Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme by Gucci is a Woody Chypre fragrance for men. Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme was launched in 2008. The nose behind this fragrance is Aurelien Guichard. Top notes are Cypress, Violet and Bergamot; middle notes are Tobacco and Jasmine; base notes are Patchouli, Leather, Amber, Elemi resin and Olibanum.

The fragrance for men by the house of Gucci is expected to appear on the market in September. It stands for a masculine and modern companion of the last year\'s edition Gucci by Gucci.

The edition for men, Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme was created by Frida Giannini, creative director of the house of Gucci, in cooperation with Givaudan and P & G. The perfume is characterized as a modern chypre woody and includes notes of bergamot, cypress and violet in the top, the heart containing tobacco leaves and jasmine and the base notes consisting of patchouli, amber and Elemi – incense which is not derived from wood. When combined with tobacco leaves, Elemi contributes to intensity and longevity of a fragrance.

The bottle is made of transparent, steamy glass and is crowned with a silver top with a well-known symbol of horse-bit. Frida Giannini personally was in charge of design of this companion of the edition for women.

The face for the Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme commercial will be James Franco, and it will be directed by Jan Wentz. TV commercial was taped in black and white. The actor James Franco, in James Dean style passes through an apartment saying lyrics of the famous song by Bryan Ferry-a \"Slave to Love\" to his girlfriend. The recording session of this commercial was accompanied by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, who made photographs for the new perfume.

Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme includes bottles of 50 and 90ml EDT, 90 ml aftershave 90ml, 75 ml aftershave balsam, 200ml shampoo and 75ml deo stick.

The scent is amazing, one of my favourites but the longevity is just extremely weak :(

girlyjojohnson

A very rich man gave this to me while we were on a date. I’m not sure why. Anyway, this is a club fragrance. Meaning you need to put on your tightest fitting shirt, skinniest jeans, and finest pointy Italian shoes when wearing this. C’mon ladies we’re going out to the club. One time I wore it to work and it was borderline offensive to everyone around me. Smells like a beautiful man who is good in bed but a bad person.

I am impressed! I have tested this and l ll buy it for sure. Masculine, cypress-tobacco perfume for gentlemen only. I believe we can use it year around except hot summer days. I can't find something similar to this. It's really amazing and women seem to love this type of perfume on us. Perfect for use in the office or on a date. Longevity and sillage moderate. I don't care. 5-6 sprays and let women come closer to smell it on us.

masonreed

The first perfume i ever bought as a teenager. I wanted to smell "dark" and "sophisticated" and "mysterious". my mother steered me away from drakkar noire. The saleperson at macy's pointed me over to versace eros. I settled on this one instead, thinking i had found my signature fragrance. 6 months later I changed to terre d'hermes instead. Listen, it's not the worst fragrance ever, but it got sour and sickly over time, and was always obnoxiously synthetic and unsubtle. I might be tainted by memories of a confused youth but to me this smells of aspirational sophistication that hasn't been earned or realised.

Zpmghal

one of my the most loved scents in the world, but as always any beautiful scent usually comes across with awful longevity or sillage. i love scent so freaking much but others just can't smell it,all fragrances pretty weak on my skin and i gotta go with like 10 sprays to anyone barely notice me. But fragrance itself just perfect,i hate all tobacco fragrances but this one is definitely exception, its like light not intrusive tobacco with some fresh spiciness and hint of aromatic herbs. This is the perfect scent for a fall, this made me fall in love with tobacco. don't have enough words to express my love for it,all i can say its masculine, light not intrusive tobacco, good woods and its relaxing scent at all.
overall: 9/10
smell:29/10
sillage:1/10
longevity:3/10
good if you adore always carrying with you travel atomiser and spray 7 times every single time

punkboibluez

I really liked this scent. It very quickly became one of my favorites. My friends, however, LOVED it. All of them said I smelled amazing, and this is what they think all men should smell like. There were quite a few "you smell like a rich daddy" comments made. I agree, that is what this smell reminds me of. I wore the sample for two days, and I plan on getting a travel sized bottle in the coming weeks so I can spray it on for nights out.

OBrien

Smells like Don Draper. If you’re smooth and work in sales/business this probably won’t disappoint you. Easily a signature fragrance and a compliment getter. Performance sucks you’ll need a decanter

Deez_Nutz

Not my preference of fragrance. Very gentleman like. If you’re under 30 this is not what you are looking for. Imagine smoking a cigar in the woods with whiskey beside you and a trench coat. Above 50 yr old fragrance imo.

#419 in my "Tour de Fragrance"

Between it's introduction and its discontinuation I probably wore Gucci Nobile for business and office wear more than any other fougere. It's loss was tragic, but like eventually finding a new girlfriend, I found Houbigant's Duc de Vervins L'Extreme and a decade later Dior's Eau Sauvage Parfum and I got over the loss. Gucci's had hits and misses for me. I like and still have Mémoire d’une Odeur. I thought Guilty Pour Homme Parfum was so bad I gave it away. I've also had Gucci Envy until it was discontinued.

I like this Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme, which is supposedly also discontinued, though you still see it on Amazon and eBay. And some folks are saying Gucci Pour Homme is the same scent in a different bottle. I can neither confirm nor deny. I like this sample enough that if there were an EDP version of this scent available I'd own a bottle. It’s like most EDTs not much sillage, longevity three hours at best. A very masculine fragrance, very peppery, woody notes, not too much tobacco for my taste, and some bergamot. Good business wear stuff. Maybe a little dated, by like 20 years, but now you'd say it's a "classic" fragrance like Geoffrey Beene's "Bowling Green."

There are many scents that I'd wish for in an EDP, by Jacques Bogart, Lomani, Vicky Thiel, Ted Lapidus. But they are only available as very moderately performing EDTs, about which I have declared, "I will buy no more forever." At some point I hope to check out Guilty for Men Absolute for myself, if it's not discontinued by then.

Good hunting!

ardikidra

It's very masculine cypress-tobacco-woody. What sets this fragrance apart is its perfect balance – it's neither too overpowering nor too subtle, making it suitable for various occasions.

The quality of the ingredients is evident, resulting in a luxurious and refined scent that speaks volumes about the wearer's taste. Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme is more than just a fragrance; it's an olfactory journey that evolves beautifully on the skin.

Ba2siK

A bit too generic.

Spasticink

I have 2 older bottles from 2010-2015 period and it was ok, nothing groundbreaking but a solid cypress-tobacco-woody scent. Perfect offcie dumb-reach with nothing offensive.

Recently decided to buy a backup bottle from Notino, it was 2022 batch i think.
I was in SHOCK! Returned it right away! It's absolutely abysmal, disgusting, synthetic mess! Note break-down is nothing alike. Nothing like it was before! Coty is like L'Oreal ruins most of brands they acquire.

This is could have been a great fragrance if its performance was better.
The scent is an all year round signature scent, for the sophisticated gentlemen, but the sillage is so low and weak (skin scent to arms length even when applying quarter of a bottle) and longevity is poor - 3 hours approximately.
Too bad.
This could have easily been a niche quality purchase if the performance was monstrous.

Whateverwhocares

Zesty greens, citruses. Mild, masculine tobacco based scent. Nuanced and refined. Speaking to the original formula.

Amadevs

Oh, this one...
Only if it had some performance, would have been best work meetings male fragrance ever.
Declaring and standing your position without being aggressive.
Pity...

jojoxx89

Had this when I was in university about 13 years ago and it was an amazing fragrance with good lasting power.
Decided to get it again, 2019 batch, the performance is beyond terrible. They're better off just discontinuing this fragrance because it's pointless.
Such a shame.

ashroloie

I had this when it was released in 2008 and thought it smelled amazing. I can't remember it having bad performance back then because it just jumped off your skin all night long and got loads of compliments.

I looked this up recently and was genuinely shocked to see how much people now complain about it. Such a shame. This was always on the pricey side and no way should you spend 100 quid on this if its not lasting 8 hours plus.

straightupfragman

sad to hear performance is now extremely bad as the last commenter hinted. I say 'now' because it had a beastly performance in those days back in 2008 when I first had it. I actually am now tempted to get one again just to see for myself how downhill it has gone. It pulled compliments from colleagues left and right. What is happening to these companies man?

Bobozare

This scent is average. Extremely bad performance!!

HorlicksB4Bed

Average scent, dreadful performance.

Wow, I’m late to the party on this one. What a nice, versatile fragrance. I can see this one as an office scent or a date night fragrance. I’m a sucker for tobacco and cypress in a composition and here these are blended beautifully. Yes, this is not a projection beast, but it’s also more than a skin-scent. I get about 5hrs longevity with Gucci by Gucci.

LostSock

I love this scent. If I was rating it on the fragrance alone it'd get a straight 10. The longevity is absolutely woeful though, I can barely smell it on myself after 2-3 minutes, even on clothes it just disappears.

