Acqua di Gioia by Giorgio Armani is a Floral Aquatic fragrance for women. Acqua di Gioia was launched in 2010. Acqua di Gioia was created by Loc Dong, Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. Top notes are Amalfi Lemon and Mint; middle note is Water Jasmine; base notes are Virginia Cedar, Brown sugar and French labdanum.

Acqua di Gioia is a new fragrance by Giorgio Armani, presented in March 2010. Seductive sea aromas in the new fragrance are put into first plan and used as creators' inspiration. Composition of the perfume is compared with woman who is ''strong, dignified and free spirit but in perfect harmony with nature''.

Inspired by several summer holidays spent on the islands of Pantelleria and Antigua, where Armani has his villas, the fragrance was lead by the idea of escape into nature, a heavenly place of real holiday where we restore the energy necessary to body and soul, and where we create natural balance.

Its flacon was made as a natural shape – water drops which are clear, airy, and pellucid.

The fragrance arrives on the market in June 2010 as a blend of refreshing notes of crushed mint leaves and lemon Limone Primo Fiore Femminello from Calabria. Structure of the composition pushes the limits from fresh citruses to a floral heart which encompasses aquatic jasmine, dewy peony and pink pepper, while a base closes with cedar, yellow sugar and labdanum. Acqua di Gioia was created by three perfumers: Loc Dong, Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion, who see it as Eve's seduction and as fragrance turned completely towards the nature.

The perfume can be purchased as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDP, along with 200 ml body lotion.

Well this is nice, pleasant, summery, beachy. I tried it today, a fresh, citrus/orange blossom cologne type fragrance that is masterfully composed (and should be considering the team of noses), and more sophisticated than that but not overly busy. I still prefer original Acqua di Gio, though. I love that one but haven’t smelled it in ages. This is very nice, though.

ripgirl9000

This is a cool water fragrance, acqua is a fitting name. Very wet, refreshing, and fresh. I wouldn't have picked out lemon or mint, but now that I see those notes I notice that they are there. It is very well blended. 'Giorgio Armani Acqua' makes me feel like its a crisp, fresh and windy day on top of an Ireland cliff overlooking the ocean. While 'Giorgio Armani Ocean' is a warmer sandy salty beach with flowers blooming on the cliffs. I prefer the opening of Acqua but then prefer the dry down of Ocean. The bottles are all beautiful.

I have Giorgio Armani Light, Ocean, Air and Acqua. Love them all but below are ranked.
#1 Ocean: Salty ocean floral,
#2 Light: Perfect Spring Creamy Floral
#3 Acqua: Refreshing water and tea
#4 Air: An earthy clean scent

Lovaloo

Soft, creamy lemon, aquatic with the cucumber-melon touch of calone. The mint is sweeter and more mild, not as aromatic as I expected. More of a cooling, abstract green impression, like wintergreen. The nondescript watercolor florals fade to clean musks and soft woods. The trail is cool, clean, refreshing.

An anachronism in my mind. It smells like a lot of 90s releases. Aquatic notes and clean florals can be abrasive, but not here. The most impressive aspect of this perfume is how smooth the texture is. Very nice in the category of "clean girl" perfumes if the others are a bit too overused for your taste.

Treachaseff

This is the closest thing I have to a signature scent. I definitely perceive this as a light fragrance, but my husband can smell it in my clothes days later. Maybe unobtrusive is a better way to describe it. The mint and lemon in the opening are both sweetened, and together they give me the impression of a tangy tropical fruit--a sumptuous cousin to a passion fruit, or maybe a tart guava? It reminds me of a soursop fruit (guanabana) too. The water jasmine in this just may be my favorite interpretation of jasmine. And a lot of people say they don't notice the brown sugar, but I do. It sticks to the skin in a very subtle, sensual way and provides a sweet warmth that gives this more versatility than its summery contemporaries. This has year-round potential if you don't mind a light scent in winter. It's the only perfume I have a back up bottle of.

Atomikbomb_

I like this, it's quite nice, but it's pretty thin, especially for an EDP. I kept checking to see if I hadn't accidentally gotten this confused with the EDT...but no, I'm reviewing the correct formula.

It's beyond refreshing, honestly. It's *quenching* with that lemon and fresh mint. Because of it's very thin body, I do think this would be a fragrance to use if it's ever scorchingly hot, because it's one of the most cooling, yet lightly weighted perfumes (or even body mists) I've experienced.

But it doesn't last long whatsoever, and it's exceedingly top-note dominant. After an hour or so, 80% of the experience is gone and you're left with a very light woody skin scent. I get absolutely 0 "sugar" or labdanum here, there's barely any base.

This is easily unisex, there's nothing overtly femme (or masculine for that matter) here at all.

I'll probably never purchase this unless it was available at a large discount, but it's really pleasant while it lasts.

Ground hound

Clean, moderately fresh , moderately citrusy, moderately sweet.
I can't smell much mint, mostly citrus/lemon peel.
A clean pleasant less generic freshie.

hissingprig

i got a sample of this free with an ulta order and have been using it for 2 days; i noticed that, immediately after spraying this, it almost smells like i just wiped my kitchen counters and accidentally sprayed myself with some of the cleaner. however, i'm able to pick up on the jasmine, brown sugar, and a bit of cedar on the drydown. it's definitely more floral as it settles into my skin, which makes it perfect for spring. this perfume also makes me super nostalgic for getting out of my friend's pool in the summer as a child; i don't take this as a very mature scent. for that reason, i also believe this would be the perfect scent for a summertime party. the mint top note in this is very subtle and definitely smells more of a fresh mint leaf than, say, toothpaste or gum. overall, this is a really enjoyable fragrance! i'm still on the fence about whether i want a full bottle, though.

this was my first review of a perfume ever so it isn't very technical but i hope it kind of makes sense!

JasminePetal

It's very citrussy and not in a balanced way. I cannot smell any mint on my skin, such a shame. I am usually in love with jasmine scents, but can barely even make it out here. Even after dry down I don't smell anything other than lemon. I think Aqua Bella by La Rive is a lot better tbh.

fragwhore<3

A nice floral aquatic scent. My mom loves this scent so I ended up giving it to her, reminds me alot of dolce light blue just a little more fresh and watery

sugarfawn

i think i need to start off by saying i don’t and probably will never like citrus/greenish perfumes. i tried this one because my mom has a bottle and i was bored

that being said, the mint in the opening is very very powerful. and so is the lemon . it isnt possible to smell anything else for the first few minutes. as it dries down, it turns down the volume a bit and settles into a more woody, flowery scent. the lemon is still very much there but its less awful. i think it kind of smells like grass almost. i can definitely smell the jasmine and its kind of nice except it smells exactly like dish soap.
its very very aquatic and gives me a headache. if you like that then yeah go for it i guess

ThetideGoesWithme

My ride or die. Nothing but love for this beautiful fresh scent.

The lemon and mint open the scent which makes it smell not quite like either. A watery, clean, lightly floral experience, summer in a bottle. Sophisticated enough for a white table cloth dinner on the beach at a swanky resort, but fresh and light enough for everyday, especially summer.

This scent is not loud, it is gorgeously light. Reminds me of a tray of fresh citrus served on a sailboat cruise in the Mediterranean at sunset. A mid-day reapplication may be necessary.

Morgan45

Nice enough if you like a light, aquatic floral. Unfortunately, aquatic scents are not my thing.

Anarig97

This was super disappointing. The actual scent of this perfume wasn’t offensive, even though I wasn’t that impressed with it either. I have reacted more positively to other citrus scents. However, the disappointment stems more from the longevity and sillage. Out of all the perfumes I have tested, this has the worst longevity yet. This completely disappeared after 1-2 hours and I feel like I sprayed a good enough amount over multiple areas of my body, including skin and clothes. Usually I’m not as critical of sillage on perfumes but with the pathetic longevity, good projection would have been nice, but that was nonexistent as well. It’s probably my own body chemistry that just doesn’t work well with this perfume but I will not be revisiting this.

Chesu Bowa

Acqua di gioia is my signature scent, I’m running through my fifth bottle now. This fragrance is more aquatic than fresh in my opinion. It opens with a watery mint and fruity lemon. The lemon here isn’t bitter but fruity & bright, while the mint isn’t strong or harsh it’s watery and soft. Then the dry down is a brown sugar vanilla magic with a hint of cedar and you still get that damp mint picking through. This fragrance is pure ecstasy. 🍃 other ways to describe acqua:
Sweet Mint tea.

Brown sugar bag with a dozen mint crystals inside and a hint of lemon extract.

if mint were a fruit, it would smell like this.

fangirleche

This is such a beautiful citrus! This smells very cool and refreshing. The mint and lemon are great together without being too screechy(imo), I can smell that brown sugar note in the dry down and it’s SO GOOD! It’s definitely a dumb reach fragrance for me, love it!

