My favorite summer scent into the beachy category, offering just the right balance of sweetness and freshness. Its predominant tiare flower note makes it perfect for me, as I absolutely adore tiare.

Fragnant

Just checking to make sure this is the 2017 version I am reviewing. I bought this in 2008 around Mother’s Day when Ulta did a promotion, receive a free gift with a $70 purchase when the gifts were actually good! I received a duffel bag. Now they just give you a throw or a robe.

Anyways: this scent was perfect and I was VERY picky before Covid changed my nose. The their perfume I ever bought in the tall portrait mode bottle. The 2019 version is stockier landscape mode bottle but smells exactly the same. Eau fraich skin scent really lives up to its name. Sits close to the skin, salty, coconut but not obnoxiously sweet like Alien Goddess. This is a very unique and likable opens up with pepper, Mediterranean vacation. I wear this in the other seasons when I find I’m missing summer. The edp is awful as in its coconutty and very perfumey. Skin scent is like the subtle scent of skincare. You don’t want anything cloying in the summer.

The most recent EL Bronze Goddess Skinscent is AMAZING. I smelled it in an airport for the first time a few months ago and it lasted all day. I was luckily enough to grab a bottle half price in another airport recently. It's such a stunning scent, it's not "perfume-y" at all while giving a tropical aroma. Even though it's designed for the summer I might make this my signature scent it's that delicious. One of the few scents I truly love (and I've smelled hundreds).

sgugino

My all time favorite summer fragrance. It smells like you’ve been at the beach all day and then go back to your hotel room and shower before you meet up with friends. This absolutely shines in high heat. The citrus notes fade (not surprising) but the tiare flower, jasmine, coconut, and sandalwood blend together beautifully.

The EDP of this 2017 release was way too sweet and cloying. The Skinscent nailed it for me.

After Estée Lauder discontinued Soleil Azureé of course I’ve tried “the new summer scents”… but no. Used it as quick in-between body spray or freshener in my car. They should have kept the original “recipe” of Soleil Azureé instead of yearly makeovers. Sad.

IL0v3perfume

I loved the opening of this but it smells musty/dusty on the dry down which totally ruined it for me

Bondno9girl

I bought a bottle on super sale $18 for the 3.4 big bottle! After I smelled it I went back and bought 2 more so 3 in total. I also have a bottle of the newer version which is a little warmer and doesn't last as long. They are both similar but not too much of a difference, just the warmth of the new one. I actually prefer the newer one, but the lasting power is worse than the 2017 version. I'm happy with my 3 older bottles and I will wear them all until they are gone. I actually mix the 2017 with the newer version to help with lasting power. I also layer them with ambroxan like molecule 02 or juillete has a gun not a perfume and it definitely helps with performance. I scored the body oil from the cosmetics company store which is the same place where I bought my other bottles and that will make this eau fraiche last all day long. Try it if you love this scent or frag the body lotion. I really like the body oil because it has small golden flecks in it and you smell and look like a goddess. Best summer time cheapie ever! But it doesn't smell cheap at all, rather sophisticated,

blackcat02

Very beachy, sunscreen-y scent for summertime. Tanning oil with coconut and soapy white florals. It smells good but it’s very fresh and citrusy. Almost tart/tangy at first? This lasts decently long on my clothes. On my skin, it’s undetectable after 30mins-1hr. On clothes, I get quite a few hours out of this. If you’ve smelled BBW’s fresh coconut and cotton, this smells pretty dang close. Overall, a like but not love. I’m continuing on to find my perfect coconut fragrance. I’m not even sure if I like this enough to keep, but it was on sale at Ulta and I am a coconut fiend. Edit: I'm returning because I can't see myself ever reaching for this and it's a little too mature for me

This is a really beautiful sunscreen, beachy, tropical vacation scent. It is literally vacation in a bottle! I can't think of another perfume that's more fitting for a summer getaway than this one. It's so fresh and sexy, it lasts a really long time on my skin, it projects the perfect amount so as not to overwhelm the people around you, and the bottle is gorgeous.

