In Black by Jesus Del Pozo is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. In Black was launched in 2006. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel. Top notes are Sour Cherry, Rose and Pink Grapefruit; middle notes are Violet, Peach, Egyptian Jasmine, Lilac and Lily; base notes are Licorice, Madagascar Vanilla, Patchouli, Musk and Moroccan Cedar.

This mysterious, sensual and dark fragrance was launched by Spanish fashion designer Jesus Del Pozo. The muse of this luxurious perfume is black colour, which is dominant in his collections. It is hard to describe this fragrance. You could expect it to be heavy and bitter, but, in fact, it is light and sweet, just like warm summer night. The composition is unusual. It starts with black cherry, grapefruit and delicate rose accord. The heart is made of black iris, peach wine, jasmine and violet. The base is oriental: licorice, musk, vanilla, patchouli and cedar. The perfume was created by Christine Nagel in 2006.

As an avid Enjoyer of JDP in white, ive always wanted to try this. I had been waiting for a low priced JDP in black to pop up for sale and finally git my hands on a well preserved near full 3.4 oz example for $20.

Good lord was this incredibly disappointing. The review below encapsulates alot of whats wrong with this perfume. All I get is this syrupy pissy lipstick scent; like the inside of a dirty old purse you found on the train tracks. Theres some bitter note that makes this just so unwearable and straight up gross. I could never in my life imagine a person trying this on and being like “oh wow Im going to buy this because it smells so good.”

JDP in black bears no relation to JDP in white and should have been given its own namesake as to distance the this dud from the legend. Only bought this to complete my collection and scratch the itch for it, but would never recommend one to buy this catastrophic mess.

I had a bottle of this when it was out and to be honest I never quite liked it, I think I gave it away or something.. I bought a bottle recently in a hidden little perfume shop in the middle of nowhere and guess what - I still don't like it.. But in the midst of the current perfume scene I find it interesting enough. For me there's WAAAAY TOO MUCH licorice here and somewhat enough cherry, there's barely anything else to smell..maybe patchouli and something powdery. Syrupy, like Golden Syrup, but the black version of it. Like burnt malt, cherry and licorice. A candy I wouldn't like.. The name aptly describes the scent. I prefer In White, but still glad to have it in my collection. Hard to explain, but it is what it is..

miarose

I'm revisiting my bottle because of all the new boozy cherry scents that have been released in the last few years. For those who love TF Lost Cherry, this is NOT similar to that one, though this one can still be had for under $100 if you get lucky. This is not a boozy, dark cherry, and it's not the same as the Cartier Delices EDP, though they both have the same vibe. It's does not quite pull a cherry scent here, it's more basic fruit that pushes cherry, and there is a body wash/shampoo quality to the fruitiness. Though citrus is listed, it's not as defined here, so it doesn't create a huge contrast, so the scent comes across a little powdery as a result. This is mostly nice fruit and floral. Actually, as I'm sniffing a bit longer, the floral that comes to the front is the lilac. Sweet cherry/fruit with lilac, and it's rather interesting, even unique, in a way. It's well done, in any case. I'm mostly catching a bit of vanilla and musk in the drydown, maybe a hint of the licorice, no woodiness as far as I can tell. The lilac note seems to be the strongest on me, with the underlying cherry fruit. Very different from Delices in my opinion, but very nice. You can also see my similarly recent post about Delices.

chimidoro

Sweet incensy vanilla with a lashing of licorice.
I favour other licorice laden scents over this, so this is kind of redundant for me.

AnlisaC

I’ve had this for many years, I saw someone post a review and I went to try iit out again since I haven’t used it in a while. This is exact clone of the Cartier fragrance in the “reminds me of” section above. It has that same sour cherry note and a floral drydown. the longevity is better than the above mentioned and sillage lingers and comes close to skin within a few hours. A very pretty spring scent in my eyes so I will pull it out then. Recommended 7/10 nothing unusual but not bad.

Phantomias

The counterpart of JdP In White, this fragrance aims to be the darker version. Sweet with a strange mentholated note, IB comes across as a melange of too many notes. Cherry can be a difficult note and some perfumes end up resembling cough syrup.
Performance is modest, the drydown is far nicer than the opening. Fairly unisex.

This is in my top 10 favorites of all time because when it came out, it was so different - dark, sultry, deep, and mysterious and although it doesn't last as long as it used to, it still smells amazing. My original bottle of this, circa 2005, was long-lasting and it radiated out so much, I had to be careful how much spray to use. Alas, that bottle leaked horribly and eventually the atomizer stopped working. I got a new bottle about 5 years ago (sans atomizer) and this one seems to be a little weaker. It still has that well-blended cherry-vanilla-licorice-incense mix although it doesn't bring to mind any Lolita Lempicka fragrances. I agree with another poster that this smells much more Halloweenish than J. Del Pozo's Halloween. This is an autumn/winter perfume while Halloween and most of its older flankers remind me of spring and summer. I find it unisex.

amanda-m-lewis

In Black is a very unique fragrance and to date I feel that I don't quite yet, understand it.

I can't work out the individual notes in it. As it literally is a so interwoven in its composition. And so, it has taken me a while to get used to, as at first, all I got was this marshmallow sweetness. But now, I pick up underneath that sweetness. The incense note, which peeks through like a supporting cast member.

If it was a person, In Black would be that new person you meet at a function who is so quiet and still, to the point you forget that they are there. Until, during conversation, they suddenly speak up and say something quite profound; which resonates with you. Leaving you to wonder who they really are?..Under that jet black hair, eyeliner, leather jacket and spectacles.. A complete enigma behind those eyes.

Opuszek

This is something I used to wear a lot when it first came out and I had very fond memories of this fragrance.

I have missed it for many years now and decided to grab myself another bottle while they are still available.

It is the same mood category as my favourite Alaia, minus the leather and metallic notes and plus liquorice, boozy cherry and woods.

On me it doesn't develop much and it's pretty linear, but in the drydown I get more sweet vanilla.

It can be a bit cloying, but the woody notes balance it out.
This is close to Kilian aesthetics, but in my opinion better blended.

Pandarapt

Dark, but only in an aesthetic satirical way, nothing menacing, brooding, gloomy or deeply dwelling about it, a modern, musical version of Nosferatu with the cast of Glee.
Cherry mashed candies on top of a chocolate mousse in soda fountain coloured globets and eating Black Forest cake during a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Show, ripped black fishnets and purple glitter included.
SN: The bottle is a hellish incontinent orb, leaked and left my purse smelling like it eats maraschino chocolate shells and listens to Bela Lugosi´s Dead all day which is pretty much how I wanted to smell in my poser, teen angst™ days.

Happiness_in_a_Bottle

I don't dare wear this often, I must confess. :) It's very strong, boozy, powerful, bold. I imagine it worn by a young woman dressed in a black dress, wearing purple lipstick, with Morticia Adams style hair, eating men for breakfast. :))
Seriously, keep it for very cold winter nights or chilly autumn weather.

And yes, it does smell synthetic. Cherry and Coke synthetic.

phrogfrau

this is fantastic - a totally underrated gem! It stays on forever too! I could smell it in my hair the next day even! Dusty, warm. deep licorice accord that you will want to keep smelling!

kati77

I have a sample. Its a quite heavy scent. On my skin at least. First few minutes i detect something like alcohol vanila bourbon cherry like.
Dark kind of, intensive, after 1 h less intensive. Sweet mix of cherry, licorice and vanilla. Can be good for evening out, in the club or disco.
It overwhelmes a lot i cant wear it longer than 15min.

sassy_shamrock

This just arrived in the post today. In the bottle it's just gorgeous, rich and creamy smelling. First initial spray on me is like a shot of the top shelf from the bar. After about 5 minutes it settles and my husband told me I smell like Dr. Pepper lol. After 30 minutes it's completely gone-guess my skin likes Dr Pepper!

