Sharp, spicy, peppery, pachouli rose w/ an intensity atypical for Jo Malone. Dusky, mature, becoming more vintage in drydown. There’s a strange plastic under-scent, ever so slightly medicinal, a bit masculine. The magnolia is there, but not in her usual beauty; the other notes are messing w/ her song. All these chords don’t belong in the same symphony. Each individual note shape-shifts throughout, as though trying to remain relevant, failing to realize that teamwork makes the dream work.

The Rose, Black Pepper and Patchouli are very strong, the opening reminds me of Montale Rose Night and Stella but in a stronger version. Drydown for about half an hour is a bit more pleasant, I would say this is a dark, mature Rose for ladies over 25 years old.

Rose and pepper and pachouli, a combination I cannot say no to. I see the name rose and magnolia and expect this one to be plain floral, but it's not and that's good news to me. Like this scent but won't pay for a whole bottle.

I really enjoy this uncharacteristically deep, dusky offering from Jo Malone. Rose Magnolia a peppery, patchouli-heavy base with a dark, velvety rose as its heart. There's just enough magnolia to liven up what is otherwise a heavy scent, but I would't describe this as fresh or particularly youthful. It's a bit somber and wintery, appealingly so. It reminds me of Elizabeth and James' Nirvana Rose, an all-time favorite of mine, but Rose Magnolia is dewier and less dour. Like a lot of my favorite Jo Malone fragrances, this one feels perfectly unisex. I own too many woody, peppery roses to make this something I feel compelled to add to my collection, but I'm going to relish my sample while it lasts.

Definitely in my top three favorite Jo Malone scents of all time! It’s so gorgeous. I’d recommend trying it should you get the chance. It makes me happy to smell and it’s the perfect springtime/transition scent. It’s a youthful, happy kind of floral.

The rose is creamy, feminine, not so fresh and dewy, it is deeper. I like the pepper, which gives a slightly different sound in combination with geranium.

I must say I was so so excited when I read the reviews of this frag. I’m a big Jo Malone fan so I had no qualms about blind buying it. Unfortunately this fragrance did not end up smelling like the reviews had stated (at least on my skin). It doesn’t mean I don’t like it but if I had a chance to smell it before hand I might not have purchased it. I’m obsessed with rose perfumes but I can’t get a hint of rose. On me it is certainly not a rose scent or even a floral one.

On me the main notes that are expressed are the black pepper and patchouli. I absolutely love black pepper and it’s a great winter scent. The black pepper sticks around and projects very well. The patchouli note sticks close to my skin and if you were to put your nose to my wrist the patchouli smells a bit plastic-y on me (patchouli and I aren’t always on the best of terms). On the dry down I can somewhat smell the magnolia, magnolia can smell a little herby and “dirty” (not in a bad way) on me and combined with patchouli it ends up being a kinda hippie boho scent on me. But like a grown up professional boho girl. Like think hippie boho girl who likes essential oils and crystals but holds a corporate 9-5 job.

I love creamy rose scents and I was disappointed that it didn’t smell like that on me. Overall it’s a spicy, woody patchouli winter scent on me. Not bad but I wasn’t in the market for another winter scent, especially since JM velvet rose is my go to. Would love recs on what to combine it with to magnify or bring out the rose notes. Otherwise I’m thinking of selling it, since it’s discontinued I feel like someone who loves this should have it instead :) PM me if interested!

If you want something spicy and interesting to add to your collection (and don’t mind the notes listed) I’d say go for this frag!

This is creamy and full-bodied, much more than a rose scent. I wouldn't say this is a light fragrance - it's not fresh nor green. Magnolia gives it the fullness and a floral edge. On me it's quite potent and a little bit vintage - there's the sweet-spicy quality that gives me the vintage vibe (for context: I personally prefer smoky rose scents). Once magnolia subsides, geranium comes out to play. Settles into a rose-patchouli mix.