I highly recommend this one for the summertime! It layers so beautifully over sunscreen and it lasts all day. I don't find the scent changes too much throughout the wear. If anything it just gets a little bit lighter, softer and more powdery but still smells as good as when it's first sprayed. Very, very nice scent!

cassiesta

Starts with a very tarte citrus with a mild sunscreen vibe quietly lurking in the background. I don't love it, don't know if I even like it. After a few minutes it does start to become creamier, but there's something about it that I don't like, it almost smells as if it has turned. The newer one in the short and wide bottle is better because it warms up in the drydown, giving off the smell of warm brown sugar/cookies. I wanted sunscreen vibes and something I didn't get from Terracotta. I initially preferred this to Terracotta, but now I think it is the reverse. It takes like 15 minutes for Terracotta to give off much of a scent, but when it does it's warm and kind of yummy. Both have pretty weak projection, but Terracotta is a little stronger. I want more coconut and depth in this and to smell the base notes stronger.

Nooshin (Atghia)

Tiare absolute has a heady, very intense floral aroma with tropical aspects and a fresh watery characteristic. Polynesian people prepare a special mixture from tiare flowers, its bark, and a coconut oil. It is called “Monoi”, and is used for cosmetic purposes for hair and skin. And that’s why it is a gold combo in tropical fragrances. It’s a typical and familiar beach fragrance in which Tiare and coconut have key roles with a strong amber vanilla base.

Domina1

So many good reviews, I was sure I’d like it. Alas! Returning the bottle.
Perhaps it is my body chemistry, it smells sour and harsh on me. Where is tiare, coconut, all the flowers, all this summer beach vibe everybody talks about?
I could not smell anything except aggressive citrus notes at the beginning and then it turned into some sour scent without any middle notes at all. Then in couple of hours it was gone completely.

UPDATED AUGUST 25, 2021 So, I did not return the bottle and it was in my drawer all these months until I stumbled upon it and decided to give it a try again in this August heat. Well, it works. I think this fragrance meant for hot weather - it opens up more and you can smell more nuances in hot temperature. I can't say I am blown away but it very nice, fresh with a hint of coconut, tiare and vanilla in drydown. the freshness is not citrusy or minty, it is tart freshness. I wonder if this is lavender give this tart smell. the longevity is pretty decent, I smelled on myself for several hours

I was too quick to judge this perfume. It is quite good for everyday use in hot weather. I am so glad I kept it.

Just bought some from an eBay seller. It’s the real deal and it really smells lovely. I know I’m going to wear this a lot as it makes me happy. It’s ideal for a hot day as it’s not overwhelming or headache-inducing but I see no reason to limit it to a summer scent. You could wear it to a theater or religious observances and nobody would be mad. It does lie close to the skin and smells very sexy to me - like your boyfriend’s teeshirt the day after he wore a good cologne. I know I’ll need backups of this one. I don’t see Gardenia as one of the notes but I smell something close to it, coconut, myrrh and amber. Very nice.

NouveauDruid

Today I received my bottle from an eBay seller who had this Bronze Goddess, batch code A18, which checks out as having been manufactured in Jan. 2018 via CheckFresh.

From the nozzle, without ever spraying it first, I did get a "pickle" note but as soon as I actually sprayed it onto my skin, the bergamot presented brightly. Right underneath were the tiare and coconut.

But what makes this one especially interesting and a near-replacement for Azuree Soleil are the myrrh and vetiver, grounding the fragrance and maturing it beyond a girly, beachy scent.

It's missing the deeper gardenia and richer caramel that made Azuree Soleil so irreplaceable. But it's still close enough to make me smile.

labonvie

Lovely! I much prefer this to the EDP version.
I swear I pick up bubble-gummy tuberose. When I first spray it, I kid you not, my first thought is a powdered cake doughnut. Fleeting, but weird.
As others have mentioned, longevity and sillage are not the greatest. I use this over Yves Rocher Monoi oil and that helps. Or I wear this all over with Annick Goutal Songes on top.
Regardless of performance, this is lovely and comforting even if it ends up being mostly a skin scent. I’ve bought back ups...that is something I rarely do anymore.

