Modern Muse Nuit by Estée Lauder is a Amber Woody fragrance for women. Modern Muse Nuit was launched in 2016. Top notes are Cassis and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Chamomile, Heliotrope, Jasmine and Chinese Jasmine; base notes are Tonka Bean, Madagascar Vanilla, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Amber and Musk.

Modern Muse Nuit is announced as an intoxicating scent that embodies the mystery, glamour and sensuality of a night to remember. Inspired by intrigue and the "noir" theme, the new fragrance explores the deeper and darker side of the original. The floral - woody - oriental composition combines sophisticated floral tones with creamy woods as a contrasting accord.

A "Hypnotic florals accord" contains flowers and berries. The fragrance opens with mandarin and blackcurrant bud. Blue chamomile provides a deep botanical edge to jasmine absolute and Chinese sambac jasmine, all wrapped in creamy heliotrope.

An "Addictive woods accord" balances refined woods with elegant, creamy sensuality. A sandalwood accord is mixed with the Clearwood ™ molecule, capturing the pure warmth of patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla from Madagascar, amber and musks.

The face of the perfume is Kendall Jenner. The fragrance comes in a dark navy bottle with golden detailing, available as a 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum with a make up line under the same name.

Modern Muse Nuit is, without any doubt, the best of the Modern Muse line!

A very heavy, warm spicy, aromatic, balsamic, ambery, powdery deliciousness! God, it’s so strong and so beautiful! This is a powerful perfume, the type that announces your presence in a room before you’re being seen if you get what I mean….

I am astonished that Estee Lauder has put on market something so intoxicating. Their usual scents are more easy going, lighter and crowd pleasers. Modern Muse Nuit smells as amazing as a vanilla niche scent. It’s truly an addictive perfume, smooth, interesting and sensual. What makes this vanilla unique is the combination of camomile, heliotrope, cassis leaf and patchouli. These notes are not strong enough to overpower the tonka beans and vanilla as the star notes, but give them a beautiful contrast and depth. Also, fragrances with patchouli in the base notes seem to be long lasting from my experience!

Performance is strong enough to fill a room with a few sprays. Sillage is moderate to strong and lasts on clothes for days and days.

When I have bought my bottle is was priced well for the quality and the intensity of the scent. From what I’ve noticed, it’s more likely to be discontinued! What a surprise…

Creamy_ambrette

Delicious! If Mon Guerlain and TF Noir Extreme pour femme had a love child it would be modern muse Nuit. I can’t believe they would discontinue this. Rich, sweet I’m a nutty way from the Tonka, slighty smoky and a tinge herbal from the German chamomile. Nice scent bubble with 4 sprays on my arms.
I wish I had a 100ml instead of a 50ml.

notaperfumesnob

Why oh whyyyyyy did they discontinue this?! One of the best Estee Lauder fragrances of all time in my opinion. It's such a sexy, warm, dark vanilla, tonka bean scent and really just delicious.

The lasting power and silage on this perfume is next level. I think it could be unisex too. It's one of my top ten perfumes and i'm truly gutted it's been discontinued.

AngelClaw

Bottle up for swap! PM me ;-)

Elmeriliini

In the same scent family with Guess seductive noir, but not dupe, this is WAY BETTER. I don't think Guess seductive noir saves you if you miss this.

Dexter G

I really enjoy this perfume. Its powerful and sexy and always gets a lot of comments. A long lasting fragrance, I am very aware of the scent at the end of a long day. I think best suited for evening wear anytime of the year or daytime in winter. Still prefer the iconic Modern Muse but this is a very good support act!

TheScentualWorld

@Gyps and Jana711xx - re your concerns with the blue colour this fragrance imparts on skin when sprayed… it’s most likely due to its high 'chamazulene' content, which is an active organic compound produced during the distillation process of Chamomile, that gives the oil its deep, inky-blue colour.
German chamomile (Blue Chamomile) has this compound, I think that’s the one they’ve used.
The patchouli and vanilla will also darken the perfume as it ages.
Absolutely beautiful, sultry, dreamy perfume, one of my favourites!

LiliiiS

unlike others, this isn't a green scent on me. it's all about chocolatey tonka and woodsy vanilla with a lovely hint of flowers. it's opening promises something bold and slightly masculine but it dries down to a soft, gentle and calming scent. it's not among my most beloved perfumes that I keep repurchasing, still I like it very much because it's such a perfect autumn perfume. it has a good longevity but not much sillage.
if you want to buy backups, you need to know that it doesn't age well. it's scent starts to change and go bad faster than other perfumes so try to use it before three years(Estee Lauder Pleasure Delight also ages faster than others).

Ashminxie

This is my absolute Fave perfume it's beautiful. I'm so sad that is now discontinued, cant find it anywhere :(

Becw08

Now discontinued:(

Gyps

It’s nice but for me it’s not strong enough. I like all of the MM line but for me Le Rouge Gloss and Chic are the best ones. Costs a bomb since it’s been discontinued and I had to get it off eBay. Slightly sweet vanilla which is nice, but can’t really smell anything else. Despite all I’ve read about this one it’s just so-so for me, and purely because it’s not strong enough (on me). I also don’t like the greenish blue color it leaves on my skin until it dries.

Spicy

Am I the only one who smells raspberry here? Like a vanilla raspberry dessert, springled with sugar powder and some tonka beans shavings, with a cup of cammomile tea beside. One of my favourites for winter.

DT953

Again, another one I was surprised to love. I mostly blind purchased this today (for $30, no less) after doing a quick spritz on my knuckle. The sales assistant described it as 'something different' and I don't agree, but I do enjoy it nonetheless. It lasts, is that perfect balance between vanilla and floral. Pretty and fun.

