DKNY My NY by Donna Karan is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. DKNY My NY was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Trudi Loren. Top notes are Raspberry, Pink Pepper and Galbanum; middle notes are Egyptian Jasmine, Freesia and Orris Root; base notes are Patchouli, Vanilla Absolute, Musk and Ambergris.

The collection of perfumes by Donna Karan DKNY, after numerous editions of DNKY Be Delicious and limited fragrances of the collection DNKY Summer inspired by hot summer days in New York, is launching a new heart-shaped edition which has the aim to express the contemporary urban spirit of her beloved city. The advertising campaign of fragrance DKNY MY NY features the popular singer, songwriter and actress Rita Ora, who is holding the flacon made of glass and metal of which the upper part creates a heart shape and suggests New York skyscrapers.

Donna Karan points out that Rita Ora stated that the new fragrance was "pure energy in a bottle." Images of dynamic New York, its streets and skyscrapers stand behind her in the advertising photo. The TV and print campaign were done at Times Square and are signed by photographer Francesco Carrozzini.

The new fragrance DKNY MY NY was developed by Trudi Loren in collaboration with IFF. Top notes of the composition provide a blend of raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum, followed by Egyptian jasmine, freesia and orris in the heart. The base encompasses patchouli Heart LMR, vanilla absolute, musk and ambergris.

The fragrance arrives as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum along with perfumed shower gel, body lotion and rollerball. The advertising campaign and a micro website dedicated to the new perfume will be launched on August 19, 2014.

Suzanne loves Perfume

Well this is strange.....
I have had a 100ml 97% full bottle knocking about in my perfume collection for the past 100 years! I can't even remember how l got this or when or who from. Its a mystery to me honestly.
I tried it oh so many years back and hated it because l could smell the patchouli and l hated that smell so much it always reminded me of hippies that didn't wash, white people with dred locks and tie dyed clothing and festivals with tons of them rolling cigarettes from a tin of tobacco with dirty fingernails. Ewwww! (Oh the images a smell can conjure up). So I've never worn it and it's one of those perfumes that's a nightmare to have on your dressing table with your other perfumes especially if you're a neat freak who likes your perfume bottles clean and sparkling like a department store showcase. The amount of pointless grooves and notches and corners in the lid of this bottle will drive you insane, they gather dirt and dust and you can't get deep into the corners unless you use a toothbrush to scrub them and even after you think you got it all you always miss some, its maddening, what a crap design for a lid. Its pure effort and maintenance for a perfume!
Sooo.... fast forward 100years to the present time and I'm walking past my dressing table and l glance at it and it's so old the colour of the liquid has changed and gone a darkish peach colour and l thought let me have a little spray see if I like it now since I'm more than a decade older and don't mind a bit of patchouli in a perfume so much now, so long as its mixed well with other scents so it's not the strongest scent in the mix, and bugger me, it's bloody lovely!!!
Wtf is going on here? This perfume is clearly taking the piss out of my life right now and playing tricks on me! It smells like Miss Dior the one with the Metal silver bow. I guess you have to wait for some fragrances to be right for you. I'm going to start wearing it now. I give it a 7.5 /10.

This was one of my beginning fragrances whenever I worked at a Smoothie King near Marshall's. When I first got this, my nose only identified the top notes and I fell in love with the sweet burst of rasberry, pink pepper, and the patchouli peeking out when sprayed.

However, I soon started to smell this bitterness a few minutes after I sprayed the perfume. It took me weeks to finally figure out exactly what that bitter, biting smell was.
Galbanum.
Now that my nose is developing, I have learned that either Galbanum comes off very stinky and bitter to my nose, or my skin chemistry does NOT like it. This perfume would be lovely without it, but the Galbanum is overpowering the lovely jasmine, freesia, and orris root middle notes.

On first spray this perfume smells quite nice and it seems very safe. The raspberry and pink pepper work well together. But once those top notes wear off, all I get is stinky, rotting, bitter flowers. It's a no for me.

If you like Galbanum and it works well with your skin chemistry, this might be for you! Don't be afraid to try things! Unfortunately, for me personally, this perfume doesn't want to be friends

I bought my first bottle in 2015 and it was gone super fast (50 ml)
And I bought my 100 ml in 2018
Still have about 30 ml left, this is a really good fragance, boring some may say, but lately I've been thinking this might be the key to stop this addiction - sticking to what I like, instead of trying to 'expand' my horizons.. It's not a philosophy I'd normally agree with, but I'm starting to realize that maybe for fragances, makeup and clothes, it makes sense

maddieonline

The pink pepper is STRONG in this! Personally, I don't usually like very peppery fragrances but this is super pretty and layers well with a wide variety of other perfumes. On my skin, the dry-down is super raspberry-y. I like it, I received it as a gift and I don't think I'd repurchase but I will definitely finish the bottle and layer with other perfumes in my collection.

jeweledsea

Not getting the pencil shavings that everyone else seems to be getting. This one stays pretty linear on me, and is a fruity floral with enough musk to make it interesting. IMO it’s a pretty standard designer frag. An easy reach when I want something a little more girly and feminine but not something I plan to repurchase once my small bottle runs out.

amberblackred

One of the strongest perfumes in my collection. It's a gifted scent and not something I'd buy but it has grown on me. Again, I used to wear it few years back and it brings back memories. So, I rarely use it when I'm in mood for something strong. It's so strong that if I'm not in the mood for it, it would give me a headache. So have a love hate relationship with this one.

Emma x

I do agree with a lot of people's reviews about it smelling like pencil shavings! Unfortunately it really does, but there's still something nice about it, almost like a note trying to poke through the syntheticness. The dry down to this is a lot better! If you wear it for a few hours it becomes a nice pleasant fragrance. Probably better to spray it on your clothes so you don't get the initial pencil shavings scent!

