Un Jardin Sur La Lagune by Hermès is a Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. Un Jardin Sur La Lagune was launched in 2019. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel.

Hermès presents news coming from the Jardin Collection - Un Jardin sur la Lagune - launching in March 2019. The illustration for the packaging of the new perfume is signed by the famous Bosnian artist Safet Zec. The fragrance is conceived as vibrant, caressing, distinctive and a bit nostalgic.

Un Jardin sur la Lagune leads us to Venice and reveals the magic of a hidden place behind a stone wall. Perfumer Christine Nagel uses floral notes of magnolia and Madonna lily along with sea and wood nuances to conjure up a secret garden on the water. The story is about a mysterious garden that an English Lord built on the water, inside a lagoon in Venice.

Notes: magnolia, pittosporum, Madonna lily, sea breeze, samphire, woody notes.

Hermès Un Jardin Sur La Lagune will be available in a heavy glass bottle as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Maybe I got a bad decant but in my opinion this is very screechy on my skin. Reminds me of a generic men's cologne that I've smelled before, dare I say old spice body spray territory. Sample first. I love Sur le Nil, and can't wait to try en Mediterranee..

Justin Ninja

This was instant love for me. I have lived in so many humid places in my life, and this is incredibly nostalgic. The perfumer here has captured the fragrance of the Madonna lilly quite well. However, I believe this is a representation of the lilly at night, because during the day they smell very clove like, and not heady and green like this. Pittosporum flowers are also here, captured quite well. The magnolia note is not fully developed: it lacks the subtle piney nature of true magnolia flowers.
What baffles me about the official note breakdown of this perfume is the lack of a powdery note. I distinctly smell a baby powder/ talcum/ pollen sweet note leaning towards oleander in the top to mid notes. I'm quite familiar with the floral notes listed here, and none of them smell powdery.
The sea notes and amber make themselves much more noticable in the dry down. Yes, the "sea notes" are salty, but they verge into "marine" territory. There is a note reminiscent of stagnant water-- in the best way-- of roots covered in moss, submerged,-- of fresh seaweed in a nearby sea.
There are not many gardens in Venice. I've read that the perfumer (Christine Nagel) traveled to a private garden in Venice as inspiration for this. Although I've never been to Venice, I would say that she captured this idea very well. I've been to quite similar gardens: swampy gardens in Georgia, where pittosporum and cypress trees thrive. Or, the oceanside gardens of the Florida coast, booming with magnolia, or lemon scented brugmansia. All of these places, to my nose, had a marine, vegetal funk to them, quite like this fragrance. Perhaps, the perfumer chose to add an unlisted oleander note to clean up these notes.
My hats are off to Miss Nagel for continuing the Jardin line so well. However, she very much disappointed me with her next release: Un Jardin a Cythere. Perhaps it was the combination of Pistachio and Olive Tree that created an unshakable grainy smell of stale cereal milk. More specifically, Froot Loops.
However, this review is not about the other fragrance. I have worn this fragrance once a week since it's release, so it's fair to say I like it. It is absolutely unisex, and appropriate for every season. However, if you are averse to powdery and or/ marine notes: don't get this.
I intensely love this combination of smells, so I imagine myself buying more bottles in years to come. I'm betting on the prices going down, as this fragrance is not mass appealing. Good for me. 💗

This smells like home. I live in the Azores islands, very green volcanic islands in the North Atlantic with loads of Pitosporum. This smells like a walk near the coastline in early spring, walking by Pitosporum trees in full bloom, while being hit by the salty water in the breeze. Maybe because I strongly associate the smell of Pitosporum flowers to early spring,... for me this is more for cooler days than for peak summer heat.

Keeping with the theme of my volcanic islands, other favourites from the Jardin line (that I already own full bottles) are: Jardin en Mediterranee (smells like sitting under a fig tree, on rocks heated by the summer sun), and Jardin sur le Toit (smells like a cool and wet Spring morning in an Orchard).

saramariah

Gorgeous summery scent. I really feel like im sitting in a hidden lagun surrounded by clear turquoise blue water 😌

TipTopNotes

My least favorite of Hermes’s Jardin line, unfortunately. In what may seem to be an oxymoron, this smells both very strong and also like a barely-scented, yet still salty and thick lotion/sunscreen in an unpleasant way. Heavily leans feminine in a line full of mostly gender-ambiguous fragrances. Gifted my decant to my mother whom appreciates it a little more than I do.

daffodilsandcoffee

Venice is my favorite city in the world, and I so wanted to love this fragrance. I love the aquatic note because it's not your typical marine fragrance and the salt really does smell like flaky sea salt crystals. Where it goes south for me is the magnolia. She can be headache inducing and if it weren't for that note, I would definitely appreciate this more.

AScentIsAStory

I'm selling my bottle of this fragrance! It's very gently used, new and almost full. The scent doesn't work very well for my taste – nothing defective about the product.

kris-tine

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT! This is definitely my favorite Jardin. It lasts eternally on my skin, it smells so good, like I'm in a all-inclusive resort by the beach. And it's so addicting, I can't stop smelling it. I can see a beautiful bride wearing this gem on her special day.

addangel

a very interesting scent. definitely more swampy than marine to my nose, like wet, musty, decomposing foliage, with the light sweetness of rot, but somehow still quite addicting. I think it would shine best in autumn.

flor_hechicera

Smells like salty white flowers. Clean, inoffensive, like a spa or hotel soap scent. There's something almost baby-powdery about it too. I don't love it and I don't think it's exactly my vibe but it smells pleasant and it doesn't bother the sensitive noses around me so it's easy to reach for when going out for the day.

greshnovato

I simply adore this, it has quickly became my favourite. The scent is quiet, elegant, inoffensive, but unique and memorable, I could not confuse it with anything else. I've tested Twilly and Eau de Merveilles Bleu, and found absolutely nothing in common. La Lagune does not require any special circumstances to wear, it's not a pretentious scent, casual and elegant at the same time. There is moderate sweetness from white flowers, and there is some special kind of freshness, not green or herbal or aquatic kind, but as from cool dry wood in the wind. I don't notice any sea notes though. Decent longevity, much better than Nile or Mr.Li. It lingers most on hair, and I like how it dries down on them. There are still cool, fresh flowers even in the very end.

Nautigal

A new favorite for everyday type of wear. I get a sweet floral to start that quickly settles down to a salty, ocean air vibe. Normally this is a scent that I would avoid for myself as I find it more masculine. In this case, there is something that softens it up, making it much more feminine. It lasts all day on me, and wears close so as not to be overwhelming for others.

Timaka

I simply love this scent! It's really comforting and reminds me of the blue tin Nivea cream. Definitely on my wants-list!

2bClare

Love this. Very marine, salty fragrance with just the right amount of swampiness. Lay over top of that some beautiful white flowers that are just past perfection, so their fragrance is starting to have the tiniest hint of decay. And then add a twist of lemon. When this first came out it smelled like nothing else out there to me, and nothing like the past perfumer of Hermès, Jean Claude Ellena’s subtle fragrances. I appreciated it for that very reason. I guess other people didn’t since there was an uproar about it but hey it’s good to have something a bit different in a line of fragrances. There are other fragrances now that are similar. Future Society’s grassland opera reminds of this and even the back story of that is a little similar- flowers on an island.

FreddieMercury'sCat

This may sound counterintuitive, but I think that this fragrance really shines in colder weather. I wore this fragrance all through a blazing hot summer, and I hadn’t touched it again since. For some reason, now that the weather is cold, I decided to reach for it once more. There’s something about that just makes it perform better in the cold. The fragrance is sharper. More crisp.

I can understand how this may be viewed as an old fashioned sort of scent. But to me, it’s actually just timeless and elegant. The marine notes add some modernity to it. Definitely suits a grown person. I wouldn’t wear this as a teenager or a person in my 20s. The lily is the star of the show, and the rest of the notes work around it. Despite its simplicity, something about it feels rich.

aleenna

On my skin it smells heavily like some cheap, old fashioned and strong smelling soap, I didn't like it at all. After washing, the persistent soap smell receded and it didn't bother me so much anymore. But it's definitely a no no for me.

Perfume Zeppelin

In a strange way this reminds me of some scents from the 80s - particularly Worth Pour Homme. Sadly it is spoiled by the ubiquitous white musk notes that almost all the modern Hermes perfumes have (though, not as dominating as in Monsieur Li, Galop etc).

D@ne's review says it perfectly.

D@ne

This has such a lovely jasmine-y topnote. It fades quickly though and what lurks beneath is a bizarre, ozonic accord completely engulfed in Nagel's favourite woody-amber that plagues so many of her fragrances (see Citron Noir, H24, Twilly Eau Poivrée).

I can't fathom how such an amazing perfumer can be so blind to the sheer brute-force of these nasty chemicals. There are other ways of making a fragrance shine without singeing your nostrils.

lmnsvgz

It smells like sea! Not too mineralic - just light salt with magnolia petals. It's so beautiful and a very wearable salt scent

Ifaria

I absolutely love this fragrance! However, to me, there’s nothing aquatic about it - it is light, I’d say maybe even airy, but above all woody, powdery, with very light hints of florals. It reminds me of Prada Infusion de Cedre or d’Iris, but softer and more refined. Very elegant but discreet, relaxed/-ing fragrance.

Tee

fresh white florals (almost jasmine) and light woodsy aquatic notes. light yet it’s there. i find this very calming and beautiful.

i’d say white floral forward than aquatic forward

smelling.sniffing.swan

Very yummy.
I'm not getting as much of a marine vibe as others seem to. Certainly some dampness/swampiness and a touch of sand.
Some citrus; mandarin, orange blossom. And magnolia with waterlilies.
A nice nutty woodiness underneath, maybe a hint of vanilla essence.

VERDICT: Really loved this for the first hour, but finding the florals a bit cloying now. Elegant nonetheless.

tiana360

At first the aquatic woods really stood out to me, and I absolutely loved it. A garden by the lagoon indeed. On paper it smelt like a dream so I picked up a full bottle. On my skin it’s a different story. I hate to say it but the white florals (incredible curation, by the way) are not blended fantastically in with the other elements. I’m almost smelling two different perfumes at the same time, one distinctly woody fresh and the other distinctly aromatic floral - and they are not comfortably coexisting. It is a fun fragrance though, I can’t say I’ve smelt anything quite like it. I usually do not gravitate towards white floral dominated scents, but the selection here is unusual and foreign enough to please. There’s definitely a subtle powdery element to it with a slight metallic tang at the end.

