I have such a strong association of florals with glade bathroom sprays of the 90s which I cannot get past. Although, I think the fragrance name, packaging, and note descriptions are all lovely.

jg2758

Light and sweet. My husband likes it. :) The first impression is strongly like honeysuckle, but after that it shifts to be more like another white floral.

Turtledove

Bright and airy! It leads with a sunny, citrus-y tuberose blended with jasmine, with a clean greenish orange blossom note in the background. Very spring in a bottle! This has a lightweight aquatic/grassy-green quality to it that keeps it from being too heavy, but if you're sensitive to white florals it might still be too much, it is VERY floral. I can't get enough of it though, naturalistic daytime white florals are one of my favorite genres, I love this one a lot! I just wish it lasted longer, I can't justify purchasing more than a mini without how fleeting it is.

weazal

Sipping fresh squeezed orange juice in a dewy wet garden in the morning. Floral blends with citrus, but has a bracing edge of green twigs.

Leans feminine while musk builds. Minimal notes make the animalic element stand out.

Fades too quickly with a dry down that’s more scented dryer sheet than impressive. Lots of better and longer lasting options. Not worth it.

ech0

This is so weak and even that little that I can sniff is shortly gone. No wonder there's an extreme version of it. Such a weak scent shouldn't be so expensive. It is not white flowers but a memory or a shadow of them. But that little I can smell is certainly enjoyable.

Claudiaandras13

“Hey Tuberose! Hey Orange Blossom! I’m here for Linden…. What? I just missed her?” And, after a few more minutes, the scent was gone. I will be using the sample as a bathroom freshener.

ganesha

a very pretty light, airy white floral that isn’t sickening or “too” soapy. very refreshing for this type of scent. i actually quite like it, but only rated it as okay since its not for me or one i’d purchase a bottle of personally. i’m not the biggest fan of all-floral-note perfumes. only thing is that it’s very hard to pick up on this perfume, i put a lot on and still had trouble smelling it unless burying my face into my elbow where i had sprayed it.

ace.kittyhawk

This has been my no brainer all occasion easy perfume for over a decade - still another 25-30% of the bottle left plus I seem to have acquired a rollerball of it, though I don’t carry it with me. I do have the lotion too but I rarely layer. So I don’t feel it is so super short lasting on me - I’d say average for the type of scent it is. Sillage seems ok too as I got asked what I’m wearing fairly often even as I only have the EDT strength (and don’t overspray). I personally like florals though and maybe performance varies on skin. It’s one of my most frequently used fragrances so I do rate it highly for me. Like I said it’s what I reach for when I am not feeling like making a decision. Not a statement scent either - but it’s been getting compliments and questions all this time especially from men.

alternateu

Hm... I like white florals, but this one isn't white florals to me. This one is just a singular, pure mimosa.

Scent: I'm not a mimosa fan.
Projection and longevity: Very soft
Polarity: Feminine

gtabasso

This is not a tuberose fragrance. I am surprised this got all the hype. There are so many better florals out there. This is very citrus forward. Lime blossom, some orange blossom, a hint of jasmine but nothing skanky. Very watery and dilute. Doesn't last. Not impressed at all.

Whateverwhocares

Nice take on the clean, soapy genre. Very floral; white flowers which lend to freshy, soapy, linen-y vibe going on here. Prefer this to say, Sedley. Doesn’t last long, you’ll have to carry a decant and reapply. Pretty versatile; I can see keeping a bottle to wear around the hoes…I mean house!

alphairone

hear the intro Vangelis' "Spiral" as I picture scores of butterflies fluttering about the tree blossoms. Pollen is shaking off the stamens, the whole scene verges on awe-inspiring chaos. Panning out, its a legion of butterflies: monarchs, swallowtails, admirals, whites, elfins. They are taking back their earth and the air is beaming with the fragrance of linden, green, sweet, tart, and ambrosial.

The linden pageant is rendered thicker and sumptuous with the blooms of tuberose, the ones that overnight will be visited by an army of moths, hypnotized by their aroma and pearlescent white hue. Their night shift offers the same display, flooding the skies, silhouettes across the moon. We zoom into the feathery antennae of one of the moths, we realize it's almost like fish-bone, with intricate detail as we move in even closer. The smell of the flowers is in their DNA.

Le Chasse aux Papillons is a brilliant pairing of linden blossom with white florals, one of the most direct florals I've had the courage to wear and in which to lavish. I feel that it pushes the nose to a new frontier for me, facing the initial discomfort from what at once seems overwhelming, even stifling, to what is near ecstatic. I can lean into the fantasy of the lepidoptera kingdom and imagine being viscerally drawn, much like them, to the flowers.

Frangipanilove

Has this been reformulated - I am struggling to get any scent out of this at all, it literally vanishes with my body chemistry that eats up fragrance.

Phoen1x

I purchased the Coffret Decouverte a sampling of 6 perfumes from L'Artisan Parfumeur. As much as I love and can appreciate all things great and small. Especially L'Artisan Parfumeur house I do have to say in this regard Don't even bother with this.
Sits close to the skin and smells of white floral jasmine and perhaps a ylangylang and or a mix of indolic, whjite floral essences.
I have jasmine absolu oil which i bought from a organic grocery store which smells just the same. Other than the immediate spray having a HINT of something else that's it folks!

Marinesimone

I wanted to like this and liked the initial spray as I got the garden smell I was looking for. But the mix of tuberose and jasmine quickly became overbearing for me.

Cherry_Darling

This is not my scent for sure. Too much tuberose, which to my nose smells very dated, I know it can be fabulous so no hate just my own associations. I do wish i got more of that lime blossom which I adore, but the jasmine and tuberose overpower it. It does however give it an airier spring vibe than the usual tuberose / jasmine dom rich frags.

Scs

So easy going, fresh, a bit nostalgic in a good way.
I keep spraying this one as longevity is not so great but it is worth.

Air of Grace

As mentioned by many reviewers , this is the best name for a floral perfume. It conjures happiness chasing butterflies amongst beds of flowers .
And I have to say it’s a pretty , sweetly floral with low projection and weak longevity .
I do love this scent , not usually a fan of sweet perfumes but it’s really well made despite its lack of staying power .
It’s very popular and expensive but I feel not enough pull for me to buy a bottle .
Tried the body wash first to see if it fragrance entices me .

Change of mind . Comes across quite spicy on my skin . Graded as an “OK” scent for me .

iskander

Pure happiness in a bottle. Effortlessly pretty and natural. I am baffled as to why so many white florals like this fragrance are voted as highly feminine, guys enjoy smelling like nice flowers too!

adahn

This reminds me of childhood and happy times. I don't usually go for florals this straightforward but LCAP is just so cozy. Could be a great bedtime scent if one is into that.

Trtmtn

I generally hate dominant tuberose and white flowers, but found this one to be pleasant.

Loscar39

Review done after one day of wear with sample: I smell the orange blossom, heavily. Very smooth.
It does stay there, though, no layers, just a linear scent.
It also reminds me of a high-end, classy home candle.
The longevity is average.

violeteme

First of all, the name is perfection, so beautiful and magic. I love names like this. And the scent fits so well to it. It is pretty, but between two sheer, dainty, similar tuberoses, I like Do Son EDT more. They both smell angelic and like eternal beauty, but this eventually is more grounded and Do Son goes to those airy lenghts. +

Adjames

This is absolutely beautiful. Could be someone’s wedding scent. Light, romantic floral. Great for a hot summer day or Spring. Reminds me of my youth. There is an understated innocence aboit it, but can be worn at any age. Perhaps a bit nostalgic.

sleepy*weasel

A perfect "wear with a summer dress" fragrance, floral without any heaviness, just delightful. One of l'Artisan's best, and probably a steady seller, thanks to its classic youthful freshness and a mention in "Me Before You", which can't have done any harm. I love this and I have a cupboard full of furry musk and high incense. Go figure. 10/10 x

Tovah

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever smelled. I treasure it. My husband loves this so much as well. It's the scent of all the special times in our lives. It's sensual, uplifting, and it stays on his mind and makes him happy. I love to smell this on my skin. I never tire of it. It's the best of me in the best of times.

jazzyraspberry

This is a really beautiful white floral scent (I mostly smell the orange blossom) without that heavy "creaminess" you can often encounter with tuberose fragrances.
Smells understated, high quality, floral yet fresh, but not unremarkable.

AnlisaC

A few years back this was all the rage! I get it if you are a floral lover especially white floral. I can see where this is unisex, it has a masculine twist to it.

I decided to wear this today due to spring and the florals, at first spray I get a plasticy almost medicinal scent. It does soften in to a white/yellow floral. It goes back and forth white and yellow floral, maybe this is where the plastic smell comes into play. Now on me it fades almost in 10 mins after first spray and evens out from there on. Longevity is not the greatest and I had to respray after about 3 hours. Projection is ok I can smell it on me but it sits close to skin. I wish this were more heavy on me because I do like it. I do find that L’Artisan fragrances don’t last well on me such a shame because they are pretty. I’m giving this a 7/10 because of longevity and projection. Too bad 🙁

violetelle

My mum wears this. I find the lime very prominent. It’s not something I’m drawn to or that I would wear. It’s quite fresh and almost spicy/peppery, probably because of the lime. Also has a soapy quality to it. I wouldn’t say it projects much, it’s more of a skin scent.

Bouquet Bleu

I was advised this when I was looking for a summer field scent, but la Chasse is mainly about a fresh/green tuberose that opens with linden blossoms and a hint of jasmine. Maybe
I need something more aromatic. Imho this perfume is overrated.

scnofthcrime

A pretty, light hearted floral that. Like a cool spring day in a bottle where the air is still chilly, but the very first flowers of spring have started to bloom. Although I do like this, I do find it to be a little forgettable as another reviewer said. Nice, but not outstanding on me. Still, I would encourage others who are into dewy floral fragrances to test this as this is one of the classics of the genre.

ckorp8

Lime blossom initiated the flow of scents from the perfume. Tuberose followed very closely behind then jasmine. By the time orange blossom peeked through, the scents had all become a blending of tuberose and jasmine. The entire scent dry down to being white floral scent which is rather coy and sweet. I like the overall scent BUT do not think that it’s anything special.

spumyland

This is a tuberose complemented by other soapy white flowers, jasmine, light orange blossom and a triumphant opening of lime blossom that keeps the all too delicate composition alight.

Definitely calibrated, blunt, a honeyed thread, natural green with a calm, serene and retro accent.
The sillage and the duration are not his strong point, this is for you and those who are very close to you.
Easily forgotten for me, but a safe, quick, simple, sweet, fresh and above all intimate choice of a bouquet of white flowers.

eau de nath

A delicately beautiful fragrance. It reminds me of reading a book by the garden during a summer afternoon, while white butterflies dance along with the flowers and bushes. It can also be a painting of Claude Monet made into a perfume.

It starts as a light-soapy tuberose mellowed by jasmine, followed by a slightly green and quaint citrusy sweet yellow floral scent that daintily resembles a star anise characteristic; however, the drydown on my skin resembles a little of a warm honey-frangipani scent. I think it smells more white floral on the clothes rather than the skin. The white floral notes of this fragrance are consistent which makes it elegant and classically feminine.

