Comme des Garçons has such a good DNA, you will find this same and special vibe in all of their fragrances. Floriental is really sexy. Plum, incense and sandalwood is a good combo. Nothing to say beside the performance which is not so so good but these are the standards nowdays unfortunately. But doesn't matter i Will get that thing one day.

Edit: sadly and i can't explain why but i became nose blind to it. This happens to me only with fragrances containing ambroxan, and this one doesn't have ambroxan.

Disappointed in Floriental.

Opens nicely, but dries down to Versace Blue Jeans. You can pick up 75ml Blue Jeans for £15. I paid £90 for 100ml of Floriental.

But the bottle looks nice but it's annoying that it doesn't stand up

AlexLemonIncense

This is my signature scent. I see girls on tiktok recommending “rock star girlfriend” scents that all smell like cherry or tobacco and they’re so contrived and inaccurate. This smells like effortless rock and roll. Like you rolled out of an opium den. It’s smoky it’s enigmatic. It smells like leather. There’s the slightest sweetness on the opening from the plum combined with spice of pepper but the remaining notes are mysterious, grounded by sandalwood, and unisex. But. Do not blind buy this. Everyone loves it on me but it does not suit any of my friends. Otherwise. Highly recommend.

mikemuscles21

$152 CAD is a small price to pay for a small piece of heaven. Revisiting this from the past and got a new bottle. Such a stunning perfume. A rich, sweet, slightly smokey. I smell warm spice, a tiny bit leathery. It's good. In my opinion underrated.

Shex_me

The opening is quite sweet and fruity, truly plummy.

After it dries down, it gets more masculine with noticeable tones of warm smoky woodiness and smooth incense. Leather and amber come second in smell.

Good overall wear but recommended for winter and fall, good for nighttime as well.

qianqian

Wow, for me it's a heavenly blend of sweet floral and smoky woody notes. The name fits it well. I'll just wear it to test out the longevity, as this is a common issue with CDG frags, but otherwise I'm happy wearing the scent and I will add it to my bottle list.

This is a very good approach to niche perfumery, in my opinion. A hybrid between designer and niche realms. Very, smooth, fabulously built fine fragrance. A modern, oriental perfume. Someone really clever has built this, a very experienced chemist. This is a modern, oriental fragrance, which could be worn all the year round as a signature fragrance easily.

I imagine, this is traditionally built upon Iso E Super, Hedione, brilliantly chosen white Musks (Muscone, Nitro-Musks, Ambrettolide, Galaxolide), Ambroxan, Lily of the valley raw materials (Magnolan, Liliestralis) - enhancing the cleanness, softness and lightness with Hedione. Sandalwood like raw materials (Sandalore, Polysantol), Cedar like raw materials (Vertofix, Cedrol) - dryness, woodiness, ('leather like facet' in the fragrance to my nose) Terpenoid compounds - enhancing the dry 'smoke like facet', Vanillin, Coumarin, Dynascone (fruits, plum, multifunctional) and beautifully chosen naturals.

Very dry, quite fresh opening. It pretty reminds me Cedar used in perfumery, but it could be created by mentioned Pink Pepper, absolutely. (At least once I could agree with a notes' description xD. In majority of the cases this is usually a marketing nonsense which grabs peoples' attention and wallets.) Very clean, sweet, creamy, smooth, very delicious smelling perfumery. Very modern and artistic, being very functional and versatile in the same time. Not my personal style, but I can't deny how beautiful this is. I think, the perfumer, who had been working with this achieved something really phenomenal. I can recommend this to everyone, honestly. Especially, if you like oriental and gourmand perfumes.

You will love this, I guarantee. You can dress it up and down, literally you can't go wrong with this, in my opinion. Artistic, yet extremely versatile. Niche quality, technically this is something really fabulous. Absolute steal for the price, worth every single penny.

Beautiful perfume.

sundayinheaven

I, like many other users, disagree with the name. It doesn’t match the fragrance itself. Just wanted to get that out of the way.

On my skin, Floriental is a smoky, woody oriental scent. It’s unisex in the opening but gets progressively more masculine as it dries drown. I personally won’t wear it for this reason, but I wouldn’t mind it on someone else. It’s an attractive scent.

Ilikewhatilike

I think it’s nice. I get the amber with a good lick of plum with a solid dose of ongoing incense. Decent performance.
Quality for sure, but I for an amber with a gourmand kick like Byredo eyes closed.

Plum. Incense. Wood.

This became a fixture in my collection from first sniff. It reminds me of relaxing on a hillside in Kyoto, on a nice warm evening. It’s such a nice compilation of notes. Definitely recommend snagging a bottle.

tropic0

This is nice! Plum and incense, a bit of wood. Honestly I think this would be best suited for men, could definitely see this on my dad on a summers day.

Maurizia4

Floriental is one of the more amber/woody fragrances I have that I really really love!! It's a woody oriental perfume through and through. I feel like a mysterious woman when I wear this, and maybe it's just me it pairs really lovely with a black outfit. Love it, truly <3

chuufromloona

blind bought this just cause the bottle was so pretty lolz

beautiful plummy opening (reminds me a bit of kimonanthe from diptyque) and dries down to almost a musky powdery leather.

not the vibe i usually go for but excited to hav something different in my collection!

DaZeD

Very weak silage and longevity. Becomes a skin scent after the drydown, and what’s left is completely robbed from the wonderful notes in the opening.

It would be an amazing scent if it wasn’t so absolutely poor in performance.

BGBG

For me this one is oudy woody incensy. Oriental but not too much plumy.
After a few wears, I finally get the similarities with Kapsule Woody in the far dry down.

tuantranthe69

The closest alternative to Tom Ford's Plum Japonais, though the plum note is less prominent and is not as skanky.

Floriental is rather a tamed version of TF Plum Japonais, which of course, is sadly discontinued.

I agree with some of the other members saying there is a disconnect between the name (a gorgeous name albeit) and the actual fragrance experience. You would expect a harmony of Oriental and Floral notes but it's not quite as you expect it to be.

