I found it in my moms bathroom, she did not use it so i took it, it s almost full and it smells beautiful, dark and sexy but by the batch code it s almost 6 years old and the bottle was used a bit so i dont know if it s safe, if anybody knows please let me know. This smells like the bottle looks, maybe a bit off in my bottle cause it s old, but a warm sweet sexy not green not too dusty pachouli with white flower. I get the hype

This is the only "unisex" perfume I love! It smells so pleasant and different.
Some users wrote that it reminds them of a glamourous hippie and indeed I look like one wearing this perfume: a dark leather jacket, a chic white blouse, nice pair of blue jeans and leather shoes, with some silver earrings, watch and bracelet, a dark nail polish and wavy and long dark hair. Simple and chic.
It is the perfect autumn fragrance to me and still holds a special place in my heart. Bought it around 2012 when I was a student, travelling a lot, enjoying and romanticizing life. It also gave me the image of the free spirited, optimistic, bold and beautiful woman I wanted to become.

Glamourous hippie, youthful but not juvenile, radiating warmth on day 1 at a music festival.
Unimpressed when I tried this a decade ago, but it’s grown into a love over time. The pear balances the guava here, rounds and softens the fruitiness, no sharp edges. The tiare flower is gorgeous, creates a wonderful sillage in high heat. The combo of patchouli, honey, and musk could resemble the skank experienced on day 3 of a music festival but not here. Instead, perfumer Ilias Ermenidis works some alchemy to create a clean, yet earthy, second skin effect. Big love for me.

Ordered a bottle from a seller on Mercari who was downsizing her perfume collection , I loooooove it ! Warm fruity patchouli . Makes me happy . Someone told me I smelled amazing while wearing it ! It’s July 84 degrees and wearing it with pride and ease !

Scent and memory is an amazing thing. I had a sample of this way back in the day and I can still remember almost exactly how this smelt today. It's an amazingly beautiful fragrance and I wish I could get my little paws on a full sized bottle right now, especially since my nose has matured and even though I love the sweet and balanced fragrances, I love some of the mature styles too.

This is like a dark dreamy forest where magical and mythical classic book fairytales come to life (this is what I picture as the memory of this scent is so enchanting many pleasant surreal things spring to mind). There is something mysterious and haunting about this perfume and almost something slightly edible. This is perfectly balanced and ideal for both men and women. The patchouli isn't nasty or harsh/overpowering, every note is beautifully complimentary in perfect harmony.

When people say this reminds them of Britneys Believe they definitely mean the original formula (with the metal plate) the new version of believe isn't as lush or deep. Original Believe is so beautiful as well 😍

Absolutely lovely. Warm, comfortable, and inviting, also grown up and well blended in the extreme. The patchouli here reminds me of that in Gucci Guilty and also Jimmy Choo. It's not a green patchouli, as in Coco Mademoiselle, but has a greenery about it, possibly owing to the guava.... Not sweet, not bitter, not sharp or tangy or tart to my nose. Just perfect! If you want to create a perfectly blended patchouli, this is your model.

Gucci Gucci does have a hippie vibe. Heavy on the patchouli but it is still wearable. The honey and fruity notes keep it fun and youthful. I agree w/ @Favabeans This is the fruitachouli mothership. A good way to describe this perfume. It isn't something I would buy now. I have enough fruitachouli's, they were something that was easy to get my hands on when I started collecting 2 years ago so the vibe here is a little played out for me, but they are wearable and crowd pleasing. That is why I own quite a few of them. You can wear them anywhere and around anybody most of the time. This reminds me of Judith Leiber's Topaz which I already have but I like Topaz more.

hijoebye

Smells like a glamorous hippie. Totally captures the Gucci essence, I can see Zoe Kravitz or Florence Welch smelling like this. This is extremely patchouli heavy and to my nose the fruitiness is fleeting or not there at all. Ordered a sample of this being that it's compared to one of my faves - Britney Spears 'Believe'. While the similarities are there with patchouli and guava, they are not the same. This one is way heavier, more mature, and suited for colder temperatures, whereas Believe is more refreshing and sweeter with the added clementine and better for warmer months. Since this is discontinued, I'm wondering if my juice went bad because I have tried this with sprays to the wrist and projection and longevity is weak to my nose. I will edit if my experience changes! PS. The bottle looks gorgeous.

Gyps

Smelt lovely when I first sprayed it but it disappeared on my skin. What a bummer.

I used to own this fragrance before I became a fraghead :D I gave it to my mum, because while I loved the smell, it felt too grown up, sophisticated and stylish for me to wear to high school. Today I got a bottle of Adam Levine for Woman, which I blind bought because I wanted something like Santal Majuscule, and to me, upon first try it reminded me a lot of this... will be trying it out more, maybe I'm grown up enough for it now :p

I thought Tom Ford Ombre Leather was impressive and unique! Then I smelled this...

This came out in 2007?! It's so ridiculously similar to Ombre Leather I can't even believe what I'm smelling. Different notes, but such a similar scent. To me, this perfume smells like a mix between Ombre Leather and David Yurman Limited Edition.

DISCONTINUED FRAGRANCE REVIEW
NO.#12 / 10.

This is Britney Spears' "Believe" cashed-up auntie.
BS's (hehehe) "Believe" is a green, heavy, guava-and-earthy patchouli scent. "Gucci" is the same - just heavier with some honey.

I got a used bottle from eBay (because... Auntie's discontinued) and, as such, only spray it occasionally.

The green guava scent adds a decent amount of sweet juiciness, and the patchouli *really* grounds it (an 'earthy' pun? What a win). The patchouli is wildly noticeable here, so if you hate patchouli; it's pretty much guaranteed you'll hate this. Tiare flower is a more tropical flower, but...I honestly don't find this perfume particularly tropical as such. The honey is quite the nice and is absolutely most noticeable in the dry-down. It certainly mingles with the ever-present patchouli.
It's a heavy (probably because of that patchouli and white floral tiare flower) womanly scent that's kind of reminiscent of "Ricci Ricci" (not scent-wise at all), and the added sweet, luscious honey makes me think of a wealthy aunt who gives bear hugs and loans her over-the-top jewelry.

By the sounds of things, this used to be a powerhouse, but my bottle isn't. I can smell it, but it would never gas out a room of people. Unless I spray like an unchecked garden hose, it settles to a skin scent in half an hour.

Damn sturdy bottle. It's a good weapon for catapulting at your opponents.

Overall, not really my kind of scent. At least not until I become an aunt who wears tiares (see what I did there?) and chunky bracelets. But - hey - there's still time.

P.S. Is anyone else a little bewildered by all the scents by Gucci called..."Gucci"? How many do we need? Can we get a team together who can conjure up some more original names? I suggest someone in marketing.

I was lucky enough to score 75ml bottle + 200ml lotion (from private collector I know personally)
I am in Guava Pear Patchouli Honey HAVEN.
WTH Gucci? Bring this back! I know this consider to be “fruitchouli” and not unique by current standards….but DARN ….this is delicious. It is sweet but not candy sweet, its a rich sweetness with a lot of depth and warmth, that makes it sophisticated, sexy and cosy at the same time.

Rimazy

I hate all the notes listed in this one, but I love the fragrance! Actually it's the only gucci I like and own!

Vellocet

This could be a lovely scent if the patchouli wasn’t there messing it up totally

*loves_shoes*

Just wearing this again today, I forget how great it is, as there’s so many new things to try and wear and I haven’t revisited it in a while.
One spray on my arm is filling the room.
It’s sooooo good. Could easily be a niche release in this day and age.
Batch code on my current bottle is in the 8000s, I have many others in the cupboard that I can check but I know they all smell the same as I give them all one spray to check before storing away.

lukegail

after falling in love with a sample of the 2007 vintage, i bought a bottle off ebay without box, and no batch code. yes, i was silly and asking for trouble. can anyone narrow down the production date based on the manufacturing location? it's Scannon SA, F-75008 Paris.

Maleficent's cotton candy

This fragrance was unique. Smells like money. Smart, sexy money.

One time (early 2000s) I walked past David Duchovny while wearing this. He interrupted his own conversation to say “God DAMN, you smell good.” I felt like a bad b and smelled like one, too.

Rhialto the Marvellous

This legendary one time beauty was inexplicably discontinued a few years ago. Found a genuine bottle from 2018, but alas, it's an incredibly watered down reformulation. A shadow of its former self. This used to be a thick and heavy room filler with just a single spray, and it would last for ages. This version lasts one hour, two hours tops, and even grossly overspraying won't help. No, it's not my memory, nor is it my nose. Just read the reviews below. Many are experiencing the same thing. Those with great performance are the people with vintage bottles.

Fruity, honeyed patchouli that is to die for. Well, at least it was, once upon a time. THE most intoxicating, most glamorous and sexiest scent I have ever smelled on a woman.

Requiescat In Pace.

SHAME ON YOU, GUCCI! *shakes fist*

shannfernando

I have a 2017 version of this. It’s not at all like I remember it being :/ it’s a lot of pear and guava and with a dark patchouli honey base. But it used to be sooooo much thicker and darker. This is totally watered down. It’s a travesty that they reformulated this and completely ruined it.

Only good thing is though that this is now wearable during the day to the office and I can get a nice fix of patchouli whenever I want :)

Cynthia30

One of my favourites. When I first bought it, I thought it was an old lady perfume. I've had this bottle for 6 or 7years and have grown into it. It is the most inoffensive and non irritating cheap perfume I have. Longevity is great. My bottle is from 2013 and it's divine.

hazi

I used it a long time ago, although it is no longer produced, I found it somewhere and bought it. It opens with guava and pear. I feel a very intense sharpness and sourness at the opening, the perfume turns into a beautiful and sophisticated honey scent as it stays on the skin. With patchouli, the perfume gets rid of being too sweet. Frankly, I don't like the opening because I get a sour/metallic feel, but then it turns into a really nice smell. It's a unique scent for me. It is neither too fruity nor too sweet nor too woody. I like it more in winter, but it can be used in summer evenings by paying attention to the number of sprays.

SmellzCrazy

There must be batch differences or people’s perceptions are vastly different. I have a tester purchased in 2021. This could never be described as “light” or “fruity” in general to me. It is a heavy patchouli fragrance with thick guava. Not sweet or fresh. 8/10 only because this is a very formal scent, requires cold weather and the right occasion with good ventilation. Serious heavy vibe, excellent for what it is @perfumisabunny

*loves_shoes*

Unlike any perfume I’ve been able to find, I’m so sad it’s discontinued, and I’ve resorted to buying from eBay. I’m not sure how someone has managed to buy a reformulated one, unless I’ve missed something? I’ve used this since it’s release, and there was only one version and then it was discontinued, and is no more. Eden perfumes do a similar scent called Bye Goochi, but it’s not quite the same (although the dry down is very very similar, so it will have to do when I can’t source it anymore!).
Th EDTof this is my signature, wear anywhere, any time scent. It matches any outfit, work, date, sleep, it’s sooo versatile. I love the EDP too, but the EDT beats if for me, as the dry down is slightly fresher, both are amazing though and I have back up bottles of both!
I’m not a fan of Gucci in general, I quite like bamboo and once used a bottle of it after a blind buy on a plane, but gucci by Gucci is such a stunning scent, so well put together I don’t even have words to describe how it smells. For those saying it doesn’t last maybe it’s a bit of noseblindness? As although the sillage isn’t huge, this lasts so long on me, I can literally smell it the day after I’ve sprayed it. Love it.
Edit: I can still smell this as a skin scent the day after I sprayed it, the edt has gone though.

