Boring and fumey.
Vetiver + lavender mixed with petrol and shower gel.
VERDICT: No thanks, real headache inducing stuff.

gharper

This is a very underrated scent, overshadowed by its more popular counterparts. Performance is good, it’ll last me the entire school day with decent projection. It’s a great mass appealing, well complimented fragrance.

Spasticink

You like D&G The One and vetiver stuff? Say no more. 2 in 1, well blended. This should be named D&G The One Sport or something.
There are rumors this might be discontinued.

Demus Anum

Extremely beautiful. Fresh green basil, lavender, and geranium. Spicy cardamom and coriander seeds. Cool patchouli and clary sage. Can't get enough, addicted. Light bright sweet grapefruit yet deep aromatic tobacco. Sexy, unique, cozy, mellowing. My signature scent on par with Mr Burberry EDT.

Deekerr16

I was hoping this would have more The One DNA in it, and more vetiver. But this really feels like 99.99% lavender and the only hints of tobacco are very airy and weak - like without the supporting notes from The One EDP it has no weight to it.

Fragranceprince91

Let me start by saying how disappointed I am to see how much downplay this fragrance get. Sadly, one of the more toxic traits within the community, is that the moment a flanker is released, it's either too similair to the original or people instead complain that it's not close enough to it. Come on people, what point would having a flanker bring with it if it smells the same as the OG!?

The same goes for this underrated gem of a fragrance. If you would smell this without pre-programming your mind on to see if it smells like the OG The One or the EDP version, you may find its true quality as a stand alone fragrance and appreciate how good this scent actually is. With that being sad, on to the review:

Beginning with the initial blast, I predominantly got the grapefruit and coriander, mixed with the vetiver. To my surprise though, it instantly reminded me of another fragrance that nearly smells identical to this, albeit done in a simpler smelling composition. It was Givenchy Pour Homme 2002 (red bottle). I looked to see if someone mentioned it at the reminds me of section, but this doesn't seem to be the case. If you look at the note breakdown of that one, you can see that 5/8 notes are also present in The One Grey. What I also got was a Lalique Encre Noir vibe, specifically the Sport version. Now don't get me wrong, The One Grey does not have the Encre Noir lines inky signature, rather it's the same type of vetiver used in that line which is also clearly present in the One Grey. EN Sport also has grapefruit and lavender in the note breakdown, so that may explain even further why I thought about it.

Basically The One Grey is as if you took OG The One's DNA and mixed in Givenchy Pour Homme and made the vetiver note smell the same as the one used in the EN line, but dialed up a notch in potency. The initial opening can be a bit challenging because of the bitter grapefruit, but still is more tolerable and slightly softer than the grapefruit opening of The Givenchy Pour Homme, even though they smell very close.

Luckily for some, the grapefuit here tones down fairly quickly and what I found to be one of the more pleasant surprises of this scent, is the way it blends in with the rest of the notes in no time. The result is a very pleasant, to some even beautiful fresh spicy scent, resting on a dense vetiver base accompanied by the signature The One tobacco note. The rest of the notes are detectable, but like mentioned before they are well blended with the other more prominent notes.

People have mentioned it to be linear in smell which I do agree on, but this is far from a 'boring' type of a scent when you would actually disect the composition and understand how it's constructed in terms of the note breakdown from top till the base.

In general I would not consider this a mind blowing type of fragrance, but it is obvious that this was never its intention. In my opinion this is severely underrated and would definitely recommend to try this out if you're looking for a solid work/office scent and/or a more versatile version of The One.

Season: Fall / Early Spring

Occasion: Work / (Semi) Formal

Daytime / Nighttime: Daytime

Performance: Moderate projection with 6 - 8 hours longgevity, definitely one of the better performing flankers

Nice, safe, boring...but that's ok!!! Lol
There are some environments/situations where I don't want to stand out, but still smell nice. This does just that for me.

madieraman

The name is fitting because this is exactly what you would think the color grey would smell like. Very boring shower gel scent. I honestly can't figure out if I like this or not.

**Update** Every time I would smell this it would remind me of something that I couldn't put my finger on until now. This smells like Dove Men's Care Extra Fresh Shower Gel, which I have a bottle of. So I sprayed Grey on my hand, then I grabbed the shower gel, and they smell EXACTLY the same!

buggaluggachug

the name is very fitting i will say. but its very boring, and done many times. you've smelt this vetiver citrus combo a million times i promise. does not project whatsoever, you have to literally put your nose on it. pretty much a pointless fragrance.

imran241318

Opening smell like CK Ethernity Men. Drydown the DnG The One edt DNA comes out.
Smells good.
Longevity around 5hours.

JasParekh

The One DNA for office. You can totally smell those citruses in the opening with a hint of tobacco in the bg. Its smells good & non offensive but is linear and sits close to the skin. Don't expect a any projection or sillage from this One because you'd be wearing this for yourself.
Pro Tip: Overspray!

AaronAlroy

I have been sitting on a bottle of this for 3 years.
Blind bought because of the tobacco base and what a disappointment.
It's a linear citrus and spices with no projection or longevity.
I tried macerating it in the dark for 8 weeks, which brought out more of the lavender and wore it maybe once more.
It's a safe scent because someone has to be within 5cm of your skin to smell it.

If you are a lawyer or work in finance, I'm sure you'll adore it.

JK321

Got this perfume a week back. Did not think it was great one. And to be honest, I will agree to all the Cons listed on top. It just dosen't do it for me. But I will admit this is way cheap compared to others. Mabey you can use this as a daily wear to the gym or something. The notes are good but overall the longevity is weak and less projection. Smells a tiny bit synthetic too.

JacobMolen

This is quite the gem when you want to wear the DNA typical of The One but you want it office safe. This is really nice! Don´t sleep on it!

Toby Farms

"I sprayed it on and I was like wow, well thats a little underwhelming actually, but I bought into it." - George Atkinson.

The unfortunate part is that I have the Exclusive Edition bottles and the EDP before grabbing this one. This is a forgetful scent that underwhelms and underperforms, where i cannot smell anything after 1 hour - so this will immediately begin collecting dust towards the back of my collection.
I could wear this to work but I'm sure the scent would disappear before lunchtime.

Pros:
- Price
Cons:
- Poor performance
- Boring and uninteresting scent
- A big drop off if you have the EDP or
Royal or Mysterious Night

meltybutter

I wear this to work, very nearly everyday. It's pretty bland, has almost no projection, and will disappear without a trace sooner than you think. This is simply a utility scent, perfect for when you need something, but want to remain unobtrusive.

singingmammoth2513

Underrated masterpiece (lets keep it underrated so we will smell unique). Very good price tag for what it is. If you like lavender then you’ll love this. This frag can be used for summer, which imo this is for those who don’t like blue frags with the typical citrus bombs or mineral/sea notes (like me).

So far i only sprayer ONE spray on my wrist while sitting on my desk doing some work. This one spray went a really long way. I was able to smell it and pick up the scent very consistently for about 3 hrs (which usually I would never be able to smell frags on my skin) and the other 4-5 hours it’s sillage decreased a bit.

Would defo recommend this to anyone.

MaxMuscle85

I’m not sure if it’s just me but when I spray it on it seems to immediately become a skin scent. So far I’m a bit disappointed with the one grey. I’ll give an update after I get some more wears with it.

EDIT: This isn’t going to turn heads a grab a ton of attention but smell nice and does last a decent time but the projection is fairly weak. 👍 for the office.

Wax

This is a gorgeous fragrance, the prior reviews have done this justice. I only wish they produce a more potent version of this. I would like it to be just a bit more projecting and have a couple hours more in duration. But it is wonderful as is all around.

NPC_73293721

Very underrated.
If you love The One, you’ll also love this.
It’s a fresher, brighter version that retains all of the sexiness of The One.
The marketing for this fragrance was a flop, which is a blessing because you can pick up a 100 ml tester bottle of this slept-on beauty for about $35.
“No ragrets”

Edit: I use 10 sprays when wearing The One EDP and have to use about 20 sprays to get the same effect with The One Grey.

