Rose Privée L'Artisan Parfumeur for women and men

Went through a 2ml sample, mostly used on warm days (70 degrees plus). Like the scent, the performance is okay at best. The opening has a note like moldy lemons, but that goes away fast and the scent is a crisp green rose. Very little longevity. Had a lovely movement where I was cooking over the stove and in the heat the perfume became extra special. everyscentisunisex but this one is especially unisex.

This is a green rose, crushed leafs, the flower and a hint of spice. If you are looking for a green rose scent without too much sweetness (but enough so as not to render it cold and austere) this is a good candidate. Gets a bit more honeyed an hour or so in, but without loosing the greenness. Good in the spring and early summer.

I've had this for at least two years, and ifvI took the time to look, I've likely already reviewed it, so I hope I'm not being redundant.
I know tastes change and that perfumes mature, but I had to upgrade this to a love after wearing it today. While I generally prefer jammy over greener roses, Rose Privée hits the sweet spot for me. I do consider it to be very well blended, and while Basil is there, though not prominent on me, I think it lends a slight, green freshness and slight sweetness as opposed to the bitterness of some green notes. But what I really enjoy is the combo of the rose with sweet hay. He could have gone more traditional and use a vetiver, causing this to swing more unisex that the feminine way I experience it, but I am so happy Duchaufour chose not to. It's not a favorite note of mine, which is an understatement.
It's difficult for me to pull out the other notes, though carnation clearly adds a touch of light spice, whole amber, infused throughout, also provides a elegant and grounding element to the base. Here again, I think many other perfumers might have chosen musk over amber, or at least in addition to it, but I think the amber allows the perfume to wear well through all seasons.
Projection and longevity are at best moderate, but among the L'Artisan canon, I'd say it's very good.
I'm getting to the point in my collecting where I'm finding myself more frequently purchasing backups of one's I love, and when I realized that my 1.7 oz bottle was only half full, I knew I needed another bottle.
My favorite rose-centric fragrance from the brand remains Drôle de Rose, but it's become harder and more costly to find and purchase. I've also discovered that it seems to turn faster than most other fragrances I own, so though they are different, I think that Rose Privée occupies that spot by default.

PS - I was pleased to see that an aquatic accord is listed here. I thought I was crazy, but I knew I smelled an aspect I could only describe as aquatic freshness though nothing in the notes indicated why I was detecting it!

I acquired a tester of this through a second-hand perfume purchase. This is a well-made rose fragrance, no doubt, but on me, it is quite sharp in the opening. 'Ew, no!' was my initial response. Now that I've been wearing it for half the day, I find it pleasant enough, it just that it wasn't the rose I expected. It could also be the chilly weather that is not allowing this to bloom appropriately, so I will try again once summer hits. It is a green, fresh, a bit sharp, herbaceous rose fragrance to my nose. I can see this smelling gorgeous on someone else or, again, maybe in warmer weather. If it blooms on me then, I will revise my review.

Aromatic rose, dry and spicy, intoxicating, incredible! I can't get enough of it in these hot humidy summer days. it has that bewitching enveloping smell of super-dry herbs and meadows, that comes from raked and baled hay from the fields in the late evenings, just before the sunset. My personal hypnotherapy and a SPA cabinet in one, it is so long-lasting and charming, I even prefer it to Drole de Rose, that used to be fave of mine among L'Artisans.

This is an odd one! I am still on a quest to find the perfect summer day scent of roses, mown hay, and warm skin. This is going very much in that direction, but doesn't quite hit all the notes. It starts off with a clear pink pepper note (strange that it's not listed), followed by a lingering rose. The basil, hay, violet leaves, carnation...they're all there, but rather than a top-mid-base journey, they feel kind of muddled together and it's hard to distinguish everything from one another. The spicy pepper also lingers and that, combined with the rose accord, definitely evokes Vitriol D'Oeillet by Lutens. It also brings to mind "modern rose chypres" like Narciso Rodriguez, Agent Provocateur, and Idylle, and then, of course, the more well made and interesting predecessors such as Coriandre. I get hay floating in and out, but I wish it was more of a distinct note and that the pepper wasn't so dominant. Interesting--just not what I "had in mind" when envisioning this scent.