Thranduilseyebrows

too white floral for me... 3/5

Finka227

Bought this one today and oh my it’s so elegant, expensive body lotion, sensual, sexy, feminine, clean yet sophisticated. One of my Best Buy’s it’s not new but it has a soul of its own. Well blended

Odor Aeternitatis

I am a big fan of the Un Jardin collection; the fragrances of this line truly uplift my mood. And I also like Christine Nagel styles in perfumery. This fragrance is aquatic (not a typical aquatic) and floral. It is very calm and uplifting. If you don't like aquatic or even floral perfumes, try this one.
What I like about this fragrance is the choice of white floral which is not the usual suspects, jasmine or neroli, but less famous ones magnolia, lily, and pitosporum. I think she chose these to match with the sea note. I don't know how but it gives me frankly a vibe of a garden near a sea. Amazing fragrance.
7/10

mewtwojenkins

I don't think this reacts well to my skin because to me this just smells like a baby sitting by a pool. I'm sure other people would enjoy that, but the combination of powder and floral just about makes me gag. When I got this, I didn't see powder in any of the descriptions, but that's just about all I smell!

kittylitter18

Really nice and unique scent. Wore it constantly this summer - I loved it when I was spending time outside on those super hot, humid days that turn into cooler evenings. At first it's a floral scent that fades into a more aquatic/by-the-sea vibe. Overall, it's a gentle and inoffensive scent (which means great wearability), and I would recommend this to others!

JoyO

It just does not work for me. Smells like many other mid-range men's scents. Nothing distinctive IMHO. I very much wanted to love it because it's supposedly meant evoke my favourite city in the world - Venice! But I am so glad I only purchased a sample size. I'll just use it up but will not buy again.

JmThms

OK, so as I go through each fragrance in this Jardin line, I'm dividing into two categories: full bottle worthy and not. With only La Cythere left to test, I've deemed Sur Le Nil, En Méditerranée, and Sur Le Toit full bottle worthy. Apres La Mousson, Monsieur Li, and this Sur La Lagune as non full bottle worthy. Sur La Lagune is a fairly nice (not "incredible" as some opine) aquatic-like fragrance with a comforting floral base. Is it a distinctive scent with a humid quality? Well, I don't think it's very distinctive in the genre, and if by "humid" we mean "watery" then yes. Whereas Apres Le Mousson is supposed to conjure a garden after a rainfall, Sur La Lagune is, apparently, designed to conjure a garden ON water. It is a modestly pleasant and smooth somewhat woody aquatic with florals. It's pretty much in accordance with the profile of the Jardin line. Very soft sillage and longevity are on par with Jardin collection. Some describe this line as an array of watercolor scents, so like mixing color pigments and water, it's as if the aroma molecules are diluted in water. The more water there is, the lighter the scent. There is an aesthetic purpose there that can be appreciated, but a lot of this line just come across as modestly pleasant in scent profile and watered off in performance. "Texture and feeling play important role in fragrance" - as the AI-generated "Pro" says above - and that manifests in these watercolor scents. But Sur La Lagune and the other two I won't buy just don't wow me enough.

stillalive

Oh, this is phenomenal! I love fragrances that smell a little unexpected and complicated, and bonus points if they can be worn year-round in a hot climate. This checks all the boxes! It's outstandingly unique while also being extraordinarily balanced. The sillage is surprising for an EDT. I adore a good warm-weather scent that branches outside the straight up "clean" or citrus notes.

La Lagune has a similar vibe to Bath and Body Works In the Stars: sort of a woody skin-salt citrus-aquatic lily fragrance that pleasantly surprises and refreshes every time you sniff yourself. This smells like good, clean sweat and a hint of sporty detergent while I run through a summer storm. Or maybe it's the whiff of ozone, lightning-struck driftwood, and sports sunscreen (not the coconut stuff) spiraling down my legs in rivulets as I walk from the ocean to my flip-flops under heavy bruise-colored clouds. It smells like cuddling up with an exhausted little one in a tent on a cool fall night, burying your nose into their damp curls and smelling lake and sun and a little bit of leave-in detangler.

This is an instant mood-booster for me, and one of my favorite scents I've ever sniffed. I'm going to need to give this several more test drives ASAP!

Hamza_Chaudry03

My mother uses this one. I initially purchased it for myself, but found it too féminine. Being an Eau De Toilette, it has monstrous performance and projection. No clue how, but maybe I got my hands on a solid batch. If you ever get to sample YSL Myslef, you will see the both are very similar haha!

Mimachan

I don't understand why people rate this 3,6. This is one of the most beautiful parfume from Hermes. For me, it smells powdery with hint of woody notes combine with the beautiful white floral. It smells bit of lipsticky on my skin like an old fashion lipstick scents in a beautiful way.

Out of all Un Jardin series, this one last around 7 hours and more on me. When I spray in on my neck and the parfume get stick on my hair, it can last 2 days even after I wash my hair, I can still smell it on my hair

beaucafea

It was a gift from my aunt and while this is not my typical scent, I really really like it. It smells very... clean. Classy and elegant.

aaalicia

Obsessed! So fresh and clean, reminds me of fresh fluffy warm towels or a cashmere blanket on a balcony. So comforting and relaxing, I wear this one when I know my work day is going to be hard just for those little moments of zen when I smell it.

I can see how it would lean more Spring/Summer but I don't think this would feel out of place in Fall or Winter either, it's just such a soft, cozy scent. No real warm notes to it, but still comfortable!

Znuramalia

after sorting a longlist of my wedding scent, I choose this to be the one for my most important day in my life. a little context is that I married early May this year (2023) and it was relatively a bit chilly and I married in the municipality in Amsterdam. I thought it's the perfect one.

first of all, it makes me feels feminine.. it's very fairytale-like feeling lot's of flowers in the salty air (literally transporting you to a garden by a lagoon) and not offensive, perfect for a formal ceremony. a bit of a change for someone who loves spicy and loud fragrance. So yes, it is a mature scent but I can see a teenager wearing this on a spring/summer holiday.

also.. every time I smell this, I feel like being hugged by my late mother. that's how comforting this perfume is.

amgenus2015

This is a more mature smell. It definitely feels like it should be worn in the summer, but I personally could not imagine an occasion that would require me to wear this.

Paintedtrillium

Testing this today and on the blotter I get the marine salt air breeze. There are beautiful flowers blooming near this beach. Lovely!! I will enjoy wearing my sample of this.

Well, I decided to go ahead try this on my wrists. I liked it at first but as it developed over the next two hours, it became very unpleasant. It smelled like some unknown fragrance to me. Maybe the type of woody note or the samphire used? I just know after two hours with it on, I was beginning to get a headache and had to use alcohol to remove it.

I am disappointed. I had high hopes and I admire the work of Christine Nagel. If it works for you, I am jealous. It just didn’t work with my skin. 😢

belle99

if you want to smell like a mermaid, wear this, i imagine this is what mermaids smell like!

BossaBabe

Quite a unique fragrance. Can't remember anything that smells like this. A salty floral, with light wood undertones. An elegant and original choice for the summer.

CatalinOvi

A watery, powdery, buttery, fresh, clean, white floral scent. Has a slight earthy undertone (maybe from woody notes + white florals?).

There are better choices in this line. I wouldn't buy this one first.

Lotte_Liese

What an interesting, attractive fragrance. The marine notes are very strong and the interplay with white florals is truly divine.

Lasura

Gentle scent, aquatic notes are quite clear to me. This takes me to those first summer days and nights by the sea, when everything blooms. Light and dark at the same time, not a typical fresh marine scent.

suzanne_ronald

Challenging Impressionist LILY-PADS with an Edge...

There are some beautiful things and some challenging this about this marine floral. Opens with hazy contours flous lily-pad florals (magnolia, Madonna lily & pitosporum) with lush, aquatic & powdery nuances. The sea-water beneath the florals is aquatic & salty, but decidedly not fresh. There's a slightly off scent of a lagoon or Venice in the summer - no doubt intentional - which allows the more mainstream reference to hazy, impressionist lily-pads built from magnolia & lily to come forward with a little sweetness. While the lily-pad reference is beautiful, one can understand why perfumer Christine Nagel needed to put a gothic spin on it and dodge the bullet of being cliche in a unique way. However, there's also a strong woody note that reads as slightly piercing up close, but helps the projection. Altogether this may be one challenge too many. Better luck next time!

spitfyre27

Um, I don't get why this one is only rated a 3.6. I think this is the best one of the Jardin line and it lasts on my skin a long time. It smells fresh and floral but is complex and unique enough to stand out in my opinion. I always wear this in the summer and I get lots of compliments. I generally stay away from woody notes, especially strong ones (can't stand oud) but they are tolerable, almost pleasant, in Jardin Sur la Lagune.

I just want to add that the second one I like from this line is Sur le Nil, because of the green mangoes. It always reminds me of visiting my friend's house which is surrounded by mango trees and that afternoon we spent picking them.

Erika.Lane

Clearance rack find! This works great with my skin and I'm so happy about it! It's such an intoxicating fresh sea water smell mixed with white florals. It makes me close my eyes and smile when I smell it, it's just so..cozy! I really love perfumes with salty notes and this one just sailed right into my top shelf.

Warmbroodje

The wafts of powdery magnolia are very nice. But I can't bare the harsh woody notes (which are becoming mainstreem in a lot of modern fragrances).
Here they don't fade away. There is no balance in Laguna. Maybe that was the idea by Christine Nagel?

saho93

I get more floral and interesting woody note. It’s unique with ever slightly spicy note. Not my favorite scent profile, but it may be something I may grow to like. For now, I am on the fence about whether I like it or not. There are a few perfumes that for me ends with a question mark, and this is it.

Having said that, I am slightly puzzled by rather lower average marks for this. I tried Sur Nil, which gets higher marks, and that one just does not work for me with overpowering tomato leaf note.

