this fragrance is so good. gets lots of compliments, and despite all the comparisons to dior homme intense, this actually smells good instead of smelling like a plastic waxy grandma lipstick

DBlack47

I was gifted this fragrance, along with the EDP and this is head-and-shoulders ahead of the EDP. Boisée is elegant, refined and well-blended, perfect for a day suit. I wore this in summer (26 degrees Celsius) with a suit and it worked perfectly.

The longevity is great for the scent, around 8 hours, projecting moderately (around arms length) for the first 2 hours) and has a beautiful, soft sillage. This is a scent you dress up for, but it’s not necessarily a “special occasion” fragrance. It is a great fragrance!

Bought this almost two weeks ago. Was a bit of a blind buy. Although I did test it on my arm, I didn’t like the opening at all. Was very sharp on the Iris with black pepper. Together it smelled like Doom insect killer spray. But, when it dries down it starts to smell good and pleasing. The woody notes make it soft and very nice to smell. The stages this goes through is amazing. Just wish this was better on projection and stronger on skin. This is the biggest disappointment for me.

i must say not really winter time yet here by me so maybe it smells beter in the cold atmosphere.

Jaysned496

This is my favourite from the Givenchy gentleman line. Got that nice smokey, woody spicy scent profile with a touch of leather in here. I get about 6-7 hours of longevity with medium projection. Some find this boring but I have to disagree.

ivelino

A let down compared to gentlemen edp. If you buy it, get it from discounters, not a full retail price worth fragrance. Will use it up as an office scent as longevity is dismal. Overall, stck with edp an prive, this one is redundant.

Not a big fan of Iris, but i like this one. It's one of the most likeable from the Gentleman line for me, tied with last years release - Society. It is a good, date night scent! Don't blind buy if you don't like iris or if you don't know the smell of it!

Max.muraski

I turn into 007 when I wear this. The epitome of a gentleman. 9.5/10. Longevity could always be better…

Gaboich

It smells amazing(the iris is definetly the main attraction here)

performance and projection is both above average.

its a date night fragrance 100%

Amen! Hallelujah!

Trying to be Dior Homme INTENSE, but not quite there yet. LOL! The longevity and projection are piss poor, pardon my French. But so is the case with most Iris-woody-powdery concoctions, and especially those "dry" masculine ones. I still prefer Reserve Privée over Boisée, for some reason. It is fair to say Boisée does exactly what's on the tin, it's very woody. It's much woodier than Dior Homme INTENSE with its sweet pear note and than Reserve Privée with the juicy opening of Bergamot. It's still an exceptionally sophisticated and well blended gem, despite all of my moaning and judgy comparisons above, with almost a medicinal, barber shop, dry astringent quality to it, which I must say I do appreciate a great deal. I call these sophisticated fragrances from traditional well-established European houses "Opera scents", for more formal, stuffy social occasions. I wouldn't necessarily spray myself with this going to the gym. The dry down draws close to the sweet Rocha's Moustache, which is probably due to the patchouli note. I do like it and spritz it on myself on occasion from my 60 ml travel size version, which when it is done I almost certainly won't repurchase. It is too similar to the others in the Gentleman line and quite a bit generic when it comes to woodsy Irisy "male" scents. A solid LIKE from me, though.

Eau de Michael

Ever smelled inside your mom's make up pouch? This is it! All those wooden eyeliners, powders and lipsticks combined!

CamiBar&Beverages

As an iris note lover, i like the fragrance, it's build in a different direction, but very dissapointing longevity and projection. Well crafted elements, combined, but lacks "parfum status", i'll classify it as eau de toilette, intense maybe, but not parfum. 6.5 out of 10.

An easy favorite amongst the Gentleman line, Boisee represents the porridge being just right for my taste. Many in this line I find too formal or situational to really be worth the price. Boisee, however, feels like it could be worn with the most regularity. Pepper is quickly apparent upon application and gives a warm and spicy handshake. Iris and woods intermingle to create a scent that is floral, yet firm. The result is a fragrance that wears like silk. Soft and luxurious, Boisee feels like couture all the way.

In keeping with the gentlemanly theme, Boisee does not come on strong. In fact, it takes a few hours to begin to properly project. Before then, it simply gives off attractive bits of trace evidence in passing. It is an elegant, refined aroma that would be properly at home in daytime or evening. Boise just needs the right attire to match, as it feels like wearing a finely tailored and freshly pressed suit. Wear with confidence and notice that extra strut in your step.

I'm just so impressed with this. I'd tried both Gentleman EDT Intense and Reserve Privee from this line, but hadn't tried any of the other flankers or the original EDP before deciding to blind buy this. The EDT Intense was a bit too bright for my taste, although I wanted freshness like the EDT, and the Reserve Privee felt too situational, albeit an amazing fragrance. This brought me to Boisee, which I'd heard a good deal of praise on. The more subdued (but still present) iris, along with cacao pod and pepper really stuck out to me, enough to order it. Going into it, I believed it wouldn't be as fresh as EDT Intense, and that longevity might be quite poor. However, both of these presumptions were incorrect. The top notes of black pepper and geranium are so strong and clean that I'm immediately reminded of springtime. The iris is almost immediately noticeable, maybe a minute or two in. These notes start to blend seamlessly as the woods come forward to make for a spectacular scent. I know this is being somewhat relegated to a Fall/Winter fragrance, but I would argue that springtime, as well as some cooler summer evenings out, are great for this as well. The freshness of the florals mixed with the woods and just a hint of bitter chocolate make this so signature-worthy. It's refined but can be dressed down as well, I see it as an extremely versatile fragrance. Longevity is definitely moderate, 5-6 hours, but those are 5-6 amazing hours. Fair warning, it may be a bit redundant if you already own the EDT Intense, but I do see some differences as well.

Get it.

eriksatt94

This smells nothing and I mean NOTHING like anything in the Gentleman Givenchy line NOTHING. It smells very similar to Carolina Herrera prive idk if it's that boozy sweet smell im smelling but it's that one distinct note that stands by itself that immediately reminds you of Carolina Herrera prive. All in all this is very good it's not linear and more importantly it's not your typical woody frag or tobacco or leather. It's not cloying sweet or super dry it's really a gentleman cologne and young guy that's gregarious but also loves books and drawing a lil mysterious yet alluring. This is definitely a must have for winter. My winter rotation is Dior Elixir, TF ombre leather, Givenchy Boisee, Killian Angels Share, Amouge Royal Tobacco.

TrashBoat0

Much better than Gentleman Society, but still too much with the florals for my taste. Decent warm/fresh spiciness & woods, but not enough; it's still overpowered by the softer florals.

gurshaan.bangar

This fragrance is absolutely amazing, on my skin it smells something like if you mixed the original gentleman with le male le parfum. The iris and sandalwood with cocoa gives it a sophisticated, chocolatey and woody scent. The projection on this is moderate, id see this as a date night fragrance as the longevity is good but it does not project as much. To me this smells much better on my skin the reservee prive but i would recommend sampling both and seeing which one matches your taste.
Happy Smellings!

kojii

An elegant scent that’s amazing for fancy occasions. The opening is great, but maybe too storng for some. It’s a heavy but beautiful iris and woody opening. I personally love it. It then dries down to a warm woody and cocoa kind of smell, which is very nice but not super unique or special. Performance is underwhelming at this price and it’s not a super loud projection. Other than that this is a great fragrance, in my opinion a bit better smelling than the Reserve Prive but less wearable.

Lincoln_666

I absolutely love this scent! A little spice from the black pepper in the opening, a perfect blend of iris and woods in the dry down. I have heard this described as a cross between Dior Homme Intense and Dolce & Gabbana The One, which I think describes this scent perfectly. The longevity isn't bad, but it could be better. I get about 6 hours, projecting arms length for the first few hours. Easily my most worn fragrance this winter, I can't recommend this enough!

Lucasjames13

Givenchy Gentlemen Boisee is definitely the best in the givenchy line in my opinion. While the opening smells harsh for the first 2-4 minutes it dries down into one of my favourite type of wood scents. Sandalwood. The iris in this fragrance is very well done but not done as well as dior homme intense. the cocoa pod note is a bit strange, i cant smell it but ive seen others that do, neither with the patchouli, other than those two it smells like wood geranium and spices which i love.

ApolloEyes7

This is the way! Why get YSL Y, yeah the apple note is awesome but your buddy's wearing it. This one is cool. Ordered the travel size from Givenchy to get a sample of Society Extreme (which I hated). I compare it to Givenchy EDP like most people, but it's lighter. It's the lipstick in the breeze scent. Boisee / Breezy. Got good reactions with women, good for talking and dancing, if only I was more confident, especially with club music.

Kaxq

I really dislike the opening to this. The geranium is really off putting for some reason to me but once it dries down that changes.

Smooth iris on top of different woods with a slight hint of patchouli and an even slighter hint of cacao.

This is a little bit different than the usual "men's cologne" seeing as there isn't a strong sweet vanilla which I think is very nice.

Smells like a well made rich man, not much more to say. Wouldn't pay retail especially with performance as lacklustre as this, but for a good price it is definitely worth picking up. Very masculine and mature!

mordrod

Woodsy, creamy, irisy. Stays true to the line, however, it is a bit more classically masculine than the bunch. Extremely base-heavy. Projection is weak to moderate at the moment(winter).

I barely scrubbed it off my skin with soap 14-15hrs later though, so this makes me think it will project a lot more during summer, when the heat would lift those base molecules off the skin and project them, instead of them staying on the skin forever.

I am quite happy with my tester purchase of 100 ml for less than 50USD where I live. I could imagine it is less expensive than the rest of the line elsewhere on the globe too. If that is the case, maybe grab one. You could blind buy this one, it is not as makeupy as the rest. I would say it is masculine, with a twist. However, if you already have some of the others from the line, better test it first, it could come off as a bit redundant.

Bingo30

Iris, black pepper, sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar are the notes which stick out to me the most.

The cacao seems to be the “selling point” note but I really don’t get much of a chocolatey vibe. And the truth is, I’m GLAD. I am so happy that this iris doesn’t go into the ultra sweet gourmand territory because that has been done to death. It dips its toes in, but it stays true to itself in the end. This is its own thing! It definitely isn’t another take on Dior Homme Intense.

I love the smell. The iris is luxurious and still fresh. There is a sweetness but it is far in the background. The peppery notes give it a masculine edge. It smells clean but also a bit sexy.

It does stay too close to the skin, however. Wish the opening lasted a bit longer too. But overall, I think this is probably the best modern men’s designer fragrance that you will find at your local mall / beauty products store.

