Premier Figuier by L'Artisan Parfumeur is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for women and men. Premier Figuier was launched in 1994. The nose behind this fragrance is Olivia Giacobetti. Top notes are Fig Leaf and Asafoetida; middle notes are Fig, Sandalwood and Almond Milk; base notes are Coconut, Sandalwood, Dried Fruits and Lime.

Premier Figuier is the first perfume based upon the fig scent: an accord of its sweet green leafs, a milky note of its juice, a fruity refreshment of its fruit and the woody power of its tree and branches. Close your eyes and you are under a fig tree with fresh figs in your hands. This is an unusual fragrance among the modern perfumes, very L'Artisan like, and at the same time it is a very recognizable scent of summer holidays and sea side, because the fig smells so intensive and beautiful only at the shore under the hot sun. Olivia Giacobetti created this fragrance in 1994.

Beautiful realistic fig, unfortunately it’s not as green forward as i was hoping. It’s very earthy, VERY similar to Demeter’s Fig Leaf with a hit of powder. After reading many reviews I thought this would be a good dupe for Philosykos, but they’re quite different. Both are definitely unisex, but I think that sandalwood makes this lean slightly masculine which was too noticeable for me. That coconut isn’t as present as in Philosykos either, which made a huge difference to me.

I’m really trying to avoid shelling out $300 for a perfume that lasts an hour so I was hoping this would be a good alternative, and it might be for others, but she’s not it for me:( So far I’ve had to settle for Diptyque’s Figuier room spray lol

Fragaddict123

I’m not sure others will relate with my words but once you try the real deal you won’t look back
And the real deal in this situation is philosykos
But this one is just as close and definitely influenced the latter but it’s a lot worse than Diptyque’s masterpiece
A waste of money and time
if you love philosykos don’t even waste your time testing this
It’s weak bland and has a underlying sweetness in the dry down
Weakness is frowned upon in perfumery and this is a good example of it

Bethfoz

Lovely perfume! It's like a more complex version of philosykos by Diptyque! The dry down goes quite creamy which I think gives this lovely friendly maternal quality to it. I didn't buy it as I already have philosykos & Gris charnel so I don't need another fig fragrance but if you are a fig lover I feel you can't go wrong here.

A FIG FAIRY TALE

One day during Roman times, Emperor Hadrian was riding with his centurions through Galilee. As he passed through cultivated land, he noticed a very old man planting a fig tree. The emperor requested a soldier to bring the old planter before him.
-"Old man, why are you planting a young fig tree? You should have done it in your youth so that you could savour the fruits now in your old age. You will never be able to eat the fruits from that tree."
The old man replied respectfully: - "In my boyhood, I worked very hard, and I shall do so as long as I have the strength. With God's grace, I may yet taste the fruits of this tree. May God be always praised!".
-" Do tell me, how old are you?" asked the emperor.
-"I have already stopped counting my years. I must be close to a hundred years old." replied the smiling old man.
-"And at a hundred years old, do you still hope to eat figs that will require several years to fructify?" inquired the disdainful monarch.
-"May God's will always be done. But if I do not taste the sweetness of these figs, let my son enjoy them. My father too, may God rest his soul, left the fruits he planted for me," said the old man calmly.
The monarch was surprised at the depth of the old farmer's words: -"I see the strength of life in your long years! If you live long enough until the first figs of this tree ripen, I beg you to come into my presence."
Ten years passed after this meeting and for the first time, the old man tasted the figs from that tree. By mere chance, Hadrian paid a new visit to Galilee, and the old man felt obliged to heed Caesar's wish. He filled a basket with the sweetest figs and set off. On being admitted into the emperor's presence, he bowed respectfully, as far as his old bones would allow, and said:
-"It is ten years since you saw me plant a fig tree. Here I am a little more bent to share, with your Majesty, my best choice of the figs from that tree, with which God has graced me."
A greatly touched Adrian ordered the figs to be placed at his table and the old man's basket filled with gold coins. The courtiers remarked to the emperor: -"Your Highness, why have you done this honour to this old Galilean?"
Hadrian wisely replied:
-"God has given him a magnificent honour, and I cannot and should not attempt to match my donation, to the gift given to him by God!"

In perfumery, the so-called fig notes can be derived from different parts of the fig tree. The leaf gives us a refreshing green note that will make us feel refreshed as if in the shade of the tree. The fruit has a very distinctive aroma from other gourmand notes and is usually sweet, juicy, ripe and bright. The sap can be bitter, earthy and milky. Usually not all the noses enjoy all the differentiated scent nuances coming from the same tree. Some noses don't like any of them.
"Premier Figuier" is one of the fig perfumes I like the best, along with the different and sweeter "Fleur de Figuier" by Roger & Gallet. I don't like a fig fragrance to be overly fresh, green or sour acid.
That said, my fig perfume preferences are easy to understand. L'Artisan perfume opens slightly sweet with peach and slightly sourly green with fig leaf and asafoetida. Then, in the heart, a fig fruit scent mild sweetness is distinctly noticeable, but without slowing down the initial freshness. At the base, a smooth sweetness remains. With the addition of milky and woody notes of sandalwood, almond milk, coconut milk, and dried fruits. the fragrance ends up mimicking the different facets of the various fig accords. The overall balance is very pleasant.
What about a "Premier Figuier" appraisal?

My opinion:
A fragrance type for lovers of a blending that covers all fig notes. As it is a bit particular scent, you'd better try it before purchasing it. I quite like it.

Sweet, Milky, Green, Fig

Great representation of the fig tree and I see why it made a splash in the fragrance world when it landed. I like other fig fragrances better these days but would not be upset to own a bottle of it. I did not spend a lot of time with this fragrance so this is based on initial impressions.

cloudfruit

a beautiful fresh, fruity, and clean fragrance. very literal take on smelling like a fig tree

i like this a lot but there are other fig frags that i like more- i definitely prefer philosykos to this. this is fresher, brighter, and greener fig to philosykos's creamier, coconuttier, and deeper fig

feuermaiden

A very green and leafy fig scent that dries to a beautiful and encapsulating sandalwood. I don't really smell the coconut in this, moreso the woody notes. I really enjoy this one, but I'll be honest... I think I like Philosykos more. Both are created by the same perfumer, and I think she perfected this formula with Philosykos. I'd happily accept this as a gift, though.

In comparison, PF seems a bit more powdery and sandalwood-y, while Philosykos is more milky and coconutt-y in the dry down which I prefer. I think the two are too similar to warrant having both, so sample each and take your pick. Both are lovely.

MademoiselleMaya

Beautiful and artsy creation. Gentle, creamy figue. The fruit is full of sunshine, the scent a pleasure during summer. Skin smells gorgeous up close, when wearing it - as if it was not a parfume but lifestyle and a place among gods and goddesses.

I think I prefer Phylosicos, but I am not sure. They are similar and yet completely different.
This one is smoother, subtler and closer to the skin. Less green, more green-white. With a touch of yellow. Less windy and less sunshiny. More like the fruit already eaten. A diet of figs could result in your tanned skin smelling like this :)

Frangipanilove

For whatever reason the artificial sandalwood note always gets emphasised on my skin coming through too much even with this original version of premier figuer. As far as fig scents go, I prefer a sharper, fresher, brighter fig - this is more creamy almondy and lactonic on my skin chemistry. Its a pass for me - more fig less background please.

SalinasL

Opens with an ambiguous lactonic note with a whiff of grass and clean twigs. Nothing artificial at all, not even a hint of the alcohol scent that usually accompanies freshly sprayed perfume. The lactonic note quickly grows in strength and nuttiness, becoming more clearly coconut, bordering on desiccated coconut. Wafts of this are absolutely lovely at this stage, though it has a sour green smell close up. Already it becomes apparent that, despite having doused myself in nearly an entire sample vial, this scent won’t be sticking around for long. In fact it almost becomes pointless in continuing any evaluation after 15 minutes as even up close it’s fading away into nothing. I’m already contemplating what to put on next and there’s nothing left to wash away. Will try the remainder of the sample on clothes to see if it lasts longer but I can’t imagine I’ll purchase more.

Edit: I tried this again over coconut oil hoping to make it last longer. It really enhanced the asafoetida in the opening, which I happen to like so no complaints there. That fattiness mixed with luscious lactonic fresh green stems, coconut that’s milky and nutty... Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to help much with longevity. Such a shame because I do love this.

Edit again: I will layer with coconut oil and all the scent-boosting molecules; this is worth a full bottle or 3 or 5...

Premier Figuier is the original fig-dominant perfume, and it is a rare L'Artisan Parfumeur scent that has been readily available for almost three decades. L'Artisan has a reputation for creating hard-to-find masterpieces - for instance, I would love a full bottle of Timbuktu and Dzing!, and after smelling this modern classic, I can add it to the list. Diptique Philosykos is the definitive fig scent as far as I'm concerned, and it is no surprise that it is quite similar to this, its predecessor, as Olivia Giacobetti is the nose behind both. PF is a realistic fig tree scent, green, jammy, lactonic and woody at various intervals. PF is softer, slightly more coconutty and less woody than Philosykos, but it is hard to choose a favourite.

PF opens with green fig leaf, fresh and realistic, reminiscent of summers in the countryside in the south of France. The fig becomes jammy and fleshy as it develops, very close to the juicy flesh of a ripe fig plucked straight from the tree. The lactonic notes emerge early on, complementing the fig beautifully. Almond milk, smooth, creamy and slightly nutty - but not the gourmand marzipan note more commonly used in perfumery - gives this effect. Coconut follows, adding a tropical edge to the lactonic accord. It is more prominent than expected.

As it dries down, a honeyed amber accord emerges, rich but delicate, enhancing the fig with a nectar-like quality. Soft woody notes creep in, less sharp than in Philosykos, instead soft and blurry, almost like an Impressionist rendering of the entire fig tree. It fades to a transparent coconut skin scent, with remnants of the fig remaining until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is unisex, being more green than sweetly fruity.

