it’s already strong enough even too strong, for me it could be bolder and even more intoxicating.

9/10.

Controlledbyscent31

I need this ! 😍 I am not a massive fan of patchouli but I don't detect much in this at all, like it's not overpowering to my nose like narciso rodriguez in the pink bottle 🤮

Sammy@au

Oud Ispahan.
One of the most iconic oud & rose fragrances in the world.
Beautiful, classy, refined, animalic beast.
One of the supreme oud & rose combination's readily available to the general public.

Ferra_Verto

Really beautiful rose oud; airy, a touch sweet, with a deep yet comforting oud base. Soft little hints of spice waft in and out.
This is mellow enough to serve as a beginner's intro to the rose/oud scent profile, yet complex enough for an experienced fraghead to appreciate and enjoy.
Lasts for ages (12+ hrs), the sillage is around arms' length, creates a cocoon that invites you in.
Perfect for autumn & winter.

oud ispahan 2012 vs 2018,plz someone guide,is 2012 formulation available or discontinued?

Powdery, Lavender, Fruity, Floral dna

Opening:
First whiff was a the note of bugspray. :S
Oud goes to the top immediately and it's real, a gorgeous crowd-pleasing style of Oud, and a amount just elegantly added.
A good amount of fuzzy Musk follows.
A touch of Berry fruit lingers in the background to sweeten the frag.
The note of Saffron gives the dna an a touch of acidity and 1980's female perfume scent.
Labdanum to give it a creamy orange scented white floral note.
Touch of Pink Rose oil, it also moisturizes the skin.
It's not just Rose, there are other florals mixed within this dna.
There is a touch of White Vanilla Absolute to give it some sweetness.
Lots of Smokey Incense.

Mid:
A decent quality Sandalwood and Cedar comes into play, giving the fragrance some backbone.
The Pink Rose starts to become stronger to the point of almost taking over the lead role of the dna.
Patchouli comes into the scene adding just a touch of earthiness to the scent.
Musk still cuts through the middle of the dna.
A surprising note of citrus comes out of nowhere, im thinking Bergamot/Yellow Grapefruit.
And, also a small note of Powder pleasantly & unexpectingly comes out into play as well!
And...lol Spices found in her sister 'Feve' come into play, including that hint of Cinnamon.

Bottom Dry-off:
Raspberry comes in at the end, and it's most welcomed.
The note of Incense smokiness.
The note of Myrrh accompanies it also, darkening the frag and giving it a touch of coolness to the nose.

This is a crazy technical dna! The nose here is really talented! It's slightly changing & taking me on a journey. I am sooo impressed!!
The overall fragrance leans very feminine although has notes of masculine within it, which a lot of ladies out there really enjoy wearing as an option when they are in that mood.
This can be Unisex, but the feminine notes in here are so prominent, i would only recommend this to straight guys if they are comfortable rocking that Pink Rose note in fragrances, such as YSL L'Homme Ultimate for instance.
Doesn't smell cheap, smells of quality, not the richest in the world but you'll feel like a person moving up in life on their grind while driving their car and out in public.

My only complaint is that it doesn't project...Over-spraying is needed. After an hour it's just a skin scent. Gawd! Why does Dior ruin their amazing fragrances?!?
This is a really great beautiful, pretty, professional, fashionable daytime fragrance.
And because of the above, id recommend testing this first to see if it fits you.
If you're a young beautiful woman persuing her dreams, i HIGHLY recommend this gorgeous youthful sexy quality fragrance!!

3.5/5 Woofs!

Animalic - smells like civet ... complex to wear

If your into animalics , this one is for you

Fragaddict123

A good fragrance but definitely not worth the price and not worth the hype as well
I never liked it before when it was everywhere in the Middle East now that the people forgot about it I gave it a try
Not something iam in love with and neither to I plan to get a full bottle of this one

Jernê Knowles

What is this?! What evolution is this?! With each journey that I start in search of a "perfect" Oud, I am extremely surprised and even when the surprises are not the best, I am deeply more in love with the intriguing note that depending on the climate can exude a more indistinct aroma that our vain imagination can try. to reach. I advance that this does not happen here, with Oud Ispahan by Dior, not really!

It's been a long time since I witnessed Dior being Dior with all the letters, bringing bold aromatic characteristics in their creations that consecrated some great classics of the House that today were summarily mutilated, losing their immaculate, imposing and respectfully superb characteristics!

Oud Ispahan is so special and magnanimous in his way of existing, that I can identify note by note in his evolution, everything very well organized, respecting other people's space and chronologically emerging at the opportune moment. This is synonymous with responsibility in creating and traits of professionalism designed for a select and specific audience, yes.

As soon as we leave, we come across a somewhat complex aroma, pure Frankincense and in several stages. Initially I feel the green Frankincense, with the scent of stems and tanned leaves, then it takes on a scent of resinous gum that, hours later, takes on the aspect of oriental incense burning incessantly. It's not just any incense aroma, it's something balsamic, grandiose and that gradually wraps around.

After almost a whole day with it being applied, Oud Ispahan closely refers to the honorable footprint of Attar Al Kaaba from Al Haramaim, only in a less medicinal and measured way, I believe that with alcoholic nuances through an Odor of Oud, dry Patchouli and more frankincense. At this stage, even those with asnomia would be able to feel it, due to the fact that it projects a very fine oriental aroma and treated on the edges in such a way as to make even those who do not identify with the Oriental family, have their hearts shaken. I believe that the translucent and intense beauty of this phase is due to Patchouli, which easily emanates its intense aroma and in an unmistakable way.

At the base, the fragrance becomes more Oud, much more noticeable, but less "aggressive" because of a woody touch, I bet on Sandalwood, which has this power of at the same time being intense, it manages to be behaved and attract curious eyes. questioners. Patchouli still lingers around here, but with a very characteristic aroma when combined with wood, something that reminds of a stuffy or even moldy environment, but nothing that compromises the perfect evolution of Oud Ispahan! Unfortunately for me, the Roses were supporting actors, I captured their nuances in a shy way and very inseparable from the others; but that didn't make me sad!