TinCan22

Very crisp and dry woods layered over with a subtle yet elegant iris. The cacao really sticks out to me later in the dry down giving it a slight gourmandy sweetness making it smell quite unique. Only downside really is the performance i really wish it projected more as it likes to sit really close to the skin, longevity its pretty good.

I have reserve prive too, i really like it, smells very elegant and the performance is very nice. I must say the scent of boisee is awesome, definitely my favourite in the line. its just that performance is a bit of a shame. 😕

Remmious

This is my most recent purchase along with Society and own EDT Intense and EDP. I will say all 3 are not redundant, yes all iris based and can tell they are related but not overly similar. Whereas EDT Intense has big aromatics and cedar/cypress woody background making it the freshest; and EDP has its noticeably warm spices, balsamic resin feel and smooth vanilla; Boisse is right in between where the coriander and geranium opens up similar to a fresh green cardamom, it’s woody but bright, then as it dries its soft, little sweeter and more woods. It does come off classy but not stuffy if that makes sense.

Performance to me is less than the other two mentioned. I instantly loved EDT Intense, quickly grew to greatly appreciate the EDP and once I smelled Boisse had to have it. I have smelled Prive and it’s great but quickly dries down close to EDP so I’ve held off so far. Great collection of scents. Society is much different and brings its own appeal.

DaveCave

This a great woody Iris and sweet fragrance. Very unique smelling stuff.

bljczmln

One of my favourites for the colder weather. Light but complex scent because of the cacao, little bit powdery iris, the various wood and the spicy opening. I find it sweet & vanillic personally, maybe because of the cacao in it. It's intoxicating to me. Not the strongest but it last long and projects just enough. Many call it a date scent but is easily a winter singature worthy fragrance. Simpy put, sexy, masculine, elegant. A must have for the colder seasons. I will always have 1 bottle in my collection that's for sure.

Biscuitt

Beautiful and sultry, can't stop smelling myself when i have this on

davehalabe

An Amazing Iris, Cacao and Patchouli scent, a little bit different from all the fragrances in the Gentleman collection, personally I think by a blink it is the best in the line of Gentleman by Givenchy and a very underrated and not talked about fragrance

It is worth the price tag

Great For winter, Dates and Special Events

Overall 4.30/5

Apache1830

Very good !

Opens up heavy on the woody notes and I don't like this, but after some time it flourish and gets creamier, with Iris and cacao becoming prominent.

Round, warm, creamy, cozy, elegant, masculine

Would love a bottle !

Fragrance Notes

I sprayed this on my wrist at Ulta the other day and it reminded me a bit of Abercrombie Fierce/Mont Blanc Legend but upscale and warmer. This will be one of my next purchases. 9/10 so far and I absolutely recommend trying this on skin. You will get compliments!

bayberrybee97

9/10 love it. Initial spray to me smelled like something sweet like vanilla. After a while it evolved into a creamy sandalwood fragrance. Nice everyday casual scent. Light and unique, like something exclusive. Memorable. Comforting also.

Aryaberzan

Yeah it’s beautiful, mellow, maybe more refined and versatile than the original. However, the original is a beast compared to this. This is weak, lasts a couple hours on skin, a few more on clothes but intimate. That’s why the original is also a bargain compared.
It’s definitely a gorgeous smell, but will get lost if someone wearing the original edp is within 10/15 metres. The same goes for privee…

CHRISTIANDIORDIOR

Super sexy, masculine. Huge compliment getter. Raw and woody. I love this cologne, so unique and mature, perfect for winter and autumn, and like the rest of the givenchy line, it's not mainstream yet, so you'll smell different from everyone else.

Mbassedor

Smells good but dissapointed with the sillage and longevity..

jcarolinajr

Straight to the point, this fragrance is for those who love a walk through the raw woods, the natural, elegant, pristine woods of Rock Creek Park, as opposed to designed Central Park. Better yet, visit the ancient boxwoods of Mount Vernon in bleak, cold February and become intoxicated by their indescribable scent. Either you will fall down and worship the one true God immediately or begin speaking in tongues; or you’ll finally realize your doomed fate for becoming Satan’s crafty minion and accept the fact there is no hope for you. Sorry! Such is Fate!! If this fragrance appeals to you and you wear it well, you will be like catnip drawing out the beasts from the fields. If you wear it to church all eyes will be on you; and only the boss who owns the company can wear it to the office and everyone will be mesmerized and in awe, and fascination. People will be working and producing like crazy because the man who wears this well is very real in the knowledge and fate of his soul. He’s the “Hound of Heaven”…, either that or an angel of the Lord. Praise God!

zaynpenev

I just made registration to say how wonderful this fragrance is.Best woody gem in my opinion

benlippi

Suuuuper sexy. Dry dusty chocolatey Iris scent. Love it.

jonathan santana

Eu sinto íris e chocolate, uma íris pouco atalcada e muito confortável e um chocolate que dá uma leve doçura sem tirar a elegância, no meu entender é um perfume elegante e romântico ao mesmo tempo.

monsieur.moustache

Another hit from the Gentleman collection. I usually have mixed feelings about fragrances with a hefty iris presence, but that's n/a here. This smells fantastic.

Projection is also commendable. It radiates just enough for others to notice, but not so much that it's overwhelming.

9/10

LeSmeller

Whereas Gentleman EDP and Gentleman EDP Reserve Privée are very similar, this is different (except the iris-heavy opening): sweet, peppery, woody, fruity. The notes combine to give it a red fruit vibe, somewhat sour. Sandalwood blends in nicely. On the other hand, the cacao is dry, powdery, and soothing. As a whole, it is warm, spicy, and powdery. It's energetic yet calm. A good perfume, maybe a tiny bit too peppery for my taste.

This scent is very similar to Hugo Boss The Scent Le Parfum. Also, Boss The Scent Private Accord because of the cacao, but this is better, though less chill. The fruitness combined with the dryness makes it somewhat similar to Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men. Comparing it to Dior Homme Intense is a big stretch. This, being quite sweet overall, smells more like a Spicebomb alternative.

Sillage is weaker than I would expect, about an EDT level.

A little bit of buyer's beware especially for long-term collector:

I collect pretty much the entire line of Givenchy Gentleman and I got 2 bottles from the line (Cologne and Boisee) that have the sprayer head went dud and no longer spraying no matter how I tried. Have to remove the entire sprayer, decant the entire bottle elsewhere & throw away the glass :-(

stefani valini

I love this scent, i am a woman and I imagine myself wearing it. Its sweet and woody. The iris notes blended with the sandalwood work perfectly together. The cacao add some sweetness.

Andreasduft

Veldig behagelig tre lukt med en del iris til min nese. Får opp mot 7-8 timer + men værtfall 6,5 time. En av mine favoritter og en av de mest undervurderte jeg har

Honkymagoo

It's ok. The poor projection is a put off for me. I feel like I can only get subtle hints of anything while I'm wearing this even just after 3 sprays. It'll last most of the day as a light skin scent but nothing about it pops out at me. It's fine as long as you're not expecting a statement.

BEmmett20

I love this!

Initially I purchased Gentlemen EDP, but my wife hated it - immediately. So I was a bit hesitant to jump right back into the Gentlemen line to pick this up. However, her reaction to Boisée was exactly the opposite - and usually she’s not a fan of iris. So this fragrance has quickly become an everyday love for me.

The opening is delightful with the bits of chocolate and iris - it’s very, very good. The iris and cocoa are never too loud - so for me this is an ideal fragrance for work/everyday.

From the opening it starts to settle into a bit of a powdery (not too much though) scent with some the vanilla and a creamy sandalwood mixing nicely in the dry down. Overall this is just a really pleasant scent from the opening to the dry down

A great value at any rate. 10/10 for me.

istvan.buda.779

Very classy scent , love it!!!

Holmisch

This is my daily driver. I totally love it!
For me it is a clean, iris and creamy wood scent. No one can dislike this!
Its not a project monster, but thats not what i want either.
I was afraid that it didnt project at all but i tested to walk by my coworker and he could scent the trail after 6 hours use and with 2 sprays behind my ear.
Would say it projects even longer.
10/10 for me

BrunoS

I honestly love it. I agree with everyone saying it has poor longevity, it lasts about 3 hours. If you use it and then take about an hour to get to work it will be sensed by people around you only if they hug you or get really close. Those are the downsides. The smell is amazing though. Its calm but very musculin. It really is a gentlemen fragrance. You have to reaply it over the day but except this its an amazing one. I really love it.

edifier

This is to Gentleman 2017 what YSL Y EDP is to Y EDT 2017. Both are woody with a sprinkling of sweetness, making them versatile scents for most occasions except for days over 30 degrees Celsius. But Y EDP is the more interesting fragrance between the two and I’d take Gentleman 2017 over this one in spite of its poor performance.

bdgarver

Caught me by surprise to say the least. The Gentleman line has been touch and go with me. The EDP is too sharp and aggressive for me but Boisee and Privee have been stunners. Boisee is more fresh than any in the line and can be a great versatile scent even for business in the cooler months. In the same space as Dior Homme Intense but this is lighter and more fresh. The cacao, woods and iris keep it just dark enough but geranium keeps it zesty. Drys to a semisweet creamy woody light iris scent with a hint of chocolate that is sexy but mature and elegant. I get some similarities to The One when it’s dry. However this is way more complex and sophisticated but not nearly as sweet or as thick. Reminds me more of Halloween Man Shot but more professional and upscale. Performance is perfect for work or dates but not to announce yourself in a crowd. Lasts about 8 hours but only projects for 2-3 of them in office setting. Anyway it’s a worth gatekeeping it’s that good. One of the best fragrances I have found this year. 9/10 for me

chipchippahson

Got a decant. I like this stuff! Unfortunately silliage and longevity on my skin is poor, it's pretty much gone after 3 hours. NOT "subtle," it's completely gone.

On the right person I could see this being a great office scent, or even a daily driver though. The smoothness of the blending and slight sweetness makes me think of a powdery, iris-y, and more "professional" daytime version of The One EDP.

John JAG

This is one of my Autunm work fragrances, it is a sublte and sweet fragrence that eminates a buisnessman or professional man who takes pride in what he does.
For me i get the Iris scent which lasts quite a long time and seems to remain the same strength for several hours.
The scent is not sharp nor scant, its a smooth even fragrence , ideally suited to a mature man who takes pride in himself and what he does.
Reading the comments below, i see some that think this is a weak fragrence or not suited to a mature man, for me it evokes pride and talent in a bottle. Think of a mature man who is humble and honest who works with pride and respect.
To me this is an Autumn fragrence during the day or an evening fragrence from Autumn to Spring.
To me this is a 10 10 Autumn fragrence, i am so glad that i purchased this, now if i caould only find another scent which can give me the same vibe for Autumn or Winter then i will have that one as well.