It's a real shame as this is signature scent worthy, it just doesn't last whatsoever. I have two bottles of it, I like it that much, I just wish I didn't need to take an atomiser with me whenever I choose to wear it.

I really hope Gucci release an EDP or Parfum of this. I won't hold my breath though, they'll likely discontinue it like they did with Envy, if they haven't already (I'm assuming it's still on the go as it's very easy to find.)

Scent of gentleman

A nice fragrance that smells divine, but performs so weakly. Almost disappear in minutes despite the heavy sprays on skin and shirt, leaving a very subtle skin scent. What a pity...

Bjerknez

Thats just not good at all. I own it for 4 years and only used it once. Garage next.

NJscents

One of the most frustrating fragrances I’ve ever had. Wonderful tobacco and violet notes….masculine and easy to wear. Just a great creation. Sadly the performance is horrid. I’ve only worn it in colder weather so maybe warmer weather will improve things but this scent becomes a skin scent quickly and silliage is pretty nonexistent. Overspraying is a must if want many hours of performance.

ivelino

Clean and sexy men's fragrance - performs better in warm weather. Longevity is poor however, even if you purchase the original version from the time it has been initially released. The older batches perform better and the tobacco note is more pronounced, but it's hard to find now and not worth the effort with so many modern-day fragrance choices. With reformulation and such poor performance it's not worth buying unless you want an expensive room spray. Gucci house used to release great fragrances, but after it has been acquired by the french holding Kering it has obviously lost its character.

Mazii

What a sublime fragrance! Whenever I encounter this, I'm reminded of why I got into this hobby all those years ago..
Fresh tobacco for those who are horrified of the note. Its almost impossible to dislike this, the slightly mediocre performance notwithstanding.
Underrated gem in an underwhelming fragrance house.

likesleet

i didn't get any specific notes from this. it just smelled like dove mens unflavored deodorant

frederickf_

Beautiful violet with lush tobacco. Sophisticated and extremely elegant. I think this would be stunning on a woman just as it is on us guys. Maybe more so. Definitely a unisex vibe.

nelsongil13

Gucci by Gucci
I'll start by saying that it's been in my top 5 for six years and it looks like it will be in my top 5 for life.
I think they made an excellent choice with James Franco as the advertising image, the warmth of his gaze defines the essence of gucci by gucci.

All in agreement with its sillage, I deduce that it is extremely "intimate", for personal enjoyment and for those people who enjoy our extreme confidence, so much so to allow them to get close to our neck or chest and feel it in its maximum splendor.

Its aroma gives me a certain serenity, when I have insomnia, I apply a little on my wrist and immediately feel calm, maybe it is the incense note and/or its balsamic accord.

Yes it is true; very Italian scent, elegant and seductive, for formal and evening wear. Easily the signature fragrance for a gentleman.

With one of the best opening I've ever felt, in one word, "perfect". It smells great, too bad it fades so fast,

To my personal taste one of the 5 best tobacco notes I've tried, (pure havane, versace man, gucci envy & michael by Michael kors). Also I perceive a small "bitter" and woody hint which fascinates me a lot.

The bottle is already in the major leagues of design, perfect for collection even if you don't like the contents.

I pray that someday a "parfum or intense" version will be released, the one that came out in 2015, "Gucci pour Homme" with the silver lined box, failed to repair the "defect" of the sillage.

Gucci by Gucci, my respect and admiration, we all have plenty of reasons to criticize its performance, but few of us doubt the quality of its scent, its essence and its impact on perfumery.

"Runs with me until the end”

edodemo

Smell wise, it is an amazing fresh-spicy fragrance. There are not a lot of fragrances that can even compete with the smell of Gucci pour Homme. At the other end of the spectrum, longetivity is an absolute disaster, not to mention the alcholic/watery scent it relaeses after a while. It is discontenting that such an amazing smell is ruined by weak performance.

GetGUD

To my nose, saying this smells like Abyan (which I own & really enjoy) feels like a stretch that I can't wrap my head around. Abyan comes off (and to me, remains) much more fruity & sweet. For me, they have similar(ish) aspects but I honestly couldn't draw a big comparison between them. Abyan feels much more casual while GBGPH comes off much more of a date night, possibly even dressed up (suit, maybe no tie), though I feel others do that better.

This was an immediate & utter love at first sniff for me. So incredibly intoxicating, manly, grown up, elegant & sexy, but you need to love Tobacco (and I mean love) to really get into this one.

Musky_Mania

Love this in the winter, and it does smell kinda like RL romance silver imo.

bierhaus

I like the scent but I'm not sure I like it as a cologne. There is some complexity and depth to it and that aspect is awesome. However, the overarching impression to me is it smells like household cleaners. A mix of Pine-Sol and perhaps Lemon Pledge? I love the smell of both as cleaners, but I'm not sure I want to smell like them. It smells "good" but I don't think it is an attractive scent. If I smelled this on someone else I could easily assume they had just cleaned their bathroom.

jbuzzz

Man, I love this one so much. The perfect type of "woody" profile. Very nicely balanced with the other notes. Just fantastic fragrance. The only thing is it has pretty bad projection and less than moderate performance, at least so far while I've had it. Like a million other fragrance suggestions we've all heard, I'll let this sit alone in the corner all by itself to see if it matures and gets stronger with better performance. I hope so, and will probably wear some it in the meantime, but will just spray more than usual..

And, as vented in another thread, Gucci stop making a million Guilty flankers, and simply make ONE of this one, an intense version. One that is the exact same scent profile, but just stronger. I'm tired of endless flankers, but intense versions of fragrances like this I welcome with open arms.

Bradjohnson54

Man. This stuff brings such mixed reviews for me. First, I love it. The cypress and tobacco and jasmine are top notch. It's classy, elegant, masculine, not outdated at all. It is 100% signature scent worthy and I feel it's appropriate for all seasons. Seriously, the scent is a masterpiece. Now that that's out of the way. The performance sucks. 3-5 hours if you're lucky. It's truly a shame the performance is below average to abysmal. Oh well, I'll still always have a bottle because it smells that damn good.

Novocaine

Why aren't tobacco perfumes made that way?

Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme a combination of tobacco, violet and cypress, unique, memorable is a legacy that Aurelian Guichard leaves behind, another masterpiece of the house, undeservedly thrown into the shadows.

Gucci by Gucci is a brilliant perfume that has unfortunately been forgotten. I say this because it is unique, a piece of classic and modern art at the same time with a note of fresh aromatic tobacco, slightly smoked... a little hint of darkness. The novelty of this creation comes through the introduction of the Violet and Cypress instead of the sweet or gourmand notes we are used to, transforming the perfume into something green, ozonic and crisp. It makes me think of the air you breathe into the forest after a heavy rain.

It has a romantic vibe, it is tailored by a hand that knows very well how to bring delicacy in a perfume into the same place with elegance and masculinity. A classic italian DNA. The notes may not say much, but the story is what matters. This perfume deserves a sequel that unfortunately I have not found elsewhere.

Performance is typical eau de toilette. On the skin last quite a bit, maybe a few hours due to the reformulations instead I recommend it to be sprayed on clothes. Sillage and projection average. This fragrance requires to be used in autumn and spring on cold temperatures, being quite versatile. Pair it with a shirt, a sweater or a leather jacket.

Gucci by Gucci must be placed alongside the other sacred monsters of the house, Pour Homme, Envy and Rush. It deserves its place in the category of the most successful perfumes, both by its unique factor given by the combination of notes and by the smell. Gucii's souvenir chest would otherwise be much poorer.

Vince1964

Classic and quite memorable Gucci.
Warm and woody with violet, amber and subtle tobacco notes that shine through the most for me. Decent projection, sillage and longevity. Bright and cripsy opening and sublte, sultry warm yet breezy dry down.

Very hard to dissapoint, its just a great fragrance day or night or for anywear.

kobo237cs

A piece of art. An absolute love for me. This started my fragrance journey. Still I have not managed to find any fragrance close to this one. There is a reason it has not been replicated by any other fragrance out there. It is unique and a scent that definitely needs to be revived. It has nothing to do with the guilty line which is the wrong way Gucci has taken. Gucci has released some of the greatest scents of all time, but sadly rejects her own beauties. Gucci, please continue this line and respect your loyal customers. Aurelien Guichard unfolded his best talent with this one.

sampants

#1 best smelling out of all my collection. Sadly does not last long enough to buy a full bottle, so I will be cherishing my 10ml sample while it lasts. I will be looking for a longer lasting alternative to this if anyone has suggestions

gman298429

The very essence and epitome of a true seductive, masculine, and classy Italian scent. This is perfezione (perfection) and bellezza (beauty) in a bottle! You will not be disappointed on a blind buy of this one. Perfect for a date night, but so versatile it basically can be worn in any season or any time of day/night. Probably leans slightly green, but the tobacco and leather balance that out, as well. True masterpiece! Molto Bello!