Ladyceramic

I have TF noir pour femme and I decided to buy this because of the comparisons as I love NPF and can’t see myself spending on a backup bottle….
Modern muse nuit is 10/10 an exact dupe for noir pour femme no questions asked. It lasts a lot longer too. I’m super impressed!!! Never come across a perfume that’s an exact dupe… spraying them both side by side they are just the same.

UnearthlyApothecary

Nuit leans a little masculine and I love it! It reminds me of a more gourmand men’s scent with cinnamon, woods, and vanilla that I can’t remember the name of for the life of me. I definitely feel this as a night time or going out scent. If you love a heavier woodsy vanilla type scent you can’t go wrong. Fantastic silage, very long lasting

spiderpig

I love it. On me, it's boozy vanilla with spices. Here where I live it's kinda hard to get it, but fortunately I managed to get a 100ml bottle and now I got a 50ml backup. It reminds me of TF Noir pour femme but in my opinion it's better. The longevity is way better too.

CRiche

This reminds me of the discontinued Pleasures Delight by Estee. It gives me the same warm and cozy vibe.

Mistress Eva

Modern Muse Nuit is definitely for vanilla lovers. It is a grown-up vanilla, not the over-sweetened sort that threatens to induce diabetes.

I adore the original Modern Muse and its Chic flanker, so I had to try this one. Nuit smells nothing like its cousins. To my nose it is a standard creamy, well-developed, very-vanilla-dominant scent. As it dries down it gets a bit more complex with the mandarin, tonka, chamomile, and sandalwood coming more into play. I don't detect any heliotrope.

Overall, it smells similar to a lot of vanilla bombs I've encountered throughout my life. Not objectively bad by any means. Not really my thing, either, as heavy doses of vanilla drown out everything else to my nose, like an ingredient in a dish that dominates every other flavor. I'd highly recommend checking it out if you love its main accord, because it is well-made, if not terribly original or tailored to my personal tastes.

Also, my husband really liked this one and found it quite sexy. It definitely has an audience.

Longevity and sillage are on the low-end of moderate on my skin.

Daiiiiiisy

Don’t be fooled by the initial spray, & don’t be afraid of this patchouli (9 times out of 10 I hate it) this dries down to something calm, blue, warm & downright addictive. Every time I smelled my arm I immediately wanted to smell it again. You crave the scent of this perfume.

I can see myself really falling in Love with this one 💙

Seldarius

My first impression of Modern Muse Nuit was very sweet and strangely rather old-fashioned. Maybe not quite Aperge old-fashioned, but 1990s old-fashioned.
It settles into warm, sweet, powdery spices and woods. I can‘t really figure out if I like it.

LSAUG

This is a going out to the club type of perfume. This perfume kind of reminds me of Stash by SJP. I used to own that and loved it but it gave me a headache so I gave it to a friend. It doesn't smell exactly like Stash, that's not what I am saying but they have similarities because they are both very woody and very aromatic. I think both Stash and Modern Muse Nuit are seductive perfumes but not in the same way Youth Dew and Opium are. I own Youth Dew, and Opium love them both and I am Gen X, probably the tale end of their consumer base (Opium has done well w/ the younger crowd w/ their flankers) Stash and Modern Muse Nuit starting point of consumer attraction was Gen X but both smell like they wanted a huge slice of the next generations business as well. The reason I say that is because this is very unisex, it will attract men and some men will also want to wear this as well. And that unisex appeal has been a huge trend in perfume in the last 2 decades and has only grown stronger. My husband even said we could share this perfume and he is right, it is that woody, spicy and aromatic. Opium and Youth Dew are sweeter more floral and use very sweet spices like cinnamon. Anyway if you love Stash by SJP and can't find a replacement at a price you can afford since it is discontinued give Modern Muse Nuit a try. Fragrancenet has travel sprays (I got one to try before I bought a full size) for like $12. This could be the replacement you have been looking for at a price that won't hurt the wallet.

harperpeshhe

For those that wanted to love CH Good Girl but found it just too much, this is her more refined and sophisticated older sister. This is sensual. I get a soft floraly tonka wrapped in a deliciously sweet vanilla. MMN is a soft cloud of sweet seductiveness that lasts many many hours. It is the perfect date night scent for the cooler months.

AnaMaria97

This is a deep chamomile and spicy sandalwood vanilla that leans slightly masculine/unisex. The opening is strong and spicy, but the drydown is gorgeous. Think of a chamomile vanilla tea.
This instantly reminded me of my sister who used to wear TF Noir Pour femme, which I recently purchased, they share that same deep vanilla drydown. I prefer this and it has better performance than TF also.
Seductive, confident, winter scent. Really enjoyed this but will not repurchase.

grapefruit352

This is very-very green scent. (Dark green tropical scent of the humid forest in the warm climate.). Reminds to me very much Banana Republic "Malachite" and Angel Mugler "Aura". Vibe is exactly like that. Slightly sweet- mostly fresh. Dark in a way that this is a dark tropical forest full of exotic lianas. So, the light from the sky cant just pass easily through those plants.

fgamz

This smelt like straight up chamomile to me. Was hoping for something darker, maybe a pepper or ginger would have made this perfect for me, but it smells generic and a bit boring imo. Doesn't wow me, or stand out at all.