Vinul Francis

Love the scent. Sweet Powdery Elegant

Batch number 2G01.. It was a fragrances exchange with a friend .. and I didn't went to buy it ..
It have a beautiful opening..with a long lasting performance..modern style.. very suitable for the fall nights ..
Through last week i tried all gentleman line .. frankly the edt intense one is the most beautiful one .. very nice .. fresh and playful..also versatile.. while the reserved private is close to my Dior homme Parfum but lighter ! ..
this boisee one little bit dark and deep.. need auccasions.. formal wear .. but beautiful enough to give it to my Dad .. of course some times I will borrow it from him !.. 🤔..
*Oct 12th, 2023
After trying the fragrance... all I can say is that it is more than wonderful.. the sillage is more than two and half hours ..the performance more than 12 hours on my skin.. more than 3 days on my clothes..its balanced and perfect... really perfect... so beautiful 🌟 🤩

RedHerring

Sandalwood is the star here, with the other notes playing a more subtle and supporting role. Opens fresh and gets smoother and creamier over time. Very elegant and versatile fragrance.

NiTrOz

Very nice smelling and well done by Givenchy with that little extra luxury feeling. Varm, deep, dry woody, cacao, iris, and mostly...SOFT! Getting hints of when you just sharpened your school pen in a pencil sharpener, which is nice :D . Fresh sprayed and drydown is both good. But the longevity and sillage is gettin a big - for me....But I sometimes grabbing me this frag when I still want to smell awesome and with a way laidback touch. This is a >Very settled back parfume and soft overall. (Maybe Im noseblind to it??) Top notes has some florals and is only for about 30-40mins then its a skinscent after ~1h, and drydown lasts for ~4-5h, and dont get me wrong, love it and the fragrance is really good and a bit of its own kind a special one!

Smell 8,5/10
Longevity 5,7/10
Sillage 6/10
Versatility 8/10
Uniqueness: 6/10
Value and Quality 10/10

raphxo

I chose this over reserve privee despite the hype against privee bc this is a lot more versatile and appealing to me tbh

VicGuzman89

Love this! Not too sweet but seductive enough for a date night. It can also be used a signature scent for cold weather. It lasts on my skin about 4 hours and it projects about arms length for the first hour. 8/10 for me!

sandro.agrello

Warning:

Strong resemblance with The One EDP.

If you don't like that, maybe stay away.

The Iris is light and very nice here. Good Iris plus (but) The One smell...

I have those and the whole line of Gentleman's, but don't like these two (The One and GEDPB) very much...

IMHO

Cherubina

This one and Dior Home Intense top 2 Male fragrances for me personally. Its a joy to smell it.

Julio Mercado

This fragrance is London in a bottle IMO. The smell is amazing; fresh and elegant, it feels like a wet sophisticated cloudy day, smells like the greens, but also like the streets or the cold inside a Tesco store. You can feel the humidity of Swiss Cottage, the high end restaurant vibes, beautiful landscapes and rainy evenings near the Thames.

Sorry if my opinion is made out of full nostalgia, love and memories.

Smell: 9/10
Performance: 7/10
Projection: 7/10

irogers217

My current signature scent as of rn. Smells amazing and gathers a lot of compliments from both genders. Can definitely rock in the summer as the sweetness isn't cloying compared to other fragrances . A lot more versatile than Reserve Privée. Cannot wait for the colder seasons to approach. Might get a 200 ml backup bottle, its that good!

serbanalexandru1986

best from the gentleman line for me

Cpaisley22

I was browsing a local fragrance section the other day and the rep told me that this was marked down by 40% because it is being discontinued. There's always a chance that this could be misinformation (hate that word), and would be worth looking into, but regardless I scooped it up for a great price

Shaggy123

I'm not leaving a "rating" because I realize that something not being to my taste doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad...

For most of the frangrance's lifetime, it smells waxy and plasticy. Very unnatural and synthetic. This may be the niche "iris" accord that isn't to everyone's taste. My nose is untrained and I am young. Take what I say with a grain of salt.

This is just one of those scents where I don't understand the appeal.

chelocalarota

Gentleman EDP Boisee:

Very smooth, classy, mature fragrance. Doesnt lean towards being too mature, but has enough spice to it to warrant a decent put together outift if you know what I mean. It may not give you a "wow" factor type reaction, but it is unique and it is a very easy wear for the user. A tester under $60 on eBay for this quality of afragrance is not bad at all. I would count this as my backup to Le Male le parfum, just not as seductive which makes it more appropriate for casual or office wear.

7.5/10. Very solid.

Dr Dean

The best Givenchy perfume with Gentleman Eau de Parfum Reserve Privée.

DarthFragrance

I was going to get a backup bottle of Reserve Privée but decided to take a chance on this instead. I can't speak on the entire line, I only have Boisée, Reserve Privée and Society, but these are very well blended and have high quality ingredients. As far as designer houses go, I would put this stuff right near the top in terms of blend and quality. For that reason, even though they're scored highly on here, I feel like this line is a tad underappreciated because I don't hear it talked about as much as I feel it deserves.

I picked up Reserve Privée when it launched so I've spent a good amount of time with it, but just picked up Boisée this week. The main difference is Reserve Privée is boozy and Boisée is chocolately. Both are iris focused and woody. I actually think I prefer Boisée, which is a huge shocker to me because I obviously love Reserve Privée since I was going to get a backup bottle of it. I think my personal preference just leans towards the cacao notes over the whiskey notes. The cacao in Boisée is incredibly well blended with the woods and iris.

I was actually wearing Polo Red Parfum and really enjoying it when I first tested out Boisée on my arm. I went back and forth between the 2, and it was a stark contrast in quality of ingredients and blend. I really like Polo Red Parfum a lot and bought a bottle, I think it's amazing. But when you smell it next to this, or compare almost any designer fragrance to this, Boisée is in a league of its own. It's so well balanced, sexy and alluring.

Performance is decent, moderate longevity with moderate projection and sillage. One could argue that with a scent as classy as this, you don't want it to be a loud beast. Besides, the scent on this is so good, the performance doesn't even matter. I can easily pick up wafts for hours and hours, it's not one I go nose blind to. I wear fragrances for myself, so as long as I can smell it, that's all that matters.

krishcan

I got a sample bottle, of this cologne. Sillage is pretty good for the first hour or so, but after it really dries down the scent nearly goes away completely. Even though it smells amazing, the longevity is certainly up-to-standard with this price point.

foreignshores

As others have mentioned, this one is very well balanced. And despite its characteristically warm and cozy notes, I've been wearing it for several weeks in our dry 90°ish spring weather (I live in Phoenix) and it's brilliant. Neither cloying nor overly sweet. If anything, the heat wakes the cool green of coriander and the sweeter floral aspects of the geranium. Also... I have a love/hate relationship with iris. Love it in Green Irish Tweed and hate it in Dior Homme. In this accord, the iris is subtle but effective enough in bringing the other notes into harmony. Beautiful stuff.

rightonthenose

If you're stuck choosing between the Gentleman EDT (2017) or Gentleman Boisee EDP, I'd recommend the Boisee for a date night occasion. Simply put, it does iris much better.

Whereas the EDT is milder, soapier, and has a general "clean" vibe, I think the Boisee EDP shines with a spicier top note which dries down to reveal a beautiful iris and "grape" heart note. It's one of those rare fragrances that is extremely understated, not cloying in warm weather situations, and is absolutely addicting to smell.

Unless you're in a room filled with a bunch of dudes that sprayed way too much BR 540 or Dior Sauvage Elixir, Gentleman Boisee EDP will get you noticed.

IMO ,this Boisee is the best of the whole Gentleman lineup. why? because it is the most balanced fragrance.

I took the time to try them all at the department store, and found some too woody, another one too powdery and feminine, another one too boozy, but when I tried Boisee it struck me like a lightning bolt! What a delight for the senses!

Just to give a little bit of context: I am 46 and recently got back in the dating scene. Most of the fragrances in my collection are mass pleasers: Polo Red, ADG, Sauvage EDP and Antonio Banderas Icon EDP. I was looking for something more unique and inviting, mild but well balanced , that has short projection and an average duration of no more than 6 hours. A signature scent for romantic dates only.

Boise fits the bill for its perfect balance of wood, iris and cacao. None of them overshadows the other, but they work in a perfect symphony that evolves from a fruity/woody opening, into this delicious cacao/iris dry down. The first day I used it I got a CRAP LOAD of compliments and women around me asking what I was wearing. I say all this because I have seen many people complaining about its duration, however it's very important to be clear of why and for which occasions do you need this fragrance for.

If you want more duration and projection, maybe the regular EDP is the one for you. Still, I would not recommend to buy it blind, because they are all similar with slight differences. Even better, spray them on your skin and wait until the next day to make your final decision as I did.

However I can affirm with complete confidence, that Gentleman Boisee is absolute perfection, and the epitome of the masculine date fragrance. Highly recommended.

This is my favorite Givenchy fragrance I’ve gotten my nose on

CanadianSmells

Stunning fragrance. My winter go-to/ cold date nights go-to. Powdery, sweet, cacao with woods and some pepper. Just beautiful man.

Girlfriend can’t get enough. Spray it heavier if you want better projection. This lineup isn’t that expensive , and worth every damn penny.

Overall: 8.9/10, reminds me of Christmas / fall type scents.

Mr_G_75

@idshagstries You are definitely new to fragrances. You must have a problem with your sense of smell. There is absolutely nothing synthetic about this fragrance. This fragrance is beautiful from the opening all the way through the dry down. In your description you state that you love fresh spices, don't like almonds or aldehydes or most ambers. Then you will never have the ability to enjoy many fragrances on the market. You also said that people shouldn't trust reviews on here to blind buy stuff. 100% of my purchases were decided based on reviews from the people on this site and I enjoy every fragrance I have purchased blindly.

sebseb

To me it does everything La nuit de l'Homme does. It is very very nice, not that strong in the iris, a little fresher, I really like it.

Evan Massey88

Going to get hammered for this one.

I kept thinking something was familiar in this one. Let my wife smell it one me two occasions, and both times she kept saying she didn’t like the deodorant smell it gave off. I was disappointed because I like iris. Then it hit me….

This smells like a body spray on the dry down. The familiarity was from my teenage years when axe body spray was the rage. It’s obviously better quality, but I just can’t get passed it. I’d go for the EDP, edt or reserve privee over this one.

