Jasmins Marzipane by Lancôme is a Woody Floral Musk fragrance for women and men. Jasmins Marzipane was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Dominique Ropion.

"Today, Lancôme has appointed some of the greatest contemporary perfumers to pay homage to Lancôme’s founder, Armand Petitjean. The result is Maison Lancôme's new collection of fragrances that so exquisitely touch upon and carry on Petitjean’s dream, and the essence of the House itself.

This new High Perfumery experience takes a creative stance: the very French art of blending. Each fragrance is crafted in the same manner that one composes a wine of the most superior grade (Grand cru), with a combination of varieties, origins, and extractions that are all specially selected according to precise criteria." - a note from the brand.

So Dominique Ropion seems to have recreated his old perfume Pure Poison with Jasmines Marzipan! It’s softer and less laundry-ish for sure but it definitely smells like Pure Poison, or more specifically it smells like the dry down of Pure Poison Elixir. It has the smoothed edges, added sweetness and creaminess of elixir and is extremely pretty. I do think though, that as with Pure Poison, it doesn’t really smell like a straight-up jasmine perfume. I find Pure Poison to be equally gardenia and jasmine once it settles, with a soapy quality from the orange blossom. That’s why I like it despite normally heartily disliking Jasmine in perfumes (particularly sambac) so I guess it isn’t your average jasmine! I can therefore understand the disappointment if you’re looking for a jasmine and marzipan perfume, because this doesn’t entirely smell like either. It’s also quite soft and subtle but my goodness it’s sooooo luxurious!

If you can get your hands on Pure Poison Elixir then it’s probably cheaper than getting a bottle of this - even though it’s no longer in production - but if you wanted elixir and couldn’t get it then Jasmines Marzipane might be a great alternative. It’s crazy expensive but it’s beautiful and the bottle is an absolute work of art! On top of that, I’ve seen a dupe of Jasmine Marzipane by Genre and as no such thing exists for Pure Poison Elixir, that might be an affordable way to get this lovely scent profile :)

Creamy_ambrette

This is a gorgeous ultra fem white floral woody musk! I can smell the pollen on the stamen of the florals. It’s soften and rounded by the musk and milky wood notes. It’s not gourmand and while a gourmandish version of this would be great, this seems like a easy reach signature scent. You definitely have to love floral to appreciate this. It’s not has heady as Poeme and it’s not as transparent or sheer as Pure Poison. I like it a lot more than Iris Dragees which after pinning for it over a year was a disappointment (very close to L’instant magic not the dream Iris/almond gourmand it was touted to be)

ginandrice

A fluffy, dreamy pollen-puff of a fragrance.

True to its name, Jasmins Marzipane leans delicately sugary and delicious for a fragrance that isn't predominantly a gourmand. The jasmine is plush and marshmallow-y in a way that blends seamlessly with the slightly deeper, warmer notes of malty vanilla. The woody base notes add a whisper of soft pepperiness.

This has the same musky-airy-sweet jasmine note that I love in Le Labo Jasmin 17, but here it evokes mostly soft, watercolor blues and purples--whereas Jasmin 17 is all warm pastel orange and cream tones.

There's a sweet, girlish wistfulness to it, like Mazzy Star's Fade Into You and Taylor Swift's Snow On The Beach. Like Monet's paintings of his garden at Giverny. Like taking a solitary walk around a scenic pond, while imagining walking the same path with that one particular person whose company you most desire.

patimbam

I will jump on the same wagon as below - not worth it. You can for sure buy better jasmine scent than this, cheaper.

TxTizzy

Must not be discontinued, because I got a bottle a few weeks ago, from NM at the Houston Galleria. She’s so very pretty, though overpriced.

leahlzander

First sniff is some weak, vaguely floral thing, like the washed-out petals left floating in water after the bouquet has been thrown away. This unimpressive first stage then shifts into an equally weak, vaguely woody thing. About ten minutes in, the wood deepens, broadens, and becomes sweeter and more resonant, like tea given time to steep. The almond note emerges at last. There are no longer any florals to be found, but as the florals up top weren't worth keeping, this is no great tragedy. The result is a pleasant, musky, slightly sugary cloud. Nice, but not great.

darkRoyalty

For its price you can actually buy 3 perfect jasmine/jasmine sambac scents that are way more sophisticated and elegant. First of all, the two kinds of Jasmines mixed up give off a very childish/simplistic scent of the flower. The sambac goes to absolute waste in this composition, and the almost gourmand body spoils any white floral elegance that might be there. The synthetic comedown makes it all even worse. No longevity and a bit of suffocating sillage for 15 mins. One of my least favourite jasmines out there.

eeelllllleee

Amongst the market of popular floral and gourmand fragrances out today, the name "Jasmins Marzipane" probably does not evoke anything remotely unique or interesting—and indeed, this is a gorgeous jasmine bomb with confectionary accents of almond nougat. However, master perfumer Dominique Ropion manages to bring to vision a fragrance that is richly textured and gorgeous—the devil is in the details, so to speak.

The jasmine bouquet is composed of both sambac and grandiflorum genuses, blended together as an abstract jasmine in such a way that it smells like neither. The former is a tea-like white floral while the latter is indolic and narcotic; this mutant is honeyed, lush, but never veers too far in either direction. The nutty marzipan accord has a realistic whipped egg white texture in its slight sulphuric creaminess, which works with the cashmeran-sandalwood to add necessary dryness to the composition.

Many are complaining about longevity and sillage post-reformulation, and I can only speak about my experience with the current version. I will say that it still has pretty strong performance and lasts all day on me. 3 sprays was enough to fill an entire enclosed office space eliciting an allergic reaction to a colleague, following a stern email from a supervisor (oops!)—at the same time, it has garnered me compliments. So, make of that what you will.

Jasmins Marzipane Lancôme
(USD 150, 100 ml., 1 gold plate bottle, 22W202F - FIRST IMPRESSION)

Jasmins Marzipane by Lancome interprets this Jasmine in Woody-White Musk base.
Kinda the same ball park of ELDO - Don't get me wrong, YES I DO but that is Mugget in sweeten musky base.
This is slightingly similar to something I had smelled before but can't exactly pin-point.

Jasmins in Jasmins Marzipane is rather short-life as I last only 5-10 minute.
Before leaving the nuance and transiting to woody / almondy in Musky base territory.

Marzipane in this, not really photo realistic.
Marzipane tastes like Sugary Almond Powder, sandy.
But this is Nutty not really sweet. But I still personally classified this as Floral Gourmand.

Reminds me of Dior Poison (?), Pegasus by PDM but more Jasmins less metallic (?).
The scent is not as multi-dimensional as Rose Berberanza from the same house Lancôme
The scent is a bit flat but not thin.

A few test must assigned before scoring.
But as of now this is most ok to like tier for me.

Score 7/10

Classify : Unisex (leans Femme due to floral quality)

Further, the far dry down reminds me of Violet Blonde by TF. What is it?!?

Edit 1 : 27 November,

I think, this fragrance miss Heliotrope (this will be add the Almondy-Marzipan touch to the fragrance) but understandable, I think if they add it. Fragrance will be a bit too Powdery / Dense.

I think consistency of this fragrance just right blends between Jasmine / Almondy sweet wood touch.

My score remains the same (7/10)

You can get a 3.5oz bottle of this perfume for $170.at Neiman Marcus .com if u sign up for email alerts, they’ll send u a code for 15% off. Otherwise it’s $200 for the 3.4oz
It’s not discontinued at all. But this is the best price I’ve seen this one for.
You’re welcome

Zoffe

Not picking up the marzipan/almond at all, but just a huuuuuuge dose of jasmine.
Nice jasmine? Probably. If you're into jasmine.
Stupid of me to go straight on the skin when I know I don't usually like jasmine? Definitely.

Just so. much. jasmine.

Nikola24

I was very worry but I risked it and did blind buy it 😬 and have to tell you guys very successful blind buy 🥳🥳🥳 if you like Pure Poison by Dior you will love this one, there are not same but have similarities but Jasmins Marzipane is more elegant, soft, pure and clean, gentle 🤩it’s sooo beautiful I can’t stop sniffing my arm🥰 opening smell to me like freshly picked jasmin with musk behind ( little similar musk like from pure musc by Narsico Rodriguez ) which thankfully soften within few mins and it become more clean and soft smell which I would say is because of sandalwood, vanilla and cashmere wood. It’s absolutely beautiful blend and smell gorgeous and can be as signature scent. If you love jasmine just get it and won’t regret it 🥰

clairegram

Beautiful creamy perfume but really disappointing in terms of longevity and sillage.
I recently bought a bottle, it surely has been reformulated and it is really faint on the skin.

madelineandmore

This reminds me a lot of Savage Jasmin by Sana Jardin
Except SJ is a lot stronger
This is a little more innocent and fluffy
Gorgeous scent but I think I might prefer SJ as its more noticeable

ConcreteRose

If you love this discontinued gem, then try Armaf katarina light blue! It’s veeeery similar! Same kind of yummy cozy tasty vibes! KATARINA LIGHT BLUE IS A HIDDEN TREASURE! Lol

sundayinheaven

Jasmins Marzipane sounded like something right up my alley, but unfortunately it just smells like a nice shampoo to my nose. No almond, no vanilla, no musk. Just a plain jasmine scent. It’s nice, but nothing more. Definitely not worth the price tag imo.

