Poison Girl Unexpected by Dior is a Amber Vanilla fragrance for women. Poison Girl Unexpected was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is François Demachy. Top notes are Ginger, Blood Orange and Lemon; middle note is Damask Rose; base notes are Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Hazelnut and Cashmeran.

At the beginning of 2018, the house of Dior launches Poison Girl Unexpected, the new flanker of Poison Girl fragrance that came out in January 2016 as the new Poison generation. The new edition  is announced as surprisingly fresh and sparkling interpretation.

Poison Girl Unexpected is an edition with a large dose of ginger. The composition is a fresh, floral and spicy one. Ginger’s bitter freshness and tinglingness is mixed with blood orange accord at the top, leading to the signature part of the composition - Damask Rose in the heart and vanilla in the base.

Together with the new fragrance, Dior will present a new fromat and a way of applying perfumes – a 20 ml of Roller Pearl. Dior Poison Girl Unexpected is available as a 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Sherbet in a bottle. It's fun, fizzy, and sweet with a creamy kick. I really like the addition of ginger as it's not an ingredient you see often in perfumes. It works deliciously well with the vanilla and citrus notes which gives it some more depth and warmth to avoid the typical juvenile scent that tends to fall flat with other 'fun' perfumes

archerries

It's fine - ginger, blood orange and lemon exactly. Effervescent and sweet like ginger ale and lemonade. Otherwise uninteresting and reminds me of wet wipes.

jeannebelmondo

They're discontinuing this one so stock up while you still can

Mooluna

Love you i like citrus+vanilla things

ilianavelinova

I have been using this perfume for a little bit over a year- on and off, I truly enjoy wearing it. I have forgotten about it as I got into new fragrance, and I came back to it just a week ago- its winter and its so so lovely and sophisticated without being heavy! I am almost over 2/3 of 100 ml bottle. The scent is truly hypnotic for me! I can't get enough of it :). It actually reminds me a lot of Cacharel's Gloria- they both have vanilla, Tonka and Hazelnut - very comforting with the added freshness of ginger. So lovely! I recently was looking to get myself a replacement just in case it gets discontinued. My favorite from Dior's Poison line.

Julipet

I have been meaning to test this for a long time and recently bought a bottle at a very nice price from a girl who didn’t like it well enough. I don’t know if I would be so smitten with this scent if I bought it at full price at the store, but smitten I am.

This is everything I expected! Sweet and gourmand like Poison Girl EDT, yet with added zest and fizziness from ginger. Lovely hazelnut accent makes it unique, interesting, with a slightly autumnal mood. Not as powdery as the original Poison Girl – and it’s somehow a good thing. I love everything I can smell here – don’t see much development, just enjoy it all the way through.

The craziest thing: after some time, close to the evening, when I get a waft from what I spray in the morning on my skin, this citrus-rose-vanilla combo makes me think of Midnight Poison. Without that heady, dark, mysterious patchouli, of course – but that transparent sweet nectar. For me, this is the quintessence of the Poison line, and it’s def there in the Poison Girl Unexpected. My new favorite – for daytime at least.

sinervium

fresh citrusy and a bit fizzy at the start! mellows to a warm gourmand after 20 minutes on my skin. homely and very fall and wintery

MaxieF

This is fizzy, cola like. It smells delicious with that ginger and a hint of that poison girl DNA. Performs way better than than poison girl EDT. It projects on clothing for about 4 hours. There's no detectable rose in my opinion. It smells like a ginger cola soda.

RaggedyAnn

First the blast of citrus and very green with no roses on the rose bush. Then comes the ginger but bitter ginger ale on me. Morphed into something sinister I never want to experience again. Bye bye Bottle of Unexpected.

Cherubina

Unexpectedly disappointed. Dominated by ginger and rose.

Tropicat28

The ginger and the lemon make this work in the heat. I get good performance, maybe it just works better in higher temperatures (as I am wearing this June in the Carolinas). Although I wouldn’t wear it in the highest heat because I can’t do too sweet in the heat, I do think it would work because of the lemon and ginger. There is a heavy dose of ginger when it dries down the vanilla balances it out but it is still there. I had a coworker friend try it out as we were talking about how her boyfriend has a good nose and will tell her a perfume doesn’t go with her chemistry. The next day she told me her boyfriend loved it and as soon as he smelt it her told her she smelled like a dirty little hmm that wants to get hmmmed. Is that the vibe it gives off to men? 🧐 😂 ❤️🔥 😳

Icarel

The only thing I see that is unexpected here is the performance. I wanted to like it as it has all the qualities we could expect from a flanker: the Poison Girl DNA, in particular the EDT, with an obvious lemon and little ginger twist. Nevertheless and unfortunately it doesn’t last more than 30 min on my skin and maybe a bit more on clothes. It is indeed a fresh citusy interpretation of the OG Poison Girl but overall it is so disappointing and not what I usually experience with Dior. This is a body mist not an EDT. I will overspray as much as I can this summer to empty my bottle and would def not recommend, unless you like or need a really light skin scent; something super discreet. In that case, it would be perfect because it still smells good (dont get me wrong) and def would please citrusy scents lovers.

Lakreutter

What a disappointment. My grandma wore the og poison and k thought it would be a nice nod to her to wear a newer, younger version of this. But there’s something in this I HATE. I love orange, vanilla and almond. I can tolerate rose and anything with Cashmere or similar I LOVE. Maybe it was the ginger? On the test strip this was so intriguing. On my skin I got spice and Dunkin donut hazelnut super fake super sweet artificial syrup. Sucks bc I blind bought 2 accidentally and I can’t return them.

TheNyx2003

If this one smells mouthwash , so possibly it's the luxuriest mouthwash that ever created , i see some medicine leaning in the opening but it goes away after just 1 min ! So it's kinda unfair that saying this one smells like mouthwash , it's sweet_vanillic , ballanced spices (ginger) , and it's a little strange but i didn't get the rose but orchid ! 😅 even there is no orchid in the notes (or maybe something reminds me orchid) and i felt no citruses which is a good thing to me honestly
In over all it's like a sugary_floral in a really good way
It's a youthful type of scent
IMO it could be a good choice for a young girl that is looking for a signature scent ; you can wear it all seasons

Featherblossom

I blind bought this because I like the original 'Poison Girl' EDP and was intrigued by the ginger note. I'm so glad I did!

The added spiciness of the ginger adds warmth and intrigue to the scent. I don't get as much citrus either, which is great because the overly strong citrus top notes were the one thing I didn't like from the original.

Sillage is not as strong as the original so it's not just an evening scent and could be worn all day, anywhere. It's almost as long-lasting too!

pristrm

love this perfume. mom got it as a gift, didnt like it and gave it to me. such a nice sweet scent, isnt too boring or overpowering, great signature

_NicoleNonya

I'm a die hard vintage OG Poison fan. Due to IFRA reformulations, I continue to hunt down vintages.
I found this perfume browsing through another poster's shelf. The notes are playful but synthetic.
If in the air conditioning, easy to wear in the spring. If you choose to wear in heat, only put 2 sprays back of knee caps max.
The hazelnut is prominent. The citrus top notes are quite faint. I IMMEDIATELY associated this scent with another beloved fragrance, Lover Dose Red Kiss by Diesel which is what I refer to as Valentine's Day in a bottle.
I believe anyone who owns these two scents could do a comparison and know right away, these two could be sisters.
I believe it's full bottle worthy and does last longer than Lover Dose Red Kiss however both do have synthetic vibe from first spritz.
The vanilla is more prominent in PG Unexpected. Over all, I would repurchase. Like for me.