Nevertheless, it's a beautiful composition. I've wanted to own this for months because I thought it was going to be a possible signature, so I finally gave in and bought myself a 100mL bottle. Now that my tastes have slightly changed, I should have opted for the 50mL. But since I have it, I'm going to wear it as often as I can.

In the opening, you can detect the spiciness of the pink peppercorn enveloped by creamy sandalwood, with a shot of boozy liqueur. After about an hour or so the shy fruity plum comes out of its shell with the incense blooming through. It’s a wonderfully done incense that’s not too punchy. If you step back from the painting, you can see the vetiver frame. And of course, my favourite scents typically feature a nice warm amber labdanum.

I only wished the longevity lasted longer than 3 hours because afterward, I’d have to really sniff my wrists to detect anything. Sillage is quite moderate. For that, I spritz generously which chokes me at first, but it settles nicely about an hour after.

It’s a good scent for a fall/winter wardrobe. A solemn and sophisticated individual who isn’t priggish. Sensual and exotic, clouded with darkness and edge. I could be quite polarising - definitely for people who have a more particular refined taste. If you’re a Scorpio, you might like to try this!

smellworthy

This is nice, but I get very little plum honestly, and nothing floral at all. On my skin this is a woody and peppery incense. I am wearing it right now though and this is my first time trying it so maybe more plum will come later? Or maybe I didn't apply enough.
I like it either ways, it smells sultry and expensive. Def get where other reviews are coming from about it giving Christmas vibes, I bet it'll smell bomb this winter, I'm gonna have to save my sample for as long as I can til then

QuentinsBeach

Dried plum or plum jam used to make biscuits (translation: cookies), and those CdG characteristics of incense/vetiver. I love it. An easy wear for me. Extremely sweet and fruity but somehow not overly, or perhaps just the type of sweet fruity that I like, leaning to the warm side, incense in the background. Brilliantly done.

banksia

Floral, slightly fruity, and very peppery. Masculine wearers will appreciate this spice to balance floral undertones, feminine wearers will appreciate the floral, sweet, fruity tones. Smells like a rich mature person with good taste. Smells crimson and like string instruments. Love this fragrance.

Moonshine_Strawberries

Too much pepper for me, which is so disappointing because this would otherwise be such a great, unique fruity scent. I love that it’s fruity without being sweet and girly. I love the fruity/incense/sandalwood combo. I think there is a place for it but it’s certainly not a LOVE. If you like this you should definitely also try to get your hands on an Yves Saint Laurent Belle D’Opium sample. I wouldn’t compare it to Tom Ford Plum Japonaise because that smells like a Christmas candle, while this does smell like an interesting perfume that anyone that likes a pretty perceptible amount of pepper note can absolutely appreciate.

I’d be happy to pass along my sample for just the cost of shipping or work out a deal on a batch of different samples.

Heinrich_B

Just bought a bottle of it, used it on my arm, and right off the bat it stroke mew with a strong resemblance of something, but i couldn't put my finger on what it was...just figured it out now, it's Montale Honey Aoud.
I have to wear it a few times to see how it goes performance wise. For now, that one spray seems good enough, i get whiffs of it around me.

Edit! It is a nice fragrance with solid performance in the first hour, by the 5th hour it is almost gone tough...
A Little bit woody, a Little pencilshavings, i feel a cherry coca cola note in there in the begining...it is a little too Montale-ish to my taste, i was expecting something else based in the YouTube reviews, Something more stilish, more alluring.
To conclude, it is a solid fragrance, but not for my taste, and i do not think that this is worth the prices that it goes for on the market.

Wow. I'm so glad I gave this a second shot. I fell backwards onto this fragrance trying to find a sweet spicy floral oriental fragrance, and on a whim I searched for 'Floriental' and added this decant to my list at Perfumed Court.

The first time I tried it on skin, I was immediately put off because I had so many spicy fragrances that were far too masculine. You know that sharp spicy ozone of like Burberry men's cologne's? I kept getting that in a lot of my 'spicy' fragrances. And the opening of this fragrance is.... powerful. I almost immediately discounted it.

But the drydown. OH but the DRYDOWN. Friends. Come to me. Sing the praises of the drydown of this fragrance. The sweetened spices and warm jammy plums... I just want to spray this on a wool jacket and sit by a fire outside next to some Christmas trees.

This is... magic. Pink pepper with Sandalwood and incense gets you that warm sticky spice without being straight up cinnamon, which can read so badly sometimes. I LOVE cinnamon but it can read as almost sweat or BO, or get way too gourmand and remind you of pies... But this fragrance nails it. Sweet, spicy, dark. The opening is HARSH but it's what creates the longevity, and the drydown is where it lives.

Don't get me wrong, it's in the same zipcode as the Burberry men's line (Brit, Mr. etc...) but the drydown takes a gorgeous left turn with a sweet plum. Loving it. I get the comparisons to PJ by TF but I like this better.

kingderella

A lot more oriental than floral. In fact I'm getting almost no floral. A lot of lovely, sweet spices, though. I'm reminded of Spicebomb, minus the cinnamon. Good longevity, too.

ingeneuxo

-Nondescript, light woody-spicy men's cologne with an airy vibe to it.
-The plum note that is supposedly the star in this blend...well, it's extremely faint.
-You'd have to press your nose to the blotter to pick it up.
-Rather forgettable, considering its coming from a perfume house known for its avant garde style of perfume and fashion pieces.
-That said, this has Floraiku vibes to it. (-)

stacia79

Floriental has the unmistakable DNA of all CdG perfumes. If you held it to my nose in a blind test I might not remember exactly which fragrance it was but I would guess it was Comme des Garcons for sure. (I've sampled a lot of these bad boys by now!) If you told me I was wrong I would guess it was a Serge Lutens because it is slightly reminiscent of Feminite du Bois... having a slightly boozy quality to it from the plum accord and then mixed up with a spicy woody incense. It's enjoyable but not groundbreaking. I could see this being an absolute favorite if I had not tried thousands and thousands of perfumes in my lifetime. Huff worthy.