Patrick_Bateman

No question about it, this is my favorite perfume of all time. It can turn a bad day into a good one, and even heavy raining outside can feel like pure sunshine. It's almost magical.

bolancb

MASTERPIECE!!! PLSSSSSSS GUCCI MAKE AN EAU DE PARFUM OR PARFUM FLANKER! WOMAN GO BONKERS OVER THIS SCENT! NO JOKE MAKES EM WEAK IN THE KNEES...... ✌🏼❤

Alireza.D2

Am I the only one who feels touches of menthol, mint and patchouli notes here?
Its beautiful and rather casual.
Cypress and mint on the opening imo which dries down to soft leather amber patchouli combination.
You will probably be disappointed about projection and longevity.
3.75/5
Age:+25
Spring and autumn days and nights.
Casual and masculine.
Weak longevity and projection.

yazbaran

Perfect scent however longevity performance is not good enough. This could be my signature scent in terms of smell but it does not go long

BK frag

Gucci pour Home and Gucci by Gucci are different. Older one is more fresh, light, and unique. Gucci by Gucci is weak, dark, and rather generic. Bought online, thinking old version, but regret only. Not bad but different, so I wouldn't buy this later.

Booman

Gucci's date night fragrance.

Invasionbg

Very interesting fragrance. Recently bought a 90ml bottle and having 5 more 3 of 50ml and 2 of 90ml so if someone is interested.... Contact me
Anyway. So from very forest-ish smell to tobacco clean to very dry, linen clean smell. The longevity it's not as bad as I thought. Also there is a good projection. I like it though, but I expected more tobacco. I guess this will grow on me a lot, just need more wearing. Great fragrance - 7.8/10

MCLXIX

They were selling this at my local B&M and I only bought one bottle because I’m a moron.

shilpithshetty

Very unique and nice fragrance, can easily be a signature scent....perfect for spring, fall

sameenuk

Nice very forestry green scent.
I'm impressed with it's longevity as a skin scent. Been six hours now and it still projects.

Surprisingly linear given the price tag

Boris514

I got a sample of this but it wasn't a spray bottle. I applied it to a piece of clothing to test and the initial smell was strong moonshine. I came back to it after some time and decided to apply it to my skin and once it dries down, the moonshine scent dissipates and this turns into a great scent. Performance is quite bad so you need to overspray on this one or carry a small atomizer to reapply. I would say this is ideally for men aged 25 to 40.

waseemmtanos

It could be a legend if its performance was better than it is!
Still it is a masterpiece...

Fragaddict123

One of few fragrances that kept their uniqueness until today never smelled something like it and I don’t think I will
Great masculine fragrance

Gsidedgdb

God this smells heavenly. If only it projected the slightest bit and lasted more than an hour. It could've been a perfect signature scent but it falls flat in all aspects except the actual scent itself. Still, a solid like from me.

Jrskorick

Tbh I don’t think this is really worth it to me, it’s kinda basic and bland. If you come across this in the store please please try it on your skin before you get it, they opening smells very sweet but just almost instantly falls off into something completely different, the longevity is below average and the projection is also bad. Do your research before buying and don’t get sold on the top note.

Marssade

This is the definition of man. Perfect for every occasion. You can wear this everywear anytime although i think its better with leather jacket or a suit. But goes perfectly even with a white tshirt... Brings me back so many memories. Love it.

C.P.71

Discontinued! :-(

PurrParfumFan

I really like this fragrance, but my breath gets taken away and a massive migraine is induced if I spray on more than 1 spray.
I can wear 4 sprays of J’adore Extrait De Parfum, and 8 sprays of Chanel N°5 Eau De Parfum without getting a headache.
How this one causes a hangover-like headache I’ll never know.
I won’t be replacing it when it runs out if it ever even does.

stephen.redeker

I've been waiting to get this one for a long time, after having tried so many other Gucci fragrances recently. Hate to say it, but this is just another woody aromatic. It doesn't jump out at me as a "wow, this one is special" fragrance like the Gucci Pour Homme 2003. Are you telling me they axed that for this one? What a shame. There's a reason this one doesn't get any mentions in the fragrance community, and with Youtubers. Don't think I've seen this on a top 10 list, ever. This fragrance isn't bad at all, it's a borderline like/okay for me. I've experienced hundreds of frags over the past few years since I got really interested in them, so at this point, I've been spoiled by masterpieces in this category. Perhaps if I found this earlier I'd be higher on it. The bottle is nice; Gucci is the master of clunky, heavy glass bottles and this one doesn't disappoint.

Onsmupske

Zesty, woody, pine-y tobacco scent.

* I smell on paper*
Zesty wood because of the bergamot, pine-y because of the cypress and the tabacco makes it gentleman like. It smells expensive, but still a crowd pleaser so you can wear it at the office. It doesn't smell like paper, but I reckon if you like the smell of paper from old books, you will also like this one if you don't mind a pinch of flowers.
I hear some say smokey, but I hate smokey and don't find this smokey at all.

* My womanly 28 y/o opinion *
To me this is a panty dropper. Smells just like James Bond would smell. A confident gentleman who knows how to charmely pop open champagne. You can only wear this from about 30 years old and if you have a calm personality. If you are very extraverted or emotional, the spell that comes along with this scent might be spoiled. Don't tell them, but I buy this one for every boyfriend I have.

To conclude:
You have to love cypress (pine like smell), bergamot (citrussy wood), tobacco smell and don't mind a little flower.
It's widely available, so try it at a store on your skin first! :)

HammerDownRollIn

This smells similar to moonshine, not tobacco. Pretty bad.

caifan

Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme is a woody and aromatic fragrance.

At its opening the combination of violet and citrus leaves gives me an olfactory illusion like grape juice. In a few minutes a woody base of mainly tobacco and cypress and to a lesser extent patchouli and amber emerges.

I love the scent in general and it would be one of the best fragrances if it performed better. I have the bottle that now says Gucci Pour Homme, but it is the same aroma as when it said Gucci by Gucci, and the projection was always just as low, although smelling it on my wrist is perceived for about 8 hours.

It's fresh and woody, but not fresh enough to be used in summer or spicy enough to be used in winter, so its best settings are spring and fall and the office.

CologneProfessor

I like this one, I don't love it. I bought this one at the mall when I was going through a tough time with a break up. I wanted something that would pump up that confidence after being out of the game for a minute. This smell is nice but wasn't exactly a compliment getter. Maybe it had a placebo effect on me because I didn't wear it much but just from wearing it occasionally it did build my confidence up a bit. I've been blessed to have some smoking hot women as my GF's. This is one of the best bottles I've seen in a fragrance. This right here is strong and sturdy and this fragrance made me feel strong and sturdy. The dry down for me is the best part of this. I wouldn't pay more than 45 for this but I bought this at 80. (90mL bottle)

OliverMattsson

Sexy and traditionally ’manly’ scent. Far better than Gucci Sport. Easy to wear, which also means it’s modern, close to bland. Wood, oud, citrus, slightly spicy.

GGI

My partner insisted on purchasing this fragrance for me shortly after it's release. "Sex in a bottle" is how she described it.

I absolutely love the tobacco note in here, and paired with the other notes, creates a classy, masculine, smoky and seductive composition. It's a shame about the poor performance though. Fits a reserved personality.

The rating on this one should be higher. I agree with some of the reviewers below, this is overlooked and indeed underrated.

Occasion - Intimate

Weather - Cool(Autumn & Spring)

Gucci needs to release a longer lasting eau de parfum flanker. I would blind buy it!

Imad M.

Growing up we all have heard of Gucci, probably one of the most well known designers on earth. When I started my search into the fragrance community I had to own Gucci, I couldnt care less about how it smelled, I just had to own Gucci. So my first fragrance I bought when I got into the community, was Gucci Pour Homme.

The Good:
The good is all in the smell, 100% nothing about the smell do I hate. It's warm and spicy with a good amount of tobacco. You don't smell like a chain smoker when smelling this but the Tobacco is just enough to enjoy. I honestly had a hard time pinpointing certain notes in the note pyramid except for Tobacco. As someone who does Leather crafting as a hobby I found no hints of leather. This isn't to say the smell is bad(it is perfect) I just cant pin point some notes that are supposed to be in here. Finally the bottle, it's just such a dope looking bottle with the weird pin like thing on top, I love it.

The Bad:
The biggest shortcoming is the longevity and projection. It turns into a skin scent like 2 hours in. Yes the smell is amazing but this just makes me so sad. An amazing scent that is fantastic but turns into a skin scent in no time.