Edit: this is not mind blowing, or unique, but it’s definitely one of my favorite designer freshies, I decluttered D&G’s Light Blue after I received this, that is too screechy & lemon cleaner like to me.

chicagogirl

Basically a blind buy bc I forgot how this smelled after testing manyy years ago. I only got this bc it was half off in the Ulta sale, $35. I passed it up in prior sales when it was half off but for some reason this year I couldn't resist lol. I think this smells super generic. It's an aquatic citrus. At first there’s a beautiful burst of spearmint but it dissipates quickly. If you've ever owned or smelled a fragrance in that category before you'll know the vibe. If I owned Light Blue I wouldn't even bother with this. They smell different dont get me wrong but it's the same aquatic fresh citrus vibe. This does smell better than Light Blue to me so if you want to pick only one get this. It's a bit warmer and less harsh. This is the perfume you'd wear while relaxing in your room at a fancy resort hotel somewhere tropical. You're feeling the chill of the AC even though it's hot out so you are wearing a fancy cozy warm white robe. I love the bottle too, it's so elegant and the cap is so pretty and reminds me of their fancy Privè line. I'm so not an aquatic or fresh perfume girlie but I plan to wear this all of spring/summer. Wont repurchase tho even at $35.

caseykins

This scent has a beachy, borderline musty note that makes my stomach churn. But if you’re into that musk, “fresh” smell you’ll like this. Aside from that it’s a pretty basic perfumey smell, like what you’d typically smell in the perfume section at a Macy’s. Wouldn’t say it’s a spring scent at all, leans more summer than anything.

Storm1980

Imagine a fragrance that embodies the essence of a beautiful summer day: it's pretty, refreshing, and feels like sunshine with a cool breeze. This scent is effortless to wear, not overly complex, and I can't imagine it would be offensive in an office setting. While I usually prefer gourmand fragrances, this aquatic scent has really impressed me. I just purchased a full bottle!

jesz

It's worth it to find an older bottle of this. The newer batch , of which I smelled samples of today (March 2024), was not as nice as one I found a few years ago.

It doesn't seem to have that fluid sense of being there, subtly enhancing the atmosphere of the wearer, yet not overpowering them.

This batch is more sharp, and has that empty, artificial disconnection of hairspray.

Jazminerenault

An amazing daily wear, something good to keep in your purse will make you feel fresh from the inside out. Great paired with Valentino born in Roma yellow dream. Not the longest smelling perfume but pairing adds the length. A really good mood booster. For all ages. Better in spring and summer.

beatrixrussell

Clean, beachy, summertime hot girl vibes. Soft floral and citrus, the mint really ties it all together. Slightly sweet but only subtly. Not my personal taste to wear but smells amazing on my friend.

Jlbeauty.reviews

This fragrance is one of my most reached for. It's uplifting, clean and such an easy reach. I like to wear this on hotter days or fresh out of the shower. It's a little sweet, and I love the lemon mint opening.

Mistargazer

I ordered a sample of this and the lotion. I am only getting the mint and jasmine, no citrus. Is it the sample or am I crazy?

tealover_

I love this perfume, its a very refreshing, light, clean and comfortable fregrance so its totally work/school friendly. The opening is statisfying, the lemon and mint notes, remind me of my favourite cold drink on a summer day mohito! After 1h-2h it dries down to a slightly sweet floral, its probably the jasmine with brown sugar combination, its a pleasant sweetness. The perfume is giving clean girl vibes and smells very natural, it fits very well for a spring/summer day and is totally worth the price for me, its a safe blind buy for fresh perfume enjoyers!

KatherineTs

I bought it with my mom years ago, and I bought it for her today. It's inoffensive, fresh and cheerful scent. Absolutely perfect for office and everyday, in late spring or summer.

For me, it has a slightly soapy/shampoo scent, like you've got out of shower, and I like that kinda vibe in this perfume.

Nothing surprising/unique or signature, thought, just a nice perfume most people will like/find inoffensive and fresh.

Vicky456

I get like a powdery citrus scent from this and nothing else.

PhantomBelle

This is such a good perfume for spring/summer, weekends, errands, any time you just need a fresh & uplifting vibe.

This is a very low-intensity perfume, it doesn't project or last too terribly long but for the price I think it's a keeper. If you want a quiet freshie, consider it. A great work/casual setting scent.

Safe blind buy? If you like fresh aquatics and citruses, I would recommend it. Purchased from: Sephora

jessyux3

My go to college scent. Looking back the fresh, aquatic, and slightly unisex scent didn't quite go with my art school multi hair colored aesthetic. Now, I imagine someone a bit more clean and put together to be wearing this.

Karielle

I enjoy a good citrus scent especially in the summer, however this is more like a chemical lemon scent. I don't get the mint at all. It's more Lemon Pledge meets Windex with a floral/migraine-inducing dry down. Definitely not a safe blind buy for citrus fans.

midnightcat

To me this smells like you just washed your hair with herbal/mint shampoo and also you used the green Dove body wash soap.
I'm really picky when it comes to clean fragrances because they can smell like cleaning supplies but this one is really beautiful. Perfect for spring and summer.

IndigoRain

A refreshing, aquatic, aromatic scent that makes me feel like I am taking a fresh breath of air. Because of its moderate sillage and non-offensive scent, it is something I can spray on without worrying if others will like it or react badly to it. It makes me imagine myself taking a hike by a river on a warm spring day where the breeze is still cool and the sun is shining on my face.

Let me say that I heavily prefer warm, spicy, sweet scents. I thought that was all I would ever like, but this fragrance has converted me. Those around you can smell it, but it isn't smacking them in the face. There is a slight floral note that keeps it decidedly feminine (light jasmine). It does only have moderate longevity, but for a more affordable aquatic fragrance, I find that pretty respectable. I can easily wear this to work, to meet new people, daily errands and smell effortlessly good.

webblt

omg.... YUM!!! lovely aquatic. i had a sample and ran out... need to get a full bottle. smells clean but not in an air freshener way--the brown sugar is perfectly done as it takes the sharpness out of the citrus and leaves them gently sweet and clean. my favorite aquatic i've encountered so far. feels like a softer, smoother light blue (which i also really like).

loversofthemoon

through my visit to a fragrance shop in the city, i became acquainted with this perfume in a fragrance oil form. the scent is refreshing and nonthreatening to the nose. an aquatic scent that to others will seem very pleasing and nice (my friends loved the perfume on me). although i would not say this is a scent i ultimately favor, i prefer this over other supposedly 'fresh' scents.

NinaSummer

This is a fresh, citrus, aquatic scent, you will smell clean if you use it. But compared to D&G Light Blue which is a very crisp citrus scent (and I also love that one), this does remind me of the rain in the rainforest (but weirdly nothing tropical about this fragrance) - possibly because of the brown sugar note, it has some sweetness to it.
So if LB is a swim in the Mediterranean and sleeping under lemon trees, this is a swim in the ocean, after a warm rain, and falling in love on the beach.

Lolapoop

it's a perfect gym fragrance if one needs to use perfume on that occasion . discreet ,clean ,water like.

Thefragrancefox

This perfume changed my view on citrus scents! At first I thought it would smell like a mojito because of the mint leaves, but I love it. It is very light and fresh and is perfect for spring and summer! It reminds me of days spent at the beach eating icecream. It is very simple and I think that is why I adore it so much. Sometimes the best fragrances are those who are simple. It is very easy to appreciate this perfume and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to smell fresh and like summer! It is also one of the perfumes I reach for the most.

jadepo21

This is a very simple, linear, and one-dimensional scent that is far too chemically for my taste. But it is more unisex than I imagined it would be and I can see how some could associate it with summer and water and fresh air. I wanted to love it because of the idea behind it, but it’s more hairspray than aquatic to my nose.

lemonsandroses

Incredibly simple and easy to wear. I have some freshies that last longer but they're not as refreshing to me as Acqua di Gioia, which has a legitimate "icy" effect - mint comes through in a very cool and light way, not overly green or herbaceous and not loudly BLUE like cool water and other gel deodorant-like scents.

AdalynEverly

First Impressions (Dabber Sample):
When I first smelled this perfume I love the smell of to at first. I am thankful that I bought a little dabber of it, and not the whole bottle. I do love the beginning of the perfume because of the mint. This perfume is a little to weak for my taste, and the dry down does smell similar to baby powder. I would like the perfume to have the jasmine, and the mint a little bit more pronounced, and lasted longer in the composition.
Better alternative: You or someone like you by Etat Libre d'Orange- minty with a musky rose dry down.
Edit 1 (01/06/2023):
Y'all after trying Ocean Di Gioia, and other fresh perfumes this one is very overrated. To me this one not only smells too mature on my skin, but also that brown sugar note is trying to make that mint last longer to no avail. This does well in the heat, but there are way better freshies out there, as a woman that is a freshie connoisseur.

Summary:
Smells like: Sweet mature mint (A failed attempt at a mojito).
Family of: Mint freshie perfumes (You or someone like you by ELDO)
Sillage: Medium-Intimate

Verdict: Pass- Way better fresh perfumes out there. Even Ocean di Gioia is better.

Essie12

I agree with the sentiments that this fragrance is quite flat. I like clean scents and thought this would work but it's very one dimensional. It doesn't change much so the olfactory experience is limited.

It's also smells a bit fishy with my body chemistry. 🥲

kissmeoverthegardengate

Very pretty. I love clean, fresh scents like this. I probably won’t buy a big bottle because I have other similar perfumes.

widowcat

This smells like suave hairspray to me :/

hot_imouto

Love this. Reminds me of watermelon even though there is nothing like that in the notes. A wonderful clean scent.

davidlong13

Acqua di Gioia and I have been acquainted for many years now. One of the few citrus/aquatic scents that I greatly enjoy. If anyone out there reading this had the original bottle and was scared that the newer design meant a newer formulation, fear not. The formulation is exactly the same (well at least to my nose anyway).