Gatorsrules

I’m a Jasmine fan and that’s really all I get. I was so excited and it’s straight Jasmine with a hint of musk. It’s pretty, but not earth shattering or what I was expecting. Bottle is gorgeous tho!! If you like Jasmine it’s a safe blind buy.

Jezeleah

I would say this is my favourite fragrance of all time. I have 3 back up bottles because it seems that it is discontinued. Maison Lancome Grand Crus was the best line ever!!

Shellyscents

This is on harrods website fyi (as I'm typing this)

mmiloshevska

If anyone has a bottle they'd like to sell please reach out to me! It's unfortunately discontinued online :(

onebadbaby

Why do people believe this to be discontinued? Lancome still have it to order on their official websites!

Jezeleah

I wore this today and got 3 compliments in one day…so far. This is amazing for spring. This is in my top 5 for life! The sillage of this is amazing. One of my complimenters said she followed the trail down the hall to where I was. Too bad it’s discontinued. I bought pure poison as I thought it could be a more affordable version of this. No way! It doesn’t smell at all like this. Really boring and subdued. I sold it on. I also tested Jasmin Rouge, no, I don’t like that one either. I have 2 backup bottles, but I am distressed about the discontinuation of this gem!

Update:
Just received my third backup bottle. Prices are really high now, and getting higher everyday.

demhayerawsah

A lovely candied vanilla jasmine that lingers on throughout the day.

I did a blind buy and was initially nervous because I read many complaints about the reformulation. However, I have nothing but love for this fragrance whose depth increases as the day goes on and sinks deeper into your skin and on your clothes.

If you're looking for a dupe, try Montblanc's Legend Pour Femme - but know that it lacks the depth and elegance of Jasmines Marzipans.

I'm loving this perfume - it's a beauty in a beautiful bottle!

Catmo

Anybody selling a bottle please dm me! Doesn’t have to be full.

gretta

This is so pretty but so light. I heavily oversprayed and still - so thin. I find this similar to Dior's Jasmin des Anges and can somewhat see the comparisons to Pure Poison. I just wish this was thicker. It's beautiful.

Edit: @sailorV's review (below) is a spot-on review and now that I've worn Jasmins Marzipane for a full day, I agree with everything in that review. This does not lean gourmand. The dry almond note is amazing. The jasmine in this is light and beautiful. This is similar to Jasmin des Anges but without the apricot/peach note. Jasmin des Anges is gorgeous but I like JM better.

If anyone wants to sell their JM - especially the larger bottle, I will buy this from you! Please DM if in US.

EDIT: please sell me all the Jasmins Marzipanes, people! Who has some big bottles they don't want, because i definitely do!? Please DM and take all my monies!!

annasarahr121

Jasmins Marzipane is very, very pretty. I'm a huge jasmine fan (even stinky, indolic jasmine!), plus I love an almond note (loving it in LT Piver Heliotrope Blanc and the cherry-almond in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto, for example). But I'm just on the fence about whether I really need Jasmins Marzipane in my (quite large) collection (350 or so bottles...?). It actually reminds me a lot of Guess Seductive, which is also a very pretty scent that makes me happy in much the same way but for a fraction of the price (plus, I already own it); both perfumes deliver a similar effect -- cozy, sweet, pretty happiness. But, in order to pay more than about $80 a bottle, I have to be blown away by a perfume and, while lovely, Jasmins Marzipane is just not quite there. All that being said, if I found it for an amazing price -- less than $80 -- I'd definitely pick up a bottle because it's lovely.

SailorV

The first spray is so unassuming, at first I thought this was just another light white floral and while nice, one of the weaker links in the Maison Lancôme collection. Wrong. It's great, it's just a slow burn.
Jasmin Marzipane starts with a jasmine note somewhere inbetween natural and soapy, but leaning more into the clean direction. I think I smell some orange blossom and a light citrus note, too, and I definitely get the parallels to Dior Pure Poison. They don't smell exactly the same, but they give me the same vibe of icy, elegant white floral freshness.
The woods in the base are quite noticeable, too, especially the sandalwood - another thing in common with Pure Poison. Their warmth makes for a nice contrast to the hypnotic coolness of the florals and keep them from going screechy. I do smell something almondy, too, but it's a dry, woodsy leaning almond. Actually I think this is a bit of a misnomer, it doesn't smell like marzipan to me (which is fine, as I'm not a big fan of marzipan) and is not half as gourmand as the name suggests.

Even though it starts out shy, the scent becomes more wafty and intense after it has settled. It's not overwhelming at all and I can't imagine why anyone would feel offended by it, but it's not the harmless skin scent one might except at first.

Air of Grace

It looks like most of the reviews have touched on their interpretation of this gorgeous scent .

Got a sample cause it was mentioned it smelt similar to Pure Poison and Isles Lontaines which are my favourite perfumes .

I don’t see the similarities as I find this sharper, more animalic with the Jasmin sambac mixed in with the almond in the opening notes. It then settles to a softer, vanilla , nutty floral which I then adore .

I do get that at some point it reminded me of Van Cleef’s California Reverie with its honey note even though Jasmins Marzipane doesn’t have honey notes .

Saying that , this perfume is quite unique .
I will use up the sample but I’m not sure it worthy of a full bottle . Just the sharp opening notes ruin it for me and because it’s discontinued , it’s very hard to find .

Enrium

Jasmins Marzipane is aptly named - it is a sweet, almond-enhanced jasmine scent. It is extremely well-blended, made with high-quality ingredients and featuring a nice, clean jasmine note throughout. Dominique Ropion is a perfumer I particularly admire, and this is up there with his best creations. He seems to specialise in breathing new life into sweet white florals, and here is a prime example.

JM opens with clean jasmine from initial spray, initially slightly fresh, almost green-tinged, but it gets increasingly sweet as it develops. The vanilla is smooth, restrained and dry, not the syrupy vanillin that seems to be added liberally to every designer release these days. The almond adds a slightly gourmand edge, rounding out the vanilla-sweetened jasmine beautifully.

The jasmine outlasts the almond-vanilla accord, unusually for such notes. It remains clean, becoming increasingly powdery as it develops. A slight woodiness is present in the base, serving to showcase the jasmine. As it fades, it becomes a musky skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

An excellent sweet jasmine scent, JM places the flower centre stage. High-quality and utterly elegant, this is subtle, feminine glamour in a bottle. An transeasonal scent, ideal for everyday use if money allows. For jasmine lovers. 4.5/5.

zestybloom

This is an intimate scent it’s a beautiful jasmine not the kind that turns urine like, it is natural sweet not sugar, soft floral fresh with woods and musk, i picture a beautiful dressed women, casual white tee or dress you come in to greet her and she smells heavenly, instead of being knocked out by a strong scent it makes you want to get closer to enjoy the way she smells

Rajahuss

I got this perfume thinking I was going to get a sweet jasmine and almond fragrance. At first I was disappointed in this fragrance because I was expecting a sweet jasmine fragrance and all I smelled was woods! The magic is in the dry down and over spraying! Once I read the other peoples reviews I revisited the fragrance and went ham on the sprays lol then I fell in love. It’s a more sophisticated take on jasmine. But I get more of a bubble gum tuberose scent. It’s a very natural scent and it doesn’t project much and has a high oil content. You can tell it’s quality. I’m guessing the extra oil makes it less of a projector? Idk but I have to go HAM on the sprays to smell this. It good in hot weather for an outdoor occasion. It’s not obviously sweet on first take. It’s more acquired. I wear it to sleep because it’s so soft or on hot days. I suggest if your blind buying make sure it’s a good price or just get the 1ml because it’s NOT a safe blind buy!!

amyaz

A pretty but basic jasmine scent, poor longevity (between 1-2 hours on 3 sprays on my arm) and poor sillage (had to have nose to wrist to smell it).

strongerwithglue

This is a soft jasmine fragrance imo, I was hoping for something bolder. It's musky, a bit sweet, and a bit woody. It does smell nice.

brokesta911

Sotd: Jasmins Marzipane (2016) - jasmine almond - One of the most beautiful Jasmine perfumes I have smelled, created by #dominiqueropion . Here he does his signature floral overdose of Jasmine, but balances it out with Almonds, Sandalwood, and White musks. Might sound simple formula-wise, but showcases Jasmine in all its wonderful facets. Masterclass.

onebadbaby

It is a beautiful fragrance, natural jasmine, some woodyness, a touch of vanilla and a little greeness. Beautiful but incredibly subtle and delicate. It's great in the spring and subtle enough for daywear, it doesn't leave much of a trail and stays close to the skin. I don't think the current reformulation is potent like the original but it's still worth having.