Bodda89

This one is very innovative
and the similarity to plum japonaise is very minor to me
the fragrances uses cold incense in an amazing way, blending it with dried plum that yet carry some freshness
the sandalwood is present yet subtle to support the incense furthermore
it is a very lovely fragrance not very talked about but it deserves a much wider recognition.

acecorde777

the woody notes are similar to Bentley for Men Intense as in it smells a little of pencil shavings which i don't mind. strong opening of plum alcohol. doesn't last very long and had potential to be much better

Smooth

Very beautiful creation.
Soft woods surrounded by delicate incense and floral notes.
The sandalwood/labdanum gives a creamy feel.
Pink pepper and incense give an airy vibe.
Plum here is a bit jammy. Reminds me of a rose.
There are some similarities to Oud Palao. They are not the same but they share some incense, floral facets.

stephen.redeker

Just got this and giving my first impressions. I love CDG fragrances and had high hopes this would be a fruity/floral/woody combo with power. It's been discontinued and becoming rarer to find, so I jumped at the chance and paid close to retail for a slightly used bottle. I was dreaming of something like a mix of Dior Poison Espirit and CKone Shock with that CDG edge (dark fruits and rich spicy tobacco).

Now that I finally got it, all I pick up is the woody incense. Not much more, no fruit or floral to speak of. Something like pencil shavings with incense, and I don't mean that in a bad way, just being descriptive. Immediately I was reminded of Gucci Pour Homme 2003 and CDG Man 2 (minus the aldehyde). My nose just doesn't pick up every note and I only get the main ones here.

Normally I love this type of scent, but did not expect that from this at all based on the hype I was seeing and the reviews. Usually CDG fragrances have good performance but this one is under par. So, a little bit disappointed here. I will give it more tries and report back when I have a new discovery with this.

Update: I do get the fruitiness on the opening, then it quickly dries down to what I described above. I'm just realizing that several CDG fragrances have that same base of woods and incense. They just add another note and give it a different name.

inquisitivecat

I might have some selective insensitivity to the odor chemicals used in this perfume, but to me it's like someone stripped flowers and resinoids of their depth and left only the reflection of them off a pitted, cold metal surface.
Is it... deliberately making fun of dept store florals?? for lacking depth?

After seeing the list, I think I best perceive the pink pepper. It gives the impression that my nose has gone numb and on the other side of the numbness is a nice spicy fruity scent -- but I never actually experience that scent.

I don't know how they achieved that thinness. However, only one other review that I read seems to feel as I do (Chromatica calls it a "cold" scent, which I can see as in the same impression ballpark). Some people imply that it's not a heavy hitter, but no one comments that it's so sheer and thin that were it made of cloth it would fly away on a baby's sigh.

Is my nose broken?!?!?! I keep trying this perfume again to see if one more try will finally let me perceive it, but it's always that shallow, razor-thin suggestion of a screechy pepper.

Nooshin (Atghia)

One might assume that Floriental refers to the fusion of Floral and Oriental ingredients, but still, one might be wrong! Given the fact that it is a Comme des Garcons fragrance, an avant-garde brand which usually catch you by surprise!
.
To me, it’s a woody amber fragrance with a prominent spice role. It opens up with a plum liquor like smell along with some pink pepper rosy touch and tangy spiciness. Then it drops onto a broad bed of labdanum with its special smokey amber vibe. Meanwhile, dry vetiver and creamy sandalwood make its strong woody base. Floriental reminds me to some extent of James Heeley Phoenicia, which I’m quite fond of!

VinceChi1178

For me there is a bit of a disconnect between the name of this fragrance and the scent of this fragrance.

On my skin, this is primarily warm, spicy, and woody. A review lower down mentions Christmas, and I definitely get that. Floriental reminds me of a candle you’d burn around the winter holiday season. I pick up cozy, winter spices – nutmeg and cinnamon (neither of which are listed as notes, but perhaps this comes from the sandalwood, pepper, and incense). I also catch a hint of sweetness, but it’s relegated to the background. Presumably this is from the plum note, though my nose does not distinguish it as plum. Overall, Floriental is a comfortable, homey scent.

When I see the name Floriental, however, I imagine something a bit headier and more opulent. I imagine deep florals and lush spices. I imagine something more decadent than cozy. And when I see plum listed as the first note, I definitely expect a fragrance to be far sweeter than this. I also imagine a “beast mode” fragrance, and this is not that. Floriental has fair performance, but isn’t overpowering. It’s a decent middle-of-the-road fragrance in terms of longevity and sillage.

I quite like Floriental, but ultimately it comes off a bit too timid for my tastes. It’s also not dissimilar from other warm spicy fragrances in my wardrobe. I’ll happily keep my sample and bust it out for the work holiday party in December, but won’t be adding a full bottle to my collection.

chromatica

Delicious! Went from a decant to a miniature only to get a big bottle later, so here we are. Gorgeous plums drowning in incense with a dash of pepper and some rounded sandalwood action going on. It does not play around trying to come off as some pseudo-oriental scent. I do get some synthetic notes but that's what makes CdG for me. This sounds weird but this frag feels "cold", despite incense and labdanum, yet I'd call it an incense plum liquor if this was a thing, not home-brewed but AI-generated. Thick but not cloying at all. Performance is average, sillage is light to medium.

As for the comparisons, Plum Japonais smells really similar but I feel like it's somewhat heavier on the spices. I have a friend who's a fan of PJ and there was one day when we met with her wearing it and me wearing Floriental, the similarity was so obvious! I made her a decant and now she's got a FB of Floriental, admitted this stuff is addictive! All the upvotes on Feminité du Bois make sense too, but I would never label them as dupes, Feminité feels lighter, it's musky and I get a lot of cedarwood, it feels more feminine while Floriental feels totally unisex. I'd define Feminité du Bois as plum+cedarwood while Floriental would be plum+incense.

carlos_torres181

Carlisle?

lordbig

What a cheerful scent! Think Christmas market. Sweet pfeffernüsse cookies with pepper and ginger and nutmeg. Fleshly cut trees. Hot, fruity wassail. A soft chimney smoke in the air.
Not cloying at all, fresh but warm. Unisex.