The fragrance is fairly linear in that you will consistently get notes of lemon, mint and sugar throughout the wear. There is something very comforting about this to me. Also, given that it’s an aquatic citrus, it has a fairly good longevity. I get a minimum of 5 hours wear from this. Silage is on the moderate side. However, not too close it for to be deemed a skin scent.

I think this would make a good gift to someone of any age. Additionally to someone of any gender.

Scent: 7/10
Longevity: 8/10
Silage 7/10

overtsaceie

This perfume has a nice performance and last very long, worth the price !

Anniemal

On me this was our water jasmine with a hint of ceder. I unexpectedly didn’t like it since I usually like aquatic scents. It did not last in me and was pretty flat water flower smell.

ibisruber

I really wanted to like this because someone gifted it to me for my birthday. Sadly, on me the beautiful fresh citrus scent lasts max 5 minutes and then it just turns into a white floral that makes me nauseous. I think it may be the water jasmine or the brown sugar note, I'm not sure. Definitely test this out first before buying.

terezzz

Everyone needs this type of clean, aquatic scent in their collection. It does smell like citrus, but it makes this fragrance more zesty than smell like washing detergent. The jasmine in this actually makes this a beautiful clean floral scent. I wear this on days when I don't know what to wear and when I want to feel fresh.

janiefmc

There is something so heavy about this aquatic scent. This used to be a friend's signature and I adored it on her, but on myself not as much. It's like a thick hot dark stormy water that my skin chemistry can't quite square up to. It seemed refreshing paired with her strong natural musk, but on me it's a weird "nighttime aquatic" rather than a light breezy one. I still really appreciate it though, it's an easy reach.

brandiwine1980

I loved this one back in the day. I haven’t smelled it in 20 years, but my mind is thinking of Light Blue and CK One. I honestly think perhaps this was the first perfume I really paid attention to. I can’t remember if I ever actually had a bottle of it. If I did, it must’ve been small and I must’ve used up right away. I must sample in the near future. Too bad so many say doesn’t last.

candyxoxo589

I wanted this scent for the longest time ever. I got it from a Black Friday sale, and I don't regret it at all! It definitely has a clean citrus aroma to it. When I spray, it lasts me about 20 minutes, and to have it long lasting, it would take you about 20 sprays or so.
This scent is a great daytime scent that is perfect for the spring or summer time. This is suitable for the gym as well, and will have you smelling fresh overall. This is a must have to your perfume collection!

Vmich

I get mojito and Lysol. Not bad, it’s got interesting notes. I think it’s the jasmine in the dry down that I’m not really liking. The lemon and mint opening was interesting, and there’s definitely an aquatic note, but it strikes me as too synthetic, I think from the lemon and definitely the jasmine. It’s just ok for me.

QueOndaGuera

Pretty, refreshing, sunshine and a cool breeze on a hot day. I can see this being easy to wear as it isn’t too complex and I can’t imagine it would offend anyone in an office setting. I generally lean to gourmand fragrances but for an aquatic fragrance this is quite nice. I might get a mini size once summer rolls around again.

Ms_Meghan

This is summer in a bottle, but not just any summer, chic and sophisticated summer. Picture drinking an ice cold mojito on a balcony overlooking the ocean. There is a refreshing breeze, you can smell the salty sea, your expensive sunscreen and your cocktail. First you are met with the citrus and soon you get hints of mint, Jasmine and woody notes. Clean, fresh and crisp.

Rootiscalculating

It was my university years’ perfume. In my opinion it’s a 20’s perfume. Smells nice, pretty, fresh but that’s all :)

anamarmo

I wanted to buy fresh citrusy summer fragrance and I thought this was it. Smells just like that and I love it. But after 20min it is gone. Doesn't last more than that on my skin. Very disappointed. Good thing is that it was on sale for 30e so I didnt spend too much. Hope that it is just in my case and that other people will get to enjoy its full magic.

dasha11596

When I first smelled this I loved it! Unfortunately after wearing it the whole day, I did not love the dry down. It started to remind me of a bathroom air freshener. It also smelled like a bathroom spray on my clothes when I smelled them the next day. All in all it is an ok perfume. I think I prefer ocean di gioia over this one!

Deulseobs

Loved the opening, but I quickly got to what I think is the jasmine, and it smells weird / a little too musky / mothball-y to me. I'm a tad sensitive to jasmine and can tolerate it sometimes, but not here, sadly. :(
After the jasmine passes and fades though, the drydown is great: sweet (not too sweet), fresh, and subtle.

Wish the jasmine didnt bother me. I'll try it again another time and see if the distaste still sticks.

amnebe

Imagine drinking a glass of super sour lemonade right after brushing your teeth with minty toothpaste. Then add a strong, cloying jasmine layer to it. Yeah. That's the smell. It's just not for me. I can see the appeal. It gives a fresh, cool aura like having Vick's Vapor Rub on your chest. And I can see how it could be a great summer citrus alternative for people who think Light Blue smells like bug spray like I do. At a distance, I might even like this. Unfortunately, up close, it just makes me nauseous because it's so strong.

Monecoljack

This is my absolute favorite perfume of all time

astralmonad870

This was one of the first perfumes I ever fell in love with and owned in my late 20s. Although I don’t really wear it these days, I still keep my bottle on hand because it’s special and I’ll never tire of it.

Bhavnalovesscents

This is virgin mojito in a bottle. It’s so fresh, very uplifting. It’s literally the kind of scent that you get positive energy from. Beautiful and perfect for any time of the day. It’s the one I reach out to the most no matter what my mood is because This is super wearable anytime.

I don’t care if it’s basic and has no longevity, this smells so divine to me. There are so many citrusy, sweet, and fresh fragrances that I like but this one stands apart to my nose. I’m not sure what makes this my perfect blend, maybe it’s the mint.
It makes me so happy to spray it on, that it is a pleasure to reapply it when it fades.

Forbiddenjade

No Giorgio, this minty flat water isn't what I expected of you. Non existing sillage and longevity, a flatness that borders sadness. Neither good for layering! What is this? 5 mins and it's gone with the wind. Bah.

MelindaS

This was my very first introduction years ago to "aquatic" type of fragrances. I really love this. I have never visited the Mediterranean, but I picture a woman in a crisp white dress standing by the seaside wearing this. The mint adds a coolness to this that makes this wearable in the most brutal hot temperatures. Although light, this is not one you want to overspray. Lasting power is okay, about 4-5 hours on my skin. Crowd pleaser and definitely a safe blind buy if you're into fresh aquatics.

junimo

Can be worn anywhere really, but the memories I have of wearing this fragrance always take me to the beach. Lovely for a summer's day. Very safe for any age. Was my main fragrance throughout high school.

The only Gioia I enjoyed, actually!

watermelonmami

This perfume is a classic, safe summer scent. It’s very pretty, and a bit basic for those who don’t like complex scents. I find it to have a more youthful scent to it, but I believe anyone could get away with wearing it. I love to wear it to work in the summer months because it’s fresh and inoffensive. Easy to gift to someone as it’s a universally flattering scent.

ina.rem

This one is great for hot summer. I took it with me on vacation to Cancun. It was just perfect for hot days—so refreshing and pleasant.

glowcel

It's nice lol. That's it, just nice.

Septentriones Lilium

This is gorgeous. So clean, fresh and invigorating. I really wish it didn't transform into a strong rotten celery smell on my skin.

liebecherie

This is a fresh, citrus, and slightly woody perfume for spring/summer. My go-to for warmer weather.

carabear27

I'm a big fan. Reminds me a bit of Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt; icy cool aquatics that are fresh and pleasant. Very summery and wearable. Gotta try it on skin, but it might be worth repurchasing instead of Wood Sage and Sea Salt if the longevity is better.

Dee97

I think I’ve found the perfect everyday perfume for me. It’s so fresh, like you just stepped out of the shower but it’s also mouthwatering, refreshing, icy and cool like the other reviews have said - which makes it perfect for spring and summer. However, I feel like I’ll be wearing this no matter what season as sometimes I get headaches or get sick of perfumes that are too sweet, fruity etc. I’ve been wanting a perfume that I won’t get sick of with consistent wear and I feel like this is it. The brown sugar adds that touch of sweetness and grounds the scent, making it even more beautiful. However I’ll admit when I first tried it, it didn’t wow me. I think it’s because I was expecting it to smell like something like D&G light blue or something along those lines but fresher - but the more I tried it, the more I loved it. A lot of fresh perfumes tend to have the cleaning product or soapy vibe to them but this has neither, just a simple, clean and fresh aquatic scent with a hint of sweetness. Also, I’m surprised at how long lasting this is for a fresh perfume as I can still catch whiffs of myself after a long day. This will remain a staple in my perfume collection for sure.

Update: already gotten a lot of compliments on this one. Hugged my friend and she said I smell really nice and fresh, another friend asked to use some perfume as she didn’t have any on her and she loved it and even asked to take a picture of the bottle. Then when I was refreshing myself in a public toilet, someone said my perfume smells really nice. I didn’t think it would have this kind of reaction from people because it’s quite a simple scent, but something about it is so addictive and I’m going through my bottle so quick that I need to buy another one asap. I never really finish perfume bottles especially after a week of getting them, so you know this is a special one. Love it.

car0

A mojito. Mint, fresh, icy. I wish the acquatic feeling was more in line with others like L'eau d'Issey but it's nice nonetheless, sometimes if it's way too hot outside it becomes bothersome (ironic since i had always seen this as a freshie), maybe it's my skin playing tricks with the watery notes once again, maybe it's something else. Thankfully I don't suffer too much that one weird thing my skin does after the opening since it's longevity is nonexistent.

