Amethyst by Lalique is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Amethyst was launched in 2007. The nose behind this fragrance is Nathalie Lorson. Top notes are Black Currant, Blackberry, Blueberry, mulberry and Big Strawberry; middle notes are Pepper, Peony, Rose and Ylang-Ylang; base notes are Musk, Woody Notes and Bourbon Vanilla.

This perfume was presented in 2007. It was created by Nathalie Lorson of Firmenich, who enriched the top notes with nutmeg, blackberry and currant.

The heart beats with the accords of intoxicating rose spiced with pepper, peony, lily and sweet, floral ylang-ylang. The base is powdery and soft with Bourbon vanilla and sensual musk.

The designer of the bottle is Lalique, of course, and it was inspired by Ralf Lalique’s object for bathroom, Epines ("Thorns") designed in 1920. The bottle for the perfume extract carries crystal blackberries on the top and is clothed in seductive purple. It is available as 50 and 100 ml edp and 50 ml perfume extract.

I got this as a Parfums de Marly Meliora substitute and indeed its a good, very inexpensive, designer fragrance option for this. Meliora is spritzier and has a honeydew melon quality whereas Amethyst is flatter and less layered. It has fresh, tart berry, mainly blackberry with currant leaf, with enough sweetness at the base to keep it from becoming sharp. Everyman’s version of Meliora - very wearable, pleasant if not hugely complex, juicy spring and summer fragrance. I pad £28 for 100 ml which is great value. When the weather turns warmer, this one is super easy to reach for day-to-day fresh, happy berry fragrance.

I was looking for a unique black currant fragrance. From suggestions here, I blind bought it @ a great price. I'm so impressed with its uniqueness & so excited that i love it so much. First spray sniff is delicious black currant fruit that quickly pours into a bc liqueur w some patchouli. Then it melds into the feeling of a drizzly grey day in the forest. The leaves & twigs of the black currant bush are dripping w rain & it stays there until it gradually fades into a slightly powdery floral with the black currant remaining the star throughout. Unfortunately I do not get any black pepper but I do get hints of incense in the dry down. I'm so happy! Usually the "black currant" is thrown into perfume notes w other fruits & all you get is a "mixed berry"-type scent. Not this one! This is a very close to accurate, black currant fruit, all the way through. Gorgeous.

I bought my wife this perfume 5 months ago. Today she used them for the first time and all we smell is soap. No fruit, no blackberry. Just pure soap. It was not a good blind buy.

LostLenore

Am i the only one who thinks this perfume is reminiscent of Burberry touch? They have the same vibe and they share some of the same notes. They're both powdery and fruity but amethyst is more sweet and more berry prominent.
Very unique and classy perfumes

This is the oldest fragrance I currently own. I bought a 100 mL bottle when I was around 17 years old, more than 10 years have passed and many things have changed, including my preferences in fragrances. I was very much into berries at the time and I felt like I had bought something rare and precious, so I sprayed parsimoniously and I still have some juice left! I still enjoy this frangrance and find it unique.
In the opening the blackberry and blueberry are esily discernable to my nose and smell pretty natural. After a few minutes the rose and peony make their appereance and together with the berries and the musk they give off a clean/shampoo vibe. However this "shampoo" smell is not squeaky clean, cheap or off-putting to me. The image I picture in my head with Amethyst is this: a young, dark haired woman, who lives in a nice wooden house in the middle of the forest went to pick up berries. She goes back home, puts down her basket full of dak berries and proceeds to take a bubble bath. I say it is unique because the only fragrance I have tested that slightly remembered me of Lalique Amethyst is Gucci Guily Absolute (at least in the opening), but it is definitely more unisex , less soapy and heavier on pepper.

fishesnfragrance

I just love this fragrance! It's so fruity and yummy, both clean and sweet, with a shampoo vibe. I got this as a dupe for PDM Meliora, and I honestly prefer this one. The fruits are ever-present with a hint of green notes. I don't get much vanilla from this, but I prefer that because I'd rather the fruits be the star and to maintain a bit of soapiness. I would compare it to the world's most luxurious fruity hand soap. Definitely, if VS perfumes became more grown up. I love it!

Jacklyn's Perfumery

Ever since I tried Enchanted Forrest I became smitten with juicy blackcurrant notes. I don't think I ever smelled anything like that before that I adored besides the Espirit de Parfum Dior Poison with its delicious plum accord. This lovely creation of Amethyst reminds me of that fragrance and Blackbird. Now Enchanted Forrest is very strong on the blackcurrant, almost like a blackcurrant juicy wine balanced with green leaves mixed with fir. So it's layered perfectly and you can imagine the forrest completely. It really embodies what the name describes. I have always loved that fragrance and I wanted to find a lovely alternative.

Amethyst is the same concept but not as intense as Enchanted Forrest can be. It's a bit muskier, but as it dries down it becomes strangely similar. A beautiful creation by Lorson. I was thrilled.

I don't know if it's true but I have heard that the Amethyst line has been discontinued. Such a shame as fragrances like this are so beautiful and unique and are getting harder to find. Well worth the price and deeply missed when they are gone.

When I first sprayed my sample this summer, I didn't smell any blackberry. Honestly, it was just alcohol, faint soap, and musk, with a tiny bit of that generic blackcurrant you get in a lot of perfumes, which confused me so much because based on the reviews this is supposed to be tart and juicy, with photorealistic berries.

I didn't know what to make of it, so I put it away for a few months and just pulled it out again recently. Although the opening is still soapy alcohol, as soon as it dries the difference is night and day, and I now get that beautiful dark forest berry everyone is talking about. Layered with a vanilla oil and/or something woody, it's glorious- an earthy, sophisticated, still a little soapy tart purple berry scent. I'm not sure if the difference is the change in season or the juice just needed to age a bit, but I like it a lot now.

mea194

I was expecting a berry scent with this and boy I got it. At first smell a mix of berries hit you but they are surprisingly not sweet. In fact I personally felt there was a strong familiar soap smell in this scent as well. This fragrance was a lot more mature than I thought it would be and has some sophistication that could be rocked in any setting. But I cannot separate the soapy smell from the rest of the notes in this scent. It made me feel a bit sick with the soapy smell. So it will not be for me!

TW12345

Was a blind buy due to PDM dupe…(it’s a darker berry/ green)…Let sit for a ~month. Ended up buying PDM Meliora for day time/ brighter scent….BUT I layer with musk fragrances and found its beautiful/ sexy combined with NR Her Musc Noir Rose…Combo SCENT-VIBES= Edgy night out in the city with black leather jacket! Love it! Try it!

TNBrianna13

I am not understanding why people think this smells like Parfums de Marly Meliora. Possibly if it was tossed in a bag of grass, twigs and dirt. Meliora is my girl and I don’t see the comparison.

TreenOfLane

Surprise Christmas gift 2023. The notes are accurate, I smell blackberry on the top, then the lovely rose in the middle. However, before we even get to the base, I can't smell it any more. It's so weak. I'm disappointed. I'm going to put this up for a while and re-visit in a month or so to see if the longevity improves. The smell itself is pretty, lady-like and despite the rose I wouldn't describe this as floral.

Zombie Apocalypse

To be honest I am not sure what to think about this fragrance. Does it smell bad.... No. But not sure it's for me. It reminds me a lot of grape cordial or grape soda. It's a sour grape smell like the grape Hubba Bubba bubblegum. Though it's not unpleasant, not sue I want like sour grapes.

Clear Skies

Smells green to me. Like leaves of berries. It is not unpleasant. I like it. Especially for the price I was pleasantly surprised.

I haven't worn this in awhile. I usually apply moderately, but tonight I tried overspraying. It reads different. It is a watery (not juicy) black currant, some dark berry. Strong pepper, even at the top in the first few minutes. My cat, who typically either loves fragrances or feels neutrally about them, told me he did not like this one. I think its the pepper. He wrinkled his nose and ran to another room lol. The florals are very transparent. I can smell the woody note on my skin. The musk isn't animalic to me, like the kind that smells like animal balls. it's the skin scent kind. I get no vanilla. maybe ylang ylang, but it would be the very green one, not the waxy one.

kukuiuo

basil and champagne next to a blackberry bush but imagine you're running by it really fast and it becomes a memory cause thats how long it lasts

XOXO_marcel

SUPER sour, like a real berry with no added sugar. It verges on body odor, but doesn't actually cross that line. A berry/grape scent, pungent and dark, not conventionally "pleasant" but it's really beautiful all the same.

I would not wear this, but I love it.

markodina

I wish I could smell what other reviewers smell. I only smell soap. I love berries and fruits, and I don't smell them. It smells slighthly green and very soapy.

jabuszko02

my mom used to love this and wear it when i was a child and i cannot put into words how it smells to me because of this, but it makes me feel so warm inside thinking about how this perfume is probably the root of my lifelong love for purple fragrances. Definetely it has something peculiar about it, i think its really worth of testing

Ninubs

WOW! This smells exactly like black currant. Such a nostalgic summer scent for me. This is my first tart perfume and I will make it work :) I already wanted to make this work due to the name and bottle, very me

rene.saller

On a whim, I put this on before bed last night, and I could still smell some lingering blackberry traces when I got up, several hours later. (I reapplied it, though, because why not?) I wasn't nuts about the opening--it came on strong, like juicy mulberries and all manner of other dark berries crushed underfoot... in a black pepper factory--but it settled down within a few minutes and just smelled like dark berries and leaves. I'm sure this is a popular summer fragrance because people tend to like seasonal perfumes, just like seasonal fruits, but I like wearing this in fall and expect that I will also like it in the winter. Even though this is obviously a fruity scent, it isn't especially sweet--the berries seem tart and unsugared, like berries you would pick off the bush in the woods and eat ravenously, no standing on ceremony here. I don't know how Amethyst will behave on my skin in the summertime--it might smell too unbearably winey or something--but it smells perfect for this sunny and strange mid-November, while the roses are blooming in my neighbor's backyard like it's not the middle of November in the middle of the United States.

Update: My husband came home from work to eat lunch and said he could smell it all over the house, so I adjusted the sillage score accordingly! I think I get noseblind to it rather quickly, which is a scary thought!

Saboba

My husband got me this recently, he found it by himself and checked Fragrantica and purchased after the good reviews. I was so surprised, not only by this ontake and his good taste, but by the scent. This is sooo delicious, sexy and addicting. Absolutely mind-blowing for me as I have never smelled something similar. To me the Cassis note is the strongest, followed by blackberry and other berry notes. The musk in it makes it sultry and the Cassis gives it some cold freshness. Its perfect. So well balanced, so unique, I am obsessed!

heresomeflowers

This is such an amazing tarty spin on the floral fruity DNA. Amethyst is what I’d want to smell around me and ON me the moment I wake up on a warm, sunny morning after a night’s heavy rain. There’s dew on the trees and bushes and grass as well as the near-ripening berries nearby, unripe, sour, but already edible. You walk around your garden still glistening from the rain, and everything’s sparkly and dewy and invigorating. Amethyst puts me in such a good mood and makes me smile. Deserves at least a 4.00. Such a lovely fragrance.

Deliza1997

Such a pretty sweet but gothic perfume.
Worth every penny.

astillwind

Oh my goodness this is beautiful! Initially I was attracted to it for the bottle. The bottle is just lovely, and the sprayer sprays a fine, wide mist. The bottle is probably worth the price I paid for it. The perfume itself is the clean of being in a moist, green forest. I do get the berries, but not a typical berry fragrance at all. I keep coming back to trees, leaves, moist, air--absolutely beautiful and different that any perfume I've had before.

piahellgren

Gorgeous and serious woody, fruity freshie. Different and exciting fragrance with lots of juice, wood and musk. It's very tangy, very long lasting, yet moderate silage. There is a rose fragrance by Annick Goutal called Rose Pompon that is very similar, but smoother. Both are lovely. And for the TikTok generation: This is NOT a dupe of Meliora. If anything the other way around. Similarity is one thing, but Amethyst came first.

13Sweetness

This fragrance to me is very unpredictable, so complex. I sprayed it on my wrist for a test after they had delivered it to me (I blind bought it together with Perles De Lalique) and walked around my garden. I felt the scent of mixed berries, sweet, a bit bitter lingered on every of my step. Every minute I checked my wrist I realized the scent changed a little, and a little and a little bit, very difficult to catch what is that, what is that scent actually but it’s so nice, fresh and very elegant. To me this perfume is like a women that has gone through so many things in her life. There is joyful, sadness, delighted, devoted, happiness but also a deep note in her heart that we need to find the key.
There are many perfumes that we love at the first moment but after a while we feel it’s so boring, in some cases I even found they’re empty although I like them at first. With this one it keeps me thinking, try to decode to find out key of the scent and of course it’s one of the perfume that I’ve known from now on and will never forget

I agree that this perfume may not be preferred by everyone, it’s so complex but to me it’s perfect. Thank you Nathalie Lorson! That’s an artist’s masterpiece.