So, I hope that "everyone" one day, before dying, will know or have a bottle of Oud Ispahan to call mine! As much as the encounter is disappointing, I believe it will be worth it for the fact that I can experience something totally sublime and well organized olfactorily.

My ❤ is grateful, very grateful!

safaincy

It lasts literally almost all week on my clothes while over 12h on my skin. The oud is definitely the star while the rose notes as the shadow (on my skin). Powdery rose, not jammy rose for me. With all honesty it smells really similar to my dad's oud but more animalic. It's powerful, I usually spray once and that's all it takes, it fills out my room too! It does give me headache sometimes (when it's too concentrated in my room) even with my oud-pampered nose. Not a safe blind buy if you're not used to oud imo. But it's actually a nice scent if you're used to it. Worth it? tbh you can get something similar like this with a lower price tag but yeah sure, it's worth the bucks.

edit: I read more reviews and apparently it has been reformulated. I had mine back in early 2015 so I'm not sure if the bottle I have with me is reformulated or otherwise. Nevertheless there's 3/5 left in my 125ml bottle still! Also, I prefer Purple Oud over Oud Ispahan and have been using purple oud more :)

catgotnose

I still can’t believe a mainstream French house like Dior offers something like this. Very surprised that a lot of westerners enjoy it this much. This is incredibly middle eastern.

It is so not for everyone. It is not like other rose and oud combos. Rose d’arabie, black aoud, etc. they are different. It is rose and oud but rose is not obvious, fused with oud so rose is not jammy and out there. Very well mixed. This one is so dense. It borderline smells like a motor oil. This is animalic oud. Not barnyard but still skanky. Not suitable for blind buy and unaccustomed noses.

After Islamic pilgrimage, people bring back souvenirs like little perfume oils or scented rosaries form Saudi Arabia. When I first smelled this one, I immediately remember them. This is so typical in a way. It is original. Maybe today there are similars and clones out there but Dior had broken the ground with this one. But also not original at all because it is a well known style in the middle east. And you can find similar and better performing ones for a dime compare the Dior’s price.

Interesting scent but as a perfume, it is not an easy wear. It is more masculine. I can’t imagine a women wear this. This is too much. If you can try, go for it and test it. Even if it is for a sniff, test it. So come to know this kind of staff. But don’t blind buy it. I wish it was more rounded so I would wear it frequently. But people around me don’t react to it positively, so I don’t wear it publicly. I wear it at home.
7/10

Terrence loves you

Not bad but way overpriced.

hritz87

A master piece! But not for amateur noses

fruitscentlover

I love it. It has an exotic smell to me. It puts me in a good mood.

Softpeacelily

This stuff lasts forever! Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful mix but I could never buy it as it’s not feminine enough…I love it on my husband though. A nice woody smelling blend of oud and rose, but to me it’s just too much of an ‘incense’ smell. Then again I’m more of a sweet floral/gourmand girl myself.

This is a very Middle Eastern fragrance and if you have been to the Middle East you’ve probably smelt this or something very similar in the mall as someone walks past you.

I wouldn’t blind buy it but it’s very much appreciated by me on other people.

DLinton01

Tried this and it wasn’t good but I can tell it is super high quality. The oud is extremely animalic and to me had a urine smell to it. Not for me test before you buy!

romanygerges

Amazing stuff, even though it is a shadow of its former glory.

IamdrinkingBeer

Just gorgeous stuff. Winter and winter only. Dior did a fantastic job here and made a extremelly classic Rose Oud combo, that in the last 2 hours goes to a similar "barnyard" Leather Oud smell...now who loves that, and who hates it, im not going to discuss. But it's extremely realistic and unique. Not for everyone, but the people who connect with it will love it for a loooong time.

04/11/22 update: there is some weird nostalgic connection to me with pre-Xmas season for me now. I love this stuff man, its so gorgeous. I cannot wait to rock this in the december time in the future and make some memories.

Gi5elle.C

Oud Ispahan is my new obsession. I wear it to work (I spritz very lightly since it's pretty strong) and pretty much any time I don't feel like wearing anything else. It smells sexy and grown-up. I especially love the way it smells in my hair after I've had it on all day. I will definitely add this to my regular rotation.

DistinguishedGent1

I managed to find a bottle of Oud Ispahan from 2012 as a blind buy. This stuff is amazing. I would dare say that this is my favorite rose based fragrance. The oud in here similar to the oud in the earlier Leather Oud releases for Dior. It's floral without being very jammy, woody, slightly resinous and very animalic. You can detect the saffron which gives a little bit of spice and a the patchouli gives a little earthiness to the fragrance, but the rose and oud are at the hear of this fragrance.

I've never been to Ispahan, but if this is what Francois Demachy had in mind then it's a place I would like to visit. The vision here was phenomenal and I appreciate the artistic expression. Although this has the same oud as in Leather Oud, I believe this is more wearable. I see that some have compared this to Potion Royal Black by DSquared2. I can see some similarities, especially in the rose and the more woody notes. However, this is different and much more opulent.

I know it has been reformulated and I would like to try the new formulation to compare. But this is a gem. Easily one of my favorite fragrances in my collection.

kien.vu

One of my best oud perfume (maybe just after Oud Wood from TF). The scent is intimate and mature, but it smell better on a man because of a slightly spicy taste. The price is absolutely affordable for an oud bottle, comparing to Oud wood. Projection and longevity can be rated 10 out of 10, plus the base notes can be mixed with another freshie-woody fragrance really well. You can blind buy this, coz it's pleasant, not as intense as other famous oud lines of other brands.

Martin__

I finally managed to get my hands on Oud Ispahan from 2015.

It opens up with a tiny hints of rose and then the fun begins. Wait, did I say fun? I meant FUNK, oh yes. It's barnyard-ish, animalic and instantly reminds me of Dior's Leather Oud. Actually, I think, it's the same oud, the same agar resin (it's chemical substitute of course) in both of these fragrances. While the scent develops on my skin a tiny amount of spices come and go (mainly saffron), woods are there, but rather hidden in the background.

Longevity is 9-11 hours, sillage is over average.