VMonster

TJ Maxx blind buy several months back. Leaving my collection because I just never wore it. The pencil-shavings opening is not a joke. It is very woody, a bit medicinal and sharp - off-putting. The drydown is a lovely raspberry-vanilla-patchouli with a kiss of salt from the ambergris. Not a bad fragrance...but I can sort of see why it made it to rack stores and was discontinued. I have better fruitchoulis in my collection.

perfumelovere

I've been wearing this now for a couple weeks and I completely agree with the reviewer that likened it to sharpening pencils in elementary school. I also get that pencil shavings undertone for the first hour but then it morphs into something so comforting and beautiful. I normally do not like woody because they tend to turn to baby powder on my skin but this particular scent just has a whisper of masculine woodiness with the right amount of sweetness from the vanilla and jasmine to make it so pretty. I've grown quite fond of patchouli too if it's added judiciously which it is in this formula.

perfumelovere

This reminds me of a cross between CK Obsession and Coco EDT. I knew it smelled like the nineties. Who wouldn't love some nineties these days :-) Golden era of living.

WGG

Nice bottle shame about the scent. As for Rita Ora, well, she can sing just fine..........
This just isnt very good, the balance with the florals is out, its almost sickly sweet. My wife got a bottle for free alongside a make up purchase, make of that what you will. Ended up giving it away.
I find the sheer array of ladies perfumes utterly bewildering and confusing. For what its worth I follow Jus de Rose's reviews and buy samples or sample sets first. Its also amazing what you can get for free just by engaging and asking nicely. This is a good way to access some really outstanding perfumes, develop a feel for favourites and smell great along the way. My (lowly) rating for this underwhelming scent refects having sampled many great perfumes, some at very reasonable prices too but its broadly true you get what you pay for.

I'm new here. This is my first post. I absolutely love this perfume. It takes me back to sharpening pencils in elementary school. I remember the pencil sharpener was positioned on the marble window sill of my old, non air conditioned school so when I would sharpen my pencils I could see my house directly across the street and zone out staring the window in a daze, daydreaming about what was going on at my house and wishing I was there, and sharpen my pencil down to a stump. When I spray this, I first get a gorgeous blast of fresh pencil shavings-nothing but those freshly shaved pencils for about 7 seconds, then the cool marble windowsill creeps up and settles in.
This stuff is a shapeshifter. All day, each hour I catch another different, but equally warm, dry, and comforting. The fruit doesn't shine from my skin. It's completely woodsy on me and I love it. It's not one that my eyes roll back in ecstasy. It's a warm soft cashmere cuddle with leaves blowing round your feet on a dry sunny autumn day.
I can wear this year round but it's best in the NorthEastern US fall. When it dries down on me, it's warm calm and inoffensive. Quiet and laid back. Stoned. After I get over the opening joy of pencil sharpening, it settles into a comfort. My cat's fur gets cross contaminated with this from me cuddling her and it smells so perfect on my fluffy white with tabby patches silly little cat.
Yes. It's pencil shavings

CristiBianco

Fruity flower bomb is the first thing that came to my mind when I smelt it. There is punch of fruits, flowers with a tangy essence to it probably due to pink pepper which gives it a little kick making it unique scent. Best thing is that this is not too loud to cause headache, rather very sweet, lovely and friendly fragrance. This is something that if you wear, you will feel happy, joyful and lively. This is also ok for value so you can buy for yourself and even this is a safe gift. This is surely not going to disappoint anyone. Highly versatile one but most preferred for the summer and spring months. This playful, girly and carefree scent may be someone’s signature scent for sure. Grab it now! Highly recommended!

lmwimsatt

This smells so familiar. What does it remind me of, coach the fragrance? Maybe a little bit, but it's more akin to something else. I'll post when I figure it out!

anuradha88

Very spicy and woody in the opening which I suspect is the Pink Pepper, few minutes into it and I get a sharp Lavender which I don't see in the notes. The Vanilla sweetness softly emerges from the trail 15-20 minutes later. I smell the berries in the base notes which faintly reminded me of CK Euphoria's dry down. It was a blind buy and I wasn't disappointed but definitely not very unique.Gets a 7/10 from me.

writekatewrite

I'm in love. Best blind buy ever. It's raspberry hard candy and vanilla extract with a patchouli that's well blended enough that I don't really notice it as an individual scent. I don't get much jasmine or freesia and I'm not mad about it. It lasted 7 hours of my workday (in an air conditioned office). 10/10, will repurchase.

Markellam92

I was very bummed when I saw Rita Ora as the face of that perfume😅but on me it smells like a sweet red gummy bear so I had to have it🤷 I am on my second bottle and still enjoy it very much

fyetan

Fruity patchouli... raspberry, very juicy. Nice in colder weather. Nothing groundbreaking.

temo

I get a lot of ambergris with this, after the fruits dry down and I love it! Years ago I used to love Dior’s “Dune” for the ambergris drydown, but I couldn’t handle the loudness of the other notes in it. For me this is perfect. I’ll be so sad when my bottle is gone.

diamond74

Whoowee..this has alot of patchouli in it!! This is a syrupy raspberry, with vanilla, powder and patchouli. It's a really pretty scent. I've been wearing it on colder days. Longevity and sillage is good. My dkny NY is more like a fruity oriental imo. If you like Euphoria, Coco Mademoiselle or La Vie est belle, you will enjoy this one as well. I will finish, but not repurchase as I have Coco M. And LVEB.

muckata_11

This one reminds me a lot of Guerlain La petite robe Couture.

gtabasso

salty from ambergris, raspberry, pepper, patchouli, little floral underlying, musk
Ambergris is a MAIN note. This fragrance is salty.
like CK Reveal had a baby with a dark patchouli raspberry pepper fragrance

Migalex

I used to think that this fragrance was very good. But now that I tried it better, I find in it a quite intense coffee caramel note which to me ruins it.

poodle77

Bought a 30ml bottle yesterday (blind buy) and found it very similar to the now hard to find (and I think discontinued) DKNY Be Delicious I Heart Paris.... one of my favourites. Just bought a larger bottle online today as a back up. Classy, well done Fruitchouli..... lasts long and sillage just about perfect. Doesn't hurt that it bears a strong resemblance to another favourite, Chanel Coco Madamoiselle but at a much lower price. Very chuffed at finding this frag.

mevans

At first spray, I'd swear it's apple but it's not listed in the notes. Must be a tricky raspberry. The woody-musky notes develop a half hour later and bring it a dense quality. It's a little edgy and young. Not overly sweet. Very enjoyable fragrance which is just a step off the beaten path. Can be found for around $20 so very good at that price point. Great longevity, the scent is still clearly detectable hours later.