LisaMari

Has the same plastic doll note of the other Poison Girls but this time with a gingery open and a milk chocolate dry down that pairs lovely with the doll note. Overall has an innocent vibe and reminds me of Shalimar Ode a la Vanille sur Route du Mexique.. but better, surprisingly. I like it.

bbyevrm

im in love😭 its like orange orchard on the heaven.

Creamy_ambrette

I am so glad I bought a 3.4 bottle of this!! I love poison girl both the EDT and EDP this has the depth of PG EDP but with the added kick of ginger to the aromatic orange notes! The hazelnut is what I believe creates the depth here in place of PG EDP Tonka. It’s fun, sexy and definitely gourmand! It last hours on my skin and days on my clothes! So far I love everything from the Poison line- I haven’t gotten my nose on tendre or midnight but HP EDP is my next pick up and Pure Poison is gorgeous! I have a sample and it’s full bottle worthy for me!

saho93

Except for the original Poison—from the 80s, not the reformulated one—I like this one the best in the line. The slight ginger note adds an extra dimension.

Hypnotic, which seemed to be quite popular, does not work for me.

Pure is also not as good, especially with a soapy scent which makes it a bit harsh and somewhat screechy.

I like the Girl flanker the best. Unexpected is well formulated.

chimidoro

I wouldn't change the original Poison Girl for the world. I love it. But it's a welcome respite, from the strength of the original, to discover this little gem.

I smell a fresh ginger, resinous benzoin, the listed "hazelnut" and I still get the strong vanilla of the original here, but the volume is turned down and it lacks the concurrent tonka. It is less sweet (being nuttier), softer and brighter than the original. The (blood) orange is more realistic and less candied.
I link it more to the original than I can to the original's EDT variant, even with the stronger orange here that relates it to the EDT. The EDT of Poison Girl is much fresher in its orangey and citrussy style, and it loses the strong, sweet vanilla nuance, where this doesn't. This one has some fizzy effervescence (ginger, spice) and it is very creamy (benzoin).

The spiciness and fresh ginger are really the stars of the show for be and they're what makes me keep coming back for more. That fuzzy spiced ginger.

As most others here have noted, this is weaker than the original. It really is. It is less lasting and it's far softer. Much more of an intimate scent.

Also, the base here is actually closer to Prada Candy than it is to Poison Girl.

It smells sort of like caramel popcorn into the base.
In fact, the base is similar to a scent that many considered to be a Prada Candy dupe, Mirage Daydream by Oriflame.

Thankfully the longevity of this is not as bad as I'd anticipated so I'm really glad about that. But I do kinda wish the biting fresh ginger in the opening lasted longer.

To some degree I still prefer the original, strength being a factor there, but I'm very happy to have this one as well because it's so unique. Especially so, given that this may become harder to find soon due to the discontinuation of the Poison Girl range. Really sad about that!

Just want to add that I purchased this thanks to the one person in reviews here who noted that this put them in mind of Lebkuchen.
This is so true. ♥️
If there was a more prominent dose of cinnamon in here, this really would be exact.

I absolutely love this.
One of the best blind buys ever for me.

BoToi

It starts out with a spicy, tangy ginger note and quickly turns into that kind of juicy, sweet, vibrant citrus blood orange and lemon (which i feel more like some kind of berry). I love the warm, cozy, a bit sweet vanilla and tonka bean lingering at the end but the projection and longevity are the biggest knockoff for me. You really have to sniff your wrist in order to smell anything after 10-15 minutes. I like the smell but it’s not enough for me to repurchase this version

strawberrystar

I like this, but this is definitely not a love. To be honest I dislike the opening, it must be the ginger, which is disappointing since I love ginger notes in other fragrances. But the ginger in this reminds me of when I am cooking a stir-fry with ginger, it is so weird to smell like this. Anyway the sharp and weird ginger note disappears on the skin after a few minutes and then I can fully enjoy the scent. However the ginger note I dislike stays much longer on clothes so I smell it longer. So the fragrance now smells good where I sprayed it on my hand, but I still smell the ginger everywhere else I sprayed because the ginger note stays in the fabric of my shirt. I hope it will disappear after a while!
I think I will try wearing this in the spring with short-sleeved shirts so that when I spray inside my elbows it won't transfer on my clothes.

osakinuit

I’m a sucker when it comes to sweet, cozy scents that make you feel good whenever you can smell them and it’s always love on the first sniff and this one is definitely one of them. Such a gorgeous, sparkly scent that I keep on thinking about these days. Someone said that it’s like a fizzy sour candy and I think it’s a perfect description of it. Makes you either wanna eat it or take a bath in it. It takes about 30mins-1h for it to become a skin scent for me (which makes me so sad cause I wish I could keep on smelling it on myself while I’m doing something) and then the skin scent stays on for about 2-3h before it completely disappears. Wish it was better especially because I expected something better after reading the reviews cause scents are usually strong on my skin, even EDT, so it was a bit disappointing :( but the beautiful scent makes up for it.

KaliDurga

I'm slightly addicted to this and I don't know why. I'm reminded of the L'Interdit DNA. A sweet floral with pear, although I don't see it in the notes. The opening is beautiful. The ginger is subtle but noticeable. What I like most is the dry down, which starts happening after about an hour. A lovely floral scent skin scent+ that makes you smell good but not obnoxious; not like you're trying too hard. That's why I love this.

sozyoldas

Although the original one is overhyped, this is the fragrance that should be discussed! Somehow, my nose doesn't really get the smell of original pg, and I heard the same comment from other people too. Well, Poison Girl Unexpected is absolutely warm, seductive, fun, chirpy, and thank god, sweet in an elegant way, unlike other popular fragrances at the market. For me, it has the similar vibes with Guerlain's Robe Noire. Perfect for the fall/ spring. You can imagine a girlboss with all black suit and Prada glasses wears this, sipping a Martini after a long day at work, or a 18 year old girl who has full of glitter on her face on the way of a music festival! Gorgeous <3<3

EspressoAddict

As much as I disliked the original, i have to admit this one is quite nice! Spocy and sweet, a tasty little gourmand that tickles the senses and amuses one's nose.

Once again i get no rose from it, but I won't complain. The center of attention is the spicy, sparkly ginger, which is accompanied by citruses. There's plenty of vanilla, which sweetens it and rounds it all up into a sum, but it's not the focal.point and it's not overbearing at all.

Like Poison Girl, it is quite linear, with the only change being a slight elevation of the spiciness of the ginger after some time, which makes it a tad more spicy and a tad less sweet, but that's all there is in regards to it. It has way better projection than Poison Girl, can be smelled by someone standing next to you (and perhaps arm's length away), and it lasts quite a bit. The scent mainly goes away after four to five hours, but the spicy skinscent it leaves behind lasts for many hours afterwards. Just a slightly woody, spicy scent, nothing special, but pleasant enough and hints at remains of shower gel or perfume which gives an impression of being generally well groomed even though you've just pulled a rough all nighter. It's rather safe for the general public, and can be worn in most places without being too much or too little.