SailorV

Truly a sensual "Nuit" perfume, but in my mind, this is more for an intimate setting in front of the fireplace than for wild parties. I think it's the chamomile note that makes the difference, it adds a calming, slightly herbal tone to the blend of vanilla, spicy-sweet tonka and intoxicating jasmine. There is also a short visit of fresh citrus in the opening. Patchouli, sandalwood and a hint of musk support the scent in the base without dominating it.
This flanker hasn't got much in common with Modern Muse, it's more in the vein of Addict, Manifesto L'Elixir and similar nighttime vanilla and jasmine fragrances. I don't find it extremely similar to Noir Pour Femme, but they are distantly related. This has a touch of Mon Guerlain, too. The chamomile in MMN has a similar relaxing feel to the lavender in MG.
It's not a dupe for anything, but if you like the mentioned fragrances it's unlikely you'll hate this.

There is some controversy about the listed notes in the reviews, so I did a little research. The articles about this when it was launched, which are surely based on press releases directly from Lauder, contain all the notes listed on this page (cassis, mandarin, chamomile, heliotrope, jasmine, tonka, vanilla, patch, amber, sandal and musk). But they also brought a simplified notes list into circulation, like many companies do nowadays. In the end, all notes lists are descriptions and not to be confused with exact ingredient lists. But I think in this case the long version is more helpful to get a picture of the scent, mainly because tonka and chamomile are very important in this.
No matter what they really used to make this scent, it's a beautiful creation that I love.

Kubracaliskan11

Oh my god, I love it, it reminds me Carolina Herrera CH woman but not the same.

KowltheOwl

Blind bought this based on reviews here but I get flowers mostly vs. vanilla. I like all the notes but somehow they don't come together for me...too much sweet flowers...not dark enough. I'd call this a floral oriental w/ flowers winning the battle over vanilla. And I am Team Vanilla.

Side note: does not smell like Mon Exclusif/Guerlain

MrsLang

All I smell, on me, is s very sweet vanilla. Must be my body chemistry. A boring one for me. Wanted to love it based on reviews.

Fleurdecoco

I initially gave it a "like" ONLY because its too reminiscent of a plethora of fragrances such as, Dior midnight poison, Mon Guerlain, DKNY delicious night amongst many others. But I do really like it still. I can see myself wearing it (although it reminds me of a mother/aunty figure). Its bold and hypnotic scent wraps you in a warm blanket of feminine sensuality, allure and opulence. Mysterious, yet unafraid to be seen. If I didn't make my point clear enough before, its also has a nostalgic and classic appeal. Sweet and spicy in all the right ways. Ah, I love smelling it on myself, seems to have great chemistry on my skin (as do most dark or "night" fragrances). Would imagine wearing this on a more glamorous occasion for sure - maybe a couple times before I get bored.

boannika

My taste in perfume changed incredibly in the last 2 months, so I was left almost completely unsatisfied and unhappy with my current collection. But this is an exception. It's one of my beloved ones. The biggest compliment getter, too. It's tonka bean heaven! If you kinda liked Good Girl by CH, but you want something creamier, a bit lighter and softer, this is your thing. To me it's like someone spilled a cup of (hopefully cooled down) chamomille tea on someone wearing Good Girl. It's not just pure tonka, but it's got an unexpected chamomille twist to it. Longevity and sillage very decent. P.S. Very random, but i love the colour of the juice!

kkaattjjeess

This is an interesting one! Blind bought the original and hated it straight away, but later received a sample of this version, and it's so much better.

I love tonka bean which is one of the main notes here, so no wonder I like this. The sandalwood(?) gives it a slightly masculine vibe. I think it isn't necessarily a night time scent, could easily be a classy&elegant daytime one.

Edit: this gives me the same vibe as Mon Guerlain (my signature fragrance), they are only somewhat similar in notes, but they both have this subtle, warm, classy, confident and inviting feeling about them.

Jana711xx

Really not keen on this, smells like any generic Sandalwood perfume from the 1980’s...boring boring boring!! Plus when you spray it leaves a blue/green trail behind, this soon disappears but I don’t particularly like the idea of this being absorbed into my skin. Not for me this one. Will finish the sample which I got from Estée Lauder but will not be purchasing a FB

Edit Still think it is really boring but I have decided that it’s not all bad. Would be quite nice to wear to an evening at the theatre, or a formal dinner. Certainly not for a casual evening out. Might buy a full bottle still not keen on the blue green dye

Nijntje

Classy as fuck. Clean, cold, smoky and spicy on a bed of vanilla and flowers. Sandalwood, sandalwood, sandalwood. So impressive. A proper skin scent. Effortlessly chic. A hint of powder developing after the crystal clear opening. The progression of the notes is just beautiful. I hardly ever think a name is fitting, but Modern Muse Nuit is a great name for this scent. It's both modern, mystical and an evening scent.

Not for young girls I'd say. Kendall Jenner seems too young, but as a Dark Swan I can see why that would make sense. On a teen or someone barely in their twenties this scent would translate as dark and powerful. Modern Muse Nuit is quite timeless and ageless, but it's probably ideal between 27-60 when it translates as good taste.

I don't get chamomile or hay on me. There was a hint of it after about 5 minutes but it disappeared just as quickly because this scent is like a dark train passing slowly on a cold summer night. Strangely, it starts out very cool but then heats up as time passes, activating a second wave of smoke and spice. Projection is quite demure, I'd say a foot or so (30cm). It keeps close, like a smoky veil, there for people who lean in. I love it.

Boyfriend immediately took to it and deemed it 8.5/10 "or even higher". I think it's a 9.5/10.

EDIT: 4 years after the release there aren't even 400 votes for it. Baffling. This is pure signature material averaging 4.07/5 and rightly so. Get it while you can.
EDIT2: It's a couple of weeks later and I'm OBSESSED. Smoky sexiness, hallelujah. I love to spray on my hair and skin, because on my hair it doesn't develop much further and it compliments the development on my skin so well, I can't even tell you. It's just incredible. Love love love. Yes, it's an evening scent, but like KathieA, I also wear this when it's hot and I don't care. There's this extra dimension when worn during a heatwave. SO GOOD I CAN'T EVEN.

