Armani Eau Pour Homme (new) by Giorgio Armani is a Citrus Aromatic fragrance for men. Armani Eau Pour Homme (new) was launched in 2013. Top notes are Bergamot, Mandarin Orange and Basil; middle notes are Cloves, Nutmeg and Lily; base notes are Oakmoss, Sandalwood and Patchouli.

Fashion house Armani presented its first masculine fragrance Eau Pour Homme in 1984. Sharp, strong, citrusy and aromatic, this one has become a classic among men's fragrances. Almost 30 years later, in February the 2013, Armani launches a new version of Eau Pour Homme and a brand new nocturnal edition Eau de Nuit.

New Eau Pour Homme apparently did not change much. The bottle design is updated and the composition is adapted with ingredients that are available today. The top is ruled by fresh citruses like bergamot and mandarin, along with aromatic basil. The heart of clove, lily and nutmeg is laid on the base of patchouli, oak moss and sandalwood.

British violinist Charlie Siem and Italian photographer (son of Italian Vogue editor in chief Franca Sozzani) Francesco Carrozzini are chosen as the models for the new fragrances. The fragrances are available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

This is a shame of a fragrance. The original pour homme that Armani canned in 2008 was a masterpiece. This is a watered down shell of that, barely projects or lasts. Doesnt smell high quality at all, which is what Armani is now with their ADG flankers and reforms. Just smells like fancier axe spray that boys in locker rooms overspray.

gorin

This is fucking GREAT
Very underrated
My 2nd favourite for summer/office days.

Opening is a nice citrus, but it fades very quickly
To a subtle and smooth fragrant forest; fresh spices and gentle wood

Seriously good shit.
Doesn't last very long though. Moisturise the area and apply to clothes :)
My girlfriend doesn't like it, so it's potentially not sexy enough to wear on dates

Spasticink

Herbal, classic and spicy scent. It's actually cloves and nutmeg bomb. To be honest I prefer Dior Eau Sauvage or Chanel Pour Monsieur as those are better blended in that old-fashioned style and I am personally not a big fan of that amount of cloves note in perfumes.
Still nice classic cologne

clintjr82

The original GQ barbershop scent , front page style. Elegant. Intriguing. The scent is very potent but weak at the same time. Shame on the performance. This is classic in vein of the original as far as the scent goes . This , gucci envy, and Bvlgari Blv were my top go to dress scents. To bad the performance sucks.

Anzar Shah

Beautiful old fashioned fresh citrusy and spicy scent.

Thomaso7

this scent is not discontinued, I saw it on the shelves in Austria and Germany within the past week.

Guapo

How is it possible that they have taken the decision to discontinue this excellent perfume, a symbol of the brand itself?
These boys and girls in the marketing departments are destroying icons that accompany generations.
Shame on you, Armani!

DichterundDenker

A really nice scent. This perfume is very underrated. It smells like the warm hills of Italy near Lago di Garda.

The oak moss is rather tame. I like such scents. Not too sharp but perfectly balanced. In addition, AEPH has a nice creaminess.

A perfect summer scent!

Louismanuel

Just finished my bottle last week. Classic beauty, although not very potent.

Vikingtop

A rather flowery and bit spicy barbershop scent.

A fresh shaved Gentleman in suit and shirt strolling throug Milan...

Docplaya

It's a nice citrus aromatic fragrance with a fresh dose of spiciness. Decent projection and longevity for this type of scent profile.

Thomaso7

a tart green lemony citrus fragrance for the most part, slight floral and spice coming in behind it.
smells nice, pleasant.
I believe I remember Armani listed
California green lemon, lily, and patchouli as ingredients

albanboittiaux

ROUSAK

Very nice simple cheerful citrus cologne with a twist. Best for office. Last only 2-4 hours. 7.5/10

kingderella

Gentleman citrus. It's nice but Eau Sauvage is better.

Dadmehr

Its similar to dior eau Sauvage, really pleasant and uplifting, its edt so to not expect much of a performance, it has a good Sillage but not a good longevity which is ok as an Edt. Scent DNA is very nice. I'm getting fresh bergamot, basil and okmoss plus vetiver out of it.

MathieuBekaert

Classic, allround And timeless!
It is a nice, sharp and elegant scent!
I do get a lot of compliments when I’m wearing this! Especially in summer, on hot days this one does a good job.

It does not hold that long but just take a travelcase with you!

You should have a bottle of this on your shelve, to wear, layer, create!

The new formula and bottle, while missing oak moss in the ingredients, has improved performance, duration and overall rendition. The rework done here witnessed how there may still be IFRA-compliant fragrances not completely shattered. This is easily a candidate for “best of” ‘80es compositions, along with Versace L’Homme. Let’s hope it will not get discontinued. Never, as it is clearly “larger than life”.

Luxfare

So this has since been removed from the Armani website......it's almost certainly becoming discontinued. Another quality scent gone.

PS: It's been taken off the US and UK website but not the international one so it's likely to be DD in those two markets

gugavikz

I would drink this as a gin tonic had I been out of money to buy booze. Fantastic nose for a very smooth gin and tonic, or a mildly spiced vodka and herbs.

sergiuniculescu

@chrisk252, maybe is discontinued on the US market. On the official armanibeauty.it is available.

chrisk252

FYI, Armani has confirmed by email that this has been discontinued...very sad. Stock up!

