Very neutral to me. I get way more rose and powder than any lactonic or nutty notes. Curious if the same goes for the full size spray (which is a stunning design), as tester dabber bottles for me are usually *less* powder/floral than the spray ends up being. Without a more water based note I feel as though this ages you a little. I think I’m going to use it as my gym scent for now and hope that in action some of that expensive perfume alcohol linger wears off. Gives the vibe of walking into a Macy’s at 6 years old but in a good way.

swedishmilk15

INTENSE love! Soft and cool like white cotton sheets. I love fragrances such as this, which express tenderness withouth cloying warmth. Lilac is there of course, but this isn't a soliflore. The bottle is wonderful, too. I like to hold it against my chest with my fingertips in the depression, or look through it and see my hand pressed against the glass from the opposite side. It's always enjoyable when a bottle gives a tactile or kinetic experience that matches the scent inside.

HippyDippy57

Very reminiscent of some 90s perfumes such as Ocean Dream and Cacharel's Eau d'Eden, in particular. Cool, elegant and aquatic. Really beautiful. Longevity and sillage are reasonable. Only thing I'm not keen on is the bottle design; I agree that it is beautiful, but the spray mechanism is not great because of the shape of the bottle.

gozdesaygin

Yoğun olarak badem ve leylak kokusu alıyorum. Miskle bütünleşip rahatlatıcı bir kokuya dönüşüyor. Bahar aylarına çok yakışıyor.

mewitthaus

Definitely not a dupe by any stretch but if you love Bubble Bath by Replica I think you’ll love this too. They hit many of the same beats with the mild solar/aldehyde qualities combined with creamy accords and cozy florals. Bubble Bath is definitely more soapy while the lilac is the star here but both are a gorgeous and interesting clean lactonic scents.

angelbeast

Oh, that almond milk is absolutely to die for, wrapped in a gentle rose and lilac...creamy, clean, comforting, it's like being smothered in the most luxurious lotion imaginable. What a gem!

loves2read

Another fragrance that was just too weak for me. It lasted 5 minutes on my skin.
Never mind, there are other great fragrances that I love.

Vellocet

This smells like the beloved Nivea creme with a hefty dose of almonds, which is awesome. Creamy and comforting.

Anastasia.A

Fresh lilac fragrance. 8/10

Atabey_H

I was hoping to like this one, but I find it too chemical-smelling to the point it scratches my throat somehow. Pass

rosyrose1313

This smells exactly like lilac bushes! Beautiful realistic lilac with some milkiness (musk? almond?) which give it that skincare lotion vibe. Great projection too. I love anything nivea/talcum/musky/floral so this is a favourite.

PennyRobbins

A soft and gently powdery scent, clean and unobtrusive to a fault. There's nothing wrong with this scent, but there's equally nothing particularly memorable about the scent. The almond milk was quite prominent initially and it became a creamy lotion-like scent. It would make a good office scent, it adds to the air of being well put together, whilst flying under the radar. This conjures up a gentlelady (or whatever the feminine equivalent of a gentleman is), in a soft linen suit, wandering through a cobblestoned town with a basket of lilacs. She is a moment in time, but not one to be repeated.

January420

This is a blind buy. Not disappointed. It has a hairspray smell to it. The lilac is there, it also smells a bit like gardenia, I can smell the almond and lactonic notes in the dry down. It’s a pretty floral scent

elyena

I like it and the lilac note is very lovely but I simply cannot with the overwhelming Tide/laundry detergent scent. It's just too laundry detergent for me - certainly not off-putting to smell in general, but not something I want to wear. Still on the hunt for a proper lilac for me.

Anamandy

This is just too chemical on me. By the time the chemical smell gives up the ghost it is all but a skin scent. A nice skin scent as it smells like powdery lilacs, but a skin scent, nonetheless. Reminds me of the chemical scent I get in a lot of JHAG fragrances that I intensely dislike.

Shanti011

It's beautiful, lyrical and easy on the senses. It's nourishing on an energetic level without sacrificing elegance for comfort. It possesses serene grace and the fresh, creamy, clean, contented glow of Hygge. My husband, who rarely comments on my fragrances, smiled, "you have a very nice scent about you this evening."

Nahobino

stinkyfrog's review captures the experience of this divine fragrance so well.

A Drop d'Issey is perfectly:
- Floral
- Creamy
- Fresh
- Comforting

Yes, it is a perfume that smells like lotion (a luxurious lotion at that) but isn't that the point of A Drop d'Issey? In a market oversaturated with overly sugary and syrupy gourmands, A Drop d'Issey's being a clean lilac fragrance with no gimmick to it is, dare I say, revolutionary.

vin4a

Got this as my first blind buy and was so happy with it, amazing clean everyday scent with good projection and solid longevity. Really enjoy the slight creaminess, takes the edge off of the "freshness" of the fragrance

dilettantes

Gorgeous lilacs and a fat daub of lotion. It might start out soapy but gets creamy and rich on the dry down.

This website will tell you that any floral is a spring/summer fragrance, but to me this is a scent for January/February/March, or chilly early April days at the latest: to my nose the lotion-y note is too thick and cloying for warmer weather, but it carries beautifully in cold air. This is a scent for when you're bored of warm-spicy cold-weather fragrances and want something floral and fresh but it's still very much winter. I'd love to smell it on a snowy day. Wear with a big soft white sweater and puffy white jacket.

toosimilar

very classy lilac!
immediately bringing you to spring!

had to come back and review this beauty after obtaining a full bottle and getting acquainted with it... but tldr: this is absolutely magical and i'm completely in love

a drop has to be the most unique "clean" fragrance i've ever experienced. normally i'm not one for smells of this genre, as i'm averse to the scent of laundry detergent (or detergent-esque things), and i like to wear fragrances that have a bit of funkiness if you will. luckily this really really pleases me. it opens with the most beautiful and realistic lilac + jasmine combo, but lilac is certainly the focus. it's bright and soft and joyful, like a hug from your favorite person. the dry down accentuates the delightful almond milk note, which is what i believe makes this fragrance so special. it really does smell milky, nutty, and a bit woody and musky, but with the soft scent of flowers and creamy dove soap always lingering in the background.

this may be a strange comparison, but smelling this reminds me of the beauty in simplicity that i revere in a traditional japanese breakfast, which i excitedly eat for lunch every single day. something about the meal as a whole - warm miso soup, fluffy jasmine rice, and flaky fish - brings me an incredible amount of comfort that's hard to describe, and i feel the same way about a drop d'issey. it's a fragrance that's perfect for any time of day, any season, and any mood, but especially if you want to wear something easy, clean, and soothing to the soul. i love the bottle design and the sprayer too. everything about this fragrance is perfect, and it's quickly become one of my favorites. 10/10 will never be without this <3

Reser

A Drop deserves much more praise and popularity. Starts similar to Nivea smell, in the best way possible. After 45 min, a photo realistic lilac takes the stage, mixed at some point with a refreshing note. Many hours later, the drydown goes back to a luxury moisturizing cream. Longevity +12h

celestanna

Surprisingly accurate almond milk note, blending seamlessly with refreshing lilac and jasmine on my skin. The combination is beautiful, offering a light yet creamy scent. The vanilla, though present, doesn't dominate, creating a well-balanced perfume. Definitely going to wear this often in springtime. Even my mother, who typically dislikes milk notes, appreciates this fragrance. Quite unexpected!

Colett

Very nice scent! No disappointment at all. Pure lilac nothing else

Yessamin

The most realistic lilac perfume I have ever smelt. I absolutely adore this.

Tester card says:

A drop magnifying the beauty of nature.

A solar lilac accord enlightened by a musky note and an almond milk facet.

lrobin8205

Reminds me very much of Anais Anais.

zokhruf.omer

Cloying. Headache inducing floral. Commercial toilet cleaner vibes.

fuzzypeach

A fragrance for people who like to smell very clean and moisturised but also kind of ethereal. Almond oil over Dove bar soap, or whatever the fairy garden equivalent of Dove bar soap is. soft-skin-just-out-the-shower, organic cotton everything, dew drop on lilac

hebamuhamed

I would always get compliments and get asked what i have on with this, it fit in every situation and every outing, don't even know how to explain it but its a very comfortable smell to have on you, you smell clean and fresh, some may say it just smells like soap and to a certain point it does but not a cheap soap or overpowering soapy smell, just clean. I got it as a sample first and when i tried it (at night) it had the longest longevity and even I was able to smell it on me for hours which was very much making me feel confident in the setting i am in and that's how it always was when I got a full size, i had the set of 50ml perfume and 50ml hand cream and sadly i used the perfume all the time its finished, still got the hand cream tho so that's a plus. I would definitely repurchase it one day.

Silverbell

A good clean scent, a really photorealistic lilac smell that throws me back to my childhood playing outside in the garden beside the fence with lilacs. It almost smells like a Dove bar or moisturizer in the neutral scent, which makes it a good quiet scent if you want to smell out of the shower or have a perfume that isn't too sweet or overpowering. The only thing I don't really like is the almond milk, it ruins the lilac a little bit, I would be happier if it wasn't that overpowered. The longevity is good though, I can smell it during the whole school day (6-8 hours) Overall I'm pleased with this perfume and I will use it day by day to school.