MagdalenaM07

This is definitely one of the strongest and longest lasting fragrances I have ever tried. It lasts forever on fabric and projects like crazy! I really loved it this past winter but I’ve become more and more sensitive to fragrances and the last time I wore this it gave me a raging migraine. Not ready to sell it just yet- incase I get over this and get to enjoy it once more.

Amour, Michele

This initially disappointed me because of its sillage. It is so soft! But then I noticed that I’d get whiffs of it even after I thought it had died. It’s weirdly tenacious. The scent itself is wonderful. It’s the easiest, the most joyous jasmin I’ve ever smelled. I sprayed it to bed along with my pillow sprayed with Prada Infusion d’Iris. I felt like a precious princess enjoying her beauty sleep! Linen smelled clean with the Prada and I felt so wonderful and relaxed with this beautiful jasmin. I was almost sure I was going to sell this, but I definitely changed my mind. This is deceivingly unique. I did think it reminded me of Pure Poison but that one is more musky and a tad harsher. It reminded me of VCA California Reverie but it was not similar at all. I honestly don’t think I have something that gives me this comforted happy feeling. Keeper!

pansylady

I had high hopes for this one, based on notes, reviews, and the fact that it is one of Dominique Ropion's creations- but on me, this is sweetness overload...

mihaela_i

I like the clean, soapy jasmine, however the sandalwood/cashmeran part which becomes more noticeable later on smells a little harsh, screechy, to the point that it has a sour quality to it. Not at all what I expected, I knew it wasn’t a gourmand but still it’s too dry. Jasmin Rouge is much better.

Cree

This is a review for the two gold plated bottle.. When it comes to perfumes I like a strong, borderline offensive in both sillage and longevity. At first i thought a perfume named jasmines marzipan would be a light sweet floral gourmand and this is a sweet Gourmand but not so light. I’m a fan of this Lancôme line especially the bottles with two gold plates, just about all of them are a great example of the once undeniable excellence Lancôme use to be known for. But back to this one…I came here to share one outstanding thing I’ve noticed with this jasmines marzipane, this is one extremely long lasting perfume! It’s sweet, but warm and cozy..it can be used in so many different occasions, this is sexy but not a going out clubbing sexy… it will stick on your cloths even after you wash that clothing item. Once that clothing item gets warmed up with your body heat it will reactive this perfume so the staying power is out of this world! . I’m enjoying this very much, I didn’t think I would, I have the most impressive plush cloud of a sweet delicious jasmine desert hugging me and anyone that comes within arm’s length, well They want to snuggle up :)

Blue_Lilac

This really is a beautiful, romantic perfume. The marzipan notes (almond, vanilla) are pretty faint, but that doesn’t bother me. Sometimes I mix this with Hilde Soliani’s Orgasmo to give it an amaretto boost when I’m craving a gourmand jasmine. The problem I do have with this fragrance is that it does not last at all. I’m shocked by how intense the opening is…only to fade away on my skin in less than an hour and barely linger for much longer on my clothing. Very surprising for a jasmine scent. It’s very pretty, but not worth the price tag due to it’s performance issues.

LionsTigersBearsOhMy

Soapy jasmine wrapped in a well-loved cashmere sweater. On the mature side. I need to wait for the dry down before I can truly appreciate it.

JayCee758

Lovely indeed…

klrobe002

I like this! Its very light. Makes me think of high tea outside in a beautiful, asian garden. Its sunny, breezy, a little sweet, light and happy.

Siye

I am looking for an old bottle of this please (with two plates). Please let me know! Thanks!

Kon-nos91

Usually, for those they know me, my reviews are like 3 paragraphs, mini description/first contact-explanation of notes/feelings-conclusion/buying it or not. This time I will be quick and there's a reason. Lancome's special line is: a-ma-i-zing! Some of their creations, not all, are at least masterpieces, unique, perfect in quality, lasting power & sillage. What else a buyer or perfume addict needs?

I won't lie, Jasmins Marzipane didn't intrigued me enough. First time I smelled it was only because I love jasmin and almond note. The name was enough to give me high expectations. The sillage and lasting power are moderate but if you're a lover of white florals, this can't be missing from your collection. It's the cleanest jasmin I ever experienced. The one you wish to find when the indolic character of jasmin's essential oil dissapoints/scares you. JM is as sweet as a jasmin can be. Romantic, green, fresh, a bit yummy. It's very hard to find pure jasmin perfumes when most of the time it is combined with other white florals that steel the show (see: gardenia, honeysuckle, tuberose) but if I want to give you my point of view, if Jasmine Rouge from Tom Ford is the devil, JM is the angel. That says all.

lerikasierra

Lovely clean natural smelling jasmine, smells nothing like pure poison. Moderate in longevity and sillage.

My nose doesn’t agree with the dry down, it goes very dry on my skin and a bit screechy.

Looking for a UK swap or sale, I have a full bottle bought direct from the Lancôme website June 2021.

gardeniapetunia

Those 15 minutes are exquisite, I blew through my older travel bottle, have a newer big bottle bought last year and just bought another. I could try more new things if it weren't for that need for back ups!
I don't think it smells like Pure Poison, I had an original I swapped, just couldn't wear it but this, oh, pm me if you have a bottle to swap!
I also have Gelsomino Nobile, but while there are similar vibes, I have both, and back ups :-)

Happyme2009

I got the new version, where the bottle has only one gold plaque, not two. So my guess is that this is the reformulated version, since we are in 2021. Well, it starts with a blast of jasmine. Strong, opulent and gorgeous, with indolic tendencies, yet easy to love. It definitely smells natural and not synthetic at this time. Unfortunately it loses strength and oomph very fast. The gorgeous, pure and green jasmine mellows down, gets a hint of musky woody sweetness, and goes into a dry down which indeed resembles Pure Poison. It isn't as perfumey as that, but it's doesn't smell anymore like natural flowers either.
A hint of sweetness emerges, but by no means I can call this vanilla, almonds, sugar, or marzipan. I ate marzipan in my life, and it's very sweet thing made from almonds and sugar. If you are buying this thinking you'll get a gourmand Jasmine you are in for a nasty disappointment. There is no marzipan here.
But, if you want an exquisite Jasmine scent, which has quite poor lasting power, is mostly a skin scent, except the opening which is loud, you will love it. It's a keeper fro me. I would place this in the middle , between Aqua di Parma Gelosimo Nobile ( my favourite pure jasmine ) and Dior Pure Poison. If those two had a baby it would be Jasmine Marzipane.

LawmaLlama

It's a sharp jasmine bomb with some green-ness that lasts about 15 minutes. I think it has been reformulated. I am truly disappointed in the performance. Not worth keeping in my collection.

Rosemary14

Jasmine- yes, marzipan? Where? I’ve been wearing this 3 hours now and it’s a basic jasmine scent. I wish I smelled the creamy, nutty, sweetness of the almond. It’s a dry, woody, jasmine with zero sweetness. It’s not natural, not fresh. It’s as if they tried to remove all the great things about the flower. Let’s take out the freshness and sweetness of the flower. I’ve considered blind buying this before. So glad I didn’t.

debra0503

Not a big fan of Jasmine bomb, but this one works for me, it's blended so well with the vanilla sweetness and woody notes, really smooth texture
I had to get rid of Dior pure poison because that one turns super soapy on me, I wear both of them side by side, they are completely different scents.
this one is a like, but I will always keep it in my collection, it is very well-made

gandabear

Pretty, but a more synthetic jasmine than my beloved “grand bal” or “jasmin des anges”. I thought the Lancome private line would have a more naturalistic smelling floral than this. I wouldn’t go so far as some ppl have by saying it’s room freshener or toilet spray- but it has a synthetic sort of feel to it, so I understand where they’re coming from. If you want a great jasmine scent, just splurge on the two from the Dior private line. I’ll probably just keep this one to bring on holiday (cause I don’t wanna travel with my dior babies and risk breaking them)- but mainly wear the two dior ones cause they’re the best jasmine fragrances IMO

hsiangchi.huang

Simple. Refreshing. White Floral.

It's very likeable, but I would demand more "edge" given the price tag. It's a pretty scent, but kinda reminds me of toilet freshener...