Dylanturek

I just got a 100ml tester for something like $40 and I am super excited for this blind buy score! Up front is a blast of citrus, but not too sharp like some other freshies can be at first, the edges are smoothed out by something in the heart of the fragrance. I'm not knowledgeable enough to pretend which notes are doing what specifically, but I can tell you it definitely smells fantastic. The drydown is fresh but in a very smooth and powdery sort of way. The single word I would use to describe the whole experience from start to finish is "smooth". There's nothing rough or abrasive about anything in this fragrance and for that reason, I think it likely makes a very versatile scent in spring all the way up to high heat summer days. I also think this could be a dumb reach vacation scent as it has just enough powdery sweetness to pull double duty at night. All in all, I'm surprised at how much more expensive this fragrance feels than it's price. I might not be a fragrance expert, but I own a reasonable collection of designer and niche frags and I can tell the difference between something that is great because it cost very little, and something that is great and also costs less than it's value. This is definitely the latter and I can't recommend it enough to anyone who isn't interested in writing off fragrances because so called frag heads and influencers deem it boring or unworthy. Who cares what anyone else thinks? It's your nose that matters the most and it's your money, so spend it on what you like!

Update 06/07: this fragrance really is beautiful. So far, I've most enjoyed it on cooler, rainy days. Not sure why, but it just gives a very comforting and cozy sort of feel in gloomier weather. Also, you need to spray the hell out of it to get any performance or longevity. I agree with the comments above about wanting a more intense version with better longevity. I would a niche price (low niche price) for a more potent version of this scent. Until then, it's a skin scent in two hours and gone another three after that. Good thing it's dirt cheap! I apply like I'm putting on bug spray for a hike in May!

Catalyn124

Fresh The One,good for 10+ Celsius for The One lovers like me. Is safe, office, clean fragrance,is performing better than the one edp witch is a joke. I blind buy it for like 35 $ and no regret :) . It is not something that you will remember, but very safe.

Rdeveny

Instant love. Vetiver, Lavender, Floral. Smell like expensive hand lotion to me. Great dumb reach when you don't know what to wear. Works for all occasions. I got this one before all of the other "The One's" and was disappointed in them due to everyone's mediocre reception of The One Grey and high praise of the other. I was expecting so much more from them. Grey is on par with The One EDP in my opinion, which is to say, I love it.

Pherm

I’m not one who really goes for huge projection, or bold scents, so I ignored the reviews saying it was too boring and forgettable thinking that would make it a good office scent.
But that is no joke, after spraying this on it is almost instantly forgotten. Luckily I just got a sample and not a whole bottle, because after a few days of wearing it I can confidently say it wouldn’t be a good buy for me.

The only pro would be if you wanted to wear this during the day, then switch to The One EDP for night.

Scent of gentleman

We don't always need a beast mode loud to the max fragrance. On daily basis, we just want to smell nice and fresh to people close to us. The One Grey is created for that purpose, IMHO. Gentle, fresh, clean, alluring. Great for office or school. Longevity is decent with 6 sprays.

ktp2309

Underrated and much better than it's current score. Well balanced between fresh and sweet. The Clary Sage and Vetiver is especially lovely in this. Very versatile and inoffensive and can be worn in most occasions without sticking out...but you still won't be smelling like everyone else. Also good for all seasons. A real Swiss knife fragrance that isn't boring.

Kinggeebee

Nope, just no!
Gave it away after 10+ wearings.
Weak, non descript.
If you have money to waste, go ahead.

hellofrank

What a beautiful One !
An amazing variant of "The One" DNA with citrus and woods and definitely some nice fig-leaf too in it I feel.
Reminds me slightly of the Ferragamo Pour Homme and Ferragamo PH Subtil too due to the above reason.

Longevity may not be too great, but a good add on for any collector.

Tiscoffski

The smell is lovely. It’s simplistic and very versatile in my opinion. A sweet, clean linen scent with a touch of light citrus. I do prefer to wear this in warmer weather however I can’t see it being an issue in the fall or maybe even the winter. It’s not the strongest in terms of projection but it’s grabbed a couple of peoples attention in my experience.

ricarvic

Completely underrated!!! Smells great, lasts and projects great, it’s cheap!!! It’s the vetiver version of the One!!

QuincesI

Well, seen and seen and seen again, but at the same time very easy to wear. No one would certainly notice if it disappeared from the shelves but since it wouldn't hurt a fly either, I will be nice.

Personally, it's not a pyramid that I dislike. The head chord is well described by others and is indeed very sweet, not unpleasant to my nose. I then get something more along the lines of vetiver-geranium than any cistus or tobacco aspect, but it's not bad, not transcendent but not annoying.

I don't know how much it sells for in perfumeries but if it's relatively on the order of its D&G comparses, why not for someone with a small-medium budget, who would like to indulge himself with classic "masculine" but without it being too flashy (well, to the nose).

Clearly not the kind of compositions that interest me neither from the point of view of consumer ethics, nor from the point of view of artistic effort, but to tell you the truth (just to admit a little bit my latent value judgments, too), I was expecting much worse. For me, it is not unpleasant, even rather pleasant.

I can see a young man wearing it in his 20s: I think it has that soft, sensual look that often goes with "sport" names (which it doesn't). And note: Herault is the nose behind Amazigreen too, so maybe that explains some of it.

ry_ta

Spring / fall, daytime. Has some of The One DNA, but somehow made fresh and more appropriate for day time & professional settings. I agree with the other person that it should be called The One Green. The reviews feel off here. It's only $105~ CAD for 100mL which is not bad. I prefer The One Gentleman but if you collect these then this is worth the buy.

If you plan on wearing The One EDP later in the day, this is a nice one to start the day with.

Spinaltap

A simple clean scent that you’ll be very unlikely to offend anyone with but does so in a better way than the million other fragrances that fall into this category. It sits close to the chest, is clean yet warm, smooth, inviting and different enough to be fun to wear. I spray about 5 times on my chest and consistently get 8ish hours. I blind bought on a whim and am glad I did.

My wife’s thoughts: “It’s not bad”.

Summary: It’s a pretty good (not mind blowing) clean safe office scent.

Bradlee.t

Solid fragrance for fall/winter date nights or nights out. For me, this fragrance has a strong projection that is long lasting. Tobacco and vetiver come out with the dry down, while still being fresh. Opens with a grapefruit bold vibe. Received many compliments wearing this.

DoubleN

this fragrance does not smell good. I cant smell any of the listed mid notes. I dont know what it reminds me of, but it is something I do not like. It reminds me of a fake synthetic wood, I blind bought and regret. ...Their are few scents I dislike or hate but this one I hit the dislike button

scottgiles86

Slightly fresher than The One and more versatile. I prefer this smell over the original. Vetiver is a great touch...herbal and not soapy, and doesn't take anything away from The One DNA. Date, office, casual; this one's got you covered. Great value too - my 100ml tester was only $30 and came with a cap. Shame it doesn't last more than 3 hours, but that's par for the course with this line.

3NO7

Smells like a buttoned up version of the original. Less spicy but still very nice. Can wear for any occasion including a date. It would still work very well for a date.

The vetiver in there is nice too. Blends well and is noticeable but not overly so.

There’s no good reason why it should get such low ratings.

The One Grey is a sleeper. Grapefruit and Vetiver have been done under sport and fraiche labels for any and every designer brand. What makes the grey one special, however, is the added tobacco in addition to the usual floral mix that is used to balance the fresher notes.

The added depth makes this a fantastic fragrance and it gets even more points for making me appreciate the original one edt even more. The grey one edt intense projects as strongly as the original edt but the sharper grapefruit and vetiver are in contrast to the amber from the original. Initially, I did not like the original due to its sweetness yet it grows on me more and more after all these years, and again even more now after trying this one. The tobacco note D&G used in the grey one make me want to wear it again and again and also wear the original for the more balanced and warm experience too. What a beauty!

oKay23

If grey vetiver had more depth and was a fraction of the price.

Good projection, and good longevity for an edt.

gxbjw

This fragrance is the epitomy of “Try before you judge” saying.

It’s surprisingly very good. The negativity for The One Grey on YouTube comment sections or other platforms are plainly unjustified.

I suspect the brief for the perfumer was pretty simple; The One, but for office -- and I think they nailed it on the head. The One Grey is fresh, ultra clean with a slight touch of cardamom making it interesting, but still attached to its designated line.

For me personally, the combination of cardamom, tobacco and vetiver is absolute killer. Making the scent unique enough for it not to be boring, but very easy to like.

The performance is average at best. Not surprising since its predecessors share the same characteristic.