ClEL

Pure Chamomile on me....

Vanillastorm40

I've reviewed this before n I'm back lol. Ok so I love this frag, so much. I don't like the fact that it is soft n not loud but maybe that's what makes it great. Because, today I pretty much sprayed 1/4 of a 1.7 ouncer on hoping to make it louder n longer n it backfired. It smells soapy now n I hate that. I have jelearnedy lesson n thinking it's the chamomile that us irritating me. Use this w a light hand! It is beautiful when applied normally (my normal 5-6 sprays w a light frag).

JenniferLatifa

Stunning! Great price and it smells expensive! Tonka soft goodness!!!

Vanillastorm40

Smells like Lolita Lempicka Perfume in the darker purple bottle.

NellNellsNose

This is the night time version of Mon Guerlain. A little deeper with the tonka amped up.

Vanillastorm40

This is so beautiful. Awesome blind-buy. If u love vanilla n Oriental scents, this is right up your alley. I also have it layered with Alien Essence Absolue and together, to die for. So happy w this purchase. Smells very rich and more expensive than the $33 I paid for it.

Miss koku

Bu bir tonka bombası bir o kadar vanilya paçuli ve papatya gibi kokuyor.silaji yüksek kalıcılıkta tende 7 saat kadar.kış için ideal diğer mevsimler bana göre fazla tatlı.

Becw08

Beautiful scent.
I'm not really a fan of the original but this is fabulous!
I wear this during the day and at night. I think it works in all weather, too.
Be wary if you don't like patchouli though!
I may have to get an fb of this beauty :)

EDIT: I got an fb and am very glad I did. I've worn this a lot and get many compliments on it

KathieA

Smooth, mysterious, seductive. Is it best worn at night? Probably. Is it best worn in cooler weather? Probably. Am I wearing it to work on an 89 degree day in Florida? Hell yes...and I smell delicious if I do say so myself. It's all about dosing it out correctly depending on the temperature and humidity. If you like tonka and vanilla-heavy oriental fragrances, get a bottle before it's gone, it's amazing.

mevans

This is the perfect perfume for a night out. Sexy and mature. There's almost a hint of masculine probably from the tonka bean, sandalwood and musk. I love it.

louiee

This is really good stuff. Dark, sensual and mysterious. Definetely some dna from the original modern muse.

Sexy and mature scent for adult women who is not afraid to be a little loud.

Heavy tonka, patchouli, sweet vanilla, amber, sandal wood and heliotrope.

Very well blended and highly addictive.

Silage is heavy and longevity is amazing on me.

Love love love.

Valentineee

savvyminx

This fragrance is a Grown. Woman.

Mature but not elderly, complex and sexy. Take it easy with this one, it's powerful at first, and give it a chance to settle into your skin before judging. I almost thought I wasn't going to like it for about the first 10 minutes and then it just grew on me.

The first notes to stand out for me were jasmine and heliotrope, which floating on the heavy tonka and vanilla base cloud was just barely shy of cloyingly creamy-sweet. I picked up on a slight root beer accord fizzing in the background.

Powdery sandalwood dusted on a soft marshmallow pillow rounds it out in the dry down. This is a good one.

KillerBee123

My personal opinion - absolutely stunning fragrance! Different and mysterious. Silage is fantastic on me.

One of the very few fragrances I was stopped and asked what perfume I wear.

ClEL

I get Black orchid on my skin.. which could be a good thing but not on me.

samantham-123

Update:
Anyone that ever reads my reviews can probably see a pattern lol; if I say " I mightget this one day.." It pretty much means that in a few weeks I'm gonna cave in and buy it lol.
I got a big bottle of this online for a good price ( me trying to justify yet another perfume purchase)
Forgot about the comparison to Black Orchid, it never settled on my skin that way again since i tested it in store..
It actually reminds me of a lot of Mon Guerlain but without the lavender.
The tonka bean is heavy here, a sweet nutty vanillic Tonka with rum and something else I can't quite explain..i think its the chamomile; an almost hay- like, dry note that gives some complexity and settles down the sweetness.
I don't wear at night, only because it's not really heavy enough to me for a nighttime fragrance. But I do find myself wearing it a lot during the day and it lasts quite a long time so I'm pretty happy with it. I can't really see myself ever actually getting through the whole 100ml bottle though.

GagMyFrag

I changed my mind after letting this fragrance sit on me for a few days and I can say that it is way TOO SWEET for me, its nauseating so if you're into a candy floss super sweet powdery warm sugar bomb then this is for you.

The tonka bean, vanilla and patchouli is very dominating and squashes any of the other notes out, if I had to smell this on a coworker or a friend often I would get annoyed because just 1 spray of this stuff gives me a headache.

I can't find anything too complex, just a sweet linear fragrance that smells nothing like the fresh florals you get from other MM's. Do not blind buy!!

Ixxy

A bit more sexy and sweet version of Lancome Miracle Forever. Absolutely fabulous. I find opening of this perfume very interesting and pretty addictive. Signature scent for sure

samantham-123

This is similar to TF black orchid without that stuffy pungent... fungus note lol, that i just couldn't stomach.
It opens slightly almondy and sweet then dries down to quite a nice smooth scent. There's definitely a rum note in there, its listed on Estee lauder website as a note and its quite prominent here.
I agree with Iamoir; this list of notes is very different to what's ts listed on the EL website.
This seems to be very much rum, vanilla and jasmine on my skin. Quite nice and i don't usually go for EL fragrances as I've found the ones I've previously tried a little mediocre considering their price. I might purchase this if i find it discounted

gtabasso

So incredibly lovely from someone who is not a big fan of vanilla fragrances. This is a creamy strong tonka with lots of musk and sandalwood, some patch to deepen it and some intricately woven underlying florals. So rich. I'm surrounded by a cloud of comfort.