Update: 06/01/2023: It is unique, but not my cup of tea. I don’t think I will grow to like it. The blend is not smooth, and I just prefer softer style.

AshBud

I love this so much! I would consider this unisex. It has somewhat of an aftershave scent, but the magnolia is also prominent, and it's quite latonic and creamy to me. However, its not very long lasting and close to the skin.

Annata

I hate this perfume so much that I can’t even describe it. It leans more masculine, it is fresh, aquatic but it has a note that makes me nauseous and gives me a headache.
When I first smelled at Sephora I loved it but now OMG it is so bad that I can’t even stand it. If someone suggest me with what can I layer this it’s welcomed.

sbmmbs21

Have been sampling all the different Hermes jardin fragrances since I discovered sur le nil last year & I have to say I ignored this one because of the rusty brown colouring, which put me off for some reason…. Smelt this in store & was immediately taken aback at how beautiful it was! On first smell it reminds me a bit of TF Soleil Blanc which is one of my favourite fragrances of all time. To me this is more of a white solar floral scent then marine (I love both types of scent but I wouldn’t say this falls into a typical marine scent at all).

Agree with others in that it doesn’t really follow the same pattern as the other fragrances in the jardin line, it’s not very garden-esque & performs like a beast. It really has the benefit of being a lot stronger than the other fragrances in the collection, lasting a good 5+ hours whereas the others are 1.5 hours max.

It’s also probably one of the only frags I’ve smelt where the notes are identical from opening to dry down. Whereas some others only have that signature first spray scent for half an hour in the opening, this stays true to the original spray for the duration, which I love!

I kept smelling the paper sample so much that I had to buy a bottle. I think this will be a staple summer fragrance for me now, warm creamy sunshine & heat in a bottle!

Tiger01

Love this! It’s soft, clean, feminine. Reminds me of a garden in the early sunrise.

RiddlesKitty

A bit bizarre. Magnolia and marine notes. Nice... but nauseating?

katie02kat

A nice clean soft floral feminine fragrance, not unisex in any way. very pleasant

alternateu

This is a very strange scent to me. The most marine/aquatic from the Un Jardin range - and on my skin, VERY salty and VERY woody. For some reason, this combination of magnolia/salt actually really reminded me of... baby vomit... It seems I'm the only one who got this vibe from it. It's weirdly "powdery" and "dirty" at the same time.
Not sure why. BUT - it is a perfume I get compliments on. I was purchasing food, and the cashier told me (unsolicited, and across a tray of food) that I smelled nice! So yea - projection is good, the longevity on me is aggressive (which would be great if I liked the perfume more, lasting EASY a whole day on me). For the Un Jardin range - this longevity is very impressive.
I'll keep it in my collection, but it's not one of my favourites.

on-that-day

I adore the Jardins line, and had only this and Après la Mousson left to try out when I ordered a sample. I was wary as it had white florals, particularly lily, and my nose and skin disagree strongly with them - but I love marine/aquatic scents and woody scents, and Jardin has made floral notes that I love - even the rose in Sur la Toit and the jasmine in Monsieur Li. I usually hate those!

Sooo this is nothing like the Jardins line and I am full of regret.

Pros:
Projection and longevity noticeably much, much stronger than the rest of the line. Difficult for me to scrub off despite my best efforts (isn't that always the way?)

Cons:
If you're sensitive to white florals/musk, you're gonna have a bad time.

On my skin, there was no salt, no water, and no wood. It was an absolute screech of lily and musk, an unholy cross between my granny's favourite lily soap and my mum's beloved White Musk from The Body Shop. It's the kind of scent that you can taste as it climbs inside your sinuses and makes itself at home. The lily gives me, as it always does, a whiff of kitty pee. I do not want that. No one standing within a 10 foot radius of me wants that.

Deciding my skin chemistry isn't to be trusted, I gave it the good old paper try. I do get *some* salt and woods, but they're still drowned out - no pun intended since the lack of water continues - by the soapy floral musk. The sillage is really good, it outperforms the classic Jardin EDTs by a country mile, and I'm sure most people don't have the lily and/or white musk sensitivities I do.

If the description sounds like your jam, you may love it - but given the other reviewers get strong saltwater and woods, not necessarily a safe blind buy for you. Samples are very easy to get, though (unlike Après la Mousson!).

Personally, I very much hope they never discontinue the original Jardins to make room for the new ones Nagel is bringing out. For me, the ethereal magic of the OGs is nowhere near this perfume, which smells like it comes from a completely different line. I'll try the upcoming Cythére, because hope springs eternal, but if you love that watercolour impressionism of the OGs, this will disappoint.

mimi1104

its like dior's eden-roc without the stank mf body odor smell. smells like beach resort vacations. slightly masculine imo

ellyas

it's floral but not overly floral, it's fresh, a bit woody, it's not overly mainstream kind of sweet, it's a perfect amount of sweetness. This one is growing on me. I would catch a whiff of this when the wind blows my hair and it's such a mood booster for me. I would always layer this one with Zara Ebony Wood and it becomes my everyday signature scent. This and Ebony Wood make me very happy.

cmdqt

Although there is no iris note in this, it reminds me of a mellow and sweet version of Prada Infusion d'Iris Cèdre.

Vanerolimusky

My favorite Hermes, from the first time I smelled it, I really like white florals right now. Can go off as a signature scent. Lasts around 6 hours.

olgadb

It reminds me of soaps my grandmother kept in her wardrobe. Old fashioned floral soap. Nothing for me.

Stara

At first it reminded me of a hairspray I used in the 80s, French Formula maybe? I didn't like it at all. After a few tries I grew to love it, a salty, woody floral. It lasts hours on me. I have Un Jardin sur Le Toit as well as a sample of Un Jardin sur le Nil, and Sur La Lagune is by far my favourite of them.

Nadell97

Similar to Zara Red temptation. Love it!! One of my most fav perfume so far. However the first time I bought it was in Dubai. It smells stronger than the second bottle that I bought from Sephora UK. Not sure why.. 😖

zlouiemark

This smells like Sampaguita with a hint of tea. This is a great everyday scent.
Non-offensive and leans towards feminine but a great man can rock this any day.

Update: Its a horrible synthetic mess after the top notes are gone. From floral to barbershop/ambroxan/heavy SEA SALT mess. It gave me allergies like hell. Cant even get rid if the scent after washing it off. Its a grower but def not for me.

Soledad89

The scent wasn't what I first expected, and I was disappointed. What I got was a unisex scent of salty notes, which to me makes a fragrance flat. I couldn't pick out the magnolia (one of my favorite flower notes). It's a scent that one could wear for warm weather, though. I'm so glad I got a sample before blind buying it.

montitis

I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS. IT WILL GROW ON YOU...
Tbh this is not my usual notes, but because of this, i become more to vetiver person. This perfume kind having some of relatives genre with zara vetiver pamplemousse. if its says citrusy, to me it's more to vetivery. Definitely will have a full size of this, 15ml is not enough.

GirardLau

I really like to wear this one in hot weather for a cocktail at the end of a work day. I got many compliments, it's original and smells like vacation. I don't get too much sweetness, but there is salty notes for sure. It's not thick though.

ilovepatrickbateman

i had a chance to test this a few days ago at an hermes booth at a department store, when i first sniffed it, it had that "hermes dna" and it smelled so sweet like candy and abit floral, i do not get the sea notes.

Babyniks

I've been testing this out for over a year now, and to my nose it's a creamy floral + sharp salt note + sharp woody accord, and in the background a mildly aquatic sea note. I love the floral part, this is one of the perfumes that made me appreciate magnolias in fragrances. However, I find the combination of the strikingly crystalline salt note combined with a sharp woody note that smells like cedar to me, creates a scent that's just a bit toooooo sharp. The sharpness almost makes it smell like a salty floral detergent even. I wish the salt had been toned down a bit and I think I would enjoy this more. I have however, warmed up to the scent considerably. and enjoy wearing it in summer. the sharpness really cuts through the heat and humidity, so its a floral woody fragrance that I suitable for warm weather. And I appreciate that at times. love paring this with linen clothing!

jejakakera

Hermes UJSLL starts off with soft white florals, but soon settles to this warm, masculine, salty driftwood scent that I love. It feels like a hug from that cool big brother. It also reminds me of this night time Nivea lotion I used to slather every night when I was in college.

That driftwood scent stays with me in around five hours with great sillage. This is definitely masculine. It can feel generic at times, but sometimes I want something generic so I won't be distracted.

phpbb

This smells like an internal combustion engine exhaust + magnolia. Absolutely repulsive.

Swett7sour

This is when two bottles are mixed together, something very airy and uplifting with something oriental undetectable. There is something that I don't tolerate and cannot tell what it is. The other perfumes of line of Jardins are very nice, though. My top is Jardin of Meditterian.

Kroshka_89

I generally like fresh aquatic, white floral or fresh fruity scents and was on a hunt for something a little different. Especially since it's a fall season. A youtuber Jus De Rose spoke very highly of this fragrance so I decided to give it a try. I already own Un Jardin Sur Le Toit which is just ok (not a favorite) so I didn't have super high expectations for a blind buy. I was however very wrong, as this is exactly what I was looking for. It is a very charming, unique scent that wears closer to skin and gives a sense of intimacy and familiarity. I don't smell any aquatic notes, and I would not call it a marine fresh scent. Definitely not something I associate with being on vacation by the coast. On a first spritz magnolia comes through right away, and a prominent note of jasmine that is not crisp but more of oriental woody down to earth kind of smell. There's a very subtle presence of blond woods and musk that is ever-present. The scent develops into this warm cozy cloud that is lightly sweet, powdery, caressing. Highly recommend to people who love white florals and white musks in their scents.

LudkaK

I had it for over 3 years and every time I took it out to wear it I just put it back down. Not sure why, the time or mood didn't seem right, it seemed to be not fresh enough for spring and summer and not warm enough for winter :-) Recently I was looking for a new scent and just put it on and bam, all seems to slot into place like a puzzle. It's not hot but not yet cold, around 13 - 15 degrees and it seems to be perfect, smooth, flowery yet woody, not marine at all on me. Not a blanket but a nice thin layer that is keeping me warm. I like it a lot. Not a love but a strong like and it's the only one from the line I like.

