Love it♥️. It's an unusual smell but i like it. In the past there were perfumes made with an unique aroma. This is sweet, spicy and in the beginning i smell some mint.
Projection and longtivity are moderate not strong at least one my skin which eat perfume especially amber. I would wish that it had the strength of a power bomb because i love it uniqness. Well with my big bottle i can spray away.

While I feel this belongs in the same "clique" as Teatro Alla Scala and Scherrer 2, I actually think this has a similarity to POISON- hear me out. :)

I also get a plummy jammy sweet at first. It's like someone took parts of Poison and toned it down. Just the plum, jasmine, amber, honey/beeswax, and a bit of spice/incense. Now Poison is the goth queen supreme- Regine lacks the grape goth witch incense. But I feel Regine is the quiet likable sister to Poison. She was still born in the 80s, but she's more fun than her goth sis. (Poison takes herself too seriously)

Comes down to a beeswax with a light hint of the raspberry and incense of Ciara. Then I lost potency and went to bed. :) The next morning my shirt CLEARLY had perfume on it, but it was the drydown of all 80s/90s babies like Bijan/Joop/Scherrer 2/Red- ambery/musky/incensey.

I also have probs getting sillage/potency with this one. I think I have a 3rd version. From ebay, I see a Regine's Eau de Toilette sticker- prob first formula with a short ingredient list on the box. Then Inter Parfums Paris with still a fairly short ingredient list. (3 ingredients are the oldest) Inter Parfums has about 5-7 depending. This version may have spanned years to explain that.
Then Parfums & Beaute Paris- the longest ingredient avail but still not modern- indicating early 2000s? So I assume after that it went OOP.
Now, none of this is proof that reformulations or changes were made from 1989 to 2000+.

But the perfume addict in me wants to find a first version, they are out there. But when I got a cheap bottle of this years back, I got the 3rd version.

Regine is quite heavy with an almost plummy aspect, which makes it very 80'ties smelling. I don’t get any raspberries here, but more dried fruits like the ones in a christmas cake soaked in sweeter booze. There is a fruity jamminess that keeps lingering. Smells old-fashioned femme, but NOT femme fatale. More like someone, who wears big and loud colourful dresses, huge chunky jewelry, boas, heavy make-up and hats. It’s a little theatrical and quite cosy. I like it.

Adieu Régine...
Femme de la nuit qui vit au jour le jour....
Je n'aurais jamais eu le privilège de connaître ton parfum.... Hélas !

GirlOnFire

I can’t seem to get this one to last or project much at all on my skin, so either it was made to be this way or my skin is eating it up. It reminds me of Ted Lapidus in way, but it's more like a fruity Claude Montana Parfum de Peau and watered down. Or Aubusson Desirade.

I found this beauty in an antique stall while exploring on a weekend adventure with my husband. The first thing that hits me is a very animalic (almost urine) smell but it’s gone quickly so don’t let it frighten you. Then this big heady honey/beeswax fills the air. This isn’t for the light floral bubblegum scent lovers. This is old school vintage vibe for days. I’m smitten with this scent. There was a scent in the 80’s my mom wore and I cannot recall the name but this reminds me so much of that drinks and cards with friends “Southern Comfort” smell. Honey, bourbon, tobacco and just enough skank to take you back to the good ole days.

OMG, Regine's is a very complex perfume, very intense, very bomb, very giant, overpowering, dense, hot, burly and a lot of synonyms there which I can't remember, but are pertinent to his aromatic proposal!

The exit is very deceiving. For me, it opens very innocent with a note of fresh raspberries that refers to the smell of doll hair, the same as I feel in the innocent My Insolence by Guerlain, only with something more green, very aromatic, however, it only lasts for about 5 minutes at most then the bomb explodes.

In the middle notes appears a Honey bomb that has no size, something very big that bursts everywhere and joins a very high chord of Violet and almost dry ripe roses withering, and to finish completing it becomes more difficult yet, because it has a very dirty footprint in its dry down that alarms all over the place. The combination is not bad, but it is very different from anything you can imagine. Perfumes for the strong ones!

