I really don't know why this gets so much hate. It's honestly not bad at all. It's a slightly funky, powdery, white floral Fragrance. The white florals are very heady. This is a touch sour, and leans a bit vintage.

This smells like a more wearable version of YSL Opium EDT 2009. The mid and dry down is very similar, it's just much softer and easier to wear.

Harley522

I’m a Prince fan, so I bought it for that reason. The negative reviews made me afraid I wouldn’t like this perfume. But I ended up happily finishing the whole bottle of this perfume. It’s not so bad. It’s certainly not the best white floral, but it’s wearable. I bought myself another bottle just for the memory of Prince.

Starlight_moon

I was really hoping that I would be one of the few who actually likes this fragrance, but unfortunately, it's a big no from me as well.
The perfume smells so awful, no wonder Prince refused to promote it to the point of breaching contract obligations and paying $4 mil in penalties to the manufacturer.
It's hard to believe that he approved it.
I guess the good news for the people who mght like it is this fragrance is long-lasting and has good projection, and leans unisex/masculine although in my personal opinion, this is not an attractive scent for a woman.

juniemoon

I like this very much. Not getting that funk everyone is complaining about. This is quite feminine on me. I'm getting tuberose, jasmine, cedar and bergamot. It works well with my chemistry and I'm enjoying wearing it, go figure lol.

"My name is Prince & I am funky!" & according to many of these reviews this smells funky.. in the American sense of bad..
I am here because I saw this on Ebay for fourteen quid. Not very much for a long dead scent from slightly less long dead superstar.. Bottle reminds me of Truth or Dare. 2007 release.. that's a long time to be sat on a shelf who knows where.. I'm curious but probly won't bite this time. Prince RIP x

It doesn’t smell nice when you first spray it. They should have used a cleaner musk. That said, this does not smell too bad if you let it dry instead of panic scrubbing it off. This is NOT something I would want to wear often. Picture this scene: You go to your mom’s house for Christmas dinner. She’s got a number of poinsettias in the house and wreaths with real flower accents, giving a bit of a floral smell to the air. She has a generic “winter” candle burning explaining the kind of woody, powdery, musky, patchouli smell. She also invested in a real tree this year, and you definitely smell it.

THAT is what this smells like to me. Combine all of those smells. Since it reminds me so much of Christmas trees and scented candles with “flannel” or “sweater” in the name, I would probably only wear this for a holiday. It’s so strong that I think it would help cover the “I’ve been cooking all day” smell.

Do I think you’ll love it? No. It’s it automatically sexy because it has musk and patchouli? No. Does the ylang ylang give it a slightly mature and powdery smell? Yes. Finally, it smells like an intentionally unisex fragrance. On a man, I think the cedar would come out strong. On a woman, I think it would dry down more powdery or floral.

I blind bought this one a few years ago and hated it upon first whiff. I decided to give it another chance tonight (when I knew I wouldn't be leaving the house!). My opinion hadn't changed. Terrible. Prince was an amazingly talented man but not when it comes to creating a scent!

TheMunchkinlander

I got a 7ml version of this just so I could try for myself if all the graphic comments below were not just hyperbole. I've read reviews before of perfumes that made people "gag" or "desperately scrub it off" their skin that I have actually liked. That's the beauty of diversity in the world of perfumery.
But then I got to smell this.
The first spray is off-putting enough, but then it just manages to worsen as it settles on this disturbing smell of PUBLIC BATHROOMS. I cannot explain the scent apart from dry urine covered with cheap soap. I've tried it on paper, thinking that maybe it was "bad skin chemistry", but it didn't get better than the smell of the unisex restrooms in whatever convenience store you manage to stop at in the middle of the road.
I'm giving it to my sister for her birthday as a prank. That's the best use I could find for this.

SimplyShandi

YIKES. I'm a sucker for celebrity frags, and the notes made it sound right up my alley. I don't get any white floral, citrus, or woody notes like I hoped. All I can smell is sweaty man ass... quite possibly one of the worst perfumes I've ever smelt. And it lasts FOREVER... I had such high hopes for this and its a major FAIL

kiraagold

3121 is a decent album, in the top third of the stack by the Great Purple One, but the fragrance is a total flop.

“Black Sweat” was an early single and a good song, a bit of a throwback to “Kiss,” but the dark sweaty notes this opens with are not kissable at all–they’re fetid body odor and lime shaving cream.
Eventually settles to grubby white flower musk, in an invasion of personal space for most of the day–a reflection of “Lolita,” perhaps–sweet, too young and weirdly dirty and desperate.
Sadly, rather than “Incense and Candles,” this finishes with sawdust funk and murky patchouli.

Download the album, skip the perfume.

This is what your professor from Descriptive Writing 101 meant when they said "make it visual, ladies and gentlemen, make it VISUAL"
From the review right below mine; "The musk in this smells like sneezy ASS, intense full body SWEAT, and singe'd musky man-crotch hair" That visual enough for you? Whoever wrote that, bra~vo.

Anjolena

This smells like that super ugly, creepy guy you avoid, who got his confidence up one day, put this cologne on, and tries to flirt with you... but he naturally smells bad even from a distance, so this obnoxious scent mixed with his B.O. is so repulsive you can't hold your breath long enough to excuse yourself.

The musk in this is exactly what you NEVER want to smell like. The musk in this smells like sneezy ASS, intense full body SWEAT, and singe'd musky man-crotch hair

micaiahty

I love Prince with all my heart. I promise you if you cut me i bleed purple.

I bought this just for the fact that it was his and i have loved him for almost 32 years.. with that being said, this perfume is interesting just like him. I pray that he didnt smell like this in person because the initial spray smelled down right aweful.. almost like bug spray. Once it settles down it's now so bad. I cant even tell you where I would wear this scent. I wouldnt even wear it to bed. I will chalk it up as just something nice to have that was something he created. It is definitely going on shelf for decoration.

TabledThoughts

My appreciation of Prince stems from dancing my ass off to his music back in the 80's. It got me on the dance floor faster than you could order another slo gin fizz.

I recently purchased this perfume out of sentimentality and I wanted to discover, in a total blind buy, if his idea of what smelled good matched his idea of what sounded good.

The take-away?

I'll still dance to some of his funky numbers and think purple when I do but I will not be wearing this fragrance then or ever.

Blech! What a gawd-awful mess.
Cheap, Tacky, Nightclub cologne smell.
Ain't nothin' sexy or appealing about this one.
No wonder he refused to endorse it..
too embarrassing (even though he apparently liked it).

