For me the female version is the best cologne of the world, a marvellous retro/vintage fragance. But this male-version is totally disgusting. It opens great, as a refreshing and invigorating cool lemonade... then arrives different in an ugly way...it becomes into a glass-cleaner product

danielenachem

Very lemony and airy. I imagine it’ll work very well in the summer. Despite being launched so long ago, it doesn’t feel outdated. Pretty nice cheapie.

SweetPeaPea

Smells Good's review led me here. I love this one. It smells like a lemon candy. Delicious and refreshing for the summer heat, dressed up or dressed down.

Ariete76

Delicious …. I can't stop smelling my wrist, I much prefer it to the one for women, Eau de Rochas woman, here the citrus fruits are cleaner, I smell the lemon and lime a lot, less floral than its female antagonist, I much prefer it long, the verbena and the basil give it a wonderful aromatic side, I then love citrus fruits to death, especially if they are so well made, I would say masterfully, they absolutely don't give me the idea of a dated perfume, on the contrary.... I consider it very current, mastery to the nth degree.

I continue the review, in reality after a good hour or so I notice a lot of the floral part, there is a strong and characteristic smell of oak moss, it continues to fascinate me….

UK-rain

Despite the high votes for lime and lemon, I find the mandarine the main citrus note here...and it's beautiful !

SmoothieOperator

When explaining that the "reminds me of" section should be completely ignored, this would be exhibit 1.

The female version of this fragrance has an eau sauvage-style bottle, and this one shares some notes with eau sauvage, therefore people automatically upvote this as reminding them of eau sauvage. Except for that whole smell thing.

This is an endearingly basic spiced lemonade cologne (emphasis on cologne) that quickly dries down into just spice. I'm not attacking it. At $20, I bought some. It just doesn't smell like eau sauvage.

It reminds me a lot more of old lemon/ginger splashes, some Alvarez Gomez or 4711 would sell.

cassi

Definitely smells like Lemon balm. No more, no less...

Fortyfree

Opens with strong citrus-lemon aromas, it's a little sherberty with a kick of aromatic notes and a touch of vetiver. Also has a green tinge, smells like crushed green citrus-leaves.

It has an oriental feel, is floral, powdery, the notes are quite "spiky".

Starts to develop an orange-citrus note (maybe mandarin) and smells a lot like a fresh, classic-smelling Cologne.

Gets spicier after a while on the skin, with a peppery edge. It also starts to warm and become waxy.

This scent is best for summer days, however, is very fresh so would be acceptable year round. It's also office safe.

Might suit more mature guys better: Ages 25+.

Peformance is good, especially for a citrus forward fragrance, projects well for a couple of hours, lasts as a skin scent 8hrs+ (on my skin).

The opening is similar to a lot of classic citrus aromatics, but the drydown does put me in mind of the original Terre d'Hermes.

Messidor

Citrus and verbena, decorated with light herbaceous and floral notes before some woody vibes kick in. Green and fresh.
It's not a photorealistic citrus fruit (or citrus fruit + some flowers) captured in a perfume as some perfumes try to make. It's a perfume that conveys freshness assisted by composite citrusy aromas. It's a bottle of cool and refreshing juice without any connotation of cloying sweetness. (aldehydes have played a big role)
Not dated at all (side note: this eau and I have similar ages). It's classy and classic.

Unisex. 10/10 summer scent, works for late spring and early fall too.
Longevity is better than many other citrusy juices (but still average more generally). Great price value.

vbs221

10/10. This could very easily be bottled in a Guerlain Aqua Allegoria or Chanel Les Eaux bottle and sell for $120. Really great quality, great bottle. Got my 50ml for $23.

The opening basically smells like lemonade. A few seconds in, you start noticing a clean vetiver and the wonderful lemon verbena, which gives it a premium lemon soap smell. As it dries down, a hint of basil comes through, but nothing overly green.

I don’t detect anything challenging or dated with this one. I was hesitant to blind buy it thinking it may dry down to something old school. Not at all.

If you even remotely like lemon or citrusy fragrances (e.g. L’Eau D’Issey PH, the opening of Habit Rouge), then you will not regret this. It’s a quintessential one.

WARNING! Great scent but watch out for ebay scammers and their "Vintage" BS. Eau de Rochas Homme is a scent that has not changed. Thus, vintage means absolutely nothing with this gem! Honest sellers want $21 to $29 for this juice. Ebay scammers want over $40 to $50. F*ck ebay scammers!

Afc_Croatian

Eau de Rochas exudes what I expect a classic 90's fragrance to be. An era that seemed to capitalize on fresh, citrus fragrances that continue to stand the test of time.
I was excited to purchase this; Not only is it highly-rated, it's notes are promising, the bottle is nostalgic, like something you would put on display in your 90's Manhattan apartment, overall something different in my collection.

And it delivers. Immediately you are hit with a blast of citruses, heavy on the lemon and lime but then the basil helps give a slight herbal undertone, making this fragrance smell clean and natural, far from synthetic. Freesia is always a pleasing note as well, just read the middle notes here, they're all clean and eligent.

For like $25? This is absolutely worth it. However performance is fairly underwhelming.

Okay, I can confidently say that this has grown on me and I've found myself reaching for it more than I thought I ever would over this summer. That goddamn beautiful, effervescent herbal citrus opening is still the highlight of wearing this for me.

Three things.

1. I spent most of this Summer visiting the USA for work, and nobody is wearing this. Seriously though, this summer I've smelled a sea of generic played-out blues, ambroxan heavy types, and boring Dior Homme Cologne style, one-dimensional citruses. I've literally not smelled this once on anyone walking past (a large city in the USA).
2. I've found because the opening and mid are just so damn freakin good, I can live with the gloomy oak moss dry down, which comes later (I like oak moss in fragrances, just not so much in citrus fragrances specifically). Most importantly, I've noticed that the oak moss is more present/noticeable when you smell it up close and doesn't actually project out into the air in the scent bubble that is actually around you.
3. The scent/quality/price point value factor is just too damn good to ignore. For this last point alone it is worth buying, seriously this has one of the absolute BEST openings on a citrus-based fragrance I have ever encountered. Period. And you're paying peanuts for it compared to something like Dior Homme Cologne or Terre d'Hermes Eau Givree.

Edit 10/17/23: Now that summer is over, I want to reiterate that this is an absolute bonafide home run of a summer fragrance. I love this juice. An absolute timeless classic. A masterpiece. They could sell this for much more than what it currently goes for, exceptional quality for the price point.

razorsedge

Simply amazing and highly underrated summer scent .
Fresh, juicy, zesty (not soft) lemon and citruses and green notes, very much in style of older classic men's fragrances like Eau Sauvage. Does have similarities to Rochas Original 1949 and reminds me of Lauder for men for some reason. Maybe because it has that classic vintage feel to it while still being pleasing and relevant to this day.
Very refreshing and classy, and helps with thirsty feeling during the summer heat.

Reviewing the reformulated version.

Initial spray onto my wrist = Yikes, it literally smells like gross synthetic lemon dishwashing liquid. What on earth are all of these comments on about!?

A couple of minutes later, when it settles = Ohhhhhhhhh, there it is! Fresh, sparkling natural citrus with a tart, herbal bite. Devine :)

Unfortunately, later in the dry-down, it loses the bulk of its strength = That beautiful sparkling citrus dies away into nothing, and you're craving a return of that fresh citrusy herbal sparkle...

The dry down is definitely where any of the "dated" mentions in the other reviews below are stemming from.

The first burst is nothing like the comments below described when they talk about realistic, natural-smelling citrus combos. But give it a minute or two, and this develops into one of the most pleasant, aromatic citrus scents I have enjoyed smelling.

This would be a great alternative for someone in their late 20s and up who is looking for an alternative to the more popular casual summer frags, and wants more of a mature vibe. A great value pick for someone who doesn't want to smell like just another shower gel freshy like the kids around them.

Ahhhh, if only that divine herbal citrus hung around more in the dry down! :(

Dark Owl

A timeless scent! Still one of the best citrus & wood fragrances I've had the pleasure to experience, the mixed citrus opening (mainly bergamot, lemon and lime to me) is just superb.

I wore this today, sunny & 28°c and alas it did seem to evaporate fairly quickly (after a couple of hours it's a very close scent) but then I did a fair bit of walking in the heat, I doubt too many other similar scents would have done much better.

Not that this is dated (to me) but for a modern take on a similar theme Azzaro Pour Homme Cologne Intense is a very good one too, although it isn't as natural smelling to my nose.

Edit: It's now 7 hours since my review and I can still smell Eau de Rochas on my arms (I initially did a double spray on each forearm), very close yes, but it's still there ( fragrances typically last quite well for me ) 😉

Edit 2: On another site beginning with a 'P' this is marked as discontinued, a real shame if true 😳

chrizla_b

Ridiculously good lemon and cedar classic that punches way above its price point. A little lacking in longevity, but damn this smells good. A summer essential.

miTo

UNDERRATED masterpiece of a citrus aromatic scent, a must in hot weather. It has de SAME lemon accord as in Penhaligons's Bleinheim-Bouquet. Has a mature vibe but NOT OUTDATED...

love it. only lacks longevity (2-4 hours), but that's the perfect excuse to reapply LOL

discardedandroid

Amazing price. Amazing juice. This smells like what I've been looking for, and I hope the performance increases over time and also in the heat. This is a super bright, natural smelling, slightly tangy, mouthwatering lemon/lime. Reminds me of Dior Homme Cologne but this is a bit more grown up. DHC is a sheer wall of white neroli and lemonade, this is a white linen button-up in a tangy citrus grove. Not super juicy, a bit dry and herbal, but definitely bright and citric. Up close there's a lemon/lime sour twang that might be off-putting or slightly reminiscent of a cleaning product but in the air it's a soft cloud of happiness and elegance. Invokes the image of a summer's day in a seaside town on the Amalfi Coast. Absolute no-brainer for an experienced nose looking for a classy daily driver in warm weather, not to mention the incredible value. Highly recommend.

monacelli1

I had almost exactly the same experience as Dead Disney below. The first time I tried this, all I got was artificial lemon reminiscent of furniture polish. I'm not sure if it took my brain a while to get used to it, or if introducing a little air into the bottle caused the top notes to settle down a bit. Now this is one of my favorite citrus forward fragrances, and one of my favorite fragrances period. It's unique, and to my mind nothing like Eau Sauvage at all. Eau Sauvage has a dollop of chypre and a stealthy leather accord to connect it to your skin. Eau de Rochas Homme doesn't retread Roudnitska's sleight of hand, sneaking an animalic backbone into a citrus aromatic fragrance. Here Mamounas plays it straight, but makes the fragrance interesting through its floralcy. The carnation and lily of the valley accord serve as pleasantly floral heart notes, connecting the citrus top with the cedar in the base. In Le 3e from Caron, Akiko Kamei and Francoise Caron breathe new life into the fougere structure through clever use of white florals. This fragrance plays a similar game, albeit toned down, with a citrus aromatic--pushing the floral elements, making it easier for men to wear flowers by placing them between citrus and woods. I would hate to be without this one.