In the farewell he looks identical to the Sun of Jil Sander, who by the way am crazy swept by himself, for having been a loving gift from a brother of mine in perfumery, who I love him deeply and lives in the Germanic lands. From Sun it only has the name, but it carries a vibe of delicious sunscreen that exhales for hours and hours an ambery resinous aroma, staying as a second skin and bringing a sensation of intense comfort, in this one the same happens.

Definitely Regine's is a perfume for few wardrobes in this life. It takes humor and the right decision for the day when you think about dressing him, Regine's just.

Eons ago, my daughter gave me a small, gorgeous bottle of this magic juice. Although I'm not really a "patch" person (except for vintage Mauboussin, which I originally blind-bought for the cute pyramid-spinner bottle), this one became an instant favourite. As this was quite strong, and had amazing staying power, it took me a while to finish this mini.
Recently, I felt very nostalgic about the small life comforts I used to reach for when I felt sad and powerless about life circumstances, so I bought two of the Regine's minis on eBay (two different sellers/continents). When they finally arrived, much to my disappointment, the fragrances smelled nothing like the original bottle I had... They must have turned over time because both just smelled off, with one actually having the "cat piss" drydown while the other was more of a pure rubbing alcohol from start to finish (the colour of the juices was nearly identical, and didn't look watered down at all).
This happened to me before when I found the vintage Heaven Sent original by Helena Rubinstein; it reeked...
I think, this will be my lesson learned: enjoy the fragrance(s) while relatively fresh, and not decade(s) old, no matter how much you miss them.

lanaconstantinova

it smells like a thin and elegant leather glove in my imagination this glove is soaked in a tall intricate glass of some rich burgundy wine and next to is an enormous bouquet of white flowers ... I agree with the previous comment about leather.

mldaleali28

For me this one smells like an expensive leather bag where a vintage perfume has been spilled long time ago. I imagine this was the smell of 80’s rich upper class women.
LE: I just went through the other reviews and I wonder if we're smelling the same perfume. Can skin pH make such a huge difference, I don't know, anyway I own a vintage miniature and I cannot smell any raspberry or anything sweet, my perfume is not at all sweet, just smokey, waxy, incensey and leathery. There's a bit of honey but not the sweet synthetic stuff in nowadays perfumes, it's more like honeycomb smell after all the honey has been discarded, it's a dark natural honey smell and it's just a hint of it, not too much. White flowers are in the background. It's very vintage indeed, but it's definitely not cloying or sweet. At least, not on my skin.

MorganaM

I like this quite a lot. To me its a very light, summery, fun fragrance. Not what I would consider sophisticated or grand, but nice and fairly well-behaved. Throughout wear, I didn't really get any notes, or combination of notes that I found unpleasant or that I didn't like.

At dry-down, I'm getting a smokey incense quality that I really love. It would be a fun fragrance to wear to a music festival or outdoor concert if it just lasted a bit longer - not too edgy, but not quite tame either.

Can't say this one isn't somewhat complex and well-blended, but it doesn't last long or project well on me. Wish it lasted longer.

SumoTigerCat

Quite lovely, especially for those who enjoy an animalic vintage style fragrance. This reminds me very much of Krizia Teatro Alla Scala with musk standing in for the civet of TAS. It is nicely done, not at all synthetic. The honey is very natural, similar to Serge Lutens Miel de Bois, not too sweet... a bit wild.

Easily a third the price of a bottle of Teatro Alla Scala, so... why not give this sultry lady a whirl?

HollywoodNovaBaby

This Smells just like Vicky Tiel’s Siren. I love it!

TabledThoughts

A waxy amber blast to the olfactory!

This one doesn't take me back it slams me back to the late 60's/ early 70's when divorcees wore very short skirts in an uninhibited display of their new found sexual freedom or a blatant attempt to attract a new husband.

I purchased this perfume in homage to both my childhood memories and my love of France and French parfums. They are too proud to whisper.

I don't wear it. Unfortunately, it tends to give me a headache. I display the nifty bottle, though, and sniff the juice every now and again when feeling nostalgic.