Ocd scents

I received this in the mail yesterday, I was so excited to see a miniature bottle as they are hard to find. I thought t would be a get way to see if I like it, the notes seemed right up my alley. Honestly I don't know what to think about it. I love the way it smells when sniffing the bottle, but when I put it on it great for a little while. I can pick out the grapefruit, licorice and cherry it's a different kind of cherry than LPRN it's not sweet it's darker and a little smoky. I'm not sure about picking up a larger bottle it might smell stronger than the splash I got. I just wish it would hang around longer. Would love to get the body lotion but it' very hard to find. Sometimes it helps when you layer scents. Oh I I forgot to mention it reminds me somewhat of Lou Lou, don't know why.

Constansa

wearing it today. another lucky blind buy. somehow reminds Tom Ford one of orchids from the first impression but much lighter and suitable for the day wear. maybe for some people it could be too heavy even for the day but i like strong scents. description could give as it is light fruity one, but it is not. its original, femine, sexual but not too provocative. as i have EDT it does not last forever but stays on the skin now for the few good hours.

UnearthlyApothecary

Wow this smells pretty darn amazing, oddly what I smell at first is creamy cherry almond vanilla, layered over woods. After a few more wrist sniffs the licorice and violet are more noticeable. This is wonderful, kinda smoky and dark. Definitely FB worthy.

Tiger84

Love, love, love, crazy love. Why they discontinued this gem is beyond me. Extremely hard to find it where I live. I'm cherishing my bottle so much, and I keep saving it while I'm also terrified that it might go rancid while saving... complicated world. Dark and magical.

Nikkafragrance

In Black opens with a blast of sour sweetness. The cherry-licorice-vanilla combo makes it smell like fermented fruits for the first 10 mins. There is a certain smokiness in it. It's fruity, however with a boozy peach note. Silage on me is moderate. Indeed, this perfume smells black. Maybe the sweetness is not the type I am used to, I advise you to do not blind buy this. It's affordable, but you have to be a fan of licorice to love In Black.

Madrona

Cherry liquorice might make you think of La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain but this is very different. I sprayed two small sprays on my wrist and the SO sitting across the circular desk from me immediately reacted to it, so the throw is massive but I don't find it a loud scent. I am mostly getting the peach and grapefruit in the beginning, they mix into an almost tangerine-like scent. I was expecting this to be deeper and darker, my skin is definitely not bringing out any cherry tobacco (sadly).

NadiaQ

Wow. A wonderful summer fragrance for a confident woman. Sillage is very close to the skin, but being EDT, this was to be expected. Still, a surprisingly elegant scent for the price. Softly sensual.

olga_adriana

meh. not really a fan of this one. i get the cherry and vanilla, and a bit of licorice, but overall it smells very synthetic and just one spray on my wrist is kind of giving me a headache. i don't often use the word cloying to describe perfumes, but this one is cloying. This is often the case with cherry in perfumes in my opinion.

i really was intrigued by the notes in here. i expected this to be a little darker, a little heavier, but it seems very fruity-sweet. It's not moody, it's not cozy, it's not gothic...it does remind me a little of lolita lempicka, but less high end and less sophisticated than that.

it is strong and it lasts a while. i don't think i'd really want to be smelling like this around other people... it's a little yucky, idk.

Bigsly

I like this one and consider it unisex, but it's quite smooth (at least if you think of it as unisex), so I'm not sure this will be the "statement making" scent some might want it to be. At first I get quite a bit of the "dark" wine/fruit element, and it's a bit sweet, powdery, and vanillic. Over time it begins to remind me of chocolate. I never got the licorice and the patchouli is mild. Overall, I'm glad I bought it, but I was hoping there would be something else, such as the impression of tobacco in the background.

shushkin

I have the edp of this gorgeous fragrance. Ive tested Cartier Delice and Guerlains Robe Noir but this still knocks those two into a cocked hat. They are positively sickly sweet next to this smokey cherry dream. It could easily be a niche fragrance. Its not girly but all woman. Yes, you immediately get the vanilla, cherry and licorice but something (tobacco?) tones down the sweetness a bit and there is a smoky vibe. Its quite smooth which might be to do with the musk. I dont think the licorice note is as strong here as it is in Lolita Lempicka but I love licorice so its not a concern for me. I get the patch but its quite low key like the peach and jasmine. Average sillage but lasts for many hours on me.

sarka-destiny

I bought it because here is it is similar to Cartier Delices, but it is far from it I must say. Maybe it is because I am Cartier Delices lover, I don't know..., but I couldn't find anything what would it sticked to my drawer (I have all scetns in drawer in darkness). So I gave it to my lovely friend, because she liked it much.

The bottle is nice, the black colour makes it special.

mschnabel666

These are available on ebay for decent prices, I got one 3.3 oz for $17, and one for $22; which I both bought blindly because of the notes and reviews. This popped up on my radar because of the notes and comparison to La Petite Robe Noir and Lolita Lempicka (my fave perfumes).

This is a masculine medicine, dark patchouli smoky incense, and that doesn't appeal to me at all.... but yet... I like it! (It's funny because I find LPRN EDP so wrong, it's right!) In Black isn't strong at all for me, but makes for a musky clothing scent.
I mostly get a dark smoky incense, with just a small hint of fruit and floral, not like the cherry in LPRN at all. It is woody/tobacco too. I do like the nose, Christine Nagel, behind this, and I'm glad to have it. I'm even glad to have 2 bottles of it! But it's another one that is so wrong- it's right.
I'm somewhat of a goth myself, and I def see myself wearing this with my best dark goth outfit. ;)

I used to hate licorice and patchouli in perfumes, but both are heavily growing on me. Esp the licorice. Patch is still hit or miss for me, I just cannot stand Angel or Chopard Wish, even tho Wish grows on me too.

Dark Curls

i miss this! I always felt this was more suitable for Halloween than the flowery and syrupy sweet 'Halloween Kiss' - I remember this and somewhere along the line I used it up - must acquire another bottle stat for the halloween season that is upon us! I remember this smelling ecquisitely dark, sexily ominous, sweet and spicy with a pheremone element to it...I remember loving it...

Talicalicia

I hate having to give a review thats less than stellar...
Bought this blind based on the notes and reviews. Spraying it on a tester I was really pleasantly surprised at the scent. It was sweet and at the same time almost a little incense with a heavy cherry like hit. And I was jumping up and down in anticipation. But when I tried it on my skin...It started off alright but rapidly turned into some thing akin to that awful plastic scent you get from brand new barbie dolls. Heavy, synthetic and my husband across the room said "Thats not a smell I associate with perfume..." My cat who loves her cuddles first thing in the morning couldn't get away from me quick enough... I was horrified and prayed that the dry down would be better. It did improve after about an hour to a soft almost licorice, spicy scent.
enough that I didn't immediately go wash it off and it's wearable, even pleasantly unique.
But its definitely not going to be one of my everyday scents.