A restorative, deeply comforting spring/summer perfume, this is a perfectly-balanced, masterfully-composed fig scent. A true modern classic, PF pioneered the fig trend in perfumery, as well as being a beautiful, wearable and evocative scent. The original, and best. 5/5.

The reviews are not wrong about this smelling like a fig tree. It smells like a plant alright, green but not in an astringent way. I have a fig tree at home and have yet to spend some quality time with it, but I do believe this is close to what it would smell like. Although I was half expecting some creamy fruity vibes from the figs themselves, this is interesting and a nice wear.

However, the coconut comes out rather strongly on me, which is a note I try to actively stay away from. Reminds me of dry shampoo (rip). This is sweet and mild, but the association is hard to un-associate. Imagine my disappointment when the greenness all but faded away to the spicy coconut. Not bad, but not the dreamy fig I was hoping for.

This is one of the most calming scents I've worn. It is so peaceful it affects my mood in ways that few fragrances do. This is green, very green, in the softest, most natural way you can imagine. Photorealistic fig tree, not only the smell of leaves, but also their flesh. There is a subtle milkiness that creates the image of tearing apart a green leave and seeing the milky latex drip from it. Whithout smelling dirty or soily, I can almost picture a fine layer of dirt being wipped off the leave as water trickles down during a light rain. A very visual fragrance.

PF mimics so closely a natural smell that as a consequence, it is disconnected from any scent I relate to humans. It doesn't smell like a perfume. To me theres no connection to gender nor age, there is no sex appeal, no attractiveness, no seduction. This is not cute nor tough. I find this to be the strenght of this scent. It is the perfect family friendly scent, something every member of the family could wear. (I've never thought of fragrances as a product for kids, but if my kids ever wanted to wear something, this would be it, because it does not step into the "attractive person" territory, it has zero allure to it. Not that it doesn't smell good, it just isn't trying to be attractive. The same way a tree is not trying to smell attractive but still smells good.) Sometimes scents lean feminine or masculine depending on the person wearing it. Not this one, this one stays true to its natue, a tree, it smells like a tree, green goodness in the best way possible. It is not only unisex, it is sexless. And it is the fact that it is not trying to be attractive, that makes it so calming, comforting.

I like to wear this on lazy weekend mornings. When I decide to take it slow, relax, I plan nothing all morning. Emotional cleanse after a tough week. This is the perfect scent to wear with sweats since it's so casual. PF helps me get in a relaxed mood to enjoy my morning, have a light breakfast, read in the couch. Some scents can feel a little abrasive first thing in the morning, specially some cirtus openings. PF is soft, so it becomes an interesting mixure of fresh but cozy, simply perfect. Projection lasts an impressive 45 min, then it becomes a skin scent for about 2, maybe 3 hrs if you're lucky. If I spray it after sleeping in, by 2pm when I have to get ready to go out to the world and pretend I'm a functional human being PF has completely worn off and I can just wear my actual SOTD. Usualy I ignore fragrances that last less than 4hrs, but this one works for me on this schedule and the joy it brings me makes it worth it IMO.

Now, Philosykos. Smelling them side by side they are exactly the same exept for one thing. Philosykos has more of a woody note in the back, gives it a little edge, the greeness feels just a tiny bit screechy (at least compared to PF, by itself it doesn't feel like that.) IMO this makes it feel a tad more realistic. PF has the coconut note that rounds everything up, softens it. This slight extra creaminess fits very well what I like about the fragrance, its relaxing nature, the peacefullnes. Makes the scent friendlier. That is why I prefer PF over Philosykos.

tally2ball

This one smells a lot like Le Labo's Noir 29 and Diptyque Philosykos. With The Noir smelling slightly sweeter, Philosykos I get more coconut, and L'artisan a little greener. My nose isn't discerning enough, and I don't love fig scents enough at the moment that I would need all--I would only choose one. It's a toss up between The Noir and L'artisan for me.

I am enthralled by this. Compared to Philosykos (same nose, later iteration), it is very similar in concept, but slightly more bittersweet, with a more complex sour note at the base. Diptyque's fig is perhaps a little cleaner, brighter, more linear, while this one is darker, shifting, and more wet. Let's say, philosykos plays all its cards at once (and fades quickly), premier figuier plays its hand slowly, and carefully.
The fig fades quickly to a nutty, dewy base, and overall I find it just such a lush, calming scent. Wonderful perfume for summer and and hot days.

AMajeedQT

Coconuts on a Fig Tree.

Very green and fresh fig leaves smell with a photorealistic coconut smell, slight woodiness, and mild sugary sweetness. It has a very green, leafy, figgy opening with delicious sweetness, but when the coconut starts to appear, it brings Figuier's beauty down.

Figgy, green, leafy, fresh, coconut, lightly woody, slightly-sugary

It almost has a "dew on fig leaf" feel. Quite nice.

I am not a big coconut fan, so that is not a big plus for me but Premier Figuier will hit the spot for some really good if you are in the market for some green, figgy, and coconutty.

Neutral weather, unisex wear.

I ordered a decant of this to see if it would last and project better than Philosykos - the initial fig scent is almost identical to me, however the dry down leans much more powdery. Eventually the fig becomes over powered and I'm just left with a headache. Not sure if I received the EDP and should try the EDT instead.

scentury

Imagine a lava lamp. Imagine the notes listed are the globules, travelling across the suspension like scent molecules across air, separating and coalescing. That is the scent journey of this perfume. Fig, both fruit and leaf, Strong and green opens, then sandalwood and coconut, then almond and fruits. You will catch alternating scents all throughout it's scent life, which is brief. (2 hours on clothes, our on skin).
The scent composition is a 10 for me. However, longevity drags the score down to 7.5.

JmThms

I was excited by this because "sweet" and "fruity" are near the top of the accord stack listed here. I'm in a seemingly perpetual search for a fig scent that is dominant on the sweet, fruity, chewy fig fruit/nectar/milk and not just the greenery of fig leaves or tree bark (Dior Dune Pour Homme). I have a building collection of fig and date dominant scents - AdP Blue Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi, Dior Dune Pour Homme, Nobile Fig, Yesterday Haze, a clone of The Good Life, Armani Privé Figuier Eden, Clone of Dolce&Gabbana The One Luminous Night, Serge Lutens Arabie, Varvatos OG (date fruit) - and I'm constantly looking for the sweet, dense, fruity ones. L'Artisan Premier Figuier has a bit of the sweet fig fruit, supplemented by the assorted dried fruits accord. But that dominant green accord at the top overpowers all the sweet, fruity, laconic accords. I want even more of that fig fruit. Plus the performance of this is poor. Don't know if it'll be full bottle worthy. Is the Intense better? I'll go see...

Gazel

It bears his name wonderfully. Imagine yourself among the fig trees picking the fruits from your hands. It's green, it's fruity without the sugar notes. I'm not into fig scent but this is a such beautiful creation, perfect for hot seasons ! If you like fig, get it but care cause that's not sweet/sugary.

I am not agree with the previous comment. And that is why.
I am also in my earlier thirties and the problem here is a skin chemistry, perception, taste, health issues, and etc. Fragrances are really subjective thing, and it is probably would not be fair to categorize fragrances for "older and younger generation", as everyone ware whatever they want. Question is, do you feel comfortable wearing this fragrance?
My answer is yes for Premier Figuier. To my nose and to my perception this fragrance is creamier than Philosykos, richer, juicer. If we compare these two, then Premier Figuier leaves a feeling of ripped fruits, less green, more potent even maybe. Philosykos in that sense is greener, more figue leaves, rather than fig fruit, a bit more sharp and more of "free spirit" kind of vibe.
I have been enjoying Philosykos for more than 3 years (here and there, never wore it several days in a raw), until I tried Premier Figuier, and was blown away with its creaminess and smoothness. The scent itself is quite linear, there are no any development, stays longer on clothes and on hair, rather than on skin (about maybe 4 hours). Totally Spring-Summer, can be casual (both sneakers and shoes will do), work appropriate (not in your face and still leaves smart sense), vacation (because of this Mediterranean vibe).

LavenderMilk

It's just a fig. It's a fresh fig right from the tree. Last time I've been around fig trees, I crushed a leaf in my hand in order to learn the smell, and yes, this smell is mostly fig fruit and leaf, very realistic. It's possible that if I wear it and repeat the test, it would not feel indistinguishable from the real thing. But it's very believable. I love realistic smells.

Kronstadt

Whilst I agree that Premier Figuier by L'Artisan Parfumeur shares many similarities with Philosykos by Diptyque, I’d argue the most appropriate fit is Dune Homme by Dior. The fig note is definitely prominent, but it’s less of a photorealistic capturing of a fig tree and more a representation of what you smell and feel under a fig tree on a sunny day. A really beautiful sense of place and indeed, time. It’s also capturing the feel of those 90s and 00s fragrances that provided a sharper green note in amongst a milky, also lactonic sandlewood-almond envelope. Add asafoetida in the opening, as well as dried fruits in the dry down and you get a real 90s feel for this fragrance that is modernised to perfection. Truely unisex, Premier Figuier is a perfect fresh perfume, for any season, for anybody, but will be loved by those who remember the 90s with nostalgia.

Stillmagnolia

I find this to be like a cozy cocoon. I’ve only had a few others from this house, and I don’t recall just how they smelled. I’m scared to try more, I’ll prob find something!

I do love fig…… I always say I don’t have any perfumes from the 90’s, cause I dislike all that neon fruity stuff, but I’d forgotten this is from that time.
It’s got the same velvety and creamy vibe that some of my 80’s favs have. (I also love some 70’s dry greens, I won’t even go back farther than that, but just mean I think I’d also love a drier, more tart or green fig as well…. Prob any fig or leaf that still smells fig, but it has to have a strong base, right? Or it’s gone).
This is not the scent of tuberose, but is the same feel of that in the non-sharp, creamy tuberose versions.