Try it. I’m not saying you’ll be blown away and instantly buy it, but you’re missing out if you haven’t smelled a definite overhated hidden gem.

DatAsianGuy

Not sure if I got a bad batch or it went bad or something, but it smelled like play-dough to me. Gonna go to the store and get a tester to smell and then I will come back and edit this.

Yessamin

A new take on a signature classic with cardamom top notes and lavandin and vetiver heart notes.

Contemporary but bold. That's what D&G does best and this fragrance is no exception.
Cardamon and vetiver combine for a simple yet striking scent. Any man wearing it will likely draw compliments.

EdT intense

Theodorapo

This one is for people who find the edp heavy for summer. A very nice blend of the original + vetiver. If you like the one you will most probably like this one too. As usual performance and longevity are not the best. Personally i find it an all season perfume for any occasion. A fresh variant of the original, quite unique and can get compliments too.

Bigmike650

Clean and sexy 🔥💪🏼

Enock128

Blind buy. First experience from the line. Smells very classy and office like. Definitely don't have anything similar in my collection. Closest would be Hugo Reversed. I think it's the vetiver note reminding me of Hugo. Going to give it a full wear to work and see how I like it and measure performance.

turnerscott

This stuff smells alot like Agua de Florida. But way way lighter. Lol i mean it smells alot like that. Just figured it out.

Mguilly88

A nice smelling fragrance. It definitely is very similar to the original “the one”. It’s just toned down a lot. With a fresh twist perfect for warmer months.

wdpnrds

This isn't amazing like the OG. It's a bad version of it. Vetiver and minty the one dna.

lovethatsmellalot

This one smells like Roja Elysium and The One had a baby. It's the vetiver. And you can't convince me otherwise.

Smells really nice. Very easy to wear.

weirddavey

Don't understand all the negativity here. This is amazing. Like the OG, just a little fresher and longer lasting. Love it.

fisken23

Picked this one up the other day, blindbuy. I’m a fan of the OG but I did not have high hopes…
But damn, how wrong I was!! It’s so good!!!
The OG DNA is without a doubt in there but it’s freshened up.
Green/Grey scent that i’m going to wear in spring, summer and fall. It smells better in the air than on skin.

riff65

A beautiful, clean, fresh, versatile perfume. Although they kept the The One for men DNA, this flanker takes a totally different route than that of The One line. So if you are a fan of the warm spicy The One EDT or EDP, you may find this one a little underwhelming. The One Grey (fresher) resembles the discontinued The One Gentleman (more spicy with the pepper opening), which has been my favorite. I would say The One Grey to wear at daytime, with a The One Gentleman layering in the evening.

Jerre

I have both the Grey and the original in EDP. I prefer the GREY although I love the way both of them smell.
For me, GREY, lasts longer and projects better but retains that same vibe from the original with a little more vetiver and smoother cardamom. This smells like the inside of a fine quality guitar case. Those wonderful wood textures and leather all wrapped around a plush velvet interior.
A well stated and masculine scent profile. Friendly and inviting but never demanding. This will put people around you at ease.
Longevity 7.5/10
Sillage 7/10
Projection 7/10
Scent 10/10
Overall 8/10

J.aomeke

It’s a great fragrance

washudtoj

Thankfully this one is not 'oriental' or ambery, unlike the original.

Which is why I like this one a lot.

The opening is amazingly bright. It's the only perfume that my mom (who hates perfumes) commented that this 'smelt nice.' She has (involuntarily) smelt dozens of perfumes on me, and this is the only one that got a positive comment from her. (Not that I have bad taste - her nose is just ultra sensitive that she regards CK One Gold, which smells like nothing, as 'strong'.)

Dry down is extremely smooth blending of incense (yes, it's there, despite not listed in the notes), tobacco, and vetiver. A night-and-day difference from the opening. It's not cloying or heavy, which I'm very grateful for. It's just smoky yet light enough that makes you think about a grey rainy day in the Alps. It's just brilliant.

There's a hint of sweetness to it, which I also enjoy tremendously.

So if you're hesitant because this is marketed as The One's flanker and you don't like The One (original), don't be. In fact, forget that it's The One's flanker. Treat it as a standalone and sample it. You might like it, as I do.

This perfume gets lots of hate because, I reckon, fans of The One were expecting for it to be in the same vibe and it turns out to be markedly different. All I can say is I'm glad it turned out this way as I cannot stand 'oriental' fragrances.

mazga

'Excuse me, are you wearing The One Grey?' - said nobody ever.

Now that I own all of them I have to say it : redundant. This is so close to the EDT...I mean I still love it but I don't see anyone and I mean ANYONE distinguishing this from the OG while wearing it. The performance comes as and added minus...if that makes any logic 🤪.

OhTheParfum ♥

Hi lovelies ♥ can anyone confirm if this is getting discontinued or not, TIA ♥

Criglett Clussnum

For me with the D&G The One frags I always notice the tobacco note. It's what these are centered around with some sweetness and freshness around it. The Grey smells just like how it looks. It literally smells Grey which is great because Grey is a nice shade. It's not sweet like the original but it has some florals and freshness to round out the tobacco. It smells masculine and it's one you can wear all day long for any occasion in my opinion. This is a great all around fragrance that stays down the middle. It's a great one to have in your collection for quick reach purposes and for good times.

The previous review is retained below for transparency's sake. This is an EDITED review.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one went and caught me off guard. Weeks after purchase, I was rearranging my collection, and went to move this to the back, since it had been SUCH a disappointment that I couldn't imagine wearing it. As I went to move it, I gave it one last sniff, as I always like to refresh my impression of a scent as I'm sorting. And WOW, had things changed.

Evidently, the batch from which my bottle came had not fully macerated before being sent out into the world, because 6ish weeks on my bureau transformed this from a bottle of vodka strained through sawdust to this subtle, warm, woodsy creature that I had never encountered before.

As I hadn't sprayed on yet, I gave my wrist a shot, did the neck dab, and wafted... and there was the grapefruit top note I had heard so much about... and then the cardamom, and then the woods in the dry down... I sat in my room for almost a full hour just staring at the bottle, sniffing my wrist, shaking my head, and repeating.

I won't say this is a favourite or anything of that nature, but it DID wind up in the second row back amongst the bottles, rather than all the way back, as I was planning on placing it. I am very glad to be wrong here, and even more glad not to be out the near-retail price I paid for it. I give it a solid 8/10, and a tip-of-the-hat for teaching me about maceration and why it's important.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW:

I'm going to be honest here, this was a massive disappointment to me. I watched all of the non-hype, then the backlash extreme hype, and figured I'd give it a try... and frankly, I can barely smell it. This morning, I hit myself with 15 sprays, and I could smell damp, alcoholic sawdust for about 20 minutes, and then nothing. No "skin fragrance", nothing on my clothes, no "The One DNA" just nothing at all. I even brought the bottle to the office and asked a couple of my coworkers to (1) smell me, (2) smell a couple of tester strips, and (3) spray themselves, if they were so inclined, all of which in case I'd gone scent-blind on it... but just like me, they got nothing.

Easily the biggest let-down of a scent I've ever encountered. I hope to the gods of perfume that it's a bad bottle/batch.

kvrnqo

The reason why people are hating this is because of the high standard of the one edp. EDP is really a Mona Lisa of a fragrance. But The One Grey has its own beauty. It's more versatile than the one edp, the grapefruit gives energy to it while maintaining the The One DNA class in the dry down. For all casual frag buyers out there this scent is GREAT! And It even performs way better than the 2020 batches of The One edps which already a 1 to 2 hrs. scent. Very versatile and unique outside The One line. Get it before they slash it or the prize goes high, it's quite cheap in the discounters atm just below $50 for 100ml bottles.

Now with grapefruit, cardamom, lavender and patchouli , this should be a winner by default in my book. It really does start off like a GF/cardamom beast, with some nice subtle notes of burned beech and leaves of beech. It does settle well on clothes/your shirt collar, but on skin it just doesn't last on warmer days. It may be a summer note to be worn in winter/fall idk, but forget about longevity in the 15 degrees+ days, it just evaporates faster than you can say Dolce..