On the upside, I do like the bottle. Very cool.

So..RIP and thanks for the funky jams, Prince Rogers.

~Peace Out~

The first initial spray smells like cheap, 70s men's cologne...It's almost like when middle school males discover cologne and they spray themselves so silly it makes you wanna choke...

The cedar is there, but so is some weird soapy and loud note...

I think I'm gonna to have to scrub this one off...

GardeniaLover

This is a very strong perfume, please use lightly or spray below your breathing area. It is oily, thick, well-concentrated perfume, not recommended for closed spaces or people with allergies or asthma, it might just be too overpowering for many. That said, it seems it is very well made...
I love the tuberose/gardenia accord, mixed with piercing cedar and strong musk, a bergamot so fresh over it. I love, love this scent, it is a hidden gem, a delightful, delicious, sexy, beautiful, bitter-sweet scent. It smells unisex and dreamy. To me, it is a divine concoction, tuberose, cedar, bergamot, vanilla, it's dark yet light, masculine yet feminine, sweet yet bitter, simply must have.

johnsmithaffairs

Smells like BO, male BO, in a good way, sexy, romantic BO, a guy's hug sort of BO. A tuberose bouquet in a cedar, musk vase, dipped in bergamot water.
The tuberose and bergamot combination is so sexy, with that strong musk and cedar, this is masculine, romantic, sensual, I adore this scent and brings me to my knees with that fleshy tuberose and all those notes.

AaronStar

Lots of patchouli, musk, cedar, and lots of bergamot. Very masculine, the florals are faint. This is no feminine white floral, but a masculine one, green with patchouli and bergamot, strong with musk and cedar, the florals are only there for an accent, jasmine is very present, gardenia is there, but they are backup vocals.

Overall it is fresh, bittersweet fresh and musky, I do enjoy the citrusy bergamot, the whole scent seems blended well in the explained manner. It is sexy, exotic and enticing in its own sense...a masculine one.

The patchouli should be way up in votes along with bergamot. In front, big, minty, herbaceous, earthly patch with big, crisp bergamot, then fresh jasmine and blooming gardenia, carnal tuberose all wrapped in a very strong musk and cedar, I love it. I was not too familiar with patchouli, I am now, I read Prince liked patchouli somewhere.

I am getting more tuberose I believe, lovely strong tuberose, patchouli dipped in bergamot juice. I would like to smell this in a man. I re-read the reviews and they all seem to agree on many points stated, I can assure you the many posted are true. This is a real perfume, it is mighty strong and oily.

GardeniaLover

The initial blast was bergamot and musk, with white flowers following it, tuberose and neroli, patch and other notes.I do sense the cedar but it is not as strong as the bergamot that makes it fresh, the white flowers are there blended together but are not center stage. The front is still bergamot and musk. I think the bergamot is what others say makes it seem like cleaning liquid.

I think I may have gotten a spoiled sample though, it just feels like it falls flat, I purchased a tester without a cap. I feel dim, I had to spray twice, overall it smells citrusy, lemon-like, the bergamot is so strong, and so is the musk, it does have a masculine feel to it for certain, definitely gearing towards masculine this one.

The desired white florals are just too quiet in the background. Cedar, bergamot and faint gardenia, patchouli lingering, very masculine, very dim.
The florals are there, gardenia, faint tuberose, and neroli, they are there indeed, blended, yes blended, but they are so light and quiet. I can sense them and they are nice, they are. sometimes white florals can become cloudy.

I am disappointed, I have to buy a non-tester to try again, this is not what I was expecting, it is ok just not what I desired. There is citronella, I catch it quickly, as it is used in bug sprays too, citronella is so there. The bottle reminds me of the versace dreamer. It is somewhat strong or there is a synthetic quality to it that made me a bit uneasy or irritated when inhaling it, beware!

I would say it is a lemony, musky, woody, white floral, in that order. I do feel my bottle has turned, but I understand the pretended scent, in the right condition, I think it would be a very nice. I get the idea and I love it, woodsy, musky, fresh, white floral, with bittersweet facets. You can sense it in the dry down.

I realize after the dry down, I adore it, the bergamot is actual the citrus sweet kick to it, and you have to accept it. it kinda smells like Prince after a long night singing, sort of a musky male thing, skin scent, but dreamy, I love it.
I think his decision in choosing a low key manufacturer and poor designer, was his mistake, no wonder all the issues and chaos ensued.

AaronStar

The notes are very similar to Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs, the cedar, the gardenia, the tuberose, they are alike if not the same, I am sure their scent is different.

I have to try both at the same time, it is good to know these things so one can purchase less expensive alternatives, knowing what notes one desires to have.

Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs

GardeniaLover

I've read he was involved in the making of the perfume, which is itself a bit androgynous, with floral and musky facets.

Both male and female, cedar and musk are the most masculine notes I know and gardenia and tuberose the most feminine.

If the prince of funk was so involved, why did he later deny it and refused to promote it? He was sued and settled out of court with the manufacturer.

I love white florals mixed with woody, musky notes, and this is a hidden treasure, I cannot wait to try it out.

I bought it today, I could not hold myself back, the gardenia, the tuberose, the cedar and musk, and yes Prince himself, such a lively, colorful, passionate individual. I feel joy and will post a review later. The designer, Adriana Medina does not have a very strong creation resume, so I truly hope Prince was really behind it all, picking the notes as I read he was.

He did choose a small perfumery company on purpose, so that may have played a role in choosing the designer, articles do state he was personally involved in its creation so he may have picked the notes himself.
I love cedarwood and musk as truly masculine delights, and tuberose/gardenia as beautiful and sensually delicate, it seems a versatile fragrance just like Prince was, masculine and feminine.

Bigsly

Jacques Bogart's Arabian Nights EdT is like the "masculine" version of this one, for those interested (just beware that there is no Arabian Nights EdP by JB, but instead some companies are selling one made by another company as such).

3121 at first sniff is off putting. It smells like hairspray or a cleaning product.I guess it must be the combination of the white florals with the bergamot. You smell it again and again to figure out why this perfume is so wrong.
BUT a few hours later it's wood qualities come front stage. Its like a play in two acts. The second part of 3121 is divine. A classy wood smell with magnolia and musk. Deep, soft, calming and multidimentional.

I had 3121 sitting in a drawer for months and I decided to give it a last try and see how it will develop without wiping it off. 5 hours after I had sprayed it on my wrist I had forgoten I was wearing it and I was trying to figure out where that awesome woody smell comes from.
This way I found out that it has and extreme longevity and heavy sillage.