I think it makes a nice cozy and playful autumn scent. I just love the spiciness of ginger for autumn. Nina rouge by Nina Ricci is another spicy gourmand which i happen to be in love with, so I'm thinking there's a good chance if you like one you may like the other as well, so give it a sniff first chance you get! I can definitely see them side by side on other people's shelves and not just mine.

Nocciola23

This is a truly delicious gingerbread scent. Although it's sweet and gingery, it somehow manages to also be sexy and spicy.
Wearing it to bed in winter is like being wrapped in a fur blanket by the fireplace.
Sillage and longevity are average, but not bad. I'd say it's a great perfume to have in your collection now that it's discontinued.

amelia.g

This is a pretty run of the mill ginger-almond fragrance. It's gourmand sweet, but not rich; the citrus notes stay around long enough to retain the freshness until the far drydown, which is a very light vanilla-tonka combo.

I'd say it veers quite young, and it suits warmer seasons better than cooler ones. Could be a daytime alternative if you're a Poison Girl superfan, but it's most definitely not worth the astronomical prices on Ebay, now that it's been discontinued. Even more so because it has significant performance issues: sillage and projection are nonexistent; it has average lasting power (about 5h), but it's a skin scent from pretty much the get go.

Koningin

Longevity and sillage are piss poor.

Peaches77

I love the citrus vanilla combo that this gives. Very feminine. Great daytime scent. My boyfriend likes it too. Lol.

Catnipple

Reminds me so much of Twilly d'Hermès Eau Ginger but with the dry down being the OG poison girl

twiztidladii

None of these notes are listed but honestly to me it smells like a Peppery, Peppermint Salt Water Taffy with Licorice. It’s so strange and I’m unsure how I actually feel about it.

emilycmitchem

The best Posion.
She’s luxurious Christmas time happiness.
I agree with other reviewers that it smells cold. It reminds me of a frosted winter morning, and that’s the exact time I would pine for this fragrance.
There’s just nothing like the spicy mix of ginger, zesty blood orange, rose, and vanilla.

9/10.

siucra

Easily the worst of the Dior Poison range, imo- sickly sweet, literally to the point of giving me headaches. Definitely feels like something targeted towards a younger female demographic, I cant really imagine someone over the age of 25 wearing this? It’s very overpowering and subsequently has good silage so that’s one pro anyway!

WinterSneeuw

I smell so much citrusness in this when i first spray it. Smells just like blood orange juice imo. I bought this with a friend of mine and she said that it smelled cold, which i agree with.

emaltic

It was a blind buy for me and i regret it. Its nothing special, i barely use it. For that money you can buy something much much better.

MnM

It states this came out in both edp and etd, but search as I may, I never found the edp and so only own the edt. Iown several of these dior frags, this one being my least favorite. It starts out nice with the ginger, but then it looses it's oomph. Sillage and projection are poor considering the rest in the line.

KylieBooFace

I bought this on a whim and LOVE it. I have never tried the original Poison Girl EDP, but I have the EDT and love it. I may love Unexpected even more. On first spray, I get gingerbread and lemon (without smelling like potpourri, just amazing fluffy Poison Girl cake). I also love the iridescent touch on the bottle. I hope Dior brings this back into the permanent line.
Edit: the more I wear this, the more I actually prefer the EDT, though I would say say are 70-80% similar. Go figure. But I love the iridescent bottle nevertheless!

embomb

Of the Poison Girl line, this is the one I enjoy most by far, to the point where it's the only one worth owning, for me. The zesty ginger elevates the PG dna and gives it an unique spin. I also enjoy ginger in general so I was happy to have a sweet gourmand ginger fragrance for those days I'm in the mood for that. (And I have Twilly for woody floral ginger days and 5 O'Clock Eau Gingembre for those deep, dark, spicy ginger nights). I do agree with those who say the porformance isn't great, but I don't mind respraying after a few hours and getting that ginger zing again.

mina14

This smells exactly like the spa you go to thats in your hotel on holiday (not bad, definitely pleasant, just not interesting)

ReaganRose85

I have the large 3.4 oz bottle if anyone is interested!

carleycanton14

My husband loves this one, and it's probably my favorite out of all the Poison fragrances. Such a lovely fragrance but too bad projection isn't very good, so I don't really keep restocking it in my collection. I know some people say it doesn't work with their body chemistry and can come off alcohol smelling or like mouthwash.

aspirina

Fluffy cloud of sugared vanilla, tonka, orange rind, and spice! like a ginger biscuit that morphed into an orange vanilla cream /custard gelato. Little rose now and then, mild woody base. Long lasting but soft projection. Come and hug me type of scent.
Very romantic, super girly. Probably a bit juvenile for the name Poison, but that is the target it was intended for. No complains here. Compared to original Poison Girl, I just notice the extra spicy note, the rest seems basically the same at least to my nose. I have both versions, and probably if you have one you don't need the other.

Annelota

To me this smelled like a mouthwash or toothpaste. Haha very weird fragrance! I was staring at the bottle like this 👀

I wanted to buy it because of the good reviews, but I'm glad I smelled it and tried it on my skin first.

It was a no for me.

Sarm33345

Pretty sweet young candy
Last long on skin for 5 hours
Sillage is weak

jeanharlow

I love the fragrance and its one of the few that doesnt give me a headache, but i have to agree with others that the sillage and projection is nonexistent. This performs like a strong body spray and unfortunately, unless ive JUST sprayed it, no one can smell this on me even when i ask. It's a winter smell for me because the ginger and vanilla are very gingerbread-like and I have to admit that I'm probably the only person who gets to enjoy it. There is a tiny hint of the poison DNA in there, but the star is the ginger note. I unfortunately will probably not repurchase because of the longevity issue as it dissipates within the hour. It would be far too costly to keep having to spray this all day as was the issue with many natural perfumes I have enjoyed. I will probably replace this with Hypnotic poison when its empty.

LadyPear

I tried this after seeing positive reviews and a tiktokers raves of this characterizing it as a light and sensuous scent. I have to say I was so surprised that this truly has the profile and sophistication/complexity of a children's /tween perfume and is not at all suitable for women over 20. It smells like a very cheap body spray, fruity and forward top notes of orange starburst, not true citrus, were most dominant with and a mild remnant of vanilla. I found this to be the case for a tester, my skin, and fabric for short and long term dry down.

Veronika95

Very pleasant scent, non offensive and just likeable. It immediately reminded me of Alien Fusion, the red one, because of the ginger. For me it’s the main note I get. Very nice, good choice to office. It’s not cloying, it’s present but not too present if you know what I mean. I can see someone wearing that all year long.