Ground hound

Realistic enough lilac tree flowers on a clean cotton sheet on a sunny day.
Floral, clean, not zesty-clean, more like laundry-clean.
It`s not too nutty. I am not a big fan of nutty notes as often they prove to be nauseating (imo) but this is not the case. Here the light nutty note works together with the powder and the vanilla.

Although the bottle has this Noa by Cacharel vibe, the two perfumes have very little in common.

Overall- great, simple, clean, feminine, slightly powdery scent.

madfluffy

This is one of my favorite fragrances ever. Didn't know how I love lilac... Before few years I've smelled lilac oil from some diffuser and immediately this throw back me years ago when each spring my mother bring to our home lilac blossoms. She was so happy to feel this amazing scent, but my childish soul was "whatever...". Now I miss her but at lest I can smell the lilac.
This is absolutely photorealistic lilac.

2wn

When I first smelled this perfume, it reminded me of how I think my babysitter must have smelled back in the early 2000s. It's warm and comforting but not matronly; rather, it's soft and modern. For me, the almond milk is the star of the show initially. It lends a cereal quality to the perfume, almost brown rice. As it softens, the lilac comes out and lingers for several hours before softening even further into a warm skin scent. Once I get a full bottle of this, I'm sure it will become one of my go-to scents. Beautiful!

just28

It's beautiful and nostalgic to me, even though I tried it for the very first time a couple of days ago.
It has a soft, polite, kind, personality. It's fluffy like a little white cloud. Its clean like a basket of laundry dried and warmed by the sun.
It makes me sad for some reason. It reminds me of summer afternoons when I was a kid playing in my grandmothers backyard, smelling the flowers in the air. A souvenir very far away. The feeling of being safe and cared for.
Cozy. Like a hug.

AngelaAF

I'm in love with this parfume, it's simply heavenly! Since I bought it, I keep using it although I have many others and I used to change them up on the mood, dress, occasion... For one reason or another, this seems to suit me best every day for some time 😊
I feel the lilac obove other notes and for many hours. I love the smell of the lilac and I am so happy that this smells so realistic.
I am a bit picky when it comes to perfumes as my skin simply eats them...but this one stays! I can still smell it after 6-7 hours which for me is a very good performance.
I can get why some people say it smells Iike Dove or Nivea cream, it may have some milky/almond notes, but it is a lilac perfume!
For me can be easily used in any season and any occasion. It's not a sofisticated one, but a gorgeous one if you like flowers, especially lilac.
10/10

unwrappedsonnyangel

I've come to realize that I'm a little squirrel and I'm loving almondy nutty scents lately. This is a little on the powdery side, veering into fancy baby powder or a dove soap scent x1000. It is worlds better than the travesty that is L'eau d'Issey (a scent so offensive that I'm putting off reviewing it at all). It sort of veers into grandma territory, but I feel like there's a slight freshness that keeps it from that. Maybe it's for fun, kind grandmas.

AnneAnne888

I can't review it as I have yet to try it, but I do have a question....Just what are Solar Notes ? Did they harness the smell of the Sun ? lol

jaimepenney

Do NOT buy this fragrance. Please. Save it ALL for me!
This is simply gorgeous. There is nothing harsh about this. There it does not smell like licorice, in fact I had to really try hard to detect the star anise. It also smells nothing like dove soap. What it does smell like is lilacs and Almond milk. It is divine! It's balmy......solar and creamy. It smells to me of summer. I grew up in Atlantic Canada where Lilacs bloomed early in summer. This fragrance is so incredibly comforting and creamy. It's sillage is definitely an arms length and leaves a wonderful trail. It's not a complex scent.....so for those who like a fragrance that develops, this is fairly linear, but it doesn't NEED to be complex because it is just so beautiful.

nightflights

Smells like Dove soap bar.

Lula cacharel

A lily garden in a bottle 🌼🌴 summer sunset walk after a funny sea time

Octopuscentus

Smells like sweet sunscreen in the opening, then becomes something neutral.

Phbe

This is divine! The bottle is so unique and I love the packaging too.
This is perfect for everyday wear in spring and summer.

D@ne

Lovely lilac topnote - followed by a let down of Ambroxan and other cheap chemicals. Even Yves Rocher made a decent lilac that made it all the way to the drydown - how hard can it be? Or, more aptly, how much more can it cost?

Neat bottle.

Oxidia

Amazing light watery sweet freshie. Can't go wrong with this one. Lasted a full 5 hours while sweating walking around Venezia.

Leolia

Realistic lilac scent. Smells exactly like the lilacs in my garden.
Such a perfect spring scent. Love!!

Binst145

Very floral forward, realistic lilac scent. On my skin it starts off quite zesty and alcoholic, very fresh and rosy, then dries down to a fresh and realistic lilac scent, not too sweet, only lightly powdery. I am in love.

I also own Lilac Path, which I adore too.

Lilac Path is even more white floral, whereas A Drop d’Issey is fresher and smells more like lilac to me.

A drop d’issey is also quite affordable 😊

Niscensse

I just feel this fragrance deserves more recognition, the combination of lilac & almond milk are splendid! its like being in a lilac field in daytime 12:00

Siennai

Loads of anise. Nivea cream. That is all.

noodlehead19

smells like fancy, spa-grade body lotion, the kind of mini lotion you'd find on your pillow at a 5-star hotel. the lilac here is the star of the show, soapy as it is. the anise is the most interesting to me, though, and I think it plays really well with the vanilla in the dry down. longevity is average, about 6 hrs, but does NOT last well in intense heat (found this out the hard way). that being said, it's really good for days when you just want to smell nice, not necessarily like perfume if that makes sense. one of my most successful blind buys to date!

Andreea2906

The lilac soapy smell is overpowering all other notes. I wanted to like it but it's too much lilac and too few of everything else. It's a fresh generic smelling soapy lilac fragrance.

maemaex

I get a type of greenness and creaminess from A Drop d'Issey that makes me feel uncomfortable. I think the green might be the lilac note or maybe rose but it smells like crushed flower stems to me. Not so bad sounding in theory but funky and dense feeling in reality. I keep wanting to wear this but after the initial "this is pretty" I end up sorta nauseous. Not the clean easy reach I was hoping for but unique and femme, gives old school cream vibes at points. Smells like someone's signature.

nisarsarah9

I'm a lover of floral scents and this is one of my go to florals especially in the spring season. This is such an elegant scent and I love how it stays for so long on the skin. The projection & lasting is amazing. I do feel like its a little bitter on the skin at first spray but the dry down makes the smell really soft and beautiful!!

ledossa

I'm usually wary of trying new fragrances when l'm in a particularly rough patch in life (because I don't want to find a new *love* and link it with whatever hardship or pain I was experiencing during the time I first tried the fragrance)... or even, just not being in the right mind state to fully appreciate a fragrance….

But A Drop D’issey feels very comforting and very personal to me. The lactonic note feels like hug, accompanied by a gentle lilac. Interesting but simple and signature worthy... I think the wearer can ascribe whatever meaning they want to it because of its tender nature. Yes, body cream right out of the shower, “clean girl” etc. Getting yourself together to be ready to face the day even though you don't want to, that’s exactly what it’s helping me do.

I’m grateful that I decided to try this!

Laurus

I feel like this is a very unique pleasant smelling scent that works best in heat. I get anise here a lot. I have never gotten across anything like this.

LaMiaRosa

When I first sprayed this it smelled a lot like a plain body cream. As it developed over time it continued to smell like a body cream, but the jasmine and solar notes appeared, giving it the smell of a more high-end body cream that you might find in a department store or at a spa. It's clean, fresh and pleasant. My only criticism is that it's very soft and doesn't last long on my skin.

A lot of people recommend this scent as a crowd-pleaser that is perfect for the office. I can see why they would say that - this is an extremely soft and inoffensive fragrance. On the other hand, I'm surprised so many people recommend this scent as it's a bit lacking in personality, I feel. It's forgettable and not a "must", in my opinion, unless you are looking to get a scent for someone who doesn't like strong perfumey smells. But for me, this one's a bit of a wallflower.

Based on my experience I would say it's safe to blind buy but my sister tried this too and it actually reacted quite strangely with her skin. I just detected heavy jasmine and solar notes on her but she insisted it smelled like "noodles" and she had to scrub it off.

On me I mostly detected the jasmine, solar notes, lilac and musk. It was good while it lasted although I wish the scent in the opening stayed until the drydown. I actually really like that body cream smell. It gets more floral (on my skin) as time goes on. Overall it's a like but not a love.

mantispraying

at first this seemed like a bit of a predictable department-store-perfume-section scent, i was disappointed and found it uninteresting.... but it has grown on me after a few wears. i now layer it on top of pure lavender oil, to which it gifts welcome complexity. together they give a soft and very beautiful effect

aldinatic

A bit bitter at the beginning but nice at all..
The longer it's on the skin the more beautiful it is.

curlykitty8

This is a far cry from anything I have truly loved by Issey Miyake!
If you want a scent that is LINEAR, LICORICE AND LONG LASTING you will LOVE it!

Kinzie31

Whilst I like the fragrance in theory, in practice I do find the florals heady and headache-inducing. I would caution blind buying this one if this could bother you.

