I like it. It's simple, clean, Woody and aquatic. A little bit on the masculine site but i love to wear men perfume so that is ok for me. Projection and longtivity is good as long as you spray generous . This is my second bottle but it will be my last. I get a little bored with this one. The scent is good but i'm nowadays into the vintage power bomb perfumes and chypre ones. So with the years your taste for perfume definitely change. I will use my bottle up i enjoy the scent enough to finish it. 😊

mirrorghost

this opens with a blast of alcohol along with plum, orange and magnolia, followed by some orchid and peach. a fruity floral with a bit of brightness. the wisteria comes forth more after a few minutes, and i think i smell that slightly salty note others have mentioned. the orange gets a lot stronger over time and it turns primarily to a sparkling orange magnolia on my skin. i like it but need to retry in warmer weather i think, because it's a bit too sharp and strong right now.

This was out of stock for aaaaages and I was afraid it had been discontinued but I just checked and it’s back! Hurrah!

Every time I wear this I love it more. My husband loves this too. The description on the Elizabeth Arden website is slight more evocative than the notes listed above….

“Mediterranean captures the ease of spirit and the pure natural beauty of Capri, Italy. Celebrating sunshine, clear blue skies and a warm ocean breeze, sensual florals combine with creamy woods to reflect the whispering waters and rich textures of the Mediterranean”

Bang on! Add in some juicy fruits and that’s how this feels! I get a (very gentle!) slightly salty ocean spray note in here along with the official notes listed below.

Top - Sicilian Orange, Peach Nectar Sorbet, Damask Plum
Mid - Star Magnolia, Radiant Wisteria, Madagascar Orchid
Base - Addictive Sandalwood, Fluid Skin Musk, Golden Amber Whisper

I generally get on well with Arden fragrances, and count several amongst my “keepers”. So, I really wanted to like this, and have tried repeatedly, but on my skin it has a ‘tangy’ quality that I find quite off-putting. It’s not bad enough to dump it, and I feel incomplete without scent, so will use it on occasions where my only aim is to not feel naked - like when I’m cleaning the house or doing yard work. I have several strong contenders for an economical everyday wear though, so I shan’t purchase again. I’m sure on others it is a winner, but sadly not for me.

silverrosesc

I love this! Exceptionally easy to wear. Very approachable, fresh, adult. There is a definite crisp salty accord underpinning the florals, which means this isn't sweet-fruity or overly flowery despite the notes listed.
I love acquatic notes and more masculine scents, but prefer to avoid "unexpected" scents in the office - so this is a perfect compromise. Going to be my work signature fragrance as we start getting into humid, hot summer weather.

AlyssaBrindley

I love this!! However, every time I wear it my mom says I smell like butter. I don’t get where she smells this at but it’s making me a little apprehensive.

bren400

After purchasing a vial to test, the fragrance went from ok and nothing special in the late 2000's to almost a like over the years (based solely from what I remembered smelling) and purchased in 2022 (because it was on special for $12 for a 3.4oz.) The fragrance doesn't seem to develop into anything, kinda like what you get from the top notes is what you will continue to get throughout the drydown. Lackluster. Now it's 2023 and I've worn it about 5 times at home to see if I get around to actually liking it and sadly, I can't. Talk about giving a fragrance enough chances and time for ya'll to get along.😕

Soledad89

The bottle is lovely, in a gorgeous shade of blue. Unfortunately, I don't like this scent. For me it smells flat and hollow, like it's lacking something. It's rare that I get with aquatic fragrances because there's a certain note that doesn't agree with my nose. Which is a shame since based in the notes this has magnolia and wisteria notes.
I held on to my bottle for a time to see if I'll eventually warm up to this scent until I gave up and passed it on to a friend.

Loislane

Mediterranean is one of my favourite perfumes. It shines in summer but because it has a very ‘clean’ smell it is perfect year round. It’s sunshine in a bottle and smells exactly like sailing around the French Riviera, salty air and a fresh bouquet of the finest flowers nearby.

Francilicious

Fatima1219

I blind-bought this yesterday, it is my scent of the day today. It is really nice! It is fresh, soapy, and floral. My husband really likes this. I think that it has great projection and longevity. The Magnolia is quite pleasant in this fragrance. Also, beautiful bottle! This is appropriate for anything at anytime of day, lol.

arizonaruby

Nicely blended floral fruity scent. As other reviewers have said, it’s nice and inoffensive but not really a standout. I do like that it’s not too sweet - the fruit notes lean more citrusy. It’s definitely for spring/summer but the name is right, it’s more ‘Mediterranean’ than beachy or tropical. Longevity and sillage are pretty poor (have to reapply every 90 mins) but that’s expected for the price.

jswenson

The wisteria in my bottle must have grown stronger, and evolved over the years. I swear I can smell the similarities between real wisteria flowers and the wisteria in this perfume. The wisteria in my area has an intense very deep muskiness to it. My bottle is not far off from that, but I think the magnolia keeps it from taking over, but who knows.

COLOREDGIRLSHUFFLE

I blind bought this, and it's a nice scent. Inoffensive. I can see this as a lightweight summer and spring scent. Sparkling, and clean with a woodsy dry down.

PaperInABook

Blind bought this coz of the beautiful blue bottle. Its a soft woody+floral scent, quiet kind of fragrance. this reminds me of some tropical little white and blue flowers in spring/summer late afternoon along a peaceful river. Yes, this might be a good perfume for bedtime too.

Btw this scent does share the same vibe as SF Incanto Charm.

LindaL100

this is a nice light and soft fresh floral fragrance that's quite versatile, you can wear it everyday and all year round

AmakeNyasha

Mediterranean is my night scent i spray this after my night bath and i love it it does not cause nausea to me or headaches it is fresh.

"And They Say That Perfume Is A Memory"
Well This One Sure Is Just That For Me!!

Firstly I Have To Say That I "REALLY LOVE" This Fragrance, And Secondly That Elizabeth Arden Gave It The Wrong Name!! For It Should Have Been Called "Elizabeth Arden MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN OR GARDEN'S"!! For This Fragrance Is Definitely "NOT" Aquatic In Anyway!! But It Certainly Does Carry And Lend A Salty Sea Air Vibe, That's Mixed With The Most Beautiful Floral/Fresh/Garden Notes, And Citrus Blooms!! Just Imagine A Beautiful Coastal Garden Somewhere In South Spain, Your Sitting On The Adjoining Terrace Area, Enjoying Both Iced Drinks, And The Warm Mediterranean Evening Sea Breeze, And The Blazing Spanish Sun Dipping Lower In The Early Evening Sky, The Salty Sea Air Carrying The Full Array Of Beautiful Mixed Floral Notes From The Flowers, And Citrus Bushes Planted In The Garden, Before You Head Out For Evening Dinner!! This Is What "Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean" Really Is And Stands For!!

I First Smelt This Very Fragrance On A Very Nice Air Hostess, Who Was On-board Our Outbound Flight To Lanzarote, As She Busily Served Us Our In Flight Evening Meal, Leaning Over Me, She Smelt Absolutely Beautiful And So Fresh, That I Basically Had To Stop Her In Her Tracks, And Compliment Her On Her Choice Of Perfume She Was Wearing!! And I Remember Her Smile, And Saying To Me, "You Like It, Agh Thank's Very Much For Saying, It's That Brand New One (Just Launched) From Elizabeth Arden Called Mediterranean!! And The First Time Im Trying It Out Tonight!! "Well It's Really Beautiful On You" I Said!! "Well I'm Near Sure It's On Special Intro Offery Price Here Tonight, And There's A Few 100ml's On The Duty Free Trolley, I'll Be Bringing Round Later On"!! "Tell You What, I'll Put One By For You, Incase You Loose Out On It, As I Don't Think You'll Find It In Any Of The Perfume Shop's On The Island Just Yet, Nor In Duty-Free In Arrecife Airport"!! And Im Sooooooo Glad That She Kept Her Promise, And Did Put One By For Me That Night, As The Twelve On-Board The Flight, Where Soon All Quickly Snapped Up!! And Im More Than Happy To Say, That I've Always Had It In My Vast Perfume Collection Ever Since!! The Bottle It Arrives In, Is The Most Stunning Shade Of Blue, Heavy Glass Pebble Style, With A Tight Fitting Hammered Silver Top, The Bottle Fit's Perfect In The Palm Of Your Hand!! I blind bought this last year some time. I had seen it for years and wondered if I'd like it. If I'd bought it all those times I probably wouldn't have.

When I first blind tested it I liked it but just wasn't sure if it gave off too mature vibes. I've tested it here and there for a year and just recently decided that I like it. Lately I've been wearing it to bed and its very comforting and cozy to me.

I love the beach and ocean. This does give off ocean vibes but I feel more like sandy vibes. I feel like this scent would smell good in dry heat like the desert.

Anyhoo, I want to find the large size of this one. Its just a comforting, beachy (but beachy in smelling like the beach), sandy floral. I like it and its pretty!!

Dorothy812

Everyone calling this thin and insubstantial… I wish I were you? I really enjoy the opening on my skin. It’s fresh, there’s a sweetness to it, and there’s something in it that makes it funky and unique. Five minutes later, I can smell nothing but the most overpowering, headache inducing, heady magnolia. Enhanced with the musk of the base notes, it becomes completely unbearable to me and I can’t escape it.

alatchka

My review of this frag is nothing new. It falls along the lines of other's reviews except a little nastier, lol! "Why EA do you house this fruity, floral, cheap smelling (well, my husband decided to buy me this $12.99 frag over the $24.99 one I really wanted...the cheapskate, lol!) fragrance in this beautiful blue bottle and call it Mediterranean?" This frag is nothing like the name nor the bottle denotes. The bottle is beautiful, fits in the palm of your hand...is cool to the touch. I've been to the Mediterranean and never smelled anything close to this...except maybe the urinal cakes that Greek restaurants put in their restrooms...you know the one's I'm talking about with the hole in the ground and two foot pads you stand on where you squat and hover? Double icky, the smell and the experience. Couldn't wait to get back to the Netherlands, where my Aunt scrubbed the street in front of her house and where rich people did not throw their garbage off their yachts into the blue seas or use the sands on their beaches as a giant ashtray. But I digress. This fragrance went right into my "gift closet", but I don't know anyone I dislike that much to gift it to, lol! Don't get me wrong their are plenty inexpensive frags that I LOVE, but this stuff is cheap to purchase and cheap smelling!