UnearthlyApothecary

I was a bit worried about this one but turns out I am crazy about it! First you should know right off the bat that Regine DOES have a decidedly vintage vibe. Second, the only other time I’ve been this impressed with the true animalic honey note was in oil form (like Alkemia’s Miel de Sauvage et Tabac) this reminds me of several other perfumes in little ways the old school skank of Tabu, the church incense of John Galliano and the head shop feel of Tova Nirvana. There are little hints of something in Regines that recalls those to mind. The raspberry is quite dominant at first, a little tart then you get that skanky honey/beeswax this is the part that somewhat reads as church incense to me, the raspberry combined with the waxy honey. This one really is quite wonderful, very glad to have it in my collection.

Phantomias

A strange fragrance in an unusual bottle, that's R. There's supposed to be beeswax and honey but all I get at the opening is sweet tobacco. Maybe it's the reformulated version because this perfume doesn't resemble anything on the pyramid. It's not bad, but it's not what it's supposed to be. Pity, beeswax and honey are big faves.
Modest sillage and lasting power. Unisex and work safe.

xmelldefrag

For an edt... This fragrance is really potent. It lasts 8 hours or so, with above medium silage. I think though it's said thy it's an edt, actually it's an edp.

I had no idea how the scent would turn out, I bought this because its price was cheap. And im so glad i did. For me the prominent notes are beeswax, jasmine and tonka bean... And yes it feels vintage, a good quality perfume from the past.

DulciusExAsperis

Testing this one for the first time today... the first sniff is gorgeous! Syrupy floral honey with pronounced beeswax, just lovely. A big deep retro spicy-sweet mood.

Unfortunately my skin hates jasmine and as the jasmine note begins to emerge, it starts to smell like bathroom cleaner on me.

This was *almost* a love... if the jasmine was replaced by any other white flower i could see myself buying a bottle right away.

*edited to add* whooooo this is strong. I put a dab on each wrist and a couple hours later it's still going VERY strong. I keep catching whiffs. My skin does amp jasmine but still, if you are in the market for a sweet retro beast you should check this one out.

Sherihan

Im testing my bottle (a new formula) and it reminded me of my beloved Fiorilu by Pupa...but maybe this one is more on the woody/earthy solid side, and Pupa’s is more airy/etherial and delicate. It is best suited to be sprayed on fabric, in this way you will be able to smell the childish/waxy/honeyed notes...

HOUSTONHOUSTON

Sold at Walmart but does nor smell cheap. Prominent honey/bees wax note. Sweet. Reminded me a smell of a Soviet (USSR) paint for kids art. :) Maybe because that paint was also made with honey. I wont buy a full size bottle but I rather like it. Cheapie worth trying. At certain point reminded me Venecia by Laura Biagiotti.

PLUMPIE

Lovely powdery-rose, honey-beeswax concoction. Unfortunately it smells a bit dated like a bowl of rose potpourri on my skin, but I can imagine its a very beautiful scent if it suits your skin chemistry.

Reminds me a lot of the reformulated Rumba - maybe if you like that one give this a try - it's a cheap thrill.

kati77

Retro scent, very deep, angelic, ambery and sweet.
Great sillage. Too strong for me, i am surprised but it is true. Great gem thou

Albertos

This is a wonderful retro as unisex! very french fragrance, old perfumery school. She is like a scarf, beautiful honey, jasmine and vanilla is all I like! great for any time. I am enchanted by the smell and its durability! more such smells. 5 stars for france. I recommend !. I love him as a man. STUNNING!

PLUMPIE

Powdery, beeswaxy rose, incense smokey and honey but the plastic doll note kills it for and just gives me a headache. Cool bottle!

gazelle

I've been shopping for a perfume that smells similar to Krizia Teatro Alla Scala. These two are very close with my chemistry. VERY close. It must be the honeycomb, musk, rose, and patchouli, which both formulations share. Compared to the prohibitive prices for Teatro, I can still find affordable bottles of Regine's on eBay. It's less potent than Teatro, but I'll just reapply. I think I can wear it this coming spring and summer.

nguyenvuhungvuong

Buy it again on Amazon today. The colour is too dark and smell like old perfume. So disappointed. The first one is from my friend and it's really good but the second one is a disaster. If you want to buy this don't buy on Amazon.com.

rhaineclayton

I wasn't sure what to make of this on first application. But when it dries down it is wonderful.
If you like perfumes in the style of Molinard Musc or Joop, this would be right up your alley.
That said, if you have either of those, you might not need this one...unless you are craving a bit of a beeswax untertone.

