Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant by Kenzo is a Amber Spicy fragrance for women. Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant was launched in 1996. The nose behind this fragrance is Dominique Ropion. Top notes are Cloves, Cumin and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Cardamom, Caraway, Licorice, Mango, Ylang-Ylang, Heliotrope and Gardenia; base notes are Vanilla, Amber and Patchouli.

Kenzo Jungle was the name of the first Kenzo boutique in Paris. Kenzo Jungle follows two themes. Nature and flower, but the presented by Kenzo Jungle is a special, cyber-nature. This spicy floral fragrance was created in 1996. It opens with airy mandarin, fresh cardamom, cumin and clove. The heart unites ylang-ylang, licorice, mango and heliotrope, while the base wraps it all with patchouli, vanilla, amber and cashmere, which create intense and sensual trace.

Very original and interesting: the different spices take a different place in the nose according to their level of "heat", which gives the impression of having your nose filled with each sniff, but still managing to distinguish them all!

Greatly resembles the smell of chai tea latte, so very comforting and gourmand, but too realistic to be worn on the skin in my opinion, especially as the projection is very strong so risks disturbing others 😕

There's also a risk of nausea/headaches if worn in hot weather, but it must be very nice in winter.

Useful details : english is not my mother tongue and my opinions are copied and pasted from my personal notes, written on the fly after several phases of testing (tracking changes for several hours on blotters, then on my skin for a day).

Elyka21

Very complex and unique Oriental scent, well blended spices, bitter sweet, very aromatic, can be a little overwhelming on it's own depending on the situation but it always adds unbelievable dimension, beauty and depth to other vanilla based or soft spicy fragrances. Love it more layered than on it's own.

Sex in a bottle 🔥

LaNena

Very spicy and made my whole body feel warm and enveloped in the scent. That being said, this was the perfume that made me realize I cannot pull off perfumes with any amount of spice in them with my body chemistry. I didn’t smell any mango but it reminds me of the markets that have burlap bags of spices open and then scooped into small bags when you buy them by the gram. Unfortunately cannot handle the warmth this scent conjures up. Cutest bottle.

Princess__manatee

This is beast mode, I wore this around Christmas time and people followed me down corridors asking what perfume it was. This is a perfect December scent, spicy, warm and magical. Reminds you of drinking rum spiked hot chocolate at a Christmas market

addangel

lovely, yummy spice bomb! I smell like a Christmas market and I love it haha

MacabreLemon

I love this scent. I love the warm, spicy fragrance with a bit of bright orange and the floral that emerges after the first hour or so. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't like it as a perfume. He doesn't hate the smell, just doesn't like the smell as a perfume. So, I don't know how often I'll find a reason to wear it.

Dear Jungle L'Elefant,

(Edit, adding: I had sealed some tissues I had sprayed with samples. After some days I made a blind check if the characters are still there and if I can recognise which sample is what.
You are the one that stinks. Fecal. Never again!)

A whole long work day you have spent wafting on and around me - and many others - with an enormousness and lasting power I have never experienced before in a perfume.
(I had sprayed you at 7am and now it it 8 pm, and there is still so much of you left of these two spritzers on my forearms.)
And since I had found out that that you annoy me pretty soon after, I have been craving to come home to wash you off and change my clothes for many hours. Your intensity of the cloves is suffocating me!

However, you might have done me the favour of underlining a core character trait of mine: confidence and assertiveness. In a meeting with decision makers, you may even have helped me to feel strong, to feel unique and to make me feel "I'm allowed to have that opinion".

You are a powerful scent, and you can be appealing by your spicy sweet muddy uniqueness. You are certainly not elegant, nor clean.

If you were less intense in the cloves - and overall -, I could like you.

indiglo

Got this one several years ago as a blind buy, tried it a few times and found the cumin went too strong and funky on me. I really love cumin as a seasoning, but it wasn't sitting well on me, getting a BO type of vibe from it.
Well I revisited it today, and I'm getting a different read. There's more of a sweet (candy but deep) note that seems to be balancing out the cumin better. This one might be growing on me.

Bearfalling

Spice overdose, and creamy at the same time. I am amazed! Jungle L'Elephant is very unique, and I can see why it could be a polarizing fragrance.

Since my previous (negative) reviews were deleted, here it is, again:

I got a tester bottle, from ebay, and sold it in the next 3 days after the purchase.
It smells like the toilet deodorants from the malls. Exactly the same overwhelming chaotic smell, at the opening of this.
I had to wash my skin a few minutes after, I was too disgusted (the urinary note was all it was missing) .
Another over hyped perfume from the internet, gone back to be sold and was a happy camper I managed to unload it.

I ❤ Kenzo Labsolue, so obviously I expect I will like other Kenzo fragrances. I often read Fragrantica reviews, positive and negative. But nothing prepared me for this experience.
First I felt an explosion of spices, especially cumin. I had to open a window, it was so strong. Then it changed into cinnamon. But not the Khamrah cinnamon, but strong in your face cinnamon. I felt it till lunch and I had to change my Tshirt, as it was so strong.
I love cinnamon, but this was too much. It´s a no from me. Do try it before buying.

Got this for my girlfriend as a blind buy for her birthday. She's been wanting it for a while. Got it for a great price on FragranceNet, $45. It smells like a Christmas scented, spiced, incense stick. In a good way. Very warm with a sweetness to it like candy. Love at first sniff.

It's also very unisex. I sprayed some on me and it smelled a little more masculine mixing with my body scent. Smells great, very spicy, some cinnamon, cardamom, I think nutmeg maybe? I'm not smelling that clove top note everyone talks about. But the drydown is amazing. Still retains that Christmas spice but takes on a patchouli bottom note over time that reminds me of incense.

The bottle is very high quality. It's a little cumbersome, very wide. But a solid glass bottle a heavy aluminum cap is very nice to have these days.

I think they might've reformulated it over time because it doesn't have that insane longevity and projection other people talk about. It definitely radiates, I'll admit that. As for filling entire floors of buildings with scent like some people claim? Definitely not. It fills a room for the first few hours for sure, but nothing crazy.

The longevity is a bit lacking as well. Coming from someone who uses performance beasts like Y EDP and Savauge elixir, I expected a lot more after seeing the ratings here. It still lasts for a good part of the day, and projects decently enough... That's a lot better than 90% of women's perfume. But I was expecting something like Y EDP that you can tell on clothes after they wash and on your skin after you shower.

All in all, Kenzo has a great fragrance here. A timeless classic that I hope never gets discontinued. If you want to smell like a Christmas scented incense stick, this one's for you.

celi

I ordered a sample because I was just too curious... It really is a POWERFUL spice bomb. I can smell cloves and cardamom after spraying it 2 hours ago, and my 2 ml sample is closed in a plastic bag which is closed in a drawer. Definitely unique, not unpleasant but I find it hard to consider this a fragrance meant to be worn. If I was in a small room with someone wearing 2 sprays of L' Elephant I would probably start to lacrimate. More than that could be considerate chemical warfare

Beelike

I will never forget the moment I first smelled this timeless masterpiece, it felt like I experienced all the layers that human existence on earth could possible attain, all at once, it just shook me. I am at my 13th bottle, btw. It is one of the things that makes life worth living.

ZekaChi

A masterpiece!

I came here to say that and saw the same thing written just a few hours ago 😁 .
Well, what can you do - it is 🤩 !

WhoKilledCockRobin?

Wonderful strong perfume, exactly like others write.

I read a lot of hate about this perfume but I was so greatly surprised, when I tested it.

Strongest perfume ever, clove, cinamon, hint of mandarine in opening, everything perfectly blended and smells even day after.

Addictive scent.

30 ml of this is like 150 ml of another perfume.

My 30 ml bottle is nearly 3 years with me and still last 5 ml aren't not spoiled. It experienced too high and too low temperature, shaking during a lot of travelling..... and it's just altered, but still beautiful.

Suzanne loves Perfume

My signature, my favourite, my endless love.
Since the moment l first smelled this perfume l fell in love. Its intoxicating.
This perfume is a savage beast it takes no prisoners.
This perfume is not for everyone.
This perfume is not subtle at all.
This perfume will wake up your senses and blow your damn socks off!
It's a powerhouse scent.
This is probably one of the most powerful potions ever made, it's concentration is outstanding. She stands alone. There is no other like her. Literally no other. Maybe Estee Lauder Cinnabar or Youth dew comes the closest out of any other on the market or in history but they are more bitter scratchy spicy where this is creamy spicy.
I get why this perfume was given the Elephant as its animal. If you imagine a fragrance as a jungle animal the elephant is the largest and most awe inspiring force there is. Everything runs from the stampeding elephant its a force to be reckoned with like this perfume.
This oriental spicy dream is so strong l advise you test it on something you can throw away if you dont like it. If you spray its powerful scent on your skin be prepared for it to stick around for at least 24hrs even after a bath and on your clothes even after they've been washed. Oh and don't spray it on your neck straight after a bath, it's so strong it burns, not literally, but stings so bad your skin feels like it's burning! Many a time I've forgotten this rule in a rush and ran for the bathroom to fill my facecloth with cold water to hold against my throat and been left with bright red skin for an hour.
A paper trial is a must for a first time tester.
It's the middle east in a bottle, like walking through a spice market and all the spice fragrances pull your senses from one direction to another. The cloves are like a throat punch and the cumin and cardamom are prominent. The heliotrope Amber vanilla and floral composition turn the spice harshness to a soft sweet creamy spicy.
I've heard others describe it as a "Christmas candle scent" erm its quite a bit more complex and exciting than that huns! Way to turn a beautiful world class groundbreaking scent into a basic bitch. 😆 🤣 😂
As I've heard many say its one of those perfumes where even if you're not into heavy or spicy scents you can't help but like this. For many it's instant love.
I must praise the master / genius who created this Mr Dominic Ropion. I thank you sir for my favourite perfume. God bless you and your amazing nose and will to take risks potency and scentwise. Also to Kenzo for marketing it as it was and not asking Ropion to make it weaker to appeal to more sensitive noses. ❤️
This perfume will make you stand out from every other fruity flowery sweet and powdery woman around you. It's unique, nobody will know what it is and everyone will ask you. I've had strangers chase me down the street to ask what it is I'm wearing and where can they get it from? Only 1 person in 30 yrs has ever guessed what it was because their wife used to wear it. When you know, you know!
I will never be without a bottle of this ever, in fact l may demand that I'm sprayed with it for my funeral. I bet strangers will be gathered round my grave enjoying the Kenzo Jungle waft coming up through the soil and filling the air years after ive gone. 😆 🤣 😂
I used to wear this to college in the 90's and the students would know when I was in the building as soon as they walked into the place. They could smell this in the reception area all the way up the stairs and up 3 floors all the way down the corridors getting stronger the closer they got to our class, and l used to arrive much earlier than them. Its that strong.
Sooo... in conclusion this is amazing, if your not afraid of a savage beast perfume. It's also a beautiful bottle and it lasts a long time because with this, one spray really is enough. I use way more though, because I'm fearless like that. 😆 It gets sprayed all over my neck, shoulders, hair, wrists, clothes, l spray heavy because its so awesome and l dont care if it spices peoples brains out. I like to be wrapped in a cloud of expensive perfume and for those around me to smell a trail of my perfume, or what the hell am l spending all this money for, so l can hardly even smell myself? Hell no! I never understand why people think it's such a bad thing to have a trail of lovely perfume left in a room after you've left it. It's better than smelling people's farts, breath, dirty hair and sweaty bodies.
Yes indeed smell me London, inhale my fabulousness, you're welcome. 😆 🤣 😂
I give this perfume a 10/10.

sonasona

My Blind buy. And i love it. This is truly a legend. The longevity of the fragrance is truly endless. Beast mode😁 I bought 30ml. And now I know that I will buy 100 ml. I'm falling in love with the smell itself over time. from the beginning it fails really strangely. But according to the review, I was expecting something worse. I realized one thing. The scent is ideal for layering. Anything you layer on top of the scent instantly puts her in beast mode. it's magic❤️I'm really looking forward to trying the scent in spring and summer. It doesn't feel like winter or Christmas to me. In the summer it can be completely different.

clarissadarling

A festive Christmas toothache in the candle aisle at Marshall's.

Vicky_83 you have to make an effort and imagine that Jungle Ellephant is the best seller of all time from Kenzo and in Top 10 best selling perfumes in history, based in sold units. Briefly, it s a Legend.

Vicky_83

Okay, so I love “mature” fragrances. However, this is too mature and not particularly feminine either. This fragrance, as many have mentioned, is a clove bomb. I would call it a clove Tsunami actually. This smells identical to toothache drops due to the prominent clove note. I tried to give it some time to see if the dry down over time would be more pleasant. Unfortunately, the dry down didn’t yield any favorable results. I’m sorry, but I just can’t imagine anyone actually liking this fragrance.

carameg0727

It's not bad, it smells like cinnamon love heart candies on me. I would suggest you try this before buying.

BikiniSoTeeny

This is what I mean when I say maturity, but if it has one fan - thats me. Recognizable, from a million scents I wouldnt miss this one. European NY advent gatherings , Xmass spice blend, it warms me up in winter.