MariaGabrielaKristina

It's a clean,beautiful and fresh flowers aromat.

culunu

I have never been a big fan of floral scents, but I was also unaware of how diverse floral fragrances can be. A friend of mine bought this last year and I loved the scent on her, so much so that I bought it myself, and I have already finished a bottle (30 ml), and got a bigger one (90 ml)! This is a great everyday-scent as it smells clean and sweet, but not too sweet. It may not be the most unique scent, but it works well in the sense that it is not overpowering and loud, which is exactly what I want for my day-to-day life. An elegant scent!

I've been complimented on it several times, and I will continue keeping it in my collection as it is a versatile scent that I believe most people cannot go wrong with. I am usually more fond of unisex scents, but this one brings out my femininity in a classy, elegant and refreshed way.

assoula17

I finally found it! Pur Desir de Lilas by Yves Rocher replacement 😍😍 I was heartbroken when they discontinued it and replaced it with lilac mauve.
A drop d’issey is exactly the same, but a bit louder. Better silage, longevity and overall performance.
This is an extremely nostalgic and sentimental scent for me as it was my grandmother’s signature scent. This was how her hugs would smell like 🤗🥰 and for me this was my safe place. Imagine bottling up a scent of your safe place? How would you feel? Specially if said safe place no longer exists ☹️ I’m so happy I could cry!

PDDL was the reason I fell in love with lilacs and therefore began building my lilac collection, looking for a PDDL replacement.

It’s a very true lilac scent. Radiates an aura of soapy, milky clean, comforting purple florals. The almond adds lactonic sweetness. Fresh from the shower, my skin but better type of scent.

perfumesniffer

the first 20 minutes of this are gorgeous. it starts off a powdery, green lilac scent with a touch of almondy doughy florals and laundry musk. it’s very pretty and reminds me a little of Frederic Malle En Passant. it’s retro but at the same time it’s a modern, easy going freshie floral. i can imagine my grandmother loving this as well as my 18 year old niece. the trouble is, on me, it becomes barely a skin scent after an hour. spraying on clothes doesn’t help much because it smells best on skin.

Scent 9/10
Longevity 3/10
Bottle 5/10 (kinda awkward)

dreiscool

The perfume smells like a soapy clean fragrance upon initial spray, but I think later veers into a typical perfume profile as it dries down. The orange blossom I think tends to overtake the other notes, leading to a typical designer composition. I had read some of the reviews stating that this smelled like a Dove bar, but I think this has a heavier creamy quality that differentiates it from the soap's actual scent. Clean, but still perfume-y.

katerina.fel

This could have been my office scent but it is just too good for that. I love lilacs and I don't want to associate them with work, haha. Like others have said, this fits the clean girl aesthetic perfectly. Soft, feminine, no jasmine detected.
(btw. Lilac Path by Aerin is much heavier and way too green. )

bluebilledmagpie

scent of the summer that broke my heart. think heavy summer rain, crushing lilacs with your hands, folding your bedsheets at the laundromat. empty rooms, cold showers, grass stains. deliciously clean, but will forever make me weep.

Mareseis

I was looking for a lilac perfume this summer and this one was a blind one for me, and I’m so far very satisfied. To me, A Drop d’Issey starts out with a very green lilac bouquet, beautifully accented by the almond milk. It’s kind of sharp in the beginning which I do not mind as it’s also light and has that vanilla softness to it. I feel fresh and rejuvenated wearing this, and I just feel happy smelling like lilacs as it carries good childhood memories and emotions of calmness.

Noa by Cacharel has been my signature scent since 1998, and I can definitely see the resemblance here. However, Noa is at it’s best during autumn and winter for me, while A Drop might be best during spring and summer. This probably has to do with the lilac note, that I’m utterly in love with.

marialena888m

This is a clean, creamy white-musky lilac. It could work in any season, but probably better for spring through fall. Great day to day scent for office or casual use, very inoffensive. It smells like body lotion or lilac-scented shower cream. Vanilla almond milk adds a lactonic sweet touch and elevates the scent. I really like it, it’s soothing and has a relaxing effect on me, especially once it dries down (the opening is abit too soapy for my liking). I used ‘clean’ and ‘creamy’ a couple times to describe the scent, and that’s what it basically is. I personally love spraying this on after my shower, or on lazy weekends at home, snuggling with my pets and a tub of freshly popped popcorn while watching The Simpsons reruns…or for bedtime. I just love wearing it around the house more than wearing it outdoors. It has such a homebody vibe. I think the blue/green bottle flanker would be better for the hotter, humid days, this isn’t refreshing enough for the heat imho. Longevity and sillage is good enough for what it is. Interestingly, this is one of the very few perfumes my dog tolerates on me, he usually hates when I wear perfume.

Maya lilac

The most realistic lilac smell I have found so far in a perfume. It reminds me perfectly of the smell of lilac bushes that my parents had in their garden and was blooming for a couple of weeks every spring.

It has the freshest, creamiest lilac with a bit of solar notes, milkiness from almonds and the tiniest bit of spiciness from star anise.

Has a bit of sweetness that might come from the vanilla found in the dry down. And a touch of cedar and white musk in the background.

Very well blended fragrance.

Probably not the most common mix but it smells divine. Natural and clean!

This is my number one choice for the very popular trend these days, clean girl aesthetic. This is special, calming and comforting, but uplifting scent in the same time.

I am absolutely astonished to find this gem at such an affordable price and from Issey Miyake, a brand that hasn’t impressed me in a while.
If you also love lilac, this one is a must try!

Edit: September 2023 I just got a second full size bottle of this!

astralmonad870

I’ve been finding myself making references to this perfume constantly as it is such an (quint)essential staple in my collection. Why couldn’t another white floral scent (Commodity’s Magnolia) be as multi-dimensional and comforting, and why couldn’t another solar note white floral scent (Nettare di Sole by Guerlain) be as well-executed? It’s difficult to pair white florals with notes like almond milk and vanilla that bring out their creaminess and best facets. At worst they smell generic paired with only citrus and turn out to be boring and disappointing, worth returning. Here I don’t detect jasmine by itself because it is so well-blended and yet it lends a slightly indolic note to the greener orange blossom.

watched over

Sampling this today. So far, I say this is very soapy, a little creamy and floral at the same time. Yep, everything that's already been mentioned. However, it's stronger than I'd expected but lovely, nonetheless. I will continue to use up my little sprayer and then decide if I have to have a FB. (sure wish EVERY scent was available in 10ml sprayers)

Rainstorm

Lovely. Tried this and the au Fraiche version today in store. Immediately preferred this. This is soft, soapy, calming, creamy, and comforting. It’s also got the lilac which gives it a fresh floral touch but is nicely blended so doesn’t feel too standout. I enjoyed it and now think this is added to my want list 🤦♀️

Andy224

A must have!! Really nice and creamy/soapy, delicate scent. Smells like Straight up Dove’s soap/cream. Love the bottle too!

Mona708

So far, this is my favorite Issey Miyake fragrance out of all of the ones I’ve tried. It reminds me of a cross between Byredo’s Blanche minus the soapy notes and whatever gave me migraines and 1881 Cerruti minus the chamomile. I got a good six hours of wear time from this, which is pretty good. It’s light and inoffensive without being utterly boring- a great dump grab for casual occasions.

Kikuyu

It reminds me of Energizing Fragrance Shiseido.

Zaid Hussein

A perfume suitable for a lady with delicate fingers 😂 A delightful fragrance suitable for daily use

Lalex

I'm very pleased, it's very soothing aroma. I don't mind if evaporates more quickly than other fragrances. I really wanted to try this from long time and I'm not disappointed from my blind buy. On my skin stay as a creamy-milky-lilac from begin to the end. I plan to wear it as my spring one, but who knows.

Toady89

I've just received a 30ml today. It was a blind buy but I'm so glad I got it. It smells absolutely beautiful. Clean and fresh with a milky/powdery touch. It's exquisite. Like a watching the rain on a spring day in your softest pyjamas. Reminds me of a younger sister of Cacharel's Noa. Only issue I have is it evaporates quite quickly so have to be more generous with the sprays. But all in all a very lovely comforting scent.

Im_only_lurking

You get lilac the first 10 minutes, then almonds overpower it. After 30 minutes it turns to that same old issey miyake scent and after 5 hours it is completely gone. I only tested it on skin btw.

Even though this is trying to give spring I could only see this worn by a basic white collar employee in some old timey corporate cubicle who doesn't want to offend anyone by their presence. A bit harsh, I know, but you gotta give something!

The bottle looks very cool though.

banillavean

anise is a bit too much for me it shadows the almonds :(( also, the solar notes i think give off a bit of a "fresh cream" approach. if i can look past the anise, this definitely a spring perfume i want to purchase after i empty some of mine. so far, this in one of the most "clean baby" scents ever that i have managed to find. longevity is okay/good. i sprayed one wrist with this and the other with chloe signature and this was gone before chloe but it still managed to stay for 6ish hours.

svetik26

My husband bought me the fragrance on our anniversary i love the scent but unfortunately it doesn't last long,it very weak .
I absolutely love jasmine in a fragrance and especially issey miyake perfumes but this one disappeared from my skin like in 3 hours no more so i don't appreciate it .