To me the best flanker to the original, and that's a safebuy in my book. No one will dislike this

DodgersLH714

This is a very spicy vetiver with small THE ONE components. Love this scent, some people here are calling it generic, but I don't think of many frags its trying to emulate. The vetiver is so crisp, this scent can be a year rounder, get it before the slash it.

neodave

This is turning into a summer favorite for me. Some describe it as having a metallic vibe. I would have never come up with that description on my own but I totally agree. It's a simple clean oddly spicy summer scent. It lasts a respectable 5 or 6 hours for me. And at around 35 bucks for a 100 ml it's a great bargain. Its my first one from 'The One' line and I'm not a big fan of this style cap but it works. I need to grab another bottle in case they axe this one.

Cdub5_

I hate grapefruit in fragrances. Grapefruit can smell sour on the skin. So, with The One Grey it smells way better on my clothing than it does on my skin. Admittingly, while it dries down the smell does become more tolerable on the skin, but on clothing it's pretty good from the start.
I would see no reason to rush out and buy this unless you are collecting fragrances. There's better out there. I knew what I was getting into when I purchased this, and unfortunately, they were kinda right.
So, not bad, not great, there's better out there...

the_internetguy

I was smelling lots of fragrances today in a Sephora. This one was very pleasant. Not very unique or full of character, but I could probably make some good use of this in day-to-day wear.

federico.rev

Another boring fragrance that smell like generic-everything clean product like. Citrusy opening with some spice in it and a vetiver dry down, synthetic vibe throughout the all thing. Labdanum ??? Patchouli ???? Tobacco ???? Where exactly ?
You can't smell anything in particular, just a very boring, mass pleasing fragrance that last like 2 hours max.
The name is actually very accurate, a grey fragrance, that smell like everything, boring, again without any personality, perhaps what new generations like, and what reflect them

StevenFromCalifornia

To me its very simple. Its the one but with vetiver on top of it, a smooth and light vetiver, not overpowering that "the one" smell at all. I am happy i picked it up, and for the price.... Its great. I think it lasts longer than the one EDT by around double or more... I wear it to work, i work outside, end up reapplying it at lunch time and when i get home 5 hours later its faint but i smell it.

Samir66

This was a great pick-up for me. Over the years I always passed this by thinking it was just another money grab. I was wrong!! It has a purpose & it does that well. I get about 5-6 hours longevity and a scent bubble in my personal space. As you move around, others will pick up your scent. It’s an easy dumb reach.

It’s nothing groundbreaking, you won’t be the Pied Piper of fragrances but as an office friendly scent you can’t go wrong. I see this as a daytime spring /summer work scent & you can change it up in the evening when it’s cooler with The One edt or edp.
The One Grey maintains the original DNA of The One, it’s just fresher & more versatile. Smells really nice & masculine. Worthy of being in my collection.
8/10 👍🏾

Edit: Very underrated!

Scubasteve84

This is interesting there's a faint hint of the original, yet it takes a very different path - one that is not bad but hard to define. A fragrance doesn't have to be "something" but I feel that this one suffers from an identity crisis of sorts.

Its not "the one" and its so far removed you would call it a distant 3rd cousin. Where the original opens up with something incredible this opens up with something slightly offensive, it smells like oranges and mandarins have been left to sit too long in the sun. Ripe citrus, hint's of cardamom and basil pay homage to original but overall fall well short. But wait 30-60 minutes later and you have a nice creamy woodsy vetiver scent that balances well with the subtle spices.

I can see this being a scent that grows on me, initially I wasn't impressed but as it settles down it becomes something wonderful, unique and luxurious. I look forward to trying this in warmer weather - its winter right now and I don't think this is a winter fragrance. I prefer the original and I would not recommend blind buying this.

The vetiver here gives the original dna such a magnificent twist that is beautifully made
Longevity is moderate almost no sillage

Some compare this to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I think this is much more grapefruity than Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I find this more distinctive and better smelling. Grey Vetiver is mostly vetiver and smells very clean, bland, and unobtrusive, while in The One Grey I find grapefruit to be the dominant note, at least in the beginning, although it blends nicely with the lavender, clary sage, vetiver, tobacco, and other scents. Rich, pleasant, grapefruit.

f0ster5

Well it's called Grey because it has obvious "inspired by" TF's Grey Vetiver vibes, a grapefruit and vetiver bomb just like this. I think it gets hated on because they called it "The One" making people buy it thinking it's going to actually smell like something from The One line, and well.. it doesn't. It's a grey vetiver dupe, easily; which means yes it does indeed smell good, but the performance is pretty terrible. I got it for only about 35$ for a full 100mL bottle which is a good price so I can't complain about having what is basically a lighter grey vetiver for a 1/4th of the price.

Scotty123

Nothing really new to say here it has The One DNA, with a fresh green Vetiver dry down. By no means is the performance BEAST mode! But it definitely does perform much much better than the great smelling crappy original edt, that projects 30 mins and lasts 2 hrs. I personally would have rather it been a lot stronger almost on a Parfum level with how much I enjoy this fragrance, but I’ve learned that’s not D&G’s style apparently. However as I’ve stated I really really like this fragrance! It’s a great fragrance. I was looking for a nice vetiver scent and I think I found it with this one. I may get a stronger one eventually but this one will suffice for now.

dabatch

pleasant, light vetiver (not very common). no wonder people which used to like the original "the one" and the eau de parfum can't stand it. for me actually, this, the one gentleman and sport are best in the line. 7/10.

This is an amazing fragrance. Why this is not loved is because a lot of people are used to unique, complex frags that develop and are interesting. If this came out 10 years ago or more, it would have been the best seller, no questions asked. The fragrance is amazing. It takes that tobacco the one EDT DNA and just ads the citrus and vetiver. It is the EDT but with citrus, fresher. Lasts longer than the EDT and can be work in spring and hot summer. It is for causal, formal, office, night out... it is so safe that it can be worn for any occasion and it will smell amazing. No one will complain and everyone will say you smell top! It is so safe that anyone can wear it. I don't see this not forking for someone.

In I think that it is disliked because of that. It is so safe that a lot of people find it boring and not interesting, which it is to people that have 100 bottles and have smelled all that there is. But for the majority of people, this will hit the right spot. If you like The One, this is the blue or summer version. Get it, even blind buy as you won't make a mistake. But only if you like The One EDT and EDP and try not to listen to the reviewers much on this one as many reviewers are just that... th4ey have smelled so much that this is very... bland and grey to them so they will bash it and it will be a huge pass. But trust me, women LOVE The One DNA and they love a fresh smell on a man and this is the prefect combo of fresh, spicy and elegance which every woman will love. Tested and confirmed.

Splashyminion

Nothing extraordinary but not too bad either. I don't like blue fragrances in general so yes I prefer this. It smells like hermes by Tierre de hermes and a hint of the one EDP. It's vetiver heavy and bitter. Smells like freshly cut grass in from an orange garden.

Last a good time but doesn't project too much. Overall good buy

pogo

I like this a lot, more than expected. The grapefruit in the beginning blends with something, maybe the vetiver or the other spices in the top for a beautifully natural, rich citrus smell that makes me think of a garden in very early fall or late summer. October in the Middle East. I really love the grapefruit here and I haven't found a similarly satisfying smell in some of the other more summery fragrances out there that I've tried like the Dolce Gabbana Light Blue line.

The drydown is more like the standard The One with some light tobacco and an overall richness.
I hear criticism of this one that it doesn't really know what it is aiming for because it has the dark, rich drydown of the original The One with a fresher more citrusy opening. I get that, but hey, it smells good. What's not to like? I keep coming back to it.

The grapefruit does linger into the drydown, and maybe that makes this a good scent for someone who wants something citrusy and fresh that then smoothly deepens into more of a rich, masculine drydown. A fragrance suitable for warm weather without being super "light".

Saltychipdust

This isn’t ground breaking but for the price, presentation, and overall scent this is good stuff. I bought into the negativity when it first came out. The reviews were wrong. This is a definite worth while warmer weather freshie that has depth. I get better longevity than The One edp. Citrus with some tobacco n vetiver are the main players here.