Iconic'80s

This was a blind buy for me and I was so hoping it would come to be a replacement for my beloved Cinnabar. I guess I don't understand the whole concept with this fragrance. The bottle is cumbersome and a strange shape, I don't think there is anything jungle-ish about it and I don't understand the elephant unless it's to indicate the scent's strength which to me is not that great.
It is not a beast to me, at least not in a good way. It isn't very spicy and seems sweet and creamy to me-very unlike the Cinnabar notes that I was hoping for which is clove, cinnamon, etc.
I do agree with others that it is reminiscent of a Christmas candle, albeit not an expensive one. I'll wear it on the weekends until it's gone, but I don't love it that's for sure.

Edit:
It's growing on me! I was even so bold as to overspray it today and I am getting it. I have tried a lot of new (to me) fragrances over the past couple of months and it is refreshing to put one on without the big, savory amber/ambroxen dry down that really bothers me. Thank god this is on my shelf. I'm sorry I was such a brat about it at first.
AND....I oversprayed it at 9 this morning and now at 12 its still going strong.

Anne57

Wow, this is a beast. Two sprays from a travel flacon and my first thought was the scene in the film Jumanji with the herd of stampeding elephants and rhinos that trample everything in their path. Twelve hours later, I still smell Jungle L'Elephant, although it has calmed down to a lovely warm scent. It does remind me of Christmas candles in the dry-down. But that opening is an olfactory atom bomb.

seventh

I love wearing this fragrance around Xmas. It is a perfect compliment for the festive season as it is so rich and vibrant

ingrid.superstar

I had this five years ago, but sold it; shifting tastes caused me to seek it out again, and I’m glad I did! Jungle l’Elephant used to strike me as a “Christmas candle” scent with an ultra-heavy ambroxan base gluing it down instead of grounding it. These days, I get a fascinating mix of cinnamon-camphor warmth (reminiscent of Tiger Balm), nutty cardamom, creamy tropical florals, and milky vanilla. I couldn’t detect anything floral in it before, and now I notice golden, syrupy ylang-ylang playing hide and seek with all the spices. Yet the biggest difference I notice now versus then is the presence of a fractalized patchouli note, smelling of wet potato skins, right after spraying. Earthy, creamy, warm-spicy. I’d wear this in warm weather as well, though it’s an obvious cold-weather grab. Facets of it remind me of both YSL Cinema and Initio Parfums Psychedelic Love. Always interesting, I don’t get tired of wearing this.

HannahRosesAreRed

In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight.

But the elephant NEVER sleeps.

Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant is aptly named. This is the elephant in the room. The most powerful of nature's beasts. This isn't a spice bomb. This is a spice tank. A juggernaut of warm, dry, spicy notes. It's a Christmas candle on the forest floor; the spice rack distilled in fluid form. It fills the radius with the wintry, pungent and earthy aroma of cumin, clove, cardamom and caraway, leaving a trail in its wake. It imprints its scent on everything it touches, with a half-life of hours, days, even weeks on both skin and fabric. Vanilla, the powerful queen of the perfume notes, is no match–she bows in submission, and her floral entourage soon follows. The fruity notes of mango and orange are content to be but mere participants in the elephant's majestic procession. Like its trumpeting cry as it echoes for miles, Jungle L'Elephant announces its presence–and that of its wearer–long before either can be seen.

The elephant is powerful. It can be ridden, but it cannot be tamed. It requires a strong rider. And alas, I am not worthy. I find that I cannot ride the beast. Perhaps it is something in my skin chemistry, or maybe it is my timid temperament. But alas, I do not ride the elephant. The elephant rides me. One spray and I was overpowered. I was overwhelmed, weighed down as though trampled upon by the mighty creature. Spicy notes are already tricky on my skin, and my own chemistry rendered them dirty, pungent and wild. But I cannot hate Jungle L'Elephant. You cannot hate an animal for doing what nature has intended. I am content to respect this magnificent beast, and admire it from afar.

Apply a light and gentle hand, lest the elephant go on a rampage.

Chanel de Lanvin

A perfume is not bought blindly, like clothing, and even then, we try it before buying it.
You have to find a sample, or analyze the coherent comments (rare things unfortunately) or project yourself through the components and find the agreements you are looking for.
I have a lot of perfumes that I buy like this because I don't always have the opportunity to get a sample, and so far I've never had a bad joke.

Neverapeoplepleaser

I thought I'd love this...but I absolutely hate it. Love spices. But this is sooooo acrid, bitter and just horrible on me. Do not get vanilla or any sweetness. Just dry and bitter. Can't believe its the same perfume as reviews left below! Left to macerate for quite a few months. Nope. Just no. Have a huge bottle aswell. Ooops.
I have since learned to not blind buy.

Amber Plokchouli

This just arrived and I’m so stoked! It’s been on my wish list forever! I knew that I enjoyed this scent a long time ago when trying it in store not too long after it came out (!), at the time it was a bit too mature and powerful to my taste. These days it’s not widely available in physical stores here, so it was a semi blind buy. I knew I would likely enjoy it, as I adore spicy scents, but it was still a bit of a gamble. I found it online for under €60 for 100ml, which is more expensive than my usual maximum price for blind buys of €35-€40, but a solid deal in a fragrance family that is safe for my tastes.

Let me start with the bottle. Since I haven’t really looked at this bottle since the late 90s or early 00s, I didn’t really remember what the bottle looks like exactly. From pictures I assumed that the glass bottle was a simple rectangle, but this is not the case. The bottle makes a beautiful, subtle wave, making it more playful and elegant. The matte gold cap is made of real metal and it’s quite heavy. It fits very tightly on the bottle. I think the design is stylish and elegant, but to nee the matte gold makes it look like it’s plastic when it’s not. I think brushed gold, brushed stainless steel or silver/chrome might have made it look more sophisticated, although it’s possible that they’ve tripped those options and the matte gold worked best with this design.

**THE JUICE**

As soon as I spray it, I recognise the scent, I don’t know from who or where, but I know I’ve smelled it many times before, and I instantly love it.

The opening mainly revolves around cardamom supported by cloves and cumin. It transports me to markets in India, with the scent of spices in the air. I don’t perceive it as particularly christmassy or wintery, probably because there’s no cinnamon, which is the main holiday spice imo.

In the heart the ylang and heliotrope come forward along with the licorice and the scent becomes softer. The longer it develops on my skin the more the vanilla and amber come forward as well, making it softer and softer. This is not sweet, but it’s warm and soft. It’s like the hug of an Indian aunt who spends most of the day cooking all kinds of wonderful Indian dishes. It doesn’t smell so much as a perfume, but as an experience. It takes you to a place, an Indian spice market.

While not listed in the notes I keep thinking I smell Anise, which I think is an illusion of the liquorice mixing with the other spices. It also has an incense-like quality. Not a smoky incense, but something like nag champa sticks fresh from the box, also triggering visions of India.

While this scent is wonderful for fall and winter, I believe it can easily be worn in summer too. To me this scent is more reminiscent of the hot bustling spice markets in India or the Middle East, than of the holiday season, and because there’s very little sweetness, it’s not as likely to become cloying as some other scents.

I’ve only received this about two hours ago, so this truly is my very first impression. I might come back to expand on this review if my opinion changes (or the scent once it settles a bit), or when I’m testing it in different seasons/weather (it is winter now).

ETA: The scent is not nearly as powerful as I expected, I’ve applied twice now to experience the opening again, and it’s not overwhelming at all. However I believe this is because the bottle was very cold when I received it earlier today. I suspect the scent will become much stronger once the bottle settles and warms up more.

Other things I’ve noticed.. the vanilla and spices together remind me of cookies once the vanilla comes through more.. not your typical sweet gourmand perfume cookies, but some sort of more hearty spicy cookie that only has a hint of sweetness. The vanilla is quite fluffy and very creamy, and really fills your nose, similar to the vanilla note in Mancera Vanille Exclusive (just the vanilla not the perfume), albeit less prominent and slightly less dense.

When I breathe in and out on the wrist I’ve applied this on it releases more of the mango and green notes, which does give it more of a jungle vibe. I am guessing that with added humidity and warmth in summer it may well turn into a simmering subtropical rainforest. There’s also something pine like and herbal this way.

ETA2:
After reapplying liberally multiple times, and turning up the heating more in the evening, I finally get the holiday season connotations. It now smells like gingerbread! I’m not sure if other people overspray, of if the juice will become a lot more intense over time, but this was definitely not a one spray result. I also still feel like the scent is more exotic rather than Christmassy, but the gingerbread is there. I’m surprised at how gourmand this actually is. While I did expect it to smell spicy, I didn’t expect it to smell this edible. I expected a spicy oriental in a seductive and sexy way rather than a soft, fluffy, comforting way.

Chanel de Lanvin

I struggled with it a little at first, but then I took to it very well.
I find it even closer to niche, even though it is sold to a commercial audience.
It's not a sweet perfume at all, a perfume is not bought by thinking about anything... but by experiencing it, by discovering it,and of course even less to clean your house 😅

yeldah

I blind bought this and I regret it so much. From the notes, I thought I was going to love this. I love sweet and spciy perfumes but this is not one. Sweet yes, but where the spice is I couldn't tell you.
White powdery toilet cleaner with a sweet, rotting mango underneath. Very like early Estée Lauder perfumes, like Cinnabar. 60s toilette and not in a good way. Dusty. Bitter palm leaf smell in the dry down, like rotting leaves.

I wouldn't even clean my house with something that smelt like this? HAd to scrub it off my wrist because the compost smell was too much for me.
Do not blind buy.

Jacquis

L'Elephant remains one of my most cherished perfumes to this day. I've owned this for years and I also have a back up bottle. Every year, I pull it out during the holiday season and those holiday spices are heavenly. I still only need one spray. L'Elephant is amazing on its own or layered to enhance a weaker perfume. One such combination is L'Elephant layered with Nebras to get a warm, spiced chocolate piece of heaven. This perfume remains a treasure in my collection and I am so happy to have it.

Titti Claren

I used to love Jungle l'elephant, long time ago, I bought recently a bottle of a new version, is possible something went wrong with this bottle because the fragrance
smells very alcoholic, sour and acid at the same time. What a pity...

rene.saller

Whoa! This is intense! I sprayed the back of one hand just once, and I can smell this coming off me in great thundering gallumphing sense-memory-inducing monsoons! A few minutes after I sprayed it, I felt transported back to my childhood, wandering the aisles of Pier One while my parents searched for hippie home accessories and the like. Along with the 1970s-era Pier One smell, those resinous woods and mysterious unguents, I smell something I never experienced back then but would have loved I'm sure: a vanilla-chai latte. Behind all that is a sharp, almost piney-aromatic smell that feels sort of Christmas candle, but not in a bad way. I smell the cardamom and love it; the creaminess also. The musks don't read at all animalic to me, but I don't have a vintage formulation, only the current one from a Fragrance Net decant, so I can't say. This reminds me a little bit of Le Parfum by Lalique, except where that one has bay leaf for the aromatic, this one has something woodier and more piercing. It's also a lot sweeter and creamier than Le Parfum, which is on the crisp, nongourmand side of the vanilla spectrum. I like it a lot so far, but I could see this being oppressive if oversprayed, especially in the heat. As it develops, the gardenia comes through, and it's intoxicating.

I find myself thinking, in a circular, unsatisfying way, about the perfume's name. I understand the allusion to Jungle, of course, but it's still a strange and far from obvious choice. As Kenzo was surely aware, the elephant isn't celebrated nearly as often as the big cats in the perfume world. Elephants don't strike most people as sexy. And yet they are noble, beautiful, intelligent, and highly empathic animals--and increasingly in danger of extinction. Maybe Kenzo meant to draw our attention to their rarity, a rarity reflected in this strange and enormous, intelligent, refined, and LOUD af perfume.

John C. Duboiz

Opens with heavy headache inducing spices fighting for attention, with cloves and cardamom standing on top. Then in the background an animalic musk holds everything together. Ultimately the cardamom reigns supreme with the animalic musk standing right behind.
As it dries down, it becomes more creamy, almost lactonic, with vanilla giving it a decent sweetness, reminiscent of Indian kulfi ice cream.
This is a very unique and artistic composition. Not for the faint at heart and definitely not blind buy safe. Exquisite and niche quality, but also quite a polarizing scent.
I can't really recommend this for any particular occasion, maybe winter holidays? Just make sure to go easy on the sprays if you will be indoors! This is powerful stuff!
Definitely not a scent for everyone, but I think every fragrance enthusiast should try this at least once.

thegoob

This is a strong like for me. The opening was an old-school clove and amber, then some slightly chocolate-y patchouli; well-composed, but nothing I haven't smelled before where spicy fragrances are concerned. Then, it didn't exactly change character, but it grew into a lush and slightly fruity warm spicy-- much less clove and very little patchouli, but more of a perfectly balanced cinnamon, cardamom and fragile mango scent. I tested this in cold weather, but I would love to see what happens when heat and humidity press down on the level spiciness just to encounter what note pops out. I can imagine it would turn very luscious, since it proved unexpectedly transformational and pleasantly surprising on first test. That said, I can see how it could fairly be compared to a "holiday candle"; the evenness of the notes and the lack of a real muskiness to it can call to mind a house scent rather than skin scent.