This is a great fragrance, Spicy, Woody, Floral, Warm and Seductive. My wife bought this perfume for me as a Gift, before she asked me what fragrance do you like? I said Givenchy Reserve Privee, She tried both of them and bought Boisee for me , Now I love it. It opens up with warm spicy, floral and Cacao notes in the background then dry down is earthy, floral woody. The Orris, The Black Pepper and burning wood notes are dominant in this scent. I really enjoy it and I'm so happy that I have it in my collection. Longevity is good.
Thumbs Up.

Lovely iris and sandalwood on the drydown. It is perfectly unisex and women will love to smell this. Herein lies the problem I find with most modern perfumes; they seek to please everyone all at once. This flanker, along with other presumed, has nothing interesting to offer and lacks character. I don't want to buy niche perfumes (some of which are just replicas of 80's powerhouses anyways) because there was a time when designers could make whatever they want without fear of a bad youtube review from a popular influencer. Yes, this smells nice but, there's no reason to own it if you own almost anything else at the moment. It's hard knowing this comes from the same designer that brought us Pi. I haven't tested the 2017 Gentleman, but looking at the notes, it seems like the best choice in the line.

stoychoexpress

Absolutely love scent

Mcnubins

One of my favorites. Its soooo smooth. A creamy woody scent that just screams maturity and masculinity. To me the closest in the line is the EDP. People want to compare it to Privee but they are two distinct and different scents. I love Privee, don't get me wrong but Privee is an updated version of the Iris Dior Homme DNA. This is closer to what D&G The One line than anything else. I love it. Its a must have for me.

Lhomme_Juanco

It’s good but everything Boisee does, privee and society do better. Performance, compliment and even smell

FloridaFragLover

The lady at the mall sprayed this on a tester strip before I could tell her i already own it but out of curiosity it occured to me to compare and see if it's been reformulated already, and it has. It's not even the same scent. Maybe just the top notes? (They can do that). Didn't give it a wearing but it's definitely different and honestly it's nice

I've never liked this fragrance. To me it smells like cheap sandalwood.

This is one of those fragrances that macerated for me. When I bought it it was terribly weak but after about 4 months of sitting it's strong now

Dylanturek

Still relatively new at developing a fragrance collection, but out of the niche and designer fragrances I do have (about 15 full bottles and plenty of decants), this is the first one that motivated me to join fragrantica to leave a comment. I can't speak much to the note breakdown (I won't pretend to be that skilled) except to say that it's powdery, fresh and warm and that I think it's criminally underrated. It's a gorgeous scent and I find it calming, confidence inspiring and a perfect reflection of how I want to smell always. However, up until a few days ago, I would have warned you that its longevity is seriously holding it back.
Despite that, I love the opening and drydown so much, I've been rocking it to the office at least once a week, alternating with prada l'homme, y edp, explorer and a few others. In the last few weeks, three separate times when I thought I could barely smell the fragrance anymore (sometimes within 3 hours of applying 4-6 times), a person in my general area mentioned how strong the fragrance smelled to them. Not in a negative way, but in a way that really messed with my mind and makes me question how much the often cited performance issue is really a question of going nose blind. If I spray any of my clothes, I can usually smell it longer than on my skin. But each time someone mentioned being able to smell the fragrance (from a normal distance away) I had only sprayed my collar bone once on each side, once behind each ear, and once on my chest... So if I'm only going noseblind and that's why I was convinced performance sucked, I'm still pissed off that I can't smell it all day, but it's my brain's fault and not the fault of this stunner of a scent. Take that for what it's worth, but out of all the flankers, I think this is the sleeper and the quiet star of the bunch. To me, this entire line has the highest percentage of ultimately wearable and gorgeous fragrances out of any of the designer houses I've so far tested. Get it and ask people around you if they can smell your glory if you're worried about performance. I think, but I'm not sure, that it's all in your head.

Smellybutgood

Gentleman Boisee is a well balanced fragrance that is classy and versatile. This fragrance opens with compliment worthy black pepper, while the iris and cedar loom about for hours which makes this a fragrance that is easy to love.

It does not project well however and remains relatively close to the skin regarding performance, but lasts easily for 6 to 8 hrs on the skin.

Among the Gentleman line, I have Boisée at #3 behind EDP, and Privee. It's far less powdery than EDP and Privee but also the most versatile of the line. Can be worn easily in Fall, Winter, as well as Spring.

Overall, this is a great spicy / woody / semi-powdery fragrance that is an excellent addition to the Gentleman line.

Cam23

“Sweet, woody iris” is the best way I can describe this. Smells very masculine but still modern so it’s more versatile than other wood scents.

Roman86

This is super pleasant and for a EDP it performs well enough. It starts off fresh and sweet then dries down and becomes much woodier. This can be worn most times of the year except in the dead of summer unless it's at night since the notes aren't too aggressive. This can be unisex.

jaydenmatteen

Very woody for a mature man. My dad wore this and I think this fragrance is the definition of male

fragrancemp

Absolutely beautiful scent, favorite amongst my tiny collection. Performance is not great as many have already mentioned, but wow that sweet, spicy, woody opening is incredible. I find if you spray it on your clothes it really does help al ot, garnered a lot of compliments from this. :)

TheBrokeFragranceFan

Beautiful smelling scent. Performance is rubbish. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it lasts maybe an hour with a very soft projection. I intentionally oversprayed and asked my girlfriend if she could smell me after an hour and she couldn’t tell that I was wearing anything. It’s killer off of a tester strip. And it pains me to say this about a scent with so much potential but there is zero reason to own this.

Breakthrou

Works very well for me. It’s not a projection beast but has a decent sillage. I still get the creamy cocoa heart in the air 6 hours later with 7 sprays. High quality juice and I got my tester for 65$ US 100ml.

Damon888

Scent is great , but performance is awful ...

dj5014

Smells great, love the whole line--seems to perform very well for me.

jdmb03

@Domarch

Your trolling game is weak.

Niicolas

It was after this perfume that I stopped making blind purchases...
the woods here hurt my nose, i don't know why, i thought it would be a little creamy, but not at all for me, something in there hurts my nose, something that wasn't there in DHI, apart from that there is obviously a resemblance.

mazenn_mohamed

Smells great. personally not the best smelling winter scent, but it does the job. For projection and sillage its considered about average.

dailyscents

This fragrance is wonderful for a single hour. After that it’s vanished like I never put it on. It’s a shame because I really love it. Maybe I got a bad bottle.

ularewolf

This is the strangest fragrance. I love it, but not when I smell it directly where I sprayed. It has such an incredible sillage smell and aura, but on my skin it smells a little harsh and not sure what is causing that.

But wow, when people or you get a trail smell of it, you and others will stop in their tracks, I guarantee it.

It’s hard for me to describe this fragrance as I do not get as much iris and chocolate as others. Notably I get intense woods, with some softness from a buttery iris and sandalwood. Very unique, never smelled anything like it to be honest. Because of that, this will probably be discontinued soon.

Not a safe blind buy but definitely worth sampling.

PushyLemon

got my second bottle on 12/22 and the performance is absolute dog wank compared to my 08/20 bottle, it definitely needs maceration especially because it has woodsy notes. you can also not smell the bottom notes as much which are what makes this frag absolutely amazing
How to macerate: spray out some fragrance to let oxygen in, take the cap off and put it in a cool dark place for 4+ weeks its going to transform! The bottom notes will mix better with the top notes and the performance will double

FragStar

Opens with a beautiful blend of sweet woods, cacao and iris. Pepper adds a welcome spice and geranium gives a slight rose accord. The feeling is caramelized, luxurious, modern and stylish. In the dry down the iris merges with the cedar, the woods remain sweet, the spice fades, and the cacao adds a milk chocolate facet. The patchouli adds just the right amount of earthy edge to keep the fragrance masculine and the stylish woods last throughout the longevity of the wear. A great addition to the line and a real pleasure to wear in the colder seasons.

thelastpharaoh

This is a great scent, so it's nothing short of a tragedy that its performance is terrible. Like really bad. People are being overly generous saying this has average performance. This is not EDP quality at all. It has good sillage for the first 15 minutes and then it's all downhill from there.

As for the scent itself, it smells exactly like the notes described. Opens spicy and quickly turns into iris and cacao. Beautiful blending of both. Then it settles into a strong woody scent. Overall very pleasant. Does feel modern. Like something a well dressed guy in his 30s would pick out.

Not a cold weather performer. It will disappear in minutes if you step outside in cold weather with this on. Would recommend for Spring or Fall. Can be worn in any occasion. I don't think it would impress on a date night, there are lots of better options, even within the same line (ie. Privee or Gentleman EDP).

4dri3n

The opening here is my favorite of the Gentleman eaux de parfum: woody, spicy, almost prickly feeling combined with the signature iris note. Funny how this is the only one where they list a cocoa note, due to all the heavy woods this is the least chocolaty of the line to my nose.

It's let down a bit by the dry-down, where it becomes kind of a one note woody patchouli thing. Decently long lasting though somewhat nose-blinding to me.

My real pick of the line remains the EDT Intense.

Brvdnxn

Getting Aoud lemon mint and The One vibes from this. It’s kind of like a more wearable, warmer, softer and woodier auod lemon mint but without the beast mode performance.

binker

Perfect Fall anytime any occasion fragrance. It’s the best of Dior Homme & d&g the one mixed together

DodgersLH714

Wow had to get it right after sniffing it. Awesome iris blending. It's bright Woody and has this ULTRA modern feel to it.

scottgiles86

Sophisticated Iris with cocoa. Dry and waxy with a mild spicy/woody sweetness. Great smell with just average performance. Less Iris than Dior Homme and more Cacao. If Dior ever officially discontinues the original Dior Homme, this would be a great substitute...and that fragrance never had great performance either. Like a 60/40 mix of Dior Homme and Prada L'homme. Underrated.

Fragmoneypit

Gorgeous fragrance, smelled on the strip at Macy's and wasn't a fan initially. Sprayed on the skin to be sure, and wow I'm glad I did! Very classy and elegant. My new cold weather signature. Performance is just OK, sillage is good.

BootneyLee

Absolutely beautiful. I'd take this over DHI any day. Doesn't perform anything like DHI though. The iris in this is what iris should always smell like. Smooth, buttery, creamy iris supported by the cacao. The iris in DHI is just too lipsticky and cosmetic. This is great for about 3 hrs and then you need a refresh. So, you'll probably go through a bottle pretty quick, but is is a heavenly scent, just a poor performer.