northstar

One of my favorites. I have so many other scents that this can be layered with depending on mood. It is floral, sandy, beachy, coconut, smooth, deep, sheer and light all at the same time. I don't like things that are too floral with only a few exceptions (Datura Noir), this is not too floral. This is one of my scents that I almost want to drink. My only complaint is sillage, I don't wear this the most out of my collection, but it is draining the fastest, definitely purchase a large bottle, for me it goes quickly. For layering: Eau d'Hermes, Sand and Sable, anything coconut, Amaranthine (Penhaligon's), Kenzo Elephant, anything almond, Orchid Soliel (Tom Ford).

laurelin08

Pickles pickles, pickles! I have no idea what's wrong with my nose. Before purchasing, I read and watched a ton of reviews that said this scent was THE summer scent. Everyone said it was yummy vanilla, creamy coconut and fresh citrus. I spray it and I get a weird tangyness, like pickles or vinegar. There is nothing yummy or creamy here, just sourness. My husband thinks I'm crazy and he loves it, but I've tried it for several days now and every time I spray it I get that stupid pickle/vinegar smell and I can't get it out my nose. After 10 minutes I do get a pretty warm vanilla and coconut scent, but it's not worth it for me to through that initial stage. I thought my bottle was old, but I checked the batch code and it's only a year and 3 months old. So disappointing. This is definitely a blind buy fail.

Rosemary14

If you like Pina Colada! Very much like the thick rich coconut in the alcoholic drink.

I don’t know why but this fragrance stays on my skin a very long time. I keep reading how it barely lasts 3 hours etc… but on me this little coconut scent lasts about 8 hours. It’s kind of a thick deep coconut with some woody, nutty, undertones. It does remind me of a pina colada. I get almost no citrus from this at all and some tropical florals mixed with sandalwood, vetiver, and myrrh. It’s the coconut that is the star of the show.

suzu93

Perfect for the summer! The only downside is that it is not long lasting at all.. however layer this with Guerlain Terracotta and you’ll get this perfect beachy/summery scent that lasts longer!

Konga5000

So much confusion over which is "the original Bronze Goddess" ! LOL. This is one of the fragrances that I'd "visit" at Sephora and Ulta all the time and I finally got a sorta-deal on eBay: used bottle 90% full, no cap, 2016 vintage, $50.00. Now I always found this fragrance over-priced but now that I can fully test it's daily strength , I may change my mind. (If 4 sprays last me half a day -- I'm fine with that!) . I've had this on now for an hour and I'm still getting pretty strong whiffs (with me, a GOOD sign).
So what can be said about Bronze Goddess that has not been said already? Not too much but if you are new to this scent here are the boxes it checks:
1) Summery feeling. Check.
2) Clean, fresh. Check
3) Interesting enough never to be boring. Check.
4) Day/night/office/shopping/anytime scent. Check
5) Longevity (so far, above average with me). So, Check.
6) Nothing else quite smells like it. Check .
7) Price.....well, do NOT pay full retail price. Find a deal online. $60.00 and under for a full 3.4 oz, and you did fine.
8) Unisex? The woody part feels unisex and I'm a guy so......
Bronze Goddess is a comfortable fit. If you have this and Dior's DUNE- that would be the only 2 "summery" scents you would need in your collection. (Bronze Goddess being the "morning summer in early July" and Dior Dune being the "late afternoon summer in August"). Just a note: although coconut is mentioned as a note- this is NOT for someone's who's craving coconuts. They are here but blended up finely and mixed with so much else -- that you will not be able to spot it instantly (if at all). So there's that.

Taishi92

I already made a review of this perfume but I have to review it again because this has grown to be one of my favorites if not the very one. I find this so creamy, like a beach where the sand is made of coconut cream and the water has flowers floating on the surface as the sunshine burns them exuding their scent. Palms dance with the fresh breeze enveloping all that harmony together. I know this will be a scent I will rebuy again and again.

ModernClassic1

This one is pretty, lies well on the skin, coconut, creamy, summer comforting. A signature as Chloe original is, two totally different vibes, but both subtle statements of sophistication and grown womannes. Can be worn at night and at the office if desired.

Blingmad

I absolutely love this perfume ..expensive but long lasting and beautiful...for a cheap alternative try summer by next .

Taishi92

This is beautiful. Warm salty sands enveloped with bright white flowers over creamy smooth coconut milk. Its creamy, fresh and femenine. A soft tropical vacation dream.
I can't wait to use this in the summer but I got it during winter and it just blooms into your skin. I know already, this will be one of those very few fragrances I will repurchase. Happy, happy!

