Very nice vanilla scent. Very close to Billie Ellish

Zombie Apocalypse

This is a very strange perfume to me. 99.99% of bottle seems to be just alcohol and .01% their secret blended fragrance. I love their concept, their bottles their colours and story. But the actual product needs work. This is almost a non existent scent. You can hardly smell it and it lasts 5-10 minutes.

leaves.n.rain

Simplistic, sweet vanilla. Definitely smells synthetic, but it's not off-putting, particularly because the new hair/body mist is really fine and has very little projection. Sits very close to the skin and just makes you smell vaguely sweet, not like you're wearing perfume. Worth the $13 to me.

limbobitch

I'll go rabid if they really discontinued this ....

boringstella

i wanted to love this but it literally smells like pickled beets on me

17/03/24: Reviews on the PACIFICA website for the reinvented version are saying that they have butchered the beautiful original! Pretty much everyone hates it & wants the original to come back! My review of the original is below.
----------------------------------------------

I ordered the hair & body mist first as it was cheaper than the edt for a blind buy. I find the mist very strong! If anything, too strong & synthetic! Can smell it all day in my hair & on clothes!

I went on to order the edt & I MUCH prefer it! My goodness, it's beautiful!

It's light but very present. I can pick out all of the notes, they're all there & beautifully done. It really is a honeyed, floral vanilla but not at all sickly or headache inducing.

Lasts for hours on my skin & clothes. You'll know it's there, those close enough to you & maybe even hug you will love it because you'll be fragrantly delightful without choking them!

I've stocked up on this version. I'm dreading the reinvented one for this year 2024. But also quietly excited in case it's even more gorgeous! 😉🙏🏻

The initial burst smells a lot like cloud, but it goes away very fast. After it’s a scrumptious sweet vanilla. It’s so delicious, but has no longevity. It’s gone after 30 minutes.

Bondno9girl

Now discontinued and they redid all their perfumes. The notes are different on the new perfume that is replacing this. I scored a bottle on amazon for a super good price before they all sold out. Now the prices are sky high. I have the body cream(older formulation) body wash, fragrance mist, perfume and body scrub. I will enjoy these items while they last. I have a feeling the new vanilla is not going to live up to the scent of this one and a lot of people are going to be mad.

Edit: the new vanilla version they made smells 95% like the older version, we are safe.

girldeadbug

I loved the smell of this stuff for a one-note sweet vanilla scent. Unfortunately the grain alcohol they use ruins it for me. It just has this particular odor that I grew to hate. Now I can’t stand to spray the stuff. I can’t even describe it, it’s just like, gross and ruins the yummy vanilla they’ve come up with.

FrostedNightshade

This is a very light, fresh vanilla. Feels like sitting on the beach with a vanilla ice cream cone, the breeze gently wafting the smell of the ice cream towards you every now and then. Overall, a subtly sweet, inoffensive scent that is unlikely to bother those with sensitive noses.

The formula is very weak, however; I have to spray a LOT just to catch a whiff of anything. It's almost undetectable otherwise. I thought I was just noseblind to this scent at first, but I asked a few other people and they couldn't smell it either. It was only after I'd loaded on like 15 sprays that I could smell anything. From a more positive angle, this is a good fragrance for times when you really shouldn't be wearing a fragrance at all.

Even once you apply enough to get some projection, it doesn't stick around for long. Similar to most Pacifica fragrances, the longevity of Island Vanilla is lacking. It fades to nothing in only a few hours. It might be a better idea to invest in the mist instead of the perfume, as the performance is almost identical but the mist is half the price.

Update: If you like this fragrance, I'd suggest you grab another bottle of the original formula asap. As many of you may have noticed by now, Pacifica recently did an overhaul with all of their fragrances, redesigning the bottles and selling 2oz for the same price as the old 1oz bottles. I was excited about this at first (yay affordability), but I think they reformulated several of the actual fragrances to keep the price down. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of them; the new pink 2oz version has a touch of the overdone AG Cloud DNA instead of light, creamy, airy vanilla. It isn't the same at all.

Shimmer412

Such a pretty, sweet, simple, and beachy vanilla… I love it! I definitely get some beach vibes from this, which I absolutely love! I don’t see coconut listed in the notes, but I feel like there is a little coconut blended in with this beautiful vanilla! I also pick up on some soft florals and fruits, but the sweet vanilla is absolutely the star of this fragrance!

Island Vanilla is a lovely fragrance all on its own, but it’s also great for layering, especially for newbies! The sweet, simple vanilla goes well with a lot of different scents! I personally love layering it with Indian Coconut Nectar!

I typically get great longevity with my fragrances (even body mists!), and Island Vanilla is no exception… it lasts all day on me! The projection is nice, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me!

I’m a huge fan of beachy fragrances, so for reference here are some of my favorites: Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, Replica Beach Walk, Nest Sunkissed Hibiscus, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess, JHAG Lust For Sun, JHAG Vanilla Vibes, and Kate Spade Live Colorfully.

I also own and love another Pacifica fragrance, Indian Coconut Nectar! It’s another rather simple yet pretty beachy fragrance!

Tintalle

This is such a happy, lovely vanilla. I own both varieties of lotion and the body wash as well, as they layer quite beautifully with other fragrances I have.

This vanilla is a bit fruity, but it isn't overtly so. This perfume mainly smells like a vanilla cupcake, and sometimes that is just right for me.

This, French Lilac, and Persian Rose are such wonderful perfumes, especially when you consider their price.

saradaiglestevens

This was my signature scent for years so I have a soft spot for it. I believe I wore it from 2013-2019, every season! To me, Island Vanilla smelt like a bright and fruity vanilla. I could not get enough of the scent. I never had issues with quality control, as it always smelt the same for me with each bottle I purchased. I do not think it was watered down ever. I believe because I wore it so much, I became nose blind to it because, on several occasions over the years, I was consistently told that I smelt like a cupcake, even after I was unable to smell it on myself. This was my happy scent. I think I outgrew it because, near the end, I did not like the smell on me (it smelt like caca if I am being completely honest - I think my body chemistry over time negatively reacted to the fragrance. Honestly, that is a bit sad because I loved this scent. Maybe one day I will be able to wear it again. Maybe not, either way, I do reccomend this vanilla purfume if you want a pure vanilla scent. You will likely smell like cupcakes too. It is such a beautiful scent, just not on me lol! Oh, and I loved the cost - at the time, a bottle only cost ~$ 30 CAD! So it was a steal of a deal.

renamamiya

It lasts me for like two seconds but it's the cutest sweet vanilla with sugary undertones. I like to layer this with Ariana Grande Cloud when I want to smell sickeningly sweet, which happens. It's nice and inexpensive but unreliable. You get what you pay for and I think in this case it's quite ok.

vanillachocolatelover

This is a little biased since I'm a vanilla lover, but I absolutely love this scent, it smells so delicious. A simple, sweet vanilla with a hint of honey and caramel, kind of beachy. However this does not project well and is not long-lasting, so I wouldn't wear it on its own. Perfect for layering though since it's very basic and straightforward.

Clairemwaldo

I have bought the perfume of this twice. If you spray on your clothes/hair it lasts FOREVER. I will re purchase again

Zombie Apocalypse

The perfume is no stronger than the water mist. Really they are almost the same!

With the exception that it seems like with the perfume...in the 30ml bottle, 29.99% of the bottle's liquid is something other than the perfume. Literally 4 drops of fragrance is all there seems to be in here and It fades within 5 minutes.

This is NOT a reliable fragrance to wear to an event like out to dinner, wedding, or anywhere you actually need to be wearing a perfume. This is more like a work from home, gym, going to the dentist fragrance. Good anytime you can't actually wear a fragrance.

It's the no fragrance.... fragrance. Its not even strong enough to be a skin scent.

lepx0x

This is a really beautiful vanilla scent mixed with some florals in the background, the only downfall to this fragrance is the staying power I cannot smell it after 5 minutes of wear.

Rozalina

I think this smells better than Tihota (yeah, I said it). Why am I comparing the two? Because to my nose, these are both vanilla extract perfumes. But while Tihota is thick and dense to the point of getting on my nerves, Pacifica wears light and airy like a delicate vanilla cloud. Unfortunately, I went through my entire perfume bottle in just over a month. Also has dreadful lasting power, so I will not repurchase (or maybe I will in a moment of weakness, since it’s like $20).

Kitkat1820

I love this!! It smells like a sugar cookie on a tropical island.

Alexthemenace

I am writing this based of the hair and body spray version of this scent. This perfume attacks my noise for some reason, which is a shame for me because I like it. My fav scent by pacifica is the coconut hair and body spray, that one does not have that effect. perhaps its just the way this scent is built.

MiniMena

To my nose this is a dupe for Molinards Vanille Fruité. It's so good!

calmarimon

I have the body mist of this and it is the perfect everyday vanilla scent. It makes you smell like vanilla cake and I have received compliments that I smell good when wearing it. It's also perfect for layering with other fragrances or even other vanilla perfumes to make it last longer. Once I run out of this spray I will consider buying the perfume version.

Kcxbutterfly

I am a vanilla connoisseur I love all things vanilla.
And this perfume is the reason why.
I bought it in 2015 and received so many compliments everyone telling me I smell like vanilla ice cream which is so refreshing in this Hawaii heat.
Nonetheless I finished the bottle and never repurchased on a quest to find this smell in other perfumes I’ve smelled vanilla woods, vanilla bourbon, vanilla bean , vanilla sky and many many more wishing they could be this.
I finally caved in today and just bought the body spray to see if I still felt the same since it’s cheaper and It does.
It’s a light airy salty vanilla.
Imagine walking into a ice cream shop it’s a hot summer day you are at your favorite tropical vacation spot.
That is the vibe I’m going to buy the perfume because I believe it projects more than the spray.
So happy I have this back in my collection.