RileyB

I made the mistake of pretty much dismissing this scent after the first time I wore it from a new bottle. Mistake. Here is what I learned.
Let the bottle rest and use it now and again. It transforms from a completely flat wear to coming fully to life after 3 or 4 weeks.
This is not a cool weather scent. It needs warmth to perform. I first wore it at the end of winter on a cool day. It was very flat, only projected for about an hour and gone completely in less than 4 hours. Currently with a little use in between, I am wearing it on a warm spring day, the scent has excellent projection for at least the first 4 to 5 hrs, and I am still getting wafts of it 11 hrs latter. A complete about face!
Last but not least, with most of my scents I usually only need about 4 sprays to achieve a good result. With this I used 6 separate and the difference was stunning - and ample!
Now about the scent. This is NOT and Iris centric scent. Its all about the cocao that sits at the heart. The cocoa is absolutely beautiful, and is played against with very soft aromatics coming from light amounts of pepper, geranium and coriander. I sometimes worry that the geranium in some scents might give it a dated feel, but in this instance it’s not the case. The overall composition is thoroughly modern feeling. The iris only serves to smoothen the whole composition and remains understated. As the scent dries down a very soft sweetness arrives that feels like its from the sandlewood. Its super gentle and exactly the right amount to softly enhance the cacao. Overall the soft and dusty lightly sweetened cocao remains the main player all the way. Despite the name Boisee, I don’t find this obviously woody. The composition is gentle but strong at the same time and not as woody as the notes might suggest. All the notes are held in perfect balance to let the cocao sing as it should for the full duration. Projection is moderate overall for the first 4 hrs or so. It then gently softens after that to within arms reach with lovely wafts of soft sweet cacoa here and there still continuing 11hrs latter as I write this.
This is a scent I’m very glad I stuck with. Probably one of the best, most balanced cocoa scents I’ve had the pleasure of wearing where the cocao remains the star. I Love it!

ZoobzFrags

I love the smell. It's a little feminine but the cacao cardamom creaminess is really nice. It smells like a high end desert or cake to my nose. There is something very vintage that I really miss in this. It reminds me of Sauvage Elixir a little. The sillage and longevity are not the greatest. The longevity is actually pretty OK. It's still on me after 20 sprays 6 plus hours ago, but that is to be expected with that many sprays. The projection though really dies down after the first 45 minutes or so. It might be a maceration problem partly but it's mostly the composition itself. If anyone has any hacks on how to make it project and last more, I am down, please let me know.
UpdateThe performance on this is fine. It's not amazing but it is solid. It is on the quieter side and loses that punch from the opening. It lasts a solid 10 hours with 20 sprays but that is not a surprise. 10 sprays will probably get you about 6 to 7 hours. There are more expensive colognes with less sillage and longevity.

marsfragrance

This flanker of the Gentleman line takes a much more different approach than the EDP. It slightly reminds me of YSL’s La Nuit De L’Homme, but with far better performance and longevity. It’s pretty versatile as well, working well in a date or an office setting, since it’s pretty pleasant. I would definitely place this high in the designer fragrance realm.

MNadz

Much more wearable version of the sickeningly sweet EDP. Smoother, more refined, infinitely more versatile…for all the reasons I don’t like the EDP, are the reasons I love this.

Opens with sexy pepper/iris combo with the cacao peeking around the corner. As it dries, a creamy sandalwood adds to the iris/cacao combo making this super sexy and very “gentlemanly”. This embodies what the “gentleman” line should be based on.

Longevity on my skin is 8+ hours. Projection on me pushed beyond arms length for half that time before working it way back in. Insanely versatile…fall through spring and any occasion.

I really like all in this line except for the EDP (which I find marshmallowy sweet). I think Intense is the best…with this a close second. Don’t sleep on this one or the Intense…both are really good.

alexandrehomobono

Luckily I get awesome performance with this one. To me, it´s La Nuit De L'Homme minus cardamom and added iris and woods, but it's the same neighbourhood. I actually prefer Boiseé a bit. Works for office, dates, anywhere with a more professional/serious approaching will do the trick.

scented_thoughts

Disclaimer: only applied/tried the tester (don't own a bottle)

It's a clean, Iris, powdery, professional and somewhat aquatic and woody scent

The opening Top Notes: Sweet Amber, muted Iris
Heart Notes is mostly Sweet Amber, slightly Aquatic, slightly Iris
Base Notes are mainly a Powdery Iris, very slightly Peppery, woody Cedar

Good overall, though doesn't stand out to me or isn't spectacular in anyway (as compared to Dior Homme Eau for Men, which I've reviewed as well - which is a stronger, brighter, more complex Iris fragrance)

Nevertheless, a pleasing scent, won't offend, easy to wear for the office.

Projection and Sillage are strong: leaves a scent trail, projects arms-length or more
Longevity is good: 6 hours or more

Jay631

Love it, amazing smell and well worth the money.

It's a no brainer if you want a cheapy for work or if you want to save your niche fragrances for the big events.

Arber Cami

Another uninspiring flanker of the original Gentleman. Same powdery iris with a hint of woods in the background.
The iris in the Givenchy Gentleman line dont seem to work for me, although I love the Iris in the Dior Homme line. The iris here is waay to powdery and unisex leaning.

Aus11n

This one’s really solid. I’d still take the EDP and Reserve Privee over it though. They just perform better and are more interesting. I’d say this one’s a tad safer and more versatile than the other 2 but the other 2 will get you more pronounced reactions.

nicholassua

this is so close to the OG
a bit darker

The Wolf

This is good especially the the heart notes. If performance is important to you this performs better than any of the others from the gentleman line on my skin. My only beef with this is the drydown gives me Armani code vibes. Not that that's a bad thing as that is a proven DNA, but it's not super unique and I stopped wearing code a long time ago. Otherwise, this isn't bad.

JPBourdier

Gentleman EDT was good, but this EDP Boisée is even better.
The black pepper in the top of this is a nice contrast to the fruitier Gentleman EDT. The heart of the Boisée retains the Iris from the Gentleman EDT, but what really puts this one so far ahead is the rich cacao! All that over cedar and patchouli is a fragrance experience I always enjoy.

Aroma Bob

Im not into iris if its too prominant. In this fragrance it blends really well with the cedar. This is my favorite of the gentleman series sofar. Its fairly long lasting, great for office or casual outings.

Honkymagoo

I owned the EDT first and then snagged this later on discount. The EDT has a nice pear note that I enjoy but I was disappointed with how incredibly poor the performance was. I was surprised at the longevity and projection on the Boisée. I did a "sink test" with this one the other day and I was still getting hits of it in the bathroom a day later even after using the sink.

Now is this my favorite bottle in my collection? No. But it's solid. Probably won't blow your socks off or be something totally unique. Somewhat masculine leaning. Good for the price. I'll probably mix this into my rotation next fall as a dumb reach for work.

From my memory this is less iris forward than the EDP and less vanilla than the intense. I'm actually not sure what the main note I'm getting in this one is... I feel the iris and cacao and blending well here. Definitely smoother and notably less spicy than the EDT.

Mariano S

Bought a bottle a couple days ago to wear it for my wedding next month, even though I have a decent collection I wanted to get somenthing I have never worn before for such a special day and from the other options I had this just smelled like the perfect one, and also it had a great price. This stuff has such a mind blowing opening, which is the main reason I grabbed it, Its dark and mysterious but at the same time fresh, very woody but also slightly sweet, somewhat flowery but also spicy, with just the right amount of that characteristic iris, its truly a unique, refined and elegant smell, the only downside is that this lasts at most 25min, then I feel like it changes pretty quickly into somenthing darker and kinda generic that is really good and still classy but not even close to the magical opening that got me to buy it when I tested it in the store. That being said it does seem to last long with a decent sillage based on the testing ive done, Im still going to use it for my wedding since it retains a great deal of the woodiness during its evolution that im looking for that goes great with the setting where the ceremony is taking place... An open country big wooden building surrounded by trees at sunset , in a slightly warm but windy climate.

Vince1964

Very well crafted and refined, a beautifully balanced fragrance.
Love at first whiff, geranium, iris and cedar burst through and linger for hours. This is a brilliant fragrance that stands out from the crowd. Very warm very woody and exceedingly vibrant, more masculine but vivacious ladies may get away wearing this in the summer.
Overall, beautiful powerful woody and powdery enchantment in a bottle!

Subversive Element

Excellent, refined and well balanced fragrance that I love, but stopped wearing it due to its seriously subpar performance. Unfortunately on me it sits just on the skin and does not last or project long or strongly enough to justify my further investments in the scent.

PushyLemon

Smells rlly warm and woody for sure gonna pull some hoes but doesn’t last very long for me max 2h on skin but 10h+ on clothes. It used to project much better but after having the bottle for nearly a year and keeping it in my bag/drawer I feel like it doesn’t pack as strong of a punch as it used to. Other ppl are saying it projects good so maybe they got a different batch mine is from august 2021 overall very nice scent

MrDanish

To me, this is the worst of the Gentleman line-up in comparison with OG EdP and Intense.

I get the DNA, especially from Intense, but this is a drier and not that pleasant scent profile. It borderline annoys me and the drydown also doesn’t do any wonders.

I think it’s being over hyped on social media. It isn’t even that interesting.

I think Intense is a much better, more interesting and more pleasant smelling fragrance.

And the OG is also much better. I was about to blind buy Reserve Privée, but testing the Boisée made me realize that it’s too risky.

I’ll stick to buying OG EdP and Intense for now (yes, both).

Mjchaelj

Smelled this today and to me this seems like a manlier, less metrosexual version of the EDP which I own. It’s woodier and smells less like a powdery makeup bag. I really like it but not as much as the EDP which is more interesting.

9/10

btd069

Definitely pepper and spices up top. The iris smells much lighter to my nose than the other dark bottle flankers. The cacao to me isn't too prominent to me but is definitely there. The woods smell more heavy to me is this one but not as heavy as Givenchy Intense. Creaminess is definitely there from the sandalwood on the dry down. The patchouli is not the hippie kind.

Longevity seems decent, not a huge projector other than the first hour or 90 minutes. Just make sure you enjoy woods, this, as the name implies is more woody than the others that i have had the chance of smelling.

chrisk252

Woody, warm, cozy, hints of iris, cacao, and spices. Very nice and versatile. I generally prefer citrus aromatics or citrus woody but this one is very nice and comforting to wear. The cacao reminds me a bit of Guerlain Heritage, tho this one is more modern clean woodsy. Think I love it. I already have Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense, among other similar frags, so a question whether I need this, but I might.