Fragaddict123

It was talked about briefly in the fragcom
And I had a feeling it would be something special
Unfortunately it wasn’t
I assure you the scent is pleasant and lovable
But i felt it lacked a power factor that makes me happy with most of my time with my fragrances
It lasted for a moderate amount of time and it starts to fade away slowly

black matte spray

The other day I was driving home from work with the windows cracked and I could smell the fall air seeping in, or at least the scent I associate most strongly with season: the crisp, woody odor of a forest floor dense with bright reds and yellows and every shade in between (I swear the woods/trees have a slightly different smell as they're losing their leaves), the the smoke of woodstoves flaring to life after laying dormant all summer, and the fruity, almost cider-like tang you get as you pass an apple orchard. Then I realized I don't drive past any orchards when I go that way, and that what I was actually smelling was the Floriental I'd put on that morning. Or maybe it was the fragrance mixing with the fall air; regardless, the point is that they were so similar and blended together so seamlessly as to be effectively indistinguishable. What more could you ask for from a fall scent?

photonparable

This stuff makes me hungry. Pepper, plum, with a touch of incense leads it to take this type of savory route. Would be perfect for a steakhouse or traditional American bar.

The dry down leans more peppery for me, and performs averagely. Better than most CDG frags though, as they have a reputation for being light or fleeting.

PlanetGrl

Irresistibly gorgeous plum and amber, sandalwood, and smoky incense. A pepper note that doesn’t punch but doesn’t hide either. Pepper usually turns me off a fragrance quickly, but this is truly lovely.

lwhaymand

East meets West - a perfect balance of oriental spiciness and more mainstream designer sweetness. Floriental opens up with a beautifully juicy plum note combined with a spicy punch from the pepper. True to its name, it has an oriental feel throughout, and for me, the plum lasts right through into the dry-down which is nice. As it dries down it becomes softer, and you get a sweet, smooth sandalwood vibe which actually reminded me of PdM Layton a bit. The incense also comes through fairly subtly, but enough to give it more depth and intrigue. For me, the performance is good but not great.

This is perfect for those colder days and nights, and I think this would be a great fragrance to bridge the gap between designer and niche as it is different and unique, while still being mass-appealing and likeable. Floriental is the first Comme des Garcons fragrance I've smelled, and it's made me want to try more!

AMajeedQT

Brooding Red.

Floriental is a gorgeous yet serious scent. Juicy, barely-fruity plums combine with melancholic incense & softly woody sandalwood, & completed with a light dash of pink pepper. The plum is not very fruitily sweet but it still has some leathery fruitiness. The labdanum and vetiver are not overt notes in here.

Woody, soft, musky, serious, dark, spicy, lightly-fruity.

This is a great release by CdG. I get the comparison with Tom Ford Plum Japonais. There is a similarity with the woody plum smell. However, I prefer Floriental. The notes are perfectly balanced, & it doesn't come out too fruity nor too woody - just right. While Plum Japonais leans more on the cinnamon and woody notes, make it heavier and louder.

This woody/spicy fragrance leans much more masculine than feminine.

It is a perfect romantic fragrance for cool nights. The performance, like most CdGs, seems to be quite average.

I "Love" it.

KDamon116

This is SUPER woody and definitely not for everyone. A fragrance like this has a very specific time and place to be worn by specific people; if I were walking down the beach in the middle of a hot Summer day and smelled this on a 19 year old guy in a tank top and shorts, I could immediately tell that he knows nothing about fragrance. This is for older men who enjoy playfully rich sandalwood fragrances. I could almost see this as a slightly sweet flanker to Sauvage. Speaking of sweeter, I do enjoy that aspect of this fragrance. The plum note actually saved this cologne for me. I smelled the thick sandalwood pouring out of the bag my sample came in and almost threw it straight in the trash. However, I decided to give it one more try and realized that the woody notes stay on surfaces and project better. The sweetness, however, provides a sort of duality that I couldn't describe better than with the appropriate name, "Floriental". Sweet, spicy, playful, but NOT an everyday scent.

IndigoEye

I am a fan of Comme des Garçons generally and was very primed to fall for this as I love incense, plum and fruity sandalwood scents. Feminité du bois and Plum Japonais are big loves. Floriental has all the notes listed - incense, plum wood - but it also has a massive synthetic woody chemical blaring the whole way through that spoils everything. A clear no, sadly.

Fischer84

It´s a rich, oriental, ambery scent, but also equal parts fruity. However, it´s very traditional, and very perfumey, and strong. When you smell it you instantly think perfume. It could only be perfume. Someone is wearing perfume in here... and lots of it. This one might be difficult to pull off in an every day stetting, but it could work wonders on special occasions because it´s truly a beautiful scent.

Jana711xx

Super sexy perfume. On first spray it is very masculine but it soon dries to a soft feminine sandalwood, which on my skin is the dominant note. I do not pick up any vetiver

BasiPdr75

Blind bought this one after it got a very good discount (70 euro). Unique, seductive, masculine, and potent scent. It is very creative and different. longevity is good for me (10-12 hrs ). After that you can still feel it but weak. At very Late dry down I got a similar vibe of Reflection man. but totally they are different scents! for that price, it's absolutely a steal! Best of CDG for sure so far!

gospodinov_s

Very similar to the rare Mugler "The taste of fragrance", only here a bit smoky at the start. For this price ... comme-ci, comme-ça. For fruity plum - Armani Privé Bleu Lazuli!!!
Not big fan of CdG, because the longevity, but this one has some good points. When dried down is clean and wearable ... for everyday . It is no value for 120-150 € in the after market for discountinued frags. The projection is average ... everything is average , fazit - the price than is a way above.

tauburn

I think this is great, but the initial period is a bit strong and overbearing. Once it settles down it is quite mild and enjoyable. I think the sillage is strong despite other reviews. It isn't the type of thing I could wear everyday or to work i think. This is more of a special event type of scent.

peter94

Smells unusual but in a positive way, very seductive too

alit

What a stunner! It is thick, incense-y, floral and spicy, woody. This does not go by without being noticed. How anyone can describe it as a "faint oriental" is beyond me. Lasting power is bomb!
Quality absolutely surpasses the price in this case.