Nicki6089

I bought this for my son for christmas I like it but all I get is vetiver from first spray to the dry down

Kfrags

This fragrance can't figure out what it wants to be. I am admittedly not a huge fan of the "The One" line, but I do enjoy the original and EDP. I just never liked them enough to buy a full bottle. I blind bought this one thinking it would be a lot fresher and suitable for my warm climate in AZ.
I was wrong. This fragrance has a fresher, and much more biting cardamom note than the rest of the line. The cardamom is fighting tooth and nail with the warm smooth vanilla/tobacco accords throughout the opening and mid. The notes are extremely asynchronous, and the whole fragrance gives me the vibe of a feeble attempt at freshening a warm smooth DNA (Admittedly, a tall task)
Grey cant get out of its own way. It is caught between trying to be a fresh scent, and a warm date night scent, and it is not particularly successful at either.
I also have to say, the longevity and projection are both poor. I am lucky to get 5 hours out of this, even on fabric. I am okay with the lack of projection, since I was not expecting a loud fragrance with the "The One" line, but be aware, this doesn't have a lot of life either

Frag_addict25

Got this from Macy's backstage for 40 and almost didn't because of the rating here. I'm gonna ignore this page from now on. I feel ppl vote without even owning or smelling a fragrance. I'm new but I heard at one time this was a great site. Think the youngsters are killing it like every other thing.

aliilo2

this fragrance is soooo underrated idk why,it's very modern and has that special scent

Giuseppevi88

Don't know why, but this to me smells like Sean Connery in Diamonds are forever.
I find some similarities with "Cartier Pasha Parfum" 2020 version but with some added mint.

Angeldenots

This is a great fragrance, in my opinion. I got it on a 50% discount. It was a blind buy and i very happy, good choice. It's elegant, it has that spiced fresh aromatic vibe to it, but not too spicy. It's the kind of scent that could be worn anytime, day or night. regardless of the season and it is inoffensive. Have gotten many positive compliments. It has a very distinctive citrusy opening with the one dna clearly there. The cardamom and the tobacco is mild but definitely integrated with all the ingredients superbly. The drydown is this fantastic spicy, woody combo. I like it very much. So do the ladies.

I do feel if sandalwood was added to the ingredients, it would've been perfect for me, but overall a beautiful warm calming scent and an underrated fragrance for sure.

This would be a great Choice if want to gift someone a fragrance. Trust me.

Very underrated scent! its pretty sweet, has alot of nice spicey, earthy under tones.Having noticed a pleasant clay smell in 212 by Carolina Herrera , i also notice it in this scent. Im pretty certain its the Labdanum because they both have it. Its really nice, like a earthy smell, kind of like a type of material, idk its really good though. Its a nice flanker to have, If you like the original you would easily like this! I honestly cant see how anyone would not like this! This quickly became one of my favorite scents! Its pretty versatile, you could use this day or night, summer or winter, if your a young guy or older man! Its a very well balanced scent! ...also, it lasts a pretty long time ;) you can get 6 hours easy, 7 if you use a little, little extra . and 8+ hours, spray it on your clothes, dont rub it in on your wrists and forearms, let it dry and conserve, think of it as a layer of body paint, its stronger and moderate in one place, but when you rub it and spread it out,, dont expect it to last.

HERE'S THE KICKER WHEN IT COMES TO THIS FRAGRANCE...

This thing dries down into DARK REBEL RIDER (minus the aldehydes), fight me. It's wild! I'm very surprised that no one else has brought this up, yet. Please go smell for yourselves!

Aside form that, great safe fragrance, nice bright opening with the grapefruit that dries down into the others.

Will be a great substitute for those who like Rebel Rider in the future when it becomes impossible to find.

I feel like The One Grey is the perfect example of a poor name choice, subpar branding, and non-existent marketing giving a GREAT fragrance a terrible reputation. I repeat, this fragrance is honestly great. It's got the the DNA of The One but with an added freshness from a strong grapefruit along with green notes. A more appropriate name as others have mentioned would have been The One "Green." (Or something along those lines). This fragrance smells and reminds me of a classy high-end outdoor ocean side patio lounge or bar that I stopped by once in Downtown Huntington Beach, California. Lively, energetic, and FRESH - it's extremely safe and pleasing smelling to me. A hidden gem for sure! D&G's best kept secret in my opinion. It smells fresh, warm, comforting, classy, green, and expensive. 8.5/10 in my book.

piyux

D&G The One Grey Men EDT opens with a moderate projection of slightly sweet, citrus, and spicy notes. The opening is fresh, aromatic, sour, sharp, and pleasant. The grapefruit is the only citrus note but it comes across as mostly bergamot; the cardamom, coriander, basil, and clary sage bring their notes to create a noticeable spicy accord which puts the cardamom and clary sage as featured notes and the coriander and basil as support or secondary notes. The cardamom feels mildly sweet, resinous, spicy, and slightly bitter; the clary sage on the other hand is herbaceous, slightly musky. The vetiver develops adding a pleasantly fresh and green note, the tobacco is projecting note, noticeable but not prominent. The labdanum creates a soft musky and projecting note. The floral notes, lavender, and geranium are also supporting notes. Once D&G The One Grey Men EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, spicy (cardamom, clary sage), green (vetiver), and citrus (grapefruit) fragrance with some tobacco and musky accords. The fragrance feels slightly bitter, casual, complex, fresh, green, herbaceous, masculine, mild, modern, slightly musky, resinous, slightly sweet, woody, and pleasant.

BATCH REVIEWED: 2020.
WOW RATING: 6/10. A good, mostly spicy, green, and citrus fragrance.
DISLIKE RATING: 2/10. The fragrance contains light musky, spicy, and tobacco notes.
UNIQUENESS: 7/10. The fragrance has a unique touch.
MASS APPEAL: 6/10. Most people will like the fragrance but probably won’t be impressed.
PROJECTION: 3/10. Moderate to low, about 3 feet around the wearer.
SILLAGE: 4/10. Moderate, about 4 feet behind the wearer.
APPLICATION: 6 atomizations.
LONGEVITY: 4/10. Moderate, about 4 hours, it performs well for about 1 hour.
SEASONS: Spring, summer, fall. Possibly too weak for winter.
OCCASIONS: Formal events, outdoor gatherings, office, business, casual. This is an office-friendly fragrance.
VERSATILITY: 7/10. A good soft fragrance for almost any occasion except sports.
GENDER: Masculine, because of the tobacco note.
AGES: Any.
RECOMMENDATION: D&G The One Grey Men EDT can be purchased for about $50, it is a good but spicy, green and citrus fragrance, ideal for those that prefer a more personal space fragrance. For the rest, The One Parfum EDP will be a much better option.
BLIND-BUY: Yes, but only if you are familiar with its main notes.
SIMILAR: These are fragrances in the same genre. Acqua di Parma Men Colonia Quercia is a great sweet, cardamom, cedar, and spicy fragrance; Azzaro Wanted Men EDT is a sweet, ginger, cardamom, and spicy fragrance; Bargz Perfume La Nuit De L'Homme is a very good clone of YSL La Nuit De L’Homme EDT; Calvin Klein Obsessed is a great and affordable, very sweet, resinous, and leathery fragrance; Costume National Homme EDP is a good sweet, cardamom, spicy, and pleasant fragrance; Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP is a very good, spicy, cardamom, fruity, and tobacco; Dua Fragrances Midnight Rendezvous with The Mobster is a bad clone of The One EDP; Emporio Armani Stronger with You Men EDT features cardamom, spices, and woods; Lancome Hypnose Homme EDT is a mildly resinous, cardamom and lavender fragrance; Parfums Vintage Suave is a clone of YSL La Nuit De L’Homme EDT, but at twice the cost of the original; Thierry Mugler Angel A*Men Pure Havana contains honey, tobacco, and warm spices; Yves Saint Lauren La Nuit De L’Homme EDT is fantastic cardamom, lavender, woody, and spicy fragrance; D&G The One Grey Men EDT is a light, musky, cardamom, clary sage, vetiver, citrus grapefruit, and tobacco fragrance.
SUMMARY: A moderate projection, spicy (cardamom, clary sage), green (vetiver), and citrus (grapefruit) fragrance with some tobacco and musky accords. The fragrance feels slightly bitter, casual, complex, fresh, green, herbaceous, masculine, mild, modern, slightly musky, resinous, slightly sweet, woody, and pleasant.

dajc26

I don't understand the low rating.
Summarizing the scent, it is The One made fresh with added green note for day time usage. I personally prefer Grey because on my skin The One is sweet on steroids, while Grey adds more flavor to a nice DNA. Thumbs up for me.