Scent: 8.5 / Silalge: 8 / Longevity: 8

This is not a full review but more of a short comment praising the quality of Givenchy perfumes. I've been using this fragrance for over six months and it is admittedly not my favorite one, probably not even in my top 10, but I reach for it quite often. The scent profile is very nice, but I own a number of better alternatives from the same ballpark.
Where Boisée absolutely shines (together with Gentleman EDP) is performance. They last forever and project like crazy for several hours, leaving a massive trail. I also own L'Interdit Rouge and it performs similarly well. For a standard designer price, and they even regularly go on sale. I am aware that some of the offerings from the Gentleman line are notorious for bad performance, but the heavy, winter ones are stunningly good performers. Or at least the batches I own. I just wish many of the other frags where I paid upwards of 200€ for a bottle performed at least half this good.

In my opinion, Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée is huge bang for your buck.

For reference my batch is from August 2021 - 1H03.

First impressions: This is some absolutely magical stuff. WOW. Dark and mysterious but not overly sweet like many oriental style fragrances. I don't even usually like Iris, but everything about this one is phenomenal. It's still a bit bright and fresh while being thoroughly dark and seductive. Beautiful composition. They've perfected the sort of DNA that originated with Dior Homme, which is amazing but way too heavy on the Iris and gives that lipstick-y and really pungent, nose tickling aroma. SO, even if you normally don't like iris, this still may be worth testing. I really love it. The whole gentleman line is the only line with iris that I really love, but the EDT is just too sweet, though a really good scent. This one is perfect IMO.

Schmellin_Good

The first time I tried this I wasn't really impressed. I pulled my sample back out a couple of days ago and god damn, this just smells good.

It's much smoother than the EDP and fresher as well. It has just the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. Very easy to wear and won't offend anybody. I'd wear this when I feel Dior Homme Intense and/or Parfum would be a bit too dressed up.

gg23

This is a brighter, more floral Iris than the EDP, which is darker and has more of a gourmand vanilla facet to it. I own both and really like both, but this one seems weaker than the EDP. 8/10

CrazyFrag

Just tried this on today and WOW!

I own the edp and this one is the second Givenchy Gentleman I own. I am really digging Iris whereas at the beginning I kind of hated it. Anyway, I would say that Boisee is like a lighter, creamier version of edp.

Opens ups a bit spicy due to the black pepper and coriander, but the Orris/Iris and cacao already can be detected after some seconds. It’s just smooth and creamy. I get this lipsticky note from Iris, but not too much because it’s well blended with the cacao. Delicious. I wouldn’t say it’s gourmand like, but it’s really pleasant. Not a beast mode of projection, maybe the first 2-3 hours arms length, after that it sits close to you. Compared to edp, edp projects a bit longer (again, I still have to test it out more, but this is my initial impression). Concerning longevity, even if it’s close to your skin, it lasts quite long. So, 8+ hours. You can wear this all year round, but if you prefer fresher scents for summer then obviously this one isn’t it.

Verdict:
Scent: 8,5-9/10
Projection: 6/10
Longevity: 8/10
Overall (based on math): 7,5/10
Overall (based on MY opinion): 8,5-9/10

Add on: 29.03.22
Up to 5-6 hours you get a strong whiff in arms projection and after that it gets weaker. At the moment I’m writing this, it’s at the 8th hour mark: yes, you can still smell it, so longevity is great, but not as strong anymore. If I remember correctly, the edp is a bit better at projection, but again, I would wear boisee for a low key situations if that makes sense.

muscular

Similar to the rest of the givenchy gentlemen line, boisee is a EDP flanker that smells very spicy and strong. From the top, I get a lot of coriander and pepper smells, the top does dry down a little to expose more sweetness. I'll have to comment that I smell no iris, cacao nor woods, its quite a spicy green fragrance for me. The smell is very strong as well, making it suitable only for cold weather application.

In my opinion, givenchy seems to have messed up the notes on the gentlemen line. The reserve privee is the one with the cacao notes, not this. Like in other gentlemen lineup reviews, I also mentioned that this is very mature and even old smelling, do not expect this to be mass pleasing and please do not blind buy based on youtuber's reviews or fragrantica ratings. On a side note, it does smell a little like axe oil to me, except that its a very costly axe oil. This can be quite a repulsive scent, so do apply sparingly if you have a bottle, but it just isn't for me, nor can I understand its appeal.

Cassiano

@Detman101
In my opinion, Dior has much better performance, but Boisée has a more modern fragrance.

Detman101

@cassiano I am leaving Dior behind for greener (and more stable, less expensive) pastures. I had hoped to replace Dior Homme Intense with this fragrance (Gentleman Boisee). Would you say that this is a sufficient candidate?

Cassiano

Gentleman Boisée was also co-created by Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp and its fragrance is classified as woody-floral-spicy. The composition is rich and counts on nobler raw materials, such as black pepper from Madagascar and Vietnam, essences of coriander from Russia and Ukraine, and geranium from Egypt, at the start. The central part features iris concretes from China and Italy, cocoa, and cedar from Virginia. The base of the olfactory pyramid reveals sandalwood from Australia, burning woods, and patchouli from Indonesia.

On the skin, Gentleman Boisée brings together much of the DNA of the Eau de Parfum version but received a wood bath in place of the vanilla-balsamic accord of the latter. And in this aspect, I need to add a bit of information: this is the kind of woody scent that most men expect to know when they don't have much knowledge about the olfactory families. Unfortunately, fragrances full of syrupy cinnamon and laughable doses of cedar or sandalwood are often offered to them as good examples of woodsy. And the result ends up being a bad parameter of a good woody fragrance.

Gentleman Boisée opens with a lot of pepper and the coriander reinforces the spicy and sweeter characteristics of the initial accord. The cocoa is easily noticed and even shows itself from the very beginning, as if it were at the top of the composition. And like a good cocoa note, it brings that drier and hotter chocolate powder smell, which breaks the sweetness of a good chocolate truffle when sprinkled around it. More than that, cocoa here behaves as if it were a relative of cinnamon powder within the universe of chocolates. Can you imagine?

And you can't go any further with this Gentleman flanker, without mentioning the key ingredient since the pillar was revived in 2017: the iris. Again, absolutes were used to bring out a specific creaminess, like a thick butter, almost waxy. And as with the EDT version, the iris note here is neither uncomfortable nor overwhelming. It is smooth and sophisticated, perfect for those who cannot tolerate its powdery effect in excess. Many may think that the powdery facets come from it, but make no mistake: it is still the cocoa speaking the loudest.

The evolution is heading towards a kind of balsamic bonbon with a minty effect, which brings the softness of sandalwood and the fluffy richness of patchouli leaves, here woodier. Gentleman Boisée even behaves like a semi-gourmand perfume, especially in milder temperatures.

In terms of performance, Gentleman Boisée projects very poorly, staying very close to the skin. It's already clear to me that this is a positioning of the line since it was revived. But it lasts eight hours, without much effort, and despite looking like a more sober fragrance, it works well in corporate environments or on romantic occasions, without limiting the age group too much.

Finally, I can understand the comparisons with fragrances from the Dior Homme line, as well as from the Valentino Uomo line. But can those who have one give up the other? I don't think so. They have different results: one is more floral, the other is more gourmand and this one is woodier.

Gentleman Boisée was, without a doubt, one of the great launches of 2020, able to bring back that sparkle in the eyes of those who always eagerly awaited the launches of the most famous brands within the Designer segment. Today's gentleman wears iris, cocoa, and sandalwood and has an avatar on social media.

J_TheWombKilla

Mike Lowrey from Bad Boys for Life wears this.

Michael16

This is manly, sophisticated suited and booted.
The iris is smooth & buttery and the woods hug you deep in the dry down. Like others said, great winter/cold-weather scent but I can see this worn on cold evenings.
So unique, something real special about this one
8/10

Toluspinn

Smells a lot like D&G The One EDP, with better performance tho.

For a guy in his mid 30s, this suits my taste, Perfect scent for cold weather.

722frags

For me 20-30years old this is good however its more for the older crowd with its spicy touches. Probably spicebomb would be better for the younger boys.

Tamlin

I enjoyed the original (I mean the current EDP, not the older one), so as a man who gravitates towards woody fragrances, I was very curious to try this.

Alas, to me this is a more generic version of the original... It doesn't stand out as unique to me, rather it reminds me of many other fragrances. And that is kinda boring to me.

Also the musk is too strong for me in this fragrance.

I definitely prefer the original...

If you think the original is a bit too unisex for you, though, then you might wanna try this, because I find it much more masculine.

scentific

When I sampled this I went crazy over it, I thought it was the perfect woodsy / Christmassy scent. The more I got acquainted with it, the more I find in it other popular fragrances. Gentleman boisee is basically a very refined and extremely well mixed version of Issey Nuit d'Issey meet Joop (you get the sweetness of Joop with the woodsy accords of Nuit d'Issey). Not a bad fragrance especially for cold winter nights but not necessarily novel and unique

Marcjohn86

First day wearing this, and I like it. I don't love it, but you know it's the first day so it's very possible that I could change the like into a love, but this does deliver a pretty different sort of fragrance experience as it's not really completely similar to anything I've ever smelled. I'm gonna give it further wearings before I really say much more than that though, but this is an all seasons, signature scent type of fragrance that you can wear just about anywhere and for any occasions from dating to work to intimate situations.

amedenica

It's pleasant, sweet, irisy, office safe, dumb reach. It has good projection and longevity, and it won't overwhelm anyone around you. With all that being said, I'm not amused or drawn to it. I rarely reached for it at the beginning, and now I don't even notice it on the shelf. Generic and repetitive DNA.

Vat1cano

This is a classy, elegant, chocolate sweet, warm, woody scent. There's also a freshness to it as well. Perfect for fall and winter. You might be able to pull this off during summer. But I wouldn't use this during those really hot days. If you did.. One spray would be good.

This lasts all day. I actually prefer this over the Edp. The Edp opens up with that barber shop smell then you'll get a tobacco, vanilla smokey scent.. The Edp is a masterpiece of sexy classy manliness.the Edp can sit very heavy and give you a headache if you spray too much

But the boisee is sexy classy manly with chocolate sweetness.

Id pick the boisee over the Edp personally. It's very different and underrated.

Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée 💄💋🍫🪵
Wow. This is one of the best in 2021 for sure. The opening lipstick iris is so beautiful opening, very elegance and sexy, this is what metrosexual guys of today could smell like. Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée Is perfectly balance between sexy and luxurious, cacao in this very subtle make a bit of gourmand feeling, amber-wood is soft smooth and gentle sweetness, and reminded me a bit of Dior Homme edt. 2020
(I think this is Dior Homme 2020 with iris from original could smell).
Anyway, this is the weakest performance fragrances I owned entire my life( I swear 😭), projection is soft like skin scent from the first minute I applied, and longevity is bad, it’s last only 2-3 hours on me, and less than 1 and half hours in hot humid weather! How shame it is for the great smell scent. Yes. It’s still one of the best when talking about scent itself.