What a fresh, lovely scent. My experience with this fragrance seems to differ somewhat from what I've read here.

This review is based on two sprays from the original bottle. As per the Artisan Parfumeur box, Rose Privée contains Rose de Mai, green mandarine, magnolia and hay.

Upon spraying, I was met with a strong, peppery green citrus blast (what I can now detect as being the mandarine, mixed with what seems like violet leaves and peppercorn). The rose then appears in all its green, fresh glory, accompanied by hay and a light touch of magnolia. The magnolia seems to add a slight citrusy feel to the ensemble, which remains until the dry down. As the mandarin subsides, the rose becomes stronger and stronger and the hay note takes a backseat.

After approximately two hours, I am left with a somewhat strong, clean musk (reminiscent of Narciso's musk from the tall bottles) mixed with a fresh green rose and a touch of white flower. The dry down reminds me of Guerlain Idylle (the drop-shaped bottle), which makes me wonder if there is a subtle touch of lilac in the formula. I detect no amber nor patchouli.

All in all, a lovely fragrance with moderate longevity and low sillage, great for those looking for a fresh, non-jammy rose that will offend no one. However, if you are not a fan of citrus or of Guerlain Idylle, then I suggest looking elsewhere.

Wow! At first, there is a strong blast of pink peppercorns! Curious, almost culinary, its one of the most attractive openings of any rose scent I've sniffed. The slap of Peruvian pepper-tree lookalike lasts barely a minute before its gone. But I'm already hooked. Not particularly sweet, this is one vigorous and aromatic shapeshifter!

After pink pepper, basil, violet leaf and carnation sneak in transmitting the spicy edge. Basil is really present throughout on my skin, also the undefined other herbs against smooth rose-magnolia backdrop. The whole composition dances merry-go-round with a bright light and innocent Rose de Mai in the middle just occasionally peeking out. Its undoubtedly rose scent, but such an unusual and cheeky one.

I agree that Rose Privee behaves as an eau de cologne- its built top-heavy with spice and herbs, and is probably not supposed to project far and wide over many hours. Its an appetizer, mood-lifter, piece of performance-art, carousel in sunlight. Wearing it feels like wandering into some celebrity chef's wild organic herb-and-edible-flower-garden just for a lunchbreak. To uncompress, inhale the green freshness, and leave soon with new energy and a solid belief that the world is a glorious place afterall.

There is no bitterness, no citrus, no lilac or violet, no damp patch on my skin. The drydown is sunny and warm amber with a hint of soapy rose. Recommended on the skin as on fabric pepper is amplified and herbs and rose won't come out to play. Exciting and unexpected.

EDIT: I purchased this with heavy discount that adds to the value in my eyes. For the limited longevity and projection, I would hesitate to buy for the higher price though.

Very strong red-pepper note (not listed) on the basis of earthy vetyver and fresh-cut pink park rose. Spicy, bitter and generally refreshing but not really a big like;(

Yes, it has a rose, also has a pretty solid amber base. So if it is a rose - I can not explain you what type of rose. Do not expect it is similar to any other rose perfume you tried before.

If you are tired of mainstream and want an intellectually stimulating rose - here you are.

What an interesting take on a rose perfume! I am just getting to know this, but I believe this one will become a love. Unlike other reviewers, I do get rose right from the beginning. I don't get a strong citrus smell, but I know it's there, providing some lift and a freshness I am not that accustomed to in rose centric fragrances. It doesn't take long before the herbaceous quality begins to come out. I never would have guessed basil if I didn't know it was in there, but if I concentrate, I can smell it, and it adds a little tang to the composition. Much to my surprise, I find the hay note very pleasing. It adds a natural sweetness, and makes this more of a country garden as opposed to a formal garden. The remaining florals contribute to that impression as well. I can't detect them individually, but they are part of the bouquet.
I purchased this blindly, as I am in the midst of a slight obsession with L'Artisan (and Annick Goutal as well) and this was available at such a great price I figured "Why not?". It is far away from another L'Artisan rose perfume that I ADORE, the pretty, pretty Drole de Rose, but it has it's own charms. I just know that I will appreciate this even more when the weather warms up. I had some trepidation after I ordered this and reading some of these reviews, but fortunately for me, this just works well with my chemistry. I'm starting to think that Bertrand Duchaufour can do no wrong.