Arber Cami

From a male point of view : This has one of the juiciest opening I have ever smelled in a fragrance. Opens up very fruity, juicy from all the berries, dries down to a fruity, floral scent with some musk in the back to well balance everything. I would say Amethyst is a little similar to "Meliora from Parfums De Marly" but Amethyst is much fruitier and has better overal longevity.

tokyodriftcam

this was made for me. i have troubles with longevity and performance on most perfumes, but not with amethyst. and even though i go anosmic after fifteen minutes, everyone else seems to smell me. i smell good!

ayamail26

This is a nice perfume, I expected something more fruity and juicy, it’s not bad it’s just more fresh and clean leaning. Its beautiful how you can smell the green part of the fruits, very natural aspect of this perfume

kelroseplace

I just love this. It's jammy, woody, not too strong but still lasts a decent amount on my clothes. An easy reach for me, but I love berry scents. Is it groundbreaking? No. But it smells really nice and is suitable for a lot of occasions. Oh and it was like $30 for 3.4 oz.

M4rkéta

Boozy dark berries. More fresh than Amethyst Eclat. A bit challenging for me since there's nothing more to it. I like it when I'm in the mood for it.

SnowIce

Lalique Amethyst is a stunningly unique fragrance. It is a masterpiece with great charm. At first it seemed light and volatile. But as I got to know it, I discovered that it lasts well (several hours) and hangs like a veil around me. Amethyst creates a soft, deep and mysterious dark feeling. It is delicious and mellow. This has definitely become one of my favourite scents. I wonder how it can be so affordable.

terigurl

I misunderstood this perfume for years. I purchased it, didn't like it because it was just very citrusy to my nose and very perfumy, so I decluttered it. I felt that maybe I didn't give it a fair chance after watching some YouTube reviews on it, so I repurchased and still wasn't impressed. I was about to declutter again and gave it one last wear with 2 sprays on my arm and went about my day. I kept getting whiffs of something so clean and fresh and addicting. It was me!!! This seems to last forever on me, so it works better if I don't overspray. The black currant is very prominent as well as the berries and musk. It smells like berry juice on a hot summer day. I would like to see how this does in the winter. This is a great non-offensive work scent. I'm glad I decided to give her another shot.

The13thHour

Amethyst is fruity, sweet and feminine with a dark edge. I love to wear this during fall and winter.

LonelyGirl

Very sweet and girly. Intimate and does not last for long. I wore this for a whole year every day and not a single compliment. Probably because no one but me smelled it. I like it because it reminds me of an old perfume I used to use in middle school. However, I actually ended up using it because it was gifted to me. I probably wouldn't have nought it in the shops, cause it is underwhelming for the price.

Ktpop19!

Amethyst is a masterpiece. Initially, I was drawn to the fragrance because I love Lalique glass and the color purple. The bottle is beautiful, but the intriguing fragrance profile grabbed my attention. It's magical and transports me to an enchanted day of foraging for berries. I found myself in a fruity floral paradise.

So far, I've worn this is in the spring and summer. Can't wait to wear this gem in the fall and winter. Amethyst will shine in the cooler seasons. This is a modern fragrance rooted in nature and blended with sophistication. There is a symphonic progression in the fragrance notes. Truly a masterpiece.

Susi.312

I was waiting to get this for over a year, just believing that I would love it. I am so sad that this is not working for me. The opening is amazing…dark juicy berries and their stems and leaves, but then something goes drastically wrong…It's the black pepper. That note always goes bad on me. I didn't even realize it was in here until it rears its ugly head. Then the black spicy rose joins in. I'm so bummed!

swedishmilk15

I'm shocked that vetiver is not listed as a note, here. I can smell it! This reminds me of Ence Noir somehow, and I think that's the reason why. I like it, but it isn't what I expected. Amethyst isn't fruity and sweet--it's a very herbaceous take on berries. For these reasons, I find it unique and loveable. I have no regrets, especially after my horrendous experience with Ferragamo's Signora Misteriosa, which was sickeningly sweet and overwhelming (it was lacking some fresh top notes to keep it lifted, ugh!) I think this Lalique scent will be nice to test once fall comes, as well.

svetik26

Bought it yesterday, returned it to the shop today.
Couldn't stand it to sweet syrup, steeky.
Very long lasting tried to skrab it from my hand with a shower gel and it still stayed there .

MollyB235

I really disliked this fragrance- but in fairness to it, I compared it to Comptoir Sud Pacifique (spelling?)’s Blackerry Vanilla, and Bath n body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla. I’ve been trying to hunt down a longer lasting successor to my trilogy of blackberry Vanilla scents and was advised that this would be an awesome scent to try as I was looking for an EDP. I have no idea what thsi was supposed to smell like- but I didn’t get berries or vanilla. I got a weird tart fruit scent that soured and turned- like hugging your aunt. It could totally be my body chemistry- this fragrance on me smelled like hugging an older relative with bad hygiene who tried to cover it with a cheap body mist.

A super harsh review since so many people have loved and written rave reviews. I am so sad this didn’t work for me- but I hurriedly returned it after trying to air it out for a half hour to see if the scent improved and it just stayed sour on me. Super bummed but an absolute no for me.

Ash212

Really clean. Not what I was expecting. The 'its sweet' comments and purple bottle reminded me of alien which is quite thick & sweet. This is a very light tart/sour scent. It's slightly sweet but more so clean. With two sprays I don't feel overwhelmed. Great everyday scent .... but not spectacular

katarinacza

Violets and berries all over. Had 100ml bottle and it lasted ages. Sweet but not too strong. A bit girly in my opinion. Moderate silage and staying power. Great for winter but can do in summer. Most of people will like it and find it inoffensive. Ok both for office and date after. If you are into fruity-berry - it's worth a sniff. Syrupy a bit, but not heavy. Given how much it costs - srsly would recommend it. tiny gem like most of Lalique perfumes.
As for the bottle - not my favorite design, but this is very personal thing. Smell is more than pleasant and it's a great deal. For all ages, my mom liked it as much as I did.

Sherlock Ness Monster

A tangled thicket of dark, thorny blackberry bushes in the forest after a thunderstorm. The deep green leaves are damp and cold. The sky is gray. The berries are tart and fresh. I love this one when I am in the mood for a berry scent that is dark, green, and not too sweet. I can see how it might be polarizing for some, but I love it and can't stop sniffing my arm when I am wearing it.

venusingemini

A really good dupe for Meliora. If you can get past the blast of alcohol in the beginning, you’ll find a really lovely scent for a great price. Both amethyst and meliora have a sweet, fruity opening that reminds me so much of a guava fruit, although guava is not listed in either fragrance. Amethyst dries down to something a little earthy, and sharp but it doesn’t lose that watery, dewy forest touch. Meliora stays on the sweeter side and lacks the earthy, green qualities that amethyst has. I actually may prefer amethyst just for that reason as it really evokes the feeling of being in a damp forest, picking berries. Whoever said it smells like a forest fairy was spot on. That being said, Meliora has the signature parfums de marly dna that is smooth, blended to perfection, and long lasting. No alcohol in the opening of meliora either. If you’re looking for that type of perfect quality, Meliora would be worth the investment. However, Amethyst does not smell cheap at all and would be a great option for someone on a budget or maybe someone looking for something with a hint more edge, or mystique to it.

apfelix13

This fragrance is amazing! I can’t believe I paid less than 30 bucks on it. It’s smells expensive and sophisticated. The berries are so delicious. When I first sprayed it it was like a flashback to my childhood. I grew up in Brazil and we had a mulberry tree at home. This is the smell that I get the most: sweet and juicy mulberries.

Upward_Falling

Like a lot of people, I discovered this little gem through YouTube fragrance reviewers I have come to trust. Purple is my favorite color, so the bottle alone was calling me. I wasn't super impressed smelling it off the cap or on paper. The magic happens ON SKIN.

This perfume makes me feel like a little garden fairy, pond skipping among wet foliage and delicious ripe berries on a misty, overcast day close to dusk. It's green, wet and sweet. On me it sits somewhere between close to the skin and a modest projection - depends on if you are outdoors (where I think this fragrance REALLY shines) with a little breeze. She will hang on to clothing for days!

I can see this not being everyone's cup of tea, and I myself am picky - but this is a scent I actually crave wearing, especially in spring. Dewy mornings, overcast days, the in-between weather forecast... days made for Amethyst. Do be careful not to overspray. It's super sweet which can make you feel a bit sickly if over applied.

A very successful blind buy for me and one that always makes me smile when I think of it.

correspondencepersonal

I'm trying this perfume again, after taking a break for the past 6-7 months.
This is definitely fresh - and "purple" - a berry-like essence which includes the green of the vine - ivy... smell.

This is a high soprano note, which will either appeal to you - or not.
Take at least 2 hours to make a decision with this.
The first 30 minutes of this are extremely bright and fruity - almost like L'Imperatrice 3.

The longer you wear this, the better it gets.
I will smell wafts of this after the first 5 hours -
This is extremely good with my chemistry.

The personality of this is like a "shy girl" -- this is a little more introverted than I typically wear, but I have received so many compliments on this - that I am rethinking it.
It could definitely be a "signature" perfume - on the right person.

Chemistry wise - you will definitely have to sample this one before buying it.
I don't feel that this is a great blind buy - because your chemistry will definitely gel with this - or not.

I will reach for this on days where I want a lighter expression of perfume -
Going to the gym - running errands - a walk with the dog - morning coffee.
This is definitely one to try, I have a feeling that you will know within the first
2-4 hours - if this is "Your Thing". This will blend with your chemistry - or you may feel that it is slightly OFF. It has a youthful vibe to it, in fact - this formula can almost border the smell of teenage body odor at times where it smells like a Junior High locker room after cheerleader practice. This perfume is unique and unlike any other perfumes that I have. I don't think many people will choose this as a "signature"... but this is definitely worth trying.

----------

If you like this general perfume vibe - a light, fresh, clean, slightly watery, soapy perfume...
Try Cherie by Kate Spade. Cherie has slightly more of an aldehyde aroma to it where it lifts off the skin and forms a light veil around the body as if you had just stepped out of the shower and you could smell a nice floral soapiness, rather than a perfume smell. Kate Spade Cherie smells like the essence of the perfumed Youth Dew blue azure colored soap by Estee Lauder which my mother adored. Cherie is like the dry down of Youth Dew by Estee Lauder after the heavy start dissipates into the dry down. Cherie has a more floral essence while Amethyst is definitely more of an edgy tart essence with more of a fruity grape smell, but if you are drawn to Amethyst, more than likely you will also appreciate Cherie. They are in a similar family of fragrances both with a slight watery quality to them. Both are high pitched soprano perfume essences and both are fresh and sweet. Both are lovely with the right chemistry but may not appeal to everyone unless this is a good blend with your chemistry.

If you like these type of perfumes, I would also try the Perry Ellis 360 degree perfume sprays collection. These are all in the soprano notes, floral, slightly soapy or shampoo-like perfumes that have notes that are upbeat, fresh, youthful, fun. The purple bottle in the Perry Ellis 360 degree line is less tart, green, and edgy than the Lalique Amethyst -- it has more of a classic well rounded grape essence which is more of a perfume that would appeal to the masses. It is light, fresh, clean ---- smells more like a junior high floral grape leaning shampoo smell. If you like Amethyst, I think you will definitely like the purple Perry Ellis 360 degree perfume too. They are in a similar family of perfumes, but smell different enough where it would be a slight change to wear both for different reasons/functions.

Barbarossa

First time wearing it and already got compliments! First impression is great. I have tried it in store multiple times before buying, at first it was okayish but after some time I started craving this scent. Nice berry scent, great for a lot of occasions!

To me, this is the entire berry bush. It has the dark berry, the prickly stem, and the fuzzy green leaves. It is fruity but not in the regular juicy/jammy way. It has an unexpected greenness in the background.
Perfect for a crisp autumn morning.

ClassicallyVintage

Oh my goodness, this perfume is a beast of a fragrance, in the best possible way!!! I sprayed this at noontime and it’s well past midnight where I live and this perfume is still going strong! This is my first time trying a Lalique perfume and I am thoroughly impressed. It was also a blind buy, which I never recommend, but just had a good feeling and I’m so happy I did.