Zombie Apocalypse

I just got the body mist and wasn't sure if I bought a bottle of water??!!!
A lot of people are saying that the scent is almost NON Existent. People who bought the perfume are saying the same thing. Leaky bottle and very faint scent. I have owned the body spray in the past and it was just as good as the perfume. Now I feel my body spray is just water. Such a shame!

vanillaflower4

Not bad but this literally has zero projection as soon as you spray it. It's a skin scent not even a few seconds after application, I've tested it over and over and I can barely smell it so I never bought it. The Solinotes vanilla is better and a better price/value ratio

Theahmmm

This is my all time favorite vanilla and I always get lots of compliments with this. I do not find it plastic or artificial at all, but the smell is very intense almost more like vanilla extract rather than vanilla. It is creamy with a hint of salt and some tropical notes. Perfect both on warm and cold weather. Lats a really long time on me but unfortunately it is really hard to find in Scandinavia.

Chika-G

This is a simple sweet/salty vanilla. It isn't long lasting but definitely layerable. To my nose it smells quite similar to VS Bare Vanilla and even more similar to Pascal Morabito's V for Vanilla (which isn't on Fragrantica's database yet).

flem

Nearly 100% identical to Eau Duelle. I would struggle to differentiate them if tested blind, if I could at all.

disintegrations

Simple and pretty, it's a sweet & salty vanilla with a lot of creaminess which makes it great for layering. I spray it in my hair for extra compliments ;)

canisvesperus

Pacifica’s Island Vanilla is a tropical, edible vanilla entwined with prominent honey. The warm honey note is just as strong if not stronger than the buttery alcoholic vanilla. Very, very sticky sweet, creamy, and delicious. Besides that, there’s not much complexity. I imagine it would do well when layered. I don’t really smell any of the tea at all. Maybe there’s a very slight hint of coconut, but I’m unsure. The floral note is very minimal, I hardly notice it. It’s somewhat similar to a few other fragrances by Pacifica— beachy, but not nearly as beachy as Indian Coconut Nectar. If you’re looking for a more refined vanilla, this will probably be too immature and cutesy. Still, I think it’s a fun little fragrance, and you just cannot beat the price. Great for leisurely summer and late spring days, carefree and joyous.

ogyanabear

from the first time i smelled this in the body mist , to me smelling it now ( i put the perfume on for bed & im under my covers as im typing this ) , ive always thought it smelled like Lucky Charms - the marshmallows especially . it is a little more sweet / sticky like due to the honey note . think sweeet sweet sticky honey + some vanilla mixed together , & lucky charms marshmallows .. spot on what my nose picks up . the honey & vanilla notes even remind me of the sweetness of the milk thats left over after you eat cereal .. though its not grainy at all if that makes sense ( it doesnt smell like literal cereal grain just the LC marshmallows + vanilla + honey ) . its not a crazy performer , but if youre sensitive to smells , its slightly possible this might make you feel a teensy bit .. annoyed , iykwim .. due to the sticky , honey like note . & i think that might also be whats making it smell a bit off to other people . but i love it personally , especially the body mist as its more light & airy ~ though 0 longevity :) i dont get any jasmine ( thank God , im not a fan ) . & the tea note is probably just verrrry well mixed in there / in the backround behind the rest of the sweetness . pretty chill , slightly unique , vanilla scent . i wouldn't say anything about it is " island " like though .

edit : i can definately get the " CARAMEL BUBBLE TEA " scent another user mentioned below ! lol . though its not exactly caramel , thats how prominent the honey note is in this fragrance . its nothing suuuper special ( its a very simple scent ) , but if you like the sound of lucky charms marshmallows , sweet honey & vanilla , or sweet bubble tea , i think its safe to say youd like this ♡

fruity_iykwim

@Isabel13 I totally agree that the body mist smelled like play doh at first! I let it macerate for a month or 2 and now it's very true to the notes, all of which I love :) although I will say I got a pack of body mists (sephora points lol) and the Indian coconut nectar still smells like play doh unfortunately. both don't last very long, but that's to be expected from a body mist lol.

anyway - i wasn't originally intrigued by the name island vanilla, but the the tea - honey - vanilla is all so balanced, sweet, and delicious! smells like being cozy while drinking tea and eating ice cream or something!🍦 I would categorize this as a cozy fall vanilla more than anything. doesn't really suit the name or packaging.

I love this and I will be picking up the EDP!!

MrsMRe

Less "island" tropical than incense-y vanilla--apparently the "burnt" note that others are mentioning. It's very nice for the price and for those of us seeking a less foody vanilla.

Foxzilla

I got Island Vanilla looking for an uncomplicated vanilla (based on reviews), and not only did I get that, but I got something even better! This particular scent reminds me of the drydown of one of my favorite / signature scents - Love Don't Be Shy By Kilian. I love the way LDBS smells on me, and I especially love how the scent evolves in several different distinct ways depending on where I spray it (skin, clothes, hair, etc.) For me, IV reminds me of the scent form that only appears in the late drydown of LDBS on my skin. It's quite elusive compared to the more straightforward, bolder drydown on my clothes, but I friggin love & crave catching whiffs of that "golden hour" skin drydown segment. And if you took that elusive drydown and removed all the orange blossom / neroli parts, you'd have IV.
Performance-wise, I think this is ok. I would say it's comparable to designer EDT - EDC quality. However, IV still performs better than my elusive LDBS drydown skinscent, so it's a win-win for me. Plus, I can play around and layer this with other scents to my heart's content! I'm giddy just thinking of all the possibilities ✨️

*edit* I went out and got the alcohol-free hair/body mist version too, and surprisingly, I feel like the hair/body mist might actually perform better than the regular one! I used the body mist before bed the last 2 nights, and I could still smell it on my sheets in the morning. Even on my skin, it has better sillage than the regular version. And I really enjoy the sprayer -- it has this long misting effect so you don't have to keep pumping it. If you're having performance issues with the regular version, consider trying the alcohol-free version! The little 2oz. version is only like $5.

Isabel13

Why does this smell like plastic or play dough? I had the body mist so maybe the perfume itself is better. Just be warned y’all.

Charli3

If anyone knows a perfume that smells like this but with longevity and silage please dm me, it’s such a lovely vanilla but the performance is so bad

parkerpears

i really wanted to like this, but i keep getting a weird burnt/plasticky note. kinda smells like rubber tires. idk if my bottle went bad or something, but i bought it only a week ago, and the liquid is still clear.

i smell the same burnt smell in an old bottle of (probably expired) gardenia perfume from this brand.

i hope that this issue is just with my bottle, and that it smells more pleasant for other people.

Pointelleandperfume

Pacifica's island vanilla is a natural, barely noticeable vanilla. It has a very pure floral vanilla smell to it, but the scent of this is completely gone in 5 minutes. When reapplying, it smelt very alcohol heavy. A bit too green for my taste, I don't think this one is for the gourmand girlies.

Strawberrythinking...

Straight up vanilla extract. It has a hint of fruitiness which makes it very nice and girly. A very simple, linear perfume. As a vanilla fan, this is perfect. However, I wish it projected more or lasted longer. If I smell my wrist hours after applying, there is literally NO TRACE. So my perfume hating boyfriend does not mind it. Hahah. Also, it's vegan and cruelty-free which is great!

dj71

As I love the smell of vanilla, I won't say that this is bad at all. Smell is PURE VANILLA joy. But, this is yet another Pacifica scent that just smells more simple than the notes listed. I honestly don't smell any other note in here like the honey or jasmine. It's almost like I'm sniffing a higher quality vanilla extract. Are you all able to pick out the other notes in this one? Maybe my nose isn't trained enough yet!

lavender_wind.

Smells like the less expensive version of Tihota. Both feature Tahitian vanilla, the fruitier version of vanilla compared to bourbon or Madagasgar vanilla :)

Anabee

This is a pure, warm vanilla scent. Nothing edgy, nothing sharp. Just warm, fluffy, natural vanilla!
It’s perfect for layering. I frequently combine it with Replica - By the Fireplace, to make the latter softer and more feminine. every vanilla lover needs this little gem, imo.

suzanne_ronald

Caramel BUBBLE TEA! Opens with a burst of full-bodied vanilla that has honey, beer, chocolate and caramel nuances and transitions to a heart of vanilla tea/dewdrops resting on rooty vanilla-tapioca pearl base. Seekers and collectors of vanilla scents won't be disappointed.

Contrast to Lira Xerjoff:
These are very different, but similar in that they are both vanilla-forward scents. IV doesn't have the citus prominent in Lira. Lira is lemon-vanilla poundcake melting into cinnamon-caramel.

Contrast to Vanille Bourbon Laurence Dumont:
Different scents but the most similar of vanilla scents I've had my nose on. Both have vanilla nuanced by honey, beer, chocolate and caramel that becomes slightly rootyas it dries down. I find VB slightly more animalic than Island Vanilla. Both require several months in dark storage to develop performance.

Contrast to Cake Heavy Cream Body Balm:
Both vanilla forward scents but Island Vanilla doesn't have the vanilla butter-cream icing with coconut & cinnamon vibe present in Cake Heavy Cream.