I’ve not tried the extreme, but reading about that one being more powdery and coconutty, this is prob better for me. Longevity is very decent for an EDT, and it has a tiny small projection, almost palpably warm to me.

I love, LOVE the Hermès Un Jardin eM, but it’s so fleeting!
I have the cheapie, sheer, more vetiver-like Salted Green Fig from Maison Aubusson that I wear sometime to things like dr appts when I’m in small spaces with strangers.

It must be the dried fruits that give it a deep, almost incense-y vibe? I’m usually not into tropical or coconut, and while the coconut is obvious, it’s just smooth and yummy. This makes for a rich and deep, milky warm cloud, even when the fig has receded. This fragrance transforms a bit vs just fading.

Years ago when I first purchased this, it must have been near the fall, because this gives me cozy snuggle vibes. It’s fresh, but still warm, creamy, and just a bit spicy. Velvety. Prob will always love this.

Daisy_D

It is a whole fig. The smelling experience is exactly like the whole bite of a fig, from the slightly bitter skin to the creamy sour and sweet core.

The starting was absolutely green. Instead of a grassy, leafy green, it was more of a pine green kind of greenness. It gradually turned woody and a bit herbal. Comparing with Philosykos, Fico Nero and Fico di Amalfi, it's comparatively more complicated, fresher and less zesty.

The Longevity on me doesn't last too long.

E.H.Tersono

What is the best fig perfume? I'm utterly torn between Eros Fig (Libertine Fragrance) and Premier Figuier (L'Artisan Parfumeur). Eros Fig is the broken tip of the fig stem, the milky sap, the crushed leaf, the tree's heart, the green, chalky, salt of the fig seeds, like licking granite. But Premier Figuier is the ripe fruit, the warm flesh and deep red dripping juice on your lips. To experience fig, you might need to wear them both.

Vitodito

This is much much better than the extreme and better than philosykos.

Plus, the name says it all, the first fig tree fragrance! And it deserves respect.

The opening is very very green, but then the juice dries down into a creamy almond milk scent.

It works very well on me, i can smell it all day long and people around me too. I disagree with the longevity and sillage votes here.
The extreme version has a strong powdery note and a grandma soap smell which i don’t like at all. This original juice is much much better for me.

Review based on an original 100ml new bottle bought at l’artisan website.

Coalita

It's a very nice and beautiful. Last summer/autumn I thought, I'll sell it. It was OK, but not "Like", but today, there is weather about +10 + 12, rainy day, no sun and this scent is just gorgeous - warm, little bit sweet, also green and stays long. I whiffed at 13:00 and now is 20:15 and I can still smell it - on my clothes. From skin it disappeared after about 4-5 hours. I think, now I know, when this perfume opening in it's best way - rainy spring day! Love it!

Nynon

The first whiff is 100% fresh cut grass on me, like I rolled on a freshly cut lawn for 5 minutes. The dry down is a bit more subtle, but remains very, very green.

sandrineb

This perfume is absolutely beautiful, very green, fresh fig leafs with a lactonic quality to it. The problem is that it lasts no more than an hour on me, and all I'm left with is a very (very) faint powdery sandalwood. It really is one of my favourite summer scents but for the longevity I don't think it's worth the buy. I also tried Premier Figuier Extrême, and while it does last a bit longer, it's more on the nutty/woody/coconut side and lacks some of the sharp green bitterness of Premier Figuier, which imo makes it a little less interesting.

Pianomelody

A very evocative perfume, it creates emotions, positive sensations in me. It's like coming back in the summer, the caress of the sun, a tree nearby, scents of figs, fruits ... all in union with you. I have the sensation of being in a forest and my body invaded by all of nature. Unforgettable, this perfume was a great experience! Fresh and artistic natural scent.

I think it is more sweet than green, but sweet in a non-sugary way (if that’s possible). If green is a fruit tree in the morning, perhaps after a rainy night, sweet in this case is the same tree in the afternoon when the sun has warmed the fruits and made them project their sweetness out in the air. That is what Premier Figuier smells like.

The coconut is not prominent but enough to give it a nutty touch, which is a bit unfortunate since I tend to find some nuts a bit nauseating, but if you like nuts this won’t be a problem. The extreme version is nuttier and creamier, and I prefer the original because it maintains the perfect balance between fresh and warm.

I’d say it’s summer in a bottle and the only problem is the longevity. That is also why I’ve never purchased it. I get too sad when I sniff my wrist in the afternoon and nothing of the cheerful happiness I felt after spraying it in the morning is left.

On me this opens with coconut, which just makes me think of sunscreen (but expensive sunscreen, that a mature French woman would wear in Cannes or something). The dry-down is fresher, more green and crisp, which I prefer. A couple of hours in the sandalwood comes to the fore, which is my favourite part, though at this point the scent is very faint.

aspirina

Crushed figue leaves. Milky fluid from the broken stems and leaves. Clean air, sun rays. So so natural smelling..intriguing. Very beautiful and realistic, but do not expect too much of the fig fruit, this is almost 99% fig leaves.

L'Artisan.
This perfume house really does notes and fragrance compositions extremely well and in a way where the perfumes have a boutique type essence about them. They are unique, not mainstream. About fourteen years ago, I remember going into the store to ask if there were any perfumes which smelled great, but were unique enough to be less immediately recognized than some of the more popular mainstream perfumes which everyone knew at the time. I purchased this and absolutely loved it. Fig is a fairly unique note, a lot of people were not wearing fig when I first began wearing this. I received a solid stream of compliments on this. It is beautifully composed and lovely with a fresh green vibe. It is extremely sweet, for this reason - it is not a perfume that I would choose as a signature, but I would wear this to add variety to my daily perfume schedule.

Their fragrance "Merchant Loop" is another one of my very favorite fragrances. It is a rich woodsy perfume with notes in it as if you are walking through a magical forest. It is totally mesmerizing and enchanting. I love this one so much!

They are both fabulous and both set a unique tone and mood for the day.

supersaiyan

I really love this one and am extremely upset I only have a 50 ml (the 100 was sold out!). It was a blind buy because I love living on the edge. I am not fond of green fragrances; every single one I've smelled has come off "sour" to me, as if the perfume has turned, but this? This is lovely. This is so good. It's like snapping the branch off a fig tree, it's so realistic, as if the whole tree's been blended up and stuffed it into a bottle.

Premier Figuier opens up as a clean, photorealistic fig branch without much sweetness. Then, the coconut and fig fruit start kicking in, sweetening things up just a touch. It's milky the way white sap from broken branch is milky. Absolutely stunning, I think I'm a L'Artisan Parfumeur convert now. I'm trying to spend less money but I desperately want to try their entire line now.

Ecume de Rose

This is a fresh, clean, almost sharp fragrance. Definitely not fig fruit more leaf. Lots of it. Dose not change much on my skin from what it comes out as from the bottle. Although I like it there is something that strikes me as odd about it, as if it would be more suitable as a room freshener than a fragrance.

oneofheralteregos

crazy how similar it is to phylosykos but i ditched phylosykos almost immediately. on my skin it's only coconut.

took me a year before i finally try Premier Figuier and maaaan this one is waaaay richer and stunning. the coconut is there but only to compliment all the green and creamy fig.
this is a grown up phylosykos, the perfected one.

Ja85

Not the best fig fragrance out there but it covers the basics. It’s fresh, sweet yet earthy at the same time. If you prefer mild fig scents then this is perfect for you.

KingRidesBy96

In the canopy shade of my mind, of all the shifting flashes of light I experienced this summer, I think the most brilliant and I hope the longest to be impressed on my memory will be the feeling of lying in my backyard hammock on the hottest-but-breezy days of August wearing Premier Figuier (EDT) all over me and just glowing in its balmy milky green sillage.

I kept returning to a sample of this, thinking I didn't need it because I had Philosykos; but, they are very different to me. The Diptyque is niche-er, which is to say more literal, monothematic, and woody-aromachemically. I do love it, EDT and EDP, and few smells give me that actual *shiver* of delight when I smell that tart, twiggy greenness. But Philosykos heralds all of itself in that first moment and then slowly fades away over time, a sound echoing itself into silence.

PF by contrast feels layered a hundred times over. It's a bit less technicolor (a bit less treble) but that almond milk note, silkily layered with the bracing stemmy green of the figleaf, the vaporized sandalwood (think pinch incense rather than the pissy-woody-milky sandalwood of Labo or Lutens etc.) and a really ethereal coconut -- it makes for a completely atmospheric classical composition. It shifts and glimmers, shadows and light, warmth and coolness, woody then milky, sappy then hazy. Exactly like being in a fragrant, hot shade on a scorcher with a billowy breeze.

It's shot right near the top of my all-time favourites. It's hard to wear much else right now, and my pleasure is redoubled by how easily it layers with my other workhorses, Eau du Sud, 1881, Chanel Pour Monsieur, Vetiver, Diorella, even Mitsouko (ugh, so good), Fahrenheit, Minotaure, Ambilux/Ambiguite, Sonnet XII, Kiehl's Musk, Bogart Signature. It goes on. And I actually find this one strong! The sprayer is frustratingly misty but I'm okay with that now because it really works for the scent.

As soon as I realized a good centimetre of juice had disappeared inside of a month, I impulsively backed it up one night in bed while still half asleep. It's got a hold on me.

So in brief, a less mono-literal (and honestly in its way a better-performing) Philosykos EDT with the spiky green dialed back just enough to let this warm waft of almondy, coconutty milkiness shimmer through.

We'll see what winter holds.