Mother Nurgle

This is a pretty lactic floral. More creamy than fresh - including a whiff of sour milk in the dry down. Not quite off-putting, but a bit weird. Like breast milk. I get no lilac, but the other flowers happily take its place. So soft and comforting with noticable base notes: musk, ambroxan, cedar, and vanilla. Sadly longevity is less than desired.

astralmonad870

This smells extremely similar to Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. White florals with a somewhat boozy rum like accord from almond and vanilla and a hint of lilac. There is also a hint of greenness from the orange blossom that I like, although it isn’t listed on the accords here. I will happily treat my full bottle of this as a replacement for Velvet Orchid.
Rather than being a signature scent for everyday wear, this is a scent for special occasions. Date nights, etc. It would be a bit headache-inducing to wear this every day.

The original that I got smells intense but the clone from Divain Perfumes that I have is a gentler spring version I like.

Patricia353

Drydown on me is 95% hypnotic poison. Very almondy, creamy soft beautiful

Harley522

This is very creamy and round scent, so the shape of the bottle is a great representation of the juice inside. I find this perfume super pure and attractive. It’s so much more than just a smell of body cream and fabric softener. It’s unique. It has anime vibe.

LanaDelSlay

Picture pure white soap in water, with bubbles, cleaning your clothes with it in Spring. That's the smell

alternateu

Lovely perfume - I predominantly wear it to work because it's so clean and inoffensive.
It is a very creamy (from the almond milk and the hint of vanilla) but without being ever too sweet, solar, bright, floral perfume.
Very comforting, very clean, and feminine. I love that it's not sweet, but just really creamy.
Very linear (great for work), and great longevity and projection on my skin.
I liked it at first smell, but have come to like it even more after regularly wearing it. It's so comforting and easy. The rose/lilac/jasmine/orange blossom are really well blended to my nose, I don't get a particular flower that jumps out at me, it's a very rounded and well-blended scent. It DOES give a little bit of that "fabric softener" "shampoo" vibe because it's so clean.

CoffeeLuva

I can't wait to wear this in summer. Wearing it now is still good, but kind of a cool scent. I really like it. It's fresh, but not like the other aquatic or green fresh scents that I have. I don't have many fresh florals, so I'm enjoying this one.

PerfumedParrot

A lovely opening which is like Downy April Fresh fabric conditioner, but this only lasts for the first 5 minutes. A smoky element briefly comes in (which is also very enjoyable) before a bitterness takes over for the remainder of the scent. This bitterness reminds me of the thin brown skin of a peanut and it ruins the fragrance for me. Shame, as the opening is enticing.

lechickpea

This is the smell of a woman rubbing white body cream on her skin right after a shower, with a bouquet of freshly cut flowers nearby. I'm not really getting anything milky, or almondy. Very much a soft, laundry-clean scent to smell groomed and fresh.

EDIT: upgrading this to a "love". When I'm in the mood for clean girl vibes, this is so perfect. It has overtaken my Dior Pure Poison for that role in my collection.

Lula cacharel

It's natural egyptian jasmine with the whole process of pick it up from the tree through All its phase it do exactly smell true natural jasmine love it sooo much and almond I only recognizer it as a smoky aspect as in mon eclat oriflam. Just the almond smell like this always to me

PLANT_POT_HEAD

I can't smell anything lilac, which is exactly why I bought it. The second I smelled it, I thought 'This is spring in a bottle. I want it.' I absolutely love this fragrance but the longevity and sillage are poor (at least for me)

stephanienwc

This is a sunny day in your white cashmere sweater. It is powdery, musky and floral - mostly lilac and some jasmine. It smells a bit mature to me but I quite like it. It's doesn't hit you in the face but it definitely is noticeable.

QuincesI

For me it is indeed very lilac/lactic, and I actually find the bottle rather amusing (the cap is like a piece of rubber that can be pressed under the finger).

It is indeed a little weak at the beginning but I find the evolution pretty, soft, deeper than what you would tend to expect. It gives me a solar floral milky feeling, in which I could almost feel a tuberose base (though it should be more the lilac/badian/orange flower aspect).

It does, however, have that slightly heavy, heady, mainstream perfume feel that you recognize when it's there, but I wouldn't mind smelling it more in comparison to other monsters. Well, I wouldn't buy it, but I certainly don't mind it either.

Sniffathon

Not going to lie, I’ve become a bit of a niche snob but have decided to branch back into designer fragrances. This was a blind buy and a successful one at that. Although it does smell a little generic and crowd pleasing as designer fragrances should, it is lovely nonetheless.
An almondy, slightly creamy, musky, jasmine-y bottle full of sunshine. It is clean smelling, slightly lotion-like, and quite easy to wear. The overall nuttiness is subdued, and the almond is not marzipan like which I am pleased about. The Jasmine is softened by the accompanying florals. I can’t quite detect the star anise or the rose. It’s quite soft and feminine. A lovely everyday-worthy scent for springtime or cooler summer days.

EDIT - in the dry down, the ambroxan is just not vibing with me.

pearl-poetry

This fragrance brings me peace. It's an extremely delicate and pure scent- optimistic, fresh, and perfect for an ingenue. There's nothing exactly ground-breaking here, but there doesn't need to be.

Update: I think I'm going to need a full bottle. I've quickly exhausted my 3 sample vials.

Youlerie

Flowery, fresh, creamy scent. Lilac and jasmine are dominant. For the serious, well-groomed woman in the office. Reminds me of "Alien" (EdP) during the course.

TaraRachelle

I love this one-- it's a fresh, clean, great spring scent. It does have lilac, which is a favorite of mine. I also have Lilac Path, but LP is more sophisticated and a bit more of a true lilac. Drop d'issey has some soapy (in a good way) notes in with the lilac.

I think it smells closer to SJP Lovely than Lilac Path. I love and own all three...but I think if you have Lovely, you probably don't need this as well because they are extremely close. I probably won't repurchase since SJP Lovely can be bought so cheaply, but this is a very nice clean scent with decent sillage and lasting power (about the same as SJP).

Glassfury

I was in love with this when I first sniffed it - it was the almond, milky accord rather than the lilac that hooked me in, and I nearly bought a full bottle.

Then I noticed this scent elsewhere. I sniffed it in restaurant bathrooms, soaps, even in the tsubaki Japanese hair oil I use. There's a tacky sweetness in that lilac accord, a generic sort of eastern Oriental floral note that feels synthetic and cheap. The association ruined this scent for me.

The Fragrant Zebra

I’d really like to smell the clean, fresh smell everyone seems to smell. I smell the same, generic yuck I’ve gotten from all Issey Miyake fragrances I’ve tried. Waited for the dry down, but it’s still a no go. I’ll be passing this bottle on.

Coriemulvey

Old fashioned PINK Downey fabric softener.. and that’s it.

Yami666

The opening smells like a clean textile, not sure what kind of textile but definitely not cotton, not something im familiar with nor it makes me feel at home. I do smell the almond milk vibe but it's quite odd to find it there, like, am i sipping a milk on the freshly cleaned slightly classy bed cover...? Then there comes the lilac , our main character of this bottle. Definitely pretty, fresh, almost gives me the sense of freshly plucked lilac just after the morning dew has evaporated by the sun.

There, i wish the shifting would just end there, leaving me with a breeze of lilac scent. But not so fast, the smell of... something synthetic, almost remind me of a car interior, which i assume it is coming from the orange blossom, pushed the lilac away and all the clean bedroom scene turned into sitting in a car enduring my motion sickness.

This scene then changed again. After feeling sick, the car apparently stopped and let me get down to breathe for fresh air, the air that filled with subtle mixed flowers and a hint of spices. In this situation, The sky is clear and the sun is warm.

It seems like everything has gotten under control after that layer of scent. It gets more stable with less sudden shifting with vanilla slowly joining the party.

AnitaHendricks

Milky almond with lilac and a subtle hint of vanilla! This combination reminds me of fabric softener. It's feminine, comfortable and clean. You can wear this perfume at any time, although it would be great after a bath!

ssamhita

This. This is what they mean when they say “a perfume that smells like Nivea lotion” or “a perfume that smells like you’ve just taken a shower” or “a perfume that simply smells clean”. I have quite a few in that category (Noa, Pure Poison, True Love) and I love each of them, but this one is the epitome of stepping out of a steamy shower and slathering lotion on your body. This is calm and comforting but oh so elegant all at the same time.

This is what your aunt’s guest bedroom smells like - yes, that rich aunt of yours who always wears white and is dressed like she’s ready to step out of the house anytime, the one who has fluffy towels and miniature lotions in her guest bathroom. You take an indulgent shower, using those fancy bath products you’d never have bought for yourself, and then when you lie down on those crisp white sheets, and look outside the window through sheer white gauzy curtains, you smile because life’s beautiful. You smell good, and you feel sorted.

I know some people have an issue with the bottle and the atomiser but I actually love how this looks like a drop of water because it represents the scent itself so well! This is pristine and pretty. This is what I’d reach for on days when I actually don’t want to wear perfume. My fourth Issey Miyake, and a favourite after L’eau D’Issey Rose & Rose.

shmellow

This is a clean scent to lightly spray on linens, or around the house to freshen up the home without smelling like you're "freshening up" the home. Also agree with below review about the awkwardness of the bottle and spray- not ideal.

