it's a big disappointment for me. I tried this fragrance over and over but I couldn't smell anything at all. is anybody here experienced this situation before? maybe I'm anosmic to some notes in this fragrance, I don't know.

Bordo

So many notes... In the end it is pretty messy. For me it is unique and generic at the same time. Definitely not gourmand, due to green and floral aspects and weir perfumey creaminess. Main association for me is chamomile tea :D only sweet, fresh, with litchi and in girly perfume for. Personally, not for me. But if I smelled it on someone, I would think is is careless and well groomed at the same time, in a positive way.

shenamedel

Before I knew the notes of Escada Magnatism I would describe it as a pink grapefruit scent to coworkers who complemented me & asked me for the details. Now that I know that it's a whole fruit basket, but I would say that litchi is the driving force from beginning to end. While I do remember previous bottles were even stronger & even more long lasting; the current edition that I am wearing is plenty strong & long lasting as well. Even though it's toned down some from years ago. It lasts over 8 hours & I have quite a decent scent bubble around me. The fruits in the fruit basket were all arranged with the fruits' stems & leaves on so they can stay as fresh & potent as possible until you're ready to eat them. So this fruit basket potency is what is captured & expressed in this bottle called Escada Magnatism. Ta Da!(IMHO) So you really need to like litchi & green notes to enjoy wearing this potent & fruity beauty.

It's 2003. I'm 20, on a Disney cruise with my family, and Mom wants to treat me to a perfume from the boutique.

Magnetism is the first fragrance I ever picked based solely on testing it - not being drawn in by the ubiquitous ads and papery samples of 1990s fashion magazines - and compared to the aggressively fruity BBW body sprays of middle school, and later the clean freshness of my high school favorites CK One and Cool Water, this had so much more complexity and depth. By extension I felt sophisticated and grown up wearing it (I could order wine on the ship when we were in international waters!)

I have such happy and vivid memories of that time that I don't think it will ever stop being a favorite that I reach for fondly, even if it no longer fully encompasses my preferences.

Magnetism is a mixed bag you know the one that you get from your local community garden, literally. I smell the tomato leaf that’s in Stella McCartney Pop (pink cap) which is also very fleeting. Low silage, the green notes and the sweetness clash in a game of tug-o-war. Frankly, I don’t know which note I want more out of. If you’re quirky and like drinking v8 juice, you’ll like this. I can’t stop smelling my arm. I want this fragrance to work but I don’t think I’ll have good memories associated with it. Not a crowd pleaser unless Magnetism pleases yourself, then that’s all that matters.

KatelynMLovesPerfume

I really wanted to like this, I think it’s that this fragrance with my skin chemistry is not a good match at all. I don’t really get any fruity notes besides maybe the pineapple. For the life of me I can’t pin which note is taking over this entire fragrance on my skin but it’s very sharp and not flattering at all. It’s a suffocating kind of sweet chemical smell, Maybe it’s the green notes, I’m really not a fan of green notes for the most part. I also don’t think the caramel in here flows well with the entire fragrance. But yeah there’s something really cloying and sharp about this, it’s not my fav, and I think it’s mostly just not good with my chemistry so no hate to people that like it!

raiza1990

This is nice. It´s very fruity but more mature than Escada´s summer editions. It´s also not sickening. On my skin it´s a mix of fruit and powder. Nice scent for an evening out.

daturamoon

Always gets me compliments. From friends, and their relatives, and people I don’t even talk to. Always gets asked too. Never really think that it’s such a good smell which is the reason why i didn’t use it for a few years. I have it because it was a gift from a relative i don’t even talk to. Since i’m getting compliments i started to love it too. Its smell is not too sweet or floral i suppose. Always in between. Can’t say very long-lasting on skin but i can smell it on my coat all the time since i overspray it two to three times a day because of the smell of cigarettes.

madecel

Needed to sit with this fragrance a bit before I fell in love with it. It is extremely sweet, floral and fruity, with a nice hint of pepper. It's definitely got an older nostalgic vibe to it.

Wow wow wow
Big wow for escada
When you first spray it’s so similar to roberto cavalli flora
But it change for minutes
Like it so much🤍

LaitekMai

it's not long-lasting, but I like it. reminds me of 20 years ago when I lived where I lived and went to university....brings back memories,I just bought one again, and reminiscent of the time I will never return. If not for the personal memories I wouldn't care for it, its nothing special regular cheap perfume from any pharmacy walmart.nothing like your niche from Dubai.

LindseyBrooke

This perfume was recently gifted to me and I was so excited because it is absolutely gorgeous. It's fruity, sweet, sensual, playful, and everything I typically want in a perfume.

The opening of this perfume is to die for. It's sweet, juicy berries. The dry down is a bit more floral and powdery, but in a very pleasant way. Powdery works very well here.

Initially I was disappointed because I wasn't impressed with the performance of this one. But if you are willing to spray it more like a body spray, the projection and longevity is actually not bad. You might have to spray it a good 7-10 times to get the performance you want. Very worth it!

Atomikbomb_

Oh...amazing! There's a phenomenon that happens...I'm not sure if there's a term for it, but it's when you don't realize you've progressed out of a time frame until something ignites your senses and strikes you suddenly as being hallmarked by the past. It's not necessarily *merely* nostalgia, it's a recognition that things are not longer in the likeness of the older thing you're experiencing (music, asthetics, and certainly fragrance most of all). This was my immediate sensation - 'Oh wow. Things don't smell like this now, but they used to!"

I've never experienced this exact fragrance, to my knowledge, but it's familiar. The fruit laced with a peppery floral, it does absolutely smell red and I'm SO happy when a fragrance matches it's supporting bottle. In this case, it's dead on 🍓❤️

I actually get rose, but this is much more powdery than I anticipated! It's going to sound strange, but the warm, sunny powdery floral tone smells somewhat like Far Away by Avon. Yet, this is much more youthful. F.A has a melange of florals too, as well as a slightly dusty vanilla, and it creates something in common to what I'm perceiving here. This is not to say they smell the same, but they smell like relatives, with this one being much brighter due to the fruit. The vanilla in both is much less gourmond in general than what we encounter with most mainstream fragrances of this era. This has a touch of greenness, but it isn't overly herbal, it just adds a certain balance to the entire composition that smells as if it was placed there by a genius. I can't tell that it's basil, but merely that there's a green freshness, though it's more obvious within the first hour or so.

This dries really beautifully, becoming sandalwoody, but still peppery! I really enjoy it. What is peppery in the opening stages is likely the cassis, and what I'm perceiving to be spicy in the drydown might be lingering facets of cassis (not necessarily a true topnote, it does linger) but also the vetiver. It's an interesting combo and it's really fun to finally experience this, since it's a cult classic for many people. I see why! And it's fresh, but never overly heavy or syrupy. Nor is it too dense in vanilla (and I love a dense vanilla, but this could be worn in high heat). Longevity&sillage are both about a 7, neither bombastic nor weak, but significant.

I really like this, and it borders on love. It's really delightful and I think since it's a little older, one could wear it and not be lost in the redundancy of current popular fragrances.

Fruit-chan

This is such a beautiful perfume.A mix of Angel and Yum pistachio gelato.
Heaven. If only it lasted longer and had better projection.

takema

The first couple of times I wore Escada Magnetism after I purchased it, I found myself in a bit of a love-hate relationship with this fragrance. There were elements I genuinely enjoyed, but there was also an underlying harsh and scratchy quality that prevented me from fully embracing it. After seeking advice online, which recommended letting the fragrance age for a while, I decided to give it another chance, and I must say, it did improve, but not without some lingering issues.

Magnetism opens with a burst of fruity and green notes. The fruits are tart and juicy, with a hint of darkness that adds depth. However, the green aspect quickly becomes bitter and tends to overpower the luscious fruits. It took me some time to pinpoint that it's the cassis note that can be harsh and scratchy in this and certain other fragrances. With time, the scratchiness has mellowed, but it remains somewhat bitter and unbalanced. As the fragrance settles on the skin, things start to improve. The fruity sweetness makes a comeback, and the bitter greens help to rein in the initial sweetness. In the drydown, the interplay of vanilla, caramel, and benzoin lends the fruity notes a delightful candied quality. The bitter green undertones persist in the background, lending depth to what could otherwise be an overly sweet scent.

Escada Magnetism exudes a sense of fun, flirtation, and playfulness. It seems tailored more towards a younger audience without feeling juvenile, striking a youthful and slightly girly vibe. One of its strengths is its versatility as an all-season fragrance. I've worn it on warm fall days without it feeling overwhelming or cloying.

In terms of performance, Magnetism holds its own. It projects moderately, and its best aspects come alive when it lingers in the air. On the skin, it lasts a decent 4-5 hours, while it tends to linger a bit longer on clothing.

What's truly appealing about this fragrance is its affordability. The 50ml bottle can typically be found for under $50, and Canadians, in particular, may stumble upon even better deals, as it is often found on the the discount shelves at Shopper's Drug Mart for under $25.

The bottle's deep pink hue adds a touch of charm, but otherwise, the packaging doesn't boast any particular standout features.

Maki

My biggest love and my go to fragrance for all year around, preferably night time. It's incredibly feminine and sensual without any heavily sweet vanilla, coconut or amber aura. Flowerish and juicy and content, femme fatale but approachable. For me this sent is like red lipstick, but in fragrance. Lasts all night. Reminds me of a Marilyn Monroe type of woman, just playfully sexy. I've been using it for the last decade or even longer, and still can't get enough of it.

heartsparks

I needed to rewrite my review just so I could give this perfume the flowers it deserves.

Magentism kickstarted my fragrance journey. Since then I've tried more scents than I care to admit, and I just keep coming back to this one. The way it manages to balance seemingly contradictory accords is artful. How can something be extra fresh yet sweetly rich? No clue, but Magnetism does it expertly. Youthful but mature. There is quite literally nothing like it that I've tried.

Very quickly approaching signature territory for me.

hotbaby1

This works for me when I want something sweet, not offensive, because the dry down is all vanilla and caramel. The green/mint scent is there on my skin, but not for too long. The Drydown calls all the base notes, but in a light way. It’s ultimately sweet but not heavy. I got it bc of the reviews comparing it to Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato, which I only smelled at Sephora, so I can’t make a comparison, but at first smell they are identical, they smell cold.
The longevity is awesome, beast mode. I recommend it if you can find It at a deal price because it’s a great scent. I will use it a lot in the cold months for nights out.

terigurl

I used to own this fragrance in the 2000's so it brings back lots of nostalgia. Since re-purchasing it a couple of years ago I haven't used much of this but decided to wear it today. It is green in the opening, but the green note doesn't last long. On my skin it turns sweet, warm and clean which I love. The black current, vanilla and musk are very prominent on my skin. I used 6 sprays and I'm loving my scent bubble as it's not overpowering the office but gives just enough to enjoy while I do my work. So far, the longevity is there, and I don't think I'll need to re-apply any time soon. I plan to use this more often.