CallMeT__

This is Poison Girl EDP made for hot days. I really get the ginger + orange in the opening. It’s very zingy and fresh upon first spray. It dries down to a vanilla and orange dessert on my skin, but a cold/refreshing dessert not a warm/thick dessert. I consider this fragrance slightly sexy, but it doesn’t last long at all, which is a shame given the price-point. I voted for Spring/Summer/Day because it’s perfect for a hot day, but only then in my opinion. It’s something I would wear for a daytime date, or to work. I like the fragrance, but after I use up my bottle, I won’t be repurchasing. There are other fragrances in this category that I enjoy more

Nicronomicon

I'm not actually sure why this is part of the PG line. Aside from the creamsicle note at the top (which lasts less than 5 minutes) all I get from this is a weak ginger and vanilla that doesn't last long, even when I double-layer it. It should have been called Ginger Water because after about 15 minutes all I get is faint ginger with a hint of vanilla...like if you brewed a weak ginger tea and added a touch of vanilla to it...and maybe not even that strong. If this was a stronger ginger/spice/vanilla I would probably like it. Dislike and recommend testing first to see if you get any longevity. The only upside is in about an hour I'll be able to put something else on.

ladyofwinter

d o e s n ' t l a s t
Beautiful scent but doesn't last. I was drawn to it by spicy and sweet notes. It is such a beautiful fragrance !!! However, the first blast is lovely, then nothing, then beautiful sweet vanilla and tonka bean ... Sadly, the projection is weak, sillage poor and lasts about three hours. Such a shame, since this is such a lovely scent.
EDIT: it lasts about 24 hrs on clothes

diane.sandra.van.jaarsveld

I love the scent!!! Smells like a sweet fruit salad. Longevity and projection is poor. I am a huge fan of the Poison Range, though this smells a lot like Amo Ferragamo (original). I would rather purchase the Amo Ferragamo as the projection and Longevity is much better.

AnaisLouLou

If you didn't like the marzipan note in Hypnotic Poison EDT, then this is a great alternative. It's been replaced by ginger. It's not as sweet as Hypnotic Poison EDT either, but it still has the same well crafted elegance. It's overall, a light-medium fragrance, not beast mode like Poison original.

A bit of spice and everything nice. This opens with the scent of mature ginger root, anise and rose. The DNA of Poison original is barely noticeable, I'd say, 10% of Poison original is in it. The initial opening takes you to the high of Poison original, but does not come down and taper off like it. Instead, it takes you somewhere else. It explores the ginger note, then dries down to orange, heavy sweet vanilla and caramel.

The opening and middle notes feel to me like a classic French perfume (I see myself, wearing this while shopping and lunching with friends in Paris) but, the dry down is definitely gourmand.

There's nothing overbearing or offensive in this perfume. It's understated.

I really enjoy this. Thinking about buying Poison Girl or a back-up of this one. I'm also, going to try layering this with Poison original. I hope that Dior makes an EDP version.

mimahirn

Of the Poison Girl line (cringe at that name, btw), this is the one I enjoyed the most. The ginger adds some spice, the orange brightens it up, and it’s not as flat or linear as PG EDP and PG EDT. It’s not a bad scent. Perhaps 15-year old me would’ve really enjoyed it. Sadly, 40’s-year-old me finds that it’s just too sweet. I own Guerlain Mon Exclusif, so if I want a caramel scent, that’s what I’d choose. On a positive note, PG Unexpected fades rather quickly, so if you’re put off by the loud caramel note, it quickly quiets down and fades into a rather soft skin scent. (Trying to put a positive spin on poor performance, what can I say, I’m an optimist.)

Nina14

I’ve got the rollerball and it’s amazing , I simply smell sugared oranges 😍, if that’s not divine then what is?

Whify

Oh wow! One of my favourite scents. A perfect combination of fruity, floral sweetness, vanilla and ginger. Wearable any time of year, day or night. I cannot get enough of this one. My only criticism is longevity and sillage, and therefore price, but the smell is worth it.

flo90

I love this!!! <3 <3 <3 Even more than the original version!!! However... Very quickly, after about 15-30 minutes, it all comes down to the basic notes (tonka predominates)... :(

zspetrova

I really like this one! Compared to the original Poison Girl, I think this one is more unique and "unexpected" as the name states. Unlike the sickeningly sweet Poison Girl (for me), this one has a twist. When I first smelled it, it took me to India for some reason.

If you already owned poison girl edt and loved it. When it was gone I bought edp and I love it. I would never think I needed both at the same time because I think they're way too similar. Now my question is, is Unexpected different enough to buy right now, or should I wait until I've finished up my edp and am ready for a new bottle of poison girl to try unexpected? Do I need both?

pjspaceshit

I tried the whole Poison Girl line and surprisingly, this latest release is my favourite! The EDP was way too strong for my taste. The EDT is softer, more citrusy, but stil cozy and sweet... and one of my most worn scents this winter!

This flanker is the most original to my nose. I'm a big fan of the zingy spicy ginger, which cuts through the sweetness of the vanilla that you may be familiar with from the previous versions.

Playful. Not too serious. Energy boosting and mood lifting, without being too sharp or too airy.

Does it have anything to do with the original Dior - Poison legacy? Absolutely not. It's a lovely and inoffensive fragrance, that will be understood and appreciated by the modern community.

JakesGirl81

Can someone please tell me how this compares to Hugo Deep Red? They share some similar notes and I LOVE Deep Red. Thank you!

JenniferLatifa

I think I would prefer this in the summer or spring. I definitely prefer Poison Girl edt. I could see this being a signature fragrance for a woman 25 and younger

Sirila

Very nice, preferred this to its sister fragrances. Mouth watering and yet fresh. I used it the days before Christmas when making the preparations and it felt cozy and energetic to sniff, went so well together with the scents from the fresh tree and the baking. It is a bit tickeling, like anticipating a surprise. I believe this will be perfect all winter long, especially those crispy clear days. My day time favourite so far for winter week ends and holidays for sure!

masako_30

I could not do without my colleague when it comes to slight nuances.
I believed her, I bought Poison Girl Unexpected on trust.
It suits me when I wear it. And I expected it, she's an ace.
There are indistinguishable scents to my nose, this seems the most natural of the 3, or as she says, the least synthetic or artificial, which nevertheless doesn't bother me.
About original Poison Girl I liked the in between notes, that here recur under new key.
There's a gummy non-gourmand side, solar, fresh withouth being sparkling, that I adore. 'Unexpected' is little chewy, less dull in the long run, a little undertone, feature that I like after all.

Palmer Eldritch

Wow, ginger bomb!

First spray is INTENSE ginger, but very natural. It smells like fresh ginger root tea!!! The sillage is strong!

It later develops into vanilla, rose, cashmeren... I can't really say it's sweeter than the original poison girl...maybe it is but not on my skin. The ginger is just too strong!

I see votes on spring/summer, but in my opinion this scent is the epitome of fall especially looking at the notes.

The performance is somewhat acceptable but for the price I was expecting much better. Sillage is huge the first hour but drops to basically nothing afterwards...

Verdict: Try before you buy folks.

octobertragedy

What a gingery lemon vanilla opening! Smells like my grandma's kitchen during the Holiday season. Milk, hazelnut cream and cakes. Girly, young, playful gourmand fragrance.
I only have a sample of this, I know I won't get the full size because I'll probably never wear it, but I am convinced that it would suit a lot of teenage girls. It is the kind of smell that I use to love during my adolescence.
Longevity is pretty moderate, but silage is hardcore.

Annabear

Not bad, the ginger gives it a playful nuance. Although not listed, I sense a coconut note here because something is reminding me of suntan lotion, albeit a lavish one.
There’s a sparkling quality which adds to the freshness of the composition, but it’s not citrus fresh heavy, there’s a creamy, milky base - like vanilla almond milk, that keeps this solid.
I prefer it to most of the Poison flankers.
Pretty good projection and longevity which is a pleasant surprise considering the mediocre performance of the aforementioned flankers I’ve tried.

STARISH

A bit sweeter than regular Poison Girl. It's really beautiful, but, unfortunately, its longevity and projection are so poor. They should be better considering the price of the bottle.