The new version is slightly less funky and animalic, and focused on the rose and spices.

I prefer the older Oud Ispahan.

VeronicaMa

This smells like stinky doo-doo, compost, a dirty toilet with some green perfume trying to cover it up. It's horrible. I purchased a purse spray of this from Royalty Scents after a YouTuber praised it. She said it made her walk differently. She must have thought she pooped her pants and walked differently because this stinks. I have Feve Delicious and Vanilla Diorama and like them a lot. But this is a HUGE disappoint. I love TOM FORD Oud Wood so OUD isn't a problem for me. This has a turdy smell to it that shouldn't be worn.

brokesta911

Dior Oud Ispahan (2012) - rose, earth & palace - #francoisdemachy ‘s perfume starts with a beautiful note of labdanum, leathery and resin like. Then, the rose mixed with animalic woods made even more pronounced by Patchouli. Feels like a flower rooted in a forest housed in a middle eastern palace.

AntoniaJS

Oh my Lord… what can I say about this scent? I feel like being a queen in another country. I have had the chance to get a hold of the old batch, and the new one as well. I won’t even bother getting the new bottle, but i am DESPERATELY looking for a 2012-2015 Oud Ispahan perfume. My beloved brother and sisters on this thread, please, i beg of you, if you can sell me, or know someone who wants to sell me a bottle, please do get in touch, send me a message. I won’t give up on this quest!

ajfragrances

This is such a strong fragrance…. I don’t get the oud that much but it definitely smells like a western take on oud & rose. It’s good but it’s too strong for me, and though I like it it’s one of those fragrances I prefer smelling on other people, not me. Which is why I gave mine to my sister and I knew that was a good choice because I appreciated it much more on her and getting whiffs of it every now and then it grew on me and it didn’t seem that strong on her than it was on me.

Caldrumr

Nice, but maybe not for me.
It leans feminine, with a rose I would describe as bordering on screechy - very sharp and medicinal.
Yet I still like it.
There's also a lot of labdanum to open, with just a hint of saffron and woods.
The oud here is fairly realistic, but is not as up front as the rose and labdanum, which run the show.
Interesting and powerful, and appealing.
But I don't think I'll buy a bottle once I run through my decant.

LaContessina

Very powerful, medicinal rose-oud combo.
It's dry and masculine, the rose being here greenish, crisp and not sweet jammy.

I don't find it particularly unique, as this rose aoud has been played many times.
Montale (many of their frags) comes to mind.
Sandalwood in the drydown makes it particularly dry and mannish. I can also smell a gasoline note (it's one if the many facets of Oud i think).

It has big sillage and the longest wear time.
However it's not an 'ordinary day' scent as it can be very distubing to some.

Still on the fence with this one... it's a well done fragrance but lacks originality... especially at this price point.

Hung vietnam

Initial I feel it so stink like a withered rose and animal became decompose just few minutes, it's turn into more enjoyable after smell over and again
And it's not for compliment in addition get disgust.

Fay@30

A beast in a bottle!

SimplDude

I started my fragrance journey back in 2017 till the end of 2018. I came back early this year and I would say Oud is a fragrance territory that I am still finding my way through. I bought a 9ml decant of this Oud Ispahan around March this year after I heard of quite interesting reviews. The first time I tried, the opening was off putting to me but I thought there’s a good reason why it garnered great reviews so I gave it some time. Now that my nose has a little training, I decided to revisit it again today in my cabinet and all I can say is that this is a beautiful Oud fragrance that I want to wear. It smells seductive, exquisite and powerful. I hope I can afford a full bottle one day.

Update:

If you love Oud Ispahan, check Franck Olivier Oud Touch for a fraction of the price. It's a bang for your buck and you will enjoy the similarity. I cant be any happier with that gem.

“Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments” 🙏

Decant Addict

Would it be fair to say dont buy this if the batch code is post-2018? I have decants of vintage OI and it is HYPER-BEAST. but im put off of buying a 2020 formulation because of some reviews that say not to bother

Ilyags

Smells very similar to LV ombré nomade

Smells like a dirty grandma at first but then the dry down comes out and it smells a little better, either way I can’t justify spending money on a full bottle of this.

Flippi1

This is a jolting loud experience that is quite harsh makes TF oud fleur seem tame …! A real barnyard oud tempered with sweet rose - I actually like it but I think a lot would not. This is a surprise for me and is unlike the rest of the Dior maison line a major do not blind buy !!

ELR

Upon first spray I am INSTANTLY transported to the airport bathroom in Doha, Qatar. Women doused in oud have been in and out all day and although no longer physically in the bathroom, their oud scent permanently clings to the walls.

For me, unfortunately, it is a mixture of oud and floral bathroom cleaning products feebly trying to cover up the inevitable stench of a public restroom.

Please don't be upset anyone who loves this - I am not commenting on quality and I'm sure on others skin it has the potential to smell beautiful. How things develop or what scents remind us of are all so subjective! The only reason I even wrote this review is because I've never had a scent give me such a vivid memory of such a strangely specific place.

miranda2901

My brother has this and wears it all the time, it's very woody and (to me) more masculine leaning. Personally it gives me a headache when he wears this, it's too strong. That being said I noticed it lasts a looong time and you can smell it from far away! Definitely not for everyone and I don't think it's an everyday scent, nor a safe blind buy!

rosenoir

This is such a beautiful quality composition from Dior. Of all the similar 'niche designer' lines such as Louis Vuitton, Armani, Tom Ford, Le Labo, or even Creed... This is the best value quality oud out there. Incredible sillage and longevity, high-quality ingredients that are on par with Tom Ford Private blends yet reasonably priced... You get 125ml or 250ml of juice as well. So it's a no-brainer to have in any fragrance wardrobes... I hope it's available forever!