Overall: Average performance that becomes beast mode if layered over its matching body lotion. The body lotion has a mocha colour that disappears into the skin. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

supergirl9412

The evolution of Island Vanilla is wild! Here’s what I get ..
—Green and sour (for only the first five minutes, thankfully)
—Smoother, sweeter, but doughy vanilla; feels a little generic
—Less doughy; still feels generic but it’s a good “vanilla extract” scent
—Deeper vanilla; slightly more distilled; borderline woodsy
—Vanilla and caster sugar; drydown is super similar to Solinotes Vanille

Light projection but okay for lasting.

I bought it but will be returning. It is a nice buy, but I’ve got a lot of vanillas, and this one isn’t special enough to keep. I’d rather use the money on another perfume.

Atomikbomb_

My initial reaction to this fragrance was -'It's so cute!'- because truly, it is. I believe this has the potential to unite vanilla lovers and vanilla critics in agreeing that to this is nice.

It opens with fresh, airy vanilla, it's kind of salty and fresh, but only gently so. It doesn't actually smell like tea to me, but it has an aquatic quality.

As it dries it warms to you and becomes nearly a beachy scent, but more graceful than the typical sunscreen scent. It does indeed smell a little honeyed. I'm not sure people would identify this as a perfume, it just smells like lovely lotion or something. It isn't creamy or rich, but it's sweet and soft.

This isn't heavy in the slightest, and that's ok to me because this can be worn in summer. I simply wish it lasted a little longer, but this is still a fantastic deal for it's price.

CindieLeon

This is the most inexpensive pure vanilla fragrance that I own. Use it most often for layering with other scents!

restein

This smells a lot like the brand's Blue Moon fragrance! Very affordable, but unfortunately not super strong. I would say it's a pretty safe "blind" buy if you like vanilla. The sampler pack with this scent in it would make a great gift for someone just starting out with perfume, as the fragrances are uncomplicated and mostly pleasant.

Vicschmidtscents

This is THE staple vanilla fragrance for layering. Its linear and goes with everything, and a little goes a long way. For under $25 at Target, this was an easy addition to my collection.

sleepymirabelle

I absolutely LOVE this! inexpensive, long lasting, good projection, a lovely spring honey slightly floral vanilla. There's a freshness to it, great for layering too because its very one note. one of the most beautiful happy vanillas ive smelled

My only complaint is that it goes bad really quickly, has a shelf life of abt 3-5 months. what a shame :( Ive had mine for about 4 months and im now noticing it has this weird off rotten kinda smell in the background. Its not so horrible but im done wearing this and probably wont repurchase unless I know ill use the whole thing within 3 months. Thankfully this is only 1oz and its 22$ so unless you have a big collection and rotate through ur bottles, youll probably use this up within 3 months. Such a shame because its a beautiful scent but because of the shelf life I dont recommend it, you can find similar body sprays from VS or BBW at similar prices that you will be able to have for some years.

Zombie Apocalypse

I only have the body spray but I don't really like it. Its very tweeny and smells a bit like plastic vanilla and fruit. I am not sure if the perfume is different than the body spray? The body spray really smells super young and cheap.

RegalKitten

This was my favourite Pacifica fragrance of the ones I've tried, and it has a bit of depth to the vanilla, I guess from the honey note. Can't distinguish any of the other notes. Maybe my continued appreciation for it is more from the nostalgia of it, but my tastes have changed so much that once I finish my bottle I will not repurchase. My boyfriend said it smells like baking, which sounds like a good thing to me. This is better than Indian Coconut Nectar which is a watery vanilla, not coconut, and turns into a basic vanilla essence smell.

ellishall

I love Island Vanilla. It can be worn any season at any time of day. It’s a classic vanilla scent, but somehow not boring. I could see this being too sweet for some, or wearing bad on someone who’s body chemistry doesn’t mix well with sweet. If you like super sweet vanilla smells, I think you will like this. I’m shocked that I haven’t seen anybody say that they smell a little bit of chocolate.

heavystarry

boozy vanilla ice cream topped with honey, a little warm and melty from the microwave. the soapiness is reminiscent of a super delicious vanilla candle burning on a chilly evening. it's a thick and sticky kind of sweetness but not cloying at all. i sincerely think it's great for any season. lasting power is maybe 4-5 hours on me and wears super close to the skin. inoffensive and not too loud or complex of a scent so it's perfect for most occasions and layering with other fragrances. you really can't go wrong with this one especially with a price like that ^_^

AdalynEverly

All I can say about this perfume is that it's a meh, or an bleh. This perfume is reminiscent of a smell from childhood, but not in a good way. Alost that your re-smelling rancid vanilla makeup perfume. Also the title is VERY misleading there is no tropical anything in this perfume.
EDIT: As I reapplied this perfume to my skin, my skin started to itch. I never had bad reaction to perfume, and I've tried hundreds of them. I change my mind I HATE this perfume,

irlfireprincess

A really nice sugary sweet vanilla! Feels like something that could be worn year-round as it’s neither too heavy for summer nor too “cold” for winter. It almost reminds me of a less cloying, more complex version of Warm Vanilla Sugar, like its more grown-up cousin. Could be worn alone but would be great for layering.

EDIT: I wrote this review after spraying this at Target to sample, and then I walked outside into the heat and wow! It really came alive! It reminds me of a sugary vanilla icing/frosting in the heat and projected quite well outside. I’m very sad they didn’t have any in stock to purchase and may have to go online to grab one! I almost prefer this to my Montale Vanilla Cake as that fragrance has a weird-smelling stage at the beginning, but VC has absolute beast mode longevity and I doubt a $20 cheapie can stand up to that.

russianprincess98

I would describe this smell as an average vanilla with a really soapy feel... It's just okay, but nothing special nor noticeable. I only use it around the house so I smell decent but non-invasive for my partner. If you get this, get it for layering other perfumes, but I wouldn't recommend it as an individual perfume as it's too boring. Also: weak performance + sillage.

funeralparty

I have the body spray and I was impressed by how much longer it lasts than some of my more expensive perfumes. The only notes I really noticed were vanilla and a little coconut (which I’m surprised isn’t listed as a note) but I’m probably way off since I don’t have the actual perfume. It objectively smells REALLY good but I can’t give this 5/5 solely because I’m not much of a gourmand girl. My sister who’s a huge vanilla fan loves this stuff though.

stacia79

"Pacifica Island Vanilla is my jam" is what my new age-y west coast friend told me when they learned that perfume is a hobby and passion of mine. And so I bought a bottle. When that ran out, I bought a second bottle. Pacifica is affordable enough to do this. And I get why my friend loves this one. I'm not the biggest fan of vanilla perfumes but when done right they fill a necessary space in my fragrance wardrobe. The honey note makes this a bit more interesting somehow. Can be worn on its own or layered with another scent, in any season or weather, to any place... versatility points! Warm, creamy and soft. Makes me think of cake.

Lykopa

This is Sweet Vanilla. It’s wonderful. A bit alchohol-y on first spray, but once it dries down, it is pure vanilla extract. Perfect for layering.

FCrisp

A great, warm vanilla. I enjoy it, especially before bed. My only complaint is the performance. It's a bit weak, even when layering with body wash, lotion, etc.

Detman101

I bought this frag for my sister back in December of last year. She loved it.
So I went back to Target to actually smell it....WOW!
Picked up a bottle for the truck and another for layering experimentation!
Good stuff! And Cheap!!

danygurl06

I often don't like plain vanilla fragrances. Most smell like vanilla extract straight from the bottle and that stinks to me. This actually smells good to me and not like bottled vanilla extract. I also find it a bit strange on my skin. It smells very waxy. People have told me I smell great each time I've worn this over the years. Some even say I smell like a good candle.

I think they hit the nail on the head with the candle comment. Its that type of waxiness. I wouldn't personally wear this everyday. Its just not my type of fragrance. If I had to smell nice for other's sake, I would hesitate to put it on.

sofiasperfumeaddiction

I like this fragrance, but for me it is a very simple vanilla, which I would imagine would be great for layering.

This is such a nice, simple vanilla. Reminds me very much of my Al-Rehab Vanilla Musk oil, which didn't roll on very well so I ended up tossing it. This is rich, sweet, and probably a nice scent for layering too.

FCrisp

I like this although it is a bit weak. The dry down was described as vanilla ice cream by another reviewer. I would agree. It's a good, everyday vanilla scent . Not offensive for work or school. I'll finish what I have, it is a delicious scent, but doubt I will repurchase. I have other vanilla scents with better performance.

mckfly24

The lotion smells exactly like Sixlets candies. Almost like a fake milk chocolate malt powder.

thesuperiorscent

Good, but stick to the bottle rather than the roll on. I bought the roll on version of this perfume from Target after using the test bottle on the display and noticing it had decent silage for a vanilla scented perfume! Unfortunately the fragrance in the roll on did not perform as well as that in the test bottle: the roll-on fragrance smelled more strongly of alcohol and the silage was so weak. I applied to the usual places (wrists, elbows, chest/collarbone) and I couldn't smell it at all, even though I'd just applied it. The bit I'd sprayed from the test bottle on the back of my hand an hour ago was stronger than what I'd just applied on the rest of my body.