GoldIris

I think I will stop buying fragrances blindly, because one or the other YouTuber kept singing about it in their videos. It was said that this is the "ultimate oriental" fragrance, so I was expecting something strong, sweet/fruity, warm and with a lot of depth. Yet all I got with Floriental is a very generic westernized "oriental" scent which smells like pencil shavings, very faint incense and a little bit of sweetness in the background from the plum. Longevity and silage are very average too (2-3 hours before it becomes a skinscent).

Overall: 4/10

Hopesparkles

Absolutely love this fragrance! To me, it reminds me a bit of Liquid Illusion by Juliette Has A Gun - minus the powdery note. So amazing and delicious!

Venusia

Woods and incence strike me at first spray, soon enough it develops a plumy sweetness and in the middle of this composition blooms an imaginary flower I can´t name, probably the combination between labdanum and sandalwood, similar to a violet-orchid-peach flower bouquet, heavenly! Vetiver gives it a perfect contour. The sillage and longevity aren´t as good as wished for, but I can´t take my nose from my wrist.
Hypnotising beauty!

g3rasimos

Amazing scent, one of my best blind buys.
When my gf smelled it, she went crasy. She loved it so much that the next day she ordered a bottle for her.

I find it a little bit dark. It reminds me somehow oud wood from TF with the addition of plum.

Colder weather, for casual night out scenarios, to a bar or restaurant. Age 25+. Performance is ok.

SocialAssassin

Not a fan. I'm not getting any incense, the plum is there but it smells closer to cherry. There's a floral element here, possibly tulip, or something similar. This fragrance is supposed to smell like an artificially created flower, and they've done a great job. The late dry-down is nice, but it's nothing to write home about. Overall, it comes off as more feminine to me, but that shouldn't stop anyone from wearing this.

mixter99

I am very surprised that this does not get the attention that it deserves.
Managed to pick it up at £50 which is a steal, it is my favourite of any CDG fragrance.

I get a blast of sweet natural plum, tobacco, wood, incense and spices which is strong but not overpowering. This smells "rich" (literally like a rich, eccentric, confident guy), unique and intoxicating. I just keep smelling the bottle as this smell is too good. I find it more on the masculine side because of the tobacco and incense and even young guys can pull this off in the day or the night. Can wear this semi-formal, formal no problem. To me the plum smells like Tom Ford plum japonaise, and this IMO is more interesting and for the fraction of the price.

Only for the colder seasons or summer nights.

for me 9/10

yann33

I don't understand why Floriental IS soooooooo underated. This IS an amazing stuff!!! This IS most beautiful plum base scent i've ever smelled.Totally unisexe with magical fonction , smell féminine on a girl and masculine on a Guy.
Not so versatile ..For suit and tie upscale event only....
Compliments: EVERYTIME!!!!!
Longevity&projection: FOR HOOOOURS
Thanks CDG for this wonderful creation

This is real nice! I have and love WonderOud, and WonderWood, now gonna be needing a bottle of this. That's 3 for 3 for me, and becoming one of my favorite houses! Yeah, it seems to have the CDG dna, but different enough not to be redundant to hace these 3. I get a slightly sweet beautiful plum note that has been soaked in wine, incense, maybe a hint of leather. Don't really smell very floral to me, maybe extract..? Projection not too good, longevity is about 7-8 hrs on me. Definitely worth the price!

neinmuses

got a 2ml tester of this and I'm in swooning in love.

the spicy, floral plum opening took my breath away, and the smokey incense that blooms underneath only made it better. this somehow feels niche and magical to me. I would buy a FB of this based simply on how gorgeous it smells alone

a8k9

Beautiful stuff.

I tried a sample of this on a strip card at a retailer along with several other fragrances. This is the one that stood out the most. The next day most of the other samples had faded beyond recognition however the Floriental strip still smelled strong.

Pepper is strong in the opening along with plum, incense and sandalwood. I get a boozy, whiskey vibe from it as well.It settles nicely into the drydown.

Longevity is great, lasts a long time. Projection however is strong initially but settles.

Probably the best from the CDG range. Recommended!

Yawn. This CDG is simply an inferior version of Tom Ford London with a little bit of plum in the first 30 seconds. In other words, the fragrance is just a ton of cumin tamed by oud. If you want a cumin fragrance, get Le Labo Vetiver 46 or Amouage Fate Man, and if you want a plum fragrance get Plum Japonais. I looked into this because Jeremy recommended it for Valentine’s Day, but it’s not worth even a look. Should have known better

ultrasilence

I do not get plum at all, what I smell are smoky wood (patchouli) and cherry tobacco. Mix it all and you will see the image of Floriental. Also, I must admit that in warm weather it may show itself differently.

Balsamic flowers.. daywear perfume. Love it ..

Absolutely unisex, relatively feminine on women's skin, and masculine on my skin. Crazy high quality niche vibe, extreme lasting power, unique, and very pleasent scent. Can't wait to purchase a bottle.

For me it's an amazing smell of plums dipped in a good expensive whiskey. I am dying to purchase it for this autumn/winter season!

yakoenturadio

Just bought it, just gorgeous smell the pink pepper blast in the beginning will open your senses then its starts balancing off with the plum base and the incense. Very creative scent to say the least, very contemporary feel. I don't consider this fragrance to be a signature scent — more for very special occasions a night out with group of friends, lounge or simply a very elegant night. Love it!

savvasamir

This was given to me as a gift by someone i love without me testing/sampling it beforehand. It is one of my favorite perfumes, if not my most favorite.
The "FLORIENTAL" constellation has incense drenched in labdanum as its gravitational force and all other notes are satellites orbiting around them.
The initial plum note has a honey/gourmandish trail that is omnipresent through out the life of the constellation. Another satellite would be the sandalwood that gives a powdery hint with balsamic facets. I don’t really perceive the pepper note, but i think i get an aromatic feel...
The beauty of the "FLORIENTAL" constellation is that although it is fully artificial and monodimensional , it's almost innovative and surprisingly natural-felling.
I am surprised that it is so under-rated by us.

Gorgeous plum scent!