Luli78

It's like coco mademoiselle and euphoria had a baby. In this one the chypre notes are quickly buried and the berries over power, at least in me. Since I own euphoria this has been a bit of an irrelevant buy, except my NY works also in warmer weather and during daytime, while euphoria can become cloying and offensive.

Adrien02

To my nose not a chypre at all. More like a sweetened floral-woody-musk. Innofensive and familiar, like many that I have smelled before. Great for not offending, close encounters with others who may be put off by loud fragrance trails. This is close to the skin and people friendly. Just the right amount balance between sweetness and woody musk.
Linear, so don't expect an overwhelming burst of fruits or anything else in the notes, to grab your attention. This one is very soft and almost instantaneously a skin scent.
Cute bottle, which make me think it should have come with a top, but it does not.

Adrien02

What is 'Heart LMR"???
Oh well, . . . bought it anyway. Previous experiences with DK frags is too much sweetness (i.e. Be Delicious range) Here's to hoping this is a likeable fragrance.

raiza1990

This is not bad. It is a safe and soft fruity fragrance. Not very original, but nice. Projects well and is feminine. I recommend it to young, romantic women who like berries and powder.

ladyjm89

I like this one. It’s better and more original than the 50 different Delicious flankers anyway.
Opens with an almost medicinal raspberry, not sweet, herbal. But dries down into a lovely patchouli vanilla spice scent. Very suitable for early fall, although I don’t think it will hold up well in very cold weather. I got a 3.4 bottle for $14 so not a bad blind buy. If you like fruitchouli done right, this one is a great option! I disagree with the reviews saying it’s syrupy or teenaged. No, it’s not a very sweet or young girl smell nor is it predominantly fruity, all the notes are very well blended. The patch sticks out the most! I’m 30 and I’m happy wearing it! It doesn’t project across the room, but lasts a good 6+ hours on clothing.

Scent 7/10
Sillage 5/10
Longevity 8/10

alc0513

I just purchased this blind at tjmaxx but ohhhh my goodessss, I mean wow so amazing it does remind me of coco mademoiselle but instead of that GRAPEFRUIT I get the RASPBERRY for sure. definitely cousins .

longevity it's been 2 hours and I still smell the greatness of this magic

hard for perfumes to stay so I'm so happy

cutsie587

I LOVE it! If this perfume represents the energy of New York, I need to visit; since I have never been there. I am not generally a fan of patchouli, BUT this did not disappoint. It is a relaxing, fun, energizing scent that lasts; and it makes me happy! A very-well blended perfume. Not too much of anything.

LisaLovesPerfume

At first, this scent is citrusy and light. Then, the patchouli appears, but very light. Still, it retains the citrus quality. It's not a ftuitchouli per se, but more of an adult scent. It's not an overly sweet perfume It's not a light fragrance, however. It would be well suited for Autumn, Winter and evenings.

stinaxt

I have been wearing Belle D'Opium lately and totally loving it. But it had some type of familiar smell to me and couldn't place my finger on it and then I thought OMG this smells just like DKNY MY NY. I used to wear My NY a lot a couple of years ago. I loved it but moved on. Now I remember how good it smells it leaving a nice cloud of scent around me!

charlotteding

I think this is Lovely, I received it as a present and wear it alot it's a nice feminine sweet (but not too sweet) warm delight

malindajoquinn

Got a sample of this in a swap and was curious to give it a go.
Starts out a little sickly sweet, but the dry down is much better. You lose a bit of the syrupy fruits and get more of the dirty patchouli and powdery white musk. The musk gives it kind of a clean, fresh vibe. The fruity clean thing does veer a bit on on the laundry detergent or Herbal Essences shampoo side, which is not really my thing.
Overall, nice enough. Not really anything special. One of those where I imagine that I probably won't be able to remember exactly what this smells like after I've worn it because it's pretty generic. Can't imagine going out of my way to own this.

Callisa'sBlueSky

Interestingly enough I do not get much patchouli from DKNY MYNY. After looking at the notes and reading reviews I decided to give this a proper trail run. It opens up syrupy sweet with raspberries dominating the show. It is very sweet, almost sickening sweet. After the initial blast of raspberry syrup the pink pepper appears and lends an interesting spicey twist to the perfume. It dries down into a very generic slightly musky sweet scent, I would have liked the patchouli in the dry down but for some reason it is completely absent on my skin which makes the entire perfume rather shallow smelling in my opinion. If this works with your skin chemistry this can be a spicey sweet yet pleasant crowd pleasing scent. I envision this to be a “time off” informal weekend scent, a scent for watching movies, for running general errands, for meeting up with friends for a casual dinner. It has a relaxed and happy aura about it. It is a nice perfume if you are looking for a gourmet with a bit of a spicey twist.

moraine

A vibrant, fresh, slightly sophisticated berry with a gentle chypre quality. There is nothing of the unpleasant "stuffy" effect I get sometimes in raspberries like Hot Couture. It's a bit generic, but uplifting and yummy. Nice to wear in a cool, wet Spring. It seems to have been intended as an autumnal scent, but I think it would depress me in that season. It's chic, but trying a little too hard.