I get a very sweet, but still natural smelling jasmine, that is sadly all too fleeting. I can still smell something if I bury my nose in my arm but this is a big disappointment performance wise. Won't be forking out for a large bottle. On me this is gone in a couple of hours.

IrinaRen

I respect the fact that everyone has a different nose and smell and taste however there is so many awful comments about this gorgeous perfume ! It is certainly does not smell of detergent ! I am absolutely in love with it ! Beautifully combined noted and not overpowering, considering it’s got very strong notes such a jasmine and vanilla. In my opinion beautifully balanced ! I definitely get almond notes or marzipan notes as you call them that are again beautifully combined ! If you like fresh, citrusy perfumes this one might not be for you. I receive so many compliments when I wear this perfume ! Elegance, luxury and sophistication that’s how I feel when I smell this perfume !

Mrs_McSnifferson

If angels had babies, their sweet little heads would smell like this. Fresh, cherubic, sophisticated , and of an entirely higher order than my mortal self. Some barely there elusively tangy something is making me feel like a peach tart is floating down from heaven, sprinkled with almonds, and it's for ME and it's gonna come to rest in my jasmine garden while I sit in my elegant white garden furniture and contemplate it serenely because it's too beautiful to eat. Fabulous.

violetbelle

This is a special floral, downright perfect in my eyes.
Imagine a softly nutty, warm, vanilla tinted jasmine with a clean soapy outline heated with musk. It's glowing, golden, but deep and knowing all at once. Like a tastefully dressed lady who you can't stop stealing looks at, even though she isn't showing anything. Who rounds the corner, only to surprise you by turning back to lift a brow in subtle acknowledgment of your attention.

For a more affordable option, if you want similar, try Catch Me by Cacharel. It's a bit more cashmere and lactonic feeling, but its almond and jasmine do satisfy.

CreamSunshine

Sampling this fragrance on my skin in 2021, I smell a sharp jasmine, slightly summery, mixed with a laundry detergent scent (yes, the detergent, not the dryer sheets). There seems to be debate in the comments as to whether this perfume was reformulated, but I’m inclined to believe the people who say it was. This modern batch I’ve sampled is, sadly, rather unremarkable. I never got to try the original version.

kati77

I didn' get marzipan as reviewers below. It is kind of dry scent to me. I had a decant of this beauty. Yet not for me.

Tropicat28

I think I have drank Jasmine Green tea one too many times on an empty stomach because Jasmines Marzipan along with Terracotta, both make me feel a little nauseous when first sprayed. Jasmines Marzipan is a beautiful clean Jasmine fragrance that reminds me of a slightly sweetened Jasmine Green tea except with out the green and with just a touch of almond milk, although I don’t find it to be latonic. I will make sure to eat something when I drink my tea and when I wear this fragrance. Lol. Sadly I think it has been discontinued.

Yllowstar7

I just bought myself a small bottle. I wasn’t willing to spend Such price tag on something I may not like... well now I am in the look out for a full bottle. I do not like white florals however Jasmin is the only white floral I adore. I think it has to do with memories of my childhood. As soon as I took the cap off all I got was the creaminess of almonds.. in this case ‘marzipan’ and I thought it was odd I could not smell Jasmin. I was def wrong! I sprayed this on my wrist and it is just beautiful. I few reviewers were pretty harsh saying this smells like laundry detergent. I’m going to assume this perfume did not agree with their skin chemistry and it is a shame! It is such a beautiful scent. The Jasmin is truest to its scent. I have a Jasmin plant in my garden and the composition is identical. And the sweet almond tones it down. The almond does not project nutty to me but more creamy.. think of almond butter. The sweetness is balanced by the freshness of Jasmin. It is not syrupy sweet. It is still pretty fresh on my skin so I will wait a few hours and see what happens. I think projection is also great considering I only spray perfumes on my wrists. I like to smell nice if someone is close to me and not from miles away.

I am not one to have a signature scent as my perfumes change depending on my mood but this may be one that I just can’t live without, however I cannot say this is perfume you can blind buy.. It is not your usually safe floral/ fruity perfume.

bintTapputi

Edit: bought it, it’s brilliant. The dry down is one of the most addicting smells I’ve ever come across. Sometimes I forget I sprayed it and smell something that startles me into consciousness and I am again floored repeatedly by how breathtaking and gorgeous I find this fragrance.

This is a gorgeous jasmine, everything I want from jasmine. Sharp, animalic, slightly musky, brutally white. This is absolutely going onto my must buy list. 9/10

PerfumedMelissa

A jasmine bomb. Must be a jasmine lover to love this. But 3 hours into this fragrance I get a deliciously sweet marzipan scent. This is the most aptly named perfume. Fbw for sure.

Joani_Cheddar

This is a hardcore Jasmine floral scent. You must like Jasmine and florals to appreciate this scent. Almond does not play a part in this fragrance - it is almond wood and probably used to make it a more creamier scent. It is pretty, it is floral, it is creamy and it does have a wood vibe.

gourmandnotes

I received my bottle today, in painful hopes that I was able to get the previous bottle design to match the rest of my 1st-2nd generation Maison Lancome collection. In actuality, I got the new bottles and to say "I Am Disappointed" is a tactful understatement. I get it when people accuse this fragrance of having that laundry detergent dryer sheets smell. For $200 with tax, I expect a lot more than a hunk of 3.4 oz of sickly, cloyingly sweet floral industrial jasmine, and the pièce de résistance to this massive disappointment is that it hardly, HARDLY contained any of the "marzipane" nor any gourmand notes coming through to make this scent remotely redemptive. I mean, the sheer insouciance to even half-label this Marzipane!! Dear Maison Lancome, I would rather you just discontinue and kill the entire 3rd generation of reformulations and cheap bottle redesigns if it means I could enjoy and remember you for what you were: Unapologetically French, Gourmand Elegance. Not something I would find in the dark and dank basement of my home atop a webbed shelf, next to a family-size gallon of Tide. Suffice to say, words cannot describe how severely, massively disappointed by Maison Lancome committing business suicide.

karrygardner1958

This is my favourite perfume ever and I have maybe upwards off 400 in my collection to go at.
A beautiful floral jasmine heavy scent with delicious marzipan undertones that make the jasmine in it even more powdery and the dry down is just exquisite- it lasts forever , open my wardrobe door and you will be enveloped in its cosy lushness . Yes, it’s expensive at £155 - ish for 100 ml but it’ not going to let you down . The sillage is respectable and you will get compliments when you hug someone - if you’re ever allowed to hug someone again. I’m never without this even if I have to buy it for myself as a Christmas present , every year rather than waiting for someone else to do so ......sunny and warm without being a too floral, floral . Turkish delight in liquid form.

xxdarkstarxx

This is such a beautifully well rounded sweeter jasmine scent. The almond wood gives this fragrance that creamy vibe. No I wouldn’t consider this a gourmand but just think of biting into a marzipan and feeling and tasting the texture, it’s suuuuper creamy and rich and decadent. This is definitely signature scent worthy.
Longevity on my skin is around 5 hours and projection is definitely there for about 2 hours and leaves a beautiful scent trail. It does leave a bit of an oily residue on my skin though.
The bottle though!!! The bottle though!! How stunning!!

milena.1

I own the old bottle of this, jasmin mix with wood and almond in drydown. Although beautiful, I prefer the more gourmand version. So if you have a old bottle of Jasmins Marzipane and want to trade for the new one hit me up. I'm in Canada.
Update - no longer available

nordhaul

Idk what these people are talking about
This smells AMAZING, and The recent
version! I smell Almonds, Vanilla, it is a
Marzipan bomb, with Jasmine The star.
Exquisite. Unfortunately, just not enough
Jasmin for me. I have enough gourmand
almond vanilla, and for Jasmin, Lush is for
me. But if you don’t, get this! SUBLIME!

Tuci

:( this is a jasmine bomb which makes me nauseous.. it smells cheap and I regret buying full size of it :( it reminds me old replica perfumes.. there is no woody or almondy notes just straight up basic jasmine.. I will try to layer it with heavy woody perfumes but eventually it needs to leave my collection..

perfumesniffer

Dominique Ropion how could you make something so basic?

Jasmins Marzipane has very little marzipan, in fact, I smell no almond or vanilla. This starts off juicy-fruity jasmine. Clean jasmine not indolic. Becomes much less fruity over the first 30 minutes turning straight up clean jasmine. After an hour becomes laundry detergent jasmine + clean musk. Others have compared it to Dior Pure Poison and I think Pure Poison is miles better. This smells pleasantly of clean freshie jasmine but not good at all for Ropion at these Lancôme prestige prices. Nope.

nativelocal

I must say, this scent grew on me tremendously. At first sniff earlier this year, I found it to be a bit indolic. I don't know if that's because I just wasn't super familiar with jasmine as a note or what. But after revisiting my sample countless times, I ended up getting a full bottle because I ended up loving it that much. This is a very clean, musky, almost soapy jasmine. Unfortunately, I don't get any almond or marzipan from this. It's gorgeous as it is, but I can't seem to find that almond note no matter how hard I try. I had a sample of Be Layered's Gelato laying around and decided to layer the two because Gelato smells like creamy, almond or pistachio gelato. The result is amazing! It adds a bit of extra sweetness, creaminess, and of course nuttiness to Jasmins Marzipane that I didn't get at all before. I actually ordered a bottle of Gelato specifically to layer with a different fragrance, but now I'm really excited to also be able to layer it with Jasmins Marzipane from time to time when I'm in the mood for some added sweetness.