I received the perfume today, spritzed 3 sprays and went on with my day. While visiting my parents my dad inquired about that nice “soap smell” and my mom said I smelled like a “nice powdery fruit”. Later in the day I was invited to go on a boat ride and I figured the salt air would diminish the smell of my perfume. An hour later and back on land, I could still smell it on me and not as a skin scent, but still as potent as if I just sprayed it! Later in the evening, my mom made the comment that even after a boat ride, she could still smell my perfume on me.
Now, hours later, as I’m getting ready for bed, I’m still getting wafts of delicious blackberries, ylang, and musky woods. Honestly, I’m blown away the by the quality and tenacity of this perfume and to top it off it smells incredible.

I will say the first 30 minutes there is something synthetically plastic smelling, but once it settles and warms on your skin, that smell fades and once it does it’s magic. Like your in a forest on a cool summer’s day surrounded by lush blackberry and blueberry bushes and the coolness of the air makes the smell more ethereal. I’m still in shock at how impressed I am. I will definitely check out more Lalique perfumes in the future.

mrgnliana

At first spray I was hooked instantly. I literally had a flashback to picking berries off the bush in my backyard as a kid. First you’re hit with the dark berries and this background smell of fresh green leaves. After settling on the skin for a few minutes, the sweetness starts to come out and it transforms into a beautiful fruity floral vanilla scent. The silage is definitely close to the skin, and I stop smelling it on myself after about 5 hours but as someone who develops headaches easily I am absolutely fine with the lasting power.

Vellocet

A great dupe if you can't afford Meliora. This is the juiciest berry perfume i've ever smelled. I especially pick up the black currant and blackberries all the way from top to base. In the dry down the musky vanilla shines through. Can't detect the rose here, but it doesn't matter to me because i'm not a big fan of rose notes. Overall a very juicy and uplifting perfume, and affordable too! Wish the logevity was better though, after four hours or so it's gone.

Darling of Disquiet

Is it possible for something to be a dupe of something if it came out almost a decade prior to the item that it's being called a dupe of?
I mean wouldn't the product that was made first be the product that is being duped? Lol, it's a serious question though.

chb

I started out loving this perfume, but I think I have fallen out of love with cassis based scents. I have just decided to sell this one. It’s very similar to Meliora, so it scratched that itch.

Elenar10

A clean, crisp, juicy, fruity, berry scent. A definite compliment getter on me but sadly it's a bit too sharp for my nose. Interesting though and classy, not the generic fruity and sweet scent. 7/10.

iro222

I find this better than meliora, more refreshing. The berries are there the whole time, on my skin this lasts almost 10 hours (oversprayed). It yourhfull, fun, refreshing, lightly sweet berrish scent, i really like it. Springtime ist the best season to wear this one i think. In summer could become annoying if you overspray i guess, maybe the berries come out too bitter then.

ultrasilence

sweet black currant but not too sweet,... just ripe one :) one of my fav perfumes, I love it and always get compliments

Srebrina

Wonderfull dark berries with twigs and green notes in the background, followed by fruity peony. Late drydown becomes more woody, less sweet'There is a peppery note that gives an illusion of fresh forest air.
Compared to Meliora, Amethyst is more scratchy and sharp, as opposed to the airy and rounded Meliora, where there are almost no woody notes, but lily if the valley instead, and this turns the fragrance into a more soapy clean direction. Similar performance, had both, prefer Lalique as it is more fruity

gokcekurt

Almost identical dupe to PDM's Meliora. This is more crisp and fruity. Pricepoint is way better, I think I'll always buy this instead of Meliora. Both gorgeous, both have good performance! A solid 8.5 fragrance! So happy and pretty!

SailorRoss

Opens with dark berries and transitions fairly quickly to the middle notes of rose and peony, which I love. It's a cold scent and I can detect a little mint. The dry down is pleasant, but I was hoping for a more photorealistic fresh berry bush in the sunshine with softer green notes. The musk or woody notes sit in my throat, so I’ll have to wear this one on my lower body or when active. It can be worn by all ages and at least it’s unique and not overly sweet. Beautiful bottle too. My juice is older, the batch code has a date of 2017. I’ll update this after I have a chance to wear it in warm weather.

cookygirl

Finally, after searching for aeons, I located a tester for this scent and liked it immediately.
It's such a distinctive fragrance. It has coherence and personality and is not shy about it either.
Amethyst opens with a bang: I get mostly blackcurrent and other less distinct berries in the opening.
Later on I do smell the black pepper which gives me Miracle vibes. Even though the two scents are obviously very different. there is something about the density and 'zingy-ness' of their profiles that links them in my mind.
Drydown has something almost powdery in it in addition to the musk, which is interesting and creates a multifaceted aspect. It's rare that musk doesn't take over a fragrance on my skin and here it really doesn't which is nice. The musk remains firmly in the background.
Overall I'm impressed by this fragrance and I'm so happy that I had a chance to experience it.
Unfortunately though I will not be purchasing it: for the first time ever I had an allergic reaction to a scent. Not a major one - basically a rash where I had sprayed it on my arm, that eventually faded. However, I do not want to chance spraying this in more sensitive areas and certainly not in warmer weather either.
I am seriously bummed because this could have been a purchase, especially given the bargain price at which it is sold.

Edit - so I suppose one could say I was 'saved by the rash' cause the late drydown (and I mean LATE cause this scent lasted forever) became overly chemically to my nose and gave me a headache. Ultimately i suppose it was a good thing that I didn't purchase this fragrance although I do really envy those who can wear it problem-free..

Mona708

I really enjoyed wearing this! It’s a bit more linear than I thought it would be, but it’s still pleasingly tart. I get nothing but tart berries the whole time I wear this. It reminds me of a stronger version of both Jōvan’s Black Musk and Mix:Bar’s Blackberry Tonic. It’s also a surprisingly good near-dupe for MFK’s Acqua Celestia Cologne Forte; it’s stronger and slightly sweet.

AkaNeri

Pepper, peony, woody notes and fruits on a vanilla base. I love it! It's bright, but not too bright, it's creamy, but not too much. Nice spring and summer fragrance!
UPD: In the dry down it's musky woody slightly sweet vanilla. Nice, but not a FB.

ava96

Edit: I wore this 2 days in a row, I am in love. It's an absolutely beautiful scent!
I smell the pepper, overall it kind of smells like an entire rose bush (including the greenery), it's really pleasant. I never thought of myself as someone who likes the smell of roses, but lately I've been loving rose fragrances.

Eden97

My guess is that most of the people with negative opinions on this fragrance just tried it in warm weather. This one is very herbal and medicinal in spring/summer so the votes are surprising to me. IMO winter is when it truly shines and becomes this magical, dark yet fresh scent. Describing notes isn't really my thing but imagine a fantasy forest with a purple and dark green mist all around. That's the vibe I get

cjstewart301

I’m in love! 😍 Where has this fragrance been all my life? Dare I say… this is better than my beloved PDM Meliora? Buying a backup because this is springtime pretty girl realness!

jocing

Beautiful fragrance! love love love love it!!!!!
No strong alcohol and this gem smell gorgeous!
Like walking in forest full of dark berries and some wind blows lightly after the rain in the morning.

Is SO REAL! and the sweetness is very very mild and comfortable.
This smell like something from nature and close to realistic.

This is one of the best and my favorite now! Is a master pieces.

Very safe blind buy and easy accepted by crowd. The cost is also a great deal. Is one of the perfume I will continue purchase and replace a new bottle.

mihaela_i

Amethyst is such a beautiful fragrance very similar to Meliora, but it has its own personality. The berries are sweeter, almost jammy, and the addictive musk in Meliora is replaced in the opening phase with a subtle green accord, reminiscent of L’Ombre dans L’Eau’s dark green leaves. The only downside is that Amethyst becomes so faint after an hour or so, although in the drydown it becomes even more beautiful, when a delicate musk-like note accompanies the berries. I keep looking for it, I sometimes catch a subtle breeze of Amethyst, but it’s not enough, and after 4-5 hours this ethereal, magical scent disappears for good.

maya2000ro

The opening is a little bit "frightening", and synthetic. But after it settles down on the skin it becones a wonderful fragrance where you can sense the red fruits and....somthing else... (I can't put my finger on). It has a good silage and longevity. From my point of view, Lalique did a pretty good job with this one. 👍

natalia6032

This smells super artificial, like blackberry sweets, not like the actual fruit. There is some tartness which saves it from being sickly sweet, but it's not my thing. Longevity is good, sadly I don't like the smell.

ShelbyKB

Fresh, on the vine blackberries! Aromatic, cold, and slightly woody! Maybe even a sprig of mint! Basil? I can see that, too!

You're in a pine forest, the air is slightly cool, and you've applied the smallest spritz of bugspray to your ankles. You stumble upon a knot of blackberry bushes and they're all perfectly ripe! I can imagine a cute woodland fairy wearing this, or, someone with a solid fairy grunge / gothic style.

Overall this a unique dark berry scent, not your typical overly sweetened jammy fruity number. It's enchanting!

Unfortunately, my skin eats this. I oversprayed, 8-10 sprays total on moisturized skin and it really started to fade after the first hour. My boyfriend said he could smell me about 3-4 feet away outside. By the 4th hour, I really couldn't detect much. Even my scent bubble to start was weak - I had to put my arm up to my nose to smell it. This may be something that projects well, but I'm slightly anosmic.

Walking back into my room later in the night - I could smell it strongly! So safe to say it does leave a trail:)

Overall: 6/10 . Would be a 10/10 if it projected more on me:)

bea777

I was really underwhelmed by this scent unfortunately, nothing special or exciting. To my nose this smells soapy and the berry notes don’t really shine. Really sad that I didn’t like this as given the positive reviews I hoped to love it

Nancymae

It's funny, I have close to 150 perfumes of all prices and yet this one has gotten the most compliments.
It is a lovely berry with good lasting power. I'm just a bit over berry/fruity but I love Nathalie Lorson, she knows pretty.
This is inexpensive and I think sometimes that can influence one to think it is a lesser creation. This is just a very nice, very pretty scent and solid performer

alleycatseyes

@Mangaetteok agreed…
Everyone is entitled to like what they like regardless of affordability taste etc.. and form an opinion based on their body chemistry reaction which will be different based on medications age hormones synthetic or stage in life -
However, to attack a fragrance house and behave as if one has such a refined sense of smell when
Civet (scraping cats anal sacs) Chanel, Cartier, Lancôme. Then Castoreum (yelowish oily secretions of male beavers). Hyraceum (crystallized fecal matter of the Hyrax, tiny animal found in Africa and Middle East) are found in oh so very many of everyone’s favorite niche fragrances well it is just insanity and mixed with synthetics.
*Cat Piss*? Is not listed as an ingredient here. It was mentioned in a review.
I’m not attacking anyone, I like Chanel, I like a lot of fragrances.
But this is a masterpiece in its own right.

Chaerinia

I'm going to flow with the majority and say this was a complete dupe of Meliora to my nose. That one was nothing groundbreaking to begin with, and so I also found this scent equally boring.

Twentzel

The first impression:

Smells a bit like those Strawberry Shortcake Dolls from the '80s, the Blueberry Muffin!
What a pleasant surprise! 💜🍇💜

ryoshiho97

I honestly bought this for the blueberry and strawberry notes. Kinda disappointed it wasn’t there. If it was, it got overshadowed by blackcurrant and blackberry notes. The opening notes were heavy on dark berries. Somehow, I’m picking up iris and earthy notes on my skin. Neither notes were listed above. A hint of ylang ylang made this scent a little brighter. Performance-wise, it’s light and doesn’t project that much. It does layer great on aquatic fragrances on my skin.

The pepper note was slightly off-putting to me. Almost triggered my allergies which means I cannot overspray this.

I could neither detect rose nor musk on my skin which is a shame because I was looking forward to that, too. It was a lot lighter than expected. Those notes listed above were bogus.

The jury is still out. I’m gonna have to test this oj a blazing summer day.

kittywhiskers

think I found my new signature scent, I smell like a big sexy spicy berry and I am so here for it

>Happy Cat<

I was eying PDM Meliora for a while, and as many says this is a dupe for it, I decided to give it a go because it is very affordable. I'm glad I did! It is very similar. Most prominent note is blackcurrant with sweet and green notes to balance it. It is sparkly dark berries scent, quite literal interpretation.

The problem is that it has no staying power. Although I tested Meliora and it also does not last very long, not the usual PDM powerhouse.

ss1122

This was an immediate return as it smelled exactly like cat urine without even opening the bottle. Sprayed to be sure. Maybe a bad batch but absolutely unwearable. Not a Meloria dupe in any way.

wuddalooo

Blind bought this based on the notes and reviews …not quite what I was expecting but I do like it!

I was expecting a tart, berry perfume; and whilst the berries are certainly prominent here, on me this is definitely a musky fruity-floral. Smells more fruity from the bottle and at first spray, but the dry-down has a slightly sweet and powdery quality. I can definitely get the rose and peony.

