In August 2013, we had the pleasure of testing the new fragrance of the Roberto Cavalli collection which builds on the edition Roberto Cavalli EDP from 2012, the beautiful Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition from 2013, as well as the turquoise blue Cavalli Acqua from 2013. The fragrance was created in collaboration with Coty and is named CAVALLI NERO ASSOLUTO.

Nero Assoluto is gorgeous! It's a strong, bold and sophisticated fragrance. It's not your typical girly girl scent but it gives the feeling of a confident woman who can hold her own.
You have to like woody perfumes to wear this, yes you pick up the vanilla in the base but it is still very ebony forward.

Aeternitas

I don't think I've owned a fragrance that transforms quite like Nero Assoluto.
It slowly and coyly shape-shifts from stinging peppery woods, into the most sensual orchid-vanilla blessing I've ever been gifted.

When I bought it for a mere $25 on ebay out of curiosity, I wasn't expecting much in the first place.
I first sprayed it and was disappointed by its first impression, which was quite prickly, as I described above. I was afraid it would settle into a generic woody fragrance, and for a while, it did.
"Boring. Guess I'll resell this", I thought.
UNTIL... until...
the sultry wafts of orchid and vanilla reached my nose a few minutes later, mingling with settled woody notes.
Oh, my heart. Absolutely marvelous.
Just give this one some time.

I am fully seduced by this gothic orchid perfection.
I keep reaching for this bottle now, as it has become my latest addiction.

Befitting for a poetic soul.
It could be considered a winter fragrance, but I will personally be wearing this whenever I feel like romanticizing life.

Note: I find the references to Black Orchid unfounded, despite sharing similar notes. Black Orchid is a disappointing vetiver beast on me, while Nero Assoluto is smooth like top shelf whiskey. CK Euphoria? Sure, I could see that.

Really like this beautiful fragrance, strong and feminine. It would be a love but the opening its a little bit in your face and funky. Not in a bad way just in a hello I am here way. It opens with peppery citrusy/flowery and almost fruity. Starts very full bodied. I was worried it was going to be too much and then it settles and dries down to what I think is a very nice scent. Vanilla and woodsy. This is one that I would spray while I was getting ready to go out so it has time to calm down but that aside it was a very nice affordable scent. Happy to have this in my collection

JessiB

Orchard and amber notes reign supreme in this fragrance. So much so, that it borders on being masculine and may work well on men. I bought it because I liked the bottle, I wanted to add to my Cavalli collection, and the price was good. I have no regrets regarding this fragrance, other than it works best when worn in cooler or colder temperatures. It's overwhelming in summer. It's a long-lasting fragrance that doesn't need touch ups during the day. It last around 6 to 8 hours on me.

Deianera

Yeah this is great. It smells classic, pretty strong & expensive. The addition of wood imo gives it an edge, depth and makes less sweet and girly, more mature and serious. It reminds me of Sophia Loren & Monica Bellucci, 50's Dior fashion, high heels, lined stockings, pencil skirts and gold jewelry. A woman who is confident with her own sensuality and feminity. (I prefer it over the Roberto Cavalli Eau de parfum in the gold/yellow bottle. That was very good imo but this is next level :-) )

Chrisandra

A fantastic fragrance!
I rediscovered it last night and remembered how fabulous this was and still is after almost 10 years since I bought it.
Elegant, classy, floral, slightly dark, not too woody (on my skin).
Smells more expensive than it is, and it's really worth getting it, even as a blind buy.
And no, I don't see any ressemblance to Black Orchid. That one has a very harsh, medicinal opening and it takes a loooong time to a decent drydown.

darkgiu

I love this fragrance, very special, versatile for various occasions, feminine but not the classical floral banal scent.. It's dark feminine, it has just enough of a secret dark side! It is well balanced. on me it is also very persistent! I really like the sparkling combination of orchid with the base of woods and ebony