Stinalee201120

Definitely salty aquatic. Slightly sweet. Intended for those warm humid days. It's strong to me, but not overpowering. Perfectly unisex.

Jwen Liu

Similar with le labo another 13...

Love it so much

yy123

Salty floral

inkhorus

This brings me back to my seaside hometown. I can smell the sea breeze, wooden tables, a family gathering, but in a melancholic way. I love this so much, perfectly unisex though slightly leaning masculine for me. An absolute surprise.

Lauren_Lo

Really enjoyed this fragrance. Salty, fresh, floral. I got a sample of it and want to get a larger size. Reminds me of a spring day with fresh floral and grassy notes. Smells like a cool breeze in your backyard when the spring flowers are blooming and the 🌞 is shining down on you. This brings lightness and joy.

venussansfurs

Very aromatic with not much in the way of floral or aquatic notes. Masculine-leaning.

neda23

The drydown is very similar to Squid by Zoologist. Not as potent though.

Made by Kouros

Nothing like the rest in the Jardin series! The drydown smells like the aromachemical amberwood. In fact picking up my blotter for blind test I thought I was smelling Chrome Extreme or something. But the jasmine (et alia) still makes it lean feminine from top to bottom. Quite a peculiar combo, but not a bad smell.

cherise1676

Thinking maybe my nose is broken after reading a handful of reviews about this scent. I discovered this while in Thailand in 2019, it’s been my go to- can’t live without- want to wear it everyday fragrance.
It’s so fresh, smooth, slightly warm yet bright.
It lasts days on my skin, even longer on clothes. I can smell it after laundering them even. The lasting power is just insane. Not at all a bad thing for those who love this.
The notes are so minimal yet blended together I feel it has so much more than what is listed.
Having seen the reviews & not being much of a review person these days. I felt compelled to just say that this scent is so beautiful. Layers very well. But for me I love it on its own. I’ve gone through 4 large bottles & have another on stand by.
I wouldn’t say this is for everyone but I feel like for those that get it, get it.

The Wolf

This is pretty good. Big-time florals. Has a perfumey smell and something strange I couldn't place (aquatic aromachems). Opening is interesting but drydown is magnolia and other florals all the way. Not fbw for me. Leans fem.

notes:
white floral- yes

It is kind of powdery white flowers bit woody on the base note scent. But here is what I have learned on my pass through "perfume life" : whatever review says, whatever description writes - it all might be completely different when put on your own skin...As in many other reviews happens to me: neither reviews nor description of the Jardin sur la Lagune does not apply to me at all: on me this is one extremely pleasant flowery/powdery scent I had fall in love immediately (actually the moment I entered the shop it caught my nose and I hade to found out what it is!) and since then this love is eternal...and not only I love it, but everybody close to me smell it and are completely in love..they say they know if I had been somewhere nearby before because of this scent...it is almost eternal longevity and silage..people stop and ask me what a beautiful perfume I do wear!!! so yes, this might be something similar to Montale perfumes: my skin love it and Montale love my skin...on many others might be just opposite :)

zombieldehyde

The top notes smell feminine so I was super happy when I first tried it out. However, I was surprised with the base notes because it started to smell a bit masculine when they unfold. Well, what did I expect? It’s named as lagune after all. Most marine or aquatic scents are geared towards men.

Still, it is classy and wearable for me. I just prefer feminine scents for perfumes.

pretornatural

Nothing aquatic comes off this from me. It's a sweet floral, like a bouquet of magnolia and lily left out in the summer sun for a bit, with a bit of a soapy finish.

brokesta911

Hermes Un Jardin Sur La Lagune (2019) - salty magnolias - #christinenagel creates a fragrance inspired by Venice, yet not sure if that literally would smell like this. The accord combines a salty oceanic molecule with the lemony-waxy floral accord of Magnolias and the spicy-white of Lilies. It’s supported by a woody backbone and pretty straightforward as a fragrance. Refreshing.

grapefruit352

This one is very beautiful, feminine scent! Bright flowery scent on the woodsy base! BEAUTY!
P.s: I do not like other scents from this line, scent.. like Un Jardin sur Le Nil...no... :) But this one suits me perfectly!

MsFCAS

I bought a set of four 0.5 oz Hermes "Jardins" sprays. I'm already familiar with Sur Le Nil, wanted to try the others.

I was excited to read there was a "pitosporum" (I usually spell that with two t's) note, as I have a pittosporum undulatum tree right outside my front door. When it bursts into bloom in early spring, there is no better scent, especially when it rains and the scent of fresh rain and sweet pittosporum blossom combine. It makes a giant mess on the front steps as the petals then fruits fall, but it's worth it.

This scent does not come close to capturing that. This smells like generic bath and body works something, or when you walk into the front door of a department store and some hapless sales assistant has been tasked with aggressively spraying everyone who walks in the door. It's unpleasant to my nose, not just non descript, and I'm so disappointed because 1) I was excited to get a pittosporum fragrance, and 2) I love Sur la Nil so much I had high hopes for this one.

violeteme

The first Un Jardin I dislike, that marine accord is not pleasant. -

Linnsim

This is a masterpiece. It smells oceany, salty and very elegant. It’s like a summerbreeze. It lasts for ages in my skin and hair, and projects quite good. Had some compliments wearing this.

I think this may be very individual, but on me, this lasts longer than Baccarat.

This is one of my favorite perfumes that is staying permanently in my top 10 forever scents. Hermès has nailed it with this one. It really smells luxurious like the brand itself.

venusbruises

Objectively, this is a beautiful fragrance, but it does not suit me. On me it's super heavy lilies and something very pungent and sour, which gives me a headache every time. The opening is the best part of this fragrance, but after that it sours and the scent stays pretty much the same. If you like the smell the lasting power of this is pretty great, well over 6 hours on my skin, even longer on hair and clothes.

belinda.1

Brief pleasant sweet light floral/ozonic opening and then just a persistent sour wood smell on me that lasted all day. There's something in certain wood notes that seems to do this unpleasant/damp/piercing thing on me.

Honestly kind of relieved I don't like this, as I loved Sur Le Nil so much I was worried I was going to have to buy the whole line, lol

blublond

Cheap smelling 'woodsy notes' laced with 'sea notes' and a hint of some sort of floral. Does not do the brand Hermès justice. Very disappointing.

Matheya

It's a safe white floral perfume. Lacks the Hermes mossy, vetivery , woody base. It doesn't shine in any way. Suitable for a gift, for office etc.
I smell mostly Lily. Kinda boring.
I prefer Nina Ricci's Premier jour - that is a white floral masterpiece !

jeannebelmondo

A slightly powdery, squeaky clean, ivory soap white floral, with some subtle marine and woodsy undertones. It doesn’t smell bad, and it is really calming and refined, but it also smells like a bar of hotel soap to me.
This would work really well in the Clean range, and smells more sophisticated and well-blended than the bulk of Clean’s offerings. But after being spoiled so much with the masterpiece that is Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, I can’t help but feel this really pales in comparison.

Sweetlattemama

Salty Flower smell. It is so predictable. Gucci bloom in salty version instead of freshie fresh. Eventhough people might consider me a mature soul, but this one way too mature.

DS9Dax

Fresh, airy. Great for hot summer days. White floral with water. There is some amber - but it’s background. It’s an EDT but has fair to good performance. I spray it liberally and get a good 4 hours of a strong scent bubble. Easy to grab and wear.

Enrium

Un Jardin Sur La Lagune, while not being my favourite of this line (that would be Un Jardin Sur Le Nil), is one of the best marine scents I've tried. I reviewed Amouage Beach Hut Woman recently, and rated it highly. This one is a superior scent - leave it to Christine Nagel. Where Beach Hut Woman was cold and stormy, like the seaside in winter, SLL is full of sunshine without relying heavily on citrus notes.

SLL opens with salty, mineral notes that evoke the sea hitting the rocky shore. Slightly metallic (I'm starting to think that this is unavoidable in marine scents), its rock-like saltiness shines through, with a hint of something akin to zesty bergamot. The white florals round this out beautifully, reminding me a little of Frédéric Malle Lys Méditerranée, but more salty minerals, less lily. They are lush, smooth and creamy - clean instead of being sweet or indolic. It makes for a deeply pleasant scent. I get a hint of orange blossom, adding a citrus edge to the florals, seemingly due to the pittosporum. Woody notes emerge as it dries down, adding some depth. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Feminine-leaning in my opinion due to the florals, but unisex depending on taste - there is no sweetness in here.

A prettier, more wearable marine scent than the likes of Beach Hut Woman. It also manages to avoid leaning on synthetic cashmeran/ambroxan-type accords. A refreshing summertime scent with a difference. 3.5/5.

Subhuman

Ever feel like you're being gaslit by perfume reviews? All the negative feedback for this stuff makes me wonder if my sense of smell is broken. I genuinely think it’s lovely, and distinctive. There's a humid quality to this garden, like I've stepped into a glass-walled conservatory in July. I suppose this can be considered "weird", but I find it compelling. The overall effect for me is a gently powdery, sunlit white floral that seems to stretch into the horizon, buttressed by driftwood and sea spray. Like many of Christine Nagel's works, Lagune is as much about texture and feeling as it is about smell, and the feeling here is relaxed and flowing. A breeze coming off the ocean on a summer night, a white sundress and sepia shades in fragrance form. I was smitten the moment I smelled it. It might not be as intellectually stimulating as Jean-Claude Ellena's esoteric mises-en-scène, but Sur La Lagune is still a beauty...or, perhaps my tastes are less sophisticated than I thought. Whatever. I'm already on my second bottle.