LouD23

Oh gosh, I don't know what I think of this. When I spray it in the air I get a lovely whiff of gentle florals, sharp citrus and fresh sea air. But on my skin the citrus turns bitter, alcoholic and almost masculine. I lose the gentle florals. In the first few minutes I don't like it at all, but I'm going to wait for the dry down, to see if I can get back to that gorgeous first sniff.
This isn't a safe scent by any means, despite the notes suggesting it ought to be. I expected it to be a light breeze of a perfume, but instead, it's a gust of wind. This isn't a hot summer day, it's one with a deliciously cool breeze blowing, and enveloping you in wafts of flowers and citrus trees. You're not in your bathing costume swimming in the Mediterranean sea, you're perhaps enjoying a cool drink on a terrace overlooking the beach, or taking a stroll along the sand while the tide is out, or you're exploring the edges of a little seafront town close to it. I'd say it's unisex leaning feminine, and could work to take you from a fresh summers day, into a cool summer night.
Now that it's settling down on my skin, the mandarin is cutting through that fresh air smell, and underneath is the soapy cleanliness of creamy magnolia. Smells different on my wrist (sweeter, more citrus) than it does on the back of my hand.
This is a strange one, and I think I'll have to come back to it before I commit to an assessment.
I'm thinking that once I've spent some time with it, especially in the warmer months, I'll probably come to love it, so I'll give it an OK for now and edit later, comment on sillage, performance and so on.

Piscean-Blue

The thing about Mediterranean is it doesn't smell like what you think it's going to be. Judging by the reviews, I think a lot of the confusion is because of the packaging and presentation, the watery blue color and what not. The bottle looks like of Cool Water-ish, but it's not that at all! Well... almost not. It's not "aquatic" so much as it is "oceanic". It's a bitter fruity floral with a substantial dose of sea-salt folded in. It's like standing in a flowery garden situated very close to the sand and sea. When I say "very close" I mean literally steps away.

This isn't an easy-breezy comfortable scent; I can see why it's so polarizing. You either love it or loathe it. I actually learned to love it, but only as a nighttime before bed spritz.

Listen: the stuff is dirt cheap. You can find a full sized bottle for ten bucks, which is very decent for what you're getting. It's pretty good quality!

LSAUG

I agree w/ the review below this is a thin perfume. I bought it because I fell in love w/ the bottle, and I got it super cheap. The bottle is super pretty, just wish the scent in it was as pretty as the bottle. I get no plum from this whatsoever. This smells like a very thin citrus magnolia perfume w/ a lot of masculine aftershave musk. I would classify this as unisex and almost masculine to my nose. It kind of reminds me a bit of Light Blue by D&G, which I hate. They are both heavy on the citrus but while the bamboo makes Light Blue unappealing for me, this one becomes unappealing because of the aftershave musk. AS much as I like the bottle, I am going to gift this to my baby sister. She loves Light Blue by D&G and I know she will like this one and love the bottle. The more I smell this the bigger my headache grows. I don't know what it is w/ Elizabeth Arden, they are really hit or miss and lately they have been missing w/ me. I think I like their 90's offerings a lot better, it seems this company went off a cliff when the 2000's came. Such a shame.

Phantomias

This is painfully thin and insubstantial. Maybe the sample has deteriorated, but I can hardly detect any fragrance. That's too bad because the notes look interesting. The bottle is lovely, and that's sadly the only positive thing I can say about M.
Updated: after sampling another batch I am sure the first sample has deteriorated. M. is a fresh aquatic with a fruity touch and quite nice. Sillage and lasting power are modest.

RandomPatterned

Edit summer 2022 - I get more of a creamy sunscreen vibe on the dry down while wearing in hot weather which makes it better but I am still not convinced to like it enough to purchase a full bottle.

A middle of the road citrus floral. No one of the fruit notes dominates, it is merely a generic sense of fruit that I smell. I wish it was more plum or peach forward. The wisteria, magnolia and orchid blend is a little more unique than the usual lavender, rose and white flower combo usually paired with fruits. Pleasant enough to wear. No musk to me, only a tiny bit of amber and barely any sandalwood.

corgi02

I had read these reviews and convinced myself I wouldn't like it and I LOVE it. Almost didn't buy it. Very mild, powdery, creamy trace fruity floral with a faintly tropical vibe though it's not really in the notes. No gardenia or coconut which are my nevers. Reminds me of another fave Sunset Dreams by Caribbean Joe. Has a few different notes but they are almost interchangeable to my nose.
One of my top frags in the rotation now. Edit: I've been wearing this over a month off and on. Now the powderiness in the dry down is bothering me a little. I love the top and heart notes but here we go again. I see that powder can be overdone for me. I don't wear it as much as I'd thought. I don't see any orris or vanilla in the notes list so maybe it's the amber that's not agreeing with me. It can't be the sandalwood or musk. What a shame. I really am put off by that note after it drys down. The first 15 minutes are heavenly but then you're stuck with it.

christuinoa

This does NOT smell like tommy bahama very cool!! and the bottle is so pretty and deceiving- hinting that this would be an aquatic scent but it sadly is not. i bought both in the same haul and love tbvc while i’m absolutely repulsed by mediterranean. this smells like an older man’s aftershave. musk, musk, more musk, and a tiny hint of fruity freshness. it’s not often that a perfume can make me nauseated, but it happened to me AND my boyfriend after testing this out on my skin. I believe that this has been reformulated bc there’s no way all the positive reviews were smelling the same smell i was.

Mjulianne

I so wanted to love this. Elizabeth Arden scents usually work well on me. This smells like burnt snickerdoodles.

zelda318

this is one of my long time staples for the heat of summer.... smells like a soft salty windy beach......i always get lots of good comments from both men and women with this one....it will always be in my SUMMER SCENTS....

Bammagal

Formula has changed. This isn’t anything like the fresh, amazing scent that I used to receive compliments on every time I wore it. The IFRA has ruined the fragrance industry. All of theses companies are having to reformulate and are changing the notes, trying to find other notes that will bring back longevity and sillage. Sad. I wish the fragrance companies would move to the US and ignore the IFRA

Evenfragrance

Wanted to be transported to the amalfi coast: glistening sun, bicycles, houses on hillside and lost and lots of blue sky and ocean spray. I think it was the bottle. But this is definitely more inland. On me I picked up a distinct aniseed or licorice note, after about 10 minutes. But their was a lot of fruity tea and my association with that is chatime. Interesting. But not Mediterranean in my imagination.

fyetan

Mine is a mini which may have changed the scent.

I'm getting a very muted fruit (plum/peach?) on top of musk. Kind of like what you would expect warm clean linens at a beachside resort to smell like. Comforting.

ScorpionX

I get a blast of Sicilian lemons on initial spray and dry down of acquatic musk with a lingering lemon scent. No plum as mentioned, just a rich lemon scent. Great perfume for summer .

mila476

For some reason this isn't really working for me... it's a nice floral, but there's something in it that just reminds me of sunscreen, and it's not because of any association of any of the notes here with sunscreen (I'm specifically thinking of Banana Boat SPF 50 which I used to use as a kid, and I don't believe it's scented). Just sort of an oily, waxy type of smell I guess? The dry-down is nice but the opening is just not for me.

AMGMoonHalo

Blind bought this cheapie at Marshall's thinking it was an aquatic scent. It turned out to be a sweet powdery fruit woody floral with a slight hint of aquatic notes. Initially, the immediate spray was sharp citrus which faded almost immediately. I get a peachy, plummy like vanilla followed by Wisteria. Having been to the Mediterranean Sea, this isn't what the beach areas smell like, but it is a beautiful scent. This is a skin/close contact scent, as it does not project far. It reminds me of a fruity salad with edible flowers. Inoffensive, office safe. Suitable for daily wear. Has a coziness to it and comforting, especially in these stress inducing times.

kayleenanncooke

This smells like licorice (wisteria) gardenia and plum. Good for spring but not the best ever it's a skin scent after 30 mins. Smells nice wish it projected longer.

Jenniferknowsbest

The opening is pretty good. Wisteria and plummy. Shortly after, it fades to a lotion or blue hand soap smell. Inoffensive but I like my perfume to smell GOOOOOOD, not like lotion.

sezarune

I used to wear this all the time about 10 years ago. I absolutely loved it. I just bought a bottle again and it is definitely not for me. I don't know if it has changed or I have, but it is not good for me. It is way too strong. Just one tiny spray lingers all day. It is too sickly sweet. It reminds me of the intense, all day, cheap stink you get from the Britney Spears range.

Alces Alces

You can really smell the wisteria in this. Wisteria should be used more because it is a delightful fresh floral but not widely recognized. Mediterranean feels just right for late spring and early summer. Not soapy, more like luxurious spa products.

VikingWoman

What a lovely little gem. Non-candy sweetness and still very fresh. Somewhat aquatic but not overly so. I do enjoy the musky and wisteria aspect. The plum reminds me so much of the plum in the vintage "Poison".
There is a well groomed aspect to this one. It is the scent of a woman with luxurious good hygiene and class.
It does come out a bit strong for the first 5-10 min. but then settles so clean and luxurious. Incredible considering the price.

mevans

This is a hot climate and ocean breeze in a bottle. I mean if you asked someone to describe the scent of a Mediterranean beach they could present this to you and boom, mic drop. It's not just aquatic, it really takes you there. Whatever fruit or floral it has going on, it just completely comes off as aquatic for me. It's good for summer, very fresh and airy. I like this scent but my husband absolutely does not. So I can see how it could be polarizing. I think this is one of those ones that you either wholly like or dislike. I like it.

Keseredes

Here is nothing mediterranean. Avon like woody florally perfum. Quality is same like Avon.

MediaevalWench66

I have the 100ml bottle, that I've put away in my collection of EA fragrances.

I really can't wear "aquatic/watery" scents, as they don't seem to smell right. Perhaps its because I wear scents with a lot of depth, or spicy. I tend to gravitate towards incense (I adore Frankinsence) or heavy floral scents.

Mediterranean is refreshing, but not light and airy.

Reviewer Justfloral review says everything I want to say and Justfloral sums it up beautifully.

Catsylvania

Such an underrated fragrance! I used to wear it a lot back in the day, and it's such a great pick for them hot summer days especially when you live in really densely packed cities. That way it feels as if you have this cool and refreshing cloud follow you around and emanate this breezy aura which came off to me as a light mix of wisteria, orchid and a slight touch of magnolia.

I reckon, once I finish my Green Tea, Mediterranean is going to become my new mandatory summer staple for the days when it's so hot that you simply don't want to reach for anything else.

A Reflection of the Heart

I happened upon this scent and at first whiff got super excited, because it reminded me of D & G Red. You know, the discontinued frag with the red top in the red velvet box. So, I bought it. Drove home, wondering if I layered it with D & G The One or its dupe Zara Black Amber if the result would be even closer. It is. Heaven!

ViouAmara

This shouldn’t be blue. It should be gold. Flowery mandarine, with long amber and woody side. It is in the same family as a Provocative Woman or a Zara Black Amber.
Great projection, simple vibe but get a lot of compliments.

ColdNose

Not sure why this gets such a low rating...thinking it might have something to do with the juice not reflecting the look of the bottle as much as people might expect?

I have to agree with a previous poster who said it smells like spring in the Mediterranean. I love it for April/May (since I have several other frags I consider more "summery" and/or aquatic for later in the year) and it will be in rotation for the foreseeable future.

It was a great blind buy, although probably not a safe one for everybody.