QueenieIrenie

Delicate white floral fragrance. I had this about 6 years or so (in the old packaging) and it always reminded me of jasmine tea. Longevity left something to be desired, but it is an EDT. I did receive compliments when wearing so it projected fairly well. I know that there is an Extreme version that is an EDP, but there are some added notes in there. I love the simplicity of the original, it's really well-made, I'd just love for it to last longer, which is the only thing keeping me from repurchasing.

giri-boni

Tuberose, but a fresh one. Green, but not sharp. Very chic, light and pleasant. Very good perfume.

LizBethF

This fragrance is not one of my favorites by L'AP, in fact, I don't even particularly like wearing it. But when I do... something about it is so evocative.
It has almost no projection, as if this scent is really just for the wearer, but it puts me in such a pleasant state of mind: it is sweet without being cloying, shy without being insipid. Green and fresh and even at times a little peppery, like a peony. I find it delightful.
The whole experience is so ephemeral and yet, for me anyway, the tuberose lingers forever; I find myself sniffing my wrist days later sure that I am still catching a whiff of it here and there.
Can you be haunted by the ghosts of the flowers that make up a perfume? If yes, to wear La Chasse Aux Papillons is to agree to be the site of a haunting.

sallyming

Lovely. Smells like spring. The dry down reminds me of Gucci Bloom and TF Neroli Portofino and Fleur se Portofino.

huet82

Sample from LuckyScents. This is the first floral I'd buy a full bottle of! Since LS's samples are dabber style samples, I can't judge on sillage, but longevity was very poor. Strong tuberose and jasmine, without the jasmine overwhelming tuberose. The tuberose is also not screechy and play-dohy as it dries unlike HG's Moon Bloom. All in all, a lovely floral, even as someone who normally can't stand the headiness of most florals. Will likely buy a bottle someday.

TexasOrangeBlossom

This is gorgeous! I love the lime blossom, which blends so well with the other florals. It’s not unique enough for me to justify the niche price. However, I’ll be keeping my eyes open for a gently used or grey market bottle. Testing from 5ml sample.

Jacobean Lily

The smell of carefree innocence.
If I were inclined towards fluff, I might imagine this is what fairies smell like... but I'm an earthbound gardener and what I get is a cloud of honeyed blossom shot through with drifts of freshly-opened tuberose (that moment when only the very first tuberose bud in the cluster has opened up to the sun, but the others are still almost green) as well as orange blossom. Jasmine is floating around as well, creating the magic only perfume and memory provide when the scent of flowers which in nature exist in entirely different seasons are experienced at the same time.

This perfume is the olfactory equivalent of an old-school Dutch painting, where all the flowers from across the seasonal spectrum are depicted in one impossible bouquet.

On me it lasts for a couple of hours and that's perfect for me. I'm a perfume junkie who's always seeking a new olfactory rush, so perfumes which last all day end up being worn far less frequently than perfumes which allow fresh experience.

distillation:
bottled innocence
an impossible bouquet
like a Dutch painting

LaContessina

Neroli lovers know that this is a must have.
Spring in a bottle, if you need to define it.
La Chasse aux papillons evokes just this: A field full of herbs, flowers in bloom and orange trees blossoming, with a bunch of kids running with nets to catch butterflies.
It's an image of serenity and joy, and this is what you feel when you are wearing La Chasse.
I was instantly transported into this paradisiac fantasy land at the first opening notes: orange blossom with green herbs, linden blossom and pollens (watch out: this could be annoying if you suffer for allergy!), hay, a tiny bit of tuberose - very, very subdued - and luscious gardenia with a hint of honey in the end.
A joyful, flowery composition that cheers up your day.
The drydown is soft, smooth and sweet.
The only downside is the lasting power... can't smell the frag after 2 hours. Does not matter, I am willing to re-apply!
In anycase, this is FB worth!!

Adjames

Okay so here it is......this is beautiful, delicate and brings back memories of my youth....of my favorite scent of violets. The tuberose is noticeable, but not overpowering, and very well blended with the other florals. It is romantic and fresh, and screams warm Spring or Summer day to me. I will be purchasing a full bottle as my birthday gift to myself this Spring.

I compared this to the extreme version, but I felt the extreme was too airy and dry and detracted from the flowers in my opinion, but still very pretty. I still like the original better, and the tuberose is richer in it.

For any age and really, any time of year. The cold air adds a crispness to it while the warm weather makes it sing.

cocofluff

This is a lovely green floral with creamy rounded edges. It smells like spring.
I smell galbanum, lime blossom (which isn't nearly as sharp as I remember), and nondescript flowers.
Dydrown gets a little metallic so I wouldn't buy this one for myself but I like it now.
I have a sample now but I sampled this in Australia a couple of years ago and I recall it being forgettable. -

mewyq

Agree with others that the name is perfect for this fragrance. Makes me think of grassy hills and the time I walked down a street planted with linden trees with a mentor on a balmy day. I personally don't know a more true linden fragrance than this one.

ceilstrakna

What a lovely, fresh, greenish tuberose ... I assume the "green" is the linden. Alas, on me it pretty much disappears after an hour or so. Perhaps I should spray it on my clothing. Why don't fragrance houses sell bath and body versions of scents instead pushing out so many of those confusing flankers?

I agree that "chasing butterflies" is an appropriate name, since the fragrance flutters away before you can catch it.

Kristen_Marie183

This is pretty. The linden is the main player. I was on the hunt for a more indolic rich buttery sweet tuberose and jasmine, more animalic and this is none of those things to me, it's almost soapy?? It smells pretty, fresh, clean - to me.

denisa_iv

Chasing butterflies... what a beautiful name and so adequate for this fragrance.

I mainly get lime blossom (linden), which although supported by other white flowers (a little orange blossom in the beginning and then some tuberose and jasmine), still is a very distinctive note in this fragrance. Which is perfect for me, and exactly the reason why I like this perfume. Personally, I have never encountered another fragrance that smells of this tree, but the scent itself is very familiar to me as linden trees are very common in the country I grew up in. Sadly, not so much where I live now. When they are in bloom, just sitting under one of them for a few seconds will get you to heaven. My mom also has a special place in her heart for these trees and this perfume reminds me her as well, so even more nostalgic.

Otherwise it's a fragrance that represents perfectly the white flower genre. If you are familiar and you like them, you'll probably like La Chasse Aux Papillons as well.

Later edit:
I actually had to give this one away. I don't know if it went bad really fast or I've just found something artificial in it which bothers me now.

furryfleaae

It’s a soft and relaxing minimalist scent. It begins with a cool dawn, then the scent of orange blossoms starts to warm it up a sunrise. It continues mainly as delicate and natural white flowers. Enjoyable but nothing unique.

ziiish

I could bathe in this juice. This is probably the most beautiful white floral fragrance I have put my nose on. I have smelled many of them. So so beautiful,

mirrorghost

a pretty, soft white floral perfume. i get lime blossom and jasmine in the beginning, and i swear a hint of peppery lily as well, even though it's not listed here. the tuberose finally peeks out after being on the skin a few minutes. this is a really lovely sheer tuberose and lime blossom scent, nice for a spring day.

lyz_lyz

Very sweet dainty perfume that to my nose smells just like fresh honeysuckle in bloom but also with a slight synthetic quality that makes my nose tingle a little. Its poor sillage and longevity make this a miss for me but I like to spritz a little of my sample on the back of my hand now and then, for a treat.

Unfurling Blossoms

Beautiful, photorealistic florals, transluscent and airy like flowers in the distance. Well done! The Extreme version is beautiful too!

MannyOyson

After having this for two years now, I can safely say that despite having tried many more scents since La Chasse Aux Papillons is still undefeatedly one of the Most Beautiful Perfumes out there. It meets all classical notions of beauty: ethereal tuberose, dainty fairy-light lime blossoms, non-indolic sunny jasmines, the character of this fragrance can recall history’s beloved pastoral fairytales, Daphnis et Chloe or the dance of the Korngold fairies in Midsummer Night’s Dream (1935). In essence, its an unashamedly sincere depiction of the flower-wearing Ophelia girl archetype.

But i do have a gripe— it’s not really the perfume itself but to seek Only perfumes of the same Beautiful style because if all you have are similar smelling perfumes you could end up sick of it like I did.

Overall this perfume is great! Just don’t overspray. Even soft perfumes can be overpowering if overdone

Edit: After writing a review i relearned a lesson— longer does not mean better and short and to the point is good too! And as everything balance is key.

UPDATE 2021: I may have said that but have you tried Prive by Ormonde Jayne? Wedding bouquet-worthy and the same price as La Chasse Aux Papillons!

But especially DSH's Venus & Cupid-- which is a more dreamy Papillons, along with April Aromatics' Liquid Dreams, which is a more hypperreal Papillons and superior quality Lime Blossom perfume. And please try, which is now my favourite floral, Divine Gardens! I can't get enough of it!

Divine Gardens is now my favourite floral of all time, along with 51 Essence by Roja Dove. I'm glad I didn't give up on florals or I would have never discovered such an evocative, deliciously dreamy garden thing!

I ONCE again cannot tire of beautiful things. I suppose, the more evocative and viscerally physical in qualities the better!

molly1217

La Chasse aux Papillons L'artisan regarded as a very refreshing. Perfumers use a variety of white flowers such as tuberose, jasmine, etc., modulated and even butterflies will be chasing people running perfume. It is pure, good for a girl.

churinl

I have wanted to try this for ages. I found a great deal for a 1.7 oz EDT with matching body milk at a great price, so purchased it blindly, feeling certain I would at least like it given the notes. I received it today, and my initial impression is favorable. I love it, but that's not surprising, given my love for white florals. Is it ground breaking? Not at all. If you want a white floral, specially a tuberose, with a twist, the brand's Nuit de Tubereuse is one you should try. If you want a light tuberose and white flower scent appropriate for spring and summer, than this one fits the bill nicely. Although they do not smell alike, it calls to mind AG's Un Matin D'orage, in that a white floral normally thought of as heady and oppressive by many has been brought down a few notches, retaining the scent of the tuberose in this case and the gardenia in the other, but lightening them up enough to enjoy during warmer months without suffocating. In terms of longevity, that hasn't been an issue for me with the L'artisan scents I own, and though this is EDT, the body milk does make it last longer. I get about 5 - 6 hours. There is a slight sillage, but that makes it all the more wearable during warm weather. My favorite LA remains Drôle de Rose, but this cements my view of the house as a force to be reckoned with. Next on my list is Pasage d'Enfer and Mimosa pour Moi.
PS - the linden is what lifts the entire composition, and separates it from many other similar scents - ES Essence No. 9 for example.

JovanaT

This is nice, office friendly, white floral. I expected it to have a bit more character, but once I made piece with it I enjoy it very much. I wear this during winter exclusively, because it’s super crisp in cold air.