Alexander94

So after years of trying different fragrances I think its fair to say I have found my signature. Out of the creeds, Tom fords and Penhaligons who'd have thought Dior would be the one. For me this works like clock work 1 spray will last me 12 hours well I can't smell it past that could be longer but lets be honest 12 hours is more than enough time. I'm not made of money so all the above were decants but I did purchase a full bottle of this yes its a pretty penny however it will last me forever one spray a day is all I need. I understand this won't be for everyone but I love everything about it from start to finish. Don't blind buy but if you do love it go for it. at least with this compared to creeds etc you will be safe in the knowledge that the longevity it amazing and performance is outstanding also. I was torn between Oud Ispahan Dior and The Tragedy of Lord George Penhaligons and I am glad I chose this. I hope others find it as enjoyable as myself. :)

Hellenic Perfumology

Dirty Oud & Rose Petals.

Diors take on Middle eastern craze? I think it is and its well composed!

The oud is pretty dirty here but somehow it gives character to the overall composition! The rose come's in a bit later like a Floral Tsunami to make this not just a good creation, But an amazing one!

I Think this is one of Demachy's finest creations, it reminds me of a polarizing person, a person with charisma. I will go on and say it.

This is Kobe Bryant in a bottle, Oud Ispahan has the same mamba mentality charisma, Get out of my way and let me finish the job.

9,5 times out of 10, it delivers.

Thats your 9.5!

Amazing Creation!

Another major disaster by François Demachy who insist in compounding new olfactory nightmares or degrading previously created masterpieces (check Menardo’s Bois d’Argent (2004) that he transformed into something else).
This composition is so loud and rough that, even for a caravansary merchant in Aleppo, it’d be considered inappropriate for wearing, unless you want to smash you companion under the heavy weight of all Arabian Nights’ components mixed altogether in the the witch’s cauldron!
A less pretentious and much more sophisticated combination of the main oud-rose accord is Nathalie Feistheuer’s Ferrari Essence Oud whch sweetens the square corners of oud with a gentle amber and leather accord that transforms this oriental bomb into a sophisticated masculine fragrance.

Mrscent

One of the best Oud & Rose combo out there!

whoaboy

On me, I get only a little rose. Instead, I get tons of labdanum on top of oud and saffron. Sadly though, on me the scent is quite synthetic, like the "new car" order they spray at carwashes (actually it smells a lot like it). After a couple of hours, when the labdanum and (what I am assuming is) rose wear off, I'm left with saffron and oud, which gives a sharp, firewood smoke, dirty scent. Altogether, it's not the best fragrance on me, though I can certainly see how it would be intoxicating on others.

#christiandior #oudispahan

The first thing you notice upon first spray is rose, strong and potent rose! Oud Ispahan is all about #Rose and #Oud which too with some spiciness.

3 S describes it well: Superb, Sensual and Seductive. Nothing else would come close on #Valentines Day!

It's one of the all year round fragrance where you don't have to look for weather application constantly before applying.

In my fragrance journey so far, it was easy to understand that reformulations does impact a scent greatly hence obtaining a bottle from 2014 was nothing but exceptional and special thanks to my brother Goutham for helping with this sheer beauty in bottle.

PS: the post is based on my thoughts and understanding, if you think otherwise try to make your own post around it.

Rob80

They don't say what type of oud is in here but this is exactly the type of oud that i LOVE. It's not the dusty dry antique store vibe kind of oud that you find in 90% of designers nowadays. It's the rich skanky bitter type of oud, the type that you feel like it's dynamically alive on the skin.

The rose here smells like rose water as opposed to a real rose and i wouldn't want it to be any other way because it mixes perfectly with the type of oud accord they used here. Just gorgeous and addicting.

This is not for everyone, if you're blind buying this expecting a natural luscious rose with a bit of oud to balance it out, you're going to be disappointed. It's actually the other way around: Rich skanky oud with sweet rose water to balance it out...but not by much hence the oud is pretty dominant here.

As much as i love frankincense heavy scents, shower me with Oud Ispahan(s) all day and i'll be a happy man :)

Oana Emilia

Contrary to what fans voted here, I don't think this is a very long lasting perfume. After only a few hours, I can only smell a light trace on my skin. Personally, I don't really like it. Compared to other oud perfumes out there, I smell too much patchouli - which for me is similar to a kitty litter box smell.

Cristinaaa

This oud almost blew my nose out. That being said, for the price, the quality is exceptional and what one would expect in terms of sillage and longevity. No doubt, this is a very oud heavy fragrance with all other notes far in the background. At first spray, I get a sharp spicy oud that is almost pungent. There is a light sweetness from the rose... and I’m not getting much else. I lived in Dubai for 11 years and this fragrance is very reminiscent of what many of the locals used to wear. It may not be to my taste but it’s beautiful nonetheless.

RamsesII

2012-late 2014 beast beast mood. Masterpiece 10/10
Late 2014 to 2017 very good. Still beast 9/10
2018-2019 average performance. Scent more rosey. More fem. 7/10
2020 forward. Slightly below average performance. Sweeter 5.5/10

Do not bother with anything after 2018. Not worth it. I tried all and I bought all.

everynamestaken

Just new from Christian Dior direct. The code is 0K01 - (bottled October 2020).

Has it been reformulated? £200 down and after 5 sprays, to my nose it’s only a skin scent after 1 hour.

I sprayed then went to my folks house - only 15/20mins later - and 3 people’s noses could only smell it as a skin scent.

My brother said ‘it was nice but nowhere near the strength of my usual ones’! (Interludes, Noble Leather etc etc)

I have a small amount of my Christian Doir Leather from a few years back and that is the real deal... extremely potent stuff!

I’m honestly so dissatisfied I want a refund. Anyone got any experience with this batch code?

Lubna.Alam

Stunning Oud fragrance, it starts off strong and loud but once settled in the heart and base notes are absolutely complimentary and leave a lovely Oud lingering scent for the rest of the day.

I think this is a perfect Oud frangrance for women who are in to Oud, definitely worth the buy.