EDIT 8/4/2020 - As I suspected, this performs differently in summer. After the initial blast of fresh, green rose, the herbaceous qualities emerge. I smell the basil and hay clearly now, and I like it very much! The floral are more muted, but still present. I find it more interesting in the warm weather. I don't have many herbaceous fragrances, as I haven't actually sought any out, but Priveé has piqued my interest and I may need to explore others!

I don't know if rose champagne has ever existed in wineries, but at my home it does exist 😀😎🍾🌹 Rose Privée by L'Artisan Parfumeur is a sparkling wine with rose petals which bubbles first and then turns to be dusty-sweet a bit sauer candy. I met Rose Privée in 2015, in Paris, when she just had been born. And do you know what? If I still remember those light rosy bubbles I need them to be with me😉

This was a bit perplexing with me, as always with rose. I have an ongoing issues with rose: it’s a scent I LOVE but often doesn’t go with me. And this scent is a classic-not-so-classic rose. It’s rose, but with some interesting twists (as always with L’Artisan)

It opens up as a super classic rose: strong rose with a very green undertone: very vetiver-y to me. It’s very fresh and strong but I do not get any grapefruit or citrus, nothing of that sort. Neither do I get… cat pee? No. The opening is quite classic and I’m not too much into it, that I must admit.

The scent quickly becomes more and more rose with a strong (to me, too much strong!) patchouli and amber. A classic patchouli rose, with some vague herbal notes of basil and hay, as well as some other flowers…

Overall it’s not one of my favs from this house, mainly because it’s not as original as others. It’s a good rose, but quite dejà-vu to me. I have several other rose fragrances (Penhaligon’s, La rose Pom Pom, Tocade etc.) but they are more on the fresh side, so I’m happy to own a more feminine and grown up rose. It’s well done, but not revolutionary in any way.

This was a blind buy, based on reviews and notes, I wanted fresh rose for summer. It has been three hours since I sprayed it and i can still smell it on my wrist, but close to the skin. Crispy and fresh opening, a bit soapy dry down but I like that. Also very unisex!

Rose Privee is the perfect "rose" fragrance for the person who doesn't really love rose but likes it well enough to wear something that possesses the softest and most gentle form of "The Queen of Flowers."
As others have stated, this starts out very green, but not in a grassy or herbaceous way, rather in an earthy yet refreshing manner. This is clearly attributable to the lovely hay and mint notes that bring a Spring like joyfulness to Privee.
But just when you think it's all about green, suddenly a soft and rosy spiciness kicks in due to the lovely melange of flowers, patchouli and amber which anchors it all to a dry down that is subtle yet quite heavenly.
Clearly a warm weather fragrance that is meant to be used with abandon due to it's "privee" manner.... "private and in secret."

Greener than you would expect. There's a soft rose, maybe a tea rose. It's delicate, and a little tart. It kind of evokes a flowered meadow that's near an English garden. I do like it, just not on my skin, as it is quite fresh. I have a 99% full bottle and would love to trade if anyone is interested.

I loved this last year and was looking forward to wearing it in the garden in the summer time but I think my tastes have changed as I find it too light now and there’s other summer scents I reach for. It’s a soft pretty rose, light musk and is very much a skin scent. I will have a soft spot for it as it switched me onto exploring rose scents.

Finally a bit of Rose emerges.... to be fair, it's settled into an unexpected softness. Gave it 2 hours.