ViouAmara

Beautiful light and transluscent white flowers. It stars with shy linden and jasmine but quickly morphs into a delicate tuberose accord. Not indolic but stil slightly buttery. I had also the Ete en Douce of l’Artisan (mostly linden and thin yellow blossoms, could be the color of the air in summertime) and eyes closed, could recognize my Butterflies with this tuberose note.

Jez

I acquired a set of four 8ml spray bottles of Artisan scents in a set. This was one of them. Going in, I expected this to be in the line of 5th Avenue from EA, or Champs Elysees (not in terms of scent, but in terms of feel), but breezier. However, this is surprisingly spicy! I do know I am quite sensitive to various spices in perfume blends, so another person's 'suggestion of spices' may be a 'pretty spicy floral' for me. This one walks just the perfect balance between floral and airy and light, while still having a spicy, and dare I say it, slightly barely dirty edge (the spice must be cumin/caraway, since those translate as sweaty spices to my nose). Having said all that, I actually really love this one! For my nose, a perfect scent for transitional weather, like during September. I can see myself buying a full bottle once I finish the 8ml mini.

kiraagold

White spring flowers and more white flowers and jasmine and some white citrus-y flowers and some white summer flowers and tuberose.

Very high quality ingredients, and pretty, but I was the kid who ate her Crayolas because I wanted to taste the colors, y'know?

Lasts half an inch above the skin for an hour, and on cotton until laundry day.

kastehelmi

I am a reviewing a sample that is over 5 years old, I hope.this fragrance hasn't been reformulated.

The chase of butterflies is a very realistic summer floral, much more honeysuckle, orange blossom and linden blossom than tuberose and jasmine. As such, this is sharp, light and fresh. Naturally soapy. It's not particularly sweet, creamy, or sensual. No indoles, no muskiness. I like this and find it easy to wear, but I prefer florals that have a little something to soften the sharpness when the flowers are on the sharper side, that's why, apart from the best tuberose-heavy perfumes, most of my favorite florals are Floral Woody Musks or Oriental Florals, or perhaps they have a citrus counterpoint. Despite the rough fresh sharpness of this, I find it intoxicating...

llyn

I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with this creation! I've always had a few "fantasy fragrances" in my mind that I wished to one day find (or even create if I had to), well this is one of them....I've found it after all these years!

At first it's instant, realistic honeysuckle that blends into a smooth, light tuberose (the tuberose is just about identical to that of Alba Botanica's Midnight Tuberose if you're familiar; not heavy, intimidating or cloying). After about an hour I'm left with the tuberose on top of a bright linden. There's a bit of orange flower in there for the duration, too. No musks, no woods, no typical, heavy base notes. It's just sooo fresh and delightful and floral the entire time!

I sprayed my skin 12 hours ago and I can still smell tuberose, but only up close. The sillage in general is not strong...one has to be close to detect it.

It's been said before, but now I see that the best way to describe this scent is "sunny summer morning surrounded by flowers and dew". It's such a sweet fragrance, and I don't mean in terms of smell, but in personality. My new signature scent!

This was an impulse buy while living in Paris, l had never smelled a white floral as gorgeus as this one, l swooned. Unfortunately, when l started wearing it the florals faded away quickly and l was left with a sharp, peppery lemon that clinged for ages to my clothes. I gave it multiple chances but everytime it made me scrub it off and change my clothes so l don’t feel that pungent lemon anymore. Passed it on to my sister, La Chasse + her = winning combo.

taureanrage69

One of my favorites for late spring/early summer, and one of the only niche perfumes (if it's even considered that) that I decided to spend the money on. I bought it for the lime blossom, called linden where I live, and it delivered in spades. It's completely floral and doesn't last long, but wonderful when it hangs around. Lovely any time of year and I think for any age group.

Update 3/16/21: I still like this scent but find I tend to tire of it quickly while I'm wearing it. It's getting to the point where I'd almost rather smell it sprayed on something that doesn't follow me around everywhere I go.

what is this I don't even

Very beautiful. This has the potential to be a tuberose bomb, but the gorgeous lime/linden blossom adds tartness to keep it in check from becoming sickenly sweet while the orange blossom adds creamy smoothness. The tuberose opening fades pretty quickly and leaves behind a lovely lime-orange floral base. Like walking through a citrus grove in springtime bloom.

Bubbles1964

After the opening hit of tuberose, La Chasse mellows when linden blossom and a citrus note come out in the drydown and stay to the end. It’s overall agreeable, well blended (with no dominant note after the initial 15 minutes), and I can’t imagine anyone disliking this pretty spring floral.

Downfall is that it’s gone in 2 hours. Still, I really enjoyed both times I wore it, and considering this blend is 20 years old, La Chasse is not dated. I’m really curious how the extreme version compares.

Love this fragrance. It has staying power and provides deliciously well-balanced fresh floral scent for hours; not overpowering or too intense in any one particular accord. What I call my "happy" perfume and a good summer staple. Fabulous sillage as well.

synthetik_smurf

This is beautiful. It’s not heavy but has some staying power. Which is great because perfume seems to fade fast on me. It smells very fresh and springy. I would not say immature as in another review, but I do feel more youthful wearing it. I think that is due to the linden, the jasmine makes it feel a little bolder and thicker but not over saturated. I smell both notes equally.

It’s spring 2008. It’s my honeymoon and my husband I are hopping across Europe.
Today we are strolling down the Unter den Linden drag in Berlin, Germany. On either side there are perfect rows of beautiful linden trees.

The smell of mimosa walking in the country, a very realistic mimosa scent, just beautiful, heady, translucent, sweet with a green and creamy anis accord, very close to other white flowers family with a similar smell palette like the Syringa Williams and the common Lilac. Long lasting, great projection, very feminine and sexy but as a man I wear it privately at home. It doesn't smell like jasmine or tuberose, smells just like mimosa.

adrienn99

very underwhelming, prie-value ratio is too low. I'd recommend Avon Luck ...that 's 1/10th price, lasts longer and projects more. I'm yet to understand what L'Artisan as a house is about, other than the nice bottles.

apentias

I wore this when I was younger, so when my beloved stepdaughter, a young adult, asked for a bold and elegant flower theme, I knew this was for her. This doesn't float in a room, it prances. It is bold but innocent, just perfect for a beautiful young woman coming of age. It would also work wonderfully for an older woman of course, but I find it lacks a certain maturity. This attracts attention in a good way, with its unashamed strong flower character, but does not evoke those complex memories I like in a scent nowadays. Apart from that, I love this fragrance, it's truly a timeless classic.

M.r

Love honeysuckle and white flowers in general. This one is simply gorgeous and so elegant!
Yes longevity is poor but the feeling I have when I spray it, is magical.
It reminds me of Prada La femme L'eau. But la Chasse aux Papillons is less sweet and more natural to me.
I just don't like the name of it. Too cute for my taste.
I would wear this alone at home. It is not a compliment getter if you are a man. You will look weird honestly, just like most of floral scent I have to say...But if you are a woman, you will smell elegant and naturally beautiful!

shushkin

A very pretty scent but sadly the longevity is poor. To be fair the notes in this are really renowned for their limited longevity.
A lovely honeyed tuberose that stays bright because of the wonderful fresh linden blossom. There is sweetness from the orange blossom. A very well blended floral that is not heavy and cloying. I find florals can be tricky. I think the fresh dry linden blossom works it's magic and on me seems to dominate along with the tuberose and orange blossom. The linden blossom is the note that hangs in there to the end.
I would say this is a very feminine and almost a timeless scent. It's high summer in a bottle. I don't think I could imagine many women disliking this scent. A safe choice if choosing a scent for a lady.

justfloral

One of the best floral fragrances ever!

light tuberose + anise + linden (smallleaved and largeleaf) + trace of black locust. It possess an aniseedy, flowery freshness of sheets dancing in the wind somewhere on a vast meadow
Monet's "Woman with a Parasol Facing Left" wore it for sure.
But it isn't vintage, its modern, spacious and cosmic.

Tomorrow by Avon is heavier and more on the black locust side with citrusy nuances.

I was very eager to try La Chasse Aux Papillons because of the linden blossom note. I love blossoms in real life - they're so festive and emblematic of the middle of spring, that giddy, exciting time of year when everything comes to life again. And so far I'd only encountered orange blossom as a perfume note, so I was hoping to be taken on a walk through a blooming alley of linden trees with this one.
And I wasn't disappointed, or at least not after giving the big blast of tuberose that dominates the opening half an hour or so to calm down. When it does come out the linden blossom note is just as great as I hoped : natural and a little nutty, unlike any other floral note I've ever smelled, a little intoxicating. Wonderful!
It's just too bad about the opening - tuberose is a note I can take or leave, so in this case I would rather have skipped it and gone to the linden blossom straight away. Another minor complaint is the strength: after projecting nicely for about an hour (including the half hour opening I'm not wild about), this quickly develops into the kind of scent I keep forgetting I'm wearing unless my nose happens to be close to my wrist for some reason.
So all in all I think I'd like to try the Extreme version of this one - it might be a little stronger, I like the idea of adding some honeyed apricots to this note list, and above all the linden blossom seems to actually be the star of the show in that one. Which isn't to say I won't enjoy my decant of this "regular" version immensely in the mean time...

sunny5357

La Chasse, what have they done to you? :(

I have worn this fragrance since 2001, almost 18 years now. I have never not had a bottle of it. I am positive the formulation changed some when they went from the round cap to the square cap. This often happens to conform to IFRA but I think it is also done more often to cut costs and hope nobody notices. As soon as I smelled it when they updated the bottle, I thought to myself "Oh no, what have they done to you, where is the orange blossom?" I don't know about the new colored bottles, I haven't tried it in those yet because I purchased 3 of the 3.4 ounce the last time I bought it but I have little hope that it will be like the original. Those days are gone just like my beloved L'Artisan Vanilia by LaPorte.

I do notice on the L'Artisan website they now list the notes as Jasmine, Linden and Tuberose, nothing else. The original notes were: Notes: Linden- Flower, Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Jasmine & Citrus.

When I got my first bottle with the square cap, I still had a new bottle of the older one. As soon as I sprayed it I noticed it smelled MUCH more strongly of tuberose. I was not pleased but I realize sometimes the quality of the ingredients can vary but I still loved it but definitely not as much.

Now I'm wondering how much it has changed in the new colored bottles, if at all. Or if it perhaps is more like the original which I highly doubt.

When I first spray it now, I get pure nauseating tuberose and it is strong. Where did the initial scents of orange blossom, citrus & Linden go that were present in the past? It is a good 1-2 hours now before I begin to enjoy it as the tuberose finally stops blasting me in the face. Application matters too. Lightly spray it, crook of your arm, behind the knees or back of your neck. Douse yourself with it and it is nauseating, headache inducing and enough tuberose to last a lifetime, at least to me. I will order a sample of it in the newest bottle but I have little hope that it is different than the last one and nothing like the original. $159.00 for a sickening version of the original, I don't think so.