Apache1830

Very good fresh scent for the summer.

Opening is strong and spicy in a way.

Dry down is nice. But unfortunately, poor longevity (like probably all lemony/citrus frag).

Not a masterpiece like Eau Sauvage, but for the price and the scent, a very good summer choice.

fana01

I have to admit. Eau de Rochas Homme was the first fragrance that I loved, and you never forget your first love. It's so fresh and clean. The lime basil accord is just lovely. This is how a gentleman smells in summer. The bottle is beautifully designed. This is a must have if you like citrus fragrances.

godfatherfragrance

Good cheap cologne type of scent. You can compare it to 4711. Nothing amazing but ok for the price. 7.4/10

Stoic

My favourite real lemon-citrus fragrance with an Italian gelato refreshment vibe. Surprises with the freshness lasting till the fragrance is gone but is pleasant throughout with a very nice vetiver-woody dry down. I love this fragrance for a sunny mood and enjoy the occasional unexpected whiff that hits my nose. A classic that is absolutely up-to-date with no old frag connotations. Hasn't met its match yet that could replace this gem; one of my best-loved all-time picks. Am actually surprised about the low number of votes and that this does not receive more review time and love on YouTube, especially when compared to the high number of sweet run-of-the-mill summer frags out there. In mho, EdRH beats most of them in terms of realistic lemon freshness and uniqueness. Hope more people will give this a well deserved try.

Limones dentro de un gavetero de madera en una habitación húmeda. Bonita composición y cumple bien su propósito. Aunque es difícil encontrar una mejor colonia cítrica (limón) en el mercado, no pagaría mucho por este perfume. (perfumeros.com)

Lemons inside a wooden chest of drawers in a wet room. Nice composition and fulfills its purpose well. Although it is hard to find a better citrus (lemon) cologne on the market, I would not pay much for this perfume. (Perfumeros.com)

The Fiddling Dude

I have two bottles of this. Bottle 1, a 1.7 oz which is mostly clear (barely yellow), is an elegant fresh smooth zesty lemon fragrance that would work for either daytime or evening in spring and summer, dressed up or down. It is fairly strong and stays fresh for hours. It is a 10 out of 10! Bottle 2, which is a more yellow-colored 3.4 oz I bought because I loved the fragrance so much, definitely has a great lemon side to it, but is just as much a woody fragrance. It is weaker, requires more sprays, and dries down to smell like a good woody citrus shaving foam. It seems more suitable for casual daytime wear in the summer. It is an 8 or 9 out of 10.

VIPMEN

best citrus perfume i smelled. Its lasts a decent amount of time for a fresh perfume. So juicy and refreshing. Sady here in argentina you can't find it easily and its costs a lot (like every perfume here... even basic ones like ck be)

Reeper702

This isn't your normal average citrus. If you buy this one expecting that you will not like it. Instead go in thinking of a very herbal bitter citrus almost like a very tart lime with herbs. It's very nice but definitely smells dated to me.

Tyriel

Oh, wow. I was not expecting this from a fragrance that has been on the market for nearly 30 years. It smells surprisingly unique. I love citrus summer fragrances. I have (had) quite a few and this one truly sets itself apart from the rest. It is on the lighter side though. So do not expect a performance monster. If you love bright, slightly tart citrus scents, you will love this. The price is also great! A 200ml bottle will set you back only $50-ish. Good bang for your buck.

Mishitsu

this is by far the best citrus summer fragrances for men of all times. its so classy and clean and fresh and elegant...Its also very versatile when it comes to the age group

jarno1208

I like it. Very nice classic fresh citrus scent for summer days. It has lime as main citrus note which makes it a bit different than current citrus heavy scents on the market.

Dark Owl

This truly deserves the title of 'affordable gem'. Surely one of the best citrus openings I've experienced, the lemon in particular. This is brilliantly blended, it doesn't smell dated nor modern/current (ie ambroxan or sweet etc), it simply smells timeless. I sense many men's fragrances in the past 25 years or so were inspired by this superb citrus & wood scent.

A fantastic fragrance, particularly in warm, even hot weather. Very good longevity for this type of scent with a noticeable yet elegant scent trail.

Cinema Paradiso

I'm blown away. It's in my top 5 scents of all time regardless of the price tag.

Pélissier

It smells like the matron of the house.

BenDayDot

A very classic warm weather freshie, beautiful lemon and herbs giving a licorice effect, bright and sharp for a bit but mellowing into clean musk. Smooth and inoffensive, not exactly natural smelling to me but also excluding any of the assaultive synthetics so common in current fresh scents. Really well crafted and enjoyable.

A.K.48004L

Mainly a lemon lime with some sweetness that broke the citrusy sharpness with aromatics undertone, easy refreshing scent, pleasurable and likeable, this type of scent like it almost can't get old specially at this quality which amazing not smelling synthetic or overly chemical and I will not exaggerate and say it's like creed neroli sauvage quality which they share "some" undeniable similarities but this is really a good quality, at this price and this type of scent you can't go wrong and with an acceptable performance as a fresh scent. also enjoyable in cool days. Worth trying imo.

Fabricio

Very good and refreshing. Think lightly sweetened lemonade with a herbal drydown. One of my faves.

Dark Owl

This fantastically bright scent reminds me of lemon sherbet and even lemon sorbet (without the sugar!) in the opening, perfect on sunny spring days, I think this fragrance is quite underrated or at least overlooked! Not modern nor dated (ok maybe a little or perhaps 'traditional' would be more suitable word), it's one of those timeless scents that doesn't smell like it's from the era in which it was created (1993) either. The dry down eventually becomes woodier but there's still an ever-present citrus fizz. A must try for fans of citrus, lemon in particular!

ViceCity

I like the smell of natural jasmine and lily of the valley and also liked past Rochas women perfumes (Mum used to own one), so I thought this would be a good choice for me. Instead I was quite disappointed. The jasmine scent is almost non-existent, totally overpowered by the opening citrusy notes. Even after a few hours it is hard to smell anything other than citrus from this one.

It's OK when I need something "fresh and easy" but I don't have much praise to make for it. Guess I just don't have much luck with French brands: this is my second purchase from a French house and both times I've been disappointed. I've bought supermarket fragrances for a quarter of the price which gave me greater satisfaction than Eau de Rochas.

FirstSense

This is a very dry bitter citrus fragrance where the lemon and lemon verbena play a prominent role. After that citrus blast there is a herbal green crispy path. I smell the flowers and the clean aldehydes. Then the bitterness takes over again with spices and a dry somewhat powdery musk. I don’t think it’s a very pleasant citrus frag, it smells a bit old fashioned and is somewhat boring. Dior and Chanel are much better and far more pleasant (Eau Sauvage, Homme Cologne, Allure, Pour Monsieur). Offcourse for a much higher cost. The longevity is average for a citrus and I like the bottle except the cheap looking plastic cap. So why did I purchase this one? Well, this one really shines on very hot days in late spring and summer. Than the real purpose of this Eau de Rochas comes alive. The dry bitter citrus lemon without any sticky sweetness is utterly refreshing and uplifting like an ice cold glas of dry lemon tonic. It drags you through the heat in the office or on the road or the hot city sidewalk. That’s why I keep my big 200 ml bottle for those very hot days hidden in the back of my closet so I can overspray this more functional than lovely characteristic citrus gem.

Onionmk

I don't have extensive experience with this scent. I've only tested it a handful of times but can definitely say this. It has more in common with Neroli Sauvage than it does with Dior Eau Sauvage for sure.

The lemon verbena is a key note right from the opening - it adds a bitterness to the fragrance which is not present in Eau Sauvage but is somewhat present in Neroli Sauvage. I personally wouldn't bother with this fragrance unless you're after a bitter/sour lemon experience. For me, there wasn't much development apart from a woodiness that appears in the mid onwards. The longevity and projection is quite poor as to be expected for the price and scent profile.

Personally, I would save the money and just buy Eau Sauvage EDT. For around twice the price you get a much more pleasant scent with development and decent performance. However, if you're adamant to find a reasonably priced alternative to Neroli Sauvage, this is where a purchase would make sense. Just note, you may miss the characteristic creed ambergris note as there is no substitute here. Overall I give it a 6/10 but then again it's not my type of scent so take that with a pinch of salt.

soderqp

Brilliant balanced, a crisp delicious lemon/lime/bergamot dries down to a elegant woody finish. Uncomplicated but still it has a beautiful complexity to it. Fresh and elegant at the same time.Unique in the sense it has classic notes but still a very modern feel, this can never get dated. Perfect for day use in my opinion. I use it as my goto gym-fragrance , three sprays after shower and i know i smell good . Hands down my best gym fragrance. In a world of thousands different fragrances to chose from I'd say this is one of the safest buy you can make. The quality for the price is hard to beat. Only big drawback it doesnt last long on me, i only get 2-3 hours or so and the projection is not the best.

courant

Portofino here we come. Monaco Grand Prix, hugely likeable and sunny but smells of money too.

DodgersLH714

Wow does not smell dated, this is a great scent for summer love it!

mutatismutandis

Eau de Rochas Homme really gives you value for value for money! I find it lasts well over 12 hours on me so you certainly get a bang for your buck!

It opens with lemon, lime, bergamot, mandarin, lemon verbena, something green and coriander. It's lovely and bright.

35 minutes in you still get the citruses but they're joined by floral notes and aldehydes and a hint of vetiver.

Three hours in and it's become a floral perfume. You get lily of the valley, freesia, jasmine, a hint of pine, a hint of violet, a hint of rose, a touch of carnation, oakmoss and musk. It's a skin scent at this stage.

Four and a half hours in and it's become smoother and more rounded. Six hours in and it's a musky floral. Seven hours in and it's a soapy, musky floral. If you go for a walk or do some physical exertion it will start projecting more even at this stage. It lasts for over twelve hours in total. It's really a perfume for warmer weather and the daytime but I think it works in early autumn too. I wouldn't pick it for winter though.

Dcarlo

On the top notes this is a delightful citrus explosion with aquatic notes and all the charm of a summer vacation.
Curiously I found this gorgeous fragrance like an upgraded and a classier Cool Water. On my skin it has clear aquatic notes that when mixed with the floral notes of the heart and the chypre base makes it my perfect choice for the beach or summer time getaways.
An amazing performance and a true compliment inducer.
Can’t understand why this is not so popular.
Very secretly kept and that’s how I will keep this wonderful fragrance since I don’t want anyone else around me to wear it.
Adorable!

sapeur1999

An unique fresh citrus scent, on first smell immediately transported me to my childhood and the smell of opening a tin of Cavendish and Harvey sour lemon drops. This perfume's projection seems to vanish from my skin as fast as the candies melted in my mouth, but it lives as a skin scent for 8+ hours and what a joy it brings!