A pleasant, clean, soapy scent that leans slightly feminine but not overly so.

Mangaetteok

Note - which of the (VERY complex mostly) 1980's scents is it - that you are reminded of here; i.e if this reads as a "boring 1980's scent..
(Hilarious!)

Mangaetteok

Anybody (any niche snob, etc) saying "Oh this is soooo synthetic, & I think I will prefer the PDM version" is frankly making themselves look extremely silly. Almost all perfumes are synthetic, even Creed use (expensive synthetics alongside organic compounds) - & anything niche under Creed price levels is mostly or all synthetic; albeit slightly more expensive synthetics than most Designer perfumes - & newsflash; PDM feminine perfumes, are literally synthetic bombs - Delina being the biggest ambroxan bomb - PDM for females is not nor has it ever been "niche" whether the male perfumes are is also debatable. Still, if you want PDM Meliora, then fgs buy this & stop typing such silliness bc there is nothing in it - except the Lalilque musk notes are far better & probably much more experimental, as anybody who knows anything about perfumes chemistry will tell you. This is a good, fresh berry perfume with a slight herbalness, espc at the beginning & a gorgeous musk base - nothing particularly complex but not too simple either - & a Nathalie Lorrson at this price is an obvious win; + the bottle is not unattractive, obviously
(P.S - forgot to say - even the rose in this, is like the beginnings of Atomic Rose.)

menmen

Beautiful if you're looking for a basic freashie with a twist. It's a just a refreshing, spicy berry blast, really can't complain especially for the price. I can't think of any other fragrance that's this unapologeticly BERRY. I do get a little bit of that basil in the opening but it goes away pretty fast. It is a little peppery but nothing major for me, I love pepper notes. It's not a deep or very sweet berry, it's very realistic in a way, it's like a barely ripe berry. I wouldn't call this mature but I feel like this would be a pretty safe gift idea for the older women in your life, like your mom or your aunts. I personally really enjoy it! Will be updating on how it performs in a few days.
EDIT:
Some thoughts after giving it a wear test. This doesn't project much. I can smell in for about 3 hours max and then it's very close to the skin. There's a sharpness to this that kind makes it smell a little cheap. I think there's a place for this in your collection if you wanna throw something on after the shower, to run to the store, to walk the dog, to go to the gym and you don't want a "basic" citrus fragrance. I do not know how this will do in hot weather, I hope it does better. I tried layring it with vanilla 28 and it kind of ate it up. I can still smell a little bit of the berries but it kind of disappears.
I will advise trying this first before buying but if you can't get your nose on it, I hope this helps. If you already have this and you're not feeling it all that much maybe try layring with something sweet.

CRiche

I bought this because of YouTube and the price. Wow I’m pleasantly surprised! I really find it very clean and slightly sexy. I definitely got the basil smell that people are describing. I’m not sure I would’ve been able to pick that up hadn’t I read about it but I do smell it. This makes me feel like I just bathed in berries and musk and I feel so fresh wearing it.

Skinscents4Fusspots

I tried this again today in cooler weather than when I bought it and with a totally different set of expectations. I knew it was not going to be jammy. Not sweet. I was expecting the transparent dark berries still on the bush surrounded by leaves and wood. Soapy, musky and herbal. I still get a rosemary vibe (which I always find to be a slightly soapy herb) but this time I also smelt basil. Like My fingers smell after chopping fresh basil! I was quite enjoying wearing it and it felt a bit like I'd washed with a herbaceous, bar soap with a hint of unsweetened berry juice. I didn't feel it was dark or sexy, just clean and musky and definitely better in Autumn / Winter. It's not strong but it's lasting power is impressive. Quite unusual in a way. Then the day got sexy! I don't know what this did to my husband but wow.... there's obviously something about the musk in this. After today I will always think of this as a sexy perfume lol!

emilia123

this is a really good berry scent- not too sweet at all. I definitely smell some aromatic notes in this despite them not being listed. It doesn’t project that well on me, which is a shame. I don’t think this is full-bottle worthy, but I would probably get a decant of this.

Cymbaline1

A little too sheer maybe slightly bittersweet for what I was looking for. It's light and effervescent I was looking for a more dark a moody jammyness.

Spencemonster

Grapes. Berry. Sweet blackberry jam. But. Very synthetic. I don’t like the dry down. There’s an almost medicinal quality. I really wanted to like it. Not sure I hate it. But. Not a love. I want to try to get a sample of Meloria to see if it’s more vibey. I love most PDM scents. I also love the classic Lalique scent. This however I’m just not a fan of. I normally love fruity scents though.

dancingdear

This is a wonderful photorealistic blackberry scent. It’s not just the blackberries it’s the full blackberry bush. Green and earthy brambles with sweet but still tart blackberries. The first time I applied it I looked down at my fingers expecting them to be stained with blackberry juice. I kid you not!
It also has a sexiness to it. I can picture a forest rendezvous with a lover.
The sillage on me isn’t very strong but I recommend layering this scent with a fruity floral to give it that earthy sensuality.
I love this scent and it is really affordable too

SemiBasicB!tch

This has been my signature for nearly 15 years. I love how fresh and juicy it is without being overwhelming. Great projection and last forever. Seriously, coworkers could tell when I entered the building just my the scent of my perfume. I've received so many compliments over the years on this one. I've tried other Lalique fragrances, including other versions of Amethyst, but this one is still my favorite. I'm trying so hard to find a new daily scent, but I keep coming back to this one. Perfection.

Olyve

I bought a small bottle thinking that if I didn’t like it then I could give it away. I won’t be doing that now. I love it. It’s a natural berry perfume, sweet but not synthetic. The musk is just the right strength to keep it fresh and the pepper is subtle but noticeable. I tried Jo Malone blackberry and bay, the initial spray is similar but amethyst dries down a lot sweeter and lasts 6 times longer.(the JM lasted 2 hours on me max).

twoski

Tart, jammy blackberry is all i get off the hop. The florals slowly trickle in and blend with the topnotes seamlessly. I get more musk in the base than wood.

This is quite a girly fragrance. If you like peony and blackberry on a bed of musk, you can't go wrong here.

SensitiveRecluse

Green, tart berries- somewhere between going berry picking, making jam, and eating gummy bears. I absolutely love how fruity and juicy this is in the opening without being sugary or too sweet. I bought this because it's so similar to Meliora from Parfums de Marly, but $300 cheaper. In the opening they are IDENTICAL. The only difference appears in the dry-down: Amethyst has a musk that projects and outlasts Meliora, Meliora being ever so slightly airier with no musk and a shorter wear time. If you like musk (think Juliette has a Gun Not a Perfume) and berries, you'll love Amethyst. If musk is a deal-breaker and you have $300 lying around, you can try Meliora. Beware though that in cold weather this will read soapy.

Sara74

My hubby has Lalique encre noir l'extreme and I do actually think that Amethyst is a carbon copy of that fragrance. All the fruits that is supposed to be in this fragrance is not there. All I can smell is pepper, some musk and a ink note, perhaps some moss as well. It's not a bad fragrance, but I was under the impression that this was All going to be about the fruit, but it's not -far away from It actually.

Roses and Thyme

This is one where I think my nose is off.

I was expecting green, maybe even basil, and I was intrigued. I got musky, musky something. In all honesty, the first time I smelled it, I thought it smelled like a haunted house after a flood. Kind of musty dampness. I don’t smell green, or fruit, or herbs.

I’m going to let my bottle sit and revisit in cooler weather. Again, I just think my nose is interpreting the notes weird and I’m the problem, not the problem.

Rosemary14

This fragrance is first and foremost GREEN. Underneath all those green leaves are some fruity berries which do come out more in the dry down and not much else. Listen to those reviews that talk about basil and leaves if you are thinking about buying this.

Anitanita.

To all my black currant lovers , this is the one.
It was a blind buy for me but when I spray it out the magic happens .This is the most realistic black currant juice with mint perfume ever. I adore perfumes and proudly collect them , amethyst is on my top shelf along with all niche perfumes I own. Sexy, juicy, yummy, intoxicating ! I remember as a child smelling black currant with leaves after rain in my grandmas garden , this perfume reminds me of that. Gorgeous and inexpensive , I will buy more bottles as a back up because I'm obsessed .
Long lasting on me and it projects .
If you like black berries/black currant perfume you Must try this one.

I bought a decant ages ago, to sample some nice berries, and despite all the hype I really didn't like it at all... I snubbed it and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. Fast forward to the massive sweaty heatwave we've been having recently when I can't seem to find anything from my collection that sits comfortably on me in the extreme heat....or so I thought. Amethyst is DREAMY in hot weather! I have used up my sample and am definitely grabbing a full bottle. Gotta appreciate these hate-to-love moments in our fragrance journey :D Fruity dark berry musk radiating off hot skin? Yes, please!

Flowers bloom here

I bought this perfume on fragrancnet.com for 20$ . I was expecting a sweet berry scent but WOW!! , the opening hit me like a pine forest, tree sap and dark berry spice! This perfume is beautiful and so unique. I have over 100 perfumes in my collection but nothing like this dark enchanting scent. I'm thrilled to have this witches brew in my collection : )

Lakreutter

To start, this scent doesn’t last more than an hour at the very maximum and you really need to overspray, including your clothes, to get it to last even that long. The silage is also very poor, this sits very close to the skin. The first note I get is pepper, however, combined with the dark berries it reads as fresh, peppery herbal basil. The combination of quite strong peony and woody notes contribute to the basil fragrance. I’m not sure what this happens, especially since there are a ton of notes, but this is basically fresh basil perfume. It’s very pretty, but if you’re expecting fruit, flowers and vanilla this is not it. The problem is the scent is so weak. I used my bottle once and put a huge dent in it because I could just not smell it on me, neither could anyone else. And after an hour it was completely gone, even when I buried my nose in my hair and clothes. So take that into consideration if you’re thinking of buying. If you can get it for around $20-25 it’s worth it. More than that it’s a pass, especially since it doesn’t smell like the scent notes. To answer someone’s question, I don’t get tomato leaf, which I use in my soap making business, this is basil. Close, but different. It’s fresh, but tomato leaf is a very particular scent, as is basil.

swedishmilk15

Luca Turin claimed that Amethyst has a tomato leaf/vine accord: IS IT TRUE? I'm really trying to find a tomato leaf perfume that isn't Demeter.

VMonster

This one has mixed reviews so I was anxious to blind buy, but I found a bottle on Mercari and lo and behold - I love it. I am a berry lover; I want ALL the berries. As others have said, this is a dark, juicy berry, also fresh berries (not a dessert or sugary smell) but has all the natural sweetness of berries along with a bit of greenness and some gentle musk that is not sharp or synthetic smelling. It is *intoxicating.* My favorite way to wear it is with Pure Seduction Untamed from Victoria's Secret: like sipping iced muddled berry tea in a lush garden filled with dark berries. Easy reach for summer; I prefer this to the usual freshies.

annidelaney

When I first sprayed this one somehow all my nose could pick up was BASIL!! I immediately ran here to see if anyone else had the same issue. One commenter said they got faint Rosemary springs. To be clear I don't hate the Basil, I just wasn't expecting it at all!! As it dries it's becoming more of a soapy smell, which others have commented. I'll have to wait for it to settle for a couple days and then try it again - as of right now it's just a "like" and not a "love." Alas, I'll keep searching for my perfect long lasting juicy fruit dream 😔😂

PlanetGrl

This one is hard to describe, it’s quite unique to me. I don’t dislike it, but I’m not sure if I like it either. The batch is from just over 3 years ago, and I get a ton of the powdery flower oleander. Not just a little, like bringing the flower right up to your nose and inhaling deeply. There’s a super quick burst of mint(?) at the beginning and it’s gone in a flash. The sweet berries on the top dry down relatively quickly and leave me with one of the scents I dislike most, overbearing grandma-ish powder, maybe even a little anise or licorice. My first impression of this isn’t a great one, but I think I’ll give it a chance. Edit: This is a no for me, reminds me of a boring 1980s scent, although I think this is an old bottle that may not have been stored properly.

Eveningrose

Kind of screechy on opening like alcohol but the dry down is like powdery and berry ish like if u just mashed raspberry, blueberry and blackberries together and smelled it . I have to test the longevity on this one .

Update: I was almost ready to give this away. It takes some time to grow on you. Now, I really enjoy this scent . It’s gives me the feeling of picking assorted berries on a cold morning.