My husband goes absolutely wild for it!

ojosverdes

Smells almost identical to Dahlia Noir down to the powdery drydown.

Camilla91

My sister says it smells like Coco Mademoiselle although I don't find any similarities (I am not a fan of Mademoiselle) except that both of these scents are classy. You can definitely describe this one as a fruitchouli as you can pick both - fruit notes and patchouli (both I love). Not very common in the streets (at least not yet) and quite unique. Would recommend it but not as a blind buy.

Sammi_co

I have to agree this reminds me of a toned down sweeter fruitier version of Angel. Nothing chocolatey here but it is the dirty patchouli. I like patchouli so that's not an issue for me, but if you don't you may want to give it a miss. Unlike a lot of the fruitchoulis out there, this one has a great amount of patchouli that jumps out instantly and remains for the entire dry down, which mellows into a creamy vanillary patchouli. It has fairly good silage and longevity. I'm quite impressed. Ive nothing against the many Delicious flankers out there, but this is a much needed and appreciated departure.

daisyvision

To me, this sort of smells like a "Diet Flowerbomb", but with more fruit. It's a very similar patchouli to Flowerbomb and La Vie Est Belle, but it lacks the overpowering strength (Which, in my opinion is a good thing, since despite liking those scents, I can never wear them without hurting my head!) There's also a little something strange or tangy in this one, that I can't quite pinpoint, perhaps it's the pink pepper. It makes it unique among other fragrances in this class, and gives it a bit of a kick.

Hippychic823

My boyfriend got me this last summer (2014) for my birthday. Initially I wasn't too impressed as I was secretly wanting Coco Mademoiselle but surprisingly it became one of my all time favorites. At first it goes on very fruity....I thought it reminded me alot of the old raspberry body spray from BBW. But it mellows into a creamy vanilla berry scent and then fades to a creamy patchouli not a sharp dirty hippy patchouli though.... more like a soft, creamy subtle patchouli. I really loved it because my chemistry loves patchouli and so do I :) I went through the bottle and now regretting it because I can't find it anywhere now. It is definitely one of my all time favorites and had the potential to be my signature summer scent. If you love patchouli but don't like smelling like a dirty hippie I recommend this, that is if you can find it.

cdhar2

I really like this scent. I first bought a rollerball at The Cosmetics Company Store and then a lotion and 1.7 ounce perfume set for $29 at Marshall's. It's a nice warm scent for day to night. It's floral, fruity and musky. I do smell the patchouli, but it is not overpowering. I feel like it's a less floral and less projection version of Flowerbomb. It lasted about 5 hours on me. If you see it on sale, I say give it a chance.

celebrity89

I think the 80's vibe may be Georgio Red.

ellina1984

Flowerbomb's flirty cousin. Nice and pretty.

that1makeupgirl

Let me start by saying that I’ve had enough of the Be Delicious range by DKNY. Sure, they smell sweet and fresh, but everyone and their mother smelled of them at one point. Thus, I tend to associate DKNY with unoriginality and passé.

When DKNY My NY came out… I had hope. I was told that this was a fragrance unlike Be Delicious, and the thought of a mélange of raspberry and pink pepper made me swoon.

And it kills me to say this… but I’m very underwhelmed.
It smells like women’s deodorant on my skin, specifically those sweet-scented sprays that took me back to middle school. Cute, but not how an adult woman wants to smell.
It’s a no for me.

mschnabel666

I blind bought a deal on the box set, being a sweetie/gourmand fan... This is great! I normally hate patchouli, and it's in here and noticable, but yet it's really sweet, spicy, warm and pleasing. It is generic, the same ole fruit-patchouli, but fans of that will love this! It's fruity, so more along the lines of Jimmy Choo Exotic than LVEB IMO.
Non offensive, and moderate/good sillage/potency. It could be cloying/overpowering depending on your nose/environment.
It's by no means a fave, but I will enjoy wearing this and if I ever run out of my 1.7, I'd happily buy another.
It's nothing sexy, more like a comfort scent you wear for YOU. Happy fruitchouli! ;)
I don't like to put age limits on scents (I love Pink Sugar and I'm 35) but this does seem a little heavy for teens/juicy fruity scent lovers.

Reminds me of a slightly LESS sweet, more fruity/fresh version of Love Notes by Ellen Tracy. If you love ultra sweet patchouli scents, you must try Love Notes.

Mmmmmm, the lotion does remind me of La Petit Robe Noir. Also has vibes of a coffee-less Rebelle.
Come to think of it, it's very similar to the Couture version of LPRN.

perfumeaddiction

I was standing in the perfume isle with my husband at the discount store. I could smell something I instantly loved but not sure where or what box it was coming from. There were also candles the next row down. Finally I found the opened box of this on the bottom shelf. It's really a lovely and very safe friendly fragrance. I sprayed it about 5 hours ago and still faintly smell it on my arm. It's heavy on the musk so avoid if your not a musk fan. Something about this really just made me feel happy. It's a happy scent!

alfa.lázcares

I got a sample of this one (spray vial) and decided to test it on my skin even though the time I tested it on paper I didn't quite like it. I just felt it very sweet for my taste, but I didn't think it was unpleasant, and so decided to try how it would behave on my skin.
I had one normal spray over my chest (my usual place) and a mini spray on my wrist which i then dab on to the other one. All of this just to say that, yeah, I notice a new scent for longer, but this one, by the 30 minute mark I was ready to take off, even with the tiny bit I wore. I was glad I sprayed carefuly, cause I don't think I can handle an over spray of this.
It opens sweet and with the raspberry very present. After a few moments the pink pepper kicks in, and it does give it a kick. Then, not even 20 minutes later a strong patchuli scent comes in. Now, I don't dislike patchuli, I really don't, but this one was too much. From the moment the patchuli kicked in, it was the only thing I could smell. Maybe with a bit of the pepper on the background, but the fruitines was not there anymore.
Overall if you love patchuli, go for it. If you can't stand it stay away, and if you like it but not sure how much, then test it first. The longevity was quite good, more than 6 hours and the next morning I could still smell it on my wrist. Sillage was okay.
It reminds me a bit of Gucci Guilty (because of the pepper and patch) but stronger and this one is not powdery. I may try it again someday, but I honestly doubt I will run out of my sample any time soon.