Mbrock

I had the same expirence as the reviewer below me, RuthRose. This is always listed on the "best aquatic" lists but its not aquatic at all. When people ask for aquatics they are talking about Eternity Aqua & Cool Water not this. I dont even know what the stink is. Its a linear, never changing stench that is sickening. Its not fresh, aquatic or summery. I get no floral. No citrus. Every single note in this says I should love it but its vile.

RuthRose

I was expecting something aquatic and fresh and found this sickly and unpleasant. I'm not sure what note I was smelling, the peach I definitely could detect and it's something I don't like in a fragrance. A couple of hours later it calmed and I enjoyed the powdery smell and had a moment of what so many people love about this perfume. But on my skin, it just doesn't work.

avierra93

i bought this for cheap at TJM, i thought i had smelled it before at a local perfume shop, because i was told that it was on the tester strip i was given. turns out what was on that was red door, but this is decent enough for $9.99. good for after a shower on a hot day.

MadameDex

I started working for EA during the initial launch of this perfume. As part of our dress code, we were required to wear only Arden fragrances on the sales floor. I dutifully spritzed this on during my shifts and though it is a well-composed fragrance that smells delightful on others, it is probably my least favorite of all the EA fragrances I sold. Far too sweet (plum overload), gourmand and aquatic on me. The shimmer powder and body cream were wonderful gift items, but sadly none of it wore well for me personally.

Forbiddenjade

An absolute delight, it lingers on your skin like a caress.
Lightly salty, fruit playfully tip toeing around, wisteria whispering all over you. It's a classy dress for the evening, a fresh and comforting camisole in hot summer days.

This fragrance is underrated, wrongly so. Bought a 100ml as it was on offer at the local perfume store; I never regretted it. Each time I splashed myself with it, people always commented favourably.

It's not at all a "safe" buy. And the acquatic element is more the result of an elaborate balance of fruit, amber, musk and sandalwood gathering where everyone has a say. It's sophisticated and demure at the same, gifting you with that "je ne sais quoi" of unattainability.

Love, love, love.

MnM

I purchased this fragrance when it was first released. When I tried it at the fragrance counter I "thought" I liked it, but when I tried it afterwards, it just didn't do it for me. It was just meh and smelled kind of on the cheap side (I purchased the EDP). It sat on my dresser forever, very forgettable, and to top it off, my beau didn't care for it at all.

justfloral

Similar to Curious Britney Spears?? Noooo.

I've bought this cheapie for 5 euros (!!).

It bears some resemblance to Cool Water, True Star and Mugler Feminity !. But it's sweeter with creamy note (wisteria). It's also very similar to Wunderwasser Elixir by 4711

I can scent: sweet creamy note, resembling sun screen cream? and almost fudge sweetness (Wisteria sinensis?, Mimosa?) + vinyl note (plastic) changing into fresh salty cucumber salad / watermelon (Cool Water / True Star note) + garden angelica musky-figgy note (Mugler Feminity!).

There is nothing outstanding about it, but it's just nice. I like that sunscreen note blended with saltiness of the ocean

Try it if you like:
Feminity Mugler
Cool Water
True Star
Wunderwasser Elixir

I use it when I want to smell of nothing :)

EDIT: it has also J'adore DNA to it (the combination of plum, orchid, peach and magnolia).

PROS: it's carcinogens free ! (no ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, benzophenone nor BHT)

Alces Alces

When I first bought this a year ago, I was not that impressed. Maybe reading Turin & Sanchez's negative review in their first A-Z Guide put me off of Mediterranean - I should know better than that since I only agree with them about half the time. The guide claims Mediterranean is average and unimaginative. I dissent; this does not remind me of anything else that I have tried (but I am not an expert like they are). Lately, I have been wearing it anyway to decide whether I should keep it, and WOW - I really love this!

Although aquatic notes are not listed, Mediterranean is slightly aquatic, maybe because it feels airy and fresh. Mostly what I get is wisteria, a beautiful early spring smell here in Texas. The plum is well done, not heavy and suffocating as it can be in other contexts. Wisteria and plum blend to make a beautiful accord - fresh, sweet but not cloying, very PURPLE. The bottle is a gorgeous blue, yet the scent is all PURPLE. Smells the way I imagine the Riviera to smell, or maybe a Greek island with many flowers blooming.

Just a gorgeous scent and different from everything else I have. I compared it with Tommy Bahama Very Cool for Women - nothing alike. Maybe I am anosmic to something but Very Cool is a citrus fresh watery clean scent (which I do like), and Mediterranean is much more luscious and rich.

If you like purple florals, Mediterranean may work for you. Great in the heat, too.

greyhoundmom

Love this fragrance and the beautiful blue bottle! Mediterranean is a salty, musky yet fresh aquatic plum scent with a little dash of spicy greenness from the wisteria. Sweet and feminine with beachy vibes. Another great bang for your buck cheapie.. fantastic performance and longevity. Another blind buy gone right, this perfume is perfect for the deliriously hot summer we are having in central California.

I used to get this same chill seaside sun goddess vibe from Mugler Womanity before Womanity began to wear too metallic on my skin.. I'm happy to have a replacement!

pollyjt

I used to love this and wear it daily for work as it is so inexpensive. I bought it again recently and I just couldn't stomach it. Instant nausea and headache. Funny thing is I love the smell of it on other people though. Breezy fresh floral.

Scentstrumpet

I get absolutely no fruit with this. Instead, on my skin, “Mediterranean” is an herbaceous, sea salt, and aquatic floral blend. It smells like something from a brand like Diptyque, Jo Malone, or Acqua di Parma. In fact, I have Elizabeth Arden’s “Mediterranean” on one wrist, and Jo Malone’s “Wood Sage and Sea Salt” on the other, and they are nearly indistinguishable from one another. The only difference is that “Mediterranean” cost me $8 for a 1 oz bottle at TJ Maxx, and has stronger silage and lasting power. Silage is close to the skin, but others can still smell it. Lasting power is two hours, versus Jo Malone’s 15 minutes.

Tevezege

I got received this perfume today... I'm a little' bit disappointed, because I was waiting a sweater and not a so much fruity scent.
Like the simpler little sister of AE True Love. Not so sharp but also soapy and powdery perfume. And i'm not detected any aquatic effect.
Much more citrus, and fruit like flower and sweetness. OK it's musk and powder but for me the wisteria, magnolia is not enough strong. Nice but not a masterpiece, it's will be not my catharsis, perfect for the weekdays.

Sade800

This is DIVINE!

I have gone through at least four bottles of this.
It smells just like the 'Mediterranean.'

It is deliciously salty and I love it.
More for Spring/ Summer

I read many reviews of EA's Mediterranean, but I wish I had read a lot more before blind-purchasing it. I ended up giving it away.

This does NOT mean that the scent is bad, it just didn't work for me at all.

I have bought many fragrances that didn't wow me on the first spray, but I knew I needed to give them time before I formed a solid opinion.

As soon as I sprayed Mediterranean, I knew I'd be giving it away. Even after storing it and coming back to it after a few weeks.

I like aquatic fragrances, especially those that manage not to fall into the "generic/been there, done that" category. This fragrance is not generic in my opinion. It's unique and quite complex, so that's a good thing for those who appreciate more versatility in their fragrances.

The notes in this fragrance have so much promise: spicy, powdery, aquatic, fresh, floral, etc. But perhaps this all led to something that was so convoluted that it became too much (for me).

I'm beginning to think that the culprit is Wisteria-- this was a prominent note in another perfume that I also ended up giving away after the first spray.

Combine it with strong accords like Orchid, Mandarin Orange, and Plum, and the whole mishmash can be overwhelming. By the time you add Musk and Sandalwood...well. It's rich, but as I said, convoluted.

I held on to this fragrance for more than a year, just so I could try it in different climates and even travelled abroad with it to a tropical climate.

NOPE. I ended up washing it off and wearing something else.

I do not recommend blind-buying this fragrance, and certainly not for someone else, unless you know for sure that the person loves all the notes.

I own several Arden fragrances and have decided not to purchase any more from this line. My favorites come from the 5th Avenue and Green Tea line, and I discovered after several purchases that they all started to smell the same.

Time to give Arden a break and come back to her line in the future when I can appreciate her selections more.

Bottom line: do NOT blind-buy Mediterranean. Make sure you purchase it from somewhere that allows you to test it first, or at least provides minis/samples that you can use for some days.

UPDATE

I wrote the above review in September 2017. It's now December 2018.

I gave this perfume to my sister and she absolutely LOVED it. So much that I ended up buying her a larger flanker since it was on clearance and it probably didn't even last a month before she said she was running out. I thought she was talking about the smaller flanker, only for her to say she was almost out of the 100 ml flanker.

That happens when you use it every day.

She received tonnes of compliments with a majority of women (and some men) asking what she was wearing so they could buy it.

I'm so glad she loved it as I had considered giving it to someone else, so if I find it again, I'll buy it for her.

Fragrantnatic

Very aquatic fragrance with plum undertones. Its quite sharp mind you, so initial spray could be somewhat overwhelming. Not really bad but not outstanding either. Good summer scent and best suited to the late 20s woman in my opinion. I still wouldn't go for the big bottle though..

melange

Wet, leafy scent, quickly turning to warm and cloying, then cheap-ish base. It kind of reminds me of a wannabe cosmopolitan woman, who buys large shades and a hat and books a cheap flight to Paris. I quite like the image, though, but wouldn't consider buying the bottle. Definitely a spring/ autumn scent rather than a summer scent, which I'm after.

Jasmine2024

Unbelievably beautiful the name is perfect, draws more compliments than any other perfume i own:) makes me happy!

smile4sharyn

This is my go to spring /summer fragrance.
I love it! It was love at first sniff for me .
Perfect for those hot summer days here in Australia
I bought my daughter a bottle for her birthday after she smelt my bottle and fell in love with it too
I can defiantly smell the plum.
A lovely refreshing fruity floral
Its not too over powering and light
On my skin I get probably 4/5 hours wear before topping up
I'm onto my second bottle after discovering it last year

orangepekoe

At first it comes out sweet/lemony then it develops into a pink bubble gum scent then the sweet wisteria and orchid emerges. I love it. I smell it through my sweater on my arm and it's fresh and sweet at the same time. Perfect all year round.

santiniansia

This was a blind buy as somebody had apparently walked off with the tester. It was half-priced and I've read that it might get discontinued soon so I thought why not. I regret it already. I love powdery scents, but it has none of that on me. It smells like strong lemon juice. All I smell are citrus and magnolia. Yes, it's also dry. It's disappointing.

Update: Finding a bit of relief now as the gentle musky base note is starting to come out from under the repulsively strong citrus-magnolia combo. If I'm ever going to use this next time, I would do so very sparingly.