HannahNori

Received this today in the mail. I love it! It is right up my alley with it's incenses and Vanilla. It was a blind buy, based on it's notes and I am so happy I purchased this gorgeous scent.

DAL123

This is heavy, dark, smokey, and intense. And I love this. No flowers and sunshine here. Initial blast of cherry pipe tobacco and incense settles into a cherry vanilla scent. Not a candy shop cherry vanilla. Its sweet but in a way similar to how dark chocolate is sweet. Not sugary. The only licorice I get makes me think of how a licorice tinged incense might smell. I do not get the Lolita L'empicka or Pink Sugar kind of licorice. Its just not that sweet. The bottle compliments this perfume very well. If black were to have a scent I think this would be it. Not a light and girly scent. Its different and not something I have smelled on other people. Sprayed 3-4-5 sprays at 7 this morning (I have a slightly heavy hand with perfume...lol) and its almost noon now and I can still smell it as though it was recently sprayed. And I am leaving a scent trail that several of my co-workers have followed into my office...lol. Just love this!

Kompeito

She's a hot mess.
She stands outside the bar holding a fancy cigarette,
with deep red lipstick all over its tip.
Her leather jacket, mini skirt, and fishnets are all in black,
with patchouli oil on her neck and wrists.
She leans in with a sweet voice to ask if you have a light
and you can sense that she's probably had one too many drinks.
Jager and cherry coke are heavy on her breath... maybe some peach schnapps too.
Dressed so dark, yet her smile is bright.

lyciumchld

Powerful, pungent patchouli and synthetic sour cherry, for at least the first hour. Things start to round out a little bit after that, but the fragrance remains fairly linear. It's an interesting composition.

MadeiraD

Holy schnikeys, this stuff is GOOD, it smells like smoke, vanilla, licorice with a subtle hint of sweet fruits and patchouli. It's complex, it changes on the skin (seriously for those of you who think cough medicine, give it time to develop)

Lidell

Smells like dusty, old churches, a bad quality Cherry Queen dupe that has been expired, a way too old lipstick and a pretty violet on a cold and rainy 4 AM.
It's all gothic and has a beautiful way of showing a rare and deep dimension of adult femininity.

Anaïs Nin

Stirring, dark, sexy, smoky, I adore this! It reminds me of a cherry flavored pipe tobacco! It opens very alcoholic/synthetic smelling at first but the black cherry, licorice, the sweet tarty peach wine to brighten everything up as well as the warm mysterious blend of patchouli and cedar in the base and finally the powdery musk and patchouli on the drydown is really quite lovely! I have a back-up of this, longevity is about 4 hours and sillage is average.

polly golightly

dkny27

I always wonder from what continent the reviews are hailing from... Since I believe that formulas, batches and stock may vary...
For me, after having my eye on this just based on the notes; This really proved itself as a very nice fume.

I wouldn't call it floral fruity... There is too much of a dark side to this scent to be frilly and fun...
I get the cherry, but only as a component of the whole, which also includes the spicy licorice, patch and dry vanilla... I get the flowers as the slight sweetness which really blends nicely...

This lasts about 2-4 hours before it becomes a woody, vanilla skin scent... But I am quite impressed by this obscure beauty...

KATERINA LABROPOULOU

Spicy cherry wrapped in a sweet dark dream. My first del pozo perfume which was bought totally unsniffed and I was happily surpised with its quality and unusual bottle. Long lasting suitable for all seasons even summer and never turns bitter in hot conditions. Lovely perfume and a "plus" for my collection. Love!!

crookedrainbow

Recieved this today in the mail. So disappointed! Remember that plethora of "cherry" scented body lotions we had in the '90s? That horrid powdery, chemical, fake "cherry" scent? Yeah, that is what this is. I usually at least somewhat agree with the majority on these reviews, but not this one! Absolutely vile!! Will be going back in the mail for a return tomorrow.

2746cstreet

In Black smells like cherry vanilla incense. The cherry & licorice are the strongest notes, creating a nice balance of sweet & bitter. The licorice is very woody, not candy-like.
Beyond that, there's patchouli, musk, and purple flowers. I get a stronger scent of lilac than violet, but I do feel the violet gives a strong, powdery impression.
In Black is strong and heady. Best for evenings and even then applied lightly.

lirael00

Okey, this one is a really strange one. If you're more adventorous than you'll be liking this. If you want to smell nice and safe than skip it. I was expecting that this will be more of a Noir style perfume, just because of the black bottle and the name. So, more dark, sexy, lustrous. But it's quite the opposite. It opens very strong&fresh with cherries and liqurice in the lead. The smell of the cherries is really something special here. Like they were burnt or something. I imagine putting those cherries in a pan and adding a lot of sugar and then accidentaly burning them. But after a few minutes the burnt scent is gone and then you have a nice peppery cherry wine, which I kinda like. Although I'm still deciding for what occassion I would wear this fragrance, I'm sure I will figure something out.

Snookums

This is one of the few fragrances that I really can't stand! I was given a bottle as a gift and had to give it away, too dark and depressing. All I could think of when wearing it was a group of old men sitting around in a dodgy bar smoking cigars.

cherry_lips

I wanted to try this for a long tme and now when i have a sample I'm kind of disappointed. On my skin this scent is all about liquor cherry and licorice, hint of vanilla and nasty patchouli. It is sweet, dark and lusty, yes, but I really don't like patchouli as a leading note. Over all is not my cup of tea, sadly because I like cherry in perfume, and I really wanted to like In Black by Del Pozo.

lilou

What a wonderful blind buy ! I thought the notes were perfect for me and I was right. It's so delicious and amazing !
Mischievious at first, with a sort of peppery cherry, it becomes creamy and wrapping, with vanilla and licorice. I'm totally bewitched !
Of course it reminds me of Delices - Cartier (which I love too) but In Black is more seductive and deep.
The lasting power is excellent, and it's not expensive at all for all these good points.

EvaMG

Creamy, velvety cherry-vanilla, not overtly sweet, not fresh as in Cartier's Delices. I feel the accords of rose and peach wine, it's more fruity than floral. Hardly feel any liquorice, which is great, as I dislike it. Medium sillage and projection.
Its powdery quality makes it more suitable for winter or nights, nevertheless it's subtle enough to wear it day time all year round.
All in all, a pretty soft cherry.

lyria

On me, or to my nose, after several minutes it is only the intensified smell of beer...

angeldoll

It's definitely dark scent... I do not know why, but on my skin smells fruity fresh. Really ! In the beginning its very fresh, strong and sharp. Over time, the smell is a little sweeter but not too much. I smell patchouli especially, then cherries & licorice. And yeah, I must say that I feel the alcohol in it. Something like a liqueur or rum :-) Its boozy, patchouli sweet cherry scent. Recommended for evening !