This is my second review.
I find myself changing my mind on this one back and forth.
Today, 18.7.20, a very vary hot Saturday, everything is slow, people are resting.
Yesterday i wore egoist chanel and thought to myself it is very good one.
And today i just took a short sniff from this one.
And man for some unknown reason it was hard to chose.
Finaly the sweet small paradise of the this grey won me over.
Grey is sometimes word you give to something boring, not interesting,
But this grey the one Grey is good one. Its surprises me how much it is a good one!
If it was called in a different name from a different house maybe it would have get what it deserves.
Sweet fresh youth start.
Continue to cosy sweet warm love, and end with "someone you love" personality.
I should buy another 2 pcs before they will quit making it...
Edit:
And then again, in the dry down, this unplesent and unclear smell seems to down grade this perfume after wearing hermes and egoiste.
So d&g the one grey comming back to be second line in my perfumes cabinet.

Don't be deceived (as I was) by the wonderfully fruity top notes. These give way to the awful peppery/sage/cardamom fumes found in The One Gentleman. A scrubber for sure!

It's funny how reviews absolutely don't make sense and you should never make a decision based on them.

I've been a complete scent freak for the past months, been trying so many samples, spent so much money on mostly niche because most designers didn't make me happy, and then here I am looking for a hot weather scent at the mall, expecting low quality by trying this random D&G grey and Boom, it hits me, IM IN LOVE. Couldn't stop sniffing my wrists, I went back 1h later to apply more and even some on my covid mask to smell it at all time.

Yes it's linear, yes it's safe, yes i have smelled something similar in the past but I don't care, it's such a beautiful scent. I read some people saying it's for a younger crowd and I am so confused because to me it definitely smells a bit on the mature side, 30yo+.

Also I'm reading people saying it smells like soap and I am even more confused, it's vetivier/clary sage heavy, I get absolutely NO SOAP feel to it.

The more i smell it, the more it reminds me a bit of terre d'hermes (I didnt smell Terre d'hermes for years so I might regret this comparison later). Woody, citrus, vetivier, mature...

Versatile safe scent, After idk how many samples, it's the ONLY one summer scent that I decided to buy a full bottle and I find it so surprising that it's from D&G and that the reviews here are not very good. I have to test it in different weather to see how it acts, for now I tested it indoor at the mall and outdoor at very hot day and I think it will be good in any weather.

9/10

edit: had to wait a couple of days for my bottle to arrive and after spraying it again today, I am as shocked as the first time I tried it. Such a perfect scent, non-offensive, green, calming. I'm totally in love.

edit 2: After testing it a lot, I would rephrase it to spring fall winter scent. It just doesn't mix well with sweat. Also it's definitely not similar to terre d'hermes.

jaexrobb

This scent fits my personality.

It’s a great everyday fragrance because to me it smells fresh, clean, bright and the right amount of sexy. I’m gonna say that it reminds me of an expensive soap for men.

Its safe/inoffensive office friendly and in my experience it leaves a nice scent trail that will catch people’s attention.

I will also say that it leans more on the mature side but not sophisticated, you can dress up or dress down with this hidden gem of a scent.

Dolce and Gabbana The One Grey is for the man who wants to be seen as someone pleasant to be around because just like the scent it’ll be an inoffensive and clean personality. Almost every girl will love it!

Safe DNA=Signature scent worthy!!

Chicago Tony T

I know I know..
It's been out forever but I just got a 10ml decant.
A better name would have been The One Summer or The One Bright.
Grapefruit shines throughout the duration with a light vetiver note.
Nothing else really shines but it makes for an all around good dumb reach as prices for the 100 ml have reached the $35 range.
TBH I will most likely trade this decant as I would never reach for it as it is solid but not something that I would reach for.

LisaMari

Light and fresh masculine scent but a bit boring anf generic

DGpourHommeMN

I have original and edp version of the one but imo the one grey smell different and it is worth owning a bottle. Smell very fresh and nice. If you are looking for the best warm weather frag then this isn't the one but if you collect frags and worry that this might be a redundant purchase, I recommend you to get this one.

Stephen King

This is a very nice frag. what I get from the opening is sharp grapefruit/citrus close to the same in JVAP and CH Men Sport, nice clean citrus notes. But what keeps me interested is the cardamom, so beautiful. After a few minutes the spices, lavender, and florals come in to give it a grounded feel. The vetiver is nice and not too strong. On my skin, it seems to fade fast, or olfactory fatigue sets in fast for me. Although this was a blind buy, it is not one of regret. I will test it and update it if it is my olfactory fatigue or the juice.

Update: This is projects and smells different off my clothing vs my skin, not a problem though still a solid by IMHO.

Update 2: April 2020 that the weather has gotten warmer this has become one of my go-to frags and the discounted price makes it a quality value.

FragH1978

I use to be on this site very active between 2009-13 but due to other priorities in life I was not able to keep up here and during a long gap I lost my account and PW but kept visiting here often as I am a big scentholic and collector I just keep coming here to check reviews before buying and in general to get updates but today I decided to leave a comment and make a channel once more customizable I was sick and tired of fake reviews from misleading people here and I honestly do not understand why the hell they do this!!? Really, wtf, and I am seeing this stuff from ages, wrong rating, crappy break down ,fake stories , why.? I mean people come here to get honest opinions so they can decide to buy or not and share their experiences not to troll around just cus they bored! So guys do not believe comments here do your own Homework as in testing or sampling etc.
Anyways my honest take on this fragrance, i really like and enjoy this one, it is very safe and work friendly with very decent performance, it is a lighter take on that heavy sweet feminish vibe which the original The One Edp have and it mellow downs the sweetness but strong The One DNA goes till the end and leaves a nice scent trail ,where I live in EU women do not admire sweet perfumes on men but this one really got me great attention while EDP never got me a single compliment from ladies a few men yes may be...this one is very well balanced with citrus notes blended from top to bottom , I honestly have given up on sweet frags for about few years now but this one I am really enjoying and imho this one actually stays a bit more then the edp on my skin but that's my case only. So I guess it is worth a try . 4/5

The freshness of this fragrance is leaded by the Coriander, Basil and Clary Sage. I got the impression grapefruit was included not to stand out but to tone a little down that mix. So don't expect fruity playful vibes.

On the contrary, Grey seems to me like an office scent. People would notice that you are serious about it. So I suggest one should wear it in a good mood and responsibly charm around to level down the serious atmosphere it can create.

The colour of the cap is also a good representation of the scent. It could be the smell of a league of freshly made steel and thus still very hot.

Dislikes can be ignored, the scent is actually a really good option for the office. It is also really different from The One EDT and EDP that I think I could not say they relate except for the name.

lacaklacak7

Don't understand why the hate.. this is actually a good flanker. It is fresh, green & spicy with a touch of the original The One nuance at the background.. at least it is different from the original.. that's how flanker supposed to be..

I love the sweetness from grapefruit notes in the opening, then the green notes from clary sage & vetiver jumps in.. so fresh & aromatic..

ngc709

Don't believe the bad reviews. This is actually very good. You get the original The One DNA with extra grapefruit and added vetiver, perfectly balancing the scent between fresh and warm.

If you are looking for a fall/spring or even winter fragrance that isn't too sweet or heavy for office use but not as light as your typical fresh summer scents, this is it.

irawan.johan

Clary sage BOMB!

Przem

The problem of this fragrance is that takes no concrete direction. You don't know what season of the year this is appropriate for. It is also missing this something that makes you want to come back to this fragrance. What I mainly get is the strange sourness that I would associate with dried fruit boiled in water (typical Xmass drink in Poland). Would I want to wear something like this? Not necessarily.
A type of scent I would like to like but I cannot. Just OK to use from time to time to refresh memory how it smells.
Overall 5.5/10.

Nula

D&G Grey isn't as good as some of the men's fragrances available at Big Lots for $4.99.
I found it to be a nondescript, but not unpleasent, fragrance. I'll use it as a car freshener.

gorjan78

Not for everybody....bot not bad...sharp..piercing

JodieAx

My husband really likes this, he says wearing it makes him feel happy.
Personally I find it good enough but generic , typical after shave kind of smell. I feel like Ive smelled this scent many times.
My husband wants to buy it after receiving a sample but I have said lets just go to the perfume store and see if he likes something better because I personally find it boring and not worth the price tag .