WGG

Fantastic citrus based freshie which beats Neroli Sauvage at its own game. Performance isnt great but such fun to wear. At current price this isnt just a safe blind buy, its a must buy - just go for it!

Ramseysmellsgood

Recently on ACs youtube chanel @smellsgood he did a collaboration video with mr smelly and they compared the new viking cologne at the start to eau de rochas. While i wont argue that point i will say if you have ever tried neroli sauvage these are brothers & they are very very close. If you can find the vintage formula with the clear cap that one is even closer to neroli sauvage than the new formula once p&g took rochas over. Still value for money is out of this world. This is a fragrence in a creed bottle people pay 100s of dollars for. For 20 bucks this is a summer superstar. Masculine and bitter in the opening with the newer formula you will probably get 3 to 5 hours longevity. The vintage gives me 6 to 8 hours constantly every time i have tested this. Amazing that this type of fragrence can be had for so little money. This and all 3 encre noir offerings are some of the best value for money on the planet IMHO in the frag game. Yesterday i wore a Roja and I am litterally getting as much joy out of wearing Eau de Rochas pour homme!!
Not to mention this fragrence has depth. It isnt just citrus pink pepper vetiver.. again i know it is hard to pay 40 bucks for a vintage when you can pay 20 brand new but my goodness the depth here is amazing. And what smells like real oakmoss in the base. Such a gem compared to what is being put out today. If this doesnt put you in a good mood on a hot summer day nothing will. This just feels like the dog days of summer to me. What is interesting to me is that citrus frags arent something i usually enjoy wearing. I will even go as far as saying i hate summer fragrences... but this one has something special. Bravo Rochas. BRAVO

Glyph

I had blind-bought an original small bottle on-line because it was so cheap, and because the reviews were so good. When I tried it, at first I was worried because the initial blast of this is quite bitter: I'm still not entirely sure what in this makes it so (the artemisia? the coriander? both together?). But then the bitterness fairly quickly faded away, and I was left with a very nice and long-lasting heart and dry-down of a sweet lemon-lime accord with soft florals backing it. It smelled quite nice all day long.

The central accord of this has been compared to 7Up and to Sprite, and I can see where those comparisons might be apt; but this smells very natural, where of course the sodapops never do. The florals and musk behind the accord also make it seem much more luxurious, although it wears lightly.

Although this seems to have the earmarks of a classic eau de cologne, it has better projection, and an especially surprising longevity: I was still picking this up a full six hours after my initial sprays. Despite the bitterness of the opening, this was a good investment for a summer fragrance (although I would recommend trying a discount site or e-bay for the best prices--it seems available everywhere on-line, at this writing at least).

Great99

This is good stuff, and for the price you just can’t argue what you get here. Bright citrus in the opening and it dances on your skin before the dry down. In the end you will get a slight sweet woody finish with a clean and fresh vibe. For me it lasts all day, and projects decently for the first four hours. I am really glad I took the advice from Dan (Mr.Smelly) who has a good eye for fragrances that don’t get a lot of attention, but are quality items for anyone’s rotation. Great bottle, solid price, and the perfect addition for summer.

fulopdaniel

It's a very nice, warm citrus scent for spring and summer. The longevity on my t-shirt is okay, on skin it lasts about 10 minutes :( and it projects like 5cm lol. What a waste.. it would be a beautiful scent. I can never understand what is the point of fragrances with zero projection. My laundry detergent has better sillage so far

VIPMEN

amazing lemony (very lemony but not in a synthetic way), very fresh perfume... with good longevity and sillage for this kind of fragrance! PLUS gorgeous bottle . A must-have for spring summer

spartaksci

Oh boy, this is what a very expensive limonade would smell like. So clean and fresh! The price you get this juice for is a steal for the quality of the smell. Performance, i mean, it's a freshie so it is what it is but the scent is beautiful. So versatile too, you can legit wear this to a summer wedding or to the office, dress up or down, doesn't smell "cheap" at all unlike a lot of frags of this category specially for the asking price. Also, doesn't feel like a syntethic bomb...i'm very impressed by this juice. The opening is casual, the drydown is business-like.

This is a no-brainer, blind buy worthy if you like citrus based frags. I just can't see how anyone would not appreciate how you smell wearing this one.

fuzzyrbow

I’m a huge fan of citrus so i like this. Kinda reminds me of natural bug spray - citronella? Drydown you can still smell the citrus with the woody note. The smell is fairly linear imo. I agree with the other reviewers saying this is similar to 7-up or Sprite. If those sodas were a perfume, this would be it. Quite unisex and great value.

Mitronik

I had high hopes and after the blind buy I was a bit disappointed. It's a nice fragrance, but not for me. The opening is amazing. So fresh so clean, citrusy, sauer, and a bit sweet. It smells like lemonade, citronade. But the dry down is so bitter, aldehydic, a blast of oakmoss and not so good vetiver and carnation. (I love vetiver btw) It's suffocating for a spring summer fragrance. I will return it, thank God Notino.bg does that.

aizuwakamatsu

I was really excited by the reviews I read for this one, so I ended up blind-buying it as a spring/summer scent. It opens with a huge lemon blast, but for me it smells like a synthetic household cleaner. The dry-down is a little better, but overall I don't think this fragrance is for me. I thought I would enjoy a predominantly citrus frag, but I'm thinking that citrus just isn't for me. The silage has it sitting right on my skin, but the longevity is amazing so far. I honestly just can't get past the whole "chemical cleaner" smell, so that's what puts it off for me.
4/10 if you don't really like citrus
8/10 if you love citrus

Another great fragrance under the radar!

So citrus, fresh, zest, woody, elegant and manly.
A Lemon and Vetiver bomb.

Eau de Rochas is a Time Machine.
You gonna be transport to 90's!
It is a perfect 90's fragrance.

One of the most complements fragrance that I had.
All women love everytime that I wore it.

I just wish a better performance, longevity is around 6 hours but with a great and strong sillage at first hour.

Absolutely lovely and easy buying again!

Guys, try this awesome perfume.
You will be surprise too.

I´ve had this 20yrs ago and I was probably too young for it as I remember this scent started with very pleasant citrusy-green accord but soon turned into something rubbery and unpleasant on my skin. But today I´ve got it again and while the development is similar (citrusy-green topnotes), instead of rubber I now get mild sweet woody note (probably cedar/amber combo) in the drydown which I find nice and comforting. However it seems to me that longevity was a bit reduced since the early 00s, current version lasts some 4 hours on my skin with weak projection and 2 more hours as a skinscent. Nevertheless I like it - 8/10.

mcollado

I read the reviews, and I ordered this cologne. It was horrible; I trashed it! Need to shower immediately to remove the smell!

ScorpionX

Just a clean and sexy fragrance in my opinion is very unisex. The subtle hint of lily of the valley with citrus overnotes gives a light fresh scent. Perfect summer fragrance.

GGI

I had heard so many wonderful reviews on YouTube about this fragrance, so I just had to get it.

Despite anticipating that intitial blast of heavy citruses(lemon+lime), I just couldn't put my finger on what I was smelling. I was then reminded of the personal review of Miguel Matos, Fragrantica editor and columnist.
Basically, he likened Eau de Rochas Homme to a gin and tonic. Mind you, the initial cap did resemble an ice block. I then got a better understanding of what I was smelling. Thank you Miguel! A gin and tonic on the rocks, with a lime wedge.

It's an absolutely fantastic, classy, citrus aromatic/chypre fragrance, with alcoholic nuances.
Keep this in your rotation for the hot days of Spring and Summer.

I love the inexplicable design at the back of a very classy looking flacon.
Eau de Rochas Homme is an absolute must have for all fragrance connoisseurs.
Price-Quality ratio is UNBELIEVABLE.

Cassiano

When Eau de Rochas Homme hit the market, fragrances with the same olfactory signature already existed, so it didn't represent a major innovation at the time. But it was important for the brand, that the male version was up to the female version, which continued to bring good results with sales, even two decades after its creation.

The acting perfumer of Rochas - Nicolas Mamounas -, who also created the feminine version, bet on a classic citrus-aromatic, which could bring the elegance that existed at the time when the feminine perfume was launched. Going back in time, we had Eau Sauvage (Dior, 1966) and YSL Pour Homme (YSL, 1971), with their citrus accords, floral body, and woody base. The formula was always the same: lots of lemon, bergamot, basil, verbena, geranium, moss, and vetiver.

Eau de Rochas Homme did not escape the rule and brought a composition full of ingredients, just like in the old times, that is, without minimalism.

Officially, there was no talk of reformulation. But along with the repackaging of men's fragrances, which occurred in the 2000s, some adjustments were made in several lines and Eau de Rochas Homme was not left out. Visually, it hasn't changed much, except for the lid. Regarding the fragrance, loyal users since the 90's claim that the recent version is no longer as mossy. However, they say that it is still very loyal to the original version.

On the skin, Eau de Rochas Homme is a refreshing treat. Unlike other perfumes from the competition, this one brings more versatility and a touch of youthfulness. The first stage explodes with a more natural and light aspect, the evolution is not as astringent as in the other fragrances mentioned and the drying does not seem so heavy.

Does this mean that it has left aside the classic style or, as it is popularly called, the “uncle/grandpa” style? No. But the uncle who wears Eau de Rochas Homme is younger, takes care of his appearance, and just turned 40. Which does not mean, that the young man in his twenties, and sober soul, is forbidden to wear this fragrance, just to make it clear.

Obviously, with so many volatile notes, Eau de Rochas Homme is not the best example of trail and longevity. But it is, still, one of the best options available for hot days, if you are that type of user who doesn't get along with watermelon nuances, ozonic accords, or soapy effects.

More than a citrus-aromatic, this perfume has a chypre aura that makes all the difference. In particular, I smell fresh lemonade, slightly sweetened, and without any sour side. It is a clean, fresh, and elegant perfume (without having to take etiquette lessons) and with an invigorating appeal.

Of course, I can only speak for myself, but if you like this type of fragrance, I believe that you will no longer be without a bottle after you know this one.

Decoris Amora

Super cheapie classic that continues to deliver great performance and value.
It's lemon. It's lime. It's orange. And it's bergamot. All coming together for a sparkling fizzy 7-Up and Sprite freshness. It's the grandfather to the likes of Dior Homme, Mercedes-Benz Cologne and Jimmy Choo Man Ice.

Guitar 2016

A blind-buy based on reviews, It is an excellent scent, crisp, bright and clean. This perfume has a masterful blend of notes! It opens up with like fresh citrusy then dry down is woody. It smells so good. You can't go wrong with it, If you like Eau Sauvage and Armani Eau Pour Homme, you will like this one. The art of bottle design is very wonderful. It is perfect for the spring and summer. I really enjoy it and I love Eau de Rochas Homme. Highly Recommend.
Two Thumbs Up.