Edit. Just adding that I’ve bought this perfume regularly since it’s release. There has been no difference between my vintage bottles from the time of release or the newer ones I’ve bought or been gifted in 2018, 2019 and 2020. I’ve bought many, many bottles of this and the EDT, and due to keeping back up bottles I can directly compare different years. These are my signature scent, I would know. All my bottles are stored in the cool and dark.

beanstock23

I was able to get a vintage bottle of this recently and my friend bought a current bottle and we compared them, they smell similar at first spray on top, but the drydown of the vintage is amazing where the current formulation falls flat, and smells like BO. Reformulation of perfume today is truly an olfactory tragedy.

jordandeearn

I find it difficult to put my finger on this one. I notice the honey the most, and light sweet flowers. I wish this was a little stronger as I think it has the potential to be really beautiful but doesn't stand out enough. Still very wearable and the little horsebit on the bottle is charming.

Kikichaaan

A good mix of patchouli and honey added with a hint of juicy guava. I really really love the scent but it doesn't perform and last that well on me. It smells very soft and sits close to the skin. Maybe I'm used to stronger perfumes such as Alien by Mugler so this one feels "not that noticeable" for me. But still, I love to wear this for date night or just going to bed.

klarathèrésia

I wear this everytime I go out at night time, it makes me feel soo confident and like anything could happen :) I love how deep it it is without beeing sweet. My perfect ember <3

MyAlabasterJar

Agree with Violinhead8120 - Beautiful scent but no longevity at all, all the yumminess of honey and patchouli gone in less than an hour.

GGLiCious

It's marketed as women perfume but smells more to unisex. Moderate projection & quite soft but long lasting 👍🏻 heavy patchouli+honey indeed but it's not a sweet honey...

lisajmunro

This is a stunningly beautiful honey and patchouli fragrance. Perfect for autumn or winter - day or night (but like, a cozy night in or a really low key cozy bar, not a date night or "night out" scent). I even like to put this on before bed when it's cold because it just feels so warm and comforting. It doesn't have a lot of longevity, but that's ok with me. I actually blind bought this fragrance (second hand as I think it's been discontinued) and I ended up loving it so much that I bought a backup!

Violinhead8120

(Here’s my Un-entertaining, all too long, painfully informative review here lol - please keep this in mind before reading on). Gucci by Gucci is pleasant in theory, definitely unisex, and I would love to have it as my boss-woman signature....but there’s no longevity. The scent disappears from my skin within 1 hour, and 2 hours if I have my skin covered with fabric where I sprayed the fragrance. Unacceptable. I have colognes that last longer. I had to double check to make sure they didn’t accidentally send me a Gucci by Gucci Eau de cologne. Nope. It definitely has EDP on the label. Overspraying does NOTHING to help the longevity, either. If I spray it anywhere skin has to Be exposed? Forget it. 1 hr MAX. My bottle was manufactured in 2018 with batch code 8016, so it is more than likely a dreaded reformulation (this is my first time trying this fragrance). How do people get such good longevity with this? Maybe I become anosmic to some patchouli heavy fragrances. Jimmy Choo EDP is the only patch-dominant fragrance that I can smell on my skin for 8+ hours. I definitely become anosmic to another patch, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, after a couple of hours, and I discovered that on days when people were making pleasant remarks about my fragrance 6+ hours after I had applied Chanel Mademoiselle and I told them thanks, I could not smell it on myself at all - so that was very much a pleasant surprise that my scent was perceived by others in spite of me not being able to do so.

Gucci EDP has quite low to nonexistent projection even from the initial spray, and I have to put my arm directly underneath my nose to smell it when I first apply it, so it’s very faint but has presence (at least for a full hour lmao) whereas with Mademoiselle, I get actual strength from it, and can at least catch wafts of it radiating off my skin for a couple of hours. Not with Gucci. I’d be lucky to smell myself after 1 hour and then it disappears completely. So with that said, I’m leaning towards this being a dud for my skin chemistry, sans anosmia.

The opening is just a patch and musk and a tiiiiny smidgen of raw honey and.... dare I say a hint of chocolate?? Cacao?? My nose definitely picks up on some cacao. The opening of this fragrance takes itself moderately seriously and professionally without being stuffy, standoffish or unfriendly, and so that should match the person who wears it.

The dry down of this fragrance on bare uncovered skin is where everything falls apart - I never get the beautiful, UNIQUE dry down that I get when I have fabric covering my skin... So, with bare skin, the dry down of this just turns murky, stale, no fruits, and the fragrance Always just falls apart, BUT if my skin is covered with fabric after I apply the perfume, the strangest thing occurs: it almost ‘lifts’ and transforms into a slightly brighter, more feminine version of itself with the fruits flanked by beautiful patchouli and honey. The dry down makes the fragrance still professional and serious, but lighter, friendlier, calmer but still with an ambitious competitive edge, and still with a penchant of taking no bs, which is what I want my scent to evoke. Even then, I only get to experience this beautiful dry down for 30 min. Weird. Extremely unique for being a designer, but I’ll never know....

I’ll be selling this.

lala-jaenner

My queen bee scent.

It's not discontinued but they've changed the formulation. It doesn't smell like it used to smell 10 years ago.

Ailsa1973

I love love love this perfume, its addictive, its my all time favorite go to perfume every day - I never tire of it - its sweet yet dark maybe even slightly spicy, its intriguing and alluring. Its a gorgeous balance between the patchouli/musk and honey/pear - I don't get any floral from it and its not so heavy to give me a sore head (so many perfumes do). Its not a 'young fun' fragrance its warm, sophisticated, unique, amazing. I keep reading that its being discontinued - its hard to get in stores but I can still find it online so will stock up and hope to find something else I love in case they do discontinue it. I'd like to say its underrated - but then I wouldn't want everyone to discover it!

It's an addiction

The opening was promising, but this dried down to a slightly more cloying version of Narciso Rodriguez (if I recall correctly; the EDT) on me. I love that one on others, but, eventhough I want it to, it just doesn't suit me.

My fiancé agreed, he also liked it but he said it was too "lovely and friendly" for my personality. (Whatever that implies 😏.) Where I associate this with a flirty and preppy professional, he was reminded of a "very sweet and cuddly grandmother".

UnearthlyApothecary

God I love this stuff, and if you love patchouli this one is the best, a real wrist sniffer! The patch is definitely the star. this is the darker more animalic take on a fruitchouli thanks to the honey and musk. The silage and longevity are moderate honestly I wish it was a bit stronger but it’s still an amazing and unique incredibly sexy perfume.

AnotherScentLover

had this back in 2007. Wasn't interesting to me.

ntabassum92

Testing from a rollerball sample.

Whenever I see this perfume, I think of KathleenLights, because she really loves this one. I can see why. It's a sweet, honeyed patchouli, with an interesting guava note. The guava doesn't read as straight up fruity ripe guava, but a perfumey guava, sweet in a fruity way, like a guava filled pastry, to give this perfume that something unique it needs to prevent it just being another patchouli.

Gucci by Gucci is also VERY musky on me. It gets warmer and muskier, the patchouli gets a little crisper even as it dries down, to cut through the musk and honey. The patchouli is clean, but the honey is warm and maybe a tiny bit animalic, and the combined effect is perfect for the '70s advertising they have for this perfume. It does smell a little retro, sensual in a hot skin kind of way. I used to get a "bad breath" smell from this on my skin, luckily I don't smell that anymore.

I like it, it's different and more daring than other fruity pathcoulis out there. I see it's more widely available online than it used to be, so that's a great thing if you love this fragrance!

HoryaGawish

It is very long lasting lasts for days rly, the silage fills the whole apartment only from one spray. Not for me rly, it gives me headache, my mom likes it, I dont so make sure u try this before buying it, it is either love or hate, no in between.

jellybeantree

I checked the serial number of this fragrance and it said it was manufactured in 2019 . So it was still being made up until last year . Not discontinued?

Sherine777

I really hate it when I LOVE a discontinued perfume!

Anamandy's review is exactly how I perceive it, a perfume centered around a Woody Spicy Sweet Patchouli with a backstage of fruit and floral, I can't discern them individually.

It's intoxicating and mouthwatering good without actually being a gourmand.

Whenever I smell it, Gucci No3 that I used and loved so long ago pops in my head, I might be hallucinating or maybe something is in common..

Bad Gucci for taking this away!

sophiagardenia

The patchouli in this smells a bit like plastic and more than anything, METAL. It's a little sweet but a bit bitter, as well, it's a crossmix between feminine and masculine, but still stays more on the feminine side. I've DEFINITELY smelled it somewhere before, but around over a decade ago. I think my godmother used to wear this. I can't put my finger on any of the notes, other than patchouli, when I wear it. It's so odd. I pride myself on having a good nose, but it just smells like patchouli ft. perfume rather than a perfume with patchouli in it. It's a woody, sharp patchouli, and I don't get the guava AT ALL. I wish it did have more fruity notes incorporated in it, though - just to elevate it a bit and make it more wearable. I don't think it's awful, but I do see why it got discontinued (giving no offense at all to those who adore it - i apologize it got discontinued to those who really love it), I'm just stating that I can see why many dislike it, if that makes sense. It's a matter of skin chemistry here. It just doesn't smell "all that" on me.

JSpines

Back in the day, I used to "blind buy" fragrances all the time. Many a time, I was left unimpressed and disappointed in the purchase. I believe it was due to my impulsiveness and inexperience. When I was just learning about fragrances, I wasn't sure what all the notes smelled like from the description so I was more willing to throw caution to the wind when making a purchase. Fast forward 10 years. I know what I like and what I don't like now. I know what notes I'm drawn to and which ones I'm not. I now have an instinct that is much more hoaned, when making a blind buy. I am happy to report that I am very rarely let down from blind buy purchases I make nowadays.
Working in a store that carries fragrances is both exciting and daunting. So many fragrances to research! Haha
I take my time and I look at every one and then I google the ones that I am most interested in to read about the notes, the prices, the availability and finally, the reviews. I take all of that information into account before I jump at a blind buy now.
When the feeling of confidence kicks in, I go for it! Or, if I'm feeling really unsure, I take a pass. Sometimes I'll research a scent for hours before making my mind up but in the end, all the digging around is worth it.
I finished work on Thursday and decided to take a look at the fragrance section before leaving for home. (Believe it or not, I do not do this every day! Haha)
I knew that we had just received a large shipment in of fragrance in that day and was eager to see what we had. I picked up two for men (Versace Oud Noir and Gucci Made to Measure) and three for woman (Gucci by Gucci, Versace Vanitas and Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue.)
I stood there with my phone and looked up all of them. No to the Oud, too manly. No to Made to Measure, too boring. No to Vanitas, too similar to Chloe, which I despise. No to Light Blue, has been reformulated and is now screechy.
Hmmmmm.........Gucci by Gucci. Ding, ding, ding..........we have a winner!!!
59.99 for a 50 ml. bottle plus my employee discount, not bad!
Unboxed it when I arrived home and smelled the nozzle. I knew instantly that I was going to love it. I wore it the following day and had that huge sigh of relief, knowing that I had made the right decision.
When I first sprayed it on (I always do 2 or 3 sprays on my chest/tummy area) I noticed a "stinky" note but it didn't scare me, I knew it would settle down and it did. I'm hit or miss with patchouli but it's smooth in here. The musk is light and also smooth. The honey brings a sweetness but it's also smooth and gentle. Overall, it's smooth and well blended and to me, it's a confident, sexy, "power" scent. It's not in-your-face or aggressive. It sneaks up on you, gives you a warm hug and steals a kiss! Alluring!
I've read other reviews stating that they wished it was spicier but I think we have enough spicy scents out there already. I think that this one is perfect just as it is. Absolutely stunning for cooler seasons.
Lasts all day on me and I continually get wiffs of it whenever I heat up and am moving around.
The bottle itself is also drop-dead gorgeous!
It's sad that it's been discontinued but I'll certainly enjoy it to the very last drop!