Gwenz

Hmm, have used up the last of the little 5ml tester I had today. A pleasant enough scent, but after a few days wearing it I just found it a little .. I guess, boring would be the word, I'm ready to go onto something else. I don't dislike it, but....won't bother to replace it. Pleasant, soft, a bit musky, a bit sweet, a bit aquatic, but I can't go past my lovely aldehydes for wearing in the summer heat, and this is too soft for cooler weather.

LePrincess

I live right across from the ocean in Western Australia in a region which has Mediterranean weather (Margaret River) as it's all blue beaches and vineyards here. This perfume does smell familar to me as I do recognise some of the notes, but it lacks that real freshness with peppery notes like when my skin becomes salty from the ocean air. It smells more like a resort swimming pool area with wooden seating, sickly cocktails and chlorine. Not that fresh, beautiful ocean air which is Mediterranean.

Lady Tessa

Bought this one looking for a fresh, summery fragrance for a nice price. Hoping it would be cool and refreshing for those hot humid days. And it is a lovely fragrance that I think works well in the summer. However, it is very light and powdery and aquatic. Which I appreciate, but I don't generally gravitate towards. I am a newbie with the fragrances and am still building my wardrobe and experimenting with different genres trying to find something that is both "me" and yet with enough variety that I have options for different moods, events and seasons. I find summer to be difficult for me to find enough fragrances for me to get excited about. So while I don't rave about this one, it is lovely and works well in the summer. I get moderate sillage and longevity and it is inoffensive for working in an office. I may get about 5 hours on my skin. I would recommend it as an affordable summer option because I do think everyone can use a lovely aquatic fragrance, but not sure if this is my summer love.

Sailor Pluto

@polkadot27 - I know what you mean. I find that the notes are all choked in this linear dry smell. As if you put a box of froot loops in the freezer and put your nose in there and take a big whiff!

polkadot27

@dorothea333- I am glad I am not the only one & Yeah it is the creaminess that sets it apart from other florals- it would be a loss if it were discontinued as it is definitely unique, but most discontinued scents are always available on ebay so not all will be lost :)

dorothea333

@polkadot
It is creamy to me also, but I love it.
Luckily I don't really get any powder, and not any citrus either.
Just gorgeous creamy flowers :-)

I love this perfume, and I find it sadly underestimated.
The rumors of it being discontinued, worries me a great deal, only good thing is, that it is possible to stock up for years without breaking the bank.

polkadot27

I own this- a huge 100ml of it- and it is dry and powdery like Sand in a hot climate. The opening when you first spray is overbearing but it settles nicely into a clean musky powdery skin scent. It is rather safe and non offensive to passing people smelling it on you. But I find I get sick of this one very quickly. I wore it for work for about 12 days in a row and I've had enough of it and Haven't opted for it for about 2 months now. The musky powder is a little cloying and after a while you just need something lighter and fresher and more zingy. This is very dry feeling perfume. I do detect floral with this but the floral smells somewhat creamy floral rather than fresh thanks to the overwhelming powdery musk. I don't really know how to describe it- does anyone else get a creamy floral scent or is it just my skin chemistry? It is nice I do like the fact the dryness of the musk gives the floral notes a creamy scent. But for me, It is one I like in small doses- It could never be my signature as it does my head in after wearing it repeatedly for a couple of days. I often need a break from it and find it cloying after a while. Like, I will smell it and just think Uhh No I cant face this one today. It is cloying musky and powdery which gives the floral in it a creaminess. Clean smelling but more in soapy talc sort of way rather than fresh.

I would never describe this as citrus- there is nothing citrus about this scent to me. When I think of citrus I think fresh zingy. I get none of that from this, quite the opposite infact. It does have fruity undertones though, but it is not fresh fruit more like the faded smell of orange peel.

kateridelisle

I prefer the body lotion. Lemony powder with a hint of vanilla. Fresh and warm like Italia!

Taliera

Not a fan. This does not smell like the Mediterranean, or at least what I think the Mediterranean should smell like. I wanted something salty and fresh - instead I get fruity and musky. The opening is awful. Way too synthetic. Very harsh on the nose. And it's a really cloying sort of musk.

Southern Blonde

This is a gorgeous floral fragrance that actually wears better right now in the summer. I would classify it as mature, but that doesn't make it any less amazing. It reminds me of a more full bodied version of one of the Elizabeth Taylors like Violet Eyes. The peach and mandarin fruit gives it a sweet summery freshness. The magnolia scent is strong on me because this perfume must know I love magnolia. It's definitely a magnolia but it's joined by a vanilla orchid. The dry down is a tad woodsy with sandalwood. This is really easy to wear for a mature floral-fruity. It has the right amount of projection, sillage and longevity. I am loving it. I recommend this to fans of fruity florals peach florals magnolia and orchid fans and if you want something to wear for summer florals.

Black Secret

Such a beautiful, dreamy, soft, fresh, sea-breezy fruity, florally, heavenly, comforting and re-vitalizing perfume. Very fresh, and warm and cool at the same time. Sparkling. Does definitely make one think 'mediterranean', relaxing, chilling out. Glorious perfection. Intoxicating! And fabulous bottle - such a mediterranean colour! So soothing! Beautiful in every way!

blue angelic

Mediterranean is definitely one beautiful perfume, and one of my very favourites. It's sooo pleasant and enchanting. My husband loves it too, and he finds a lot of scents difficult. It's an incredibly soothing and comfortable perfume that lasts very well on me, and has absolutely nothing harsh or jarring in it. Very lovely! Very soft florals and fruit, and comforting base notes. Gorgeous. And the BEAUTIFUL COLOUR!! The most wonderful sea blue! Exquisite!!

mmm777pisces

Oh my God - I LOVE this beautiful fresh, truly mediterranean-feeling, florally, gently-sweet, delicious perfume! It's really gorgeous. I've had it on for 12 hours, and it is still fresh and as strong as it began. I can smell it all the time, and it's so uplifting! I get gorgeous strong wafts of the various scents, suddenly and un-expectedly. I can smell every ingredient at different times. It might be my very favourite perfume!!! And the colour and shape of the bottle is fabulous! It looks so good, and is lovely to hold, and the perfume is divine! It's a perfume just perfect for a pisces altogether!

Sailor Pluto

It is tame, sweet plum and does not last very long. However, I am not disappointed in my blind buy, but simply because it was very cheap. This indeed is not an aquatic scent, it is a fruity floral that does not remind me of anything Mediterranean. It smells a little bit like froot loops!

shannonny

No bueno blind buy at TJM. :(

It is a cute little bottle--looks like a knock-off of Aquawoman by Rochas...but, oh, so out of that league...I didn't care for Aquawoman, but I respected its broad-shouldered androgynous grace. Mediterranean? I can't even respect it.

I used to roll my eyes at the F. reviewers who'd go on about "synthetics" and "scrubbers" and "headache-inducers"...well, I've finally found my match. The top notes are nice enough, and had me fooled for a minute, but the dry-down smells like Fruit Stripe gum or orange air freshener. Really gross. Sad and yucky. Big fail, for me.

felicite34

I really like this fragrance. Bought it at TJX for cheap. I will be buying more, although I suspect it is being discontinued because I got it on close out there(?). Longetivity is great after 12 hours I still smell on my skin. I can wear to work. Would make a nice summer scent. Some Aquatic and some fruit, but not over the top in either.

SuzanneEnnazus1

This wasn't on my list of perfumes to buy, but the name and bottle attracted me a few months ago in the shop, so I tried it on and found it very fresh and pleasant. I thought about buying then but wasn't completely sure if to. I tried on another time but resisted temptation again to buy, only because it wasn't one I had planned to buy, and it came as a surprise to discover it.
Then I ran out of perfume and wanted something for when I would have a long day trip, to keep me feeling refreshed, and knew Elizabeth Arden, Mediterranean would be the right one to get.
It's very citrusy, fruity, with hints of floral but not too sweet, and smells better the longer I have it on. It smells sophisticated to me.

laura.linger.3

Lemon, vanilla, and sunshine in a bottle. And that bottle is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. A favorite of mine since 2007.

matillyrose

This is a beautiful scent with a gorgeous name, unfortunately the Mediterranean it is not.

My vision while I follow the trail of perfume up my arm is diving into a tropical, aqua pool of water.

First there is the salt, followed by the clear purity of water and then nothing.

But...as I approach the edge of the pool the fragrance of the surrounding flora teases my nose with promises of slow walks through fragrant wooded trees a mix of tropical, citrus and cool green shade.

Makes me want to go to the beach, I need a holiday.

noodlenicky

I am drawn to woody floral musks (Gucci Rush 2 is my absolute favourite, sadly hard to find now); I bought this on a bit of a whim after a good sniff on a hot day. It was delicious and I was taken by the name and the bottle, but as soon as I bought it I started regretting it a bit. I have to be extra careful to apply it quite far from my nose, as it gets heavy, then I feel nauseous and get a headache :/ so just a slight dab on the wrists perfume... I've only worn it in summer, so maybe it's better in winter when you need to be reminded that summer will come back?

Just a side note for other people sensitive to noise, light and smell: I'm quite sensitive to all these and very fussy about smells; many things get too 'much' for me eventually or even immediately, like Dior Addict (gift, gave away), EA Green Tea (bought and loved almost the whole bottle), Hugo Boss Deep Red (gift, gave it away).... I don't like anything that smells of incense, which my skin does to a lot of perfumes :/

emmarion

Very nice for a cheapie. Fresh and easy to wear, with a bit of unexpected depth from the musk and sandalwood. I've got a big bottle and will happily drown myself in the stuff without fear of running out of something precious. Longevity is very poor on my skin though. It disappears quickly, which is a shame.

GeorgiaMoxie

This isn't sweet on me at all, in fact the notes surprised me when I looked them up. It's sunny in a sense that it smells like it's hot outside and somehow has an oily grassy nuance to it like olive trees? I can see the reference to breads...like the kind with the seeds all in it.

That's the thing about "orchid" and "musk", they are lab created and can be used to give a fragrance a specific something that they can be ambiguous about. It really does smell unique. I really like it but I don't like it on me. I would love for my whole house to smell like this in the summer!

Swamp Lily

I was expecting something fresh and aquatic but this isn't the Mediterranean Sea, it is Mediterranean sweet breads*, cafes and laneways with the occasional waft of warm salty breeze. I'm not a fan of Elizabeth Arden fragrances but thought Mediterranean was worth a try if only because it was discounted and comes in a pretty bottle. I really enjoy this light woody spiciness that is almost a soft oriental and easily a daytime scent without the fruity over abundant sweetness that so many newer fragrances offer these days. I just don't think it suits a blue bottle.