Lollypopp

Interesting. Very berry heavy on the top, when it dries down I get a touch of floral but more of the woody base notes come out for me. Not sure if I will keep this one. I was a huge fan of The Body Shop Dewberry back in the day and was hoping to get a whiff of nostalgia here. There are similarities but this is probably more "grown up" than Dewberry. It is a very difficult to describe scent. I may keep it a while to see if my nose "adjusts" to it as it isn't horrible, I'm just not sure it will be a fragrance that I reach for. Very sharp on the berry notes. The jury is still out...

Amethystery

Imagine a foggy blackberry field in the early autumn. The berries are so ripe they are falling off the stems and the leaves are so dewy you can feel the scent of its natural oils in the air. That is exactly what Amethyst by Lalique smells like.

The berries in this are not like a crushed/juicy berry, but rather what you would smell if you stuck your nose in a basket of freshly picked black currants. It is very green, very sweet but not cloying. I personally imagine Alice Cullen from Twilight wearing something similar.

The lasting power is amazing, this lasts on my clothes for days.

Amethyst has truly captured my heart. I absolutely love gloomy weather and this perfume is perfect to wear on rainy autumn/winter days. I will keep this in my collection until they discontinue. With that said, this scent is definitely not for everyone and not a safe blind buy.

Skinscents4Fusspots

I'm so happy to see the review below mine! This is unrecognisable from the reviews I've read and watched prior to buying. I was genuinely about to do a covid test for fear I had lost my sense of smell, because this is (after two big sprays!) Is extremely transparent, barely any berries to be sniffed and is a super skin scent. It has dried down - as singlehandedbeauty said - to a fancy soap smell. I got a sample of an atelier cologne scent with this and it's a beast so nope! Nothing wrong with my nose. Okay I'm already wearing a perfume today but I'm wearing Harajuku Lovers G of the Sea..... which is basically a body spray, so I should be able to smell this!

Is it possible that it's been reformulated or there has been a bad batch recently? Mine came from Notino and it was on special offer. It's light and soapy and has more of a leaves and stalks of the berries sort of smell than actual juicy berries. It's super confusing! I can smell it when I put my arm eight up to my face, but otherwise, nothing.

Very strange indeed! Not unpleasant, but just nothing like expected or described by others :(

Edit! I tried this again knowing what to expect and I get VERY sharp and watery blackcurrant, waxy leaves, a green herbal note that reminds me of Rosemary sprigs, then it gets a bit woody and in comes a ton of musk. The overall result is a light berry, herbal, woody scented soap. More of a bar soap than shampoo as it's not screechy and it's super waxy. In fact it kinda smells like a really fancy candle!

I'm guessing the Musk is what makes people say this is sexy but I'm a yellow musk lover AND a creamy / waxy bar-soap perfume lover and I'm still not sure if I can deal with this one. I think maybe I need to keep it until colder months and see how I feel because this doesn't feel like a summer scent to me at all. It might be fabulous in Autumn?! We shall see!

Beautiful bottle at a price I could not resist. I was afraid Lalique Amethyst would be too berry-centric, but I actually wanted more because all I got was SOAP. Granted, a very nice, high-quality, luxury soap with berry nuances. I suspect that it's a "me problem" in that certain flowers and musks turn very soapy and masculine on my skin. It performs well: good longevity and moderate projection, and I think it would be a great fragrance for layering. I will hang on to it because I think my mother just might like this one. She loves her clean musk fragrances and the nuanced berries are a nice twist.

sentientscent

This was an impulse buy, I think it was something like 22€ for 100ml on sale, a bargain. The dark purple packaging and the bottle gave an impression that this would be blackberry heavy, like Philosophy's Falling in Love. FiL is simpler and sweeter, Amethyst is sharper and maybe more grown up way to do and wear berry scents. To me the dominat berry here is currant at the start. Then it mellows and you get flowers and tiny bit of dryness of woods. To me this smells like a garden - very much a spring and summertime scent to wear. The green notes here remind me of the point in spring when the birch trees start to grow their leaves, it's that special kind of sweet sappy green smell.

Kuty22

This scent lasts forever on the skin it's amazing
I need a backup bottle
I feel incredibly sexy when I wear this
It's a love 😍 😍 😍 😍

LinnieR

The projection and performance of this perfume is insanely good! I pick up on all of the listed berries and they create such a juicy scent it makes my mouth water. I usually get lots of compliments when I wear it. Some have been surprised when I tell them it's not a niche perfume and I sure understand why, it feels unique in it's simplicity.
It's so sultry and my favorite time to wear it is on a rainy summer day!

Mistress Eva

Amethyst is a decidedly “purple” fragrance done right, IMO. The berries are prominent and sparkling, the peony and rose give it a cheerful floral heart, and the base notes provide just enough support for this delightful perfume. Fortunately, the bourbon vanilla isn’t overpowering– as it is my least favorite type of vanilla. Musk and woody notes make up the majority of the base.

Amethyst is a floral fruity that I definitely like, an accomplishment for a fragrance in a genre that is very hit and miss for me. Not a gourmand, IMO.

AutumnJewel

Note For Myself: Berry but, not a bright berry.
Not impressed with the scent that fills the air (or lands on my skin) with the first spray.
With so much hype about the fragrance I was expecting better... a subtle green note came through which I can definitely say could pass as “sexy” but not super alluring.
Not a bad fragrance at all but it is not unique to me therefore I will not repurchase.
Overall 3.5/5

ArianaS

Very refreshing for the summer. Better and more unique than many niche fragrances even though is not what I want from a perfume but is definitely very qualitative. It’s like a blackberries, forest fruits juice and you can actually feel the crispiest. Doesn’t smell synthetic at all, you can smell every fruit separately but still together somehow.

ValleyGirl86

This scent is so refreshing and crisp and sweet. I wear it when it's really warm outside, or just really sunny and beautiful, or if I feel like my mood needs a little pick-me-up. I get the Black Currant and the Blackberry first off. It's got a nice, subtle tartness to it. After it's been on the skin for a few minutes, I can tell the flowers mellow out the fruits. I feel like I can pick out the Rose a little, but at the same time I feel like not one of the flowers sticks out more than the others. The base blends together really well so, again, I can't really pick out any particular part of it, but I think it's the Musk doing wonders on my skin.
It's definitely a little more girly and youthful, but such a pretty scent. The longevity is pretty good for being so light. If I fluff my shirt later in the day, or pull my collar up over my nose, I can smell it coming up off of me, and if I don't wash the top I wear while wearing Amethyst, I can always smell it on that top the next time I wear it.
Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a fruity, fresh, clean, sweet scent.

TatianaChoco

The garden of my grandma during the summer - black currants and its leaves, very realistic scent. After the top notes, the pepper, peony and ylang are the strongest there. The drydown is woody, sweet.

LittleYsatis

Most realistic black currant. I grew up in eastern Europe so black currant smell is very familiar. Somebody said that it smell synthetic, not for me. Most realistic black currant juice. I received 2 complements today wearing this fragrance. Projects like crazy.

Kuty22

Another blind buy 🙈
I've been meaning to buy this fragance for over 3 years now, I've always been hesitant but damn for no reason apparently
I absolutely love this fragance, on my skin is not dark nor deep, it is fruity and sweet and yes on my skin is not green it smells like blueberry and mulberry candy - I don't have anything like it in my collection, because even though it's fruity and sweet(to me) it's not child-like.
I'd say this fragance is more of a 'young' scent, no limits really - but starting 15 you can definitely wear this one

Lolafraglover

...Did someone said...old lady?! i'm confused, it's definitely not a old lady scent, and it's all feminin as well. In my skin , i just feel the top notes for all it's life (the black Currant, Blackberry, Blueberry, mulberry). No woods, no rose, not a slight vanilla on me...I like to spray it when i go to sleep. This scent is so gorgeous without being heady. In fact, it's the opposite; it is so "airy", like it just vanishes in the air, it' sooo light, a skin scent. Unfortunately it's not long lasting (at least on me). I spritz and i spritz and...yep...It's a pity because the scent is beautiful. I'm wearing this everyday, in all occasions though. "Le Parfum" behaves better in the projection and long lasting department.

saccitygrl01

If you are looking for a blackberry fragrance this may be the one. The opening is a strong blackberry and mulberry scent. As it dries down, as other have noted about this fragrance, it becomes a blackberry bramble scent. It is so well done, I feel like a kid standing amid the brambles eating blackberries off the vine in the warm sun whenever I wear this fragrance. There is a strong pepper note at the open but it settles down quickly and it evolves into the bramble note. What I love about this blackberry fragrance is you still have the blackberry note upon dry down and for hours thereafter. It lasts about 4 hours on my skin before I want to refresh so that I can experience that lovely berry opening again. I am so glad I got this (blind buy) and it will definitely be a staple in my collection.

GUADELUPA

Too much black currant. It's not berry, it's leaves. Black currant here is not natural, but concentrated and chemical, bitter and much more unisex than feminine. Only for winter season, it's too heavy for summer. Longevity and sillage are all day long, but for me it's unbearable. Beautiful bottle and that is all for me!

Silverquick

Not at all what I expected after reading reviews below. If nothing else it reminded me how different notes are amplified or muted on different skin types. I got a hugely sharp green and spicy opening. The pepper giving heat and the feel of thorns to the sharp green feeling berries. They aren’t ripe juicy sweet berries but those sharp, tannic and dark blackcurrants (which aren’t thorny) … the rose came bursting through and felt very much like the top notes of Atomic Rose for me (only thing missing was the very sweet crystal sugar note and hedione overdose). I then got jammy. berries, soft clean woods and musk on the dry down. It’s a like not a love. But very interesting. I shall keep dipping into my 10ml decant to experience her longer. This isn’t “old lady” at all - my experience was Docs, great clean skin and a dark sheer lip with a flip of the middle finger - 90s glam grunge babe.

AriaLennon

Fruity scent with the floral fragrances in the perfect blend ever. You will come across several fruity and floral fragrances but finding the one in perfect proportion is quite difficult. Top notes in this one are Black Currant, Blackberry, Blueberry, mulberry and Big Strawberry; middle notes are Pepper, Peony, Rose and Ylang-Ylang; base notes are Musk, Woody Notes and Bourbon Vanilla. Amethyst is seriously a seamless beauty lasting on the skin for long time and still is a perfect one for the summer. This is evocative and truly a treasure for me. This is simple and linear but a unique creation that elevates the mood to be joyful easily. I would say Amethyst is an elegant, calm and truly feminine fragrance that you can wear anywhere, be it office, regular grocery shopping, hangouts with friends, date nights and even on romantic dinners. Performance is also good and the bottle looks amazing.

Lovesmells

Maybe you wish the same as I do > That is, keep reading reviews before I buy something. The reviews were too late for me.
Why a purple bottle?
This should be in a green bottle.
I'm in agreement with others. Sharp single jolt of currant. But it very, very fast transitions to a green, bush fragrance. Think of those green bushes used as a fence, it's not the green of the berry leaf. It's mossy. Then, there's a reminder of a fruity rose that is really nothing. The dry down on my skin was a very subtle musk. Nothing sweet here. This is not the more common berry that others expect.
It stayed close to the skin with very little expression. Good for Spring and Summer when the heat can bring that greenness out. Daywear, but I would even say it would be sultry for warm evening for some.
Will keep but unlikely to wear, even in aforementioned seasons or occasions. The husband's nose did not like either.

I found this perfume when I was in the rabbit hole of fragrances looking for perfumes that were similar to Dolce & Gabanna's L'Imperatrice 3. A fairytale fairy princess (or a nature nymph) was the visual impression that I saw in my mind when I was reading positive comments in the Fragrantica.com reviews for Lalique Amethyst.

The reviews that served as the tipping point were the ones in which they were saying that this perfume was like a garden fairy princess, for some reason - I just loved that concept!

An earlier review by Emerson 10, they mentioned that this perfume is "totally a teen fragrance. Moscato is to wine as this is to perfume." This is definitely a light hearted, sweet/sour blend which resonates YOUNG, FRESH, UNIQUE!

[My first impression of this perfume is that this is the daughter or younger sister to Dior's original Poison. Amethyst is softened where it is easier to wear - with less of the heavy woodsy notes in Poison.
(Other reviews have compared this to Lancome's Tresor Midnight Rose -- Lalique's Amethyst may be a mix between a softer approach of Dior's Poison - and Lancome's Tresor Midnight Rose).]

---------

This begins with a strong jolt of a bright spring type green note which is rather sharp on the skin (the closest thing that I can compare this to in my collection would be Kim Kardashian's signature perfume in the first stages of wear where the perfume smells similar to baby aspirin)... it has that sweet/sour type blend which has been super popular in a number of new perfumes on the market. Within the first 8 or so minutes of wear, the sharp green note (baby aspirin) turns more into a medium sweet berry note on the skin with subtle hint of the sharp green notes washing over this as you sniff the arm.