Wow!! What IS this???? I have a decant from generous Fragrantician and had no expectations one way or another, other than her reassurance that it is gorgeous, and that it is. I am completely baffled at the notes listed here, because this plays on me like a resinous, amber-y, woody oriental. If that is from patch and honey, all I can say is that I have never encountered a patch like this! This is not your hippy variety patchouli, and as Amandy points out below, it's apparently the source of the delicious woodiness. I swear I smell amber! I get no guava, no distinct tiare, and no pear. Gucci is a whole. What I mean to say is that if you smelt an apple, your brain would say "That smells like an apple!", or if you smelt a vanilla bean you would think "That smells like vanilla!". What I am quite inelegantly trying to say is that Gucci smells like Gucci on me. I can not break it down or isolate any single note. It does remind me of TF Noir de Femme a bit, but the notes listed in NdF fit what I am smelling. This is a very interesting and beguiling fragrance indeed!

Hello 👋🏻
Okay so .. Not what I was expecting at all based on the reviews I read..
It actually is how do I explain this - A FRESH slightly sweet woody (spicy scent)
I know there is no wood in the notes but combined with the honey and the patchouli it creates that result

If you like deep scents and one one that you can wear during the day that is going to stand out and not annoy ppl in say a date/ an office setting/ movie theatre but be addictive , then go for it .
Reminds me a little of Gucci rush vibes and Hugo boss deep red - in those category of perfumes.
Youthful Classy 22-48 yrs old 8/10

I don't understand the patchouli note in this scent. I don't smell it – at least not in the traditional hippy way. Nor am I getting it in an earthy way, as is in Prada Amber. Nor is it green. What I am getting is a gorgeous, satiny wood. I am really amazed by that considering there is no wood listed in the notes for this fragrance. If I were to visualize this fragrance it would be glossy, like a sleek, smooth, polished piece of ebony wood. The fact that this has no wood sent me on a search to find out more about the Patchouli plant itself. I was able to find out that there are several varieties that are shrubby, and the sap is often extracted from their woody stems and put to various uses. The most widely used this way is Java Patchouli, which is prized for its sleek wood notes. If this is the type of patchouli used here that could explain the beautiful wood notes I'm smelling.

When taken as a whole, this composition is very rich. The fruit, honey and spice notes are very light, seemingly only there to accentuate the beautiful patchouli. I'm not getting Tiare outright but there is a creamy, buttery richness to this composition that could only be attributed to that. But it is the Patchouli that is the star here and in its present form is extremely seductive, sexy, and glamorous.

I'm still finding it hard to believe that a note I normally dislike so much can be so beautiful. But from first spray to the silky end this was a head over heels love for me. I am so sad this gorgeous scent was discontinued. I am actually baffled by that.

Amascent

This is a memorable and very unique perfume. Sooo sexy, sweet, spicy and ultra glamorous. You will stand out wearing this. It's one of my favorites. I love the unexpected notes and how well they blend. Patchuli is toned down and made modern blending with the honey. White florals and guava and pear are so delicious and add sweetness without being gourmand. It's mysterious without being dark, and spicy without being heavy or too young. This is a masterpiece. I love it.

So sad it was discontinued, this is far superior to Premiere which I feel was probably meant to replace this. Premiere is much softer and more powdery. Feels more makeup country and less special. This on the other hand is a masterpiece. I hope they decide to relaunch it, because this is like nothing else out there.

JustSimpleThings

This was my first ever 'real' perfume purchase. My husband loves this scent on me and he is very picky and hates perfume in general, so that says something! This scent is special.
To my nose, this is a spicy honey scent - honey with cloves, cardamom and a hint of cinnamon. Very feminine, strong woman, sexy vibes. Not for the faint-hearted.
I will continue to adore this scent until my bottle lasts.❤️

jreyes366

This fragrance can be summed up in one word, intoxicating.

The honey and patchouli are a match made in heaven. The light and airy sweetness of the guava compliments it so nicely, not leaving it sickly sweet on the skin. It has a bit of a bitter thing going on but in all the right ways. This isn't a dusty patchouli at all, it's a deep, almost chocolatey one.

I know this fragrance has been sadly discontinued but if you can get your hands on a bottle, do it!

angel51197

I found it at a duty free store for 15 bucks! They were selling off the store, I really like this scent, to me smells like a fancy girl

Another legendary perfume discontinued... i dont get this industry

elledeelee

So upset that this was discontinued, it is by far the best fragrance to ever come from the house of Gucci, with incidentally their best ever packaging. The opening is a hit of unadulterated, juicy guava, then it quickly transitions to a carnal, musky, deep scent, reminiscent of NR For Her but much sexier - luscious and dripping with honey. The fruits are subtle, which is exactly how I like my fruits; the patchouli is deep and earthy, and beautifully blended; the honey is sensual and inviting. There is the slightest hint of second hand tobacco that lingers after a decadent night out. This is dark glamour in a bottle, a very voluptuous scent, warm, sultry and oozing confidence.

Catsylvania

The opening notes of patchouli reminded me a lot of Midnight Poison, and this nostalgia is the primary reason why I got Gucci by Gucci. Of course, patchouli is really the only thing these two share together but it's still better than nothing.

Either way, Gucci comes with a powerful burst of patchouli which later reveals a beautiful cool toned, almost icy tiare flower scent which starts dominating the overall composition. The dry down adds a very delicate honey and white flower base with some remnants of patchouli. As for pear and guava, unfortunately I didn't seem to notice them no matter how much I'd spray on. The scent is still gorgeous, refreshing and quite unique. It would be really interesting to see whether it'll perform great during warmer days.

Gucci by Gucci left a pretty decent trail but I wish it was somewhat more long lasting because the scent is so fantastic that you'd want it around you for longer.

SailorV

When this was still available in stores, I accidentally soaked my whole nose area with a leaky tester bottle that I wanted to sniff. Of course I didn‘t try it again soon, and then it was gone from the shelves. I remembered it as a sharp but good fruitchouli, and got me a sample not too long ago to retest, mainly because I love guava scents.

When I first used it, it smelled so different from what I remembered. Guess a soaked nose is not the same as one little spray on the arm. Not very fruitchouli-like at all.
The tiare note is really strong at first, it smells warm and creamily floral like monoi oil, but with a dirty patchouli underneath. The patch reminds me of the original Mugler Angel, but the rest of scent is different and quite unique. The overall feeling of the fragrance is tropical to my nose, but the notes shift in and out. Sometimes I smell sweaty patch, sometimes sexy warm skin, sometimes a clean honey-shampoo, sometimes fruitiness. Even after several tries I‘m not 100% sure what to make of it - It can be warm and sensual, but then a scratchy note emerges that really ruins it for me, something artificially clean.
So, in the end I think Gucci by Gucci has really nice and interesting notes, but it could be done better. I would love some more juicy guava instead of that scratchy-clean thing. Not for me, but I could imagine that this really depends on the wearer‘s skin and works better on others.

Scenatrix

This smells like sex in a bottle: it is so delicious, warm and sensual. I love the Gucci scents, so it was no surprise I loved this as well.
I didn't find it masculine, it is a real musky/patchouli vibe (I love patchouli on its own too). So much depends on how a perfume works with your body chemistry: this one, for me, is a winner.

avierra93

i have a miniature of the edt, and a full bottle of the edition de luxe. they are wonderfu. this is what i thought guilty absolute would smell more like based on the tester but i was let down. this is warm but not suffocating, woodsy fruit, like berry syrup on pancakes in a cabin in the woods

rajnigandha

I went to the store and tried it on after reading lovely reviews. My friend absolutely loved it on me. It smells like dark enchanting woods. Gucci by guuci has that allure about it. It lasts for good 8hrs on me, give or take which a feat in itself since nothing lasts that long on me. It smells of wet soil mostly which is all patchouli, also sweet and fruity at the same time. Maybe that's the guava and honey in it. It's a great combination. It's cool but without being chilling. It's a lovely fragrance for a night out.
The store I went to had a last few bottles left then and I had to buy it. It's a shame that it got discontinued. It's such a timeless fragrance. I cannot fathom why anyone would do so.

YYY_Delilah

I have just recently written under another heading (Paco Rabbane's Black Excess Los Angeles) how the fruity + just enough woods & musks & resins etc to keep it from smelling literally like a bunch of fruit is a standard idiom that 'fume-houses very often have recourse to for their 'flankers', and which can get very boring!

But this is the mother-ship of that idiom! ... the one that sets the bar. I loved it instantly the first time I tried it ... I can't remember exactly how long ago - but a fair while; and even now I can't fathom what it is that it smells like; it just is what it is - it smells like Gucci Gucci & gorgeous & inscrutible, and that's about all that can be said, really - it's such a beautifully integrated whole - sufficient unto itself!

One thing I can say about this though is that it sets my déja-vu haywire - some 'fumes do that - some more than others: and this one does it to me a very great deal ... but without ever connecting with a specific memory. I think the explanation when that happens might be an early encounter with someone wearing it - possibly a very brief one ... and also possibly a very long time before.

And I also agree wholeheartedly that discontinuing this is just completely insane - about as insane as Creed's discontinuing Bois du Portugal. But I cannot fathom marketting 'logic' ... can anyone fathom it? ... including the markettors themselves!

Sometimes I wonder whether it's because they just can't anymore - whether some crucial constituent has ceased to be available, and they would rather scrap it than be putting-out an inferior generation of it. At least that would make sense ... infact not only make-sense, but show-forth a certain integrity.

The consensus here seems to be that this is patchouli-dominated. A very versatile note, patchouli, isn't it: the number of times I've thought "no! there isn't patchouli in that!" ... & then on further consideration have begun to perceive how it 'slots in'.