Give it a try. After all, it is dirt cheap nowadays and as Prince created item can considered a collectible.

Lake Girl B.C.

Reminds me of Pheromone.

kiristarr

I don't get any florals from 3121. I get some bergamot and primarily a heavy musk. I like white florals, so I'm definitely disappointed that they don't show up for me at all, which is actually very surprising. The sillage and longevity here are no joke though. I wish some of my expensive frags lasted this long. I love Prince, and the box is gorgeous, so I will hold onto 3121, but the scent isn't really for me.

PLUMPIE

This is right on the current tuberose trend even though none is listed it could be the gardenia. It actually reminds me of Gucci Bloom but it is somewhat less screechy. The musky woody base makes the sweetness of the tuberose round out nicely and it is very wearable for warmer weather.

minizelda

The shape of the body cream looks exactly like Kimora Lee Simmons' Fabulosity one.

Bigsly

Definitely some tuberose at first, along with a 70s hair product type "synthetic" element. Then, as another reviewer said, it calms down considerably within 20 minutes or so (and smells more or less natural). I get the "hand soap" idea, and mine is also that pale grayish purple (probably changes color over time, which is not unusual). But it's not like other "celebuscents," and in fact harkens back to much older scents marketed to women. However, I can also understand how some would think of it as a kind of "feminine" or unisex version of Kouros - it depends upon what you are focusing on, I'd guess. The wood does provide a light incense type quality, so I'd say the drydown is like a sort old fashioned soap with a hint of incense. Anyway, an ebay seller had testers at less than $10 total for 100 ml, new, so I'm not going to complain. I only did a dab sample just above the ankle and I look forward to a regular wearing.

charlee

I'm definitely in the "I love Prince and wanted to love his fragrance...but I just couldn't" club. I've had my bottle for many years, but seldom reach for it to wear as it was always too sharp and masculine for me (but whoa, one spray will last DAYS). It always reminded me of SOMETHING, but I couldn't place it until recently:

This is 100% Yankee Candle Midsummer's Night on me. Seriously, my friend has a Carjar of it and the car smells exactly like 3121. I looked up the details of the Midsummer's Night scent, and the candle actually contains notes of patchouli, cedarwood, bergamot, and is described as masculine.

I think that explains why a few people have used their 3121 as an air-freshener. It just has that scented candle vibe for some of us.

Eau de Nikita

I tried to like this but finally ended up spraying it in my car bathrooms air curtains residents at work; any opportunity I had to get rid of the scent

Starlett_Sexton

This is such a clean and beautiful fragrance it last long also way to go Prince. Longevity is great.

atlaseetschristmas

I wonder if my 7 dollar internet-sourced 3.4 ounce bottle of this might be a little on the turned side. First of all, the juice is a sickly grey-ish tone (in contrast to the rich purple ive seen in most photos) but second of all, it lasts a whopping 20 minutes on me.

It's a faint white floral with some cedar, hardly prince-like (sexy, androgynous, funky) and more like something my mother might buy as kitchen hand soap. I dont detect any animalic funk or anything of the sort. I guess it is androgynous in a way, but not in an especially interesting way, more in the way that clean smells are generally pleasant regardless of context.

Maybe it's just off, I would love some animalic white floral-cedar bomb to wear while listening to some prince. Oh well, this is what it smells like when doves cry.

roselovr2004

Have had my 3121 since last (2016) summer. I hear it's a bit older and out-of-production, but I feel that my bottles have stayed pretty true, based on reading review after review of this stuff. I love this stuff, and, although I wear it to work quite a bit, no one else seems to notice a couple spritzes but me, so the sillage might not be what it used to be. PRN has inspired me, through 3121, to become more of a perfume nut! I get on Fragrantica and read all about these great fragrances! Someone said, "this reminds me of a stick of nag champa before it's lit," and that is my favorite thing about the 3121, its incensey dry-down. (Hear that he loved incensey frags!) I do have to admit the white florals are strong at first. Give it time to develop.

Alces Alces

3121 opens with great quantities of bergamot. The bergamot transitions into a jasmine/gardenia bouquet which remains oddly soft for a white floral. Sandalwood and cedar support the base and give this an oddly masculine, almost barbershop quality.
After about an hour it mellows to orange blossom, gardenia. and cedar, a great combination but nothing unusual. This scent is enjoyable but in the end a bit of a disappointment in that one expects extreme originality and creativity from anything associated with Prince. Just hearing that Prince released a fragrance immediately gets one's attention because he was one of the few celebrities a person could respect.
Still, if you wait this out the orange blossom/gardenia in the drydown is really, really good, never cloying or harsh. Another one by Adriana Medina.

_christine_

This is a thick, indolic floral. It's not synthetic smelling or offensive, but it is huge. That first spray is WHOA!

Give it a few minutes and it's much softer but still a heavy-weight floral. In midway into the dry down, it reminds me of Gardenia by Elizabeth Taylor. Well, Gardenia if you added a heap of skanktastic animalic.

And it finishes with a really soft, lovely, woody, musk which lasts forever.

HeavyBeatsUK

It smelt weak and cheap when I smelled it at the merchandise stall at one of his gigs at the O2. I was disappointed because I'm always trying to smell how I'd imagine Prince to smell. I would imagine him to smell more like Coty's Tribe except stronger. I like his Diamonds and Pearls album though and the one with just his symbol. Purple Rain is overrated I think.

UnearthlyApothecary

I advise one small spritz to the wrist the first time you try this, it is a little sharp and very loud, animalic and skanky but in the best way lol I actually really like it. 3121 is all gardenia and musk to my nose, the ceder and patch are also very present, providing a solid woodsy base that makes it decidedly unisex. If you don't like woodsy notes or a slightly masculine vibe you might want to stay away. I don't get all the hate, this a unique masterpiece with a dirt cheap price tag.

pablOSO

got it today. at first it beggins with a really loud floral , but cedar and patchouly comes and makes this uber masculine.... it was hard for me to identify to which perfume this one is similar to... and behold : it smells like jacques bogart one man show gold edition.

perrfumefreak

I wish I got the white florals...any of them. All I get when I spray this is a wood smell similar to wood chips. I expected woods in the drydown but I get nothing but woods from start to finish. I own and love Truth or Dare, Tease, Kim Kardashian, Michael Kors.....but I can't put Prince's scent in that group no matter how badly I'd love to. I just wish I smelled the florals instead of all the woods.

lepalm

I keep waiting for the woody dry down but I just can't detect much of anything over the screaming of the big white florals (persisting hour after hour all day long until washed off). I think I was fooled by the pastel purple bottle. This is not a purple scent. This is not a pastel scent. It is loud. It is tuberose, jasmine, and gardenia united in all their majestic glory. This is not an everyday daytime scent for me. I love it. I can't wait to revisit 3121 in January when the skies are gray and the days are short and the cold begins to seem unbearable. The kind of days where I reach for Poison, Alien, 24 Foubourgh, Cabotine, Lust.... none of which have much in common except Big White Florals. 3121 will probably join the ranks of my seasonal depression busting army of scents. (P.S. Musk. Ylang-ylang. Yes, lots of that in here too.)

ibibonica

Nothing feminine in this, and no resemblance to anais anais whatsoever, a huge disappointment for me.