nickhi1984

I avoid DKNY like the plague... Not because I don't like their fragrances, I've just had too many people overspraying Be Delicious and Red Delicious in public restrooms. So you have that clean toilet smell with some DKNY - because of that, I always associate the Delicious range with toilets.
That being said, the Sales Assistant basically INSISTED that I try this. He said it was nothing like the DKNY range. A little scared & weary, I allowed the poor man to spray this on me. I gave a polite 'thank you, may I try some other fragrances?' and walked on. But then it hit me... Beautiful pink pepper & patchouli (I've noticed that these ingredients really love my skin chemistry) and I gave in. I bought a small 30ml because I'd already picked out something else which was rather expensive. But this fragrance is gorgeous. The musk comes out quite a lot later, but it subtle & mixes very well with the other notes.

kaejuntun

I tested this My NY without having read any reviews (rare for me!) and my fist impression was definitely a sweet patchouli dominant fragrance - I got the pink pepper very clearly, along with the patch and raspberry. On paper My NY reminds me very much of Jimmy Choo, but on skin I do actually get some similarities to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. My NY is definitely sweet, a bit sassy, with a good dose of sophistication. Jimmy Choo and Coco Mad both have a tendency to give me headaches from time to time, but for whatever reason My NY does not. It's a good blend of the positives of those two fragrances. I believe this is getting discontinued - I am glad I was able to get it before it's gone!

Edit: a friend smelled this on me and said it smelled almost exactly like Coco Mademoiselle, which she wears.

Lybarra118

Eeeekkk! This smells like a slightly more feminine version of TM Angel. There's the same huge dose of patchouli but less chocolate. I just tested this on one wrist with Angel on the other. My NY is much less suffocating, but otherwise, it's very similar. I'll admit, I initially smelled this from a magazine sample, picked up the lovely raspberries and instantly put it on my want list, but having tested from a decent sized roller ball sample, I can easily say this is NOT what I smelled in that magazine...I should have known better, but I got sucked in by Cosmopolitan.
I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but Angel is really all I smell.

MadMadamMimm

Pleasant, safe berry perfume.

diah.adams

My friend gave me this because she couldn't stand the smell. It gave her a headache she said. First time I tested this on my skin, it wasn't an instant love for me. I have always use the sweet fruity gourmand type of perfume, so this was something new for me. I didn't dislike it but also didn't love it either. But for some reason I kept reaching to this beauty and spray it on me just to test it. I suggest test it on your skin first or buy a small bottle tester of it to see if the smell grow on you or not. And I have to say, it took me a while but finally I can smell comfort in its scents. Its very sweet patchouli smell at first spray with a hint of raspberry and slightly vanilla. Then it just gets warmer and prettier. After 3 hours, the dry down smells like soft musk with hint of vanilla. I agree when someone said its not sophisticated nor sexy. To me its rather casual. The kind of perfume you'd wear after a hot shower before enjoying quiet night with a cup of tea..that's how I describe it.

Rhairis

On the way out, very similar to the 212 Sexy.
In the drydown reminds the 212 Sexy without the sweet notes.

loveperfumes

Not bad. Spicy whisper with a modern vibe. Soft spicy like Eau De Lacoste Sensuelle, I find them similar in style, but My NY is more toned down. And I like the puzzle bottle.

margarita.angelova

This is easily likable, especially if you're not the one particularly into perfumes and don't like to spend too much time thinking what to wear. This one here is a perfect choice for that case - attractive, young, fresh and modern. It's in the same tone as the Be Delicious line - bright and girly. Nothing unusual, nothing original, but it makes you smile. The patchouli is the typical good mood note that always fills my heart with sunshiny happiness. Adorable one!

LisaLovesPerfume

I adore this perfume. It is similar to Mademoiselle. It is soft, yet the patchouli still stands out. My NY is not loud; it is understated and refined. I know I will get many bottles in the future.

victoria.mei1992

Very dirty patchouli. In some perfume patchouli is quite nice, has no sirty smell. But here you can suffocate. Twin of Coco mademoiselle.

DKNY MyNY / Donna Karan - 04/23/2015

This is a very safe, quite affordable and pleasant perfume which I recommend either for yourself or to be offered as a gift. I believe it will not disappoint.

It is a chic floral which makes it a lovely choice for the spring and summer months, suitable for every occasion. It has a pleasant, clean, fresh, inoffensive neutrality which I favour. I do not detect much of musk or vanilla or patchouli. Instead, I feel happy surrounded by freesia and raspberry notes. I do not consider it sophisticated or sexy as I rather detect a carefree, playful girly attitude which I honestly like.

It is not sweet at all which, in my view, separates it from the overly sweet trend of the moment (which is a nice thing.) It has a good lasting power and I could smell it on my scarf on the next day.

I would compliment a lady wearing it and I do recommend it.