*PS Edit: I mean sweet breads like panettone and brioche .... not offal.. ;)

ScarlettX

Spicy, musky and smoky. At some point it smelled like cigarette smoke. A weird one. I also sense some plum, sandalwood and amber.
I guess, all of those notes togheter give an odd composition.
I wouldn't wear it, too dusty and old-smelling for me.

nettoyant

The Mediterranean coloured bottle and box designs are true to the scent.  I'm having a super hard time finding the fruit or amber, it is musky on the drydown and I do sense wisteria but there is definitely salt and/or "water" aka helional but only a bit.  It's not boring or generic at all.  It is indeed lovely, airy, a tad spicy, floral, aquatic and fresh. I find many aquatics sharp or overly citrusy, this one is unique with sweet and musky drydown. One of the best aquatic scents for women, straight up.

rhaineclayton

This one is a difficult one for me. Sometimes I smell it on other women and it smells incredible. Then I go test it and it smells average or even awful! Other times I test it and it smells amazing again. Must be a hormonal thing. But I bought it anyway because it was on sale for $19 for 100ml and I had a $5 discount voucher - so $14! There's a slight citrus in the opening then I get the wisteria. I wish I'd picked up the pink one when it was out and on special though - I think it's a little bit nicer.

kyl77

I received a free miniature of Mediterranean, which came in the prettiest bottle ever. I really wanted to love it just for the bottle alone. Unfortunately, it didn't work on me. All I got was a harsh generic floral scent like the air freshners you put in cars. I ended up giving it away.

passiveintensity

This perfume is lovely. Spicy at first but not overbearing. Like it lots. As it is perfect to wear during the day.

Vegas Pauli

Heavy sweet and fruity, but strangely aquatic at the same time. This one has a lot going on. The electric blue bottle truly represents what this smells like. Super strong and not for everyone, but I think it smells good.
One a side note I found the body cream for $3 on clearance at Marshalls. Crazy cheap for a big heavy glass jar of the stuff. I gave it to a friends mom and she went ape sh*t over it, its all she talks about. Every time I see her she brings it up like its some magic potion. Sadly the cream is discontinued and impossible to find. I keep looking for her, she loves it so much...

nadia.pete1428

I just received EA Mediterranean in mail. It smells light & yummy. It's good for summer scent. I like it a lot.

Tesister

My mother gave it to me for my birthday. I can wear it though its a boring scent to wear..nothing excited me about it...or attracts me.

LadyPilot

If there is anything Mediterranean in this perfume, it's the colour of the bottle and the name. And the relatively intense sweet tangerine note. The rest is slightly cloying, probably because of the plum which is rather a Baltic and not Mediterranean area fruit. I expected something light, aquatic, ozonic, sunny and simply fresh - as is the air on the Mediterranean sea - and this not quite this type of stuff. Nice, fresh, non-disturbing but not a ground-breaker. And the longevity and silage are poor. Perhaps it will work better in hot weather. Maybe under a different name it would be more appealing? Here you're expecting something aquatic which you eventually never get. I feel as if somebody confused juices and bottles with names, but with what?! This I haven't figured out yet:(

Bublegum

I think this is one of the best Elizabeth Arden's fragrances I have smelled (well maybe I don't have a very typical taste since my favorite of her is Sunflowers but whatever). But, for me both the name and the colour of the bottle were kind of misleading. I was expecting for a lighter perfume (kind of like Light Blue or Cool Water). Maybe the blue is misleading after all. No, Mediterranean is not a light perfume and to be honest, I don't see me wearing it on a spring or summer morning. It fits better for evening and even a fall morning. And I don't perceive it as an aquatic fragrance. I can get why some people in the reviews said that they got headaches. It is kind of an overwhelming fragrance. The combination of musk, wisteria and plum is very spot-on.

pixiewinks

One of my favorites. Takes me somewhere beachy and breezy. Light, aquatic, floral, has soft heart notes. A no brainer as an every day wear perfume because it's light and non-offensive.

Yosa

I received a bottle of Mediterranean from my mom, who'd bought it as a blind buy.

The bottle and the package are beautiful - they truly reflect Mediterranean!

But that's where the positives end for me.

The fragrance makes me sneeze. Not sure what it is exactly, but there's something in it that puts me on a sneezing frenzy.

The scent itself is good quality, but I feel it's not a very young scent. Without meaning to classify, it's not for girls or young women in my opinion. It's for more mature women, I'd say 50 and up? (Not that fragrances should have an age limit!)

Mediterranean is definitely a summer fragrance, something that doesn't demand a special occasion. It's an easy going fragrance.

The smell itself is slightly difficult to describe. There is a dominating note in it, which could be Wisteria? Other than that I don't detect any mandarin in it, nor other individual notes. It's all floral, in a breezy way.

Regardless of my not-so-excited review of Mediterranean, it's not a bad fragrance! It just didn't work for me, but surely it can be really good for someone else!

UPDATE: I gave the bottle as a gift to my neighbor, an older lady, and she LOVED it! Absolutely loved it.

ismellsogood

What a beautiful bottle- so pretty my favourite colour turquoise and the scent inside is just wonderful I adore it . Honestly it's sweet, pretty, fresh aquatic. Just before I sprayed it - I closed my eyes and imagined the Aegean Village I visited on a Greek Island I went to years ago and hoped the perfume would match what my idea of the Meditteranean would be. They have done a brilliant job, It does remind me of blue skies, blue seas and holiday, summer fun. I do not find this scent overly musky I smell sweet pretty florals and aquatic freshness. I really was surprised and happy with this lovely perfume. Will always buy- smells good and long lasting.
Water, Air, blue seas, fresh, clean, sweet, luxurious... I just looooove it.

Sashira

I bought this without smelling it first, expecting something vaguely aquatic and citrusy, and that was a mistake. It is a rather over-powering scent, very powdery and sweetly floral. Seems to last a good while, which for me is a drawback because it gives me a bit of a headache after awhile, it's a little cloying. My mother and grandmother seem to like it though, so I don't think it's a bad scent, the name Mediterranean may just be misleading.

ialwayssmellgood

I love this stuff! The florals stand out way more than the citrus does. It has great lasting power and smells heavenly with great projection as well. Does turn a bit powdery, but it seems to enhance the smell of the plum and wisteria. I had been going back and forth for months on whether or not to blind buy this, and I am so happy I did!!!

polkadot27

This is a sweet/citrus musky scent that starts off strong and rather sharp and becomes powdery. Even when it becomes powdery it's still very strong though, people always ask what I'm wearing, even after 6 hours of spraying it. The lasting power of this one is brilliant. If you like musk and you like powdery scents- this will be ideal for you. The whole Mediterranean name, hmm yeah, i don't understand why it was named that it, it isn't aquatic or marine or ozonic in the slightest. Maybe it's named this because it has a dry sandy hazy feel to it-who knows.

Sweelty

To me it smells like Juicy Couture La La

armacoonsum

This was a half-blind buy... I had tested it before, long ago, *then* bought, years later, unsniffed, based on reviews on (ahem) another site. The years-ago sniff, I remember being aquatic, yes, but also juicy, and possessing that elusive "fresh air" quality I crave. This time, though... I got a solid, thick, spicy wall of very masculine, sandalwood-laden men's deodorant. I let it "dry down". I repeated again, for days and days... the result was always the same. So sad, that an Aquarian girl would find herself so often at odds with "aquatic" fragrances. (Aquarius is an air sign... hence the obsession with "fresh air" scents? Is there such a thing?)

beatrix75

it is a super nice summer frag but actualy its for anycase almoust you can wear like signature scent too ! Its creamy fruit flower smell after the first big opening become gorgeous creamy apricot plum levendel and mosk smelling frag i like a lot sophisicated good quality good price

angelair

Kinda disappointed at this one. I was so excited to get this one because of the composition but sadly when first sprayed on my skin it smelled a bit like an old gym bag. Then the scent almost totally dissipates to nothing. I guess that's better than staying with the first scent though.

perfumeaddiction

This is a really great summer scent. It's light yet there is a kick to it that continues to gently tickle your nose from time to time. I sprayed a few hours ago and can still smell strongly on my arm. I got this for a song and I really am happy to have purchased it. I will be wearing it in the spring/summer to replace some of my heavier winter time scents. It's floral but as the other poster mentioned there seems to be a gentle musk kick which I love as I dislike straight up florals. Anyhow I would highly suggest this number for the upcoming summer months. I would call this a very safe bet - non intrusive, subtle yet sexy.

odie

Wow, I read so many reviews about a 'floral' overtone but to me this is so spicy/musky with a fruity twist on my sister. She owns one and when I smell it on her its so warm spicy, just like a Mediterranean breeze, perfume has so much to do with body chemistry!!!!! Its a unique fragrance from the perfume wardrobe of Elizabeth Arden.

Pooja37

Just got my bottle a few hours ago and it is a wonderful floral - light but distinctive. While the blue bottle really is gorgeous, the fragrance that wafts up to my nose is distinctly purple, for some reason!

Perhaps it is the wisteria because I can't really smell the plum or the mandarin for that matter. What I get is the lovely delicate haze of summer blooms.

Personally I don't see much resemblance to davidoff's cool water, as mentioned by other reviewers but that's probably my skin chemistry or the weather (It is about 24 degrees celsius over here.)

If you like the smell of wisteria you will enjoy this. This is the first perfume in my collection with a strong wisteria note and I am happy to welcome this beauty in to my collection.

Update: A friend of mine came over and applied this liberally like a cologne and that resulted in her making a dash to the powder room to scrub it off. I have to admit that it was cloying and smelt terrible on her. Made me realize that this is quite strong and I thanked my lucky stars that I use a gentle hand while applying most perfumes. Applying this very lightly on one or two pulse points will leave you smiling and smelling good for hours!

Tine1world

Elizabth Arden's 'Mediterrean' Is like a fresh Mediterrean breeze, soft and aquatic with a hint of fruity blossoms. Perfect for the Australian summer. I find the bottle awkward as so the packaging and the cap a little complicated especially without my glassies on. But it is lovely to look at. It's ually about 20 Aussie smacka's a 100 mill bottle here. EDP., it is also very different to Elizabeth Arden's other fragrances.

I have not jotted down a lot about this fragrance in my fragrance note pad, so I may have to return with a more detailed review at some later stage.

I find this fragrance to be unobtrusive and quite pleasing to my senses when I wear this. It's last a little less than some other EA's fragrances, but that's okay I as I consider this to be a summer frarance anyway.

Cheers T.

cherry_lips

This was a very nice surprise! Light fruity scent, suitable for spring and summer. It is not very lasting, but reapplying will do the job:)

lirael00

My mum bought this one, because she said that to her it smells like a lighter cheaper version of Pure poison. So from time to time I stole the bottle and sprayed it on myself and I really liked the opening of this perfume, cause it's strong and invinting in a really good way of course. Even though a lot of things indicate that this should be a summer beachy fragrance, for me it works in winter too. Lasting power is not great which is a big minus for me, cause I love perfumes who jus last and last....So, the start is great (2 hours) but then it slowly fades away so it never really manage to develope a story.