A Fragrant Life

I tried this before having heard of it or read any reviews. I was shocked to see such poor feedback! I find Un Jardin Sur La Lagune to be fantastically elegant; it is fresh and light enough not to offend, but has a rather unique sweet and vegetal combination that I find interesting. It lasts and performs very well on me when sprayed in hair and on clothes. I am in love and will keep this for work in the warmer weather. Just beautiful.

rosebv

The scent is nice but nothing so sophisticated like described by some people depending on the occasion and how you value the place of the occasion. I knew that it was not my type of scent, but for a change it is nice to wear on informal occasions. Like for shopping or around the house or traveling with people since this scent is close to the skin, or also very suited for wearing to bed!!. This would be indeed a very romantic and sophisticated scent in bed. The sillage is zero but lovely. It is still a nice buy, if you can get this cheap. I got mine (100 ml) for $60. This fragrance reminds me of a very vintage fragrance from Yves Rocher called “ Milrose”. Also suitable for an almost teen child that wants to wear perfume. It feels very innocent and has no projection so it is not overwhelming. For sports ( but an elegant sport like a ballet class or a ballroom dance class) this would be perfect!!!!!!!! I do not detect any woody notes. This is all the way floral.

soyfate

My signature scent! Such an elegant, dreamy and unique scent that is perfect for warm days. It's my favourite of the Un Jardin series. It develops beautifully on the skin and lasts quite long.

Don't let the bad reviews put you off, try it. It's heavenly!

Gioia's secret

I know that mainly women are buying this fragrance but Lagune and Mediterranean are too masculine for me, so I don’t see myself wearing any of them. But if Mediterranean smells clean and fresh, Lagune smells like rusty water, which completely resonates with Christine Nagel’s inspiration - Venice. I applaud this talented woman, as she created exactly what she set out to create 👏👏👏

EstanciaMercedes

Odd that this is my first scent review, it's a recent buy relative to the oldies on my shelf.

But then again, Un Jardin Sur La Lagune is a delightful mystery to me, a scent memory that wafts through my mind, compelling me to think, did you remember that correctly?

Go on, have a spritz, get lost in the distant view Venice, vieled in shifting mists and a petulant sun, the elusive marshy tang almost primordial, the floral notes just enough of a hint, like from a garden nearby, civilizing and very expensive.

Its cost and compounding is a wink, and a nod to the creators exquisite science and skills. A reminder that perfume transcends chemicals, top middle bottom notes. Those matter deeply, but, when I put on Un Jardin Sur La Lagune, only the mystery lingers.

melusina1982

This starts wonderful, it reminds me of Relique d'Amour and Passage d'Enfer in feeling: cold white flowers and stone although this one has a watery and salty touch, then it develops an opressive woody smell that overpowers everything else and renders it impossible to wear. Even though they are completely different perfumes, you can also experience the same phenomenon with Eau de Citron.

ggartel

I want to love this because it smells fantastic when I spray it in the air. Unfortunately on my skin it develops this mentholated powdery smell… it reminds me of Vicks vaporub on a baby, or maybe a hospital? Not something I think I can wear. If you’re not me, I’d say this would be perfect for a cool spring day or possibly a summer night.
Scent 8/10 on a tester strip, 1/10 on my skin :(
Projection 3/10 it sits VERY close to the skin
Longevity TBD as I haven’t had it on for very long as of this review

ILikeSmellingNice

This is really good. I love how good the Magnolie note is coming trough. Bit expensive but worth the money. Best for spring and summer.

RandomPatterned

I do sense a woody dry down which has the Ellena Hermes DNA in it. To me it starts out similarly to Eau des Merveilles but without the spiciness and less citrusy. Then the white flowers are present, fresh and sweet, but not blasting. They are very nicely balanced with the aforementioned wood and a hint of salt. It's beachy in a unique and subtle way, definitely not the full on tropical fruit, coconut and sunscreen vibe. I'm considering getting a FB. It would fulfill any need to tastefully wear a fresh white floral.

SophiaG

I don't dislike this, but I am a little disappointed that I don't seem to be getting what everyone else is smelling. To me, this smells like a bar of expensive white soap - I get no marine nuances, just flowers and powder. It does not evoke any kind of beachy feel, and even lacks any crispness that an added citrus might inspire me to wear it on a summer day. That being said, it is an Hermes, and the quality is clear; it does last very well on me, projects moderately and does get less sharp and powdery as time goes on.

If I were a completely different person (think demure, mature rich woman) this might be exactly what I want to smell like. It's mild and slightly sweet, but certainly not gourmand. I can't see it upsetting anyone - there are no difficult notes or accords, and it sits close enough to the skin that it shouldn't harass anyone nearby. It is entirely pleasant, but so straight laced that I tend to forget it's there - I prefer bolder fragrances and don't see myself reaching for this often.

tippytee

I love and cherish all the Ellena Un Jardins. They were truly my gateway to fragrance as a young woman starting to explore; I have worn UJEM for more than 15 years and UJSLT is a perennial spring favorite. This is probably my least favorite of the Un Jardins- Nagel didn't really attempt to use much Ellena DNA at all. It's a very mature summer fragrance with watery magnolia. There's a very nice ethereality to it; it smells like incredibly chic toilet paper (and I mean that in a good way!) A beachy fragrance for the woman who doesn't stay too long on the sand at the beach and will take her drinks at the clubhouse. It's pretty but just not for me me the same way that Twilly is very pretty but also not me. If you adore the lush green and fruit watercolor creations of Ellena's gardens, you may be a little let down.

SmellsLikeMoneyWellSpent

I don't understand why it's calles amber floral here. I would say it's watery aromatic chypre, fresh in the opening and sweet herbal later on. Very pretty, very easy going, nice and lovely.

ilayda

Really nice scent. My mother bought this for herself but did not find it sexy enough. Im more of a classy elegant scent type of gal so I was happy to take it. This is a beautiful whote floral and I mostly pick up magnolia. The marine accords are also very present with the sea notes and I find this scent slightly salty. Its a lovely floral I should wear more often

thedana

I love the jardin series by Hermes so I was immediately fascinated with this scent. Surprisingly, it has little in common with the other scents in the series. Nothing green about it and not even a hint of citrus, but still, beautifully fresh and elegant in its own way.

The first whiff after spraying is like a splash of salty sea water. Once the initial saltiness settles, it gives way to soft white florals. The dialogue between floral and marine notes continues for a few more hours, then fades into a soft woody finish.

Overall, this scent is cool elegance to me. The lack of greenery and citrus makes this one stand out in the jardin line, but it still fits well within it. The scent brings up images of fresh sheets in a Mediterranean vacation. It is completely wearable while very unique. I love this fragrance and recommend it to anyone.

chakukan

delicate and fresh ..... very elegant

perfumesniffer

Odd evolution. There are three distinct stages. The first hour it’s a unique powdery herbal floral. I like the clean linen vibe. Then the next stage it becomes an aquatic sea breeze. Relaxing and nice, I like this stage too. Then the dry down it becomes a bitter vetiver, which I don’t like. Then it disappears forever. All within about 2-3 hours.

twoski

This one is fresh and aquatic with prominent white florals. Great for spring and summer, very uplifting and unoffensive. Could be worn as an office scent too.

Kind of makes me think of fresh laundry almost.

parfumparfan

This whole Jardin line smelled absolutely fantastic. I started out with Sur le Toit and Sur le Nil, tried En Mediterannee and sniffed de Monsieur Li and they were all excellent, unique and surprising. This one is no exception. It's my second favorite after Sur le Nil. This one is the least "fresh" of the line; it's floral, powdery, soft and magnetic. It smells clean, and "showered" but not herbal or even remotely soapy. There isn't a single note that predominates throughout; they change up. At first sniff all I get are the florals and then it starts smelling watery and finally settles into a clean, creamy almost woodsy base. It's a perfect office scent and smells very polished, like the whole line does. Good longevity and good sillage as well.

Szafirowy czar

This fragrance is not bad, in fact it's quite intriguing, however personally it seems too masculine for me

SailorV

Today I gave my mother a small bottle of Un Jardin Sur La Lagune that I picked up for a good price on my holidays. We have often sampled it when we were out shopping together, and it always smelled better on here than it did on me. She loves it, to me it's just okay. I like it on her, but not on me.
This is quite different from the other airy and fruit-infused Hermès Jardins. It doesn't have the transparent watercolor effect that the Jardins by Jean-Claude Ellena convey. I don't think that's a problem per se, it's better to try something new than to do the same thing over and over again. But I have to admit I enjoy the older creations more, especially Un Jardin Sur La Toit.

Un Jardin Sur La Lagune starts with soft and creamy white floral notes, a beautiful fresh magnolia with a hint of sea salt. Unfortunately the woody and oceanic notes overtake the perfume on my skin, so the drydown feels scratchy and the florals move to the background. This isn't a subtle freshwater-ish floral aquatic, they really nailed the salty seabreeze accord and it's just too much for me. But it really depends on the wearer: On my mom's skin the flowers win the battle, the oceanic notes are a lovely breeze instead of a storm and the wood doesn't turn scratchy. It smells fresh and pretty on her.

In any case I think they chose the wrong bottle color. This is clearly a blue scent that would complete a nautical inspired outfit. Like most of the line I find it a little more feminine leaning than truly unisex due to the florals, but it certainly has an edge to it that makes it wearable for those with more masculine tastes.

ingeneuxo

-Spicy woody floral.
-There's a tad bit too much going on here.
-Not the best from the Hermes Un Jardin Lineup.
-Maybe I'm just biased towards Sur le Toit.(-)

Todobien

I really could sense a orange note. More like- not so delicious, orange candy taste. This is the worst longevity I have experienced in a fragrance. It doesn't matter if the smell is good, but the fragrance is overpriced and only lasts for 30 minutes.