If I wanted that much tuberose, which I don't, I would just wear Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle because it is a lovely tuberose it you like that note.

thehanna

Citrusy blossom with creaminess of white flower but without any sharp or overwhelming notes on me. Not a lot of tuberose in this. Very sweet. Might be boring to some but is a pleasing daily scent which might be just what you are looking for.

gardeniapetunia

There is a distinct anise note here and that unfortunately ruins it for me. Otherwise, a lovely fragrance accurately described in all the poetic reviews here. I just don't like licorice in my flower garden.

bren400

I like this fragrance but am confused on which bottle to get. Can someone please tell me if both, the bottle with the pink and this smoky grayish bottle are the same fragrance inside, please? Are there different bottles to please both genders??? Any info is greatly appreciated, thank you!

KmiluK

Spring blossom. Very pretty. Very feminine. Clean and fresh. Not too sweet. Brings to mind the image of a woman in a tea dress wondering through a country garden on a bright spring day. Not my style but I like it as a scent.

Use_me_as_light

I love it. Sheer apple-blossom. And yes, I do smell some tuberose as well:) Longevity and silage are great, as for the "white-floral" perfume.

Mirabele

i wish i was smelling all the lovely things people say they smell here. this is just another tuberose bomb on me. when will i ever learn, tuberose is never going to work for me. this sounded like a lovely scent, summer, meadows and chasing butterflies. i was kind of expecting to meet summer of my childhood in a bottle. instead, tuberose bomb. my summer never smelled like that. glad it was only a sample.

Gemini12

From the first time I smelled it, La Chasse aux Papillons captured my heart. This perfume is so "me" that it just had to become my signature. La Chasse aux Papillons is sunshine and happiness and a big bouquet of fragrant spring flowers. Even though it's light and fresh, it's as appropriate with a pair of jeans and a white shirt as it is with a business suit.

As much as I like this perfume in the colder months, I adore it even more when the weather warms up as I find that's when it truly shines. I've never had problems with longevity, but I typically tend to be an undersprayer and gravitate towards lighter perfumes in general. This perfume is pure happiness in a bottle for me.

artemis16

I had high hopes, based on the reviews as well as a mostly positive test experience I'd had with the Extreme version. That one had a slightly plasticky vibe on my skin, so I thought that the regular version would be totally ethereal, as a lot of people have found.

Alas, it was intensely green with screechy orange flower, and that was it. No gauzy, transparent, wonderful fragrance for me, so I was thankful it was totally over within two to three hours.

Will stick with L'ete en douce, this works infinitely better for me as an uplifting, happy, ethereal scent.

skyelightfetish

Meh. Yeah, it's well done, yeah the orange blossom is lovely, but it's pretty nondescript really. And it hardly lasts 4 hours even as skin scent. While Eau Ambre I apllied to my roght hand at the same time is still pleasantly there these butterflies are all gone from the left hand.

Btw does the review by byggjan below reads decidedly creepy, or is it just me? As there are many balloons there.... and no, natural body scents are NOT similar to white flowers.

lemonlye

This scent is helping me verify that orange blossom is likely the number one most problematic floral on my skin, and tuberose is the number two. It has both. And to give L’Artisan credit, even with those being dominant, this isn’t a “hell no” on me; but it is a “no thank you.” The floral notes are done really well in this fragrance; they smell as natural as possible. But my skin (or maybe it’s my nose) refuses to work with them. A little too sweet, a little too cloying, perhaps simply Not Me. Makes me think of elderly female relatives, in a nice way, but in a way that isn’t my style; and also makes me think of the narcissus flowers at Easter, which are pretty but always smell a bit MUCH.

enigmaticessence

This is one of the few pure white florals that has captured me lately. I'd found what I loved and everything else has seemed a little uninteresting in comparison. Not so with this Warm and long lasting beauty!

The lovely orange blossom blends so well with the jasmine it seems like honeysuckle. As the florals develop and magically blend together, there is a fuzzy edge, the sun warming the edges of the end of summer, the ending of a perfect day. The not-too-sweet green-yellow vibe is airy and surprisingly dry. I think of gardenias, lily of the valley, and magnolias sun-baked, but placed in an arid climate as the day slowly cools.

This has a wonderfully natural floral feel, like Aerin Lauder, Jo Malone or even some Annick Goutal creations. But it's innocence can fool you. The animalic honeyed note adds interest and something else. I liked this from the first. But unlike many other floral perfumes, it grew on me more...and more...and more.

On me this has Good silage and longevity. I believe this would be great any time of year, but I'm craving it now, at the end of winter!

Beware: It is a man-trap!

India Oceane

A pale pink-yellow-cream silk veil of beeswaxy jasmine, lovely for layers, slips away quickly like the butterflies it's named after.

byggjan

My femal coworker used this perfume and I just had to get that for my wife. The smell triggers romantic feelings in me. I can go around my wife sniffing her neck all the time etc. Interestingly she and also my work mate do not feel the smell already after 15 minutes. But I do all the day. May be it is so close to a natural feminine smell that women get quickly used to it?
But the first 30 minutes it smells not so good, it is quite sharp but then after an hour it is just fantastic. It relaxes me and captivates me so that I just want to be near the person wearing this perfume. I told my coworker how much I love this smell, and she wisely stopped using it.

scarlett.angel

So I finally watched the film "Me Before You", and this is the perfume Will suggests that Louisa buys for herself when she is in Paris sitting in the cafe, in front of the L'artisan Perfumery during the last scene. Well now I am extremely curious about it! In fact I'm obsessed with obtaining a sample.

The description sounds delightful for spring. "Gentle and airy like the wings of a butterfly, this lovely fragrance mixes creamy tuberose notes and delicate tones of orange blossoms with hints of peppery spices."

littlemissferret

It's a love in a "likey" way, as odd as it sounds. For me it's the perfect innocent, safe, gentle frag for a mild spring day. That's exactly what it sets out to be and succeeds. It's not a scent you wear for impact or presence, but it's pretty enough to garner some offhand "you smell nice" comments, and more importantly, actually make you feel pretty. True blue femininity in a bottle.

PerfumedParrot

I've just sprayed La Chasse Aux Papillons over 10 times and it's totally lost on my skin. It's gone to absolutely nothing apart from on my hair where it lingers and it's been captured a little on my clothes. It's very pretty, but sadly it's a ghost that never haunts. L'Artisan perfumes nearly always let me down.

Kogitsune

For the LCAP edt, from the Coffret Miniatures you can get from Sephora, with Mure et Musc: I must be bad at recognizing tuberose, but the orange blossom and lime blossom is at the forefront for me, followed by jasmine, definitely white floral overall. Summer is ending hete but this is still a nice, fresh, and sunny daytime scent.

Box says:
"Chasing butterflies.
"A light, romantic and tender fragrance.
"Bergamot, jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose, lime blossom."

PerfumeEmpress

This is the softest tuberose I have. Fracas' quiet, well-behaved little sister. I don't get any jas, more's the pity. But I do get the lime blossom and, IMO, that is what tames the tuberose. A little too much, for my taste. In fact, on me this smells very mimosa, although there is no mimosa in it.

I much prefer the more intense kind, like Fracas (I don't do nice, polite scents well; give me the 'bad gal' scents anytime). Still, this is very nice.

Betsywoolbright

Maybe it's just the power of suggestion, but I'm sure I smell citrus/lime. (From the linden blossom.)
White florals are not my style, but I do have an appreciation for the artistry behind this lovely springtime scent.

annaariaalex

Tuberose is hit or miss for me, and this is a win. La Chasse is a clean and sensual tuberose, but not at first. Do not overspray!! The first few minutes may make you have second thoughts. Wait it out and then the linden blossom and honeysuckle balance out the tuberose. I seem to have many compliments while I wear this-the best one was-I was standing next to a famous football player (I'm from Texas so this is a big deal) and he whispered to his girlfriend "that lady smells great", I did not know it was me until she kept giving me the evil eye the whole time and then it clicked!! DH loves this too.

La Chasse Aux Papillion is a phenomenal scent, if you know how and when to use it. After reading the endless list of glowing reviews (on multiple sites), I blindly bought this in rollerball form. After a few months, here is what I can say about this fragrance:

1- As in real estate, location is everything. I have found that the crook of my arm and nape of my neck provide the right amount of heat for effortless projection. A flip of your hair or signing for a package can illicit a compliment from even the shyest coworker.

2- The best time to apply: post-shower and/or 5-10 minutes after applying unscented lotion or body oil. The right canvas is everything, especially when it comes to the longevity of this scent. Doing this extended the wear time from 3hrs to 6-7hrs on my skin.

3- Less is more. This is not a fragrance that can be abundantly sprayed. Most people respond favorably to the scent of LCAP-- I've received more compliments with this than any other fragrance I own-- but its sharp, floral tone can easily offend in large doses.

4- LCAP comes to life in warm weather. The linden and orange blossom are vibrant in the opening, then usher in a soft carpet of green grass and tuberose. It's a spring time jaunt through the meadow, carefree youth, and... chasing butterflies with a net. It begs to be worn on a sunny day and baked into your skin.
Side note: LCAP hates my skin in the winter. The opening is harsh, green and reminds me of the gasoline scent that I experience with Chanel No. 5 and ET White Diamonds. White florals peek through, but are overshadowed by the bitterness.

I find La Chasse Aux Papillion to be an elegantly earthy fragrance that needs the right conditions to properly bloom. In the heart of spring and summer, there are few fragrances that I enjoy more.

Scent: 8/10
Sillage: 6/10
Longevity: 5/10

This came to me in a blind buy set of 4. I don't care for floral scents overly much - particularly white flowers. I knew this wasn't going to be a win from the note breakdown. But.... I think I like it. I certainly wouldn't wear it often but I keep smelling my wrist. It doesn't come off as sweet on my skin so that is a plus, it doesn't have that floral, heady, jasmine & ylang ylang scent that I hate. I could see myself wearing this to bed if not out & about in the world.

TuesdayTaylor

Tranquil, approachable, serene, light floral. It's the colors pink and yellow. It's bridal showers and spring. It's the word "lovely." Quite possibly one of the prettiest fragrances ever created.

scentedrat

I mostly love this. I just have to be in the right mood and it has to be warm outside. In my mind, my Holy Grail perfume is a beautiful soft scent that makes me feel like I am bathed in flowers in the warm sun, but with the ground still damp from yesterday's showers. I'm surrounded by honeysuckle, and close by is a gardenia bush, as well as some flowering trees. Next door there is a rose bush I get a whiff of now and then. La Chasse "should" be my HG, and sometimes it almost is. I love the flowers and the sweetness, but sometimes it gets a little too bright and sharp. It's like it needs to be in a little shade and damp to tone it down a notch. Maybe a bit of moss. But sometimes it is perfect, and I can really smell the sweet, wonderful honeysuckle without a hint of sharpness. Then it's true love!

bren400

On initial spray, I smell a pungent lime blossom mixed with some harsh greens-not sure what I am detecting here. After 6-8 hours, the fragrance was the same as Orange Blossom by Jo Malone-which in fact, is in my top 25 fragrance collection. I must add, before this fragrance started reminding me of Jo Malone's Orange Blossom, Ralph Lauren's Lauren came to mind. I have yet to find out which notes this fragrance and Lauren shares.