Erikafika

I smelt in a magazine and loved it I thought, but now that I've used it i've concluded it doesn't work for me. I think it's too musky on my skin, but i'm not sure...

eau de nath

My Mom have this. You can really smell the floral notes here and a bit of fruits to make it sweet(but it's not too sweet). A great frag that resembles like relaxing in a beach resort at Greece. I love this for women 25 and older. I really love this, reminds me of the sun's reflection at the sea under a hot afternoon. There's something I can't explain because of its greatness!

brandiwine1980

Oh to me nothing like Coolwater which to me is slightly masculine and very citrusy. This is more sweet floral and feminine and yes really isn't very beachy or aquatic so the name and bottle are misleading, but who cares. Beautiful scent.

brandiwine1980

I honestly am surprised at so much negative feedback. Must be chemistry or poor quality bottles, I don't know. I got this little beauty for $7 at Marshalls and I am impressed. The box is cute and the blue bottle is gorgeous. Funny though I get more of a purple vibe when I wear this. Must be the plum and wisteria which dominate. I get some peach and musk, but not much else in base notes which is fine because the florals and fruits are so pretty. I get pretty good sillage for a fruits floral and lasts at least 7 hours on my skin. And most fumes do not last on my fair, dry skin. Very pleased.

SolangeN

Faint, bland, creamy fruitish floral on top of a hard candy base note. The lotion smells like old fashioned cold cream or an old-time Avon product. Not in a bad way, just nondescript. The EDP dries down to pure sugar on me.

If I tested this blind, I would assume it was a Britney Spears "eau legere" d'something sugary flanker.

Evokes nothing of the Mediterranean.

Initially wanted to project "seawater" or "beach" notes that just aren't there. There's no coastal breeze. No herbs. No lavender. No citrus. It's a cheap sugarfruit floral bottom-loaded with chemical "cashmere" woods.

Seems like a real waste of the name and bottle. Way overpriced for the quality - it belongs in a drugstore.

sandrajj

Took this along on a cruise 2 years ago--to guess where??--yes, the Med. Flew into Barcelona, spent a wonderful week there, met the ship, and went to southern Spain, Gibralter, Canary Islands, Madeira, etc., then transAtlantic back to Florida. All the time, this fragrance was the only one I wore. Since then, I've traveled many places all over the world, but when I want to return to that particular cruise and place in time, a few spritzes of Mediterranean, and I'm instantly there. This is a lovely, clean, sea-fresh fragrance, long lasting, and I get so many compliments when I wear it!!!

nkariem

I received this as part of a gift and initially thought of it as a summery fresh perfume, but the more I wore it the more it smelled warm on me. On me, it's definitely more floral and warm than fresh. So I tend To prefer this in the autumn and winter more. It's an easy perfume to wear, something you can wear in the daytime even to work. It's not overpowering at all. Not my favourite, but it is nice.

perfumejunkie75

I have had this forever, again, don't remember how I got it. Didn't purchase for myself. Just sprayed it this morning so I could test it. I agree it smells alot like Cool Water. Not horrible, but not what I'm into right now. It's crisp and fresh, but nothing really exciting about it. It's just a fresh smell. Nothing I would remember or ask someone what they were wearing if I smelled it on them. On the fence about keeping it. The bottle is almost full of a 3.3oz. Don't see myself using much at all. It is a gorgeous blue color, though. Wouldn't buy it for myself or as a gift.

scha

My 3rd bottle and my second signature perfume. The chemistry between this perfume and my skin is off the charts, even though I live in a humid country! It smells more musky/woody on me. Totally transports me to a Greek island or an opulent Arabian palace somewhere.. One of the best Elizabeth Arden perfume, I must say!

PS: Very similar to Narciso Rodriguez For Her :)

NMWS76

On my skin, this is just a strong salt water and not good. It's right for some other woman but not for women like me whose skin prefers warmer and sweeter. My skin usually likes strong fragrances but not this one.

Lara517

JUST bought this at a discount department store for an outrageously inexpensive price. But, it's horrible, no wonder they were giving it away!
Wisteria is the ONLY note I can detect. It's very simple, but can't pull it off at all.
A scrubber for this girl!

Mistress Eva

I have some slightly mixed feelings about this one. There is nothing I dislike about it, but neither do I ever really feel like wearing it. I've owned it for about 2 years now (a 1 oz bottle that I still haven't gone through) and I think I finally figured out what bothers me about it. Mediterranean is olfactoraly very "oval-shaped". The top notes are weak, the heart is robust, and the base is all but non-existent. For the volume of the middle notes, it seems as though there should be a stronger foundation carrying it. I wish it were more complex, as the simplicity here doesn't seem to work as it does for some others. Instead of settling down to a musk or sandalwood base, it peters out and disappears in a bit of a lack-luster way.
Mediterranean is easy to like, but doesn't have much of a "wow" factor. When my bottle is finally gone, this scent will be easily forgotten.

sarage

This was a big disappointment to me some years ago. I bought it without testing, because of the beautiful name and bottle. I thought it cannot go wrong.
I did wear it, I tried to like it but ended up admitting it is way too sweet, almost cloying.
The only Mediterranean in this is the name and the bottle.
I am not sure which elements make this unbeareable to me, maybe wisteria, plum and magnolia all together? It lacks of the freshness of sea air and the green elements I connect to a Mediterranean scent.
Very long lasting on my skin.
I advice to test before buying because it doesn't smell like the image it creates.

Tara_Dan

This is an old favourite. It starts off with a mix of fruit and flower (to my nose it smells more like fruit, but in slightly colder weather the flower becomes more distinct). I didn’t know which flower this was till I checked fragrantica, and since I haven’t smelled wisteria in its real form, I’m not able to identify it as a separate note, and I assume the flowery strain is wisteria.

The plum and peach are strong, and though I can’t tell most of the other notes, they give this fragrance a complexity and yummy-ness I can’t get over. Often, when I use this, I think how I would love to dig into cake that smells this way! But it’s not gourmand at all. Just yummy.

What’s particularly delicious is the sandalwood, which is detectable to start with, but becomes very pronounced in the drydown. There’s this soft, lingering, woody sweetness that sits close to the skin after 2-3 hours of wearing Medi, and once it gets to this stage, it lasts surprisingly long, for a good 7 hours I’d say. By this time of course, I’m the only one who can smell it. Since I’ve come to like woody fragrances very much, I appreciate this perfume even more now than in the past.

For a long time, I thought the sillage was good, but I’m not too sure now. It could be that my bottle is more than 3 years old, so perhaps it’s not so effective any more. I’d say Medi’s appropriate for all ages, and I’m sure I’ll get another bottle once this one’s over. Like I said, an old favourite.

HeidiLynn

I am still kind of on the fence for this one, pleasant but generic. The wysteria is lovely and unique, but it does fade a bit fast.

If it weren't for the bottle, this would have gone into the swap-pile. The blue is an absolutely gorgeous shade of turquoise, almost an indigo-teal color. Blue is my favorite color, and this is a beautiful shade of blue...so I keep it.

Raggagirl1

This is lovely and gentle, definitely for those people who get headaches with perfume this dosent do that and it hasits a gentle smell. good longevity wich I was surprised about considering how gentle it is. Nice : )

woodlandwalk

I think this would be a perfect scent to wear if you wanted to be an under cover spy. No-one would remember you - there'd just be this vague sense of generic familiarity.

I think its covert sexual message reads something like this:

'I won't challenge or confront you, I have no passions and seek to cause no ripples in the passive pond of my life - I won't run off with a lion tamer or anything like that, so sit back, and feel complacent'.

Tusekile

I sprayed the perfume on saturday woow it was so nice and the guy sitting next to me was like i was attracting him with the scent of my perfume... i get alot of compliments from people...but then it doesnt last long thats the only problem...

pierson

I do like this, very much. I'm not generally one for fruity-floral; to me, they seem far too strong, too sweet. I don't want to say juvenile, but possibly too "young" for me. However, this seems a more mature fruity-floral, less sweet on my skin than others I've tried.

The transitions are smooth and lovely. Fruit at the beginning, more peach-plum for me than citrus, and after a while, florals (I can't differentiate them) slip into the starring role. None of these notes are noisy, shouting for attention, but subtle and gently sweet. Nothing headache-inducing, thank goodness.

In the third hour or so the amber and sandalwood come to the forefront and this phase is really gorgeous. By this time it's very close to the skin. I wish the projection was a little better, but that's my only real complaint.

I get no sense of the Mediterranean, but more of a sunny garden. Definitely not aquatic or beachy in spite of the name or the wonderful blue of the bottle. It feels fresh and summery, sunny without the oppressive heat. Light, pretty, feminine and I can't imagine anyone finding it oppressive to be around. An ideal summer perfume (though I will have to see how it behaves in my horrible, humid, high temperatures). A definite thumbs-up to this scent.

Museumgal

This has a fruity milky quality to it, and the florals are well blended and its all grounded in a nice musk base. It's a good alternative to aquatics -- light and fresh without any sharp masculine water notes. Really great for summer! No one note overwhelms any of the others, it's a very balanced composition. Good for day time casual use.

pipergirl

I get a bit of a blue Kool-Aid type scent upon the initial spray, but soon the sweet, breezy, clean, fruity florals start to develop along with the creamy sandalwood. Feels quite beachy. A nice light find for the summer!

amanda.gggggg

Don't like it. Smells soapy and cheap

TruthserumX

Love putting this on right when I get out the shower it's like the freshness just goes on and on. I agree this is more than likely a spring or summer scent, however, when you want to feel perky in the winter put this on. The longevity could be better, but I get a lot of compliments on it. I really enjoy the scent.

Maathir

Fresh and elegant works very well with my chemistry

BettyNoir

Well it's nice but I put it on 40 minutes ago and it's completely gone. I want a perfume to stick around for a bit! Lovely packaging though.

mamazonga16

for me it is too light, powdery, aquatic, a little sweet but does not last and you cannot know that it is there no impact. It is nice but too light, too soft smell.

Petals_and_Perfumes

Found the 1 oz (30 mL) eau de parfum spray at Ross for $6.99 and bought it based on the reviews here as it sounded like a fragrance I'd fall in love with. Your descriptions did not disappoint - this was the only bottle left on the shelf; I'm going back to look for more!

I just love the top, middle, and base notes. On my skin, what really comes through first is a powdery light scent. I then get a whiff of crisp floral. The dry-down is really nice with creamy clean sandlewood scent. It truly makes me feel quite sexy. If you are looking for a fragrance that has no cloying, heavy Oriental notes to it, this one is for you. I'm actually surprised "musk" is mentioned as part of the dry-down. On my skin I can detect none of it which is a good thing - I despise musky perfumes. If it's there, it's balanced very well and may be what's adding to its pheramone-affect on my senses. I imagine wearing this with an ocean breeze lifting the bedroom curtains as the sun shines through... Just me and my husband enjoying this perfume on my skin! (22 January 2013)

maja314

It's winter here right now and I found myself in the drugstore going through the perfumes looking for a winterscent but then I sprayed some mediterranean on my wrist. This perfume transported me straigth to a sunny and hot day standing on the dunes, in the seabreeze, smelling the sea and sunscreenlotion of people down at the beach. The opening was fresh, citrus orangy and salty and also a little bit sweet. I restrained myself and did not buy it, but after arriving at home regretted it, a lot. Every time I moved my arm I kept on smelling this perfume and wished I was there at the beach! This is a comfortscent, because it evokes warm, happy feelings when you smell it, even more so when it's cold outside. So I just had to go back and buy it, and five minutes before closing time I bought this big bottle of 100ml for 10 euro. Needless to say I am really happy with this catch! As I never owned a perfume with wisteria in it, at first it put me off because it is very strong in the beginning and then it reminded me of sitting in my mom's garden in summer and all I could do was smile. Now after a couple of hours the perfume is getting softer with the floral and woodsy notes but the sunscreenlotion, salty seabreeze is still there. The first perfume I smelled with a salty note was Noa, did not like the note in that perfume too much but with mediterranean the whole perfumepicture is just right. And why is salty not listed as a note? Anyway tonight when I go to bed I will spray on some Mediterranean and dream of warm and sunny beachdays.