Museumgal

Dark cherry and a blast of licorice, then some vanilla to smooth out. The composition is a little harsh the first few minutes maybe a touch too much licorice -- but the vanilla really tames it. Cherries aren't too sweet but have sort of a boozy quality. Rich and long lasting. This would be intolerable if you don't like licorice though, its very strong in this one.

am78

First spritz I smell the cherry and the vanilla... then once the fragrance has settled on the skin the spiciness of the juice comes through followed up by the patchouli and cedar that is meshed so well together. I must say that I love this perfume! It's one that will get you noticed but not in a loud way. Some have said that it has a cheap fragrance with a cheap price... I have to say that I think it's a gorgeous fragrance with an amazing price and this being my first Jesus Del Pozo fragrance it will not be my last or one and only. This is the perfect Fall Frag very dark and mysterious and really different all together. I can't stop sniffing my arm.

darcy2

I was wandering around Dillard's in at the South Park Mall in Charlotte NC recently and absentmindedly cruised through their fragrance department. I didn't expect to find anything notable, because anything close to notable is usually found over at Neiman Marcus and to a lesser extent Nordstrom's (although they do give you free samples!) I initially thought, what a nice bottle - it had an retro looking atomizer on a shiny black sphere of a bottle. I didn't expect much, which always helps a perfume. I immediately got a burst of cherries with a salicylate edge. I thought it might go over into an Amarige type opening but within seconds it veered away from flowery into licorice and jam. I had hoped for this type of fragrance when I blind bought Nina Ricci Nina. This smelled like cherries without reminding me of cherry air fresheners, which have a really negative scent association for me. I thought it was probably full bottle worthy but wanted to compare it to Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire. I found them very similar indeed, except for price...Jesus de Pozo in Black is much less expensive!

evacecilias

Very nice licorice, wich are with you from the start, together with dark cherries. This is a slightly darker perfume than my new fav Si, by Armani .or the licorise reglisse without the citruses. This shows more of the beautiful flowers after ten minutes , even if they are hard to separate from each other...
after about ten minutes wear, it is really smooth , has depth and is perfectly blended. Gets a little powdery after half an hour..
Finally a black perfume worth its name !
Licorice, complex and just lovely.

StopHammertime

WHOA not what I was expecting. Maybe I just built it up too much in my head before finally getting it. It smells like stale breath that had eaten fruit loops 5 hours ago.

Dino Napoleão

Gothic, dark, sensual, mysterious and dense, with those words I define this fragrance. In his notes there is a perfect balance: Cherries licorice, patchouli, violet and jasmine. There is a characteristic sweet but not cloying. Perfect for cold days and nights.
An adult fragrance with opulent sillage and excellent longevity!.

Marieline23

Un super bon parfum à un prix très abordable. Il sent un peu comme Délice de Cartier mais avec une agréable note de réglisse. J'ai toujours eu un faible pour les parfums sucrés et fuités, celui -ci le fait mais en plus il fait très ''femme''.

ditush

Just like a few other reviewers I also smell chocolate in this even though it's not listed. This is not sweet like Angel - TM, it's very creamy and has the right amount of cherries. The projection and longetivity are great.
Many people compare it to Cartier - Delices here but to me Delices has a crisp note that smells like a fresh cherry and bergamot juice. I love both but they are rather different. This one also last much much longer than Delices!

EDIT: Have you noticed that this and Cartier Delices were both created by Christine Nagel in 2006? Ha ha.

siauseque

Very intrigued by this, really swept up by the first sniff. Cherries, floral, something dark...tar?oxidized red wine?raisins? Dabbed it right on to see what was next... I couldn't put this Genie back in her little black bowling ball, but I think I'll just leave her in there with all her crushed velvet and slinky black dresses. I want to roll in fresh cut grass after this.

StellaDiverFlynn

I get sour cherry and licorice all the way through the development of In Black. The opening is a strong combination of these two notes. It smells like sugary cherries pickled in liqueur or dried fruits type cherries. It's very sweet, but well balanced with the woodiness of licorice, smells edible and addictive.

Towards the drydown, jasmine and vanilla seem to be amplified on me and the whole scent turns from oriental-fruity-gourmand to a more floral fragrance. Nevertheless, thanks to the always present cherry and licorice, the jasmine + sweet vanilla combo in In Black has its very own caracter. The sillage is not bad for an EDT and the longevity is around 7h.

I don't find it particularly 'dark' but I do agree with the similarity to Lolita Lempicka universe. It kind of switches between girl and woman, playfulness and maturity, like mystery under an innocent face.

nyoka

Revision. There r no chocolate notes in this,,its the licorice, vanilla together that makes it have that scent.

nyoka

A dear friend of mine (JILLZILLA) gave me a whole 3.4 oz bottle of this.Trouble was,,,the sprayer was missing. After trying several other spray nozzels and having NO luck,I set it aside in my fume cabinet. That was nearly 4 years ago! All these years,Ive been looking for a sweet, floral, fruity, rosey, patchoulli laden, vanilla ,chocolate scent. I went after it with a vengeance! Bottle after bottle I searched. Too little this, too much that.

Why oh why I asked, cant I find a fume like that? And,while we are at it, I want one that projects like a church steeple and last from morning to morning!!!After growing tired of ALL my quests,I spied the black bottle with the flying saucer top! AH ha! I AM going to find out what this fume smells like!!~!

My husband and I tried nearly EVERY sprayer off 130 something bottles of fumes. NO matter it might contaminate them ,I was going somehow to get to this juice. We tried prying the sprayer housing off. NO. I thought about breaking the bottle,NO. Finally,I took an ice pick and stuck a hole down thru the middle of the housing itself. I gently turned the bottle over,,,Out came a stream of the best smelling juice I have ever smelled!!

I quickly grabbed some decant bottles and my fume funnel. I got out every last drop!! 3 decants full! Here was The HOLY GRAIL of fumes for me!!!I love It. Just the yummy enough sweet, fruity scent. A good amm ount of chocolate and vanilla with a rosy, african violet, patchoulli base!!! I am in heaven!!!

I immediately ordered 2 3.4 oz bottles from AMAZON for only 19.95 each!!!! I really wonder if I shouldn't buy every bottle there is,in case they stop making it.IT IS ME!!! I guess this fume quest was a lot like life. You go out seeking ur hearts desire and when u r finished, there it was all along, waiting on u to do the work to get it. THanks Jillzilla!!!

Be careful with this fragrance. It's strong and has a "Dark & Mature" character. It's full of -kind of cherry rum / liquor , some spicy and vanilla notes- mixed with mature classic perfume smell. Sorry, I Didn't notice much chocolate,,,I saw someone mentioned in reviews about it's similarity to Lolita Lempicka's Midnight perfumes, but I have to say that there's not so much in-common. They're are different. Lolita Lempicka it's another story. The only notes that reminds little bit of it is a licorice wood and maybe vanilla in background notes. "In Black" is very sweet and seductive indeed, great for cold season's and especially I like to use it during rainy day's.... quite calming mixture. Don't spray too much otherwise your neighbors or co-workers will have to evacuate! :)

Fizzy

Buy a good milk chocolate liquor and cherry liquor, open them and let it stay opened for two months in the warm kitchen. Then prepare sugared milk ice cream and pour first the long opened cherry liquor and after 30 minutes the chocolate liquor. Decorate with some patchouli leaves. Voila!

Licorice? No. As I have bought some pure licorice dried root for making tee in the local pharmacy to get my low blood pressure higher (I am tall and slim and when I stand up quickly, I feel dizzy). This licorice dried root in the paper bag smells totally different than YDP.

Seras213

To me, this fragrance resembles a modernized Habanita de Molinard. You've got the dark powdery rose that lingers long after the sharp cherry liqueur fades (which is rather fast on my skin). Eventually the peach and lilac start to emerge, but it still retains a powdery trail. This scent is sexy- but not an over the top fruity floral mix with musk that is common now. This is like incense. Pleasantly thick and ripe, and the scent just swells throughout the day, which is when the musk and vanilla start to creep out. This scent can be worn by most age groups- but it doesn't convey youth. It conveys the type of glamor reminiscent of silver screen sirens, while still staying away from "old lady" territory (a very difficult balance). It takes a ballsy chick to wear this, especially in the day, but that's why it's so special.

guillermostf

In black smells like make up and vanilla to me. And it's good. Sexy and fits good in the night.
Moderate longevity or medium. 3 stars. The bottle design is very nice, i think sculpts a black moon droping nocturn sexy air.