OTAMom, you should really give this fragrance some time to develop, maybe about 30 minutes. It was super harsh in the beginning for me, and I was about to scrub it off myself. By mistake, I left it on while I was in the kitchen cooking for over an hour and a half, and when I came to find out, my arm was smelling nice. As it fades, it gets much better. So, it's definitely worth a 2nd try.

OTA Mom

The tuberose is so overpowering in the scent, makes me want to choke. Nothing in this fragrance brings to mind butterflies. A scrubber and going on ebay immediately, an extremely disappointing blind buy.

purpleturtle

This is such a lovely scent. Soft, graceful, elegant. A very "wide eyed innocent" type scent. Sillage is soft and it lasted about 3 hours on me. Would absolutely love this if it had a bit more projection and longevity. I have a mini bottle, but probably won't purchase a full size. Gorgeous, light fragrance, that has the perfect name. Happy smelling! :)

ntabassum92

Lovely, lovely floral scent. Soft tuberose and a very limey scent, which must be the lime or linden blossom. I've never smelled real linden blossom, but this makes me feel like I have. It's so happy. I really love this. I wish it projected longer, because I just want to smell this around me all day. The drydown smells like a lovely expensive soap - I want to bathe in this stuff.

abbyofthevalley

This was heaven to me at first whiff! I love love love the beauty and nostalgia I find in this scent! It's so unique, complex, and hard to describe... I cannot pinpoint just what it is that I love so much about it. Unfortunately it has very little staying power. Perhaps I will have better luck with this one in the warmer months. I do notice the infamous tuberose note but it is not at all offensive here, just a complimentary element to this perfect concoction. One of my all time favorites! I'm very interested to try out the "La Chasse aux Papillons Extreme" and see how it compares.

Dufteren

La chasse aux papillons is such a breathtaking beauty. By some she has been described as the perfect wedding scent, but I have to disagree, a bridal scent is to me the classic formal, elegant perfume that is somewhat restraint, like the wedding itself.

For me La Chasse aux papillons is quite the opposite, she is much more than a "pretty spring perfume", she is a untamed wildflower. Although the white flower notes are soft and demure, they still give the scent a spark of madness and sensuality, which only white flowers can do.

La chasse aux papillons is somthing you reach after with a longing, you want to catch her, but as soon as you think she is within your reach, alas she is gone.

HanamiTsukimi

My wardrobe was noticeably missing a classic, white floral. So I tried this in my mission to remedy that lack. Unfortunately, I didn't meet my match.

The lime combined the soapiness of the orange flower strongly reminds me of cleaners I've used. Maybe that's silly, but What can you do about olfactory memory? Also, there's something bitter in it. Perhaps the lime? It has the bitterness of fresh cut grass.

Not for me.

icingsugar

I'm not a tuberose or white floral fan generally...it's actually one of the few notes I can't usually stand. However, this fragrance is so subtle I actually love it. It is fresh and green in a way which makes me think of grass in the countryside or a garden. There is a little tuberose accompanied by a thick gloopy note I usually associate with honeysuckle even though it is not listed here. This is a really lovely classic scent.

FragFrog

Butterflies , butterflies . butterflies all over all day long ... It made me so happy ...

canny1234

This is the first Slightly warm day in spring in the uk hence time for late spring/summer scents. On first spray I get mostly Jasmine and orange blossom. Then the tuberose blooms along with the other flowers.I can't detect any linden blossom at all.I'm now predominantly smelling rubbery tuberose. The tuberose fades in the drydown which is a delicious melange of white flowers.
I recollect wearing this on hot days last year when this perfume smelt sweetly of Linden that bloomed in the warmth of a sunny day.I can only surmise that this scent needs warmth to show its true character.
This is a truly capricious perfume that is lovely all year round if you love Tuberose. If linden is your true love wear La Chasse aux papillon on hot days only.

cressit

La Chasse aux Papillons opens overwhelmingly green on me but soon developed into a medicinal scent. Eventually there was a ghost of a floral on the dry down but nothing special. It really must not agree with my chemistry.

MademoiselleMaya

From my experience, this is a fragrance that needs to be sprayed rather than dabbed. It likes a warm and sunny spring weather. It's a bit moody, sometimes it's shy, sometimes it projects well, sometimes it's all about jasmine, or linden blossom, sometimes it's Spring personified, projecting all the flowers and air and sun and life. Give it a try multiple times - it changes flowers like butterly wings change colors :)
I did not like it at first, then was shocked by awesomeness and spring-like happiness.

Dufteren

I received a 0.7 ml sample of this from Lucky scent.

And I have still no idea what it smells like, I could vaguely smell something promising when I put my nose to the skin, and then nothing.

I feel so left out, I am not included in the croud that can enjoy and praise this scent. I can not even write a bad review, exept that it has no silage.

Now I feel obsessed, what did I miss out on, maybe I should get a bigger sample.............?

zenbabylove

The tuberose is front and center! A beautiful, fresh fragrance that lingers of the outdoors, fresh earth, rain flowers lightly blowing on the breeze...lovely!!!

Nikkafragrance

This fragrance is an embodiment of its name! I can't wait for the spring to come and to chase butterflies in a forest with blooming trees, while wearing this gem! This is another tuberose love for me. I agree that Today by Avon is a cheaper version of this. Lime blossom blends very well with the beautiful accord of white flowers. This a great perfume for all lovers of tuberose, but it's not overpowering scent. Love!

Fhaldara

I just purchased a mini bottle of this, and what a lovely fragrance! As other reviewers have noted, its a very green tuberose with lime and a hint of orange blossom. My only problem with it is that it has short longevity and no sillage. I'm looking for the body lotion to layer with it - and think I'm probably going to buy a FB of it.
EDIT: Got a FB along with the body lotion which improves the longevity - there are very few florals that I like, but this one I love!

suzrwin

The Sandra Dee of tuberoses scents--La Chasse aux Pappillons opens with lime and tuberoses. It is joined by linden and orange blossom, which initially made me worry that it might tip the scales towards being too sweet. Ultimately though, LCaP gives me impression of being that woman in an impressionist painting surrounded by a field of flowers, with gentle sunlight streaming through my golden hair. Innocent, pretty, youthful, without deception. Definitely not a scent to lure your lover with. However, it has its place in a well-rounded perfume collection. Although I am in my 50's, I can see wearing this pretty scent on a warm spring day.

Lucy Peach

This is a pretty, elegant floral for Spring. Tuberose and lime blossom are dominant at first. I prefer it once it settles after a short while into a more gentle, delicate orange blossom which is beautiful.

Venusia

I've got a 5ml bottle to test. It' s sheer tuberose with fine hints of jasmine and lime blossom. My man made his first statement regarding a perfume from my collection: "Beautiful! You smell like spring!". No big sillage or longevity, but totally pure, delicate and inoffensive.

sfdla

To me, La Chasse aux Papillons smells like a nice summer floral.

I first tried it as a decant and wore it to work... an experience I remember vividly. I was getting breakfast and as I walked past his cafeteria register, big Mike let out a primordial roar. Admittedly this guy is prone to crooning jazz classics at the ladies, a cappella and utterly shameless. But it was one of those rare waking nightmares where absolutely every person in the vicinity stopped dead, turned, and stared...while he gushed at top volume about how amazing I smelled. I didn't buy a bottle or wear it to work again.

Years later, I ended up buying it. Maybe I've mellowed, but it's now the nice summer floral I wanted. Just the slightest nod to Fracas's tuberose with a playful feel.

I don't know that I'll re-buy, but it's a nicely crafted and (on me) linear floral.

BringUsAShrubbery

One of the better white flowers scents I've tried so far - This would be a nice addition to my collection.

RosieRachel

I first fell in love with the poetic name: La Chasse aux Papillons or 'The hunting of the butterflies.' I was overjoyed to discover that the perfume was equally as charming and romantic.

On my skin, there's lots of sweet creamy tuberose and I appreciate how it is not overpowering. The perfume is somewhat lighter in the dry-down as some clean smelling jasmine emerges. There's quite a soft projection (2h) on me until it faded to a skin scent and that lasted for another 6 hours.

La Chasse is the perfect fragrance for the warmer months as it's ethereal, pretty and especially suited to weddings or balmy summer evenings. Just gorgeous.

UPDATE: I love tuberose but when it's too heady and intense I get headaches. It is lovely in La Chasse because the jasmine tempers the tuberose so that it always remains soft, subtle and is much easier for me to wear.

soleia

Gauzy, ethereal, transparent...tuberose and orange blossom done lightly. There is no dark facet to this fragrance, it's all luminous and pretty.

It's what an ingenue or a debutante wearing a fifties' frock would wear.

I do not believe in age restrictions in fragrances, but I find this too innocent for my 40-year old self. Now if longevity and sillage were better, I might keep a more open mind. As it is, I think it's a beautiful, evocative perfume (lovely name, too) but not one I would wear often.

zayzay

Starts off strongly, but silage is soft after an hour or so. And it is sweeter than I thought it would be, but the zesty citrus blossom balances it out beautifully. First I get a blast of orange blossom, honeyed, not indolic, followed by tart linden and lemon blooms. Then comes tuberose, but not the creamy, heavy lidded variety a la Fracas. This is a much more muted version, bubblegummy, slightly green, even innocent smelling, made fresh by the lemon and linden blossoms. Safe for work, this one! I always wonder what 'floral notes' means when they are indicated in the notes. Which ones, exactly? Apart from the tuberose, I detect jasmine after the first hour, but it's fleeting as it disappears soon after.

A hint of still green tuberose, plus some other vague floralcy and linden blossom makes up the drydown, which last an amazing 10+ hours on my skin, and keeps fresh, breezy and softly sparking throughout (could this contain iso e super? If so it is a mere touch, or I would get a headache
from this!)

I can only describe this as a June morning in a bottle. Very charming. I love it!

Togiii

I have a weird feeling about this. Smells like balm or some kind of medicinal plant. A very familiar scent. I had this facial cleanser with cucumber. Reminds me of it.

Togiii

I had high hopes for this because the very first scent that I tested of this line failed me. But unfortunately this one is somewhat similar to that "Mure et Musk" scent. Another disappointment!

bibibling

Yep, it's pure tuberose. But I agree with other reviewers that it's a more green, dry, grown-up tuberose rather than a sickly-sweet syrupy cloying honeysuckle-esque note called "tuberose" *in air quotes* that I've smelled in other perfumes.

This brand has another perfume called Nuit de Tubereuse (which I haven't tried yet but I have a sample of it so it's on the to-review list.) Looking at its notes, I'm a bit flabbergasted that that one got the word tuberose in its name instead of this one. I've been sniffing at my wrist for 20 minutes and all I smell is very good quality pure, pleasant tuberose.