Wow this is really stunning. I read so many reviews before buying and it was nothing like I expected.
First I’ll say this really evolves a lot and I don’t mean to say it’s bad at first it’s just not what the final smell will be. So I can see how a lot of people hate it at first smell. You need a chance to understand the full evolution of the perfume before deciding.
The opening is extremely green smell which I think I’m perceiving from the clove and cardamom, but even more I’d say it smells like fresh cinnamon sticks. Yes, I agree it smells like an expensive soap likely from the Heliotrope. Very clean smelling to my nose.
As it evolves I get this beautiful licorice smell coming through, then finally the vanilla comes.
It’s a very concentrated vanilla, not sickly sweet.
When it finally dries the clove becomes sweeter and I can see how people say it smells like a Christmas Candle, but there is something very sexy about it. It’s hard to describe. It smells like the inside of an expensive candle store. You can pick up the main notes, but there are other things there I can’t quite place. Sometimes the drydown reminds me of the quality of angel by mugler due to the strong cinnamon/vanilla & patchouli combo. Very unisex to me!

It really starts to get sweet in the end. It just smells expensive and spicy/sweet like a Christmas decoration store.
Very happy I purchased this! The bottle is beautiful! The elephant is huge!

sofkaa

I had this in the 90s and loved it. Decided to buy the new formula and it smelt nothing like i remembered. "Empty", watery, unpleasant version that remotely resembled the original. Was able to get a vintage miniature from a former perfume collector and OMG. There you are.... a deliciois juicy superbomb. Superconcentrated. Half a drop on the skin is enough to last all day. Any more will be cloying. Once it opens up on the skin - a compliment getter. Also, people really enjoy it layered with Revlon Charlie White. Creamy freshness and spices go well together

sycomore85

I used to hate this perfume because the weird smell, however lately i found nowadays this kind of rare quality scent would be more appreciated than new launch fragrances that smell quite mass. If i could describe, Jungle L'Elephant is giving imagination journey to exotic places like Thailand where you can smell the essence of exotic plants and fruit with touch of incense. This is not for everyone, would suggest you to try it first before you buy

massimilianoinquieto

I have that type of cursed body chemistry that just eats fragrances. Within 3 hours, nearly every fragrance I’ve tried is gone. Not skin scent. Gone.

But Jungle l’Elephant is the rare outlier that sticks with me. To the point where I need to think carefully about the environments I’m going to find myself in while wearing it, lest I overwhelm people with my fragrance. Two modest sprays is the absolute max I’d use, and even then only if I was going to be somewhere outdoors. I can spray this in the morning, and come evening, it’s still there, softer and closer to be sure, but still commanding a presence.

The smell is a spicy oriental. I don’t get any of the floral others have noticed. Lots of clove and cardamom. Patchouli at the end. A vintage smell to my nose- none of the sugary hyper girlish notes that so many modern fragrances give off to me. This is a fragrance has presence and commands respect- in the way being around an elephant does, I imagine.

This is a great fall/winter scent. Spicy, warm, and interesting enough to keep your attention during long dark winter days.

Azisai-

Perfect fall fragrance. I hate to be that girl but it really makes me think of pumpkin pie or a chai latte, it has those cozy, delicious spices that make you smell edible but it still has some grounded florals to keep it smelling designer and nuanced. It’s not exactly spicy and powerful in the empowering designer way, but it’s unusual and smile-inducing once it’s dries down a bit.

Makes me think of a dreamy fall day at a pumpkin patch with your best friend, running through a corn maze and drinking hot cider while sitting on a haystack. It’s even better when you feel the wind rush through your hair and you can smell the chai-latte, vanilla like scent. Comforting, warm, and memory invoking. If you love spicy vanilla scents you won’t regret this once!!

And I personally love the bottle. Cute little elephant :)

All day long Beautiful Fall scent

Gypsy G

Thinking ahead to the colder days, I got my elephant bottle in the summer. I shyly dabbled in it as couldn't wait and already liked it back then. I mostly picked up a lot of licorice and more of the fresh spice. But then autumn arrived, the temperature dropped, my throat got a little scratchy and I was craving something warm and uplifting. Oh my goodness, I got just that and more. After sitting for a while, the scent got softer, warmer, rounder and it just sits beautifully on my skin and around me all day (2-3 sprays). It is powerfully enveloping, but not harsh or intruding. As much as I love my candles, I wouldn't compare it to one. For me, it's a gorgeous fairy dust of an amazing spice blend with just the right amount of sweetness.

silenthedges

As a teenager I worked in a small local perfume shop. Any time a customer tried Elephant I got a horrible headache that didn’t leave until the next day. While I don’t necessarily hate this perfume, this perfume sure hates me.
This never happened to me with any other fragrance.

Eve_evolution

Very spicey with some brown sugar. A bit plain and not too complex. I liked it in the 90s as it was a novelty back then to be so spicey and sweet.

lauravladelena

It smells like a medicinal tea with a bit of brown sugar in it. I feel a lot of cumin and cardamom when I smell this and there's something about this that makes it nauseating for me. I think it might be the licorice undertone that I honestly don't like at all. I appreciate the novelty and the bottle is beautiful but not my cup of tea.

scatteredshowers

Christmas candle was a good description, and I do mean that in a positive way. I love Christmas candles. I ordered L'Elephant early this summer, smelled it, and promptly put it up on the shelf to save for a colder day.
I'll probably come back and add more thoughts after I've worn this more than once, but all I can say for now is WOW: this shit smells like gourmet vegan Smarties from a hippie supplement shop. Spicy, tart, fruity, sweet - I think it's the cardamom that makes it feel so edible, that and the vanilla. I wish I'd just gone ahead and gotten a big bottle instead of a miniature. I love it already.

seventh

What a beautiful perfume to wear it at home. Yes, it is beautiful, but its strength and notes are not suitable for this day and age. I still wear it, but only when I am alone, or going out on a snowy, cold winter day.

Fruit-chan

I love this. It's addictive.Although it does have that air freshner Christmas candle and a bit of fermented sausage smell to it,its very sweet warm and spicy oriental that still makes it very pleasant.
Longevity and projection is lacking on me unfortunately. Its not extreme as others describe it.
However it is wearable and I will show it love this time since I repurchased it.I had decluttered it in the past.

Tembacat

Absolute bomb of an opening. This is a powerful and spicy scent. It may just be the power of suggestion, but I definitely get the "gentle giant" vibe they are going for, from the strong spices contrasting with the soft flowers and wood. Wearing this, I feel like I should be sitting in the middle of a forest grove, communing with nature. I love this but have no idea when I would wear it. It's the sort of thing I would wear at home when the mood strikes, but not out and about. Well-executed concept.

Bangabanga

This makes me smell like a spicy marshmallow and I love it.

Delighted that I don’t get any cumin.
Not getting any patchouli, either, but it’s vintage and who knows how it was stored, etc.

Foxzilla

What an interesting and beautiful scent. I'd been putting off trying this bc I was worried it might be too in-your-face, overwhelming, and suffocating, but after finally taking the plunge, I'm so happy I got this. This is way softer and more graceful than I was imagining. And the evolution of it is so fun!

Upon first spray, I immediately get spicy, creamy white flowers. Like gardenias on a hot summer day, with someone smoking a clove cigarette in the background. As it develops, the clove comes forward, and its presence brings with it the mango, mandarin, and ylang-ylang. It's gives off a lovely "Christmas spices mulling on the stovetop" vibe. In the drydown, the clove fades into harmony with the other notes and settles nicely into a blend of warm vanilla, clove, gardenia, a hint of simmered orange, and a whisper of powdery ylang-ylang.

I definitely see why it's called L'elephant. This might be the "roundest" perfume I've ever come across. Absolutely no sharpness here, and it has a commanding-yet-gentle presence. The scent picture brings to mind the magic of spotting a majestic elephant while on a hike thru the lush jungle (as opposed to seeing a rampaging elephant tear thru the brush while on a safari tour, like I was originally picturing). To me, Kenzo Jungle L'elephant is quite in line with many of the 90's classics and their style of sweet, fluffy glamour, and I'm so glad we still have this in circulation.

jocing

Very strong and very spicy aura. Not for everyone.
I get most of the spice and strong patchouli when I sniff closely. Is very sharp when you bring your nose closer. You can't get any fruit or flower with a close distance.
When you move your body, some dry fruit scent do appear but very mild.
0 sweetness, is very dry and powdery scent.

This can be great for layering your perfume.
I tried to layer with Crystal Noir EDP, smell gorgeous with the L'elephant.
Might try a few option to match this. Can be very interesting.

About the bottle, the juice color and the elephant cap bottle is stunning.
Too bad this match with a square bulky body glass. Body glass shape can be better.

GastonThem

I have two bottles, one from the 90s and the current one. To be honest, this must be the only one perfume that smells exactly the same despite the reformulations. Great for Kenzo!

sandybony15

I am French Caribbean and this fragrance feels like home. It reminds me of the kind of dessert we serve in Martinique and Guadeloupe. This is thick, warm. It can definitely be worn in warmer climates but should not be over-sprayed as this fragrance can surely become sickening .

I am more into niche / luxury fragrances and if I had not been recommended that fragrance by another Fragrantica user, I would have never tried it.

dexilio

Christmas in a bottle! Stunning scent with great performance. Right in the middle unisex. This definitely will pierce through the cold, but I also think it can be worn during the hotter days. The fleeting tropical fruity and floral scent comes out between the different spicies makes it spring and summer appropriate. The sweetness is light, too. Dominique Ropion has done it again and again. Side note, Kenzo and Cartier are probably the most underrated designer houses out there.

Joss007

Unique and captivating! All these spices enhanced with fruity and vanilla notes seduce me. The bottle is pretty, but bulky. I was reluctant about the cumin and caraway, but it's skillfully balanced with cardamom and floral notes. What originality!!! The first dominant note is really that of clove.

autumnjoy

First impression of this perfume was that it was much softer and soapier than expected. I hardly get any clove, but I have Musc Ravageur to compare it to. I think the mild soapiness is from the florals, which were very unexpected at first but they’re so well blended (of course, it’s Ropian) that I grew to like it. Because of this, it is definitely going to be a spring/summer scent for me. I have much spicer perfumes for winter and fall. It actually smells like a spicy Carnal Flower without the musk and the vegetal undertone, and for my nose (and wallet) I prefer L’Elephant. It’s so light and airy, a perfect warm weather spiced scent for those of us who gravitate toward cold weather frags.

sky76sky

Performs like a spicy niche on a budget price.

I have a lot of love for this 90s spicy powerhouse. Luckily it smells similar to how I remember it & performs reasonably well. In a blind sniffing I would believe it was high end & it is definitely a love it or loathe it scent.

It is ALL kinds of spice. Deep, vibrant, resinous & in your face. The cloves take centre stage but it’s not your average Christmas scent. It is unique & chaotic & absolutely fabulous. Even the dry down is a deliciously bonkers cardamom vanilla. There is warmth, but low, mellow sweetness. There is dry spice tempered with rich, dried peel. This is the kind of fruit cheese or chutney you’d pair with a particularly funky blue cheese. It’s bold, unabashed a real trip.

Bland is boring. Elephant is bold & bonkers. Absolutely adore it.

RoxannaVonD

This is such a classic! I discovered this fragrance trough my mom, since she owned the original bottle in the 90s. I am usually fond of oriental, sweet and gourmand fragrances, so I knew I would love this one as well. This perfume was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! When you first spray this fragrance you instantly get hit with this sweet, almost honey-sweet cumin and cardamom note. It almost reminds me of those spiced Christmas cakes you eat during holidays. The smell slowly progresses into a fruity mandarin note which is so nicely blended with the spices. I also get just a hint of mango in there. The drydown is a classic vanilla scent. This is definitely a love or hate type of perfume, not for the faint of heart. The price is reasonable in my opinion. This scent leans more feminine. If you are a fan of sweet and spicy oriental perfumes, you should definitely try this out!

ipuks3

Burvīga. Manuprāt saka taisnību, vai nu tu iemīlies vai ienīsti šo aromātu.Rudens, ziemas mēnešos lieliski sasilda, karstos vasaras mēnešos nedaudz smacē. Der gan viens pšiks dienā gan divi,trīs pšiki vakarā.

GabrielleeeeeW

What an interesting fragrance. It smells like Christmas but would be equally appropriate for hot, balmy weather. It opens sweet with the orange, but dries down spicier. One time I wore it, I got tons of cinnamon and clove (like cinnamon gum). Another time the cumin was overtly strong and it gave it a savory food smell. It's exotic, unique, and like no other fragrance I've encountered before. It's also incredibly strong - both in projection and longevity. Great powerhouse and really is underpriced for what it is, it feels very niche.

Frankly B

Every kind of spicy: soft spicy, sharp spicy, cinnamon, ginger, clove. It’s very arousing, to the point where it might be difficult to sleep. Smells very nice, but like nothing so much as a good stick of cinnamon chewing gum. Might be great for layering. I like it. But it doesn’t exactly make you smell expensive.

creamyandlight

Smells very Indian. Like you just walked into a shop of Indian-import wares owned by a white hippie who loves incense (not like an actual Indian grocer). Quite intense

Kateri81

This is one of the most amazing summer fragrances. Liquid gold and spices. Warm skin, sand, sweat and sunset. Best suited for hot summer nights, star gazing and kissing under the night sky.