Lela24

One of my fave perfumes!! Sweet, girly yet soo sexy. Very sweet but lightweight smell. Lasts long, sillage is okay.

Definitely worth buying!

Dannielle

I still own my bottle from 2005 and the top tropical fruity notes have faded. I mostly get sweet powdery base notes with some black current. I decided last year to purchase the new formulation and for some reason that bottle was completely different and very spicy green. I got it from Nordstrom rack and decided to return it . Fast forward to this year and I couldn't help but want to retry it in hopes that I would get a better formulation. I pulled the trigger and purchased it from Burlington...the batch code was recent and as soon I opened it finally it was my beloved magnetism! Smells just like I remember. Very tropical pineapple and berries with a sweet powdery and ambery base. It's sexy and it's youthful but not juvenile . It was my night out scent back then and I thought it was pretty strong, but now I think it's a year round fragrance that can be worn on summer nights as well as all day in any other season.

Avarie

Silly, but: Suki, from 2 Fast 2 Furious. Down to the hot pink.

A blast of fruity greens settling into a lightly ambery concoction that I cannot place. Simultaneously layered and fresh at the same time. Very flirty without bowling someone over. The very picture of teens and young adults I wished I could be growing up, as in, the latest they could've graduated high school is 2005 (Just 10 years too young, boo.)

The gourmands, dark berries + citrus combos, cotton candy, and coconut types hadn't a full chokehold yet. Arguably before patchouli became such a coveted, loud base note even in celeb fragrances. So more developed teen fragrances of then were in that limbo of fresh-fruity, sporty, and caramel. Magnetism does a weirdly magical job of balancing them all.

I have such a soft spot for the years 2000-2005, and this is a perfect snapshot of their youths' energy. The "cool big sister's" perfume you'd steal sprays from. Bold, extroverted, sassy, never boisterous; and despite all that, very easy to wear. It would be perfect over an amber lotion or body cream. I see golden summer days and neon nights out on the town, as this can weave between both. Will be a year-round staple for me.

The13thHour

Magnetism is my favorite perfume from Escada. The 2003 nostalgia that this brings back makes me want to cry. Magnetism was way ahead of it's time tbh.

Gillzathrillza

YES. This smells as glorious as I remember it. I smelled this somewhere as a teen and for the longest time, kept a note that I wanted this perfume, but couldn’t afford it and never got around to it.
But now that I’m an adult with a job, in the midst of collecting perfume and feeling nostalgic…there was nothing to stop me.

It’s got a very green opening (is it the basil?), which had me wondering if I’d mis-remembered my love.
However, it settles down into a beautiful amber-vanilla-floral-fruity concoction. Basically, all of the good elements of the perfumes I love to wear, rolled into one.

I’ve yet to wear this with full force so I may come back and review scores but it’s not the loudest or longest perfume but I will not hesitate to respray.

It’s a love from me.

MadameMerola

I absolutely adored this perfume when it was launched and bought myself a bottle in 2004. I remember distinctly that this was the only perfume my nose could tolerate when I got married and became pregnant with my first child in 2005. I wore the life out of this perfume and got so mad at my husband for always wearing it too because I definitely don’t think it is unisex, lol.

Now in my mid forties, I remember this perfume and got the oil to wear whenever I feel in the mood for it. I must say that it was extremely unique and easily recognizable by those who know what it smells like. Unlike nowadays where too many perfumes smell like each other and you cant tell niche apart from a dupe, perfumes in the 1990s and early 2000s had more character and depth. Also sillage, longevity and quality where so much better than the lighter versions being passed of as eau de parfumerie nowadays.

I prefer buying from UAE brands more nowadays because I get more quality for my money. Especially because I have grown to love and appreciate Oud fragrances since my sense of smell became heightened after pregnancy. I can really pick scents easily now.

sandradiana

I love this perfume so much!!!
When I first had it, it was a gift my nana got and she passed it down to me as she didn't like it.
Quess what, I didn't like it either lol, but I wore it as I didn't have any other perfumes (I was around 18-19 years old).
I wore it to my retail job and one day I received a compliment from a lady saying how good it smells, I remember that day so well. It was rainy and mucky and she came in to get her usual coffee and we smoked a cigarette together. Don't know why this is imprinted in my brain. It reminds me now of how carefree my life was then.

Now to the present.
Will be 28 soon.

I love it soo much. Especially the drydown it's AMAZING. Sweet, ambery, creamy what and fresh at the same time??!?!?!
I wore it to my office job today and I didn't get any compliments or anything, yet again it's rainy and muddy.
But this is the kind of perfume I wear for myself.
The comfort it gives me it's insane. Makes a little melancholic as well.
Like the lady under me said, it's fruity yet mature and sexy.

AHHHH I CAN'T GET ENOUGH

Anyway, if you like ambery creamy fragrances and you want one for summer I think this is it!
The longevity is good, sillage too, not expensive at all.
I keep applying it tho as I love the first couple hours of it.

Annascott1

Escada Magnetism, like so many commenting here, has also been a long time
favorite, signature scent for me on heavy rotation pretty much consistently for 20 years. It’s a stand out, unique, very well performing, attention & compliment getter. I was introduced to this by a friend of a friend who was wearing it and I fell in love immediately and went out the way and bought it. I love it bc it’s a cheapie, and a very good value for what you get, which is a totally original silage bomb and a jumbo bottle with a ton of Juice. Also noteworthy is that it’s pyramid is made up of quite a lot of notes I don’t usually for including the fact that it’s sweet, so it’s nice to have to mix up my usual routine. I just picked up a bottle that’s batch I looked up and it was apparently made in 2022, surprised that it’s still in production, a reformulation no doubt but the batch I got is a winner & very close to the original imo.

aflakes

Wow the opening of this fragrance is just like Yum Pistachio Gelato 33 by Kayali, but they go in different directions. There is a slight greeness and soft fruitiness, but ultimately Escada Magnetism is very powdery with vanilla, bezoin, and amber on my skin. I love it.

SmellyDidi

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this smells just like Dr Pepper Chapstick. Not just the beverage alone, because it definitely has a waxy quality to it. I get what people are saying about the fresh cut grass aspect too, but to me the Dr Pepper Chapstick scent stands out much more.

Francilicious

Me encanta!!

Marlinte

Has been my signature scent for years.
A really addictive scent, with all that sweet and fresh together. My boyfriend ( now husband ) loved it on me.
Than it was nowhere available in the Netherlands. Out of stock everywhere. It was awfull, haha.
Next summer I bumped into a new badge in Wien, smelled it, and was sooooo disapointed.
The fruity, different warm scent I loved so much is now watery and blend.
Boohoo.
New formula is really different.
For the ones who did not smell the original formula, it may be a really nice scent, but for those who know: they know, and it will never be the same again.

KimGr28

I will always have this in my collection. It's the perfect fruity fragrance for me. Not too sweet and a little tart with sexy dry down.

Roses&dahlias

This was my signature fragrance for many years! It got me so many compliments and some friends even knew I was at a party by smelling my perfume before they even saw me! And I am not an oversprayer. Love this still because it brings back good memories of fun salsa dance parties and collegeparties. I think this was my first perfume that made me interested in the world of fragrances. I do think it is a perfume that will suit a young bubbly girl. My daughter would also love this.

EvaNicoleFragrance

Picked up a bottle from a discounter. So much regret. Childish and cheap smelling. Relisting this one.

marketatom

Got a big bottle of this one from my ex-boyfriend in 2004... it was way too strong for me back then. Now, 20 years later I am so happy, that I did not give it away. Such a yummy & sexy scent, truly magnetic... I am getting compliments about it at my work all the time (still allowed in my country :) and so different from what is sold as "Magnetism" in the shops now. Same for my 25 years old bottle of Cinnabar. Ugly bottle, but the scent is 100% better then the new version... almost as good as my beloved KLwomen from Lagerfeld (still have a half of a bottle of it). Happy that I did not use much the perfumes in my twenties and thirties...now in my fifties I do enjoy those old & half forgotten perfume bottles of mine much more. Interesting that most of them did not "go bad", I guess it is the proof of the old school quality . :)

bashak

I love some scents and I can understand why others don't like them. For example, Tonka Imperiale, Baccarat Rouge, Shalimar, Alien, 212 Women etc. I also like that I have a taste that differs from others. But I don't understand how a person could not love Magnetism. It's an stunning scent that's cheerful, fresh, sweet, sexy... I don't know if that's why I haven't used it for a long time. I've been in a perfume crisis again for the past month. I couldn't find anything to make me happy this spring. Olympea is good but sometimes too loud. Chance Tendre is too naive. Burberry Weekend has been reformulated. Everyone uses Mon Guerlain or Libre!
Just when I was thinking of buying a new bottle of Zen, I tried Magnetism that was left at the of the bottle. Omg! Why would a person stay away from Magnetism for years?!
Maybe because it’s so sexy? May be it's sexy in a approachable way?
Maybe she does not want to draw so much attention and be given so many compliments?
Yes, maybe!
Then I can save a bottle just for date nights<3
I just have to say that the bottle I have is the old formula. If I don't like the new formula, bad things will happen.

shenamedel

Escada Magnetism is a tart & juicy tropical fruit juice cocktail that lasts for several hours on skin & can shine sharply in hot weather with moderate-large projection. This bittersweet scent reminds me of guava & pink grapefruit mixed with tropical white florals. I purchased my bottle at Ross in 2021 & it's still a strong scent with good presence compared to a previous bottle that I finished from 2010 or so. I only use 2-3 sprays & that's plenty to provide a strong scent bubble around you. I don't get any powdery or caramel notes whatsoever; just a linear wall of scent that is bright & sunny & outgoing. This is probably best in open spaces vs closed spaces IMHO.

bpopelkova

I love this one, this is definitely my signature scent. Comforting, green, caramel, sweet, very safe office scent, also sexy, very feminine. Smells eternally from hair and my leather jacket.