Jeswes89

This perfume is fresch and citrusy. But this smells good after 2-3 hours. Before that it's so harsh and headache inducing 😬

Coopfrag

This is a beautiful summer fragrance, it’s so fresh with a lovely sweetness but unfortunately it doesn’t last on my skin at all. This would of been a repurchase if the longevity was better but I don’t think I’d purchase again unfortunately unless anyone has any tips.

Andy224

Nice aromatic perfume. Smells earthy and clean. Just beautiful.

sarahlage

This is my favorite "fresh" perfume! I usually prefer heavier scents, but this is simply summer joy in a bottle! Very light and aquatic– I quite enjoy it! I think it's a safe blind buy also.

ash96

I love the freshness and simplicity of this perfume. Its clean and it dries down beautifully. One of my summer favorites. I think it's a pretty safe blind buy as well.

VioletLace

To my nose it smells exactly like the notes listed. I've had it on for about an hour now and I detect the water jasmine with the faint cedar undertone. It's fresh and clean and I enjoy applying it after I get out of the shower. The longevity is about 2-3 hours on me. While it's a likable scent, it's quite boring and safe. I'm using it up because I got a deluxe sample when I ordered something else. I don't like it enough to purchase a full size bottle.

scnofthcrime

Armani got me with the opening on this one. It opens as a perfectly refreshing minty, citrusy mojito. However this scent is completely front loaded. After 20-30 minutes all the fun mojito vibes have already burned off and you're left with a watery, nondescript floral for a few hours before fading away completely. If it held on to the opening I would have kept this. But it the fun didn't last so I destashed this one.

AndreeaRadu

Smells great.. for 5 minutes. And I’m not exaggerating. I’ve been in a holiday in Turkey for a week in 40+ Celsius. I applied the perfume when getting out of the hotel… and in 5 min it was gone. I had 50 ml bottle and consumed more than half in an attempt for me to “smell of something” … nothing 😭just a waste of money and worse.. a holiday without a great scent .. luckily I had the Elizabeth Arden green tea cream with me and that helped a bit… won’t rebuy this perfume… worst reformulation ever

Lauraura

The bottle is pretty, acqua di gioia opens with a strong citrus/mohito smell, i find this perfume to turn quite masculin on my skin, definately a unisex perfume, i prefer the beautiful ocean di gioia.

Lasura

I like this a lot, great for summer, but also for the colder months since this has certain butterniness in it. Fresh in the beginning, mint note is gone in a second unfortunately, but aquatic feelings stays on pretty long. Pleasant, skin like finish, really nice.

la_belle_duchesse

I really like this! It's such a refreshing summer scent. I get the sweetness from the brown sugar note, which compliments the citrusy freshness of the fragrance well. Some people are comparing it to a mojito cocktail and I definitely get that vibe as well. A nicely balanced scent, one that I pick up a lot during those hot, summer days. I also think the bottle design is beautiful. 🍋🌿🍹The longevity is a bit lacking though and I usually have to reapply throughout the day. That is a bit unfortunate because I really enjoy the scent otherwise.

OloraGolosina

My first blind buy, It is definitely a safe one, I feel that I have smelled this before; its name is very agreeable, there is a refreshing aquatic characteristic about it, it's reminiscent of warm rain in a tropical forest over water lilies and jasmine flowers; it's funny because I feel humidity whenever I wear it. The smell is pleasant, longevity on my skin is 4 hours before I have to reapply, projection is good, perhaps 1.5mt, for 2.5 hours and slowly diminishing until it becomes a skin scent, I would say it's ok plus, not a masterpiece, good for Spring/Summer, acceptable to wear in a work environment, cinema and many other indoor activities. I guess I am glad it wasn't boring or awful, I'll finish this bottle but I would not repurchase.

pinkavocado

This is mojito coctail. I am not impressed much but someone recently asked me what I am wearing because it has filled all room. Who would thought.

bajablast

For some reason I've been neglecting this one, but every time I wear it, I'm reminded of how great it is. The warmer the weather, the better this smells. I have the old bottle. The brown sugar note perfectly compliments the freshness. It smells niche

Lisa86

This crisp green scent gives me confidence to feel powerful and in charge without being masculine.

Why? Because it smells like MONEY.

perfumelovere

My signature scent when it first came out. I wore this for a few years and received countless compliments. The formula and composition is gorgeous and one of my all time favorite aquatics. Not sure what happened around 2015 timeframe but many perfumes became weak skin scents that only last a few hours with little to no scent bubble. There is a noticeable difference in concentration and quality from a 2013 bottle versus a 2023 bottle. I'm still not sure how these companies can advertise and charge for an EDP that has the strength of a high quality body spray. It's deceptive though because they are strong right out of the bottle and then after an hour can only be noticed when you put your nose up to your wrist. On the bright side you can spray a lot without worrying about offending anyone. That's the one thing I do appreciate about the emergence of perfumes that stay close to the skin.

HannahRosesAreRed

The ultimate summer citrus, right up there with rival Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue. Acqua Di Gioia is the ubiquitous fresh fragrance, a combination of clean, fruity lemon, aromatic, cooling mint, fresh, green cedar wood and just a touch a white floral for sweetness. The result is a refreshing, invigorating piquant scent, perfect for the worst heat and humidity. It's instantly invigorating and comforting. The opening is sharp but not screechy, and the drydown is appealingly soft and almost musky, but still retaining those aromatic and lemony notes. It's a beautiful fragrance that perfectly matches its lovely aqua-hued juice and mineral bottle design.

BUT–it has one huge, fatal flaw. Its longevity. Or lack thereof.

Like water on skin in dry desert heat, Acqua Di Gioia refreshes–but also vanishes. It disappears as quickly as it's sprayed. On my skin, it lasted an hour before it vanished without a trace. Granted, this isn't unusual for many fresh citrus fragrances of its kind, but it's truly a shame. So many of the other Di Gioias have this problem. For the price and for the quality of the scent itself, Acqua Di Gioia really should perform better than it does.

takema

I have a bottle of the older formulation (bottle with the round cap) and have had a couple samples of the more recent formulation. I didn't notice any significant differences in performance and smell. I didn't try them side by side though. I really enjoyed the samples, but was a bit let down by the performance and was hoping the older formulation had better performance. For me it didn't. But it's a lovely refreshing fragrance. It is easy to wear on hot, humid, sticky days. The lemon is refreshing, the mint is cooling, the jasmine is light, watery and feminine. The brown sugar adds a slightly warm sweetness that keeps the fragrance from becomeing too astringent. I don't notice the cedar and labdanum on my skin.

Acqua di Gioia is a casually feminine fragrance that is lovely to wear anytime. The jasmine leans more jasmine tea than overly floral, so this could be a work friendly fragrance. It is not loud and obnoxious so is a great choice when you want something unobtrusive that is fresh and clean.

The performance is on the low end of average for a freshie. I find it usually lasts 3-4 hours on skin and not much longer on clothes. I don't find a heavier application helps with longevity. It does help with projection, but only for a short time, about an hour. Overall the projection is pretty light. It stays withis arms reach for most of the wear.

I don't think it's worth trying to track down an older bottle or paying a premium for one. The performance isn't noticeably better and I don't notice any difference in the scent. My bottle is from 2017 for reference, and I have had samples from the last couple years. Also the newer bottles are a little prettier. I like the rounder bottle and the polished gemstone looking top, much more than my more squared bottle and boring, round plastic cap. The atomizer is great on my bottle though. It's a pretty generous spray. which is needed for this fragrance.

Kylix

I smell… melon in this. The note that is between melon and marine in perfumery. Mint is very artificial. It’s not a bad perfume, instead it’s summery sparkling, but too generic.

Adjr1087

This is my easy reach for the hot, sticky summer weather. I prefer this over other "summer" musky fragrances that tend to make me nauseous. This is like a sip of a very refreshing drink when you feel like suffocating with extreme hot weather. I feel like we need more summer fragrances with mint, but also a balance between being too "lemony" and too sweet. This one is just a perfect balance between those 2 accords.

elinadinex

A hot summer day in the city before I was meeting up with some friends, I decided to buy this and "refresh myself". First I thought this was the perfect clean girl perfume but after I've been wearing this I think otherwise, I want to think I got a bad batch but after I let it sit it gives me nausea and the smell is anything but pleasant and especially if you overspray this, which you kinda have to because it disapears quickly. Want to love this but something about it is just off for me and the scent changes quickly from something amazing to something awful unfortunately.

Mars134340

Amazing! very summery scent. I wear this everyday!

Kozache

Love love love, perfect for summer, Florida.

hpeeters

This is a lovely fresh and bright scent! I don’t really detect the mint, it blends well within the bottle. I definitely get the jasmine, I love jasmine scents. the lemon is not to bitter in this!