Malibu

Poison Girl Unexpected unsurprisingly smells similar to Poison Girl; but the new ginger note gives the fragrance energy which is lacking in the original edition, plus Unexpected is lighter on the rose and more bite on the citrus.

I enjoy Poison Girl, but I'm loving Unexpected and will be rebuying this over the original one, as it just has more personality and zing and is suitable to wear all year round, whereas I found the rose notes in the original Poison Girl too intense for warmer weather.

denoko

Although this perfume is not exactly my style, I feel at peace wearing it. Cozy, carefree and at ease.

LoveIsLife

This smells very similar to Poison Girl Edt with the citrus candy where as the other focuses on the candy lemonade this is more on the citrus side because of the grapefruit and ginger but as is dries down you smell a nice slightly creamy vanilla on the dry down mixed with the citrus. They are so similar I really think you would feel like choosing one or the other. I find Poison Girl Edt to last longer than this one and is fuller. This is a lighter version to me so I would prefer Poison Girl Edt. This is pretty and sweet. If your looking for a lighter version of Poison Girl Edt..give this one a go.

cherrygalore

This is a sweet, fun and flirty perfume. I got this one in EDT.

It's similar to Poison Girl, but this one has more of a citrus kick to it. You can really smell the ginger and lemon tickle your nose when you first spray.
It almost smells like candy. I want to say it smells like sour Haribo sweets? Or something like that. A very tangy twist.

I really like this fragrance because it's very lively. It reminds me a little bit of the perfume 'Fantasy' by Britney Spears.

VioletNoir

Out of all the poison girls this one is the best it smells a lot like meow by Katy perry but like more complex it’s like vanilla and citrus sweet but fresh and clean

lmwimsatt

Can somebody please tell me where this is sold in the U.S.???

lmwimsatt

Where do u buy this?

I<3Perfume

This smells like Poison Girl Suntan Lotion. This is a light version of Poison Girl with a Salty Skin scent added to it. It's a great Summer Floriental. Oh by the way the concentration on Fragrantica is a lie. It's not an Eau De Parfum but an Eau De Toilette.

lmwimsatt

What store is this sold at in the US?

sdizzle

I'm so heart broken by this one :( The smell is amazing, but the sillage is just ridiculously soft! No one can smell it on me, literally minutes after I spray it on! Otherwise, this would definitely be signature-scent-material.

lmwimsatt

Where do you find this??

Rozan

Sunscreen cream, powdered candy and Christmas gingerbread... I can feel each of these notes on my skin. I have approached Unexpected several times, in different conditions. Still the same experience. Pleasant and at the same time the lightest version of Poison Girl, but - as for me - without the effect of wow.

shusha

Oh this is an absolutely wonderful fragrance! Loved every minute of it projecting from my wrist. It reminded me of 'Armani Code', only that 'Unexpected' is much easier to wear in daytime and summer. It starts off with ginger dancing around softly with rose and vanilla joining in. The drydown is dominated by hazelnut and cashmeran, very soft and cosy. It's fresh and unusual, just what I was looking for. The projection is moderate and probably will depend on how much you spray. The longevity is typical of EDT. Most of all I enjoyed its freshness and unimposing sweetness. Indeed, very unique fragrance.

sabrina.gv

You can call me crazy... but i love it...
Sweet warm... sensual.. but than am a lot older than most here... its a scent you put on when you want to snuggle up next to your man.... on the sofa with a glass of wine, when its snowing outside....

bia_bebelusa23

I just got a bottle of this. I love the dry-down. It's vanilla and nuts and absolutely gorgeous. It starts very pungent with that ginger note. I bought it for how amazing the dry-down is, soft and sexy. On me the base notes last a lot, even though you can not smell it from a distance if you spray just behind your ears. I do 4-5 sprays, 2 behind my ears, 2 on the collar bones and sometimes one on the back of my neck, when I have my hair up, I got quite a few compliments this way with this fragrance. I absolutely love it

ScarlettX

This perfume is delicious! Smells sweet and spicy to me. I sense vanilla and tonka bean, I also get the almond note, which is not listed here.
I like how creamy it smells.
A good scent for autumn and winter.
Really nice.

s.pa_pandora

Sometimes, my life need some sweets like fuel for driving. Sadly, eating and drinking the sweets could only respond my need through my tongue. So, I find some sweet perfumes to fulfill my need of sweet through my nose as fuel for life.

Poison Girl Unexpected, the sweet fragrance with some spicy notes is like Twilly by Hermes during top notes period, but it gradually changes to next period with sweet scent as Poison Girl's DNA, orange-vanilla notes that I actually love. I think the ginger note is the star of the version and makes me active and sparking after spraying it on my body.

The fragrance is quite good longevity, but low aura. However the color appearing on its packaging is more beautiful than the two previous versions of Poison Girl.

craftymaya

I do not like particularly the original Poison Girl, but that one is nice even though there is no ground breaking here (deja vu)...That said, you can tell that it is made of quality ingredients (no artificial /synthetic notes). I get vanilla, ginger and blood orange the most. It is a soft fragrance and that is my main complaint: it is AGAIN a skin scent; unless you have your nose on it, you won't smell anything... Please DIOR,bring us some more powerful scents!

waskotransportation

I would like to start off by saying that I live in a valley of a mountain in the middle of West Virginia and Ma perfume addict. That poses a problem because there is no shopping within 2 hours so no opportunity to try anything. When I purchase perfumes they are always a blind Buy in most cases and I get my information from this website.

My all-time favorite is still vintage poison. So any time do your comes out with some new flanker I've even poison girl I am fast to try it. When I saw this on their website I could not wait to get my hands on it. It came beautifully packaged as usual when you purchase directly from Dior and I was surprised that the 1.7 Oz that was available was so inexpensive. That is considering they have a different version of poison on the site right now that cost 200 and you only get .05 Oz. I cannot afford that but I can't afford this one.

I have the original Poison Girl and while it's okay it's not one of my all-time favorites. This one is different. I haven't sprayed it in a few days but the main thing that stands out to me is the sweetness. I guess I needed something sweet in my life because I'm in love with it. I don't know how to describe notes as eloquently as the rest of you so I'm not going to even try. It is just beautiful. Of course this sweet perfume is targeting the younger generation millennials clearly. Although I am 48 I'm going to wear it. Not only am I going to wear this but I'm getting ready to order a second bottle while it's still available. I looked on eBay to see if I could find one cheaper and they are selling on eBay for double. That always amazes me. Is anyone actually buying the perfume from these price gouging people? They must be. Perhaps I should buy 10 of them and list them on eBay LOL

katrienlejeune

I am scandalously late to the entire Poison line (sniffed one about 10 years ago, decided I didn't like it and never revisited). A week ago I tried the Hypnotic Poison which I liked, but not enough to drop 80€ on it. SO when I say the edt pearl roller on sale a few days back, I impulse-bought it.
And I like it! At first it is an explosive mix of ginger and blood orange, not at all what I expect "poison" to smell like. It settles down into a nice, warm vanilla/tonka blend that doesn't smell cheap. The bottle and advertising makes it seems like this is another suckersweet teenage fruitfest, but it has a bit more class than that.
I have been wearing it for about 5 hours now and I can still smell the base notes on me, but sillage is véry soft, almost next to none.
It smells warm and pleasant, it is definitely a scent you wear for yourself, not to overpower your entire office or to turn heads on the street. You won't leave people wondering what you are wearing. It is like a nice haircut, a nude lipstick and some mascara: you look (and smell) immmaculate and refined, but you aren't trying too hard.

adrienn99

Was hoping for a spicy ginger and hence added this to my test list a while ago. Was strolling at the airport and spotted&tested it. Totally forgot why I added it to my test list back then(note-wise). on skin it was nice but sadly these days nice doesn't cut it. An.hour into wearing it, felt compelled to look up the notes, and saw ginger was supposed to be the star? Whoa, I didn't get any ginger, even if I forced the idea of it being there..I give this is a thumbs up due to almonds but ...well I.got a few almond scents already. Unexpectedly boring but good for comfort scent still?