TihanaB

If anyone has an old bottle of this, bought before 2010. please send me a message.

clairescentience

On paper and clothes, it smells like sweet juice. You don't smell the baser or darker notes but I sprayed it on my skin and this is where this scent shines! This scent really shines when you place it on pulse points and don't overspray. This juicy berry-melon hook really catches attention and it's the warmth, faint cigarettes, and powder that blossoms underneath. This scent is the 2000s House music clubbing scene of my fantasies. It's something I like as a concept, but can't really commit to in actual. That said, I can't get enough of the berries-melon combo in this, but I crave something more and I don't want it in the cigarettes and powder that cheapen it. This scent... Achieved its purpose. Magnetism. I'm drawn to it even though I can't completely like it. But there's a 'hook' that keeps me interested and wanting. It's just SO juicy. So ripe, I can roll those those berries between my teeth and fold my tongue over that sweet melon. Juicy in a mostly fresh, and just slightly playful chapstick way. I'm relieved to know that the cigarette scent in the dry down fades and it really dries down to the juiciest, chapstick fruit and powder. It's so sexy in a playful way. Like a bubbly succubus wearing hot pink EVERYTHING and glitter. Hyperfeminine, out-going, a head-turner without being loud or pushy about it. An allure that radiates--and all who catch a whiff? Want to take a bite.

velvetcherry

I just got a bottle of this after browsing the sight and reading the reviews and I AM IN LOVE. This is my exact scent! It reminds me of a much more complex and cleaner version of Japanese Cherry Blossom from B&BW but without the synthetic alcohol notes. This scent is balanced and clean while also floral and creamy, lightly sweet with a small undernote of vanilla and greenery. This scent is a forgotten classic. I think this scent can work for any occasion also, A classically beautiful scent. One of the best features of this perfume is that it is not overwhelmingly sweet or sugary so it doesn't smell too juvenile. Also huge bottle for such a good price.

daisybrown

tickled fantasy, raspberry glacé, bottomless champagne, nightclub beat, dior lip maximizer

TrinaChic

A more mature Pink Sugar. If you like Pink Sugar but think it's too youthful smelling, I'd check this out. Got a good sized bottle for under $30 at TJ Maxx :)

Maia_Sultana

The drydown on this is really amazing!

ysatis

Novel (after reformulation) is with no logo on the bottle. Hooking synthetics

Ayeshaahmed

Really bursting fragrance and safe for a blind buy but the price vs longevity is very much inverse.

DarkestBee28

Smells like vegetables. If you put it on your skin, it’s smells like you’ve been rubbing your body against a tomato plant. If that’s your thing, go for it. ✌🏼

sibaraa

Fruity, green but mainly leaning powdery. A nice one . Reminds me of kenneth Cole white.

peachygal

reviews for this are polarising so I was expecting something unusual and or challenging (which I like trying) but I don’t think this one is.

First spray it’s a fruity floral but with a sourness or bitterness to it? Also a bit powdery or musky.

Dry down it gets sweeter but essentially it is a sweet and sour (bitter maybe?) fruity floral with some powderiness to it. I’m really enjoying it but it’s not really unusual like some reviews make it out to be.

ava96

There is something very comforting about this smell. I don't think it stands out particularly but nevertheless I really enjoy it. I feel enveloped in a cloud of love. It kind of feels like all my teachers in the early 2000s were wearing this perfume. I can't really call out any specific smell, I just smell sweet, perhaps caramelly.

Joyfulsmells2

It's ok. There is a mint note in it. Something smells minty.

Update 6/2023
I love this now. It smells so good and gourmand. Like chocolate, strawberry, cherry, whipped cream, & with a hit of a floweral earthy scent.

Anything4talishas

One of my favorite perfumes. Definitely gives y2k clubbing era, or expensive escort, and those kind of scents are right up my alley lol I love this as a summertime night time scent, or something to wear to get someone’s attention. I like the fresh, clean green notes, as well as the tropical fruity and sweet gourmand notes. They play well together. This is what I thought clubbing in Miami was like when I was a teen and daydreamed about it lol.

xowiktoria

Too much of everything! There are fresh, fruity, milky, coconut, caramel, herbal, amber notes and many more that are beautiful on their own. But all that blended together with no dominant, leading theme is confusing rather than pleasing. Very odd sweet mixture that made me nauseous. Smells cheap. Sometimes less is more.

Marionym

I used to have this years ago and loved it. I feel like it this made you smell like an expensive escort haha but in a good way.
Bought it again recently and it almost makes me sick. Not sure if it has been reformulated but it smells sharp and sweaty.

ifffy

Oh this is interesting! I bought this for the nostalgia factor because it was the signature and favorite of my primary school girl crush, the memories come rushing right away when I sniff at the nozzle. This is a warm amber scent with some spicy kick to it , its definitely magnetic as the name suggests because it imparts the wearer with a mysterious, sexy and seductive vibe. Its great for night time events like dates, concerts and clubbing. Has a very early 2000s vibe to it (understandably so) but it doesn't feel obsolete. Its much better to me than BR450 or the likes because it doesn't suck the air out of space, though this is also quite headache-inducing unfortunately. The green leaves, cassia and basil give it the spicy herbal vibe to it , while the caramel, amber and vetiver make it woody, sweet and warm. That prickly-powdery-caramel warmth lasts until the very end even when the fruity body fades. it honestly smells a bit odd and alien..like the alien femme fatale from the movie Species.

Laurus

This one starts lovely fresh and sweet. I really love the opening. It is still more unique than most. It gets warmer towards the end very sexy indeed but quite sweet. I can see how men would love this on women.

yeesa_

This is very fruity. I dont get that grass element people are talking about but it smells super nostalgic I cant put my finger on it. It turns powdery on my skin and its just alright not for me.

Tomadeupjazz

Recently I went through all my perfumes and picked out ones I wouldn't repurchase for one reason or another. This made it onto that list. I was recommended this by someone as being the best Escada fragrance the house has ever done. I'm used to Escada's being just straight up fruity with maybe a bit of ozonic quality, maybe something fresh or floral, but nothing TOO crazy. To my dismay this was on a whole other level. This has more than 20 fragrance notes, most of them being fruity and sweet, so I looked past the aromatic, herbal notes and accords, and purchased anyway per the recommendation. The only thing I smell with this perfume is those aromatic, herbal, grassy green notes. WTH!! I will say, when sniffing up close, it fill your nose with fresh cut grass, or like you stuck your head in someone's seasoning cabinet. From afar its a bit sweeter and slighlty more pleasant but this is not a scent for me. AND IT'S NOT THE BEST ESCADA EVER MADE IMO!! I had to shout that one lol but its just my opinion. It's summer, and hot as balls in Arizona and its ok, but I don't want to smell like freshly mowed lawn, and herbalness with a tinge of sweet.

Nora805

Sweet sexy get noticed scent. Outdoor or club scent. Date night. Can still smell it on me, sheets, room the morning after. In a good way. You will be remembered.

Geri Geri Love

Such a wonderful, elegant, feminine fragrance! Classy but unpretentious at the same time. I used to be faithful to Magnetism for many years before I switched to more oriental style perfumes, but now I am thinking it's time to fall in love with this one all over again. I don't really feel the sharp green notes, to me it's a beautiful combination of fresh fruits with a hint or caramel sweetness and warm sandalwood. If you enjoy fruity and slightly sweet perfumes, you should definitely give it a try.

Perpetual Collector

Not a fan of this. It just smells odd to me, and I adore odd perfumes. This is just wrong. Smells like some kind of medicated skin condition cream with fragrance added to it, I don't know, it's very hard to describe. The only Escada I owned before this was the Ibiza Hippie, and I am finding them kinda similar, but IH was way more wearable than Magnetism. I don't want to smell like it nor do I want to stand next to someone wearing it. No clue what to do with it, I will keep it for the collection's sake, but heck if I will ever wear it. I don't know how anyone can compare this to BR 540, that's insulting.
Longevity-wise, I got some 2 hours out of it, single spray to my forearm.

Hd82

This remains the most unique scent in my collection - I’ve been wearing it for 15 years and I never get tired of it. Obviously it wears different on everyone so it is not a safe blind buy, but I don’t think any fragrance is. On me it is very long lasting and sweet yet fresh and bright. Also, today I’ve been testing Baccarat Rouge 540 and for some reason was really reminded of Magnetism (must be the caramel note?), but I much prefer Magnetism! It is way more complex and better blended than BR540, which I found quite common smelling in comparison.

figgymum

This summer party splash has caraway in it ladies! That's the green accord that's killing this otherwise inoffensive fruity/vanilla scent for many of you. Caraway is a scent and flavouring monster, derived from dill weed and found mostly in rye bread and almost never in perfumes. I have no idea why they tried to blend this incongruous ingredient other than to shock for it's own sake. Maybe not everyone's skin develops the accord, but those who can't tolerate it aren't wrong. It's like the weird smell that makes you wary of the fruit punch!

annasarahr121

Pleasant, caramel-fruity, scent in the same vein as Lolita Lempicka Lolitaland, and even a bit reminiscent of Mugler Eden, but those have vanilla in place of the caramel. It's kind of interesting pairing up the sweetness of caramel with the tanginess of tropical fruits like pineapple, litchi, and melon, and these notes bring to the fragrance a similar overripe fruitiness found in Lolitaland or Eden. But Escada Magnetism has dismal longevity; it fades within 30 minutes to barely a whisper. Ultimately, a disappointing scent for me.

KiikiKiiki

Bought into the YouTube hype; worst mistake. First spray is fruity but immediately has a “grassy” dry down. Very green. If you are into sharp green scents, thanks for you. Will be returning pronto.

derliesl

The original version had a very grassy, hay-like note that's not present in the remake. Even though the scent isn't as sexy as before its a really versatile perfume that suits me very well. It's uplifting, cheeky and feminine. Sweet but not cloying. It's vibrant and not offending.

Alchemie

Just tried the new version. It smells almost identical to Manifesto l’Éclat. Same green note that bothers me in Manifesto, its very prominent. Cant smell anything else. Not much of sweetness. Didn't like. And of course pretty long lasting.

vanilie

on first sniff it instantly gives off early 00's/y2k clubbing scent, even post reformulation. i was way too young when this was released for that but i remember smelling this on tanned pretty girls going out on their smoke breaks in the summer. it feels like it was made to mix with body heat and smoke. overall, an uncomplicated scent, i get the the slightly masculine feel others are talking about but i wouldn't call it unisex. a little green, vaguely fruity & fun, might be generic by today's standards but it still has something unique to me. shame the performance is terrible (2019 coty batch, of course... i'm sensing a trend with all my recent coty purchases).

grapefruit352

Longevity around 1-1,5 hours...then totally evaporates without a trail.
Sillage- there is no sillage..
So many of notes listed.. I feel only some red fruit and some screechy note (kind of pomegranate or rhubarb?). Very synthetic anyways. Not a natural fruit's scent.

Phantomias

Where's the sweetness? Where are all the notes like melon and caramel? The opening is a tad sour. EM is less than the sum of its parts: a generic fragrance with modest longevity and poor sillage. Pass on this one.

Ada_L

The green notes are to pronounced for my linking. I was expecting more fruity scent. Moderate longevity.