Hollie

I stumbled upon Regine last week while perusing a well loved perfume buying site. I have NEVER heard of it before....seems that so many are familiar with it. I was immediately intrigued by the bottle so I hopped on over here to check out the notes. Sounded delicious! I received my package today ( I know you all know that feeling of suspense and delight in waiting for your packages!!) I had ordered a couple others but opened this one first. I even love the packaging...reminds me of metallic wallpaper from the seventies! So...I gave it a spritz....and.....ahhhh.....ohhhh....mmmmm!! What a deliciously smoky little treat this one is! I see that the notes list beeswax, not honey...yet I see a lot of mention of honey. I don't smell honey......sweet? Yes...but not honey sweet. Beeswax is a different smell from honey and I totally love it.....I sadly don't smell it here either...at least not as a stand out note. What I do smell is tobacco...tobacco...tobacco! A sweet, smooth, smokey stogie that's been steeping in thick amber and vanilla with just a hint of rasberry. Reminds me of my Grandpa! Maybe the new formulation ( which I suspect I have) is that much different....I would have liked to have been able to smell the beeswax but I'm happy with whatever this has evolved into...especially since I am unfamiliar with the vintage version. It seems to have really lovely sillage ( I'm in a cloud of yumminess right now that is jussssst right...not too loud...not too soft). It's good....reminds me a bit of Lalique Le Parfum.

gtabasso

$11/bottle. Holy hell. It is really soft with no projection at all but at that price you can bathe in it. It goes on like the scent of an unlit cigarette, that sweet tobacco smell. Then, as it dried down the honey notes come forward. I don't usually like sweet, soft or gourmand but this is a YES for me on a blind buy.

Angela Agiannidou

Totally bewitching! Honey, Amber and tonka create the most harmonious concoction I have smelled recently! At first it bursts with something very animalic, almost civet like and develops into a resinous, soft, sweet beauty. I just couldn't keep my wrist away from my nose, totally intoxicating. There is a Smoky element beneath that goes well with the rest of the notes, I usually don't care for raspberry but here is masterly used to moderate the sirupy animalic sweetness of beeswax. Very good sillage and longevity, for me it's a cold weather scent, but it can depend on the skin. So glad I got it and I have to thank my dear Fragranticans for this beautiful juice as their reviews helped a great deal. A great addition to any wardrobe.

MadeiraD

Glorious glamorous honey incense rich hippie sexiness. It's 30s by way of the 70s biba glam rock sin in a bottle and oh my god I am so in love.

Planet_X

Where East meets West or the fragrance of the Queen Bee.

Dear passionata20, because of your passionate review I went for a blind buy and..put it among my favourites.

What a structure with micro-layers and nuances. I felt like I live in a hive and been fed by a royal jelly.

It is incredible juice, natural, dense, 24-hours lasting, with each few hours smelling more and more beautiful. Every ingredient knows it's role and impresses here, within the most natural beeswax lives deep, sweetened by raspberry Rose, it breathes out amazing type of an amber. To me it is like ancient candle-warmth of Dana Tabu meets modern medicinal amber in Gaultier 2, that creates warm, erotic sweetness. Also boozy loud start of vintage Rumba by Balenciaga. But the fact is that Regine does her own thing, this juice is so consistent and full of life - that it does not require our comparisons with any others. I Am chuffed, what a great find indeed!

bapita

Beeswax/honey and amber with spices - there is nothing fresh and nothing sexy about this, but plenty of cloying and sticky. It might be better in cold weather - but I like to smell either fresh or sexy or delicious even in winter, so I'll pass.