WGG

This and Eau Sauvage are benchmark citrus scents, can't go wrong really but do expect to re-spray. Those hungry for extrait strength could try the clone houses, some examples are very good. In high heat or indoors the subtlety of Armani EDP is welcome but a bit rich at £80 for 100ml.
3.5/5

Luxfare

It’s becoming a little dated yes but it’s still my favourite scent of all time. Opens with a strong bitter citrus and mellows down to a fresh soapy scent. The reformulation isn’t as good as the one with the black base but it’s still a wonderful clean, crisp, citrusy masterpiece….like Azzaro Pour homme but better

3Storms

I love this scent. It's a rare citrus that's fine for all seasons. The nutmeg and clove notes really help it achieve year-round versatility. It's suit-and-tie, not casual.

My only complaint is I wish Armani would step it up and make it as an Eau De Parfum instead of a toilette. Sure the toilette projects better, but the longevity is awful, and when considering the price for a bottle, it really should be an EDP. It's Armani's signature male fragrance, so you'd figure they'd step it up to make it more high-end instead of producing it as the weakest cheapest form of fragrance possible in a toilette.

2020.09 batch
Wow! Just wow! This is what I call a perfect spring/summer fragrance! Pure elegance, pure Italian style. Great longevity, still a skin scent after 12h if you stick the nose on your skin. Not to much projection but is lingering around you even after 5h. Dressed up with a white shirt and a linen jacket, this make you feel like a billionaire.

JupiterMoon

Classy and well-made. But I bought a sample of this and the dry down was nice, smooth and creamy and it lingered. So I bought the 100ml bottle but then the dry down on that wasn't as strong. There wasn't that creaminess and warmth as much anymore, I'm not sure why. It was mainly the citrus opening without the dry down strength I liked. But the citrus is high-quality and a great scent. It made me curious about the original formulation and I would be curious to try that, to see if it has that special thing that I liked.

cvaile

While this and Eau Sauvage are quite similar - the much stronger, leafier basil and prominent clove in this really distinguish the two, making this a more rounded scent in the opening and mid. They resemble each other the most once they are skin scents.

Overall this is distinctly a greener, darker and creamier/spicer scent thanks to the clove and nutmeg. Eau Sauvage is much more of a straight up citrus-aromatic than this one is.

Ironically, as this one has its own Nuit flanker, this itself would make a fine Nuit flanker to Eau Sauvage.

jamesnash

...sampling contemporary version for first time today...apparently greatly simplified ingredients list...still, wish they’d left out cloves and nutmeg which i much prefer in a hot-buttered rum...

fbls_llmas

This is my first classic barbershop style fragrance. Wow, I'm amazed by my discovery. It reminded me of ADP essenza which I also love. I hate its opening as there is something harsh and synthetic citruses, after it settles down it turns into a soapy scent with moderate projection in the first few hours. I think it's best to be worn in casual, summer holiday, white t-shirt wearing sunglasses. Although, I find it very versatile. I believe that men with any age can rock this.

Chanel de Lanvin

I wore it at the time and it was fantastic for its outfit for an eau de toilette, very original with a lemon that stood out with its contemporaries.
Unfortunately since its reformulation (like many other perfumes) it is not the same at all, I have turned the page.

sp00kie

I never did understand why I read a lot of reviews that refer to the opening as lemon. It isn't lemon. Nor is it your typical citrus. It is sour and citrus-like and is the most polarizing aspect of this fragrance. Depending on the weather, the opening can feel harsh but also refreshing and compelling. The dry-down is very different - smooth, clean, and warm in a disarming, friendly way. I would test this on skin before buying it a couple of times just to make sure the opening is to your liking so I do not recommend it as a blind buy. I used to own the original and without having them side by side, this feels very similar to it. Although I do feel like the original was more clearly lemony, probably slightly less polarizing and had better performance.

ManiacalPope

Idk if it's my skin chemistry or something but this is feminine to me til its settled then its neutral. I get really strong candyish lemon smell at the start, tbh it makes me think of froot loops. Then there's orange and a really strong creamy flowery smell i guess lily by the notes. After it's all settled though to me it smells like if you were out in the woods and for some reason there was a bar of gold dial soap really close. I really love this stuff and've been wearing it a lot

sasa.ss

Spiritual fragrance.

Opening notes perfectly impersonate fresh and serious atmosphere of an old Orthodox Christian church.

Dry down transforms into scent of freshly washed hands.

ÔParfum!

Don Corleone in a bottle.

To me, the scent itself represents manliness better than any frangrances. Really. Unfortunately, so weak. What a pity, a colossus with feet of clay.

If Armani creators boost it a little bit to make it in a higher concentration, it will be (easily) THE best male fragrance of all time !

pronose

Great fresh & timeless scent for summer! But i prefer the vintage version! This scent has been much inspired by Capucci pour homme!

Janis74

I had this cologne twice and it does smell great..

I just wish it was stronger and a longer longevity, but I think I'll buy it again..