Conclusion: Honestly one of the best scents in my collection, if it wasn't for the terrible projection and Longevity. The fragrance is pretty cheap on most websites and I got me 2019 batch online for like $40.

straightupfragman

When I used this back in school days, it earned me tons of compliments from both males and females. The masculine and gorgeous smell always made me feel I was in control. Hard to explain but a masterful formulation in a bottle by Gucci. Won't hesitate to buy again for sure.

creekjam

I smelled this in a magazine insert years ago, and practically huffed it dry. It was always too expensive for me to justify buying, but I recently bit the bullet. Wow, it's exactly what I was hoping it would be! I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews, and mentions of it seeming watered down. My bottle does not seem watered down at all; I'm experiencing great performance with this fragrance. Sexy and masculine, citrusy up front, then mellows to a beautiful tobacco, woodsy smell. Too bad there's a pandemic at the moment, and I can't wear it anywhere fancy!

FreddyK

This is so strooooong. Can't even smell it or tell the notes !

SkunkApe

Smells like a duty-free shop, or maybe it's the other way around. Anyway, it reminds me of an airport.

Khoi Hoang Le

Beautiful scent with lack of performance. Lasts about 5h top, and becomes a skin scent after 2 hours. It's never a big projector by any means, people would literally need to be right next to you to smell it after 2 hours. Great date scent. Very sophisticated, classy, safe and not overpowering. If you can't stand sweet fragrances and looking for a fresher sensual date fragrance, get this one. I don't recommend going heavy on the spray though because the scent itself can be pretty thick. Just do like 5 sprays first, then reapply 1-2 sprays after 5h. This one of the staples in my collection just for the beautiful scent itself. Do keep in mind that it smell a little sweeter on clothes (just a tiny bit from the tobacco) and last a little longer on clothes too (about 6-7 hours, but a light scent).

UPDATE: After wearing this a little more, I've gotta say the performance seem to be worse than what I thought it originally was. I still can detect it at the 5h mark if I really smell it up close, but everyone in my family said they couldn't smell it at all anymore (that was about the 3h mark). You'd probably have to reapply this one very often if you want people to smell it. It's a very pleasant scent and everyone seem to like it, so if people can smell you they will compliment you on it. On clothes it becomes really faint after 6h

Amjn

The second fragrance I ever bought. Simply intoxicating. Patchouli, amber, tobacco and cypress. Clean and fresh. Yes the longevity is not great (~4h) and the projection isn't far. But that is what makes it a great office scent, who wants to accost everyone and bring about a no scent policy anyways.

Unmodernize

It’s allright. Regined and masculine. Keyword for dry down is incense!

I think it kind of resembles Alien Man in the final stages.

Jkersting

This is my #1 favorite of all time. I put it above my favorite TF and Creed colognes.

Don't not get this because it doesn't "perform well". I always buy a small atomizer from Amazon and transfer some fragrance to carry with me. If it starts getting weak just reapply as needed.

This has a very sophisticated scent through it's entire life. It starts out and ends beautifully (not like glue!?). Also please tell me what glue you use so I know what to buy from now on! Lol, jokes aside it is a beautiful floral woody fragrance. It has a hint of tobacco in the most pleasant presentation of this ingredient that I've ever seen! Worth a shot for sure.

Bison blues

I know this one has always been pretty soft/weak, it I feel like they maybe reformulated more to where it has lost almost all potency! Disappointing because this is a lovely scent.

hardkorehiggy

This one surprised me!! Bery masculine dry tobacco spoces6!! Real much man a ent to bas it doesn't last more than 30 mins :(

Ekoo

opens up smelling like straight up glue for a few minutes. but then it starts to change and it really gets good this is a tabacco scent that is not paired with sweetness and it smell goood but unfortunatly doesnt perform that good.

hellogoddag

This is a very nice luxurious fragrance. Absolutely love the bottle, and not least the cap.

The scent reminds me of forest fruit tea. Not exactly, but in that direction + grey masculine steam. Not a sweet fragrance. More dry and smoky floral

I love Gucci male releases from before 2010. Gucci by Gucci is one of them. But it's not a must have for me.

spencediddy

Used to be my go to evening fragrance. Unique date night. Never had a bad comment. Go light on the sprays.

What a thoroughly FRUSTRATING fragrance!!! Gucci Pour Homme is my absolute favorite men's cologne on the market today--because of its "perfectly modernized" 70s/80s scent! (It is heaven when I get the chance to spray it on at Macy's cologne counter). But I refuse to buy it because of its poor performance and value.....It's effectively a "very light" skin-scent, after the below average projection of the first hour or two!

What both utterly confounds me and ticks me off about the poor performance is that if you take a look at the note breakdown, this fragrance is primarily made up of otherwise STRONG scents (Tobacco, Cypress, Violet, Patchouli, Leather, Resin)???? So it seems that the only one making out ($$$) on this fragrance is Gucci, because it appears they could easily "improve" the performance of this beauty...... if they wanted to :(

P.S. (I noticed the following only after writing my post): Check out how many men "love" this fragrance (below), but cannot recommend it due to poor performance. Shame on you,Gucci!

SJC

Great fragrance but poor performance. Creamy element on dry down reminds me a little of Gucci Guilty which has better performance. Would not purchase.

gonomon

On first spray its fresh, its actually like the mainstream citrus fragrances in the opening. After some time passes though, it starts to change into a more heavy scent. This heaviness comes from cypress i believe. You can sense it is like a niche smell that strives to be a mainstream cologne. Even though it has tobacco in the notes, don't worry its not overwhelming like tom ford tobacco vanille. The tobacco in this one is perfectly under control. Even though i somehow like the smell, i can't recommend it because of really low silage.
TL;DR: Mainstream Frag with nichy twist, poor silage.

APULIAN

i remember when it first came out in 2008, i discovered this edt maybe one year later with a sample from a friend. at that time the reputation of gucci by gucci p.h. was "safe, generic, easy" and the main-eventer was the one by dolce and gabbana, all before the "decade of decadence" in the fragrance game started by bleu de chanel and completed by sauvage and its clones.
i think gucci by gucci p.h. in 2019 deserves another reputation. considering the modern offering, this scent smells now more complex, interesting and very masculine. it opens with a fresh cypress and maybe vetiver, then a pleasant tobacco became the leader of the drydown, mixed with other woody notes. it is a very nice fragrance for a dinner in a restaurant with your gf, it is very romantic and smooth. i like the manly character inside this juice, nothing like the freshy-teeny-sweety fragrances of today. the performance is the main downside of this scent, the projection and longevity are slightly below average. it is the same category of ch men prive, very valentino or lanvin avant garde(maybe theese have a better performance, not so much..). so i recommend this scent for close enviroments and nightout, but also for work because it is inoffensive. for fall and spring, for 25 and up.
a friend of mine says it is discontinued, i dont know if it is true but is still easy available in stores. i found a tester for a super-cheap price. i have the renamed bottle and personally dont find big differences with the orignal gucci by gucci.
in the overall, this fragrances is not the masterpiece for the ages but is too underrated and deserves more attention. in the current market we need edt like this. un profumo che forse non rivoluziona le vostre vite ma è decisamente piacevole, molto maschile e più complesso rispetto a tanta roba banale in giro attualmente.

adamthompson06

This is one of my favorite scents ever, it would be my signature cologne if it lasted longer. Wish I know of a better performing equivalent because this juice smells amazing.

MacGuffin

Great scent, great bottle, poor longevity. 7/10

Nathan Carpenter

I instantly fell in love with this fragrance, It has an amazing, dark, seductive opening. Buuuuuut, the performance is AWFUL. After 2 hours, the scent is completely gone

zenais86

a very gentlemen elegant fragrance... good longevity/performance! you need to try it!

Brettlz

Another favorite.
Great power scent minus the licorice found in the newer batches.
Very strong silage & performance.
Good for work and business settings.

Regular_dude

I can only join in with the choir. Fantastic smell with an awful performance. If this had Sauvage performance it would be would be way up there on my list

I was dating a girl back in 2010 and she gifted me this bottle. I sprayed it a few times and didn’t think anything special about it. Fast forward to today spiting 2019 and I decided to pull ot out from the back of my collection. I was surprised I didn’t use all of this up around the time I got it. This scent is great. To me, it’s a leathery, citrus, tobacco type smell. I haven’t fully checked the pyramid, but I don’t need to, I already know that the leather is dominant in here. It’s not leathery like John Varvatos, but it seems to go about the leather in a different way here. I think what turned me off from this scent when I originally got it was the longevity is horrible. I get that it could be a body chemistry thing, but I’m not buying that. I lent this bottle out to 3 different friends and only one of them got 2 hours out of it, while me and my other friends only got 1 hour. Why on earth would a designer attach their name to a fragrance that only lasts an hour is beyond me. Buy this is you want to smell great for an hour while driving to work or going on a road trip lol. 6/10.