Sailor Pluto

This frag is a big white floral similar to Anais Anais by Cacharel with bergamot for an hour. Then it turns into a masculine cedar scent, not the girly cedar in D&G Light Blue, but really a man's perfume.

sylvia.fu

Last year after reading some reviews, I gave up this stuff . As a Prince fan, and also a perfume lover, I think I need to keep a small bottle of it. Again, I'm wrong , I should buy a big bottle, 3121 is deep and unique, I have almost 70 bottles of perfumes , 3121 is top 10 in my collection.

Cel405

For the first 2 seconds, you smell all the beautiful, sweet florals. It's light, feminine, and complex. Then after that small honeymoon was over, it drastically changed on me to a very masculine smell. A smell which doesn't want to go away. Nope, it wants to hang around all day long.

This was a blind buy (I couldn't pass up $6 on Amazon for it). I think that to my nose, this is better suited for a man to wear. On me? Not so much. Still, I'm glad I got it. I like the way the bottle looks, though the perfume inside is a gray color, not the purple I figured it would have.

Oh, and people are not kidding when they say this is heavy on the wood smell. If you're drawn to that element, this scent has it in spades.

lulu169

I had the opportunity to get this very cheap, like 5€ for 50ml and I love the notes how they read here but Im not interested after reading all the negative reviews. thanks!

well Adriana Medina doesnt do good job anyway, she also dissapoited in Avon Luck, so Im not wondering this isnt good either

Fragrance Review For 3121 By Prince

Top Notes: Bergamot Gardenia Jasmine

Middle Notes: Tuberose Ylang Ylang Orange Blossom Lily of the Valley

Base Notes: Sandalwood Musk Patchouli Cedar Wood

If you have enjoyed wearing white floral frags with celebrity names on them like Madonna Truth or Dare Tease Paris Hilton Fairy Dust Paris Hilton Kim Kardashian Michael Kors Very Hollywood or even Giorgio Beverly Hills, Prince's fragrance for women is another gorgeous white floral aroma. Thank You Prince and your nose for giving us this gift. You may be gone but your fragrance will stay with us as long as we wear it. I had hoped with the purple packaging that this scent would be more a Purple Rain with purple flower scents like heliotrope lilac lavender wisteria and iris, and in my perfume fantasy he made a fragrance called Purple rain after his most famous song but no. Well this is not bad either. White flowers for days. All the white flower queens are here: gardenia, tuberose, jasmine and lily of the valley. Lily of the valley was missing in the other celebrity white floral scents and on me the lily of the valley note came out, really came out and left behind a sweet green-and-white floral scent of a lily of the valley bush growing in a forest. There is enough woods in this scent to make it unisex and it does evoke white flowers in a forest. There's woods, there's flowers, and green notes courtesy of patchouli leaves. The musk is also very nice. Again this is unisex because of the woods/musk/patchouli pairing but the white flowers keep this feminine and alluring. It is absolutely dreamy. I love this more than Madonna Truth or Dare and Tease by Paris Hilton. Prince has a great fragrance and it's clearly made with love. I wore this to a Prince party on the day they reported news of his death. We watched Purple Rain. I hope that they can still keep this line going and create a Purple Rain fragrance. It's possible for celebrities who have passed on (Elizabeth Taylor) to continue to market their fragrances. It's one way to honor Prince who was a great singer and most of all human being.

Southern Blonde

Prince's fragrance for women is absolutely beautiful. I have the gift set with the fragrance and body lotion. This is a white floral scent of gardenia, tuberose and jasmine. They're each detectable so they do smell of the white flowers in mature celebrity scents like Madonna Truth or Dare Kim Kardashian and Tease by Paris Hilton. But I find that this is more on the unisex side because it has stronger patchouli and musk accords. There's also lots of wood in the form of sandalwood and cedar. The wood notes give it a masculine edge. It is very strong you cant have that heady gardenia and tuberose plus patch without it being more aromatic. But it smells luxurious expensive and very glamorous. It has a sophisticated touch and very classy. It almost passes for Chanel Gardenia. This is very nice and although affordable it smells more expensive. I'm wearing this to a gig tonight in my formal evening dress. It matches up with your best most expensive clothes. Rest in Peace Prince Good Night Sweet Prince Flights of Angels Sing Thee To Thy Rest

MadeiraD

Opens medicinal and weird on me. It doesn't actually smell of cough drops, but it has that feeling, strange and astringent but then it blossoms into something sweeter softer and more gentle as the gardenia blooms and the jasmine adds its heady richness, with lily of the valley and orange blossom adding something wet and almost soapy with the earthy patch in the background, unisex and sexy. The first time I tried this, I thought I hated it, but you just have to give it time to develop. Really gorgeous.

perrfumefreak

This scent sounds lovely when I read the notes but when I put it on my skin and actually smell it,I don't like it at all! I just bought four 1 oz bottles and I don't care for the scent whatsoever. I think its the cedar wood. There is something jumping out at me that's just WAY too woody. It smells like a lovely pike of wood chips and although id love my lawn to smell like thus , I dont want my body to smell like this. Hard to believe Prince commissioned this and wore it himself. I always thought Prince smelled like incense and patchouli ( like Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' cassette, which Prince produced and, apparently scented) so this is a big departure from that. Its not totally bad, just not my scent. I'll try having my boyfriend wear it. Maybe ill like it on him

Hipchick40

I haven't been the same since Prince died. I live just 30 minutes from his Paisley Park home outside of the metro Minneapolis. Funny how he lived the quiet life out of the city but the party always went to him.
Anyway, I just remembered he had this fragrance so I ordered two bottles, one to actually use and one to save forever, hopefully. I can't wait to try it, and I hope it will somehow live up to my imagined smell of him and can keep my mind connected to him forever! He represents my childhood, his lyrics and notes, moves and kisses got me through my teen years. My clubbing days were influenced by him from the start and my choice in my husband was confirmed when he had respect for the one and only Prince!
I could go on and on but I won't. I'll just say he's one amazing man who has all my love and respect and I'm so looking forward to having this perfume. May he rest in peace and love knowing he is in our hearts forever.