Sweetnsexy

I'm in love with this scent! It smells just like sweet honey. The patchouli makes it sexy. This lasts all day. I wish they didn't discontinued this.

ballerina77

This is one of the most sophisticated fragrances i ever knew
I think it starts quite like Narciso Rodriguez for her.
Then it gets sweeter and sweeter, I can definitely smell guava, like pure guava in the middle.
And by the end there is a hint of honey and a bitter scent that I cannot identify.
A bit powdery, a bit fresh... quite intriguing. Sillage is discrete. But also sexy, you smell it if you get close.
Sophisticated. I would say that this is the perfume for a Lady Boss....
Smells like power. Like a CEO lady that bosses people around the company wearing her perfectly adjusted outfit..LOL
NO, definitely, this fragrance is for a strong woman. Who is in charge. In control.
I love it. It is my business fragrance. And yes, I am a Capricorn.
Someone mentioned below that it is a Very suitable fragrance for capricorn females.
I agree.

shusha

I really like this fragrance. I like most Gucci frags, they are beautifully balanced but I also noticed that they develop better and have greater sillage if your skin is warmer.
This little number is another example of blending done right. Yes, the patchouli does take the front stage, but for no longer than an hour, and it isn't bad. The drydown is a sophisticated interplay of honey and patchouli. For me, it is a scent that I would go to on those day I can't decide what mood I am in as it does have that neutral sort of aura, and I think it's important to have one of those, for me anyway. Good sillage (better if your skin is warmer) and longevity.

Charess

Gucci EDP is mainly patchouli and guava on my skin. Patchouli and guava are naturally quite bitter, so this fragrance is also quite bitter and sharp. The honey makes it somewhat sweeter, but the bitterness rules in this fragrance. In the drydown there's some musk and tiare flower, but I'm missing some depth and softness here.
Sillage is moderate, longevity is about 6-7 hours.

letamercy

This fragrance introduced me to the world of chypres and I have never looked back.

My first encounter with patchouli (one of my favourite notes since). Very well done! Honey is tricky on me, but the way it blends with patchouli and Tiare here is just wonderful. This comes off as cool and earthy, with a little sweetness from the tiare and guava. Works really well during cold, rainy weather.

My only issue with this one is the longevity. I am willing to overlook the poor sillage as long as it lasts at least 4 hours. Not so with GGI. Still, I will have this in my arsenal for as long as it's readily available.

Centsless

I reach for Gucci when I'm feeling a little mysterious and confident. The EDP version is my favorite of the two, the EDT was just a little boring to me. But mmm the darker, honeyed EDP...It's rich, classy and sexy smelling.

MWROMO

Nice dark well designed fragrance. Long lasting with well balanced notes. It may be mistaken for niche fragrance, and it is a massive compliment.
I keep repurchasing it, as it is one of these scents that I like to go back to.
10/10 from me!

Pinja

Anyone remember how when Gucci released this, they stated that they aimed to make a modern day Chanel No.5, in regards of the popularity and icon status. Did they succeed?

A patchouli heavy, sweet perfume, a fruitchouli, where the fruit is guava and pear, is tied to a certain era in perfumery and it just never was possible for Gucci by Gucci to become a timeless icon.

To me smells like: patchouli, honey, sweet fruit, gardenia, tobacco and a minty fresh note.

deda147

Very lovely opening. Fresh and fruity, which smelled great combined with the tropical tiare. The opening/mid don't last very long however, since a very spicy patchouli shows up rather quick. It is balanced by the musk/honey notes. The honey is not the sticky kind; it's more of the translucent, powdery veil kind of honey. A very nice rendition of the note, imo. The patchouli kind of ruins it on my skin, it's too earthy/spicy/dark. According to friends, this Gucci smells like an 'oriental shop' on me, which is not a good thing. Longevity is great and sillage is huge.

addiehominem

I immediately get tropical fruit punch-y guava and juicy pear from this. The honey is mild, mostly serving as an undercurrent for the fruit for the first few minutes. This perfume changes considerably as it dries down, which is rare for me to experience. It becomes muskier and more animalic as it dries, which I like. Surprisingly complex. This feels mature for me until it rounds out. It reminds me of my auntie until then. Best sprayed lightly.

rola.asad

This perfume reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez EDT, has a type of masculinity, sexy, and mysterious, I think Narciso's perfume lasts more on me and the musk within gives a deeper rich mixture ;)

I purchased a lot which included a 1 oz bottle of this scent, but then forgot about it! I was looking for something else today and found this one, so I decided to finally sample it. At first I wasn't sure what to make of it, but I thought I'd just ignore it for a while and see what happened. There is a floral element here that I'm not all that fond of, but it's not terrible and it does create some contrast. Otherwise, I really like it, (the notes seem right but there also seems to be a hint of something incense-like as well) and I was thinking it reminded me of something else, perhaps Phoenix by Keith Urban or EL's Sensuous Noir or Jesus Del Pozo's In Black. It's hard to compare these because I can only handle these scents once or month or more, but I do like them occasionally. At this point I'll keep the bottle and give it another chance before deciding to swap it.

Edemay

If you love perfumes like casmir and chergui, you will love this.
Its thick sweet and balmy with a medical and small masculine touch.
Its very dark and sexy.
Its not something I would usually go for but i will use my little sample up.
I also smell a lot of amber in this.
Highly suggest trying it before its hard to find.

kingdomforaperfume

This perfume is definitely a Signature scent Type. One you can be remembered by. IT gives the wearer the feeling of being the centre of the party, the woman talked about and written about. Of someone who is definitely inside and being commented on. This perfume is not for wishful and dreamy girls. The ad suits this frag 100%. Even if you don’t possess a natural "allure", this will lend it to you. Even the dullest of the dullest (pardon my french, I am only trying to make a point ) will come across as a woman of mystery. Dark and dangerous, definitely not a grinning naive bud. Wear it when you want to prevail, when you don’t want to be a victim and it will keep you afloat. This is a perfume for a woman who is determined to live and accepts that life isn't all ROSES. A masterpiece by Gucci.

justfloral

first minutes: chocolate + jasmine + patchouli - dark somewhat dirty mix
after 15 minutes: beautiful crystaline tiare flower + crispy pear/guava. Spacious.

Illuminaughty

Weird. I wonder if there's something wrong with my sample, or this fragrance just doesn't work with my body chemistry at all...'tis nothing like what so many of you describe.
There's almost no sillage whatsoever (have to basically rub my nose on the spot to smell it), short longevity and the scent feels somewhat sharp.
I get patchouli with an almost undetectable hint of honey and LOTS of musk. Quite unpleasant.

Elle Ayah

It is a very good composition. I love the patchouli in it. But Had to scrub it in half an hour because the guava became too overwhelming.

DeeDeeInAmsterdam

Does anyone know, has this one been reformulated too? I have a mini of this, i suppose it's older and i smell a very nutty note, its delicious. I also bought a new 50 ml bottle today and its smells nothing like the mini! at all, so dissapointed! i bought the new one in a big chain of perfumeries os no chance of fakes i suppose. what a bad idea this was, i hope I can sell it away..

briones

dark, strong ,bitter and sweet . just for winter.

GUCCI BY GUCCI edp..
Another perfume that is slowly bidding us goodbye, slowly making its exit, fading away.
In my country, it is EXTREMELY difficult to find it , searched every mall and every perfume counter, the salespersons would shake their heads at me "no, we dont have that here anymore". It is a rare item, you'd have to risk ordering online on Gucci website, which is not an option for me at all.
One day i got lucky, found a miniature bottle of this in a secluded perfume shop and i was over the moon.
It's deep, mysterious and mature scent. Not exactly sexy or seductive. I cant imagine young girls wearing this scent to college. I wont use this for datenights either but definitely yes when im in a presentation at work with grim hard-to-please bosses , put on my most persuasive smile, some twinkles in my eyes , strut my confidence around the room, drowning them with my GUCCI BY GUCCI EDP.
.

To me, oddly enough, GUCCI OUD and GUCCI BY GUCCI EDP smell alike. They could be sisters..? I know if one miserable day i cant find Gucci by Gucci anywhere else anymore, i can always pick up Gucci Oud to replace it and blow out my sorrows.
What do you think?
They DO smell alike , right..? tell me what you think. Please.

mschnabel666

I blind bought this... I'm tempted by anything with honey. I do detest patchouli as a whole, but find it irresistible when well blended. (Like Black Orchid)

I don't hate this, it's a like... very "meh" because it's not strong at all. If it was stronger, my feelings would go to love or hate easy. But it's just ok.

It's like Jimmy Choo EDP without the toffee. Very much a pear/patchouli scent. The patchouli is green/spicy and not hippie/body odor or medicinal/minty. And then the honey and musk takes over. And that's it. A musky honey/patch/pear.

It's ok.

I got the EDT too, and on the first spray, I think I prefer the EDT. Brighter, more character. Creamier. Sparkling without being too fruity/light.

______________________________________________________

I fell in love with Gucci's Rush some time ago and went to the store to purchase it. The saleswoman was somehow impressed of my knowledge of Gucci fragrances. She asked if I knew 'Gucci by Gucci'; since I didn't, she introduced me to it and it changed me.

Rarely did a fragrance catch me with guard down - but "Gucci by Gucci", just like its male counterpart, did. It somehow resembles a big soft hug from the rich aunt on Christmas Eve. It's soft and inviting, it's very present, but not obnoxious. It reminded me of cold winter evenings, spent with a loved one in front of the fire place.

The honey and musk notes fortify the core of this fragrance, patchouli, making it by far one of the best patchouli fragrances out there.

BlackAmberMoon

This has a dirty, sexy, retro-70s vibe that I like a lot. For women who like bold, assertive, slightly masculine scents. Best in fall/winter.

Coffee_Girl

I must admit, this is my favorite patchouli fragrance ever. It’s most impressive because I usually dislike strong honey notes, but this scent is refreshingly bold and complex. Gucci Gucci is certainly not mainstream and that in itself is a plus-- there is a dark sense of refinement about this fragrance-- I feel like I am transported through time and finding myself on a date with the Great Gatsby himself. It feels very much like a vintage piece but the tropical notes suggests a modern flair.

I tended to hate patchouli as a main component in most perfumes, as it tends to give a very dirty earthy vibe which reminds me too much of wet foliage for some reason. Even when blended with fruits or florals, it’s easy to become completely overwhelmed by the herbal-ness quality that I’ve often find myself a little queasy.

This is not the case with Gucci, as that “wet plant” quality seems to have been noticeably curbed, the patch here feels lush and opulent. It maintains a dark and boozy personality throughout; while the honey adds to the warmth of this fragrance, the patchouli stays cold and mysterious. Guava and pear top notes are subtle and are quietly overshadowed by the tiare flower which gives this fragrance a very tropical floral accord. Sillage and longevity are very good on me and I absolutely love the dry down, it smells like wealth, power, and seduction…this is confidence in a bottle.

Gucci feels very mature to me, and I don’t mean age…I mean sophistication, class, and elegance. It’s beautiful but I can’t imagine everyone loving it the same. I maintain that certain fragrances will choose its wearer and not the other way around; this is unfortunately the case with Gucci. If you can find a love for refined patchouli and honey, this is a great and nostalgic adventure. Worthy of a test but not a safe blind purchase.

MissButterfly

I adore patchouli and hate the honey note so I just had to get a sample. Indeed they are the most prominent notes in this composition, the rest adds the creaminess and mitigates this crazy pair. Patchouli and honey just don't go together.