Gia1913

I have been wearing it for over a year now. While my nose changes by the year and the season, this one stuck by me. I still love it so much and I can't help sniffing my arm all day long.

Owning the 2018-2020 bottles, I can perhaps put a light upon this reformulation issue. I personally think that the top note ( a bit offensive, laundry detergent smell) slowly dissipate with the years. My 2018 bottle goes quickly to the heart notes ( a beautiful mix of jasmine and sweet almond). On the other hand, my 2020 bottle maintains this sharp top note for an hour or two.

The longevity is still beast, regardless of which bottle. It can lasts days on fabric and can last a good 8 -10 hours on the skin.

Lancome has recently changed their bottles. It no longer has the pretty 2 gold plaques. It only has 1 plaque, with the flowers and the name of the perfume on one side.

Update: I just acquired a practically new 2016 bottle from someone, it's the same as my 2018, 2019 and 2020 bottles... I really don't understand why there is a reformulation rumour. Maybe the decant made the top notes go away and you only smell the heart notes? I'd still get my hands on a bottle anytime soon, with the rate that Lancôme discontinues their Maison Lancôme line....

Laniakea08

Slightly metallic jasmine opening. Dry. Laundry detergent. My husband said it reminds him of “Off” (the insect repellent) but “not in a bad way,” and I knew exactly what he meant. (It was accurate.) Back it went.

Coquita

This one got me a bit sad. The opening was gorgeous and promising: a sweet, creamy jasmine scent with an almondy twist. I was seriously considering splurging on it, but 30 mins later, the magic was gone, and all I got was cashmeran and vanilla. Give it an hour more, and all you'll get is faint musk, the clean laundry kind.
Overall, it's not a bad fragrance, and I guess that musk lovers will appreciate it. It's just that it's not what it advertises.

7/10 (just for the opening)

RottigrlNYC

What happened to this beautiful perfume. It used to last and project. Now it’s gone in half hour. I guess the greedy house of Lancôme reformulated it. Despicable. I will not be buying anything from Lancôme ever again

mirrorghost

i get jasmine and a soft musk with cashmeran. it's like fancy jasmine dryer sheets. i think the musk kind of takes over on me, and it becomes a sweet jasmine with a synthetic pale musk. something in this is giving me a headache. this one seemed so promising, but once again, these modern clean musks just don't want to work with my skin chemistry :/

richechka

Jasmines are women’s best friends :)

So sweet and tender, light and pure, as women’s nature.

Have you ever smelled a real jasmine trees in early spring? It’s captivating feeling, like a “drug” that keeps you, seduces you ...

“Jasmins Marzipane” is the best interpretation of jasmine. Best and even better than the real flower 🙌🏻 More sweet, more soft and less green.
I do not notice here neither almonds nor sandalwood or musk... these ingredients are just a shadow, a silent backstage when the real star is her majesty Jasmine 👑
My secret, my weapon, my spring in a bottle 🍀

Good luck and be inspired 💋

NightMusic

Until very recently, I went through a long period whereby I didn’t appreciate the beauty of this fragrance. It’s been a stressful time but this scent has instantly lifted my spirits. I think no more than two sprays is key or it becomes quite cloying. It’s a simple fragrance and it doesn’t develop much. But it’s just pure, nutty jasmine goodness. Slightly sweet but nothing like marzipan. Just perfect!

pepperoniann

This really has a similarity to the old Pure Poison (note, "old" aka white capped bottles), but less woody, more floral, and overall more green. I know Lancome lists "almond wood" as a note (you can see on the bottle) but really it's just sparkly green notes upon opening, and a hint of powder during drydown. The jasmine here is very clean, fresh, and softly surrounded by white musk. Slightly sweet. Overall a very pretty fragrance and one of the best "utility" jasmines around the block. I gotta admit even as I bought a bottle for splitting, I steal a spritz here and there as it's just a great "feel good" bright floral.

diaanz81

Out of the Maison Lancome line, Jasmins Marzipane and Tubereuses Castane were the ones I had reservations about because those are my least favorite floral notes. JM took me by surprise and I absolutely love it. The opening is nothing spectacular but the magic with this scent happens 15 - 20 minutes after it has been on my skin. It turns into this creamy, sweet yet fresh smelling Jasmine. The other notes are blended so well together and elevates the Jasmine into something I cannot get enough of. This by no means a gourmand but it does have elements of it because of the creamy sweetness from the almonds and vanilla. Longevity on my skin is about 8 hours and sillage is medium to soft. This has absolutely rocketed towards being one of my favorites from this line.

Edit: I disagree with reviews comparing JM with Pure Poison. Yes they share jasmine as a note but PP is fresh floral with an almost effervescent, uplifting quality while JM while still fresh is velvety and comforting. They are quite different in my opinion. JM reminds me a little of Versace Crystal Noir because of the velvety floral notes.

LuluBear

How peculiar. I tested this on a paper strip that my friend sprayed a little while ago and I could have sworn there was lemon or bergamot but on skin it's totally different. I smells like an expensive hotel lobby (in a good way). It's mainly jasmin with a hint of warmth rather than any distinguishable note rounding it out. It's not sharp or perfumey, it's soft and dare I say slightly sweet? but really only a hint it's still predominantly jasmin. I would say it stays pretty close to the skin but it's divine. If you're looking for something that projects like crazy this is not it, and because of that, I can see why some people would say it's not worth the price tag.

I'm more on the introverted side so this suits me really well. It smells clean without being sharp or overly soapy and it's an extremely well blended and pretty jasmin scent.

MissyJ

This isn't a heady Jasmine for me. I found Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge really heady and 'old lady' smelling. The Jasmine here is really lovely.Reminds me more of the flower scent wafting through the window. The Jasmine does settle down after the opening and its a soft floral sweet. Would like to re-try in warm weather as I've only tried in cooler weather.

bel.gravia

An absolutely beautiful jasmine :)
Not indolic at all, not dirty, light, bright, luminous.

EternityFresh

I bought this beautiful perfume at Macy's on my trip to NYC. What can I say that hasn't been said, except that it is the most sweet and delicate jasmine. Everytime I wear it, I have great memories of my trip.

ladypicky

If you like this perfume,it can be very addictive.
I love it.

To my nose :
It's a scent of beautiful rounded Jasmin flowers floating in Almond milk and the softest hint of Musk and sandlawood. It is not sweet ,It's milky.

I love Vert Malachite Armani Prive' and Jasmin Marzipan could be the shy and quiet cousin of Vert Malachite. It has the same but toned down Jasmin-Miky vibe.
And also same vibe as her sister Lavandes Trianon from the same line of Maison Lancome.

I already went through a whole bottle and I would buy more.

This is not a loud or sexy scent.
But it's rather a comforting and calming scent.

It sits very nice on my skin, and very long lasting, mild projection but I can smell it on myself even after 8 hours and someone beside me can smell it too without being annoyed .