HORACIOAG

i don't see the masculine version, REGINE´S POUR HOMME, I use it, wonderful woodly, masculine and pungent fragrance

Schurrles

This is a nice, old, yet lovely fragrance. I wasn't sure of what to expect ordering Regine's parfum after reading the reviews.

I resigned myself to fate, whatever would be would be.

But then it arrived today and I'm loving it. It's a rich perfume, very sweet and ambery and for older women. So I'll be gifting this to my mum. And I'm sure she'll love.

Gosh the dry down is so lovely I keep smelling my wrist. Need I add that I have Regine's on my right wrist and Toni Gard for women by Toni Gard on my left. I can't tell where the one ends and the other begins. I could perfectly use the two together.

Tiger84

I couldn't resist the very cheap price and good reviews on this one. It arrived today.

The packaging is huge, and very lovely, it reminds me of a peacock. Looking at the box makes me feel cheerful and happy, it is very decorative.
The bottle is pretty cool as well.
The juice is old school in the best meaning of the word.
It reminds me to Samsara. A bit sweeter (never gets too sweet, stays in good balance) and boozier and less woody but very similar on my skin, to my nose. Hard to believe because Samsara is such an amazing quality scent. Also hard to believe because they only share few notes. I will soon try them on my arms for a better comparison.
Samsara can very well be considered a queen among fragrances, and I get the feeling this one is not called Regine without a reason.

Update: With Samsara on one arm and Regine's on the other they are less similar... this is much sweeter while the other blends in my skin in a refined way. Seems their similarities cancel each other out to my nose, and the sweetness emerges from it.

New update: My nose makes a real fool of me, or, rather,y the way my brain is wired. This is nothing like Samsara. However, this doesn't make it any less, they are just different, amazing scents.
So, Regine's is opulent, rich, heady, like golden honey drops, with a deep animalistic, slightly smoky murmur. Today it was more animalic than its notes would suggest. Lasts for a full day.

AmazonGrace

I had the original formulation of this in the late 1990s, but the reformulation to my nose is a completely different beast. The new formulation, to my nose, is very synthetic and has nothing natural about the notes. It's a sort of chemical cacophony, discordant notes that aren't even slightly close to a "dupe" of the original.

Sure, with IFRA and all the new regulations now: this is common for reformulations to not be quite as they were. However: the cheap price on this particular reformulation doesn't even merit a place in my "ultra casual" collection.

To be fair: maybe I bought an "off" bottle, but I'm not sure I want to spend even USD 12$ to give this another try. I bought my bottle BNIB from a reputable website where I often buy other fragrances. Maybe I'll try a sample for comparison to my bottle if ever I have the chance.

I have been trying to find a vintage, but apparently they are quite elusive, in my own experience.

The original was a robust, lush, and succulent bouquet of white florals, kept calm and not overly-sweet by the patchouli and a bit of a dry, semi-salty amber. Yes, it was a sillage monster, and yes: it lasted for 10+ hours on my skin. (Would you expect differently coming from Regine)? ;)

Still: applied with a light hand, or walking through a mist of this in the air? Marvelous. Not an every day type of fragrance in my opinion.

I will still most certainly buy a vintage if I can find one, but for now? I choose to stay far and away from the new, reformulated edition.

miki68

This perfume reminds me of an old russian cheap perfume. It's overwhelmed but not in a good way.

kera_5j

Perhaps in order to appreciate this scent you have to have a different scent background/exposure. I'm early 30's, and have grown up loving well layered, organically composed scents that lack the synthetic punch this perfume is packing.
This stuff, to put it diplomatically, is an acquired taste. If your taste runs toward synthetic, acridly composed drugstore perfume, then this is a jackpot.

In purchasing some perfumes online I added this to my order, since it was very cheap. Just opened and sniffed it, and I am not a fan. I'm pretty open to all scents, with a weakness for woody-floral scents, but this is not something I'd use even as a room spray. It is also beyond CLOYING. Reminds me of the scent I'd expect to come across in a cheap nail salon...