Asylumin

Absolutely fantastic smell. I can say the smell itself one of the greatest of our time, but it doesnt matter if it disappears in an hour. Otherwise it would be a success in my opinion.

mrduplex

It's too bad the performance of this fragrance is so below average, as the smell of the fragrance itself is one of my absolute favourites. If this lasted longer I would still have it in my rotation, but as I work in the busy world of retail, having to reapply throughout the day isn't really an option for me. I first discovered Gucci Pour Homme when I was 15 and I fell in love with it and wore it all the time, but now it leaves much more to be desired. Amazing smell though.

fred.joan

I bought this fragrance wich appeartly was reformulated and name changed from gucci by gucci , to just; Gucci pour Homme.

First Spray impression: Dried Tobacco smell. this accord smells a little synthetic but in a very nice way.

3 to 5 minutes after application the tobbaco start to settle and start to smell sweet and musky without smelling wet. wich I like.

After 1 hour this fragrance starts to fall down on projection and sillage. wich I found a little dissapointed. but the longevity is very good. you will smell it on you as skin scent.

but for some reason I enjoy this fragrance so much. because i know only I will be enjoying this. This fragrance is for real Alpha Males. guys that dont rely on having a bomb fragrance to be noticed. instead. He invites you to get closer and closer.

Score: 85/100

kushOG

With a better performance this could be my favorite scent ever and a all time classic for sure.it fit my personality and what i'm looking for in a fragrance.unfortunately it's smell great 30 mns and pfff it's gone.
scent:10 for me
longevity and sillage:5 for me

Mr. Perfect

I wear this in my interview, presentaion, other office meetings, etc.

This is very uplifting and sophisticating scent that you can rock in your office. Average and sillage are soft perfect for office.

I don't think if I will wear it on any other occasion.

It;s good but I will not buy it again.

giuseppe98gp83

I own the gucci by gucci pour homme in the edt travel spray version. The fragrance is pleasant, intense, strong and masculine. The tobacco is felt with arrogance but only for a few tens of minutes. Afterwards the cypress and violet take over. Here the cards on the table change because, in my opinion, the latter removes from the fragrance the sense of initial virility. With leather and amber we try to recover the great masculinity lost in the central phase but the scent is repeatedly knocked down by a presentful jasmine. Finally, then, that note of bergamot could save it.
It remains a great gucci but not among the best.
Analysis: 7/10

Concetto

Salve.

Nour70

Just a nice bottle but the contents are nothing, not worth $ 1

gladofwar

if it's performance was 6/10 it could be bestseller.

BlindBG11

Reminds me of something between YSL L'Homme Ultime and Coach for Men. Longevity is like 3 hours and immediately becomes a skin scent :\

Scent 9/10

Got this for 40 bucks from a closing down sale .when I tested it I sure liked the masculinity in the scent so I purchased it and didn’t have time to test performance. MY OH MY , the performance is a HUGE letdown. God awful performance holy sh** this juice is like 90% water. Major disappointment

CDGfan

Thisw as between 2008-2015, a wonderful smokey patchouli fresh yet spicy tobacco scent. I remember buying the deodorant in 2008 as a student and just swooning. The current formulation is severely watered down, avoid!

keith.dunstan.tong

What a wonderfully gentle tobacco scent! The tobacco note is instantly recognizable from the first spray, but instead of an old-school tobacco note, this one is distinctively modern. The cypress and violet notes add a beautiful green overtone, both sharp and mellow at the same time - it is difficult to describe - but there is great depth and sophistication in how they interplay without dominating each other. The result is an oakmoss-y depth that avoids being barbershop-ish.

I don't get a powdery note, nor do I detect the jasmine. The sharpness of the perfume seems to come from the bergamot, which opens up and becomes distinct after a few minutes, yet it doesn't overtake the complex nuance of tobacco and green notes.

It is a beautiful perfume that isn't for everyone. It is distinctively masculine. The way that the tobacco note makes it seem dark while being clean can't be emphasized enough. I can see this perfume as a good introduction to tobacco-dominated perfumes for those who are just starting out.

Cheers!

Had a bottle in 2009 or 2010. I absolutely loved it. I could smell it the next morning. My favourite from Gucci (Rush is a close second).

Bought a bottle a few years later, and was horrified.
Not even 10% the original formulation. Watered down to almost nothing. Still trying to find a replacement for this. All suggestions I've tried seem nothing like it to me.

Not tried the original pour homme, but I'm guessing it's in the same style as Rochas Lui, which I like a lot, but Gucci by Gucci will always be my favourite, or it was until Gucci butchered it.

lynwood234

I bought this cologne after smelling it once. It to me has a juicy/water fresh tropical kiwi vibe with a peppery, tobacco middle. It seems to dry down after 15 minutes to a masculine but fruity tobacco sweetness. The dude I smelled it on must have put on 8-10 sprays. I try not to put on too much. I have sprayed 1 to 5 sprays and gone to work several times. I don't want to be that guy that overdoes it. I am not sure you can overspray this cologne because its sillage is so poor. I absolutely love the scent. I am not sure how it smells to others and I have not received any compliments with this one.

This would be a scent I never want to be without but it is a cologne for me. I would love to try an edp or intense version.

UPDATE: I LOVE this cologne and I discovered that it lasts all day as a close up scent if I spray it a few times on my clothes.

Fendy1

Initial impression - kind of peppery, small, non-offensive, but sharp fragrance. One hour later - I experienced a beautiful intoxicating vapourous classy smelling citrus and lavender perfume coming off my arm which was in the hot sun while sitting outside at the cafe - beautiful. I also had some Mont Blanc Legend tester on my foream, so that was working in tandem I think.
Purchased!

UPDATE: Very nice fragrance, but basically only slightly better than a skin scent in terms of strength and sillage. I would much prefer and recommend Aramis Tuscany - so much better in this regard, it’s a proper fragrance when compared with this.

vaibsankhla

You just can’t deny that it smells so bloody nice.
Woody slight sweet.
Not very interesting but man it is so manly and likeable.
Performance could be better.

De Oratore

I really like the smell of this, very cool, very classy.

Unfortunately the performance is absolutely abysmal on my skin, there isn't much projection to begin with (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but it becomes a skin scent in 1-1,5 hours, and it's totally gone in 2-2,5.
I haven't experienced longevity this bad outside of 007 ocean royale, and at this price, that is simply not good enough.

Now, this might just be a case of my skin chemistry not jivin' with this juice at all, and as I said, it smells fantastic, so I'm not going to say 'don't try it' - but I am definitely saying 'don't blind buy it'.

AsrulAfrizalAnuar

Can't create any words to describe about this fragrance, simply stunning! This is a very classy fragrance
Get the 1st formula then you'll know...

Jassar

I skipped this over for years. Then I shot a spray on one day and realized this is a great scent. Inoffensive tobacco and leather. This is my leather armchair smoking a sweet pipe tobacco scent. Great cooler weather office or casual fragrance. It lasts through a whole work day on me. It gives me a small inoffensive scent bubble. Don't buy this if you want a projection beast. This is a refined low-key fragrance.

sasa.ss

It's nice and safe scent, a bit too generic for my taste.

Smells the same as EDT "Denim Gold" by Denim (not listed in Fragrantica) which you can find for the lowest price of around 10 euros in shops, silage and longevity are similar, with only difference that bottle and package looks way cheaper.

ReapThaWhirlwind

Gucci (by Gucci) is a charming masculine aromatic. The opening contains a charming burst of vivid aromatics so arousing, it just leaves you breath-taken! Deep, passionate, and romantic. It's that kind of fire that makes you want to buy it as soon as you smell it.

The most prominent aromatic notes (violet and sweet tobacco) project with a bright and bold vivacity. Ambrosial probably would be the best way to explain the aroma. It's something like a cocktail of the most sensual dark-fruit pulp, accented with a hazy masculine grain provided by the subtle presence of pepper.

The fragrance is so well-blended, and projects with the full sense of hard work and detail so legendarily accustom to the art of luxury craftsmanship. The scent doesn't come off cheap in any way; or just thrown together; nor does it possess any type of quality to it that might make a man feel ashamed wearing it.

Gucci (by Gucci) is a fragrance that's very well-suited for a man to wear with dignity. Everything seems to come natural while wearing it: The sense of great style, the comfort of its arousing charm, and the feel of genuine luxury provided by the quality of the blend.

Ranks of nobility legendarily wore custom fragrances as the distinguishing attribute of their character, and Gucci (by Gucci) definitely projects as one of those kinds of scents, making it an instant favorite among men with a taste for the divine.

syarul

First of all, this review is based on Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme, the first batch bottle. Thanks to my fellow Fragrantican friend, Asrul Afrizal Anuar that help me find the last bottle of first batch of Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme. Really appreciate it.

This gem smell fantastic. Although I'm not a smoker, I love the smell of fine cigar/tobacco. This, smell exactly like a menthol unlit cigar. And it's long lasting too. I get more than 9 hours with this.

This will be my new signature frag, replacing my Gucci Intense Oud that I acquire before. Although I love both.