Lunitalex

Cheap sweet vanilla, I gave it to my friend.

cacemonster

Oh this is one interesting find! I half blind bought it as I several years ago smelled it of a bottle but didnt get any must have vibes from it. I suddenly came across it here, read the reviews and wanted to try it. At first, its so much going on, so many smells and quite strong. I enjoyed the journey it took me on, as it develops alot the 1st hour. I jumped between liking and disliking it here and there. It was a lot to take in. This is in my opinion not necessarily a safe blind buy as I imagine this might play off very differently on different people. It now has settled on me and now I really do enjoy it alot, to almost a love! It isnt as overpowering as it was in the beginning, its sweet but mature, but I have no idea how to describe the smell, but it so beautiful! I would encourage you to try this out first though, but I am very happy I took the chance and ordered it. I feel like i found a hidden gem. And might order another bottle. :)

Jessie James

I was obsessed with this perfume when I was in my 20's and I still really love it. I first smelled it on a girl while on vacation in Mexico- she wore this every night to the discotheque and it was absolutely intoxicating!

It's a fun, flirty, sexy perfume. I think most people would like it. The bottle matches the smell perfectly! Sexy, sexy sexy!

ash.nguyen6

NOT a safe blind buy unless you enjoy green notes. Beside from the beautiful magenta crystal bottle I regret blind buying this fragrance. If you're reading the notes and expecting a sweet fruity floral fragrance this is absolutely not it. Too much green in this perfume that just doesn't mix well at all. It lasts for a moderate amount of time and projects ok. It's a 3/10 for me. I can't stand green notes.

Heidi2021

This is different.. It is a lot going on here. Have not used it a lot, I think it will be better in spring, Im not sure but feels like it. It's aromatic, a bit fruity and green but in a different kind of way and I think it's because of the basil. The vanilla comes through in the drydown and it's pretty. Suits both on day and night time. Pretty good longtivity.

LolliMolly09

This was a blind buy based on YouTube reviews and the notes. I like sweet fruity berry scents and was expecting something along those lines, but I was sorely mistaken. This perfume is an astringent smelling fresh cut grass. ALL I smell is a sharp grassy smell that honestly kind of burns the nostrils, and underneath maybe a hint of some kind of unpleasant citrus. I destashed immediately to a friend so they could experience the weirdness.

danidgq

I mainly pick up on the grassy notes. It is not a love, I’m currently trying to get rid of it asap.

Soccergreat88

I blind bought this and now highly regret it. It's not a bad fragrance at all, but for some reason I get a strong masculine scent with a bergamont type note. It's seems very fruity sweet but it's a men's berry scent to me. It's good but seems generic. Good for the price I paid but I willing be swapping or selling this if anyone wants

Rerik

This fragrance is similar to Paco Rabanne Ultrared for men. The same red fruity opening. Still this can't be called unisex. While Ultrared stays in the opening Magnetism develops.
Magnetism has it's feminine flowery base.

lulu169

pretty unisex

emanuellegauthier

I really don’t like this! The dry down is a little better, but the opening is so weird! I’m not a fan.

Pebblesjebbles333

Just got this today and wow it’s all yummmmmy berry goodness! I’m “berry” happy lol! This smells so sweet, juicy, syrupy and everything i want for a berry perfume to be. The mixture of the notes above was blended so well that my cravings for deep berries were instantly satiated.

I also like that the bottle looks so unique and stands out amongst my other collection. The color of the bottle perfectly captures the scent! Amazing!

This is another successful blind buy for me. I’m so very happy!

elyssium

OMG i am floored by this fragrance when i opened & unboxed it for the 1st time i was so excited as i revealed one of the prettiest perfume bottles in the market as it slightly reminds me of a deep magenta coloured version of a Kryptonite crystal shard from Superman's (or Supergirl rather in this case) fortress of solitude.

I must admit my expectations were a bit low after reading some of the negative reviews about this fragrance but much to my delight Escada Magnetism for Women had me at first spray. It was bright, fresh, fruity & sweet but also green as some described but i could not pinpoint what it reminds me of, it's actually quite unique as I've never smelled anything like it before. This is quite a revelation. The sillage is quite strong but inoffensive, neither too floral nor headache inducing (unless you over-spray it). The fruity, floral, green & sweet notes seems pretty well blended & balanced with some earthy woody notes coming through the heart notes from the vanilla, caramel, amber, musk & sandalwood as it dries down gradually to a much softer, warmer & sweeter trail in the air. And it doesn't smell dated neither considering it was released almost 2 decades ago. It actually is on trend with some of the more popular designer & niche fragrances currently in the market such as Burberry Her & Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait by Francis Kurkjian which i love. In fact i can even honestly say that it's quite ahead of its time.

Now i can't justify nor get some of the hate & negative comments about this fragrance here but imho i can definitely vouch for this one as a safe enough blind buy & one of the best blind buys i ever had. Very impressive performance i am quite satisfied by it but i guess we all have different preferences, skin chemistry & experiences with this fragrance, luckily i happen to have a positive one. Perhaps i got one from a good batch as my bottle's made in Germany not UK.

Do yourself a favour if your quite interested to try it before you buy it...or just go for it if your into sweet, comfortable, vibrant, youthful, versatile & non-linear fragrances with a bit of oomph & moderate longevity...you'll thank me later. Highly recommended...i give it three snaps & two thumbs up.🤏🤏🤏👍👍

20 years ago..studying, white leather pants, black top, peach vodka and this perfume applied 10 times. Good thing I stayed alive: D

Gingerdreamer

My all-times classic.. unfortunately it is discontinued...can we find a similar one please?

Njalexis

I love it.
My date loved it. He complimented twice asking the name so you know it must be good since men don't ask those types of questions very often.
smells intoxicating. reminds me of Armani Code. feminine. can be unisex.

Sienna_Elise

So I blind bought this for £11.99 from TKmaxx I've heard it's a bit of a cult following from the way noughties and lots of positive reviews on YouTube.
The notes really don't match with the smell apart from the green notes. It isn't rich or amber vanilla at all. To me it smells like hair spray or shampoo with a clean, green note and there isn't much more to say. It's a bit meh and doesn't last.

MimesOtto

This fragrance is a sweet fruity floral..moderate longevity...it suits all seasons in my opinion..I think I am outgrown it and not sure why I bought it again after all these years...I will finish the bottle but won't repurchase

Natbo88

I bought this on a blind buy based on YouTube reviews and was very sorry. Ultimately this was a scrubber for me. I love strong frags, don’t get me wrong, but this hit hard and was sickening. I wish I was better at detecting which notes I smell, as I want to avoid whatever note it is that I find so repulsive in this. In fact, earlier today I tried a sample of Kilian princess and at first I thought it would be nice. Midway through wearing it, however, some thing in that note reminded me very vaguely of Magnetism and I decided I no longer liked princess for that reason. The Princess has dried down to a softer more vanilla scent which is now likeable so I’m guessing the offensive note similar to Magnetism is in the heart note. If anyone has any ideas what is the same offensive harsh note I am getting in both I would love to know!

For Me, Escada Magnetism = Pink Grapefruit & Vetiver That Cuts Through Hot Days Of Summer & Supplies Refreshing Reminders Throughout Its' Wear Time For 8+ Hours With Moderate & Distinct Identity With 2-3 SpraysOn Initial Application. & Affordably Priced.

RainbowGirl

This.... will be a difficult review. There are a lot of notes listed for this perfume, and I don't get most of them. What I was hoping for was a cheap, but delicious, sweet deep berry perfume. It is sweet, and it was cheap, but I would never call this perfume delicious.

The bottle is the worst in my collection. The solid magenta colored giganto tall bottle, is topped with a wobbly sharp plastic lid, that doesn't always stick on. So my first impression was already biased.

On a card, this perfume smells terrible. Fresh watery green. In fact, I threw the card in the trash, and the bottle of perfume almost followed. However, I decided I should try this on my skin first.

It does smell more pleasant on my skin. The sweetness comes through, to make the fresh green smell a little less... pond. I smell zero black currant, which is one of my favorite perfume notes, and the reason I wanted this concoction. I may get a hint of the red berries, but... maybe not. If I did get them, they are completely gone a few seconds in.

The dry down is what saved this perfume from the trash, but I am not sure yet if I like this enough to wear, so it may end up there eventually. The dry down smells of warm vanilla sugar, with a hint of fresh watery green...powder? and then in an hour... it is gone. Poof.

The tall bottle doesn't fit in any of my boxes, so I put it under my sink with my powders and lotions. Like hiding my shame from the rest of my collection.

Edited to add: I did check, and this bottle was made in the U.K., not sure if that makes a difference in the scent profile.

ariellecoambes

I get a clean, strong, unisex floral for the first half hour. It dries down to a VERY STRONG baby powder scent on me, which is so strange because the opening has no powder!

JacquelineRenee

Magnetism is a little outside my fragrance comfort zone. It opens with a blast of black currants, lichi, and melon. Super fruity sweet opening...so far so good. The Magnetism transforms into a green, floral(I mostly get Freesia). The Caraway is interesting as it adds a black licorice type of scent. Once Magnetism settles, that is where it really goes wrong on me. I love the warmth of amber; however, the addition of the vanilla, caramel, patchouli is just nauseating on my skin. I'm not into smelling like overtly sweet wet dirt. I would classify this as a bizarre fragrance. It just makes zero sense to my nose. I can see how some may think Magnetism is reminiscent of Mugler's Angel. I am one of the freaks of nature that thought Angel was offensive to the olfactory receptors. The patchouli absolutely killed Angel for me, and in my day, ladies liked to overspray Angel. If there's one thing that can be said about Mugler fragrances... They P R O J E C T. With Mugler scents, one spray is sufficient. No need to marinate in it. Anything more borders on offensive(of course this is only my opinion). The same can be said for Magnetism... While it does not have the same sillage as Angel, it is possible to get a little too spray happy with Magnetism.

Others have called Magnetism a throwback to the '90s. Perhaps... as Magnetism does bear some resemblance to Angel. I can finally say that I have sampled one Escada fragrance that I do not like... Magnetism. In my opinion, it just smells cheap. In terms of a blind buy, I would say No. You have to get this one on your skin. If you love Magnetism and it works for you, wear it in good health. It just does not work for me at all. I do however love the bottle.

MK55555

Sexy, girly, fruity and smoky smell. I love it so much. Very long lasting to me. It can be "in your face" if you using to much.

Saj_Shae

I can't believe I almost didn't get this after seeing it at SDM on the $19.99 shelf. It was the only one left and I'm so glad I took the chance. This is what I wanted Angel by Thierry Mugler to be. They have very similar vibes but everything about Magnetism works out better for me as it doesn't have the dirty patchouli note that dominates Angel. This is such an incredibly unique fragrance and it puts me in such a great mood. I feel sexy, mysterious, elated and calm while wearing it. I love it. I wish I could find an older formulation to compare the differences but I'm very satisfied with my 2020 batch.