Danica.Zivkovic

I absolutely love this perfume. I've been living in the Middle East for several years now and the first thing I noticed when I came here was that all local people had this aura of scent around them, so mysterious, in a good way, and unfamiliar scent at that point to me. When I first smelled this perfume I felt repelled, as it was too strong, but after living for several years in the Middle East I began to understand obsession with OUD perfumes. Once you smell oud, no other perfume will come close to comparison, and Oud Ispahan is the best in class. It is strong, compelling, mysterious, rich, and sophisticated. Sillage is enormous and people will notice your presence. This is my new staple.

rrraaaiiittt

Very strong and powerful. I don't personally like to wear it at all. I don't smell any rose in this, yet the saffron, amber, labdanum are very overpowering, with a hint of Oud.

aspirina

Very intense oud scent. The Oud is very prominent, I have smelled something very similar to this before, the humble Al Rehab Al Sharquia...very good dupe for this scent, of course not so refined but very close. Potent and mysterious.
I do not enjoy most Oud scents, but to be honest this is fantastic.

Rated_mo

Most polarising frag in my collection.. I like it but its too mature (I'm 26) and too heavy.. Hard to think at what occasion would this one fit.. It made me afraid from trying any other rose oud fragrance.. The oud is more than the rose by a but hopefully it would work out this next winter

zina saleh

as a middle eastern woman i never loved oud as it was something we smell since childhood and all grandmothers use it for themselves and as incense to the house , so oud for me was not something i was interested in as a perfume, but this all changed when i met oud ispahan , oh this perfume is so me , oud and rose heaven that is classy and sexy and unique , i bought my first 40ml bottle in Amsterdam , then i bought my Large bottle here in Baghdad , i still remember when i was wearing this in Oxford 2 years ago and an English friend told me you smell like Arab ! haha i told him well because i'm actually an arab! it is beautiful scent that looks like my culture and mix well with my skin . i will always keep buying

nadia.c

@loveparfum,
Oud Ispahan is indeed stronger and will probably last you a long time as only one-two sprays will be enough for the whole day.

You just need to keep in mind that the rose note in the JM perfume is more prominent than the oud whereas in Oud Ispahan they are more like 50/50. Not to forget the patchouli which gives more intensity and dirtiness to the perfume. However, it can be layered with any simple citrus cologne to tone down the intensity (the effect is really nice actually).

It's beautiful if you are looking for a statement perfume but not as wearable as the JM one.

loveparfum

Is this smell like Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud Intense version? I love how Velvet Rose smell like rose and incense (woody) but longevity is not great so I want to replace it with similar scent but with good performance. Please advice. Thank you.

Freedomlover

Absolutely stunning fragrance anytime of the year for me..... Deep.. Intense and very very very very very addictive.......

Best oud and Rose combination.... Armani Rose de Arabie is a very close second but not even close when it comes to silage and projection or longevity..... I bought 3 huge bottles around 5 years ago... On my winter jackets... Scarves etc etc that I haven't worn for at least six months I can still smell Oud isphan really beautiful deep that shows that used high quality oils in this magnificent fragrance...

nadia.c

Music has the power to change your mood, movies can change your mentality, but could a perfume change your personality?

The rose and the oud are like a tango couple, a passionate series of manifestations of each interacting beautifully and harmoniously with one another.

When I wear this I feel quite powerful: I could be a succesful CEO, multibrand owner, a man, a woman, an ambitious personna with a huge amount of thirst for success. It couldn't be more different from reality in fact.

Most people hate it; manure is their first reaction when I ask them for their opinion. It's a middle-aged man's perfume according to some and as a female of 35, I'm totally fine with it. Each to their own!

olfactoryfan

Tried Oud Ispahan for the first time recently.

I instantly recognised its olfactory doppelgänger: DSquared²'s Potion Royal Black. Identical to my humble shnoz.

Plus, when you consider Potion Royal Black's monumental performance and projection, you may possibly reconsider paying a premium for Dior's offering.

nordhaul

BEAST.
I do not get compliments on This Frag
and I KNOW you all 'be' smelling it. ;D
Because it's too much and not suitable
on me.
But I still profusely enjoy catching whiffs
from The bottle from time to time 🌹. A
MUST HAVE as well as a NEVER wear
for me.

demontia17

As a female i can't wear this fragrance its too strong for i like sweet fruity girly perfumes. But on a man its just so sexy and classy this is the perfect scent for a real man who knows what he wants in life.

humairum

One of my all time favorite rose-oud scents. Fresh rose on a deep and dark Oud base, smells a bit animalic to me too in the dry down.
The strength and longevity is so impressive you just need a few drops, one to two sprays max to last 24 + hours.
I got a 10 mL bottle and have been using it for 2+ years no joke, well not on a daily basis obviously but it lasts long and worth every cent.

ILikePeeps

Absolutely amazing fragrance; similar backbone to Leather Oud. A nice thick rose animalic combo. I think I read somewhere that (supposedly) the oud aspect in this is modeled after the smoke of oud chips burning; rather than the oil smell itself (un-burnt). Powerful stuff.
What's funny is people saying this has been reformulated... where's the proof? Coloring differences may simply be due to dye amount, time, oxidation, etc.
The formula code(!) has remained the same since at least 2014.

2014 to 2019 is still 08840/A.

The ONLY difference I've found is that the 'mini' sample bottles are 08840/E instead of 08840/A. I'm assuming the 'E' vs 'A' is simply bottle size.

4Y02 = 08840/E (mini)
5X1A1 = 08840/A
6T4A1 = 08840/A
7N4A1 = 08840/A
7Z02A1 = 08840/A
8B02 = 08840/E (mini)
8H02A1 = 08840/A
8J01A1 = 08840/A
9B01 = 08840/A
9G01 = 08840/E (mini)

Try not to live in fear. Enjoy this awesome frag. :)

Edit: Oct 2023 update... so the original formula is '06784/A' based off of my 2012 (2N1E batch code) bottle.

So formula code goes:
2012 (original): 06784
~2014-2022+: 08840
Dior's website is still showing 08840, so maybe it hasn't changed since 2014. If that's the case, people screaming reform and 'shadow of its former self' (I hate that saying) are full of doo-doo.

mikecinmanc

I thought it was repulsive when I first smelled it on a tester strip in a department store. Forgot about it until I met it again as part of a Dior sample set. Wore it on my skin, and instantly fell in love. This has rocketed to the top of my fragrance hall of fame. It smells so deep, sensual, the facets are constantly shifting giving you different experiences over the course of the day......and it does last a full day. Some people are a bit sniffy about this and say it's only an oud perfume for novices. Well who cares when it smells as divine as this.