Jenbug23

I’ve had this for years and I’ve always loved it. I retired it for winter and just came back to it for summer and it’s much sweeter than I remember. The brown sugar note is much more forward and I’m loving it! Truly gets better with time .

cheleine

I was overlooking this for a long time. I’ve tried this on paper and the initial blast was too sweet for a summer fresh scent (what I was looking for at the time). Back then I was trying other perfumes as well and I completely forgot about it. Actually, I didn’t care for it until I’ve tried it again recently, on my skin, this time.
The sweetness lasts for a few minutes only and then it just gets transformed into a seductive aquatic beauty. That dry down… absolutely stunning!
It’s what I wished Cool Water would be. It has that dewy, after the summer rain in nature but also close to the sea kind of scent. Just a tiny bit salty. Natural and relaxing.
I think this is inoffensive even if you overspray, has a pretty decent staying power and very good sillage and it is actually quite easy to like. Good to spray on when nothing else works for the heat of the mediterranean summer. A like (maybe love?) for me. 🩵

Shansh

Green, aquatic, sparkling, refreshing.
It is a luxurious and sophisticated scent, with a chic and young twist.
The smell of a mojito on the beach.
Works just as well in the evening and on cold days.

zenithince

My signature scent that I don't share with anyone. It reminds me of calm sunny days and reflects the beauty of nature. I wear it confidently, perfect for summer outings, beaches and evenings. Refreshing, feminine, clean and chic. Beautiful bottle. Magical for night events. I love it!

I fell in love with the strong, fresh aquatic nature. No sharp notes, no melon or lotus. Delicious and bright, like fresh cucumber with lemon. Fresh lemon, aquatic notes, a bit of cedar. Light and airy, perfect for the warmer months. Evokes the sea. Invigorating, energetic Joy Water. Long-lasting, medium sillage. Ideal for summer. One of the best citrus scents. I've been wearing it for 5 years and I can't get enough of it.

Tasherapd

For me this fragrance evokes spring showers. It’s so fresh and clean and refreshing. For me this is an ultimate clean girl scent. Perfect for an everyday go to for spring summer days.

SELFCARE_INTROVERT

I have been eyeing this Fragrance for about 2 Years now. I decided to take the plunge and buy a Travel Size; one Spray and I was immediately blown away. I went right back to the Website and ordered a full bottle. This Perfume is Absolutely GORGEOUS! Fresh with a Hint of Sweetness. It’s stunning. Perfect for Spring and Summer. I would definitely recommend this one.

joikgirl

I have been wanting to buy this fragrance for more than 10 years now. I first smelled it at my aunts place who also likes perfumes. Its a beautiful aromatic fragrance for spring and summertime. I love a good mint, it is one of my weaknesses in perfumes, same story with jasmine and this is a beautiful blend of both. Suitable for everyone, young and old, it is youthful and mature at the same time and would suit a man and a woman.

ntabassum92

This is one of the first perfumes I remember having a sample of. I didn't understand the hype at first, as it came off too sharp on me and also much sweeter than I had expected a fresh perfume to be. I actually steered away from all ozonic perfumes because of this fragrance! But as I wore my sample, 9 years ago now, I slowly fell in love with the brown sugar, lemon, and mint combination. The lemon does kind of sear your nostrils a little, but in the same way salt can burn when it gets in your nose from ocean water.

I have a full on love affair with mint now, so I'm so thankful to have a bottle of this mint-forward perfume. My mom was gifted a bottle and I stole it :D I don't smell the mint as herbal or peppermint, but it's more of a feeling, that super refreshing cooling feeling that mint gives a drink on a hot day. Wore it on a beach vacation last year and it was so perfect. Now it gives me all the memories of the seaside and also those early days when I first explored perfume. It has pretty moderate lasting power on me, I don't struggle with the performance as much as some other people do. I also get compliments on this perfume, so other people do smell it!

Love Acqua di Gioia, nothing that smells quite like it!

Rkivenamu7

I have it and I love it, something fresh with I hint of sugar that I really like. The only bad aspect, it doesn't last too much on me, 2 hours maximum, too bad.

johnsoneva115

Five minutes of minty lemony mojito, then sadly it’s pure jasmine and white floral soapiness on my skin.

jazzscent13

Such an easy going fresh scent. It’s one of the few freshies on the market, that doesn’t smell like cleaning solution. The mint and brown sugar in this balances out the citrus notes, making it the perfect gender neutral smell. This has moderate longevity and projecting. I mainly use this for simple/casual days. This would make a great signature scent for anyone with a sensitive nose.

qinny

I love this for an everyday scent. So fresh and clean without smelling like a cleaning product. This would be perfect for hot summer days and/or in professional settings where you don't want to offend anyone with a strong scent but still wants to smell good. There's a tinge of sweetness from the brown sugar to cut through the aromatic elements so it doesn't go into "cologne" category. Really love it.

Bonis001

My favorite Signature scent ahh i will for sure miss the 2010 ,version of this perfume green dark cap. Very fresh for summer staying power was for days the hair mist very lovely minty and lots of compliments. - wish they brought it back. THIS newer version with the light green Cap is not the same as the older version. This one is more light less minty and not lasting anymore. Its just different :(.

Poudery

Acqua di Gioia lives up to its name - I recently bought it and have been wearing it in the changing spring weather we've had: from cool, to slightly warm, to early summer temperatures. It's simply very enjoyable, fresh, bright and...friendly! Not overwhelming, even if you're a heavy sprayer, stays soft and juicy. No sharpness, no headache inducing note.
The mint and brown sugar notes remind me of a Mojito. An alltogether energetic vibe. Conjures up images of half shaded orchards and gardens for me, which help enhance the impression of a cooling effect.

Lasts a couple of hours on my skin, longer on fabric and hair. Has a moderate sillage in the beginning and after a while stays closer to the body. Perfect day fragrance in spring and summer.

makeup_therapy

It’s great on other people. On me it has such an annoying bitter note. I think I’m just repulsed by a synthetic almost metallic mint note. I tried Aqua Celestia by MFK and i had the same reaction to it, like something is off. I love mint in drinks and food but in these perfumes it’s not working for me.

GigiKay

Perfect. Lovely and perfect. Light, bright and happy.

gory-rilmore

The only reason I didn't try this sooner is I have some kind of prejudice against big brands like Armani. Like, I'm convinced they can't "get" me. This was foolish of me. Acqua di Gioia rules.

This has the vibe of a summer day spent at the art museum followed by a mojito on a terrace. It's hard to find a fragrance that's sophisticated while also feeling so light and breezy. It's tasteful, pretty, classic without coming close to being grandma-esque. I feel like when someone catches a whiff of this, they want a little more.

I feel like I'm going to run the travel size dry this summer and I'll be crawling back for the full size.

Ghadah02

This is unique and smells modern. It's highly ADDICTIVE and smells expensive like a high-class fragrance.

dovey

To me this is an office Day perfume that will keep u fresh & clean throughout the day, suitable for all 4 seasons of the year

Not a summer beach scent for me, I aim to fruity loud sweet ones like Escada's , DKNY & VS

Flowerfruit

This is so bright and refreshing! It’s the perfect fragrance to wear in warm weather and transports me to the Amalfi coast. Reminds me of a classier version of D&G Light Blue.

Sheherazad

Bright yellow lemons splashing into a clear pond sparkling in the sunlight. Aromatic bushes of mint sway gently in a soft breeze, distinctly scenting the scene. Fragrant water jasmine float by, return & decide to stay, undulating precariously in the midst of zesty citrus water play. A happy springtime fragrance.

rachermacora

Nice fresh fragrance, feminine and inoffensive. Longevity isn’t great, but for the price point reapplying isn’t super upsetting. Love it!

zvrkic

What in world I was thinking when I purchase perfume with green bottle…
I am looking for something I can wear on hot summer day so I blind bought it. It is wearable but it is not love on first sign. I miss some warmth. Someone said it is like mojito and I agree. Also I see this as perfume Thumbelina would wear while sitting on lotus. Husband said it remind him of his perfume Prada Luna Rossi

AllisonNW

I am so excited that it’s starting to warm up in my area so I can wear this! The “main accords” graphic would make me think I wouldn’t like this one, yet the notes enticed me. Luckily I gave it a shot and it’s so good! My husband had such a huge positive reaction to this one, I was stunned! The cool mint with the refreshing citrus makes me bubble over with happiness, instantly lifting my mood. The jasmine here is so nice. It’s not heady or indolic. The base notes never become too prominent, but support the longevity and it stays a freshie for a long time! I’m thoroughly impressed. Versace Versense is my most treasured spring/summer easy reach freshie with great longevity, but this one is definitely a close second. Versense is green, figgy, and more of a floral focused fragrance to me. ADG is chilled, effervescent, citrus heaven.

amg7613

I didn’t have high expectations but this perfume is a bop and a half!

So, I decided to take advantage of Sephora’s half of Acqua Di Gioia today. I did not plan on buying this, and I think I had smelled it once in 2012, but I didn’t remember disliking it - and summertime is coming up, so why not. I went in and smelled it on a test strip in the store, thought whoopty do, but I had a gut feeling and went with it.

It’s so fresh and crisp. Lasts all day! Several compliments. The mint and lemon dry down into a soapy cedar, and holds on here for the rest of the day. You will go nose blind and think it disappeared, but it didn’t. It wafts around you like a Princess on the Amalfi Coast.

If you want to manifest all your dreams, wear this perfume. The end!

clairescentience

Why is nobody talking about how this smells so effortlessly wealthy??? Like fanning money to your face? Where is the mention of the wood and leather?? And the mintiness is not the eucalyptus kind. It didnt read as menthol to me, more like uplifting and fresh! A beautiful scent for people who want a sophisticated scent that has elements of money, wood, and leather that doesn't smell like an Uncle or Auntie, and smells so LIGHT, AIRY, and refined!

daisybrown

girls trip to the amalfi coast, ice cold mojitos, isle of capri (pants), fresh mint and limoncello

searching for signature

Fresh citrus with a touch of mint. Clean and relaxing and easy to wear.