MoreScentsThanDollars

This is a awesome Tonka perfume, The only reason I parted with it was, I wasn't real keen on the opening note, but I actually regret selling this one because I have very fond memories of the drydown. It's so deep and dark Tonka it's like a elixir maple syrup type vanilla, if that makes sense.
I believe many men who love super sweet perfumes like Animale Animale, A*men ect should sample this.

Update I ended up replacing my bottle because I kept thinking of the gorgeous drydown.
A love for me ❤

obar6084

I tried very hard to like this because I read good reviews. Was not a fan of original because I already have perfumes of about the same scent (Idylle, Narciso Rodriguez Her and Lovely. There are are some slight nuances but if you cannot be bothered to test them all together [I did], they do smell
alike and including the original Modern Muse). Anyway, I spritzed this Modern Muse Nuit and I thought "Hmmm....familiar...". So sprayed Juicy Couture Gold Couture on the other arm and spot on, exact same scent except a slight difference on the dry down. Although both GC and MMN have sandalwood, Gold Couture is caramel sweet, this is slightly woodsier (to make it a little grown-up I guess) but STILL SWEET. It has a better longevity but Gold Couture has better scent throwback. It does not fill a room but you know someone is wearing Gold Couture, it wafts everywhere. Anyway I decided to keep it as I collect perfume of all price points and what do you know, my niece loves it. Since they both smelled the same her criteria was the minimalist bottle design.

elaine ong

Yes, will do, thanks Annie!

elaine ong

Noted Annie..thanks for the suggestion!

Annie_OK

@Elaine Ong: I suggest reposting your question/dilemma in the "Forum" area of the site. Once there, click or tap on "Perfume Selection Tips for Women" and then "Post New Topic."

You will likely get a lot of responses there. Since this area is for reviews, you probably won't get the level of feedback you're looking for here.

mychinarose

Yes yes yes! I love this. Definitely a warm, balsamic, powdery vanilla scent. My only gripe is that it isn't stronger, because I had to douse myself in this and it still stayed so soft! Twelve hours after spraying, however, I can still faintly smell this on my skin and it's very marshmallowy. Freaking yum. This isn't widely available in the U.S. that I can tell, at least not in stores, so I bought mine (blind) online. I'd love to find a body lotion as well but cannot locate at this point. I'm baffled at the reviews that this is strong. I want more, more, more! Anyway, if you love vanilla, this is a must-sniff.

chlorodream

I smelled this on a client once and had to ask her what perfume she was wearing because it was so good. Sadly it worked a lot better with her skin than it did with mine, but it is a lovely fragrance nonetheless - sweet and classy with good projection.

Didn't have the same wow factor on me as I've had with other patchouli and sandalwood-heavy perfumes but it's certainly likeable.

Jola 72

Very cozy and comfortable scent . I am a fan of tonka beans in fragrance and here it is very prominent and I love it . It is warmer Magie Noire to me ...

Soofiya

Estee lauder Modern Muse Nuit has nothing to do with other members of Modern Muse family.I guess it acts differently on different people, unlike others I don't find it much sweet or much floral.heliotrope is easily detectable but there's just slightest hint of jasmine on my skin.true star is tonka bean here, but I can't deny important roles of vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood too.dominant patchouli and sandalwood can easily make me hate a perfume but there's nothing to hate here. It's such a smooth and comforting scent.MMN also has definitely a strong aromatic undertone thanks to chamomile which I find very pleasant.
It's darkish but also powdery and subtle scent reminds me Givenchy l'anje noir and Lolita lempicka l'eau de Minuts(at least the 2013 version which I have).I also agree that it brings Mon Guerlain and TF Noir Pour Femme to mind.not that they smell the same, just that they belong to the same family of powdery, slightly smokey vanilla-tonka blended with some woody and aromatic notes.yes,I feel something smokey here,as if it's blended with a tiny bit of black licorice and myrrh and I find something dark chocolate-like(tonka bean? or patchouli?)and as mentioned by fellow fragranticans something like lavender.
The overall scent is warm, subtle and creamy.yummy but in an adult,non-syrupy sweet way.addictive and seductive as well as cozy and soothing. It's different with routine floral/fruity/gourmand feminine fragrances and I believe that a man can pull it off
Longevity is really good but sillage doesn't past moderate on me.It's better suited for colder months of year.while it's different with my typical favorites,I'm happy to have it and like and crave it sometimes.
It's love it's bottle and it's liquid's color.

The chamomile in this smells like lavender. It's a sweet, woody, amber with a herbal note smelling of a dusty lavender. I also think it smells like honey in the top. The sandalwood and heliotrope become more prominent as it wears. To me, it's the love child of Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme and Guerlain Mon Exclusif.

PinkRainbow

Modern Muse's night-time sister! A dark beauty for the midnight hour that complements the daytime Modern Muse.
Dark amber soothed by gentle camomile make this a gentle scent to navigate into evening. Dark blue bottle so lovely in the light of the silvery moon. Great scent with a nice silage trail.