The smell itself though, is amazing. The bit I sprayed on my hand from the test bottle started out as a warm vanilla and later turned into something resembling creamy vanilla ice cream! The vanilla scent is very realistic and one of the best smelling vanilla scents you can buy for the price in my opinion. The honey note increases with time and it's just lovely. I will buy the bottle and hope for the best.

sunflowergirl

A soft, mild, inoffensive vanilla skin scent. Doesn't make much of an impact on its own, but might work well for layering, as it will not overpower other fragrances.

averyaslo

I love this, I have the hair & body mist. I say get that over the perfume because it's cheaper, lasts fine, and there's no alcohol. It's not cloying in the spring or summer since it's not a warm baked-good vanilla. It's like ice cream, cool and creamy. It's a sweet daytime scent and I don't care if it smells juvenile, it's delicious! I love it in my hair and for layering.

LSAUG

This is a nice linear sweet vanilla scent. I only gave it an OK because it smells immature to my nose, but I am a 51 yr old woman. But on 2nd thought I changed this to a like. It is nice but for a young girl. The scent smells like slightly fruity, sweet, sugary, vanilla whipped cream and that is about it. I would give this to my very young niece. She's 3 at the moment and should wait a little while before getting a 1st perfume, my other nieces have moved away from this scent profile. When she gets a little older, I will probably pick this up for her. It is a nice scent for a young girl. If you like sweet, whipped cream fragrances that are girly and don't smell trampy like some do (Fresh Cream from Philosophy comes to mind, that smells like straight up Ready Whip in the can) this is a good way to go.

*loves_shoes*

Review of the body and hair mist.
No alcohol means it makes your hair and skin quite wet, and there isn’t enough fragrance to overcome the wet hair smell. The fragrance of the mist is nice, like a warm vanilla rather than a sharp one, but there just isn’t a high enough concentration to make it leave any sort of fragrance on the skin or hair. You need to get your hair sooooo wet to get any sort of scent, so if you have styled hair it would probably ruin it (mine is naturally straight so it’s not a huge issue).
The liquid is opaque and a creamy toffee colour. My bottle was clear, bought it new.
This is the first alcohol free fragrance I’ve tried, and while the actual smell is lovely, it leaves my skin a bit sticky and there isn’t much strength to the fragrance left on the skin. Not sure I’d try any more. But I do like the way it doesn’t dry my skin out, so it’s maybe useful for spraying on my legs, it’s just a shame it’s so weak.
Ok scent for £12, but performance is weak.

olfactorydarling

I really like this for the price. It smells better than Tihota in my opinion and for a fraction of the price. Silage is not great but longevity on clothes is pretty good. It's a simple scent and smells like a sweet vanilla extract. It wears nicely with the matching body lotion.

tenderhearted

I adore this perfume!! 😍❤️

It smells so sweet and fluffy. It’s like a marshmallow cloud. It’s warm and soft, but noticeable. It’s also got a coolness as well, like ice cream. it’s another scent that I find to have a duality. I am a vanilla lover, it’s one of my very favorite notes. I really think vanilla lovers should try this out.😊

Pacifica is near and dear to my heart for being cruelty free❤️🐶
They have such beautiful perfumes🌸🌸

marilyn62

I was on Ulta's website and I was trying to find something to use my birthday discount on and thought what the heck, this has good reviews and looks like a scent I would like so i bought the Body and Hair mist. When i got it and sprayed it on my arms, it was heaven!! It smelled EXACTLY like what i thought Philosophy's Fresh Cream was supposed to smell like. But Fresh Cream turned into a sour milk scent on me and I was so disappointed and couldn't wear it. This, however, is a dream!! I smell like vanilla cupcakes!! This body and hair mist does not have the alcohol in it that Bath and Body Works mists do, so it doesn't have that alcohol smell and lasts all day on me too! Sometimes I will spray this on my arms and chest and sometimes my hair and then apply one spritz of Armani Si Fiori or two spritzes of Narciso Poudree. And then i am on cloud nine alllllll day. I cannot recommend this enough if you want to smell like vanilla cupcakes!

eileeta

This smells so decadent and yummy.
Doesn’t last terribly long though. I can squeeze about 3 hours out of it- and I’m an oversprayer.

No scent trail at all- you couldn’t smell it unless you hugged the person wearing it, definitely a more intimate silage.

It’s a super light scent, and generally a basic vanilla in my opinion.

Though the performance isn’t amazing, I still recommend it as it’s super cheap and makes you smell yummy.

Emz____

I bought the travel size version to keep in my car as a refresher for work. Of all my body mists and perfumes, this one has probably gotten me the most compliments. I’ll spritz two or three sprays and people will stop me at work to tell me I smell amazing or ask me what I’m wearing. I’ve since gotten the actual perfume of this since I couldn’t find another travel size. I bought one as a gift for my friend, and she gets told she smells like cupcakes. It’s a very yummy scent with a decent lasting power.

MarinaJade

I wear this every single night to bed. It makes my mouth water lol no it doesn't last long enough to wear out the door but when you're at home chilling on the couch headed to bed. I love it so much 😍❤️

kiaoi

On my skin this vanilla perfume is very faint but I like it this way. If you like sweet scents but Pink Sugar is too loud for you, this will give you sweet vanilla without being overpowering. It doesn’t have a good sillage, it’s more of a personal perfume or a perfume to share with those near you (I mean, very near to you). Because this perfume is made with essential oils, I do get the food-grade vanilla scent with the initial alcohol slap but after the perfume dries up, I get an almost flowery note. I own the roller ball, it’s just a convenient way to do a retouch when the already light scent is weakening up.

thestranger

This is a cozy vanilla that is not cloying. It smells more like natural vanilla beans than a vanilla cupcake. Unfortunately for me, I get hints of latex that interrupt the coziness. I got the same thing with the exorbitantly priced Lune Feline. IIRC, high-quality vanilla in perfumery actually naturally has this latex/medicinal smell to it.

Edit: a few hours later, it’s Thai iced tea!!

Pretty incredible longevity, I smell it on myself 12 hours later, though it’s been a skin scent for most of that

Gina_Nelson

I never wear this on it's own as it is just straight up vanilla but I have gone through almost a whole bottle using it to layer with other fragrances and love it for that purpose.

mermaidylady

Smells like straight-up vanilla frosting. Don't care for it as a perfume (not complex enough for my tastes), but bought the body butter for layering. The body butter version of this scent is very long lasting, and I like to use it when I want to amp up the vanilla notes in other fragrances I wear. It's cozy, sweet, and simple.

ihaveafragranceobsession

I came across this perfume by accident while looking for “cleaner” perfumes, but I am very happy I did! I’ve always been a vanilla wearer, even when changing up my scents, I always used it as a layer, but my go to for 10+ years changed so I was on the lookout for a new one. I sprayed it in the car and as soon as I got home, my daughter was like “you smell like cupcakes!” And my older daughter who doesn’t typically like sweet smells, even said it was nice. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, but I don’t mind it because I layer with an amber oil and it smells divine! I know some have said the longevity isn’t great, but I find it to last on me very long. I spray it on before bed and I can still smell it in the morning! Can’t go wrong with this scent especially at the price point!

anni_cola

This is a very simple vanilla scent. In college this was my signature scent and would wear it to brunches, class, and orientations. It's non offensive and cute and people were able to recognize that this is what I smelled like. This is is the scent of a pleasant friendly and comforting person. I do remembering having to carry around a rollerball to touch up throughout the day. I've considered adding this back to my collection, but perhaps I should leave it back in my younger college years.

joyeuxchiot

very classic vanilla scent

Adelamgarceo

Before reading what I’m about to say, please know that Pacifica has some very lovely fragrances and one bad one doesn’t represent them all - and of course this is just my own experience. So I tried this in the hair and body mist and maybe the perfume has a different formulation and thus scent. I’m hoping that’s the case with the perfume because the hair and body mist smelled exactly like a baby wipe on me 😖 The initial spray was just...yuck. The dry down turned into a very faint skin scent and that’s when the vanilla came through. If you’re new to Pacifica, definitely try their other scents as there are many terrific ones, and if you still want to try Island Vanilla then make sure to test out both the hair and body mist and the perfume - maybe, hopefully, the perfume is better.

oubliette

Not the best of the Pacifica range, in my opinion. Pacifica excels in tropical, fruity and floral scents. Island Vanilla is a pleasant, boozy vanilla but there are so many other vanilla scents out there. It would be okay for a teenager or for layering.

kyl77

Initially I didn't think this lasted, but I've since realized that it really does last a long time. It's not overpowering, and you might not be aware of it, but other people will still smell it on you hours after the initial application. It's a wonderful vanilla that smells like real vanilla beans to me versus something too sweet or synthetic. I like to layer Pacifica's French Lilac over this to approximate the discontinued Stila Creme Bouquet. It's a very close dupe. (Thanks Libra73 for the tip). I think this would be a very good layering fragrance for any number of scents. Great scent. Good value.

violet violin

I was looking for a boozy, not so sweet vanilla for layering. Bought a small body mist in this blind, because there were no testers at the store I went to at the time. I was disappointed, but I can’t say that the scent didn’t live up to its name. It’s very tropical and warm. I smell the “fruity notes” a bit too much. It’s like tropical fruits (pineapple, coconut etc). I really just wanted vanilla and honey notes always intrigue me but I don’t smell honey in this. However, even with the absence of honey, it’s too sweet for me.
I gave it to my 11 year old daughter. It works for her. She is always delighted when I give her a scent I can’t/won’t use! She accidentally sprayed me a bit with this today , which is what prompted my review. I was able to wash it off pretty easily, but she left a sweet little trail in the house after she went to school, so there is some very moderate sillage.