Coffee_Girl

So strange, at first this perfume has very low sillage...but for whatever reason i can still smell it all through the day...it is subtle in projection but enduring in its space? For example... a person walking by will smell it, but someone who is across the table from you can catch whiffs of it but not be completely aware that a person in close proximity is wearing perfume.

I can't seem to explain it, but it does smell great. I just hate myself for constantly buying coconut scents, i can't stand coconut. What is wrong with me =[

77Heather

Sigh...I tested this once before I bought it and thought it was the beachy scent I'd been looking for, but no, it's not right. There is a musty dusty floral note that is killing the whole thing for me. It's getting returned tomorrow.

al820129

I am not the one bathing in sun for hours so I don't have much knowledge about popular sunscreen products (if I use it, I choose it unscented), therefore Bronze Goddess doesn't trigger in me any sentiments. But the more I tested it, the more I liked it. I bet you had this experience, when you hate perfume, but still test it to be convinced again how you hate it. Unexpected comes the moment when you start loving! That soft silky coconut kept me trying. I will sound atypical, but I enjoyed it a lot in autumn, maybe because of amber and warmth.

JuliaQueen

This is a very dominant monoi scent with a hint of coconut, some soft flowers in the background and a warm vanilla dry-down. It smells beautiful and sophisticated especially when it's hot outside and you're in the sun. It's not very tropical in my opinion. Sits very close the skin. I haven't smelt the EDP so I can't compare the two.The Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude has a much stronger and creamier coconut note.

corri_szucs

Been waiting since last summer to pull this one out again! This one lasts forever on me even without the body cream I bought; I actually don't wear them together. I love this one paired with either J lo's Miami Glow or Nicki Minag's The Pinkprint (which is very similar to MG but in my opinion not a dupe and sometimes I actually prefer it). I get a lot of white floral on me with BG so the other scents help to beach it up for me.

denizandbeyond_4

My summer fragrance!
It's a smell that I'll buy as soon as I finish it.
When I weared it, I feel myself on sandy beaches. It fits my bronze summer skin.

rainbow.owl2

If you're in the UK you might like to ty next 'summer sun' for a cheap & cheerful hommage to bronze goddess. cheap as chips.

blackmartini

Despite the lack of pineapple, for me, this is piña colada in a bottle...

I used to live with a girl back when the very first Bronze Goddess was released who wore the original formulation all Summer long and I remember it being so delicious! Now I've found myself missing it and thought I would give the new edition a try.

Although the notes seem very similar, I find this one less full bodied and solar than the original one - most likely because this is supposed to be lighter? Anyway, I cannot wait for the hot weather to kick in to truly be able to enjoy it...

joiedevivreh

Did not expect to love this as much as I do! While I still can’t get myself to purchase this, I will be recommending it to others.

The name makes sense the second you spray it. With strong notes of coconut and other miscellaneous tropical notes, you are transported to a beautiful beach. You feel like a relaxed, sunkissed mermaid. Then, as if the sun is setting, the floral notes - particularly the tiare with my body chemistry - starts to peak through, bringing you to a flourishing Hawaiian garden, with fragrant blooms filling the warm night air. Even in the dead of winter this scent makes me feel like a sexy, bronzed beach goddess.

Some have complained about the longevity or sillage. On my body, this lasts and lasts and lasts. Just one quick spray on each wrist and I can smell it around me all day!

AnitaHendricks

This is a summer holiday in a bottle. At first the citrus comes along. It's a warm, sweet citrus. Think of a juicy orange warming up and drying out in the sun. The fresh coconut lies next to it. This coconut is natural and creamy. It's there but it's balanced out by the white flowers. They show up after the perfume dried down. The sandalwood and amber add some body. This perfume is nothing like a cheap body splash because of these notes. There's some myrrh too, creating more dept. It's casual enough and yet sophisticated! You can almost sense the warmth of summer skin.

missmicale

Oh I'm obsessed. This scent is absolutely delicious. When the weather is hot it blooms on your skin. I own Yves Rocher Monoi Eau des Vahines and the Replica Beach Walk, but they don't touch this. Yves Rocher is too light, and Replica too powdery. This is a coconut, vanilla, suntan lotion dream.

aquarius_moon

The whole Bronze Goddess line used to be off my radar—I’d somehow convinced myself it wouldn't be my thing—but after giving this version a sniff, I was so instantly smitten I threw caution to the wind, walked back into the store, and shelled out for a bottle, never mind that I didn’t need another perfume.