I used to have EL's Pleasures Delight (which was discontinued) and I LOVED it! My mother-in-law complimented me on it and I gave her my half full bottle, only to find I couldn't replace it. : ( I hadn't realized it was discontinued. For some reason Modern Muse Nuit reminds me so much of that Pleasures Delight I've been missing all these years... it must be the common notes of vanilla, patchouli & heliotrope... I'm enjoying it so much!!

le00000000000

This is the heaviest fragrance I've ever try from Estee Lauder, and I like it a lot. It has some spices, like oriental notes dry down. My drawbacks about this fragrance is it doesn't last that long and feels weird if I sweat like there is glycerin running down through my skin. Like for +$100 it should have like 8 hours wear time with consistent strength but this on the 5th hours it washed out and just like slightly there.

iamoir

Having tested Modern Muse Chic and other Estee Lauder fragrances I thought this time to wear Modern Muse Nuit. See what this one has to tell. Now, I'm far from dissapointed from havind discovered a sweeter Alien Mugler.

The opening of MMN is sweet, juicy and caramelic, mellow like LVEB Absolue flanker, some pungent fruity coctail mess, inbetween grape and pomegranate, nondescript condenced fruity juicy opening. Far from sygary but sweet nonetheless.

Nothing to worry though because at a second phase, the juice turns into perfumey: jasmine, somewhere I sense some orange blossom hints, white floral definitely but honeyed. You don't completely lose the sweet part but don't ever think it takes the whole stage.

Drydown is the heady jasmine with a smokey amber along with a moderate melted caramel feel. At times I also get a vague rubber-car tire note as well. That's what differentiates it from Alien, it's a tad sweeter, of course it projects way less, but lasted up to six hours, which is enough to pass the test.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, I decided to write the fragrance review first, before continuing to the second part of this post, which is to bring some attention to what's happening in the description of Fragrantica for MMN.

I honestly tested the perfume without seeing any information about it, nothing, nada, it wasn't even on my testing list for that day. And what I got as a result did not smell anything like the description above, I mean more notes added, the description adds berries(?), wth? Did they reformulate already?

I don't think so, as I went straight to the official uk site, and the greek too, but that's just a translation of the uk one; also I did not see MMN on the estee lauder.com, I guess that's the USA site. Whatever, they claim that MMN is a floriental to which I wholeheartedly agree, it's by definition floral oriental. And the notes listed are these:
●Rum Accord
●Jasmine Absolute
●Sandalwood
●Musk
●Amber

I'm sorry but the notes arrangement that Fragrantica presents would result into a completely different perfume that's far from what I'm smelling.

lfarinas

I'd say this is a wearable oriental, safe, on the sheer side if you ask me. It's nice but I'm no fan of the dry down on my skin... It just turns wishy washy, barely there after about 2 hrs.

scentnut

Sorry for the duplicate post!

I read the reviews and figured I would give it a go as a blind buy since most people seemed happy with it or at worst underwhelmed. I ordered a small sampler and waited on a chilly day as patch and I have a love/hate relationship on warmer days.

One spray to the wrist and it quickly settled into a warm cloud of deliciousness. Honestly I fell in love almost immediately and within ten minutes I was ready to buy a large bottle. Kind of like meeting someone and knowing you don't know them that well to like them so much but by gosh, you just do! The chemistry just clicks! I waited to see if the patch would grow into a cloying, dirty annoyance as it sometimes does but to my pleasant surprise it stayed linear. Just as when you wait fearfully for your new potential partner's darker, dirtier elements to emerge - but alas what you see (or smell) is what you get! No surprises here but sometimes you just want a straight forward partner eh hem, perfume that reliably delivers and is of some quality!

The chamomile is really the star IMO as it warms up everything and takes the other notes to a new level. I concur with another reviewer in that it is definintely a comforting scent. If sipping chamomile tea under a soft blanket with candles lit had a scent this would be it. The sillage is moderate to strong as only one spray on the wrist reached my nose for hours. It projected a good 8 hours and is still a close skin scent over 12 hours later as I write. It reminds me of some older 80's perfumes - some well done, some a little cheap perhaps, but nonetheless this one is sophisticated.

Though I don't have a Swiss lover to provide feedback from the male perspective as Bee-young-ka so amusingly shared, I did however receive a compliment from a fellow gas station patron while wearing this. I was told that I smelled good and looked beautiful and he offered to throw away the trash in my hand. So that's something LOL.

A safe blind buy, consistent progression in scent over time, appropriate for any environment and day or evening. I just committed to a 3.4 oz bottle! I like that it's not readily available in the U.S. and a bit obscure. I think this one will be my new fall/winter signature for daily wear!

Bee-young-ka

I have already reviewed that I liked this fragrance after testing it while on holiday.
I'm not fussed with the other flankers, vinyl note or not.
I kept my tester strip and sniffed it till it wore out thinking what a great tonka scent.

It finally turned up in the shops out here and I bought it straight away.

On paper I swear I can smell tonka/lavender but on my skin it's amazing, like fine bitter chocolate,

My Swiss Lover who is rarely articulate when asked if he approves of (another) new scent said "This makes me think of when I was young".

This is high praise considering he mostly responds to the question of what does this smell like to you?
"?Parfum?"

I could not be more happy with my purchase, expensive but well worth it.
I could see this being used so often as to become my signature in the future.

Scent 10/10
Bottle 10/10

LittleParfumista

Smelled lovely on the paper. Sadly just on paper... on my skin all I get is tonka, patchouli and vanilla. Overpowering and headache inducing, overly sweet and cloyoing.

I loved the bottle much more than the juice. Too intense.

trompik123

Love ❤️
Slightly sweet incess like (or amber) I like it a lot, elegant cozy not overwhelming, got compliments and I'm going to buy a second bottle soon
For fall or winter
Edit : for me overwhelming is LVEB
It's like vainilla with some dark side

Bee-young-ka

I swear I can smell lavender.

tonka and lavender with sandalwood.

it's the best of the Muse range IMO.

nihalhel

This is amazing! So sexy, warm, attractive and cozy! I feel so happy whenever I wear this one!