If tropical and sweet are your thing, you will like this. It’s not for me at all though.
ETA I still smell this pretty strongly in her room an hour later. It’s clinging to something in there (rug, bed linens?), not just in the air. So it appears to have decent longevity on clothing maybe?

NatRae

nasty. It smells vanilla for 2 seconds and then becomes an alcohol pepper disaster. put your money towards a better vanilla scent.

fanntonyoscar

HORRIBLE!!! Waste of money. I don’t know what they’ve done, but I have a pretty good idea. The fragrance itself has a ton of potential, but it’s been so watered down that it’s insulting. It’s not expensive, but it’s still not worth wasting the money on it. Suitable for a 6 year old girl’s Barbie dolls, if that.

Kristensvanity

Basic vanilla. It had the tiniest hint of smokey but it was maybe just me. For $20 for a 1oz, this is really overpriced in my opinion. I’d put it at the $10 for a 1oz range because there’s nothing special about it and it has no lasting power, even on clothes.

Aveline

Pacifica makes good cheapies that smell high quality for the price. With that comes expectations, and one cannot really expect high performance. I don't think I've ever gotten more than a few hours out of Island Vanilla, but that aside, I think it blows most I've tried in its price range out of the water. It really does smell like good vanilla extract, and while it doesn't have any other noticeable notes going on, I find it to be somewhat variable, depending on skin chemistry. When I first sampled it years ago, I thought it was a dead ringer for yogurt covered raisins, in the most comforting and nostalgic way. Other times, especially in cold weather, I find this going almost smoky on me. Sometimes it will remind me of Lucky Charms cereal. Though I find it enough on its own, I also like layering Island Vanilla with frags that are a little rough at the top. It's also a great go-to when I have to get up really early in the morning or when I'm not feeling too well. I feel comfortable saying it shouldn't bother anybody sensitive, and I also could see it being a good starter perfume for kids.

abbyweyls

if you like vanilla, you'll like this. it's simple and lasts a while. it's a great price as well!

limbobitch

A classic rlly. Cannot go wrong with this. Just a plain vanilla that lasts forever. You may not smell it on yourself after a while but to others this shit will CLING. Literal days after I wear this, I can still smell it on my clothes I wore from that day. Since its just vanilla it'll layer with everything. Want to sweeten your floral or spicy perfumes with a vanilla scone? Just spray this. Its so affordable and an all-round great one note perfume like how can you go wrong.

LoloB

This is such a cozy, true vanilla. Very linear, not sickly, just similar to a vanilla extract. I love to spray this on cold mornings and weekends as it's very comforting. It also layers very well with other perfumes to add a soft vanilla base. Delicious!

bleach_blonde

A delicious, light marshmallow smell. Very clean and simple for someone who wants vanilla without being too heavy. Always a good compliment getter.

AdamAntifa

Smells like chrap vanilla extract and dirty rubber bands. I can't get past the rubber band note, it reeks. I usually like Pacifica but this one is a hard miss

neroli_fan

strong scent of natural vanilla, like smelling vanilla extract or a real vanilla bean. Delicious and simple.

kyl77

This is a really interesting vanilla fragrance, because it smells like actual vanilla beans versus a cupcake or something sugary sweet. The juice is very natural smelling, but longevity and projection aren't that great. It's more of a skin scent that lasts only a few scant hours. I bought the roller ball version for only $12.00 dollars, so it's not like I'm really disappointed or anything. I do like this fragrance. I especially like the fact that all of this company's products are vegan and cruelty free. It's just not love. I'm still on the lookout for a better vanilla.

Can'tstopFragranceAddict

This is a warm and slightly fruity vanilla.
The stand out notes are Vanilla and honey with jasmine making a little appearance.
I agree with the previous review that this is a perfect bedtime scent. It’s great for anxiety because it’s calming, cozy and delicious. Plus it’s fantastic for layering with other vanilla’s
It’ go’s great with the bodyshop’s Vanilla. ❤️

nsaalcorn7

For me, this is the perfect sleepy-time vanilla. I love wearing it fresh out of the shower while bundled up in my pajamas. It smells so perfectly of vanilla without going into gourmand or super warm territory; this is great for me because my skin does not like gourmands. It's more of a cool vanilla. I think it's the tea notes that help temper it from being too sweet. I love spraying my sheets with it, too. I wake up in the morning and still smell it very subtly on my skin. The perfect light dreamy vanilla.

Balletflowers

I absolutely love this! Vanilla lovers you have to try this! This is pure vanilla. I recently, past month or so, have gotten into vanilla. Never have been before, I’m more of a white floral girl. I once purchased something online about a year ago & it came with a free body/hair mist of this, I liked it but never realized they had a perfume. Every now & then after taking a shower, I would spray my hair with it, I could smell it for so long, until I washed my hair. So, safe to say the body mist has great lasting power. I also purchased Kayali Vanilla 28, I claim that’s the best pure vanilla but that smells identical to this & this is way more affordable! I don’t know why it’s called Island Vanilla, I don’t get any fruity or tropical vibes here? It should’ve been called Vanilla Dreams or something. Highly recommend for vanilla lovers!

heartstopss

this is my favorite perfume. i keep coming back to it whenever i try to switch things up. i’ve got a whole collection of more expensive perfumes and ill wear them sometimes and be like oh, nice. for a week or so. but i return to this one every time! something about it is just so comforting and cozy to me. if i’m having a bad day it instantly lifts my mood. i find it to be a very creamy, milky vanilla with a touch of fruit and honey. not too sweet or cloying. as a bonus it lasts all day on me, with decent silage. the only perfumes i’ve ever enjoyed as much as this one are the vintage hypnotic poison (i don’t care as much for the newer one) and prada candy l’eau, which is sadly discontinued.

oldleather

I’m not really a vanilla fragrance wearer and the majority of my collection is intense florals. Usually, I love clean, soapy, floral, laundry detergent type scents. This scent though.. this scent is so heavenly and warm. It has incredible performance in a world where most fragrances don’t last more than 30 minutes -_-

Pacifica has some really impressive offerings with their fragrances. I also picked up “Indian coconut nectar” that I’m excited to wear this summer.

Island vanilla is a true Tahitian vanilla bourbon. It doesn’t smell like frosting and it certainly isn’t juvenile. It’s a true, warm vanilla. It’s more of like a vanilla bread than a vanilla cupcake. I definitely smell the floral / honey and tea notes. I think the additional notes are what makes this fragrance more sophisticated and mature.

I’ve also gotten compliments everytime I’ve worn this. Love it!

nyteshade

To me, this smells like a warm, natural bakery-type vanilla, I really do not get any other notes, just vanilla. This is an excellent vanilla perfume...a solid like for me.

Lloves

Much prefer the body mist. Something off in this form, at least on me

CherriedEmpress

This is be-ootiful! I mean, really! I held off for a few years on buying Island Vanilla, because I thought it would be like a generic vanilla extract — but it's not. I am so glad I bought this! I paid $13.50 for the 1-ounce spray. Not only is this an amazing deal, but you will never find another well-known and quality vanilla like this for that price. It smells WAY more expensive. I am impressed by the quality and the layers of this fragrance.

Island Vanilla, on first spray, is a very cool, fresh vanilla. Cold and milky and dreamy, like ice cream. After half on hour on my skin, it slowly changes to a rich, honeyed, bourbon vanilla with some fruity qualities. This scent is not a powerhouse, but it's no weak thing. It is winter now but I am guessing it will be even better in spring (or fall).

Island Vanilla is compared to VS Wicked on the "reminds me of" bar here. They are very similar in scent, yes they are. Both are great fragrances, and perform well, but... I loved Island Vanilla at first spray. With Wicked, I thought, "Oh, pretty... maybe I'll buy it." Then, after buying it some time later, I got bored within a week and sold it. Island Vanilla has a distinct "coolness" to it. It is a milky vanilla, and has honey richness. Wicked has more musk, a fluffy quality to it.

I usually suppress my desire for vanilla fragrances with a mental reminder: "I already have two large bottles of Pink Sugar." Well, no matter how carefully you store it, Pink Sugar expires after a couple of years, as I am unhappily discovering (not just the color — the scent goes bad). Pink Sugar also has a blatant black licorice note, a slightly burnt smell. I wanted something just as rich and pretty as Pink Sugar without the unwanted qualities. Island Vanilla is still less sweet than Pink Sugar — which I'd classify as cotton-candy vanilla with loads of white sugar dumped on it, set on fire then blown out, and garnished with black licorice.

I disliked Prada Candy. A lot. To me, Candy was in no way even a gourmand. It was like a musty, sweet-smelling funeral home, with emphasis on the funeral home.

But, I digress:

You need Island Vanilla in your life if you love vanilla.

patchgirl83

Island Vanilla to me is Pink Sugar's older sophisticated sister
Pink Sugar is a senior in high school or a freshman in college, while, Island fantasy is a savvy elegant, confident
businesswoman with a husband and kids

lizakaya

Thought i would give this a try as a low cost blind buy, seeing it pop up in some lists of summer frags for 2019. Hits the vanilla note square on the head, and am definitely picking up the honey. The honey adds an extra candied note, but not picking up any fruit or tea which might provide more interest and balance. Will add to my work travel kit as an inoffensive scent that will be a people pleaser; everyone likes vanilla.

kimbkelly

I'm so happy to have found the perfect cupcake/ creme brulee/ vanilla marshmallow fragrance. I went on the HUNT for a scent like this recently, and was surprised that it wasn't mentioned more often. I don't smell anything "island" in it, just so much light crisp amazing vanilla. Fresh Cream by Philosophy dried down heavy, funky, and thick on me, and I couldn't get through a full bottle but this one stays light and creamy. There were stairs a bar in Nashville that smelled like this and it brings me right back that! Getting everything I can find in this fragrance from Pacifica.

muncierobson

Drawn to Pacifica after hearing they are ‘cruelty free’ and suitable for vegans. Very affordable too!