Blind bought Rochas Eau de Rochas Homme after reading reviews on the web. And wow, the quality of this juice is above my expectations.

The opening is ice crisp lime and lemon verbena that settles in to gentle aldehydes. Also from the very beginning there is pine needle accord. I clearly get what others are saying that after the opening the scent reminds cleaning products. But for me this delicate chemical vibe is what makes this perfume so special. Eau de Rochas Homme could be described as old school lemon fragrance, but also it has something very modern, almost in CdG style, because of this synthetic aspect. In the drydown cedar and vetiver are the main players, also I like that bitter sweetness of verbena remains almost till the end.

Longevity - fell almost nothing after 4 hours. But still better than most of citrus colognes that I have.

Sillage - moderate, and for me it is perfect for everyday summer fragrance.

I strongly recommend Rochas Eau de Rochas Homme. Great stuff

Lemon with depth (or rather lemon verbena with depth).

This has fast become one of my favourite summer scents. You know from the opening exactly what you're getting, as the fragrance is fairly linear. It has a luscious citrus brightness with a fair amount of greenness from the lemon verbena note. The florals give it an extra dimension with almost a sweetness that is never overly cloying, and the amber and musk give it real sticking power with the whole scent being grounded by vetiver.

This lasts and lasts on my skin, and even if I've sprayed it on around midday I can still get a hint of it after the sun's gone down in midsummer, and not just the base notes. For the price, one hell of a summer scent.

stickaforkinit

Reminds of lemon sherbet sweets.

Ticktock

Great scent! I bought this recently for the warmer weather and I really enjoy it. I'm actually wearing it today, jumped out the shower and sprayed..

I get a big blast of freshly cut lime and lemon verbena mainly. There's also a sweet note in there.

To my nose it is virtually identical to L'Occitane's Lemon Verbena.
It's very fresh and green and slightly effervescent before the dry down.
Perfect for summer, a day at the beach or a safe bet in the office. It's light and airy so I can't see it offending anyone. Well blended and elegant. Classy work Rochas!
Lovely bottle as well.

HugoN

I received this in the mail today, immediately put it on. Must say I get a blast of Verbena more the sweet lemony smell of verbena than Sharp lemon. With a woody soft green note. It’s vey fresh and comforting, like it feels like home. I like. Beginning of winter here in South Africa, but I can see I would wear it definitely in Summer. But also on a nice sunny day day in winter.

pronose

The perfect scent for the summer days !

OntheMark

EDR is to me what the likes of Dior Homme Cologne or Jimmy Choo Ice might've been like, had they been released 25-30 years ago. Which is to say vibrantly bright, but with a few too many ingredients adding a bit of odd dirtiness to what is otherwise pristinely clean. The whole contributes to a sour/dirty, almost lemongrass vibe more than a lemon one.

The most dominant notes to my nose are lemon verbena, lemon and some lime. But the addition of such things as "amber," coriander and vetiver just dull the brightness and hold EDR back from its full potential -- at least from a modern perfume perspective.

I like it nonetheless, but there are simply better options for those who like a bright and natural citrus scent that also lasts at least a bit longer. DHC, JCI (as mentioned above), Mercedes Benz Cologne (in the light blue/greenish bottle), AdP Bergamotto, etc., just to name a few from my own collection.

Austrian_in_Denmark

This is an amazing scent. I am not surprised by the high ratings, because it is hard to imagine a more refreshing and classy perfume. Eau de Rochas is a cannot-go-wrong kind of perfume that fits all occacions, but I do think it is best in warm weather. It has moderate sillage and longevity.

To me, Eau de Rochas holds special memories, transporting me back to a year that I spent in Spain. Officially to study, inofficially to party and experience a lot of emotional turmoil. Just ask any Erasmus student how it goes. (For those from other parts of the world and with possibly less frivolous scholarship associations: Erasmus is a well-known and widespread scholarship given by the European Union.)

I hope that all the sexy, decadent and crazy people I once partied with are safe and sound and still smelling beautifully - of Eau de Rochas or otherwise.

smellyoul8ter

First let’s start with the good: I love the bottle design. It has a quality atomizer. The scent I get is a tart lemon citrus rounded balanced with white florals. It’s uplifting first thing in the morning

Now let’s get the bad out: the performance, at least from my bottle, is horrendous! I’ve sprayed 8-10 sprays on me before making my 30 min daily commute and it’s gone before I step out of the car.

Final thoughts: I like the scent. Hate the performance

smellsbells

When i had my bottle all i smelled was lemonnnnnnnnn..lemon..lemon...like a cleaner kind of and it was weak anyhow so sold it. They bottle was heavy which put it into priority mail shipping and that sucked. lol

OdorMiris

Interesting refreshing brew...I needed something for the hotter days of Spring as well as the dog days of Summer. Having used my last sprays of Azzaro Pour Homme L'Eau, I turned to Eau de Rochas Pour Homme based on a majority of favorable reviews here and elsewhere. Quite the surprise. For openers, I am NOT a fan of aquatics or marine scents (of which this is neither but, IMHO a citrus aromatic) yet I find that most of my collection is inappropriate for hotter months so I'm forced to play along...
Opening: Somewhat disappointing..all I get is Lime, Lime, Lime and a bit of Lemon hard candy. My first thoughts took me back 50 years to a strange fragrance called English Leather Lime. All Lime...not much else. First thought was that I only purchased a 1.7oz bottle for a pittance so no harm done. But after a while...
Dry Down: What a beautiful fragrance! There is an herbal sweet note(s) that softens the scent to something unlike any other fragrance out there. The Lime continues strong but plays very well with other notes.
Up side: Works well for the office, meeting with clients, any professional setting as well as a lazy Saturday afternoon BBQ. Can be used effectively in the evenings on those unbearably hot days. Very 'all purpose' and inoffensive to all but the dyed in the wool fragrance haters.
Down side: Wave bye-bye in short order. Absolutely NO longevity but for the price, who cares? Simply refresh as needed.
All in all, a very decent hot weather fragrance that is set apart from many other mundane scents out there. For the price and the fragrance, I'll give it a two thumbs up!

neinmuses

underrated gem that's perfect for the spring and summer.

the lemon-lime in the open is so refreshing that I will sometimes spray this on my chest in the morning to perk me up and brighten the day. it's also green and sparkling from the nice blend of woods and aldehydes. as it dries down, the vetiver and floral notes become more pronounced, while the zesty citrus fades to a quiet murmur.

at prices this low, there's really no reason to not have this in your collection.

stickaforkinit

I get lemon sherbet sweet smell

TrephineArtist

I wore this today (6 sprays-sprayer isn't generous) layered with a few sprays of Lalique Encre Noire. Working in the woods on a sunny, fairly mild day (for the winter season). Very nice, I really do wish the opening fresh citrus blast lasted a bit longer though! I could still detect a faint hint of the Rochas several hours later but more so the Lalique.

Anyway just thought I'd share that blend, I enjoyed it.
Still highly recommend this fragrance which really does open with some superb citrus.

Vapor Trail

Eau de Rochas is a fresh, subtle, and classy piece of fragrance history.

It has HEAVY lemon and the lemon verbena in the opening. Obviously much nicer than your typical cleansing agent, but I can see why some might think it resembles Pledge or whatever.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how much you like lemon) that opening dissipates pretty quickly, giving way to a smooth, warm concoction of florals, woods, and a bit of moss. It steers the fragrance in a much more masculine direction than the opening would suggest, and it's much appreciated given how many citrus fragrances these days dry down to a simple musky base.

As nice as this fragrance is, as other reviewers have alluded to, it just doesn't last. I need to go 7-8 sprays to get any sort of performance out of it. Luckily, it's cheap and easily stored (the bottle is as space-efficient as it is beautiful!) so I guess that's a decent trade-off.

Performance issues aside, this is a nice fragrance to own, especially if you're into the evolution of the contemporary "freshie." It does smell "classic" but not dated, and it's always fun to smell clean fragrances that don't draw heavily from ADG, Cool Water, GIT, etc.

Definitely worth the price if you're looking for something to just freshen up with.

NickZee

Came here to vote that it smells like Creed’s exquisite Neroli Sauvage and saw that two people had already beat me to it. After subsequent wearings, I have noticed that the dry down doesn’t have the detailed woodiness of the Creed. However, the drydown does have some great white florals and hedione, similar to Eau Sauvage but more casual while strikingly beautiful. They essentially just share the same lovely verbena note in the opening and then become different fragrances after 15 minutes.

freewheelingvagabond

Note: Review is of the current version.

Eau de Rochas Homme is a straightforward citrus scent with lemon, lime and other notes, but unfortunately has too much lemon verbena for me which gives off a coconut oil aroma and turns too sweet on my skin too soon. I prefer my citrus scents to be more crisp, aromatic or even musky, leathery or woody. Sillage and duration are both adequate for this style of fragrance based on a liberal application. It's also a bit too synthetic/chemical for its own good.

blind-bought this based on the reviews here and youtube --- the blend of citrus/floral/wood creates a sublime smell mosaic ... classy, fresh and sexy

errbin

this is utterly beautiful...

Fantastic citrus and cedar perfectly safe for any casual setting

I wear this to run quick errands/shopping and it's one of my favorites for the gym (gotten several compliments there)

The first initial spray it is very lemony up close and little furniture cleaner realm but the dry down sillage is where this fragrance dances you'll get whiffs of a beautiful citrus with a clean lite wood

doesn't smell dated either and for the price definitely worth getting

stateff

I blind-bought this based on the reviews I read here. The package just arrived and I couldn't wait to try it out. Because of my allergies right now I am a bit anosmic at the moment, but this smells just gorgeous! It has that light old EDC vibe, that ethereal citrus. I love it!

TrephineArtist

I finally got myself a bottle (new formulation).

This is such a lovely spring & summer scent. It doesn't smell dated but rather has a little of that classic 'eau de cologne' vibe coming from the lemon & verbena, which combined with the other citrus ingredients here produces a scent pretty much like sunshine in a bottle. Or rather like drinking a cold citrus fruit juice on a warm sunny day.

Unlike the previous reviewer I do pick up on some vetiver and oak moss but they're not too strong. I don't smell any floral notes or basil though!

The only disappointing thing as stated in the review below mine is that the performance isn't too great. At all! However I bought my bottle at a bargain price so can go heavy with the sprays of this timeless and simple (despite the long note-listing!) beauty!

Update; anyone with a sweet-tooth like me will recognise a nice fizzy lemon sherbet vibe! :D

Batch - 24G44G270 (modern formulation)

One of the best bargain generic masculine citruses ever produced. The bottle is solid, the atomizer generates a thick mist and the scent...well...