RachyKnits

I really liked this fragrance however over time I found it a bit sharp for my tastes and I got a headache and itchy nose. I am very sensitive to many fragrances so I have a tester to try it out. I hope to find the perfect light scent that doesn't make my nose itch and give me a headache.

Nocciola23

This is a gorgeous perfume that lasts a long time for a freshie! It's soft, delicate and lilac with a sweet musk dry down that is to die for.
It's a simple but perfect scent.
Easy blind buy, beautiful in warmer weather.

The only negative for me is...the bottle. It's so awkward and ugly. Looks nice in a picture, but in practice it's massive, has to lie flat and the spray nozzle is this hideous rubber. What were they thinking?

AshBud

I'm so sorry, please forgive me for what I am about to say.. in my opinion, this is incredibly basic. Issey Miyake EDT is in my top three favorite perfumes for life! With A Drop, I get lilac, but not much else. No real complexity, hardly any projection. I think the fact that I own Pacifica French Lilac, which smells almost exactly like A Drop, with much stronger sillage, for a fraction of the price, is why I feel a little let down. It IS beautiful and delicate, but not worth the price tag.

Thykes10

So pretty. At first sniff, I got a creamy rose with hints of soft lilac and vanilla musk. It's much more interesting to my nose than L'Eau d'Issey. Overall has a very soft and feminine feel. The lilac makes this feel super nostalgic to me, though I don't remember having strong memories tied to lilacs. I definitely understand why other reviews mention fabric softener and lotion, but it's not a bad thing in my opinion. That's exactly what makes this a strong contender as a year-round office scent. Inoffensive, soft, and feminine.

pecanpancakes

This reminds me, as others have said, of Nivea body lotion or something similar. I really don't smell any lilac at all unfortunately, I mainly pick up the almond and solar notes.
It's nice if you're looking for something that smells like fresh-out-of-the-shower-just-applied-lotion. I don't think it's a safe blind buy if you're interested in it mainly for the lilac as I was.

karlee79

Oh my lord in heaven this is absolutely 💯 one of those scents that's totally unique like hypnotic Poison. This is just so beautiful makes me smile to find something so interesting. It's very intoxicating. The almond and the lilac mixed with star anise and ambroxin, its like a powder bomb 💣 how sexy can a perfume get, super strong and not for the faint of heart

A03

With the initial spray, I mainly pick up lilac and some musk. After some time, the creamy almond shone through, but still not overpowering the lilac. I’d say this is a very safe, but unique perfume. It almost reminds me of Nivea cream. Maybe not the most powerful, but still very pleasing nevertheless.

atticdoll

this smells like beauty.. just beauty. it makes you smell pretty. so clean, creamy and lovely 💕 what’s disappointing is this doesn’t last and has no sillage or longevity 😣 when i wear it the scent runs out fast and people never notice it. you need to spray a lot and layer it over vaseline for it to be kinda noticeable

Beatrix31

Oh, my! So easily wearable, so interesting! No harsh citruses or screechy florals, no cloying, unnaturally sweet musks or syrupy fruits... just a light, hazy softness with an element of surprise (is it the 'solar notes', I wonder?), nice touch, that is.
Could it be that I have found my morning perfume?

Thisimone

I was really looking forward to meeting this. I love l'eau d'issey and though it might be similar to it. But this made me go ew. Way too strong in the opening. Not nivea/dove cream at all. More like sharp male cologne in a dirty hospital. Maybe my nose is broken or I smelled it during the wrong season - it was Scandinavian winter here. I want to try it again in the summer to see if it changes.

puremugetto

Labelled as a soft, powdery, clean scent.
The same group like nivea, dove and noa.
But i find it too loud for a comforting scent in the opening and even after 2 hours after spraying.
For me the masterpiece of this kind is Byredo Bal D'africa.
It performs the same strength from the first spray to the end.
The composition may differ through the whole journey but never screams in your face.

chlorodream

Very delicate almond milk, heady angelic lilacs, a whisper of vanilla musk. Incredibly pretty - not for me, but for somebody softer who doesn’t swear every second sentence. Lovely is the word I’d use for this.

staceydtb

How thankful am I for randomly testing this one Sunday morning at a shop and being surprised at how calm and cosy this scent made me feel.

It's bright yet melancholy, fresh yet nostalgic. The lilac-almond combination is amazingly executed, smooth and round like its bottle. Yet I didn't pull the trigger in buying it right off the bat. I shoved the tester strip in my bag, forgot about it, and found it days after — only to be greeted with the most glorious dry-down that made me realise this was the scent I'd been looking for when I visit shops to see if there's anything to impress me. Alas, I purchased the biggest bottle available.

Lasting power is marvellous, sillage even more so. A Drop D'Issey makes for an ideal office fragrance that won't offend, and 2-3 sprays are more than enough, so go easy. If you're looking for gentle wafts of soft florals and creamy powdery notes done well, give this a try.

Flowers bloom here

This is a strange and interesting one... the opening is heady floral bubble that stays for about an hour then dries down to almond and jasmine mix, almost leaning gourmand. The performance is excellent. I only detect a hint of lilac in the opening. For those of you that are in search of that fairy lilac scent, Sheer beauty essence by Calvin Klein is the best I have found so far.

AlexandraTroush

This is truly beautiful. The opening is a strong creamy lilac, and the base really reminds me of NR's Pure Musc. It's elegant, soft, and pretty casual. This is something my mother would surely enjoy.

nellyrlight

Love this so much! Creamy lilacs..very nostalgic, does not feel outdated or old though..Love lilacs and he made it right. RIP Mr. Miyake. Love all of your perfumes.

ScentedPlaza

Light blue lilac dream! Creamy, long lasting on clothes... Whimsical and realistically smelling! A scent from my childhood memories...

nelladel

lovely, creamy, sweet and floral! for me it evokes afternoon tea on the porch on a breezy may day. i like to wear it in colder seasons, it makes me feel warmer.

isyvirgin67

This reminds of a nuttier Halloween. It's nice but not something I reach for often.

Mariaxm2

I just love it! Creamy, soft, a lot of lilac and a hint of vanilla.

BlahBlah3554

On paper, this starts off as very soapy and green, then the lilac quickly takes center stage. A warm, sunny lilac, definitely not as green as En Passant. On my skin, it's a different story for me. The lilac barely shows up and is overtaken by the almond, some nondescript white flowers and those "solar notes". I am strongly reminded of Serge Lutens' Datura Noir. A high-end sunscreen mixed with sun-warmed skin and white floral. If you're a fan of Datura Noir, definitely check this one out.

Hunnynpink

Fresh floral clean powdery sweet and creamy. Reminds me of a lilac scented lotion.

Laurus

This one was completely different on me in hot weather. In hot weather I like it because then it smells more creamy and feminine. Now that our weather has cooled down it turned sharp and masculine on my skin. This one goes to the warm season fragrance box.

mypoison

What a sensual scent! Ideal for spring. The lilac note is very realistic in this. I adore lilacs and even have them growing in my garden. This would have been a love for me without the anise. It makes this unwearable for me.

qofb

I love this one. I really love the opening especially, with that gentle creamy soft anise. You then get a little hum of lilac. It's strong but still soft. Then this moves toward body cream territory, the lilac calms down a little, the anise is still in background and it's a almond body milk. As it dries further, it tend toward a hint of sunscreen, but sweet and musky too with that anise still lurking. This one is right up my street: quiet, soft, skin like, body products and bonus time, anise and lilac. It makes me think of women in a yoga class in lilac leotards. I think I might buy this or Eau fraîche when I'm down a couple of bottles 🤦

Edit August 2023 I bought this one ☺️

kissabelle

I honestly don't know how lilacs should smell like.
I also don't get much of every other notes mentioned except almond, lilac and musk.

However, I'll imagine this will not smell offensive for office. It smells like clean laundry with lilac floral softener added.
I don't particularly love it, I told myself I'm not getting this perfume after I tested it on paper, I decided it's too floral.

But I am not sure what makes me want to keep going back and smell the almond milk now and then. Dry down is a creamy almondy musky lilac. So ok, I guess it's nice afterall. Not a safe blind buy - you have to be okay with lilacs floral and almond milk scent which is not as common as rose or jasmine.

Roses1357

Blind buy fail. This did not smell like how I thought it would. Very strong and did not give me a clean vibe at all. This just didn’t work with my body chemistry I guess.

cumulnimbus

I really wanted to like this one so much... but no. It is so so clean and fresh that results too close to cleaning cosmetics and laundry liquid soaps for me. No prominent natural lilacs, no almond either. I wish I could get what others describe. To my nose, this is not flowery or a comforting fresh, it is just not a perfume but a synthetic cold laundry detergent.

katerobin

Ever since Yves Rocher discontinued their lilac soliflore scents I've been looking for a replacement and I am absolutely delighted to have discovered this! In fact, this fragrance is even better than the old YR offerings because it has complexity, with those beautiful almond and milky notes complementing the stunning, photorealistic lilac. It's not a loud, outspoken scent, but that's exactly how I like it - soft, elegant, understated. 10/10, my signature scent, I hope it never gets discontinued.

Eveningrose

Ok this scent is BEAUTIFUL! 🌸 It smells like spring and everything beautiful. It is a creamy lilac clean scent that lasts ! On cloths I can smell this all day! On skin, it lasts so well too! I will definitely keep it! I love floral and clean fragrances so this is perfect for me . The bottle reminds me a breast implant and I hate it lol I wish it was in a more elegant bottle that matched the scent! But other than that , it’s perfect!

