Alces Alces

Smells like a big old bottle of aldehydes! Aldehydes and ylang-ylang. It's also filled with spicy carnation. My bottle is at least six years old and had drifted to the back of my collection, but today I brought it out, and wow! The description in the paragraph at the top of the page that calls this an "amber" is waaaay off. Nothing to do with amber. Afshan is an in your face floral aldehyde, about as old school as it gets.

Either you love this or you hate it. Anytime the comments here go on about how something is old fashioned or old ladyish or - my favorite - "smells like a nursing home," there is a good chance I will love that fragrance. There is also a good chance they have not been in an actual nursing home, because I have visited people in many nursing homes and this does not smell like that.

The only fragrance I have ever smelled that IS like a nursing home is Pinaud Clubman Lilac Vegetal, and yes that is EXACTLY like a nursing home. Afshan however is just a strong aldehydic floral, absolutely out of fashion, but these days that is not so bad. Spray LIGHTLY for this is powerful.

Cheap bar of soap in your face... Lasts for ever.. Headache.. Cloying.. 5/10

I like this - very good value powerhouse soapy floral - more white flowers than rose - but it feels unfinished to me and would be elevated very much with some sharper citrus, greener notes or subtle leather to balance the heady soap and floral and turn it into a cheapie gem!

This perfume has the exact 99% same juice as Cabotine de Gres. It was a blind buy.

I was happy when i receive my package from Notino, first spray was strong, fresh, sharp flowery (i was hoping for a more fruity juice but i don't get any fruity smell in it) and very familiar scent to my nose.
So i went through my collection and notice the juice has the same yellow colour as Cabotine de Gres, so i spray my left arm with Afshan en right arm with Cabotine, BAM! identical scent. The only difference is the drydown of Cabotine is sharper and it last longer than Afshan.

I was so bum and dissapointed for having 2 full 100ml bottle with identical juice, so i'll just give Afshan away and keep the cute bottle of Cabotine.

This is a warning review - to me Afshan smells like sickening Bulgarian rose. Yes, it does have the light soapy & white floral notes, and it is bit woody & also the ylang ylang is noticeable but the bulgarian rose for me is present all the way. Is it true that i've tried this in worm weather, maybe in the cold months I won't puke as the rest of the notes are quite pleasant ...but omg that bulgarian rose, it haunts me.
Also I feel zero green notes, no woods.
And zero similarity with Chanel No5.
And please note that I love big heavy perfumes. But his one is a disappointment for me so far.

So if you want to blind by this and you hate the bulgarian note, don't blind buy this.

Afshan offers a pretty powerful initial projection of soapy, white floral notes. On the opening it’s paired with a sort of green, grassy mixture. A warmth and spiciness increases over time with the introduction of the heart, the ylang-ylang, rose and other spicy notes. As can be seen from other reviews, the clean, soapy, rose/spice mix is the heart of the fragrance. That might be an understatement - I really don’t get many closing notes in this either. Projection, longevity are both pretty monstrous for this. A faint trace of amber and wood can be smelled after quite awhile.

Some may really enjoy this. Rasasi seems to make quality fragrances for a nice price. However, I don’t see how this is considered as unisex. The scent and bottle seem markedly feminine to me, but to each his own, I suppose.

Well, it's strong soapy clean perfume. It's not like Chanel No5 (I compared it), and absolutely no Habanita. I compared it also with Mitsouko on my second hand. They share same bitterness and vintage vibe, but Afshan is not so much chypre as Mitsouko, its less fruity and more soapy, but still from same family. I like it, nice cheapie.

Harpalike

It is so contradictive - yes, it is a mild soap, but not really clean (in the meaning of "pure"). It is mild, but very long-lasting. It is vintage, but not retro. I truly like it, especially in the sunny autumn days, yet it needs special attitude and mood to fit in.

Nice scent but nothing special. It smells like sope, wood and some flowers. I can feel the musk too.

Longevity: 10

One of the most long lasting perfumes ive ever used. The whole day on skin and some days on clothes.

Sillage: 8

People around can feel it but i cant say this is beast mode.

Price/quality: 10

I have biught it for just 13€. Of course this is not the best perfume in the world but is not bad and has a great performance.

Versatility: 7

For me it is a daily scent, maybe too soapy, dry, and soft to go out at night and not glamourous enough for special moments. I cant see it with a suit for example. Its a totally unisex fragance. It is very similar to channel 5 but woodier. Its like a men's Chanel 5.

Soap and soap and more SOAP , PASS!

Vostok308

Reminds me slightly of Giorgio Beverly Hills and the aforementioned Dove soap bar.
I've got the oil version which lasts like everyone says.I'm getting twelve good hours.
It's quite feminine but I don't mind that.
A good purchase.

Starlett_Sexton

This smells nothing like Chanel N5!!! I don’t get the comparison!!!

Given the fact that they were discounted, I bought blindly for about 20 euros (both) Afshan (eau de parfum) and Mukhallad Oud Al Mubakhar, from Rasasi. Though I like strong perfumes, I found that they have harsh opening, almost unpleasant. Afshan has a vintage vibe given by its ressemblance with old and classy Chanel 5, but it's not similar with it. In opening, yes, Afshan do smell strong and about the same as Chanel 5. But after about a quart of hour, the dry down is awesome for both of them! Afshan transforms in something spicy and ambery/balsamic, but clean. Awesome! No doubt, I found them wearable by men w/o problems. And that's said by a grizzled man.
Regarding the performances, unfortunatelly Afshan (eau de parfum) is not so long lasting (only 1-2 hours of tamed power), then it becomes skin scent and with medium to poor sillage. I expected more from it... On clothes is long lasting. I layered it with Mukhallat oud Al Mubakhar and the result was outstanding. Seriously, give it a try!

