L'Eau d'Issey Pure by Issey Miyake is a Floral Aquatic fragrance for women. L'Eau d'Issey Pure was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Dominique Ropion. Top note is Sea Notes; middle notes are Lily, Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Damask Rose; base notes are Ambergris and Cashmere Wood.

The popular 90s women's perfume L'Eau d'Issey from Issey Miyake, conceived as a fragrance as pure as spring water, unites the scents of waterfalls, flowers and spring forests. The original was launched in 1992 and it was followed by many editions over the years. In the spring 2016, the collection will be joined by a new variation, L'Eau d'Issey Pure. The new fragrance is announced as the second chapter in the history of L'Eau d'Issey.

L'Eau d'Issey Pure is of aquatic character, without citruses and with sensual and carnal undertones, evoking the scent of water on the skin of a woman. The composition begins with a marine accord. Orange blossom, Damask rose, jasmine and lily form the floral heart of the perfume. The base features sultry accords of gray amber and musky cashmere wood.

The simple design of the bottle recalls a drop of water and retains a certain resemblance to the original. The fragrance is available as a 50 and a 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

I ended up reaching for this quite a lot since I got it, and I like it a lot more than I did when I first purchased it (it was a blind buy). Very elegant, very clean floral with an oceanic vibe. Love the tinge of salt. It’s not sweet at all which I really appreciate, I’m so tired of oceanic/aquatic fresh fragrances getting violated by unwelcome sweet notes of sugar and vanilla or some kind of fruit syrup (eg. Aqua Di Gioia), for someone who lives in a very hot humid climate, it defeats the purpose and makes it sticky rather than refreshing. This one is beautiful and performance is great. There is something wistful and nostalgic about this aroma…I mentioned before that it reminds me of The Body Shop’s Oceanus, specifically the perfume oil, I wore it as a teen 20 years ago. They don’t smell alike, but they have a very similar vibe: wistful, peaceful, kind of ‘shower-gel’ like, but in the most luxurious way possible. I get compliments on this one, it stands out in a crowd of sweet mainstream scents, yet it doesn’t smell dated at all (unlike the original L’eau de Issey, which I do love, but smells like my aunt in the 90s and early 00s). I am contemplating repurchasing this once I run out, it’s a good one.

I bought this before a trip to Japan. I feel like it complimented the surroundings of Tokyo very well. The salty oceanic notes really felt in harmony with the surrounds of the concrete metropolis after the rain and sushi Bars. It's a clean, no frills kind of fragrance perfect for day wear when you want to feel fresh.

I blind bought this a year ago, and then blind bought it again, so apparently I liked the idea but it didn’t make much of an impression! My first adult perfume was Issey Miyake L’eau d’Issey, bought in duty free in 2000, just after I moved to the UK, and I have a bit of a soft spot for his fragrances for that. I think this is the safest scent in my collection so far, I like it for its bright, clean scent, it’s definitely a ‘day in the office’, and I’ve started carrying it in my work bag for when I need a spritz in the day. I will use it up for that, and then the other bottle, but wouldn’t buy it again. I like a stronger scent for me, and this is also a little more fem-leaning for my taste. But, overall, it’s harmonious and, clearly, a safe blind buy.

Amber Plokchouli

I bought this by mistake a few years ago, thinking I bought the OG. I’ve actually never worn this, as there’s a fairly sharp, salty note in the opening that annoyed me to the point I couldn’t get past it. For some reason I don’t mind it so much now. I believe the scent has sweetened over time and perhaps the salt note has lost some of it’s sharpness, but I quite enjoy it now.

The opening is still a bit sharp to my liking and the salt note in this still annoys me somewhat, but not to the point where I want to scrub it off and once the heart opens this fragrance is just gorgeous. The white flowers are a lot more intense than I thought and remembered, but the salt note keeps it fresh and zingy. It is fresh and sporty, yet very classy and pretty.
There’s something translucent and a bit dewy about this too, which makes it so lovely for spring and summer.

I do believe I like the OG better (although it’s been years since I last smelled it), but this one is a bit more sparkly I think. I wouldn’t recommend blind buying as the sharp saltiness is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you make out past the opening, this fragrance becomes quite addictive.

smccmurphy

Opening is soapy, then some mild, peppery florals come out to play followed by a mild aquatic scent. Smells a bit generic, like a papery magazine perfume sample. In small doses an inoffensive office scent.Reminds me a bit of Myth by Brooklyn Ellis, but with a more aquatic dry down. Silage is more of a skin scent. While I’m enjoying my sample, I’m not sure it’s noteworthy enough to warrant a full bottle personally.

d_silent_one

This smells high class. It is very very fresh, not sweet at all, and very strong. If I spray myself more than two times, it's overbearing and could make me nauseous (I don't know why aquatic perfumes have that effect on me). This bears a strong resemblance to A Drop D'Issey, although I like A Drop better than this one. It's more palatable.