NVK

Smells really fresh, clean and feminine. I do agree with other reviews. There is
nothing special on this fragrance however, this is Inoffensive and suitable for those who
dislike heavy smelling fragrances.
My rating: 6/10

missmaddiemac

I agree 1000% with the reviewer who likened this to upscale laundry softener… that is EXACTLY what this smells like. I don’t find it bad or unpleasant but I wouldn’t really go out of my way to wear it. I do think it would be heavenly to spritz this on warm towels fresh out of the dryer and just breathe it in. Do you know what I mean?

I usually find almond milk notes to be weird/off-putting or too powdery but it works well here

desturner866

Creamy lilac. Pretty.

vanillababy111

A very clean, beautiful fragrance. The only issue is that it has zero projection on me. I'm also not getting any other notes except from Lilac. Maybe it will perform better in higher temperatures

Bleuetsauvage

joyceyanchan

The following is the introduction of the fragrance:

For "A Drop D'issey", perfumer Aane Ayo imagined an intense fragrance of modern lilac, a perfect marriage between nature and technology. The top note is a delicate floral fragrance, revealing a pure and transparent Damascus rose. The middle notes of the fragrance amplify the floral notes, bringing out the notes of solar lilac, concealed by almond milk and ethically picked orange blossom. The base of the fragrance is musk with sublimated Atlantic cedar and vanillin.
Transparency takes you to experience the optical magnification and distortion effects of a magnifying glass. The bottle body combines the simplicity of a perfect circle with the transparency of glass. By looking at the bottle, experience the magnifying glass effect, distorting your vision into an optical illusion. The drop bottle is designed to lay flat. The "drop in drop" on the back makes it easy to hold.

I'm not talented, I don't have the rich experience above. What I experienced was the scent of drugstore brand product of body cream like Nivea or Johnson & Johnson. The texture is lthick and smooth like blue Nivea cream. By adding almond and flower notes, the scent has little twist. Overall the color tune of this fragrance is white, nor crystal clear transparent or dewy as the packaging shows.

By wearing this perfume, you will feel iclean and smooth like you just applied body cream after bath. The effect is like wearing nude makeup, you are nude perfume.

Bleuetsauvage

C'est le plus beau parfums de lilas que jai jamais senti .. c'est bluffant
on se croirait le nez en plein dans le bouquet de lilas vert tendre ensuite le lilas fait place aux roses, les amandes lactés, il est unique il est

Bedtimestory

Upscale laundry softener

victoria.mei1992

Good longevity and projection. But it smells like washed clothes with some synthetic washing soap. Nothing original, reminds me of ck obssesion and ck 1994. That type of vibe.

latafan

I only recently purchased it, but I already like it quite a bit!

The all-over vibe especially on first spray goes a lot into the direction of Dove or Nivea bodymilk, more Dove than Nivea I'd say. On top of that is added a very pleasant gentle sweetness. Very ethereal, very feminine. The more it dries down on me the more i can catch equally soft and gentle lilac notes on a light milky base.

This fragrance is just really nice and clean, softly feminine, comforting, intimate and beautifully dreamy.

Great for everyday wear and any situation where it would be inappropriate to fill your room with your olfactory presence. Due to its gentle character, my guess is that it will perform best in moderate European climate (spring or not too hot summer days), but I'm yet to really test that out. So far I've only worn it in an AC environment.

My only (small) gripe is with the bottle. The white section with the sprayer is a rubbery material that is bound to get grimy and discolored over time. I hate when brands use that material. It gives me flashbacks to my ancient FCUK Her sprayer, that with time looked like a piece of semi-hardened pig's skin. I wish they had gone with a hard-plastic option instead. Bit of a shame for people who like to collect bottles.

But that's just my own little pet-peeve. As for the fragrance itself, so far I'm very happy!

raiza1990

This is nice. Soapy, but creamy and a bit sweet. A fresh and relaxing fragrance for summer days. Feminine and inoffensive. It smells innocent and joyful. Sensual in a clean way. It’s a simple scent but well done. Something to wear with a hat and a white dress. Thumbs up!

DieT CroaK

I was hesitant to try this fragrance because I had tried L'eau d'Issey. Everyone raved about how it was so fresh and aquatic. I hated it. I think it was the calone and melon in it that didn’t resonate well with me but it was just very sharp and shrill. I smelled it on a woman at work and it smelled really good on her but the interaction was reduced to downright nasty with my skin chemistry. A Drop thankfully shares nothing in common to L’eau. L’eau on me begins as an arctic, aquatic lighter fluid scent that gradually merges to a harsh watery floral. Conversely, A Drop begins floral and rejuvenating. As the bottle suggests, it does go a little aquatic in the dry down but in a very subdued, refined way. I know it may sound bizarre but there’s something in A Drop that smells like the air of an amusement park. You know the smell of the misters or the condensation that lingers from a water ride? That smell. A little unorthodox perhaps but it gives it something of a unique flair from other aquatics I have tried.

I bought a lot of samples from eBay at first for two reasons. 1. I had to test before buying because I didn’t want to get burned again and 2. I wasn’t sure about that awkward water drop bottle. The lilac here is the best representation I have smelled thus far on my fragrance journey. It’s a delicate interpretation but not shrinking. People have noted that it smells like a face/cold cream or some kind of lotion and yes, I can see that! It does smell a little bit like a dryer sheet to me but not with the usual connotation that is typically associated on this site. Let me attempt to describe what I mean. You grab a clean, fluffy towel to dry down from the humid shower you’ve just had. It smells inexplicably like it came right out of the dryer even though you washed it two days earlier. You smell the detergent and fabric softener/dryer lingering demurely off of the fabric. This smell mixes with the steamy scent of Dove soap, shampoo and conditioner wafting through the air. You get a whiff of some iris/lavender/violet perfume sprayed last week permeating from the hamper nearby. With your body being totally dry, you slip into your favorite washed camisole and undies that also smell so much like your detergent and towel. You then begin lather your moisturizer and a slightly powdery baby oil body lotion onto your skin. It would be the ideal concoction of all these scents together. Perfectly clean and effortlessly fresh. I hope I did it justice because this was one of the better surprises I have had in a while. I had to have a full bottle. In person, it’s not as clunky or slippery as I imagined it would be from the pictures. I am a grade A klutz so I will be keeping it in its box for that specific purpose. The longevity is very good! I can smell this all day. It speaks confidently but never whispers into oblivion. Sillage is the perfect amount that I prefer. Not a powerhouse, not a room filler, nor headache inducing. Just enough that you know it’s there. Perfect! It’s performing really well in the summer heat also.

I blind bought this because lilac is my favourite floral note and I've been enjoying powdery musk notes lately. The alcohol punches you first but dissipates very soon to a creamy lilac note. I love the opening (after the hit of alcohol), but I'm not very keen on how it develops on my skin. The lilac note has a rather green undertone, and coupled with some of the dirty notes in Jasmine, it almost smells like bo. The lilac is definitely there, and it's very realistic, but this indescribably unpleasant undertone really throws me off. The musk is a soft, white powdery one, which is what I wanted in this fragrance. I don't get this green/dirty undertone from my clothes, so it must be how my skin reacts with the scent. On my clothes, it dries down to a clean powdery lilac scent. The projection/longevity are ok, about average. And the packaging - I'm not a fan of this flat circular water drop-inspired design. The atomiser is covered with a white silicone-like material, which I can see getting dirty quickly. The spray on the atomiser is really poor as well. I'm not sure how I feel about this fragrance. I really wanted to like it, but I don't (at least not yet).

Gobwah

Smells exactly like Johnsons Baby Oil or maybe baby cologne. Innocent and clean scent, I like it but I would want more than that for a perfume. Still, easy to wear and cute perfume.

Kotikina

The opening appears loud and sharp, but then it becomes a surprisingly realistic lilac, which is a very familiar scent for me, because they were growing right next to my window when I was a child. The scent is beautiful, clean and nostalgic.

likesleet

a more unique and dynamic alternative to popular skin/clean scents. it's like a slightly elevated lotion. not for me, but definitely for one of y'all clean girlies!

i first smell almond milk, then soft powder and fresh running water. i briefly got sweat but luckily, that went away. drydown smells like laundry/laundry detergent. i never got the vanilla or spices, and the white florals took more of a backseat to the laundry scent.

Sweetfemme

This is beautiful. I blind bought it and it’s love at first sniff.
This is a delicate, soft, feminine, clean, type of scent. It would fit the “clean girl aesthetic” that’s popular right now.
This is appropriate for spring and summer for sure.

When I take walks in the spring when lilacs are in bloom this is what the air smells like when the wind blows(since every other house has them in their backyard which is great for my senses when I’m clearing my head).