I am in love with this scent.... I only wish JM would include it in the permanent lineup! The opening is very soft, almost creamy, and as it dries down the rose becomes more prominent... as it stays on my skin a bit longer the musk becomes more forward. I love it!

I picked up a sample of this while at a JM counter in Bloomies the other day. Me and the SA were chatting like besties about all the frags we love and he told me there was a new release that he thought I would like and gave me this to sniff. He was right, this is right up my alley. I normally go for gourmand scents and got a sample of the Ginger Biscuit as well but this is rose so perfectly done.

The rose and magnolia are playfully holding hands walking down the street wearing matching leather jackets. I normally steer clear of gardenia in frags because it can come off a bit screechy on me but I love how the gardenia plays softly in the background. This is the perfect daytime, professional, inoffensive scent. As others have mentioned, Think Stella McCartney’s Stella, and Narciso Rodriguez for her with a dash of spice.

Victoria Regia

Smells as if someone added patchouli oil to the original Stella McCartney fragrance. In fact, it is very patchouli-forward at first. A bit medicinal, but clean. Mid to end is a fresh rosy floral. Gets muskier in the drydown. I'd say that the longevity is average for this brand. Strikes me as a formal, professional scent, but I've received unsolicited compliments from younger girls with a bohemian style when I started wearing it. Very in line with the brand's aesthetic. It's a like but not a love. A bit too musky and patchouli-heavy for me.

This is nice and fresh!....Poof! Gone.

I am not a huge fan of rose scents but this one has a wonderful balance of rose and magnolia which makes it unique and delightful. It is rose with a subtle twist that makes it feel modern. As far as marketing goes, I think Rose & Magnolia would have been better suited to a spring collection rather than Holiday. Nothing about this scent reminds me of winter in the way Orange Bitters does, for example. It does make me look forward to spring which may, in fact, be the intent of this release.

phrogfrau

this is soooo pretty! Very sophisticated and beautiful - reminds me of Stella EDT by Stella McCarthy and Hippie Rose by Heeley.

I had high hopes for this perfume after reading reviews and watching youtube videos. It was practically sold out everywhere in the shops. Luckily they had the testers available. It smelled rosy, soapy and a bit woodsy. Very generic and it kind of reminded me of clothes being stored in the cupboard for a while. Am glad that i had a whiff rather than blind buy.

reymax

I'm not a rose fan but this is lovely. Smells creamy, fresh rose. It stays beyond 5 hours on me but I also spray hair and clothes. Originally went for Orange Bitters which i now know i dislike! Rose Magnolia is a light inoffensive and very sniffable scent. Lovely.

snoopyQ

Fresh and spicy rose!
The amber deepens the rose and gives it more dimension while the magnolia is tirelessly working on keeping the amber from becoming cloying.
Now do not get me wrong here the rose is definetively the star and everything else is supporting the star.

Good longevity.

It does remind me of Narciso Rodriguez fleur de musc.

This is beautiful! This was really an impulse online order from JM site. I had planned on purchasing the new estee lauder limione scent but just wanted to make sure there was nothing new here.

I am SO glad that I chose to buy this one instead. I love citrus, rose, and white florals. What made my mind up is the cooler weather on the horizon. If I bought the citrus now, it would be a long time before I even could wear it.

This perfume is very universal. Smells much like ADP magnolia, but lasts longer and stronger sillage.

This is just perfect. I smell mostly rose and magnolia on my skin. Just lovely and it feels like it will be a winner in cold weather too.

KATHLEEN

A creamy rosey scent... not the usual loud rose scent but a floral fresh scent. I tried this with Poppy and Barley and it really smells great!

Nichapatk

Loveee it. Combine with Poppy and Barley will gave a new beautiful scent. Got a compliment from this combination today. The woman said I’m smell so good. Love it.

KitKat

It is beautiful and very potent. Not typical JM cologne. Spicy rose and wears so well. I just got it from Nordstrom. So far my fave rose from JM. Get it while you can.