It smells wonderful 😊

marcel2782

After the initial explosion where sour bergamot prevails, the heart chord is a creamy and white soap (congrats lily) but dated and with only a remote imaginary mention of tangerine, added interesting and sensitive touches (and a little strange) of basil and moss. And that's it, there's nothing else. Now, if NEW has this OLD smell, imagine the oldest one from 1984. Big pass. It is necessary to go crazy in the sprays for the silage to pass 45 mins.

Dellamorte

I love it. Maybe my new signature scent. Not for teenagers but a great choice for anyone over 30. The scent is manly and addictive, the most beautiful barbershop smell with a modern twist. Longevity issues are present. Can't detect it after 3-4 hours. Maybe others can. Time will show.

irawan.johan

We need EDP/ Parfum version of this !!

randika_g

I'm 33 and I think this is one of the best old school citrus fragrances suitable for modern times since the blend of citrus, oakmoss and spices is perfectly balanced. I'd actually vote it above Dior's Eau Sauvage which is considered by many as the king in this genre. To my nose this smells "more natural" than Eau Sauvage. The oak moss is subdued here so it doesn't smell too dated but it's definitely present.

Best times of application would be during Summer daytime but it could be rocked during summer nights too. The scent can be worn dressed up or down and would make a great office scent as well as a great vacation scent (i.e. great versatility).

Projection is moderate and longevity is around 5-6 hours as long as you manage to get some on your clothing as well.

A lot of reviews here say this is a scent for the 40+ crowd but I disagree. This can be rocked if you're 25+ (if you're a fan of this scent profile). I'm currently on my 2nd bottle which is the new formulation and it's very similar to the older formulation which was my 1st bottle.

Overall Rating: 8/10

P.S - Maison Margiela's At the Barbers is a great scent to layer this with

Andy the Frenchy

An old but timeless citrus aromatic fragrance, that will fit perfectly 40+ men.

While most of its contemporaneous fragrances are now available at discounter prices, this one surprisingly still retails for ~$80 (but that is apparently a price policy valid for all Armani fragrances, with AdG that still retails for ~$60, without any valid reason other than marketing). Would go for a full bottle, but this price tag may be a little steep for just occasional use. Will wait a bit that prices go down.

I recently acquired a bottle a couple of months ago (I did have an original bottle back in the 80's that got lost the. moving) and after several wearings I just can not get this brilliant fragrance out of my mind. It s very versatile, and long lasting (not beast mode though) and gets me through the day. If I wear it for the evening, then it will last until I shower. Out of the ingredients, the main players are the citrus & oak moss. What a brilliant smell. This is more for the mature person, but if a 21 year plus old person was wearing it, they would probably pull a lot of attention and asked may times what they are wearing. After you apply this fragrance, you will also get the super high class freshly groomed feeling. Women adore this smell.
This makes you feel like a mature VIP that is serious, but also has a playful side to him also. To my nose, there is not a lot of difference to the original formulation. Armani have done a great job of retaining the original creation without using a lot of synthetics. This new formula smells just as natural as the original. I am surely going to obtain a couple of back up bottles, just in case it does get reformulated in the near future.

Louismanuel

Most people here comment about citrus, citrus, citrus and lemon. Often compared to Eau Sauvage, which is a citrus bomb. Armani Eau pour Homme however is dominated by Mandarin, Orange and Bergamot. This may also be a citrus Aromatic but is nothing like Eau Sauvage, which is far more acid than Armani.
Armani is smoother.

It has very little from 4711 and nothing from Azzaro or Aramis Tuscany like Simon26 claims.
If I had to compare it it would be more like Chanel pour Monsieur but the scent is much better. Addictive.
Unfortunately it has a moderate projection and longevity.

Years ago I first tested this one in Portugal during Summer holidays. I loved it from the first spray but knew I could buy it for far cheaper on Internet back home. Every night before dinner I would enter the parfum store and spray my backhand for a full week. I bought it the day after I returned from Holidays.

kaurg

A nice simple old school citrus cologne to give that clean white shirt feeling. The opening is more similar to Acqua di Parma Colonia than Eau Sauvage, the latter having more green herbal components. Drydown reminds me of Chanel Pour Monsieur.

Simon26

What I get from Armani Eau Pour Homme (1984) is a polite mixture of 3/4 Dior Eau Sauvage and 1/4 Azzaro Pour Homme. There's a lemon-like opening, and a pleasant dry down that offers a refreshing antidote to the incense-heavy orientals and musky fougeres of the 80s.
However, compared to contemporary warm-weather men's fragrances, I find that Armani Eau Pour Homme is just not that competitive. Its a nice enough fragrance but smelling it makes me crave for something much fresher, something like Armani's 1996 masterpiece, Acqua di Gio.