Cthulhu

If I would have to describe this fragrance by one word, I would say 'multifaceted'.
The first time I smelled 'In Black', I was shocked by the intensity and dominance of licorice and cherry. It also had something masculine. But when the scent dried down, I had the feeling that I was encased by a soft and warm cloud, which carried me away from reality.
I would definitely recommend 'In Black' to those, who like to be individual and to be perceived by others.

wendyyparty

Our first encounter took place three weeks ago…

It was a cold raining night. This mysterious lady In Black accompanied me to my place.

Closing the door, dropping my things on the floor, I practically stripped her cloths off with very much excitement. Her lips tasted like cherry, our first kiss was bitter sweet which I think oh so hot. And while I was getting to know her better… her body whispered a creamy musky-chocolate.

Hours after hours later, she's still melting, projecting those compellingly dark, sweet and delicious scents on me. The experience I’ve never known before.

One other thing about this lady In Black, she’s strong and could stay with you until dawn ;)

rm11212

smells like dark cherry licorice and kind of chocalatey...not for everyday use but for when youre feeling sexy and want to stand out this one is perfect. plus the price is right very affordable.

mippymuppett

Totally puzzled!!! I'm still on the fence with this one. On me, this was a difficult start. Very harsh on my skin and not attractive but once it started to relax it mellowed and became much prettier. I can't imagine I would reach for this bottle often. Cartier Delices is my favorite scent for fall and winter so I am hoping this grows on me so I have another option. To be fair I tried this in June in Nashville, TN where it is hot hot hot and muggy. I think I will try again when the weather starts to turn!!!

PricklyAndHot

Dark, intensive and juicy fruity floral fragrance.

The most noticeable note in the fragrance is the black cherry note, which makes it more mysterious. The black lily, violet, licorice wood and patchouli notes make the leading note more deep. And the vanilla note sweetness makes this fragrance more lively.

I like this fragrance, when it opens not too intensive to be annoying, because it seems to me seductive.

Hayven

This perfume is not what I had expected. I bought this at a very low price, and the box it came in was sleek and very expensive-looking, wrapped in a white ribbon. I bought the bottle with the "old-fashioned" atomizer.

All the notes are fighting each other for attention in this. Like Olga said, everything is muddled. I am having a difficult time picking out any notes. This perfume is a tad fruity, but it's not as sweet fruity as I would have liked.

This fragrance smells like it would be fitting for a woman who "ages like fine wine". But at this moment in time, it does not fit me.

BelleofRivendell

If I could describe the color of this perfume it would be deep red, not black. Opens up like cherry wine on my skin. In time it turns into an exquisitely dark berry-laden fragrance anchored by vanilla and licorice while the lilacs and violets twirl around on my skin like purple fairies. This is a very mysterious and sexy scent. On the right skin, it will sing like the perfect gothic song. Full bottle worthy for me.

courant

Starts strongly licorice. Opens to an elfin beauty. If it were a rose it would be Crepuscule, the evening twilight. Quite bewitching. Michael Edwards suggests you will like Coco Mademoiselle if you like this. My daughter wears Coco Mdmslle so I have never tried it on my fifty something Irish skin, but if my memory serves me there is a similarity. I offer it as a guide.
The cherry is carnal. I love it. Not for the faint hearted.

hanalilly

I LOVE THIS SCENT!!!

When I first tried this on my skin a while ago, I wanted to cut my arm off... I absolutely HATED it and washed it off straight away. I went back to it later as I smelt this on a client of mine who told me she hated it at first too, but that I should wait for the dry down..... So I did, and WOW, I cannot get enough of this amazing, exotic, wonderfully sexy scent!!

My new favourite... For now. ;-P

Boquitaspintadas

This is UNIQUE!!! It´s the exactly opposite from the other Jesus del Pozo perfum: In White. This perfume is warm, is like a nice cup of hot milk with caramel and a blanket in the middle of the winter. It´s sweet but in a "mature" way, nothing like those fruty new fragrances that smell all the same. This is deep and mysterious. It makes me feel important when i wear it. Not for young or informal woman

Winter

Essentially smells like sweet licorice, with a strong vanilla background adorable.
Despite having vanilla, not it is an extremely sweet fragrance as many parfums gourmands. The vanilla end looks a little dry, it does intense but not heavy.
This fragrance specially for autumn and winter.
The format of luxury is wonderful.
Black and silver, shiny, ¡have a very elegant knob!

reginnaa

yess! I was trying to think of what it reminds me,,know! I know!,,,escada sentiment

reginnaa

Just got this today...not what I expected, it is an ok perfume...to mi skin it smells something in between white diamonds and poison...can not get any dark notes of the perfume rather than a sweet candy already evaporated...could use it for a daily normal day perfume

nikitajade

I get an interesting, kind of smoky cantalope. I also get a very crisp--almost but not quite cucumber. Then the licorice develops, not overwhelming just adding to the depth of this fragrance. It's intriguing, i don't think i've ever smelled sweet crisp darkness before. it's not the love of my life, but it's a definite summer fling :)

Jillzilla

@sheridanellis:

Having owned both, I would have to say "no" this one is not like Midnight Fantasy, due to the very present licorice note in In Black. Midnight Fantasy felt more like cherry-plum-orchid-musk and In Black felt more like cherry-violet-licorice-patchouli to me.

meowiewowie

JDP in Black is bold, dark, and daring... while still remaining remarkably feminine. I applied yesterday afternoon, and was still smelling it this morning on my skin, clothing, and even the sheets! Excellent projection, but doesn't choke. It feels a little heavy, but to me, that's not a bad thing ~ great in cool weather/climates.

małgorzata.kupiec

Opening of the cherry-liqueur with a hint of dry, sweet cocoa, ending vanilla and sandalwood [I can't smell the the promised cedar tree only the sandalwood]. Nice, pretty, a little overwhelming at first, but I can not complain about the whole - very fine, solid composition - after the dissapointings of Halloween, I felt pleasantly surprised.

Smell easily remains at me 8 hours, which is also a significant advantage

This is not the The fragrance of my life, so I rather won't come back to it but it was worth taking a closer look .

andjela

summer night, indeed.peaceful, warm, without worry in the world...i'm getting pine smell warmed by the sun from somewhere far,far away...

Swishy

Sexy. Cherry, patchouli, dark chocolate, rose, vanilla, pepper. I love this one. Great for an evening out when you're all dressed up in your favourite style and feeling fabulous. It makes me glad that I'm a woman.

Annica

I had high expectations of Black but all I get is a fruity, powdery and utterly boring fragrance, nothing to write home about and not worth the price. Try before buy is my advice.

Raquel73

HelenFlowerz

For me they are disgusting, too sweet and cheap, like old cherry jam. Not comparable with Cartier-Delices.

[email protected]

Very warm fragrance with elements of mysticism.
Associated with a glass of old, good strong dry wine, served in a heated and charred oak cup. It is viscous, enveloping a cherry flavor, interwoven with the smoke and the smell of smoldering wood creates a wonderful, very intimate and sexy fragrance.
Full power, affecting all his strings and using the most complex organ chords of his music shows in the winter and cool in autumn.
Patchouli in it is gorgeous!