Sevparfumaddict

Unexpectingly nice ! The first Poison Girl makes me nauseous (nutty caramel orange note) but this one is really pleasant. Probably because I love ginger.

Wooster97

Well they were correct ,this wasn’t what I was expecting at all !!i was worried it would be another flanker in this world which would smell too familiar to its original ,however this is a pure ginger overdose,a ginger bomb ,but the ginger is different to how I have smelt it in the past in other scents ,this isn’t fresh ginger at all ,but warning ,rich ,Almost creamy !

The other poison girls have been tangy ,sweet orange ,and I’m glad this has taken another direction ,don’t get me wrong the blood orange is noticeable ,but sits back in its seat and lets the spice lead the way ,and for sure the ginger really is the leader of this fragrance !

Another lovely creation by Dior

Livgranger

This is really nice, and I'm so pleased, because I wanted to like a version of Poison, and poison girl unexpected is the one! I've never found any of the others wearable for me, it's not that I hated any of them, I just couldn't tolerate them on me!

Perhaps that's why it's called 'unexpected'? Because if you don't usually like the others, you'll like this one. The fragrance opens with a fresh burst of ginger, blood orange and lemon, it's almost Christmasy. Then it warms down with some rose and it radiates quite well, the 'candy' element comes out more in the mid notes. This feels like a cool weather fragrance, I'm yet to test it in sunny weather, but I've a feeling it might be a chameleon and be good in both.

The dry down is vanilla and tonka heavy, the hazelnut element is not very apparent. I do really like this though. I like gourmands, it reminds me a bit of La Nuit Tresor a la Folie, especially in the dry down.

This has excellent sillage, it's a build-able fragrance, if you want more, spray more. You choose. I really like it in my hair, it smells divine!

Lasts around 12 hours for me.

muahah

First time I'm smelling something from Poison. It is weird and interesting. Gourmand, but not really. Spicy, but not really. Something old, but not really. Cool and warm, sweet and fresh in same time. There are some fruits and citruses. It's fresh, spicy, warm. Between that all is something chemically fresh, like from hairspray. In winter weird ginger tea mixed with juice and pinch of vanilla. It is more for young girl, but woman could also use it. Perfume it self is nothing much, but it's main difference is based on ginger.

Vanian

A very spicy Poison girl. The ginger is really strongly noticeable durind the first two stages of the fragrance development. Actially, I find this one quite different from the other two sisters and that's the unexpected bit I guess, here. Not bad at all.

Bubbly Fizz

generic sweet gourmand scent. Not bad but nothing special.

Gourmandlover

This smells really great! Very sweet, but also a little spicy which comes from the ginger note I guess. I haven't smelled something like this before, so to me it's a good flanker. Longevity and sillage seem to be moderate on my skin. I like it a lot and will see if I can resist to buy a full bottle of it. I think I may finish my samples pretty fast.

Olya-la

The only Poison girl version that I like and which doesn't induce headaches. It is a bit more complicated, spicy and somewhat fresher and lighter than Eau de perfume and Eau de toilette.

Ginger is the clue ingredient here and it brings the bright aura to the fragrance as well as reveals the Christmas atmosphere with the tempting smell of ginger biscuits.

Mazza68

Is this in the UK yet :-(

I love each and every poison... I want them all!

Kon-nos91

I'll start by: 1) I love Dior (ok tell us something new)
2) I will never ever forget the one responsible for Miss Dior EDP reformulation.
3) Francois Demachy, Dior's perfumer is such an intelligent guy and Poison Girl EDP, one of my top 5, has the best vanillic ending ever smelled.

I'll try to be as precise as I can with my review in a way I would like to read from you guys all over the world, before I experience the perfume on my own. I just can't mention that the EDP very first edition is a chemistry-dependent one. Yeah, I don't believe in this theory but here it applies well. It's such a complex perfume with bitter orange-almond-damasc rose and narcotic base do the work.

Also, it's crazy if I don't tell you that EDT isn't my thing. Not bad, but it's hot & cold effect with frozen orange being the star didn't win me personally. I have both editions and EDP will always be a favorite for many reasons. The only thing I can't stand is when I smell it to others and this is how I understood why some of you complain for it's 'sweetness'. Many millenials love it because of this but on my skin it's as FD said a delicious trap that makes me feel confident, seductive and poisonous. In a few words it expresses me well and I am very pleased with it's lasting power and sillage. Very! To end this paragraph for the EDT version since here it's Unexpected page, isn't it too strange that 80% have the idea of Poison Girl by having the oportunity to smell the EDT edition only? EDP isn't available for so many countries out there!

So, a new flanker guys, named Unexpected and concentrated as an EDT. Well, as I said I have both previous editions and by reading that this one isn't something new, I wasn't that curious to test. I didn't wait like crazy as I did for other perfumes and houses till I smelled it today. It's a complete new perfume! Dior's blood orange is a favorite for me. Who wouldn't be curious for ginger note? Although I was 99% sure I won't buy it, I got many compliments from my mother. Unexpected's nuances are very good. Let's see cons and prons in a more descriptive way:

PRONS: Nice color of the bottle and composition for an EDT. Blood orange although very light and not even close to the citrusy power of the previous two gives a powdery touch to the fresh ginger. Ginger gives it a kick of freshness and comfortable spiciness but you have to wait a lot till you have it's original smell. It's heart is just AMAZING. Sweet is a word that doesn't give justice. Nothing like gummy bears that I read from someone here, but yeah, it could be, it's something you wanna have more and more each time you smell. The rest reminds a lot of the original Poison Girl without being rich and different enough to like as almond was replaced by hazelnut. Sillage is good, lasting power...we'll see. That soft precious woody touch together with the spiced vibes are veeery good.

CONS: If you're one who judges a perfume from it's very first spray like me, you will definitely pass it. And you'll do it correctly since it's so harsh in a way you can't smell something specific to like and as the time pass by it becomes even worse. I experienced something as strong and disconforting as a repellent's odor right after wearing it for 1-2 hours and then..the magic started...Then it becomes a beauty. Elegant, with a character and promising. Conclusion, you have to test it on your skin to be 100% sure. I am very close from buying it.

" That's all from me. I know not many people will ready till here but guys, it's impossible that you haven't noticed that perfumes of 2018 follow a specific trend, they become more and more generic and weaker. I add it to the same category as the newest La nuit tresor-A la folie EDP from Lancome that I was truly mad waiting to try. We must keep closer to classics before it's too late..."

SandyMelak

Starts same as both edp and edt editions
Then it starts to take transformation road to spice trip and ginger started to take place ...
With time u can feeel soooooo sweet an sour feelings ..