I don't like the new batch of Gucci Pour Homme. Upon spray, it only smell fantastic menthol tobacco for the first 5 seconds, that replaced by leather accord. No no no. I want that amazing menthol cigar smell for hours, not for 5 seconds.

If you read this right now, go find yourself the bottle that stated Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme that don't have a vertical line on the box. You'll thank me later.

fbook27

The scent itself is great and one of a kind. It doesn't last long however...

so i picked the bottle from my closet after good 5-6 years and man did i miss it!!?
this juice is not for boys, it is for men! men who overrun testosterone. confident and macho is what this juice speaks.

i have a little story with this juice. i entered a night club wearing this with a group of friends and sported an acquaintance at the bar. the greeting turned rather wild and she did confess that it was the cologne which i was wearing which did the magic ;). she did mention that if she will ever smell this cologne again she would instantly recognize it.

fast forward few months and another group of friends came to pick me and she was with them. as i entered the car, wearing this very cologne, i see her in the car and the look she gave me was like.. i know you are wearing the same cologne!!

Update: i checked the latest available version and this has been reformulated beyond recognition. Now i can understand all the hate. Dissapointed!!

trevorrobertlee

Just received a 90ml tester for free and I've gotta say, it's not bad. I spritzed it and immediately thought of Vick's VapoRub. It really reminds me of the holidays and colder months. Very pine-like, semi-sweet tobacco, masculine, and clean. I personally don't wear fragrances like this too often because they really aren't "me", but this one might grow on me.

francois81

Very very weird stuff… After the reviews and the scent pyarmid, I excepted a totally different smell. I would like to get a manly, classic winter time tobacco/cypress scent.. Actually I got it, but very weird. The opening is a pure citrus/bergamot mix without any violet or cypress, and after the first sniff I thoght this will be a summer fragrance. Few minutes later the bergamot fades away, and I smell a very light/airy tobacco/cypress combination with a special herbal/camphor vibe. I don’t know why, but it smells like a sports cream or a rheumatic cream…Interesting…Later joins some patchouli, amber and resins, but this camphoric vibe lasts very very long. Anyway, this is a clean, safe, masculine fagrance, but do not blind buy. The sillage and the longevity terrible, as most of the Gucci, so this is the reason why I dislike…

- spring/autumn/witnter, but maybe could work in summertime. Very versatile stuff.

- sillage and longevity are poor. longevity around 4 hours

- try before buy

So very disappointed in this fragrance. I bought it wanting something expensive and long lasting. I may as well have bought something from a cheap shop.

dventura60

I love the crisp clean woody smell of the cypress with hints of leather and tobacco. It's a very elegant smell that would be good for cooler weather. This scent lasts a good 5 hours on my skin and is very pleasant. My wife even likes it... and she hates most colognes.

I also use Versace Oud during the cooler months. Gucci by Gucci will be a nice lighter addition to the Fall and Winter months. I found a bottle at Nordstrom Rack for $44. I had to get it. I watched a lot of reviews of fall and winter colognes on Youtube and Gucci by Gucci was usually one of the top 3. I would have to concur with those reviews.

Two Thumbs Up for Gucci by Gucci!

DinoCasino18

Absolutely phenomenal. Nice subtle tobacco with a beautiful green overtone. If it would only project a little stronger on me. That aside, its defiantly one of my favorites.

Finisterle

Generic, good longevity, a bit decorative.

Not for the history books.

Not good enough for the really special occasion or the strange isolated moment.

justcallmed

At first application, I get a smooth blend of tobacco and balsamic spice that do well in cooler seasons. I can't help but feel a little extra classy while wearing this one and to me, screams gentleman. I love the dry down as it mellows to a leather and woods base that rather than halts at being a stale and stagnant, smells sweet and refined. I can get roughly 4 hours of wear and it dries to its base fairly fast.

Escenta

Quality: 4.5 out of 5 – It’s a beautiful, high quality scent. For me, it borders on a masterpiece. I LOVE it. The magic happens after it’s been on me for 3 hours.

Originality: 4 out of 5 – It’s very original yet triggers a scent memory in me of Jimmy Choo Man. I have both, yet prefer this.

Projection (Sillage): 3 out of 5 – moderate; Only people in your near vicinity can smell your scent, unless you’ve just sprayed it.

Longevity: 3 out of 5 – moderate; 5~6 hours

Versatility: 4 out of 5 – This scent is very versatile; it works well for day/night, autumn/winter, office-based work/formal occasions and for men over 25.

Value: 4 out of 5 – currently £49 for 90ml. It’s about the going rate for a fragrance of this quality. I love it enough to pay this but if it’s on sale, great!

Compliment Frequency: 2 out of 5 – Nobody moves away but I don’t get compliments on it either. To put some perspective on this, I’m wearing it now and haven’t had a single compliment on it over the whole day. A guy walks into my room wearing Creed Aventus and 2 people complimented his within 2 minutes! Yes, it’s a hugely different fragrance but what the hell?! :)

Packaging (Bottling): 4 out of 5 – Much thought seems to have gone into the packaging; it’s attractive and highly functional.

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 – Great – This fragrance does just about everything you could ever want from a fragrance of its type (meaning it’s good enough for a lack of projection, longevity and compliment frequency to ignore). There aren’t any significant problems with the fragrance, I love it but not everyone’s nose/skin is the same so you may not be left in complete awe. Not ground-breaking but has the potential to become a classic and should be considered a staple for collectors.

Recommendation: Not everyone loves everyone’s taste so try before you buy but otherwise to me, it’s so good it’s worth blind buying!

newslater

Very gentle and unique. Formal Scent and it can be wear by young men.

VJG

This has the most stylish and refined masculine silky tobacco notes. I still have the 2012 bottle with some 10 ml remaining and it smells the same even today. Brings back memories of my first Eu trip(Swiss). Love this perfume very much. Sharp ,crisp and elegant. Thanks Gucci

LadyIva

This is a very pleasant masculine scent. It strikes just the right balance between clean, fresh, invigorating and sharp(ish) notes. The citrus opening quickly gives way to the green woody core. The tobacco note is very mild and doesn't bother me. This is a safe blind buy for your man, and a great refreshing scent for warmer days.

rmf1112

Wow, so many performance 'issues'. Makes me wonder if people expect every frag to be "beast mode"? Classyness doesnt have to yell, and this stuff is classy. I dont find this to have any worse performance than most of my other frags. Great scent, projects and lasts more than people make it seem.

FragranceFinder

This fragrance. Just wow. Good job, Gucci. Good job letting an awesome fragrance go to waste because of hall of fame shitty sillage and longevity. At least try to make the longevity and sillage semi-bad, and not downright awful, so your customers will at least try to forgive how ridiculous the performance is. I last longer in bed than this fragrance. In fact, if I were to apply this fragrance before sex, the fragrance would vaporize before I was done. Maybe that should have been the slogan: "Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme. The fragrance that is gone before you come".

jonboy

This is very dissapointing. Smells quite nice at first --then 15 minutes later almost nothing. Very very disappointing. I'll be ebaying my bottle after this review. It's also made by proctor and Gamble --another disappointing note. Expected far far more from Gucci.

Jay_barboza

It smells good but I don't get very many compliments on it. Just smells like a generic cologone. Maybe slightly better. Deffintially worth keeping in the collection though!
Scent:8/10

fromthebayandaroundtheway

Revisited this one today and all I can say is wow! I used to just spray this on just before leaving the house in a t shirt and jeans not thinking about how I wanted to smell. I always thought That it smelled good and would do for the moment. Upon closer sniff, this fragrance has a bit of depth to it. The opening of this scent is almost minty, the cypress and violet really play nicely off of each other and the citrus is present, but restrained. The mid notes of tobacco and jasmine come through with subtlety, giving some warmth and sweetness after the minty opening. It's at the mid notes that you get a craving for more of what this scent has to bring, but it is also at this point that the scent just seems to restrain itself. We get a nice resinous, leathery finish framed by a bit of patchouli. Is it a bad scent? Not at all. Is it innovative? No. Will it go well with a field jacket, a clean tee, jeans, and some Stan Smiths on a date night? Yes!

Long time signature scent from long ago. I still love it in my collection. Perfect for work , very versatile. I give it a 6/10
Check out my blog, link in my profile.

36thDisciple

This has been my signature scent since it was first gifted to me in 2010. I still own a bottle from that period, which has always been stored in a humid environment with daily temperature fluctuations (my bathroom). To this day, there is no detectable change in the scent or its performance (the latter being meh to start with). It is unquestionably a sturdy fragrance.

The scent can be described in one word - suave. Wear this with a tux or dinner suit and you'll be shifting your 007 swag mode into overdrive. Seductive 'femmes fatales' will try to kill you, guaranteed. It's an all-season, semi-formal/formal, evening-only fragrance best suited for when you're playing baccarat at the big boys table.