Update: my bottles arrived. Sadly, one leaked in shipping but it made opening the box all the more fun as the scent was revealed the closer I got to the prize inside! At first I thought it was too masculine, judging based on what had rubbed off on my hands. I shared a sniff with my husband but he said "Prince doesn't make masculine or feminine. It just is." Well played husband, well played. So I sprayed lightly on my wrists. Now it's just perfect. From afar, my wrists, I get that feeling I've been hugged by a man I love and his cologne is lingering on me. I loooooove that feeling and to associate it with Prince makes it all the more meaningful. Up close, I get individual notes which makes it more feminine and interesting overall. Of course I still need to get to know this concoction but these are my initial thoughts. My world is still not the same since he's been gone. I think it's true for most Minnesotans. But this will help keep him close to my heart and hopefully keep my emotions under control. Fingers crossed. ☔️

Wow....the prices are already going up on this !
I bought it before his death...Two 1.7oz bottles for like, $8.00 each. Now they have climbed in price ...a little...but I bet it will continue.
I have one sealed, and one open....the scent is not too bad. Synthetic, for sure. But it does kinda "develope" in stages on my skin...interesting. Very floral, although, citric opening...then the gardenia/tuberose vibe shows up, then, changes to kinda 'dirty"....drydown is subtle...powdery-ish.

I blind-bought 3121 as a memento of Prince's passing (may he rest in peace). The packaging is over-the-top, and very-fitting as an extension of his style; I was surprised to find that the title was a real brass plate adhered to the front of the bottle- and not simply painted on. Totally glam.

The fragrance, however... I have been wearing it on the back of my hand for a few hours, now, sniffing it from time-to-time to see how it develops. It starts off quite sharply, and hits your nose with citrus and piercing "green" florals; sadly, none of them are natural and complex whatsoever: they are like "blocks" of monotone notes juxtaposed against each other- like an abstract installation of matte-textured cubes, suspended from the ceiling at varying levels... There is no further adornment to catch the eye, no unexpected flourish of iridescence as you shift point-of-view.

This style of perfumery is, in my opinion, better suited to a "functional product" such as detergent, hair-care, or air-freshener- something that the consumer might only endure briefly and in passing. I am not against this style entirely: the Clean brand has a few gems amongst its offerings, and Escentric Molecules has its place, but I don't find 3121 particularly *wearable* or engaging. It is extremely linear, highly-synthetic, and simple- and even those traits would be forgiven if I found the end-result at least *pleasant*.

Understandably, there had been many folks who lived until the time of Prince's passing totally unaware that this fragrance even existed. There might have been a good reason for that. I now know it exists, and a part of me wishes that I didn't. To be blunt: I honestly don't think it becomes him, his image, or his personality very well... and I'm surprised that he approved of this composition when it was first presented. I respect anyone who actually does enjoy this fragrance, but, for my part, I will be passing my bottle on to someone who might appreciate it more, while I myself will seek another kind of memento to honor the passing of such a great artist from our midst.

I was intrigued by 3121 when I first smelled it, years ago. It felt "old school" and I was pleased it wasn't anything like other sweetie celebrity scents. The perfume boutique I work at carries a good amount of this fragrance and we set it up on display in Prince's memory recently, so I had to try it again.

The opening is difficult for me to enjoy. It is sharp, "peppery" and herbal to the point of smelling like an alcohol-heavy astringent. The florals do come out after about 20 minutes to add some light sweetness and grounding, but they are mild. My skin pulls out a soapy-herbal fragrance for the majority of the time and I swear there a "Coppertone from the 1960's" scent coming out, which is fun. The drydown completely changes and smells sweet and sort of fruity-sticky, with tuberose appearing in a thin, sheer way. 3121 really is all over the place on me.

The last time I wore 3121 it was in the summer - a very hot day. I'll have to try that again, because I think this rainy, cold day we're experiencing in Tahoe today isn't letting 3121 be great. It might need to open up in warm weather. Rest in Peace, Prince and thank you for being easy on the eyes, delightful in the ears, and fun in the nose!

Vikitoria

Vile. Revolting. It starts with industrial scent like they use in cleaning products in the projects, then FINALLY dries down to cheap powder. Oh, how utterly sad I am at this turn of events!

Blind buy FAIL.

Melodiarose82

For some reason my previous review did not go through. So, let me try again... I ordered a mini of this the day before Prince died... I couldn't believe the news when I heard it. I'm just glad that I was thinking of him before he died, rather than only remembering him after he had passed on to the other side, as too often seems to be the case with people, over all.

3121 starts off bright and feminine, a very old school perfume scent, the way a perfume should smell. It then turns quite masculine and predominantly cedar. As it settles in some more, it morphs back into the feminine realm. It is such a wonder. I think this would be good as a mixer with another scent that may be too sweet, to put a bit of an edge to it, or vice versa. (on second thought- nah! leave it as it is, changing it defeats the purpose) I love Prince, I always have. I will cherish my beautiful little mini 3121 bottle for the man it 'represents'. I think it's such a gift that it morphs the way that it does, no doubt intentional, as it really is like an essence of the iconic man. The man who always stayed true to his artistry. A game changer indeed. Passed on to the other side, but he is now eternal. Prince will never be forgotten.

RIP there's no one like you and there never will be again! Prince!!

nettoyant

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this. I'm so sad, as are millions of his other fans. Eff this universe where Prince can't make decades more music and grow old. He was so good so weird, genius. This scent is dry and woody like you would expect a typical marketed to men scent to be, then sweet tuberose takes it to feminine. In the end, it's completely androgynous. I'm so glad I own a bottle.