E.H.Tersono

Perfect fig, sweet and mineral and milky. I would personally prefer this with more green, or with something else bright to go along with the fruity sweetness, which could make it a good candidate for layering.

charcolatebar

Very green, quite sweet but tempered with tartness. A well-balanced fragrance and interesting for having started the fig trend in perfumery. I find it a little more hefty than some of Giacobetti’s other fragrances for L’AP. Somehow though, I can’t fall in love with it. I prefer Molinard’s Figue EDP, which also touches on fruity, citrus facets of fig but with the sweetness toned down and the wood cranked up. For that green galbanum bite I prefer Chanel No 19. I do enjoy PF more after the first half hour when it has lost its sharpness. If you like well-crafted, green or fruity fragrances with limited sweetness this is a modern classic worth trying.

eau de nath

This unique fragrance pictures me of an afternoon picnic under a tree in which the sunlight passes through, while eating a snack of jam sandwiches and some nuts. It is an inspiring and relaxing happy fragrance.

It begins with a fresh green note which resembles like crushing leaves in your hands, and is then followed shortly with a fruity scent. The fruitiness is not juicy but rather tarty and jammy which goes well with the green scent; and is then complemented by a beautiful mixture of coconut cream and smooth almonds with a hint of woodiness. The drydown smells woody and a bit citrusy on my skin, but it smells milky on clothes.

I’ve never smelled anything like it. A deliciously fresh green tarty milky scent.

Snippet

Sometimes I struggle to place scents so I look at the listed notes to help me identify what I am smelling. For this review I didn’t feel the need. I am describing it as I smelled it without looking at the notes.

I am very dismissive of opening/ middle accords. I buy and enjoy for the dry-down. After all, that's what sticks with you the longest.

That said, for a moment, right after this evaporates and is fresh on the skin it is green magic.

If you spent childhood summer days crumpling and mashing leaves and flowers... perhaps grinding them into a paste between rocks (For what purpose? Who knows.) you will know this green smell.

For a few minutes it captures simple green leaves beautifully. Sadly it fades very quickly into a nondescript soapy, slightly powdery, scent with a kind of artificial creamy coconut finish- and that is the scent that sticks around for ages.

Rosemary14

To me this beats Philosykos everyday of the week. This has the same leafy green photorealistic fig leaf smell and freshness of the Diptyque but it adds the coco nutty smoothness, the jammy fresh fig, creamy almond, and sweet fruits. The freshness is there but so is all the other notes that round this out and create a Mediterranean holiday you’re looking for. A man or woman can easily pull this off and just smell fresh and breezy. Fantastic! Skip the Diptyque botany class and go to this little gem. It’s just better.

inkstainedcoffeeaddict

A savory, aromatic, celery like top with creamy coconut starting to overtake the initial warm green feeling of figs and fig leaves. It makes my mouth water a bit, but I wouldn't necessarily think of it as a gourmand. The savory-green-ness stays fresh and clean through the mid on my skin, even as the coconut settles down.
There's a creamy, powdery Sandalwood base, which whispers in a nostalgic way.It reminds me of the sort of early-morning fresh air in a warm place, maybe near the sea but not quite on the beach.
The dry-down goes softly in a musky-powdery skin scent way.
It's not a long-lasting scent; twelve hours later there's not a trace of it on my skin. That's something I appreciate, but I know that's not everyone's presence.
It's a polite but unusual scent, and I wouldn't mind wearing it an office.

sarahherbs

So I am reviewing the EDT version. This is an oddly satisfying fragrance. Lately, I have been having trouble wearing really sweet or strong scents. Sadly they make me nauseous. This is a perfect reprieve because it’s pleasantly bitter. I couldn’t agree more with the other reviewer's beautiful descriptions of green, vegetal, clean scent. I would also say that it smells like Castile soap on my skin. Then it turns into a fuzzy and light coconut scent. I smell really clean without smelling artificial or cloyingly sweet. What a pleasant surprise. The fig in this is reminiscent of the leaf rather than the fruit.

Stwmylos

This is the more masculine and mature brother of Fico di Amalfi. Premier Figuier is first of all green whereas Fico di Amalfi is mostly fruity. Both realistic, both ok, both very figgy. While i prefer the opening of FdA, i like better the drydown of Premier F.

I always love a good fig scent, and Premier Figuier is a great one: green, light, calm, just very harmonious. It's exuberant and bright but not very sweet; natural and lifelike but not too woody; fresh and green but not at all "sporty". Kind of perfect, at least for my taste, in other words. I don't get much coconut; to my nose this is all about the milky greenness of the fig leaf and an echo of the sweet fruit itself, and the other notes just serve to enhance those aspects. The same is true for Premier Figuier Extrême, but that one's a lot woodier and a bit heavier or even stickier as well. I love both of them, but I think I prefer this greener, airier version. Like many voters have indicated, it's indeed very like Philosykos, but a little brighter and more substantial, I think. If you're a fig lover like me, I don't think it would be overkill to have both in your collection (and that's where I'll probably end up one day in the not too distant future when my decants are finished). The only downside is it's one of those scents I don't notice much during the day, except for in the opening and when I sniff my wrists.

SeaElle

I always smell something I just can't quite place in the very beginning of this, and I see now there's a note called asofoetida. It allegedly smells like leek or onion. It’s not the sulfuric scent of a sliced onion, but I grew up in a town that harvested onions, and this is the smell of an onion still in the ground. It's gone quickly for me, but interesting while it lasts!

This is incredibly green for me, and startlingly photorealistic. This is absolutely wet leaves, even maybe the musty scent of wet bark. I don't get as much fig in this, perhaps just because my nose seems so attuned to the greenery. I do get a soft, demure coconut that emerges - not at all gourmand and sticky sweet as others have found. For me, it gentle and even gives a somewhat realistic impression of the experience of chewing the sinewy flesh of an actual coconut. It gets creamier and a bit bolder over time, but never powerful the way it is for some.

There's a bit of sandalwood at the end, but it's gone before you know it, along with the rest of the fantasy of the fig tree. If you don't mind smelling like such a shockingly realistic representation of a fig tree, it would certainly be worth reapplying. For me, I think I prefer a more impressionistic approach to figs. And though I hate to be rigid with gender when it comes to scents, this strikes me masculine. Perhaps the way this evokes the actual tree itself, including the stems and woods? An objectively impressive fragrance, but not one I want to smell like.

待我撕开半里这晨昏的乾坤

比较一般,就是带着奶味的无花果香味,没什么特别出彩的地方,整体也比较线性,没有太多变化。相比diptyque的无花果,差了些

AnnieT303

This is a favorite of mine - fresh, green, wet leaves along with the scent in the air while the grass is being mowed after it rains.

And to me, is so very similar to Comme des Garcons Series 1 Leaves: Calamus.

I'm not a big fan of coconut in fragrances and I don't really detect it here, but coconut may be the reason this scent doesn't appear bitter or sharp. Seems perfectly blended!

thecoffeeslayer

It starts off green/leafy, woody, humid and sweet. Like the tree when it's fruiting, but after watering it. (we had a fig tree in the backyard at a place I lived). But, then it starts to smell very strongly of coconut. And the fig/fruit note doesn't read as fig to me, more like sap from the tree (it's a little itchy). I wouldn't mind this, but for the coconut being so very strong. It's like eating dried coconut while standing by a fig tree. It's an experience. I want to like it. But, it's not for me.

This lasts about 3 hours on me, and is close to the skin for the most part.

Persephone's return

I didn't like this much at all. I was looking for a nice figgy fragrance but all I really smell in this is Coconut and almond milk, I have a very similar smelling shower creme.

laura710

I have tried this alongside Philosykos, when I wanted to decide which one to pick. In the end, I decided to get Philosykos.

This is a very pleasant fragrance, and it defnitely smells of figs. Unfortunately though, to my nose at least, it smelled a bit chemical, and not nearly as realistic a fig as Philosykos's, which instead is not synthetic at all, it is more realistic and lasts way longer as well.
This is not to say I dislike this fragrance. It is fairly good. But the lack of lasting power and the not exceptional realism of the fig note made me appreciate Philosykos more.

cocofluff

+ Delicious! Smells a lot like Philosykos to me and that is one that I absolutely LOVE!
Premier Figuier smells like sweetened coconut and figs,

Will buy the extreme version at some points this year. I don't think I will vibe long term with the lime note in this one.

Bluesamphire

This is one I get compliments from strangers on. Which is always nice.

The coconut isn’t strong on me, and to be honest, I have never sat under a fig and smelled the leaves, but i get a beautiful green, calmness. Worlds away from the sickly punch of many perfumes.

I find it a good scent to wear when I want my brain functioning clearly, and it makes me feel focused and capable, so great for work.

It is actually something that my brain quickly learns to ignore, so I become unaware of it very quickly. Yet hours later a stranger will say ‘you smell lovely’ and I have to try and remember which bottle I picked up that morning, because the scent is now invisible to me.

Neosmiaphyte

The opening is realistic, put-your-face-in-the-tree, almost grassy fig leaf. Dries to a woody, figgy, musk. I don’t get any of the other notes listed

indigo

Premier Figuier is delightful, it smells cool, clean, fresh green/woody, but creamy with a little hint of sweetness.

I know this a realistic scent because before I knew the fig note I took a mini spray of this on holiday to Rhodes. It smells just like the steep twisting fig tree lined path you need to walk down to reach Lindos Bay. When I walked down that path, I kept thinking all I could smell was this perfume - yet I hadn't put it on that day :)

Fantastic summer perfume that I wouldn't want to be without, ever. Like a little piece of lovely Greece, PF takes me right back there..

correspondencepersonal

Purchased this before and really love the fig in this. It is beautiful for spring and summer - and this one is not cloying like a lot of other fig perfumes.