This isn't for everyone.
This is unusual and interesting.
This is a spin on the same sweet/sour dynamics that are happening in perfumes like Dolce & Gabanna's L'Imperatrice 3.

-----------

From some of the reviews, I was actually expecting something more along the lines of L'Artisan's Merchant Loup with more of a berry expression (rather than the heavy moss impression from Merchant Loup).

Lalique Amethyst is much more of a lighter expression than what I had envisioned from reading the reviews. Amethyst is not as bright and sharp as D&G's L'Imperatrice 3, but it shares the outdoorsy type vibe. Amethyst is like the teenage daughter's version of L'Imperatrice 3. Although this could be worn by all ages, I feel that it has a vibe that would lend itself well to junior high or high school aged girls -- or for women of all ages who like a lighter expression of this type of perfume. Amethyst's genre is more in line with Lancome's Tresor Midnight Rose (from the perfumes that I have tried in the past) -- only Amethyst is less intense, a softer approach.

If you are really seeking a fairytale elf princess perfume -- Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and Emeralds is much more THAT. I could also see Christian Dior's original Poison blend falling into that type of category.

--------

I'm still testing this, this has lovely moments.
There are aspects of this perfume that I really like - and I have moments where I feel as though this is turning into a "Love"!

The bottle design is beautiful with the etched vines on the front of the bottle.
Lalique is known for their glass designs, which they have carried to an artistic level.

This is the first Lalique perfume I have tried.
This wears a bit more soft and timid than the perfumes that I typically wear, but the general vibe of this perfume is unique and bears a resemblance to fresh fruit as it ripens in the sun.

--------------

Updating: after wearing this perfume a few more times

It has an unusual smell which is similar to the fresh fruitiness of the perfume by Dolce and Gabbana called L'Imperatrice 3. This is a bit more like the vine of the plant, it smells more like ivy at times - it is sweet/sour - a good blend of the two - which makes this unusual.

It behaves YOUNG --
Not extremely juvenile, but I could definitely see this being worn by someone who is still in junior high/high school... it is fresh. It will appeal to women who like to wear something a bit upbeat - sweet. This is ageless and timeless on someone who really loves this type of perfume, but this definitely leans YOUNG.

You would need to sample this one.
There is an earthy quality to this that may appeal to those who like gardening and being out in nature.

I received some very nice compliments from a 32 year old guy (very handsome by the way) at my last office, he asked me what I was wearing where he could buy it for his girl friend. I took that as a very nice compliment! This is a unique perfume, it could be a signature scent on a woman who would appreciate this.

-----------

This perfume is fairly high pitched, bordering on soprano.
If you are someone who is prone to perfume headaches in hot weather - this perfume is one that you would definitely want to sample, first. The first 20 minutes of wear, it is much sharper than when this has had time to blend more into the skin. If you can make it through the first 20-30 minutes of this perfume, you will probably really like this one...but it is definitely more of a unique type perfume.

Either this will resonate with you, or not.
You should really try this one and see.

------------

I tried Amethyst Exquise but that perfume wears much heavier and with more of a powdery type essence. I like Amethyst much better. If you really like purple fragrances, Lalique has some good fragrances to try. I prefer Amethyst, it was much better with my chemistry.

aldinatic

Perfume on a cold summer night, that's the way I imagine.

Sofia87

I'm so dissapointed. I was expecting a uplifting, sultry blend. But it's bland and boring. I mean the notes are great, but I find the peony too strong. The dark berries gives off a soft dark berry scent. It smells as if you put a berry-shampoo on dry skin and whipe it off or as if a berry lemonade splash has dried on the table. The trails left would be this perfume. If you're sensitive to strong scents and want a weak berrytea-floral scent with mediocre sillage/projection then go for it. I asked my boyfriend, first he said he couldn't smell it at all and then second time he said it smelled very soapy. I agree, it's very green and gets soapier and muskier by the minute. I can't really dedect the vanilla at all. I'm left with peony-musky-berry. So for me this blind-buy is a pass unfortunately.

Storí

I love to wear this on grey rainy days. I do get the damp earth, but not overwhelmingly so. This reminds me of a light dry berry wine without having the distinctive alcohol smell. I agree that the sillage and lasting power are modest so I do like to layer it with other scents like philosokos. The floral and vanilla are not detectable for me. I think it's a fantastic choice for the price.

Chavezb3

This is a cold berry tea with leaves in the tea. It’s a cold scent (if that makes sense) and the berries are very much natural smelling. This is not overly sweet synthetic berries. Now that sounds pretty amazing BUT it sometimes plays tricks on me and I feel like it smells like dirty mop water, sweat, dirty socks. It’s weird because it happens randomly. And when that happens it goes from being cold to having a humid vibe and stuffy. I’m not sure if it’s the green vibe it has to it that sometimes gives off those smells. Idk it’s a weird one. Performance is not the best. Last like 30 minutes and it’s something maybe only you could smell, which is probably a good thing considering that it sometimes smells funky. Not really a fan.

Rober7a

Yes!! Dark juicy currants, not synthetic, not too tart, not too syrupy, just what I was looking for. Sillage and lasing power could be better, but for the price I'm not complaining, can spray a bit extra. This will be great for layering as it's quite linear, but I quite enjoy it on it's own as a casual wear.

Torieleigh13

I’m surprised no one is commenting on the peony, which to my nose is the strongest note in this composition and definitely what I believe is the most divisive component. If you’re unfamiliar with peony, it can smell like a lot of odd things like gasoline or dead house plants. I personally love it, though I can see why not everyone would. This fragrance is no different, it’s absolutely divine for when I feel like smelling like a fancy old Hollywood film siren stepping out of the bath.

OTA Mom

I definitely get the shampoo vibe with this one, and sometimes that's just how I want to smell--softly fruit scented and clean

mauvealert

This smells like the little sister of Enchanted Forest by The Vagabond Prince. It has the boozy berries, the pepper, the rose, the woody musky vanilla base, without the prominent fir, vetiver and oakmoss. They are both evocative of a fairytale (something about roses, brambles, shadowy woods…) Amethyst has softer silage and arguably a more mainstream vibe, so it shouldn’t offend. I don’t get hairspray or shampoo, just a lovely green berry scent that was a really pleasant surprise after I put off trying it for a while because I thought it wouldn’t be my cup of tea.

Aglopez09

I've seen so many people rave about this frag, that I was certain I would like it. It smells very woody... soapy... mixed with berries. Hard pass

8Jules8

This has the aroma of running through the brush during a rainstorm bare footed. There’s moist, dark dirt in between each toe and there’s the scent of worms who’ve just been washed above ground. It’s herbal like moss and wet leaves are. It does NOT smell like berries….
Or vanilla or flowers.
I am not into smelling like the damp earth. But if you are then this is your signature.

WARNING: This is two reviews in one (hence it's length)... PDM Meliora vs Lalique Amethyst

After really enjoying my sample of Parfum de Marly Meliora but hearing that the longevity wasn't amazing, I sought out possibly similar perfumes. Lalique Amethyst is the number one hit comparison when it comes to Meliora. Being that I still have a bit of my Meliora sample left, I decided to purchase Amethyst (for just over $20) and compare them side by side.

At first, I sprayed only Amethyst because I wanted to experience it as a stand-alone fragrance first, without my enjoyment of Meliora altering my perspective. From the first blast, there is quite a bit of alcohol... as in quite a bit of liquid; however, there is just as much fragrance oil to go with it. I would recommend spraying in a sweeping motion to get the best diffusion.

Immediately at the top, I thought "wow, this really does smell like PDM Meliora" - it was berry and musk! A minute in, I decided to spray Meliora on the other wrist to start the comparison. I was truly shocked by the first couple of minutes. They were very similar. Amethyst had a slightly green and viney smell with a more prickly texture; even though I usually do not like green touches in my fragrances, I actually thought this added a nice uniqueness and it was ever so faint anyway. Amethyst opens up as black currant, mulberry, perfectly ripe blackberry (all with their vines), and musk. For comparison, Meliora opens as red current, a super overripe raspberry (no vines included), and musk.

A few minutes into the dry down is when Amethyst begins to change into a more polarizing fragrance. The musk leans slightly synthetic and the pepper (BLACK pepper) begins to lift up and create an almost super green, scratchy, peppery licorice type of smell. Unfortunately, this smell is very off-putting for me. On my skin, this peppery licorice scent is slightly more prominent than the berries and the musk, though you still get all of them throughout the fragrance. It is most definitely a unique smelling fragrance, almost like a freshly brewed spiced mulberry tea... not sure why someone would put black pepper in tea, but somebody's gotta do it somewhere. For comparison, Meliora becomes a bit more over-ripe with the red currant and overripe raspberry combining into an almost grape-like scent - I would call it "grape-currant." It is also quite musky... like a natural musk, not a simple/typical synthetic musk. From this point, Meliora stays a bit linear.

Deeper into the dry down, where Meliora starts to become slightly vanillic... Amethyst becomes more peppery; however, the pepperiness projects stronger and Meliora starts to settle down quite a bit. Notes that I don't like tend to be the ones I'm more sensitive to, so it is possible that my dislike for the peppery is what actually makes it seem like it is projecting more.

When I wore Meliora out to dinner, I could still smell it all throughout dinner and after I had changed my clothes for bed time that night. I remember looking at my partner and saying "damn, I still smell so good." I would say 2-3 hours of projection and about 5 hours of longevity. This was with 3 sprays around my neck and chest and 2 sprays on the cardigan I was wearing.

Overall, PDM Meliora is my choice hands down but I can see many people with a more unique taste enjoying Lalique Amethyst as well. Additionally, I think I am drawn to Meliora because it reminds me of Victoria's Secret Victoria (an original they no longer sell). Because I no longer have it, I can't tell how similar they actually are and the notes on Fragrantica seem totally off. Anyway, I loved that fragrance. It smelled tart (almost sour), musky, sweet and full of juicy red berries. It was a very sensual fragrance to me... very pheromonal. For the first time in years, I get a similar essence with Meliora.

kalhie

I bought the decant with warm hopes this would be good based on the notes, and wow! It’s one of my favourites and just now got a full bottle. I really like the opening, very ripe berries, not sweet but luscious and taken from a garden just after a heavy rain. It stays that way for 30 minutes and then it melts in the skin leaving a fruity, herb, beautiful rose smell. The musk is faded by the fruity smell. It’s like a very expensive, exclusive soapy smell (which I personally really enjoy!)

Luluteeter

Bought this as a Perfumes de Marley Meliora dupe. Is it 100% identical? No. More like 95% the same and I got it for $27 on fragrancenet soooo I couldn’t be happier. It’s fruitier than hell and I’m so into it.

CurlGurl

A lot of people wear this in the summer but to me it's best in the colder months. Lots of berries are the star. To me it is sweet, but not sickly or cloying. If you wear this in warm weather, it's definitely sickly and cloying. It's very refreshing, girly, and office appropriate. This one shines in the cold.

Bee-young-ka

Out the box first impression (everything arrives hot out here) on paper first, It makes me remember my childhood bathroom (80's child) there was a transparent fruit soap in a dish that I used to pick up and sniff . Not a soapy smell mind you, it's fruity but in a bathroom way, does that make sense?
On skin a green light note comes out.
good projection so far.

Hmmm. maybe it needs some time to rest in the cool.
Perles De Lalique needs time to rest if the bottle is warm & I'm on my unteenth bottle of that.

So far so good.
Beautiful bottle as always with Lalique

mangooo

I heard a lot of mixed reviews so I got ahold of a card sample before purchasing. The opening is a refreshing berry dominant scent, but it's not really sweet. It's fresh berries with no sugar added. After a few minutes, the berries kind of fade into the background and I mostly get florals (for me it's rose bush dominant, the entire rose bush) + some slight herbal tone. I heard a lot of people mentioning that there was a strong green note in here which I was worried about but I actually don't really smell it, to me it feels like it's the leaves of a rose bush with the petals. It's a very refreshing and clean scent, not heavy, jammy, or too sweet. It's like a way lighter and less sweet version of midnight rose by lancome with a tad more floral and a smidge of herbalness. It does seem to sweeten a more as you wear it - think ripening berries and the herbalness dissipates. Very musk heavy drydown

I think this would be perfect for layering with other scents and for those who like fruity scents but don't want anything too sweet. It's a grown up berry scent but still with a youthful lightness to it. If you're looking for a super fruity scent, you might be a be a bit disappointed in this one because it's not pure berry - think a berry beverage with some herbs in there and no sugar added with a side of rose petals & leaves. This is a scent that not everyone will like to wear but if you smelled it on someone else you'd probably think it was pleasant. In other words
nothing offensive or loud here. The herbal note that some won't jive with fades pretty quickly. Not really a head turner either, but it's a lovely & fresh everyday scent. Definitely will get a full bottle especially since it's very affordable!