SniffingAddict

Starts out a very pleasant, salty scent. Then the white florals kick in -- makes me think of Jasmine, a watery, fresh Jasmine. Others have described this scent much better. For me, it feels very much like a walk along the beach on a calm early morning or serene evening and passing a big bouquet of white flowers. Really lovely and pleasant. I am HOOKED. Not sure it's full bottle worthy, but I'm very happy to have a 8ml sample and will be enjoying it :).

kiaoi

Having lived in Venice, I was curious about this perfume and to start with, I got the body lotion version of it. This is an elegant and unique scent. Fresh, yes, but for some reason when I first smelled it, it made me crave for Fall and a burnt Sienna colored cardigan. To me this smells masculine but it’s an elegant and gentle masculine scent, it’s not aggressive. I would associate it to one of those old elegant gentlemen walking through Venice’s Calle roads, maybe returning from their grocery shopping pulling their cart behind. This scent makes me think about draperies, antiques and velvet but, overall, about elegance, and it’s definitively a great match with the elegant city of Venice.

jollymeme

As an Italian, this speaks vividly to me and reminds me of the true Venetian experience. Not the roaring noise of a crowd, but the smell of salty water of the lagune combined with the luxuriant smell of a villa private garden, maybe owned by an old-money family as the Guggenheim (Peggy house and art museum can be found in Venice). This could be described as tamed and wild as well, but overall very elegant. Comparable to a high-end tapestry with a wildlife scene represented on it. Very luxurious.

sisina96rv

Well, I test a sample of it right now... I had to smell it, as my favourite YT reviewer loves it for spring.
Yes, it is definitely spring-y. But I can imagine wearing it now - at the end of the summer, when the weather is calm, warm, peaceful and there's this nostalgic of the leaving summer in the air (Aug-Sep in mild climate on the Northern hemisphere).
It opens a bit sharp, zesty, citrusy. No one could imagine what would follow. After 20-30 min. you start to smell white flowers and the citruses fade. The jasmin makes it round and creamy, but soon there comes an elegant magnolia, sharp sour-sweet lilies, sea water and woods. And this combination remains till the end. I find it quite long lasting and it intoxicates the air with pleasant, creamy, slightly salty, woodsy scent.

I like the fragrance, but did not fall in love with it. Exactly like others say - it doesn't have that "Wow, I have to have it!" effect, for me. But I find it very pleasant, well crafted, and I wish those lilies were less prominent in it. But yes, I can imagine some people loving it.

P. S. That woodsy marine accord is the same as in the Eau des Merveilles Bleu by Hermés, which I really appreciate and have myself 👍

Weby007

A nice refreshing fragrance, however it is a little too floral for me. I can see why people would like it though. Almost smells like baby powder.

gennarowilde

Holy fucking shit. Just wore it went to the beach in Amalfi to watch the sunset and received three compliments in few minutes

Sorfan

I blind bought this, having looked at the notes. To my nose, it smells a lot like Terre D'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver. To me the two are interchangeable. It’s definitely woody. I don’t know which note it is, but I smell a lot of concrete
I have recently come across Angel Nova EDP. It has the same prominent woody note that overtakes the perfume.

Is it just me or this smells like Replica Beachwalk? I love this!!!

This parfum was like a drug to me. After smelling it for the first time I thought it is just ok. Little did I know that I was already trapped. I was craving it so much I couldn`t resist but bought a full bottle and now I use it every day.

After reading a review of this by Victoria on boisdejasmin.com and also reading all of the reviews on this website, I decided to take the leap and buy it. Frankly I don't understand any negative reviews of this. To my nose, this is a very delicate and very pretty clean floral scent. It stays close to the skin, and lasts for hours on me. It starts as a muted fresh aquatic floral, then becomes a bit deeper and dries down to a faded version of itself. I don't detect any salt, or anything unpleasant. There might be a faint hint of a 'plasticky' or even a Barbie Doll scent (remember that as a little girl?), but it's not major and is not a deal-breaker at all. In total, very subtle and very wearable as floral scents go. If this perfume were a song, it would be a lullaby.
After a few days of wear, I now can say there's a similarity to Donna Karan Cashmere Mist, though this is much softer and refined.

Eau de Hanneli

I became obsessed with finding out about the garden this fragrance was inspired by before I ever smelled it.. I even bought the book called A Garden in Venice, naturally I also bought the fragrance. I was so intrigued to imagine the bottled interpretation of this garden. Wearing it today, the opening smells like honeyed magnolia and Madonna lily, with a mimosa-esque sweetness. Then the salt accord and pittosporum comes through in the dry down and it settles into a woodsy base. I’m looking forward to wearing this in the warmer months while spending time in the garden, an elegant and enchanting scent.

c121

Smells like a beach day in a luxurious resort. I like it, but no wow factor. It's a light and elegant sunny summer day scent. Pretty safe imo.

chrisk252

Testing a discovery set of Jardin di Monsieur Li, Sur Le Nil, Sur Le Toit, and Sur La Lagune. Sur La Lagune is the least ethereal, heaviest (tho not heavy), and most straight forward of the bunch. Checking the nose, it is the only one that is not by Jean Claude Ellena but by Christine Nagel, so it makes sense that it's the one that sticks out as different.

I like it but not a love. Maybe I've gotten used to the spare, ethereal, delicate compositio of Ellena, but this one seems like a simpler conventional scent. Fruity floral with modest amounts of sweetness. I would say beautiful, but seems less so than the others. Scent: 7/10

joyceyanchan

Overdose of artificial wood notes, iso e super, something like that.

malikun

I wanted to love this because it is HERMEs (obviously) but somehow I only like it, cause this Jardin is not as intriguing as expected. The silage and longevity on me personally are low, it is too close to skin. Not saying it is bad, but it just does not have that woah! component you would expect from brand of Hermes, although it DOES have that really-wealthy-people's-house vibes. But I do love the drydown, reminds me of some perfume my mom used to wear. Even though I don't like that white flower component it just reminds me of home :) I should have known white florals are not for me, but wanted to try...

SmellsLikeMoneyWellSpent

Unisex, dry, sea wood on my skin. Slightly bitter chypre. I like it.

jsbright222

This fragrance is very unique. Almost strange. Beautiful in it’s own murky, floral, dark water, sexy way. I agree 100% with @HyenaSuperstition’s review. I had a premium sample of this fragrance, and its corresponding body lotion from Sephora (500 point gift). I had to try it on many times over a number of months before I fully appreciated the way this fragrance wears and dries down, I typically avoid any perfumed body lotions - I prefer to wear the EDP alone; the body lotion for Lagune is magnificent! I am a longtime, devoted fan of a couple of Hermes fragrances and Lagune has now been added to my collection of those I love the most. When I wear my usual Hermes fragrances, I get many compliments. Lagune drew complements and questions from strangers and friends.
This fragrance is one which I would wear in spring, summer, late summer, into fall. I have always had a way of connecting fragrances to colors and fabrics - I associate this fragrance with linen, silks, tunics, kaftans, white denim, cupro: clothing with some flow or light structure; cool earth tones, cream, fuchsia, mossy or sage greens, muted blues and purples, soft orange and coral, maize, stony/stormy greys.

JessVanEgg

This fragrance is pretty fresh and floral. I don’t smell as much the sea water notes, but I can definitely smell the magnolia and lily, as well as the woody notes.

I do believe it is a bit overpriced tho. The smell lasts for not more than 3-4 hours and the sillage is quite intimate. The scent feels a bit more feminine.

Overall, it's a 6.5/10.

QueenieIrenie

Very fresh, aquatic floral. Reminiscent of warm weather and beach vacations. I feel like I should like this, however there is something very harsh about it when I stick my nose to the spot I sprayed, even hours after applying. It feels like getting flower-infused ocean water up my nose. At least longevity is decent.

HyenaSuperstition

I bought a 5ml sample of this and had tried it at different times of the year. I ran out of it about six months ago and have been craving it ever since. The weather right now is perfect for this. Being in this high heat, I finally knew that I had to have it. Fresh, clean, watery, marine. This is such a gorgeous fragrance. An etheric, crisp, floral, with subtlety and presence. It took me a while to understand what my nose initially recognized as a note of sunblock. I now feel that this is more of an ozonic note than it is to SPF. This perfume is surprising and well worth getting familiar with.

This is one of those fragrances that would likely be better to try before you buy. I knew I liked it upon the initial spray, but it took a year of revisiting it to know that it had to be mine.

This lasts on my skin all day. I was surprised by that because it's such a non intrusive, and almost breathy scent. The lily and magnolia combination in this are such a perfect pairing. Pure class, all the way. Please try it if you like calming scents that are minimalist in nature, yet persistent enough to deliver. Such a gem for me.💎

miriamcarothers

I very frequently crave this scent. I dunno what that’s about- it’s just lovely.

KladfvbungMicshk

The first notes of white floral and marine are so beautiful - but within a few minutes fade into a one-dimensional powdery scent that I find boring (at least on my skin). It weirdly reminds me of white noise.

corianderbean

I'm a perfume beginner and this one so far is my absolute favorite! It's something that I would imagine being very soft. I'm now very curious about the rest of the collection since I read a lot of negative reviews about this one and I really enjoy this one!

Lomama

I agree with EmmaGrace, there is something bothersome every other time I go back to sniff this. Magnolia is lovely, but then there is a synthetic smell that hits me and I'm repulsed. It's like Jekyll and Hyde.

evyjones

Ethereal. This is what comes to mind upon smelling this on my skin. This is one of those perfumes that will evoke memories and make you feel things in general. It’s fleeting like a memory, a feeling, a dream, like the breeze... This perfume screams summer/spring and generally sunny days. But not in a lighthearted, young, playful kind of way. This is elegant, sophisticated, aristocratic. Not everyone can pull this off and not everyone will like it so it’s not a safe blind buy tor me. This also smells clean to me. On the first spritz all I can smell is salted magnolias and I love it. Then it simply becomes...magic. I can’t pinpoint exactly what this smells like on the dry down, but I’ll try to explain: imagine wild ocean waves casting up flowers and seaweeds on an abandoned shore somewhere far faraway. It’s just beautiful and unique. Very very special. I’ll probably wear this for the whole summer. Now even though I’m in love, this is not a perfect perfume, knowing it’s from Hermes and for that price. It really is too bad that on my skin the sillage of this beautiful perfume is within arm’s reach (after the first hour it sits very very close to the skin) and the longevity is max 3 hours, sometimes just 2, even if I overspray. So keep that in mind as it’s a quite expensive perfume. I got the 50 ml bottle on the spot when I tried this and I’m so glad I did, as I’ll need it if I keep refreshing for the whole summer.

fragrances-fanatic

The combo of notes reminds me a bit of Donna Karan Cashmere Aura - must be the amber. I never would have guessed it had so many floral notes from smelling it. Didn't realize until I looked it up here. Now that I smell it again, I suppose it does have a lot of floral. It is very well balanced though, so although I don't love floral fragrances, I really like this one.. Slight soapy element, which I like.

cresol

Did I accidentally spray myself with Twilly? Not that i'm disappointed.