If you're a fan of 4711 Eau de Cologne, Dior Eau Sauvage, Azzaro Pour Homme, or Aramis Tuscany Per Uomo, you might enjoy Armani Eau Pour Homme.

clintjr82

It’s great, but falls short because of the longevity. But not as great as the original. It’s powerful on an initial spray. Barber shop scent. It’s has a super fresh Citrus nutmeg cloves scent. Clean fresh and spicy. If I can’t find the original 80s scent, I will buy his one. A Very masculine crisp and irish spring scent

Registeralloveragain

I have the vintage, it’s beautiful bright natural citrus with clove and herbs

justchillinxo

Kind of wish i liked eau sauvage more because i like its bottle better. But alas, this one is less sweet and better balanced to my nose.

irfanabuhadi.1

A very mature throwback fragrance in the category of what we may call "soapy" fragrances. Similar fragrance of this class are Devidoff zino, Darby club house by Armaf and classic green Bruite etc.
This fragrance opens with zesty basil notes which gives it its classic freshness. Then it gradually transforms into a heavy patchouli and sandlewood base which lasts 4 to 5 hours in a fall or winter season.
It is most suitable as an after shower puff or a lazy evening night out wear. I will not recommend it as a casual official wear due to it very casual base notes.

Luna_J

As a big fan of Eau Sauvage, I never really considered buying this, but a while ago found a vintage mini in a thrift shop and was really delighted by how fresh the bergamot, 'green' lemon (as Thomaso7 below rightly puts it), neroli and orange...a truly happy opening. I love Eau Sauvage, but sometimes it feels a bit serious; this seemed just as brilliantly fresh and herbal, but a bit more uplifting (in a laid back kind of way) in the opening, which is really saying something. I find myself recalling it the next day with the usual poignant craving for a lost summer, but where Eau Sauvage is sort of sailboats and garden parties, this is more tennis courts and poolside reading, whatever than means...

Today I tried the current version and was not disappointed... It still has a marvelous array of citrus notes, with a really balmy, sunny mandarin orange essence that lingers into the drydown. The notable hints of nutmeg and lily setting it apart a bit from Dior's composition. It is pretty light wearing (I find a sturdier vetiver base in the current Eau Sauvage), and seems to fade to a fairly low volume by hour 4 or 5, but that is somewhat the nature of the beast; it certainly still fits the bill of delivering an authentic eau de cologne vibe with a bit more legs than typical exemplars of that fabled genre usually provide. I would ideally have this right alongside Eau Sauvage for wearing in warm weather, as I'm starting to think a person can never have to many eaux, all somehow facets of that one, unattainable breeze from the Mediterranean lemon grove...

Midnight Lady

What a bergamot splash in the opening. It develops nicely - oakmoss and mandarin orange spiced up by a little bit of cloves, basil ans nutmeg.

This is a proper fougere. Ultra masculine, mature, fresh, clean, spicy, sexy.

8/10

machoscent

A very nice masculine smell, barbershop type of smell for real males. The only downside on this one is the longevity, especially if you live in a hot country then it would evaporate very quickly. However the scent is wonderful.

Oldspice

Armani Eau Pour Homme gets my approval. I've never smelled the original juice so I'm reviewing this on its own.

At first I didn't like the herbal basil blast in the opening but it settles down quickly. The citrus in the opening is nice. It's been a while since I've tried Eau Sauvage but I remember that one being more timeless and something any age group could pull off. Armani feels more of a mature/classic type. Seems like something that can be worn year round.

I get pretty good performance with about 5 sprays, lasts 6-8 hours with a little lingering on clothes after that.

smellyoul8ter

I like many of Armani’s scents. Unfortunately this classic scent doesn’t do anything good for me. On my skin, this smells like pine cleaner straight from a mop bucket. I feel like I have smelled this on older men in a nursing home. Sorry for the bad impression but this one is a scrubber for me. I must be too young for it. I would suggest you only buy if your chemistry can handle a mature and classic scent.

3/10

Philosophy.and.Fragrance

Are you looking for something similar to Dior Eau Sauvage EDT but stronger like vintage Eau Sauvage? this is the choice! it is a great scent.

Crowleysviles

This is a great lemon cologne it goes to show Armani has been about the fresh accords since day one. It doesn’t have any of the 80s urinal cake smell or really any dated notes typical of 80s masculine frags. Maybe subtly reminiscent of a citrusy deodorant but not overly so

knoxknoll777

I really like this but wished it lasted a bit longer. I get only 4 pushing 5 hours with this one. It also becomes a skin scent rather quickly as well. Funny I said I really liked this but keep pointing out the negatives...

3.5/5

LesBonbon

This one smells like Creed Royal Water.

Ulriben

A manly summer fragrance. I'm tired of all the synthetic, Justin Bieber scents.

Thomaso7

Smells like green lemon. not too strong, but does last a while. a perfect scent for office wear I think, and most definitely I think for the summer or spring, or a warm climate. Having so many strong scents, I wanted one like this.
There are some nuances of floral - lily? giving a little bit of thickness, some light spices.
I smellt it before, but it was warmer weather and I could smell patchouli after the citrus green opening.
Right now I smell green lemon, maybe petit grain which smells fresh springtime and very green - maybe a little sharp, that floral lily scent thickening it, and a tangy-ness which awakens the senses. There must be some light musk in this too.
It's a little expensive.
overall I could equivilate it to smell similar to a green lemonade.
This is Armani's Eau, so it must be their eau du cologne.