I just try Floriental from CdG when I pass through the shops, I like it because it is very close in DNA to CdG Wonderoud/wood. If you can't take the full throttle dry woods and spices of Wonderoud/wood, but appreciate that distinct cashmeran-sandalwood-peppery DNA, then you should definetely try Floriental. It comes in a metallic-red box as in other CdG line, and marketed as more feminine. However in my opinion this is as masculine as Wonderwood and Wonderoud, only more floral. Ofc charming on a woman as well.

I think it's very underrated, perhaps in the shadow of other successful CdG fragrances. In my opinion this is the 3rd best after Wonderoud and Wonderwood. I like it because it's not so different than WW, but just a bit more powdery, balsamic and slightly floral version.

I do not get the plum note distinctly. Maybe my nose is not trained for that. All I get is a very close floral variation of WW and WO.

Top fragrance IMO.

Update: Just doing a side by side comparison of Floriental with Wonderwood and Wonderoud. I was wrong by not getting the obvious plum note in my earlier tests in the shop. Now doing this in home environment, no other smell distractions, and I clearly get the difference of Floriental. The DNA is the same with WW and WO, however there's significant difference and Floriental smells more rosey powdery, could be the damascones, kind of dried plums/prune plus a powdery iris effect a la Prada frags, and it definitely has some pink pepper freshness whereas WW/WO has strong black pepper/vetiver notes. Vetiver seems to be toned down in Floriental, maybe a little in the opening.

yelnats53

My first post, so please be kind.. I dont have the keen, trained nose that many of you have, so I cant pick up on all the various notes. Anyway, I LOVE this frag. I get something like spiced plumbs and smoky woods.. Even the dry down, I still smell the plume, but the wood becomes stronger. This to me smells much more natural than 90% of the designer's colognes on the market. It doesnt come on strong or the least bit cloying. But there is the bad news that keeps me from buying a bottle.. The sillage and longevity SUCK (on my skin).. after only an hour, I can very hardly smell it. Even when just sprayed on, no one 3 foot away will smell it.. and after that, they will need to press their nose on me to detect it at all..And it's a EDP.. so it's weird, cuz most of my colognes perform much better.. Oh well :(

The name says it all.

Opening with a plummy, fruity incense. This is a great quality scent, featuring (very little) florals, dry cedar and sandalwood, incense, spiced fruits and some sweetish vetiver. Unisex indeed. The base and drydown somehow seems to be based on the Wonderwood recipe.

Without being biased, this smells like the ultimate simple pleasant template for a unisex oriental to be used by any gender, that would never offend anyone. I'm not saying it's boring at all, it's just a total allround oriental people pleaser in my opinion.

Moderate projection, but long lasting. Comes off resinous and bittersweet with an excellent drydown. I imagine it would be excellent for colder fall temperatures.

SailorV

I had a sample of this, tried it on my skin and had to wash it off. The notes sounded good, but on my skin it was just sharp, very dry, woody and strong, nothing pleasant about it. I couldn't detect the plum at all, nor did I find it matching its name, Floriental. Also it's not really balsamic on me, just woody and peppery and annoying.
I'm sure it smells better on some people, but for me it's one of the worst scents ever so I would strongly recommend to try this carefully and with caution before buying.

LoreleiBluebird

What a beauty. And I had discounted it after my first test, that's a lesson learnt! I don't know what drew me back to try it again, possibly that there is that nip on the air that signals colder weather.

It's warm, spicy, smoky and ever so slightly sweet like a fruit liqueur on a winter's evening by the fire.

This will be a perfect addition to my winter collection, I want it ASAP!

shushkin

This is a very nice spicey plum fragrance. Lots of incense. I have to admit my first thought was TF Plum Japonais but without the sweetness. This is pretty dry and not very sweet at all. I think its the vetiver that gives an aromatic element. First and foremost its all about the incense with plum and a little sandalwood. Im sad that it is so linear. Its rather shocking how short lived this fragrance is considering the notes listed.

Chicago Tony T

This has a lot going on. It's fruity, smoky, and ambery. Too bad I only had a dab on vial but the dry down on this is heavenly. I am a big plum lover to begin with but mixed with the smokiness from the incense and amber touch from labdanum this is a must try for anyone looking for a great Fall/Winter scent that won't break the bank. I do get a metallic vibe as well which has been a trademark in previous CDG offerings but it's not as pronounced. Don't expect a beast mode scent as that is a Mancera/Montale/Tauer/Amouage trademark but not CDG. Do expect a well blended scent with many phases that is completely unisex. Extra kudos to whoever the perfumer is for making the plum note lasts the duration of the scent and having decent projection.

Angela Agiannidou

A masterpiece!!!!!!! But then, i expected nothing less from a House that created my beloved Avignon and Zagorsk! This is one of the most aromatic concoctions that comprises of a delicious, deep, resinous plum, smoke, pepper and sandalwood surrounded by the most soothing and aromatic vetiver with touches of semi bitter labdanum that pairs like a dream with the plum and together they monopolize the show in a resinous, delicious and utterly sultry, bittersweet love affair! I can't stop smelling my wrist! This IS addictive! I am not surprised at the title. Though there is no floral accord, this scent is floriental to its core, all colourful and spicy like the sultry eyes of a belly dancer looking erotically through her soft, silky veils. Plum is at the centre of this exotic affair but beautifully mixed with spice and resin. The overall result is smooth, creamy, seductive, wearable and memorable. Well blended, lasts a great deal and projects decently. The smoky, bittersweetness of this concoction is simply mesmerising, it takes you to another place, another world. Magic! Thank you CDG for this beauty and another gem in my wardrobe!

Update
The dry down faintly resembles Oud, there is a strong element of that, but, it could be the combination of sandalwood and Incense that leave this beguiling, aromatic trail.

groover

Beautifully done perfume from the house of
Comme des Garcons as usual, it starts a bit
weird kind of bitter but quickly turns into
a sweet pepper incense that is very plesant.

rob2b

This is like an impressionist painting of a perfume; CdG's homage to a genre, painted from a distance in an abstract way.