SajidBeg

Clean and fresh smell. After two/three hours it smells like tube roses. Not sure if it’s mixture of lavender and cardamom that smells like tube roses whatever to my nose its smell settles down to this way.

swax1990

This pretty much is a lighter version of Tom Ford's Fuc*ing Fabulous, those ingredients... mixed together gives off a vanillic quality to it, this is just for vanilla lovers. I really don't get any tobacco, nor The One DNA... nothing interesting here. Good thing I didn't blind buy this one!

LeeMinorthreat

I see a lot of hate on this fragrance but I find it really enjoyable. Vetiver, cardamom, I don’t smell this as a The One flanker, but more so a spicy alternative to something along the lines of Grey Vetiver (damn, another Grey to compare it to. Who would have thought?).

I know a lot of people have compared it to Dunhill, etc. but I haven’t smelled those so I wouldn’t know.

Good price point. Solid performance for a spicy citrus vetiver for the spring/summer time. Lasts longer on my skin than Grey Vetiver Parfum. I recommend this to anyone who likes the smell of Grey Vetiver but wants to switch up a bit.

AMajeedQT

The One Grey smells as if a well-known clone house wanted to make "their impression" of the original D&G The One.

It's 90% the original smell of cardamom-spicy, gingery amber, plus 10% of vetiver/grapefruit note & this is only at the opening.

As it dries down, it smells even more like the original with a very mild hint of grapefruit.

Now because it smells like the original, of course it smell gorgeous & I love it but why does it exist if it smells almost identical to the original?!

This is an issue with all The One flankers par the EDP, which is much needed because of The One's sillage issues. As for The One Grey, The One Collector, The One Platinum Limited Edition, The One Mysterious Night, The One Royal Night, & The One Baroque, these don't really add much. I know some will disagree with the Nights editions but they are still terribly similar to the original.

Most of The One flankers are just like YSL's L'Homme & Nuit de L'Homme flankers: very minimal alteration that doesn't really justify their existence.

Overall, a lovely smell that I actually might buy but only if I own no other edition of The One.

It’s okay it’s a dumb reach

Revolt1983

I don't know why this has the Fragrance community Frowning. This isn't as Bad as Some Reviews. The way jt works is if your favorite fragance Reviewer on YouTube Hates it or is Displeased with it, then EVERYONE jumps on the Hate Wagon. Personally to me it's The One Eau De Toilette or Eau de Parfum But with a Fresh Side to it. Is not the Best In the World but is NOT the Worst Either.

adnano45

its a little bit closer to visit from Azzaro, The one DNA scent, Nothing special but i recommend buying, Its all seasons fragrance, And you can say its the fresh copy of the Original.

eholley485

This is not a bad scent although it recieves a lot of hate from the frag comm. This is a very safe scent that shouldn't offend anyone. Smells like something you've smelled a thousand times over but not at all in a bad way. You might not like this scent but for some odd reason the ladies adore it. If the ladies love it its worth a purchase for me because thats what its all about. Sure there are better quality and better smelling scents out there but they might not get you that compliment you are looking for like this will.

virtualalice

I feel it is kinda generic. The citrus+vetiver combination has been done so many times it's hard to tell one of such scents from another, and every other note just died in the drydown for me. On my skin this just doesn't work.

MrHonest

Well, it only took a couple of weeks, but it FINALLY hit me.

Every time I wore it, I couldn't help thinking that this was the original THE ONE (that unmistakable heart) combined with something that I've smelled before. I'm sure you know the feeling. That constant nagging, like "I KNOW I know this smell."

Well, I was sitting at my computer and my mind started to wander...Intense....something intense...no...SPORT. That's it. SPORT. Sport? - - OMG - - L'eau D'Issey Sport.

YeS!! The One Grey is the original The One combined with the sharp, spicy green vetiver of L'eau D'Issey Sport. What an unusual combo! No wonder it took me so long!!

jaexrobb

great scent for the office fresh and inoffensive

Knife2

Don't bother if you already own the original One edt or edp. Grey starts with a heavier dose of grapefruit, when it settles after a while it's hard to tell the difference, practically the same as the original. The One Grey is nice enough but also one of those many unnecessary flankers.

mewakwon

this is good
for who love the one EDT or EDP
and want to wear in the spring and summer

but the performance is not quite good like the EDT

for me i have a lot frags for summer
so i will not buy the full bottle

a good frag not a bad one
i dont know why many people hate this

TrephineArtist

This was just a quick test but I was surprised at how nice it smells considering it's received a lot of negative press. I had been initially put off by the dull name and presentation but yes it's a nice smell...albeit briefly.

'Nice' is the key word, or 'polite.' I like how they added citus to the regular 'The One' however on my skin the fresh grapefruit & spice of the opening opening dissipates and before long I'm left with a vague cardamom scent with traces of geranium and/or lavender.

So I suppose performance wise it perhaps quite rightly deserves few plaudits but then I've forgotten the last time Dolce & Gabbana released anything with even acceptable performance for their (retail) price point.

Edit; don't get me wrong though, I really do like this scent, perhaps it would perform better on clothing, I will test it a few more times before writing this 'One' off (just like all the previous 'Ones')

Tazahr

It is the original "the one" with good amount of citrus. Beautiful and simple fragrance with moderate performance. Still has the same performance issues of the one lineup.

The one grey is safe and versatile modern fragrance. It is gentlemanly elegant and will get you complements.

You will enjoy it if you don't expect a lot.

fritterstorm

I can't be the only one that thinks this smells like Mr. Burberry EDP. Both have this lavender-cardamon accord that is reminiscent of the ambient air around the men's fragrance section. This seems to last longer than the original EDT, it's good not great and not full bottle worthy.

Hdubais

It is energetic. It reminds me of dior higher energy.

j_choi1224

This one smells like suavecito pomade. It's got like a Pepsi smell to it I think. If I could compare it to another fragrance I'd say something like L'occitan ray de toilette. It doesnt last very long but it smells great.

pierreelkhoury

With all due respect some people find similarities between terre d’hermes/aventus and any miles appart fragrance i suggest they wash their nose because it might be carrying TDH and aventus residues

DarlingNikki

I didn't like this one at all and was shocked at how cheap it smelled. I'm not sure what the cheapness was coming from, but it made my nose scrunch up immediately on spraying and didn't get better in the dry down.

lespritz.1

Sprayed this on a card today in the mall...I didn't mind it, but it smelled familiar but what? A milder Azzaro Visit. Not worth the $...pass.

fotis

Α warm scent. It is quite distinctive and sophisticated.

dolcethadon

I finally got my nose on this new flanker of Dolce & Gabbana The One at the fragrance counter! I sprayed some on a paper strip & then sprayed some on my skin to give it a wearing yet this is still just a first impression.. The One Grey opens up very fresh & almost transparent.. I detected a very light bright citrus & fresh cardamom note.. Then I immediately started to smell a prominent yet very light & clean vetiver note.. Even though the notes & overall vibe of this fragrance is very different from the original you can still smell "The One" DNA throughout! As the fragrance begins to dry down the "grey wood" accord which is missing in Fragrantica's note breakdown takes over.. The scent then becomes very woody! This woody accord resembles cedar to my nose perhaps with a bit of a sandalwood touch.. Overall I have to say I think this might just be the most unique flanker Dolce & Gabbana has released since Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme Intenso & I wouldn't mind owning it! I definitely like it quite a bit! I am however not sure why they named it Dolce & Gabbana The One Grey or what the meaning of that title is, but Grey it is!

@Fragrantica - "Grey wood" is missing from the note breakdown above & in my opinion it happens to be the most prominent note in the fragrance!

JakamoFiNaYe

I didn’t expect it to smell quite as generic as it did, it’s the typical cologne smell. Opens with an astringent citrus and quickly dries down to a soapy scent, very much like ivory soap on my skin. Became a skin scent in about 30 minutes and lasted only a couple hours after that.

hullhockey91

Interesting take on the original.

I would've never thought of turning the original into a fresh fragrance - But I wouldn't say it's classified as "fresh."

I would say this has more "fresh" aspects, but in the end, it isn't incredibly "fresh."

The orignal's DNA is absolutely in here. In fact, it smells just like the original with only a few added notes.

This has a colder grapefruit note which is noticeable, and it blends really well with the original DNA. This frag is cold and warm at the same time.