While at it, I also tried the Eau de Parfum, and though it wasn’t unpleasant, neither did it leave an impression. Contrary to what one might expect, the Parfum seems fainter and less complex than the Eau Fraiche, and it’s also weaker on the coconut and lacks the ‘je ne sais quoi’ that charmed me so about the Eau Fraiche.

The ‘je ne sais quoi’ really is that, since I find it unusually difficult to distinguish the notes. Certainly, coconut is there, and in my (admittedly limited) experience, it’s the best coconut ever. So far, I’ve encountered perfumes that list it as a note but you can’t actually smell it, and cheapies that are so coconut-y you might as well smear yourself with pina colada. This is nothing of the kind—it’s definitely coconut, but it’s so well blended that the result is intriguing to the brain and madly addictive.

The flowers (apart from tiare), or even the citruses, I can’t really pin down. Since I don’t much care for summer florals, this is great. And though I find it hard to describe what the whole smells like, I can totally confirm it’s as evocative of summer vacations as everyone says it is. It's a yummy (but not edible) tropical scent. It wears close to the skin and doesn’t tire the wearer or the surroundings. I love it!

Crystals On My Converse

Edit - on me this is awful!!

Soooo not that I needed another scent buuuuut....! See where Im going here...?! Picked this up today as I do like the the EDP scent but I personally think its a bit too overpowering for summer! This however sits close to the skin (hence the name! ) and is more of a purr than a roar! I detect amber as a main note in this and also the tropical coconut and expensive sun tan lotion smell!
I would imagine wearing this on a shopping tripmon a Summer's day in the likes of Monaco or St Tropz or even Rome!
Really good option if you think the original Bronze Godess is a bit too much

Prudence Liquorice

Holiday in a bottle. Divine.

Nuitdenoel

I've had a full bottle for several weeks now and I love it. I don't regret buying this as opposed to the EDP but I have noticed a few things. This a perfume that needs heat in order to fully bloom. My body temperature is a degree cooler than normal, and the weather has been mild to chilly for spring this year. Combine those two things and this is one sharp scent.

In the heat, it mellows to a lovely, sunny, coconut-tiare scent. I do notice a little lavender underneath the tropicalness, but to me, that's great. It keeps this scent from being overly sweet or too literal an interpretation of suntan lotion. It acts as a cool ocean breeze, gently flowing under everything else.

I cannot wait until the summer heat comes so I can wear this baby out everywhere!

shannonwheeler05

I returned this to Ulta, because for my taste, the lavender note was way too overpowering. I just have a problem with lavender, so I don't mean it as a criticism of the quality of the product. I think the vetiver was probably the other note that was too strong. I really wanted coconut to be rather in the front, and I couldn't detect any coconut whatsoever. The lavender and vetiver took on a somewhat masculine scent to me, much different than the beachy vibe I was anticipating.

Our local Ulta had some of the 2015 version as well, and I got one of those instead, and I much prefer it. On this site, it appeared that the 2015 was one of the only years without lavender, and I find that seems true, although the EL customer service person I asked last night said if it's called "Eau Fraiche Skinscent" they're identical. I think based on subtle differences I see here between the years, that I would tend to believe the Fragrantica notes more, after smelling these two different years, one on each wrist.

I did buy the new Eau De Parfum and I LOVE IT. It has a very big jasmine that is much like Black Opium, but appropriate for warm weather. It could be a relative of Black Opium, really. If you love BO and would like a summer version, I think it's a safe blind buy. I prefer the EDP, but I generally love a bigger, bolder fragrance.

Nuitdenoel

Love it. Beautiful as always. I know it's a skin scent, and it does stay close to the skin after a few hours, but it is so lovely I don't mind burying my nose on my wrist. I tested this opposite the Bronze Goddess EDP. Both are different, this is so light and lovely.