EDIT: I wonder if this was reformulated? I got a full bottle and the berries are not as prominent and the herbal/green notes are amped up. Dry down isn't as sweet and is very heavy on the musk. Longevity and sillage noticeably weaker than the sample. (Batch code number is much shorter than the batch code on my sample, not sure which is newer). It's still a love for me but just a heads up!

Jswizzle1802

This was a blind buy based off of reviews from YouTube and I’ve got to say this was a lot different than I thought it would be but, that’s a good thing! Very unique, fruity and juicy almost syrupy but you get some of the leaves and stems of the fruit as well. I smell the pepper coming through underneath just a tad so it’s not too overwhelming. Works very well on my skin personally. Dark and mysterious. 8.5/10 :)

Pebblesjebbles333

I was honestly caught by surprise with this! I have been wanting to try this for the longest time because i love all berry scents. I was so excited when i finally got this. I was expecting the scent to be either sweet syrupy berry like Always Red by EA or just strawberry like sweetness like BCBG MaxAzria.

So i truly got disappointed because all my nose can smell is green. Like green grass, or green herbs or something from a forest and i can smell the peppery notes. I could barely smell any berries which is why i got this. Sigh :( but i could still see some people appreciating this because it is quite unique. Its just that this is not for me. Oh well at least the bottle is pretty in my collection.

Zombie Apocalypse

I wonder how many people think they should like Amethyst based on all the Influencers opinons. I blind bought this and I do agree it is unique. To me it smells like an herbal apothecary tincture for bloating or something. Very medicinal/herbal. 1 spray and it actuality set off my allergies. Itchy nose, throat and tons of REGRET. This is not for me.

MaxieF

Amethyst EDP

This is the closest thing to barbie hair that I've found. Not baby doll. Barbie heads. Barbie hair smells like a plastic shampoo. I LOVE it. Its not syrupy sweet at all.. It's not super fruity either. it's more soapy like freshly washed dry hair. It's not strong but it does last a good amount of time. I wouldn't consider this gourmand at all. I also don't think it smells like iced tea like a lot of people have said. It's just fresh. It's like at 6am you washed your hair with a blackberry shampoo, put it up, and then at the end of the work day you took your hair down and you can smell that you washed you're hair that morning.

Edit: I found a fragrance that dries down to the EXACT smell of barbies. It's called Room129. It's a coolaid fragrance but the coolaid fades and your left with this synthetic plastic barbie hair smell.

Millapetrovich

I don’t know what I’m missing here but on my skin it smells like a cheap shampoo. And the dry down reminds me of KKW Kimoji Peach. Disappointed.

kcoughlin

Of the three Amethyst scents I tried, this is my favorite. It has the same juicy, fruity quality as the other two but isn't as sickly sweet. I like that it is more peppery and green too. Less like a sugar-filled berry jelly and more of a ripe bush.

Jessiejessjess99

Blind bought this as a supposed Meliora dupe. I can say they are definitely similar but not identical, Amethyst is a lot more berry forward with a slightly earthier base whereas Meliora for me is a bit lighter in notes, with a bubbly champagne forward scent. Amethyst is still very lovely and smells a lot more expensive than what it is but the wear time isn't amazing. Maybe 5 hours until I think I need to top up and projection is pretty weak.

Itssarabelle

I blind bought this months ago and it quickly became a holy grail. To me, this is what a beautiful fairy in the forest would smell like. The berries in this aren’t sugar sweet.. they are ripe, juicy, and a tiny bit bitter.. I can also smell the leaves and vines. It’s beautiful, earthy, and simply magical. I’ve read mixed reviews about the longevity and performance but on me, this has moderate projection and it lasts about 5-6 hours on my skin.

MimesOtto

This is berries all the way...if you don't like fruity fragrances, stay away from this one. Amethyst is not v. sweet though, it is a nice faintly sweet berry scent..weak to moderate performance...I find it suits spring time the best, I find it lacks something in the composition, i.e. it needs maybe a stronger vanilla or a floral note..but as it is decent for the price!

Dramaloladiva

Cheap dupe for Parfums de Marly Meliora! I honestly feel that they both share the same fruity/woody notes. I don’t own Amethyst anymore (I sold it) because I wouldn’t reach for it almost at all...I prefer Meliora as it is more subtle and refined but honestly, they smell identical. Ultimately, Amethyst smells pretty, feminine, fruity, slightly soapy and woodsy. It’s a very safe and clean scent that decidedly borders on the boring side...

If I had to choose between the 3 Amethysts from Lalique, I’d go with Amethyst Exquise! It has more depth and character than Amethyst or Amethyst Éclat...

What a beauty!:))) It's middle of the summer here in Poland now, it's warm and stormy, forest fruit are ripening so there's no better time for using Amethyst! It's amazingly juicy, natural-smelling, slightly peppery - not a vanilla-based synthetic nightmare marketed for 12-year-old girls or younger - it's beautifully natural, herbal, sour and bitter. Like a forest-fruit nectar. It is rather a close-to-skin scent but it smells longer on clothes. At this price, spraying a lot is not a problem.
I remember smelling it over 10 years ago on a winter evening and for some reason I didn't like it so much back then - perhaps Ylang popped out on me that evening. Today I don't smell it at all, just gorgeous forest fruit - mainly blackcurrant and blackberry, but also pepper and mint (not listed). It smells like fruit and boreal forest:D

SummerRose

If you want something different with berries but not too sweet, then this maybe it. I think this is a unique fragrance where I can smell the berries, rose, leaves and stem. I also get the woody notes and vanilla. You may want to test before you buy. It was a blind buy for me but I'm happy to have this in my collection!

Liliana Ângelo

It opens very sharp, almost greenish but let that burst calm down and you'll encounter a very beautiful fragrance. It has the fruity side without being very sweet and the vanilla/musk dry down is very subtle.

I have purchased a full 100ml bottle for 22€ in Notino website and thought that if I didn't like it at least it was not expensive, but I'm glad I did buy it! Very good surprise, even my kids compliment me on this fragrance!

It's not the same but it gives me the vibes of JM blackberry and bay but more fruity and musky/vanilla in the dry down.

It lasts 2h on full power then it becomes more close to the skin, it's safe to overspray because it's not very offensive. Throughout the day I get wiffs of the scent and it's good, some berries still in and the vanilla/musk in the base.

Itstartedwithtinkerbell

I’ve been using multiple samples of this trying to decide if it’s full bottle material for me. I do like it. I get the blackberry/berry musky quality for sure. Something else I get that doesn’t seem to be common is, I get an extremely soapy but actually more “detergenty” quality with this. Like clean and soapy but actually more like a generic dish detergent, or actually, the smell of the detergent that makes bubbles in inexpensive “bubble blowing” bottles with the little plastic wand! That’s the first thing I thought of with this. Maybe I’m a weirdo! But I do like it, I do get the musky berry elements, coupled with a soapy/detergent element. Just my 2cents.

RainbowGirl

I love the packaging of this perfume. The deep purple box, and the deep purple glass bottle, with the blackberries etched in the glass. I was so excited to try this.

When you first spray Amethyst, you do smell blackberries and mulberry. Definitely the main notes. The mulberry gives this an almost red wine scent, but not quite. This is an amazingly beautiful opening. Feels like drinking a mulled blackberry wine, out of a rugged pewter mug, in a deep forest cottage.

This strong berry scent fades so quickly. I sprayed a normal amount around me (and for me normal is a lot), walked away, and before I sat down, I went back and sprayed this all over me again!

Now, with a proper load of this sprayed on, I do occassionally get a blackberry & mulberry scent aura around me. Nose to skin, I get mild berries, a smidgen of pepper, a very light floral, and a hint of soapiness. My arms are glistening with oily perfume, but the fragrance is so light.

It's a beautiful fragrance, but if this scent lasts longer than 20 minutes, I will eat my sock.

MWS3

This definitely reminds me of PDM Meliora. Amethyst is a beautiful mix of berries, musk, woody notes and vanilla. The only middle note I’m not sure that I get is the ylang ylang. As it dries down, there is something about it that kind of reminds me of the drydown of Angel Nova… but better. The dry down of Angel Nova is too peppery and woody for me, but Amethyst is much more tolerable. A really nice scent for Spring and Summer days.

I am so glad I blind bought this. The reviews here and on YouTube were so mixed. On me this smells like dark berries and sexy musk. It’s a bit mysterious but also versatile. This is a skin smelling scent but also projects quite nicely. This perfume is a bunch of contradictions in the best way possible. But one think I know is it’s sexy and no one else will smell like you. My mom wears jo malone blackberry and bay, and it’s like if that was toned down and sexy musk was added.

lillypad33

As others have stated the opening is where the florals are (interestingly since these are the middle notes) but then they quickly fade and the top notes (berries/fruits) become prominent. On me these also faded pretty quickly, settling into a slightly smokey/spicey but not obnoxious scent. Not a bad fragrance, actually to me it was quite different from other things I've smelled, but disappointingly short-lived and didn't really unfold the way it was supposed to. I'll enjoy the tester but don't think I would buy the full-size.

Yllowstar7

I got a sample to see if I should buy a bigger version. As soon. As I smelled it it remind me of something but I could not think of what. Then it came to me. HAIRSPRAY. SERIOUSLY. It smells rancid somehow. I was not tried it on so I’m hoping for a better scent when I do. I think it is a pass.

annasarahr121

Lalique Amethyst was, frankly, a disappointment. It started out promisingly, reminding me of a shampoo or body wash that I used back in the late 1970's or 80's, with an undercurrent of something woodier and more sophisticated, kind of rounded. It also kind of smells like berry candy or gum, or some medicine that I took as a kid -- not necessarily bad things! But, unfortunately, the scent disappeared from my skin after around 15 minutes -- with the exception of a strong iso e super dry, woody, cedar-like smell (also strong in the MUCH better perfume, Perles de Lalique). So, I'm seriously underwhelmed by Amethyst and will not be adding it to my collection. It's important to sample it and test it on your skin first to make sure it actually hangs around on you before buying a bottle.

heatherrose

This brings me back to memories of picking wild berries in Washington state as a child. It's herbaceous, green, fruity, and refreshing. A lovely scent, but a skin scent, for certain - I really wish it lasted longer and had better projection.

Ellsa

At first spray, when I felt a strong medicinal odor, I said is again another perfume that the paid youtubers/ influencers (or whatever those are) promotes it. But after 5 minutes it changed into refreshing gooseberries ( is not listed, but I feel that)and mulberries but like when they are starting to ripen. Is sweet but not overwhelming, a little sour but not like rotten fruits. Thanks God it doesn’t smell at all like Tresor Midnight Rose from Lancome, but a little like Noa Perle from Cacharel. I have Parfums De Marly Meliora but I like this more , the woody notes are not strong as in Meliora, I love this fact, and also because the mulberries, that are my favorite fruits are more evident in this. How is possible that I bought so many perfumes, of which, half of them I really dislike and I missed exactly this little treasure? It reminds me about my childhood when I used to climb the mulberry trees to eat the fruits. Is like this perfume catched the essence of my childhood into a bottle and every time I’m smelling it sends me there. The longevity is pretty good on my skin, can’t complain about this.

Steph_S

I purchased all three of the Amethyst collection (Amethyst, Eclat, and Exquise) as a blind buy based on the notes and because the price was so incredibly affordable. I tried all three and I loved the Eclat and Exquise, but I wasn't too fond of this original fragrance. Because of the blueberry note, I tried it after I applied BBW Blueberry Body Butter. The result is another one of my lounge around the house or run errands on warmer days and on the weekend scents. With the combo, It's fruity, but comforting. Now I'm going to try it with different body cream/butter scents to see if any other combos are as good as the one with the blueberry body butter.

ScarletFBL

All I smell is herbs and BO. No berries, no sweetness, no vanilla. Bought mine from FragranceX - wonder if it's a bad bottle. I heard that transport can change the smell of a perfume, but if you let it settle, it goes back to normal. I'll let it sit for a couple weeks and report back.

Alinany

Initial spray is very herby but it dies down in few minutes then it is a berry-vanilla scent.
It is quite soft and likable if you survive the first 5 minutes

I put it before bed and it was still there when I woke up. It lasts but it is a skin scent

pvincenty

Opening smelled like cat pee on me :( it's not as obvious as its drying down but its a very herbal and tart fruity fragrance. I got it for the affordable price and the comparison to a niche fragrance, which I haven't smelled, but I'm most likely not going to keep this in my collection long-term. Wished it was sweeter!