I can almost see the previous reviewer's statement about this smelling like La Nuit De L'homme mixed with the original....I guess it is fresh AND warm.

It's good. I enjoy it. It wouldn't get much usage, but I might consider a bottle. Nothing mind blowing.

dliebman100

On my skin I get a mix of YSL La Nuit mixed the original The One and I point towards that coriander note. It easily smells like most of the "sport" versions offered from other companies. It's a safe blind buy for sure (smells fresh/ citrusy grapefruit) but nowhere near the enchanting quality of The One EDP.

mohammedbrik7

Very generic! The original is way better.

DopeDailey

Decent. I got a coconut vibe from it. Definitely worth a sniff at least. I'll get it once Game of thrones is back for its final season or I can pick it up for cheap. Whichever comes first.

spray_and_pray

Armani Code A-List, Mr. Burberry Indigo, Coach Platinum, & YSL Y Eau De Parfum were amongst the newest offerings at my local Ulta but Grey was the stand-out fragrance much to my surprise! Grey was the fragrance I was least excited about when I saw it sitting on the shelf. I almost didn't test it which would've been quite unfortunate. I sprayed Grey on a test strip and I knew instantly I was taking it home!

Grey's 'The One' DNA is instantly recognizable but Grey differentiates it's self with an undeniably all-season freshness reminiscent of cedar heavy fragrances such as YSL Ultime. While there are notes in Grey that are found in recent 'generic' fragrances Grey has enough of The One's DNA in it to make for a unique fresh fragrance.

This fresh interpretation of The One is certainly more versatile in terms of what season & situation it would be best suited for but it is also more versatile in terms of age range. I find this to be less mature than the original but not juvenile in any manner. Grey is a fragrance that would work as well on a 20 year old as it would a 40 year old. Grey has the potential to be a hit release and to be a compliment getter. Grey is safe enough for a blind-buy

The only downside to Grey is that the performance is lacking which is to be expected from The One line. However, I do find that Grey out-performs the original but not by any drastic amount. I personally get an hour of average projection and 4-5 hours of longevity. I personally like Grey enough that I can live with that level of performance and will carry a travel atomizer.

All things considered, I rate Grey as 4/5☆

lovetribe

Upgrade:low performance.

corvin

The original ONE with fresh aspects. It actually works well. Quiet good projection in first hour, but after that it goes exponentially to skin scent. Original performs better, but this one has more modern element in it. I like it, but right now I have other frags on my list.

Scent: 8/10
Performance: 6/10
Versatility: 8/10

Jareth

Lacks the incredible opening of the original, and is instead just 'ok'. The heart phase of this is nice though - smooth spices, etc. (I've grown too used to the original though, and now even smell that as flat aromachemicals after the opening. I need to stop wearing it and come back and reappraise both.)

Maybe the heart of this is better - more constant anyway - perhaps the lavender helps bulk it out but also makes it more run-of-the-mill (like Sauvage - haha!). Lavender then takes over in the drydown and makes it a bit boring and soapy. OK but not great. I'll try this again to be sure though.

clintjr82

Nothing special or worth buying. How many damn flankers are they going to release cash in off the original, which was great.

How about you, Dolce & Gabanna release a new fragrance at least for the mass appeal..

john2589

To all the people saying that this is a lighter version of the original.. How is it possible to make something lighter than a fragrance that you can hardly smell even right after you apply it.. Dolce gabbana should wake up and start making some decent fragrances

Santos89

The One Grey is quite a decent effort, at making a lighter The One It adds a light sweet citrus note, and some aquatics on top of The One amber-y base.

It works reasonably well. The scent is lighter, and is subtle yet persistent.

I won't go too deeply into the scent, because it really is quite simply a fresh citrus accord on top of The One.

A reasonable effort that will perhaps appeal to the die hard The One fans out there, looking to add a summer flanker.

For the rest of us, I recommend sticking with the original eau de toilette. It was perfect to start with.

Longevity is reasonable yet subtle - 6-7 hours.

Rating: 5/10

shopkw

The opening is beautiful. A r fresh, fruity, rich, and sweet experience. Then the dry down turns into The One. It was not what I was looking for.

knoxknoll777

Nothing new, nothing extraordinary, already been done.

This is just an attempt to hurry up and get something out the door to the consumers. The further along I get into my fragrance journey, the more I appreciate niche fragrances. This was at most meh.

Fresh version of the original. As Seattle Dweller stated, you smell the original underneath. It’s a pleasant scent and surely a crowd pleaser. The tobacco isn’t very pronounced, which is a disappointment, but overall this is decent. Safe for the office and just about any environment.

The biggest question that I have is that if the original is “The One”, then why are there so many? At this point, it’s like “The Five or Six, Maybe Seven”.

Still a good fragrance and value for the money.

cvaile

There were two new releases I was looking forward to sampling this week, Bvlgari Man Wood Essence, and D&G The One Grey.

I had assumed that I would enjoy Wood Essence but I was more skeptical about this one, but having sampled both yesterday and today I have done a 180. Wood Essence is out of the picture, but I am very intrigued by Grey.

Many thought original The One was intriguing but was too sweet. I think those people should definitely sample Grey.

As anticipated, the sweetness has been dialed back, and with the cardamom amped up and the sage and vetiver added it is much more aromatic and woody than the sweet-spicy original.

This seems to be more of an offset to the original. Some like me who like the original will also like this, but I have a feeling this will be more of an either/or choice for more people.

hullhockey91

I could definitely smell the DNA of the original in there....deep in there. There is much more dry woody aspects to this one.

Its good, but not great. Not bottle worthy in my opinion.

avaloncm

Nice mix of citrus and Woody. Ok scent. Was gone after about 2 hours.

Seattle Dweller

Interesting - early testing:

There is A LOT going on in the composition of this fragrance.

DNA of the original - tobacco - but the added cardamon and vetiver does give it a Dunhill Icon / Icon Elite vibe.

Long lasting so far - always around 7 hours with a nice scent bubble for the first 2 or 3.

lovetribe

I Bought this immediately. It is love at first sniff. i love it.

lovetribe

A parfum very very incredibile . A good good surprise.similar in a good way to terre d' Hermes but more fresh.excellent performance.8/10

djhecutsa

Had the chance to smell this at Macys. Not a bad scent but definitely familiar. After testing on my skin for a few hours it finally came to me that this scent reminds me a lot of Dunhill Icon Elite. Same dry down and vibe in my opinion. This one being a bit more fresher and less of a leather note but the clary sage has a very close resemblance to Icon Elite.

pohlevj

I just tried this one at Macy’s today. It dries down to a spicy scent that is reminiscent of walking into a Hobby Lobby or a BBB store when they have the Fall decorations out. To me it smelled very different on skin than on the test strip so make sure you test it appropriately. A hint of citrus may be in the background and tobacco is def evident here. There are layers to this scent which is nice to see from a designer these days. All in all a decent release for the upcoming autumn season. I am still deciding if this is full bottle worthy.

myscentjourney

I was lucky enough that my good friend Joe showed me a photo of this new Flanker over on the Dubai Duty-Free. At that moment I try to check it over on Fragrantica and even on the web but I couldn't found anything so, I was torn between buying it or not, I didn't know if it was a new flanker or maybe just a Special Edition from 50 Shades of Grey or something. Anyway, I've decided to go for the Blind buy, and I'm very glad I did... I have worn it for the past three days so I could give an honest first impression. At the time there wasn't any information about the notes, so most of this it's "flying solo" but I can say that this Flanker is fresher, lighter and to my nose greener. I think this could be the replacement for the old The One Sport.
**EDIT- I check again Fragrantica, and they already posted the notes; It has green cardamom (beats me what's the difference between that and the regular! ha ha ha)It reminded me to The One Gentleman with a green trait (maybe Clary Sage?). I think that for a summer scent it has a perfect performance; moderate sillage and last´s for 6 on the skin.

THEREALJWIL

Love all the notes listed here but for.some.reason I doubt this fragrance and it will fall short of expectation and have 2 hours of longevity as I have come to expect from this line anymore

bel.gravia

50 shades of grey? :D lol

MsMixtape

I'm interested in smelling this, and Kit Harington is a beautiful man, but why do they have him doing his usual puppy eyes pout? I'm sure the man can conjure up other expressions.

Potent2020

Sounds challenging.