Scent: 9/10 ( Wow )
Projection: 3/10 ( Very very bad )
Longevity: 2/10 ( Worst longevity I have owned )

Just if it lasts long enough. 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe next time I will bathe in it.

Alexxxxx

This scent is absolutely glorious! I only wish it lasted longer. On my clothes I can smell it maybe 6-8 hours, but on my skin there’s literally nothing after a couple of hours (maximum), which is a great pity. Nevertheless, I love it and will continue to wear it regardless - it evokes the very essence of my childhood in Arabia!

Eppsie1018

Absolutely better than I could have imagined. This deserves recognition and respect. Very well done fragrance! The woods with iris makes for a delightful treat during intimacy. Magnificent fragrance at a super affordable price.

LW303

Just bought this one from a store cause it smelt nice on the tester strip. A very nice and underrated fragrance from Givenchy. Very woody and somewhat floral. More suited for formal wear and going to work. Performance is not beast-like but does the job. More for winter and autumn times and when the weather is colder. Overall 9/10 is very good and is not getting the recognition it deserves.

Patrick_Y

It reminds me of Korloff No Ordinary Man. I have them both and these perfumes smell very much the same :D

Milan17

This is a fantastic fragrance. I directly compared it in the store to Gentleman EDP for about 40 minutes and every time I smelled the strips, I much preferred the Boisée over the regular EDP. After the opening it smells like a woody D&G The One to me without the amber and tobacco, plus a little cacao. The iris I only smell briefly in the opening (my least favourite part to be honest) but it probably just blends in well after that. It also lasts nicely, especially on clothes.
It's worth more than a 4.12 in my opinion, definitely give this one a try.

caifan

Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée is a woody, spicy and powdery fragrance

The most notorious chords have been woody, with the characteristic iris of the entire new Gentleman line and a tone like dark chocolate, I guess it's cocoa. Its aroma is almost the same from beginning to end, and in this case I like it that way

The best season of the year to use it would be in fall, and for special events or outings with your couple, because it has a romantic feeling.

Its longevity was less than the Gentleman 2017 or the Eau De Parfum, reaching about 5 to 6 hours.

It reminded me a bit of The Scent Parfum Edition of Hugo Boss.

Manny44

This is the OG 2017 Gentleman with added iris and maybe a very light touch of cocoa powder. Those two added touches are a definite improvement on the original. I'm definitely going to get some use out of this now that the weather is cooler but I don't think this is a must try or blind buy worthy. It is good though, and masculine which is a plus since iris can be a little too unisex for me sometimes. I have the same issue with this that I had with the OG and with Carolina Herrera Prive and that's I can get sick of smelling that synthetic leather note. And I don't care that there is no leather note listed here...it's def here and it's the main note. Good, not necessarily a game-changer. Just trying to save someone from maybe blind buying a full bottle. 7.75 out of 10.

Edit: Wearing this on a gloomy grey 63 degree day and it's in its element. There is something about iris and violet leaf that works well in gloomy weather and moods IMO.
Final Update: Ultimately there are too many other frags I like better. I have a vintage LIDGE that beats the brakes of this. I'm changing my final rating to 7.2 out of 10. Buy a decant, don't blind buy. Just my opinion, not as great ( FOR ME!) as it is for many of you.

Madyana

Oh boy this is good!
I remember when I first tried the usual Gentleman scent, as if a thousand lamps were lit in my head; Can the scent really be made like this? I fell in love with the first sniff.
However, after getting to know the scent for a while, I noticed that I didn’t love that scent so much anymore, it dried, to my taste, a little too smooth, quite ordinary vanilla sweet scent for women too, and that’s why I forgot that wonderful scent until I came across with this one;
The Iris here fills that original "deficiency" and this baby gives a little more too; the chocolate here is not in the main parts, but still: there it is!
I am so enchanted by this Givenchy, this has become my favorite fragrance on this fall.
I think this definitely leans on the masculine side, but given the current new women’s releases, I don’t see any problem with a woman using this either. In my mind, on top of a feminine woman this could be a attracted businesslike scent, but on a man... this smells like melted sex. Just wow.

Samir66

This smells so good!

This Gentleman lineup gets better with each new release. I just picked this up finally & boy am I glad!
Just my opinion but this could easily be signature worthy, as long as you’re in a climate controlled environment. It’s Spring-time now in Sydney so I’m eager to test this out. It’s just so good. I don’t want to shelve this beauty till fall!

This has excellent performance:
8+ hours

Projection:
Pushes out the first hour or so. Afterwards, you have a scent bubble 1-2 metres for the duration of the fragrance. (Depends on how many sprays.)

Sillage:
The duration of the fragrance. As you move, you will catch wafts, as will others.

For me this is backup bottle worthy!

10/10 👍🏾

joeteazo

This is stunning. Beautiful chocolate digestive biscuit with a soft iris touch. What a well dressed gent looks for in a gourmand

BillHader

Damn that's good.

jamesvt007

A very masculine fall fragrance. Decent performance. Probably the best of the the gentleman line.

[AUG. 2021]
One of the best quality-to-budget AND
easily locally found fragrances so far. Sheesh. I did not except such a well-put together scent from a nondescript-sleek packaging like this! Deliciously quiet whispery patchouli and creamy bitersweet irisflower-chocolate coffee with a bite of geranium and cedar for a nice touch... same sweetness as Baraonda by Nasomatto but remember Givenchy is not Nasomatto's deliriously hyperreal and 5-star oak whisky, Givenchy's Gentleman is an upper-market midnight espresso for the night-loungers huddled in their steely bars and their cedarwood-slatestoned living rooms.

This has officially dethroned my previous standard quality-reference fragrance (Frapin's Orchid Man);
Givenchy's Gentleman is what Rochas' Man
should have been! Saved me from paying so much for a bottle of Louis Vuitton's Orage too (which I find is the best citrus fragrance I've tried in stores just yet.)

Thanks to David Jones for gifting me a sample of this from my purchase of Tom Ford's Oud Wood and Acqua di Parma's Rosa EDT to change my mind about the current state of new colognes.

PS: I recommend mocha coffee-loving women try this too (sorry to guys looking for a smoky burnt undertone with their coffee-- Gentleman is more midly warm than fresh-out-of-espresso-presser hot... try Sensei by Piotr or any by Kyse Parfums) , anyway... especially with a similar delicious tone of what I feel just beats Gentleman by a semi-margin with better ingredients-- please try Lubin's Upper Ten For Her!

tony1c

I created an account just to say how wonderful this fragrance smells.

tylrmrtn98

I tested this on paper in Ulta. Sheeeeesh this smells masculine, mature, mass appealing, and deserves more praise imo. I definitely will be copping this soon. This smells like you have your life together and are going places.

Umairaman

Imagine smelling fresh pencil shavings along with a lipstick and some pepper.Although the iris isnt super lipsticky like in dior homme intense. This could be a great scent to dip your toes into iris fragrances.

u46esp

Feels like the mix between Dior Homme 2011 and D&G The one edp.

----- Update -----

Now that I wore it fully I felt like this is Olivier Cresp's 2nd attempt at L'instant de Guerlain DNA. The dry cocoa with slight creamy woody is very distinctive remind me very strongly of LIDG pour homme. It's more sweet, more modern, less sharp and heavy now that incense / patchouli is toned down and replaced by Iris. Feels like a blend between Guerlain and Dior Homme that's just right.

Modern, masculine but not too serious.

Slava29

When you own 150 fragrances, it's really hard to be impressed anymore, but this is VERY nice and I don't understand the mediocre 4.04 rating. The EDP is rated 4.22 and I think this should be much closer to that, but I suspect the woodiness has put off some people who are looking for Iris with this line. So yes, this doesnt rely on Iris quite as much, but it blends the woody notes with the Iris perfectly and there is still plenty of powdery Iris. Performance is great, scent is great and the price is reasonable so this would be a good purchase for most people - if you can find it.

yua77721

Smells smooth and high quality
Very intense scent
Performance is ok 5-7 hours
I really like this scent very likeable and easy to use

Will.T

Fantastic spicy-woodsy fragrance. I have the Gentleman Cologne and love it so I knew I had to get my nose on this. Has a bigger opening but calms down in the dry down. Not obnoxiously sweet and the iris helps keep this clean. Great for the cooler weather but would be cautious in high heat. Only complaint would be that for a fragrance named “boisee” it isn’t as foresty as I would have liked, the sandalwood is for sure the dominant wood.

For those complaining about terrible performance issues , I’m thinking they must be going noseblind or have a bad batch. I do three sprays (1 behind each ear and back of neck) and it projects 4-5 feet and lingers momentarily after I depart. This lasts for at least 6 hours before the sillage starts to become more intimate.

lwhaymand

This feels quite similar to Givenchy Gentleman EDP (surprise surprise) but with a few differences. They're both powdery, sweet iris fragrances, but as the EDP dries down, it becomes sweeter and more resinous with the balsam, benzoin etc. Contrastingly, Boisée goes in a soft, woodier direction. It's also not as sweet as it lacks that prominent vanilla note, instead with the cacao which is slightly more bitter, like dark chocolate. I've heard Boisée described as Givenchy Gentleman EDP mixed with D&G The One EDP, and I do get that. Boisée does have a slightly more mainstream designer vibe to it, which is not a bad thing as it might get better feedback from those around you. The kicker for me is that the performance of this is worse than Gentleman EDP, and I don't think the difference in scent compensates for the poorer performance.

jayo4K

Amazing fragrance, my favorite in the Gentleman line.

I hate when people call this "generic". Yes it may smell similar to some other iris based fragrances out there, but it's definitely unique enough to stand out, and damn does it smell good. It has such a great balance of sweet and spicy notes, where the opening is fresh but with a spicy undertone. It dries down to the iris, patchouli, and woods, which gives off a very warm and cozy vibe. Naming this "boisee" however, could be misleading, as I don't really think the woodsy notes stand out enough to dedicate the name to it.

This thing has great longevity too. On my skin it lasts for about 8 hours (12+ hours on clothes), and I have the type of skin that usually eats up fragrances very quickly. I personally believe it can be worn year round, with the exception of hot summer days (cooler summer nights with a nice breeze would work very well).

Overall 9/10

OhTheParfum ♥

one word for this: Classy!

LackOfCommonScents

Great opening, but the performance is horrendously bad, unfortunately.

Chesco

Decent. Not bad, but also not game-changing mind-blowing addicting.