Allisonmsmith22

Like many have said, the name is deceiving. Jasmins Marzipan turns out to be a heady heady jasmine and not a whole lot else. I love jasmine but this is just not what I was looking for. Gave me headache and I had to wash it off.

dsty

To me, Jasmins Marzipane was rather a disappointment. It's a nice scent, but the name and marketing made me expect a gorgeous, lavish floral gourmand, which is a category I love...and instead I just got a good but rather tame jasmine. To my nose there's no almone here at all, let alone marzipan: just a soft, creamy, pretty jasmine that doesn't even project very well or last very long. It's true that it's slightly sweetened, but it takes a real stretch of the imagination to experience that sweetness as "marzipan". I still like it, but I think it's outrageously badly named and really disappointing to my personal taste because of it. To be honest it's been the same for most of this line: my expections were sky high, but only the Roses really delivered those delicious, spectacularly indulgent but still wearable gourmand florals I was hoping for. Too bad, but good news for my wallet at least!

buscheaux

Jasmins Marzipane is an elegant yet very wearable perfume. Fresh realistic jasmine with a gentle muskiness and a touch of almond. The aromas of sandalwood and vanilla weaving in and out as the fragrance develops are vaguely reminiscent of Samsara by Guerlain. Jasmins Marzipane is a versatile, well blended fragrance that lasts for hours on the skin. It's a comforting scent in many ways, like being wrapped in a warm hug. Love it more every time I wear it.

pinoemma

The name of this says it all - jasmine and almond. Although I feel like 'marzipane' might be a little misleading as it might get you thinking of sweet almond. I don't consider this a gourmand at all, it's more of a fresh jasmine with a very authentic but soft almond note to round it out and take the edge off of the sharpness. A very feminine scent that smells lika a woman who gets things done. Very professional but not bossy. I'm a jasmine lover but if you're not, I don't recommend blind buying this.

ranchorita

Jasmine is a hard-sell for me, usually, as it can be so cloying. In Jasmins Marzipane, however, the intensity of the jasmine is calmed considerably by the persistent accord of almond. This is an elegant, ladylike fragrance that I want in full bottle form. It has a beautiful, persistent presence without bombast. I absolutely love it. I agree that it's a pretty choice for the coolness of spring to the balmy nights of summer. This is a marvelous blend. *love*

Kots_Tanya

I love this Jasmine Fragrance so much that i purchased a back up bottle since im more that half way down. Longevity is not the greatest but the scent is so gorgeous and feminine. No sharp Jasmine here, its softened with Marzipane. Its just gorgeous and i have not smelled anything like it. This will always be in my collection. Gorgeous all year around but specifically in spring and summer evenings are absolutely at its best.

Margarita Birda

It is straight up Jasmin! Pretty linear but feminine without it being too sweet. I wish the marzipan and vanilla notes would be more noticeable! It would have been a masterpiece. Longevity is over the top! All in all a very high quality expensive feminine Jasmin! VERY SIMILAR to Dior Pure Poison.

Swedelish

I want to love this and I thought I did! My first sample was beautiful- lush, clean jasmine, bitter green almond, some Musk and woods. It was soft but of great quality. My current sample smells essentially how I remember, except one thing; cigarette ashes. It's not that I inherently hate the smell of cigarettes. There are several frags with an underlying whiff which I thoroughly enjoy. But here it's different. It's how I remember JM to be but with an overly used ashtray next to it. Also a seemingly screechier jasmine. I don't know what's going on here. Maybe the below reviewer is right and my sample is from 2018 or later. In any case I'm no longer inclined to buy a bottle. I've kept my eyes peeled for a reasonably priced second hand one, but I think now I will stop the pursuit. Sad.

KingTut

Guys listen up. Very feminine.
Very very feminine
It was reformulated in 2018
So2016-2017 are excellent.
2018-2019 are your TJ Maxx jasmine $10 frags.
Not worth the price imo and there are tons of better jasmins out there.

disintigratedwoman

I was so happy when I found out my local Nordstrom carried a tester of this! Made myself a small sample and tried it on my skin tonight.

Not a huge jasmine fan personally but wow, this is stunning. Rich, exotic jasmine warmed up with almond for a sweet, slightly edible twist on what would otherwise be a very soapy scent.

It smells like luxury.. the sillage I get it from it slightly reminds me of an expensive sunscreen I used while in Italy a few years back.

I can imagine it making a perfect signature fragrance for a beautiful, sophisticated woman with tanned skin, who wears dresses each day and bears just the right amount of skin that straddles the line between classy and sexy.

Not sure I’ll be buying this as jasmine isn’t very “me” but I’ll hold onto my sample dearly so I can keep sniffing this amazing scent.

Wednesdaychild41

A very clean pretty and warm jasmine. I wish it had more of that Almond to really give it its Marzipan promise.

Also, maybe its just me, but the new YSL Libre smells very similar. A warming almond white floral vibe.

Jessicaeh

This is very lovely and I initially shuddered at the thought of having a quick smell - jasmine and almonds are not in my fragrance radar - but how wrong! Each time I pass by the counter when shopping I spray this, I even try to remember not to put any lotion or other fragrance on before heading out the door. The bottles are big and I feel this is an event or evening out type of fragrance (for me) which stops me from buying such a large bottle but I really do love this scent.

neonaya

Pleasant and safe perfume with white floral notes. Didn't notice any vanilla or any other sweet notes that could make this perfume softer. It sounds like fresh jasmine soap on me - good but nothing fancy. Lasts approximately 3 hours then becomes almost undetectable. My husband said that I smell like an old rich grandma when I use it :(

rosebyanothername

I really like this - for the half hour I can detect it on my skin. I wish it lasted longer on me, because it is beautiful.

morkant

I only ordered this because of its amazing review in The Guide (I happen to agree with the 5 star reviews about 90% of the time), and I actually wasn't very excited about it, I admit I find jasmine to be one of the less exciting "big flowers" of perfumery, but good reviews kept trickling in, including @Hedward's, whose taste I trust, So I finally bought it.
After 10 mins of having Jasmins Marzipane on my arm, I came to the following realization: Either every other jasmine scent I've smelled was badly made/ of poor quality, or Jasmins Marzipane is somehow not REALLY a jasmine-led scent, but rather a kind of recreation of jasmine achieved with a variety of unknown notes. (The second option is not denying there's jasmine in here, there certainly is). I honestly don't know. My second theory isn't so far fetched, perfumers often admit to (boast about?) creating rose scents with no actual rose, for example.
I guess what makes Jasmins Marzipane special for me is that for the first time I can detect and enjoy all the natural notes supposedly found in jasmine, where before I would just get hit over the head with "jasmine" and that was that. I sniff this and am met with a lively procession of lemon, strawberry, concord grape, nectarine, banana, peach pits...
This jasmine isnt cheap and sultry, its composed and alert and intelligent. The woody base is also no joke, the perfectly bitter almond/wood accord is perfection.

Longevity is excellent, sillage excellent 10/10, this is THE final word on jasmine, and in the top 5 best ever woody florals ever.

flawnt

This perfume is climbing up in my collection to be one of my favorite. This is a fragrance for a pretty, feminine, sophisticated woman. If you do not like a strong, soapy jasmine scent (or are someone who gets a headache from strong white florals) then you absolutely will not like this perfume, because it is very jasmine forward. The jasmine is warmed and tempered slightly by that almond note. Despite marzipan being in the name, I would say that this is not a gourmand fragrance to my nose. It's jasmine and musk and the vanilla is just there to warm it up.

I would say the perfume definitely leans much more musky-watery-white floral than a sweet-gourmand-white floral. This is a fragrance that makes me feel like I can take on the day.

Scent: 9/10
Longevity: 9/10
Overall: 9/10

Autumn wind floral ★★★★★

Jasmins Marzipane was the last 5 star fragrance from Luca Turin's and Tania Sanchez's guide that I had left to sample. Their guide has been very valuable in navigating the endless sea of niche and for the most part I agree with their judgment. My best discoveries so far with their book have been Alaïa and Fate Woman, which are not only the best things I’ve ever laid my nose on but also both 5 star worthy according to the guide. Now, among the other five-star beasts like Korrigan, Club Design or MEM, Jasmins Marzipane is deceptively simple and easy to get along with. After some investigation, wearing and sampling, I must admit Luca and Tania are right once again – JM is indeed a stunning perfume.

To create an abstract floral this believable must be a mountainous task. Gabrielle tried it but failed miserably and ended up cold and shrill, Alien was a lesson in radiance and an exploration in feminine woody-ambers but lacked in emotional depth and elegance. I even sampled Pure Poison simultaneously and compared to Jasmins Marzipane it screamed like a banshee. The usual dilemma I encounter with white florals is that they’re either too natural indolic (Lush Lust) or too chemical (any Michael Kors abomination) to the point it’s impossible to avoid reference to sun lotions or cheap massage oils. In the middle of these two extremes, Jasmins Marzipane cuts through with surgical precision and sits perfectly between familiar naturalness and radiance of aromachemicals. The floral section feels natural, fresh and slightly sour even, but it is anchored by a generous dose of synthetic cashmeran that lends a spicy woody-amber character and provides most of the sillage just as it did in Ropion’s Alien aswell. JM avoids all shrillness, distortion or unnecessary loudness and fills the air with such understated elegance that it’s impossible to find anything dislikeable about it. A powerful, long-lasting white floral that smells balanced, luxurious, airy and beautiful from first spray to the last hours of the drydown? Surprisingly rare breed if you ask me. To top it all, JM avoids all usual cheap feminine vanilla or berry syrup clichés and smells confidently womanly with just enough sweetness from the tiny, tiny dose of almonds. I wore it to work and got three compliments on that single day. Show this to anyone who claims to hate white florals and prove them wrong. For fragrance aficionados, sample Jasmins Marzipane with other abstract white florals and witness its superior beauty which rivals even the legends of Pleasures and J’Adore.