DiscoPolga

Sticks around for HOURS, great longevity. The fragrance is a mix of spicy clove and sweet licorice, I was surprised that cinnamon isn't listed. I thought this would be really outdated but this could easily have been released in 2023.

AMMILLER

I love it! It smells like fall, Christmas, unburned clove cigarettes, and comfortable house smells. It lasts all day and made the teller at the bank sneeze lol; but I love it.

alKaori

licorice/clove dominates so if you are not a fan of either of those aromas you most likely won't be into this. i am not and am not. luckily it's only a travel size.
edit -- even though i don't care for this scent due to the heavy clove, i can tell this is well made and will likely try more from kenzo at some point.
edit2 -- a recently sampled "mystic oud" by oakcha seemed to me like a toned-down sort of this scent only wood-smokier...

nyrvelli

A warm spicy embrace. Smells like luxurious winter holidays. My first ever perfume and I am still in love with it many years later. It's quite heavy, so a little goes a long way.

HollywoodNovaBaby

I was afraid this would be so spicy it’d be hard to wear. It’s definitely not hard to wear! At first I got a mixture of vanilla and a lightly mentholated clove. I’m glad the vanilla is as forward as it is. The spices are light, not opium level. Kind of reminds me of the spice in Ivory Route, almost creamy. I’m digging it.

margaritatee

Whole Lotto Ylang-Ylang, but more: like i'm in --yes-- a jungle, but down on the forest floor with my nose under a tree root where someone stashed their spice collection. I think it's the licorice that creates space/sharpness, stops everything from becoming dank and dark. Very interesting layered situation. Clove stands up in the drydown. I agree with 'cinnamon raisin toast' as described below. I would follow someone home who smelled like this.

Deusamar ciriano

Kenzo jungle elefante compatilhavel pesada especiada doce viciante amo isso nota de cravo da índia evidente.
Fragrância com cheiro único

BlackAmberMoon

I get the whole cold weather/holiday comments, but for me, this fragrance comes alive in the warm months, when it can breathe and move in the breezes. There is a tropical vibe that just sings in warm weather. I've been wearing this for 20 years and will always have a bottle. It's so addictive, strange, amd wonderful.

aicwilo

the amount of different spices makes me disoriented and confused. i dont think this is a well blended perfume, definitely not classy and unfortunately i dont see the appeal:(

SilkyWoods

It’s so strange and that’s what I LOVE about it. Truly unique, every time I wear it I get the whole experience!

Ronett

The smell of cloves is what makes me dislike it

silthrill

This is one of the best perfumes I’ve ever smelled- I agree with prior comments that this is better than many niche brands. It’s an experience throughout the wear- the opening is a blast of spice (it literally makes me sneeze, lol). But, as soon as the cloves and cardamom settle, the magic starts to happen (this is like 2 minutes after spraying so the gratification is fairly instant).
What a beautiful composition of spice balanced out with creamy ylang ylang, juicy mango, powdery heliotrope, and subtle vanilla.

It’s just gourmand enough to smell playful and delicious, but not at all overly sweet. I agree that this smells like a chai latte (with a little fruity component from the mango). This is what I wish Gris Charnel smelled like.

Nice projection and performance; I don’t find it to be as “beast mode” as other reviewers. It’s a very likeable scent, not offensive despite the notes, safe for a crowded room or the office. Leans feminine but could work as unisex.

ANNA_KISELEVA

Bright, spices over the edge👌

I heard "thick ginger" at the very beginning.
I would say that this is a Christmas punch😋 Sweet-spicy and very harmonious

MIRACLE of Ropinion💘💔

Lovaloo

This is better than most of the niche releases I've tested and it's also something like like 1/5th of the price, haha. I guess the bottle is a bit strange but the juice inside is well worth it.

Jungle L'Elephant is a deep, sophisticated bomb of dried fruits, holiday spice, and powdery woody vanilla. A low calorie gourmand with a quiet woody floral background, I think it most closely resembles the smell of cinnamon raisin bread. It smells savory and delicious and it can be enjoyed by anyone, male or female. This has quickly become a personal favorite, I see why it's so loved by the Fragrantica community.

I think it's distantly related to Ropion's Dune and the explosive Samsara, but it takes more obvious inspiration from Chanel Coco (also has a delicious raisin-y touch) and Feminite du Bois (woody cinnamon and dark berries). I love this, it's such a standout in the landscape of perfumery. I hope it is not discontinued for a long time.

suzanne_ronald

Beautiful & Terrifying. A bold CARDAMOM bomb, this vintage-y amber spicy scent featuring a heatlhy dose of yellow florals is for the seekers of beast mode scents. A burst of cardamom and other spices (mainly clove) opens up and continues throughout the tropical yellow floral heart and amber-patchouli base with gingerale touches. A little goes along way, and personally the right amount for me is one spray to the back of the hand, and once dry followed by washing with soap and water and then swamping with olive oil. Applied this way I get something vaguely reminiscent of Coco EDT Chanel. One spray gives me an experience similar to the time I accidentally added too much cardamom essential oil to a candle I was making.

Contrast to Matsuri Annayake:
While these have been compared, I find them very different. Matsuri is more yellow floral forward, way less spicy and an easier wearing experience. But I do get a gingerale vibe in both of these.

Contrast to Coco EDT Chanel:
These are very different, although I get a gingerale vibe in the base of Coco EDT as well. Coco EDT is spicier than Matsuri but less spicy than Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant. Refined noses are likely to prefer Coco EDT Chanel which has a sophisticated vibe in contrast to the boldness of Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant.

Overall: a beast mode performer and bold statement, this is the perfect scent to wear as a healthy outlet for rage or intense passion. For what it is, it's a love for me. Enjoy!

morphoevgenia

It is intriguing in the beginning thanks to spices, but after it settles it becomes a Peruvian balm. Something that I can tolerate but don’t understand how it can be chosen for the smell alone. Very curious piece of history.

CatPeople

For some strange reason it instantly reminded me of Italica and the unpleasant feeling I experienced after smelling it.

Airwrecka

Opening is soapy cloves and the dry down is just generic, soapy, dated, perfumey floral and patch… and so strong I can taste it too. Its a pitty, I was so intrigued by that super spicy first few minutes until it settled and got weird. It smells great from the bottle and when hanging in the air after spraying, as soon as it touches my skin it turns revolting unfortunately. Big nope from me.

Tony Shades

Rich heavy beast mode sweet spicy vanillic fragrance, not for the faint of heart. It does NOT have funky notes like body odor Caraway/Cumin or nasty Cloves as the notes breakdown suggests. The only problem one might have with it is the actual intensity.

ruxela

My absolute fav! Love it for so many years!!!!

XKDEC

My forever number 1

ingrid.superstar

No one will ever be able to say about Dominique Ropion, "He didn't use enough cloves." See also, POAL.

feinanna

For me this odor is India. It; s like visiting India without actually going there. I feeel lactonic notes in it. It smells like Indian tea made outdoors by a street vondor: tea mixed withmilk and boiled with spice. This is absolutely unique, and nothing can be compared to it.

FutureKiwi

The Elephant is a king of the jungle and it's a pretty tough animal - either you wear it or it wears you. Sadly the second is my case, I am being worn by it, desperately trying to survive on an Elephant rodeo. It is due to skin chemistry issues & lack of balls... but I am circling around it with curiosity, don't want to give up. Because when I spray it on a piece of clothing it reveals this blissful, divine heliotrope burst. What a warm hug, a comfort in a bottle! Cloves, cardamon, vanilla - it is there indeed- but the heliotrope stands out so beautifully, no other perfume I know can make this tiny violet flowers truly shine. Do you know it blooms at summer nights only? I am a heliotrope fan, that is why I respect Elephant so much and try to approach if from different angles. I think some day my skin chemistry will change and I'll be able to enjoy it on a larger scale. For sure this is a legendary perfume, a classic that you need to acknowledge if you are into olfactory world.

meliecat

There's a lot wrong with this fragrance for me - first of all I already smelled its cheap alternatives everywhere so by the time I met the real deal all I could do is roll my eyes and say 'Oh please..'
Second: it's horrible on me from start to finish. The best part is probably the first stage of drydown when it smells like some kind of a strange green-herbal powder..
Third: I think this somehow reminds me of Carner Black Calamus, Gucci Rush and Cabochard at the same time, but the worst combo of these 3 possible..
The bottle is lovely and I'm still wondering if there's anyone out there who can actually pull this off.. Not for me anyway.

Phantomias

I had such hopes for this one ... JLE is a fragrance in beast mode, an elephant maddened by musth. The spices overwhelm instead of envelop, the cloves are too sharp, reminding me of a visit to the endodontist. JLE is labeled for women, but IMO this is a very masculine fragrance. Whatever my expectations were, this scent can't meet them. I expected something rich and warm and got cold and brittle instead.
The presentation is lovely.

Fragnant

Oh man. I freakin love this. It’s like a warm comforting god mother from the dead but when she was alive, you knew she was a mu-f**king star. Only sigmas can pull this off.

svetlana_knyazeva

Unique. A true masterpiece. One of a kind (but not for everyone).

This is a warm and enveloping spice bomb, which can be overwhelming at first, give it an hour and it turns into this soft cinnamon hug, a chai latte pillow that you can’t get enough of.

I hear a few people get Christmas associations with and suggest this is a winter fragrance. I actually cannot use this in winter, it’s too overwhelming.

I would strongly suggest to try this in summer, and specifically on the hotter days (or maybe on a tropical holiday, somewhere in the jungle!). The way this fragrance acts at high temperatures makes it an amazing holiday/adventure fragrance. All the spicy notes melt together and actually become a lot softer in the heat - please do try this in summer!

Nimu

Beautiful scent but as a candle or an air freshner, not a perfume.

GrenadeGirl

The opening of this one is a full on spice bomb!!! I would say it is truly polarising and will be a proper love / hate fragrance, it is utterly enormous and you just can't hide from it anywhere!

For me, I absolutely LOVE it! Def a cold weather vibe, but it has the most comforting spicy, sweet hug, even when fully dried down. I can pick out most of the notes, it is a beautiful blend, and the dry down still has a pretty unique smell.. which I like, because on me SO many scents kinda end up smelling the same.

It may be an old one, but it is still so relevant today - I did find it very familiar though, so I suspect I have been unwittingly drawn to it on others for some time now.

Highly recommend a sample due to the uniqueness and strength, but it is DEFINITELY worth a try!

mamoudaki

My mom's all time favorite, very strong scent especially if you have a sensitive nose. I get a strong cumin scent that is surprisingly sexy while being possible Unisex if ur confident enough. I have a love hate relationship with it cuz I don't like spicy scents besides pink pepper notes. If u smelled it and liked the scent, definitely worth it, it's a powerhouse of a perfume. Kenzo knows how to make good ass quality perfumes damnit💅

Mamatutuboys

This is an unusual fragrance, but it was very familiar to me. After several days of wear, it hit me. It is almost the same as The Body Shop's Vata pillow mist and body oil. About 20 years ago, TBS took a foray into Ayurvedic dosha balancing and Vata was one of the results. This product was meant to help someone whose Vata was out of balance if I remember correctly...cardamom... Indian spices... Does anyone else remember these? There were Kapha, Vata, and Pitta. I still have a bottle of the Pitta oil spray (a minty, chocolate-type vibe.)

srimati

A spice bomb for sure and beast mode, also tends to lend a little on the masculine side, which I don't mind, but definitely a unisex fragrance. Excellent silage and lasting power. You have to like spices to enjoy this perfume, overall, a good buy IMHO, different from what Kenzo has presented.

AgenticaBond007

This is hands down my favourite and signature scent for over 20 years. I think I bought gazillion bottles of this since highschool. Pure spicy masterpiece.

miewtje

This beauty just arrived earlier this week. It is different from anything I own. The first time I sprayed this, it heavily reminded me of karma by lush, even though the scent is entirely different the overall vibe is the same. Where karma smells like the inside of a sacred temple where insence is lit. Jungle smells like a photo realistic spice market. After the dry down when the licorice, cumin and other spices have settled it smells kind of like a Christmas scented candle..wich sounds bad but it's a rather good Christmas scented candle. I love it, it's very unusual, very cozy. I accidentally layered this with kenzo amour the other day and that turned out great for those who want to try! The longevity isn't exactly beast mode on me :(. Could be because the fragrance still needs to breathe a little or my standards are just impossibly high nowadays longevity wise. I own a vintage bottle of YSL Opium, Coromandel Edp and two francesca bianchi perfumes. These are my latest purchases and their longevity is out of this world. They kind of set the bar for me, I don't know if that's fair speaking of beast mode. So I would say longevity, meh 4 / 5 hours? 3 hours out of 5 the scents projects no more I think but maybe it's too early to judge. Anyway don't let it stop you. It's delicious!

NOT a blind buy! I just wanted to try something different, but big error for not reading about it before buying it (at least only 30ml). I wish I knew someone who loves it, because I will just put it apart for the whole life - not my thing all these spices and smells.