Was instantly reminded of the dry down of Mugler’s Angel ‘Etoile de Reves’ - a very smooth vanilla/caramel combo.

This is simple - sweet and warm. Also reminds me of Pink Sugar and Britney’s Curious in Control, that burnt sugar and creme caramel feel.

Moderate sillage and longevity, easy to reapply at this price!

Rollerball cute but didn’t apply enough so decanted into an atomiser for a fine mist which was great!

Now I feel compelled to try all things Pacifica!

Rangel7

Soft, sweet lemony vanilla...almost like ice-cream smell, absolutely edible.
I'm not much into vanilla perfumes, but my husband loves them, so I compromise. I have the feeling that men enjoy this creamy vanilla more than women, so give it a try if you want a treat for your man.
Also great for layering, though it doesn't last too long. I'll probably try it with some attar and see how it works.

bimjowen

To give you an idea of how I feel about this fragrance, I just stole my fiance's rollerball of Island Vanilla and rolled it under my nose so I can smell it all day.

Full disclosure -- I am a man and she is a woman.

tatetatebaby

I adore this scent, although do keep in mind that it sits close to the skin. My skin chemistry sometimes has problems with sweeter, "candy-like" perfumes, but Island Vanilla is cooler and more summery and so it works better on my skin.

lnoskin

I was at ulta and saw the hair and body mist of this at the counter for $5 so I picked it up. I usually love vanilla so I thought I would like this. When I got home and sprayed this in my hair it made me nauseous (so I can't imagine how I would react to the actual perfume). It really reminded me of philosophy fresh cream, which I hate. If you dislike fresh cream like me, I would stay away. I'm going to return this. The only other travel size one they make is the himalayan patchouli berry so hopefully I will like that one.

Anamandy

This is straight up too sweet. The vanilla smells wonderful but it is killed by the sticky candy sweetness.

Mbrock

This was very disappointing. It smells very good but no longevity or sillage. I love Vs Vanilla Lace & am looking for a perfume the smells like it. This smells good but the VS body mist longer. The scent is a straight forward vanilla, which is what I wanted. I dont get any of the fruit, floral, honey or tea listed as notes at all. Its all vanilla.

Pepperflower

This is exactly what French vanilla ice cream smells like. Custardy, a little egg like and very sweet and creamy vanilla.

Im not too crazy about the longevity but you cant beat the price!

gtabasso

This is dry, plastic, fake and yucky. NOTHING like Sugared Amber Dreams.

adriana.armenta

When I think of vanilla, its usually sweet, foodie, gourmand type scent. I was under the impression this would be similar to a teenage vanilic done before fragrance and this totally changed my mind about vanilla being generically sweet. Thanks to the honey and tea, this smells like a cold tempered vanilla tea drink. I actually do like spraying it from time to time, relishing its uniqueness, even bought myself the hair mist for good measure.

addiehominem

You know that vanilla honey sweet tea accord in Flowerbomb? This is that and only that in a bottle, and I like it a lot, possibly more than Flowerbomb itself. There's no patchouli or earthy weirdness in this, just straight, sweet vanilla smoothness. The vanilla is hard to describe because it isn't rich like vanilla bean or boozy like vanilla extract. It's more like those vanilla tootsie rolls you find in the blue wrapping. Candy-like, but not toothachingly sweet; a little waxy, but edible. Super nice.

cake n' cuddles

I call this vanilla my "barbie vanilla". It smells cool and fruity, and just like a vanilla scented barbie doll I had from the 90's. She was supposed to be lemon scented, but smelled more vanillay than lemon. There is something about this that reminds me of philosophy's fresh cream, but this is more fruity and has a soft plastic edge that gives me a bit of doll head.
This is very addictive to wear, and while it's very basic it isn't boring. I really love bourbon vanillas, but there is something extra special about this unusually cold and fruity Tahitian vanilla.
I just wish it was made a bit better, the longevity & projection seems fair for $20. I would rather pay $60 for something double strength honestly though.

Neckromancer

This is a very woody vanilla. Like drawer freshener cedar blocks mixed with sweetness. That's all I smell. Longevity isn't great. I'd wear it though, if someone bought it for me.

egyptian_beauty99

Name should be " Heavenly Vanilla" its not your typical vanilla, this is "Love". Soft, Sweet,"lemony" vanila it is beautifully made, and it capturing sweet and fresh. I feel so Femenine wearing this. Its capable of just alluring men in how can you not feel beautiful in this.

allie26

Love this perfume! Heavenly vanilla. Has the lovely fragrance of freshly made waffle cones. I've had so many compliments from the first day I wore it.

Piperok26

This smells just like vanilla extract. I don't get any of the other notes in this. Not impressed.

geekgoddess

I bought the rollerball tube of Island Vanilla a while back, and really liked it. It was this slightly powdery vanilla that wasn't too sweet, and was a bit more complex than other cheap vanillas. When I ended up dropping the perfume bottle and breaking it, I bought the larger one ounce bottle, and it smelled different.
Maybe it was reformulated, or I got a bad bottle, but there is this harsh, unpleasantly boozy note that stands out and ruins it all. I've noticed that all Pacifica perfumes I've tried have some off note. With their Mexican Cocoa perfume, it's this sour note that is faint and easy to ignore, but the cheap booze smell in Island Vanilla just takes over the entire perfume.
Does anyone else get this, or did I just end up with an expired bottle?

june7rose

I think this has been reformulated, it's cooler than I remember, it's Vanille Insensee cool. My problem is that when I get a regular vanilla, price point doesn't matter, I say to myself I want something more complicated than straight up vanilla, then I buy something more complicated, and I say I can't smell the vanilla. :P This has got some other stuff in it like honey, a few fruits, and a tropical jasmine, but it's still 90% vanilla. I'm hoping it will fill in a gap for me that I have a hard time explaining -- a non-teenagery, non sugary, but not smoky or patchouli, sweet, but not baked goods sweet, vanilla. Hard to explain, harder to find.

rojoco

A nice, simple, cool vanilla without much longevity or sillage. A bit more mature for vanilla, not too cupcakey. Kudos to a Cruelty-free company. But I really prefer Lavanila.

dmaw

May be mind over matter because of the name, but I get some coconut.
Delicious, but it stays with you and gets cloying after awhile.

elliselove

This to me is a simple fragrance with few notes, and I actually enjoy it that way! This smells so good to me. I wish it was a bit cheaper in a larger bottle. I like it a lot. It's pretty easy on the nose in my opinion and that's good for the people around me.

mounen

I bought this on special as a solid. it's a very edible scent, I imagine it as a whipped cream, mixed with pineapple and vanilla

epiprocta

Four words: Body Fantasies Signature Vanilla. You can buy an 8oz bottle of it for 5 dollars, and it will be virtually indistinguishable from Island Vanilla.

morningviewangel99

I purchased the rollerball of this fragrance for my birthday. I wanted to love it, but I just don't. It's a warm vanilla with a hint of spice, but I'm mildly disappointed because I think Pacific's base has a fake, plasticy note that I don't like. It's happened with every single Pacifica scent I've tried, especially the candles. I tried the candles first and thought it was just something in the wax, but no, it's in the perfume too. Bummer. I've heard so many good things about Pacifica.

Emily Dictionary

I'm a vanilla lover but unfortunately, I don't love this fragrance. It's too sweet for me and there's a note in this that I find off-putting... Maybe it's the addition of the honey and fruit to the vanilla that smells off to me. I wish Pacifica would make a pure, natural smelling vanilla!

A lot of people don't realize that Pacifica does use a mix of natural and synthetic fragrances; their wording misleads people into believing they only use natural & essential oils, but this is not the case. However, their perfumes are free of parabens, pthalates, nitro-musks and other nasty things and are a safer choice than most other perfumes.

Something about the fruit and honey in this perfume makes it too sweet for me but I do enjoy the bar soap version, it's nice to get a burst of tropical fruity sweetness and it makes my bathroom smell amazing. I'd definitely consider bringing a bar of the soap along on my next vacation!

Acid

(Review for the alcohol version)

Just straight up synthetic vanilla and sugar/caramel notes. All very dry and sharp. I don't see how could they make a fragrance like this using only "natural ingredients from essential oils", as Pacifica claims.
That's interesting - in the bottle I could almost sense a real vanilla note, but that changed once I applied it to my skin. Pacifica's Island Vanilla is nothing like real vanilla in any way, not a single trace of the warmth, depth and earthy spiciness of raw vanilla beans (that is the smell I'm still searching for; I guess I'm better off just creating my own, using natural Vanilla Absolute), or even natural vanilla extracts.
Now, all of that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I was just expecting to find that natural vanilla bean scent in a natural fragrance.
I still think it's a great alternative if you are into sugary/caramel (just like the synthetic notes) fragrances. It reminds me of Pink Sugar by Aquolina in many ways (Aquolina is a lot stronger, though).
You can also layer it with other fragrances with good results.

Edit: probably because it's been colder lately, now I can smell some florals; they are still very, very light and are only present for the first hour or so.