Mooniq

A nice Oriental. On my skin I get mostly Tonka, Vanille, Woodsy-notes, Amber, Jasmine & Musk. Not loud, not skinclose neither. Just perfect in sillage and on my skin a nice scent about 6-7 hours. Perfect for every-day-use and with some extra spray's a perfect party-scent. Lovely.

Ljuvlig.

eviastr

After 7 years wearing Burberry London i finally wanted a change!!(although i adore this perfume,i got tired)so since i am very picky when it comes to perfumes i was searching for 1 month (appr.every 2 days) my next perfume...And here i am! Love at first sniff! So happy i found it!

tattoo_ladyk

A lovely oriental perfume, much better than Modern Muse or Modern Muse Le Rouge, which I tested both. However, I only found it, as initially said, "lovely" and without it making a statement. It's a safe evening perfume for a lady in her early 30s, but it won't cause a stir. Very poor longevity.

Miss_Vanity

I swapped a face care product that I got as a gift and I didn't need with this one during Christmas, but I just started wearing it the other day. I wanted something woodier than my usual oriental florals. I think I got it right.
Although I like it a lot, I think that Estee Lauder somehow misses that vibe that's present in pretty much everything french. It smells good but it doesn't exactly smell expensive.
Silage is ok, longevity not that much.
I don't think I will purchase again.

Edemay

I don't think of dark and seductive or young and cheap.
To me this is very much a comfort scent. They same way i see tobacco vanille.
Its got the blend of earth and wood along with a nutty sweetness.
Something i see wearing on cold rainy days or just when craving something cozy and warm.
The only problem is half an hour later the scent had mostly disappeared and all that was left was a kind of fake tan smell. Im going to try this on my skin again next time and hope the skin chemistry goes better because the opening was beautiful.

edit : some similarities with prada amber intense

kjana

as otherd had said, it smells a bit cheap. like one of theose celeb fragrances from the cheap grugstores. this one is trying to look all dark ans mysterous and night-ish but it still comes out a bit cheap-i cannot tell whether it is because of some synthetic ingredients or just the mix. it does not smell bad, and it is pleasantly sweet and warm, but no way i am spending money on it. i believe this one also might be appealing to 20 year olds looking for a night, darker scent, but i am in my 40s and want something woth bit more depth, something more real.

Kolchan

Despite of the commercial, I can't think of this as opulent, dark and mysterious.
I imagine a girl in her early 20th wearing this fragrance. She's happy, she is fun, but she wants to smell a bit more sulrty and seductive. She is tired of fruty-floral and just wants a change in her life, it could be only a perfume, however still a change.

From the very beginning patchouli comes forward and never leaves the scene. It's quite edgy here more like Angel type of patchouli. Then it gets more rounded due to vanilla and tonka beans. Unfortunately, I don't smell any sandalwood and jasmin here, they would make this fragrance more wearable for me.

I find this fragrance very cute, suitable for everybody who loves patchouli based perfumes. Definetely one of the best offerings on the market!

nihalhel

I expected spicier or heavier scent, but it`s not. I like it though. It`s something similar with Burberry Brit notes, maybe tonka and vanilla dose.
It`s easy to wear day or night, summer or winter for me. I can recommend to blind buy, because you can`t find in USA for testing easily.

LIN

I was so curious about this one.. even thought about buying it untested ( which i do rarely..) from eBay. Well i'm glad i didn't. Reading all the wonderful reviews here i got to think that we're talking about something very unique here, and as i finally managed to test it today in my local department store, i was so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I do like it, it is very good actually! But not as good as i thought it would be, and definitely not as special - what i mean to say is that it's a quit mainstream fragrance! Reminds me of the 'Good Girl' from Herrera.. Sweet, a bit balsamic with the tonka bean, but eventually screaming - 'Mainstream'! Just as another member's review here i read, I smell another dull fruity floral perfume, Nothing special..

tiger_greeneyes

I really like this. I got a sample through the door this morning and I'm hooked already. I can already hear my bank manager groaning.

I get sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla more than anything else, resulting in a welcome different take on the more mainstream powdery fragrances. It's nice to have something a little different available. One frugal spray is all it takes to set this scent free, it's big, attractive and it lasts well. This will get many compliments because it's a head turner.

My nose tells me this would be perfect for men too.

All that in one spray! Value for money indeed!

Siv7Stars

I tried this in Boots yesterday and all I got was dull little fruity floral. I am blown away looking at this note list and others comments. I shall try it elsewhere, maybe the bottle was off.. !?

mendosita

I tried it yesterday and oh I'm so loving it! Warm, rich, deep, intoxicating yet not heavy or too sweet. Beautiful, well balanced fragrance. Creamy. Like a liquid cashmere. I got to have it.

singlebilingual

This smells on me like Christmas morning, delicious vanilla/cinnamon/caramel/tangerine/spice/frosty winter air-assosiations. Ideal for cold winter days and cosy evenings/parties with family and friends. Though I really can't picture this on me on a warm summer day because it's just associated with December's cosy gloom and party atmosphere.
Longevity is enormous!! It stays on my wrist even the next evening after 2 showers and many handwashes!!

I can't call this a unique scent, it's another Black Opium/Poison Girl sort of thing, but very well made, with good longevity. Ideal for now (december) if you're looking for alternative to the above mentioned Black Opium.

dormir6

Christmas was in mind, when I tried it. Glorious, smokey, warm, inviting. Something sweet opoponax, sligthly resinous, ambery ligth. Almost gourmand, but grown-up, special, well-behaved, and interesting.
I find it similar to Juicy Couture Gold with less caramell.

Nikkafragrance

Beautiful. Mature sweet patchouli, without being cloying, perfect for night. Superb silage and longevity.Last but not least, the bottle looks very chic.