This lilac is very very realistic!
10/10
I agree that it does smell like a luxurious lotion but better!

ingeneuxo

-A Drop d'issey takes the cake as the ultimate not-a-perfume perfume.
-Opens as a clean, nivea lotion scent that is pleasant and stays close to the skin.
-Dries down to this amazing heliotrope/almond-forward scent that's almost magical.
-Think: Sanitized hands. Clean hair. Freshly-laundered sheets still warm from the dryer. Features on a pretty face; arranged in a neutral expression.
-Overall: A Drop d'Issey truly represents the Switzerland of perfumery- impressive feat in a landscape where different opinions prevail amongst an endless list of polarising perfume notes.
-This scent is unlikely to offend even the most sensitive of noses, making it suitable to be worn even in strict no-perfume environments (or enclosed spaces such as airplanes). (+)

I can’t believe I finally found the lilac perfume of my fkn dreamssssss. I don’t get much of any notes BUT lilac on my skin so far (4 hours in) so I’m extremely pleased. It smells like a dew-soaked lilac bush on a cool summer morning, I’m obsessed and I don’t think I want to smell like anything else ever.

auroramaria

I tried this scent at a Sephora store here in Italy and loved it on the spot. Beautiful lilacs and that luxurious body cream vibe. So I ordered my bottle immediately but after a few wears I must say I'm a little underwhelmed. It is still pretty and calm but nothing really special about it. Sillage and longevity are very moderate on me I dig the idea behind the scent yet it does not wow me like that time I first tried it. Would love to try the fraiche version soon though

asjkfbs653

A very green and natural lilac. I cannot seem to pick up any almond milk, it’s very luminous maybe from the “solar notes” and dries down to a soft musky lilac. It’s quite linear but if you’re going for a strong, natural lilac that can envelop you in spring joy for more than 5h, go for it. It’s beautiful.

clairesque

Not quite what I expected. This is a mild soapy scent, very reminiscent of a bar of Dove soap. I don't pick up on any almond, vanilla, or anise. Plain and linear, but pleasant and inoffensive. Good option for someone who wants to smell clean but not "perfume-y".

Marie76

It would be perfect except the solar notes it has , or the ambrox, or something, dries down into that fresh nappy /diappers scent that nauseates me, so I can't wear it...it's really annoying, all the other notes are fine, and the scent is lovely and quite unusual... but nope, not working for me.

Kittykatkin

Oh my goodness, what a surprise this was. I usually avoid lilac fragrances as they go one of two ways for me - sickeningly sweet or musty/old fashioned. This however, is the closest I have ever come to a true lilac flower scent. Sweet and slightly honeyed (this layers well with Garnier Honey Treasures body lotion which I also love) and very fresh. I adore it. The jasmine is very noticeable for me also so I'm happy about that, as is the vanilla in the drydown and wow, the drydown is unexpected - so warm and dare I say it, sexy? Yes, this has a 'lotiony' vibe about it, but to be honest there has been many a lotion I wished came in a perfume! It last for ages (I can smell it in bed and the next day in the shower), though it doesn't project too strongly which is perfect for me. I purchased a great value set with two hand creams and they are lovely also. The bottle is so cute! It's just so easy to wear and so very yummy!

Stoicchild

An inoffensive everyday scent. I'm not an Issey Miyake fan but this is nice. It's very gentle. I think this is the best Lilac perfume I've ever smelled. Smells like a day dream (=

mrshnchnkm

Initially, it is candied lilac flowers on a dessert, very soft, sweet, delicate and creamy scent. But after a few hours I have the feeling that I am standing in the woods, where I am surrounded by hundreds of lilac trees and all the air is permeated with their smell. Dry down is very heavy and musky for me, so it's not a safe blind buy.

Boldtalk

This a hidden jewel. Don’t be fooled by the slightly pungent and noisy open (that I happen to like after a couple of days) it dries down in very beautiful and subtle way and a do feel it stays with me for a pretty solid 7 - 8 hours.
I wear it for the fall transition, so I haven’t exposed it yet to extreme cold or heat and for me it’s quite suitable for “zen” activities … reading, meditating, a walk, putting a puzzle together … it feels like a cozy blanquet and even though its not listed in the notes above the blend reminds me of my grandma, we use to take walks to the park during the mimosa blooming season and this scent just reminds me of that warm and subtle silky fragrance floating in the air.

mychinarose

A milky purple floral scent, slightly spicy from the star anise. I’m not usually a floral perfume person, nor purple flowers, but this one is growing on me. I prefer to wear the lotion from my gift set as it much softer than the actual juice. This could be too much on my nose very easily, so I’m treading carefully. I hope to wear this a lot for Spring.

violetstorm

i got this today & OMG this is HEAVEN !!! i havent been wowed in a long time & this perfume wowed me........totally worth the higher price tag

its very feminine.........soft but not weak.........great lasting power.........and somehow they bottled heaven lol
its like they took little fluffy pink & purple dream clouds dusted with soft scented powder - sprinkled with lilacs & roses & drizzled it with a touch of vanilla , musk & almond milk................luscious.........delicious.........amazing !!!!

its also has a clean airy vibe to it too but then again that is an issey miyake trademark or at least i think so :)

this was a def instant love & super impressed.................and the bottle is super cute & modern :)

finally a perfume that earns the title of being called a perfume !!! if u love lilacs get this - if u love issey miyake get this - if u love clean feminine dreamy scents get this........its a winner :)

pushya_moon

Extremely seductive in a very contemporary way. I imagine this on the IG girls who go to exotic arquitectural buildings in the south of France or Spain, and post nice pictures of their designer vases in 60's terracotta hotels and dress in Paloma Wool knit sets that are close to the skin to show a waifish figure.
In the beggining smells a little like trementine and goes down to a milky almond white floral in a matter of seconds.
An extremely tender fragance. Could be popular with the Dyson air multiplier girls.

dyrdkk

A powdery clean fragrance, not as soft as I expected though. I get complements, and it performs quite well. I even wore it in winter and lasted all day. So I'm happy to have it.

ParisLoveXo

I can see where people say it smells like sour milk in the beginning I think it’s the almond milk note but then it goes into lilac I never knew what Lilac smelled like so I guess this is it it’s a pretty feminine smooth powdery scent so if you know what lilac smells like then this is it

heatshimmr

Smells like an air freshener lol

NoorbBelgium

I have an obsession with musk, especially in this one- it makes me feel so clean when wearing it.

AriaLennon

Musky, clean, milky, lilac and powdery fragrance. There is nostalgia as well as modernity in this fragrance at the same time. I love this one too much. There is uniqueness in this beautiful and long-lasting fragrance. It simply smells like milk, creamy, lilac and gives warm vibes.

Aromantra

Sadly, this was a disappointing fragrance for me. Not the cozy, fuzzy "soft hug" I was expecting based on reviews... Instead this is a rather harsh floral and gives me air freshener/bathroom spray vibes :(

ScentLoverJen

This fragrance is NOT a safe blind buy which I learned the hard way. I really thought with all of the positive reviews and because I love all of the notes listed it would be a no-brainer, easy reach type of scent for me, but it is absolutely nauseating on me. I don't get the creamy or powdery lilac, but a super sweet and almost spoiled smell. I'm sure it all has to do with skin chemistry and that it's lovely on some people, but blind-buyers beware.

pulcinella

I got a sample vial of this and made the severe mistake of trying it by spraying it on one of my pillows, beside my wrist. I don’t know if it was the almond or the solar notes, but this smelled like spoiled milk in both my skin and fabric. My sister tried a sniff from the vial and gagged. Not a fan.

newgodz_

the most realistic lilac scent ever, the delicate touch of almond milk really gives it the feeling of sitting under the sun in a giant garden with almond trees and lilac. it is also a perfume that lasts well and becomes more cozy as time goes by, i'd even say it smells cute in a clean and put together way.

FrkFors

Bar soap, body lotion AND fragrance in one! Feels fresh and elegant.
Suitable for ladies 30+, in my opinion. Clean, subtle, pure, smooth, comfortable and cozy. I really enjoy it.

washudtoj

Imagine a pretty (but psychopathic) lady screaming 'LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL I AM!' constantly into your ear.

That is my impression of A Drop d'Issey.

At first I thought of it as beautiful, but when I'm really stuck with it for hours and hours, it becomes nauseating and bothersome.

I don't get this impression often in fragrances, but somehow this one is different. It's a beautiful scent that I don't like to smell *for hours*. To top that off, it lasts forever on me, quadrupling the nauseating effect caused by the ambroxan. It is pretty strong on me, but not in the 'strong perfume, high-projecting' kind of way. Rather, it keeps forming a scent cloud around me that I alone can suffocate.

When it's first applied, it is pleasant, and I am sure it smells good on others should I happen to walk past someone wearing it. But to smell this for hours and hours is, to put it mildly, tormenting and sinus-triggering.

To circulate back to what I said at the beginning, this reminds me of a pretty lady who keeps yelling at me to get my attention all the time. I have a 90ml bottle and am going to give this as gift since I really cannot stand it.

MixedTastes

Oh dear. This sounded lovely, but I found it absolutely sickening. The scent of old water in a vase of lilacs that are wilting and the stems rotting.