The roller ball (alcohol) version usually lasts up to 6 hours, but after the initial 2 hours I can only sense that burnt sugar smell.

june7rose

Got this at Ulta today. A lovely, uncomplicated vanilla. I'm not even believing how long this is lasting -- hours, which is more than I get out of most vanillas at any price point. I wish more of her scents were availabe in more places. It's hard to find most of them.

ChristyCheryl

I thought I would love this because it would be sweet smelling. I bought the perfume, a lotion, and the diffuser when they were on sale; but it was a mistake. This smells like cooking vanilla for sure, but it also smells almost like a burnt smell - it makes me feel nauseous.

RhiannonB

It glides on smoothly and smells, well, rather unusual. I get a vague floral note (which, thank goodness, isn't jasmine to my nose) and a vague fruity note but it's mostly honeyed vanilla. A subtle, soft and graceful scent like a breeze hovering over your skin.

The vanilla/honey combo is rather creamy and a tad sweet. It's warm, islandy and oriental. It's young and happy. It's the quiet girl in the popular group on the beach who's just content to watch her friends antics and smile. It reminds me of summer and beach volleyball.

As it dries down to it's base I do get an almost green, tea aspect. It reminds me ever so slightly of Jua by Trilogy in the way that it handles a natural oil and that almost strange aspect. It's a little too soft for me with weak sillage and lasts only a couple of hours.

tessture

The other notes bring it away from simple vanilla perfume to something more complex. It is still fairly gourmand, but the added notes elevate it to perfume-status. I prefer my vanilla a little less perfumed, so I won't be buying this, even at the excellent price point, but it's a nice blend for those who want a little extra oomph to their vanilla

Flowercat

The first time I bought this, it seemed too heavy and spicy-vanilla, especially after time went on. Gave it away!
But last week I sniffed it, tried it, smelled it on my skin as I shopped, and couldn't stop sniffing my perfectly-blended sweet/vanilla wrist! After making sure it wasn't from the other Pacificas I'd tried, I bought it yet again--along with the tiny cream perfume canister--and am in love for sure! Maybe because now it's summer? Have they (or I) changed formulas? This courtship is harmonious...the lightness of the vanilla, the tenderness of the added fruitiness and florals...perfect joyful sweetness without going overboard. Glad I gave this one a second chance! Simple, pure beauty.

Cake10

I like this perfume, it changes and settles down very quickly on my skin. The first few seconds smell very citrusy, but then that note is completely gone. Next, it turns to a sugared floral, then a warm spun sugar with a hint of vanilla, which is where it stays with a vague hint of white floral in the background.

This isn't a rich vanilla extract scent, not on my skin and especially not in the bottle. When worn, it reminds me of the smell of a summer breeze at a fair when I'm downwind of a cotton candy machine.

It's a light fragrance and is a good choice for someone who likes sugary scents.

If you have a problem with vanilla turning to powder like I do, this is a good one to try. It's not powdery at all on me.

seaside

I thought I loved the scent of vanilla, but now I'm not too sure. I can appreciate sweet fragrances -- I love Prada Candy -- but this one just never stops. I smell nothing but vanilla -- loud, screaming vanilla.

I think I need to have my vanilla as a component and not as the star in my perfume. And of course, wouldn't you know it that the longevity on me was forever. Seems to be a perverse truth that the more you dislike a fragrance, the longer it hangs around.

I had my husband sniff it a few times, and his opinion never changed -- too sweet, too strong. For reference, he likes Prada Candy. In fact, I had him compare the two on me, and he, a connoisseur in training :-), said that he prefers Candy because he think it's a more complex perfume.

goofycaramel

Beautiful warm vanilla, with a little powder. I was hesitant to get this after seeing the "fruit" in the notes since I was concerned this would smell like some fruity concoction instead of pure vanilla, but this turns out to smell close to pure vanilla extract with a touch of honey, which is good in my book.

I like to layer this with Pacifica French Lilac to wind down before bed for a yummy, calming scent.

Nirhtuc

On me, I can smell everything except for the honey note. There's only a very slight trace of vanilla that I can detect- mostly, this is all 'island' and not enough vanilla. It's almost citrussy (I'm guessing these are the 'fruit' notes) and even green. Disappointing, because it does smell lovely in the bottle, but turned into something else on my skin. Fortunately, I only got a 5mL decant and not a full bottle.

Tovah

This is a dreamy, beautiful vanilla. Very much like Susanne Lang Midnight Orchid 72, but Pacifica has better lasting power, and it's less cloying. Pacifica's quality is excellent, and Island Vanilla is truly enchanting.

Perfumedsecrets

This perfume smells like heaven. I'm a big believer that some perfumes don't have to be complicated in the springtime, and this is one of those. It's a delicious vanilla, honey, and jasmine that isn't cloying or too gourmand/sweet. It smells nothing like Vanilla Bourbon from Yves Rocher, though. I have both and can tell they are like night and day.

Jassar

Cheapie but a goodie. My wife wears this occasionally and always gets compliments. She gets good longevity out of it. Not a heavy vanilla at all. Just a nice smelling, clean vanilla.

LisaMari

Nice, very sweet and warm like white chocolate.

mjd83

I bought Island Vanilla blind after reading several reviews. I got a great deal on a gift set that included the roller ball perfume, small body butter, and lip color. It was money well spent. I love this scent. It is yummy and indulgent. Definitely plan on order more soon!

smellym

I just bought this (could not find a tester) online and now it will go right back. The scent disappears immediately on me. I cannot smell it! I tried the cologne based on the more pleasantly smellable body wash I schnagged from a discount store. I can tell it is sweet and a bit juvenile, not that this alone bothers me. I am returning it because I want to be able to smell it! Even with my nose right to my wrist it is gone within minutes. Boo. Disappointed. I have other vanillas I love so I will stick with them.

tracy.debloistalley

Good God, I love this perfume. It's so rich and a strong and REAL vanilla. It's Tahitian Vanilla and smells so good. Everything in this Vanilla line is UNREAL. The silage isn't too strong, but you can smell it on yourself. It's so warm and rich. It has white honey in it as well, jasmine, tea, and fruity notes.

You really do not detect the other notes too much but they're in the background and just make this scent so unique. Such a gorgeous scent.

Scarlett2709

A light, simple, cozy, gentle tvanilla scent with hints of honey and white flowers. No screaming sillage, which I normally gravitate towards. This may become my "go to" when I want to do subtle and sexy, like a quiet night in with my man, snuggled up, with lit candles and a fleecy throw. He loves the smell of vanilla but doesn't realise that's what it is. When I wear anything with vanilla, i.e. Hypnotic Poison, JPG Classique EDP, Lush Vanillary, he just wants to nuzzle into me. He prefers this on me when I'm not wearing anything else, if you get my drift. There's very little complexity to this scent, it starts as it means to go on, and surprisingly I love it! Good value for money, pretty roll on bottle, perfect for little touch-ups. Not just a teen girl scent, us 40 somethings can work it on another level.

jadejoann4

This is a fantastic inexpensive scent. it is pure vanilla in the bakery, food way. Its not tropical at all. I smell only vanilla and no hint of white flower. The body cream smells JUST like beer to me. It smells like heineken to the tee. The fragrance of the fume last a pretty long time. Its a bit childlike but still a great casual scent.

2746cstreet

Island Vanilla is more about honey than vanilla on my skin. It smells like sweet tea with lemon. Very fresh and not at all cloying.
I only get the floral notes in cooler weather. Very, very mild white floral with an overall creamy feel. No fruit.

Jenge

I have Island Vanilla in the solid perfume and body butter. At first I was very disappointed in this because I wanted a rich, warm vanilla. I find it very light, simple and cool. It brings to mind the ladyfinger cookies used to make tiramisu. The only fruit I sense is a slight lemon, and no jasmine.

I am liking this more now that I've changed my expectations. It has good staying power, but nearly absent sillage. I think it would be a great scent to layer with others.

I have also tried Pacifica Malibu Lemon Blossom and feel that the two would compliment each other very well.

raw umber

Okay I'll admit it. I've been on a crazy vanilla hunt recently. After Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille recharged my hope for the note, I have been looking for an exceptional, affordable vanilla.

Pacifica Island Vanilla is everything I wanted. It has none of the artificial, "this isn't lime and vanilla, it's fruity plastic!" of Burberry Brit, Jessica Simpson Fancy, and even Viva la Juicy (my favorite of the vanillic generic trio.) It does not fly at your throat and sinuses and try to strangle you like Lush's Vanillary or Sud Pacifique's Vanille Extreme . It doesn't have that sugar on steroids quality that Pink Sugar has (fun, but not appropriate in many situations).

You do not have to wait for the dry down to love Island Vanilla. It's great from beginning to end.

Island Vanilla is milkier and more complex than the vanilla essential oils you might have resorted to after a long and dissapointing quest to find the affordable vanilla of your dreams.

This my friends, is honey vanilla paradise.

From the moment I sprayed Island Vanilla on my skin at whole Foods, I knew it was exactly what I wanted in a vanilla for $20/bottle. I normally can't stand Pacifica. Their Mexican Cocoa made me run to the nearest sink, and Wakiki makes me feel physically ill. Wakiki Pikake reminds me of car air freshener. But Island Vanilla is as far as I can tell (and I have smelled most of their fragrances) one of the few exceptions.