LSAUG

I was scared to blind buy this perfume even though it is so beloved by many here in the fragrance community and it looked like something I would really love. I was scared off because of cumin and caraway. I don't care for either spice in food. I also have had bad perfume experiences w/ both spices. That being said a nice perfume friend that I met here sent me a sample of this iconic perfume and I have to say I am very, very glad she did! Kenzo Jungle Elephant is a beautiful spicy powerhouse. It opens w/ a mildly sweet mandarin orange but then the spices kick in and it is all about cloves. As I smell this, I am finally getting into the holiday spirit, which has been late coming to me for some reason this year. As the fragrance develops more, I get a creamy gardenia, vanillic heliotrope w/ slight cherry pie nuances, a bit of ripe mango, licorice, this reminds me of my Grandmothers mince and cherry pies she made for the holidays. She was a wonderful woman and though she has been gone for more than 33 years I still miss her and think of her every day. This perfume takes me right back to her kitchen and I am 10 years old again. Her powder and perfume mingling w/ all the cooking spices, bottles of vanilla and ripe and dried fruits. She also loved licorice jellybeans and ate them all the time. She always smelled wonderful, the best of both worlds perfume and food! This perfume is bringing back good memories for me, Christmases spent at my Grandmother's house. If you want a beautiful spicy floral scent that will get you in the mood for Christmas look no further than Kenzo Jungle Elephant!

This is a powerhouse. Nothing can't beat this power bomb. Smells intricate. Ultra spicy with bits of vanilla. Immediately makes me think of India. In my imagination this is how it smells on Indian street markets. Two mini-sprays are ultra sufficient for a sensible nose like mine, also I have compassion for people around me lol. You either love it or you hate it, no middle ground with Jungle. I love it and I hate it on turn, depending on the season. I prefer to use it in very cold weather, so winter it is.

msamber86

This starts with a blast of warm vanilla. It’s like a caramel vanilla. It mixes beautifully with the cardamon and reminds me of Indian sweets. Occasionally I get spice and fruit but both are general instead of specific.

The first hour of this is a vanilla dominate scent with a touch of spice. It would be perfect for winter months.

After about an hour the mango starts to come in and this becomes a fruity, spicy, and warm scent. It’s pretty comforting. I should mention that this is a pretty spicy scent. I love that but if spice isn’t your thing then I don’t recommend it.

I will need to try this scent during the hotter months because others have said it brings out more of the tropical fruit smells. I love the idea of a fragrance giving you completely different profiles depending on the temperature and both profiles being really good.

Violinplayah

My favorite for 20 years. First wearing of the Christmas season and I love it just as much today as I did the first time I wore it. Sweet, spicy, Christmas in a bottle!

strawberryswitchblade

I‘m on the fence with this one. I blind ordered it based on the reviews here and expected something that reminds me of Christmas or smells like Indian chai (which I make from scratch and drink almost daily in the colder month). This perfume smells nothing like chai or Christmas. Its straight up an old wooden cabinet filled to the brim with every exotic spice under the sky. A bit scratchy, a bit bitter, a bit harsh, a bit loud. Or a giant spice elephant, so to speak. I don’t get any milk or vanilla notes that would perhaps make this scent round and pleasant. Also, there are no discernible notes of cinnamon or ginger which would qualify this concoction as christmasy or chai-ish. Its just an exotic spice mumbo jumbo. I‘m not hating it, on some days I even really like it but its just not for every occasion, or weather, or even outfit. On clothes it is a monstrous beast and stays forever. On skin it is gone within 6-8 hrs. In order to make it a bit more versatile and enjoyable (for myself at least) I layer it with CSP Vanille Extreme. That way it turns into some sort of spicy vanilla ice cream

Kenzo Jungle L'Éléphant is a great modern oriental - fruity and spicy but with a fizzy airiness that feels more wearable and current than Opium et al. The bottle is a work of art. I first encountered Jungle as a《 jeune-fille au pair 》in France. The mother had a well-chosen collection of perfume on display in both bathrooms (not best practice for perfume storage, but that's another story). I was drawn to Jungle in particular thanks to its pleasingly heavy, organically-shaped rectangular bottle capped with a marvellous gold elephant lid. The pale gold liquid inside was an instant love for me. I recently acquired a noughties-era miniature, and the memories flooded back. It is a sophisticated but fun spicy scent, rich but translucent, composed with a surprisingly light touch.

Jungle opens with a warm, spicy-orange accord that deftly avoids pot pourri or Christmas associations. Instead, cloves and a clever use of cumin hit my nose, like a shop that sells an array of Indian spices. Peppery cardamom lifts it, and orange adds a zesty edge. It is an excellent spicy accord - unusual and evocative yet wearable.

As it develops, sweet plum and mango round out the fruitiness, adding a fresh, tropical edge. Sweet spices emerge - soft anise and aromatic caraway (I had a memorable caraway ice cream once!) blend seamlessly with the fruity notes and opening spices. Hazy heliotrope adds an almond-like undertone, tying it all together. There are some soft florals in the background too.

The drydown is woody and warm, with subtle vanilla adding sweetness and a pinch of patchouli adding earthiness. There is an amber effect to the late stages of the drydown, which, together with the spices, is a nod to classics like Opium or Coco. Sillage is strong and longevity is day-long. Best worn in autumn/winter.

A timeless, ageless modern oriental, Jungle is an elegant yet relaxed spicy scent that is easy-to-wear yet has a distinctive personality. Light-hearted but no less brilliant for it. Joie de vivre in a bottle. 4.5/5.

kiaoi

A beautiful mix of Indian spices. It’s straight away cloves, cumin and cardamom, a warm chai mix that tickles your nose. I just reviewed Pacifica’s Tibetan Mountain Temple and they are very similar, although this one is softer and smoother, less sharp. The bottle is beautiful, a showpiece especially in the 100 ml size. I read this is great for hot climates, I will try it next Summer although this smells so Autumn-y to me!

Anosmia11

If you live in a tropical country (like me), use this in summer months and you would know what the creator of this perfume meant by “jungle”. It performs much better in hot temperature with humidity, but it smells like chai tea in winter nights. I think it was inspired by indian summers.
Also, don’t wear this in closed space. It is not meant to be restricted.

LadyPilot

This is my update review.
Today I've had genuine Indian curry for dinner (from a Hindu restaurant). Trust me - never before did the cumin/anise notes in Kenzo Jungle Elephant distsurb me any LESS that tonight! This might be the key to this scent (if you need one at all). I love this perfume on very certain occasions, like a warm day in my summerhouse. Now I'm away from that house and it's fall and it's nowhere near that warm... so having devoured curry has made me ignore these only two notes that I truly dislike about this perfume - and I'm 100% delighted!:D

I never really paid much attention to this fragrance until I realized YouTubers and people on blogs mentioning this all the time. I bought a bottle way back a few years and never really used it! I have always loved Kenzo fragrances and I have a few in my collection, especially since they get more love in Europe than here in the US. Always looking into Douglas and European apothecaries when staying in Europe.

Now down to the real reason I’m here……I really agree with the reviewer below me and realized I had to try this in scramble through my collection to find the bottle I owned. There is was, unfortunately the cap was broken the elephant or tiger fell off. The juice had turned really dark brown, crossing my fingers that it did not go off (I do keep my fragrances in the cold basement hidden in a armoire only opened when searching for something or changing my fragrance tray in my bedroom. Anyway thank God, it did not go off it was just as beautiful as the day I purchased it. Spicy on the top settle into a beautiful vanillic floral once in dry down. Thank you to @Heliga below for making me bring this back into my rotation this month! Highly recommended and I did purchase a back up just in case, although Kenzo doesn’t discontinued like some other houses we know 😜. 10/10 for the fall and winter!!!!

Heliga

I've really grown to love this, but it took me a few tries.

When I first got it I was very disappointed and thought that it was far too acidic and the spices too dry and shy. This is sweet/sour, I was expecting spicy cinnamon buns but what I get from Elephant is more apple pies (not overly sweetened or ripe). I had also missed that the cap isn't metal but rather cheap and flimsy which added to the poor first impression. It looks okay from a distance, but the sense of quality isn't there when you touch it.

I was also very disappointed with the lasting power since it's hyped up as extremely long lasting but it doesn't stay especially well on my skin. It's a beast on paper and clothing though, I can catch a whiff of it for weeks on clothes I wore with this. Sillage is also really big, especially on fabric or freshly sprayed. On my skin it turns into a skinscent within a few hours.

My first bottle is from 2020 (was produced about a month before I bought it so the bottle was completely fresh), and though it had really grown on me I had read that it wasn't as good as older formulas so I was on the lookout for an old bottle to compare with. I was hoping to win the durability lottery, and I'd read that the original was more sweet and spicy and less sour. I scored a bottle from the late nineties for a pretty good price so that I could compare. There were only a couple of minor differences:

*the older bottle was sliiiiightly sweeter, but it's like the difference between adding a cup of sugar and an extra teaspoon after that. You can't tell unless you compare side by side, and even then it's subtle. It makes it smell a tiny little bit less dry, which I appreciate, but again it's barely noticable.

*the older bottle has a slight smell of freshly applied nail polish in the opening. I don't mind (actually kind of like that smell, I find the same tone in Bottega Veneta edp and Dior Fahrenheit and I find it addictive), but I'm not sure if it's because the bottle is so old and the scent has aged or if it's part of the original formula.

*Lasting power on paper is a couple of days longer from the nineties bottle, but since my recent bottle stays distinct for about a month on paper and clothing it doesn't really make a difference. On my perfume eating skin the different formulas last about as well.

In conclusion: I would have been happy with the older bottle if I got it first, but the new bottle is so similar to the 25 year old bottle that it was kind of a useless purchase. This isn't a fragrance that you want to spray too much of so two full bottles is kind of unnecessary. I've used this quite a bit and there's barely a visible dent in my first bottle.

missolga

this is one of the most amazing perfumes that ever been created , its absolutely feminine, long lasting and i love it on me, i feel happy wearing it and optimistic , it's such a unique and different scent , nothing you have ever smelled before , people are always asking me what i'm wearing every time i use it since Christmas 1997 when i bought it first time, it's one of my signature perfumes , i love it

SuzyVP

This, to me, is one of those fragrances that you can appreciate the beauty of, even if you don’t like it. It is well made, beautifully blended and lasts forever. But I strongly dislike it. On me it smells like someone spilled vinegar over me and then dropped the contents of their spice cabinet on top.
Let me reiterate: on me. Because I have smelled this one someone else and loved it on them!

kittywhiskers

I have no recollection of what I was expecting when I blind bought this, but it was definitely a shock when I sprayed it for the first time and ended up smelling like a chai cookie.

This fragrance is fall-time baking in a bottle to me. Bad idea to try this in the summer heat for the first time, its heaviness made me so nauseous and kinda scared me away until this Thanksgiving weekend, when I figured it's the perfect time to give it another try. Such warm spiciness, lots of clove and cardamom in the opening, and cinnamon all throughout. This is truly a unique fragrance, honestly had I smelled it beforehand I probably wouldn't have purchased it, but it's slowly growing on me. I think for now I prefer to wear it when I know I'll mainly be outdoors, as it's way too much for closed-in spaces.

fauxmantis

This is not reminiscent of chai. The cumin/licorice combo does not mix well, and smells a bit fecal to me

druidica

I blind bought this and I love it so much. I accidentally played tennis while wearing this and I felt like I was being chased around by a butler holding a plate of fresh out of the oven old fashioned style gingerbread; not the cookies the fudgie kind. florals sweeten it and make it extremely feminine they smell kind of powdery on me but the florals are mainly in the background. I highly recommend if you love spice and gourmands, no idea why people pretend its not gourmand-y. 100% feminine and fall winter this is the perfect cuddle on the couch winter scent for me.

marrrr

To me, it's "spicy Eden edp". I was having second thoughts about the cumin cuz i hated it in Rose 31, but its not even prevalent here. All i smell is somehow sweet cinnamon and cloves. Unique! Signature scent just like Benetton Tribu and Cacharel Eden (imo). This is gonna be this winter's scent for me

Furs&FrAGErence

Miss Aly, were you possibly in the sunshine or tanning bed? These spices in EO form can be very photo sensitive. Even outside of sunshine iv used cinnamon EO on the skin and had terrible burning. I suspect you’re very sensitive to the spices. I personally have never had a poor experience with this fragrance. I wear this in the Summer. Like at the pool 😁

windchime_00

Cardamom is a favorite note and cumin reminds me of childhood (mom's cooking), so perhaps I'm more inclined to like it. This gives me intense jungle vibes. It is for a self-assured woman like a literary punk rocker, if that makes sense, though it's not particularly feminine to my nose. It's eccentric and difficult. The 5 ml I have is going to be enough to last me my lifetime, but I'm glad to have it and am pleased by the bold but not thoughtless execution.

I find Tolu by Ormonde Jayne to have a similar accord, but a little less punk :-)

Note: It didn't irritate my skin at all as another reviewer said (and my skin is pretty sensitive) and I can't imagine it not projecting as someone else claimed. I'm wondering if they got bad samples.

Edit: I tried it again today on my skin and I love it so much more than before even though I still appreciated it then. This is becoming like an Angel (original formula) for me. At first you are curious but cautiously unsure, then it becomes more uniquely delectable over time.

Chanel de Lanvin

People who make a "like" on a negative opinion must feel exactly the same thing, it's a miracle, like what... we no longer express our true feelings but that of others, it's far from be the behavior of those who truly love the world of perfume.
I had a hard time liking Jungle the first time, but I took the time to get used to it and it has become a great must-have scent in my collection.

LOST_HORIZON

Kenzo Jungle Elephant is a spiced beauty, a Dominique Ropion legend...