It's a very clean scent, perfect for daytime in the spring. I see light colored or white clothes while wearing this. The bottle has a pale pink label and the name evokes butterflies and that led me to believe this perfume would be more sugary and sweet which it isn't. In my mind a very pale warm pastel green label and maybe a dragonfly imagery evokes what this really smells like more. It's a big girl's perfume, not a prissy pink butterfly one for little girls.

esteban747

A green tuberose. The opening is green, almost like sap. Not floral at all or feminine floral.
It's quite linear, the green notes are clear, clean and natural.
The orange blossom is very light, almost unnoticeable.
It surprises me that this fragrance doesn't develop much, it stays pretty much the same the whole time.
If you are looking for a floral scent, then you'll be disappointed. But if you like clear green fragrances, almost with an aseptic vibe, then you'll probably enjoy La Chasse aux papillons.

Kitty48

The first thing that I noticed when I tried this was the smoke! According to the notes listed there is no smoke in there, but I can smell it.

It's exotic, sexy and intensely floral and it makes me think of faraway places. A dimly lit, smoky bar at midnight in some far flung place. A dusky maiden is just getting up to sing and this is her perfume.

I don't think the name is right for it though, the name makes me think of meadows in spring and that's not what this perfume is about.

I've looked at the various reviews for this and I see spring flowers mentioned - I don't get that at all, nor do I detect honey. Sadly for me I don't get enough linden so I may do as another reviewer suggests and try layering with Demeter Linden, which I do have.

It doesn't last long on the skin, but hey, I can reapply. All in all I like this one a lot and since I've been holding my cat while I write this, she smells gorgeous too!

I have problems with strong white florals, and to me, this is very, very strong. I get loads of tuberose and jasmine, and I think I'm going to have to scrub this off. I put one light smear from my sample dabber on the back of my hand, and it is overwhelming me. It is a floral screamer. I see a lot of people appreciate this scent, but I am not a part of that group. In my lexicon, this is what gives perfume a bad name. Sorry to those that love it, but this is the epitome of what I need to stay far away from in a perfume; it's making me a wee bit queasy, gotta go scrub!

Madalina Buleandra

Reminds me of Do Son Diptyque. A soft and pleasant flowery perfume as well.

CrystalLullaby

This is softer than I expected it to be. I don't smell any tuberose... I smell jasmine and soap, but really nice soap. When I first put it on I was thinking it really reminded me of something, but couldn't think what. And I think (but I'm not 100%) it's the jasmine soap that Lush used to sell in the late 90's/early 2000's. I can't remember what it was called now, need to google it!

Lush Alkmaar soap!

freakypirate

Opens fresh and green with soft florals. The florals pick up speed, the greens disappear completely, leaving a sweet floral scent. Jasmine and orange blossom are standing out the most for me and become slightly indolic on my skin. Very pretty! I don't get much linden blossom from this. During drydown the tuberose becomes a bit more apparent but it's never loud.

This scent is very linear on my skin and it doesn't change much after the above. It's a soft skin scent and it smells very delicate. The drydown smells a bit fruity on me.

It's not much of an adventurous scent though, I usually like my perfumes to have a little "oomph" and this one might just be a little too well-behaved and innocent for me. Not sure if I can pull off so much inoffensiveness!

All in all, a very beautiful eau de toilette! I understand the bridal fragrance references. I'm curious if the Extrême version has that oomph I'm looking for!

CeceliaHuynh

It's a charming scent of fresh flowers. It's very likeable but I didn't find it very distinctive like other Artisan fragrances.

Lana148

This is a Holy Grail of white floral!

The combination of tuberose/linden blossom is just irresistibly beautiful. My favorite white floral fragrance, very feminine and romantic!

Spring in a bottle!!!

Morely

Very feminine perfume. Almost exclusively jasmine on me. Very close to natural jasmine smell. That's why I like it so much. More of a night perfume for me. Not quite sure why but for me it sounds better in winter.

katushka37

I fell in love with La Chasse aux Papillons when I blindly bought a shower gel. I remember opening the box and geting acquainted with gentle white floral scent.

I new that a perfume was a must-have for me for I finally got my hands on one...I was a bit disappointed because I got a heavy load of tuberose (nothing agaist it just wasn't something I was expecting)...I waited for it to setlle but it was still there after good 30 minutes...I was ready to give up on this scent and even created an ebay listing...I went for a walk later that day and wind was blowing my hair in my face and I've noticed that beautiful getle white floral scent I fell in love with...I got my phone out and cancelled my ebay listing straight awaw...it was definitely a keeper.

If tuberose scared you the first time round - give this scent another chance! The drydown is stunning and well worth the wait.

Neodymium

Light, pretty, sparkling white florals. Very feminine. The name is well suited.

StellaDiverFlynn

Upon spraying La Chasse aux Papillons, a gentle redolence of tuberose and linden blossom comes out to greet my nose. But soon, it's the linden blossom that dominates the first hour of LCaP. The linden blossom is bright like sunshine. Its citrus nuance is sparkling, sweet, event a bit sugary at times. Fortunately, there is also a subtle herbal, grassy nuance cutting through the sweetness and adding a natural, vegetal touch.

Later, lightly honeyed orange blossom becomes more noticeable, making a smooth transition from dazzling linden blossom to the final drydown of silky, creamy tuberose, gardenia and jasmine, like the serene moment resting in the flower field after a vigorous but harmless chase and playing with butterflies.

La Chasse aux Papillons wears very close to skin, and the longevity is around 6 hours. Granted, the performance of LCaP could have been better, but its sheer texture does help to prevent the scent from being too heady. La Chasse aux Papillons is not that original, but it's idyllic, innocent and pure, irresistably pretty and utterly enjoyable. As a white floral for casual and daily wear, La Chasse aux Papillons is probably one of the prettiest options available. And for those who usually shy away from white floral, La Chasse aux Papillons is also a good start to redeem one's affinity to this category.

houzi

On me it's mainly tuberose lined with some linden blossom that gives it a subtle honey touch. Tuberose is the only note I smell straight away, even before I start concentrating on the scent. Not the statement tuberose that makes you gasp for air, but a very polite and breezy version of the note. To my nose it does have a little of that pollen-y richness though, so I wouldn't necessarily call it sheer. I feel like the other white flowers are there mostly to help the tuberose shine, they melt in seamlessly.

This kind of composition could easily become a heady beast, but it takes on a very different character instead: soft, pastel-light, pretty. It feels innocent, like holding hands for the first time, but full of promise, because now your hearts are giddy with anticipation of the kiss that will follow in time.

I don't think it's very special, but not all perfumes have to be. Sometimes I just want to feel dainty and sweet, and La Chasse Aux Papillons seems perfect for the job. It may not be challenging, but it never feels boring or lame.

Very wearable, hard to overdo. Lack of longevity is an issue, but maybe it goes with the subtle spirit of the perfume.

Dinkum

Tuberose is tricky. Many - most even? - scents thats primarily about tuberose are not easy to wear in public.

This will be my to-go tuberose. Will be perfect in summer, although I´ll try in in winter too... An nice and well behaved tuberose that won´t offend people. Not a "meh" scent, though. This really is a lovely little gem :)

Briarthorn

A beautiful Tuberose Solifleur. It's a bit linear but that's okay because it's lovely. It never gets sharp and is a creamy. I don't really get anything else in it besides the tuberose, either because it's just that well blended or because that's all I can get out of it. Not sure which.

It's pretty short lived, about 4 hours and it wears close to the skin.

waternight

Very white-floral – heady tuberose with a strong support from creamy gardenia. Periodic whiffs of lime blossom, and the suggestion of indoles. I would swear I smell white sandalwood as well. Nothing sharp or spicy about this scent – everything is very smooth and creamy and gently blowsy. So much so, in fact, that I kind of want a bit of spice or resin or pepper. As it is, it’s lovely and warm and Southern, and I appreciate those qualities, but it’s rather tame. Maybe it’s supposed to be! I’m fine with that. But I’m curious to see what it would be like with a bit of pink pepper, or nutmeg, or a touch of frankincense. This is a sleepy, dreamy scent. Apparently this is a popular bridal scent, which definitely makes sense if you're going for the whole "innocent virgin" thing.

Liora c berer

Love it!!
Baught in italy and counting the days to travel again to have another bottle...
They dont sell it in brazil!

clair de neige

All I smell is jasmine.

NinaSPakdi

I was really convinced that this would be a great true white floral from the notes, but a bit lighter. It was what I expected at first smell but then it turned into something that didn't smell like white florals on me. Not to mention the lasting power was horrible for a $150 fragrance.

I would definitely say that this is NOT a blind buy perfume!

woodlandwalk

Well, I know now beyond any shadow of doubt that I loathe lime Blossom!

I like the tuberose in this, and on opening the softness reminds me of Drole de Rose. I found it velvety, almost suede-like. I was enjoying this savoury creamy-textured quality. Then an hour into dry down a germolene hospital/medical note became more pronounced. Like an old shabby fabric band-aid. Depressing.

I used to work in a hospital, and I remember having to check an old part of the hospital that was about to be closed down. It was the most depressing part of a depressing job. I took weird arty photos to make it more bearable, and if those photos had a smell this would be it.

AnyaZ

This is a lovely, light scent, which is discrete and light enough to wear to work without upsetting people, or just for fun. It can go from day to night, though it remains girly, like a white gauze dress twirling from a dance or a breeze. Although the tuberose is there, it is not heavy or old-lady-like, but rather like a spirit accompanying you on a stroll through an orange orchard. What people are describing as "linden" is actually the tuberose, though not macerating in the shade, rather this is the blossom opening up just a little into brightness and sunshine. The sillage reminds me of a fresh bouquet of lilac in the Spring--pleasant, but not too heady. What is best about this fragrance is that it is original and very unlike the modern commercial scents with their plasticky melon/cucumber bit, or the even worse slight burnt plastic impressions (think Jennifer Anniston; nice person; yucky fragrance). This EDT is a beauty and gives me much delight.

hippiechick13

A lively, captivating, feminine, bright, high-tuberose scent. Unapologetically girly, coy, confident, mischievous.

Museumgal

Light, very green tuberose with a lot of linden. This is not your usual overwhelming white floral. It is very delicate, crisp and gentle. Good for the office, not offensive or at all strong. The sweetness of the florals comes in after the green opening.

brightstar

Wearing La Chasse aux Papillons I'm picturing myself like Alice in Wonderland between the flowers and the butterflies. I get orange blossom, lime blossom and jasmine. It's very rich, maybe too much. I can't imagine wearing it on a daily basis. That's why it has a poor longevity, because it's something precious you put on when you are all alone with yourself and want to be carried away to another world. Like other L'Artisan fragrances La Chasse aux Papillons it's more a piece of artwork than a perfume.

WendyMH

Dancing light-filled gorgeousness. La Chasse aux Papillons is one of my all time favourite scents. Very girly, filled with flowers - I can see the butterflies fluttering as it spritzes from the bottle. There's something a touch different about this perfume from other florals - perhaps the somehow light take on tuberose. Love florals and haven't yet smelled anything that would be a twin of this. Unique. Gorgeous.