Very good description by @Marialena888m below.

marialena888m

I don’t really get that much of a sea note (it’s present, but only barely). Is the overall scent reminiscent of the sea? Yes, but only modestly so. It’s definitely not a raw salty ocean fragrance in the vein of Womanity, so worry not. It is a modernized version of the original. The jasmine note is the most prominent to my nose, lily is a close second. It’s like if you 1) mixed the original L’eau de Issey with Alien, 2) remove the melon from the original and remove the indoles from Alien to make the composition smoother, 3) slightly dilute the resulting scent to make it more warm-weather friendly, 4) finally, add a pinch of salt for abit of maritime feel. Clean, fresh, classy and feminine. It’s a well-made, high-quality scent, and I like it. I imagine a demure, pretty suburban wife vacationing at a luxury beach resort with her husband and young kids, not in some exotic location, but in Santa Barbara or East Hampton. Her husband is also wearing an Issey pour homme summer flanker, and they are all just having a good, wholesome time. It smells of peace and contentment. I will use up my bottle but I probably will not repurchase, as much as I appreciate it, I feel like I may end up bored with this. I personally prefer my fresh fragrances to be citrusy and more invigorating, maybe with a touch of spice like pink pepper or cardamom, I like a little ‘pop’ and ‘sparkle’…this one gives me a more calm, clean and sophisticated feminine vibe, it’s quite smooth and velvety. The sillage and longevity are moderate, noticeable in a good way, can be used as an office scent, on a beach vacation, or as an elegant spring/summer go-to. If you are an Alien lover but wish there was a lighter, more watery and easy-to-wear version of it, this is the one. It is as much a flanker of L’eau de Issey as it is of Alien (could be a summer flanker of Alien). I used to wear Oceanus perfume oil by The Body Shop as a teen, and wearing this scent is like a distant reminder of that (they’re similar in mood…calm, clean, with an oceanic shower gel vibe).

nelladel

i tried it multiple times on skin and clothes, absolutely loved it and was very excited to buy it. totally preferred it over the original version because i don't like melon and cucumber notes. now i have it and... i kinda hate it? suddenly the lily and jasmine override and strangle all the fresh, watery, salty notes i loved so much initially. the bonus of longevity of the scent turned into a downside, it's very hard to get rid of. idk what happened, maybe covid did something to my nose, or the weather isn't right.

lanya

very glad i found this before the weather cools down. good everyday scent or would be great for the beach/vacation. smells like salty and sweet ocean water and roses

JennifeRx

L’Eau d’Issey and Alien had a salty and earthy lovechild. This fragrance is a masterpiece to my nose. I think anyone who likes both L’eau d’Issey and Alien would also enjoy this. The animatic dry down smells dirty/earthy and is perfection. This isn’t a sporty fragrance in my opinion. It’s an aquatic and earthy version of Alien. I adore this. Ropion is my favorite perfumer. You can tell this is his work. It has his stroke of genius written all over it.

alphairone

Saline soap lathered over lilies, briny orange blossom, cool rose accents, and a woody ambergris dry down is what summarizes this delightful Dominique Ropion creation.

It opens with this moisturizing Dove soap over an ocean breeze. I almost imagine in my head sandpipers and plovers scurrying over the shore, I feel the urge to collect sand dollars.

The jasmine levels slowly turn up in the mix through the heart and the heat, the marine elements subside in favor of the soapy and frothy. Then there is a point where it dries down to what my nose detects as a perfect replica of mock orange blossoms (see my post from this weekend of this flower).

Here we have the distilled genius of Ropion in an uncomplicated, fantastic fragrance.

KabukiSummer

Interesting...I would definitely wear it for a day sailing. It does remind me of a sunny day at the yacht club. (No millionaire here, I sail a Dinghie.) I would classify this a nice outdoor event perfume, it's sporty!
Also it reminded me of something else I have, 4711 Acqua Colonia Intense, Pure Breeze Of Himalaya by 4711. The difference here, the Marine sea notes are called Ozonic mountain air instead. The middle lilly/ citrus/ rose combination and the slight Cashmeran musky base are very similar to each other. So if you love one you would like the other, only 4711 is more affordable and lasts longer because it is an intense type of cologne. I would not wear them as an everyday perfume, but lovely for the correct occasion.

ParisLoveXo

Way too salty , and almost metallic smelling to my nose . Very harsh I can’t get past that part .

CalamityJai

Wow, the lily and orange blossom are strong in this one! It doesn’t get powder heavy, so it stays out of the grandma territory that so many white florals fall into. It remains “clean”, and makes me think of classy outdoor spring weddings

washudtoj

Despite the sea note listed, I thankfully don't find it strong.

It's somewhat similar to the original l'Eau d'Issey. If you have that one, you won't likely need this. This one may be just a tad bit more transparent, more marine, and not as sharp, but really, the difference is not that drastic.

Good longevity and sillage. I sprayed once on my left arm and I was able to catch whiffs of it for ten minutes through the two-layered mask. I have to say it's pretty good.