Plum and woods swirl around Japanese cherry blossom incense and burning oud. The vetiver adds a somber smoky blanket like a coat of varnish which finishes the perfume off and seals it in some kind of grey box. If I had to paint a visual rendition of this fragrance, I'd take an enormous canvas and paint it grey and then add a stripe of dark purple and another of turquoise. Most of the canvas remains grey, dry and barren.

This is indeed suitable for either gender, although it smells "dressy" so it wouldn't suit the gym or anything too casual - particularly for a guy.

Longevity and sillage are both good. This beast certainly has tenacity. For me, Floriental is a real winner. It layers extremely well with attars also, particularly mukhallats.

babydoll77

This is a bitter floral with a hint of something "metallic" in the background. I would say it's more for women than men, but really any very polished and "cold" personality type could pull this off. This is something for the White Witch of Narnia and not for Glinda the Good Witch types ;)

evan.deans

Given the name I did not expect this to be of much interest to me - I'm not usually particularly keen on floral scents. The notes and reviews indicated otherwise, so I bought a sample.

There is a scene in an episode of the Simpsons where a Yoko Ono-esque character orders a single plum, floating in perfume served in a man's hat. This is what I imagine when I smell this.

I will echo the others who have mentioned Plum Japonais, I find Floriental very reminiscent but WAY less overbearing in the way TF Private Blend frags tend to be. I find this to be rather unlike most of CdG's offerings I've tried so far, and despite featuring incense, it does not exude the typical incense note I associate with this house. It might not be an entirely original scent, but it's certainly unique standing next to your average department store fare.

Overall it's a really nice unisex fragrance, spicy and fruity (not fresh fruit, more like the Serge Lutens sort of heavy stewed fruits) with a woody base that comes through pretty strong (Sandalwood, I suppose). I don't pick up much Vetiver but I don't doubt its presence. Performance seems good from the sample I tried; good longevity (especially for a CdG) and projection seems appropriate for such a heavy fragrance (ie. it's there, but it shouldn't choke anyone sitting next to you). Price is mid-range, given the performance and quality of scent I think it's reasonable.

Reminds me of Mauboussin M Generation, Paul Smith Portrait for men, and Gucci Pour Homme ll. Very nice. Far too expensive compared to others with a similar vibe. Definitely unisex.

aclapes

Basenotes categorized this as a women's fragrance, but looking at the notes I don't get why should be this considered exclusive for women... I smelt it yesterday and the truth is it amazingly surprised my nostrils!

Silent.Dragon

Some great reviews, but I seem to experience something a little different. Plum for sure, but not boozy, not syrupy, not sugary, not sweet to me at all. There is a floral note that tames the plum, keeps it from stealing the show. As it dries down, you can really start to smell the sandalwood base. Smokey incense? Maybe a bit mixed in with the very obvious sandalwood. Dash some pink pepper throughout this motif, and voila, Floriental. It feels a little synthetic to me as well. I agree with most, a very nice composition, but leans toward the generic side. Having said that, it is totally safe and "office-friendly", and better than most department store frags.

stephan

Plum? I don't know, this doesn't smell like plum to me.
There is something sweet that makes this a big no for me, something like tonka bean but it is not listed.
Wonderwood is better than this, but too weak.
Floriental has slightly better performance, but this is due to the note I don't like, so...
If you are craving plum, try New York Oud (Bond), the plum in it is the best I've ever smelled.

Gwizz

Like many of the Puig CdG's (the ones in those flat oval bottles), I find Floriental to be nothing overly earth shattering in a creative sense, but still very pleasant to wear and it certainly distinguishes itself enough from the mainstream to allow the wearer to feel a little unique and mysterious. The name may be a tad misleading (I know people have been surprised that it isn't at all floral), but that's another story. The scent itself to me is luscious and basenote heavy but also really lovely, with an extremely wearable plum note and wafts of labdanum, framed by that famous CdG incense, pepper and wood base. It reminds me a lot of Tom Ford's Plum Japonaise and also somewhat of Bond No9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory, but it's still different enough to be a viable alternative, especially to the Bond. It's 100% identifiable as a CdG scent, despite any subjective similarities to those other two. It develops quite well, revealing more of its incense and sandalwood heart as time passes. Longevity is quite good and I find its projection to be fairly subtle, which is perfect for what is a reasonably dense or 'heavy' scent. Overall I think it's an eminently likeable, unisex, all seasons (but leaning towards cooler weather), fragrance that whilst being only slightly left of centre in a designer world, is still daring enough to make you stand out amongst a lot of the beige nothings worn by many humans. And that's a good thing!

Loca del Tó

This is soooo hippie! This is a sweet, leathery, sirupy, resinous sandalwood that reminds me of pencil shavings, wooden jewelry boxes and Moroccan tea salons. Nice but nothing especial.I just got a sample of this on the mail today and I'm wearing this now. It's not sexy nor clean, it kind of smells like a room inciense cone. It is a bit on the heavy side thus not office friendly and unwearable in hot weather. Unisex, but I think it would fit better on a man. In spite of the name, I can't smell the flowers here.

Note: Sprayed myself with this early this morning and now, at 22:05 I still can smell it very well. This is really long lasting.

There´s a cheap hippie oil by Tree of Life called Shalimar that does not smell of Guerlain´s Shalimar, but in fact is a sweetish, sirupy, pencil shavings sandalwood that smells very similar to this. If you like Floriental but want a cheaper alternative, try Shalimar perfume oil by Tree of Life, only 3€.

My oh my! This is stunning.
I had a feeling I might like it but wow...I'm blown away by it.
Started out beautifully enough with a strong plum note which even my girlfriend identified (I'm finally rubbing off on her...not a euphemism..) it's like aspects of my favourite perfumes rolled into one, then released by one of my favourite houses. Floriantal is a perfect storm if you like and it had to happen sooner or later. I'm giddy with excitement about this perfume...anyway as I was saying that lush plummy opening is mixed with the sweet spice of pink pepper and incense. I was thinking if this just has an Ambery warm dry down it will be great...but it's better than that folks. Now that this has dried down its pure Labdanum/myrrh and high quality sandalwood it smells very much like Aramani Myrrhe imperial...seriously. What a transition though because as great and incensy as the opening is I didn't think it would end up here? It's like a two (or more) for one! Really this is not just mindless hyperbole....I adore this fragrance!!!!!
All this is a fragrance called floriental and it has almost nothing to do with flowers!!! Well actually no, the heart and top notes do have an exotic floral essence in there and this reimagining of a flower (reminiscent of some kind of blossom like plum Japonais) actually works really well. I'm going to say it...masterpiece. Pure and simple...I'm fairly easily pleased but don't take anything away from the high praise I'm giving this fragrance because it deserves it. It doesn't quite have the devestating power of Blue Santal but even has a little bit of the same feel throughout and performance is excellent...truly excellent.
Please do yourselves a favour an check out this fragrance it's an ultra modern surprise package which I am more than happy with....as you can probably tell.