Thomaso7

I smelled this scent recently at the duty free in LAX airport.
Wonderful scent! it is a type of lemony, but has a spicy edge and a type of sexyness throughout. maybe it is lily and some musk. It even has a bit of powder in it. patchouli too.
Armani code seems to have a similar spiciness that's in this.
This is classy, but not outdated.
This is a bit of a mature and dressy scent, but is more youthful and a bit more timeless than something like Aramis for example.

Jack_Hunter

The last time I tried this was in 2012 and it was the previous formulation and I was very disappointed as I love the original 1984 version. I got a blast of lemon that seemed to fade after 30 min and was gone on my skin within the hour.

Well fast forward to the present day and I became aware of the new formulation which came out in 2013 I believe. So taking a gamble as I always loved the original back in the Eighties I purchased this blind hoping for the best.

Well after a few sprays I get the beautiful citrus burst interwoven with neroli and some light spice and moss. It lasts on my skin for about four hours with moderate projection and still hangs around for a few hours more but more close to my skin. I'm quite happy as the previous formulation only lasted a hour on my skin.

It's more closer to what I remember the original to be though with less moss though the new one does seem to be brighter/fresher. It's still a light fragrance but the magic for me is back as the previous formulation just seemed to be way off and too short lasting. Happy days!

iwhiffwaft

Really high quality Citrus up top and this is a top heavy fragrance. Not at all like other powerhouse fragrances. This shouldn't be classified as such. It's much more in the vein of Eau'd Hadrien, Cappucci, Acqua Di Parma, to my nose. However, there's spice underneath, but I'd still contend this is a citrus fragrance, light on the spice. Something about the hints of spice give this fragrance a class/style type feel that it seems Armani pulls off without equal. This is a Ferrari, a Lamborgini, just awesome Italian style and perfectly sleek. I know when I wear this, any occasion, I smell like a Ferrari looks. Honestly, this is the best Armani Fragrance, hands down, in my opinion, and one of the best all around summer go to's ever.

mm83

what a shame i never wrote a review on one of my most go to summer scents.
i have a certain history behind how i found this scent.
i was visiting states when my uncle called me from india and asked me to get this bottle for him as he use to wear the old version and someone recently wearing this reminded him of his good old days.
i had tested this before and found it generic for my use so i did not bother to buy a bottle for my use. however this juice smelled terrific on him during the high humid summers of india. i came back from india and started to crave for this scent and could not find a bottle in my local market. well after few attempts i finally found a 50ml bottle which i used religiously throughout summers and did not even bother to look at any of my other colognes. i used it so much that i started thinking of giving away all my other bottles lol.. thankfully winters started and i kept it at the back of the shelf and now im waiting for that scorching heat to hit back so i can wear my gem again

trublu72

Pretty close to the original I think, and I love this one too. One of the few 80's powerhouse fragrances that has in my opinion stood the test of time. Maybe because it is a little lighter than some of the others. I do understand that some people think it is an older mans scent as it probably is. It is so well made a real classic from Armani.

Great fragrance!

NGR2266

This is difficult to comment on. It's a citrus infused mature fragrance, in laments terms. It definitely appeals more to a mature demographic but works well in that. It was the first fragrance that I got my hands on and it's what prompted me to invest myself more into this fragrance game. It's a sophisticated and good fragrance, good sillage and performance. Would not say that this is a blind buy, but it's something worth checking out at the store if given the chance. Good luck!

Bermuda bliss

My husband choose this for himself........this smells amazing!!

One of my first frags, and still is in my collection !
Classic cologne !

GMH

Out of the classic citrus fragrances such as this, YSL pour home, Eau sauvage etc. Armani eau pour homme came out as the best. With YSL, I found this a bit dated, sharp, strong and 70's smelling whilst I found Eau sauvage's citrus notes to die too quickly on my skin. However Armani eau pour home seemed to hit the right balance. I also am not disappointed by this 2013 reformulation and find it very similar to how I remember the original. Usually for me reformulations generally disappoint but this is still great. This seems to project better on me than the original did even though I cannot imagine that this is a better projecting fragrance than the 1984 original formulation for most people, may just be my skin chemistry. I still would liken this to a breeze of warm coastal Italian air that had blown through a citrus grove and mingled amongst cypress trees in the hills, the same comparison as I reviewed the original fragrance. This has a bit of noticeable but gentle spice in the background that is probably the nutmeg. The original had a similar spice but from memory came out more clove like to me and made it smell a bit too old for me at the time whilst I didn't detect this in this current reformulation. Unlike the original I received positive feedback with this version with one person saying it smelled gorgeous and expensive and someone else asking me if it was Acqua di Parma, which I've always liked also. I could imagine Gordon Gekko wearing this fragrance in the 80's or a stylishly dressed man in an Italian suit. Definitely best for summer but could hold it's own in early autumn/fall, I also like this for daywear but has a bit of complexity for a summer evening if you vary the sprays. Would make a good special occasion summer fragrance for someone looking for something a bit less generic. Maybe not suitable for under 25's, depending on personal taste, would recommend it as a must try.

Guerlain has plenty of classic citrus scents - Eau de Cologne Imperiale, Eau de Guerlain, Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde, and the now discontinued Aqua Allegoria Lemon Fresca, to name a few.