ScarlettX

It is so spicy and reminds me of Christmas somehow. Tonka bean note is quite nice in it. I also sense sandalwood and vanilla.
The top notes were not that nice, more okayish.
It's much better than the Le Rouge Gloss, which I hated with passion. A total winter scent, suitable for evenings.
It's good, nothing like other Modern Muse scents.

lizzyshreds

I just got this, and once I smelled it immediately reminded me of Goldea by Bvlgari which I've a sample of. Also reminds me of one of Victoria's Secret fantasies from 2016 called Glamour.

Sxaninha

I find it very similar to Tom Ford Noir pour femme :) it remind me immediately of that

sail0rmars

This is the most long lasting perfume ever! I just had one spray on my hand last evening and I could smell it next morning after washing my hands many times, unbelievable! It smells like the air of night, fresh, cool and dark..

epicurean

Minty Mouth is spot on. I have a bottle of 24 Gold and it's almost identical (maybe a little less woody). I liked it, but due to owning 24 Gold I don't need it. It's an oudh-y, sweet vanilla, perfect for cool evenings.

pinkpinion

Thanking Estee Lauder on my bare knees for this

I was looking for something special, something different. Came across Modern Muse Nuit in the pharmacy and fell in love with it. First attracted by its looks, later head over heels with the personality. The bottle is incredible with the blue fluid and it matches the dark and mysterious scent this is. It is feminine with a unisex touch. Modern Muse Nuit has a vibe of confidence and sensuality to it, truly irresistible. It is very outspoken and therefore not for everyone, but according to me and people around me, this fragrance is divine. I can go on and tell you about the notes, yet with a fragrance like this the only thing relevant, is the emotion and feelings it draws out. Honestly, I think it is the best fragrance that was made in years... I have been craving a perfume that knocks me off my feet for a while now and it seems that I found it.

lizzyshreds

Does anyone know when this perfume will be available in the US?

Minty Mouth

Very surprised to report that this is a 90% clone of another - very unexpected - fragrance: 24 Gold by Scentstory.

Seriously, if you've ever smelled that ephemerally hyped middle-eastern fragrance (it's more popular amongst men than women) you will notice the striking similarity right away. Anyone else get this?

sugahuni

Beautiful bottle & fragrance.Projection is great,lingers very well☺.Absolutely fabulous❤

Arlene-Beatrix

At first it's strange, hard to describe. A bit later it starts to be really nice. Pleasantly, softly oriental, with warm heliotrope & sandalwood notes. I wish I loved it, because this bottle is such a beauty! However, I won't buy it just for the bottle.

PinkRainbow

This is a TRUE beauty. Unmistakably has an aura of "night". Very dark flowers and spices, and an enchanted feel to it. A distinctive touch of sweet chamomile. Embraces the freshness of a beautiful exotic evening.

wilma103smiley

Wekk I can't believe I'm only the 17th person in the world to vote on Estee Lauder's new scent! I agree with others that it's a well crafted fragrance in a lovely bottle. Unfortunately, on me it isn't having the same effect on men it had for ance.silina ;( but I am enjoying sniffing it myself!

genny17

So nicely constructed!! I love the smell of Muse Nuit, it has an aromatic vibe throughout, must be the camomille, it has also a freshness, the scent isn't heavy, although it has that oriental undertone..it is a great balance of floral and woodsy notes, never too thick, or heavy..although I am not a big patchouli fan, it works in Muse Nuit the patchouli is present , warm, but not earthy...I don't find it be a dry dirty patchouli like in Angel..this fragrance is rounded and feminine, beautifully crafted, the most interesting of the Muse versions..it is mùch smoother than the TF creations..it envelops the skin of a warm sensuous veil..I find it has some resemblance to Cavalli Nero Assoluto, in the warm woodsy vibe..
Happy to own it!!

Gui76

Very good night scent.
Reminds me a lot of Tom Ford's noir pour femme and has some resemblance with Black Orchid, too.
Seems to me a more wearable version of the above mentioned perfumes, as it is rounder and softer.
Excellent longevity: on my skin lasted more than 8 hours!
Worth to try!

OlfactoryLover

A very modern fragrance from the house of Estee Lauder. The notes blend beautifully together and I can definitely smell vanilla and jasmine with a dirty patchouli smell (smells amazing). Longevity is average and sillage is enormous for the first 2hrs but now it is a skin scent which still smells like vanilla. It smells like a dirty Thierry Mugler Angel. This is a good thing I promise.

theredpony.1

Will def be trying this one.

Elsee

Lucky post right before me. Can't wait to try this! Sounds amazing.

SeducedByPerfume

Got my hands on this precious beauty and oh my god, this is so dark, sensual and addictive! The first day I sprayed it my boyfriend went totally crazy and complimented my great fragrance 5 or 6 times! And now EVERY time I spray it he goes absolutely crazy and keeps sniffing me all the time. Sounds creepy, right?! I have owned many fragrances (and few boyfriends, haha) but this is the first time when anything like that happens. This fragrance is real magic! This will be the ultimate man magnet scent - wear it on a date or a night out and be sure that every male around you will go crazy.

Whit

I'll definitely try this for sure! Modern Muse and it's flankers so far are just too "bright" for me. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I like brighter perfumes, but I'm a dark, balmy perfume girl by heart. I'm looking forward to testing this!

cleo cupcake

I don't care for camomile in fragrance normally but this is a must-try anyway.

Mooniq

Amber seems to be the new Oud. I see Amber-note in so many new scents - good - I like amber i many different mixes, its a great note in parfumes.

liliya17

Wow! The bottle is amazing! Can't waiting to try it.