Simply gorgeous - its a while since I've craved such a pretty fragrance but having read the newest version of Luca Turin, I knew I had to have this - and I was right.

Although I was a huge fan of Ysatis when "big" fragrances were all the rage , it wasn't polite and it wasn't the kind of perfume you can take anywhere - it entered the room a good 30 seconds before the shoulder pads did - now its been notched down into something much gentler and much prettier - contrary to other people's findings , I find this lasts a long time on me , but then, I favour spraying clothes rather than skin, sillage isn't huge but then, who wants that kind of things these days ? Not me anymore - I'm confident enough now to wear perfume not to let it wear me .

My only regret is that at £155 for 100 ml , it's going to be used for special days rather than every day .

I definitely prefer it to my beloved Chanel Exclusifs and I never thought I'd say that but it makes those frags seem all awkward angles and unfulfilled promises.

I'd say this one is going to be a rarity for me - a fragrance a re-purchase like Peau Santal, En Avion , Number 5 and Rive Gauche - I can honestly say not even Amouage Gold has ever made me want to buy it twice .
Lovely .

allisonnoel

This perfume has grown to be one of my favorites. I ordered a 30 ml when I was very new to perfume in the winter, knowing I like jasmine. Upon first spray I loved the jasmine but sitting inside the smell quickly became too much and the jasmine seemed overpowered by the almond note. I put it away in my drawer for a long time, although I would occasionally give it a confused sniff. In the spring I tried it again, however, and was truly surprised. It is much sweeter, the jasmine comes through a lot more for me and sometimes I even get a fake grape smell which I enjoy. I have been complimented on this fragrance as well in the warmer seasons. I would definitely suggest this for 50-75 degree temperatures but nothing much colder or hotter(fades on me quickly in too high of heat). Oh, and the sprayer in this beautiful bottle is lovely and puts out a very fine mist, which I love.

ptilda

This is quite a nice jasmine scent. The almond and vanilla are fairly light, and in the drydown, it leans just a touch muddy, as in it tends more towards a generic floral. I feel that the sweet and the floral are combining in a way that just doesn't allow them to retain their unique characteristics. At this point, I wouldn't be able to identify jasmine OR almond specifically in this scent.

But that bottle is a thing of beauty!

BTW, I sampled from a spray sample.

Wendy.Kroy

@Wednesdaychild41

Maybe you should also try Girl of Now also by E. Saab, which has a more pronounced almond note, since you like almond. I tested it when it launched and remember it as being more gourmand than Eau Couture.

Wednesdaychild41

Wendy.Kroy

Thanks so much for letting me know. I think the Ellie Saab sounds more preferable. I love a good almond note!!!

To me, they're not. I own both and I find the Lancome more floral, I don't really get anything gourmand from it. The Eau Couture has a slightly more "foody" aspect, like pistachio. And both are beautiful and worth owning. :-D

Wednesdaychild41

Hello all,

This is a question, not a review. Does this perfume have any resemblance to Ellie Saab L'eau couture? It has very similar notes, and I don't want to buy both if similar.

ES L'eau couture has orange blossom, green almond and vanilla. All very reminiscent of Jasmin Marzipan.

Thanks

Ceruleanpeaks

Not what I expected, still nice but unfortunately turned metallic on my skin after some time. If I apply lightly on my wrists, it still works but not as sweet as I wanted.

JM is one of my most favorite perfumes in my collection. Smells amazingly clean, floral and soft. I can't compare it to any other fragrance. Def unique and worth the money. Forever Fav.

it is not difficult to describe this scent like so many did here rightley in my opinion, but what amazes me so much is that i have no problem with longevity and projections of scents/perfumes, as much i have with this one. This is gourmand jasmine perfume, done in a way like jasmine is coming from Madame Tussauds museum, its so plasticky, oily rich , lush and feminine. But like many said its close to the skin scent but at the same time reporting its longevity to be 8+ hours?? i have never had such perfume lol, this one really struggles with longevity and projection to justify its existence, or i am very anosmic to muscs in it....so far i have never meat such perfume. Jasmine is fleeting kind of scent so i understand this...but unfortunately the loveliness of this scent is falling bitterly on its performance. :(
p.s. this is a delicate beast..if sprayed on cloth stays for days but never loud. its intovert...lovely jasmin of best quality...but i prefer old Samsara to this one

lunarambrosia

Soapy jasmine with some almond to soften the lines. A strange and unexpected (to me) combination that just works. The jasmine is cold, the almond warm. Likely best for Spring.

Wow! This scent surprised me!

Along with Parfait de Roses from the Maison Lancome line, i feel like this scent is incorrectly named.

When i think "marzipan" i think sweet/gourmand. This fragrance has a HINT of sweetness, but is a mostly clean crisp jasmine with some almond.

Now that its winter for me where i live, i won't be wearing this scent until spring/summer which i think it is perfect for! I think the warmth will bring out the jasmine and the clean and crisp edge to it will be brightened by the warm air.

The more that i wear it the more i like it. At first when i smelled it i was unsure if i did, but like i said the high heat summer months you want something clean and airy and this is perfect for that. I really don't think this scent fits for fall/winter. Thats just me.

This scent is very, very unique and is very beautiful! Super long lasting and heavy sillage on my skin!

8/10 fragrance!

This Maison Lancome range showcases lovely solid rectangular bottles prettily designed and nice to hold, appropriately reflecting the contents within.
If you’re turned off by indolic jasmine, then beware of the opening. However, a few minutes in, it’s jasmine all the way...hugely floral and with an undertone of bitter almond.
I don’t know what I expected. The name evoked a garden kitchen late in spring, warm and redolent with a blooming vine whilst the sweetness of baking almond cookies intoxicates the air. I didn’t quite get that, I have worn it twice...low projection and pretty much a skin scent although it lasts around 5 hours. It’s not the sort of fragrance that surprises you throughout the day when you catch a whiff of it on your arm...you have to go looking for this one. If you’re a gourmand lover, it may not be enough to satisfy you.
I’m a habitual blind buyer, however, I would recommend that if the price is a turn off, you should attempt to try it first.

Fine, fine fragrance. Soft, yet enduring. Jasmine takes the cake so it was a matter of wearing multiple times to get past what seemed like a simple sweet jasmine scent and to better understand what it was meant to accomplish. Although it's called Jasmins Marzipane, the almond accord used in here is not a fluffy, sweet marzipane. It's a green almond leaning bitter, much like that found in Elie Saab Le Parfum L'Eau Couture. If you're expecting JM to deliver on the promise of its name you may be disappointed to discover it is not a gourmand jasmine. It's an understated beautiful floral. Softly sweet, smooth refined, hinting at almond in its unripe form, but never fully going there,. Well worth the buy for quality alone if you are a fan of jasmine fragrances. Or bitter green almond. Or vanilla, cause there's plenty of that in here too. All of this sits on a soft, pillowy cloud of fine woods and musk. Projection is average the first several hours then becomes a personal scent. Longevity is outstanding, going 12+ hours on me before becoming a true skin scent. Simply stunning.

I blind bought this perfume during Black Friday off Neiman Marcus website with a bunch of other Lancome perfumes. I read Fragrantica reviews of almond/Marzipane in it and had to buy it.

This perfume lasted barely 4 hours on my skin but projected for first hour 6 feet leaving a nice scent trail. Unfortunately zero almond/Marzipane or vanilla or woods shows up on my skin I only smell Jasmin and light musk. I like the scent but had a slight headache until it faded (that usually happens with musk which is why I avoid it.)

I am relieved I only bought a travel size of this perfume. I will try layering it with another almond perfume until I use up that scent. This was worth trying but I do not recommend blind buying it like I did.

Oh wow, I didn't realize that this pretty little flower is created by Mr. Ropion...
Now that i know it, it makes me loves the fragrance even more.

This Jasmin scent, much like Carnal Flower, and Portrait of a Lady is perfectly blended. The jasmin is the main player right from the start, and it's a bit creamy due to the vanilla. It's sweet though a bit bitter, never cloying, moderate projection, but stays all day.

It really was a love at the first smell. I bought it in Amsterdam, and i dont think ive ever found this perfume elsewhere (i havent check online sellers though). So, im really glad that i have it.

This beauty was a love at first sniff for me but it definitely took a few wears to fully understand it and appreciate it.

I figured by the name it would be sweeter and more gourmand but on first spray it was a white soft clean jasmine that sometimes felt quite dry to my nose, fading into a soft jasmine sandalwood after several hours.

The second time I wore it I actually smelled the vanilla and cashmere alongside the jasmine and it really made this feel warm and cozy. Oh my goodness did I incessantly bring my wrists to my nose! Bliss!

My third wear happened to be a particularly warm day and this time a soft citrus note sprang up out of thin air and stayed with me the entire wear! It really kept it bright and wearable while it was warm out. I find that really encouraging because it says 75-ish [farenheit] or warmer most of the year where I live.