Edit: So I've realized that my "2020 batch" is manufactured by Coty in Germany and doesn't have a logo on the bottle. I went on a hunt to find bottles manufactured by Scannon S.A from France and UK with logos on the bottle to see if there's a difference.

Edit 2: All I have to say is the original formulation of Magnetism is worth hunting down. The note pyramid is very accurate while being incredibly well blended. It's absolutely better than the reformulation because I'm picking up more of the gourmand accords without the sharp "greenness" that's present in the reformulation. Signature scent material. Absolute love. FYI, Escada's website says the reformulation's note pyramid is as follows:
top note - blackcurrant, heart - rose and base - coconut + caramel

Vanillastorm40

Grass...that's what I smell. Going to be returning this.

imoore

Got this today, at last. Very scrumptious tropical vanilla scent. The escada symbol is on the bottom, and had been manufactured in the UK of all places. Very much love, and nobody creates lasting fruity vanilla fragrances better than Mr. Pierre Bourdon I think. I prefer this to an other green vanilla drydown perfume Manifesto Yves Saint Laurent.

MiniMena

Very beautiful. Smells very much like Banana Republic Dark Cherry and Amber.

nelliebabes

This is a vacation/ summer date scent for me. BIG tropical fruit with a hit of amber and musk. Nothing crazy unique, but I love the bottle and every Escada fragrance I own has a beautiful juicy quality. Dries down to a yummy warm sexy scent, and lasts on my skin until the next day.

Ellsa

I can't say I love this perfume, also don't hate it. When I wear it everyone gives me compliments about it, I don t know why because I don't find it as a spectacular perfume. Overall is an decent and ok perfume, sweet- fruity, performance is moderate.

Cherrylipgloss

Smells like lightly sprayed generic men’s cologne and sweet freshly mowed grass. It’s sharp, green and sweet. Doesn’t work for me at all. I returned it 10 minutes after the first spray.

IMadeleine

I do love gourmand-fruity scents and this is a bomb! Will stay forever in my collection...i think i m gonna buy a back-up bottle.

Ig: alla_loves_perfume

raerrr

A fruity, floral gourmand. Berries, litchi and pineapple up front, slowly turns into a primarily white floral bouquet, and caramel and patchouli at the base. This juice is delightfully complex. A bit powerful for my taste for everyday wear. More of an evening scent. Not for the faint of heart.

JolieSucre

Went on a shopping spree and purchased this today. To me, this is 90% Britney Spears Fantasy minus the sourness of the fruity notes, plus the musky, creamy amber of My Burberry Black.
Opening: rather generic, powdered sweet fruity concoction, giving off the 'sexy' vibe. Has a green note to it, too. Fantasy dupe.
Lifetime: Fantasy that becomes more dominant in amber and musk, losing the sweetness.
Drydown: My Burberry Black, slightly lighter on the amber. A bit powdery (like Allure's powder).
It's a nice scent and I understand why it's been a top warm, sweet and sexy fragrance choice for years.

morganbowden

Taking a trip down memory lane whilst staying at my mum's house and going through her perfume collection. Thankfully, she has hoarded several bottles of the good old original early 2000s formula, and so I convinced her to give me a bottle for old time's sake. This is the first perfume I remember encountering, and it was love at first smell. I must have been seven or eight. As a child, this smelled to me like what an 'adult' smells like; I think even back then I perceived the connotations of this being 'sexy.' Now that I'm in my twenties and revisiting it years later, I can absolutely confirm. Perhaps I am biased because I love gourmands and thick, heavy syrupy notes, so I'm predisposed to enjoy the caramel. Whilst the notes are kind of chaotic in theory, I personally do not find this to be too busy on the nose. Instead, I think it's creamy and rounded. The opening is a fruit cocktail splash and a generous serving of sugar with a subtle (on me) green note in the background which relieves it from being sweet-on-steroids. The vanilla makes it cosy and warm. Sillage is just as I remember, leaving trails all around the house. Longevity is also impressive. It's fun, rather bold, and I'm so happy to be reunited with it at long last if only for the nostalgia it brings!

This one was a blind buy; given the price, not a bank breaking one, so I immediately took the largest bottle.
As an aficionada of the Escada summer scents, the hard to find tropical punch in particular, I had this preconception of a sweet gourmand juicy tropical fruit salad dosed with white rum put in a perfume bottle. The deep purple plum color of the bottle in fact added to the singapore sling cocktail expectations.

Now mind you, I had just given Cacharel's Eden one last go, and I was still reeling with nausea, opening windows and scrubbing like a lice infected mutt (oh yeah, who'd want mad sillage when you need it least).
Did the putrescence of Eden still linger on somewhat? As I sprayed and tried it on my wrist and on my clothes, I still had a strong presence of moldy green leaves and litchi and melon, fortunately with less in your face rot. Even so, I decided to give it a rest and review it the day after.

Sooo, the day after:
First impressions: a pleasant and rather discreet scent (a shy sister of the much more complex and stately Dunhill's Desire For A Woman) with a dirty rose streak and leafy spice in the drydown avoiding it to become all too safe and shy. The caramel is subtle since nicely subdued by the greens and herbs compensating for too much cloying stickiness. But above all, non mentioned in the notes, I smell gooseberries and cloudberries: the Nordic yellow raspberries.

So imo the fragrance is more tart and cold floral than the bottle would suggest. One hour in, the spices even provide a far away reminiscence of Délice d'Epices (Les Belles de Nina Ricci) but without the citrus and cinnamon.

All in all: do not let the Escada fruit salad association or the plum bottle detract you: this is actually a very affordable balanced scent, overall much more intricate than the Escadas of the summer collection fame and the bottle colour would convey, largely due to the important presence of greens and whites in the berry concoction.
Given the limited sillage and longevity, a safe shot for work too.
Overall a like, but not a love.

Jacob1984

This is gorgeous, I don’t normally like gourmands or fruity scents. That being said, I have been enjoying a few fruiter/gourmand type of fragrances lately!! Maybe my taste is changing in fragrance.

Cosmina07

The first minute I can feel straight away Pink sugar from Aquolina, but on my skin it transforms in a green scent just with a pinch of juicy sweetness and some dried flowers, nice

haylinr94

On my skin, it smells very, very cheap and of rhubarb. literally, I smell like a giant rhubarb. For some reason, on my skin, all this notes make 1 giant one: rhubarb, which happens to be one of the notes that I hate from the bottom of my heart. Now, I am stuck with a huge bottle of perfume, because when I tested this in the store, on paper, I loved it very much. Gonna test it to see how it goes on textile. Maybe it will be better.

Nancy83

A greenish fruity sweet scent. I don't hate it, it has notes that I love, the powderyness of the perfume is nice, but for me it lacks a crave factor, I found it a bit generic, the performance average. It was on discount at the drugstore so I wrist test it. I might retest it one day because it's cheap and easy to wear, but for now I pass.

LEM922

This used to be my signature scent in high school, around 15 years ago. Now, from what I understand, the formulation has changed since then ... or so I have read.. but I’m not entirely sure. I will say, I really truly liked this fragrance... and I’m a person that hates patchouli and most perfumes that include this note, but I always loved this one. It made me feel sexy, vibrant and grown up... maybe not ideal for a 15 year old, but it just had this fruity brightness, and it was sweet and caramel dripping yet had these crisp green overtones that kept things fresh. It had a lot going on, but it worked. If I ever happen to run into a bottle, maybe I’ll pick it up... for nostalgia factor.

karlee79

Exact dupe is Paris Hilton Can Can

ggdan

I used to wear this as a teenager and only recently tried it again. It's actually really nice. On me, it's quite powdery from the get-go and the sugary caramel is dominant throughout, but there's enough greenness to it that it's not cloying. I wouldn't say it's a warm and cozy scent, personally, it's quite "bright" smelling to me.

panthererose

I purchased this fragrance yesterday and back home, I saw that it was made in Germany. I own one that already that was made in Uk and I am wondering if both are authentic? usually Escada fragrances are made in France even I know that it is a German brand. Can anyone help me? thank you

Woodamber

I repurchased Escada Magnetism after 13 years. I had this one when I was 14 years old and I did not like it at all then. It was just too much for me.
Now 13 years later I have to admit that I do like Magentism, a lot!
I guess I needed some time from it first.

On my skin it starts off with strong notes of red berries and some bitter green notes. It's not really fresh I would say. More of a warm character. And it's quite chaotic at first with that cocktail of fruity, sweet, bitter and warm. This definitely how I remembered Escada Magnetism from my teen years. But now I actually enjoy progression of it.
It gets powdery in the dry down which was a pleasant surprise for me. Then on my skin I got some sweet caramel and patchouli with a hint of a vanilla and I do get some sandalwood in this. The red berries are still there but they get less prominent with time. Most of the time I get caramel and patchouli. In the end of the 8 hours I only get caramel on my skin. It's really sweet. For a moment I thought that this could be a fruity berry version of Prada Candy haha

It's a great joy to find beauty in things I have earlier turned away from. But also very fun to know that fondness of scents can come with time and situation. Now 13 years later I have learned to love Escada Magnetism.

chltdelux

its just a 5 out of 10 it simple runs away after 1 hour.. i do not recommend this it smells ok just zero performance

Lalouve<3

Having smelled this a few years ago and really liking or that berry gourmand sweetness, I am genuinely surprised receiving my perfume a day ago, first spray I pick up a realistic pomegranate note, which is nice and unexpected, and after a couple of minutes this turns into a soft creamy white floral scent with the fresh juicy pomegranate smell always present*I will check the duration and projection of this perfume as I wear it today and edit my review accordingly adding more info about it. I can definitely say so far that this is an inoffensive perfume, nice, soft, subtle and suitable for everyday and office wear and also suitable for hot weather. I would definitely categorise this as a clean carefree perfume (with neither green nor citrus nor aquatic notes -thank God-) and for that alone it is a big like from me so far. Will edit later for a more complete review ;)

EDIT: this is unlike any perfume I know-I have never encountered that realistic pomegranate smell on any other perfume and I am genuinely surprised that it isn't listed as a note as well as on all the other notes listed that I really don't pick up. To me the notes listed make sense on the first time I had smelled and tried on this perfume many years ago. It was really that well known berry tropical caramel perfume we all recognise on the Escada line.

But this one -which I can only assume is a reformulation- doesn't seem like the Escada line of perfumes most of us know, in fact, it resembles the Kenzo line of perfumes- soft, creamy special and inoffensive.

Projection is really soft on this one, and unfortunately the only thing that resembles Escada here is the longevity which (tested in hot summer weather) is indeed poor. I don't know, maybe it is that pomegranate note, maybe I want this one to linger, but I will test it in winter and let you know how this projects and lasts in colder weather.

All in all, I am mystified with this one...