It's true that the opening has a strong lemon presence, but it's quite obviously combined with lime and bergamot, which incidentally both outlast the lemon note within minutes. It's also not as photo-realistic as many people make it sound, especially since there are clear differences next to a freshly cut lemon.

But it's the differences that make this stuff shine. Within about 15 minutes, the verbena comes out in full force and combines with cedar and amber to create the overall aroma of a hard, lemon candy - similar to what you might find at the top of Hanae Mori's HM, but with an even stronger similarity to Green Irish Tweed thanks to the supporting green notes.

As the scent continues to break down, the progression briefly takes a turn to the sour side (think coriander from Drakkar Noir) but still complemented by that GIT verbena and a slightly more masculine undertone. From there, it settles into a soft blend of limey, greeny, musty woodiness that slowly fades into the dusk like a warm sunset on a cool spring evening.

If you're concerned about this smelling dated or overly mature from the threat of aldehydes or vetiver, you can rest easy. I really don't get any clear vetiver, aldehydes, basil, oakmoss or florals. At least not in the new formulation.

As for the comparisons with lemonade, they couldn't be farther from the truth IMO. Yes, it's fresh for the first few minutes (it's more of a lime anyway), but definitely not sugary sweet or aquatic. Whatever sweetness there is comes from the whisper of amber in the base, and even that is far less pronounced than what you'll find in both Versace's Man Eau Fraiche and ADG (surprise! They're both amber fragrances too!).

The worst part is the performance. Projection is almost non-existent and total longevity on my skin is about 3.5 hours. As a result, unless you're looking for a non-neroli replacement for your 4711, I probably wouldn't recommend this as a purchase. The smell is fantastic for a generic masculine citrus, but the performance really doesn't warrant a buy. Otherwise, if this lasted 6 hours plus with great projection, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a backup bottle. Or two.

Scent - 8.5/10
Longevity - 4/10
Projection - 3/10
Overall - 6.5/10 - W.I.L.L. - wish it lasted longer.

RB75

Perfect summer vacation scent. Apply in the morning, put it in your bag, bring to the beach, for evening dinner. Use up a 50 ml bottle in 2 weeks. Can not go wrong with this one. Fresh citrus / vetiver and there is also some sweet lemon flower in the opening. Soft silage and 4-5 h longevity.

RWF

Blind bought this fragrance as the reviews described a scent a typically really enjoy... and i'm not disappointed!

Eau De Rochas is everything I hoped it would be. It opens with a burst of lime that quickly starts to smell like a mojito that was just poured into a glass. The hyper realistic lime is very present along side the greener notes (Lemon Verbena notably) and together they create a wonderful refreshing scent that I just can't stop smelling.

This isn't a projection monster, but that isn't a problem as it is for the hot summer days where fresh and airy is appropriate. Some people say this smells outdated but 30 seconds after the initial spray I don't see that and i'm in my 20's.

100% worth checking out, great value for money.

Jack_Hunter

A stunning fresh citrus fragrance that just never stops giving. From the beautiful burst of lemon and lime in the opening to the herbal floral's in the mid-notes this scent has it all.

The way the fresh citrus mixes in with the florals that lead to the woody base has you wondering why the fragrance cost is so affordable.

The projection is moderate and I get about six hours from a healthy six sprays. As it's a citrus fragrance you can be generous in it's application.

I cannot express enough how good this smells for a freshie, it smells better than scents five times it's price. Big thumbs up from me!

Thomaso7

lemony citrus & pine. a light chypre base.
Almost like a martini.
Nice bottle.
Quite a bit too generic and boring for me though. I has a almost cold watery citrus smell, but it does have a chypre base giving it some interest.

Rory1234

Bright. Refreshing. There's a nasty note on the opening and I don't know what it is but it leaves quickly. Great fresh spring summer frag

Tdrabbach

This fragrance is exactly what I was expecting/hoping it would be, and it's great! It is severely lacking in longevity though, but I knew that going in.

Spring : a sunny Saturday, nothing to do but just enjoying life. Oh yeah that's when i wear this gem.
Lemon & Lime done in a good way !

I had read some of the reviews here about this perfume, some call it dated, others simple, others a true citrus fragrance and so on. For me is just one word: classic. This is how a fresh perfume has to be done, not too overpowering, not too harsh, not too simply, just right. It is sad that a true good fragrance can be soooo underrated for another too expensives ones or mainstrean ones.

gregk

Wow! I ordered this one online as a blind buy, and I love it. I think enough has been said about it given how long it's been around, but I would rank this right up there with scents like Bond No 9 Eau de New York, and Acqua Viva, a couple of my favorite citrus-dominant scents.

It opens with vibrant, almost candied citrus, which gives way to some herbal notes. Very refreshing and brings to mind a lemon infused glass of water. The bright citrus notes seem to last quite a while - on clothing at least. This is the aspect that reminds me of the bright lemon drop note I get in Acqua Viva. Though the longevity probably wouldn't compare, for the price I am more than satisfied, and wish I knew about this stuff sooner!

dabatch

this is how its done. the perfect citrusy yet manly fragrance. if youre in your 30's already, you dont need to look any further. is it modern? no. is it classy and original? sure. (the beautiful bottle is also worth mentioning.)

Lemon, lemon verbena, basil and lime blast up front that quickly fades a little, but remains for an hour or two. It becomes a skin scent of lemon, basil and something earthy that I think is oakmoss and musk. There are other notes present that I can't identify yet, but I can't believe the quality for this price. It comes across as more natural than synthetic.

If you like lemon, this is a safe blind buy all day long. I've reapplied it so much in the first two days that I've put a sizable dent in the juice already, so I'm already planning to get a backup bottle.

This is so enjoyable, I wouldn't mind bringing a 10ml travel spray with me.

mktexan

Love. Pure citrus blast. Walking through a lemon/lime grove. The oakmoss/vetiver base takes the sharpness out of the citrus perfectly. A bargain gem. Wear Dior Homme Cologne when you need to impress others and Rochas Eau de Rochas when you want to please yourself.

Highoctanehome

Super cheap and natural smelling freshie that just makes you feel good when you spray it which makes it a safe blind buy.

Although it only lasts about two hours on my skin, I still love it for its terrific, happy citrusy opening. My recommendation is to get a couple of bottles before this classic gem is discontinued.

smellsbells

I LIKE THE LEMON TOp but extremely poor performance overall- nice bottle and heavy but juice inside should be ashamed.

Castlerock

Only my second review and I feel compelled to stand up in praise of Eau de Rochas.

Beautiful transparent citrus: a layer appropriate for even the hottest summers, its quality surpasses its pricetag by a mile. A perfect vacation scent, and one of the better performers for a citrus.

Only slightly synthetic while the alcohol burns off. Superbly blended overall, a drydown your nose needs to chase to its route, fleeting yet satisfying. Something distinctly 90s here and in no bad way. Highly recommend.

TrephineArtist

I tried this out in a store today (finally!) and wow! Eau de Rochas homme is so lemon-zesty! In some ways I wish I'd bought this instead of my (rather generic & weak performing) recent summer acquisition Mercedes-Benz Cologne-they're not similar (apart from the lemon vibe) but both are good for the hot weather.

I think this fragrance has more to it than just a summer citrus scent though, it's quite refined and rich with many different notes that can be picked up on at certain times. There's a lot of citrus & florals but I also smell the verbena, vetiver and cedar in the musky/woody dry-down in which the citrus is ever-present.

Very nice fragrance 25 years on, apparently it's aged particularly well!

brandonR

It's RL Romance Silver with a lemon summer opening. Nice. The more it dries down, the more you'll be reminded of the Silver connection. I was fortunate enough to score a vintage 3.4 oz bottle, so I'll be using sparingly.

Word to the wise, if you want to get in on this one, go vintage and buy now. Ebay is flooded with reformulations and the older version is getting hard to find in anything larger than a 1.7 ounce. Look for the white at the top of the box.

Bullrider23

The best lemon citrus scent that I own. I'm wearing it now where the weather here in New York has been 90 degrees, Eau de Rochas has been used a lot this summer, a bright, uplifting fragrance that I'll be wearing not only this summer, but for the early fall as well. Thanks to UK Frag Guy from Youtube for reviewing this gem of a scent.

Forever Neil

This is a nice fragrance to wear after a shave and a shower on a spring day. Overall, it's zesty and lemon fresh smelling.

This fragrance doesn't have as much personality as the lemon heavy Allure Homme Sport Cologne (clear bottle). Allure Homme Sport cologne has personality because of the sharp notes, while this fragrance doesn't have any sharp notes.
Eau De Rochas Pour Homme has a much more likable scent on it's opening right out of the shower. I'd also compare this to Bucheron by Bucheron which is also lemon heavy. Bucheron Homme has the best smelling opening lemon scent out there, although the dry down on Bucheron is nauseating to me and reminds me of old lady perfume. (just my opinion)
This is the least offensive of the three, and the best overall for someone else sniffing you.
For me, I do get a strong smell of lemons as if you just cut open a real lemon. The scent isn't synthetic at all. When I take a longer sniff, I get a bit of musk which I don't really enjoy. This scent smells great on you, and I don't really like the long close up sniff of this because of the hint of musk towards the end of my sniff. The drydown is where this edt shines. It's about 80% lemon and 20% vetiver. In other words, it smells like a dirty lemon. This may sound horrible, but I really enjoy it. It's basically an enjoyable light scent which is non-offensive, but doesn't really have a personality that stands out. Overall, it's a great sub $25 fragrance that you will enjoy, and most people that sniff you will enjoy. I feel that it suits a man 30 years or older best. Great for a spring day. Check me out on utube under the same name because I do plan on giving my complete thoughts on this fragrance. My video review is here.

A good refreshing cologne after the shower in a hot summer day.
Nice citrus scent in the opening.
On my skin terible performance, one hour max.

Fresh, summer citrus done right.

An initial blast of lemon-heavy citrus hits you with a sunny burst. A few minutes later, as the citrus recedes a bit in intensity, I get fresh green as verbena and basil make an appearance. Settles into a floral heart before the oakmoss and vetiver pop through in the blend.

I also get a note of something that reminds me bit of ginger, but I suspect it's the coriander seed mixing with those bright citrus notes. I get no amber, and very little, if any, of the darker florals (rose, carnation, violet), mostly freesia and lily. Kudos to Nicolas Mamounas for adding jasmine to this with such subtlety, rather than the usual cloying, headache-inducing sweetness.

Everything about this says light, airy, some may even say watery, though it doesn't have much in the way of traditional aquatic notes, it does have a bit of an oceanic, beach breeze vibe as well.

One of the things that I love most about this (besides the mystifyingly cheap price) is its surprising similarity to Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. I haven't seen anyone else mention that, so maybe it's just me. This is a little heavier on the citrus, but both have very prominent lemon and vetiver notes. Grey Vetiver is the superior performer, but at this price, don't hesitate to spritz a midday refresher if you need to.