Migalex

I bought a bottle of this perfume online because I remember it from decades ago when there was an add with a bottle in a bowl with ice cubes. I remember trying it and liking it. I am very sentimental about scents I have known for a long time. I do not remember the scent though and did not open my 100 ml bottle yet. I like keeping the expectation. I also find the bottle very beautiful.

16. may 2013

Let me just start by saying simply: i have a lot of love for this perfume! And it happened by accident!

I have never heard of "Regine" and her perfumes in my life. Yes, i have stumbled upon them here on Fragrantica, but somehow neither the bottle nor the notes impresed me much to search for it. Then one day i was buying as usual in bulk and the seller had 100ml EDT (vintage!!) that has been on sale for a long time and nobody seemed to be interested in it, so i grabed it, because it was only 10 eur because i never seem to refuse on a good deal for a huge amount of perfume (now i know how lucky i am!). Didn´t expect nothing at all, i thought it would be some old fashioned pefume of not a very good quality, since the house is not famous and perfume seemed to be not very popular. I thought it was some kind of a drugstore perfume.

Oh, this happy moment when i unpacked my parcel and took out this huge bottle. Let me start by saying first,t hat the bottle is huge and in real life a very beautiful one. Honestly, i rarely admire bottles, but this one impresses me in a good way. The lid slides very smoothly up and down. That is very pleasant.

But the fragrance is simply amazing! I don´t know what happened to miniature, that user below reviewed, maybe it was refilled with something else or just gone off? My vintage juice is completly intact. And it is extremly gorgeous. I am very much surprised that the tuberose is not listed amongst the notes, i swear i can smell it in perfume. Either my nose is letting me down, or the notes are incorrect, however i checked their website and the notes listed there are the same). Very strange. Let me tell you one thing: i have a huge collection and i have a lot of heavy orientals and florals, i love florals, tuberose and i have many of those but this perfume is really perfect. The composition is very well balanced, it is sweet - yes, it is on the heavier side - yes, it has a bit of animalistic notes - yes, but all this is blended into a wonderful bouquet. It reminded me very much of another great perfume - "Moments" by P.Presley, almost the same feeling, but honestly "Regine´s" is way much better for me. Somehow it lacks that harsh tuberose and agressive animalistic note, that is present in "Moments" in EDP and yet it is more intense than EDT of "Moments". Of course they are not the same completly, but they are definitly similar.
The longevity is brilliant, up to 24hrs for EDT and has also great sillage. I do believe that this perfume is not that much enjoyable in more humid climate than here up north, and is absolutly perfect for colder days, however just today when i wasn´t feeling well and wasn´t in a good mood i thought i will wear it again and it was almost 20degrees Celsius outside, so at first i was afraid it won´t work well but it did actually. But still i believe this is more suitable for autumn-winter-early spring time.

I also have a 15ml bottle of pure parfum, named "structure de parfum" and it has an amazing lasting power: just one dab beghind the ears lasts for 12 hrs and it is even more deeper version of the fragrance in EDT. The juice is really the same, but more intense, more lush, a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I am really lucky to being able to experience this beauty.

P.S. This fragrance is not discontinued, it is featured on their official web-site and even on " cheap smells" website (you know which one, right). Most probably it has been reformulated, maybe even ruined, i don´t know. All i know is this perfect creation is a true gem in my collection.

UPDATE: (11.september 2013) Based on the few reviews on here i guess this gem isn´ twell known or just too outdated for the main public, but i keep on enjoying this perfume very much. You know, just recently i purchased another bottle of Cartier´s "Panthere" in vintage parfum de toilette formula and the smell of vintage Panthere somehow reminds me of Regine´s as well. the drydown has a lot in common. Regine ´s however is cheaper and much softer. I also get compliments for my choice of this perfume and that means people like it. Heavy floral oriental lovers should defenitly at least try this one.

kamisis

parfum méconnu,c'est certes un oriental mais si cocon si enveloppant l'odeur en est exquise addictive une belle réussite un parfum classe et cocon en même temps.

silverbutterfly

It is very sweet pleasant perfume, rosy and ambery.it is not in production anymore, but I saw it at one store, and smelled there. That is why I decided to make a review, as I would like to buy it.