JapanEnthusiast

I hate the bottle so much! But the perfume smells amazing! This is another fragrance for those of us who like tasteful scents. If you like Chance eau tendre eau de parfum by Chanel or Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia cologne, you will probably like this. Fragrances with a lot of class and are more mature. Acqua di Gioa is an acquatic, Mediterranean perfume. It starts out soft but lasts throughout the day. I liked it so much I bought a gift set of Acqua di Gioa and it is up there in my most prized top favorite fragrances.

Jessk

I sprayed this into the air at Sephora just to see what it was. I would never have pegged myself to like anything “lemony-mint”, it’s totally not my scent profile as I don’t do unisex & I’ve thought mint was a male-only direction. But this pleasantly surprised me, it was so fun & nice, and maintained femininity.

Smelling this, I was instantly transported to a Mediterranean beach (though I’ve never been to one- this is what I’d imagine it to smell like lol). I can definitely see why this is so popular. It’s quite an enticing freshie.

Now I’m kicking myself for not spraying it on myself to test the dry-down. One day lol.

TonkaBean546

I love this scent so much, it’s a tried and true fresh summer classic. A true staple for warm weather. When I smell it I just feel like I’m in a white loose shirt with linen pants, strolling down the beach with a perfect tan.

elleb03

I adore this. Strolling the rivieras, the beach, the pier, east coast waters while listening to beautiful music. A perfect summer scent. Refreshing, feminine, clean and classy. Amazing!! Ugh I cannot get enough. The bottle is also beautiful. One of my favorites of all time. I know the votes lean towards day wear usage mostly, but a late night dinner date after swimming all day, damp hair, a beautiful dress, a fresh tan, hydrated skin, and I can see this perfume being magical during night time! So so so beautiful.

HellenaNeroli

Sitting by the ocean and sipping lemonade while the fresh ocean air goes through your hair. You can also smell some nice sun cream in a distance. Just beautiful🥰

GoodNose

I bought this perfume after hearing many positive reviews and wanting to have a fresh scent in my humble collection.
After sampling it in the store, I couldn't help but reach out to constantly smell the tester paper.
From the first spray and fast-forward hours later, it's a very clean, citrusy and delicious scent.

Definitely feel like I'm on holiday by the beach when I wear it. I can imagine it will smell incredible on a hot summer day. Love the hint of the mint note also - makes me feel like I've stepped out of a shower!

peachnipz

This is my signature scent. I've been wearing it ever since it was released. It was the first perfume that I really invested in (as a teenager, this felt like a real investment at the time). After wearing it for 10+ years, I have been curious about exploring other scents, which is how I found this website. I do enjoy trying on new scents and switching it up, but Acqua di Gioa will always hold a special place in my heart and I can't imagine another scent taking its place as #1. At some point, it became a part of my identity. It's super fresh and gorgeous. It's young and bright. Imagine having the best day at the beach, sipping mojitos with your besties, going home and taking a shower, and climbing into silk sheets. That's how it makes me feel.

astralmonad870

This has always been a staple in my perfume collection. One of my favourite scents. Nowadays you can get a 50-ml bottle for only $50 which is a good price point for a quality designer fragrance. The combo of mint and lemon is perfectly divine and fresh, good to wear year-long although best for summer. The brown sugar is so well-blended I can’t smell it. I forgot how good the longevity was. I sprayed some at 3 pm and I can still smell it on my wrists at 2 am, 11 hours later.

tilapia_johnson

Very simplistic but very wearable. Opening is a nothing-fancy, GMO lemon with only a hint of mint. The middle note of jasmine is a generic perfume-y smell, but quickly jumps to brown sugar and labdanum, which adds a grounding element that usually patchouli does in fragrance. Other reviewers say this smells like a mojito, but it smells more like a mojito that has spilled on one's sundress and dried in the sun. The longevity is very poor, but that is what could make this the perfect perfume for a person who doesn't like heavy or overly girly scents. It is fresh. clean, and light, better for warmer times.

HillTop

There is already said so much about this gorgeous fragrance. Minty fresh with the best vibes of jasmine you can imagine. Like a perfect fit of blue jeans - you feel confident, sporty, elegant. Nothing to add. Perfection in a bottle.

Shui-Xian

Very pleasant, clean and airy.

Proclamed "harmony with nature" smells by drugstore synteticity, but it is balanced.
Citruses very well combined with dewy flowers. Jasmine is just a gentle, elegant touch.
Hard to say if this perfume is more green or flowery or fresh: every aspect suits. The base is not heavy but solid.

I like it. Safe choice indeed.

Moderate sillage and longevity (about 4-5 hours).

moonbird33

This was a blind buy, and I don't regret the purchase at all. It's sweet, pleasant, fresh, and light. The opening smells almost mojito-y. It's a very innocuous perfume and could be worn for many occasions. Nothing particularly memorable about it, but that's okay. Sometimes, you just want something simple.

swetly.scented

One of my favorites. It's a fresh fragrance but very rich and has this depth to it for sure. I imagine a nice, rich lady wearing it. Note: the opening is okay but the dry down is definitely what makes this fragrance unique. I highly recommend checking it out.

milipudding

I like this! At first very fresh and aquatic, then quickly becomes very fruity. Reminds me of Tommy girl, basic but preppy. I imagine a New England boarding school graduate would wear this when she goes to the Hamptons for a summer family gathering. A crowd pleaser. I probably won’t buy the full bottle.

Serena007

I adore this scent. In the beginning you get a beautiful burst of lemon and crisp mint. It dries down to a perfect balance between fresh and sweet, lasts on my skin all day. You can definitely smell the jasmine in this too. Works every season of the year and perfect for everyday wear. I notice myself getting hints of the fragrance all throughout the day, it's not an offensive scent - a crowd pleaser if you will. It's feminine and a safe blind-buy as well. Simply stunning. The name of the fragrance fits perfectly - water of joy.

bajablast

The beginning really does resemble a mojito!!! I think it’s a very intentional composition actually and I enjoy that they kept it to just a few notes. Every note is present, but they come together harmoniously. On me it dries down sugary. 4-5hr wear. I have the old packaging. It’s a great feminine summer scent that’s not pink or overtly floral. If I lived somewhere warm, I’d own more from the line

Ankvak

Lovely, fresh green scent. Perfect for hot summer day.

Itiskimia

soap, soap, soap and more soap but not in a bad way, it’s very refreshing and perfect for spring and hot summer days. the weird thing is that somehow every time i wear it i end up getting a compliment on the way i smell and it’s mainly from women

bea777

This is my signature scent during summer, every time I wear this I receive so many compliments. My mother loves it, so much so that I'm debating buying her a bottle. Such an easy and intuitive reach when there's hot weather, it's truly the perfect fit. This scent is so juicy, fresh and slightly floral. Such a happy scent for me which holds so many good memories. I've made a significant dent in my 100ml bottle which is rare for me.

Thykes10

A nice refreshing citrus floral. I can easily pick out the citrus and jasmine. I can’t specifically pick out the mint but that must be what gives this a refreshing feel. It’s a very soft and pleasant scent but not a love for me. Doesn’t project strongly and lasted about 4 hours before becoming a skin scent.

procatstinating

Really easy reach on a hot day. It's hard to go wrong with this one. It opens a bit shampooey on me, I wish the mint and cedar came through more. As time goes on it develops some complexity and loses some of that shampooey quality to become a very delicate and feminine aquatic floral. It doesn't have any of that bitterness or sour note that citric scents can sometimes take on, it's just smooth and refreshing. Smells like having a mojito by a fountain in a flower garden.
Fantastic if you want to smell fresh and clean all day. It's pretty casual, I wouldn't recommend it for the night unless you're having a drink at a beach bar or something.
I haven't tried yet, but I suspect it would lend itself nicely to layering with other scents to give them a fresher, more aquatic quality, or if you want to give this crowd pleaser the edge it doesn't have on its own, since it's not a statement scent by any means.
If you simply want something pretty, soft, calming, delicate, go for it! If you want to stand out, give it a pass. All in all I'm happy to have it around!

oblyth

A really pleasant bright aquatic fresh perfume. Nothing to complain about.

KylieBooFace

Citrus and minty without being too sweet. This is definitely a fresh "out of the shower" scent. Not as sweet as Cool Water or Ocean di Gioia to my nose.

dudulisicous

Absolute beauty. Fresh and reminscent of the meditterenean with the labdanum giving a depth to it. Not your average freshie. I think I would put this on the list of my all time favorites!!!! It truly smells like sipping a mint mojito by a pool in the middle of Mediterranean greenery.

Axuree

I smell nuts...

I keep thinking I must've fucked up the bottle or smth but no, everything is fresh and original and it's the correct variant. It smells like nuts in my skin.

It's not bad, but it's definitely dumbfounding.

chimidoro

So upset that I sold off my Essenza version and recently purchased this presuming it would be a softer, more easy going, possibly less woody version.
I like this, but I'll never wear it. I really regret it and wish I'd stuck with the Essenza!

Even so, I found the essenza base too sweet.
I really ought to have taken the hint that this range ain't for me.

I smell no mint (or jasmine) in the original. It's not at all what I hoped for.
I have a 100ml bottle of the original and I'm not quite sure what to do with it because swapping would require communicating and providing my address.
Not likely.
I REALLY don't want to use eBay to sell because it now requires you to grant full access and control of your bank account.
Never gonna happen.

Such regret.