Edit: the longevity of this perfume is loooong, +12 hrs! What then remains of the fragrance is the peach, the salty seabreeze has gone by then. And I've been reading up on notes: "sea" should definitely be added as a note here.

thad4841

My two cents as a man: to my nose it seems like a fragrance that an older woman might like. Not sure how long this has been out, but it doesn't seem like a modern fragrance. It is clean, fresh, reminiscent of ocean breezes blowing through aromatic woods. But it also has an odd dark note which makes it totally unsexy, even a little severe.

avrilfan422

I love this perfume! It's beautiful and light, and feels really fresh. I've used it for a long time now so I must say I'm getting partly sick of it, but it's still a wonderful fragrance.

b@by

Beautiful breezy fragrance that suits its name. The bottle looks beautiful, and it being summer in Australia at the moment, it's very attractive whenever I see it. Another Elizabeth Arden success. Lasting power and silliage are a little disappointing.

Minnie80

totally suggest anyone considering this perfume to TEST FIRST, not all perfumes suit certain skin chemistry and this one literally made me feel ill to the point of nearly vomiting (that is saying something as I have a strong stomach) sorry to all who love it but its very wrong for me, I cannot understand why this is described as 'fresh' by others, this is far from it in my opinion, I describe it as overpowering wisteria powder and musk :( I wont even be giving this away in fear of the person who I give it to wearing it around me.

Minnie80

Uurrr ! I have just bought a 3ml sample. I really wanted to like this....but although I am reviewing waaay to early, and not giving it a chance, I really don't care for the initial peppery notes, it has turned me off immediately! now it is way too powdery and musky, both those notes do not suit me at all, but, I will leave it on and see how I feel later, maybe time will change my mind. sorry EA!

Zenobia274

On a warm summer day...it's luscious.

HeidiLynn

'ware those who dislike a floral musk that gives a soapy scent-- this one certainly falls into that category. I happen to enjoy it, especially since this is not a heady white floral nor is it an overbearing yellow floral. I may be smelling with my eyes, but this is a musky indigo floral. The wisteria, orchid and magnolia are there, like a fresh breeze in early spring. One year, we were fortunate to spend a week in Mallorca in April. There was the smell of the ocean, chilly mornings, dewy grass and the soft smell of early spring blooms--this fragrance captures that essence. Not the Mediterranean of deep summer ( tourists, booze, salt, sand and oppressive heat), this is the Mediterranean in spring.

Starts with those blue florals, soapy yet fresh. The plum is there with a light fuitiness. There is musk contributing to the soapiness, and the sandalwood gives depth without heaviness. This would be a nice, pleasant spring/summer scent for a casual event--inoffensive and clean. The 1 oz bottle I have is oval and heavy, nice to hold; the beaten silver cap is simple yet refined and the blue liquid is incredibly beautiful. The spray nozzle is generous, so be careful; this is one to err on the side of light application. For my $10 at Ross, this was a worthy blind buy.

iamjennyrobyn

It's too sweet and musky so when i use it (which is very seldom) i spray only once as the sweetness is too intoxicating.

Happy Spirit

I would love this perfume, but it's way too musky and doesn't smell at all like the bottle and the name suggest to me. If it was more aquatic, I would definitely buy it.

onlineallday

I don't think this is aquatic at all. It smells rather creamy/powdery floral. Very gentle and clean smelling indeed but no way it's cool aquatic like the Green Tea.

Batman2011

I want to like this perfume, and i cam very close to buying it. But there was something about the smell that held me back- it had too much of a floral/powdery aspect to it.
I was expecting more of an aquatic/fresh feel, but never got it and i was disapointed.
My boyfriend had a whiff of it and expressed GREAT dislike; "Smells gross and nana-like" <-- his words exactly.

LeggysMum

I have had a small bottle of this for a while, liked it, then forgot it.
After reading some reviews, I decided to revisit this scent...and am I so glad I did. Its just so lovely, and on my skin quite different to any other perfume I have tried (and that's not a small count, by any means)
Fresh, sweetish, but not cloying...just a light sweetness, mixed with a sharpness of citrus to cut through. It doesn't come off as fruity....like every other "gourmand" scent out there, although the fruits are discenible, nor floral, just a meld of fumes that smell at once fresh and innocent, yet womanly and not immature. I will be using this a lot in the coming summer months...could be another 'go to' frag for everyday use...its certainly not going to break the budget, but is a worthwhile spend. Do not make the same mistake as I had, dismissing this because its easily obtainable...I don't know anyone who wears it, and its sooooo affordable, available, and as a scent..its accessible.

perfumia

The first moments after spraying this smells vile, really sharp and so shocking that it knocked me backwards. Then it dried.

It smelled so lovely, I kept smelling it all day, by the time it came to go home I had to go back and buy it. It smells complex on my skin, layered, and ever changing.

My 4 year old child smelled it through out the day and said it had "changed colour" I kind of knew exactly what he meant.... it smells warm to me, and changed like the sun from high noon to sunset..... I love it.

callalotus

I just bought it again and love to have it back in my closet. The powerful and fresh smell makes me feel good. I got many compliment from my client / colleague that say i smell great and sexy.

xystizi

This came as a gift from hubby. Unfortunately, it's not my style. It's too powdery for my skin chemistry.

amidwestheart

I bought this one a few years ago while on the (obviously limited) hunt for a summer fragrance. Back then I loved it...I wore it all summer and the next few summers. I uncapped it recently to remind myself of its scent and was taken aback. The scent no longer made me happy. It wasn't that the fragrance had changed...I had changed. This fragrance will likely always bring back memories of summers past, but I will no longer be making new memories while wearing this.

callalotus

I had it & wore it everyday.. Want the breeze at first but not available at the store at that time. love how it smell and so does my bf...

amurka

Beautiful.Very light, happy, frutty. Surprisely, I never had as many compliments with other - much more expencive perfumes.
Good price for beautiful smell.

mhalo.sophia

i love it! i love it! its soooo clean. i smelled it the other day at a shop and i was completely in love with it. i asked my dad to buy it for me today...

StarMagix

I have had this one a long time and even though I do like it, I do not love it, nor do I ever wear it. I think actually I just like the color of the bottle and how adorable it is. I bought this in a set with a small glisten scented powder with cute powder puff and a tube of body cream along with a nice size bottle of fragrance. It reminds me very much of a man's aftershave like Aqua Velva or something like that. Perhaps this is why I cannot get myself to wear it. I keep it for the bottle and I do think it smells good, but it is just not the kind of fragrance I love to wear.

amy1983

First of all,I just love the bottle. It is the most beautiful shade of blue I have ever seen. It is the exact same color as the Mediteranean sea. It also has an attractive silver hammered cap. It is not an aquatic scent. It does have a sort of plastiky smell. It almost smells like it shouldn't even be a perfume. Oddly enough, that's what I like about it. It is so unique. I have never smelled anything like it. Anyway,I really like this. It is very uplifting.

mi-jo.sayegh

They are forecasting a very hot and humid summer in my city this year, so when I saw this at Winners (Canadian TJ Maxx) for 12$ , I figured what is there to lose. Most of my perfumes are heavy , even the ones I wear in summer, so I thought this might be good for taking my daughter to the park. It's nice, I love it, but I only love it because I now have something to wear that will not offend the other moms in the hot summer sun :)
I really only pick up plum, madarin and musk from this on my skin. I sprayed it an hour ago and walked home in the rain, it actually smells stronger now, strange because most reviews say it doesn't last long and usually even strong scents (like Obsession) fade on my skin. Maybe this is best worn in very humid conditions. I really like it for what it is, and must say I am pleasently surprised. Almost reminds me of a lighter, more grown up mix of Cool Water and Midnight Fantasy and now I finally have a perfume I am not scared to wear to playdates ;)
I just realized now that I am wearing this on top of Charlie Gold, I wonder if that is why it seems longer lasting (and smells pretty darn good , I am not usually one who likes layered perfumes)

tei

i bought it,wore it once and sold it for half the price to my friend who loved it.

PricklyAndHot

Fruity sourness, intensive flowery notes and amber sweetness make Mediterranean unusual enough.

Sicilian mandarin and Damask plum sourness is too noticeable. Peach Nectar Sorbet is noticeable, too, but not as much as the mandarin and the plum notes. And it really reminds more nectar than the typical peach note.

The most noticeable flowery note is wisteria. It's very intensive. I wouldn't say that I can detect the magnolia note clearly or the orchid note. Only maybe they make this fragrance more warm as a background.

The amber note is very noticeable. It makes the fragrance warm and sweet, but not too sweet. The sandalwood note is noticeable, but I wouldn't say that it's too heavy. And luckily I almost don't feel the musk note.

This fragrance seems too me warm, sour and sweet at the same time. The sourness really brings some freshness to this fragrance. Maybe that is why it seems a little bit unusual. The staying power is good enough. I don't know why, but my mom says that it smells soapy. I don't think so. I would that that it smells fruity sourness and flowery honey and a little bit candied sweetness.

Sometimes it seems to me a little bit annoying, but I can say for sure that it's not that kind of fragrance you can easily imagine just looking at the notes pyramid. And it's a plus for sure. Not genius, but interesting enough to like it.

caca102

This smell a lot like Estee Lauder's Pleasure on me-- they both turned into a soapy mess. It seems to work well with others but definitely not for me.

gracious

Mediterranean fragrance is a simple, does not compromise the wearer, but not impact, not surprising.
It´s just a nice floral market, was a disappoitment for me.
And, as Elizabeth Arden fragrances, has not lasted long.

angelle

I have had Mediterranean for a what seems ages now, I hardly wear it but having said that I call it my Job Interview fragrance. I have worn it at interviews for the last 4 positions I have successfully gotten. I find its just a non threatening or impressional fragrance, it just flows along with the day and it does not create a cloud of "fume" around the me. I would never wear some of the fragrances that I love as I fear they are overly strong or heavy in an interview situation. This is just one of those nice everyday fragrances that I feel comfortable, confident and accepted when I wear it.

balisong

this scent is such good value for the price. It smells lovey, very clean and fresh and i really love the box it came in, the blue hollograpic ocean type cardboard was ao pretty.