The scent is very loud, sweet, rich and deep. For me it is way too much. I agree with the review of Zoranna, it has something of the 70's vibe. If it was a woman, it would be Mary Jane Watson (from first Spiderman issues), extroverted and intimidating sometimes, but definitely attractive and likeable.

It smells best during colder days. I wouldn't call it sexy.

Bruxadomar

I do not like it at all, glad I bought a sample first.

zoranna

I haven't seen the advert, but this scent definitely puts me in mind of the 1970's, in an airport executive lounge with orange and beige decor, wearing a DVF Wrap Dress... so classy in it's own way...there's a sweetness which sits the right side of cloying and it's done better than the modern sweet fruit-chouli and sickly scent trends that dominate recent launches. It's a creamy scent and I can see why many would love it. I am not a fan of patchouli and this note dominates for me, along with amber, a note I dislike. Amber isn't listed so this was unexpected. I can't detect tiare (which is a shame as I love this note and it often gets paired with coconut which is sacrilege to me!). I can't detect honey on my skin either which is a good thing for me as that scent makes me nauseous. There's not much staying power or projection for an EDP in my opinion. However, if the notes are appealing to your own tastes then it's definitely worth a try.

hannaheart

I got mine as a gift and unfortunately, I didn't like it. I even wondered at first if it was really for me since it smelled so masculine. Well, it turns out that it's for women but it's something my nose does not agree on. This is just a big punch of amber (though there's no amber listed on the notes but that's what I smell) when you spray it on that dries down to a very masculine woodsy smell. That's all I got from it. It's a perfume that's trying to be complex and I guess it is complex but that does not automatically translate to something that smells good.

antigone26

Gucci is a wonderful, musky honey smell. It's just a very elegant, night-time fragrance. I do tend to avoid wearing it too often since it reminds me so much of my mother (it's her signature fragrance) but it is a lovely perfume. Lasts for quite a long time, perhaps 3-5 hours.

kellymi

First spritz is hairspray-esque--but give it a minute.
Rich honey and the powdery Tiare flower add sweetness to the musk and patchouli.

Strong on my skin, and lasts. The bottle suits the scent.

Not a dinner-date, but an evening out for sure.

lulu169

absolutely love it! it´s just "so me" - dark, not sweet, mysterious, sexy, adult, sophisticated

nefabit

This is my go-to fragrance! Light enough for daytime, but sexy enough for night.
I'm very picky about my scents, and I dislike most women's perfume - too basic, flowery and powdery. But this . . this is sophisticated, mysterious, and still feminine. All the notes are well balanced, nothing jumps out at you. I'd describe it as warm and earthy, but still delicate. The tiare and guava makes it just a hint tropical, the patchouli and musk make it exotic, and the honey smooths it out. Just wonderful. Amazing if you want something feminine, not girly - sexy, not sweet.

The_Entity

As stated before, I cant see the fascination with Gucci frags that my friends have as like Chanel, they dont last on me. I can smell the pear in this, bit unisex for my tastes. The Iceberg frag is cheaper version of this

Rie60

Much like Gabricookies, I don't detect honey at all- and given that honey notes are the sheer killer of any perfume for me, thats saying something. I get a strong patchouli at first, but not the old boho hippie vibe that some have. This is a very refined elegant note followed and matched with a floral note and slight fruit at the end. I didn't think I would like this when seeing the notes, but I got a bottle in a swap and its fast becoming a favorite. I had a bit of worry about whether the "maturity" of this would end up smelling like a granny, but this mellows into more of an incense vibe. It lasts forever on me, and even many hours later I will catch a whiff even when it should have long gone silent to my nose.

sexyChris30

A very pleasant, warm, sugary pear develops into a musky honey/patchouli combo with the sweet tiare waffling here and there. This scent is inviting, rich and seductively mature. A very well blended, well crafted masterpiece of warmth. The top notes easily transition to the base simultaneously. What's not to love about this? It's sweet, powerful, and sensual for a crisp fall evening of glamour!

Alayna1011

This stuff smells great, and I think it is the perfect balance of musky honeyness and freshness. It's a little light on me but that's OK. I would describe it as a sexy scent, for sure.

Unfortunately, on me the longevity is just non-existent. I can spray 3-4 sprays on the back of my hand and it is a skin scent within 15 mins, and gone within an hour. I haven't experienced longevity this bad with anything else except TF's Cafe Rose (how weird, right?!). It's actually making me wonder if this has been reformulated, but no one is saying it has, so it is probbably just me and my unlucky skin chemistry. There is also no sillage :(

A bummer about the poor lasting power (and non-existent sillage) but it smells great, and wasn't too expensive for a big bottle. So I guess I'll keep spraying every half hour :)

ellenresia

Hot perfume for hot girls who feel confident, elegant, mysterious and will be a center of attention by her destiny. Gucci always perfect for my body especially this baby.
Perfect base note of patchouli, honey and musk are really awesome works on my body chemistry. I feel like hot, strong and confident woman when I wear this. Also the longevity is crazily 24 hours. It is just perfect one!

GabriCookies

I love this scent!
I really like patchouli but it's hard to find a patchouli that doesn't smell old and musty. Tom Ford's White patchouli is sadly a good example of that.

Gucci by Gucci gives me a very fresh patchouli vibe (you won't get a classier patchouli scent by the way, trust me), but at the same time it's also very creamy. I didn't think these two thing could go together, but they do!
I do get the Tiare flowers as part of this creaminess, and there is a slightly fruity note that I couldn't put my finger on. I don't detect honey at all...

I love this frag because in my opinion it perfectly balances the aggressiveness of patchouli with all the other sweet notes: it's a women's scent, but it does never get too feminine.
And of course the gorgeous bottle and advertisement can't go unnoticed. This fragrance really evokes a distant luxury, a modernist vibe from the '70s perhaps. Not very romantic or glamorous, but still quite elegant and... natural. More Farrah Fawcett than Doris Day :-)

8.5/10

aztzura

This was very strong at first spray and I was afraid this scent would be too heavy for my liking. However, after the dry down, the scent ideveloped into a honey, white floral and patchouli blend. Smells very expensive and the longevity is good. This smells very similar to Narciso Rodriguez. Beautiful fragrance and lovely bottle design.

ScarlettX

Strong for my taste, mostly I get musk and something spicy from it. And yes, there is some honey and patchouli, but the whole thing is not as sweet as you might think.
At least I don't consider is sweet.
Masculine and woody in my opinion.
The scent might have it's charms, but I guess I wouldn't wear it.

Elizabeth25

This was a blind buy for me and I definitely don't regret it at all. It's so far very deep, sophisticated and charming smell on me. I get a bit of masculine vibe but in a good way. And I also get a lot of compliments wearing this so I can picture this as my new signature scent for sure.

jess_27

Gucci by Gucci EDP is not being discontinued its still available to purchase on the Gucci online store and even if you go on the Gucci website and click on Gucci perfumes it has Classic Gucci perfumes for her Gucci By Gucci EDP if this fragrance was being discontinued they would removed it from the official Gucci website for sure.

Errhead

A whiff of this, and I think class, sophistication, maybe opulence. Epitome of feminity. Longevity rivals that of Mugler's Angel. Leaves a lovely silage trail. Its a shame it is being discontinued.

chrissyc15

Got a 1.7oz via Overstock.com for about $48! Score!!!!!

I got a 3ml decant of this from a website and tried it on. My husband walked up to me and said... "You smell amazing, almost like sex, or the possibility of.".... YES! That is DEFINITELY how I feel wearing it! SCORE! Love this perfume! I was looking for something sweet, hint of musk, dark, and the possibility of "kink". Something that would be fitting for 50 Shades of Gray if you know what I mean! ;)

It starts of very boozy like you have been getting nice and intoxicated and ready to loose your inhibitions. Then it settles and that sweet honey comes out spiraling with the musk and fruits. Its a beautiful combination. So feminine. So sexy. So captivating. The scent of a woman who is empowered and confident. It doesn't smell "older" like a lot of musk scents do. Perfect for ladies who are in their mid 20s-30s and coming into their own and not afraid to flaunt it!

I hate I am falling in love with it now that it is being discontinued, but I got a couple bottle on Overstock so hopefully that will last me a while. This will DEFINITELY be a date night/ going out on the town scent!

malwa

This is a classy classy scent. To be worn when I'm on a hot hot date. I just love it! And I'm on my 5th bottle and still going strong

samira1981

For me this is PER-FEC-TION! This is my signature scent and I am so dissapointed that it was discontinued.
Musky-honey-patchuli madness with some heavy florals. Dark, feminine and seductive. I feel like an irresistible goddess when I'm wearing this fragrance.

RosieRachel

Power perfume for the modern career woman! I'm convinced that you will be noticed wearing this! Gucci by Gucci is confident, metallic, demanding, deep and overwhelming. I definitely recognise this scent from shopping centres, hairdressers, cruise ships, etc... Unfortunately, to my nose there is just an overwhelmingly strong scent of something that reminds me of burning industrial chemicals or a nail salon... An extremely heavy monster - I split a tiny drop of this on my skin from the vial and after some very vigorous scrubbing it is still holding; however, it's calmed down now and is just a sweet patchouli floral smell. Absolutely not for me!

UPDATE: I wanted to understand why this perfume is so popular, so approached the vial again (with extreme caution) to determine what the top notes were that I couldn't stand... ah, patchouli and honey! I don't love the combination of either of those in extreme dosages, but I'm now beginning to understand how those notes mix to create a velvety scent which others enjoy :)

tapehissorchid

Gucci by Gucci is my choice "going out" scent for the incredibly boozey quality it has haha. Firstly, the bottle looks like one of those vintage heavy crystal liquor decanters. And the scent...usually at first spray I always let the alcohol evaporate before I take the first sniff, with this one the alcohol compliments the experience and I feel like I am smelling a real Jamaican rum cocktail in front of me.

The start is juicy, sweet and sharp. It settles down and is still boozy, but the juicy pear goes away. The pairing of honey and patchouli sounds like something that could turn too animalistic or mildewy but it is simply a lovely pairing here. It is sweet but dark and a bit smokey too. Despite these two heavy notes, the fragrance is not at all heavy on me . My only complaint is that it stays very close to the skin, I am a modest sprayer so I don't mind much but I can imagine this being a deal breaker for some who enjoy strong sillage.

oh yes and the video ad... the ladies and their hair and makeup, the sleek 70s dresses, the luxe decor, Blondie, Lynch... there are so many things I should love about this video yet it is laughably bad, not sure what went wrong.

ellina1984

Upon spraying, I get a sweaty/ BO note which I really dislike. Once settled, this reminds me very much of Gucci guilty, only still with a sweaty undertone. Pass.

melancholybaby

This is a nice fragrance, but somewhat overpowering for me, with a bit too much of a sweet note.

hippiechick13

This is definitely going to be my go-to Date Night fragrance.

It's got attitude, charm, sex appeal and is incredibly feminine. This is such a great scent, and lingers around in an enticing veil. Way too sexy and deep for work I think. This might become my event/function/party/night out staple.