Houdini4

I can't wait to get my nose on this.Comme des Garçon are brilliant and the notes look like my wet dream. Seriously everything in here is my favourite...Labdanum, plum, sandalwood, incense, pink pepper...I've gotta have this...I just hope it's not awful.

alfarom

I approached Floriental with very low expectations because while I'm surely amongst the biggest fans of Comme Des Garcons, their Puig-owned branch (responsible for all the fragrances in the oval-shaped flacons) it's not the best example of the house's creative vein. Floriental is definitely not a creative fragrance and despite it's all about very familiar oriental accords, it's also so easy to pull off that it makes a perfect daily wear for anyone who's up for something reasonably priced the doesn't feel cheap to too derivative.

We talk about a balmy oriental with the typical CDGs woody-incense base, hints of sandalwood and vetiver, some smooth florals and a pale fruity vibe. It feels completely genderless, with a velvety texture that never falls into overly screechy synth territories. Ok, it's probably not the most original blend around but, as usual with Ccomme Des Garcons, it feels incredibly honest, never cheap and incredibly wearable by anyone.

Put this juice in a whatever high-end niche bottle and you will have to pay at least 200 bucks for 50mls. From Amouage to Tom Ford via the plethora of *new niche* brands.

Rating: 7/10

bronstein

This is good quality from first sniff. It has a male feel to it but declaring it unisex also makes sense and is, in addition, slightly reminiscent of Fleur du Male. In summary, it is spicey and well composed, although it reminds me a bit of coloured pencils.

TF's Plum Japonais meets Puredistance's Black. Fantastic! Feels like it has Antoine Lee's fingerprint all over it. Love CdG.

moodypaws

It's a good, long-lasting amber but it smells very similar to L'Occitane's Ambre et Santal. So if you fancy saving some cash go for the latter. You're welcome

amer1212

"Floriental "

Its an oriental composition, starts fruity plumy little flowery spicy then transforms to smoky woody waft with little sandalwood and Incense & additionally with little ambery sensual senses , the musky flowery vibe still plays here with sugary vetiver touch in the background .

I found "Floriental" little hype or new style of an traditional spiritual oriental scent ,its little modern and avantgard to my nose ، But still wearable & quite unique .

Edit 19/12/2016 : after several full wearings and testings I discovered that Floriental its such a distinctive masterwork , deep quality and stylish niche scent from GDG , that deserves more attention and who knows maybe Amouage in the future will release something like this and costs several more 3x times !

Romantic & modernizing "Floriental ".
9/10.

epicurean

Meetings at CdG must be a laugh-a-minute. "Hey, let's call this woody perfume Floriental to show how avant garde and post-modern we are!"

Leaving the name to one side, this is a close relation of Marc Jacobs' Decadence on my skin. The notes are very similar and are still synthetic, but the vetiver is a little less brash.

If you want a bottle that looks like a handbag, go for Decadence. If you want a more minimalist look and a slightly higher price, go for this. I shan't be going for either; Floriental will smell better on a man in my opinion.

Roge

This is a in-your-face gewgaw of a fragrance. Precisely something more reserved for a debutante. About as moderate as the name Floriental leads you to believe. A pinkened vetiver with a sugary haze almost virgin like with an ambery twist. I'm not too inspired to bloviate any further...*shoulder shrug*. If you want to try a better Floriental, try Karl Lagerfeld's Floriental.

Pepperflower

Smells like a modern hippie hangout. Opens up with pepper and sandalwood and vetiver. It turns leathery from the labdanum. Kind of smells dank and it's got a bit of ash smell like incense. And that what it smells like to me, sweet incense sticks and cones all burning around you while your sitting on colorful "Moroccan" pillows from Pier 1 Imports and Anthropologie. I like it, but it's not a must buy, it would make a great room smell as a candle or so.

Trobador

Would it smell like Chambre Noir Olfactive Studio?

deadidol

This smells like a composite of the floriental genre’s greatest hits — a Warholian Factory approach to the big, goopy, semi-sweet oudy-rose. Take any number of anonymous Arabic cheapies (Kalemat, Ragbha etc.) or any of the Tom Ford rose-and-sandalwood scents (Noir de Noir, Santal Blush etc.), boil them down to their key parts, scrape the parts clean, then rebuild the scent from the ground up with Amouage’s Memoir Woman in mind, and this will be the result. There’s the heady “floral" accord — totally vague, but somewhat connected to a damascone rose. There’s a spiced fruit accord that sits between plummy fruit and Western oud (Plum Japonais). Then there’s a sweet resin and synth-wood base with a wallop of patchouli for body. It’s essentially a meditation on a cliche. Although it’s utterly redundant, it’s basically the Platonic blueprint of this style of perfume and therefore well-suited for the clean-lines CdG fan who wouldn't otherwise allow anything so ostentatious to enter their world.

glitterlust

There is nothing floral in this scent, that's not the end of the world though I'm sure some people will be put off by the name where they might like the scent (and vice versa). I get a dry, powdery sandalwood laced with a little sweetness from the plum and pink pepper. If I stretch my imagination I can see elements of Kingdom and Rochas Femme but this is more masculine. To me it seems sufficiently unisex tending masculine.

This genre is not my area of expertise so I can't appreciate any subtleties it might have. I can attest that they've nailed 'creative confusion' in the concept rather than the scent. On the upside, it has decent sillage for hours so if you like the smell you'll be happy.