Very easy to wear

caramello-koala

I got given this for my birthday and i was not to keen on it, but not wanting to be rude i wear it. I get comments all the time and my family really like the scent on me even though i am not keen on it.
I wear it because others think it smells lovely on me.
It's not horrible i just don't think it matches my personality.

caffeine_junkee

My sister wears this and it smells charming on her. However, I am probably among the few here who, sadly enough, have an adverse physiological reaction to this! It's probably the potent combination of plum and peach in the top notes. Both are strongly fragrant fruits that I happen to appreciate. However, together they make a heady tandem [possibly] causing migraine. My suggestion: really take at least 15 mins to test whether you can 'weather' the top notes. This is not a light, airy, aquatic floral but rather a rich, creamy, and [dare I say] robust fruity-floral as others might also have noted. Imagine fruit salad drenched in highly viscous cream rather than in its own natural juices. If you can wear this without incident, I envy your good fortune because this is truly lovely.

LadyRogue

Fruity without being too sweet with a faint hint of flowers. Fresh and light. Perfect for a summer day. I wouldn't call this aquatic or Mediterranean. Since there are perfumes out there that really remind me of the Mediterranean: "Mediterranean Fig Pacifica", "Sicily" and the "Acqua Di Parma Blu Mediterraneo" range to name a few that really evoke the blue sea and flowers & fruits of the Mediterranean. I love the color of the bottle though, it's such a pretty blue. In Italy they call this Azzurro, which; you guessed it is the color of the Mediterranean sea.

kalravrkapadia

One of the best from Elizabeth ARden's stable, rich, creamy and stays forever....very classy

pomdgf

For me it's a nice fresh floral scent but not a beach or aqua scent. Everyday wear in summer it's ok but I can't imagine about beachy at all. If I go on vacasion to the island somewhere I'll choose Bali Dream or Light Blue and Sicily. These three scents so perfect. Just the bottle and it's name Mediterranean almost make me confuse.

Mooniq

I just love Mediterranean. Lately I have understood that I have become a Plum-fan. In this perfume I get Plum, Wisteria, Magnolia, Amber, Musk and a hint of Sandalwood. This is my number one scent for spring and summer. Keeps me very fresh for several hours. This scent is a allround-scent- I wear it at work and at party. No sharp or edgy notes at all. A keeper!

crunchymama25

This is a very balanced fragrance, and so easy to wear at virtually any time of the year. No handfulls of sand, syrupy bouquets of flowers, or citrus fights here. It's very like the first breeze that caresses you after your dip in the sea- fruity lip balm, sunscreen, and that natural smell of your skin, all tempered with the salt water and that perfumed breeze of plantlife and flowers. It's a very alive feeling to this fragrance for the first few hours that elegantly fades to a more subtle and powdery remembrance of the original. It works beautifully with my skin's chemistry, and it's a joy to smell how it unfolds throughout the day. Bravo, Elizabeth Arden!

LaUna

sultry beachy scent; it's like fragranced sand and sea perfume with hint of floral notes, citrus and soft musk.
About 4 hours longevity and even afterwards I get a whiff of it.
The scent is summer at the beach in a bottle:)

lindsayxsc

I happened to captured its scent a couple of years ago in a shopping mall, and the transient encounter had left me a pleasant memory. I finally purchased a mini size yesterday, and smelled it —— O, my, god! Where's the tender, delightful scent as in my memory?! All I got is something smelling like plastic, which is irritatingly disgusting...I had to endure that smell for like 15 minutes. Then I got the familiar scent that is light and pleasant, but it was so light that I almost could not catch it! I was once intrigued by it, but I never knew it was actually very light middle note after unbearable top note...That's definitely not my expectation

PalmSpringsTammy

KeLL Star- Yes, it is similar to Cool Water, but not nearly as strong. I like to wear this when I'm out running errands.

LEZ 7

Tried a sample of this because it is discounted at several places. Not for me at all.Very srong and the notes dont change through the time of wearing it.

cutebunny

I purchased the 100ml size last spring in extremely low price. This scent does not remind any other. To some extent it is rather original, but it lacks depth. It is just a cute fruity and floral (not very girly though) - nothing more and nothing less. However, the scent is not extremely light and aquatic even it was inspired by the mediterranean sea (what is very positive). The scent itself reminds me of pine tree forests in a bad way (...sickeningly sweet Wunderbaum pine tree car fresheners). The staying power of the scent is rather weak. I have to apply multiple times a day. Trust me, the real mediterranean does not smell like this.

The scent is pretty good for summer or early autumn for casual use. It is a happy scent, but not luxurious. It smells cheap. I love extremely feminine and dramatic scents, so it is not really my cup of tea. Definitely not for formal occasions or evening wear.

In my country 100ml Mediterranean usually costs nearly 100euros. 50ml in 70euros. However, it cannot compete majority of the scents in that price class and I think it is strongly overpriced. Not worth of the money. However, I am aware that abroad the scent is far cheaper.

I don't really find it very woody or musky. It just smells like soapy & sweet candied pine trees without the typical deeper musky and woody notes.

This is a very sweet and salty smelling perfume, but it is soft and powdery. It is not an aquatic as the blue bottle would make you think. It is a nice fruity floral that is perfect for summertime nights. For me, sometimes it is a little too fruity amd sweet. Still it is likable, but doesn't blow me over. It has average lasting power I would say. Not something I would wear every day but occasionally.

I smell most of the notes listed but not much musk. It's a little sweet yet soapy and very fresh once it dries down some and becomes a bit woody. To me, it's a very clean scent and I like to put it on right out of the shower...kind of reminds me of fresh laundry..maybe a dryer sheet.Very safe scent....not very unique but pleasant. I don't tend to gravitate towards florals but this one does not offend me in any way. The bottle is cute and I found this one discounted. On me, it lasts quite a while and stays pretty close to my skin. Worth a try in my opinion.

This was another of my blind ebay purchases. I bought it based on the write-ups and notes. I was looking for a light and pretty Summer perfume to replace my long gone - but never forgotten - bottle of (discontinued) Oceana, from The Body Shop. This isn't quite as strong on the opening notes but that's not a bad thing, Oceana did have a bit of a chemical punch. I wouldn't say this is my ideal perfume but I'm more a heavy perfume sort of person. I do like it though, it's warm, sweet, fruity, floral, fresh and pretty. It's a 'just showered', effortless to wear fragrance.

It helps that from the first spray, I'm instantly transported back to the Mediterranean (funnily enough!), lazing on a sunbed with a delicious warm, fragrant breeze... For me, this isn't about the perfume itself, it's about what it does for me, I'm back on a Spanish island or in Tuscany enjoying instant perfect relaxation - all-is-well-with-the-world bliss. Ah, the memories!

Light and clean like I just stepped out of the shower. I smell wisteria, a little bit of soap, amber and musk and maybe just the slightest hint of peach- barely detectable. No real sweetness here- kind of dry and airy. To me, this doesn't smell like Narciso Rodriguez for Her in the slightest, as one reviewer thought. Very "safe", pleasant- probably a good office scent. Nice longevity and medium sillage.

Antigone

This scent ir almost for everyones nose. It is not a luxury scent obviously. Quite light, a bit sweet and suitable for holidays or everyday use is summer. On my skin it last long enough.

This is fabulous! i just luv it. I didnt know that this was fabuous because this was my mom's and when I liked that bottle, i took it out and smelt. From that day, this is my favourite and if i wear any blue dress, i wear this.

I can remember hating this perfume. I don't know why I would see it everywhere and just think no, no and no. Everytime I would talk to a salesperson about fresh perfumes they would try to sell me this and I would say no, no no. I don't know why but for some unexplained reason I sprayed some of my mums on my wrist at her place because I had forgotton my perfume. I thought, that smells like sandlewood but not the Samsara sandlewood just an annoying sadlewood. Then a minute later it started to change and become almost like strawberries or bubblegum but a light musk as well. It wasn't childish like kiddie strawberries just this faint stawberrie smell. I really liked it. I got a large bottle and used the whole bottle I just loved it. My bottle seized up at one point and wouldn't spray not sure if anyone else had that problem. I was horrified because I still had a lot left in it but I managed to get it working again. I will get this one again because I like the smell and it lasts. I used to spray it and didn't like it so I am not sure what accounts for my sudden turn in opinion. Oh well good for me another one I can enjoy.

This smells so delicious and summery - a perfect summer fragrance that translates well from day to night. It reminds of sunshine on the sea without being too light or "blue". It smells like Mediterranean air with a bit of spice. A very beautiful perfume for everyday!

What perfume do you wear in a 100-degree humid weather? Mediterranean. What would you recommend for the summer that sits close to your skin and does not smell artificial? Mediterranean. What perfume does not suffocate others if they stay close to you in the elevator? Mediterranean. Such an understated treasure. It is not your typical "lemonade or ice tea" which is called "fresh" smell and being used by masses as "summery" fragrance. This is the best casual scent for hot summer day I can think of. It was not the "love from the first smell", but it is a great "friendship" for me. I have a body wash, lotion and perfume gift set. When applied together, it lasts and lasts and lasts... Great value, sophisticated fragrance and simple but colorful bottle. What else can you ask for?

Mandana

Interesting fragrance, although I am not an Arden fan (her perfumes are mostly far too conservative), this perfume definitely has that certain something, perfect for summer, an exotic and romantic blend of flowers and fruit that linger a long time. The blue bottle conjures up images of the Mediterranean but to me this is not an acquatic perfume at all, there are no "watery" or "blue" notes in here. When I wear it, I dont think of being by the SEA in a warm climate, I think of driving past sand dunes in a hot climate, in an open-top sports car with a scarf round my head, laughing and just enjoying the sun! I get this image when I wear this perfume LOL. I found it by chance in the perfume shop on holiday; I dont understand why this perfume was never such a big selling one; too little publicity maybe? A shame as it is really a classy young perfume!

I love this fragrance! I just bought my second 100 ml bottle. Boring bottle and design, but a wonderful, sexy, delicate, summer-feeling inside.

glama

Love the bottle- simple & pretty- I like the perfume. LOVE the orange in this -its warm & spicy, yummy with not too too much powdery after smell. I like most of Elizabeth Ardens fragrances & they are priced right

sisbro6

it just smells like the aigner suede edition. i just love it

Don't be fooled by its name and the colour of the bottle.

If you're looking for sth fresh and aquatic this definitely is not your choice. It's floral rather than aquatic, with sandalwood drydown. It's quite nice.

If I ever find a 30 ml bottle on sale I may consider buying.

Piya

Once I tested it in Macy's. I liked it and got a 3.3oz bottle. Unfortunately I don't find it nice once I apply. It leaves a strong sandalwood scent on me. I would have been happier to get a floral or aquatic note from it. However, it might work better on someone. It stays on for quite some time.