I also think I’m done with ‘solar notes’. They seem to add a sickly, sour milk tinge to fragrances on my skin.

poodle77

I ordered a bottle of A Drop D'Issey online today having tested it last year at a major department store. Gorgeous true to life lilac that took me straight back to my mother's cool climate 100+ yo garden resplendent with numerous varieties and colours of lilac (later eaten by a pet sheep), dogwoods, cedars, rhododendrons etc. Fragrances are such a trigger for memories both bitter and sweet, no doubt this one will be so for many who love this "wet garden after rain" scent. A Drop has great sillage and projection, and a coldness that gives her an aloof, otherworldly "elemental" presence. She is elegant but not dated, the almond and star anise adding a unique quality missing among other lilac heavy scents. Suitable for night and day, casual or formal, I don't feel that A Drop is destined to become hugely popular but that may be the secret to her charm as a fragrance suited to a 30+ woman who is self possessed, calm and confident enough to choose a beyond mainstream scent simply because it makes her happy or suits her mood. A Drop will stand out as one of the few Lilac scents not damped down by a plethora of ubiquitous white flower notes. She's not a soliflore but her lilac takes the starring role perfectly supported by a "cast" of quirky but complimentary supporting players. A Drop marks a game changer among IM fragrances that have IMHO previously lacked any truly unique offerings. Lilac lovers rejoice!!!

Osmanthus Seeds

Well… I received a tester for this one and wasn’t really impressed.

To me it smells like soap—a good soap, I’ll admit that. If you like that quality, then you’ll probably like the perfume, but it’s just not my thing. Just too sterile.

melusina1982

Lotiony lilac and almond. I can feel there is something weird in the drydown on my skin, some sharpness probably caused by the ambroxan.
All in all, it is a very nice perfume. It smells effortless, like a breath of fresh air.
The more I use my sample the more I like it. Possible purchase in the future.

A Drop d'Issey feels like Hunter Schafer as a perfume: pale, tall, slender, otherworldly.

It's an unrelatable sort of beautiful, since not a lot of us can pull off forest elf vibes. There's a fresh, silken almond top note, a complex floral heart of lilac, with a distant hissy rasp of white florals, giving it a wistful, milky, almost animalic edge.

I think it's stunning and clever, taking what could have been a banal spring floral of almonds and lilacs and giving it a nostalgic, etherial air through fresh synthetics and a classical french touch, reminiscent of Ivoire and Songes.

Gorge but kind of intimidating x_x definitely a heartbreaker in the right hands

Nourhan

While Sniffing it from the bottle i was likee “ wooow I must try it” and then on my skin its a whole different story. It smelt like a cheap generic floral perfume. Very disappointed

ejtristan

The almond top note is absolutely sublime, but it instantly evaporates and all that's left is a trashy lilac. What a disappointment. This had so much promise.

cassisrose

Warm and comforting. A creamy, nutty floral. This would be a lovely scent for a baby lotion. It has the effect on me that lavender has on so many others - it makes me feel calm, comforted, at ease. I don't wear perfume to bed but if I did, this would be the perfect thing to wear or spray on a pillow. It feels like the scent of a baby fresh from a bath, all swaddled in warm blankets and sleeping peacefully.

Not something I see myself purchasing a full bottle of at this point, but if I had an unlimited perfume budget this might be something I'd buy just to spray on before bed each night.

Edit: Well darn it, I need to eat my words. I got sucked in. I finished up the sample, wearing it to bed in combination with L'occitane's almond body products when I wanted to feel extra relaxed and pampered, and fell in love HARD. I am now the proud owner of a full bottle, and have become a person who wears perfume to bed (sometimes). Never say never, folks!

cheleine

This is heaven to me. So comforting, airy, creamy and even silky. I can totally see why people think this smells like nivea products. The lactonic factor here is more like a lotion and nothing like the milk note in perfumes like This Is Her… This is classy and clean and sunny. I can see a young mother wearing this and hugging her little kids…Stunning, relaxing, so pure. I really like this. Also, great sillage and longevity. A big yes from me!
This is such an angelic scent.

Strap yourselves in folks, cos we're about to go on a wild ride
I've been interested in trying this ever since it launched here in the UK, on paper it has a clean but light nature which is my thing but I never actually bought a bottle, my lovely boyfriend gifted me a whopping 90ml pebble of this gloriously soapy water for Christmas and I've been wearing it non stop since then, but how it behaves on paper is definately different to how it behaves on my skin and I think I prefer it more on my skin than on paper test strips!

The opening is light and airy in true Issey Miyake style, but after 5 minutes there is a distinct creaminess that starts to rise to the surface, not creamy as in lactonic but creamy like a body lotion, facial moisturiser or a creamy soap lather, I can detect some lilac in the background which gives a slightly purple hue; the lilac in this smells almost photorealistic, it has a real pollen-y quality to it but thanks to the almond milk accord and the solar and woodsy notes, it does not screech at the top of its lungs. Throughout wear, A Drop D'issey smells the same on me from start to finish, and whilst I don't usually like very linear scents, this one never feels boring, I actually struggled to pin down exactly what the scent reminds me of until it hit me; Avene Clenance Cleanser and Avene Hydrance Aqua-Gel moisturiser, they both have this exact soapy, almost sterile quality to them, and I absolutely LOVE IT!

I can see this being really polarising to people, despite what some say about A Drop being light and a skin scent, on me its a room rocker and I love that about it, sometimes I do like a room filler such as Chanel Coco EdP, La Vie Est Belle, etc but sometimes I want to just smell clean and freshly showered, but a lot of my shower fresh/laundry scents do sit close to the skin, sometimes I want to smell clean but want a huge projection and I get that from A Drop, its a perfect all seasons scent for me and I honestly can't see it not working for many occasions, although, if I'm in a small confined space I would either go easy on the trigger or wear something else, just to make sure I don't tread on anyone elses toes.

The Silage is HUGE!! its very strong and lingers quite nicely from 3 spritzes, it leaves a trail behind me and the longevity is knockout, I can still smell it on me after showering. This is one of my white shirt and jeans scents for sure and I can't wait to try it in the warmer months as well, I would purchase this for myself once my 90ml runs out for sure.
Also the bottle! it feels so nice to hold and when its laying down it reminds me of a piece of sea glass, BIG love!

Kuty22

I'm testing a sample - first impression - Love it.
It couldn't be a signature scent for me, but then again none can.
It reminds me of Ginza by Shiseido (I don't know why)
My hormones combo tend to transform everything into a sweet, fruity scent which I adore.

beryandelight

The lilac is prominent and creamy making it smell like Nivea body lotion (yeah that blue bottle). It settles powdery with amazing longevity. It is not my kind of floral but if you like a soft floral fragrance, this might be it for you. The silage performs well too. I got it in fall, I will wait to try it again in spring.

AlaskanAngel

Very sweet almond cherry blossom powder with jasmine. Soft, clean, sweet floral. Not my style but would enjoy smelling on others. Work safe, not screechy, perfectly unisex.

Review of official carded sample, free with purchase.

I'm a little taken aback at how polarised the reviews of this perfume are. Another instance of how different everyone's fragrance journey can be, I suppose. I've personally never smelled lilacs before nor do I have the imprint of dusty old grandmas and dated times to skew my impression of A Drop.

To me, it works well in an office setting since it doesn't demand attention, instead existing like a little powdery and slightly sweet floral secret for oneself. I can't really smell it after some time though I do get whiffs of it sometimes as I go about my day. In an environment surrounded by loud and often strange smells, this was a welcomed refuge.

Note: I can see how the bottle will trigger many people. Personally, if I do end up adding a full sized bottle to my growing collection, I'll buy one of those acrylic display stands for crystals and call it a day.

Soozatska

Oh, lilac. Such a tricky flower! In person, it is so wonderfully delicate. In frags like this, it is often teetering on the tightrope between pretty and screechy, soapy, or sneezy. I think this, like so many others, depends on the nose that is sniffing it! A Drop d'Issey is definitely powdery at the opening for me, then it blooms and becomes a bit more fresh. After reading reviews, though, I can definitely see how this would prickle rather than tickle many customers. Lilac also ranges into dusty territory sometimes, too, and no one wants to smell like Grandma's attic. In short, you must be a serious lilac lover to enjoy this!

Project Nostalgia

Not a fan of this one. It's a little forgettable and skanky smelling to me.
I really pick up on the lilac, solar notes and musk though. So it definitely smells as you would expect.

Neckromancer

Yes, this smells creamy and fresh like lotion with cherries and almonds. It's a little soapy too. Safe work scent.

aspirina

Nivea cream with strong almond and lilac undertones. Excellent longevity and projection, 1-2 drops on my wrist stayed 12 hours! I think it is a bit intense...almost triggered me a headache...
I think is it a good scent for casual days, clean and comforting. It does reminds me a little bit of a sweet masculine scent, maybe fleur du male by JPG?

pac1990

Two words: Dove deodorant. This really is a mix between Nivea body cream and Dove soap. Floral, fresh, clean and powdery. On me, I never did smell the almonds (although it is creamy). The lilacs sort of smell like frangipani for a second.

mqkm

this is so lilac - sweet, floral, sunny, green, fresh even.. Omg I absolutely love it. Stunning!

Blackthorne

I was so excited by the phrases "solar lilac accord" and "almond milk facet" but sadly this is a hard no go for me. Agree whole heartedly about the top users claim of a "Nivea cream vibe." Initial blast was also very Johnson and Johnson baby wipe. After about 2 minutes I got a bit of almond milk but not enough to make this tolerable for myself. Reminded me of a perfume that was formulated to be very old fashioned and dare I say geriatric that was desperately infused with dashes of other things to make it feel more youthful at the end.