PenelopeLA

One of my favorites! Perfect for a night out. Really, its perfect for daytime wear also. This changes so dramatically within the first five minutes from very sweet to something soft and beautiful. I love the way it smells when I spritz some in my hair. Sometimes I can still smell it the next morning when I move my head just the right way :)

olga1780

Very unimpressed with this composition. The notes are kind of muddled with very low sillage and a very mediocre overall effect. I have Delices EDP and they have very little if anything at all in common. Delices is very elegant bright red cherry and vanilla mixture, radiating sillage and with a lot of transparency, while In Black is very unnatural smelling sitting oppresively on the skin.
I do get some cherry and licorice, but I would rather stick with my G Gigli which is a fantastic cherry fragrance, and for licorice i would reach for Caron eau de Reglisse.
I am glad I have an oportunity to return it....very disappointed, because I really like Halloween.

la louve

I love to wear it now... in the summertime, during day and night. This cherry-dark-chocolate-smooth-patchouli-rose- smell ( I know there is no chocolate listed... but I can smell it! A little bit like "Mon Chéri". ;-))... mmmh... it´s so special, for me...!;-) It´s such a pity, that Jesús del Pozo died this month... rest in peace! <3 LOVE from LOUVE

PerfumedPrincess

Sweet, dark, and mysterious is how I would classify In Black. The opening is cherry sweetness balanced by the earthiness of patchouli. As the fragrance wore on, I experienced mainly the jasmine, woods, patchouli, and the slight hint of the rose. It reminds me of a more mature version of Lolita Lempicka's Fleur Defendue.

All in all I really enjoyed this fragrance. I can easily picture this fragrance going well with the sexy librarian look. It is such a study in contrasts, that it's an enjoyable experience.

I rate it 8 out of 10. The longevity is great, the sillage is above average. I recommend it for fall, winter, and evening wear.

gsiqueiros

LOVE this perfume!! It makes me feel SEXY and daring!! It's most suitable to wear during night time. The mixture of the cherry with the vanilla reminds me of sweet marachino cherries in syrup, yet the vanilla, patchouli and musk add a mysterious scent to it the wraps its self around you and won't let go.I can also sense a sweet but yet woodsy aroma to it in the dry down it must be the licorice. It sweet but not overpowering it allows for the florals to come in and sweep you off your feet. The florals act more as a neutralizer and it works great to balance the perfume and not make it too woodsy!!
LOVE it just the right chemistry for a great perfume!!

perilandia

I love this perfume is very feminine and sweet chocolatoso. In my skin feels like a mixture of Paco Rabanne Black XS with Narciso Rodriguez for her topped with chocolate

Vamy69

This stuff is wicked good!!!! Juicy, dark, mysterious, warm all in one yummy bottle! I can pick out the licorice and vanilla right away. I can also pick out the cherry and patchouli but I think the vanilla and licorice dominate more. It sort of reminds me of Lolita Lempicka but with more "goth" to it. I love love love it!

Tigerlillian

Dark and delicious without being too serious. This reminds me of black cherries soaked in a light port wine syrup.

I get a lot of lilac and violet with a little jasmine and rose. The peach also offers some nice, fresh body.

As In Black evolves further, I get to enjoy such a beautifully layered finish--not too much obvious licorice, just enough to add interest and warmth in combination with drops of vanilla, some earthiness that's sweet (cedar and vanilla are such a fantastic combination) and--in concurrence with sherapop--a little Lolita Lempickaesque.

Well balanced and clean, yet still dark and tantalizingly delicious with a fruity oriental feel.

Norgirl

Im trying this on as we speak . It is a dark mystyrios , (but not strong )enchanting perfume . The grapefruit starts off very citrusy, the cherrys blended well in . and then it softens in to a flowery slightly sweetspicy mix. the liquerice lingers all at the back ,not very strong but i can feel it .
A good but bit darker then my comfortsone at this momant ,this is more a winter or autumn sent i think or for night use.

at the begining this reminded me off Fairytale by L.G
but where the fairytale goes sweet and chocolate vanilla , this goes flowery and liqueric.

like them bouth . but not quite shure if i want a whole bottle jet . have to try a little bit more first

onimoka

I just got this one and I am sooo L O V I N G it!
It is a bit sharp and spicy at first, but at the same time it is very soft and very floral. On my skin, vanilla and peach settels softly as a drydown notes. Actually, the drydown could be described as soft, creamy an choklad like smell. Very nice. I will be wearing it for day & nigt. Soon, I will be attending a bachelor party and I am wearing black del pozo for sure! Staying power is good for EDT.

violetrose

I bought this one unsniffed and didn't like it at all. It smells funeral. All i can smell is dark chocolate with a hint of cherry and incense. I don't smell the rose, peach nor the jasmine. Recently, I wanna look something different as im attending a party. Put on very dark lipstick, sexy black dress kinda gothic. Sprayed on Stella Rose Absolut perfume...hey somethin's lacking. I wanna look & smell mysterious...a spritz of black del pozo..hey got loads of compliments..it works when mixed w/ any rose perfume, rose notes is not prominent in black del pozo. xxx

sherapop

Jesus del Pozo IN BLACK could easily have been launched by Lolita Lempicka. It's not identical to any of the perfumes of that house which I've tried, but it definitely inhabits the same general olfactory neighborhood. I don't think that there is a simple, clear category into which either IN BLACK or LOLITA LEMPICKA fits easily. But they are closer to one another than either is to anything else. I definitely disagree with those who find similarities between IN BLACK and BLACK ORCHID (either formulation). To me, IN BLACK is strictly a Lolita Lempicka-esque creation.

IN BLACK opens with a hint of a black rubbery quality which interestingly enough manifests itself also in LOLITA LEMPICKA but not until the drydown. LL opens much sweeter, and, in a side-by-side comparison, I prefer the opening of LL to that of IN BLACK, which seems slightly sour and harsh initially--especially when directly compared with LL. However, IN BLACK gets much better as it dries down and eventually becomes nicer than LOLITA LEMPICKA, which has a much stronger black rubbery note in the drydown than in the opening.

Since what matters most, in my opinion, is the lengthy drydown, not the fleeting opening, I can definitely recommend IN BLACK to anyone who likes Lolita Lempicka's general style. Needless to say: you must like black licorice--it's a prerequisite to appreciating these perfumes.

Jillzilla

The top and heart notes combined on my skin to create a slightly sharp opening, and the fragrance dried down to a sweet, woody, almost gourmand type of scent. While I could tolerate the top and heart notes (I have some trouble with violet and lilac), it was the dry-down that I always waited for. However, after a few wears, eventually the licorice got to me, and I had to give the fragrance away.

Lady Love

Gotic! Dark! Wicked! Luscious!

Fruity Floral???! No Way!!! This is an oustanding oriental woody fragrance, and my favourite one from the last decade.

On my skin morphs from a medicinal candy to a warm, rather licory and delicious woody scent. Yes, it is perfumey, Defiant and Rebellious, it tries not to be girly or friendly. I would compare this with Midnight Poison or Black XS For Her.

The staying power has been very good so far!

Natalie467

I was pleasantly surprised by this! The opening is a bit sweet with the cherry/citrus notes, but it faded fast enough into a smooth licorice-musk-patchouli drydown with a hint of cherry. like cherry pipe tobacco others have mentioned here.