Dame123456789

my favorite perfume, i love it but my new bottle doesn't last on my skin, i'm disappointed :(

Passionflower

This one is way too sweet for me. I smell a lot of caramel. Not my cup of tea at all.

nurism96

When i got this perfume many years ago, i was looking for that caramel note everybody was talking about. When i sprayed it, i couldn't get any kind of sweetness unfortunately. I don't know why, but i never liked this perfume. I am a gourmand lover, but this perfume to me smells very very weird. All i get is a fruity powdery note. It is almost green to me, not sweet. It's a shame because i really wanted to love it but i couldn't do it.

Amy Ann

It is a reinterpretation for the Escada Collection, the perfume made after the death of M.L. which announces the desire of some "revolutionaries" to change the spirit of Escada. The old Escada was a failure because at that time the Escada clientele was still the high end career women, so to speak. Now sure when they managed to destroy Escada and make it an another brand of "wives" and mistresses it is seen that it was successful.
It's sweet, generic perfume, nothing wow, I don't think it can be worn by a strong and vibrant woman even on the market.

mellyv1973

Starts off a bit green and clean. Then it becomes a fruity, fresh shampoo-y scent. I don't get caramel. Just fruits, vanilla & a light dash of woody rose. Moderate longevity with a soft sillage off my skin. It's a like, not a love for me.

Miasha

I know there have been a lot of summer fling fragrances through the years from Escada, and they have all been more or less lovely, as I tried them in the perfume shops! But since I have always been on a restricted budget, I never bought any of them, only this. For me at least, this is the original...
At first when I tried it on, I thought it was a little childishly sweet for me, with all the berries being very prominent. But it grew on me... I started to feel the green notes more, and to love the berries. It is not only the blackcurrants, it is the leaves as well. And the caramel to go with that... oh, it is just so lovely!!
Normally, I don’t like fruity fragrances much - but this!! My my...
I hardly ever wear this in the colder seasons, but I love it so much as the happy summer fragrance it is! One of my favourites in that genre; I will always have it.

aldinatic

This is for anyone who wants to make a throw back to the 90 s :)

MichelleMoon

Escada summer releases were my entry into the world of perfumes. I will always love them, however, I've been moving away from simple fruity scents lately. So when I saw this one on sale for $19.99 at SDM I was conflicted. I am so glad I talked myself into buying it with my optimum/loyalty points. Other than the fact that it is sweet and has a fruity opening, it is unlike Escada's summer releases.

This one has much more depth and complexity. It is heavier and more mature. From the top notes to the finish it evolves and keeps me interested.

It's sweet and delicious, but also powdery, floral, and woody, and musky. Excellent longevity. I wore it overnight, and in the morning I could smell the wood and musk. Just gorgeous. Excellent value for $19.99

juniemoon

I bought Magnetism last winter and squirrelled it away for spring. I broke it out this sunny April day. Wow, I love it! Fresh, fruity, green, floral and caramel sweet. I really am able to sense each of these notes separately. They're not fighting each other, they're all playing together mischievously, dancing around on my skin. I really have nothing like it in my collection, it's so unique. For me it was a great blind buy!

temo

This one is odd. It seems like they threw every note under the sun at it. Maybe in hopes of appealing to everyone? But instead appealed to no one? I don’t hate it. I quite like the oddness of it. Makes me think of someone wearing two mismatched socks and an inappropriate hat.

kmharvey989

How delicious do all of the notes sound?
I truly thought I would smell like I had just been picking fruit, juice smeared on the side of my face.
Walking on a warm cobblestone path in some swanky seaside resort town, warmth on skin, breeze through hair. Cheesy enough?

The truth on my skin reveals public bathrooms!
I honestly get port-a-loo where the plastic outer has been warmed by the sun. That's just the opening.
Then...someone's been smoking a ciggie, and tried to freshen up with toothpaste and impulse spray.
What a bizarre mint note, it's strong but fleeting, but leaves an almost antiseptic residue?
The sweetness of this hurts. Super cloying.

Stuck in a port-a-loo in the middle of summer!

Each to their own, but this certainly doesn't work for me.

iris_iris

The new one without the little logo on the bottle doesn't last whatsoever.

And even if it did I wouldn't use it because it's a total mess! Smells like watered down old Magnetism with a ton of plastic and dirt... :( im sorry

Tasali

Initial spray is green and a little bitter. It gets sweeter but not the sweet-sweetness I hoped for, it is green-sweet and more fresh than I expected.
I like it. Lasts for days on fabric.

Vikki1985

This is just WIERD, not in a unique beautiful way, but just that, .. plain wierd. A hint of flower bomb, a hint of mint and a hint of plastic, that is all you get. Forget the other notes, they do not exist in this perfume. I'm going to gather that this has been reformulated, purely because of the difference between what I'm smelling and what others are smelling. It isn't disgusting but it also isn't good and it especially isn't as good as the reviews suggest, nowhere near.

I was expecting something similar to what another reviewer was expecting, a beautiful rainforesty type scent with a hint of caramel, something exotic, but all I get is blah

DaysofaGoddess

Blind bought at Shoppers for $20 for a 50ml bottle. I got dizzy and almost choked. Too strong and too powdery for me. I should have opted for the Loverdise instead.

babyrose1985

This review is only based on the sample that I have just bought this week -

This perfume is plain wierd, it doesn't smell wierd..but it's wierd as in it smells absolutely nothing like the notes would suggest and it smells nowhere near as amazing as all the phenomanal reviews, just NOWHERE near. I've never seen this many amazing reviews of the same perfume before on here, usually it's a bit of a mixed bag so naturally I gathered that this would be incredible - it isn't. The notes also look mouth watering and even though too many notes can sometimes ruin a perfume I was so intrigued to try this. I was expecting a fruity, juicy, mouth watering, exotic scent with a very slight gourmand twist with a pinch of green from the basil, it had me imagining a beautiful jungle or rainforest with bursts of colour and waterfalls and beautiful green trees and lush colourful flowers..that is nowhere near what I get...

What I get is a sort of soft powdery-ish scent that smells like a hint of flowerbomb only less thick, deep and sickly with a hint of mint, not like toothpaste mint that makes you're eyes water but a toned down mint (I'm assuming this is the basil. That is literally how this smells...nothing like I imagined. You might aswell forget every single other note that is listed, all you get is what I assume is the caramel and basil, I have no clue how all of these different notes are in this perfume, none atall because they are non existent.

Once I got over my initial disappointment I still gave this a fair shot, it isn't horrible, it is just a bit "blah", it is nowhere near as amazing as the reviews or notes suggest, infact it's not even "good" which is the most shocking part..It's just an ok scent, it isn't even that unique, it's unique in the sense that I've never smelt anything like it before but that doesn't make it special..as it dries down it kind of turns in to a hint of plastic, it still smells the way I said above but a hint of plastic comes into play.

Overall I'm shocked at this scent, some reviews have said that this could have been reformulated, if so then that would explain why my review is so different to everybody else's but if it hasn't been then I have no clue how so many people are so in love with it x

mevans

This to me is sweet and sensual but still has a lightness to it. I don't get the basil. The caramel and vanilla give it a warm and delicious scent. I do like this perfume. It has a similar caramel/vanilla/berry accord to JC Gold Couture and that one is a man magnetic. Magnetism has a lot more notes going on but the caramel/vanilla/berry is right up front and stealing the show so that's where they come to such similarity. Very nice gourmand.

Prettyprettysunshine

This was a blind buy and I really wanted to like this fragrance. From spray to dry down, it makes me nauseous. It's in the donation pile.

Eugenia Olesen

This is the best Escada fragrance in my opinion. Crispy caramel vanilla happy optimistic smell. It plays beautifully on my skin and clothes. Quite long-lasting (5 hours at least) and comfy for a fall-winter period.

justchillinxo

Definitely unique, and beautiful. Fresh and warm at the same time. To me it smells WAY better on skin than paper.

blake.lee

Sampled this today and my husband walked in the room and asked if I smelled marijuana! He then went to the window to see if the neighbors were smoking pot outside, but the windows were closed. Turns out it was me. This perfume smells like marijuana to him. Must be the green notes, lol!

gweyslabao

I discovered Escada Magnetism when my mother was gifted a set. She doesn’t use shower gels so she gave that one to me. After my first use, I thought: (1) I should get the perfume, (2) I should get a husband after #1. There are fragrances that you plan to wear on your wedding; this one you plan to wear on your honeymoon.

Dort0625

So on my usual Shoppers Drug Mart trip smelling fragrances I stumble upon this on the $19.99 rack, I was PUMPED! Not only do they only sell Escada when the new yearly summer release comes out, but they charge an obscene amount of money for it. But I had this feeling it may not be the summery ones I love so much, the name just didn’t strike me as the usual releases. I snuck one of them open, they don’t have testers of the fragrances on the 19.99 shelf, and yeah it was gross. It smells nothing like it’s described, I smelled no vanilla, no fruit, nothing at all nice. Almost like old, spicey, expired cheap body spray. It was awful. It stuck around in my nose all day too.

KHunton

Escada Magnetism is gorgeous in it's own unique way.
I'll be honest, I initially bought it for the pretty bottle since the 3 times I tested it I was left feeling confused about it every time.
Its no wonder I was confused if you look at the huge list of notes!
EM starts off a bit tart & green but somehow sweet at the same time.
The dry down is a lovely soft green floral that lasts ages.

sydneychantelle

Bought today as a blind buy, for others wondering, my bottle does not have the logo but is indeed authentic. Lasting power is decent, I can get a close whiff 6 hours after first application. I love the geometric bottle, it is unique but at the same time reminds me of the Givenchy Irresistible line, it is hot pink that gets darker as the bottle progresses from bottom to top. I sprayed it and was impressed upon first spray but could really smell the basil as it opened. It smells almost like a "mountain fresh" "forest fresh" laundry detergent. It is a fruity green which I had never smelled before. It is girly but something about it "weighs" it down, the greenery is significant if you are a sweet, gourmand lover only. I was trying to think of what it reminded me of on first smell, and it reminds me of Britney Spears Fantasy with green notes, that is probably the best way to describe it. The blend of green and sweet is very unique and I am glad that I purchased it since I have nothing like it, but if you are ONLY interested in sweet fragrances, this has too much green in it for you to enjoy, most likely.

lilysong24

Bought as a blind buy, just arrived today. Put a little on my wrist. Light sort of powdery soft floral. I found it “ok”. Could not think what it reminded me of. Then I realized it smells like a light Flowerbomb or a much lighter Vince Camuto Vince Camuto. Unfortunately I intensely dislike those two. Magnetism doesn’t give me a headache like the others. It’s a nice fragrance, I can see why many might like it, but it’s not for me. I think it must be the jasmine, as it’s in all three fragrances.