Longevity: 7/10 (4-5 hours, not great, not terrible)
Sillage: 7/10 (Soft to moderate)
Versatility: 9/10 (Can be sporty, casual, or even business casual/semi formal, dress it up or dress it down)
Value: 10/10 ($20-$25 for 100 mL)
Scent: 10/10 (One of the best in my collection)
Overall: 10/10

Bottom line: Bright, summery, refined, elegant, well-blended, and a must-have for every collection. And at this price (mine was 100 mL/3.4 oz for around $20), there's no reason not to add it to your collection. I'm very pleased that after 25 years, this is still available!

I never hear ANYONE in the fragrance community talk about this one, which is a real shame; this is a real sleeper. I'm going to try to not repeat what others have said. I'll just say that this is a great bang for your buck. This doesn't really resemble ADP Bergamotto Di Calabria to me. However, if you enjoy fragrances along the lines of Chanel Pour Monsieur, Dior Eau Sauvage, Armani Eau Pour Homme, etc. this is right up there with those. This is pretty light in terms of projection so don't be scared to douse yourself down with 10+ sprays.

Every time I wear Eau de Rochas, I am disappointed...that I didn't discover it sooner. I only recently purchased a bottle and I've been wearing it a lot. I live in the desert and this is perfect hot weather cologne.

At first spray, this is very sweet, but that fades fast. What you are basically left with is a very simple, delicate citrus scent. I do get the woods, florals, and basil, but they are really soft and just give a boost to all the citrus.

This isn't strong cologne and you have to spray pretty heavy for it to last, but it is downright beautiful. This is an instant mood elevator...happiness in a bottle for me. Love this stuff.

Thomaso7

Interesting - it's a pine-y citrus, or a citrus with a chypre base as Rochas decribes it. I get more chypre than citrus, but it's still a nice scent to wear. it's similar to Capucci pour Homme actually, minus the cinnamon add the pine, but it's a dirty pine like smelling pine in the dirt rather than a green straight pine. The good thing is, it doesn't have cinammon whih I generally dont like, but still it is not an eau du cologne - it is certainly a chypre scent.
Actually it's almost like Rochas Moustache, but Moustache is mush more herbal, though I can see the similarity. Nice general type scent for daily wear and even office use. Nothing spectacular, but similar to others in the genre, with a strong chypre base.

cvaile

There are great dirty citrus scents (Eau Sauvage, Colonia) and there are great citrus-woodsy scents (Chanel PM, Colonia Intensa), citrus tobaccos (Tom Ford, Vera Wang), citrus-whatevers - but for straight-up fresh citrus scents this is the best I've ever smelled.

Even the effusive praise from the reviews below didn't prepare me for just how splendid this is. It's not tart citrus like you just doused yourself in fresh-squeezed, and it's not gourmand citrus like Ultrazest, it's perfectly situated right in the middle - it's zesty enough to stay authentically citric all the way through the drydown, with just enough sweetness from the floral components to stay safely out of the sour range.

If you want the perfect citrus delivery system for work, play, rest or romping, look no farther - absolutely spectacular that they can provide this scent at this price.

It does fade pretty fast, but I get 4-5 hours on my skin before it's hard to pick up, which is about all I expect from citrus-heavy summer scents no matter who they're from or how much they cost.

How magical when you were given a sample of this 25 years ago and you smell it again now. It’s all coming back to me now. It’s like opening an old box with toys from your childhood in the attic.

This fragrance has « summer » written in bold big letters on its forehead. It starts with a mixture of citrus, verbena and orange, so much that’s impossible not to link it to that season. Think about having breakfast in the sun when you’re on holidays. The good thing is that the structure and the woodsy-flowery component that follow the main notes avoid it somehow to become just another eau de cologne. This is absolutely joyful and timeless and can be found for a very reasonable price.

DrNDJas

This is a fresh citrus scent with some real depth and character behind it. There are two distinct phases to this fragrance, both of which are excellent. The opening is a delightful combination of citrus, slightly sweet, energizing and optimistic. This lasts for about 20-30 minutes, during which time the next phase slowly emerges and then takes over. This second phase is my favorite and lasts for hours: the waxy, lemony character of aldehydes combined with soft florals and vetiver/woods. This dry down phase is still fresh with lingering citrus and aldehydes yet at the same time warm and inviting. Very nice combination for warm weather, and doesn't smell dated like a 25 year old fragrance often does. Eau de Rochas PH is one of the nicest long-lasting citrus summer scents I've encountered and I'm glad its in my collection.

C303

I bought 5 strong lemon fragrances to pick myself a winner for this summer and Eau de Rochas is the winner by a long shot, beating out Versace Man Eau Fraiche, D&G Light Blue, Azzaro PH L'Eau, and Azzaro Chrome Sport.

Eau de Rochas could definitely be a unisex scent and is so pleasant. It opens with a STRONG lemon lime blast that smells more like a candy than it does a fragrance. It tames down into the perfect amount of lemon lime. With the drydown comes refreshing woody scents with some lemon remaining throughout.

Looking at Eau de Rochas, you might see a release date of 1993 and a note of oakmoss and just write it off as a dated scent but the oakmoss is minimal and this fragrance appears to have been way before it's time.

I'm truly surprised this is not a more popular fragrance. It will be my new go-to in the summertime.

intersport

One of the best citric perfumes around, Eau de Rochas pour Homme maybe came out at a time when such classically, impeccably constructed colognesque fragrances were pretty much out of date - and a good couple of years before this revitalising Eau's became a trend again. What's striking is the excellent integration of a very powerful lemon, bergamot, verbena, aldehydic combo that sticks around for long with it's supporting structure - at least the old version features a good dose of some oakmoss. Despite its 'ease' and its rather complex directness, this makes Eau de Rochas pour Homme a truly timeless fragrance, something that I've always seen in line with a more experimental take on citrus, a la Soda, or Almost Transparent Blue. Recommended.

Shugenja

Fantastic opening! My favorite citrus top and middle.
Smells like lemon drop hard candy, but beautiful. Long lasting and will be my number 2 scent for summer 2018, just behind Ferrari Bright Neroli.

Louismanuel

So I bought this.
Nice fresh Spring/Summer fragrance I will enjoy more after the Winter.
I am wearing it now side by side with Acqua Di Parma Bergamotto di Calabria.
Not a fair comparison since it's Designer against Niche.

The opening is quite different. Rochas is louder, more citrusy. Maybe a little bit outdated citrus like 4711. But lesser, thus better.
Bergamotto di Calabria has the typical unique AdP soapy vibe from the Colonia line, that I love so much.
After 10 minutes and the distance between both is growing.
On paper even more than on skin. I guess my skin absorves some of the nuances, or maybe just my nose is not good enough. (That is a fact)

I have spraid 2 on paper also. I will update. because I hope Rochas will last longer even if the scent is not as beautiful as AdP.
6 hours later on paper:
Rochas: te Vetiver is now prominent on top of citrus notes. It's nice.
AdP: Is very soft and gentle. Unisex frag. No doubt. Almost becoming a sleeping beauty. This one makes my smile. Makes me happy. Only a few fragrances can do that to me.
Quite different these 2.

Next days on paper:
Still get Bergamot on Rochas after 4 days.
AdP was stronger on paper the following day but is fading now.

On skin I will update later in Spring.

Louismanuel

Very tempting. Very, very tempting indeed. Specially since a few of you say it's close to Acqua di Parma Bergamotto Di Calabria. And apparently it should last longer. And that for about a quarter of the price.
The issue with the later is the performance. Specially on a man.
But no other fragrance brand can captivate my endless longing for Spring in this cold, often wet climate here in the Netherlands, than Acqua Di Parma. Both the Colonia line as well as the often weaker, Blu Mediteraneo line.
It is now freezing here and our country is welcoming our Olympians with a F-16 squad on their arrival.
I just spraid Bergamotto Di Calabria on my left arm and Zegna's Mediterranean Neroli on the right, just to bring back memories.

I am in doubt. I have many citrus based fragrances that are labelled among the best according to reviewers. Some of them are good, some are just disappointing.
Should I spend a little money on Rochas eau pour homme, a blind buy, or spend more on Acqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina?

carlosalbertoandradecruz

Today I decided to make a test to Eau de Rochas.
Opening: Strong zesty Lemon-Bergamot-Lime-Verbena loveable explosion. Best citrusy opening I have ever experienced.
DryDown: Still a citrusy ambiance but with a strong Vetiver and Moss domination.
Magnific blending.
Average performance; Above average performance for this type of fragrance.

Let us see what the maths tell us about this EDT:
Scent opening: 9.5 (my judgement)
Scent dry down: 7.5 (my judgement)
Longevity: 7.5 (but average for the existing notes)
Sillage: 6.5 (same as longevity)
Uniqueness: 8.0 (Many similar fragrances although this one is superior to most of them)
Wearability: 7.0 (Hot weather - Day scent)
Versatility: 7.5 (everywhere but with mild to hot weather)
Quality: 8.5 (my judgement)
Presentation: 8.5 (nice bottle, not tacky; good sprayer)
Price: 8.0 (100 ml for € 20.00 + VAT)

Overall rating for this fragrance: 7.85/10.00
Highly recomendable for citrus scents lovers (not my case)

I do recommend it.

carlosalbertoandradecruz

The time gows by....
... and Eau de Rochas Homme is still the most well made citrusy fragrance on the market!
I love it.
People around me love it. Old or new... age doesn't matter, they all love it!

Lishypants

I blind bought 10ml as I thought might like this one better than the female version as I usualy go for more unisex but its too sporty masculine for me, great lemony scent though.

Singular lemon and lime opening. As this devlops I get cool orange blossom water and tomato leaf/basil element.

A dry citrus with a water musk that remings me of Eau de Champagne by Sisley. Deeper oakmoss, petigrain, bergamot and vetivert starts to push through but always underneath the the sporty masculine citrus. Dont really get floras cedar or amber at all.

Will be looking to try the femail version and will compare them. ⛤⛤⛤⛤ (on a guy)
⛤⛤ (on me)

Great fragrance, but doesn't last! Blind buy based on good reviews. Scent didn't disappoint. Clean and classy. Great for both office and casual Sunday afternoons. Unfortunately, can't get a whiff after 2 hours.....

Perifanos

Smells completely citrusy in the beginning but then after 30 minutes or so the oakmoss starts becoming more and more prominent, too much for my taste. I was looking for something that was refreshing and inoffensive so I don't think this will do, it's too classic and "manly" for that. It's not cloying or anything, just not what I was looking for.

CGV

Sublime! I call it the most intelligently made lemon scent out there. It has everything you need: cool freshness, well blended spices & flowers, a classy vibe, fantastic performance and a n affordable price. A steady compliment getter also!