Doesn't work on my skin at all. Opens with a synthetic blast of bitterness, rather generic drug store variety, not what is expected from a Perfumeur house. And too pricey for what it is. After waiting for an hour, no Rose emerged. No carnation. Mostly the greens. I don't like a sandpapery note that tickles my nose. Some magnolia. Perhaps I willed it in my desperation to justify the buy!
Don't be fooled by the list of notes. If you like rose, look elsewhere.Definitely unisex.

Just got it in a swap, first time trying.... something sparkling and pretty, rosey and very herbal at the same time, a bit of saltiness from a transparent amber. More herbs than roses, a bit citrus like too, very unisex, the beginning is super fresh, the ending reminds me of vetiver for some reason. Not a typical me ( really it's a gender free fragrance) but i love it , makes perfect sense for summer time!

Beautiful, delicate, more herbal than rosy. Herbal and in hay and culinary herbs, thyme, sage, camomile , and many others except basil . For some reason I do not smell the basil and I feel sad about it because I love sweet basil in perfumes. The rose is there but not strong , rather weak and hiding behind musks and dry herbs. I can sense a vague carnation spiciness , but no lilacs. In a way it reminds me of Maria Candida Elephant and Roses, but without the lightly fecal animalic notes, Still, in the same genre and rather musk I do not usually enjoy but it is rather subdued here and nothing like detergent .
I bought this blindly, and I do not recommend that you should do so. This isn't a crowd pleaser, nor will it have a massive following ; not because it isn't lovely, but because it is more of an acquired taste , and it lacks sparkling fruits, juicy freshness and sweet aromas.
It is a little strange, but that doesn't come as a surprise considering who the head perfumerer is.
Silage is rather low for an edp, lasting power ok .
The bottle is typical, the pink roses pretty, but this is not a rose centered perfume by any means. It is a surreal art with ghosts of roses peeking from behind an overgrown herb garden, at the end of summer , when nothing is truly green anymore .

L'Artisan Parfumeur Rose Privee is easily the prettiest bottle from this niche house. Sadly however Rose Privee didn't make the cut when the brand re-bottled and reduced the number of scents in their collection. It is quite a difficult fragrance to find since its discontinuation. I was lucky enough to find some bottles and a tester at Sydney Airport whilst waiting for my flight.

My fiance and I were testing fragrances to fill in time and his opinion on Rose Privee was quite favourable. He described it as smelling fresh like a garden and I would have to agree with him.

Rose doesn't feature all that prominently in this fragrance despite the name suggesting that it might. It's quite sweet and airy with lilac and a note of hay which reminds me a little of another L'Artisan fragrance, L'Ete en Douce. A touch of fresh basil keeps this fragrance interesting but thankfully doesn't make this fragrance smell like an Italian dish.

The best way to describe Rose Privee, it's a subdued green and sweet floral. Unlike a majority of L'Artisan fragrances, Rose Privee is one of their softer creations. The sillage sits close to the skin, however the longevity is quite impressive lasting a decent six hours.

I sniffed it once at TK maxx from an opened gift box. I really liked it and when a few days later I come back to buy it, I found the box but with a shower gel and lotion only, the bottle was gone :(
I decided that I have to have it and bought one bottle on line - another alomost blind buy, only after sniffing.
After the first spray I find it very similar to Baby Doll by YSL. Suprisingly it has quite good longevity and after many hours I can smell some masculine notes (and that's the anwer to my question "how can it be unisex?")

Definitely citrus here for me too, possibly the freshness of the hay and basil. I don't get any strong rose, light sweet florals and slight green spice and citrus.

Gorgeous tea rose scent. As previous reviewer I get the citrus coming through too. Bargain for me too from TK Maxx. I think it is a sexy little day number. It is not a loud shout out rose its is more quiet and grows on you.

I bought Rose Privée L`Artisan Parfumeur in a giftset as a blind buy in TKMaxx yesterday and I bought it knowing the the L`Artisan Parfumeur is highly thought of in the fragrance community and is a niche fragrance as opposed to a designer or celebrity scent.... I can say I have not been disappointed either with the price I paid for it nor the fragrance itself.

After 6-7hrs I can smell it on my clothing and very, very faintly on my wrists.