Tried it on my best friend and, although he likes it, it didn't last on his skin, his skin "ate" it, so that's no use.
It is strong and relatively long lasting on me but I don't like it at all. Not because it's no good, but because it's not for me.

This is a review for the original formula. Anybody reviewing the latest/later versions is basically just writing about another scent.

Too citric, woody, too sweet. 💗🤞

tanaC

I used to have an old version with square oval one, I quite like it back then.
But can't not afford to buy full bottle.

Now during the journey, I rediscover this again with new bottle.
As I need a fragrance with Jasmine accord (remind me of my mother).
Then I discover that the Jasmine that I like is in this bottle as well.

However, this version is a bit less coiling than last one.
The scent is changed, Simplier and lighter a bit.

Opening, I didn't quite get the mint but strong fizzy lemon.
Before it turn to Jasmine along with other flower.
The strong sugary tone is slow reveal stronger as time pass by.
If their is cedar. It's extremely mild on skin.
Somehow the Skin Scent turn sporty on me.

for me this is extremely unisex (leans women a bit).
It's in line with most Fresh Fragrance but this one just have White Floral & Sweet tone.

I personally like pervious version more a bit.
As It's more strong than this one. but this is still not bad.
[On skin 06-07 hours / On Cloth 10 hours]

8/10 Dumb reach for hot day. :)
=====
Edit 1 - 13 December 2022

I can see a lot of people rate this as Feminine frag.
It has lustrously sweet undertone come from French labdanum and Brown sugar.
With that, it is sweeter than most traditional male perfume.

However, as the time progress, male fragrance become sweeter than it uses to be.
It feel likes this is Borderline of Femme-Unisex quality.
(I personally think Y by YSL is even sweeter than this)

If you are a male I would say try it, it's good.

miyawakiri

a very fresh, uplifting scent. i think i can really smell every single note in it. its very good but the citrus kinda smells like floral piss on me for some reason. i really hope its just the opening. i think ill probably use it in the gym or in summer.

shannfernando

This review is for the older bottle:

I so wanted to love this but, I couldn’t. I love tugs opening, so crisp, fresh and cooling. But when it starts to dry down something synthetic and overly sweet takes over and I cannot stand it. It ruins the perfume in all honesty.

I much prefer Air Di Gioia to this.

celestial

Pleasant fresh scent, which does not project at all on me. I could hardly smell anything after I sprayed it on myself. I tried it on a cold, rainy day, so maybe it develops differently in the summer :-)

XOXO_marcel

I agree with the member who described this as spa-like. Citrus and soft white florals. It isn't as "biting" as so many other citrus perfumes; Acqua di Gioia is smooth. This is so fresh, airy, and uplifting. It's not exciting or unique, but that doesn't matter. This will always be a tasteful choice.
It's soft, and smells very clean. Literally like walking into a room that was recently cleaned and sprayed, not today but yesterday.

HER30

Easy-reach fresh scent. I got a good sized mini and am surprised how much I keep using it for a good daytime fragrance in the heat. It reminds me of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche but I like this better. Lots of sweet citrus and jasmine. It's not super special to me, but is a safe fresh likeable fragrance. I've heard Ocean di Gioia is even better so will look for that.
UPDATE: I prefer ACQUA di Gioia to OCEAN di Gioia but they're similar. I now find this to feel dated and a bit boring though and gravitate towards Lust in Paradise by Ex Nihilo which gives off a similar fresh uplifting feminine vibe, but much more intriguing and modern IMO.

khoi0402

Have no idea why others say that they could smell nothing but bitter mint/citrus because this smells amazing on my skin. Defenitely I can get all the notes listed there, from fresh and sweet lemony minty top notes to sophisticated jasmine then dries down to woody and sugary sweet. I'm a man with a love for woody and spicy, leathery note but this is the only female fragrance that I had to purchase a full bottle after first sniff! Probably the one and only female-labed fragrance in my collection! It's more of a unisex in my opinion, and yes many people complimented how good I smell. My sister loves it too and bought a bottle after that!

autumngold

I adored this perfume in my early years, and it turns very lemon-aquatic on my skin, I hardly get any of the other notes after some time.

I don’t enjoy any of the other flankers, but this one was a nice shower fresh scent. Easy for office and daytime wear, not great for evening/date night. Not sexy by any means, but clean.

Yosa

So glad I got to test it today because this would have been an unsuccessful blind-buy! It comes off as very SPICY on my skin. Not like food spices, but more like ANIS. It could be the jasmine that creates this illusion? I love the smell of anis in real life but not in perfume... I understand this isn't how this perfume smells like to most people, so don't let this comment stop you from testing it! lol

ifffy

A fresh aquatic floral with a brown sugar punch that comes straight up from first spray. Its a great after shower scent on rainy days. jasmine is not so prominent, but the mint makes it feel cooling and refreshing along w the lemon.

cats_eye

Unisex spa-like smell. Very calming and tranquil. Lasts a long time and smells especially good sprayed in hair. I love the cedar note. Very crisp, cool and fresh. I'm usually more of an amber, woods and spice fan but this will always be in my collection.

papenburg

Best for summer, so long. Minty, sparkly, woodsy all above :)

Croatian.Girl

My safe choice for every summer for years... Smells somewhat sweet, fresh, citrusy, woody and minty. It has female unisex quality to me, works well with hot temperatures. Love it !!! :)

bengii

This is so pleasant for hot summer days. Mint and lemon gives it a refreshing vibe and brown sugar comes with a touch of sweetness.

Texasperumefan

First off, I am well aware that I did not spell perfume correctly in my username. I actually teach English. Fragrantica will not let me change it, I have already tried to change it several times.

Review: This is fresh, very fresh. True citrus fragrance. Smells a bit like mint/lemon tea. If you like that kind of smell you will like this. I get a lot of compliments from this fragrance. It lasts a very long time. Throughout the day it settles into a skin scent, it settles into a very strong sweet, creamy-ish scent. But not a heavy one, very light, still citrusy. This perfume is strong, but it smells very light, very refreshing. I love this. I wore it for my university graduation, and it lasted the entire day. I wear it to work often, since it is so inoffensive. I love this one, its easy to wear. If you are into that whole clean girl aesthetic, I feel like you would like this. It matches that style so perfectly. It is simply refreshing. That being said, if you are thinking about buying this, it is not a fragrance worth going crazy over. You do not need it right away, or in the largest size. Its a good summer fragrance, in the same vein as light blue. Citrusy, and refreshing, but you may find it a bit boring.

Lindsconn

This is such a beautiful calming green fragrance which is perfect for spring and summer days. This mainly gives off the lemon, mint and jasmine and is such an easy reach for a day when you don’t want a complicated fragrance.

Personally for me I think it’s quite overpriced as I find this doesn’t project well at all. But if you’re into very subtle scents you can’t go wrong with this

realitygreene

I cannot believe I have never tried this fragrance before today. I really enjoy it. Acqua di Gioia isn't necessarily groundbreaking or unique, but I think it certainly has a place in my collection (too bad I just have a sample!). I like how fresh it is without being too beachy/sunscreen. I adore the mint in here as well. This is great. I would love a bottle of this fragrance!

astralmonad870

This is one of the first perfumes I ever bought. I love the fruity citrus scent, which is bright and uplifting. I also gifted a sample to my partner. I wish a 100 mL bottle was more affordable but I've been able to get this perfume at a discount.

ekrapf

I bought a small vial sample of this to try, but have only applied it once so far. Upon first spray on my skin, I was slightly reminded of Chanel chance eau tendre, the pink bottle. The middle note was sour which scared me away from sniffing for a few minutes, and then the dry down was aromatic, unisex, with an kind of oceany air scent. The dry down reminded me of a late 2000s perfume I used to have back then from either Abercrombie or Hollister. I don’t pick up on any citrus or green notes listed above. I think this is generally a safe blind buy… I haven’t decided just yet if I like it enough to buy a bottle.

Naqwalan

Everytime I wear this perfume, I think of the music that featured in the commercial that first came out in 2010: 'Arrival of the Birds by the Cinematic Orchestra'. I adore that piece of music, and I must admit it is what drew me to this perfume.

Acqua di Gioia smells like a sweet mojito and truly makes me think of a lush far-away island. The lemon note isn't too strong like in other citrus perfumes. Overall a fresh, aquatic sweetness that I find perfect for the summer.

SmellLush

I’ve watched a lot of reviews and bought the travel size for the summer. Very pretty yt also reminds me of opening magazines in the 90s for some reason. A good memory but not sure why that’s the memory it triggers. Fresh and pretty.

CamillaAre

I get notes of mint and cucumber/watermelon and something aquatic. The cucumber/watermelon smell is not really for me, but I don´t think it will be offensive to anyone else. The lemon is very subtle (at least in comparison to Light Blue Intense where I think the lemon is a cleaning spray).
I tested this as mini bottle from a giftset and the experience is not really the same without the atomizer, so it’s a bit difficult to say something about the silage. After a few hours it gets a bit sweeter but then its only a skin scent.

Maryam_NN

It smells like a sweet drink with fresh slices of cucumber, mint leaves and flower juice that I would want to have on a spring or summer day.
In Iran we have cold drinks with flower juice (you can find shops that only sell different flower/plant juices). I don't live in Iran anymore, and when I make those kinds of drinks for my friends here in Germany, they tell me that they feel like they are drinking perfumes!

yeesa_

Too strong for me Im sure if I over sprayed this id give myself a headache. Also smells kind of dirty on my skin. Lasted about an hour before turning into a skin scent

Allegoria

Oh, this is beautiful! I tried it on in the store & went home to order the box set with lotion.