I can really understand the fear and fright that this perfume can give, it is very strong, very intense and overwhelming. I have learned over the years to know how to use it. Its opening is spicy, but it is so well combined with vanilla and cardamom that all these spices become poetry. My tactic for loving Jungle is to wear it on a really cold day and be outside for a while.

The vintage maintains an impressive vanilla-cinnamon scent. "Use very little" and right after the shower gives an unparalleled peaceful and mystical feeling.

It is a perfume that for 25 years has shown that perfumery to be intense, with a lot of personality, quality oriental ingredients does not make it necessary to resort to niche perfumery. A masterpiece that needs an open mind and above all a taste for dense Orientals.

It is a powerful elephant, well treated, it will show you the gentle pachyderm delicacy.

Scents8ionalwoman

I am surprised by the scent of this fragrance and it is not of the pleasant sort. Understanding the Jungle Elephant to be a scent that is rich in spices is one thing, but, I did not expect for it to smell like what it smells like to me.The fragrance to me smells like what I would imagine a Chai custard would smell like if there is such a dessert. To me the scent is like an unctuous Chai custard that's heavy both in spice and creamy vanilla. There's a sweetness that does not remind me of sweet as in sugary sweet but, more of a saccharine sweetness. It has the sort of sweetness that gets caught in my throat the way that the old sugar substitutes would. I just got the Jungle Elephant yesterday and I really had hoped to enjoy the spices and the vanilla mingling together harmoniously. Unfortunately, what I got instead is an elephant, trumpeting loud as she's munching on cardamom seeds and letting huge chunks of thick vanilla custard slide down her massive throat. Oh, she's having a great time just munching and slurping away, but the whole thing is making me nauseous.

Bouquet Bleu

It opens very harsh and culinary, pure cardamom and cumin. Later ylangylang ans magnolia emerge more and it gets more balanced, but depending on skin chemistry this phase can dever develop.

jermany.clark

I love wearing this scent which is very unisex in my opinion. I’ve worn it in both hot and cold weather and received compliments every time. The cinnamon and licorice notes in this elixir are very beautiful to me. The vanilla base even those notes out. It is very gourmand to me. If you’re a gourmand lover like myself, then Id add this scent.
The scent is very warm and evoking and most would describe it. You get the scenes of cuddling by the fire on snowy nights of course. I was told while wearing this that “I smelled like Christmas”. It was the strangest compliment that still made me smile. After all, Christmas is a good thing lol.

miss_aly

After reading everyone's reviews, I knew I needed to test this one out myself. Just from smelling the cap, my gut reaction was "ew Red Hot's/cinnamon gum". But I still decided to try it out on my skin and WOW. Yes the cinnamon is still there but there's so much more happening once it's on the skin. You get that creamy vanilla in the background with the spices swirling throughout. I can definitely see the comparisons people point out, especially a potpourri vibe. My husband thought I smelled like gingerbread cookies. But this is truly a unique vanilla to my collection. Definitely made for cooler weather, and so far it seems pretty strong! Hopefully this lasts my whole day! For the price, I'd definitely consider getting the full sized bottle.

**EDIT!!!*** Has anyone else gotten red bumps from this? I tested it for the first time yesterday, and today I woke up with redness on my neck and bumps on my wrists... Not sure if it's the sample I got or if I'm allergic to something in this???

itsamarshmallowworld

Warm, spicy, and a little sweet. Christmas in a bottle! Smells like the nicest, most welcoming potpourri / spice cabinet you’ve ever smelled. Can be potent- a little can go a long way :).

ad4

I only tried this perfume once but that morning it was one of the longest drives to work where I could finally rub it off my skin :D It's very strong and the only thing I could smell was licorice (which I hate). It's definitely an unique scent but unfortunately nothing for me.
Update: From time to time I try this perfume to find out if my relationship is still the same or if I start to like it. I tried it again about a month or two months ago, I did 1 spray on my forearm and I must say I still don't like it at all but in this amount I can stand it. After some time after spraying I put on a hoodie and I can still smell it from it after washing. But in the end this perfume still doesn't match me and it probably never will.

Milena94

When I sprayed it in shops, I immediately thought no, strange perfume. But then I got a sample and tried it on my skin, and it was suddenly very different! Indeed like a spicy pastry, not too sweet but not too sharp either. I don’t wear it for every occasion, not on a daily basis, I like to preserve the unique and exclusive character. Strong without being too much, and good lasting power.

KaliDurga

I wore this in 85 degree Fahrenheit today with no issues. It's a light amber / spicy scent; with the most prominent note, after amber, being cinnamon. It's complex and I imagine it smells differently on each person, the exact way a scent is supposed to work. I'm not a big fan of cinnamon scents so I won't be wearing this again. It is nice though.

Brooklynjade

This is November in a bottle. Cold, shorter days spent preparing for/enjoying the pending holidays. Friends and family gathered, parties, and rich indulgent food. A literal spice bomb, packed to the brim with cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and cumin. Very strong, and a bit overpowering. Wish there was more vanilla to sweeten and tame. In fact when I do wear it, I layer Kayali vanilla 28 over it, to feminize it a bit. Easily unisex. Not for the faint of heart, do not blind buy.

**Note: Try testing this on skin— it smells phenomenally spicy and warm.

Ceekel

Wow! This was a pleasant surprise. Not for the faint at heart at all. If you love a heavy hitter with a bozzie vanilla cinnamon bomb this is for you. Very spicy, but warm at the same time. I find it very comforting and definitely puts me in a good mood. I wear my perfumes when I want but most may enjoy in the fall are winter. Do not over spray this one, you'll kill someone. 10 out of 10 for me. Don't blind buy this one get a sample first. It's a love for me.

L.rist

My mother loves this perfume and this will always remind me of her. Sometimes I wear it and people say omg I hate this perfume, but to me, there is nothing like the hug of Jungle on a cold winters morning.

Kline

This is a beautiful perfume. It is warm and spicy while also being sweet and light. I would recommend to anyone who is drawn towards that combination of scent and tones of fragrance.

I perhaps feel like I am lacking the floral and sweet that I tend to be drawn to here as far as perfume is concerned. The light warm spice reminds me of ginger tea with honey and for my personal tastes would work better as a bubble bath or bar of soap, or a potpourri for the living room.

I still regard Kenzo Jungle as a wonderful scent, I would just prefer it in a different form than a perfume.

Kitskivich

Batch 3XO1 (2013): Upon first application of only one drop on each wrist in 85F/29C temps, I gasped because I smelled the original Cinnabar from the 80s. I always found Cinnabar to be spicer than the sweeter, more powdery and vanilla Opium, and this was Cinnabar at the start. Then the cloves and other spices combined to smell like a cinnamon blend for a moment, followed very quickly by a hint of beautiful sandalwood incense - but not smoky, mind you, as that would be a bust for me. Next up was a beautiful hint of fruit that flowed beautifully with the other notes. This all happened in 10-15 minutes. It then very quickly warmed up and settled in as a smooth, exotic blend - with never a sharp note, never an off note - that really blew me away. I suspect the ylang ylang, heliotrope, and vanilla contribute to the smoothness of the fragrance. Happily, I was never overwhelmed by patchouli because it's not a love for me.

Batch 1JO1 (2021): This batch starts out more amber, perhaps a tad more balsamic and aromatic than batch 3XO1. It is a touch less spicy and cinnamon (I know, it's not a listed note, but it features in batch 3XO1) and a bit smoother. I can smell a hint of anise (well, licorice and caraway). It's a tiny bit more like Opium and has a note about five minutes in that is a hint of church incense and then quickly gone. Fifteen minutes in, the batches are much more alike. I'd still say batch 1JO1 is a bit smoother and less spicy at the onset. Both batches are lovely.

Jungle L'Elephant is no Boucheron, no Obsession, neither of which I can wear because I find them to be syrupy and overwhelming. It is just beautiful, unique, well-blended, other-worldly spice and warmth. Because it is so unique, it truly makes ideal sense to try a sample to see how it works with your chemistry before buying a full bottle. Those of you for whom it works will never look back.

TeachOlfactoryArt

This works remarkably well in summer heat and humidity. Two sprays and it’s an ambery, sweet but not sickly, spicy, fruity, vanillic cocktail. Works equally well in fall/winter. Unisex.

This is what Parfums de Marly’s Layton should be—or was, before PDM removed the one unique factor to Layton, the camphorated note.

Edemay

Oh my goodness how I miss this magical fragrance
I actually smelt this on a woman in the shops the other day and was instantly stunned thinking
"OMG what is that amazing smell, wait I know this!"
This scent is pure comfort and class, it oozes taste and culture.
I definitely was not ready for this scent when I owned it about 7 years ago.
I have grown up and experienced much more in life and can now fully appreciate it.
As for the notes and how it smells its something I can't really describe, probably the most unique vanilla scent I've smelt.

proverbs2121

Disclaimer: I enjoy strong bold fragrances so keep this in mind as I share my impressions. I love wearing Angel and Black Orchid so it takes a lot to overwhelm me in the perfume dept. Jungle is a punchy scent but not as big as many of the reviews described it. Its a real chameleon on my skin, running the gamut from spicey to boozy to sweet depending on how long I have it on. Jungle has a bit of a vintage quality and probably would not appeal to the younger frag heads. If you dont appreciate rich spices like cardamom, this one isnt for you. Jungle has a slight masculine take on it which I enjoy. I imagine Jungle will morph even more in the colder weather and I am looking forward to testing it out then. I am really glad I finally have this one in my collection. Not for everybody for sure. The bottle is divine! The scent is unusual and rich. Yes, I dig it.

emilymonroe1

Superb and perfect combination of accords in this amber spicy fragrance. I am in love with this fragrance that makes me feel joy and incredible comfort. Such an attention grabber that brings out several compliments while one wears it. This rich, heavy and spicy perfume is seriously addictive. It imparts the warmest honeyed patchouli one can ever smell.

betty_bounce

It’s noice. It’s different… unusual. But sadly it’s no bomb. I’m really working hard to catch a whiff at any distance from my wrist. Fingers crossed it’ll bloom up nicely in warmer weather. I was expecting a nasal assault… the cinnamon explosion that I’ve read about. But it’s fairly tame. Wish I could’ve smelled the bomb version. But it has grown on me as it is certainly pleasantly quirky.

Katelynl88

I do not like this at all . I was really surprised at this one . It’s definitely unique, smells like clove and cinnamon mixed with porta potty freshener , then the dry down has an old school cover girl foundation smell or an after sun lotion that reminds me of the old school foundation . I wanted to love this but it just isn’t a scent I’d want to wear . It’s not bad , but it’s just not my style but it’s definitely a beast mode for longevity and projection !

PS_Nora

very unique scent, I do not own or use it but three people I know do, one is a family friend who has worn this since I was born, since 1996, so it reminds me of her. A beautiful curly haired woman who wears crystal necklaces and likes to party, but loves being a mom even more. I think it's a lovely scent, warm and spicy. Two other friends my age, in their twenties wear this too, and it's beautiful on them too. I love all three of them so to me this smells like love haha. This being said, it is not for everyone, definitely not for me. But I disagree with people who say it's terrible or gross, it is lovely but definitely very distinct and unlike any other perfume I ever smelled. Will make u memorable, if it is ur signature scent everyone you ever meet will think of you when smelling this even after decades of last seeing you. Try it for sure!

patricia.w.lancaster

This is creamy spice. Sounds odd but it works. It has wonderful longevity, and it's in a class of one. Nothing else is like it

tashwakefield

I want to give an objective analysis of this gorgeous bottle by a brilliant designer, but all I can get is Big Red Cinammon flavoured gum! I am going to keep trying though, I know that it is a beautiful fragrance. Sometimes it is difficult to get past that first memory invoking impression though.

minamartin

I always wanted one Kenzo sweater.
I always wanted to ride on a elephant.
I would never want this Kenzo elephant ride.

It is such a pungent, coughing syrup/medical bag smell that tries to be oriental. But it is just doesn't work like that. At least with me. One thing that i has to give to this - it is strong! Like you spray 2 and when you pass a person by, instantly anyone can tell what are you wearing. For me not in the good way. It repells me...and scares me.

Jloveparfum

This is simply wonderful to my nose and I am reveling in its fragrance. With this exotic elephant, I will certainly feel very warm in the coming Autumn-winter days, but I also find it extremely pleasant on warmer days.

🐘 From start to finish it is purely Spicy. Basically this King Elephant opens explosively. A smell of cloves and cumin with a fresh touch of tangerine. Quickly giving way to an exotic heart, thanks to the further intensification of cloves and cardamom along with cumin with that sweet touch of licorice, merging with the sweetness of a juicy mango, it turns it into a sweet and spicy heart. Finally the drying becomes even more Oriental and captivating. Sweetened in perfect accords of vanilla and amber, all beautifully combined with that exquisite mango wrapped in Ylang-ylang creating a warm and slightly floral aura.

The intensity and substantivity on my skin is more than 12 hours with strong to moderate diffusion and Sillage. Its exclusivity and quality is amazing. This could easily be a Niche perfume.

Definitely another Masterpiece by perfumer Dominique Ropion.