LesleyA

I just dabbed on my last precious drop of my sample. Sad face.
Happy face however, that I am right now blissfully surrounded by one of the most scrumptious, natural-yet-straight-from-fairyland, floral bouquets my nose has ever enjoyed. Mmmm. Honeyed, silky white petals, pollen, and if the sunshine on those magical, low-humidity, zero-haze, and everything is sparkling days, that pop up from time to time, had a scent... it's in there too. I know I'm offering no new info, but when a scent makes me this joyful, I like to talk about it. :)
I am a linden lover, and in my opinion, the linden note does not stand out, yet it ensures that what is to me, a mostly tuberose perfume, stays polite, light and ethereal.
This is just flowers. Nothing added, nothing synthetic.....nothing but petals. Simple, but done so beautifully. Exactly what I gravitate towards.
I'm a sucker for compliments on my perfume. It's not why I wear perfume, but knowing I smell pleasant to others is a day brightener, and honestly ups my opinion of the fragrance. I wore this yesterday to the dentist, and when he was finished checking my teeth he thanked me for making his job easy with my already clean teeth, and "smelling amazing.". The hygienist chimed in in agreement, and I proceeded to blush, happily. He asked for the name and says he has plans to purchase it for his wife.

I was planning on ordering a nice little decant due to the price, but when something is this good, I do think a full-bottle splurge might be in order.

Aaredhel

Not bad... not good... not for me.

gul_twinkle

It is very pungent when you first put it on- I am not exaggerating but to me it smells of b.o.
I love some of their scents. Except the figuier one, one can not wear them within a social situation. . I love theDzonkha but once again it is an unpleasant smell for at least ten minutes. I can only wear it at home...
The chasee papillions turns in to a sweet powdery pleasant scent after ten minutes on ones skin. Then it is wonderful. However one can only smell it faintly as it has become weak and unnoticable ( extrem as well).
I think the Artisan team design these deliberately to put us through turmoil and repulsion- only to remind us that it is a part of living to the full... ; p

surfergirlpuppy

Nice at first. A very light linden blossom. Then fades to nothingness on me.

originaldeftom

Beautiful scent and yes I do get the Bridal connotation.
It is actually a very pleasant tuberose (that normally is not my favourite flower albeit I slowly admit to taking a liking to it...)

Big fanfare of a white flower opening and whilst using standard white florals, it is the composition that creates something rather abstract and new....and quite wonderfully so...sadly not long enough as remarked in most reviews here, the sillage and longevity is somewhat poor, however there is something 'moorish' (english for yummy and very palatable) if not gourmand in the dry down, almost reminiscent of sugar powdered edible paper or wafers, somewhat floral-vanilla.

I love the concepts and ideas of most L'Artisan scents but I wished they lasted longer and were stronger.

Perhaps we should all refer to the 'extreme' version of the fragrance?

Compared to all the bad tuberose perfumes out there, still very worth buying......and yes that also goes for men! (love it on my skin)

CoolBreezes

This is an ideal spring signature scent, and would make a lovely bridal perfume.

Of all the florals I've tried, this one has a complete absence of harshness and indolic influence. That's why it smells so good. It is not a deep perfume, but it's very rich. Not a screech or cloy in sight.

One good spray stays light, joyful and womanly for at least 8 hours on my skin. I've been wearing it everyday to the office. Bueno!

evesoho

I ordered a small 5 ml decant after using a 1 ml sample in a flash. I'm very picky with tuberose and gardenia, so I was so surprised to fall in love with this. Still, I couldn't wear it every day - special occasions only.

It's so romantic, that I prefer to wear it at night. Champagne, viognier, rose, or chamomile tea is the wearer's drink of choice. Oh, and absolutely a white dress, like cake 'n cuddles says. During the day, I can hardly take myself seriously enough wearing Papillons.

The opening burst has a fruit candy note that reminds me of a scented doll I had as small child. That must be the linden blossom (?), but it goes away in a mere minute.

I'm surprised that everyone decries the longevity. Have you ever tried to catch a butterfly? Or watch a butterfly? They flee... so quickly... Butterflies seem mythical for this reason.

On my skin, the scent lasts 2.5 hours on the outside of my forearms (where there's hair to grab it) and while the sillage is soft after the opening, it's along the moderate side of soft. I certainly don't mind reapplying, because I enjoy the enchantment of the opening. At 3 hours I can still detect it, but the sillage is right next to my skin. Update: 8 hours later and my skin still smelled like La Chasse... it was as soft as possible, but my skin was obviously scented.

This perfume is meant for spraying in hair and on clothing in addition to the usual spots. Touch up with one spray/dab later if you like. Combine this thorough application with the use of La Chasse... body milk and/or shower gel (available on ebay) and you're golden. *You* are the butterfly being chased. Please note, I'm not one to recommend bath and body products based on perfumes because I usually find them overpriced and redundant.

I believe that La Chasse aux Papillons perfume and the corresponding bath and body products are all worth the price. Sadly, I can not afford to wear all these products the way I'd like to. Even if money was no object, I couldn't justify the purchase because spring in Ontario is so brief, and summers are too humid for me to wear tuberose (I'm picky). It just doesn't seem smart. I'm happy for now with my decant, though.

Update: 3 sprays lasted a beautiful 6 hours on me last night, although it felt a bit strong for the first 20 minutes. :)

p.s. Spray directly onto skin in close range, no more than an inch away. Do not do the "spray into the air and walk through". This may fix the bulk of the longevity issues.

Update: I was wearing this perfume when I went to an outdoor concert... and discovered that someone I know has a crush on me. I didn't think he thought much of me... but he hugged me a certain way, stared at me from across the green, and the person he was with kept looking at me with curiosity and a certain kind of knowing. When he spoke to me, he inadvertently gushed, then seemed embarrassed... my heart went out to him. He is a very lovely man and I'm really flattered. Now, whenever I wear La Chasse, I'm reminded of how sweet and surprising people can be. (Although I wasn't wearing a white dress, I was wearing an ankle-length black pencil skirt and a white linen button up shirt over a white lace camisole, with the sleeves rolled up and top 3 buttons undone).

** I've been layering La Chasse with Demeter Linden blossom. It's utter beauty. My baby niece grabbed my arm and started tasting it. Luckily, she doesn't have teeth yet, lol!!

Update: I finished 6 mls this summer easily - so I bought the 50 ml bottle. When I look at the new reviews above now - I'm so excited Lesley A loves this. I just knew it would suit her!

PricklyAndHot

More light than heavy floral fragrance. I would say that it smells more a tuberose note. Also it smells orange blossom a little bit. But speaking about linden blossom, I can't even closely compare it to a truly linden blossom scent in French Lime Blossom by Jo Malone.

This fragrance is rather good than bad, but it's not my cup of tea.

maelleinrome

I have yet to find an Artisan fragrance that I like...Maybe this brand doesn't get along with my skin
:( This one smells like mushrooms sauce on my skin. Nothing more, nothing less o_O

cloudberry

Lovely light perfume, which dances off my skin just like the fluttering butterflies of its name. I'd give this as a gift to my 13-year old daughter to wear to her first high-school dance. Pretty fragrance for pretty little girls. For a sexy grown-up lady, it disappears before I've finished putting on my makeup, leaving no trace but the memory of how much it cost. :) Very pretty scent, though.

raw umber

La Chasse aux Papillons is a virgin bride in a bottle.

It's Summer (of course) and I can almost see the yellow pollen floating in the air. Beyond the linden and orange blossoms, there is some other element in this composition that makes the whole thing seem a little faded-out, like one of those small, antique photographs. It's like a half-imagined memory.

It's definitely not stale but it's also not exceptionally fresh in the way Jo Malone's Orange Blossom is fresh. Maybe it's too romantic to be fresh? Still not exactly sure what the deal is.

This fragrance is not too light, but it is definitely locket-sized. If something can smell romantic and innocent at the same time, this is definitely it.

The SA at the L'Artisan counter at Henri Bendel told me that La Chasse aux Papillons is a very popular fragrance among new brides. I can see why.

It's a fragrance for real life Disney Princesses, but without all of the marshmallows, spun sugar, and CGI florals that one might normally associate with the word Disney. If you want to convey a celebratory life-loving personality, but still come off as lady-like and without the CGI fireworks overhead, this is your juice.

antfarm

This is incredibly pretty and innocent; it reminds me of opalescent colors and a baby's first smile. As floral as it is, there is absolutely nothing overpowering, polleny, powdery, or sneeze-inducing. It really does smell like being outside in the spring with a bunch of butterfly-attracting flowers, along with a warm and subtle breeze.

Normally tuberose and other white florals morph into the scent of nail polish remover or buttered popcorn on my skin, but I don't get that nastiness at all here. So delicate. Not much lasting power or else it would definitely be on my wishlist.

Cereza

This is lovely. I waited for another tuberose which I will surely enjoy, but La Chasse aux Papillons delivered much more than that.
The first sniff is tuberose for sure, but after few seconds it becomes overpowered by lime blossom which I simply adore. The scent is very natural and smells wonderful, it is not as good as other lime blossoms I've tried, but it's is pleasing of course.
At the heart part it still is dominated by lime blossom, the background is a lovely mix of creamy and tropical tuberose and indolic and sensual jasmine. The thing I like the most about the heart part - the greenness of lime blossom balances the sweetness out perfectly.

A lovely and summery scent. Short longevity and silage though, so I wouldn't spend my $ on a bottle, but it was a good sample and I enjoyed trying it.

mejohann

Oh my goodness this was awful. I am astounded that this must smell good on some people. All I got was rotten salad dressing both in the bottle and on my skin. It didn't even change at all after time. Just more rancid salad dressing.

Gabi310

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...La Chasse Aux Pappilons is a tantalizingly beautiful, delicate and layered floral composition. The opulence of the heady and buttery tuberose is tamed here and turned into a narcotic, ethereal veil by the vibrant orange blossom and by the freshness of the unmistakable linden blossom. It's feminine, soft and super elegant. An ode to joy and to eternal spring. Great longevity on my skin. An absolute MUST HAVE in my collection!

rickyrebarco

This lovely scent reminds me of a summer evening in the twilight chasing fireflies while the grown-ups talked and drank iced tea in a freshly mowed yard with lots of summer flowers blooming and honeysuckle blooms in the hedgerows.

The more I smell this amazing juice the more it reminds me of fresh honeysuckle blossoms. Now I can enjoy summer all winter without the heat and humidity!

aidauzemljicuda

It's a shame that I almost have to go to France to get one.

MrsLetterO

This fragrance is much loved... and I really wanted to try it although it's quite different to the notes I usually wear. Sadly all the adjectives used to describe it were not my experience. Like Mals86 who reviewed below after the opening which was some rose and blossom it went totally "bathroom cleaner" on me. A slightly acrid piercing lemon/lime that you get on washed floors... this was further highlighted by a much loved creamy soft fragrance that I wearing on my other arm.
I carry on trying L Artisan to find the one for me...

tbozzo

Beautiful, creamy, lush but light floral. It's hard not to love this one. On first smell it brings back the memory of a perfume my mother bought me in grade school years. I can almost picture the bottle round, flat, used to sit on my filigree mirror perfume tray. I have no idea what it was, but this smells like my memory, and it brings me joy. I Might have to get a full bottle because it just makes me smile...