I imagine most blind-buy purchasers do not regret their decision.

EDIT (Sept 13th): I bought a new bottle with the newer name. They watered it down. Oh well.

rmf1112

Overlooked and underrated. Ignore the haters, the fact that there are many women praising this one should clue you in. Sexy and intriguing while still being office safe. Recommended.

bart4543

if you wear a suit to work then you have just found the perfect work scent. with 6-8 hours of longevity and moderate silage this baby comes off as a pleasant and inoffensive scent. its mature and serious without being old manish or outdated. there is some sweetness and flowers in the background that balance the heavy cypress, tobacco and leather accord. Perfect balance between the dark and lighter notes. The final result is quiet sublime and extremely classy.

ElleNell

Ultimate men's fragerance!!! This is so sophisticated, warm, romantic, seductive, sexy and classy. Quite an underrated perfume but one of the best out there for men. Smells expensive. It is a modern yet a very classic scent. This will drive women crazy. I can see a young man with class and an edge wearing this. But also ideal for a maturer man also. Smells manly and clean. Plus love the masculine chic bottle.Love it xoxo

My previous review was about this fragrance being fantastic, but lacking the performance. I sampled it 2 days ago and it lasted around 5 hours. It was quite ok but the sillage was still poor. I put a lot of thought on it and decided to buy it anyway. I passed this because of the performance, but the scent is so amazing that I can't resist it anymore. Many said it is generic, but to me, it is a refreshing winter scent. Maybe others won't notice this fragrance, but other don't notice The One EDP, GPH 2 or L'homme too. I enjoy them and I will enjoy this too.

Scent: 10/10
Longevity: 5/10
Sillage: 3/10

Even the performance is bad, just go on and buy this beauty. I changed my opinion and I hope you will too.

justmytwoscents

Very masculine. Nice tobacco scent and really spicy. I don't get the powdery notes people mention. Women seem to enjoy it so that is a plus obviously. Projection is ok for 2 or 3 hours. Longevity isn't great unfortunately. About 5 or 6 hours and it is pretty much gone.

avaloncm

Got a decant of this and tried it. No opinion of this whatsoever. Smells fine, not great, not bad. Longevity about 2-3 hours. Not impressed with performance. Nothing to get excited or disappointed about.

Snuffeltje

What's that I smell? And where are my clothes?

fragcentral

Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme a great manly smell!

Gucci smells really masculine and you get tobacco, patchouli, cypress and bergamot with some other notes mixed in. It's a manly scent, and signature worthy.

The downside is performance. I get about 2-3 hours with weak projection. It's a shame because this one smells awesome. With better performance, it would be a super star.

You will get some compliments with this one shortly after applying. But it fades so fast that nobody will be able to smell it after a while. But it does smell great and it is suitable for any time of year and nearly every occasion.

8 of 10.

Ebad

This perfume is amazing.Very clean sweet and so mouth watering.I can't explain it in words,i mean when i wear this it feels like i am not on earth i am in heaven. This is the most underrated frag i had ever encounter. Not only girls, but woman, man and even teenager enjoyed it on me.Alot of happiness captured inside a bottle. It is moderate scent and after few hours it just become skin scent. But you will not gonna stop smelling your shirt and palm again and again. This is just a pure perfection.
Scent 10/10
Projection 8/10
Longevity 8/10.....Peace....

groover

This in my opinion is the last great
release from the house of Gucci, i
absolutely love this masculine powdery
tobbaco smelling masterpice, i would have
put this among my top 10 if it wasnt for the
poor longevity and sillage, still a great buy.

assim.hayderi

I don't like designer perfumes and at first I was really skeptical to this Gucci scent. They always try to maximize their profit and do not care much about quality. First when I sprayed this, It smelled very boring and mainstream but after an hour it smells really different. I love the dry down. The only question that needs to be answered is whether I should buy a bottle or not. I think I will try it at least 2 or 3 times more before taking any decision.

Scent: 5/10 the first hour, 8/10 for the dry down
Longevity: 6/10
Projection: 6/10

ar-fragrance

James Franco and this scent is really the same. Both aren't attractive enough. The outside is ok. It's even very sparkling. But the inside is very...nothing to talk about. It's fresh. It's soft. The opening is very...headache because of all the nothing new ingredients combining with eachother. Modern, young, fresh. Just so. The base notes are not something new or special.

siraog

The scent is amazing but the performance is so poor that it will be a pass for me. I fell in love with the opening and it as beautiful. I wanted to give it a try to see the dry down but after a short time the scent disappeared. It wasn't there. No one will notice this fragrance unless they look so close that they can see your blood flow. This fragrance is same as Gucci Pour Homme 2 for me. It smells amazing but not worth buying due to performance.

chef.peporr

This is a nice fragrance, easy to wear and a very comfortable smell, my only issue is the longevity... I emptied a full 1.5ml sample and after 1 hour is gone... WTF??? It was a bad sample or really has an awful longevity?

Alexey Fisher

scent : 8/10
sillage : 5/10
longevity :3/10

gillbert

first of all, i have to say very sorry for this perfume. very weak sillage and longevity. i put 10 spray but it still weak. fresh bright juice - nice scent but....again, weak projection. i bought it just for reference

rakan1985

scent : 8/10
sillage : 6/10
longevity :6/10
70% day / 30% night fragrance
reminds me a little bit of Burberry london (more green and peppery)
nice tobacco and earthy scent

uakrind

very soft
smells awesome
But i want it to hold longer........
sillage is weak
Worth loving still..........

yann.kouame

One of my to-go perfume since 2010. Smells so Sexy and manly. Cant go wrong with it. the only con is that sillage is poor. Top-5 for sure!

Endymion

Now it's called simply Gucci Pour Homme. The box is not plain grey now but has 2 vertical stripes.

faramarz

despite all negative reviews, i like this perfume. it's really calming, well-balanced and classy fragrance that suits beautifully to gentlemen over 35.
thank you Gucci

JustAverage

It opens with a smooth, elegant tobacco. The woodsy cypress is also there. It's a great smelling, mature fragrance. The performance is terrible though, like others have said, after 30 minutes or so it becomes a skin scent. To smell it, I literally have to place my wrist to my nose, such a shame.

Lipglossjunkee

I wanted to add a ladies perspective to the reviews here, as I felt this one could be very wearable and unisex, and I wasn't wrong. It opens a bit more 'masculine' but that warms up very quickly into a sweet floral tobacco scent that features some very interesting notes. I love the elemi in this (I don't have many fragrances that feature that note, in fact). But on me, this is predominantly a tobacco/violet/amber fragrance and that's what makes it so wearable for either gender. I've only had it on a couple of hours and the only other thing I can say is, it's not a powerhouse. It's quite softer than I expected, but still smells lovely. Definitely pleased with this purchase.

nigelreid77

Not bad as commercial perfume goes, and good for a season, but not something I could develop a life long love for

BigD

Love the bergamot opening and the drydown is very pleasant with wood notes. Trying to identify the tobacco in there, maybe it's part of the greenish fresh scent that I enjoy. However, as other reviewers have stated, in not much time it becomes a very light scent, but that's where it's solidly understated, when so many other colognes become cloying or tiring. really wish it was stronger though. As G. Georgiev stated, I'll look for an intense/extreme version, unless I can find a good price because I do really like this one.

derekjames

Soft sexy scent, does project overly well but I think for a scent like this it's perfect. It's intimate anyone in your personal space can smell it and it draws them in, great for a night out or a date.

bixio

It was reformulated and redesigned the box , And on the bottle now the name is just gucci pour homme

G. Georgiev

Great scent. This is an office scent, a scent for a well-dressed and elegant man. The bottle design is very good. Longevity is moderate and sillage is non-existent. I read in previous comments that 6 years ago it was with decent longevity and sillage. Such a shame for watering down this scent. It could be my favourite if it was stronger.

Great scent but it's too weak. It doesn't worth its money. Waiting for very intense or EDP version or the old version. I will skip it till then.

Mrbigbigtoe

3 sprays on my neck and I am good for all day.
The projection is moderate for the first 6 hours, then it gets close to your skin, but in a good way.

Sandhamnar

If this lasted on my skin I'd buy 10 more bottles. But it's too weak - how bad.
Love it anyway

k_althawadi

@sly_92 no way , hatem is much older then gucci

sly_92

Prety good scent، maybe more for mature men. Hatem by Rasasi is a much cheaper well-done replica, give it a try if u like the Gucci.

simon.edwards

I've enjoyed reading how much this fragrance has split opinion. It's been slated for being generic, whilst others have referred to it as a masterpiece. In terms of availabel High Street fare, this IS different. My first spritz on a test strip in Boots this morning and I was like 'urgh, this is some dank musty rubbish - what is this smell?!'. Tobacco. Lovely moist, smokey tobacco seeping through the cypress and bergamot. Sure, berganot is found in most frags. However, the tobacco note sets this aside the deluge of citrus / fresh spicy scents out there at the moment (Sept 2015). I can smell the amber and patchouli on dry-down, and it adds depth, which combines to make a great masculine accord. The downside is the longevity, which has been noted by numerous folk before me - its not great. The answer? Top it up with a discrete travel dispenser! This is far from generic. Its a good, solid, interesting day / night, all ocassion scent.