PS: The name of the fragrance was given in honor of the first boutique in the French capital, JUNGLE JAP (Opened in 1970 which would later be called Kenzo) by Japanese Designer Kenzo Takada who lived his last years in Paris and passed away on October 4, 2020

Elysiom

Haha jesus this fragrance. So first tip here would be to try a very small amount directly on your skin, NOT on paper, because its opening is a punch in the teeth. On *skin* is where this fragrance lives and breathes and just... wow.

This is a tough one to explain. I like a little spice in my fragrances, and I recently ordered a number of them. Many were too heavy, too spicy, too masculine for me as a woman- (Spice Must Flow). Some had that grandpa old-timer aftershave drydown (FM Noir Epices) which again- is great for men perhaps. I'm a woman and I wanted sweet *and* spicy.

This is... that, and more. This is not for the faint of heart. If you overspray on a paper strip you'll recoil. ... Which I did. However if you let it dry down for at least 5 minutes and then smell it- you'll start to understand it.

It's like walking into an alien tea and spices shop on another planet. And I love it. I kept coming back to it like a moth to a flame.

It's sweet, it's spicy, it's sensuous. The opening is *LOUD* and at first I just literally swore and laughed a little- labeled my paper strip and taped it to my wall. I labeled it "F&CK me, that opening!" I came back an hour later and laughed at the note but... it had completely changed! It was still spicy but the sweetness in the formulation had developed, and in partnership with the light floral additions it stops it from being that acrid 'body odor' complaint that a lot of 'spicebombs' get. I can't explain how it works, or why it works- or why I took a chance on it. I typically dislike amber, patchouli, licorice... but this is... it's special. It came together in a magical pot in an alien shop on another planet and it's fabulous. Exotic. Intoxicating.

I think everyone tries to explain the strong clove profile in a different way. I could get the Christmas vibes if I really stretch- but this isn't a 'cozy' relaxing scent profile. I guess in that way I could see wearing it any time of year and just leaning into different interpretations of clove. I hear chai references too, but it also has no coffee/milk accords. It's also not clove cigarettes- it's sweet but not incense-like. For me it reminds me of strong spicy tea- but I think the closest I agree with is sweet chai. The more it dries down, the more chai it is.

It's also saved from a strictly chai profile by the light florals. It's... exquisite. Exotic. Sweet but spicy. Complex. Memorable. Expensive. Confident. Magnificent. It's a sweet and spicy beast. It's not comforting, it's head turning.

Only test this in a small amount, directly on skin, and give it a moment. You'll keep coming back to it.

Anywho

This is Christmas in a bottle and at first I thought this will only suit cold weather, but it actually works in Summertime as well. I absolutely love it, but am treading carefully when applying especially when I will be in confined spaces. So, most of the time I spray only once or twice. On woollens in Winter it will last for days on end lol; that’s how potent it is. Wonderful stuff…!

ArtByLeia

Out of curiosity - How much do y'all spray this? This is SUCH a potent scent that I'm not sure if I should spray more than 1 spray. It's a lovely winter fragrance btw.

Kotikina

An amazing blind buy, signature worthy. A spicy chai latte. The most prominent note in here is a photorealistic clove, then cardamom, I don't really get any citruses, maybe not mandarin per se, but dried peel. The base is a balmy vanilla. This is so rich, so uplifting!
Appropriate for all seasons, the spices play nicely during heat. I can see how some people can see it overpowering, but I cannot see this as one of those smells that could be 'offensive' (heavy tobacco, smokey, incense, bitter). This is a very joyful elephant indeed.

SweetJhane

I’m in awe of the Kenzo perfumes I’ve smelled. Jungle l’Elephant was a blind buy based on reviews here. I thought that if it’s even half of what is described by reviewers, I’m in! Well, it’s every single thing I hoped and more I didn’t even know to hope for. There’s a quality to this perfume that’s so hard to capture in words. This will seem very odd, but it’s like the most otherworldly beautiful color you didn’t even know existed in our spectrum under 20 perfectly, painstakingly applied clear layers, where the time required to achieve the look was about perfection and art. There’s a refractive, lead crystal quality that encapsulates this perfume. By its nature, perfection creates distance. The humid heat of this perfume bridges the gap to accessibility. 24 hours and it is still just about intact and still detectable by others. The cumin interrupts everything when it emerges and I just love the sweatiness while it lasts in the midst of that sparkling cinnamon. I get anise, dark brown sugar, a very lovely patchouli, masterfully blended flowers so that gardenia doesn’t ruin everything, and heaps of cinnamon. The bottle! Every single thing about this perfume speaks fine craftmanship, vision, and art. Mad, mad love!!

Veronika95

This is HEAVY and I love that. I'm always interested in strong perfumes, the stronger the better, but they tend to be on the more expensive side. This one is cheap, but it would pass as an expensive niche perfume. Apply very lightly. It's warm spicy and dry sweet. I don't think it's necessarily a winter scent. If used wisely, it is very suitable for the summer, as someone below said, it's more exotic than Christmassy. But if you overspray in hot weather, I think people might actually hate you.
The only thing that I hate is that my new 30ml bottle has a plastic elephant. It's very disappointing, I was looking forward to the beautiful heavy metal elephant I had on 100ml.

sharky_shosho

This should be named spice bomb or something. It smells as if you've stumbled in an old spices shop somewhere in India or Morocco. Certainly not a blind buy, as it's very challenging to pull off but I think this will smell fantastic if layered with a sweeter fragrance with vanilla or tonka notes.

Furs&FrAGErence

Oh, how pretty and romantic. This is for someone who has a appreciation for India and the dry heat. This isn’t a Christmas fragrance imho. It’s beautiful in summer. Makes me feel exotic. Very intimate imo. Longevity seems good, too. Definitely one to have a second bottle of.

Catmo

This is just a clove and cardamom bomb. I don’t get much else. I’m not sure who would want to smell like they had a spice cabinet incident. Not me.

Freshvibe

Sweet jesus , loved this when I was Young , when it came out . Blind bought it agan . Dear lord . Will never be able to use it . Find it totally unwearable.
Clove. Its just not possible to smell clove . This is a Christmas potpurri , period .
The Bottle and design is absolutely Gorgeous.
Kenzo RIP.

Chanel de Lanvin

It's a mainstream perfume that pleasantly surprised me, I had a little difficult at first, but then I tamed it and I compare it to certain niche perfumes, which have a very different directive from what is fashion or simply to please others.
It is certainly not a perfume that you buy just like that, but to be prepared for a different olfactory journey, which adapts to your personality.
Probably the best in its class.

LadyJedi

How have I even lived without this fabulous fragrance? It was a love at first sniff and it went straight into my hall of fame list surpassing many other orientals. Now I can officially say I am in a relationship with a perfume! It gives me warmth and sweetness and it makes me feel fantastic, especially during the colder months. The lasting power is exceptional and the trail is fantastic! I can smell it for 12+ hours! The cloves and cinnamon are the most prominent notes on my skin. Since I got the elephant I have been searching for other perfumes with noticeable cloves note so help would be strongly appreciated here. Fingers crossed this magnificent perfume never gets discontinued!

Kharmynn

This is an orange spice candle, or Christmas potpourri. Maybe a wall plug-in.
It would make for a nice home fragrance, and maybe I'll use it for that. I don't enjoy wearing it though.
This was a blind buy fail for me.

Chapi

My FAVORITE vanilla ever..... so yummy so powdery when the cardamom disappears... My dream is to find a perfume that smells exactly like Elephant's drydown. My quest for the Holy Grail would be over.

Prefer to wear it in cold weather.

coffeefifofum

Credit to them for pulling off a trick I don't feel like I've seen before. Opens like a manly drawer sachet. Anise and licorice to my nose but the notes call it cloves and cumin. IMO it's not as dusty as you usually get from cumin, but regardless it's warm spice without being cinnamon or sweet. Dries very soapy with strong support from ylang ylang and gardenia. Gender flip is a new take on unisex perfume and I'd be here for it if I liked soapy. Far more wearable than the hype around the jungle line led me to expect.

Test from a dabber decant in a travelling sample box in a moderate temperature room. Projection is arm's length for hours. The trek to skin scent takes time.

FadiTheEvangelist

Executive Summary: I LOVE this spicy, long-lasting fragrance.

I've never smelled anything quite like this fragrance. It's a complex mixture of spices, such that, in my opinion, none of them take center stage individually. Instead, it's a group effort. And it is most definitely all about the spices.

As for the base notes, I'll take Kenzo's word that they're there. Who cares about base notes when you've got such lovely, intense spices in the top and heart notes?

Outstanding longevity. Good for either men or women. In my clearly minority opinion, Jungle l'Elephant leans decidedly masculine, though. Of course, it would work quite well for anyone whose taste runs strongly in favor of spices.

One last point: Considering the longevity and the quality, this is an outstanding bargain. Not a true cheapie (which to me is under $35 or so) but stellar value nonetheless.

nepria

I've been wanting to write this comment for a long time, but it is so hard to describe my love for this perfume... I've been in this crazy relationship with this perfume for more than 15 years and I had it all.
Mostly people wear it during colder seasons, but for me, this is one of the most perfect perfumes in dry heat, during a summer evening, nights out, in exotic countries. I used to wear it during autumn-winter but by accident, I shifted to the other direction. It was the only perfume I took by mistake to Marocco and I wore it in the evenings to make me feel more luxurious. The heat is blasting, I got this lovely tan, me and my friend we are laying on the sand watching the sun setting and I feel my hair flowing and this extremely nice, extremely potent smell hits my nose. And I just try to grasp it every time my hair touched my face. Honestly, the smell was so good, I thought I was in some ecstatic state. And there it was, the moment I realized this is the most beautiful perfume for a summer evening. I felt like a goddess, no tropical smell made me feel like this during summer the way this spicy aromatic perfume did. Try it! Just not in the crowded places, on the street! The perfume has to have space to linger, to float, it has to have its own space. I would even say weare it when you are alone setting the sun on the beach or enjoying the cocktails in exotic resorts.

It truly is spicy, especially at the beginning the spices may even seem harsh, I would say the cardamon and cumin are very noticeable. But later the scent becomes rounder, sweeter, juicier, you can definitely sense the fruity notes and some ambery hints. For me there is no distinctive note that I feel, I just sense it as a whole as it is perfectly blended, beautiful warm, and seductive.

Longevity and sillage are enormous. It beats most of my niche fragrances. You can still feel it on your clothing or on your hair the next day for sure. You can't hide with this one, wear this perfume and people will be able to tell you were there even when you left the room half an hour before, it leaves it's traces everywhere. It's like in this fairytale 'everything you touch turns to gold'... so this makes everything smell like Jungle. You sit in a car, on the chair, you try on a dress in a store, you leave your coat next to someone else's. THEY GONNA KNOW! So watch out on that if you don't want to be noticed. :D

Try this perfume, take this amazing trip to the most beautiful, mesmerizing, magical, mysterious place it can take you to, and I swear you are going to be in love for the rest of your life.

abbieclark67

An amber spicy fragrance that is a kind of magical addiction. The top notes are Cloves, Cumin and Mandarin Orange; the heart notes are Cardamom, Caraway, Licorice, Mango, Ylang-Ylang, Heliotrope, and Gardenia; the base notes are Vanilla, Amber and Patchouli. This one makes me feel comforting, joyful, and amazing. There is richness, heaviness, and spiciness in this fragrance for all the addictive qualities. Great projection and longevity can be seen in this with the overall warm and spicy feel where there is a perfect blend of these spicy, fresh and warm notes to make it special and unique. Wear it and go out, you are sure to get at least 3-4 compliments. Perfection at its best!

emgailba

It's probably not fair to leave a review stemming from a scent memory, but I'm sitting here laughing and smelling my wrist and NO. This is a hard pass for me. This scent is the inside of a Dillard's department store at Christmas-time. There are glitzy ornaments and trees with ribbons. I'm getting such a strong association with Christmas time, it's a bit home fragrance for me, like a red candle called "Holiday Cheer" or something. UGH. I just get cloves and oranges, more spices from mulled cider--just no, no, no. Going to scrub my wrist now.

vanirai

I wanted to like this but I’m not really a fan. I think it smells good after a day when it’s faded, and it doesn’t smell bad but it’s just cloves. You can smell the vanilla a little but all i smell is cloves it gives me a headache. I wish it smelt like chai like it does for everybody else

ATC

This reminds me of my younger days. It was a gift from a friend and I did not really like it at that time. Perhaps I was too young for this then. Can still remember it was spicy and loud. Did not finish the whole bottle. The elephant decoration was kind of a signature design and very recognisable.

forallinose

24 hours later and I can still smell it. If you want a unique fragrance with massive sillage and crazy longevity, this is it.

nazoknarengi

من عاشق این عطرم. حس قدرت بهم می ده . مشکلش اینه که نمی تونی هر جایی ازش استفاده کنی، اما شاید همین نقطه قوتش باشه از یه دید دیگه

ScentedPlaza

Masala chai tea with rice milk - it's so yummm.
So spicy, milky, fragrant, balmy, cozy with a green rice field in the background. It is such a great layering scent! I love layering it with mandarin/orange/jasmine body creams.

PlushFerret

At first I said "Definitely a cool weather or night perfume." Now? It's truly an exxxtra hot or exxxtra cold weather perfume.

On me this is 100% unisex, and actually leans very masculine on my skin. I get no sweetness or florals, just musty, musky, green (but rich) spice with a little vanilla.