Under normal circumstances, I hate, hate, HATE licorice, won't touch the black licorice nor a black jelly bean or those brightly striped candies that look so bold and colorful (and taste so nasty to me) or that horrible Sambuca drink. But the licorice here combined with the cherry, patchouli, vanilla and floral is fabulous. I may even try a bite of licorice someday due to this smelling so good. It's that good.

I swear I detect almond in this also. In Black reminds me of a more spicier, gourmand and less sweet version of My Insolence. I just checked and they have only a couple of notes in common:jasmine, citrus and patchouli. Hmmmmm.

Silliage and longevity are great, lasts several hours on me-I do spray a bit on my clothes which helps.

MsMaryO

I absolutely loved the cherry pipe tobacco dry down. It's dark, sweet and spicy and lasts a long time. I love that in my scents. BUT it takes a long time to get there. It opens so syrupy and synthetic that I can't justify wearing it. It took a good 1 1/2-2 hours for that synthetic blast to die down on my skin.

Although it has good longevity, 4-5 hours, it's no-go for me.

NebraskaLovesScent

I bought JdP In Black unsniffed, after hearing comparisons to Tom Ford's Black Orchid. Good news: it's more wearable than Black Orchid (though it is not a smell-alike. If Black Orchid is what you want, this one can't substitute.) Not so good news: I have mixed feelings about it, even after several wearings.

In Black goes on much sweeter than I expected. At first spritz, it reminds me of those chocolate shells filled with gooey cherry liqueur and a sickeningly-sweet maraschino cherry. I really don't care for this phase at all. It improves after 5 to 10 minutes when the heart notes appear. Phase 2 presents as a woody violet with occasional wafts of lilac. I like this phase very much. The dry-down on me is pleasant but nothing special, spicy musk with a last lingering trace of cedar.

Longevity is on the low end of average for this concentration. I get five hours at most. Otherwise, it's well-crafted and complex, with average sillage for an EDT. I would probably enjoy this scent on another person. Just not sure yet if it's my thing.

t_russell335

someone said that this one smells like chocolate covered fruit soaked in booze... according to the site, it contains peach wine

demimonde

a very distinctive scent, I wear it when I want to feel confident, seductive and alluring it is great for winter evenings, mysterious, warm and soothing, but stays individual.

I once sprayed it as I was getting ready to go out, my bf was in the bathroom, the door was open and he yelled out accusing me of eating chocolate!
It has a definite chocolate phase, I get pepper from it too.
Quirky and unique, not for everyone.

hollycat

When I first applied this perfume the first thing that came to mind was chocolate covered cherries soaked in booze, later as it evolved it started to smell of dark chocolate. I know chocolate is not in the notes but to my nose the black cherry is so ripe for the plucking, coupled with the licorice that it ends up smelling of rich chocolate on me. Later it becomes creamy and still chocolaty on a vanilla base. An oriental/gourmand scent IMO. It faded fast. So longevity is not so good.

TankGirl

In Black is definetly a night perfume to wear in winter, or in a cold night. Perfect for dark side girls. When I smell it I think of black lace dresses, red wine lips, corsets and all that dark side clothes. Yes is a modern gothic perfume. Really sweet, really black and red, the cherry note is genious combined with the licourice, the violet and the vanilla (I cant smell anything else on my skin). I wouldnt say that it smells like this or that, but it has the same "mood" of Black XS and I dare to say Hypnotic Poison. As a dark side (wannabe/poser)chick I say to In Black: yes yes yes 5*

UPDATE: the lasting power sucks :'( snifsnif

nyoka

THis is the best floral fruity ever. The licorice kisses the sweet berries with just the right ammount of zing.I love the way the vanilla swirls and blends it all together. The dry down is like the ripest of fruits in a bowl with vanilla and cream on them. The spice makes it exotic and very classy. All in all a very well made fume!

gypsykitten

I like all of the notes here, but I guess not all together. In the same way I like black olives, and I like maple syrup, but not together, I think the notes here could be separated into two good perfumes. As is, it's too unbalanced and busy to my nose.

Jillzilla

I find this scent more of a floral-fruity-gourmand on my chemistry.

Because violet tends to misbehave on my skin, I get something like "cherry lipstick" in the top notes. It persists through the heart where I start to get whiffs of peach and licorice. Licorice can also be very difficult for me, but fortunately, I find that the heart of the fragrance is short-lived.

An eager base of sweet and sumptuous patchouli-cedar-vanilla soon emerges and persists. I would imagine that violet lovers and patchouli lovers alike would enjoy this fragrance. If you love both, I recommend this scent. It's very unusual!

Agent Provocateur101

In Black.

You confuse and intrigue me!!
You pose as a good natured fruity/floral,but you are actually an imposter to this category, you are much better suited to the "oriental" and "gourmand" families.
You give a whole new meaning to the word "fruity"

I simply cannot get enough of this deliciously edible scent, reminds of a rich and calorific trifle, whipped cream goodness, vanillary custard, gooey sponge and tinned fruit segments, suspended in clear glacier-like jelly, tempting you to have an extra large portion, and of which you will probably go back for second helpings.

Cherries and vanilla are the main attraction of this scent which i find hard not to take a lick of my wrist, yet there is an artificialness to this scent which, at last minute stops me from eating my wrist.
The artificial note isnt in any way bad, but it is definately detectable, on the contrary, it adds a deep, dark depth to an otherwise run-of-the-mill "fruity/floral.

This fragrance sends my brain into "overdrive" as i ponder its uniqueness, artificialness and its olfactive family ;)

A worthy (and yummy) blind purchase.
Ladies...you need to try this
xxx

Lydiamarine

This was a blind purchase again for a very very good price and all I can say is...WOW! It just hit me! This perfume is so sensual, so warm and so black... It is well blended but you still can smell the sour sweetness of cherry and warmness of vanilla and pathouli. For me it is not floral fruity but more like fruity oriental.
A must have for sensual, smoky perfume lovers. I love it!

skitten

In Black arrived at my door today. Never smelt it before, so in anticipation, I ran inside and opened it. Sprayed it on and Yes......... it is exquisite, Warm, sweet and touches of spice that blend wonderfully. Is lasting on my skin, and the scent wafts up like a little cloud, bringing joy to my nose. A perfect oriental for me. I am to buy another bottle right away, as I have found my almost, everyday perfume. Adore it to bits.....x

myrrhmaid

Dark and fruity ,really unusual and quite a surprise. Sadly it didn't last long on my skin.

Andi Clark

This one reminds me very much of Tom Ford's Black Orchid. Though I don't see it listed as a note, I sense an underlying chocolate accord along with the vanilla.
Very beautiful fragrance. It is woman-centric in it's scents. Very sweet (not cloying) and it makes you feel like a million dollars (worth of candy.)
Love it.
Fans of sweet perfumes need look no further. This is the perfect balance of sweet and fruity/ floral. Just brilliant.

ezdravkova

horrible at first.. but then turns into something very similar to Narciso Rodriguez's For Her.. great if you spray on your clothes and put them on an hour later.. otherwise i could not live through the beginning..

rotorres

In Black is different from any perfume I've ever smelled or own.I like it so far and my husband says "mmm, now that smells good".It reminds me of chocolate covered cherry candies with booze.AS for longevity, I can still catch whiffs six hours after applying.I think it will go great with warm spring weather.Well worth the $12.99 I paid for it. I think I shall try more of Mr. Del Pozo's perfumes.