Have a great day!

BriantheFragranceNewb

This seems like another good, safe fragrance on the market. It smells familiar if that makes sense. It is certainly nothing groundbreaking. Not to mention, the performance just isn't great. This may be officially dropped from my wish list.

mm83

I think they should launch edp version

Sorush

Nice but not a masterpiece

ThatMakesScents

Generic YET LOVEABLE :) I could have worn this if they didn't butcher the longevity and sillage.

A really nice manly fragrance....very italian.

What a pity.

DemitriKalashnikov

I recall the first time I’d try this, and quickly I was falling in love with it already. It received a really good scent of passionate and sex appeal. First spray you will notice a smoky scent alongside with some aromatic woody notes. As time goes by, when it starts to dry you will detect a leathery smell and the smoke still on as the perfume last on my skins for quite 5hrs. It is really much more subtle when using it in the night occasions or in a cold clime. Not really great for summertime or any hot days. Another very attractive perfume after Extreme Attitude.

Ricardo the Great

Nothing new here. Reminded me a lot of the classic late 70s/early 80s masculine frags. Strong leather frag that dominates after the drydown.

mcaldow

Okay so when I wear this, the opening smells almost disgustingly like a sports rub for muscles, think dencorub, but worse, then within 40 seconds it dries down to this much more sophisticated, leathery scent that becomes a lot more pleasant. Honestly this was very surprising to me.

I sprayed it on me and I was mortified that I bind bought this, "this is disgusting" I even said to myself, then my mind changed as the drydown came along, and then I enjoyed the scent. Honestly I really don't understand why the opening is so strong and foul for the first 40 seconds, and then dries down into a much more pleasant scent.

NickZee

I bought this when it was first released and it was a sillage and longevity monster. I still have my bottle and can easily notice the new formulation in the shops has been watered down by about 80% and all the interesting edges in the original have been straightened out to remove the wonderful character of the first release. A shame that this fragrance always gets canned against its predecessors based on what is currently being produced because the first release was masculine, original and daring while pleasing the masses at the same time. The only fragrance that has attracted a compliment for me in a nightclub from a hot young woman that I had not met until that night. It got me talking to her and by the end of that night I had her number. Mind you she was 12 years younger! Sorry guys, get the vintage if you want to have a chance of replicating this performance, otherwise you are just going to rely on being charming and attractive!

pkal22

bau opening seger, mantap, ada sedikit aroma bunga2... hidungku ngga bisa deteksi tembakau (yg ada di piramid notes). dry down enak. daya tahan dan pancaran bau sedeng.. Recommended.

Vmaster

I purchased this bottle in October of 2013 and am finally writing a review. Being that the scent has been described many times below, I will just add that this scent is very masculine in a very good way.

The first time I sprayed it on myself, I got a great masculine vibe that felt very refined, professional and worldly. To this day, whenever I wear this scent, it never fails to get a compliment. Due to the moderate sillage, I can just about wear this fragrance anywhere professionally, casually or intimately.

Rating: 8/10

scentdoctor

Starts off really peppery and generic smelling nothing special but the drydown is amazing, smells like bois 1920 oltremare in the drydown.

secamel

Just got it as a x-mas gift. I smiled politely and thought " I won't like this generic capitalist thing for corporate robots." I was wrong. Nice smoky/clean scent that won't make you win a Nobel prize for originality (actually, no fragrance will) but will make you smell good which I guess is our main objective when we purchase any fragrance.

spumyland

Dear Gucci ...ma una versione più concentrata? no??
Ottima la violetta...da ipnosi...senza tempo

fragrancefan1987

A great everyday office fragrance suited towards the colder season however the longevity of this fragrance very much let's it down, I will spray at 7:30am and it will be gone by the time I reach the office at 9am.

It's pretty pricey for a fragrance that only lasts an hour or two.

On the plus side it features a lovely bottle design and feels like a premium product, it just doesn't deliver for me.

ahnafuz

just a normal perfume with a too lot of cypress, i can hardly find tobacco in it. gucci guilty is far better in smell, sillage and longevity.
just another generic perfume nothing special in it.

massmurderer

Subtle would be an understatement. Gucci by Gucci pour Homme is a masterpiece....of bottle design. The beautiful glass and magnetic cap, the subtle nuances of the lettering and minimalist design emanate class and refinement of days gone by. The greyish juice inside reflecting a 1950's-esque love for Bauhaus and geometric simplicity recalling a time when being offered a drink of alcoholic persuasion when stepping into the office or home of a stranger or associate was as mandatory as lack of formality and overly casual in the business world seem to be now.
Unfortunately the juice is nothing like the woody chypres of old that this one appears to be implying from the packaging it IS. This is sheer subtlety at its most efficient and effective, yet also at its least enjoyable, too far away to truly enjoy for the brilliant craftsmanship yet just close enough to tease the senses into believing the tobacco fields and afternoon jasmine tea are right outside the terrace door looking upon the garden.
Gucci By Gucci isn't a fun wear on my skin, it's a frustrating wear. Spotty longevity and projection are most of the origin of most of the fuss, but the other is that it had so much potential to be truly great and a genre definer in a category of fragrance that has largely been ignored in recent years. Gucci Pour Homme is extremely well blended and balanced by Givaudan and his band of servants, but it lacks any real masculine power or potency. Over-spraying has little effect, this is meant to be as unimposing and sterile as possible for modern corporate cubicle consumption.
The top is a nice dose of tobacco leaf and cypress, the heart brings the jasmine undertones so prevalent in this one with violet and a clean, zesty bergamot. After about a half hour this all blends into one nicely balanced "structure" of tobacco, floral, citrus and a very unique resinous dry-down that is light and airy, classically inspired, yet highly original.
A really elusive fragrance. One that can get you 5-7 hours one day and 2 hours the next with the same weather conditions and soft, distant projection.
A very professional and inventive construction by Gucci but left for men who celebrate subtlety and like their fragrance at a distance, not for the man who seeks attention, recognition or acknowledgement.
As elusive as the real murderers of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, the recounted votes in Florida in 2000 and the honest politician in Washington D.C.

fmvolume

too metalic for me, I love the bottle design. Very elegant piece from Gucci but the smell is just generic to me and metalic

Abdulla Talib

nice perfume, but needs more sillage.

G-Bon

Elegant, classy, smooth, deep, sophisticated...and much more. For me this evokes memories of when I studied in Madrid, and in the fall, this was the perfect scent for the nightlife there. If only it had projected better, I'd have surely lived out my fantasy, surrounded by Spanish ladies.

LordCharfield

I have a reasonably sized wardrobe of good quality scents, but this remains a firm favourite.
Great for special occasions :-)

mikedvd5588

Oposai

Great opening, dark, bold, daring. Everything goes well, until it becomes a skin scent after 30 minutes. Longevity is ok, but sillage leaves a lot to desire. It's a good scent, but can't really pick it up. 5/10.

landon1

And I don't find this generic. Judge me, but It just doesn't catch me as generic.

FragrantAl87

Refined, clean and woodsy. I was very happy to have owned it. Its a lightly sweet smell with a crisp essence of green cypress wood and earthy tobacco leaf. Exudes maturity, but sadly lacks projection and longevity. Could have been better in those aspects, but I really enjoyed the creation!

7/10

Elite Gentleman

Poor longevity. If you're not rich then please don't waste your money on this. And if you are rich then waste your money on some nice niche fragrances instead.

lgbailey86

Really nice bottle . Nice feel, nice and heavy... like the cap very much. Much nicer bottle than the juice. Which smells good if you're willing to re apply it regularly... Gave the second half of my bottle to my boss when he liked it because I never wore it. Don't miss wearing it. A tiny bit miss having that bottle though. Like the perfect heavy tumbler
Completely different scent but always reminded me of the approach by Dolce & Gabanna's the One.. a scent with typical wintery notes but designed to perform in warmer weather . I honestly always liked this best in summer.

landon1

Apparently every fragrance that comes out has to be a complete classic and change the game. This is good stuff, disregard the snobs.

VJG

Gucci by Gucci- Woody & Smokey!!! A bit like a balm too ..
The fragrance when its settles i simply love it
It is not warm ..but tends to get warm now and then

The Tobacco and leather blast is the most attractive part of this fragrance as it draws a bit of attention.. Has a very decent lasting power. Projection not bad

The bottle design is highly stylish..

Micho0

Smells really good , its refreshing but very elegant in the same time.

Not really something special about it but doesnt have too,it does it good anyway