Yves Sait Laurent also has an offering - Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme, since reformulated for La Collection.

Hope that helps!

@MSp... That's hilarious! He also came up with the Trump/Russia Conspiracy Theory!

WATCH OUT !! The BLACK BASE is the original, which has been discontinued. The SILVER BASE is the synthetic copy, which does not even come close to the original after the dry down. It smells .. synthetic, that's all.

i have got dior eau sauvage, versace L'homme, pr pour homme, edition blanche, ck summer '15...and i thought i have had enough of lemon citrus bottles for summer, but when i smelled this out of the four eau collection, i was just mesmerized.its like you hear some beautiful piece of violin or jazz music and it makes your whole body feel loved....you close your eyes and just feel like you are in heaven...thats the kind of feel i got from this bottle.other bottles i have are my faves too, esp paco rabanne and eau sauvage, but this is something else.i dont care if the reformulation is weaker and lasts less, it has to be in my collection. and as far as old man's cologne.....im 35 and i always liked stuff that smelled manly, old spice and fahrenheit to say the least....we all have different choices, i respect everyone...but those people who say this frag is grandpa....you guys r just kids, someday you will grow up n appreciate what a real man should smell like. one of the legends n hall of fame frag for sure...respect armani house, what a masterpiece :)

This is such an awesome fragrance! It smells like Tuscany by Aramis but calmer and more modern. Reminds me of my dad. Just a fresh, citrusy, Mediterranean fragrance. I can strongly smell it on me for 3 hours, but it last for at least 6-8 closely on my skin. Projection is also good, I've gotten compliments on this. Overall, it's a surprising winner from Armani whom I'm generally not a fan of...definitely getting myself a bottle.

bronstein

It's about 20 years ago since I last had a smell on the 1980s version. This one is not too dissimilar and might as well not be classified separately. From what I can tell from memory, this one is more citric and fresh than the 1980s version, but that's the way most classic fragrances have gone.

Anyway, as with the 1980s version, this one is pleasant and distinctive, but more for the mature gentleman than the young.

Comparing side by side with Dior Eau Sauvage, Armani is the superior fragrance. Instantly more likeable. I'll probably pick up a bottle to layer with Chanel pour Monsieur

jioffu

It's manly and i don't think guys below fourty will suits to the scent. The initial opening is so good classy citrus and then you know.. Respray after two hour or one and a half hour.

I love this scent, this is the kind of fragrances I more enjoy. Is a clean, citrus, herbal and woody scent. It has a classic style, but is very nice and very male.

Since its output, it smell as a very natural lemon with herbal spices, in a very mediterranean style, in its medium phase grows up the smell of flowers with a prominent nutmeg and cloves.

Is similar in style to Eau Sauvage of Dior, Acqua di Parma Essenza and Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme, fragrances that I love too.

I think this fragrance it will be a must have always in my closet, because in my opinion this is the scent for a man.

Better in summer o warm weather, but in general is very versatile.

kairegr

Pretty close to Pour Monsieur from Chanel.

I think this fragrance is greatly underrated. Even in the "new" reformulation, this is a fantastic fougére / vetiver scent. It is extremely well-balanced with green citrus notes, florals, spices, woods and oakmoss...producing an overall very clean, fresh and energetic but masculine character. For me the smell is intoxicating, making me want to inhale deeply and savor the invigoratingly clean scent. The notes are very natural and well-blended, never giving the impression of synthetics.

Interestingly, I bought this instead of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino after spraying a wrist with each and comparing. I was very surprised at how unexpectedly similar the two are at initial spray and during development, especially the aldehyde note...but I actually found the dry down of this fragrance to be more to my liking.

This is one of my absolute favorite designer fragrances, and in my opinion the best from the house of Armani.

I've just received this and am enjoying it. I do find similarities with Eau Sauvage, but it is less rounded and full, though I am enjoying the aromatic dry down. It's probably unfair to compare it to Eau sauvage. I haven't smelt the original formulation but see that musk is missing from the notes. Is that an oversight or has it actually been removed? I'm sure it's present in the dry down. Anyway, overall I find it to be a beautiful scent for any occasion and completely unisex. I can't believe I haven't come across it before. Thumbs up.

I'm over 40 and I still feel too young to wear this.
On me, the lily is WAY too strong. It's certainly not feminine, but it's not quite masculine, either. Very neutral. Sedate, as in sedated.
It opens strong but generic, citrus and cool spices, and it dries down to something I consider way too flowery, kind of like hair grease.
The nutmeg, lily and cedar do not impress me. They smell kind of musty, sort of like a dude who has been with the company 20 years and never gotten beyond middle management. Sandalwood, patchouli, oakmoss. I don't mind any of those scents, but this particular balance of them isn't exciting. In fact, this whole composition takes me back to the 80s, when I was still young, and makes me think of old people. Kind of like Perry Ellis 360.
I would put this at over 55, for sure. Guys 30-40ish can still wear something interesting and fun (hell, so can guys 55+, for that matter). This may be slightly interesting, but it's not even remotely fun.
Srs bznss, but not in a good way. There's nothing to "earn" here, as some of the older guys have suggested, unless you like the smell of Brylcreem. Nothing wrong with that, particularly.