Solar Girl

Oud Ispahan is refined, classy and so Europian. A middle East theme in a French way, for western Market I'd say. It is as airy and fresh as oud-rose can be. Still with amazing performance, but not the thick, heavy oud, sweet or suffocating, not even close.
A masterpiece from Dior, it carries the Dior class and I would like to own a bottle even tho I'm not an oud fan.

Bottle from - 2016

In my opinion, Oud Ispahan by Dior is one of the best entries to the world of Oud & perfumery on this planet. This is easily (as mentioned before) an excellent benchmark Oud perfume.

This perfume is a story about two clashing souls, an oud and a wet rose.
My specific bottle was more oud forward and the rose leans more wet than jammy or clerical. The oud here is very well blended into patch and labdanum. There is no skankiness thankfully.

Oud Ispahan is really in my eyes Christian Dior's display of the house's muscles when it comes to oud in perfumery and is a must-sample for all.. I don't find any similarities with Diptyque.

I associate this with colors of white, red, gold, light greens.

Longevity - 10/10(10+ hours)
Silage/Projection - 10/10(heavy projection and silage for the first 3-4 hours)
Versatility 9 (wear on evenings in hot weather, would be cloying otherwise)
Price to quality 11/10 (amazing when you consider economics that you can get from a 250ml bottle.)

Compliments - I don't know
Scent - 10/10. Nothing new is happening here, so I can't say it's a masterpiece or if it's the next big thing since sliced bread. However, the perfume is doing something simple to the best of its ability.

I can't smell any Saffron in this perfume. This is a positive as it takes away from "typical" rose oud vibes.

Jackcarter92

A very long lasting scent, beautifully made. Smoky, Rose and Oud. Nothing groundbreaking with notes of course, however this smells so natural and smooth. If Money had a smell, this would be it. Sillage is good, longevity is insane. I see people saying this is weaker because of the reformulation, if that’s the case the Original would have been horrendously strong For me as this is already a monster.

The Sillage is amazing in the fact, that you can be finding yourself not knowing it’s there then it creeps up and punches you in the face. “I’m still here!!”

SetshabaC

Luxury in a bottle!! Sensual and seductive.. The rose and the oud, OMG... I get 24 hours of this monster, I absolutely love this. Mr Demachy you are a legend

Dr.Amirpasha

Great oudy fragrance , nothing skanky I would say oud Ispahan is *the* benchmark Oud perfume for anyone entering the world of ouds.”

suzu93

This is a very strong animalic oud. Not for the fainthearted! I adore oud and rose combinations, hence why I blind bought this. Boy did I regret it. It is too masculine for me, and I can appreciate oud - but this is just too too heavy almost dirty. I couldn’t pull it off, and I guess my nose isn’t trained for these kind of fragrances. I’m not hating on the fragrance, I can appreciate the work but it just doesn’t work on me.

J.aomeke

It’s pleasant, the presence of rose defines it. The quality of its components makes it a complete niche... it’s okay to say it’s enormous and doesn’t suit every outfit...
It’s something you wear when you’re about to pull a James Bond or Ethan hunt cruise... killing people’s olfaction in a undercover mood!

RamsesII

So after extensive testing, the new oud Ispahan is actually better and more pleasing to most people than the vintage one. They fixed it. The oud is less fecal and it’s less animalic than 2012-2015 bottles. A lot of people complained about the older bottles being too much.

The new bottles are still beastly and they are the same scent, just less animalic, less fecal and you should appreciate that.

The difference in performance is minimal and not significant.

tayyabforyouth

Bar none, the greatest rose-oud combo ever made in my opinion. Extremely opulent sweet Bulgarian rose with a beautiful slightly animalic oud, and saffron in the background (and maybe a hint of labdanum). That's basically all I get from it, and it sounds simple but something about this is way better than any other rose-oud pairing I've smelled. Maybe the creaminess of the rose. Perhaps the delicacy of how all the materials are blended.

And it's insanely powerful. 1 tiny spray is gigantic in presence. A 25 ml decant will probably last you forever, let alone the 250 ml bottles that these are often in.

5/5

parissa1

This is by now the most beautiful oud fragrance I ever smelled. So nicely blended. Oud is usually not for everyone and can't really be considered as seductive. But this one really is sexy. This smells like black Amex.
You smell it still after 5 days. I had also a sample of purple oud of Dior and it's not even close to oud Isphahan.

Voice-Of-God

Sweet, smokey, rose and oud. Sensual. Seductive. Superb!!!

...but 250 ml costs £290.00. :(

If you can't afford Oud Ispahan, then it might be worth your while trying Oud Touch by Franck Olivier. TMN it's 90-95% close to Oud Ispahan and only costs a paltry £23.00.

At that price, you can't really grumble, can you! ;)

hermes_hermes

Apart from the sour, overripe fruity blast the upon application, Oud Ispahan goes on to become extremely classy due to the ethereal floral notes with perfectly measured amount of sweetness against a backdrop of resins.

It is indeed a smooth composition that's meant to be enjoyed from afar; but if you nose-rape it, you are unapologetically met by the intensity of the faecal oud, and feel violated.

A showcase of avan-garde perfumery.

u2u

Purchased a 2018 bottle with some reservations given reviews indicating reformulation and weak performance. Oud Ispahan in the current formulation packs a big punch lasting all evening, over night, and through a thorough shower. It borders on too strong and too tenacious. Two full sprays is beast mode for a user who likes Big bold scents. Base is very similar to Oud Palao, opening is cleaner, brighter, a better per ml value. The positive reviews here are spot on. A worthy Oud accord style scent with great performance. Purchase with caution.

ghadaalboghdadi

Got a pre-reformulation full bottle.
It IS sexy.
It IS oud. The medicinal skanky type.
It IS also rose. Nectar-ish dropping one.
It is bold, unapologetic, demanding and imposing.
It is a fragrance that could easily wear you.
No softness about it.
It does smell expensive, in a tyrannical way. Not in a refined Noble way. That's where the sex appeal comes from.
It says "I will get you and you'll learn to love it". This perfume is not designed to touch with Grace but to grab and conquer.