At first, I got an almost boozy amber which then gave way to the fruit and tiare and that thing that Gucci fragrances do (I find it in Guilty as well) and after several more minutes, chills out and develops into what is a culmination of all these terrific notes. Warm, melting honey on the flesh. Eyes open and a smile curves lips. Sheets are everywhere. A stolen kiss. Outside, night shines in through the window, it's summer. An unexpected love affair.

llburris

I absolutely LOVE honey.....but sometimes patchouli is all I can smell in a fragrance when it's presence is so dominant. I have several with lots of patchouli that I totally love. However, there are just some mixtures that my nose can only smell the patchouli.....makes it too masculine for me *boo hiss* I was so hoping to love this. Someone suggested layering with Elie Saab. Maybe that will make it wearable for me, because I love ES.

brebtalka40

Many people like it a lot - but I am not among them. At first, I only smelt some aldehyd, it gave me a headache. After a while, there was the honey&patchouli mixture, but it seemed too artificial to me (and I still felt dizzy&uncomfortable). I tried it 14 days ago, but my impressions have not changed... Sorry Gucci, I am not buying it!

Littlegrassstraw

What an interesting fragrance to review! The first thing it made me think of was a red gummy bear or other small fruity sweet (guava+pear+honey?) fallen on skin covered in creamy oily smelling suncream (tiare?). Sort of nostalgic, feminine, almost but not quite girly atmosphere. At the same time though it has the feeling of being perfectly polished, like a dainty young lady who always has perfectly manicured nails and wears skirt suits. Not at all me, so I felt like I was wearing a young, classy woman's (very nice but somehow wrong) perfume, not MY perfume. I think it is perfect as the first "real" perfume for a young, feminine and very well dressed woman (not girl) or anyone exploring their soft/feminine/classy/pink side.
What really keeps my interest in this scent is the "mystery" note: In my opinion it is thyme (or possibly another herb) which gives an almost savoury/salty note which provides needed "resistance" to all the sweet and creamy notes. This is what keeps the largely fruity/creamy and inoffensive perfume from being boring or "sticky" and sets it apart.
On me this has very good longevity, sillage is moderate, gradually reducing.

ophelia

Liquid velvet - intoxicating, precious and warm.
I wouldn't add or change anything. Just perfect ♥

Yurpdod

I am not really the biggest fan of Gucci's fragrance canon (with the distinct exception of Rush and Pour Homme II) but I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance. It is not particularly complex or deep, but it is well done and the notes work together nicely. Mild, dry patchouli is tempered out with rich honey. Guava and tiare are provided mostly to balance out the honey-patchouli in the forefront, and the effect is lovely. It is seductive in a mature, womanly way and not a sexy/trampy way. Sillage and longevity are mildly disappointing, unfortunately. But the bottle is pretty and the color scheme of fragrance's presentation is absolutely perfect. Overall, it's nice.

Obssessed!

Really not sure what to think of this scent. At first it nice but the scent is weak, i can barely smell it. I get whisps of watered down honey and nothing else. The dry off on my skin sometimes smells like old frying oil?? or something thats been deep fried.
I really want to like this perfume as i love all the notes in it but theres times i spray it and it just smells odd. Maybe its just on me, but the honey and tiare i can smell in it.

Luthien999

Is it true that this perfume has been discontinued?? I like this perfume so much, it is a rich, sensual, seductive and glamourous scent. Perfect for the night out. Longevity is about 7 hours on my skin. I have to order this perfume once again. Fortunately, there are some bottles available on the website.

Staceyann74

Absolutely love this fragrance and am so sorry it has been discontinued. Every time I wear it I feel empowered somewhat like a femme fatale kinda Betty Davis-esque.

molliedollie

Warm honey, patchouli, and something slightly astringent at the start. (That could be the rose, actually? I've seen it listed as a note before, although it's not here.) I've been wearing this for several weeks straight, and I love it. This sounds a bit bizarre, but it makes me think of the colour and texture of mahogany.

luludemoiselle

not agressive but not welcoming either, passionate but pretentious, sensual but definitely not flirty, a woman with her head high, killer eyes, and walk of confidence. Men may find it love or hate, some are intoxicated while others well, intimidated

projectalice345

Woah. Good thing the reviews are better and more artful then the ad. The ad is silly. I blind bought a mini bottle based on the notes and the reviews. I will update. I am a big patchouli fan.

Hmmm....hello patchouli....are you in there????? I like really strong patchouli.......on me there is none at all, like I cant even believe other people are smelling it at on themselves. People are saying it was "heavy patchouli" on them......I was hoping for that. Not so on me, I am bummed about that. Its easy to wear, soft and very light. I would buy a bigger bottle eventually. Does Not come on too strong, is almost too sweet for me but then approaches the mark and backs off. Comforting, normal smell that I feel like I have smelled millions of times before. Its like honey i guess, although I cant tell the difference between honey and just like...a sweet smell. Like if I smelled it on me I would not think...ohhh yeah honey!!! Its just sort of a mild sweetness. Funny how everyone is like.....it smells so different!! I wonder what my chemistry is doing to it, it just sort of disappears in a very mild waft of something normal and faint.

its uplifting, mild, nice. I would get a bigger spray bottle some day, but im not in love with it. It needs some darker more spicey notes. It would be nice layered over something maybe. like actual patchouli. I feel like other people would like it on me more then I like it on myself in some way. Its doesnt last for that long on me eithor, but its nice.

gzalvares

Modern chypre, is not entirely female, i'm male and want for me! It's mature but it is not dated, dense, elegant, romantic. Great longevity and moderate sillage. Tested and is in my skin there 24 hours, even after bathing

Kanz Oman

I smell oud in this !

miss.stephanie

This perfume is simply amazing!

Natalie Carter

Gucci by Gucci is a really feminine perf, and the scent lasts long on the skin. I really smell honey and some other notes i can't define. Not overpowering but noticable scent. But there is too much alcohol and i worry about my skin. Anyway good frag:)

mozzaa

This one is in a class by itself. On my skin it stays and stays but it is not overwhelming at all. Gucci EDP oozes confidence, class, and dignity. Pride without arrogance. And it reallllly smells different unlike most popular scents. You will definitely stand out and stand out well if you wear it. Do give it a try- I know you will like it.

Irideika

I don't know if it's my skin composition that does this, but on me, this perfume sits way too close to the skin. And this is coming from someone who actually PREFERS perfumes that don't have too strong a sillage; who prefers when a perfume is a more personal intimate thing that only those who are standing in your "bubble" or give you a hug can smell. But this one, even I don't really smell it when I stick my nose right on the spots where it was applied. So definitely not something I would put any kind of $$ on. Soap probably has more olfactory presence than this.

ledavis727

After falling head over heels in love with the EDT version of this perfume I had to buy the EDP version also. The EDT is fantastic for during the day but the relatively weak lasting power made it difficult to wear on nights out without having to carry the entire bottle around with me. So when I got my bottle of the EDP in the mail I was very excited to try wearing it out. You can tell right off the bat that they are directly related; the initial patchouli opening coming in strong but then softened by the sweetness of the guava and honey... But the EDP version has a much deeper, smokier almost, honey note. The patchouli stays warm and snuggly for much longer, also. Very warm, dark, and seductive. Lasted much longer on my skin than the EDT. Looks like I'm set for day and progressing into night without having to drastically change smells. Both are classy, elegant and sophisitcated but this is definately the older sister of the pair, who spends her nights on the town surrounded by admirers.

millie1980

I really struggle to find suitable evening fragrances - they either just turn too sweet on my skin or are too overpowering in some way. This EDP is a rare thing for me, because it is very much an evening fragrance, but it never gets too sweet as it develops. The patchouli and honey balance each other very well. When you first spray, the patchouli dominates, but then a pretty honey note comes thorough. I can't really detect the fruit in the top notes, perhaps because the patchouli is so prominent.

aliora

This opens with the guava and pear, which is fruity, sweet, and candied. If you're into that, that's great. If you're not (like me), that's fine, because it doesn't last. After the fruits fade, it's mostly patchouli and honey with a bit of smokiness. For some who are not used to patchouli, this may come across as a bit too much, but those like me who love the likes of Angel, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Black Orchid and more, this really isn't that challenging. It's less intense than Prada Amber (the original Prada), which I personally consider a real "Patchouli bomb" but it does have a similar quality to it. This stays close to the skin without much sillage, but I'd say it's a nice evening fragrance for going out. I don't get the "masculine" vibe that some people have described, but who am I to say what is masculine and feminine?

In terms of strength, while it might be considered "sweet" in the beginning, I never get the sense that it's overwhelming. It's significantly faded after about 3 hours or so and you mostly get a nice patchouli with honey that only people who hug you would be able to smell.

Scout

The patchouli is barely there; I get mostly middle, top and "veil" notes out of this. It just kind of hangs there. My husband has said "gee you smell good" when I wear it, but I personally don't feel good in it. It wafts up and I get a "what was that??" feeling and then I'm realizing "oh, that's me."
A lot of fruit listed here, but I barely get any fruit. Some pear.
Might be good for the office if you're into patchouli and sweets but don't want the heavy frags that project "old lady" or "hippie" or "teen sugar." This is definitely light.

macheprofumo

Like it, wore it. The EDT is better. Very deep; for evenings and winter. Hard to find. Is Gucci re-launching it in a more modern version?

happygeisha

i smell patchouli and honey, equally.

oh yeah and its a darkly light scent, it really is! i know that doesn't make much sense but its winter-y and spicy but only a whisper on my skin. a few other reviews mentioned how heavy it was on their skin and i'm like, "SAY WHAT?!" even when i first spray it, it fades to a beautiful sweet honey dusted kiss. a light, sheer, warm hug. in fact, its so light that i had to re-spritz before i left work. 3 hours later and its still wafting gently to my nostrils, hahahaa. (sorry that sentence sounded ridiculous and made me laugh.)

kwika

I think it's one of the unique fragrances. I love it ^^

Radchick

Gucci is very heavy on patchouli, with the addition of some sweet notes. This fragrance is deep, dark, sweet, heavy, mysterious, and bordering on unisex. This is strong stuff, and I am a bit overwhelmed by it. I am a patchouli lover, but the patchouli in this is a bit too much for me.

perfumeaddiction

Hmmm this is a hard one to describe. When I sprayed it today my initial impression was OMG that is some strong stuff. Gucci is known for good quality perfume that lasts. That is what I always love about Gucci. So I sprayed it on my arm in my bedroom. A tiny spritz and as I sit here the whole room is filled in this gorgeous aroma. Fresh and very clean. This is a heavy fragrance no fruitiness, no candy smell... it's all Gucci. I think my only reservation might be that the fragrance has a unisex smell to it and I tend to run from anything that is not totally feminine. This is the only think keeping me from falling head over heals for it. The bottle itself is indeed gorgeous, stout and very well made.

Edited: I gave my nose a day of rest and sprayed Gucci Gucci on again. I must say that perhaps I did not give it a fair shake. This is a complex scent and I got on Macy's site and read the description. I think it's a fair description of the scent and as I wear it I am smelling more femininity. I'll continue to experiment and see where it goes.