Robinfv

After almost 25 years, this still is the best summer scent I ever had. It's a mellow citrus and lime combination, not harsh but unmistakably fresh and classy. Projection is okay, after a few hours it's more of a skin scent, but that is okay. This is for all ages. Bottle is beautiful and elegant too. I have at least one bottle every summer as this is the best way to be fresh and elegant to the touch. A definitely 10 for me!!! Try it!

SalouS

Great summer citrus "Lemon" fragrance. It is all about lemon and little bit Jasmine. The great thing is that it smells exactly like natural Lemons.

Great longevity and projection.

vinyl_junky

I have this bad habit of blind buying citrus EDC's, but with Eau de Rochas Pour Homme I have absolutely no regrets.

At it's essence, EDR is a traditional EDC. The open is a very simple, fresh citrus with a mix of lime, bergamot and lemon verbena. The beauty is in the heart of the fragrance, however, which is a lovely blend of citrus and florals, with an undercurrent of herbs. The vetiver and oakmoss then enter the mix, which sustain into the drydown.

I get pretty decent longevity on my skin (for an EDC), around 4 hours with moderate sillage.

In short, this is a lovely interpretation of a classic EDC.

DedotatedWham

A citrus that lasts, holy cow. Super citrusy at first, might honestly be too much for some people, but it's just till the dry down so who cares. Then the green and woody notes come through, mainly vetiver and cedar, along with the citrus it's like my holy trinity of smells. I hope this stuff never goes away because I'm hooked.

skimore

I discovered this gem last year, and I have to say that it's my current favorite citrus scent. When I first opened the bottle, it seemed very lemony and "fizzy" as some have said. As time went on, the scent seemed to develop in the bottle and the woodiness came through. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and dousing myself in this beauty!

mauriciolacruz

Just bought this one online today and waiting for delivery.

When I was young, I always liked a lot how this one smelled, but I ended up buying it only for gifting someone and never for myself, I ignore why (well, when young I never spent money on perfumes). Now that it came this moment of my life when I'm collecting, it's when I purchased a 200 ml bottle.

I read that it has been reformulated, so I'm excited to smell this new formulation.

I will edit my review once I get the bottle, but according to my memories the one I smelled many years ago, I was in love with it, it smelled sooo nice, fresh, rich, versatile, refined... But I ignore if it might be a bit "dated" nowadays. For me it is a must have.

EDIT: I got it few weeks back and, although I still like the scent a lot, but I find it somehow a bit different than the original, possibly a little bit "watered down" and softer. I might be wrong because it's many years ago since I don't smell the original one. Anyways, I like it very much and I don't see it dated at all. It's a safe buy.

sumandre

Just the perfect spring / summer fragrance. This one is smooth, subtle and refreshing. This isn't your generic Sauvage cologne, Dior homme cologne or Chanel Sport. This is a complex citrus that is well balanced and blended. In fact, it smells more like a woody chypre than citrus. There is no bergamot and white musk overdose here. Just a really sophisticated, modern, masculine take on a classic eau de cologne. I have owned the vintage version and that's an oakmoss bomb. I prefer the current, cleaner and crisp version.

Ciprian

Gorgeous. I'm referring to the vintage one.If you're a collector ,this is a must.

no-fi

Reading some of the reviews here, I had expected Eau de Rochas Homme to be an underrated citrus masterpiece. Sadly, it is nothing of the sort.

Eau de Rochas opens with a citrus accord that is nice, if nothing spectacular. Where it all starts to fall apart is the underlying accord of strong oak moss, carnation and musk, which burdens the overall composition with a dank, spicy washroom vibe, reminiscent of a cheap, late-1980s aftershave. Comparisons with Eau Sauvage are particularly inapt - unless you happened to come across a batch that had been adulterated with YSL Jazz. And I don't mean that in a good way. If this was launched using today's naming conventions, it would be as a flanker to an existing scent - perhaps as Drakkar Noir Eau Fraiche, Tsar L'Eau, or Jazz Sport.

I'd give this a pass, unless you want to cultivate that '90s high school bachelor vibe - with the emphasis firmly on bachelor, and not of the eligible variety.

oleg533

Bought it blindly, because of the positive reviews here. It was a mistake. My last blind buy.

To me, this fragrance smells like some kind of cleaning product. Not fresh or refreshing, but sharp, suffocating scent.

mf.1

What a perfect summer scent! I wore it every day in our three week holiday at the Mediterranean, it is just a perfect match.
Very fresh, citrusy at the opening, mouth watering even, with a good and reasonably long drydown.
Longevity is above average amongst the typical summer scents in my collection. I usually chose Rochas for daytime and Dali le roy soleil for evening.Puts a smile on your face 24 h.

knoxknoll777

This is some really good juice. A real natural lemon-lime accord in the beginning that dries down to an elegant slightly floral citric wood. I was a little unsure of this one since it was from 1993, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got this in. By the way, it was a blind buy for me and a very happy one at that.

9/10

AZ

I really like this fragrance. It is citrus fragrance without having nerilo note which many of citrus has. It just lemon lime mostly with little bit woody note on the dry down.

It is very easy to wear also not too heavy. but the only problem is it performance is below average.

I love it that I bought 5 bottles with 3 bottles that I have already finished it.

platinum14

I read many great reviews of this and when I found it for a great price (on-line) I went for it.
Either my nose is broken or this was reformulated because I don't get the fresh citrus that people are talking about. It's not great. It's a meh! at best.
To me this smells like a run of the mill aquatic. It has that coriander seed/vetiver combo that I hate so much. I know, it's right there in the description, but with all the mention of citrus I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad. Unfortunately it's all I get. It's almost as bad as Insensé Ultramarine
For me this is a 2/10.
Not a keeper.

Melted

This is possibly the best blind buy I have ever made. I love to wear this on a hot sunny day.

One drawback that I have noticed is how much is actually used from the bottle for one set of sprays. It seems to diminish much faster than all of my other fragrances. Maybe I just got a dud sprayer. It's not a major thing, however.

For a summer citrus and vetiver combination, this is recommended.

grug

Incredible. Starts off with fresh lime which blends with other citruses to form something smooth and sweet, yet dry enough to remain airy. Continues to smoothen out and become a fresh woody scent. Never generic though. One of the best for hot climates - reminds me of beaches, jungles, cool drinks in the warm breeze. Performance varies - sometimes lasts all day, sometimes needs reapplication after an hour. In either case, still amazing. It's cheap, so buy the biggest bottle you can.

dmdipentino

Love it!
clean, fresh, ( for a summer day); but, 'different!'
only problem..., it really doesn't last long on the body, but, certainly worth a 're- spray!'

samientor

you cant find nothing better in the summer than eau de rochas. Fresh, energizing kick of lime and herbs, with great woodsy drydown. Much better than all aquatic-ozonic frags.

CGV

Another superb fragrance from 1993 (the year that brought us giants like Insensé or Elements). A sophisticated, fresh citrus/lime fragrance with flowery nuances and light woody drydwown. On me the performance is very good, especially a few sprays under the shirt and it breaths with your body heat for the enitre day!!!

Lesser

Lemonade in a bottle...
So I have a couple of old samples of this fragrance that I just found again since I want to try it out in order to write this review. As these came with a dapper I poured The perfume into a small spray that I had.

So what do I get out of this fragrance?
wow this is Really citrusy and is really going on the lime fruit. Also you get all the citrus fruits but they are very subtle compared to the lime. Here on the site that is a number of ingredients listed but for me I only recognize the lime the lemon and the Cedar. Actually this is a bomb of lime and lemon which after one and a half hour turns into lemony cedar scent that stays.

Longevity is poor and so is the silage. I don't know if this is general but this is what I experience on my body.

if you can get this fragrance cheap I would recommend that you buy it if you'd like a strong lemon-lime scent for the summer. but Persimmontree it is not something I want to go out to buy or wear.

overall I do not think that this is a bad scent but it definitely lacks some enthusiasm and needs quite a lot of work on the basenotes since they in my opening in nonexistent.

Overall: 3/10 sorry folks i'll pass on this

Dead Disney

Initially, all I got was a Lemon Pledge opening and a decent citrus dry down. I chalked it up as a 'Meh' blind buy and banished it to the bottom shelf of my frag case. Big mistake. Gave it another go a few weeks later and couldn't believe it was the same cologne I'd scoffed at earlier.

Now, I don't get the Pledge vibe at all; it smells like a lemon/lime blast of cool, fresh air. I get about four hours of moderate projection and then it turns into a lemon/cedar skin scent. I don't get why anyone would consider Eau de Rochas Homme generic or boring, unless they made the same mistake I made initially and did not spend enough time with it.

I give Eau de Rochas five out of five stars. Highly recommended, especially if you pay under 35 bucks for the 100 ml bottle.

gman13

This is a very fresh, clean lemon smell to me. It almost gets to so strong, like lemon pledge. But I glad to say for me at least stops just at the right time to become a pretty good fresh lemon cologne that's probably best for daytime during spring or summer months.

Housebliss

Well this quickly became one of my favourites. Beautiful lime in the opening followed by more citrus and a floral component. The florals aren't feminine at all. What I love is that it doesn't deteriorate after wearing it for a few hours, but it maintains that fresh feel until it fades away.

Longevity is great (8+ hours), and sillage is perfect. You're surrounded by a nice aura. 4 sprays is not too much with this one, two on the chest and two on the neck. You could spray your shirt as well if you want the top notes to last longer. It didn't stain.

I was discussing a case with a woman at work a few days ago when I was wearing this, and I noticed she was leaning towards me. She just said it as it was: "Sorry if I was leaning towards you, but you smell so good." Something along that line.

Damn good fragrance, and I wish I found out about it sooner.

Sacredsystem

A great citrus fragrance with a slight attitude. The subtle use of the aromatic resin Myrrh gives It an edgy and warm glow. This is citrus all the way, but the bright citrus is more refined and fine-tuned towards the character of a confident and polished gentleman. Vintage is better, but current version is still worthy of a purchase.

Mark Antony

A great citrus scent. At the beginning is a little bit offensive but after that you get a very refreshing result. the only problem is that on my skin last less than 5 hours. But surely it deserves a place near to Armani Eau Pour Homme and Eau Sauvage even if is not as famous as these fragrances.

abcmore

The opening of this frag is almost identical and as strong, sharp and pungent as Acqua di Parma, Lemon pledge scent. No Go.

eliweisz

Fun frag built along the lines of a classic EDC. Perfect for a sunny spring or summer morning. Opening is incredibly fresh, revitalizing. In about 40 minutes, sharp citrus gets more rounded thanks to floral background and slowly developing woody-ambery notes. Oakmoss, cedar, and vetiver are here to stay for a drydown, spiced with a gentle lime note.
Sillage and longevity are OK - and much more than OK if applied generously.
Bottom line - recommended for every age and situation.