It's reminding me more of an old school aftershave (literally Old Spice) but with chai, rice pudding, and milky vanilla sugar mixed in.

Honestly, this on a gentleman would be an instant goddamn panty dropper.

EDIT: After wearing this more, it seems that after a few hours, it becomes more feminine. It loses the Old Spice spice, and melts into a sweetened vanilla milk chai spice. Still definitely unisex, still a panty-dropper.

This would blast your sinuses into infinity in the heat, and I can't wait to try this in the summer.

fanntonyoscar

For me, this smells like one of the old school head shops. If you could bottle the hippie scent, this is it, imo.

bogdakdak

If you were 90s kid….this is childhood in a bottle.
This was so popular in my country. Warm spicy Christmasy delicious and milky

Jefferson_starkid

Blind buy, and I don'tlike it :( It's wayyyy to grandma-y for me, in a bad way. Smells like an old jar of candies that has been closed for way too long.

nmassie

I blind bought this, and upon first spray, I thought I'd made a huge mistake because it almost swallowed me whole. I nearly felt like vomiting. I gave it another chance, and actually really love it. It's a scent that has a quality that not many scents have, no matter how good I think they smell, or how they check all my boxes for uniqueness, longevity, strength, projection, and sillage—this feels like it suits me, it smells like a "me" type scent.

It's a big, beautiful, loud, unapologetic scent. It opens up coming straight out of the 90s(in a good vintage way, not in a dusty, outdated way). It's such a spice and sweetness bomb that it's like getting cinnamony chai and spiced vanilla rice pudding poured down your throat, and it is so good. There is also, as someone else mentioned, this very slight medicinal quality in it that could have been disastrous had it been overdone. I can only compare it to cough drops, or maybe a tiny bit of Vicks, or something like that, with the feel of fall/Christmas scented candles. On paper it sounds bad, but this quality is intoxicating. Trust me, it works. It just radiates like a sweet, spicy, delicious heat all day long because of this.

I think this may be a new favorite of mine—very unique and statement making. I also love the unisex vibe it has. Perfect for night time and cold winters, but I hear it smells great in dry heat. Fantastic longevity, too. I still can detect it on my skin the morning after I've worn it, and on clothing, it laaaasts. I got a big bottle on Fragrancenet for like $48, and I think that's an impressive value for such good fragrance.

It is very strong and punchy, do not overspray, because you may make yourself and others sick like I did the first time. Not the best idea to blind buy, so test it if you can before purchase. Spray a little, then adjust to your liking—you very well may need to get to know this one first.

Tifffyy

My first perfume purchase of 2022! I have read so many reviews, and honestly was very intrigued and a little scared of it. I thought for sure I was going to be overpowered by a spice BOMB, but it was actually love at first sniff. This does go through a ton of changes in a very short period, but it is intoxicating through it all.
Very comforting, warm, creamy, spicy, a little sweet, extremely unique! So much softer than I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, it is STRONG, but the fruity, floral and vanilla notes really tone down those pungent spices.
I am going to wear it in public for the first time today, we shall see how it goes and if my opinion changes, as I’ve only tried it on the back of my hand so far. I will come back and update.

UPDATE: I definitely don’t think you have to be scared of this scent at all. I don’t think it’s the monster performer that maybe it once was. I went light on the sprays when I first applied, because of all the reviews I read. I sprayed lightly on each wrist, once on my neck and once on my shirt. A few hours later I asked my daughter if she could smell me when I picked her up from school and she couldn't, even after we were home and she put her nose right up to me. I ended up spraying more on me before I went out shopping.
When I refreshed the spray on my arm and asked my daughter what she thought (she is 13 and also loves perfumes) her first words were “it smells like fall” then she said “it smells like Hobby Lobby” 😂 I also detect a little of the waxy scent that some say they can smell and compare it to a candle.
Doesn’t change the fact that I still love this perfume, it does smell delicious.

1/11/22
I wore it again today and layered it with By the Fireplace by Replica, I can’t remember who recommended it, but it was a beautiful combo. I only went one place and got a complement.

KarolaFragrance

This is one of those scents that unapologeticaly take the stage, it is thick, dense and overwhelming. Wearing this you do not politely wait to be invited, you storm in and own the room. Wear it for occasions when you want to say "I do not care what any of you think of me". If you do care then this frag will overwhelm you, one has to have the energy to pull this off.

Spices and mix of yellow and white florals, perfecty blended into one glorious diva.

kerriejo

No thanks. I so wanted to love this! The notes sound amazingly spicy and warm. Perfect for cold weather. Sadly though it just isn’t for me. I get Old Spice after shave and it’s too masculine. With that said, I’ve smelled this on other ladies and it’s incredible - it takes a certain woman. I think for me, I lack that vibe that's needed to carry this scent. It’s a no from me, though I fully acknowledge how well loved it is in the frag community.

2lipsinHolland

I want to love this because it is an icon in the category of the spicy genre. But I just cannot. The sweetness of this without something dry to balance it out makes it cloying for me. My skin really amps vanilla so the patch/amber just fall to the wayside in the dry down.

mateuszolech072

Far, far away on a desert planet Arrakis there is mysterious substance called "Melange" or "the spice". I can imagine that Melange would smell like Kenzo Jungle. It's very, very spicy and very strong almost to the point that I feel like being on some kind of drug. I feel a little bit dizzy after smelling it on myself for about an hour. Just spray it on, one is enough and play soundtrack from "Dune" by Hans Zimmer... magic.

Pinja

A tropicalfruity-floral cinnamon perfume. Positive, bright, glowing, radiating.

Sniffer Tales

I love it so much! It's one of the best milky scents on the market, - love it, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper - all boiling in hot milk with a hint of amber and lemon! Unbelievable silage and longevity, - it's unisex to me, at least I'd love to sniff it on a guy!

elshoobie

All I have to say is,

This is Christmas in a bottle.

...and I will wear this in summer because I love it that much! It blooms nicely in the dry heat.

chiefkiefersutherland

Jungle has been my go to scent since my mom bought me a bottle when I was 13.

Amazing sillage, amazing longevity, spicy, sweet, unique, and even abrasive to some.

eloisegirl

If you drank chai while eating rice pudding, you would get Jungle L'Elephant. For years I read about this frag with such comments as "NOT a blind buy!" or "Heavy sillage!" and I was a bit afraid. Bought 100 ml for a reasonable price on a Canadian website, and am quite pleased with the overall Christmasy vibe of spice and eggnog and general coziness. Gonna wear this alot in the next few weeks so I can enjoy holiday memories whenever I reach for it in future.

Sarabimay

I adore it! Every single moment of it. It is like home in those weeks just before Christmas while everything smells like cookies and spice. As baking is something that soothes me and gives me comfort during my anxious periods, this perfume feels like my safe spot.

(have to say I'm huge fan of sweet, vanilla, amber, gourmand perfumes so I might be a bit biased here)

bluejayway327

Successful blind buy. I wanted a warm, unique fragrance for the cooler months, but I think this is signature scent worthy. I'll certainly be wearing it all winter, but I'm eager to see how it smells in hot weather too.

The opening is my favorite part. It is heavy on the spice and mandarin, but I don't find it too sweet. Very unisex. Not at all generic. The drydown is a patchouli bomb on my skin. I love patchouli, but if you do not--don't buy this scent. The drydown is pretty close to Molinard Patchouli on me.

One spray lasts 24+ hours. This is a beast at a for a decent price.

Angelamb

I love this one! Alone and even better layered. It's a beast, lasts all day/night on me, brings a warm spicy glow to another level when layered with vanilla, LOVE it with Tom Ford TV. Sporty with Azzaro Wanted by Night men and vanilla. By the fireplace takes it to another level all together. Will always be in my collection, and anxious to get a back up bottle. Sprayer is nice, but the 3.4oz bottle shape is awkward to get a nice spray for petite hands.

Mc1995

Ok so I wrote a review for this one a while back and compared it to potpourri and a 90’s Christmas candle, while those are valid comparisons, this is a complete spice bomb! It’s actually growing on me, I’ve gotten into warm spicy and amber fragrances lately, I hardly wear any ‘freshies’ anymore. It’s polarizing and totally unique. One of a kind fragrance, also a bit strange, in a good way. The ad campaign makes this out to be a chic edgy tropical fragrance, that’s what I see anyway. It’s totally a fall/winter scent, but I’ll have to try it out in warmer weather. It’s gorgeous, but definitely a ‘bomb’ I think I may need a full bottle, it’s discontinued and getting harder to find!

katesuisted

Jungle was recommended to me by a perfumer whose shop I would often frequent... she knows me better than I know myself! I had wanted something to replace the now discontinued Donna Karen Black Cashmere. Shout out to the nutmeg lovers out there. This fragrance is the one I get the most compliments on, but only if I lightly spray on fabric (I adore this on wool!), not directly on my skin. I love the strong, spicy cardamom and how it slowly fades into a warm hug of vanilla. It takes me to somewhere exotic I hope to return to one day. I would say it's an all-year fragrance but I do notice the hot/dry or wet weather can affect this more than other fragrances. Go lightly, keep trying and I'm sure you'll fall deeper in love too.

*loves_shoes*

Blind bought based on reviews.
It’s much much sweeter than anticipated, takes ten mins for the spices to come through.

Overall it’s a juicy, tart, sweet, spicy beast.

At first it has the mandarin note that I can sometimes dislike, it makes it a bit sickly when mixed with a spicy perfume, but I don’t get it if I don’t directly smell my skin. After ten mins though, wow.
The sweetness and green spice is fairly unusual. It’s like the kind of scent that would be very different before spicy unisex frags became more mainstream.
I love the bottle but not sure I’ll reach for it… we will see.

Edit, it’s growing on me. I’ve really not smelled anything like it before. I still dislike the first 10 mins where the mandarin just clashes with the spices and too much patchouli, but after the mandarin leaves it’s just lovely.
Sweet yet a bit fruity and spicy, with a herby kind of warmth too.
Also one spray is nuclear! It could be an extrait. And it projects too.
Definitely a keeper!

TLight

Beast Mode. This perfume is, as another reviewer stated, the most successful blind buy of my dreams, so far. I cannot begin to describe how robust and spice-forward this is. It must be smelled to be believed. I’m obsessed. Three spritzes and I smell like a spice bazaar from heaven. This discovery is going to send me down the rabbit-hole in an effort to find more fragrances that have a similar composition. To say this is a spice bomb is an understatement, and I’m so excited to have this in my life. If you like unique fragrances, don’t sleep on L’elephant.

baraninka1987

Mmm….Kenzo Jungle It’s like turning from the hectic streets of Moroccan spice market- very punchy and intense at first, then slowly takes you into the medina where you stop to enjoy your creamy chai surrounded by the freshness of the tropical flowers and palms. You can smell the warmth of the spices all the way through but well blended with the sweetness creaminess. Warm, spicy, there is sweetness and florals but not sickly and not too much. Touch of earthiness from patchouli ( more like a warm dry desert ground cracked by the sun rather than wet one so it doesn’t feel dirty)
Projection is enormous so being gentle on the amount of sprays is a must😊

I will be wearing it in the autumn, winter as well as the summer time!

I must admit it was a blind buy for me- and the best blind buy I have ever made in regards to perfumes. Love everything about this combination!!!! Nothing in this creation annoys me but I love spices as well as every other note listed. It’s so UNIQUE so i guess it wouldn’t be a good choice as a present for someone that you don’t know very well in terms of smell preferences.

sisina96rv

Phooo, this is really difficult to work with!

At first sniff it was a BIG no-no! What a spicy sharp cold stink !!! It smells very outdated. Then I left the blotter "oxidize" in the office for few days.

Now when I came back to it, it was different. It calmed down to a pleasant, very different from usual perfumes, green vanilla pistachio. I know it is not listed here, but I definitely get the impression of sweet pistachios. I layered it with Bvlgari Omnia: Green Jade, which does have pistachios, and now I am bathing in it 😁. I know, both perfumes are green, but somehow this nutty feeling, the spices and the lightness of Green Jade make the whole composition just incredibly suitable to this "almost Advent weather", when it is gloomy chilly outside, just about to snow. It might be emphasized by a patchouli, which is reminiscent of that one in Maison Margiela: Autumn Vibes - you feel the smell of wet fallen leaves, very nostalgic. Personally I feel very comfortable in this mix, but I understand, that the cloves, caraway and cumin might be a liiitle bit too much. That is why I find it more wearable in combination with something else. Now I am really satisfied that I got this 30 ml tester.

So yeah, this is the love at the 2nd sniff, together with B O Green Jade, which was also chalenging to me.😉🤷🏻♀️

dogmeat

Jungle is one of my favorites. I first smelled this during the summertime years ago and instantly fell in love. I live in the desert where it gets scorching hot, yet I think this smells amazing in the heat. This has a magnetic, sultry, cat-in-heat quality in hot weather...a dizzying vanilla-dominant perfume. When I wear it in cooler weather, I get more of the spice, which is interesting (you would think it would be the other way around). The vanilla is still there, but I get cloves, cumin, cardamom, and more cloves along with the patchouli...kind of cozy, but still animalic. Either way, this is some basic instinct stuff here...very addictive. This lasts forever and is easily detectable hours later. Try not to spray too much. You might smother others with your lust for good perfume.