Must try this again -
Its been over 15 years since I had my last bottle of this, but I remember how nice this smelled for spring/summer.

robynheartsscents

My skin absolutely loves to project anything green as far as it possibly can, so it's probably to that end that I don't get the fig from this, although a gorgeous creamy coconut does peek through, giving the composition a certain nuttiness. The fig leaf is so realistically organic smelling, I feel as though I've stepped into a sunny garden somewhere, straight after a rain shower. I can't claim this type of scent to be my favourite, but it's beautifully crafted.

NicoleET88

I ordered an extra large dauber sample vial a few years ago. I had high hopes, I love L'artisan and I was having a love affair with figs. I keep all of my vials and minis in a little box and often take a stroll down olfactory memory lane by uncapping random bottles and sniffing to my heart's content. Whenever I get to Premier Figuier I open it and wonder why I didn't wear it down to the last dregs as I have with so many other beloved fragrances.
So then I daub a little on the back of my hand and enjoy the fresh, cool, green aroma for the next hour or so. It's so natural, so evocative of a fig tree from fresh leaves to roots in damp soil...It's a scent escape much more than a perfume or cologne...I go online a start pricing decants...

And then somewhere past the 1 hour mark I remember why I've relegated this fragrance to the Collection Box instead of setting it out with the scents I wear daily. It's because I hate the dry down. It goes from being a gentle, earthy presence, to an overly sweet and very insistent, almost acrid muddle of discordant notes.

Q80

Wooly greeny fig leaves.

I wanted to sample this fragrance cause one of the shops stated that it is a coconut fragrance. I don't sense any coconut so far! (4 minutes) just a wooly green notes on top of figs leaves. More like a dewy greens and rain waters on fig leaves.

It's a good choice for fig leaves and watery fragrance lovers, but not mine.

suzzel

Aleccsi, I'll trade you my skin for yours? Why won't any green or citrus notes pop on my skin and any gourmand notes get amped up?

This is rather nice, but at least on me sweeter than I prefer and not as green. Does smell like fig, but keeps bringing sweet licorice to my mind.
Has some "masculine" coded notes I don't really love (I guess woods and stuff, but to me this type of accord always just reads "aftershave", in a boring way).
Was hoping for more galbanum - most of it's gone before even the ethanol is gone.
Creamy-nutty, subtle coconut notes last a long time.
Good longevity on hair & clothes. Sillage may be low, or it may be prone to numb the sense of smell, not sure.

@bronstein

Wow. You uploaded a review of this perfume on 23 May 2017 (I'm not quoting from something written in the 19th century. Just thought I should qualify this, in case anyone is under any misapprehension); I have included a selection of quotes from it below.

"...it was created during the heydays of the 1990s gender-confusing era."
"...the question remains unanswered who is supposed to wear it nowadays..."
"Women should be aware that the 1990s are long over. Seen from that perspective this one's a relic from a long gone era, suitable only for women who haven't woken up since."

Momentarily, I considered whether your comments were tongue in cheek.

Then I checked some of your other reviews, and I have to say you seem really (for want of a better term) - obsessed - by whether fragrances "should" be worn by men or women. Scrolling down I got to your review of Boucheron by Boucheron: "A nice one for TRUE (my emphasis) women, deep and sensuous".

I am almost speechless.

Wow. Just... Wow.

cedar_lea

A nice green fig leaf that has a sweet almost floral drydown and fades in a few hours.

I definitely prefer Hermes Jardin Mediterranian for a green leafy fig, and not just for the longevity.

Milascent

Fresh, citrus, green opening settles down quickly to a more soft green leaf with a slight of soft caramel, perhaps a coconut … still green sweetness.
If I tested this scent blind, I would not think, “oh this is fig” the way I get hat impression in the opening of Un Jardin En Mediterranee. While UJM changes to a sharper green, sour spicy, P Figuier keeps going tender - sweet - coconut and almond milky, while dancing on the top of the green notes.
Overall, a nice and interesting scent that stays close to the skin. However, I hope one day it will ‘move’ me the way I anticipated it would, while I was yearning to see it in my fume collection.
Now, what’s the lesson of that? -:)

chanka

Opening of AP premier f. and Díptique phyloso. is same
Dry down little bit different
Lartisan p last longer in comparision with Diptique otd and odp too!
After few hours i can smell on my clothes some signs of AP but Diptique disapeared very fast and no trace after it
Both very nice

skyelightfetish

Amazing stuff.

I tried other, cheaper fig scents (Demeter/Lib of Fragrance and Body Shop ones) but they both went too close to the fruit for me.

This is fantastically woody and green, while being recognisably fig. I can literally smell the tannins of the bark.

On a right day, this might be perfect.

Black_Swan

When I tried this one I fell in love with it for it's very unique fig scent - it's also fresh, woody, and slightly sweet, and has an interesting dry down that smells nicely green to me. It was like nothing else I'd smelled but so lovely and wearable at the same time - for me that's a recipe for a FB. Then I tried Philosykos to compare and see which one I liked better. For me, Philosykos pales in comparison - it just falls flat. Premier Figuier has so much more depth and layering and has a stronger and clearer fig smell. No contest for me.

tommy_girl

In my country there's a superstition that fig trees are places of gathering elves and sprites. Even though I get easily frightened by such superstitious beliefs about supernatural beings, I won't hesitate to stay near a fig tree that smells like premier figuier.
Premier figuier is all about fresh woods mixed with nutty, fruity notes that make it more adorable. It doesn't smell exactly sexy, but it's very pleasant and natural. The fig over here is nothing like womanity or any other fig perfume I've smelt before (I haven't tried italian summer fig), but it's better and more natural than all of them.
As it stays on skin, sweet notes become bolder. I even thought I smelt some flowers that I was unable to detect. but I see there is no flower at all. However it doesn't make it inappropriate for spring. It's something you can wear whenever you'd like to. I can imagine one sitting under or near a fig tree with a cup of tea and some dates while wearing premier figuer.
I think the long lasting power is great. The sillage is also good, considering the fact that it's not trying to hard to get attention. The dry down is a very light vanilla milky accord

bronni666

i could smell mostly fig, which i'm sure this is what its all about. there was no underlying floral prettiness which was still yet to emerge.
no real silage and just a faint trace after 2 hours on my skin.

in my opinion, i would be happy putting this one away in the masculine zone.

gedlive

A nice green fig, but I like Philosykos fig better, its more raw, green and woody.
This is more feminine, Philosykos more raw and manly perhaps.
It's very nice but you need to sample, its hard to discribe where it lies in the fig fragrance spectrum. L'Artisan Caligna, having more of the fig milk, more complex and most feminine of the fig
frags.
A bit to polished and neet.

Jyrhara

This is a gentle fragrance, joyful and classy at the same time, not a compliment getter, more of a summer wear-to-work perfume. I like it, and if I was gifted a bottle I probably wouldn't give it away, but it doesn't wow me enough to buy it. Still it has it's charm, it's sweet and elegant at the same time.

gtabasso

It is a nice, green fig leaf that is very soft and rounded without the sharpness many have, such as Philosykos. It is very much a skin scent. Nothing special. Not a juicy fig fruit.

Betsywoolbright

Maybe it's just because I tried from a splash decant vial, but this had zero sillage and longevity. It smells good, like a stream lined with broad leafed trees. But I have to press my nose to my wrist to detect the scent, after only a few minutes.

polly golightly

OTA Mom

Such an intense bowl-you-over green beginning that mellows into a lovely juicy fig after about half an hour. The longevity on this one was fabulous--could still noticeably detect the next morning. I will be purchasing a FB of this one.

bronstein

Yes, after some time it develops into Philosykus, but at first sniff it appears like a more classy version of CK's Truth Men. This is interesting, because I regard both Truth Men as well as Philosykus as male scents, while this one is declared as female. However, I don't get anything particularly female out of it. Maybe it is meant that way, as it was created during the heydays of the 1990s gender-confusing era.

Therefore, while this one certainly has class, the question remains unanswered who is supposed to wear it nowadays. Men should stick to the much cheaper Truth Men and Philosykus, which, in addition, are still modern enough for our age. Women should be aware that the 1990s are long over. Seen from that perspective this one's a relic from a long gone era, suitable only for women who haven't woken up since.

NO FIG
_______________________________________________________

I've always liked fig, so I was quite interested into discovering this fig fragrance by L'Artisan Parfumeur.

However, I was very disappointed by it, because I don't get any fig. I got only a burst of sharp green notes, but nothing more. No fig, no coconut, no sandalwood.

Longetivity: - 4/10
Sillage: - 4/10

All in all: 1 out of 10 points (subjective: no fig, no points)

ayh210

Opening is really sharp and green but mellows out pretty quickly to a sort of synthetic smelling coconut fig...doesn't last long though...and then it's gone. Sort of reminds me of a popular coco-nutty bath and body works lotion/handsoap from my teen years.

6/10

imperceptible sillage, poor longevity

Lucy Peach

Love the opening of Premier Figuier. The greenest green, very natural almost mouth-wateringly juicy for the first 15 minutes. A bit like fresh cut dewy grass. Wish it lasted a bit longer. Then the sweetness kicks in and on my skin creamy coconut and dried fruits in the drydown. I am liking this better in the cooler Autumn or in Spring.

amyewest

Agree with other reviewers on the prevalence of the bitter green / sweet combination in general, but I don't smell coconut specifically or other fruits. Of course, I can't remember the last time I smelled a fresh coconut, so what do I know? To me, Figuier's sweetness straddles floral sweet and candy sweet. I do smell the sandalwood just barely. What I'm really reminded of though is the tuberose in Narcotic Venus. NV has a much stronger almond facet to its floral note, but even so, v similar. I think this one falls in the "l appreciate the artistry, but don't actually like it that much" category.

empathyboy

I like this more and more with the passing of time. When I first bought it, I liked it but didn't love it. Now I truly love it. It is smells so natural and 'good'. It has that same bitter freshness that you might have experienced when snapping the green stem of a leaf and the sap of the plant oozes out. Whenever I wear this, I always spray some on the sleeve of my shirt where it clings all day long. I lift my wrist to my nose throughout the day and escape for a few moments to a sanctuary a million miles away from the busy office. I am astounded that this is not listed as unisex.