So no it is not the same
As the other 2 are safe sexy sweet fragrances
This one a bit daring becoz not every one into spice ..

For me its good addition to my collection ..
I have nothing spicy i like expt this ..
I am into sweet and this gives me sweetness pleasure with spice feelings

Wvjinz

As I really love the Poison girl EDT I was eager to try this new flanker. It's a nice scent, but I must admit I like the PG EDT much better. This new one is actually too sweet for me. The ginger makes it nice and fresh, but the orange in PG EDT makes it so much more beautiful in my opinion. Except for the ginger PG unexpected is very close to the original PG, and if I wanted a ginger scent I would probably go all in and choose Twilly d’Hermès instead.

All in all - I like it, but I probably won't buy it.

lmwimsatt

And lo and behold, here are the rest of the notes

CassandraAlexandra

Uniqueness - 5/10
Longevity - 6/10
Sillage - 5/10
Value for money - 6/10

I tested it today and liked it. Unexpectedly. Because I dislike the original EDP (too sweet) as well as EDT (because of citrus, to my nose it doesn't sit well with the original sweet base).
Opens up with sweet ginger and blood orange, so uplifting and cute. Then I got soft vanilla and tonka beans. This flanker is rounded, feminine, and cheerful. Not overly sweet like the EDP and doesn't contain that totally alienated citrus like the EDT. After 8 hours I still feel a hint of it on my wrist just from one spray, so I would give it a at least 6/10 for longevity, even though it doesn't have heavy sillage.
Overall, likable fragrance, the roller bottle is adorable and would make a great gift, especially for someone who is into sweet fragrances.

Arlene-Beatrix

Unexpected love! It varies a lot from the other, previous Poison Girls. At first it smells like sweets called gummy bears. So youthful! Later I could smell more ginger and vanilla, but still very soft and truly lovely.
I did not expect much and I was so positively surprised! So clean, so charming, so delightful scent! Perfect for spring, fall and cool summer.
Poison Girl but so alluring that you simply can't resist her.

dinka.begić

unexpected disappointment. it's very simple, smells like a drugstore perfume for 5y.o. with an initial burst of blood orange that lasts for about 15-20min and than it's just something sugary sweet, i'm not sure i feel any vanilla at all, and probably the most embarrasing interpretation of the Damask rose i ever tried.
The sillage and longetivity are terribly poor for a "poison".

nezzabel

A Valentine's gift from him. Rollerball Pearl edition. He didn't ask me what I wanted - as always - so I didn't expected to get a fragrance, specially this fragrance.
I'm not a gourmand girl but I like my sweets (Angel, Classique, Shalimar Ode...).
I found the Poison Girl EDP uninspiring (not bad, but nothing that rocks my World) and didn't bother to try the EDT.
This was truly an unexpected gift (couldn't help myself).
So, the fragrance. The liquid is gel like. The bottle is nice and good for carrying in the bag.
The scent it actually is quite conforting. It opens with a vibrant citric note and then it turns like a rosewater vanilla cake with some spice added (maybe the ginger?).
And it smells familiar (there's something about it that reminds me of L'Occitane Miel & Citrón in the drydown).
It stays close to the skin but you're envelloped in a warm sweet rosy cloud. It feels conforting like a hug.
All in all, thumbs up!

pinky_brit

Oooh... that's why it smells minty to me, it's the ginger.

Neveah Delisle

I can not wait to wear it!

Ohhellozippy

There is one offputting note in the middle of all that sweet cloud of vanilla, sort of strange and sour. I think it's the blood orange. Not for moi sorry. I could deal with the sweet but that sour part is nauseating, so artificial. But I have got to admit that longevity is amazing. Sprayed 2x about 9 hours ago and it's still detectable on the skin - and I washed hands multiple times since.

emprss

-The first Poison Girl edp is balmy, warm and rounded, comfy yummy scent. All about vanilla and almond.
-The second Poison Girl edt is sharply sweeter a bit colder, candy like and sugary. All about that frosted orange and caramel.
-The third Poison Girl Unexpected is jammy and juicy, even colder than the edt.I get more fruity floral tones here and I would say its all about blood orange and rose.

The edp is the closest to Hypnotic Poison edt, but softer and not dark and smoky.

tinaelisa

WOW, I was really not expecting to like this!
I don't like the normal poison girl. I find it way too sweet and cloying. Today in the perfume store I saw that they had the rollerball version of this poison girl unexpected scent and gave it a try. Just out of curiosity about the rollerball. And I was unexpectedly surprised! It smelled like something from my childhood... First I could not pin point it and then it hit me. It smells like Lebkuchen! Thats the german version of gingerbread. I absolutely love ginger and gingerbread so was really surprised and amazed to like it! I know someone in the comments below also mentioned gingerbread, so Im not the only one who smells this.

Marco<3

A me piace moltissimo, top!

<3

larita91

Basically it is Poison Girl with a hint of fresh, zesty, juicy, sour, citrusy (almos like mint at the beginning) freshness - which makes it so much better. It should have been THE Poison Girl, the other two seems so... well, unremarkable small potatoes compared to this one. I love it! Not so groundbreaking (or unexpected), but blended perfectly, and this perfume really has that "plus" which makes me fall in love with it. Sillage is moderate, but longetivity is great.

raiza1990

Well, this is not really unexpected. It smells like many other perfumes out there. It is not bad, it is very nice, but nothing groundbreaking.
I get a sweet fragrance, with a bitter touch, a bit of powder and something that keeps it fresh. The vanilla is delicious and boozy. Everything is well balanced. It reminded me a bit of the dry down of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille.
This is a nice flanker. It is softer and more mature than the original.
It is worth trying, but don't expect anything unique.

ballekom

well I received the rollerball version, coz I already have the other two pgs.The juice inside seems gel like... Keep bringing out poison flankers Dior and Ill keep buying em. Im even thinking about splashing out on Hypnotic Poison Perfume, because Ive been kicking myself for not getting Midnight Poison before it was discontinued...Original Poison before reformulation maybe Ill meet you one day

SailorV

This is available around here since last weekend and I tried it a few times on my arm/hand, so here is a second early review:

Let me first say that this is very similar to the other two Poison Girls and not 'unexpected'. They really don't choose great names for this line.
The ginger is noticeable in the beginning, or to be more precise: This has a fresh spicy, tart note in the opening. But compared to other scents with a ginger note (Twilly, Deep Red, some JPG flankers...) it's not a very pronounced, 'gingery' ginger.
I understand the sour candy comparison from perfumer François Demachy that was posted in the comments (and is also on Dior's official site). It's sparkly and fizzy in the top, but also very sweet. I think it would have been better and more interesting if they executed this concept more boldly. This way it's a bit like Trolly glow worms when you keep them in your mouth too long - sweet and sour and fun at first, but just like regular sweets after the first blast of fizzy sourness wears off.
When the perfume dries down, the Poison Girl DNA is very evident. A dash of rose, lots of creamy vanilla, tonka and almond (or almondy tonka, as almond is not in the official notes here). It's a little less sweet than the original, but also a little less rounded in they final drydown and a little lighter.

Still I think if you already have Poison Girl EDP, EDT or any good dupe of them, you don't really need PG Unexpected. Except if it's your signature and you can't get enough of it.
If you hate Poison Girl, don't bother, this is not for you.
If you like this kind of scent, but don't have anything like it in your collection yet, it could be a good choice.