Sammargaret1

@tc1203, I just purchased a new bottle from Shoppers Drug Mart and it also does not have a label. I bought it because of the positive reviews here, but I'm not really getting the hype. I don't get caramel or vanilla at all. At first spray it was a stinging bug spray/vinyl sort of smell and now it's a sugary sweet patchouli scent (about 2 hours later). I will have to try it again another day. It was about 10 degrees Celsius here in Ontario, Canada today with a colder wind. Maybe we got dupes, who knows.

tc1203

I just bought this perfume on Ebay and my bottle 75ml doesn’t have logo on it. Does anyone have the same thing? I also had a look on Escada website and the bottle didn’t have logo on. Not sure if I got genuine one

LilyWhite14

This scent is just so perfect. It's sweet, complex, versatile, and unique. It's cool and warm at the same time. It's sweet and fresh at the same time too. I smell the vanilla and caramel but not in a heavily gourmand sense. I don't always want to smell like a bakery (but sometimes I do) and I don't always want to smell like grass and trees either (but sometimes I do) and this scent somehow finds a balance between all of those things. Great sillage; I get a floral powdery note at one point but so nice and not overwhelming. I have tried so many caramel fragrances thinking they might capture the note like this one does, but they don’t and I always come back to this one. .

racholo

I adore this perfume.
It is sweet caramel goodness with green notes and basil, and a touch of musk. A unique combination, quite different in the best way.
It evokes warmth and comfort, whilst simultaneously being sensual and powerful.

dglightblue

escada magnetism
summer test one spray to chest, humid but cooler than usual

hmmm, i think i need to test this on my arm.
first off i felt this was a 'quiet' fragrance, and it had something sour in it - not lemony sour, but flower or some other subtle fruit sour.
i almost got a gentle tobacco note running through the other notes.

i can get the caramel now, and its mixed slightly with the other gentle sour and tobacco notes.

i am testing another scent on my arm which is in a different place, but i think its too loud for me to totally explain magnetism.

magnetism is definately not a gormand, edible at all, its not a loud sweet scent.

Flemeth

This was one of my signatures when I was around 10 years old. The intense sweet and fruity notes got old quick and I never repurchased it.

gwmagic77

I would love to try the original version everyone is talking about. If anyone has a bottle they would like to swap or small sample please dm me :)

NotesRev

Got this offered on Christmas, it smells nice but it's nothing special, it's very fruity and you can smell the patchouli wich is a note I don't like but in this case it's tolerable. I will wear this on work days and save the ones I love for special ocasions.

kati77

This is sweet, sticky oriental sweet.
Longevity of this perfume is huge. And from the begining til end there is a super sweet alcoholic note. Dont know from with fruits it comes from, mixed with caramel sure. I will not wear it, thou i had sample to discover it.
One of first gourmands in my opinion, that mybe started whole boom for those kind of scents.

MrAbbas

Upon initial spray, i absolutely hated it. It smelled so green and grassy, just exactly like wet fresh grass. But 2 minutes later, it started to get sweeter and sweeter and here where its beauty shines. It became a very nice scent that is so comforting yet attention grabbing sweet spicy fruity scent. Its not a great performer at least on my skin, projects for 2 hours then quickly sets into a skin scent by 3rd hour its gone. I think its versatile scent but more into a fall scent or night out. The first day on wearing it I got a compliment from my male boss saying that my perfume taste is really nice and second one from my crush who said i smell feminine (Bingo... lol).

Its affordable, comforting, sexy and gets compliments. What more care we ask for!!! Oldie but a goodie

Rosey167

I revisited this perfume and I appreciate it now even more than I did before. My nose is more developed in picking notes and appreciating certain blends. You inhale it in and feel comforted and relaxed yet it plays on your senses. Unlike other perfumes that can be repulsive and heady. This to me is very unique! There is nothing like it with fresh leaves and basil with a sweet delicious base. Its not a sugary sickening sweet smell. Its more of a warm toasty caramel and fruit with a blast of freshness on top. I LOVE IT. Very glad I went back to memory lane and got hold of it again. Very sexy and sophisticated but inviting and friendly at the same time. Makes you approchable in the most beautiful way. My husband smelled it today on me and he was very fond of it.
This fragrance is unique, complex, and sensual, but also fresh and poised.
Such a masterpiece.

Bubbles1964

I have no idea what I'm smelling but file this under sticky sweet. On the synthetic side, Magnetism might wear well on a teenager or young woman. Hard pass for me.

The.notorious.n.a.p.p.e.r

The name, the colour of the bottle suit this perfectly. Hypnotic.

fidele

The only perfume I can wear every day for 3 years, the onlyyyyy. I'm still in love with it every time I smell it. It's sweet, but fresh, sexy but not cheap, warm and inspiring. I simply love it!

Hollis Queen

OK so first of all I blame all the YouTube videos I watched that told me this was a sweet summer... fragrance... I know that everyone’s opinion of a sense is subjective but when you have the majority of videos telling you it smells sweet it smells like pineapples it smells delicious You tend to go with that. I love the packaging I love the box super chic super girly... but the scent?!!! To me it smells like a man’s cologne it’s very strong super powdery .. I don’t pick up any Caramel or any type of sweetness it’s a very harsh smelling fragrance ... and I don’t like it I don’t know how you would smell it before purchasing it but do yourself a favor sniff it first ...

Loredana0108

To spicy: my two 25 ml Magnetism bottles both have the Escada logo on them.

Spicy

Can anyone advise if 25ml bottle supposed to have Escada logo on it? I’m not sure i’ve got a genuine one. Many thanks.

Selena

Oh escada escada... I love how you fill a room, the way you linger out to the hallways. I can trace you with my eyes closed.
This is a perfect green caramel scent.
Best worn in cold weather, tonight's the night I sprayed this on, it's a (follow me I smell good) kinda perfume ;)
Last a good while. There were times I'd smell this the next morning. What a surprise❤️

musenkata

On me this is caramel with green notes. Nice, but noting special.

denizandbeyond_4

The scent of my life!! I adore with this parfume.
Everytime I wear, everybody ask me this scent. When I smelled, I close my eyes and I pass by myself. I can't describe how it's wonderful...
The only negation is parfume bottle. The color is good but It could be better bottle for this amazing scent.
Sweet / Fruity , fascinating, ravishing fragrance!
It's like magnetism, yeah...

imacityknight2

A very interesting and unique mix of notes. I love how fruity it is. How BERRY it is. It borders on medicinal but is just sweet enough to not take that medicinal dive. I love mixing it with Aquolina’s Gold Sugar. The fruits mesh very well and the scents compliment each other very well!

cosmeticdiva29

Smells wonderful an expensive version of pink sugar, however I prefer pink
Sugar because of its longevity. I hate perfume in which I have to keep applying. Don’t have that problem with pink sugar

addiehominem

Magnetism, what an odd duck. This made it to my test list after a night of craving simple, summery, fruity fun scents and learning about Escada. As luck would have it, I was able to get it in a blind swap with another Fragrantician. I felt a little hesitant about the notes after being put off by Jimmy Choo (another fragrance with gourmand and green notes), but I hoped for the best.

First, I don't get a ton of green in this at all. It smells somewhat fresh, not grassy. Just clean and a little wintergreen. It's obviously sweet, but not overwhelmingly rich or screechy. Magnetism has a nice balance, and I think that's what makes the discordant notes work. If it were less well-blended, it might be a hot mess. The magenta bottle matches the fragrance because of the berries at its heart, and the berries are, to my mind, the star of the show. The fruits are the glue between facets of fresh and sweet: juicy ripe berries still attached to softly fresh green leaves.

It smells surprisingly good to me, a sweet scent that makes you feel clean and not sticky. I think this would appeal most to people who like fragrances that are a little eccentric and offbeat.

Taxidermy

From hate to love. It always seemed sickly sweet, cheap and nauseating to me. But something has changed. It might be related to the fact that over the years I've come to appreciate sweet scents. Now I can see that there are more facets to it. It's slightly green and spicy. It seems much more mature and balanced (I know the scent hasn't been changed, but my perception of it has changed). Love the magenta bottle!

AnitaHendricks

This is a typical Escada perfume but it's not too young. A sensual, grown woman could wear it. It's sweet and warm with a slightly woody, vegetable twist. There are many notes but the result is nice and cohesive. I like it!

dipisor

I love the opening, so green and sweet as well, but unfortunately it quickly turns into some sweet fruits...a bit too common. It lacks uniqueness.

P.S. Well...unique or not...I bought it, cause it turns out I like it. It's not love yet, but I'm sure it will grow ;) There's so much goin' on in here, but that's the beauty of it. I might say it is weird in a good way. Different, special and complex. Really intense. Great longevity and sillage.

And I really think the one I tested in Sephora was a bad lot or it was a reformulated one... Cause what I got is nothing like that common sweet. On me, it is green and sweet at the same time all the way.

What's with all the reformulations these days, people?! All those beauties...lost! Let them be as they were, please.

(I really crave for an older Insolence...)

brendacarmen

by far one of my favorite perfumes.. I have been wearing it for almost ten years. first time I smelt it I was hooked. It just smells of pure candy but it is not synthetic candy or sickly candy sweet. just right. if that makes sense. this perfume for me is a perfect night out perfume for sure. the staying power is strong lasts all night . every time I wear it men will compliment me. "what are you wearing" they ask. " you smell so good" lol. every single time . definitely a perfume that is true to it's name. .. I absolutely love it :)

personagrata

I love the opening of this perfume , which is green and sweet at the same time,it got a good balance. There is patchouli, green leaves and basil mixed with the sweetness of whatever fruit , which makes it exotic and "industrially natural", if that makes any sense, there is a juxtaposition that works well.Mind you, I am a great fan of patchouli and natural smells, but the opening of this makes me want to immerse myself into this "unhealthy" plastic perfume. It has the character of Gucci Rush.
Too many words about the opening but only one about the rest of it and its end... Then it comes the caramel... THE CARAMEL... to me there is only caramel and again caramel, which makes it plain, simple and "trying - too - hard - to be - sexy" and that s it. I don' t like it anymore. This is why , one year now I try to finish my 25ml bottle! And I think that I have never worn it in public, only in my house. I don't know, there is something in the developement of the fragrance that I find a little bit embarrassing and sorry to say that, I cannot explain it, maybe a little common, too fashion that becomes at last old fashioned? I really cannot explain the feeling.
I must admit it has great longevity, it sticks with you and good fixation… One of the main plus to the fragrance and I suppose this must be a hit with guys who usually don’t say no to a good old sweet uncomplicated fragrance. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t say that with a bad way, since I too don’t say no to a good old spicy woody men’s fragrance, uncomplicated and plain or not.
Besides, attraction and magnetism is not about complexity and sophistication, isn’t it?

mellymel10

This is one of my favorite scents in my collection. Magnetism is a great name for it. It draws you to it and draws people near. I love that initial leafy green opening and then the soft sweet gourmand drydown. It's very addicting. I love it.