Every time I wear it there is always a beautiful lasting jasmine and a subtle softness and sweetness, but it is not what I'd consider sickly sweet or food-y.

I hope to try out more of the Maison Lancome line, but 2 for 2, I've fallen for Jasmins Marzipane and Parfait de Roses.

If you already have Bvlgari Jasmin Noir, be very careful, don’t just blind-buy this. They are extremely similar, maybe 90% similar but Jasmins Marzipane is sweeter, softer, and better blended. It does not have the rough and bitter edge of Jasmin Noir. If these were both cars, JN wouldbe the stripped down base model and JM would be the one with all the luxury upgrades, all-wheel drive, moon-roof, butt-massager, everything.

If you have the $ choose this over BJN for sure. If you don’t have the money, don’t even smell it because you might feel disappointed with your BJN forever after, which is my perdicament right now.

I may have prematurely written off the Maison Lancome line of perfume in a previous review, but that’s because I had not sampled Jasmins Marzipane.

On me, this sweet jasmine - reminding me of tuberose in this mix - smells triopical and has pretty good longevity. Unlike others from this line, I don’t pick up anything overtly synthetic. It’s very warm and easy to wear, though fleeting. The retail $190 price tag for 100ml is steep, if it was considerably less I would consider owning it.

Edit: broke down and bought a .47 oz
This is LOVELY. I am transported onto a tropical climate in the dead of winter,

Violinplayah

I’m not sure about jasmine or marzipan, but this is a very bright and fresh plumeria to my nose. Simple, uncomplicated, clean and likable.

katrinawhitney

I have to say that this is undeniably beautiful. Like, right off the bat when I sprayed and smelled for the first time, it was an instant "wow." However, it is so so so fleeting and soft. Like I feel like if I could take this scent, which projection wise is sitting at a 2, and turn it up to a 9, it would probably be a masterpiece. I would say, definitely get a sample, however I don't know if it's worth it to have a full bottle since it's literally a whisper ---- unless that's your thing (I need mine to yell a little).

Gorgeous bottle, of course.

stopandsmellflowers

The first second of the spray is very leafy. Just after that, if sprayed on paper, I smell JASMINE and nothing but. The jasmine is incredible and strong and smells like the most glamorous older woman. On paper, there are only hints of the other notes, shaping the jasmine. On my skin, after the initial burst of leafy scent, it becomes a very demure, sweet jasmine.

On my skin, over time, the jasmine slowly fades to the background and you can only smell sweet almond, musk, and sandalwoody notes closest to my skin. It's very quiet and soft, but it smells expensive and elegant. It's almost like your skin just smells good. Not quite edibly delicious, but sweet (but not saccharine!) and floral at the same time. Sprayed conservatively, I could see this being office-appropriate on the right person.

I started out disappointed with this scent because the other from the Maison Lancome line that I had tried first, L'Autre Oud and Roses Berberanza, were so much stronger smelling. But then as time went by, I found myself happily catching whiffs of the scent, then just sitting and smelling my wrist. That, to me, is the signature of a Maison Lancome scent. Later on, when you aren't thinking about it, you still can't get enough of that lovely scent in the air.

This almost oil-based perfume is everlasting! Though the sillage could be better.

OMG! this is sooooo gorgeous! Thank-you Mr. Ropion for giving us this gourmand jasmine fragrance.
I am really impressed with this line by Lancome. It is a luxury line that can hold its own against the Chanel Exclusives and the Dior Privee collection.
I had my eye (nose?) on this baby for almost a year. Took the plunge and bought a bottle whilst in Florida on vacation over Christmas. Now I can't stop wearing it! I reach for it every day, which is saying something as I tend to constantly switch up the scent of the day as my mood changes.
This one is a floral gourmand that is luxurious and garners compliments. It performs amazingly lasting up to 7 hours on my skin. It is clean but cuddly and while others have said it is not office-appropriate, I could not disagree more! Quality ++++
This smells like nothing in my collection. So glad I bought it!

I didn't get much bitter or powdery almond in Jasmins Marzipane. The fragarnce is all about jasmine during the first 3 hours, and a very pretty one at that. The jasmine here is more full-bodied than those primarily relying on the green radiancy of Hedione, sweeter and with a noticeable indolic twang. But compared to Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge and Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Jardin Blanc, it's tamer and has a less complexe olfactory profile.

The initial indolic and green nuances soon disappear after about 1 hour. The sweet floralcy of jasmine also becomes more and more nebulous with time. During the 4th and 5th hours, the fragrance sometimes smells very softy of caramelised wild strawberry, probably because the cashmeran becomes more noticeable at this stage, which I perceive as having an abstract berry and woody smell among other things. But ultimately, Jasmins Marzipane would resolve into a clean white musk infused with the vague sweet floracy of jasmine. The vanilla is never explicit on my skin to evoke a truly gourmand caracter, but serves to provide a smooth playground for the dainty jasmine.

Jasmins Marzipane has a moderate to soft sillage, and lasts about 8 hours on my skin.

Although the smell of Jasmins Marzipane didn't inspire the same awe as its splendid bottle to me, it's pretty charming and easy on the nose, and adheres to the conventional feminine beauty quite well. It's probably not the most innovative, interesting or realistic jasmine fragrances that I tried so far, but it does smells more natural and more sophisticated than a few mainstream offerings. I would recommend it as an easy-going everyday fragrance to jasmine lovers, or to those who are venturing into jasmine fragrances but are still unsure about how much indole one can handle.

First sniff: Pure Poison is this you?
This impersonation only lasts for a few moments though, before jasmine takes over. It is my favourite variety of jasmine in perfumes, identical to Van Cleef’s California Reverie. After about 10 minutes or so Jasmins Marzipane starts to remind me of Tom Ford’s Jasmin Rouge in a way, always mixed with the smell of California Reverie.
I couldn’t smell any particular almond, marzipan or excessive sweetness.
Overall, a beautiful, non gourmand jasmine, despite its very edible sounding name . Average sillage and longevity.
I am contemplating a full bottle, but it is so similar to California Reverie, which I own. If it ever reaches discounters though (like Lancome’s Oud Bouquet) I will definitely go for it

Miss_Vanity

This smells like the love child of Dior Pure Poison and Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia, both of which I am a big fan of. So innocent, sweet and delicate! A great composition reflecting niche quality that sadly will never reach my boudoir as the 50ml bottle costs about 150 euros in Greece!

Q80

An interesting take of a gourmand jasmine blend. Although the jasmines in here are quite strong but the doses of almonds and soft sweet notes are quite perfect, it balances the blend quite well and gives the impression of a hazy marzipan as it comes back and forth mixing between rancidity and gourmand.

Later, it goes white floral and less sweet gourmand. interesting.

shushkin

I get lots of jasmin and almond on the opening. The almond is so strong it almost smells like cyanide but I suspect its the combination of the almond and cashmere wood! I dont get that much vanilla on the opening but it becomes much more present after 15 minutes or so. The sweetness becomes evident after a short while but again it is not that sweet. I would not describe this as a gourmand.
I like this fragrance the most after half an hour when it becomes a delicate jasmin, almond and cashmere wood beauty. Not bad longevity but the sillage was not good on my skin.

KitKat

Jasmine at it's best. Soft and slightly sweet. I honestly wish this is sweeter and on me I can barely smell any vanilla. Classy and smells expensive. Incredible longevity 10+ hours but close to skin. Warm and feminine. And the bottle is work of art. Ropion is true genius. I did test this once before buying but I could have easily bought it without trying - jasmine, musk, vanilla and made by Ropion is a winner for me.

Marie_Anne

Oh, dear! This is awful:((( I tried in in Florence in dep store on my hand and neck and could not get back home soon enough to scratch it off. I have to give it that that it lasts. Unfortunately. On me (I am very light skin reddish hair type) it is sickly sweet and somehow suffocating. No flowers at all, almond only in the beginning - all of it is musk and vanilla in the worst possible way. Sorry for giving such a bad review...

genny17

Oh this smells great!! Definitely a niche quality in this beautiful scent! The Jasmine dominates but in a creamy golden way, nothing sharp here, The woodsy notes are very soft, The almond brings its natural sweetness, and the warm but not overly sweet vanilla pops up discreetly in the base. Longevity is good, and the scent opens up and warms up nicely on the skin..this is a feminine grown up scent, and frankly, why it is marketed for men also I don't get..!? Must be that gender bender political correctness that doesn't make any sense when applied to such a feminine soft floral creation .all rounded , nohing harsh or dry here.
Anyways love it!! The quality of this perfume, its warm rich yet soft aura! Niche quality definitely.
Update: not sure it is worthy of the high price,.,pretty scent, but projection is a bit soft..