Giorgio Armani original formula was one of the greatest men's fragrances ever created. It had wonderful bergamot, spices, citrus that enveloped the wearer in this magnificent fragrance. It was classy for work or play. I wore it for years until they changed the formula and it wasn't the same, it had lost something (probably due to IFRA banning some of the ingredients used). I sampled the latest version and it is extremely close to the original. I would put it right back on its pedestal as one of the all time greats again. Thank you Mr Armani for getting it right this time.

kon72

This is the best citrus fragrance ever formulated in the history of the fragrance industry. Citrusy, fresh, elegant, masculine, sporty, sexy. I have tried other citrusy fresh fragrances such as allure homme sport, dior homme sport, allure edition blanche, dior homme cologne, eau savage, versace pour homme, tom ford neroli portofino but always return to armani eau pour homme. Armani please make the aftershave balm again.

The Oracle

This is a mature, retro, bold, masculine, sexy fragrance. It's also idiosyncratic; I don't know of any other cologne quite like it.

Eau Pour Homme is not for young guys. If you've worn Axe in the past five years - no. You haven't earned this one yet. This one is for educated, forward-moving, experienced, interesting, dashing men - at least in their mid-thirties.

However, this is not to say that younger ladies won't like this. On the contrary, my girlfriend is in her twenties, and she completely freaked out over this stuff.

Little_L

Being honest in my reviews, I tend to lean toward the emotional aspect of the fragrance without getting too technical about the breakdown and accords.
I must admit i had the opportunity to smell the original and was thankful they had not overdosed on inovation. I remember the old one being very musky and sweet but I prefer the newer.

As my portfolio suggests I adore classics and fragrances with at least a reputation. Armani pour homme is luxurious juice in old-fashioned packaging. The box and bottle are honest in intent without too many screaming decorations. The spritzer works well and gives a generous mist.

As I apply, there is a bitter-sweet tinge making me curious about the development. In about a couple of hours the invigorating spice bonfire quietly excuses itself and a deeper and darker mystery unfolds itself. It is certainly NOT screaming: "Hey, look at me, I can wear this and it will make me cool!", but boldly introducing itself and assuming it's position. The vibe of the drydown is mysterious. Although imposing, it suggests rather than states. Instead of amusing you, it shares the experience. It is like your energy-booster (in a deeper, non-Redbull fashion). Maybe that is why it grew on me so fast.

Who do I imagine wearing this? Mid 20s+, position of trust, power, persuasion (doctors, bankers, white-collar jobs, entrepreneurs, teachers...). I can vision someone from the generation x, in wish of power, sex, abundance, money wearing this. If you are in the position of power, where you call the shots and people answer to you, then you have found your olfactory match. However, I do not recommend it to youngsters, generation Y, clubbers and women.

I recommend wearing this in the daytime, especially in summer or autumn. We could define the masculitnity as between Brut by Faberge and Davidoff Cool Water.
How to wear: Apply 2-3 spritzes on your chest, under your undershirt. Do not spray on neck. Rather than a flashing sign, let it be a mysterious invitation (remember, it breathes with you).

I read from the Now Smell This bloggers that there's hardly any difference between the old and the new. So, I was surprised that to my nose, there really is a great big difference. The old one is heavy laden with citrus while the new one leans more towards the spice. I mean, it's not bad...just different. VERY different yet familiar, it should have been given a flanker name.

On the bright side, at least it wasn't reformulated into a synthetic mess like Drakkar Noir.

erkek

I tested this. Really I miss this scent. Green and orange complicated:) Maybe won't legend but its a beautiful and I will buy as soon as possible.

I didn't have a chance to smell Eau Pour Homme from '84 unfortunately. But this is (IMO) currently the best fragrance from Armani's "mainstream" lineup.

Eau Pour Homme is a little more linear "younger brother" of Dior's Eau Sauvage, but differences are quite noticeable on my skin. This has more spices, while ES is the best mix of citruses and herbs that I've ever smelled. It doesn't mean that EPH doesn't have herbs in it, no! They're present, but in the background, while the main ingredients are citruses(mainly bergamot) and spices (I feel the mix of cloves and nutmeg). Oakmoss and basil are there, but they're are not as pronounced as in Eau Sauvage.

Longevity is around 5 hours, like in ES, sillage is similar in both - average.

Generally I prefer Eau Sauvage over Eau Pour Homme. But I like this one also.

Tchelo

I agree with eliweisz. I had and enjoyed the old version and blind bought this one. It was dissapointing, indeed. The only thing that gets one attention is the bergamont/lemon opening, but since it lasts very little, its not worth the money. The drydown and sillage are, once again, very dissapointing.Didn´t expect a fragrance´s new version to be so different from what I expected, specially regarding the middle and base notes.

eliweisz

Tried it last week, hoping to test the new version and revive my rather distant memories of the old one. So...
Opening: sharp, citric, very much in the style of Dior Eau Sauvage. Floral notes join the choir in a couple of minutes, softening the scent and at the same time making it even more powerful.
Development: rather calm and linear, basil joined by beautifully balanced nutmeg and clove.
Drydown: sweet, woody, very close to the skin and rather boring. I'd call it 'shallow' - quite opposite to luxurious depths of Eau Sauvage.
Longevity: moderate.
Sillage: after an hour, disappointing.
Verdict: soft and non-offensive modern classic. Try before you buy! Personally, I'll opt for something else.