From the opening, Island Vanilla smells soft, sweet, milky, fresh, and damp. There is something very natural and intimate about it. The slight traces of fruitiness at the opening, as well as the absence of musk (thank God), and the absence of powder, all make me think of the flavored fruity vanilla milk I used to drink when I was in China nine years ago. The fruits are mere suggestions, the way wine can smell from leather without a belt strap soaking in it. It's not actual fruit smell. It's a fruity quality. Fruity as opposed to smoky, etc. but NOT actual fruits.

I say flavored milk, but this was NOT AT ALL like the super sugary brands of sweetened flavored milk in America. The flavored milk in China was not any one particular "fruit". It was just gently sweetened, with a very mild, ambiguously vanilla/fruity element. When imbibed straight from the refrigerator, it was so incredibly refreshing on a hot summer day. Summer vanilla at its best and most accessible!

Island vanilla is smooth, sweet but not too sweet, vaguely fruity, with a very prominent sweet milk note. The honey listed in the notes is like the vanilla bean ice cream drizzled with honey, that I use to eat as a girl. The ice cream would melt as the honey chilled and became chewy like caramel.

I straight up love Island Vanilla. This may sound corny, but when I first smelled it, I thought, it's a kiss from a beautiful girl who has been drinking vanilla milk!

I can't believe it has received so few reviews on this forum. I strongly encourage anyone that loves vanilla with access to this brand to go out and give it a try. It shocked me into buying it at first sniff, and I still love it just as much after wearing it for a solid week.

This would be amazing for layering, but I prefer it on it's own. While I am saving my money for a more upscale niche vanilla, I am thrilled and relieved to have this in my collection.

Sirenn

Wildly disappointed that I don't love this fragrance the way I wanted to. The notes sound so lovely!

Out of the Pacifica fragrances in my collection, Island Vanilla does seem to have some of the best staying power and silage, but sadly this vanilla just isn't for me. There's something too sweet about it, but not in a pure vanilla extract kind of way. I suspect it's the honey note that lends a synthetic, overly sweet aroma. It brings to mind a vanilla-honey version of Aquolina's Pink Sugar.

That said, it layers well with spicier scents, and it brings a nice touch of sweetness to Pacifica's Mexican Cocoa, which is otherwise a bit dusty/spicy on its own. Otherwise though, it's sadly unmemorable.

silagelover

This is my favorite vanilla scent so far, I love it for layering, it has mild sillage, stays very close to the skin, and moderate lasting power. Island vanilla smells like nearly pure vanilla extract, with some added sweetness that is balanced out be the tea and jasmine notes. It isn't quite a whipped cream & cupcakes type of vanilla but it is still quite delicious. It reminds me this french vanilla caramel infused black tea I got from the farmer's market a few years ago. Yummy. Also like all pacifica scents this offers great value for money.

zenbabylove

THE BEST vanilla scent! I use this a lot and I'm pleased that it is not synthetic and is paraben free. It's a true vanilla, the honey comes through soon after the first spritz and it's soft, alluring and very sweet.Anyone who likes B&B Works warm vanilla sugar and vanilla bean noel will appreciate this masterpiece.

shiverwithantici

This opens with a bright, tropical, citrusy pineapple note, and a drizzling of honey and vanilla (almost what I imagine Pineapple Upside Down Cake would smell like). The jasmine is present, but way in the background. This stage dissipates almost upon first experiencing it, and the fragrance morphs into a warmer, beautiful, honey-sweetened vanilla tea. Then, it makes the transition to Angel Food Cake (good call, Nemoturtle!), then leaves its last few traces of foody vanilla before making a discreet exit. This fragrance is very sweet and ever so slightly boozy, but not sickening, and surprisingly wearable for even the warmer months. Much to my delight, I get about 10 hours on my skin, though it only seems to project for the first few. But it passed my "Spray it at night, still smell it the next morning" test, so I'm satisfied :)

Overall, I am pretty impressed. This is so inexpensive, but doesn't smell cheap to me at all. The low price point and high quality are incentives enough to check out this line, but the company's ethos is just unbeatable. A very good blind buy, indeed!

WARNING: IF YOU DISLIKE SWEET SCENTED PERFUMES, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!

just saying...

Anyways, this perfume is INCREDIBLY sweet and sugary. I love it though! Recommended for young girls to ealy teens.

Harusha12

I have to say, I was very surprised when I smelled Island Vanilla for the first time. According to all of the reviews, I was expecting a slightly floral vanilla, and BAM...all I got was a boat-load of vanilla. No florals at ALL!

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just a bit unexpected.

I'm a huge fan of floral perfumes, and so I had to wait a bit to see if I liked this primarily vanilla scent. And after a week of owning it...I can't say for sure whether I love it. I like it, though. It's extremely soft - a few seconds after putting it on, I have to try hard to smell it properly - but it lasts for at least 5 hours on me.

The scent: VANILLA. Like, you know those bottles of pure vanilla extract? Yeah, this perfume smells mostly like that, but obviously not as intense. It's very, VERY sweet, so if you don't like sweet scents this is definitely not for you. Another smell I get from this is was (oddly enough) marshmallows and licorice. It's very very faint, but it's got that...ugh I don't know how to describe the smell of black licorice, but it's THAT smell. It's either marshmallow or licorice...just know it's got a very sweet, almost candy-like feel to it along with the vanilla.

I asked my little bro to smell it, and without hesitation he said "It smells like candy."

So to sum it up: in my opinion, Island Vanilla is a whole lot of awesome smelling vanilla with a hint of something very sweet, almost candy-like (I'm leaning toward marshmallows).

It's a warm, sweet smell...definitely a winter scent for me! Can't imagine wearing this in the summer -- it's WAYYYYY too sugary and soft for that!

sally.boxhall

Just got the roller ball today - & I LOVE it!!!!! Beautiful soft, slightly floral, sweet vanilla. Light enough for the summer (which is just what I wanted) but I can imagine it being a little too light for the winter. It is similar to Yves Rocher Vanille, but it has a fresher feel - I think Yves Rocher has a musky note which sets these two apart. This scent is the closest I have ever come to the wonderful aroma of the `Mock Orange` bush when in flower - gorgeous :) Now I would like the whole range of products in this line!
PS. The packaging is just sooo pretty from this brand & the price so reasonable, any of the products would make the perfect gift.

Update: If you have lots of perfumes & only use the roller balls occasionally, I would recommend getting the spray or solid instead - got mine out today & it has gone a rather funny colour & may be a little 'off', still smells ok on my skin but it doesn't look nice anymore. Whilst I haven't got this particular fragrance in solid I have 2 other Pacifica solids which seem to last & last - the first one may even be 2 yrs old now, just a thought.

jeanbean7777

Really BEAUTIFUL vanilla scent. I bought this with a small hand lotion and let me tell you-the lotion of this scent is divine. I love it. This vanilla is very rich and sweet. It's like a dessert. I don't really get too much floral. This is for those days when you know you want vanilla....or if you are like me NEED vanilla.....this is actually a vanilla that you could wear in the summer or winter. I love pacifica because it is more natural and doesn't contain all the chemicals and parabans that have been shown to cause cancers. Parabans have been found in breast cancer tumors when breasts are removed so I retro limit my exposure to them. This scent is really good. I consider it an everyday wearable scent. It's not strong. I don't know if its the best for an evening fragrance. I think I like it better during the day but its not inappropriate at night.this is a great price for this pretty fragrance.

susan1326

I have a collection of vanilla scents, from high end to less expensive ones. At the very reasonable price of Pacifica Island Vanilla, I expected to be underwhelmed by the scent itself. I was happily surprised at the depth and richness of it. One of those I-can't-stop-sniffing-my-wrists moments! It has quickly risen to be one of my favorites. I don't find much in the way of floral notes here. Just warm, luscious vanilla. A very pure take on an oriental vanilla scent.
Edit: Even at the end of the day, people ask me what scent I'm wearing. Thoroughly enjoying this fragrance!

Aspendina

Smells so amazing like vanilla ice cream and lasted a long time on my wrist, next time I am covering myself in this.

Nemoturtle

On me this smells very, VERY angel food cake. It's a super sweet vanilla & the "fruity" part is just barely present. I wouldn't say there is any tropical smell at all to it on me. I will note that the stuff I'm trying is a sample of the body butter, so it's like the actual perfume would smell slightly different on me. I don't hate this, but I don't particularly love it either. It's a bit sweeter than I normally like vanillas to be.

somnambulista

The "Island" in the title is very appropriate.
This is definitely a bright, fruity/floral vanilla rather than a warm/spicy vanilla. It has decent staying power and is pleasant enough, but isn't the distinctive scent I'm looking for.

AveParfum

This is a very fruity, tropical vanilla. It's sweet without being nauseating or suffocating. The fruit eases up a bit over time and a natural vanilla comes through more. I like to layer Pacifica fragrances, but Island Vanilla is really nice on its own.

BlueMoonRose

I love this one. My favorite of the Pacifica line, it is definitely different from the typical vanilla scent and I love the drydown. I also have LaVanila Pure Vanilla and like to layer them.

Carnelian

This is a very sweet vanilla, without being too "foody." Very much on the lighter side, does not have any muskiness or woodiness to weight it down. Waxy from the white flowers, although any florals in this don't stand out on their own. Not much complexity, typical lasting power of the Pacificas (decent.) I don't find this as interesting as some of their others. This frag reminds me a great deal of the Mexican Cocoa without the spices. This is NOT a rich, cuddly, winter-warm oriental vanilla, but a "beachy," fresh summer vanilla, so the name suits. Not unique, but great for folks who are not fans of more commercial frags.