All in all, decent and feminine. I would not mind choosing either this one or the original over the other. The original is longer-lasting, but this one is more summery and not as screechy.

Edit: I prefer l'Eau d'Issey Pure EdT over either this one or the original. That EdT is fresher, more citrusy, and not as marine.

Snowflake8000

Don’t love this one. A bit too detergent-y for my taste.

piahellgren

Sour lily-of-the-valley and marine notes. Cannot wear it.

AllaboutRayRay

First sprtiz is all aquatic and so heady. It smells like the sea...salty. This reminds me of a past cologne. I don't remember if it was Aspen or Stetson, which I really disliked. I know, it is a weird remembrance, and I might be wrong. It just reminds me of an older cologne, which I really disliked, and now I conflicted because I really like this and really dislike it.

americanablonde

This scent is light, fresh, watery, and absolutely perfect for spring. I don’t pick up any spicy notes, like some reviewers have mentioned, nor do I think the scent is harsh. The sillage is pretty good for it being such a fresh perfume, and the longevity was fairly decent as well.

This fragrance is reminiscent of the fresh, watery perfumes that were popular in the 90’s, though it does turn a bit more floral once it dries down. Overall though, this is a pleasant, calming scent that I enjoy a lot.

perfumelovere

This is a sharp, spicy aquatic scent that is no longer on the market. I think his scents have a polarizing effect. My boyfriend at the time did not like it but others gave me compliments.

rihamania

very harsh and masculine

inspe13

It smells like spring. It smells like a bouquet of the first spring flowers with lily-of-the-valley being most prominent. The bouquet is green, fresh, full of water and fresh life.
It's a really beautiful composition. In the base it's more green and wet-woody, like some driftwood.
It's perfect for end of the winter/beginning of spring.

Puolanka

Accidentally bought the flanker instead of the original, and couldnt return. Liked the original, dont like this, as it smells cheap to me. The original smells pure and clean like barely-lilly-scented water, and this smells to me like moderately-lilly-scented-alcohol. That said, I ocassionally do wear it if I am really craving a lilly scent...mainly because I am too "frugal" to throw it out.

It is possible I wear this as frequently as I wear La Chasse Aux Papillons, which is similarly light white floral but with MUCH better quality. LCAP is in a bohemian bouquet...wheras this smells fairly soloflore...and because I prefer white flowers to be soloflore, I probably use this one more than I care to admit.

rocsta6

This perfume is very calming. Love love love the white florals and the scent lasts all day for me. I also own pure nectar which is a little more sharper and sweeter, i find the dry down abit metallic for the pure nectar and thats why i prefer l'eau d'issey pure over that one. ill probably always have a bottle with me for the rest of my life

mayakwele.1

I am so in love with this perfume. It smells like roses on a cool summer evening with a faint breeze and all is right in the world. All perfumes should smell like this .... lol

chrystelsinclair

So disappointing...

My husband wears L'eau bleue d'Issey during summer. I got this one for him because I fell in love with it and it suits him very well.

Some months ago I decided to try out one for myself. In the shop I went to, you aren't allowed to spray perfumes on you (yeah I know, idiots!) so I got a piece of paper with this L'eau d'Issey Pure. I thought nice, simple, fresh, summery... So I purchased a 30 ml.

First of all, the ratio bottle/package is insane. Such a tiny bottle in such a big box...anyway...

I spayed my wrists and this awful, generic, toilet scent came out. Sorry but no. It smells of the chemicals you use to clean toilets such as Toilet Duck.

I thought I would give it some time and see if there is any difference. About six hours later it just stank of synthetic lily with alcohol. So disappointing even though the longevity is strong and the sillage rather moderate.

This perfume just doesn't work for me. I guess the marine part must have been made of toilet water but I sincerely don't understand why it's so bad on my skin when usually I never have any difficulties with perfumes.

But it might suit you! Up for a swap?

AlanneSedai

Got a sample of this one, my first D'issey I'm trying, so blank opinion.

It started really fresh aquatic, with definitely a sea / salty feel to it, but that lasted only a few minutes. Shortly after both Lily and Jasmine shone through loudly. It wasn't unpleasant per se, it just reminded me of every perfume ever in my childhood. Back then everything smelled the same to me of course, but just saying that this felt very generic.

A few hours later it did morph into something much softer, less harsh. Still very much white flower, with barely any aqua left, although the ambergris and cashmere is detectable, but it's more kind and gentle. I may use the sample again one day, but I will not be getting a full bottle. It's ok.

dina

First off, Pure has nothing to do with the original l'eau, so I really don't see why that name?

As for the perfume, I think it's a pleasant freshie with a deodorant quality, the aquatic notes are a bit harsh, though...

raiza1990

This is more pleasant than the edt. It still has that soapy powder, but it’s not as intensive as the edt. It’s overall a softer fragrance. The florals here are also better. Creamier. It’s not groundbreaking but it’s a nice fresh floral for summer. But i think it’s possible to find better and cheaper options in this genre.
Final note: 6/10

IM си е IM. Лек,свеж,акватичен.