SailorV

Escada Magnetism is such a nostalgic perfume to me. I never had it, but it has such a distinctive scent that reminds me of the early/mid 2000s. Sometimes the fragrances I never had but always wanted make me the most nostalgic.
Miraculously, this is still available, and the bottles in store don't smell much different from my mysteriously old sample.
It's a loud and strong green gourmand perfume, unlike any modern gourmand.

The initial blast is fresh, green, fruity and a bit sweet. The sticky sweet caramell joins soon and becomes the main player. Green notes, basil, berries and currants are close seconds. Most of the other notes are there in small doses and round off the scent: Vetiver and patchouli add darkness and a bitter note, benzoin balsamic warmth, melon and lychee bring sweetness and freesia some floral sharpness.
The drydown smells of caramell, red berries and rose and lasts basically forever.

milk_in

Very interesting, sweet and warm fragrance, name "magnetism" suit it so well!
First sniff is very almondy, but it fade away quickly. Caramel and vanilla are really strong in this, but those berries gives a hint of nice freshness, and make it versatile. I really like that this have also some depthness, and it gives me almost like intoxicating feeling.
First two hours it is strong and even little bit aggressive, but when it calms down, I love it. Lasting power is good, about 8 hours or longer.
Maybe not so summery scent, but really nice to autumn and winter months.

MyersAlice

Not what I expected it to smell like at all,
it's alright, kinda cute. I enjoy it.
But nothing special to me.
It's quite.. stingy sweet?

Rosepowdery

The most beautiful harmony of the freshness and the sweetness in one cute bottle.

comptemooc

Too powdery and very overwhelming. I hate it

Lateashia

Blind buy, and I must say it is beautiful. While Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf is my all time favorite, this Escada Magnetism is up there in my favourites. I am wearing it right now and I plan on wearing it again tomorrow at my mothers early Mother's Day lunch and dinner. I can already picture my mother and sister in-law complimenting the scent and wanting it too.

drklttllght

There is nothing sweeter than coming across a perfume you've forgotten about and had dismissed then realizing you love the crap out of it. Delightful. Smells like someone decided to make Daisy more complex and with better lasting power. Though this came out first.

It is swuh-eet to me but the green in this fragrance steals the show. I get banana leaves, Daisy essence, caramel among the foliage of a tropical jungle mixed with a dash of the wet soil after it rains. There is a medicinal/herbal tinge to it but that just makes me love it more. I get little to no fruit on me but I'm a-okay with that.

Definite all year round gourmand. This is Mother Earth voluptuousness. It's a love for me.

OTA Mom

I could love this one if it weren't so much patchouli. Typical fruity Escada offering otherwise.

hyperfluff

Never could like this one, and I tried, I did, I had an ex who loved this scent, so I'd make myself wear it once in a while to make him happy. The reason why I dislike it is the strong medicinal opening, it reminded me of raspberry flavored cough syrup and it stays that way for more than an hour. I smell the basil, but I also smell licorice (or anise?), bitter and stale. Something in it smelled sharp. It's an odd candy sweet. I love green scents and I love sweet scents, but I don't get the green aspect, it's just medicinal syrup-sweet. I also enjoy licorice in floral/powdery scents, but mixed with sweet, juicy fruits..no thanks. I swear I thought licorice was in there. The dry-down that follows a few hours later was really nice though, after the weird notes have passed it turns into a very pleasant caramel-vanilla with abit of raspberry (kind of like the drydown of Pink Sugar). By that time though, it's gotten close to the skin. That used to frustrate me. This scent's vibe reminds me of the more complex, bittersweet fruity gourmands of the 90's (Lolita Lempicka, Angel, Wish...love them all, so it may sound strange that I would dislike this), but Magnetism is all dressed up in girly hot pink. Well, there are better sweet caramel/vanilla scents these days that won't make me wait hours to finally get to the good stuff.

savageinstrangeland

I have never really been a huge fan of Escada fragrances but this one is actually pretty awesome! It's really complex for Escada. But it is also proportioned well and blended beautifully. It is sweet, but the greens, powdery effect, & fruity freshness reign it in and pull it back from being "too youthful" for a woman my age. The Benzoin, Musk, & Sandlwood give off the most beautiful, feminine powder scent in the dry down that is quite addictive. Longevity and silage good, price excellent! Zero complaints. I will say though this was kinda a guaranteed like for me because I love "green" perfumes and sweet, powdery fragrances. If you don't like either of those "types" don't blind buy this because it's 50/50. I would also recommend not judging it solely based off the first spritz. This perfume has a distinct evolution. When I sprayed it the very first time I literally thought, "glade air freshener." It smelled EXACTLY like a room spray I had called Cashmere woods. Like, that was the association my mind went to. But within two-five minutes that was long gone and it had become something I would actually want to smell like versus something I'd want my bathroom to smell like. lol

It is worth a test for sure. I noticed the majority of voters call this a Cool weather fragrance but it actually does best on my skin in warmer weather. It really shines if allowed to simmer on my skin under the late spring or early summer sunshine. Other people (even strangers) seem to like this even more than I do. I've been stopped twice by people inquiring about the perfume I'm wearing. And it was funny because one was a man and when I told him "Escada's Magnetism" he replied, "Magnetizing indeed!" So that kinda says it all.

I am deeply in love with this perfume! I don't know what's happening lately with me, but I started to adore the combination of berries with sweet notes like caramel, pralines or vanilla and with a little drop of patchouli, iris or other ingredients that usually give depth to perfumes. This perfume starts with a sour note and it becomes really fast a sweet-gourmand fragrance. But the special effect comes from the green notes, which are not letting it to change into a sweet mess. Those notes are really recognizable from the start until the end and they're transforming it into a mesmerizing scent. I see it been easily worn by women of all ages, it makes me feel so sexy and confident, it's amazing!

Love this perfume. Reminds me of cotton candy.

vattenmelon

this perfume is a bomb! it smells dark, expensive and green, and the sweetness is very *Not "cancan" or "pink sugar" sweet* its much more an elegant sweetness, very sexy and a bit daring. some say its too green for them but i think it is a very well balanced perfume.the fruityness/sweetness is mixed perfectly with the greengrass smell. its a rich unique scent.

PinkRainbow

Very complex and appealing. It has it all -- flowers, spices, and fruit. Nice balance. I like it!

Nikki24

Very sultry, fruity, vanilla. On the negative side I find it way too powdery.

First of all, I have never in my life seen so many notes before! This one seems to be all over the place! I was very excited about the caramel, amber, and melon. Sadly though, I get none of those at all. On me this starts out as and also dries down to...green notes and lily of the valley. And that is seriously all. SO green on me it smells as if I rolled in fresh cut grass. I sneezed a few times as well. I really was hoping to love it but it really is just not pleasant on my skin.

First of all, I expected sweet fruitiness from this one (as most of the Escada fragrances), but it turned out to be a fruity-green. It's not bad at all - it's just that I don't like the opening, it quite greeny, but in 10 minutes it becomes softer and sweet on the fruity side. It's cool, but it doesn't last long on me.

I must begin this review saying that I don't like modern fruity perfumes. I wanted to try Magnetism because of all the other notes it has that I like, but in the end the synthetic red berries (my mortal enemy) overtook it all. Apart from that, this is indeed a sexy scent, which I discovered the only time a gave it a full day's wear. From a distance the synthetic sharpness gets lost and the perfume smells sweet and womanly (not feminine-elegant or girly-pretty) like it was designed to do.

I first smelled this fragrance on my co-worker. When she told me the name of the fragrance she's wearing, I thought "seriously, it's magnetizing". And it was, it smelled amazing on her. I got the perfume without trying it on me and, well... I hate it on me. It's so sharp, not that much fruity, I do smell some green and a bit of sweetness. The smell does hold well on me but I tend to grab this fragrance when I'm going somewhere casual, just to use it up. I think it can smell amazing on some people, not me, sadly.

I definitely think this perfume is sexy and it is also quite different. This makes me feel that you'll either like it or hate it and it definitely shouldn't be a blind buy. I get the impression that this perfume smells really different depending on who wears it. It's the most long lasting fragrance I own and I often can still smell it even after washing my clothes.

I thought I would hate this one,I'm not into fruity fragrances, also not a fan of green ones, a combination of sour berries and caramel and green notes(which I mostly dislike)looked like a horrible idea but the other day a salesperson insisted on trying it and sprayed it on back of my hand as I wanted to run away,oh boy,it was amazing!
Honestly I didn't have much time to smell it carefully and findout specific notes so I'm going to edit this as soon as I have a chance to retry it,all Iknow by now is that escada magnetism is a real attractive fragrance,I couldn't get caramels but it was sweet, delicious and fruity in a good way,not overripe, syrupy fruits and not sourish, just sweet and tasty,I also couldn't pick up any green, herbal notes, there was just a very fresh, lively green quality beneath it's sweet, warmness
All in all I found it really sexy, delicious, colorful and powerful in a grownup way,and it didn't look like a winter perfume,I think it was wearable year round
I'm gonna edit this ASAP,for now I'll welcome this flashy pink one to my wantlist

I walked into the drugstore, not looking to buy a perfume, but I tried Magnetism on, I liked it right away, and I liked the way it developed on my skin with time. The rose scent is what I smell at first, but later, it's just pure fruit, vanilla and sweetness. Right up my alley!

I've wanted this fragrance for a long time because I liked the notes, even though I had no idea what it smelled like. I eventually got it as a gift. As other members have noted, it does have a lot of similarities with Paris Hilton's Can Can. On my skin, it smells warm/cozy, sweet, soft, cozy, and a bit sensual. I was hoping it would be more green, but there's only a hint of it at the beginning and it fades fairly quickly. It does seem to stay on a long time and like most others, I do see it as more of a winter scent. It also seems like something you might wear on a date or to go clubbing. Overall, a little underwhelmed but I do like it. Not sure if I would get another bottle of it when I am done with this.

Rich smell, powdery, flowery, sensual, daring, sweet, soft, comforting... Everything at once!

If I wear anything nowadays, it is This one.

lulu169

on me this is very green, with a nice bubble gum touch. no caramel or vanilla at all. Im wearing it to the gym

mariamarouli91

I see many of you say that magnetism is a winter perfume. I wouldn't say that. To me, it isn't heavy and very strong at all. I think it has no season and it's suitable for every occasion. I have wore it also at the gym and didn't bother anyone at all!It isn't going to bother anyone if you don't overspray. It's a sweet perfume, but not foody. Dominant notes are caramel, vanilla and musk to me. It becomes very musky and clean to my skin.