On opening I am dazzled by a very expensive smelling, sweet but not cloying Rose that is courted by the Lilac, Violet and Amber notes. I don't get hay or basil as yet and wonder if that's something that might show up once the weather warms up.

I would say that this is romantic, versatile, good for everyday or special occasions where there are intimate gatherings.

I don't know if I would repurchase as my favorite rose fragrances are Rock n Rock by Valentino and TF's Rose d' Arabie so this comes a very close 3rd.

I can see that I will be wearing this more in the springtime when I'm not wearing my usual floriental/oriental- white flowers mixs.

to me this scent is something rosey soapy with fresh notes but on the warmer side, young rose flowers on the sun, rather mild, skin scent like, its pleasant and very feminine, I really cant imagine how it would smell on a man but would love to find out, the opening i like more because i feel roses more, if it wasnt a bit pricey I would buy it for sure, just to have it in my collection and spray it once in a while

this reminds me of London UK so much.. the smell of may rose.. hay magnolia.. lilacs.. basil.. it reminds me of walking in the parks in spring time in lush english gardens.. it also reminds me of walking through Harrods knightsbridge perfume halls.. not the niche floors.. or the Roja dove room ..but the main downstairs huge halls ..it smells clean.. florally.. British..very British.. with hints of hay.. and the basil creeps up disturbing me even more.. and i start getting a bit lost ..in a simple floral ..its trying to be an edgy.. new age.. classic ...may rose.. with a twist... which is controversial.. and hard to grasp.. but is an ok ..beautiful composition.. that you just have to live with.. and feel confident wearing.. that people will say you smell clean.. decedent.. florally.. it doesn't have a heart but it has a sole ..
i am not a huge floral fan... but lately i have been trying so many.. trying to find one that will fit me ..i dont mind the grapefruit ..but i dont even smell it.. that much ..i rather smell a deeper herby accord.. with a bit of gassy/grassy base but i believe this gassy scent comes from many florals.. to my super sensitive nose..
its an expensive smelling rose.. if that makes any sense.. its a British royal rose.. not a very dense one ..but rather a fleeting one.. a fresh cut grass..where the sap edge pops up ..on my skin it turns to barn yard and smoke ..and a hint of citruce rose..on cloth or a handkerchief it smells heavenly.. clean.. crisp.. bright.. sophisticated ..i would like my sitting room or the entrance to my house to smell like this in spring time.. clean.. classy.. with that astringent quality.. that exudes the element of cleanliness.. and posh artificial modern day synthetics!!!... i am not sure if i can live with that though ..i already changed my mind about wanting to smell this all spring.. maybe one week in autumn !
those who love florals and those who dont love florals will find a definite twist in the simple yet intrinsic wanna be modern classic floral..can modern be classic ???..that is the question???...to be or not to be???... it is defiantly British.. reminds me of penhaligens and many of the British oriented florals with herbs..i tend to like my herbs and pepper in food ..and my roses in bouquets ..or the garden ..i am an amber y resinous balmy type of gal ..and i am trying my best to be as honest as i can ..i dont have much history with this perfume.. i am simply writing how i feel about it as i am smelling it right now with you ..to give it away or not?.. thats another question..i had it lying there for weeks.. wanting to have the courage to spray it.. and sample it.. to review it ..because i knew i bought it impuslvly and it was on a good offer from their original boutique so i couldn't resist the temptation i knew i would give it as a gift if i didn't like it ..but i kept delaying ..on my skin its very strange.. turns acidic/to nothingness really..hereby and gassy ..on the handkerchief it smells more refined.. and sophisticated ..in the air it fills the room with an opulence ..a finesse a sophistication..a clean ..modern day synthetic/natural rosy garden walk.. with fresh cut roses and green sap oozing out with hay and basil in the background..and a touch of benzine or ambery patch musky accord thats hardly there..it dries down to nothingness really just dusty old powder or nappy wipes..

i put it to the test.. i asked 4 people to smell it on my hand.. none knew any accords ..or even said rose ..some said cinnamon ..some said herbs... some said mm nothing oh what is this i dont know what this is !!..sprayed it to them in the handkerchief and they all said ahhh rose lemon ..nice !
so its really my skin chemistry.. that destroys the beauty of this humble rose..maybe i liked it because of the citrusy opening.. which i am craving lately.. and i want a rose that will suite me.. so for now i will smell it on clothes only !.. or give it away..at least i am not getting headaches from it.. which i do tend to get from some florals

even in the handkerchief it does turn from that bright lemony rosy opening in to a more herby duller florally a bit ambery dustiness with a gassy quality ..but thats just my nose !