MsLittlejohn

I bought this because I remembered IM having a very fresh, musky, spicy, rich smell when I was in high school. A male friend of mine used to wear IM. This was not even vaguely similar! Allll flowers! Hated it. I'm going to try and figure out the one that has the more spicy fresh notes.

Amanjo

Scent: this is a very floral, crisp, aquatic and fresh scent. Strong and powerful, but soft and clean at the same time. It's an updated, more minimalistic version of the classic, more floral, cleaner and more confident than the original. Perhaps a bit too strongly floral for me compared to the more rounded original and it lost some seductive qualities, still an excellent (and more up-to-date) scent. I've received a lot of compliments. 8/10.

Who/where/when: this fragrance is perfect for many occasions. It works particularly well in warmer weather, but is refreshing in winter too. It could easily be worn to office (although it's strong, so spray lightly), as it is clean and inoffensive. It's definitely unique, though, and people will recognize you by your perfume. The person who wears this is elegant and confident.

Longevity: very good.

Sillage: quite strong.

[Review of the EdP]

chimidoro

Writing of the EDP.

Agree that the bottle top is less fun without the dew drop/pearl design, thought to myself when testing: "Oh! The lid is broken!" until upon closer inspection realized it's actually intended to dip in that way. Hmmm!!

Instantaneous love for me. Was admiring the rose gold bottle for the Pure Nectar variant (the new design with the curved base for the "Pure" range is beautiful) but find the over-sweetened woody rose dominance of that a little too much and, character wise, it seems too large a leap from the fresh aquatic style of original L'eau d'Issey EDT.
I find "Pure" so natural, so humid, greenhouse, vegetation.

This simple "Pure" version, on the other hand, is a dream.
A lily focused powdery aquatic on a smooth woody base - as opposed to the lotus and rose tart focus boasted by the original. This is muskier, more powdery, smoother, softer. Stays on par with the original with the classic bright, crisp, clean aquatic notes but without that harsh, biting calone/melon combo. Does however manage to retain the earthy freshness of the original, which is wonderful.

A perfect counterpart to the original EDT (or my other favorite, "Noir Absolu"). I'm inclined to describe this as a modernised take on the original because for me it takes the place of the original in my collection as my preferred choice. It doesn't have the over-sweet woody notes I'm not keen on in many of the Issey flankers. I also prefer this to the EDP version of the original, which I was quite disappointed by.

Really beautiful. I love it. Bought a 90ml right away.

After wearing day in, day out, for a good few days:
Longevity is good on me. Lasts all day though is soft past the first hour or so and I find myself reapplying once or twice in the afternoon/evening.
Opening very reminiscent of original then scent morphs beautifully through to lily stage (best friend smells lemon here), then soft smooth creamy woody base. Holds on to the fresh water element throughout.

The more accustomed I've become to this scent, the more adoration I have for it. The gentle jasmin here is so natural and fresh, I'm amazed it actually went unnoticed by me at first sniff.

Niggle is that I wish it projected more, for longer.

Love this glorious scent - so much so that it's become my summertime signature!

savvyminx

Very aquatic floral on my skin. The lily note is strong and powdery, and the salty ambergris is noticeable which helps the oceanic vibe. This one is a little simplistic, which can be good or bad depending on what you're in the mood for.

I like to have a lot of variety in my collection, and this is a straight-forward crowd pleaser. I have some challenging niche fragrances that I would worry might offend if I wore them in a closed space with strangers, but this feels like a safe choice.

lrnonken

nice, maybe a little green, good longevity, a bit off-putting green-ness in the opening, but calms down to be light and pleasant

evapap181977

interesting twist from the classic.the core remains pretty much the same.its like l eau dressed up for the night in an attemption to seduce.i think it does.try it even if l eau is not your cup of tea..edit.after using it for many ocassions days and nights during the summer i have to say tha its not at all like the classic l eau..i totally agree with the reviewer who said that has animalic tones .mostly it does.reasonably sexy/dirty scent .when it settles the animalic element fades and becomes skin scent, but its better than the most perfumes i ve smell lately.

limpidgrass

On a friend, this smelt great.... like a dried rose on a plant, and rain, earth, orange aromatic feel. But on me it smelt aquatic floral like the original L'eau D Issey. Nothing more nothing less. I was bored of the original just after few days of use, and with this one, I am not getting all the other notes listed, just getting the same original aquatic lotus and lily. Meh!

justfloral

Similar to original L'Eau D'issey but without incense note. Floral, aquatic and earthy.

It smells like mock orange bush after a solid rain (with soil splashed on leaves) + wet soil!!! (earthy scent of the air after rain) + crushed stems.

dglightblue

Issey you are the man.

Pure, edp, summer test, humid, gross, tow sprays to elbow.

Love issey, this one is a bit bitter sometimes, not always, strangely, ok fine.
Anyway I had this to hand and needed to give donna acqua by Valentino a boot up the bum. Anyway this made donna project better and eliminated the bitter.