PS: It's ridiculous this has more dislikes than likes and loves combined at this time, before it's even out in most countries. Come on. I wonder why some people feel too mature for a Poison Girl flanker, but immature enough to waste their time trolling around sites about perfumes they never smelled.

Berta15

OMG........WOOOOW.....I just love it!
First let me say that I´m not a Poison Girl fan but this is JUST AMAZING!!!
aaaaaaaa......I don´t know what to say,I´m amazed,enchated,fascinated,rapt,under spell......
When I got this masterpiece I was sooo curious and so so happy. The bottle and box has a holo style which is just amazing.

So the scent:At first it´s a big burst of fresh ginger like a realistic fresh ginger almost minty-absolutely gorgeous start.Than after this I smell something which is like lemongrass again very fresh lemony smell,OOOOOMMMGGGGG I´m totally in love----SORRY everybody!
After this amazing fresh start it´s start to calm down and the vanilla & tonkabean start to play with the ginger which now start to be a little spicy(in a fresh spicy, fresh peppery way.)It´s like a GINGERBREAD,yeaaah everybody a gingerbread--suprise!!After a while I start to capture the blood orange which again gives a scent a new twist.
Now after the dry down I can smell the Poison Girl DNA but so so much fresher and brighter. It´s like a fluffy vanilla cake with ginger topping on it(plus the smoky tonkabean). The ginger now is very peppery & lemony. The vanilla is not overdose,is in a right balance between sweet and fresh(and it´s very realistic vanilla smell).I think there is the rose but it´s rather like a waxy rose(like a candle) but only at the beginning (in a goooood way).
I totally recommend this amazing masterpiece,it´s absolutely utterly gorgeous.I recommend to let it sit and give some time to unfold.
The sillage is just a dream, very strong and it lingers in the room where you spray it.The longevity is very good I´m very satisfied, last more than 7-8h.
I think the scent still want the cold weather but for early spring/fall and in winter it will shine.

ederb

I read that there is salt note in the top notes which want to give a "ginger-tonic" sparkling feeling. The heart note is the same and in the base is tonka bean, vanilla and musk.

François Demachy said:
"With Poison Girl Unexpected, I wanted to bring the strong, contradictory sensation of a sour candy into a fragrance. I played with the contrast of a fruity note that would swell into a spicy, sexy accord. A ginger note slightly seasoned with a dash of salt was the obvious answer. It conveys all the "expressive" charm of those tart candies that explode in your mouth and then give way to sweetness."

I always try to go for a flanker of a flanker to ensure my perfume is unique. If I ever have trouble deciding, I go for the one that is less original. It's like burrowing deeper in the ground to avoid being found, with "found" being a metaphor for someone else wearing my perfume

Im not sure why flankers get so much hate, companies are there to make money, thats a fact, nothing new or shocking, they have competition and therefore have to create new additions before competitors do to stay relevant. There are millions of fragrances to choose from today - so if you don't want to support a flanker or mass marketed brand don't, put your money elsewhere.

I actually really enjoy poison girl - she is fun, sexy, youthful and I'm interested to smell this one - although rose isn't my favourite scent in perfumes, the ginger note interests me.

I got the chance to test this at Dubai Airport (DXB), and to me it seemed to be a very much simplified version of Poison Girl EDT, which I love. To me the ginger note was the strongest, although not at all as strong as I had expected. A very light scent.

The handwriting on the bottle is getting worse, lol!

I thought I saw a different colored bottle, and lo and behold there actually is a new one! And I'll bet anyone my last season's flanker that more notes will eventually be added to that pyramid

Perfume launches in February 2018 and we ALREADY evaluate longevity and notes. Interestingly, Fragrantica in different languages evaluates them all differently... I wonder why... Maybe because nobody had smelled the fragrance yet?! Give us all a break people and at least smell it before trashing it okay.

Seems to me this flanker will resemble Twilly, but with a rose kick - I am very interested

So.... is anyone able to do a comparison to the poison girl fragrance please for reference? Or to hypnotic poison? Or compare similarities to other releases in the last couple years by the high end brands... that would be useful. Cheers

Ohhellozippy

I would recommend to wait release so you can at least try it and then dislike if you so wish.

VioletNoir

its my type...sure im excited to try it

It is not a review as I haven't tasted it yet. But I will! As what happened with me when I first tried Poison girl EDT was that I actually felt in huge love with it. This deserves at least a try, doesn't it?

Oh man... Here we go! All the fragrantica creepers that down vote something that has yet to be released. Ughhhh. Guess what? I love poison, all the flankers. I love poison girl and I bet I'll love this one. I guess us mainstreamers are annoying. Give it a chance people!! It could be the best scent you've ever smelled in your life, but you dismiss it just because of it being yet another Dior flanker release.

Sounds intriguing, indeed. It appears that ginger will be the next year's most used note. I like it, it's really refreshing. It gives that kick that some sweet scents need. Can't wait to try it.

There are 3 certain things in the world: death, taxes and incoming Poison Girl flankers.

But I have to admit that notes sound intriguing.

Poison Girl Unexpected? What? It sounds like it's the sequel to a bad movie; "Poison Girl: Unexpected". What's next?
Poison Girl II The Return? Poison Girl Surprise I'm Here?
Or maybe Poison Girl You're Poisoned Now. It could be like a series of flankers in the form of a plot based on the titles.

But seriously they should've went with an Eau De Cologne as a tribute to the original Poison, since this is supposed to be a "fresh" and "sparkling" fragrance.

Also why is the child in the ad shirtless?

iamoir

The flanker of a flanker of the flanker of Poison.
It's real

Right now, it's hard to find a tester of this in order to properly access the fragrance, they're all empty, so big is the interest of the youth-and not only, I can assure you- in the Poison Girl line, judging by this fact and only, we can already tell it's going to be another best seller.

I was lucky enough to sample from the Pearl Roller. Now, I assume that despite the gel-like consistency, I get the same thang that is inside the EDT bottle. Well I hope I'll test that soon enough too. For now, I'm not impressed at all. Poison Girl EDP is a nice balsamic vanilla and Poison Girl EDT is a lovely perfumey vanilla rose. Unexpected is too damn expected. Lasts terribly short, at least the Pearl Roller, and has a weird character of revealing its notes at times; they all seem to appear and dissapear. Is that really worth of my money?

Scentwise, when applied it smells intensely of a fresh fruity ginger note paired with a lot of sweetness. It is strong, nose filling, candy-cake scent, absolutely targeted to the youngsters, following the Juicy Couture and BonBon tradition of "I'm here to raise your glucose" perfumes.

After literally ten minutes all this is gone, and "unexpectedly" reappears for the next three hours here and there. Nothing steady. It's an unexpected behavior. See? At least we validated the "unexpected"!

The EDT is more concentrated than the pearl roller, it stays more time on the skin and smells like a vanilla ginger cookie. No development, no character, no mystery, no poison, no allure... a terribly simplistic vanilla ginger that is a shame for Dior. Poison Girl Unexpected for Dior is what Gabrielle is to Chanel.

Dior official website lists these notes:
▪tanzanian ginger
▪damascus rose
▪tonka bean
▪salt notes
▪vanilla
▪musk
▪fruity notes
▪tart candies

Dior, keep milking it and making more and more younger poisons. A post apocalyptic nightmare.