Edited about a week later: I have fallen in love with this perfume. Now that we are in Fall weather a true love affair is brewing. I have decided that I enjoy the mild unisex note this perfume carries. It's not masculine. The aroma is pleasant and warm and deep. A great perfume for the Fall and Winter months.

sky74

Usually i hate heavy chypres. But I can't deny that this perfume is one AMAZING masterpiece. It is gorgeous, sexy, I loved it even when I was pregnant (I couldn't stand many smells then!). It reminds be a little of Coco Chanel, a bit more "serious".
p.s.
I hate the commercial. it is rather embaressing. Steals some of the big perfume's aura, not to mention David Lynch's credit (can you believe he directed that piece of crap?)!

Lakambini

This is very sweet, enveloping honey with a strong and sensual base of patchouli. The patchouli isn't masculine, it's actually very warm and womanly. The white flowers and fruit give a lift to what might otherwise be a heavy gourmand. This fragrance puts me in mind of a buxom brunette with limpid eyes and a languid and self-assured manner. Doesn't quite sound like perky old me, but, heck, some of the time we put on perfume to explore the hidden aspects of ourselves. Beautiful, and enough sillage to fill a room.

tanzp

this is one of my favs i love it! the sweet honey makes want to just drink this stuff! a nice day or night perfume a keeper ;]

arwen38

I bought this several months ago. I have only worn it twice. I find it strong for my taste. The honey and patchouli notes are quite heavy on me. I do agree with another reviewer who detects a minty note as well. I was going to return it but it smells amazing on my son!

Miss.Ursula

I bought it after three days of trying perfumes... at first, I loved it. After I bought it, I liked it but I was not in love with it. It is a good perfume though. It turns too sweet on me i guess...

DecoElegance

I love this frag, yet it disappears on my skin after only a few (and I do mean a few- three tops) hours. I am a huge fan of chypres, and I wanted so desperately for this to work. Not strong enough for my (perhaps) excessive taste and love of sillage monsters with a scent life of no less than 24 hours.

Pinja

In addition to the much talked about honey, guava and patchouli notes, some of us detect tobacco and mint/menthol notes here. Being such a thick fragrance, I was surprised at first to hear a comment that I smelled like "pool water" wearing this. After that I noticed the cold, cool note myself and now I can't get past it. Personally I would sum up GbyG like this:
Musk, fruit, menthol, patchouli, tobacco, amber.

bailarina

It smells very sexy, definitely for a grown woman. Very provocative. The opening was very honey like, some patchouli and musk. Hours later is softer and a little more fruity. For a night at a bar, and cold winters.

krayonkid

Gucci by Gucci is by all means for honey lovers. Its delectable, sweet and alluring. The guava and honey infuse to give you a exotic cocktail of fresh crispiness and sweet shivers of excitement.

I have worn this scent both during summer, and going into winter now, and the scent pretty much holds to it's longevity on me, 5 hours, the only difference is in the colder conditions, I have found the patchouli
to infiltrate that almost innocent gauva/honey combo, and you get this dirty, almost dark feel from the earthy patchouli, which is what most people probably sense as the masculine component.

Also in the colder climates I have to say the projection is a bit better, although not by much. where it would project just 2inches in warmer weather, it's projects about 4 inches in wintery situations. It certainly does give that warm sensation of when you get home and remove your jackets and attire and you're left with your shirt and that warm body temperature is expelled....

2746cstreet

Quite musky, heavy patchouli. I smell a lot of tiare & guava which gives a tropical slant, but not in an Escada way.
Mature, sensual.
Strong & long lasting.

Tara_Dan

I would never have picked Gucci Gucci myself. When a friend gave me a little gift set with lotion, shower gel and a small 5 ml sample, I sniffed it later at home and thought back about what I could have done to deserve this. Didn’t she like me anymore?? I decided that I would keep it only because it was a gift from this particular friend.

Occasionally though, I would splash a little touch of it, more to get done with it than anything else. Sure enough, with time, I have come to love it, and how. I LOVE, love, love it. The initial burst of guava, honey, patchouli and musk smell super sexy to me. It has this sweet, smoky, sultriness to it that I adore. At the same time, it smells (and IS) expensive and classy.

Later, when someone asked me what perfume I wanted as a gift, this was the one I wanted. So much for disliking it.

But, and there is a but unfortunately, as is almost fated to happen with the fragrances we love most, it’s gone in the time it takes me to walk around my house! - Okay, it isn’t that bad, but one hour after layering lotion and fume, it’s all but gone. There's only the slightest, lightest hint of musk. I’m so so disappointed by this aspect. I’ll just have to get a small size and carry it around with me on days (or rather nights, since this is an evening fragrance) I choose to wear it. Does last longer when sprayed on clothes, but sillage is next to non-existent *sigh*

Love it still. Would buy it again…and again.

sagranha

absolot lovely luxurios but for above 30 years old women

ingalee

Gucci by Gucci ... it smells so good I think! but was a little disappointed that it is not in so long, it's a pretty expensive perfume, so little it should stay, I think.
But it smells so good, you feel a little sexy! When you get a little closer to your skin, you feel it a little musk, honey and maybe a little spicy scent, perfect evening fragrance!!

liiva

Rich, dark, strong scent. Help to feel sexy and powerful. Perfect, dark make-up and this scent- very good combination!

Blue_Lady_Jane

I cannot speak professionally about the components, but all I can say is I get a warm & comfortable feeling from this perfume. It smells very classy and sophisticated for a non-niche perfume. I would consider similar to La Perla and Narciso Rodgriguez.

SundayMorning

Sweet & seductive, but on my skin, VERY similar to Vivianne Westwoods 'Boudoir' with its dirty, sexy, damp smell. Longlasting!

b@by

Excuse the phrase, but the term "power pussy" comes to mind when I smell this. It's a fragrance I can imagine a managing director of a huge investment company wearing, small men and women wilting in her wake as she makes the rounds. Much too strong for me, but it's definitely powerful and unique. Has a masculine twist to it.

evacecilias

What do you know...this is the perfume I sometimes have smelled on other women,thinking... Mmmm -
I wonder what´s she is wearing ?
By accident I found it !
Without knowing the notes I tried it and fell in love too.
The opening notes made me think of Strawberry pie, but that was. -
Guava and Pear....... ok ?
The lovely tiare is simply gorgeous, sweet but calm. not a screamy note anywere the base is lovely too . I usually dont like honey rather than eating it, but mixed with patchoulie and musk irs wonderful !
The subtle scent makes me think óf Elle Intense. but this is still different. Another frag it made me think of in the beginnning -are - Prada tendre.
This is a VERY well made perfume, to me for both day and night.
Dont be scared of by the dark and a bit old fashioned bottle...
This is a dream come true - for .... - a perfumista like myself !!!
Now - I am impressed by Gucci !

It's funny I'm Capricorn with rising in Aries, so is not strange that I like this perfume. I don't believe in astrology and say that this scent is for every woman that likes musky woody florals with a twist of sweetness and a peppery note of patcouli. I like that it's not another gourmand heavy vanilic fuity floral. It has warmth, depth, and is very versatile. I believe it can be suitable for morning if you apply a bit. I smell orange here, although is not listed. Also, I would swear I smell amber too, but I suppose this is honey that deceives my nose. It seems to me woody also........ Tiare is not prominent I think. Pear takes the first stage, together with soft patcouli. It is a quality perfume, not masculine. Warm, femminine, confident, although not an extraordinary one. Very well blended, and so abstract that can reach the taste of those who like florals, fruity patcouli, leathery smells and maybe chypres. It's not a chypre though....

incandescent

Gucci by Gucci is confident, sophisticated, no-nonsense, and seriously sexy. Someone mentioned this being an 'alpha woman' scent, and I agree. A femme fatale in a black suit and classic red lips. She's all about the clean, basic lines, rich fabrics, and prefers darker colors. Has a masculine vibe while being all woman. Very sweet, rich and deep scent but quite straight-forward and not too complicated. A dark and smooth honeyed patchouli laced with musk and a touch of fruits and flowers. Reeks of class, high society and expensive tastes. Best for evenings, perhaps a sexy night out with a black dress made of french lace...but if you're a boss, you can wear this to the office.

JUST FOR FUN: Perfect for a CAPRICORN or those with a Capricorn rising, the scent, and even the bottle design fits them to a T. Classy, somewhat stand-offish, ambitious and highly determined, it's definitely made for the Capricorn woman alright. Also would suit an Aries woman.

Lvsents

Very sexy, deep, dark, relaxing, soothing. Like it from first sniff. Nothing I don't like about it. Perfect from top to bottom. Very smooth, not abrasive. One of my favorites.

Sahsha

This is one of those fragrances you really have to fall in love with. I must admit that the initial blast is enough to put one off. it requires a lot of patience as will eventually develop into a wonderful rosey bouquet.

It isnt my favourite, and I will not invest in another bottle of this stuff however, the EDT version is to die for.

rickyrebarco

Terrible, terrible and more terrible. Whoever thought honey and patchouli and haitian vetiver would go together was out out of his or her alleged mind. Run, run, far away from this one!
The notes do not mesh, this is a sweet, sticky, funky mess. It screams 'mistake' or "what were they thinking" with every sniff.

Etulipia

Simple and special, has a lot of grace and style. Love it

perfumeandme

I am not fan patchouli mainly because it gives me headache but this one is really well blend. It has that smoky effect too and really sophisticated elegant scent. Some might find it cloying (if sprayed too much) so one is enough. Really classy scent and must have for winter!

Sophie.love

Honey,patchouli,honey,patchouli.....
Sweet ,in a adult way . Here, the honey and patchouli make a good team , transform it into something seductive, mysterious.
From my point of view Gucci by Gucci is unisex.
Longevity : 4-5 hours.
Worth the money.

larita91

First, I found it too mature and heavy like some parfume from the 50's but once I sprayed it on and waited 5 minutes...OMG! I'm only 21 and i am absolutely in love with this fragrance! Very-very classy, deep and mature, in a pleasant way. Patchouli and honey stands out, but this parfume smells perfectly balanced. This is one of my dream-parfumes. Sexy in a confindent, calm way. Really love it!

canadianpetite

The bottle is the reason I've put off trying this. The first time, I only sniffed the bottle rather than spray directly on my skin. The bottle is too intimidatingly classy -- felt like a twelve-year old wearing Chanel Coco. I finally went to Shoppers to enjoy browsing in peace.
Immediately, I detected patchouli and honey blanketing dried, rather than fleshy, peach. The honey seems to have wrapped itself around the peach and (especially) the guava, which served to dull the sweetness of both fruits. Together, the patchouli and honey gives the perfume its warmth, which I envision wearing with softest cashmere sweater, a Michael Kors large-face gold watch and sumptuous suede boots. The drydown is dry, dark and soft. Smokily alluring lending from amber and faint spices. Very classy and sophisticated for day or night (just amplify with another squirt or two). Sometimes, it smells like smoke, dark tea and molasses. I can see a masculine executive wearing this in the office. I would happily share a bottle with my husband. Suited for confident individualists who are open to scents other than the usual sugary-florals.

Sillage: on my skin, about 6" (with one spray)
Longevity: about 3 hours on me
Rating: 3/5

an.jorePipip

I don't really like it on paper, and one working day I sprayed it on my skin...and it's a gorgeous smell. It doesn't smell too feminine yet a bit masculine I supposed. I had a good feeling all day while keep sniffing it, and got many compliments. So I wouldn't hesitate to get the big bottle of this beautiful fragrance for what I have now is purse spray of 15ml with stunning liptick-like casing of Gucci pattern.