I like this in its own anyway, but hey, I just felt like a change.

xx

Libragirl

I am obsessed with this fragrance and happy to say that it's my signature perfume. I get compliments every single time i wear this, without fail. So yes. it's juts so absolutely ethereally beautiful!!

LaurieVainilla

I'm more of a sweet scent person, but this is just so fresh and secretive that made me feel sophisticated through all day.

The only thing I don't like is that I could get used to the smell too fast... It may seem like it needs reapplication, but actually is still there.

CherryLand

This is not a lily but a bouquet of lilies of the valley in icy water.

bottlefairy

I am so taken aback by some of these reviews? Are we talking about the same scent??

For me it is an almost affronting animalic. I mean one spritz, go stand in the woods and all the deer will come to you. It smells like straight up animal musk. Not pleasing, and I get 0 fruity or floral. Aquatic?? I'm sorry but no way! The notes listed for this perfume speak more on what a perfume with this name "Pure" SHOULD smell like. However, ain't nothing pure about this. It's straight up dank.

As a fan of aquatic+airy scents, the name of this one really misled me.

This was in the back of my aunt's perfume table. I asked her why that bottle was always full/never used. She said she regretted the purchase as soon as she got home but that the store would not take it back. She keeps it to remind herself not to impulse buy perfumes anymore!

PricklyAndHot

Really white floral, but too watery(((

Rosemary14

I love this fragrance. It's got so many notes that I like and I get loads of complements when I wear it. It's clean yet has a personality other than just typical aquatic floral. The ambergis gives it that salty, sweet, ocean note. The beautiful floral lilly, jasmine, orange blossom, rose combination is divine combined with the musky cashmere, salty ambergis, and aquatic notes. The lilly and jasmine are the stand outs in the floral bouquet. I live at the beach and it’s perfect for this climate. Wherever people ask me what I'm wearing and I say, "It's called Pure." I get that it's a fitting name. It’s clean, fresh, salty, floral, and clean musk. Other people have described the mineral accords and that it’s addictive and I know exactly what they are referring to. (I love Tigerlillian’s review). I literally can’t stop using it. I’ve used this fragrance for years and it’s one of my absolute favorites. In fact it’s one of the fragrances that opened me up from very mild fragrances to full on perfume love. It opens on the skin so well over time. It’s got a very tranquil quality that I just keep going back to over and over. It truly has an almost magical, serene core that you find meditating on the beach especially during the dry down that last 6-8 hours after. It’s such a zen like essence that truly does capture the nature of the ocean that I’ll never tire of it and will lament the day that it’s no longer around. If you love the ocean it’s a must for your collection. Make no mistake though this fragrance IS animalic and salty (almost briny) just like the ocean, but it is also floral and beautiful. I have yet to find any fragrance that really gives me the ocean the way this fragrance does and I doubt I will ever see anything that emulates the feeling of the grand, vast, beautiful, calm, quiet ocean that this scent convey’s so perfectly in my lifetime. I have as much love for this fragrance as I do for a favorite movie or memory that brings me back to a beautiful time and place in my life. It’s a very under rated fragrance in my opinion.

ApathyAngel

I'm discovering that I really like aquatic fragrances. They're just so fresh and clean, cheerful and comforting.

This one is no different. I could just wrap myself in it. Beautiful.

G. Eriksen

I love it ❤️

This liquid I imagine to be the teardrops of tiger Iillies. Wonderfully tranquil and such an appropriate name.

dsmercoco

I usually don't gravitate to aquatic scents but I love TM Womanity so I thought I'd try this since I love L'Eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake for men on my hubbs.
I'm so pleasantly surprised! Its a very contemporary flirty fresh clean scent. Not too sweet, not over powering. To my nose it opens with salt, lily and jasmine. On the dry down the aforementioned are still present but I smell more musky cashmere. It's really gorgeous, bright and sunny. Great warm weather scent.
The hubbs says this is a keeper on me.

Issey pure edp

Second test.

First test I felt this went bitter slightly

Years later I’m fine with it.
It’s wet and rounded like the original, this is more creamy fresh, watery woody. There’s supporting florals I suspect but not obvious like the original/others.
Great longevity, sprayed around 1pm, it’s now 11pm

I think this is the same feel as how bvlgari uses woods -they have a clear sparkly ness not heavy and thick.

Try this before you buy :)

Scents are stories to me.

This one is my visit to an expensive hotel on the beach in Monterrey. It opens with my talking s walk to the ocean, gravel crunching under my feet, sea flowers blooming, the sun shining yet as always, the Northern California mist hovers over the ocean blowing salt air in. I walk back to the hotel, open the sliding glass door to the room, where a bouquet of flowers is sitting. I close the door and lilys and white flowers saturate the air. I sometimes open the screen to let in some fresh air, and smell the pine and salt air mixing with flowers, ocean breeze and mist droplets blowing in.