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
Laughing in the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It's such a shame our friendship had to end

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Underneath the purple rain

Honey, I know, I know
I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too

You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
If you know what I'm singing about up here
C'mon, raise your hand

Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you
Only want to see you
In the purple rain

Prince - Rest in Peace

This mesmerizing tuberose fragrance has amazing androgynous sex appeal! It opens with citrus, and white florals. I notice the ylang ylang, then the tuberose begins to bloom, it is heady and creamy. The fragrance becomes dusky as cedar, sandalwood, patchouli begins to come through, I notice sandalwood and cedar most of all. On my skin the white florals has a touch of animalic quality, I detect incensy sandalwood underneath the tuberose. The drydown is sandalwood and cedar accord.
Like Prince, 3121 is a High-Pitched fragrance, not for the faint hearted. I will miss you.

Bella1

I love this scent, picked it up just because of my
Admiration and ended up being pleasantly surprised.
I have a few bottles.
RIP PRINCE!
Thank you for the memories!
So sad right now.

Debsmellsgood

I will miss you, Prince! 3121 is beautiful because it is influenced by you. Rest in peace, sweet genius.

I was so excited to try this out, I patiently awaited the arrival of my shipment. I thought this is going to be a great scent, Prince has such style. Boy was I wrong! This is probably the worst fragrance I have ever tried. It has no floral notes that I smelled, I love Tuberose and I couldn't detect even a small amount of it. All I smell in this is Cedar and Bergamot. I worked in a nursing home for about 2 months years ago and this perfume smells just like the hallways there did, a mixture of urine and a strong citrus cleaner. Yuck!

Hmmmm... millest alustada?

I'm a massive Prince fan, and this scent sells for a song (pun not intended, but I'm running with it) online, so I had to give it a try.....what would Prince smell like? Purple Rain? Pancakes? Leather seats in a little red corvette?

The answer, if 3121's press materials are to be believed, is a creamy white floral top/middle section, with a dry cedar and musk duo on the drydown.

THIS is what it sounds like when doves cry.

This has nice longevity (about 9 hours) and a moderate sillage, avoiding the projection beast headache inducing white floral pit of doom......but it also smells like a ton of fragrances we've all smelled before.

Better than I expected from a celebrity scent, and quite easily wearable.....but a huge disappointment when you consider it is branded with a man famous for genre hopping musical genius and assless chaps on a rainy Tuesday eccentricity. May he rest in purple.

pravda48

On me 3121 started as a lush, creamy yet grounded white floral... but not 15 mins later it went all TUBEROSE.

Big, rubbery - hot rubber, mind you - tuberose & lots of big creamy white floral notes. I can't do the rubbery facet of tuberose, I prefer my tuberoses green, camphorous, or tropical. It's not for me but kudos for being far from a normal celeb scent.

Lalionne

After I read Marlen Harrison's Gender Bender article on this scent, here on Fragrantica, I simply had to try this (and so I bought a small bottle for an even smaller price). Although I thought I was prepared for a strong opening, the first spray nevertheless blew me away - in a negative sense. Old fashioned cologne and more modern after shave combined with something else. Something that somehow assures you that it is not simply a typical male's scent you've taken up by mistake. But it quickly changes into a nice smell that is indeed very unisex. I like it. Certainly don't regret buying and trying, especially given the price. Still... I am not sure how often I will actually wear it.

Update: I have tried it several times now and it is a strange scent: sometimes it becomes quite nice and sometimes it stays rather awful. Probably has to do with chemistry. Not a safe blind buy, unless you find it as ridiculously cheap as I did (less than 5 dollar).

Addict2Perfume

3121 by Prince started out smelling of sweet cedar and fresh bergamot which was pretty good. Unfortunately the dry down just does not work with my body chemistry. I ended up with some kind of weird floral mishmash that had a grotesque urine undertone. I saw the mixed reviews and knew this would be a love or hate, so I took and chance and…wah-wah-wah, not for me. I can totally see this being unisex, but it leans more towards the masculine side as I get a men’s cologne vibe from this fragrance. Fortunately I was able to swap it!

BroomRider28

My take on this fragrance.
Mix 3/4 of Usher for Women with 1/4 of Revlon's Jontue, and you'll come up with 3121.
This is really a very good perfume, and now that it's rock bottom cheap, it's even better.
I'm certain it will be discontinued soon, so, you might want to sample it and stock up on it if you like it.
It sells below $17. dollars on Amazon for the 3.4 oz. bottle.
Seriously, for that price you just can't go wrong for such a quality scent.
Very impressive sillage and longevity.

I've been waiting a while to review 3121...and that's because I'm in love with it. That happens sometimes..when I really love a scent, I put off reviewing it because I don't know if I can do it justice or truly convey how I feel about it...and...also it's kind of like a special secret that you sorta don't want to share. Reading the reviews though, I can see that I'm safe. There are many that just don't like this one...I get it...I'm ok with that. For me though, 3121 by Prince is sensual and magical and a little strange...just like the the man, himself. Although I do love the artist ( is there anyone who doesn't?) my love for his perfume has little to do with him. I like to call this one a Green-Floral-Musk. It is completely alive with the smell of fresh green florals...not just the white flowers listed above but their leaves and stems and roots and maybe even a little dirt too, the Bergamot lends a citrusy/soapy vibe. This combined with a salty, woody, musky base leaves it feeling bright and fresh yet earthy and hot.....like a summer romp in the meadow next to the woods. It's really, really sexy...to my nose anyway. I don't smell cat litter and I don't smell cedar and it doesn't feel masculine to me...yet I would love to smell this on a man! Our noses all work so differently...it truly is amazing. There is only one other perfume in my collection that compares to 3121 in style and feel and that's another favorite of mine, Maroussia by Slava Zaitsev. It probably helps that, for me, both of these have an aura of mystery about them as they are not well known or used among people that I know and they both have gorgeous bottles! Yeah....3121 ( and Maroussia) can both be found inexpensively on line and I hate to say it but there might be the teensiest smell of "cheapness" that weaves in and out of the scent experience...but...I kinda like that about it. Here's another thought that just popped into my head while typing.....I feel like I'm smelling the eighties ( although this did not come out til much later) and not the powerhouse perfumes of the eighties that women and teen girls wore. It's like the smell of being a kid in the eighties ( which I was) I have no idea how to explain myself but while wearing this, I just picture myself in a roller skating rink, wearing florescent jelly bracelets, a checkerboard patterned shirt...with my collar up, carmex lip balm, chewin' on some hubba bubba and flyin' around on wheels to one of Prince's songs...probably "Raspberry Beret". Where am I going with this??? Up top I said "sexy-romping" and now I'm going on about innocence and childhood??? Maybe 3121 takes me to that place in-between.The sweetness of innocence morphs into the thrill of the discovery of womanhood. Too much?