Woody/cologne cliché patchouli/iris/spice aromatic

I like it, i don't love it. Can be signature worthy for someone.
Because im in love with the better take on this note combo 'Valentino - Uomo Intense'

3/5 Woofs

Aceman2000

This stuff is great, I love it. It’s warm and spicy. Unique in my opinion. Great for colder weather. Can be worn for any occasion. A great addition to my collection.

nidhal

classy , elegant ans sexy with naughty vibe
smeel like a burnt vanilla with some dark note that's sound bad yet it works
but the sillage and longevity is a above medium

sergiuniculescu

Too feminine for me...

muhaminemeb

I cherish this one

sledgeharvy

Hello everyone, just wanted to give my thoughts on this one.

Just as I do the rest of the Gentleman line, I love it. Something about the Iris just works on my skin so perfectly. The thing about this one appears to be the versatility of this one.
Similar to Gentleman Cologne, there is a brightness in Boisee that lasts the duration of the fragrance. In fact, if it wasn’t for the hint of smokiness this would be an easy wear anytime of year. It isn’t a strong smokiness as found in other favorites such as in Bentley for men intense, but nevertheless still there enough to notice on a 80+ degree Fahrenheit day. And besides, since Gentleman Cologne exists, clearly, it wasn’t Givenchy’s plan for us to wear it during the Summer months. Therefore, Spring/Fall are the best times to wear this one. Yes, it works perfectly in Winter as well. But again, Givenchy probably expects us to wear Gentleman EDP over Boisee.

It just works so nicely on clothes. I have a night shirt I wear only to bed. Meaning I wear it multiple nights in a row without washing it. I sprayed it one night as a trial, and fell in love with it. Every time I go to wear that night shirt, I get that whiff of Boisee. I love it. Therefore, it’s hard for me to not want to wear it. I’ve been going through my 100ml bottle so quickly, as I have with the entire line. It’s just an amazing line.

Longevity isn't as terrible as some would make it out to be. So I will be as clear as I can be. The moniker “Gentleman” is what people have to keep in mind. A Gentleman shouldn’t shout, just let his presence be known. This does that perfectly. If I spray my clothes, once on each forearm, and one on each shoulder, I notice I don’t go anosmic to it. If air spray around my head/neck region, I go anosmic after an hour, because I will take my mask off and there it is. So I highly recommend to everyone, Don’t spray around your head region if you are one of those who claims, it’s gone after 10 minutes. Another thing, DON’T bury your nose into the region you applied the fragrance. Again, you WILL go anosmic to it. Just because you don't smell it, doesn’t mean everyone else can’t. I have been told various times this by co-workers.

Givenchy again, sticking to the moniker Gentleman nailed it.

Vjm48315

Beautiful for about 15 minutes, then just disappears.

Flamma

This is sooooooo good!!
It's irisy, sweet, a little dark and woody, it's fantastic.
More similar to the EDP than the EDT but with more patchouli. The whole line is honestly amazing, all of them are worth owning but if you like patchouli this is the one you should get first.

Fragrantguy

My new favorite scent. Woody, iris, and mildly spicy. With a touch of powder. This is better than the original Gentleman (circa 2017) this has a more masculine and elegant vibe. Not as sweet as the original and not as bitter as Eau De Parfum. This is just right. Only issue is longevity. It doesn’t project and doesn’t last. It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful fragrance.

Matías Ross

Just got my bottle and oh boy, this smells 90% like zara pour homme lll. And don't get me wrong, i have the fragances listed below as well. I have Prada L'homme, Dior Homme Eau and Ferragamo Uomo, but nope, this is not like that. Anyways, i bought this because i have gentleman edp and gentleman cologne and i love them both. This is quite different yet very elegant and gentleman'ish, i can see myself picking this up for a date rather than the EDP or the Cologne. The iris is definitely there from the begining, as for the cacao: i can smell it in the drydown after an hour. Very pleasant scent, i just wish this projected a little more. But i'll recommend iris lovers to give this a shot, it's a different twist on iris based fragances.

overall: 7.5/10

cvaile

OVRLDD - you are spot on, like a 50/50 mix of Prada L'Homme and Ferragamo Uomo (either original or Signature) - perfect description.

jarrid_steel

I absolutely adore this fragrance. Smells expensive, formal and elegant. Lasts about 10 hours on my skin and projects within about 6 feet for the first hour and a half and then in the dry down fades to about within arms reach. A lot of people are giving this negative reviews and I couldn't disagree more. I own Gentleman EDP and like the EDP Boisee quite a bit more. Both are fantastic fragrances but there's just something about the Boisee that I find intoxicating and addictive. I tried several samples and tested in on my skin for several wearings before buying the bottle and I do not regret it. There's a woman in my office who loves fragrances as well and when I sprayed this for her to smell she loved it. I asked what she'd score it 1 to 10 and she unhesitatingly said, "11". Best designer release of 2020 by far.

OVRLDD

Take Prada L'Homme, and mix it with a bit of Ferragamo Uomo Signature, and oualá! An elegant mix of clean scent with some cocoa trails.

For someone like me, who wanted a Prada L'Homme alternative for winter season, this really got my liking. The opening is great and the longevity is decent- 7 hours after putting one spray, I still have it on my skin. The cocoa adds some darkness to the amazing iris+sandalwood, making it perfect fit for colder days. The only downside, which is a big one, is that the drydown is very different from the opening, and very lack-luster when comparing both of them.

I recommend trying this for people looking for something elegant, but a bit gourmandish. It doesn't resemble much Gentleman EDP at all for me, which can be good, if you weren't a big fan of it, but also can be disappointing for someone who was looking for a similar flanker . Still, worth to try it out for sure!

Guitar 2016

It's a generic fragrance, It opens up with like pepper spicy then dry down is woody. This perfume is not special and it's boring. Don't blind-buy it.

Rating : 6/10

Boisée is a worthy flanker to Gentleman 2017 (which is one of my favorite designer launches in the past 5 years).  Boisée takes the pear, iris, and lavender accord of the original and adds a very sophisticated woody character.  The sandalwood reminds me a lot of Feminite du Bois -- dry and dusty but also sweet, with warm gourmand-spiciness.  Gentleman Boisée smells very polished and expensive, but I do agree with the other commenters who said that this suffers from disappointing longevity.  It's still something that I will enjoy wearing though, especially around the holidays.

Dingleberries

The opening smells so damn good! But it doesn't last. After about 30 mins this shifts becomes a skin scent and starts to remind me of Dolce & Gabbana the one EDP and Dior homme Eau a tiny bit! This had so much potential to be incredible like the previous release but it falls flat very quickly

TrephineArtist

Initially from the paper strip I thought 'yes this is good!' and so I asked the SA to spray my arm. Still good at first but then very quickly it becomes extremely familiar. Too familiar.

I'm not a fragrance snob (quite the opposite, I love inexpensive scents the most) but this doesn't to my nose smell expensive, but then I guess with these kinds of brands you do have to factor in 'paying for the name' etc. Plus LVMH brands I find over priced anyway (as with Chanel). This just seems to be lacking something.

From the name I was expecting a more woody scent but it really seems to be a diluted iris scent. I suppose a watery variant of the regular powerhouse EDP more suitable for warmer weather. Personally though I find the DNA of this line as well as being an acquired taste, is much more effective and suitable for the cold weather and for that the regular EDP with it's strong vanilla is the way to go.

I think for anyone else, especially those who 'really' like iris based scents this is worth a try at least.

Edit; I find this becomes much nicer later in the dry down. It's not bad.

A pleasant, if a bit boring, addition to the range. There just isn't much to it - pleasant fresh woods in the forefront that disappear all too quickly into sandalwood. Sillage and longevity is very poor for an EDP. Every time I wear this one I feel its impact is lost unlike the hugely distinctive fragrances that join it in the Gentleman range. I'd opt for those fragrances over this one any day.

I think if this were a bit stronger the more oriental, floral side of this would be more pronounced but you really have to layer it on for it to have any impact and at that point it cloys up. The drydown is nice, but too brief. I like this fragrance but it certainly doesn't impress me.

Some quick thoughts while testing on my arm. This scent is so familiar, especially as the top begins to fade.

Givenchy’s take on Dior Homme Eau.

The coriander is there, definitely, but it’s less pronounced. The rest is woods, patch, and sweet iris. This is less summer than DHE, though, *much* less summer.

Very very bad longevity,I tested this for 3 days and the sillage is almost 0. Nobody I asked could smell it from half a meter and I gave it everytime around 6 to 8 sprays, even 10. I mean,do you have to put half the bottle these days for somebody to poorly smell it on you??? DON'T understand some of these new releases.

GoldIris

Boring release, nothing special and average longevity with soft to average projection.

Givenchy Gentleman EDP is really quite good at what it does, and I have a bottle. Unfortunately throwing in a ton of ambroxan into the formula does not make for pleasant experience with this one. It's so screechingly synthetic from the first spray and that ambroxan hangs on in there ruining and overpowering all the iris and cacao notes from the EDP. This is lazy modern perfumery at its worst.

Hugo Montez

Fresh Woods in the opening, dries down to a synthetic sandalwood with a little bit of patch and iris. Not bad, but nothing creative here. Edp and cologne are still better than this, in my opinion.
Edit: there's a freshness, almost minty, note in the drydown. Probably the geranium. Not a big fan.

So glad I leaned on my vintage 80's GIVENCHY Gentleman to get me through when the revamped one came out just about three years ago. I feared even the 2018 EDP release (new black bottle) wouldn't quite "hold a candle" to the OG EDT released in the mid-1970's.

Now that I see THIS is out I think it will be the only mod EDP of Gentleman that I care to add to my collection! At least it would seem that this House is getting back to their roots and (mayhaps?) getting rid of that "Gentleman Only" line-it was okay; but, honestly had nothing (and I mean NOTHING) to do with it's brutally beautiful namesake!

PS: It's damn close to the whole Miss Dior/Miss Dior Cherie (cum Miss Dior Originale & Miss Dior EDT/EDP, Absolutely Blooming and Blooming Bouquet!) debacle where you take a good iconic scent and flank it (or grand-flank it) then change the name all around.

Is this to confuse the consumer? (If they liked one maybe they'll like, in other words buy, all of them.)

Or is it just a quick money-grab with some Johnny-Come-Lately jus that cashes in on an already much loved and very appreciated fragrance, when having nothing in common (other than bergamot, woods and musks!) with the legendary pillar fragrance? (Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery but slapping the same label on a similar, slightly modified, bottle is neither imitative nor flattering-only insulting to the true fragrance fan and a dim reflection of a some pretty weak creative direction and implementation).

The whole "Gentleman Only" would have been much more warmly received by this rabid parfumista had it been called something like Panache de Givenchy or G by Givenchy even. ANYTHING but thaaaaat!