Reading reviews, it seems that those who liked the original don’t care for this one-but ithis version is the only one I’ve smelled. It is like a poem: aquatic, flowers and woods. Not so blended until dry down when it all makes sense. Each phase quite lovely as is the ending.

I have always loved a strong floral and the lily is very prominent, possibly because I was not shy with putting it on. I don’t realky smell rose, although the reason I bought the sample was because of the rose. It has quite a throw, although I’ve only had it on an hour. But it seems like it will last on my skin and not fade quickly.

This may go at the top of my “want” list. Aquatics have never been my thing but this is quite beautiful, feminine, and interesting. I bought a 1 ml sample so I’ll wear it for a few days and see how it does. So far, I find it beautiful. I believe I have more Miyake samples and now I’m intrigued.

I am surprised about how much I like this perfume. It smells clean, fresh, floral, peaceful and zen-like. This is very different from the perfumes I normally gravitate towards, but I can't stop thinking about it since I tested it a couple of weeks ago. I find myself craving a scent like this to get a break from my sweeter, heavier perfumes. I think I'll have to get this for spring/summer 2018. Or even before that to wear to the office.

Nikkafragrance

Lovely, safe, but at the same time linear and it really smells like fresh laundry. I like the white flowers and sea water combo though.

Pamilo

Exquisite lilly and jasmine that delivers a sombre ambiance. The whole construct is excellence itself. Linear. Lasts a long time on me in all temperatures. Brings to mind the ice-coolness of Purdey (as played by the equally poised Joanna Lumley).

Tigerlillian

L'Eau d'Issey Pure is quite a departure from the original calone-bomb 90's perfume.

This era in perfumery had brought Issey's iconic fume into the age of animalics balanced with botanic naturals (or simulated notes) and avant garde industrial minimalism.

Here, I smell sand, lots of hot mineral accords, parched wooden docks imbued with oceanic salt, and tide-washed concrete piers. Hundreds of small briny seashells roll in with each wave and tickle my feet. Scrubby florals subtly float on the ozonic breeze while bare toes curl into the foaming wet beach. The flowers are lacings of mentholated lily of the valley, jasmine and anisic sea grass -- salty, a little grey, yet joyfully liberating. I can almost feel the salt crust on the hem of my breezy linen pants as the stinging beach air whips by.

L'Eau d'Issey Pure is calming solace at the water's edge on a foggy day. I find this clarifying in a joyfully subdued way.

Terraverde

I've noticed a change in L' Eau ' Issey. Has anyone else noticed? It's opening is entirely different, not in a good in a good way, dried own somewhat different. How sad!! I'm wondering when this happened so I can scope out older bottle perhaps on ebay...

BlueFan

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I have just been to the pharmacy after work, armed with my list of 'to test' from this website, and have come away with Pure on my left wrist. I'm about 30 minutes in and I LOVE IT. I hope I have found a new go to scent after loving Ralph Lauren Blue for so long. Fingers crossed. Searching for a new fragance is awesome. Every day I go to a different mall/pharmacy and have a squirt of just one, so as not to confuse my poor nose. I'm being very patient and methodical with my elimination technique which is most unlike me! I'll update when this has dried down a bit more.

Update:- Hmmm. Eventually I didn't love it enough to want to buy it. It did smell nice on the sleeve of my jersey when I took it off though, but I don't want my clothes to smell better than me! :D

One of my colleagues at work was wearing this perfume. All I could smell was this heavenly lily, drifting near her. I had to try this for myself; I sprayed a little on my skin and was very pleased with the sillage and longevity.

I am surprised by how much I love this perfume as it really isn't something I would "normally" wear.

It's been warm here today and this has been gently radiating from me for over six hours - remarkable in itself as I have skin which normally sucks up perfume ridiculously fast.

To me the strongest note is the most beautiful natural smelling lily (my favourite flower).

Highly recommended for warm days - it's refreshing and cool.

Dort0625

A new store opened in the city I live in so the hubby and I went to go check it out, it's a big box type pharmacy that I had never actually been in one any where before.....low and behold it has the most incredible cosmetics department with a kick ass fragrance section. L'eau D'issey original and summer versions are some of my favs, and the Lotus one is actually my all time fav scent!!! I saw this within the display of Issey Miyake and gave er a go! To me this smells like a slightly watered down version of the original, lotus and a smidge of the summer ones. It is very close to them all, I love it though. If you enjoy this brand and are running out then snag this gem

cookygirl

Longevity is excellent for this one.
I applied it in the morning before I left the house and now, 12 hours later, I can still smell it!
It's a strongish scent and it's difficult to control the amount dispensed at each spray, so I give a squirt and walk through the 'cloud'.
It has the same DNA as the original but I think it's less sweet and more minimalistic.