Gingersnpr

I introduced Gucci to Elie Saab. Mixed together on my skin they made sweet love. and I'm thrilled. I'm still partial to E.Saab but this together was/is great! I should be a matchmaker! Lol.

dkny27

What is to add after many wonderful reviews... There is a maturity to this scent, but it carries with it the sweetest kick of mild honey paired with a softly stated patchouli. Gorgeous for cool months, distinctly identified.... It's one of those, "I know that smell"...... Love it!

vickio92

I don't find this to be a fragrance for 30+ as others have said, though it wouldn't be appropriate for a teenager. This frangrrence says "Hello! I am a confident and sexy woman. I know what I want in life, and exactly how to obtain in it."

To me the Gucci by Gucci woman is sophisticated but wild. Men are driven crazy by her, women admire her. She is ambitious and confident. When I picture her I see a young 25-35) successful, and strikingly radiant career woman - the one all the men ogle at, the reason why the company must hold sexual harassment lectures. But she is so much more than just a pretty face; she is clever and witty. She is driven and passionate.

On first spray, i find Gucci by Gucci a bit harsh and cloying. However, after ten minutes this settles into this beautiful, warm, sweet and sensuous aroma. This fragrance just melts so well into my skin. It becomes musky, but not your grandmother's musky, but rather sexual creature kind of musky. It has the same sophistication as a Gucci bag from the classic line. Really quite lovely.

ginepro

(my picture of gucci by gucci, as described, is probably very very inspired by the commercial...;)

This perfume will always remind me of Rome, since i tried it on a few times when i was there on vacation in springtime 2008. That warm scent that melted in with the beautiful ocra, yellowish, brickcolored surroundings in that old city...a strong memory for me. I actually detected some cardamom in Gucci by Gucci but it couldn't have been, since it's not an ingrediens in the perfume. Still something about it reminded me a bit of cardamom. Still, a warm spicy scent. Glamourous and goldy in some way, i can imagine a very elegant, warm person wearing Gucci by Gucci. Dressed in sexy, elegant clothes with a touch of mysteria around her. She is probably laying on a luxury, antique divan surrounded my people dressed in gold and silky clothes. Incense in the air, dark outside... well, that's just my picture.

call me crazy, but theres something about the opening that reminds me of sweet oatmeal raisin cookies, fresh from the oven..

i love the fresh & clean smell of it. it lasts long and i would recommend to anyone.

If Dior's Pure Poison and Thierry Mugler's Alien were making a baby, this would be their baby. A lovely baby.

What a lovely offering from Gucci. I don't think anything else I've smelled from this house has been as lovely as this perfume. When I first sprayed it, it seemed identical to For Her by Narciso Rodriguez. It had the beautiful white florals and the rich, sweet scent of honey. As it dried down, the sweetness increased quite a bit, and the scent of guava became very clear. It's such an unexpected combination--juicy guava drizzled with honey. It had the potential to become another boring, summery, fruity floral, but Gucci gave it enough richness and depth to prevent that from being the case.

I see this as an evening perfume. I think it's magnetic, lush, and very sensual.

PricklyAndHot

Most of all I feel the musk and pear notes in this fragrance. It smells attractive enough.

I like it. But usually the pear note reminds me about the masculine fragrances, that is why I can't say that it's my cup of tea. I like more this edp version than edt.

Saster01

What I love about this perfume is how no one has it. I love the spice, the musk, the deepness. This is perfect for a cold winter day. The richness of this, could only be Gucci.

Batey2008

Sexy as hell Without a hint of rose or vanilla anywhere! I adore this fragrance! Compliments galore!

Eicher

I love this perfume. It is strong but not heavy. It could be unisex, I agree. I love the masculine notes in it. I wear it mainly in Autumn/Winter. A must have category.

jae

I tested this as soon as it was released years ago and found myself enjoying it. But I would not man up and own it until a few days ago. I love all of the notes included, so this is a joy to wear. But it's the honey, patchouli (the "masculinity" that everyone is identifying) and top notes that make this a must-have for me. This is somewhere between unisex (on skin) and feminine (on fabric). I can't find anything that I don't like about it AT ALL. I'm probably just a Gucci fan at heart.. LOL

Side Note: The EDT is extremely feminine, IMO and I'd recommend it to any woman..

i bought this for my mom years ago when i knew nothing about perfume. at the perfume counter smelling all these different scents and trying to work out which one to pick. than gucci by gucci was presented to me after i described my mom. some of the comments mentioned that this is a rich lady scent, elegant but strong, knows what she wants. i think this describe my mom pretty well. it is sweet but a grown up sweet. i found it a little masculine too with a smokey feel. it didnt strike me as a pretty floral which was one of the reasons i got it. i wouldnt wear it personally, though i like it.

sunshine0101

This is one Fragrance that I have got and I cannot put my finger on. I still find it difficult to describe it in words. It is not floral, it is not fruity, it is something complicated. I have tried so many fragrances and haven't smelled anything like it. Is it only me?

This was an impulse buy, the result of trying 10 million perfumes in one go and completely confusing your olfactory glands. The same thing happened to me when I bought Kenzo flower.

This will be an amazing layering frag and a stand alone one too. I have to be in mood to apply this. It is a masterpiece on its own and lasts all day.

A beautiful creation from Gucci and is unique IMO.
This will be a try before buy. Longevity is good for both EDT and EDP (I have both EDP and EDT version)

nikitajade

I adore this. It's got a smoky, very sexy fragrance on me. It's sultry. The honey is gorgeous, but unlike other honey fragrances, this isn't innocent. A gorgeous mystery.

ninavillager

This smells like church to me. On quiet afternoon,as sunset looms. Incense burning, flowers decaying. Your hopes and your fears, close to your chest.

This was my go-to perfume this winter - whenever I couldn't figure out what to put on this was always the choice. It can be worn to the office as well as a night out or special occasion, really gorgeous! I don't know if I would've picked it out for myself though but am glad my husband got it for me on Valentine's day last year..One of his favourites and mine. :)

Spicy

honey+patchouli mix makes it a bit "brandy" for my nose. Black and gold - that's what i would wear with it.

tosu

Love this Gucci edp its sweet, warm honey whith a big dose of patchouli.
I find it so soft and sensual and you just feel good wearing it at any time.
Love this one!

The initial blast of Gucci by Gucci is a bit disconcerting, strong patchouli, a little dark, a bit haunting then within seconds it starts to calm down and the fruity floral notes begin to creep out making it sweeter and more feminine, the honey adds warmth and the musk adds sexiness and all of this together equals pure sensual sophistication. My description of this would be sweet, feminine, haunting and lingering. The patchouli stays in the background sometimes strong sometimes mild and to me this adds a level of smokiness to the scent. Overall it's gorgeous, the silage is average and the lasting power is wonderful. In my early 20s this may be a bit too mature for me but I love it so. It reminds me of strength, confidence and sophistication. A definite winner in my book and dare I say, this is what signature scents are made of.

Gucci by Gucci is a perfect mix of comfortable, slightly dark, grown up, confident and cozy. The image I get is of a woman in a designer outfit dressed to impress and knowing what she wants. She is rich and she is not afraid to show it. Gucci smells very expensive and chic to me. And this is a bit strange because the composition does not strike me as overly complex or refined for that matter but yet it smells expensive and lavish.

The scent is honey sweet, so you have to like the honey note to appreciate it. The opening is honeyed pear and guava. Patchouli is noticeable right away but it lingers in the background. I think this is what some reviewers perceive as a masculine note. The scent develops into a strong tiare in the heart notes, which again smells to me more like a strong honey. The dry down is very musky but stays close to the skin. The musk is a bit masculine but the honey note softens it a bit. The scent lasts for at least 7 hours on my skin.

Overall score is 7.5/10. I changed my opinion from like to love and back to like many times for this scent, which is a bit unusual for me. The verdict is that I have to be in the right mood for this scent to wear it. The honeyed sweetness could be a bit too much even for me and I love the sweet scents. But overall this is a nice scent to have in my collection and I use it quite a bit during the cold months.

This scent is me. I love it and wish that all of me smelled like this, my home, my whole life. Wonderful fragrance that is powerful yet quiet. Sweet, fruity, honey-like, powdery and fresh at the same time. It is unlike many other fragrances which makes it unique. Absolutely a miracle. I am a big fan of everything from Gucci, but Gucci by Gucci is outstanding. A luxurious, rich, feminine scent! I often get compliments when I wear it, both from men and women. The only negative is that the smell does not stay that long, but I combine Gucci by Gucci's lotion with the perfume, which helps the scent to stay longer.

VERY SOPHISTICATED, ELEGANT AND RICH SCENT, SOME COMMENTS:

DONT USE IT IF YOU'RE UNDER 30
USE JUST A LITTLE BIT
USE IT AT NIGHT
NOT WEARABLE FOR WORK
THE SCENT IS SWEET LIKE LOLITA LEMPICKA BY LOLITA LEMPICKA NOT SWEET LIKE PINK SUGAR
LASTS AROUND 5 HOURS
STRONG AND POWERFUL, RICH LADY LIKE.

scribs

granted this is a womans scent, HOWEVER, i was given a sample of this after buying a cologne and they slipped it in my bag along with other male frag samples, i wore it and i was blown away, it is sweet but not sugary candy sweet its a rich sweetness with a lot of depth and warmth (if that makes any sense to anyone) the type of frag you would wear if you wanted to feel "cozy" , amazing projection and i got about 8 hours of longevity with it (imma call it UNISEX just cuz i wanna wear it) and if it doesnt pass, sue me :) id give it an 8.5 o.o. 10

This one, in my opinion, is one of the more 'friendly' Gucci scents. Usually, Gucci creates scents that are overwhelming in one way or the other. I tend to like these but most people I know seem to distaste them. However, this is a scent that most people like. It's not as spicy and heavy as the eau de Gucci, and it's not as fruity and bubblegum-ish as rush. I personally love to wear this, much more than the two former mentioned. They are for special occasions

Very_Joanne

I bought this on a whim whilst it was on offer so had only the notes to go on.
after trying it on I was suprised how sophisticated it was, whilst the honey does add warmth it is in no way cloying. there is a definate feeling of suede to this fragrance, It reminds me of when you are purchasing a new bag and you open it up to inhale the fragrance.
Its definately an autumn scent for me and the rich fragrance surrounds you like a warm knit jumper. the notes i get most are pachtouli & honey although both are well balanced .I feel like a woman when i wear this, which can be confusing as its definately not a girly scent and borders on the masculine.

elena61

I smelled one day at a local perfume shop and loved it. It is so elegant and powerful, but now being in my mid-20's I'll give it about 10 years to "grow" into it. This is for mature, secure, classy, very womanly women, for the one wearing high heels every day, not for girlish women wearing jeans and flip-flops occasionaly like me :)

lenchik55

This was definitely not love at first smell, or even at first wear. The top notes are too sharp and too sweet for my nose. But after a while, it mellows into the most amazing soft and creamy floral musk.

Not sure why, but on me it smells like a more sophisticated version of Narciso Rodriguez for Her. I just compared the ingredients and the only thing they have in common is the musk. Go figure.