CGV

Amazing stuff! The new is actually better than the old version! The bottle is way nicer as well. Citrus Aromatic at its best, with heavenly oakmoss lingering in the drydown for hours. It manages all that without smelling dated or having an "old mans" vibe. I have been looking for such a perfectional daytime scent for a long time! Bravo!

bassdemon

The perfume notes may differ slightly between the two versions depending on what review you read so I rushed out and bought a bottle of the original thinking my favourite fragrance of all time was about to disappear. Thankfully after testing the new version I don't detect any difference between this new version and the original. It just seems to be re-packaged more than re-formulated. Phew!
This is the best lime / orange citrus fragrance on the market. No competition.

marioslg3

guys i have the older version and need to know the similarities or differences with this one, if it worths the purchase. Can you please through some light? Shall i buy it as it is more updated etc or it doesnt't worth it?

lovesupreme

Return of the Freakin' Jedi!!!!
I've been in longing for this for a long time! i used up too many bottles of the original Armani Eau Pour Homme, which was discontinued in many parts of Asia but reproduced in a "screwed up" version mostly in Europe and America, it lacked the magical ingredient which made what it is the "Oakmoss"; this newer version smelled like a distant gay cousin - what a loss! when i smelled this one (the re-"re"-imagined) i was immediately transported to my first experience with the original eau pour homme - i heard the folks have figured out a way to leave out the a part of the molecule in oakmoss that is banned by IFRA (the perfume regulating body) and include the rest - this is almost 90% there - i guess i'll take it - its light just like the orignal, so theres an after shave version as well! and you need to be a real man to strut this - so boys beware. 9/10.

vitilsky

Classy. But I don't like it for me. Nutmeg a bit too much, it's more of a 30+ fragrance.

Housebliss

Beautiful citrus opening, not too sharp but well rounded. Very impressed by this one. The citrus smells very natural, not synthetic at all.

Another thing I noticed; when I sprayed the tester in the store I wasn't sure I liked it. It seemed a little meh.... But I bought a bottle anyway and it smells wonderful.

Maybe the light in the store ruined the tester fragrance, as it did smell a little off. Considering the tester couldn't be older than a couple of months, I'd recommend you keep this in a cool dark place just to be sure.

Amazing spritzer by the way!

Update: Very similar to Boucheron Homme in the opening. I'm also finding it similar to Eau Sauvage and Pour Monsieur (two of my favourites). If you enjoy the aforementioned fragrances you should definitely try this one.

Update 2: It doesn't evolve much. It's pretty linear, and what you get at the top is pretty much the whole scent, mandarin orange being dominant.

Try it if you like citrus fragrances.

masrizalrikifariki

the opening citrus/lemon notes doesnt last longer..but strangely replaced with aromatic scent that is so manly & warm. love it,...totally seducing!

connor.mcbroom

The first thing that I thought of when I first sprayed this was grass. I get a lot of green herb notes i.e. the basil however in the opening there is citrus and a sharp lemon note which makes this very bright and fresh. The opening is very strong but in a confident bold way.

After about half an hour the citrus notes fade along with projection and the fragrance becomes more woody and earthy with the green herb notes in the background. Quite like this fragrance very fresh and great for summer. visit my site for more detailed reviews mrproductreview.com

Deefit

Opens with a lot of citrus, I like it! But the citrus fades away after about 20 minutes and from there I don't like the fragrance anymore.

Migalex

I would think this is an aromatic fougere fragrance. It is very bitter and similar to hundreds of other male scents. I am sure this is a very appreciated type of scent, but personally I find it horrible, neither more nor less horrible than the other similar scents, just the same, to be fair. Originality zero. As for the scent it is a matter of taste.

mohoyahya

for people who like citrus smell its perfect. but not for me as i prefer flowers to citress

Martinello

This opens very nice with a fresh lemon smell.
After about 15 minutes it evolves into lemon with nutmeg. Strangely this reminded me of my grandfather that past away, who I think never wore fragrances. I feel that I'm a bit to young for this fragrance(I'm 27), but maybe it's because of the memory of my grandfather.

Endymion

A really nice re-issue! :) I'm not sure I would buy it because of the high price (and the bottle feels disappointingly cheap...), but it's surely a nice and safe composition, maybe more to those who like citrus fragrances like myself :)

Francop

A very average citrusy clone of the original with poor longevity

Rudy Arnak

Menos estela, menos jabonosa y menos duración (en mi piel una hora menos apróximadamente comparando la original al mismo tiempo) .

Por lo demás, muy parecida a la original. En mi opinión, es una agua de colonia.

******

Less sillage, less soapy and less longevity ( one hour in my skin more or less comparing with the original at the same time).

The rest is very similar to the original. In my opinion is an eau de cologne.

bammragnarok

very classic

sameh

wanna give it a try !

reiabaygar

I cannot wait to get this one..hope this is a lot better than his brother...