ell_bee

Interesting... verrrrry interesting. Guess I'd expect nothing less from the Purple One himself. Any white florals that might be detected, by my nose anyway, are crushed under the heavy woodier stuff. Super-ultra masculine, almost a little too androgynous for my own tastes (and I love some androgyny in my scent). I agree with another reviewer in that this just might be what Prince himself would wanna smell like, forget pleasing the masses! Not a love, honestly still trying to like it... I'm gonna keep playing around with this one since I bought the huge bottle for damn near nothing... Might have to take it out dancing in a funky, sweaty night club to see what it's really made of.

lirael00

Prince perfume is made for the brave ones. The juice in the bottle is not a crowd pleaser, so 90% of people who'll try it will run away. But maybe if you give this frag a little more time and consideration, then maybe you'll find it magical. I'm not there yet as I can only wear it in my house, I still don't feel confident wearing it in public. I don't love it and definitely don't hate it, actually my feelings are very mixed, so that' why I like it even more, cause it confuses me to the point when I do have to retry, retest and rethink everything I feel about it again and again.

At first spritz I get bergamot all the way, then gardenia and cedar come in. There is tuberose there too. Those notes are all very powerful so they create quite strong scent with incredible longevity and sillage. If you're up for experimenting go and play with this one.

DAL123

I almost don't know what to say about this one. I do not get any white floral...no citrus...not even a smidgen of tuberose. I don't know what it is that I am getting from it other than my chemistry does not like it! It smells strong and "old ladyish" on me. And it will not come off...grrrrr. I can't even say that I think this would work better on a man. I had honestly hoped Prince would have smelled much better....

soniamcalear

The longest lasting perfume I've ever used!!!! There is nothing on the market today that you will apply on day one and still smell on day two except this scent. I was shocked to still smell this on me the the next morning. So this is a worth while scent. Its very strong and powdery. Winter does not bring out the nice notes on this scent though, wait till spring, its much more enjoyable.

reborn

this is the stranges perfume i have ever smelled and i had smelled a lot.It transforms from the top till the dry down like a beast transforms to a beauty. At the beggining i dont like it.It smells like men`s cheap cologne(the first minute)with lots of lavender???with cedar and bergamote.Very strange manlish and deffinately not sexy. But the drydown is super erotic indeed.Very musky, very with hint of tuberose and fresh gardenia. This perfume is the only one in the whole world that reminds me of another unique and strange and favourite of mine-BY for women by D&G,but only the musky dry down.3121 is very interesting and special and deffinately different from all the celebrity fruity-candy crap nowdays. If u like kinky frags try it

P.S.Perfect lasting power and projection. It is so addictive i cant stop smelling my wrist.i wanna bathe in it.

2746cstreet

Unfortunately, this smells like kitty litter on me. Let me clarify that I mean CLEAN kitty litter. The bergamot and cedar really seem to overtake everything else and I can barely smell the tuberose or gardenia.
3121 ends up smelling sour & gritty on my skin and I have to say I'm more than a little bummed as I love Prince and was hoping for a big, luscious white floral type fragrance.
It reminds me a bit of Imari, but without the soapiness and much more sour.

Jomoves

I was intrigued when I read about this one online, so decided to blind buy the gift set. I like the odd celebrity fragrance and Prince seems like such an unlikely celebrity to be involved in this sort of thing.

My first impression is that this starts out rather old school. It reminds me of a fragrance from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on, but it develops into a white floral musky scent that I find quite intriguing. At certain times of the day I could imagine myself walking around with a big bunch of strong white flowers and jonquils, before the musky.jasmine aspects rise to the top again. The longevity amazing and it lasts for a good 8 hours. It is an odd combination of being sexy but matronly at the same time. I really do like it, so much so that it has become a workday staple.

Prince 3121
When you hang out with dancers, like I do, you see all types of performances. One of the sexiest burlesque performances I ever saw was also one of the simplest. An African-American woman, who had a full figure like Foxy Brown, did a slow sensual dance to Prince’s Black Sweat. She wore a simple black tuxedo jacket over tuxedo shorts and slowly undulated while removing her clothes until she was in a simple black satin bra and boy shorts with leather wrist cuffs and a black mask. The best part was how her skin glowed against the black satin of her costume and the black velvet curtains in the back. The effect was like liquid honey. It was the only dance performance I’ve ever seen that had “texture”, with her skin shimmering against the black velvet curtains. Usually, burlesque performers use costumes with beading, ruffles or feathers, which makes the dancing look like a performance, but the simplicity of her costume oozed sex because it looked so intimate, as if we were in her bedroom watching her undress.

Wearing this fragrance, reminded me of this performance. It seems so simple, it has a very light citrus top note, then a sinuous incense that undulates around a light wooden base. At first, it smelled exactly like a stick of Nag Champa before it’s lit. I thought it was too light and lacked depth, but as it danced on my skin, I realized that it’s one of the few perfumes that has some “texture” like velvet, silk velvet to be exact.

This texture is designed to softly caress the most sensitive areas on your body, like touching a naked body with silk velvet gloves so softly that you see goosebumps. As usual, Prince created a sexy masterpiece as only Prince can. If you aren’t in touch with your inner freak yet, wear a little 3121, and you might just get there.

ColubineCola

This stuff is heavenly. Don't believe the other reviews about it being a stink bomb. They're just hatin' on Prince.

This is a sillage king and the longevity is superb. Lasts a few days on clothes.

It's bold, it's powerful, It's sexy!

onesexygrammy

I made the mistake of reading customer reviews on a major website prior to buying. They're a great reference for books, but not fragrances! I know, I deserve a bop on the head for that one. WHAT a disappointment! This fragrance was supposed to knock my socks off! His fragrance just HAD to be as ecclectic and exotic and sexual as he was-back in the day anyway. Talk about a huge flop. Mediocre top notes and white floral...yawn....a touch of sweetness...double yawn......soft wood notes...ZZZZZZZZ. It's in my giveaway box.