Hannehoney

I love this. A more sweet and fresh version of Black Orchid and Bvlgari. Its something in this that reminds me of Poison by Dior. The first thing I smell is plum. Its sweet and warm from the vanilla and woods. It smells expensive :) Mature but without smelling vintage. Its comforting and it gives me a good feeling. Great for colder weather and for a date :)

g0dh3rs3lf

I've been looking for an everyday, lighter Black Orchid alternative and i think i finally found it. It may still be heavy for some, but its much more warm weather friendly than BO. It has a very similar vibe- from the woody orchid notes down to the bottle. Im surprised my beloved Black Orchid is not on the list under similar to Nero Assoluto. Overall I think its perfect for anyone into somewhat dark fragrances who's looking for something more citrus-y. Speaking of citrus-y when i tried the new repackaged Nero Assoluto I couldn't smell any citrus- it was a two toned woody vanilla with something oddly sweet. Perhaps it was reformulated...for the worst- the new bottle screams cheap and i mean it. The minimalistic design that almost all Roberto Cavalli perfumes now have makes me sick! The generic zara vibes bottle, in my opinion, leads to many people missing out on even trying it.
Many people have told me that the scent of Nero Assoluto screams luxury, the bottle of it as well...meanwhile the price is relatively affordable (30€ on a black friday sale). Must buy.

mekanazekana

It's classy lady fragrance. It smells nice, strong and powerful, but it does not give you headache and nausea. You can feel wood scent in it and vanilla too, it is ideal for colder days and it is night perfume.

Laoire

Got a test strip of this and the original RC recently at the perfume store and although the original is very nice, I think this one is gorgeous! It is a dark rich woody vanilla scent and there is something gothic about it. It is a perfect scent to wear for this evening's Halloween celebrations. I do get the resemblance to Calvin Klein Euphoria but there is more vanilla in this. This is a very sexy scent in my opinion and I will definitely be buying a bottle soon.

veci

I tend to like woody vanillas and this fragrance is often posed as some hidden gem on certain platforms, so I got myself a decant. I expected more vanilla, but to be fair I did completely ignore the warning here about people resembling it to Euphoria. To my nose, this is a more vanillic flanker to Euphoria, which is a perfume that I very much dislike on myself. I gave my decant to my mum who also owns Euphoria and she enjoys Nero Assoluto too.

LittleYsatis

It smells like OLD GOOD TIME. That's my first though smelling this beauty. I love an original edp and Nero Assoluto. Generally, Cavalli's fragrances are simply great.

suzanne_ronald

"ORCHID" & VANILLA-WOODS Flanker. Opens with a burst of citruses & the fantasy note of orchid - which here is code for Roberto Cavalli Signature and is built with other florals that most definitely include a tart grape-leaning jasmine and soft purple tones. That deepens into heart with additional vanilla tones, resting on a shades-of-wood base. This scent isn't as bombastic as Roberto Cavalli Signature, but still definitely contains the DNA, and softens it with some vanilla and woody tones. A true flanker IMHO. This is really pretty, and will be easier to wear for some than the original. This flanker is similar to the original, Roberto Cavalli Signature, in the way that Liquid Gold Euphoria CK is similar to Euphoria CK (orchid is also code for the original in the notes breakdown here). I understand the comparison to Euphoria Calvin Klein with the tart purple-violet floral tones, although these are different and Nero Assoluto doesn't feature patchouli or whipped cream. This layers amazingly well with rose scents for a jammy vanilla rose, for example Oscar Rose Oscar de la Renta (AMAZING!). Overall excellent performance, and a beautiful jasmine & vanilla-woods scent profile. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I've been craving this all autumn after it went and died in storage 😭 I remember being gifted a huge bottle of it years ago on my birthday, back when my mum was still well. I loved the black, classy bottle that looks like a stone and thought the scent was sweet yet mysterious on me.

Years later, I got bored of it after trying darker fragrance like Black Orchid, but every now and then craved this scent.

On me it's a woody vanilla with a blooming orchid and hint of citrus to lift it up. Just enough sweetness as I don't like overwhelmingly sweet scents. Woody, yet more feminine than CK Euphoria, my only other orchid fragrance at the time.

Perfectly cosy in colder weather sprayed onto my fave black sweaters. Just a pleasant, yet slightly dark and mysterious fragrance, that goes easily from day to night. Oh how I miss this now! Probably would just want a tiny bottle of it for the memories.

Miss Kittens

What I pick up is a powdery, rasberry bubblegum with a splash of vanilla woods and I'm not mad. Gorgeous bottle, not a huge projector, sits closer to the skin. I would recommend this gem.

Andrada24

When you feel dark, mature and slightly dangerous, wear this.

minamartin

Irritatingly strong woody vanilla.