Enjoy the perfume quest.
Regards
Josephine

lollypops400

I purchased on-line without smelling it first as the deal was too good to pass up (100ml EDP + 50ml body lotion for $20) I decided to take the chance as I love every perfume by Donna Karen, well except for Be Delicious Night and now I'm afraid to say, this one. what I like about nearly all DKNY fragrance are the citrus, floral and fruit tones, this was polar opposite. I don't hate it but I wouldn't buy it again. A bit too musky and deep for me.

coffeekittie

I normally steer clear of musks, but this one is nice on me. After the fairly sharp initial scent, it calms down to an almost earthy warmth, with a bit of sweetness. I like it, although it won't be in constant rotation.

jockinjb

This one is safe. Very safe. And affordable. My boyfriend said it smells like Mademoiselle. He is not a fragrance person so while I don't smell the similarity, someone with a less experienced nose may. I work in a club in Vegas and often times I reach for this for work on a slower night when I don't want to use any of my more expensive gems- but I still want to smell sexy and fun...

smedmark

It took me a while to realize how much i liked it though i gravitated toward it right away. I work in fragrances at a department store and allowed my nose to adjust to it periodically for a month before buying, but it does grow on you. I love the darker, heavier musky scents, and this one feels light for the category but kept pulling me back. MyNY is spicy and deep for fall, yet without being heavy and manages to be fruity enough for day wear, Sweet but not overbearingly so (as in many of the Juicy or Michel Germain 'Sexual' fragrances, or Pink Sugar as another example). Somewhat youthful too -- maybe 20s to 30s. I would put it in the same age range as Prada Candy, Flowerbomb, Gucci Guilty, Jimmy Choo. Personally I love it. In the store we get very mixed reviews. It's not a winner with every customer, unlike many of the Armani fragrances which have almost universal appeal for example, and and I fear it may be being discontinued.

killer__queen

Eh, it's a pretty safe and generic fragrance. The top notes are pretty sharp and remind me of another DKNY scent in the Be Delicious variety, but once those dry down (and they do quickly, in about 5 minutes) it really reminds me of La Vie Est Belle.

gamos

When I read the various descriptions on the Internet, I did not think I would like it.
So when I tried it out, I was pleasantly surprised, as others here in the forum. The sweetness is a very clean, airy sweetness. It comes across as a modern, chic fragrance, which gets very vibrant, the longer you have it on your skin. I truely like it!

MemLAVA

I sampled the fragrance at Ulta when they were having a half price event on a few of their perfumes. I loved My NY on the paper tester strip and ended up grabbing the middle size as a Christmas present my mom could give me. The paper strip highlighted the berry, vanilla, and patchouli notes of the fragrance. My mom loved the fragrance on paper as well noting that it was a feminine version of what she likes in a men's cologne.

So Christmas passed and I finally got around to actually wearing the fragrance. It is still a nice fragrance but on me most of the notes are lost. I initially get a very loud burst of the pink pepper, enough that my eyes were watering in the car, with plenty of patchouli in the middle - dry down. Four hours later and the scent is a very faint peppery vanilla with no discernable sillage.

Sleek Geek Chic

I wish I would have waited until Christmas to buy it. I paid $80 for the 3.4 bottle and now it's 50% off. I went back for lotion, the roller ball, and the mini size though so pretty happy about that. This one isn't unique but I think it's very office appropriate and unoffensive. It has much more staying power when coupled with the body lotion. The body lotion is terrific. I really enjoy the warm peppery note.

tracy.debloistalley

I don't think I am a fan of any of DKNY fragrances :( Every one I try I dislike. This just smells like something I smelled in the 80s but can't put my finger on it. It's a bit much for me and smells synthetic? I think that's the right word for what i am trying to describe.

I smell the raspberry right off the bat and it's very intense to me. I don't do well with fruity scents on my skin for whatever reason, so this might be why i don't like this. It seems to be every DKNY fragrance is heavy with fruits and they turn sour which my chemistry.

I don't get many notes here except raspberry and a hint of musk and patchouli.

Top notes: raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum.
Middle notes: jasmine, freesia, and orris.
Base notes: patchouli, vanilla, musk, and ambergris.

ntabassum92

this one's okay, it's not bad:

TOP: punch of synthetic raspberry :[ not a fan. luckily i don't smell too much of this after a minute and then i get super strong galbanum (which makes it difficult to inhale, but i still like it because it's bracing) and some rosy pink pepper, which makes the smell more nose-friendly. this phase reminds me a lot of black amethyst by bath & body works, actually. pleasant, but done before. from far away, it sometimes smells like hairspray.

HEART: heart? what heart? maybe there's some candied jasmine and some peppery freesia? but at this point it smells like vanilla, the flowers are very sweetened. i think i get something kind of buttery which might be orris root, not sure.

BASE: vanilla. hints of patchouli, soft musk, maybe some ambergris? i'm not really sure, but i think the ambergris/patchouli is making the vanilla more interesting. kind of smoky, maybe a bit sour. poor projection.

actually, i kind of like this vanilla. i'm pretty sure it's the ambergris. sometimes the raspberry is making the vanilla sour, but the ambergris makes it this sweet, almost incensey/waxy vanilla, which is very interesting to smell. this scent grows on me the more days i wear it. starts off pretty generic (but still nice) and gets nicer as it goes along :)

hissyknit

I get a snootful of vanilla and honestly not much else. There's a trace of sweetness almost brown sugar-y.

It's okay for the price. Very long lasting. I put it on eight hours ago and still smell vanilla.

reeree1

I received the rollerball sample with a Sephora purchase. This fragrance is not that great. It starts off okay but within twenty minutes, it becomes a lacklustre, boring, chemical scent. For some reason, it reminds me of the years 1990-1993. Not that impressive.

tahhra

I got this as a sample with a Sephora purchase. The moment I sprayed it, my boyfriend said, "ooh! I like that. What is that? It smells...sophisticated." On first spritz it is very sweet, then soon becomes overpoweringly musky. It reminds me of Chance by Chanel (the original), which was my first ever fragrance at the age of 15. It's probably the patchouli and musk hiding under a light top note. I've learnt I can tolerate these types of fragrances if I spray them on my clothes, but not onto my actual skin. Otherwise they become sickening. You really only need one spray of this. So far I like it, but I definitely wouldn't wear it to work. It's slightly vampy, but says 23-30 to me. This would smell wrong on a young girl, but it's not quite white collar pantsuit. I see this on a brunette wearing deep red nails that match her lips and pumps, Anastasia Steele after she's been corrupted. 8/10

simbeast

this is guerlain's la petite robe noire couture minus the punchy guerlain anise. if you are looking to purchase this, do yourself a favour and buy the original instead, it's far superior.