EmmaGrace

The opening is full floral in your face Magnolia. Then something triggered my gag reflex. I’m not sure what it was but, blarg!! I couldn’t even allow the progression through the layers of the notes. I had to wash it off. Sur La Lagune is a scrubber for me! 😔

carlahoffman

OMG! why a lovely perfume which my husband told me just how pretty I smelled when we hugged !! It opens with a blast of white floral notes that are intoxicating to the senses with Magnolia leading the way. I can smell the Lily lurking in the background which also is quite pretty.

It projects alot better than I thought it would being EDT and the lasting power is great over 8 hours for me. It winds down to a nice woody/floral scent. This is for a someone that likes white floral scents plus it is a good daytime and evening perfume.

It is working good in this cold weather and I bet it would be a good year round perfume. I purchased a 1 oz bottle from TJMAXX today for $30 and looking to up size it right now, this is how much I love this perfume. For sure a safe blind buy for white floral lovers.

My first perfume by HERME"S !!!

Murmur123123

A risky blind buy but quickly becoming one of my favourites. The salt smell is so unique. It is not a "wet sea water" smell, but a "dry salt mineral" smell. This mixed with the florals is intoxicating to me, but just by the descriptions here it is clear to see that it can be very polarizing - you either love it or hate it.

All the previous un jardin series never appealed to me, as I generally don't like the "fresh" scents. This one is worth checking out - not a safe blind buy, but if you love it, it will be super unique in your collection.

Finisterle

The Hermes Jardins seek to paint pictures of different legendary gardens with fragrance notes.

Not easy, not even feasible - because you can't condense a whole garden into a single bottle - but the idea is fascinating and Hermes perfumist's efforts commendable.

Lagune does take you to a fascinating place if only for a while before solidifying into something flowery yet unisex and semi bright.

Of course you don't need things like Hermes Lagoon Garden. A good designer frag puts this expensive potion in the corner of the dance floor. But if you don't own a single fragrance like this you are missing out on an artistic dimension of perfumery. And since you are here because you love fragrances - that would be a sad thing wouldn't it ?

clemmy

In this collection, so far I am only fan of Jardin sur le Nil, which is a masterpiece.
This lagune is very different,I liked it when it was out, but disincentived to buy by harsh reviews. I finally decided to treat me with a full bottle. It is true that leans to masculine, but it is very different from any other scents I tried, definitely different from the 'Jardin broom'.
Lily and pittosporum are a bold and unusual combination, with salt, light wood and a drop of magnolia. Btw the open is very citrusy for me as well (as other reviewers, blood orange specifically) so I am surprised is not in the ingredient list.

I like the uniqueness and the melancholy within, the name and the memories that recollects are very close to Venice and the lagune (btw I am italian).
I believe that collectors will appreciate the sartorial work behind this unique fragrance, that is not made for clubbing or social events, but to be enjoyed in solitude. But It is not even close to Jardin sur le Nil.
Not safe blind buy, but good office scent. I should check how it will perform in summer weather. 3.5/5

dan.hanel

I can see where they get away with calling this unisex. The base is salty and mineralic and very beautiful and comforting and absolutely swings both ways. That said, the mids and top are decidedly feminine, and quite frankly not a young woman. Therefore the unisex label rings a little insultingly false, a marketing ploy more than a sincere attempt at bridging the spectrum of societal norms.
Gentlemen, and interested ladies, if you like the base Invictus Aqua has a virtually identical vibe at its heart and none of the white florals to slog through. Less mineralic, far more synthetic, but eerily reminiscent.

Ailyn Rose

So I am new to the fragrance world, but will speak to my experience. I purchased a Hermès sampler of 4 of the Jardin line. From the description, I was intrigued about this particular one. From the reviews, I was worried.

I don’t love the fragrance. I don’t even particularly like it for me. I also don’t find reviews saying things smell like old ladies to be particularly helpful. However, it does smell EXACTLY like beloved my grandmother who recently passed away. I love THAT about the fragrance. Beautiful memories and comfort flooded me immediately upon smelling this. I love THAT this fragrance made me realize what scent could do and how inextricably it can be linked to our emotions, healing, and memories (good, bad and neutral).

I am getting the white flower (magnolia?- novice) and salty/marine notes. Just try before buy.

ViouAmara

A realistic and a little bit old-fashioned (and so good!) flower, fleshy, bold, delicately salty. The so-called masculine woody dry down is only pure serenity on my skin, the shadow in the garden where the languid light illuminates the secret Venetian beauty, the opulent and fragile woman behind her solar mask. This is true art. Bravo.

mhegu13

The opening smells really good i almost thought id buy the full sized bottle but i when ive read about this smelling masculine on the dry down, i tried to wait for an hour or so and to my surprise, it's true! Im also disappointed😣 but it lasts long only, i dont.like it 😔

CookieMonster007

I tested this on my way out of the mall, it smelled great outside in a very cold weather. Several minutes later, it dried down to somewhat masculine almost like a cool water scent. I cannot believe this is how it smelled like. I’m disappointed.

GoodVibrations

A truly enjoyable and whisperingly elegant expression of everything fresh and invigorating about water, woods, flowers, and citrus. There’s also a solemn lily note that may remind one of somber times. The abstraction of the composition offers a unique tone, even if it gives off the old Kenzo watery wood vibe from time to time. The squeaky clean simplicity of the composition renders it appropriate for nearly every occasion. It also offers a step up in quality to the Jardin series.

churinl

Easily my favorite of the Jardin series, a position previously held by sur la Toit. The combination of marine notes with the magnolia is amazing, and the marine seems to enhance the lemony facets of magnolia, creating a citrus accord. The lily brings a light floralcy to the combination, and serves to soften the sharper edges of the marine notes. I haven't a clue about pitosporum, but the woody notes ground the whole thing. The composition is very symbiotic and the notes seem to fit together nicely, bringing out the nuances of each other.

My guess is that this would be magnificent in summer, which will improve on silage and longevity. Will likely purchase a full bottle before then.

giri-boni

To me, this beautiful scent opens with a very "red" citrus, a very bloody orange, a very peppery one. There may be a little "melon" in there, but that is something I was led to believe after looking at the "sea notes". Do not get magnolia, though Magnolia for me smells like a lemon cheesecake and defilitely there is a zesty vibe to it. Very good fragrance but I wouldn't buy it as it leans masculine

Aussiegal

On a sample card, this fragrance smells ‘nice’. Nice enough for me to be intrigued about how it will smell on my skin. After just a sample spray on my skin, I am taken aback by the dreamy notes in this gorgeous scent.
From the first spray, it was a strong floral and not really my style at all. Let the alcohol evaporate and the dry down brings a gorgeous magnolia and powdery white wood aroma. Ahhh, this is beautiful, even 3 hours later.
I’ll be back to buy the full size this week!
If you’re not usually drawn to floral scents, do yourself a favour and try this one!

aqua76239

this is my least favorite out of Un Jardin collection-total scrubber. its woody floral thats very sharp and abrasive. Maybe even a bit soapy. It actually reminded me of Twilly but Twilly was softer and more tolerable. And of course, it lasts and lasts. Frangrances I can't stand always stick to my skin like glue. Not for me. I can't wear it at all

LaMaroc

I tried a factory sample of this that I received in a Sephora online order. The is the first time in a long time that a fragrance gave me a headache and a first for any Hermès (a house whose product I love and own many of, including all of the others in the Jardin line). This was linear magnolia and pink pepper (not listed, I know) on top of buzzing laundry musks that, in the end, never went away. I had to scrub, scrub, scrub the back of my hand where I'd applied it and then wash both hands and forearms, change my clothes. Later, I had to wipe my cat down because she smelled of it! lol The last time I can remember having this kind of intense reaction was to Balenciaga Florabotanica. That one actually gave me welts as soon as it hit my skin. This one was not that aggressive, fortunately.

ceilstrakna

Sigh. Just soapy on me. YMMV.

Treslicious

The most interesting and deviant member of Un Jardin family. While all the other ones were putting typically good-smelling things from nature into a bottle (grass, lemon, kumquat, green mango, jasmine, etc.), easy to appreciate, this one challenged my nose a little. My initial impression was salty, fishy smell of decomposing plants with a strong “wet” feel. Despite that odd visual, it’s a fact that plants release gas while decomposing and give off a strong scent, and that scent is not necessarily repulsive (same reason people like the smell of beaches). It’s a scent that I would initially deem “weird” but can not stop smelling. It’s “weird” but intoxicating. When I first smelled the sample I thought immediately that this was not for me...but then I kept wanting to smell it again... so I ended up buying a bottle...

I see the woman who wears this to be low-key, relaxed and sophisticated. She has seen it all and now she cares about substance and comfort more than styles and trends. She would never force herself into clothes that don’t feel good against her body to look good because she dresses for herself. She would also never pretend to like something or be someone when it doesn’t feel true. When I meet her, I will be so intrigued and want to be her.

While I think all the other Un Jardin are good for age 15 to 100, this one requires some sophistication to pull off. If I smelled this on a teenager I would probably think that’s a strong and “interesting” BO.

chicagogirl

It's a nice perfume but does not stand out or feel special IMO. Very generic smelling. The waxy, sweet magnolia is definitely strong in this one. There is a harshness to it too though, maybe from the wood note? I also totally get the water notes in this, they bring a casual vibe to this fragrance. It doesn't feel too formal or fancy but isn't totally casual either. This SCREAMS spring time. The light water notes matched with the strong magnolia are perfect for slightly warm weather. This is perfect for a spring outdoor wedding, a tea party, brunch with your bffs at an outdoor cafe, etc. While I can see it being a spring perfume I feel like it's too strong and sweet for summer. It would get overwhelming. It's also way too floral for fall/winter, at least for my taste. Overall this perfume is not interesting and is not versatile at all.

Forever Neil

Kind of weird but when I first wore this I wasn't crazy about it. A year later after receiving a huge sample of this from Nordstroms, I really like this a lot. White floral with marine makes for a very different but interesting fragrance. I wore it in the Miami heat, and it was pleasurable. I can understand how some say this fragrance leans feminine though. Light sillage. There is nothing harsh about this fragrance. Lagune is just a beautiful pleasant skin scent which some may note as having a powdery drydown, although it's not really powdery. Lagune starts to go there, but it doesn't. I can understand why some may say Lagune turns powdery because there isn't a more descriptive term I can think of. The drydown gives off a citrus neroli vibe.