BelAria

This scent is light as a feather, whisper soft and full of inner joy. Transformed into Primavera the goddess of spring, the early white blooms of the season dance on the wind in your wake. Bellissima!

daniela3

Gentle, sweet, poem it makes me think about a French film: "Une dimanche à la campagne" by B. Tavernier. I love particularly the E.d.T. - more than the Extreme, as the latest lacks all those pleasant linden notes that made 'La chasse' an outsider fragrance when it was first released. If only it lasted longer......

ralucucky

If you like tuberose, you'll definitely like this perfume. I loooove the name! Pleasant.

missk

I was initially surprised by how sweet this fragrance was. La Chasse aux Papillons (beautiful name by the way), is very girly and pretty, and in regards to that I find it truly lovable.

In the initial stages, La Chasse aux Papillons reminds me of the scent of sugary bubblegum. This fragrance is quite strong at first, but as it settles it becomes much quieter. The tuberose is of the friendly and universally likable kind. It's neither too creamy nor too floral. Bois de Jasmin described it well, "a mist of bright floral notes, underpinned by the coconut sweetness of tuberose". Essentially a sweetened white floral in a slightly different vein to what you may be used to.

It evokes something within me, perhaps a childhood memory, a desire to run in the Spring fields wearing a pretty, pink fairy dress with sparkly wings attached. Okay, so La Chasse aux Papillons may not be the most mature fragrance on the market, but it sure does delight me with its imaginative and juvenile nature.

It is indeed a very happy and fun-loving fragrance, one that I'd recommend as a niche for young girls and the super feminine types. I do believe, that even someone who doesn't usually like white florals will be impressed by La Chasse aux Papillons.

The longevity is so-so, not incredibly lasting but also not too disappointing. The sillage however is very close to the skin, which can be a good thing especially during the warmer weather of which this fragrance is best suited.

Carabella

This perfume smells so realistically of summer blossoms, that if you wear it, you will confuse bees.

emily7

This in an idyllic Arcadian meadow on which have miraculously met: linden blossom, jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose.
Above this perfect white flowers meadow - yellow butterflies in ecstasy.

Perfume that has the power to instantly cheer up and to evoke most beautiful childhood memories.

Lasting power is not idyllic at all, still it's not diminishing the beauty of this heavenly papillon.

xabaras

Tuberose is all I can detect from beginning to end. A bit boring although tuberose can be so annoying to me that it gives me headache, and this one doesn't as it is dryer than any tuberose scent I've ever been testing. La chasse aux papillons makes me think of a big field full of flowers on a warm and sunny Spring day, close to a pond where some undetectable flower is starting to rot... Not for me.

Tovah

Absolutely beautiful. The perfect linden orange-blossom fragrance.

jasminejzhu

Clean but a pretty and sweet floral, so well-blended on my skin that it felt as if there was only one note.

kirsty the beauty

im not a great perfume lover but this is defently my favourite!
i smell jasmine, lime and orange it is the most beautiful scent i have ever smelt!!!

La Chasse aux Papillons was the theme music that followed me throughout my early twenties: A pretty jasmine, linden, and tuberose tune. It's the perfect spring perfume. "Winsome" would be the perfect word to describe it. I went through two bottles of it. It's a little too young for me now, but I love to smell it on others.

La Chasse aux papillons is a great natural clean non-aggressive and a bit breezy summery tuberose perfume.
The start is clean, a bit dewy green(in a leafy plant way) tuberose scent, it’s much airier than most tuberose I’ve smelt. It feels like white, clean flower bouquet a bride might have for a summer wedding.
Soon after, it gets slightly sweeter with a little bit slight rose-y undertone. It feels warmer, feminine and reminds me a bit of well blend rose-tuberose flower luxury body cream, it’s quite velvet yet clear cut and goes to your nostril directly and evoke a somewhat modern-nostalgic déjà vu summer night feel.

Towards the final dry down, La Chasse aux papillons smells sweeter, warmer, even with a bit osmanthuns fruity sweet tart golden flower smell. Maybe because I’m Chinese and osmanthus is quite a popular flower here in the eastern part of China, somehow this perfume to me smells of autumn afternoon when it’s not too cold yet and when I walk back home from school, smelling the osmanthus from most gardens of other people’s. It’s somehow a quite weirdly refreshing experience, because I somewhat find osmanthus somewhat striking in between overly sickly sweet and sweet juicy/refreshing in an oriental way.

What a dreamy and delicate composition this is!
Light and refreshing, perfect in spring or summer. L'artisan parfumeur couldn't haven chosen a better name for this lovely perfume: chasing butterflies.

"La chasse aux papillons" evokes images of running around in blooming gardens, chasing butterflies and being caressed by their fragile, little wings while the aroma of blooming white flowers fills the air.

Like a butterfly this scent is beautiful, delicate, colorful but unfortunately it's also fleeting.
However, once it'll catch your attention, you'll try to keep it around you as long as you can, even if it means you have to respray every 2 hours :)

Simple but lovely!

Beautiful, simple fragrance. The epitomy of "pretty." Smells like tuberose and jasmine, connotes innocent happiness and gentle, natural beauty. The whole experience is VERY soft. It did not last long on me (less than 30 minutes) so for me it is just not worth the money. Beautiful but fleeting! Like a momentary soft breeze.

Wandering alone to enjoy a lovely afternoon in a garden full of fascinating white flowers, birds are chirping, and toddlers are chasing butterflies. Simple but not superficially adorable, it's the core value of Dolce Vita for me. Have a huge crush on it.

Don't know why I bothered sampling this- I don't really like white florals, and none of the other notes are really my thing either, but I guess I got caught up in the hype of this. Oh well I can put my curiosity to rest now. It's a sweet honeyed tuberose. Nice but not for me.

floriana

Very soft, tender, warm and romantic. One light tuberose lives in amazing harmony with jasmin and orange blossom.
This is "pastel" blossom, pleasant and unobtrusive, ideal solution for warmer days, full of blossom colors and ideal for those who don't like strong flowery scents.

Passionflower

All I smell is jasmine. Which is fine if you love jasmine, but as a perfume it's not that exciting to me unfortunately. I would sprinkle some in my closet to make my clothes smell nice though. Hmmm, maybe it't a bit too expensive for that.

L'Artisan Parfumeur LA CHASSE AUX PAPILLONS opens big with megaphonic mostly white florals, with tuberose looming large. I initially thought that I detected violet as well, but it didn't persist and is also not listed as a note. The linden blossom has a minimal presence to my nose, so overall this hits me as a sweet tuberose perfume.

However, what starts as a pretty standard Big White Floral strangely fades in exponential proportion to the passing of time with the result that the composition has dwindled to nothing in less than two hours. I find the loud opening a bit contradictory to the fleeting nature of this fragrance, which, while a certainly pretty composition, does not hold a candle to FRACAS, an admittedly tough act to follow.

What we have here is essentially a Charybdis or Scylla situation: Those who prefer more subtle floral fragrances will be put off by the opening; those who like big bad florals will be disappointed by the half-time sillage and poor longevity of LA CHASSE AUX PAPILLONS.

Dreamy orange blossom perfume, awakens lots of happy garden memories every time I smell it. Would be spectacular on someone who tends to "warm up" perfume on their skin.
To buy this you would have to love citrus blossoms (I do!) as to some noses they have a harsh smell, and the tuberose and jasmine take a back seat in this one.
If the idea of smelling like you are standing in a grove of citrus trees in bloom sounds good to you, this perfume smells like the real deal.

That reminds me of the gardenia plant. It's a very natural perfume for someone who doesn't like heavy stuffs!!

On second smell, I do like this scent a bit more- It still smells like calamine lotion, but I find it oddly compelling-(can't explain!) It reminds me of L'Heure Bleue, which also gave me a negative first impression because of medicinal notes-

pansylady

Like Mals86, I got a really strange chemical vibe in the mid-tones that lasted for at least 6 hours, reminiscent of...Calamine lotion!
I'm going to give it another try tomorrow to see if it's an acquired smell...
It does have more staying power than Mimosa por Moi, which was disappointingly fleeting, as one would expect with said papillon, instead...

Mellyhelly

Lovely extremely well made floral for romantic ladies! Yes, it is summery or springtime, but it's not so "fresh" after all. Once the initial burst of freshness fades down (10 minutes at most) this scent becomes quite an intriguing and elegant pure white floral. While it is usually defined as a light and innocent scent, I find it has some sexyness. Youthful but not teeny, floral but not flat, it's somehow a "knowing" scent. It has something in common with Givenchy Organza.
Try and spray a little more if you dare! It will become a cloud of flowers with a strong lime blossom note (which is the part I like less) and very matchable with a highly feminine elegant outfit and attitude. Tuberouse, especially is very aggressive as a flower and not so demure! The lime blossoms should provide a sense of serenity. I especially love the "honey" sensation even if I'm not sure this contains any honey at all. It simply captures the smell of the corollas which are honeyed in itself during their bloom in order to attract bees and the alikes :-)
Lovely alone, I enjoy it mixed with L'Eau d'Ambre. The Extreme version is also very nice, but it's more spiced and it pushes the sunkissed warm white flowers feeling to higher tones.

Mals86

I really, really wanted to love this one. I do generally like white florals, and the imagery of the name is just beautiful and appropriate.

I did love the opening notes, which were all juicy citrus and orange blossom - such a happy scent. An hour later, though, the lovely florals (I smelled lots of jasmine and orange blossom, with just a hint of tuberose) were fading to something that reminded me of bathroom cleaner, very chemical and harsh. This may be the linden (lime blossom), or a musk in the base. In any case, La Chasse aux Papillons was gorgeous for fifteen minutes, pretty for an hour, and wretched thereafter. I am jealous of those of you who can wear it! Lean over... yes, over here... ah, you smell wonderful... sigh.

belle de sud

A summer garden buzzing with bees collecting honey and bright butterflies flitting about my picnic cloth - I love La Chasse for its imagery AND the perfect capture of honeyed flowers and sunshine....Tatiana's fragrance!

chance25

I like this version more than the extreme. Extreme is very spicy and not as long lived on me. Chasse to me is all about white florals, balmy lemon, spring time in a bottle. I would think if a butterfly might wanted to be scented this is probably what he'd choose. I have a 15ml bottle and I use it sparingly for special occasions. This also reminds me of my bottle of Apothia If come to think of it.

veruska

As zoka said this is a simble and warm honeyed floral played in a really soft vibe.Tuberose and jasmine wispers in a watery and steamy orange blossom canvas.Yes it's beautiful but it lasts for 30 min and the subtle, quiet and not so happy nature and it's feather quality gone too.

coco76

this is a beautiful and soft perfume, gentle as a summer breeze. unfortunately, i kept wanting it to be something more, to have a bit more BITE. maybe a tart note? this is only my personal preference, it is still a beautiful and lovely perfume. i just kept wanting it to be something it wasn't, which really isn't fair.