Adrien02

An overwhelming sense that someone tried to manufacture a perfume from plastic flowers that had been sprayed with tuberose and civet. I know, I know civet isn't listed but it sure smells like it. I can only take so much tuberose and it just doesn't work well for me in this composition. Before I was able to give this away it was so gosh-awful to me I relegated it to bathroom duty. Yes, I felt it's only redeeming value was as a bathroom airfreshner. Sad to say I disliked it so much I had to banish it to the back of my cabinet as I couldn't even abide to smell it there. Now that's some extreme disliking.

camaral

I love Prince, so had to purchase 3121. It is intriguing... But, to me something about it was always unbalanced.
Now, I've figured it out: The bergamot completely throws it off. It clashes with the cedar and sandalwood, and causes an odd sort of berry aroma.
That calamity ruins what would otherwise be absolutely gorgeous florals!
My advice would be to get rid of the bergamot, and add more patchouli.
Don't get me wrong- it is certainly wearable, and different - most appropriate for a concert or theatrical event. This fragrance frustrates because it is only a couple of steps away from being a masterpiece. (Sigh.)

skitten

Wow, the first spay is really horrible..... is like a really bad weird something and a strong stinky goo of unknown ingredients.........lol
Thankgoodness I did not waste my money.!!

Is now a really nice Musky scent and totally if men wear it would be hugely a draw factor to them.
Smells heavenly, just like Prince should and probably does, who knows, he's not within my reach..lol.....

Does definitately contain sandal, cedar and sex, yes "sex" if you are quierying this statement........ So brings on the wanting, I will never be so quick to dismiss a fragrance after this one.... Truly for any hard given oriental lover to indulge in....x

Knowing Prince is all about blurring the lines between genders (while revelling in his masculinity) and being a BIG fan of his for over 2 decades, I decided when I saw this at a "bargain basement" store to give it an honest try...

It was a two-piece set with a body creme and full bottle for only 12 dollars! I asked the SA if I could try it, and to my amazement she said: "Go Ahead, we've all been wanting to smell it!" I gingerly opened it and extracted it from that pesky form-fitted plastic and sprayed it in the air...

WOW! Not what I expected at all. I assumed it would be all synthetic and "shiny" smelling and I had heard Prince wears this himself, but he also wears pants that leave his "derriere" in full view of God and everyone...and I would not go that far (anymore!). This had a bit of bitterness but was also fresh and very sexy. Then it got "thicker" and warmer, more "femme" and I put it back in the box, and sat it on the shelf as the SA and I chatted. All around me was a very pleasing cloud of citrus and heady florals that lingered but did not annoy. She went back to work and I continued shopping. By the time I was done, I had to go back and grab it. It was the olfactive equivalent of the "song stuck in your head"...flowery, sexy and now quite oriental and vaguely incensy! I nearly giggled with joy that such a treasure could be found for so little, so close to me...but when I got to the perfume section ALL THREE WERE GONE!! Now, I am looking for some and the next time I see something I think I might like I'M BUYING IT then and there!

Sillage: good then decent
Longevity: good
Overall: 3.5/5

Prince, the "Artist", the unpronounceable symbol. Whatever you think of him and/or his music, this is not as bad as I feared; and I have paid MUCH more for things nowhere near as nice. This is not exactly Purple Rain EDT...and it is a far cry from Diamonds & Pearls (the album). Sexy to some, annoying to others 3121 (which adds to 7 by the way, his favorite number) is not exactly rock, but it is no soft ballad either. It is like something you might really enjoy dancing to in a club and never know the song or who did it...but it was a good time!

secretcrush

I snagged this one 2nite @ Marshalls blindly but I was thoroughly pleased... Its opening is rather strong with a bursting cloud of white florals but once they settle down out comes the sensual side of the fragrance which includes sandalwood, cedar and incense... I like it and I'm not the least bit disappointed or surprised although I was a lil leary in line based on the mediocre reviews it received here... Glad I have learned 2 take chances!!!

nattonline

What a bizarre fragrance with an odd name. To me, it starts out smelling like a men's aftershave. Then it mixes with a white floral notes. The clash of these two sides makes the scent a little weird. Later the aftershave smell is gone and leave just a floral scent that is very similar to Kim K, especially with the fruity tuberose note. Nothing spectacular but rather cheap actually. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone unless it's free or you are bored out of your mind.

loismonahan

I was very surprised by this one. It's not at all like the usual celebrity scents, and the price is a steal! The marketing, however, does not make you want to try - cheap cardboard stand with those "pockets" to hold the bottles in (like nailpolish or lipstick). Lucky for me - I smell everything!

sharyssa

I got this the other day and it is a very strong floral scent but when it dries down it smells a bit like incense it's okay but considering the price I'd say it's worth it.

Ruffdawg

3121 is a unisex fragrance, it wasnt intended just for women. Prince does wear it himself. Here is part of an interview from USA Today with the CEO of Revelation Perfumes, the manufacturer of the scent, and he confirms it. (You can find this interview on USA Today's website, just go there & search "Prince 3121" & you'll find it.)

*********************************
"When Prince began shopping for a perfumer, he rejected big firms and settled on small Philadelphia-based Revelations.
Prince seldom comments about such ventures, but Revelations CEO Larry Couey doesn't mind sharing details. The Jehovah's Witness convert "was intrigued by our name," Couey says. He "liked that we had a fragrance called Truth. He said he'd never smelled the truth."
Prince decreed a purple and gold box, an emerald-cut violet bottle, a vertically stacked logo and no photos of him on the package. And the scent? "He knew what notes he wanted: a lot of musk, sandalwood and cedar," Couey says. "We went back and forth, tweaking and adjusting. Once we got it, he loved it. He said, 'Get me 12 bottles, and keep me in supply.' "
Like Prince's earlier Get Wild fragrance, 3121 is gender-neutral. "It's sensual," Couey says. "It's unisex, but his fan base is 80% female, so it leans toward the feminine."
*********************************

Im a guy & I really like this fragrance, it is nothing what I had expected it to be. I own both the EDP and the Xquisite Perfume, the Xquisite lasts longer than the EDP but smells exactly the same to me, only stronger. It is a very nice scent, even though it clearly has a lot of synthetics in it it's very nice & is very unique for a celebrity scent. Something in this (for the first few mins until it starts to dry down) reminds me of grape kool-aid.

Girly T-Rex

I'm beggining to wonder whether this perfume was actually made for the general public or for Prince himself hehe. 3121 could easily be a unisex perfume. It's very androgynous, much like Prince himself. A very sharp, strong floral fragrance. Be careful spraying this one, you only need a little bit.

katyas

I received a sample today - this is a lovely scent. An initial burst of sweet florals work down to a sweetly simmering middle of softer florals with a hint of orange until the dry-down brings in the lovely mixture of sandal and cedar. I'm amazed that there isn't an actual review on this one already - I definitely plan to get me some of this as soon as I can!