EDIT/UPDATE: Afshan IS a monster of longevity especially on clothes. (Attention! It stains.) And its dry down is DIVINE. Still use it layered with Mukhallat, the combination is outstanding.

Clean, soapy and a bit vintage in a very lovable way. Ylang-ylang really gives some aldehydness of the composition, the aquatic notes are also there, laundry-white synthetic musk (of a high-quality detergent) can be detected too. The silage and lasting power are rather not that enormous on me, however big enough.
It smells like pure white cotton bed sheets washed with nice neutral liquid detergent, dried outside on the Sun and taken home slightly wet just to iron them easily. Afshan has positive, simple homey vibe.

Big surprise! Rasasi sparkler !, Soap, pepper, flowers A beautiful blend of a bouquet of purity, suitable for every season, especially for a summer evening, in the winter they wrap you up like a thick winter coat. Wonderful and long-lasting! It's so clean, creamy, woody and warm at the same time that I could drink it! Beautiful ylang-ylang perceptible. Wonderful, nothing more nothing less, 5 stars! My favorite.

PerfumedParrot

This was a blind buy after reading reviews. I was excited about the promise of it smelling like a mix between a fresher Amouage Gold, Chanel No.5 and a bar of Dove soap - that combo is everything I ask for in life as I adore soapy florientals. So I'm happy to announce that Afshan by Rasasi ALMOST shot straight to my signature shelf! But it’s no No.5, that’s probably the aldehydes (which aren’t mentioned as a note) which people are picking up on. It does remind me of a budget version of Xeroff’s ‘Pikovaya Dama’ but much less refined/luxurious. The only issue I have is that everyone says it's strong but I'm not finding this. I bought it directly from Rasasi and I wish it was strong and long lasting. I give it about 10 sprays and it still doesn't project more than 15cm or last longer than a few hours. This fragrance likes me and I like it so my skin must drink it all up.

If anyone can recommend any other similar fragrances to this, then please let me know.

Edit: I've just bought the 20ml oil to see if that's stronger than the 100ml spray.
Edit 2: The oil is amazing! It has the great projection and silage that I was looking for. It has now become my everyday signature scent.

When sprayed it smells like white coccolino fabric softener, light on spices, white florals, tulip.

After 5-10m transforms into the typical white soap scent, more crisp and clean than mugler cologne. More soapy, creamier, softer. From it's woody accord I can smell only the cedars slightly. Despite it's softer than mugler, this is more remarkable, clearer and more distinguishable than that cologne.

My brother says this is like wunderbaum car freshener.

Lasts 6h+ with 50cm+ projection, settles to close-to skin scent for 10-12 hours. On clothes it can be smelled for more than 24h.
In skin-scent state it has a citrusy vibe.

Love it....soap and flowers.. oriental and very long lasting. NICE SWEET AND SPICY....MY FAVORITE UNISEX. GREAT BOTTLE. Namaste!

nyeleman

One thing for sure is that it is very strong and beast mode.

The thing is it smells like cheap soap. It smells like the soap you find in third world toilets to wash your hands with. I sprayed it once and I had to smell it the whole day. I have found 1 good usage for it , which is a good bathroom sprayer after taking a number 2. I sprayed it on my shower curtain 2 days ago and I can still smell it. This is a thumbs down for me.

FlirtBoy

floral-aldehydic (probably because of ylang-ylang)...this has kind of vintage (70-80s) touch that I remember from many women´s perfumes of that era (White Linen by E. Lauder comes to my mind as one example)...but this is rather unisex and can be easily worn by men without feeling too feminine 7.25/10

pipernigrum

I love this perfume! Soapy powdery clean scent. Elegant and sophisticated fragrance. I love Chanel N°5 and this is Chanel N°5 but in arabic interpretation. :) It has a tremendous power and very very long lasting also. This perfume worth its every penny! I am happy that I own a bottle of this wonderful scent! Marvelous!

ComfyCat

This is a white bar of creamy luxury soap, your soft fresh clothes washed with luxury detergent and yourself polished to clean perfection in fresh sheets with your sweet smelling halo of shining pureness.

Exotic white flowers, a hint of cool greens and moss, a tiny hint of creamy woods and amber, is what I smell. From close proximity I get the spices, just like when you smell a large lilly in fullbloom from up close, where you'll get a hint of peppery spiciness too.
From a little distance you get the overall floral-creamy-soap perfection.

I tested this one blindly and was afraid to like it, because I percieved it as a fragrance of incredible quality, no harsh alcohol, round and long lasting with great projection and was utterly surprised to learn it is quite cheap! Awesome!

icufish

Very soapy scent. Reminds me of Mitsouko (but Mitsouko is better). Longevity and projection are very good. I don´t like this scent, it was a disappointment for me, it is true that it is not arabic type of scent.

orchidlover

It reminds me of White Shoulders by Evyan (and Chanel 5) .
I think its not oriental, but a heavy, thicker floral with SOAP at the end just like White shoulders. Nice, wearable (for a mature person or who likes vintage perfumes) but im not amazed (anyway i like vintages). I expected lot of spices and arabic fragrance.
I found a new home for my bottle fortunately.