Caldrumr

On first sniff, this one made me think very generic "girly" perfume you could expect from any celebrity hocking their wares at Kohl's.
However, after I left it sit for a little bit, the beautiful, fragrant and realistic magnolia opened up and belied that earlier sentiment.
If you are a fan of magnolia scents, you are sure to like this one. Clean, pure and real.
However, it is extremely feminine. I like the idea of unisex perfumes, but this is likely going to push that sentiment pretty far out of the comfort zones of most men.
That being said, I can certainly appreciate it for what it is. Quite pretty.

KBreckenridge

Under "this perfume reminds me of" section, I put Britney Spears Curious. They are both magnolia-centered scents with powdery, citrusy, aquatic and woodsy notes. Both very pretty. I like Sur la Lagune a lot. I used up a bottle and that in itself is a feat. It's pretty, elegant and easy to wear. Lasts all day and with good sillage, but it doesn't feel suffocating. What more could I ask? They did a great job on this one!

Angelsivory

Upon spraying this I catch a good amount of powdery note, but not the dull, synthetic, sickly powder you have probably smelled before. It is much more lively, fresh, organic, most likely the white florals. Think of a cool breeze blowing through someone’s clean white clothes on a beautiful field of delicate flowers and nearby is the sea and some fallen branches. It’s nostalgic in a way like I been here before and I want to experience it again.

gmr1967

Definitely a fragrance out of all schemes, original and particular. Which is not acclaimed by a large audience but, for this very reason, it caught my attention. The Maison tells a story of a lagoon garden lost and found in the memory and imagination of the perfumer nose. A garden of the Venetian lagoon represented by this salty opening that recalls the salty smell typical of the Venetian streets. Those who have visited Venice perfectly remember this very particular smell. In the fragrance the brackish note is softened by the magnolia and the lily which maintain the pungent note of the fragrance. The notes of pittosporum, an evergreen and very robust shrub, which is almost always found in gardens to create perennial shrub bushes, give that particular green scent. Over the course of the hours the fragrance changes until it gives those warm woody notes that accompany the dry down of the perfume. A masterpiece!!

nicolasnmc

Lagune is probably my least favorite of the line. However I don’t find it as distasteful as many seem to. Actually for me is biggest downfall is smelling a little average. I mainly get a salty ocean note with white florals underneath. It’s actually a pretty smell if just slightly unoriginal. This does project fairly heavily for the Jardin line- the best performance next to Mediterranee from the line. Leans feminine.

kkaattjjeess

I received a tester of this and I quite liked it and was surprised to see all these negative reviews.

For some reason, this reminds me of the Pret a Porter (Coty) perfume, might sound ridiculous and like the most random thing ever, but this association makes me so nostalgic, Pret a Porter was one of the handful of perfumes you could get in post-communist Eastern Europe when I was growing up.

This perfume doesn't turn "manly" on me, or maybe it kinda does very slightly, but in a lovely way? This is an interesting perfume, I like it.

arsalan

JCE will be sad

Asoss

Really fresh and summery opening, it really is reminding me of Venetian lagune holidays and I mean it in the best way possible, it's not summer on the beach perfume, it's summer in the city perfume. At the end it turned too masculine for me, so I passed it on to my husband.

orientalvanilla

really surprised about all the negative comments and ratings... if you love your floral aquatics, you're probably gonna enjoy this one too. lovely in the summer heat.

rebred

I love this warm sultry fragrance. It is marine and flowery and a little musky. It’s a warm floral that clings to your skin. This is more flora and less green than Jardin sur la nil, which I also love.

sunnyewe

This perfume should come with a warning. The fragrance itself is actually quite pleasant: to me a mix of aquatic and flower notes with some baby powder feel. However, spraying it on skin gave me a terrible rash and I have tried hundreds of other perfumes with no issues. Not recommended for those with sensitive skin.

Zahraa555

I like it!
It is floral, woody, a bit salty and I get an aquatic feel with this one.The Magnolia note is prominent. It is a powdery and mature scent. Not for everyone though. I would put it in the same category as coco mademoiselle.

However, I would say it is not as unique as the rest of the collection in my opinion.
Classy and refreshing.

Longevity: 7/10

dzingunyte

Compliments from my boss. He said it filled all room when i came in. And i really do enjoy this in this hot weather.

Elfactory

It is quite beautiful and light. I can detect what I believe is a gentle magnolia over a base of woods, and the woody base gives it a depth and austerity that most freshies lack. You can get the same woody note in Hugo Boss For Her Absolute. I do not detect any aqueous or marine note but perhaps that is where the general fresh accord is coming from. Thankfully, the freshness isn't from citrus.

I don't generally gravitate towards fresh, garden inspired scents, but if I plan to get one for out-in-the-sun days, it might be this, though I'm not sure I'd invest USD$101 or thereabout in this perhaps-too-light-for-me scent.

Testing this for the second time on my right arm, in comparison to Gucci Bamboo on my left arm, makes the Bamboo sickly, soapy sweet in a seemingly unnatural way. I know Bamboo has many lovers but I need to scrub it off my arm once I'm done typing this. The gentle Hermes, however, I'll leave it to linger till it fades.

Edit: To be fair to Gucci Bamboo, the drydown (a few more reviews down the road) now smells less soapy and is no longer sickly, and seems to have chamomile poking its head out. UJSLL on the other hand, has not seemed to morph into anything woodier or deeper. It just remains quite linear but is now purely a skin scent.

diego.lesgart

marcel2782

This seems to me like an Hermes take on that L’Eau Super Majeure d’Issey mineral scented water smell, but here done in spades I might add. Way, way better, with a beautiful floral pinch adding refinement and interest; plus the water note here is cleaner and doesn't have the potential to resemble sewer like Issey does sometimes. A very simple fragrance proposal, but here finally done very well plus average (which is somewhat weak in nowadays standards, mind you) performance.

Austrian_in_Denmark

I must say that I felt shocked by Un Jardin Sur La Lagune. I expect a lot from the Jardin series, because I like or even love (Sur le Nil, Sur le Toit) all the other perfumes. And I am a fan of many of Nagel's perfumes: Miss Dior Cherie, Twilly, Flash, and especially Hypnose Senses - which is not very popular, but one of my favourites.

Sur La Lagune smells to me like something sweet and fishy that was dragged out of the sea water and is now rotting on some wood that is also turning putrid...Sorry if I am offending fans of the scent with this. I do not mean to rain on anyone's parade, but Sur La Lagune actually made me sick to the stomach, and I think people should know that it can have this effect. I myself did not see that coming.

drawingmaniac35

I have read tons of negative reviews about this one but I am here to defend it. To my nose, it is a fresh uplifting scent. As sensous_5877 mentioned, it is like a hoodie sprayed with men's cologne.

I cannot see my boyfriend during the lockdown and this scent kind of evokes a feeling that he is with me. I don't really distinguish any particular notes, that's why I find it very well blended. I also usually don't go for freshies as they often rely heavily on citrus notes and those tend to turn bad on my skin. Un Jardin Sur La Lagune is a freshie I can wear and a freshie I love. It is a marine green floral scent that I will most definitely buy again after I finish my bottle.

ajagrze

I can't see the artistry in this one. The notes are squashed together into an accord that doesn't make sense to me. The overall effect is neither conceptually convincing, nor pleasant to smell. With its treatment of white florals, it reminds me of Zadig & Voltaire's La Purete for men. Both bring to mind a bar of yellow soap. The difference being, I liked La Purete for its coherence, while this one I don't. Christine Nagel has made a lot of beautiful fragrances, some of which for Hermés. This one is not one of them. For a more pleasant interpretation of the Venetian Lagoon, I'd suggest Bottega Veneta's Parco Palladiano VII: Lillà.

sensous_5877

Powerful + grounded, spicy + salty...
- woods and spices
- sharp white flowers
- aromatic/salty marine tone

For me, HERMES Un Jardin Sur La Lagune does not dissapoint and lasts quite a bit.

As I mentioned some posts before, I looove wearing a hoodie that smells like men's cologne on a cool summer night.
This is the frag. I always reach for then.

Michelle12345678

As promised, salty notes with white flowers. I actually think that the magnolia is quite lovely here. And you can still smell it on the drydown. The marine notes can come off as astringent.

Rockstarjan

God this is such an alcoholic scent. It’s so bad. At first it’s a light white floral little number but that straight bitter strong alcohol hits you right across the face afterwards. It reminds me of a cologne my friend from high school would douse himself in making it hard for me to even sit in front of him during class. It’s so sharp, I hate it. There’s so many floralesque fragrances that you can find that smells just like the top notes, it’s not anything special AT ALL. But that sharp aftertaste gives me a headache that is not worth the price. Definitely steer away from this one. Unless you’re into smelling like alcohol and lilies

arsalan

This is bad, I don't know what happened to Hermes, JCE used to make such good fragrances for Hermes. Nagel, on the other hand, hasn't made any banger.

baerro

I left a review a while back, but I just wanted to add that I've tried this in the winter, now, and it works unexpectedly well in cold weather. This can truly be worn all year.

Abstract flowers too quickly crushed by an invading and overdominant calone-ambroxan complex.
Actually, as I blind bought this last summer and put it away wondering what I could ever do with it, this winter it turns out as a nice base, after an hour or two, for overlaying figue or rose based juices like Boulevard des Anglais or Rose Kabuki, with an undenyably amplifying effect.
Still, Christine Nagel should be more careful regarding the dose of her chemicals.

Agreed this one is very disappointing (subjectively of course - the only way scent can be evaluated) especially for an Hermes. Agree with Olympea comparison - might just not be my notes as I'm not a huge sea note fan, but I can usually appreciate it if it's a quality blend. Anyhoo not for me, Salty sea and woods with some sweetness.

I feel this has a bit of Armani eau aromes molecule mixed with something else.
To be honest this doesn’t seem worthy of a Hermès creation.
Very disappointing.