Moonflower11

Tried a sample, it' similar to Philosykos but more sweet. I really love it but on me it lasts nothing so I prefer to buy Diptyque

Nura

Tried Premier Figuier today and I don't really find that Diptyque's Philosykos (eau de parfum especially) is very similar to Premier Figuier. To me it was:

Premier Figuier = fig + grass
Philosykos = fig + coconut

Both are quite nice.

laetitiavp

kateapple

I think I'd like this better without the coconut. This scent is very green, slightly bitter, and very realistic, but the coconut note takes away from the fig in my opinion. I like the freshness of the initial spray - very green, like you've got your face in a fig tree. The coconut makes it milky though, and milky and green don't mesh well together for me. This scent is also very fleeting - the first hour it's nice, then it becomes a skin skin and soon after is gone completely, with no trace you've been wearing it at all. I'm on the fence about this one. It's not a bad smell, but it's not great either. The longevity issue coupled with the coconut just doesn't win me over.

pauroj

smells exactly like philosykos, is nice very realistic

Allen-at-home

Since Piment Brulant is a favorite, I had high hopes for Premier Figuier. But rather than focusing on the actual fig fruit, PF is about the leaves and stems! I am beginning to think the fascinating Piment Brulant was a fluke because I haven’t found another L’Artisan fragrance that interests me. So my search for a good ripe, juicy fig continues, and, as I have been told, there are several to choose from.

The green fig leaves transported me to my childhood backyard. I grew up with a fig tree right outside my window. It was both a subject of great joy and terror. Joy at the candy-like fruits I would pluck from its smooth and sinewy branches and terror at the shadows the gnarled branches would conjure up in the dark and steal my sleep.

Smelling the fig leaves made me so relaxed. As if the verdant elixir hit an olfactory switch somewhere and immediately soothed away stress and tension. Tension Tonic.

It's dry down to coconut was not very pleasing. Not that I don't like coconut, just that I don't see how it fits with figs. It smelled like coconut ice cream. A smell I associate with beach towns in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

So is it the Greek Isles or the Caribbean?

Interesting but not really for me.
I find its value in its aromatherapy qualities though.

This fragrance to my nose is more green than I prefer. It is more fig tree than fruity fig. It opens rather fresh and sharp, with lime, almond, fig leaf and sandalwood taking center stage. Its not too sweet. It all eventually recedes in about 2 hours into a very soft close to the skin scent of figgy coconut resting on a bit of woods. In another hour or so I can barely tell it was ever there. It's nice for spring but my fig of choice is LD Figue Sauvage.

Museumgal

This is abrasively green in the opening but when it calms down it is a still green but fresh milky fig. It is one that is too green for me though, I like fig better in something like Bvlgari The Rouge. It still has a nutty, woody quality -- the coconut helps a lot with smoothing it out. Very light projection and last 3 hours.

gomt

Luscious fig doused in coconut water is what I get. Not my cup of tea at all, but if you're a fan of mouth-watering fig, or light exotic scents in general, go for it. It's refreshing, relaxing, and doesn't smell cheap.

Soft sillage, moderate longevity.

sleepy*weasel

Lovely stuff, fresh without being harsh, exciting to the nose, with the milky smoothness of a freshly opened coconut. I too would like to bathe in this! I'm very sad that it only lasts 1-2 hours although I might try using the range, to increase the longevity. I'm not a fruity fig fan but this isn't fruit, this is green, surely one of the best ever. Love it.

Update: even better on a very cold morning in winter. The green fig is extra-creamy, and lasts a lot longer - 5 hours on me. Give it a try on a January morning! :)

Arabian Knight

This is a beautiful balmy scent, very cool, creamy and fresh. It smells like body milk feels.

I suppose it's unisex enough, although I do feel the soft sweetness leans more toward feminine, whereas "Philosykos" smells sharper and more green. It is very natural smelling. I've really come to appreciate this house now thanks to this and Fou d'Absinthe.

For people complaining about longevity: The tester strip that I sprayed 6 hours ago still smells quite strongly of glorious creamy figs and coconut.
Spray it on your clothes and see if it lasts longer. Any fig scent that I've encountered has always been more of a skin scent anyway.

shuuu

Olivia Giacobetti is really good at making anything does't last with tiny projection …..

Premier Figuier L`Artisan is quite similar to Philosykos ..

I consider Premier Figuier more pleasant , less dusty and fig tree smell ..

But this one lasts even shorter than Philosykos ….

disappointed ...

I've written about PF before, but I had to return to add some more.

Mostly, I want to convey that it is THE yummiest, most addictive fragrance in my collection.

When I first wore it, back then, it seemed to me that it was fading after a couple of hours. But lately when I'm wearing it, it swims around me for ages, and if I smell the places I've sprayed, it's definitely detectable.

I doubt it's a skin chemistry change, or maybe I'm just smelling it better this time around, but perhaps the key with this girl is to spray her a few times over two separate occasions - when getting ready, and maybe re-applying as you leave the house, for that added oomph. I've stated on the PFE comments that I think PFE is probably worth the bit extra you spend, but I do have to say that perhaps I am preferring PF. There's a subtlety to it I really love, and the Extreme version is certainly woodier.

Also, it struck me that one of the feelings about this fragrance, even though it feels warm and sensuous and inviting and sunny, is that something about the ripeness, the greenness, reminds me of that pre-storm air smell. Ozone and leaf. It's really quite exciting. That's the feeling this fragrance gives me... anticipation, and life. And it is fruity and sea-side feeling without smelling cheap. There's some nuance to it and a note, not sure which one, which makes it smell incredibly classic and classy. I wish I knew what note is was - it's seductive and enthralling.

elseemoonz

Philosykos is the more smooth, suave, and charming sister to this scent. Premier Figuier has the same fig and coconut, but they appear harsh and loud, and after a few hours the scent fades to an overpowering cheap sandalwood. Try Philosykos!

Eloquaint

I'm not sure I'm getting the punch line of fig perfumes.

After I wrote about Diptyque's Philosykos a couple of months ago, Yurpdod very kindly sent me this piece of information about fig perfumes in general: "When you're recreating a fig note, the two most basic components you need are aldehyde C10 and stemone. Stemone has a sort of bitter green smell, and aldehyde C10 smells very strongly of coconut. When they combine they smell exactly like fig. That's why you see coconut and fig together so often in fragrances, because you can't really have fig without coconut, as far as aromachemicals go."

Premier Figuier opens with a very strong green leaf smell, and yes, it smells of fig. I've never smelled an actual fig leaf (no possibility of cultivating fig trees hereabouts. Any that survived the first winter would immediately drown), but I know what leaves in general smell like, particularly when you crush them, and I know what figs smell like, so ok, there we are. And then, after maybe 20 minutes, it does begin to smell like a good, milky coconut. An hour or so later I smell cut grass and coconut; then I lose the grass and just get coconut for the rest of the day.

It's a pleasant series of smells, but since I lose the fig almost immediately, I wonder why I should pay so much for what is, essentially, the fragrance of suntan lotion. Does this happen to the rest of you? Fleeting fig and durable coconut? Or is my chemistry having fun with me?

I like Philosykos better.

Lana148

Great fig fragrance. There are also others nice fig fragrances:

Acqua di Parma Fico di Amalfi - lemony fig.

Un Jardin En Mediterranee Hermes - sweet, ripen fig fruit.

Diptyque Philosykos is the most realistic fig tree/leaf scent.

L'artisan is a bit more "perfumey", less woody then Diptyque.

Bois Naufrage Parfumerie Generale similar to L'artisan and maybe even better.

Jardins de Kerylos Parfumerie Generale - baby brother of Philosykos, much gentler and sweeter.

freakypirate

Received a sample as part of the sample set by L'Artisan Parfumeur. I tested it for a day, another day and the next one too, emptying the tester vial, and decided to order a bottle. I could shower in this stuff! Actually, I do, because I keep spraying it on. I'm addicted. And I should have bought the 100ml bottle instead of the 50ml...

So, what is it that gets me so excited? The perfume opens very green, like cut grass and leaves and bark, very refreshing. After that, the fig starts to come along with a hint of fruitiness and the creamy coconut comes into play, completing the cocktail. The scent feels soothing for me and I think it is a perfect summer scent for days in the park or to the office.

Although I absolutely love the notes, I'm disappointed with the poor longevity (even for an EDT). After 2-3 hours the fig becomes less clear but is still there close to the skin. Sillage is soft to moderate.

To me, this is a gourmand, and makes me wonder what a cool sweet fig & creamy coconut milkshake would taste like. I should try and make one!

alexis.mascitti

Ordered a sample of this last year along with several others for testing, and this was the one that I found weirdly addictive. So unlike other scents, it captures a both green freshness and sweet warmth - like sunlight filtering through leaves on a hot summer day. Sometimes I'm in the mood for that "freshness" being citrus notes, sometimes I prefer the freshness to be more green, and this is definitely the latter. I haven't tried the other fig fragrances that others have mentioned, so I can't offer comparisons, but this is a really nicely done fragrance.

Animato

Before I even tried this out I bought a couple of figs to do some "research". Well. Let's just say even though figs taste delicious the ones I bought didn't smell very much of... anything. So I am still ignorant concerning how well this perfume imitates the real deal. In any case. I love the journey it puts me through!

The top notes smell of frizzy and almost sharp leaf notes. Beautiful! If you ask me ; perfect for summer. It will develop within minutes into a coconutty and fleshy sweet scent, reminicent to me of exotic juice and salty air. Splendid. Premier Figuier is warm and fresh at the same time which makes me feel like I'm sunbathing. It's a remarkable feeling just by wearing a perfume and I like it.