B!tchBrisket

I originally didn't like this as much when I got it but after a few tries I love it. It dries down fresh with a kick of floral on me. Not as aquatic as I was expecting but that's ok. More like fresh laundry but not overpowering at all

chezzig01

I tried the EDP .. at first it was yuk.. I couldn't put my finger on the weird smell.. fast-forward to the dry down and " Oh My Goodness" the dry down is to die for !!!!!! Love this .. a gorgeous, natural Jasmine to me, like its been raining and the sun has just come out to warm the Jasmine bush outside .. very Fresh and beautiful.
I bought the 100ml and the 30 ml for my purse for when it warms up .

stefafra

No no no!
It lost the magical "stroll in a wet forest after a storm" woody closing notes, to aquire a generic "toilet freshener" syntetic whiff.
Why? It smells all but "pure", but as a cheap copy.

Love this ! Compared to the classic this is a lot less carnal, less flowery and more watery as in fresh water ,moist, wet and ozonic.
It presents itself as clean ,fresh and musky, has less animalic notes as the classic but is definitely of the same DNA with a slight carnal undertone.
It's clean ,wet and fresh without any citrus and almost resembles fresh running water as well as the sea with a salty tinge. it's so unique as there aren't many perfumes that smell WET or MOIST.
The base ,or dry down is my favourite part ,it lasts forever and smells like fresh clean skin slightly salted and sexy . It's the ambergris and cashmere woods with a marine salty vibe ,it's quite genius.
I would like to know the nose behind this one.

The new EDT is excellent as well but with a completely different twist ! It is more musky ,drier and has a citrus orange note added as well as maybe some cedar. It's quite fantastic and I slightly favour it to the new EDT as it is more my style !? ,,,although I find the moistness and uniqueness and lasting power of the EDP more genius.

This is making me want the classic Edt !

genny17

Very nice muted white floral, with some musk in the heart too, I really like it, it has a slight sour/ metallic undertone, but overall it is lovely...I wasn't a fan of the original, Pure isnt the same, it doesn't have that green swampy vibe, it is more rounded...now, I didn't find it extraordinary, but I could easily wear it...it smells nice, fresh, and warm all at once..I agree it has a calm aura, makes me think of clear running water, although it isn't at all too aquatic..the grey amber keeps it from being overly floral, which I like...all in all, nice scent !!

dglightblue

Slightly bitter
Similar l'eau d'issey DNA, not exact, but this goes a bit bitter when I sniff up close. Must be chemistry in this blend

EmilyPrize

Upon initial application, I first get hit with what smells like putrid lily. However, that note disappears within a few minutes and that's when the magic happens. The ambergris in this reacts with my skin to transform the scent and make it absolutely addictive. This reminds me of Bond no. 9 Hamptons but smoother. It has that same bug spray quality to it but I actually like it because it adds something really unique and distinctive to the fragrance. To sum up the notes: ambergris, aquatic bug spray (in the best way possible), and subdued florals that almost smell like white grape juice. It smells classy, clean, and even a little unisex. Needless to say, I consider this worthy of a full bottle purchase.

ballerina77

clean. aquatic. and clean again. simple as that. for every day use, discrete and subtle.

meama

A well done aquatic Alien-Mugler, a fresh salty mineral jasmine.

PerfumeEmpress

Solar notes ... aquatic notes ... I'm waiting for lunar notes. Shouldn't be long now.

SoulScent

I liked, but wouldn't of worn the original as it has very strong associations with someone I used to know.

Pure however, I love!

Opening: Fresh aquatic
Middle: white flowers
Finish: Fresh aquatic, white flowers and a woody note.

So great for a hot, humid Australian climate but still enough depth for all occasions.

Dior Pure poison if you minus citrus and add some fresh aquatic notes.

Teresa1019

purely nice, in terms of the bottle design and the scent, what a great come back of a fantastic classic.

thanks Mary for swapping with me, i love it!

Napsu

This is mostly lily and jasmine on me. Very strong jasmine, and something animalic. Fresh and watery notes also present.
Overall very beautiful scent. Bottle is pretty also and I just wanted to love this...
Unfortunately jasmine is not my favourite note. But this is almost bearable and I have used this couple of times. It smells like someone else's perfume so I swapped it.

dorothea333

I really like it - and this surprises me a lot, as I don't like l'eau d'issey. But I got a sample together with an order of 3 minis, and so I gave it a shot :-)

I would have believed, that there was tuberose and probably also lily of the valley in this fragrance, but it is not in the given notes above. I totally get that someone compares it to Michael Kors, I just prefer this one.
It has really taken me by surprise. I get white flowers up to high heaven, but also a green note that officially is not there either :-) and a very nice sharpness.

The first half an hour is not to good though, I almost felt, I had dipped my wrist in some kind of dish washing soap, but then it settles and becomes really pleasant.

It didn't last to long the first time I applied the fragrance. But the next time I reapplied after about one and a half hour, and this has made it last for around 4 hours, and it is still there though fading.

EDIT 2.Nov 2016

After having had the pleasure of trying Elie Saab Le Parfum eau de toilettes, I must say, that they are quite a bit alike. Not twins maybe but close sisters. I'll have to stress that it is the edT of Le Parfum not the edP, because they are very different.