I'm not into that, not for now.
I need more mellowness and grace.

I think I prefer to smell this on a man, rather than to wear it myself.

Freedomlover

An absolutely deep intense oud rose combination ridiculous longevity and silage especially on clothes in talking you can smell it a full year later as I sprayed it on my summer jackets and you could still smell it a year later after a winter hung up on the wardrobe. I instantly was captivated by this fragrance years ago so glad I stocked up on 2 extra 250ml bottles even though I haven't even got through a quarter of my first bottle as 2 sprays with this fragrance are more than enough.... If they have reformulated this Fragrance its a crying shame.

Perfumelover15

Elegant, deep, sensual, rich, exotic. Oud Ispahan is all that and then some. And this sexy unique base note...! I love it! One of the best orientals on the market.Rose oud done in an elegant French way. Of course the first version was the best. 10/10

1guy1dog3cats

One can't help but feel like king/queen for a day when wearing Oud Ispahan. Or rather, days (plural), as this stuff has a half-life just short of Chernobyl's fallout.

Yes, OI is all about the oud, but I'd argue it's even more about the rose. A tower of oud, all there to support its pinnacle, the rose. In that regard, I mentally swipe the name of a Serge Lutens scent, replacing it here: Sa majesté, la rose. A scent both regal and triumphant.

But, please, dear royalty, do be kind to your subjects and spritz lightly.

i__asn

The perfume used to be great, but with people wearing it 24/7 (especially in middle east), it became boring.
This perfume is good ONLY in winter, and definitely NOT a summer perfume.

111ImNumber1

This is not as good as it used to be. The formulation has changed. It has been watered down. Sad

Silver7777

Beautiful use of Ispahan rose with accorded oud...Simply put this is another Damask rose with oud attar for the western side of the world. No need to really talk notes, it's just a variation on an old perfume profile, it smells like what you'd expect it to. It's my favorite of the Dior Maison line.

MrEleven1181

Love this fragrance its beautiful. Very very long lasting and stays on clothes for multiple washes also the sillage on this is amazing, its one of my top 10 fragrances of all time.

Update my initial review was of a 2017 bottle i have just bought another one on September 2019 and they have totally killed one of my all time favourite fragrances. Scent is still the same but instead of upto 24 hours performance i am now getting 4-6 hours and for sillage original was true beast mode but todays one is very very poor. Dior you have killed a once amazing fragrance

melville

opening smells like lipstick,an array of cosmetics..
the dry down to me smells like a sweat smelling scented person.
please please don't blind buy

dan138zig

If there's one perfume that embodies the word "sexy", this is the one, at least based on the few fragrances I have tried. Love this so much. Now to decide whether to get the full bottle of this or Oud Palao...

Ivanus

Fragrance -Oud Ispahan Christian Dior
Bottle from - 2015

Oud Ispahan opens on my skin with a pungent, loud, dark and challenging labdanum mingled with jammy rose and slightly animalic oud laying on top of a bit earthy patchouli.
As time goes by,loud and animalic vibes fade away and we have just the perfect harmony between rose and oud with a nice touch of a bit creamy and warm sandalwood and earthy patchouli. At this point,Oud Ispahan reminds me of a morning after a wild night.
Oud Ispahan has some similarities to Oud Palao by Diptyque and Blessing Silence by The House of Oud.

Longevity - 10/10(10+ hours)
Silage/Projection - 9,5/10(heavy projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent's evolution)
Weather -best in autumn and winter
Age - 32+
Compliments(low-medium-high) - medium
Scent - 9/10

Main notes according to me - rose, oud, labdanum, patchouli, sandalwood.

The drydown is woody, creamy and moderatly sweet and I get some -sandalwood,rose,oud and patchouli.

Emotions - morning after a wild night, dark vibe elegance, sophisticated, mysterious.

Occasion -Perfect for special occasions, nights out and semi-formal events.

Don't blind buy this one.Try before you buy.

hels

A light and dry oud. Must be the patchouli and cedar creating that dryness.
A faint and powdery rose always peeking through.
I’m not getting massive sillage, but it does offer very good longevity.
Even so, I suggest you apply sparingly so not to suffocate yourself.
A mature sexy fragrance that I think is more feminine than masculine.
Not sure it’s worth $300+ but it’s certainly a lovely scent.

Freedomlover

@redfordead you need the batch serial codes my friend then you can put them into check fresh and see when the juice was manufactured. The bottles to my knowledge are exactly the same so you have to get the serial codes and check.

Redfordead1001

Is there anyway of telling this new formulation from the orginal one in terms of bottle differences? Like the CD written on top of the cap slightly differently, aswell as major performance differences and overall smell?

Any insight would be massively appreciated!

Present day... (Edit)

Bottle from Dec'17... Absolute stunner and performance levels very much to my liking, that seem to be dieing off with modern releases/reforms.

Lasts a long time on skin and even longer on clothes but on the skin is where this fragrance truly shines. Almost get a Kouros type drydown on my fragrance eating skin.

Its simply one of the best fragrances ever created, this formulation at least.

One of the strongest and most long lasting fragrances in my collection of hard hitters smashing it straight out of the park on the back end of a home run...!

Bravo Monsior Demachy of Maison Christian Dior.

Ifra = Trash

dhvni

this smells a little masculine for my liking, females who are fond of deep-heavy fragrances can give this a try, if you wear this heavy handed and are passing by someone, they will definitely be hit by the strong fragrance! this can give headache to the ones having sensitive nose. females fond of fruity, flirty fragrances stay away from this one!

cranky137

Oud Ispahan might not be THE oud, but is definitely a Classic oud that anyone interested in oud frags should try one day.

It is a slightly smoky oud/rose scent, very classy of it's kind, with very strict lines about what's in. No sweetness, very unisex. It projects and represents confidence, where there no Place for a denial.