It last only for a couple of hours on me, I get 3-5 hours of splendour before I reapply. If I keep my nose close to my skin though I can tell it is still there 6+ hours later.

alexborderie

This scent was recommended to me by my aunt who loves it. So I went to Barney's and got her a sample and ended up going back to buy my self a bottle.

I wear this scent all of the time. I like the scents that smell of an English garden and that's what this reminds me of. Like Sherwood forest on a beautiful summer day at 78 degrees. This scent is either loved or hated. I wear it to work during the day and I get compliments on it. Though it is a bit feminine, it can pass as very mature and masculine if combined with the right body chemistry and outfit.

I love this.

waternight

Opens very woody – dry sandalwood, VERY green fig leaves, and a faint touch of almond milk, sweetening it up just a hint. This is very green – almost grassy. After a minute, the stringy-pulpy-woody-ness softens a bit and light, fresh, creamy almond milk shows a bit more of its face. Make no mistake, however – the fibrous greenery of this scent is powerful, dominant, and never goes away. Thankfully, I am not getting the “dried fruits” that I got from Cartier Panthère, which was sickly, plastic sweet. After a few more minutes, this becomes even creamier and less aggressively green – almond milk and coconut intertwine with the woody backbone of the scent, and lend a sweet innocence and chastity to the scent. I’ve smelled a lot of scents like this one – fig, green, woody, almonds…so far, this one is the most well- and evenly-blended, as well as the most vegetal in nature. After a while, this takes on a slightly musky note, which keeps this from being TOO woody/green. Really well done!

lalaps

This smells just like green leaves. It's so perky and fresh. It's not really my style, but I do like it. I've got most of my sample left if anyone's interested.

Aleksandja

Reminds me of torn leaves and peeled potato. Nice milky, fuit quality commes through but only last a while before the whole thing fades away. Disappointed.

woodlandwalk

Three fig comparisons coming up!..

I've worn Philosykos since 2008 and it's my old faithful for summer days, so I've never felt the need for another fig. It was just yesterday I tested Premier Figuier for the first time, side-by-side with Buddha's Fig by Infusion Organique, so if you're a fig lover you might be interested in the comparisons.

Philosykos is definitely the most woody. Next to the other two its freshly snapped twig-sap green is very apparent. Premier Figuier is softer, milkier and lighter, less intensely green.

Buddha's Fig actually has more in common with Philosykos than Premier Figuier - that same green, twig-sap note, but in Buddha's Fig it's even drier, reminding me of a newly cut potato, very savoury - there's a touch of something mineral which reminds me of soil

Of all three, Philosykos and Buddha's Fig seem the most fig-like - if you're talking about a green fig plucked fresh from the tree, as opposed to the syrupy rich purple ripe variety you see in the shops more often.

I definitely know the difference as I lived in Greece for a year, and when I'd go for a walk to the sea I'd pick figs from two fig trees - the purple and the green. Purple are sweeter and more juicy, with more of the slightly decaying note you find in tropical fruit/flowers. The green fig is drier and far more savoury. Slightly dusty.

Premier Figuier seems the least photo realistic and the least green/dry. I think another reviewer mentioned that it's slightly 'wetter' and I agree. It's also a tiny touch sweeter, fruitier maybe creamier, though sweet doesn't describe the general smell.

As for my favourites - I think if you enjoy fig you'd enjoy all three, but since I'm a cedar-wood lover, it's still Philosykos for me, with Premier coming second because the mineral/metalic note in Buddha's Fig is less restful, which I think might make it more likeable for men, who might find the other two a little sweet and soft. All are totally unisex though.

Oliva Giacobetti is an amazing nose, and the inventor of the fig perfume, but Buddha's Fig is amazing for the low cost, so if you're on a tight budget I recommend it highly as an alternative to the other two.

Philosykos is the strongest, and if it's in EDP there's no contest

hippiechick13

I've experienced something new and beautiful with this fragrance. I feel speechless, yet there are particular feelings and visions that accompany this fragrance, a sense of excitement. It stirs something in me.

It's a scent of the sea, perhaps when I was a young girl in Marmaris on the shores of Turkey, but it is a scent more than tropical and sand, but something so unexpected and arresting:

I see green velvet, old beaded lampshades, dark wood in darker studies, leather bounded books. It's something perhaps a secretary such as myself would wear, or a 1930's librarian with a penchant for hidden bars and the taboo - cigarettes, liquor, sex. It's a fragrance for red lips as much as it is for ocean breakers. It recalls a time and a place hazy in my mind, visited once upon a time long ago. A reassuring mood. Old world as it certainly is, it conjures something faded and retro, and too, contemporary nostalgia. But there are summer evenings to be found here, truly. There is a steam and haze to this, an impression of smoke perhaps. It's telling me so many stories. It's truly a perfume made of miracle and fantasy.

It defies logic. It unfolds its story slowly, quietly, like a good thriller.

It feels seductive, frisky, cerebral and mysterious. It's marvellous.

Unpredictability tempered with a wonderful charm.

For the woman who is more than she seems.

A fragrance that feels like home.

On another note, I find it interesting that other writers have commented on its being relaxing, and wistful. It has both these qualities in abundance, even though it hugs the skin and doesn't shout.

Another thing that was interesting for me, is how much the coconut stands out. It's alluring and complex. But not too buttery or rich. The SA who I first discussed the product with smelled my wrist and was obviously numb to smells as he said he couldn't smell it on me and it would be gone in the hour, but I could definitely smell it - I had the impression that he and I had smelled too many perfumes, and I also had sprayed a little of the Ambre, which, as we know, is a much deeper and abiding fragrance and noticed before all others. However only a few minutes after speaking with that SA, as I browsed another counter, a SA there said "are you wearing coconut?" with this delighted look, and I told her that I was and that it was actually a fig perfume. She asked about it and I told her it was L'Artisan.

"As soon as you came up I could smell it. It's great, it smells like coconut, and so fresh!"

I don't know how they do it. But there's an elegance to it as it dries down that is what escapes me - it goes beyond words, and touches on the imagery I have divulged. A pleasant overall effect.

StellaDiverFlynn

A fig tree in a bottle. The opening of Premier Figuier is sparkling. There is the green part, conjuring the verdant fig leaves. The fig fruit is not far, emanating a milky sweetness. Then the coconut, the dried fruits and almonds join in, complement perfectly the milky sweetness of the fig. The whole composition remains ethereal and sheer like other l'Artisan Parfumeur creations, thus avoiding becoming cloying, but soothing and comforting. Along the wear, the woody components become more prominent, thus complete the 'fig tree' from top to bottom.

The sillage is very close to skin and the longevity is around 5 hours. Unlike Annick Goutal Ninfeo Mio or Hermès Un Jardin en Mediterannée that focus on the green fig leaves, or Thierry Mugler Womanity or Comptoir Sud Pacifique Coco Figue on the savoury fig fruits, Premier Figuier manages to recreate an abstract image of an entire 'fig tree', along with the leaves and fruits. A fig fan should definitely give it a try.

WendyMH

Lovely fresh green fig mixed with almond milk, coconut and a light touch of sandalwood. Not too sweet at all, just beautiful, fresh, garden of eden fignificence. Slightly more complex than Philosykos (which I also looooove) and not quite as heady. Beautiful scent for the day.

MLK

This one is just as good as Philosykos maybe because they are both created by Olivia Giacobetti. Both amazing fig fragrances.

littlepepperz

This is lovely. I love fig, coconut and Philosykos, this one is just another creation in that chain of fragrances.

I find it full of sandalwood, a little bit dry. I would not call it green, it's defenitely less green than Philosykos, definitely not as juicy and not as warm and round as the Extreme version. Drydown, on me, it's pure fig tree bark and sandalwood/paper dry almond flakes.
It doesn't have a great sillage.

If you like figs, this is just yet another creation to appreciate, however quite pricey.

zucchera

Can´t feel this perfume at all after 20 minutes, and maybe it´s good because during the 20 minutes I could only feel the scent of green grass nothing else.

pravda48

It's such a wonderful soft scent! Real fresh fig skin and true unsweetened milk right out of a coconut. Very realistic and beautiful, calming even. However it is so soft for the price! I'd really rather someone around me be able to smell the lovely bouquet I'm wearing too, so it's not quite a winner for me since I like what I wear to catch others' notice too.

ankama

This is such a lovely scent. When I first tried my sample on paper I wasn't too impressed and put it away. Then some months later I decided to test it on skin and really loved it! It's a green, elegant, sophisticated, refreshing and relaxing pefume all at the same time. Hard to believe? Just try it (on skin!). Works very well on these hot summer days. I had to have it right away and think it's a masterpiece.

tourmali45

Feminine fig scent because of the vibrant coconut note and a touch of almond. Those two make the whole composition creamier and not so sharp, although it stays non-sweet and pleasantly bitter. I'm comparing L'Atisan fig with the Molinard Fleur de Figuier which in my book is a more masculine fig scent.
I noticed that when I want a blast of freshness similar in effect to a breath of sharp cold air I reach for Molinard FdF, when I'd like a cosier and not so demanding fig scent - I use Premier Figuier.

raw umber

Celina, if you feel that this perfume is like "being knocked out with a fig tree," you might want to do a comparison with Jo Malone's Wild Fig and Cassis. It is a wonderful, realistically direct scent, a very green and wet tree full of ripe, dark juicy figs. Premier Figuier is slightly more delicate and impressionistic composition, though it is a much cooler, greener fragrance than the sweet, ethereal and linear Philosykos, which conjures pale pink and lavender hues..

Fico Di Amalfi was my first fig fragrance experience, but after PF, Jo Malone, and Philosykos, I returned to this once beloved fragrance and realized the love had completely vanished.