Tima91

Not what I expected. I unfortunately don't get the dark berries its slightly there for me. I get a really sweet floral mix that almost comes off soapy. There's not enough depth or darkness. To me is a very bright scent. I've tried and tried but it hasn't changed for me. Its doesn't come off juicy at all. Its not bad scent generally but I dont like soapy, and much too artificial. I will say I sprayed this on the card and put in the box with all my other samples it lasted for weeks..

Dissolved_Mind

This is wonderful! Dark berries and herbs. Lots of herbs. I don't detect any flowers or pepper. Out of all dark berries black currant is the most prominent to my nose, which makes this fragrance tart. I love Amethyst, it's fresh, yet a little mysterious, like walking in a dark forest. I'd even call in a little witchy. Also, very unique and different from popular sweet and fruitchouli frags. It reminds me of Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme but lighter and less unisex.

Manya3

I went to buy it about 7 years ago but left with a bottle of the Gothic and moody Encre Noire pour elle instead. For some reason I forgot about this one until I started getting into berry notes again (Tous Touch started it).

So many new and trendy fragrances are about seduction and sex , but it's exhausting to be constantly trying to prove yourself as a "worthy" sex object (or subject if you prefer). There's more to being a woman than just sex. I am not slut-shaming, sex is important and great, I'm just saying that the frag industry often reduces women to just sex objects who need to seduce and entice, or else they don't exist. It is of course not true.
Fortunately there are fragrances that let you simply be, without the pressure of conforming to that image. Amethyst is such a fragrance - it is calm, elegant, unapologetically feminine without being lascivious. Great everyday scent when you're around family or at work and just want to smell lovely.

I agree that there's a green note in the opening, almost anise-like. I find the composition very natural smelling, it is berries and leaves and soil, all dew-covered and dark, just before sunrise. There's something magical about it, in my imagination it evokes Sleeping Beauty's castle overgrown with blackberry thorns, and fairies living in a primeval forest where no man has set foot before. I imagine this is what Cinderella's Fairy Godmother smells like!
I got this as a mother's day gift and it's perfect ❤️ Would recommend to lovers of fresh florals with green notes (no gourmand notes here).

If you are berries lover, do not look everywhere else, this is a greatest one ever and just try it. I am not a fan of fruity fragrances but I do love berries notes especially blackcurrant and blackberry notes. This one has all of the berries. <3 I came a cross this perfume since a couple of years ago but I didn't have chance to test it and to be honest, I lost my way in researching about some perfumes with berries. According to my research and subsequent decisions, I bought a couple of bottles with berries like Gucci guilty absolute, Lancome midnight rose and Lanvin Jeanne couture birdie. I do love LC Midnight rose and Gucci. But for Lanvin, I absolutely fall in love with the dry down but I can't stand the top note as it makes me dizzy. This year I do my research again on berries fragrance and most of the perfume bloggers refer Amethyst by Lalique. So, I simply did just a blind buy. :-) I am so pleased with this lovely bottle and the scent. Man, it is literally what I was looking for. It has everything I loved. As many others say, the longevity is not that good in compare with above mentioned perfumes but man, it is 100% worth to buy. The price is too far low but the quality is so great. One take away for some who doesn't like the green note but berries crazy, please get a try first before doing any blind buy. Because there is a significant green note at the opening.

alexz_88

It is very lovely. It reminds me of a bubble gum I used to get when I was a kid that was berry flavoured. The sillage could be better, cause it is close to the skin. It lasted for hours on my clothes, but on me it was gone after maybe 5 hours, which isn't bad for me.

amandawilliamspalmer

Like this perfume. Surprised not to see aromatic and green in the notes listed. I would describe this as a blackberry bush smell - leaves, thorns, roots and even the wet moss under the bush. Not sweet - green. The dry down is bourbon vanilla. It is an entertaining perfume for a fragrance lover because it changes from green to sweet. It is a great perfume for autumn.

Ectj90

I just don’t understand why it took me so long to try this scent ... PLEASE TRY IT !

Letitlinger

This is probably my biggest let down and blind buy fail of all so far (ah the early days of lockdown). Still in denial because I like the sound of the notes and the bottle. It absolutely smells too much like a berry toilet freshener to me, can't get past it. No booziness, barely any herbalness, just sweet and synthetic like an afterthought that came with a plastic toy. This was a hype trap for sure with the good reviews and low price point. I will however test it again as it is getting cooler in the Southern Hemisphere... maybe that will make it shine?

Mary_M

At the first sniff it smelled to me like a berry air freshener at the Planet Fitness lol. It was a blind buy for $24 based on reviews. I really enjoy black currant. Unfortunately it lasts only a few minutes. Can not detect any pepper or woody notes at all. Maybe something floral. Smells synthetic (not in a bad way). Berry shampoo? Sweet berry soap. Yes, that sweetness is a bit annoying to me, but tolerable. Definitely interesting and different from the rest of the perfumes in my small collection. Will test it in spring-summer. Maybe even layer it with something citrusy.
Sprayed it on my wrist at 10am and still could detect it at 6pm. Not bad.

carlahoffman

This perfume is a delicious, alluring scent that is so beautiful if you like berries and I surely do. What a lovely blend of berries that mix so well together, that they make their own yummy sweetness, that is so pretty, not a candy type which is so pleasing to the senses.

Mixed with a beautiful floral boutique that carries a hint of sweetness that evolves into a vanilla which is creamy with a light musky scent. I love this perfume which has a nice projection (arms reach) that lasted the entire day that reached into the night. Perfect for cooler weather hasn't been warm yet :)

Good for day or night use but I like it best for night time. Works good for dressing up or just lounging in your jeans. I will buy this again for it worth every penny which I was lucky to purchase on sale but would pay full price.. It reminds me of Mon Paris Intense Eau de Parfum.

clemmy

Recently I am big fan of N Lorson and Lalique fragrances.
I started with Amethyst Eclat and I loved it. Then I tried Amethyst and I love it even more.
To me the berries here are stronger and more realistic, juicier and more persistent then in A Eclat (in this latter for me the berry note will be soon transform into a flowery note, while here berries are staying).

If you love berries, do not look everywhere else, this is a great quality spring/summer fragrance with important sillage and persistence. Pleasant to everyone and inoffensive.
Good office scent. 4.5/5

sparklyunicorn

This perfume is so unique, I personally am really impressed at how different it is. It is very herbaceous_ it has a strong 'green' note that to me, smells like a desert bush that I swear I have smelled before... it also has berries and an airy and musky quality that is very refined and light. It does not last very long, but while it's there I think it's a very interesting experience.

Chloé Jay

Hmm, lm back I had to rethink this fragrance over and boy was I wrong about this beautiful fragrance. It smells like a raspberry wine, but a beautiful well put together smooth wine without the alcohol. It lasts for ages on my skin and I love love it!

A very cold berry scent. KInd of artificial, slightly reminiscent of a berry popsicle, but lovely nonetheless. Good amount of sweetness without being overwhelming.

eliego7

To me, this one’s better than PDM Meliora, because there’s a soapy quality to it that Meliora doesn’t have. It is juicy, very unique, a safe blind buy for anyone who likes berries and currant perfumes. It lasts very well on the skin and clothes, everybody seems to love this one. Plus, it’s so cheap! A true gem every perfumista should own.

I wear this one more during the fall months, but it is ultra wearable and would be suitable for any season, any occasion. A must have!

ezpz

This is really a unique fruity fragrance in today's market because it's not sweet and the base doesn't rest on patchouli (thank goodness). It's very reminicent of the discontinued Sun-Ripened Raspberry by B&BW. It's a realistic, somewhat sharp, berry opening. The scent of the blackberry leaves really comes through--we have wild blackberries growing in our area and this fragrance is very realistic of how they smell on a hot summer day.

Then, the fruitiness fades, leaving behind a super clean musk reminiscent of laundry dried on the line. Very clean, familiar, and comforting (not sweet! just reminiscent of childhood in some way).

This is a pretty safe blind buy if you have fond memories of realistic fruity body sprays from the 90s. If you don't like fruity scents, skip this one. It's very affordable, which is good, because the longevity is pretty short--3 hours on skin at most, 6 hours on clothes.

HOUSTONHOUSTON

Safe blind buy if you like a smell of blackcurrant leaves. Very light. Summer/spring perfume. Spaying power is weak (less then an hour after a few sprays). More like a body mist. Not sweet at all, very fresh. Very fruity, I smell only berries and leaves. It was a blind buy based on popularity among fragheads. I will keep it for hot Texas summer. It will be awesome! I can recommend it for someone who lives in hot climate, for young ladies or for someone who can't wear strong perfumes at work. You can spray it in the morning and won't offend anyone at work an hour later. Overall, great purchase.

Hunnynpink

bright current opening then sweet berries and rose syrup drydown. heavier than eclat with more rose and lighter than exquise

hfigures

It's all about the berries. I wear it with raspberry lotion. I get 5-6 hours on my skin and I spray liberally. Very affordable blind buy. It's a favorite.

Mirella86

Although a very beautiful fruity berry scent, very realistic, it literally disappears from skin or clothes in maximum an hour. It's not worth the price if it doesn't last, I have body sprays that perform better than this, and I over sprayed and over sprayed multiple times a day

CdeBXL

Lalique fragrances are never an instant vavavoom in my book. Actually, I've never fallen for their scents, and when I bought them, I did so for the bottle, mainly.

This afternoon, I decided to go to my nice-bottles-but-not-fave-scents-shelf and thought to give this a try again after months of purple solitude.
Last impression I remember of it was licorice sweet dark berry juice, and nothing else. But I gave it another go.

I have no idea what has changed meanwhile, but I got a nice greens and tart and agrumes counterbalance of dark fruit, with increasing peppery notes upon drydown. Has my skin chem changed? Or is it because I am trying this one out now in winter, as opposed to summertime when I acquired it?

Whatever the case may be: this one definitely went from meh-ish to a strong like. I am very glad I held on to it, and it shall now be moved to the like-a-lot shelf.

Madyana

This smells like blackcurrant bush, with berries and leaves. I love it .
I understand that some skin chemistry can make this sour, but for me this is just the perfect day scent.
If you prefer the smell of blackcurrant berry jam, without that leaves, choose Amethist exquise. I love it even more.
😘

pttk1981

Lalique Amethyst is my all time favorite fragrance. It was a blind buy for me (a couple of years ago) and I was absolutely in love with it from the very first sniff. Amethyst is fresh, fruity, very elegant and - the most important for me - it's not overwhelming. I think it's suitable for women of any age and for all seasons. Perfection!

agate.ne

Real mature frag for elegant women. I can tell it's berryness and purpleness from the scent alone. It has this uniqueness that I can't really put my finger on, intriguing. Just like Mugler Alien.

I try amethyst because it gets good reviews and even written as the best frag in Lalique's line. I personally love Lalique's Le Parfum so I am pretty curious to what this house has to offer. However it doesn't work on me. Yet.

I know that based on the experience, some frags will finally come around (though some don't) and thrive on the second try or even third so I am telling myself not to cut short a frag just from the first chance. I will give amethyst another chance later in different weather and see if it'll change my mind

fonty_o

This is a big no no no NO from me! I actually despise this. It reminds me of a cloying fruity air freshener. It brings back memories of girls locker rooms in High School, the super strong scent of cheap body spray in a hot room with no ventilation. Sickeningly sweet and inescapable. First perfume on my Fragrantica Hate List!

uno

Start with full of berries, but it's not juicy berries. It's essence from skins of dark colored berries. Then middle note, peony with hint of pepper comes without sugary sweetness.
I think this is very unique, tender, elegant scent.
If you are berry-lover and already fed up with fruity sweet fragrance, I recommend to try Amethyst.

catswearingperfume

I should have loved this in theory. I tend to like black currant fragrances like this one — fruit without the sugar, a little woody, almost herbal. Other fragrances in this general family are Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay, PDM Meliora, and Dior's Rouge Trafalgar. None of those are dupes, mind you, but they have a similar profile in the sense that they're black currant or blackberry forward, but without an overbearing amount of sweetness. I have and love all of those, so I thought I would really like Amethyst.

But Amethyst fell short for me. I really disliked the type of musk used in this fragrance. The way the musk smells has a "cheapness" about it. It's not a strong musk, but it I do get wafts of it, and each time I do I'm reminded of the musks in the types of drugstore fragrances sold in the 80s/90s.

It also doesn't have a lot of lasting power, though the projection is fine throughout its wear. I don't do a lot of blind buys, but I did blind buy this one because it sounded like the type of thing I would surely enjoy and there weren't any easily attainable samples. Sadly unsuccessful, so I'll pass this one on. At least it wasn't a large investment!

pale_girl33

The fall of Rome, with stern burning vines and much berry wine was lost that day. A scorched plum is recovered. Later, purple flowers bloom and the fog lifts.
They drank from amethyst goblets.