ZELJO

nice one, nothing original but not bad, softly sweet, and, again, as usual with DK, short longevity

Tangobutt

Another Lancome La Vie Est Belle copy (Sophia by Sophia Vergara is the other one). How I long for a break from these fruity tooties.

joonzmoon

This is a nice perfume to wear during the day in the fall. It's perfect for work or a low-key environment where you want to smell noticeably nice but not overwhelming or overpowering. It'll blend in enough that people won't immediately realize it's you. The sillage is also nice and will waft around you evenly for a while in a subtle way. I am using the word "nice" a lot in this review--that's the perfect way to describe this, just: nice.

I definitely notice the patchouli and musk more than anything else. I don't like raspberries and was surprised to see that's a major note. I don't notice that at all.

lilywhite13

Fresh-fruity- spicy. I didn't detect any sweet note.

I will try it again. Btw, it's a good fragrance I would wear it during day time!

Good longevity and sillage

Togiii

I like it, the perfect balance of sweet and floral. The silage is just the right amount!

tumpabanerjee

So I read the reviews n notes, got really excited to try this one. Unfortunately it's a new launch, n available in USA n other big countries. In india dkny perfumes r available, bt this one I'm sure will b launched atleast aftr 2 more years. As my sister is coming back from US, she decided to buy this one for me. So I'll b reviewing this one on the basis of her explaination. It starts wid balanced slightly sweet smell, then the patchouli can be noticed mixed wid pink pepper, and in the base u can smell ambergris, vanilla, musk. The perfume has really gud sillage, longevity I'm not sure, bt from the reviews it looks it will stay 3-4 hrs. The best part is that it dries down to soft Woody spicy scent!! It's unique n beautiful. Can b compared to coco madamosaille

ScarlettX

This is a Big fragrance. Once sprayed, it's all over the place.
Strongly sweet. There's lots of patchouli, pink pepper and raspberry in it.
I think it represests big cities like NY very well.
I find it nice in some way, but I wouldn't know how to wear it without suffocating myself and others. I could cause headaches.

cherelune

The fragrance lives up to its name of My NY. The opening notes are bold and spicy, befitting the fast-paced and energetic urban lifestyle. While it has a brisk scent, it is never overpowering or too heady. I love the dry-down even more, as it becomes sweeter and warmer. It has good lasting power of about three hours or so, though not as long as I'd hoped. Overall, I find this an intriguing fragrance that can be worn day or night.

klinkerbink

Heeeavy on the berry smell at first, mellows out to a spicier scent, but still rather sweet and nectary.

Not for me, but I can definitely understand why someone into fruitier scents would like it--sort of an early autumn scent, warm but not heavy.

synergypsy

Got a sample from Sephora. Galbanum monster. Gave me palpitations-- honestly. And a followup punch of huge (to me) patchouli. Disastrous with my chemistry.

HanamiTsukimi

I'm quickly falling in love with this. It's a little cheeky, and I love cheeky.

It has a fresh, spicy vibe rather than the usual syrupy take on raspberry. As it dries the pink pepper calms down and a warm, sweet patchouli becomes dominant. Yes, it's a fruitchouli, and it's a good one. It would make a great everyday scent for crisp, fall weather.

I didn't expect to enjoy this at all so I'm happily surprised. After the Be Delicious/Sweet Delicious line's metallic note, I didn't think DKNY could do a sweet fragrance I'd like. But I suspect I'll find myself picking up a bottle of this on the sly before too long.

Dort0625

I bought a few things at Ulta a few weeks ago and they gave me this as one of the free samples in my bag. I must say I LOVE many of the different DKNY perfumes, so I had high hopes for this. Sadly, what a HUGE let down. To me and on me, it smells like a terrible powdery perfume that would have been a huge hit in the 80s!!! Ya know, there isn't many perfumes out there that actually make me want to wash it off of my skin immediately after spraying, I will let just about any perfume sit a while before making any decisions! Not this one! I really can't even begin to put into words just how terrible this is ON ME!!! Perhaps for others it's not like this, but I will say, you couldn't PAY ME to wear this perfume for even one day!

beatrix75

it's certainly delicious sweet fragrance specially good long lasting fragrance smell out different from the other dkny fragrances dosent have the stong too much kinde of smell you know what i meen like the green äple or the rest ! this one i like good job

Lucy Peach

At the moment I am not too sure about this one. There is alot going on with it, mash up style. But I've got a feeling it might be a grower so not ruling it out yet. Good for Autumn maybe.

alyunie

Diff. not a boring perfume! There's a spiciness to it. Its refreshingly sweet, spicy hot, with a hint of floral. It's sexy, bold, energetic and exciting but not heady. Perfect nighttime scent. Very befitting of NYC

victoria.mei1992

Pink pepper is strongest note, after goes hint of vanilla and raspberry. And has a dirty wibe like dirt or something, maybe patchouli.

genny17

One needs to try hard to smell like a { whore} with a Donna Karan perfume!!

Greenandgold

That must be the most annoying perfume advert I've ever seen. I can't stand Rita Ora.

papergurl

I had written a review that disappeared. I came back to this one on three separate excursions and it is now my go to end of summer/I am ready for fall scent. Office friendly, fruitchouli, but more. It is definitely balanced and I love patchouli, Midnight Poison is my "go to sleep" fragrance. It is really a step up for DKNY, I could never embrace the apple. This fragrance reminds me of a walk in the City, on one of those end of summer and you can feel the nip of autumn in the air afternoons. Heels clicking on pavement and you just want to light that praline/pumpkin/fall candle, but it is still August. The "nip" is the rasberry and the orris root and ambergris are such a nice foil. So, yep got the largest bottle and there feels like enough substance, that I may make it through it by the end of winter without boredom.