It was so nice to get pleasantly surprised by a perfume, I didn't really expect anything from

Arlene-Beatrix

Cool lily & jasmine & marine scent, quite sultry, similar to other L'Eau d'Issey. Not my cup of tea.

Ellisbijl

Yesterday I tried this on. When I woke up this morning I still smelled it on my wrist. The longevity of this scent is incredible. The name suits the scent, it smells so pure and white. Lovely

SueLidstone

Fresh, calming, beautiful and sophisticated, perfection in a bottle imo. I will be adding this beauty to my collection soon.

chloe83

After a long hunt for a fresh watery perfume I liked, I found this one and purchased it straight away. I tried the original Issey first and it was horrible so I am glad I tried the Pure version. I have been using it for a week now. It does not survive a full work day and needs topping up - on a very hot day it only last about an hour. I love the bottle shape however the bottle dispenses far too much perfume with each press - I have perfume running down my arms after a single press.

I have mixed feeling about this perfume. The first application is lovely - really refreshing and makes me think of holidays and the smell of wood land after the rain. The middle part I am really not a fan of. There is something sharp and chemically which really offends my nose and overrides the fresh watery smells (rather like the original Issey) unfortunately this stage last for a few hours on my skin. The end smell however is nice - very flowery and the watery smell has disappeared as well as the horrible chemical smell.

No one has commented about perfume so either it does not spread too far away or it just an inoffensive, unremarkable smell.

I am glad I only bought a small bottle as I don't think I will be re buying.

LadyVee

On my skin, this fragrance opens clean and crisp then quickly settles into the scent of jasmine on a warm summer day. The hint of rose is noticeable but intermittent and brief. The wood notes keep this scent warm and do a great job of keeping the florals uplifted. I like this fragrance. For me, it's a great choice for summer afternoon casual wear.

ScarlettX

I like all the scents from this line. This one's good, just like the original EDT. Fresh and aquatic scent, main notes seem to be white flowers, mostly jasmine and lily.
Very mild sweetness and pureness of the spring water. Not bitter or offensive in any way.
Very nice!

kl99

Smooth, calm, peaceful flowers, fresh lily, fresh jasmine. Very wearable. No unique.
Nice

‘Issey Miyake – l’ Eau D’ Issey Pure” – 29.06.2016

In my opinion, this is a very beautiful floral aquatic fragrance.

I read reviews and I sometimes feel that we do injustice to certain fragrances because we tend to review them on the basis of our preferences when it comes to the notes. For example, in my case, I tend to like fruity/floral fragrances with a hint of powder. Therefore, no matter how good an aquatic fragrance might be, it would never be to my liking because, aquatics in general, are not the fragrances that I gravitate towards.

However, for those who like aquatic, fresh scents, “Issey Miyake Pure” is an excellent choice that I highly recommend. My intention is to review this perfume not on the basis of what I like (obviously, it will never make a good powdery fruity/floral – because it isn’t one) but, on the basis of weather it is a good floral/aquatic or not.

This is a very good floral/aquatic, in my opinion.

It is light and airy, very inoffensive, subtle and discrete, beautifully balanced. It feels like you had a refreshing shower with a luxury soap and your skin is left with this clean scent of fresh, cool water and soap. I believe it is a wonderful choice for summer and/or for people living in warmer climates.

When I smell it with my eyes closed, I imagine soft, natural fabrics like linen, and the summer morning sea breeze on a Greek island. Very clean, very fresh, very cool and relaxed, uncomplicated, un-perplexed.

“Issey Miyake Pure” is absolutely wonderful for those who like this type of scents. I believe that it makes a beautiful gift as well and a risk-free blind purchase. I find it suitable, mostly, for day wear, for all ages (although the perfume does project a sophisticated vibe) and ideal for the office. I do believe that it will not disappoint.

Thank you so much for reading my review.
I wish you a very aromatic perfume quest!
Regards
Josephine.

Calm ,fresh ,soft .that's my impression from the fragrance :).
White flowers I don't know why but I can imagine lily of valley, crystal clear water and early morning.
It's great edition for my taste .

Absolument

Ok I took a shower and the drydown is still there, I find it delicious! Woody cashmeran and ambergris and still a little flower in the woods. A very nice take on the classic Eau d'Issey

Absolument

I am not a fan of L'eau d'Issey to begin with...But here is my 2cents from testing the scent today from my friend.
It has the same DNA as the original: very fresh and aquatic sea-water feeling...Only the Lily is very prominent, and the woods stay nicely in the background... The lily is fresh and natural like in my Passage d'Enfer but in l'eau Pure it takes the center stages while the woods and water dance in the background. It radiates quite well, and dries down to a woody scent.
The bottle is quite heavy, and sleek.

Calvini

I never liked the original bottle that much (especially the little ball at the top); this looks so cool!

graanka

@lulu169 I'm not a fan of the new bottle at all :( Hopefully, the scent will make up for it...

lulu169

Is it just me or is the design of the new bottle a step back??
