Mademoiselle Rochas in Black was launched in 2020, but also suffered from the global COVID-19 pandemic and only arrived on Brazilian soil, officially, in 2021. With a black look, from head to toe, it brought the bow in faux leather full of studs, conveying a rock and glamor attitude.

To the press, Rochas brand said that this new fragrance has 30% confidence, 15% adventure, 20% fun, 10% audacity, 5% charm, 15% determination, 5% game, and a bottle of 100% Pantone Black. And they even stated that it would be a special edition, arriving in Brazil only in 50ml bottles.

In the composition, created by Natalie Gracia-Cetto and classified as floral-fruity-woody, we have an opening with notes of blackberry, black tea, and bergamot, which open the way to a heart of rose, hawthorn, and leather, on a base of ambroxan, black vanilla, and oak moss.

On the skin, Mademoiselle Rochas in Black explodes in a sparkling and fresh mix, almost spicy, with a lot of blackberry presence. Different from the result presented on the blotter, which is generic and remains fruity for a longer time, here the creamy content appears organically, in a smooth and well-calculated transition. It's the hawthorn, with its small, white, milky-effect flowers.

And with an evolution that conveys more glamor than rock to me, the light fruitiness of the blackberry persists but becomes muffled by the leather accord, which, in my opinion, brings a light and feminine suede aspect. On my skin, I don't really identify the presence of rose, usually evident. On the other hand, an amber note with a resinous effect appears, along with the drying, and enhances a dryer and not liqueur vanilla, creating an Oriental reference that is not very sweet and quite comfortable.

Mademoiselle Rochas in Black's fragrance has medium projection and good durability, although it seems to have disappeared from the skin after five hours. But believe me, it lives longer than eight! In my opinion, it is for night use and goes well in any weather, not requiring cooler temperatures.

The most important thing is to understand that it is not a transgressive product or that it speaks with women who enjoy rock music and leather jackets. It's just a fragrance of rebellious style inside a pillar that represents the chic side of the young Parisian woman portrayed by Rochas.

This does make me think of a younger BR 540 in motorcycle garb. It’s confident and intriguing and draws more attention than I need at my age, lol. This is quite tongue in cheek, it really is a “cool girl” scent to me, but that synth sweetness combined with leather makes a weird, plastic-like scent. I think with the leather dialed back just a bit I would keep this.

Tardigrada

A very unsuccessful blind buy. It smells like one of those cheap things that try to imitate BR540, or at least have the same shrill brain wrenching sugary ambrox base that projects like crazy and clings to everything tainting it without possibility to scrub off. I'm not here to criticise BR540 itself, it's a sort of icon and very well composed even though I personally do not enjoy it, but the fact that everyone seems to be jumping this bandwagon trying to copy either BR540 itself or getting that revenue success like Cloud did. I get that it's sort of a trend, but I am so over it, because I can smell it literally everywhere on everyone.
I know I shouldn't be buying perfumes blindly anymore (didn't check online, because I had no data connection in that TKmaxx store). The fact that it ended up in there very shortly after being released should have been a massive red flag to me.

A very different perfume. Definitely smell the Blackberry, leather and tea. A dark fragrance, perhaps better worn at nighttime. Reminds me of being back at my old riding academy, probably reminding me of the smell of the leather saddles. I would say this would be good to wear on a very stormy night

Quote from my testing card:
Mademoiselle Rochas continually reinvents herself totally chic and remarkably rock 'n' roll. Give in to this woody fruity floral fragance with leathery accents.

This is a very interesting flanker with an attitude. I really like the fragance, very fruity at first but not childlish. Instead is a grown up version of the original mademoiselle but the two of them don't share much.

Madyana

A gentle, soft, pleasant sweet-tea scent with a nice, balanced medical twist. Beautiful bottle with a metal cap. A great gift idea for Mademoiselles of all ages!

UnearthlyApothecary

Interesting! This smells just like a popular men’s leather that I can’t recall the name of at the moment. Same faintly fruity fresh leather with underlying ambroxan overdose and dry moss. I actually like it quite a bit but the silage is pretty skin close. The redeemer is that while it does sit close to the skin, it has lasted a good 9 hours. Mademoiselle Black also reminds me a bit of Dalimax Black with the similarity being that dry mossy fruity vibe. I could see this one becoming a love, the dry-down is amazing.

Different bottle today, i dont get the blackberry dominant feel, i get more of the mellow amber, leather, rose feel.
Very nice leather if you can imagine it all overlaid with a rosey sweet feel.

Deep, quiet, not super fruity, ambery ish

dglightblue

i do like this... but its not the same for me on card vs skin.

on tester card i get all the lovely nuances the accords suggest, on my skin its like blackberry is waving a flag.
way better on card. so it must be my chemistry.

card: leather, amber, berry, dusky fuzz, teeny bit sharp, a slight fresh vein, but more cool berry, leather, amber ish. ill test again in cooler weather, still a bit hot an dhumid here

dglightblue

tart berry, sweet, deep layers, a little rounded

Forbiddenjade

Berrish alike his sister in pink, rather generic with a hawthorn twist about perceptible. It is pleasant without being outstanding, no projection or longevity sits as skin scent almost immediately.
Perfect as a gift to an about teen, but it is nothing special.

The bottle looks like a Tire...with the leather bow I don't know why they didn't make the ad with a Girl wearing a Leather Jacket on a Motorcycle. Like that would've been so on point and cool! Like the ad for La Petite Robe Noir Black Perfecto. The bottle is mad cute though and the notes sound delicious.