A tart but soft rose opening; has a lipstick quality. Fruity musk. A good fragrance if you want a soft, natural smelling rose; if you want something with more interest, not so much. Sillage is decent in the beginning but it really only lasts about an hour. I will enjoy my mini but feel no need to buy a bottle. A bit bland but quite pretty nonetheless.

Sampling thanks to a generous giveaway....such a fragile little thing. I get a pink garden rose melding with lilac and violet. I really cant pick up the basil. Skin scent that didnt last more than the hour

Stéphanie Bakouche’s sensational Invasion Barbare for Parfums MDCI is a hard act to follow, and it’s worth considering that early-career success is not without its downside. The expectation following a Luca Turin 5-star rating of a first perfume is stratospheric. Rose Privée is Backouche’s second perfume, released a full ten years after Invasion Barbare and co-authored by Bertrand Duchaufour, cited by l’Artisan as Bakouche’s mentor. In the intervening years she’s been at the heart of the l’Artisan Parfumeur line, first as a Trainer and then as a Fragrance Development Manager and Perfumer.

The opening of Rose Privée is pure color. Pink rose, silver-green violet, white and pink grapefruit, green basil. But mostly pink, as in pretty. Not as unabashedly pretty as Drole de Rose or as self-possessed as Safran Troublant, Olivia Giacobetti’s two roses for l’Artisan, but Rose Privée is charming and fits the l’Artisan aesthetic. Rose and violet, a classic ‘makeup’ pairing, hint at lipstick but Rose Privée is far from the plumped and ready-for-battle lips of Incarnata‘s cold violet.

The rose of the topnotes is brief but bright, creating an olfactory effect similar to a cinematic lens flare followed by a hazed washout. The eau de parfum fades to violet via lilac, all the while suggesting a range of watercolor pinks and purples. The topnotes are gentle but as they meld into a sweeter, sharper lilac-magnolia accord, the rose seems more fragile than soft. The directness of the synthetic tone easily outpaces any attempt at a full-fleshed natural appearance, which is not necessarily a failure in a perfume. But for one that puts “Rose” in klieg lights and sells itself as a rose de mai, the transition from the topnotes to the musky-berry heartnotes has the feeling of deflation. Streamlined, abstract tones take precedence over verisimilitude to rose and the topnotes blow away in the breeze. Post-rose, the perfume is linear.

The ‘basenotes’ are a better indicator of the perfume’s intention. A calibrated woody-musky shape forms the skeleton of the fragrance. It recalls a softer version of the the finish Duchaufour has applied to many of his woody-florals like Dzongkha or Sienne d’Hiver, but without his signature incense. The odd thing, though, is that unlike the radiance and durability that the Duchaufour treatment usually gives a perfume, evanescence is Rose Privée’s chief trait. The whole experience of the eau de parfum lasts about 2 hours, after which it’s gone without a trace.

If you’re looking for a long-lasting or thorny rose, Rose Privée won’t suit you. But worn as a buoyant, floral version of an eau de cologne, it fits the bill. The rose de mai burns off like the citrus of an eau de cologne and the musky sweetness floats until it fades.

At first it has an intriguing grapefruit-y herbal rose thing going on, but on me the patchouli takes over, and well now I am mainly just getting patchouli.