RUDOLFO512

Eau De Rochas is an exquisite fragrance. The citrus opening is just mind blowing. It is perfect for hot summer days because it smells fresh and clean. I love citrus based colognes since I live in South Florida. The heat makes this fragrance project more than normal. I will be wearing it very often during the summer.

dosojosnegros

what can I say. I am a citrus man all the way . Not the synthetic kind the real juice kind. this is the real deal. mammoth blast of lime. this lasts for a good hour. then, as the citrus subsides a lovely sweet floral takes over. almost like honeysuckle but may be rose. the initial sillage is huge. longevity is moderate though. still, this is fantastic. it does remind me of Monsieur Balmain whereas Balmain's power is from the lemons instead of the lime. highly recommended!

toto453

An excellent fresh citrus scent. The most naturel citrus scent.
The weak point is its longevity, 3 hours for me...

Maodo

Fresh, romantic, exciting. Sun, wind, sea. I love this on a man. It is charming and sexy in a civilized and distinguished way.

aqua_de_la_vita

For several years I've been contemplating whether I should have this fragrance or not! The other day, I finally came across a tester bottle which caught my attention and when I sprayed it on my skin it did last for 6-8hrs and I'm glad I bought it....its a real bright citrus/herbal/floral scent fabulous for spring/summer days.
As soon as you spray it on your skin, you will enjoy the warm zesty aroma of lemon/bergamot. To make it really enjoyable, verbena was added which gives that punch and makes it absolutely amazing aromatic juice.
The heart of this frag is a combo of floral/citrus and Verbena lemon juice notes with a hint of jasmine, and rose. Vetiver, oakmoss and cedar gives it a real herbal scent.
Because I have a tester I found that longevity and Silage are both very good..at least 6hrs.
Overall view,
This fragrance is perfect during day/night and non offensive. It's an excellent fragrance.... VERY FRESH, energizing and appealing. I don't feel it's a overwhelming as some summer fragrances can be heavy.
If you want to wear a frag that is suitable for any occasion during the spring and summer months...I gives this one two thumbs up.
Rating this...9/10...☆☆☆☆
If you want to simplify this fragrance, it's TOTALLY VERBENA/HERBAL AROMA....I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!

asmhfdbds

An appealing classic citrus fragrance. Remind me of the opening of eau sauvage in a lighter intrepretation.

Very nice to use at home after a shower of before going to bed.

IMsooKool4Real

Eau De Rochas is a mainstay in the Rochas Homme line. There aren't many masculine fragrances in the line considering how long it's been around, but one thing you can depend on with Rochas is confidence and originality. You'll either like it or hate it in most cases and you won't find to many fragrances that smell like them.

The opening has a simple, straightforward and fresh sweet lemon citrus with a tart lime note and a soft herbal undercurrent which gives it depth and balance. It mellows down quickly into a jasmine tinted herbal, lightly woody/vetiver fragrance with just enough aldehyde buzz and oakmoss sweetness to tie it loosely to it's throwback roots.

The verbana along with the the herbal undercurrent manage to prolong the essence of the nice citrus opening well into the mid-notes.

The jasmine note is more noticeable in the mid-notes and is well complimented by a fresh herbal accord with a prominent basil note. I think the Verbena/Jasmine/Herbal Galbanum/Basil pairing is what makes this one enjoyable for me. I think the Galbanum helps to push this more to the masculine side by lending that barely perceptible bitter leafy note which tames the mellow sweetness.

The mid-notes transition softly into the dry woods which are soft and comfortable with a nice vetiver similar to the mellow pencil shaving drydown of Lalique Blanche and a herbal sweet note that is soft yet noticeable.

Overall, a nice, fresh fragrance and an interesting take on a traditional cologne.

smellysock

Glad I bought a hundred milliliter bottle of this, otherwise I would've run out of it sooner than I would have liked. I feel good when I wear this fragrance, really good. That is an easy five out of five.

Maodo

I fully agree with the sharp review of Flannelman below. And beside that this perfume is an example of how gentle men-perfumes can be, without being feminine. It's fresh, sunny, and tender. There's citrus, there is wood, there are flowers. All of it together makes a sublime combination. I love it on a man.

the choice of citrus fruits is very unorthodox here, not exactly my favourite from the get go, but certainly a grower. a more aggressive, mature citrus if you will, not so much a light-hearted, happy and jumpy scent to me.

fuggerone

could be a great masterpiece but its mostly a skin scent disappointing in duration and sillage!

So, i like, beautiful, gentleman this EAU ROCHAS, but i still consider AG Eau Hadrien the best citric fragrance of the market..

One good offer, but don´t let to buy o Hadrien!! Rsss

Wow, yesterday I recieved a sample of Acqua di Parma Blue Mediterraneo - Mirto di Panarea. The first wiff instantly sent me right back to the time I used to wear Eau de Rochas POUR Homme!

I've got to get it again! Such a superb fragrance, I haven't felt anything quite like it. Well, apart from AdP Mirto di Panarea. But the similarities were gone in seconds. Don't get me wrong, the AdP is good to, but now I remember why I used to love Eau de Rochas so much.

This morning I tried on another AdP BM offering, the Bergamotto di Calabria. There are some similar notes here aswell, but just looking at pictures of Eau de Rochas Pour Homme I can remember exactly how it smelled.

The reviewers below are better skilled than me at describing the notes, I just want to say that if you're into citrusy smells and get the chance to pick up EdRPH (they seem hard to come by these days) - GET IT!

Eau de Rochas Homme is quite simply the best citrus scent-based fragrance for men ever produced. It is the scent of the cleanest lifestyle, mood and atmosphere. It is the most refreshing frag you can possible think of and it is just as elegant and mature and refined as Eau Sauvage, only in an even more timeless form. It is playful but also conservative enough, easy to use and a real pleasure to apply, and it can be suitable for anytime of the year. The scent left on clothes and skin is out of this world. Perfect when travelling away too. Energetic, just-out-of-the shower, long-lasting (on me anyway...) and the basenotes are ones of pure class and still refreshing after 9-10 hours. It is my No1 frag since 2001 and will never change. The ultimate masterpiece. Thank you, Rochas.

to me this is the smell of the pureness, of the clean atmosphere, everytime I wear it I feel like born again, its like crystal water, like a feeling of a new day

first toffee sweet lemon taste.very unversatile for 5 mins.
wait 15 mins for best smell.dirty lemon.than it goes subtle on its way.
sillage a little bit weak (very close to skin)but longlivity is good.i think it evaporates and mellows well in hot weathers.i mean it may become much clear in summer.
i have not tried it on clothes yet.
good for first test.

best summer scent ever. Clean vibrant, sun sine in a bottle. It is a soft citrus cloud the surounds you. people gravitate to you just to be near the cloud. but once in it you get a scent of masculine floral bouquet. If for whatever reason you begin to sweat it will no intensify but marry with you to create something personal yet not sour like many summer scent can. Love this fragrance and it is my summer time favorite. hard to find so I always get the big bottle when I travel to Europe.

I finally got one. And I don't like it. The start is a strong citrus cleaner bomb, then a huge mess of Idontknowwhat, then it becomes something wonderful which is gone before you know it, and nothing is left. The citrus is not nice and balmy like Armani Pour Homme, but rather harsh. I started to think that I might got a fake one, but reading about it on Basenotes, I actually have the original and not the reformulated new one. This will likely end up in my toilet cabinet with the other bad ones.

Great citrus fragrence! Brings back alot of good memories for me. Not a very mature smell, but very refreshing and light!

ig69

love it; great for the summer; doesn't last too long, rather short living; very difficult to get one; only in Europe.

One of the few best scents I own. I seldom use it, and use it only on very special occassions. I like the citrusy fresh scent that is not overpowering. Unique and fresh. Highly recommended.

Use this fragrance is like being inside a waterfall.
I like the feeling a lot of running water that manages to convey this perfume.
This scent is really fresh and nice.
All your notes are absolutely fine.
The longevity and projection are very good.
For those who like perfume water markedly, this is one of the best you can find on the market.
Highly recommended.
I love it.

Grottola

One of the best masculine citrus fragrances I've ever smelled. After trying both versions, I don't seem to find much difference between the vintage (Eau de Rochas Pour Homme) and current (Eau de Rochas Homme). This is a good thing.

Eau de Rochas Pour Homme is a sparkling, zingy citrus fragrance that knocks your socks off with lemons, limes, verbena, and a shot of pine. It's very refreshing and "fun". The citrus never really stops giving, either - I get up to 9 hours of this baby, and during the 9th hour I can still smell the smooth base note of vetiver and oakmoss. This fragrance is tart and citric, but at the same time bracing and enjoyable. It harkens back to the classic Eau's of yesteryear where the citrus was done right.

So anyway, guys, if you want a long-lasting citrus for summer, put down Acqua di Gio or L'Eau d'Issey and smell Eau de Rochas Pour Homme. You'll see (smell?) what you've been missing.

Reminds me of Eau Sauvage. Even that, too light. if it is followed by the usual off Moustache's .. In summer, such as use and suitable for all ages. The disadvantage is close to skin a scent very quiet ..

RobbieX

A very zesty, fresh, citrus fragrance with quite a heavy vetiver drydown. This is a well put together scent - very nice

mrdibiagio

This was one ofthe most remarkable fragrances I had. I remember how great it made me feel. It is pure zest distiled from fresh lemon and basil, garnished by empowering and joyful vetiver. Very fresh and not overwhelming. Much better in my opinion than 90% of the citrus edts of recent times. It lasts pretty well on skin as well.

top notes reminds me windows cleaner ;|. forutnately lately is better. staying power is avarage on me.

Eau de Rochas Pour Homme is an (apparently) simple yet well crafted citrus scent. But it's not just that...

It opens with sharp, sunny top notes of lime, bergamot and lemon verbena followed by a more subtle aromatic note of basil: it's obvious from the start that this is a fragrance for glorious spring or summer days. Yes, it's heavy on the citrus. But it is, I think, one of the better designer citrus fragrances around; and as we all know, citrus fragrances abound.

The heart in Eau de Rochas Pour Homme is a beautiful, refined blend of flowers — white for the most part. This, I find, gives the fragrance lightness and elegance. In Geoffrey Beene's Bowling Green, a strong pine needle note reinforce the citrus right from the top. Here, instead, it is much more subdued but nonetheless lifts up the floral accord in the heart, makes it more interesting and gives it depth. Nice touch.

Transitions are well marked in this fragrance but longevity is average, and we soon reach a warm woody (and, to some extent, resinous) drydown; vétiver and cedar play the main role here, assisted by fainter notes of oakmoss. I can't say that I can detect any musk, eventhough it is supposed to be there. But I don't think it's actually needed.

To summarise: Eau de Rochas Pour Homme is a classy, fresh, energetic, refined and well balanced fragrance...
