This fragrance transports you to a different era. It doesn't smell modern and you need to be OK with that.

It opens with a spicy citrus smell and then dries to what I would best describe as a clean, slightly sweet musk. It smells like something that a parent who cared about their personal hygiene but didn't want to attract too much attention would wear. It's a very simple fragrance.

The performance - longevity, sillage and projection are all average but if you want something reliable for your office rotation then this will do the job.

Despite the dated nature of the scent and some of the listed notes, it's not cloying and so is OK for warmer weather. Lasts longer in cooler weather though so it's up to you how you use it.

The Scent

I was gifted with a sample from Musc.

It was beautiful in every way.

So i ordered a full bottle...

And yes! Off course i received a bottle with sour uninspiring reformulated junk.

Thumbs up for what it once was.

Thumbs down for L.T Piver for destroying a gem of a fragrance.

This is a very clean, classy musk. I have 3 from this house now and recognised the musk base immediately from the other ones I own (Cedre and Vetiver). The other two are more interesting, with the addition of the woods, as this is a fairly simplistic fragrance, as there is not much depth here. However, it's well done, quite understated, a little old school and I do really like jt.

This isn't a 'statement' fragrance - it's a simple musk and amber fragrance which isn't overpowering, and is likely intended to provide a gentle, pleasant, soapy musk aura.

It smells quite different on skin vs on clothing. Animalic but in a clean manner.

This may suit layering - as a base layer fragrance to provide a pleasant warmth it would do quite well.

A masculine barber shop smelling musk scent. Not keen on this one at all. Reminds me of a similar family to Alyssa Ashley musk but this is way better.

Seemed to have low projection and totally forgettable.

I am not used to wearing Musc, or at least, Musc-forward perfumes, and so was a bit nervous of spraying too hard on my first application. However, a big squirt to each arm, and one to the chest, and I was committed.

I kept myself to myself for the first hour - convinced I was projecting all over, and when I did have to cross other humans' paths, I was quick and skirted. But apparently I need not have worried: I got a lot more from it than those around, who struggled to pick it up (until I offered an arm).

The scent is light and easy to bear - sweet even, but warm and enveloping too. One compliment at about the 3 hour mark.

I felt the perfume's presence for several hours after application, and now after 7 hours +, I can easily find the scent on my arm and get plenty from it.

Musc is very nice. Very ambery, woody and a light feathery musk, with a touch of sweet/sour citrus and a light herby patchouli, with some lovely other ingredients to make it very interesting, like oakmoss, and pink pepper, which gives it a gentle, slightly rose-ish aroma. Very soft and easy to wear. It lasts about 8 hours before receding to a soft skin scent, which is gentle and soothing. I like it a lot.

I didn't feel it on my skin already after an hour. That disappoints me a lot, because from the first sniff fragrance seemed quite interesting. Notes are promising, though. But what i got at those first minutes I could still smell it was all sour musk. Interesting, but not spectacular. Definitely unisex.

L.T. Piver MUSC is my first experience with this house, and I'm happy to say that it's a good one. With a name like "musc", I would be unlikely to buy this fragrance blind, as I am very picky about musk and very much dislike sweaty musk compositions. However, I received a generous sample of this cologne with a recent online order and so decided to give it a try.

Not at all skanky, and not really all that musky, MUSC is more of a light amber-musk blend to my nose. All of the other components are subtly applied to create a very pleasant olfactory experience. Not too spicy, and entirely unisex, MUSC would be a great warm weather choice. The musk does become more pronounced as the cologne dries down, but never does it become overwhelming, and it is brushed with a light layer of amber, making this a good summertime choice for amber lovers.