My first thought on leaving the house this morning, smelling of Aqua di Gioia, was that I’d love a vacation to a warm tropical destination and I’d take this fragrance with me. I can just picture the woman wearing this Armani fragrance walking into a chaotic airport scene, only to have the crowd part as she strolls confidently through the airport in her comfortable attire, pulling a single bag, and an invisible sign above her (that only some can see) that says “Stay Calm, Be Happy”. And this comforting fragrance wafting around her.

That’s what this fragrance says to me. How I’m loving the search for summer fragrances. Especially when I only wore Light Blue in the heat of the summer for many years.

Although I’ve never had the pleasure of smelling ‘water jasmine’ in person, this sweet soft floral smell could not be more aptly named. As there is a real aqua freshness here.

PS: I’ve had it on for a couple of hours, and a stranger just passed by and said, “Wow, you smell good”. So……. Just sayin……

LuluBear

Pleasant fragrance. It starts off very citrusy on me, and then it dries down to a nice innofensive fresh scent. My only complaint is the longevity. I sprayed this on at 11:30am (5 sprays), and 40 minutes later it was nothing but a very faint skin scent. I had to press my nose against my skin to smell it. As fresh and pretty as this is, I just can't justify the price personally.

chelseet

Sigh. This must have been reformulated. I had this back in 2011/2012, and I just bought it today and yeah it doesn’t smell the same. And the scent is so weak. 😞

Sully92

This is so pretty! I usually steer clear of lemon fragrances because they tend to smell like a cleaning product on me but the mint and brown sugar prevent that with this one. I also tend to get headaches from jasmine but it's very light here so white floral haters will still probably enjoy this fragrance.
I love to wear this when I'm feeling under the weather because while it has sweetness it's not heavy or cloying and of course it's also perfect for hot summer days.
It has just enough projection for others to smell if on you but it's not beastly and it's not going to choke you out on hot days.
Longevity is around 6 hours which is decent for a freshie.
This is an easy reach, perfect for any situation. I will always have a bottle in my collection.

stardenise16

I have adored Acqua di Gioia since my mom introduced me to it when I was younger. So crisp and refreshing for the warmer weather.

kanikanik

It's refreshing and light, but not generic. It's lovely, and quite feminine.

I definitely get the mint - it's a friendly mint, cushy, subtle, and sweet.

I also understand why people call it citrusy, but that's not what came to my mind before reading the notes list. I usually think of lemon fragrances as being sharp and tangy, like the crushed leaves of a lemon tree or zesting the rind. The lemon in this fragrance is juicier, flavorful but a bit watered down, and very sweet, like lemonade.

What came to my mind, and still comes to mind even after reading the notes pyramid, is a sweet, fragrant, cold green melon. It must be a combination of some other notes; I have no other explanation ...

tashfiamamun

like an icy glass of mojito on a hot summer day. Its so beautiful and refreshing, defines summer for me

Lykopa

Wonderful. I took this on my trip to Italy with me, so of course it reminds me of that. It is beautifully blended and the mint, lemon, and brown sugar really stand out. Unfortunately, the bottle is a little hard to hold and the longevity is close to nothing. However, the scent itself completely makes up for it. I bought this not even a month ago and I’m already a third of the way through the bottle! Absolutely gorgeous scent.

nathalie87

The best summer scent for me! Very fresh! But has depth and longevity, i dont get bored of it like i do with many other freshies, i love labdanum so maybe that makes it more interesting to me, altough i cant really pic out the labdanum in the scent but i think its the note that gives this perfume depth and balance out the freshness, it grounds the fragrance. All the notes in this perfume really smells so great together! In my opinion this is a masterpice of a summer fragrance but it can abselutely be used all year round. Have to say i liked the old bottledesign better, but the scent is the same, i think?

josie1062

So fresh and clean! Literally smells like a coastal Italian vacation. This is sunshine in a bottle. Everyone I know that has smelled this tells me it's their favorite scent I own. I just wish it lasted longer and has a better projection.

abbieclark67

Such a citrusy, floral and sweet fragrance with a pinch of spiciness that balances everything out. It's such a refreshing fragrance as the combination of the lemon and the mint give vibes of a mojito at the beach in Ibiza ;)

Badienne

I love this! I don't know how I've been ignoring this fragrance for such a long time. I sprayed it at the store earlier and I fell in love. It lasted 4 hours on my skin and for something fresh, I must the lasting power is impressive. To me this smells like a very bright fresh candy perfume. Definitely watermelon. It's very aquatic and it makes you feel fresh. I can't wait to get a bottle of this.

Park.K.Bae

Bright and lovely. The lemon is tart and juicy, and the peony-jasmine combo dominates on my skin. The mint disappeared within 3 minutes. I can catch whiffs of something green from the mint, but it smells more like garden plants than cool mint. It's lacking something. I wish there was something a little sharper or sweeter in it. It's inoffensive. Overall, this is a very clean scent, simple but refreshing. I would pull this out on the hottest of summer days. It lasts 6 to 7 hours on me. I purchased my bottle from the Armani beauty site.

ShadowCliff

I'd sample smelled it for years whenever I stopped in a Sephora or Ulta. Always enjoyed but it didn't jump out at me. However, finding something you like shouldn't be underrated. I think this was the first time I gave my wrist a decent spritz, and bought a small bottle. Loving it so far!

Laurenhenry

This is a beautiful fragrance. Acqua di Gio is my favorite cologne so I was very excited to try this one out. I never heard of it until I was at sephora looking for a new summer fragrence. This was the last one I tested and it was an instant hit! I first noticed a very nice nectarine smell which is one of my favorite notes. The freshness of it was perfect and the mint in it was refreshing but not overpowering. This is a nice refreshing fragrance that's perfect for the summer months. It's definitely my new favorite

typeonegative333

I was reluctant to try this due to the reformulation, but it's very pleasant and zesty. Lemon, jasmine and peony with an undertone of cedar. I love wearing this on hot days, it adds an ultra-fresh feel. This will be a staple in my collection for sure, 10/10.

cadentsun

I went on a bit of a sweaty mall crawl today (dry California suburb, mid-June, sunny Saturday afternoon, school's out, long weekend for some, go figure), and this perfume was an absolute treat to sample in the aftermath. Had me fantasizing about a shower, spa towels, a fresh change of clothes, white linens, opening all the windows and cooling down with a cheeky chilled drink as the sun sets and the evening breeze picks up. Shaded summer cabin and vacation-esque; this would be fun to pick up on a trip or at the airport.

As others have mentioned, very mojito-like, especially with the sugar note. I find that the citrus and aromatics temper the sweetness nicely. The florals–namely peony– can read soapy, but that's what I like during this season anyway.

Edit/hot tip: Armani Beauty routinely does 40-50% off "Timeless Beauty" sales on their site, so sign up for their emails if you want, say, the 3-piece gift set for an even greater value. There is one going on as of 6/21/22.

Catty

I stayed the whole day under 35 degrees in the lake doing water sports. I just came home and after a cold shower, I sprayed this all over the body and Godddddddd...this is so beautifully refreshing. The mint gives a touch such like a icy watery splash in it, with this tinge of sugar makes this delicious. Very ooriginal! ´cause it´s not the typical bergamot-lemon citrus scent. The combo mint-brown sugar gives it a very unique personality. Performance is good (6-7 hours). I receive many compliments from my workmates. An unique green-aromatic scent!

kkdaauthor

I owned this fragrance and quite frankly, I loved it! It smelt green and fresh, almost like an open field. It’s not a fragrance that you can ever get sick of. It can also smell like a fresh, green cocktail depending on the season! It’s definitely not my favorite fragrance of the di gioia line but I still recommend it to people from time to time.

lynn415

I tried a sample of this awhile back and remember it not being too bad. I sprayed some on today (1 spray) and it’s just not it. On me it is pulling very floral, cheap, and headache inducing. My sister in law has worn it around a lot and it always smells fantastic and fresh on her.

Eveningrose

First of all, the scent is BEAUTIFUL AND FRESH. This is what I imagine a sunny day in the Almafi Coast to smell like. The disappointment comes with the performance of this scent . It doesn’t last at all. I will keep for the scent and layer it but will not repurchase! Not worth the price ! A better alternative is Calvin Klein CK in2u for her!

AquaBaby5

I remember trying this back in high school when it launched. It was probably in a Sephora that I tried it on. It was so strong back then that it gave me a near-instant headache and I hadn’t tried it again until receiving a sample vial in a sample bundle I bought just recently, 12 years later. I was tempted to pass it along immediately but thought better of it. It is SO much weaker now, and no threat of headache. Good and bad I guess. I ended up spraying half the vial over the course of the day today due to the poor lasting power, it was as bad as Givenchy Irresistible but at least my husband commented on that one at some point. I am not generally a fan of aquatics but I do like this generally. I think I am a fan mostly of the mint and florals, and I’m also a sucker for the labdanum in the base. Fun to try again but not FBW.

firstmate423

I LOVE the mint in this. I agree it reminds me of a mojito. Perfect for when you just want to feel fresh and clean. I have plenty of sweet, fruity, floral, gourmands, etc., but sometimes I’m just in the mood to smell fresh and clean and this is perfect.

ScentFairy

Soapy fresh, but with a slight hint of sweetness. A bit too generic for my taste.