A beast mode sillage, as many said, with excellent projection. Not for everyone in the office, so be careful. I wonder whether there is any person that has EVER finished a 250 ml bottle? I am happy with my 5ml decant.

mewakwon

for me the oud note in this is to strong for me

i prefer noir de noir more because easy to wear
and friendly to crowd than oud ispahan

but if u love the oud note

This is reminiscent of Noir de Noir by Tom Ford without the chocolate. I prefer this Oud Ispahan from Christian Dior. It smells like what an Oud fragrance should. Only one spray though, this things projects like crazy.

One of my Signature Fragrance.
Managed to secure a 250ml bottle (2012 batch) 6 months back. It's such an overall beast mode fragrance that I feel 2 sprays to the neck is already overkill.
This bottle is going to last my lifetime.
Love it!

Basic Arabic style rose-oud combo...nothing special.

A really compelling try from a western nose to wrap up an oud bouquet, very well done.

It starts harsh, very oudy, sharp, a little bit dirty and metallic, not sweet like most of other western made oud perfumes, but not flat as Jacomo oud (Which is not bad at all, a very unique take on oud). Very little sweetness here to avoid making it bitter. After 10 minutes you can start smelling those pretty whiffs of rose and amber and patchouli. It's more of an oriental oud fougere is there is such a thing.

It's addictive honestly, i can't stop smelling my hand, but its those type of perfumes that need time to grow on you, it's hard to love this instantly. More or an acquired taste.

If you expect this to be an oud rose combo, this isn't.

Last week I tested my first fragrance from Dior's Collection Privée, Balade Sauvage. And although I did enjoy it, it didn't quite fulfill my sky-high expectations of this exclusive line, which made me just a little less eager to try my sample of Oud Ispahan than I had been. But now that I have worn it for a couple of days, I'm glad to say the (slight) lowering of expectations was unnecessary: man, does this one ever deliver!
If this really is Iran in a bottle, as I've read more than once, that must be a wonderful-smelling country indeed...Both the rose note and the oud note are done exquisitely here - in fact, I've always been rather indifferent to oud, but this one made me realize that I'm actually really into it (just like everyone else, only about a decade later!). It's definitely a luxurious scent, in the sense that it's the kind that can really make your day: divine scent, high quality, great performance. It has a definite presence and lasts all day, but without being overpowering: it's more of a fall/winter scent, but it wasn't too much even on this warm summer day. The development on the skin over the course of the day is very nice as well: it really packs a (delicious) punch in the opening, and it dries down a lot softer - sweeter, but also more sexy or even skanky. I love it to the point of thinking the high price reasonable, which says a lot; better start saving up!

I enjoy many oud fragrances, even those of the skanky/powerhouse/animalic/too masculine variety. Dior Oud Ispahan is incredibly strong, powerful and impactful, which is just the way I like ‘em. It projects magnificently and stays on my dry skin for at least 12 hours. Aside from oud, the strongest note is a lush, powdery rose in full bloom plus a sweet hippie patchouli. The entire experience of wearing Oud Ispahan is like finding yourself in an oriental bazaar on a hot summer day, when the air is filled with scents of aromatic oils and sticks, flowers, overripe fruits, incense, tobacco and sugar-soaked sweets.
The only problem with this type of scent is that, alas, most people don’t enjoy it as much as I do; especially those who consume the olfactory diet of dilluted Iso ESuper and artificial sugarbombs might find this extremely offputting. That’s the reason why I’ll never purchase Oud Ispahan; I mean, what’s the point in buying such a precious, expensive fragrance, only to enjoy it in your own private chambers, in order to avoid offending some oversensitive souls (i.e. their noses)?!

Freedomlover

@rola.asad brother that's a heavy price for this stunningly beautiful fragrance in my opinion the best oud and rose combination. You will love this fragrance I hope you purchased from a reputable seller as there are Russian fakes all over the place.

rola.asad

@Marco Chau I know I didn’t get the best deal, but!!! Where I live “in Palestine” these type of fragrances (private blends) are soooo hard to find, I usually get my perfumes in a really good price, but this one I found it by chance in a shop and couldn’t argue about the price even though my eyes popped out when the salesman told me how much does it cost!!! But I had to buy it!!
Aaand I really really love it <3

Marco Chau

Where were you, @rola.asad, that costed you so much for a 250ml bottle? It's only selling for around US$320 even in Hong Kong. I sure hope that you really love this fragrance as you paid almost double of what it was selling elsewhere.

All I can say about this magical fragrance is OMG!! A lady used to come in the shop where I worked and she used to fill this salon with this rich aroma, had to ask her what she was wearing, purchased it the next payday (as not cheap).. where ever I go people ALWAYS ask what I’m wearing.. I spray on 2-4 sprays in the morning and can still smell it in the late evening... wears into a beautiful warm rich fragrance which last forever absolutely love this smell, definitely in my top ten list ....

This is some amazing juice. Very deep oud and rosy note that lasts an eternity. Makes you feel very confident and powerful. A must have!

I hope that true, since I am definitely planning on getting a bottle of this beautiful perfume.

Spending over $300 on this juice, cross fingers “I hope to survive this month”!
as I’m still testing Narciso’s “rose musc”, and a new Oud fragrance from a niche house ´which I can’t remember its name’ I will wait to give it a fair judgment, the issue is I prefer oud fragrances in winter, and it’s getting warmer here!!
But I mean I will force myself to love it for whatever it is, I’m stuck with a 250 ml bottle, so I have no option folk!!!

Oud Ispahan plays a love song and its about Rose and Oud.This is such a romantic fragrance. This is a masterful blend of rose and Oud. An absolute power house of romance, sexiness, opulent and silk. This is when east and west get married and become an Oriental Western Romance Love Story.
An ode to Oud blended with Labdanum Absolute, Oud Ispahan elegantly affirms its oriental identity. The enchanting encounter between the woody strength of Oud and the power of Labdanum Absolute, tempered by Damascus Rose. This fragrance captures the Orient. The Oud is strong in this one and as a matter fact it reminds a bit on Leather Oud by this house but this is softer and silkier but they both have the same Oud DNA.
Rose lovers this one is for you!