Arlene-Beatrix

I like it, but it reminds me of a cake. Really! It's like I smelled a pie. Is it all raspberry's fault? Try it to find out.

antonpan

A modern interpretation of sadly discontinued Gucci Rush. The earthy peachy patchouli-sh base is here, though now it is enriched by fresher fruity opening and sparkling dry down reminding of Jimmy Choo Parfum. If you like Gucch Rush, Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta, this one is for you. The scent itself, by the way, is more mature and sophisticated than its concept/advertising.

Shoshi

I really like this! And I am picky about perfumes...In fact, I rarely like any of the new releases these days. This is a sweetish very wearable chypre that's not too strong, subtle enough for work. That is unusual for me to find. I like chypre, and patchouli, but usually can't pull it off for work. This has become my go-to scent for everyday. But I would wear it in the evening as well. For me, it's Coco Mademoiselle, but more complex, more subtle, and more wearable.

chicagogirl

It smells really pretty, it's a fancy fall sort of scent. Heavy patchouli with pleasant undertones of flowers and fruit. It smells SO much like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle but a bit more woody. It's almost masculine in the beginning in my opinion...However it's still lighter than Mademoiselle. Think of it as a lighter, less intense version of Mademoiselle. I really like it!

jonr951

I ordered a rollerball on eBay. It's raspberry, pink pepper, and patchouli. Been there, smelled that. It's nice though. But that's it. : )

Jasminalia

A fruitchouli : oh, it's so surprising !

Eaugirlspirit

Upon first spray, this immediately reminded me of coco mademoiselle, but sweeter and fruitier, like one of the other reviewers also said. You can immediately smell patchouli among everything else. I could also smell the fresh liveliness of the pink pepper, fresh raspberry and beautiful white musk. It is a very uplifting, energizing scent because of these top notes.
As it sat on my wrist and the top notes settled some, I could really smell the orris root mixing with the raspberry among a deeper backdrop of vetiver and patchouli. Although the zestiness was still there. This scent has a lot of earthiness and spiciness, which I LOVE. Lovers of Gucci Guilty and Chanel Chance will love that spiciness.
As my body temperature rose throughout the wearing, the scent became warmer with it, and I could really smell the beauty of the vetiver in the drydown, but all the top and middle notes became more blended and subdued, but created a warm, musky smell...in heaven..
I kept getting whiffs of a Coco Mademoisellish scent because of that patchouli + fruit combo. However, I don't like coco mademoiselle all that much because it wears way too strongly on me. This is lighter but still has so much body, and you gotta be a fruitchouli lover to get this.
All in all, I love this scent and was sorry I didn't buy the 100ml because this will become my fall staple!

bluepistachio

For earthy lovers! To me this is a deep and mature fragrance in a good way. Patchouli and pepper are the most dominant note, all the other notes are shy. Though it works. Not for me. If you're a patchouli or spice lover then It's worth trying IMO.

khatsar

This is a clean, fruity-vanilla scent with a soft hint of patchouli. My NY's raspberry note has an icy, tart, cranberry-like quality that I enjoy, and the freesia keeps things light and fresh. I also like how the patchouli melds with the vanilla and light musk to form a creamy, sweet base rather than a sugar-sweet one. This is a modern scent for sure. I am reminded a bit of Jimmy Choo; however this is less "date night" and lacks the stronger patchouli and buttery toffee notes I found so intoxicating in JC. Chanel Chance has far more character and is less fruity-sweet.

While it's not one-dimensional, My NY lacks a certain depth and almost comes across as diluted somehow. Ultimately this a scent I expect in a high-end body wash or candle rather than a perfume. Not only is the fragrance less than memorable, it appears to fade from my skin quite quickly. Worth a sniff, though, especially if you enjoy floral and subtly musky scents like Bath & Body Works Moonlight Path.

Eirlys

My NY is not the typical fruity perfume. The patchouli in this makes it more interesting and more chypre. It's quite floral and fruity at first, but at the 5 minute mark, the patchouli appears. It certainly has the vibe of Miss Dior (and Cherie), La Petit Robe Noire Couture, and Chanel Chance because the fruity note is dominant until the patchouli comes out.

The longevity is about 3-4, which I think is decent for an EDT. The bottle of this perfume is so cute. I really like the concept that the top represents the buildings of New York.

Overall, I think this is an interesting perfume, very chic and urban with a hint of femininity. If you like Miss Dior and Chanel Chance, maybe you'll really like DKNY My NY.

genny17

Just got it, and I am glad I bough it! It is true it isn't the usual DKNY signature, but it is in a way a true woman' s perfume, nothing overly sweet or girlish about it..feminine, warm. Creamy, it is fresh and smooth at the same time..to my nose the right balance of fresh notes with a stronger emphasis on a warm base, I detect the orris root, the patchouli is real soft, I dont get much fruity notes but the overall tone of the scent is pretty, intimate, real nice..a nice soft chypre..
It reminds me of another scent, Jimmy Choo, in the earthiness, so it isn't groundbreaking that way, but definitely very nice. Longevity is correct also..

almarie

I just received this in the mail from Sephora. I adore this scent! It's definitely more chypre-like than I had imagined, and a little different than most DKNY scents, but it's great! I don't have anything else like it in my collection and I can for sure pick up on the raspberry in this but it's not an overly fruity scent. It has just the right amount of fruitiness to balance out the patchouli/vanilla drydown. I love it!

genny17

Sephora ls selling it now!!

twillocks

sounds interesting, can't wait