I almost always love rose frags but this on me is more hay carnation and basil. On my skin the rose just disappears. Now I know when someone says it disappeared I get it. If the rose stuck around I would like it but not for me

Kept seeing this in tkmaxx,was lucky enough to find a tester in York and thank god I did as this just didn't work for me! It smelled like gas! If I sprayed it near the cooker I'm sure I'd start getting worried as it smells like I've got a leak!

I finally took a proper sniff after having a desperate moment and buying this because I love L'artisan. And I hold my hands up, I was wrong about it! A jammy, fresh rose and basil scent that is lovely in the mornings, no gas leak, just a strong pretty vibe with a herbal twist!

Can't find any L'atisan counter in M'sia, So I asked my friend to bring it back from France. Just got mine and cant wait to try it out.

The first note was really strong citrus. I can't smell any rose in it. But to me it is very similar to Jo Malone Silk Blossom after a while.. does anyone feel the same here?

Once I got over the opening note of sharp citrus (must be grapefruit, since it generally doesn't play well on my skin, although the notes list "green mandarine") and hay, it morphed into a lovely subtle fresh rose that stays close to the skin and lasts for 5 hours. So I dunno...is a full bottle worth that 5 minute opening of cat pee?

I think I'm just crazy for rose fragrances, because Rose Privee smells like home to me. There's something citrusy about the opening, and then it's just lush, wet rose for the next twelve hours. I'm in love.

Spritzed some on this afternoon while shopping, and it turned on me immediately. Bank of England, indeed.
Honestly, it's probably my chemistry, and now that i look at the notes i see the area bunch I typically dislike. Herbal florals are not my thing.

I have a lot of respect for this house, given it still is Bertrand Duchaufour's playground and creative haven, but whoever decided to go for such ghastly packaging (I am talking about the box not the bottle) should be sacked. The box is neither brown, nor pink (looks like vomit) and it has the pink rose imagery running across.
The sticker on the bottle is also a departure as it goes all over several corners that I actually find quite original (however some bottles are not stickered neatly, so you may find some people regard it as "tacky").
I do hope this house will not change the bottle style or shape as it is rather iconic in my book. However, even the most iconic packages (Coke bottle) have undergone amendments over time. I love the heavy bottle top cap and the engraved brand name on the glass: pure class!

Now the juice: Very pleasant, green and fresh English rose, the type of full bodied, multi-petaled one, that keeps going and going. The magnolia gives it a slightly exotic kick and the basil/ violet leaf accord the spicy, deep aromatic punch.

A lovely abundant bouquet but nothing we have not smelled before in a different version or take. Go through Hyde Park in early summer and smell the lilacy, purple pink English roses and THIS is what you get.

10/10 for a Reference Summer Rose for Scent and bottle design. -1/10 for box/ packaging!!

This review is from a sample, so dabbed on rather than sprayed. It opened with a grapefruit-citrus note, which dissipated fairly quickly into a lovely rose. Carnation and white flowers (the information says magnolia and lilac) mix with the rose. Finally, I got a herbal, musky scent- smells great! It reminded me of roses growing near a kitchen garden.

All I smell is musk. None of the other notes, and certainly not rose. I detest musk. I couldn't get this off fast enough. What a disappointment. Glad I sampled.

i agree with froukebo that the opening definitely smells like grapefruit, specifically the rind. in my experience that bitterness dissipates quickly, leaving a fresh herbal floral.

I received a sample and the first thing I did was smell the little bottle. I was so excited! It smelled wonderful to me, fresh, clean, springy and rosy. I sprayed some in the air and wow, I loved it! Then I sprayed it on myself and gone was the fresh clean springy rosy scent. All I could smell was a citrus, almost like grapefruit. How is this possible??? I am so so very disappointed because I really adore the smell in the bottle. I even tried spraying it just on the 'cooler' parts of my body (tops of my hands) but I still get grapefruit. I wish I understood what is going on here, so frustrated!!! But I've put it away and will try again next week, because I really, really, really want to be able to wear this beautiful scent!
Update: I went ahead and bought a bottle because I love this smell. I spray it on clothing and handkerchiefs and my pillow. As long as it doesn't toch my skin, it's perfect, a perfect spring smell!