Unlike the fig in Un Jardin en Mediterranee' by Hermes (my new favorite fig), which is augmented by tomato plants, herbs, flowers, and compost, Fico Di Amalfi portrays a sharp fig which has been skewed and distorted by its surrounding environment, creating an over-ripe, pungent quality which is both strong and muddy (mud not in the sense of wet earth, but in confusion).

PF is a very nice middle ground. It features the fig and fig tree, it's light and refreshing, but it also has an impressionistic composition, which accurately communicates the poetic aspect of the true to life experience. To do this is perhaps more of a feat than to create a true to life fig tree scent (JM), or to be able to distill the most pleasant, soft, and pure aspects of the fig fruit itself (Philosykos)... That is up to the wearer.

josemcampos

Very well balanced perfume. Sweet fig and fruity notes ieves it a young orientated and unisex perfume. Balanced slighty to the femenine side, I see a man can wearing it on the night, in a romantic dinner. One of the best fig perfumes I have ever tried. A classic one.

rickyrebarco

I love the topnotes of this fragrance, the green fig leaves and the tree and its roots, very refreshing and unexpected, but then these fig jam notes dart in and out and and the whole thing becomes heavy and wet smelling to me. Very interesting and since it was the first fig fragrance to feature the whole plant it's considered a "classic" I guess, but it's not wearable to me. I totally agree with MrsLetterO in her take on this one.

PricklyAndHot

This fig fragrance smells too grassy! The fig leave is the leading note in it for sure. I'm not a fan of grassy fragrances, but it smells unusual enough.

Not my cup of tea, but I like the idea.

aidaida

This is most sensual green, vegetal scent I know. Sensual and vegetal? Isn't it a contradiction? Well, in this case, it's not.
This fig scent is extremly natural, evokes the moment when a fig is broken from the branch of the tree and a drop of moisture arises. The scent of an ancient, prolifical vegetation, which is mellowed by the coconut and almond milk. These fragile notes are held together by the woods.
Innocent and sensual like the garden of Eden.
The Song of Songs goes like this:
"the lush foliage is our canopied bed,
the cedars are the beams of our bedroom chamber"

MrsLetterO

It never ceases to amaze me how different our experience of fragrance is. I just tried this out recently and I can't believe people have used words like "light" and "ethereal". On me first off it's an absolute Blast of whole fig tree with over-ripe cut fruit, broken leaves, stems, bark, and soil. It's earthy, almost shockingly so. I nearly wanted to wash it straight off. It settles down after about 30 minutes, the creamy slightly coconut feel begins to emerge. It's still rather fresh, but also dark, like you rolled on the ground at night under the tree, on top of the fallen fruit. I want to love it but it evades me, I'm more curious. I can smell it over and over but I don't want to wear it or smell of it. It's more of a work of art. An ode to fig trees.

dkny27

A grassy fig, with a powdery backdrop of leaves and coconut. Vanilla would be a wonderful scent to layer with this. A niche that certainly speaks for itself and it develops even more beautifully as it is worn.

TakaBeata

This one reminds Omnia Bvulgari and Bissoumine a l'ombre du figuie...To me this is gently, sweet and very the pleasant scent. A little African. :)

TillyWave_archive

Here's is my second review, because I did end up finding a reasonably priced bottle of the EDT.

The EDT concentration is a clearer interpretation of fig than the EDP. Here is a creamy coconut/fig note, with strong woods underneath, and a green that is SO green it reminds me of a fresh canteloupe rind snapped in half.

The lasting power is very good, however projection is nil if you're looking for that sort of thing. Also, I find this to be very, very linear, the scent doesn't change too much, it simply eventually fades out.

I am happy that I found my bottle, but because of it's linear-ness, I don't wear it as much as much as I thought I would. Very good none the less, especially for those of us who love wood-green fragrances. I still will not pay L'Artisan prices for any of their stuff--unless I win the lottery.

Louw

This is gorgeous. The fig is done just right - slightly green, slightly nutty, not overripe. Just beautiful.

However, on me it has no staying power whatsoever which is not good given that it's very expensive! My advice to fig-lovers is try Diptyque's Philosykos instead - it's also quite expensive but very similar and with much more staying power.

NiteAngel

At first the almond milk is really present, leaving its place to a crisp leafy green reminding of a sunny summer day in the park. The fig is present yet discreet all wear long. Definitely my favorite from L’Artisan, which tends to have very distinctive scents, but this one is distinction up another level. Ideal for office/day wear, especially with the upcoming summer.

OlfractalInfemme

This fragrance provides a full-on fig experience, fruits and leaves! It 'greens' over time, eventually morphing into an herby fragrant basil. It reminds me of a lady watering herbs at her kitchen window. Good silage, longevity 3/5.

Chris v.V.

I'm so glad I got a sample of this! I could see owning a bottle.

On me? Starts off as a damp grassy green, as if I'm walking through a recently rained-on forest. Mellows to a woody fig. Not sensing any fruit notes on my skin. Just forest green and fig -- which I am enjoying the heck out of.

My only negative: wish it were a wee bit stronger, and lasted longer.

lfmars98

This is a very nice scent. Starts out green and slightly soapy for about the first 30 minutes before drying down to a nice creamy coconut smell. Good sillage. I'm not sure about the longevity; I still smelled it on my skin 6 hours after I took a shower, so I think it's pretty good especially in the spring and summer. 8.25/10

sherapop

Now that fig is all the rage, I suppose that every fig frag needs to reference the original, L'Artisan Parfumeur PREMIER FIGUIER, named evidently to commemorate the fact that it came first! How does it measure up, in retrospect?

To my nose, PREMIER FIGUIER is neither a floral fruity nor a gourmand but an oriental woody fragrance, for the fig combines with the almond to impart a mild spiciness to the whole woody-green mix. The woody note smells vaguely like that in BOIS FARINE: smooth, powdery, and dry.

I agree with Celina that the fig is here in its entirety, as though the entire fig tree was chopped up and soaked before distilling it down to its essence, presented here. The coconut adds a creaminess to this scent which really is not very sweet at all, thanks in part no doubt to the asafoetida, which happily is used only sparingly in this composition.

I like PREMIER FIGUIER more than some recent fig-focused fragrances that I've tried, but probably not enough to warrant adding it to my collection.

Rosario

My favourite fig-based scent. Subtle, fresh, creamy, romantic, summery - the fig note is introduced elegantly, surrounded by green herbs and sweet white flowers. I prefer this to Phylosikos (sp?), which is a harsher, more resinous version of fig. Phylosikos was great as a room spray, but too dominant on my skin.

oopsfauxpas

this could change, it probably will, but upon getting it 4 days ago it is winning like secretariat in my favorite perfume ever contest. i don't think ANY perfume has held that spot for 4 days.

it is just perfect.

i can't wait to try the edp, but i know they diddled w/the recipe for that one, and i really wish they hadn't.

i'll let you know.

Gosha

Premier Figuier is fresh, somehow "herby" and lightly earthy and very green with a pinch of fruitiness.I would call it "green-woody-fruity" instead of "floral-fruity". Because I personally CAN see how this "captures the essence of the entire fig tree". With the green leaves, tree bark, fruits and perhaps even the roots (earthy). To me this scent brings very summery feelings and surprisingly there is also something almost "sea-breezy" in there. Quite often I find it difficult to detect lime in non-citrusy fragrances, but here I get the lime-coconut combo very strongly and I love it! (Some sources such as Luckyscent do not mention lime, but I am definitely getting it here). There is a touch of mellow sweetness in there as well that seems to tame to fresh/sharp green notes - and that might be the sandalwood.
Great for everyday wear...for the office or meetings, walk on the beach, lunch or afternoon drink...well...great for about anywhere! :-)
Unfortunately as with many of those light fragrances, the longevity is not good.

celina

This scent should capture "the essence of the entire fig tree" .

Well, the first time I tried this scent I thought I was knocked out by a fig tree. The sharp green and woody notes are contrasted by the sweetness of coconut. Sorry, but this construction is unbalanced. The coconut proportion is not right.

After 20 min, finally, the green fig leaves note calms down, the sandalwood and a hint of almond come through.
Really, there is nothing else to say.

The only quality: it lasts longer than other L' Artisan scents.
Let me add something nice: I like the dry down, more subtle, soft, personal and ...friendly.

However, I like the Premier Figuier Extreme more. It is better balanced than the original. It is still green but warmer and more nuanced.

Final note: I would not consider them part of the best of L'Artisan, neither memorable for the fig inspired fragrances. There are much better choices out there.

Sorry, 5/10

Taxidermy

It smells exactly like fresh plums. Innocent, cute and modern at the same time. Very upbeat!:)

verity

This is a beautiful veil scent. I can wear this like a second skin, a barely there aura of something pleasant, and there is the fig. Quite a pure scent, not for making a statement, but it definitely makes a subtle impression.I think fig must suit my skin as I get many compliments on this and Phylosykos, but for me they are quite different versions of the same note. L'artisan is softer and hazier, and doesnt have the same kick as Phylosykos. I love this if I want to smell nice, but to leave people wonderin if or what I was wearing, perhaps in an interview or formal meeting, and at work when I dont want to overpower and still feel good.

dandy721

I smell it on my friend very very light, i mean i love the fig scent i used to wear in summer days it reminds me my grandma garden in the summer time. This parfume is too light.I prefer Fico di Amalfi by Acqua di Parma or Marc Jacobs Fig. They are not expencive and last more than this one

veruska

As eesija notes this is very light and ethereal. There's nothing wrong with that watercolor of fig fruit, but Philosykos i much more better on my skin that this is not needed. The fig leaf on the start is quite accurate but the fig fruit struggles with a deep resinous woody odor. The whole thing ends with a sweet gourmand thing but you reall have to stick your nose to your wrist to catch it.