Dark Curls

Wow this smells really good I can't stop smelling my wrist! I am glad my risk taking with this one worked out in my favor! I shall wear this to deathrock disko tomorrow night. :-)

Sissi

I Notice some Incense and Black Licorice in this Perfume i expected
more of an Oriental woody scent before
i first tried it. i thought there whould
be benzion Oppopponox Civet Something
more woody i was a bit dissapointed.
but this has a class of it's own.
very suble but it you noticed.
it's a very Deletable scent. a Great perfume for Seduction.

Dark Curls

to Adriana_87: hmm i have never smelled that one. i plan to order a bottle of in black later this week..hope i like it! :-)

Adriana_87

To Darkcurls,if you like delices cartier, you will like this one..maybe more since it is the darker side of delices. This one could be the elixir/extreme version of delices;)

Dark Curls

this looks like my kind of fragrance. I am all about the gothic scene from the music to the black hair and nails, to the clothes to the make-up. I love to dress up in my best fishnets, boots, & goth wear with my fiance & go out & dance all night. I gotta try this.

maijaaijam

This is my second review.
Completely different feelings now - I'm in love with this:)
Dark, gothic, smoky and warm. Fruity and woody at the same time, definately - unusual. And I'm glad, that it's underrated & quite rare in other perfume collections(how egoistic).
Bottle is allmost empty and I'm going to purchase one more bottle..or maybe five bottles:D

om

First idea, which came to my mind after testing it:
Tyre powder mixed with sugar:)
Very odd, but worth trying again;)

nezzabel

Odd.
Dark.
Moody.
This is a strong characther perfume... heavy and heady, this one fits this cold season like a glove!

The scent is very unique, it does not resemble me at all Lolita, Délices or any other perfume. It's bold, with a strong cherry note at the begining and I could swear that I smell chocolate and whiskey... maybe is the licorice, vanilla patchouli play me a trick!
This perfume embodies exactly the Mon Chéri chocolates scent!

So gourmand, but so dark at the same time. Superb lasting power and pretty good sillage.
Truly a keeper for the coldest days of Winter when you need some warmth or for those days you are in a vampiric and dark mood... this always makes me think about this vampire trend these days!!=)

Halvah

It is strange, unusual, you need courage to wear it, but the lasting power is one of the greatests!
Yes, "gothic" expresses this smell very well. Strangely enough on my skin is kind of cool and dry instead of being warm, it's spicy, but almost a minty way. On the other hand it's kind of gourmand, and dark, dark, very dark. A good choise for young ladies wearing black and being fond of unique/extreme clothing and make-up.
Personally, I don't like it, whenever I tried it on my skin I wanted to wash it off, but it's hardly possible.
The bottle is beautiful, though!

taylor

i think this is like exotic licorice with vanilla. sweet, spicy and sexy. this is hot. i MUST add this to my collection.
and yes, i agree with others, it´s kind of gothic.

This is indeed a really unusual floral fruity perfume.

It is dark, mysterious, sweet in a gothic way, even though there's not that much dramatic change between top notes, middle and base notes, but this perfume just kept me coming back and keep on sniffing my wrist and somehow, feel addicted, and feel the perfume is edible.

Strange enough, right after spray it on me, In Black reminds me of dark chocolate with rum, cherry or dried grapes/currant in it. The kinda rum feeling is fresh and delicious to start with, and then it gradually goes into a more mudcake smelling phase with pepermint hint. It's cosy, but as well as clean at the same time.

It is really an interesting perfume, to me, it's more towards the floral fruity gourmand end. If you like Lolita, you might be found of this too.

At first, I don't detect cherry at all.
Scent is very juicy and sweet, almost sharp.
At start I feel citrusy rose and it stays with me about a hour - as I hate rose un citruses, combination of these two makes me sick. Then scent turns into fruity-flowery mix, which is a little bit chemical, but better than top notes.
I like drydown, then it's becoming smokey, sexy and edible. Combination of base notes would be great perfume for me, unfortunately, I'm not ready to wait a couple of hours to get that scent.

I had the chance to try this scent out.
I must admit I simply loved it ... it's so sensual and calm .... despite the fact it's not overpowering I got loads of compliments .... I wish I had a bottle of this great fragrance. :)

I love more this one every day.
It's sweet, really, but woody too.
This stars fruity but after some time turn to a odd oriental woody fragrance. I think In Black can be weared by men too because is nothing floral.

I like this fragrance! It's dark but warm and cozy.
I don't smell anything but cherry all the time. And in the very end - a little patchouli.

Tarya

I was surprised this spicy peppery (not even listed..)smell in the opening wich was so beautifully strong, bold, pleasant and sexy. I use to wear this a lot, this is a very lovely scent. Bottle matches also well with the perfume.

A splendid fragrance! Quite sweet and delicious.
It is really similar to Delices de Cartier but more clear and sophisticated. Delices is more insipid compared with In Black, therefore the latter is a better choice.

Dark, mysterious and profound, it fits special evenings and also adds comfort and warmth to cold winter days. I feel it suits black evening dress as well as winter trench coat.
It is one of my favourites!

I really love this fragrance. It's extremely mysterious and seductive.

It is one of the few... or I should say the first sweet fragrance I might end up liking (or just not hating as a start).
I find the cherries I nice change. There is a depth to it, yes but I don't see anything black... except for the bottle (which is absolutely stunning btw)
Its a little disappointing how it turn a little too gourmand when the vanilla gets through... reminds me of pastry.
Nevertheless if I can find out the right time to wear this one I might like it.

An amazing scent- I can detect moments of smell-a-likes as this fragrance develops on me. It starts off bold and spicy like Jean Paul Gaultier, goes through a vintage floral stage like Lanvin Rumeur, before settling on a warm, wintry patchouli scent like DKNY Delicious Night. There's also something very gourmand here which I can't put my finger on- it's either red berries or warm vanilla cake, but it's definitely sweet and edible. Grown up, dark, sophisticated and worth every penny.

for me one word:
Spectacular!!!

leonora84

It is a cozy and mystic scent, with a cruel synthetic edge. It has the scent of dark hair coluring ( think of dark red/ black/ purple tones) mixed with sandalwood and a faint fruitiness, and a delicate pepper shadow over all of it. It is like a nice cup of weird herbal tea with a good breakfast. I wear it not so often, I only have the 50 ml bottle, but I think I should wear it more. It is really special and delicate and strange to my nose.
UPDATE: I tried this in the morning with Lolita Lempicka on my right wrist, with In Black on my left hand. In black is more intense in its strange-ness:). But it is not so perfumey as Lolita. It IS bitter and dark on me, sweetness is only in the background. But I think that this could make every human skin a lot sexier. The only problem is, that one must really dare to wear it as an everyday scent. If I could "come home" at the side of such a fragrance like In Black, my life could be much more succesful. It is really not a well-known frag, and cheap, and so special. More braveness for me, please.

Similar to Cartier- Délices De Cartier EDP, but sweeter and lighter. Very special fragrance with amazing notes. I like it!

Just got this and I like it. I dont smell any licorice in this at all. I do however, smell the cherry, vanilla and patchouli. Dries down like cherry pipe tobacco. Kinda spicy in a way. Love the bottle with the atomizer! Lasting power is pretty good so far.

mmoni

The licorice note is too tiring for me - it gives the whole composition a tone of mouldy jam.