OrsiiK

This is a sophisticated, oriental woody vanilla, mysterious and also rather mature (in a good way), to me it exudes a “not here to play” kind of attitude. I literally hunted it down, I got so mesmerized by it. I was on holiday in Cyprus (which is actually a part of Europe, but had Middle-Eastern and Turkish influence historically), and one night I smelled this on a lady at a store. This scent was like nothing I smelled before, and I had to ask her what she was wearing (to which I expected some very special unknown brand that would not be available in my home country). So I was pleasantly surprised when she said: “It is Roberto Cavalli. The black one.” 🙂

For someone with a “European” nose (and I am saying this meaning the fragrances that we have been accustomed to as those have been marketed to us our whole life) this fragrance may feel different, not fully feminine because of the woodiness, not fully sweet, but IMO it shouldnt be compared to all the typical sweet or floral designer perfumes. It takes you into another world and makes you feel special. You have to be a certain kind of woman or in a certain mood to wear it for sure.

I would say it is a good introduction to oriental scents (so it doesnt have a too strong Middle-Eastern character or strong oud or anything), and it is absolutely wearable even to the office or formal occasions, although I probably wouldnt pick it for date night. On me it turns sweeter over time and I still find it smooth and feminine even though all the woods.

Liene

Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto is rich, although a bit sharp dark vanilla scent. It does not dry down to completely sweet, velvety or creamy finish - it has its slightly heady character all the way.
I also get a rum note among the middle notes or some other liquor. This vanilla is not sweet and innocent, but rather boozy. Definitely woodiness is built by patchouli, which has noticeable presence; some vetiver or smoky cedar also is in there. Perhaps pepper.

The original Roberto Cavalli perfume feels more noteworthy, though. This however is also a good value for the price, just doesn’t feel as refined and irresistibly sassy. They are not alike, however it somehow makes sense that this is the flanker, as they share the same mood (very subjective, though).

Unisex. Cold seasons, day and night. Moderate to strong projection; as a moderate projector lasts around five hours and then as a skin scent many more.

duaa abed

@zara0203 Ommmgggg its soo true
its smells exactly like black olives i can't can't
the ebony smells like olive its known smell in the middle east but nooo terrible

Shahrzaad

A recent addition to my collection and an absolute love. Once the sweet orchid note is gone (I don’t detect any citruses on my skin by the way), the scent turns into a delicate powdery woody vanilla. The staying power is not great at all and I need to respray quite often, but with the price point I don’t mind at all. Also the bottle is easy to carry in a handbag. Great for intimate settings, work, home coziness, bedtime, and winter walks.

Edit: the sillage for this is awful. No one will ever compliment you on this except your partner.

totalfunk

I have been wanting this for years based on Paulina Schar’s reviews. Blind buy drumroll…
It came today and oh man is it good!
Sexy, gorgeous, everything Paulina praises it for.
I own Roberto Cavalli EDP and for a second I do get a hint of that in the background of Nero Assoluto. It’s not “black” to me but does have an earthy quality. I feel like I can state what it’s not more than what it is. It’s not sweet, or spicy, or fruity. The oily sheen remains where I sprayed it for a while too. This does give me some Tom Ford Velvet Orchid vibes, having tested it recently. I am so happy to finally add this to my collection and can’t wait to do a full wearing because she is intriguing for sure!
(I do not get olives from it btw)

zara0203

It's not bad once the olives smell in the opening is gone. It was a blind buy, crowd pleaser, short lived and generic. It's a meh... from me.

Barbarossa

Sweet addictive ebony wood!!! Everyone complemented me on this fragrance, especially men (of all ages)

DorothyErnessa

Honestly hate giving bad reviews but this was giving dusty. It's not the 'elegant' scent a lot of reviewers described it to be. It was dusty rose and stale wood. Decluttered it like no mans business.

Karineabdel

Very discrete for a black bottle... I was hoping to get a more deep smell.

WifeyPink

I really liked it until that patchouli smelling masculine note started coming out :( so disappointed.

kiaoi

At first spray, this comes out fruity on my skin but I don’t sense citrus fruit. I researched online and someone in another website mentioned Fig Newton…this is SO true! I totally recognize that smell in this. The wood comes out after one hour or so, but it’s a gentle wood, not heavy or masculine, maybe it’s the ebony mentioned in the notes. It’s elegant but I don’t sense the “bomb” and “sexy” characteristics mentioned by some reviewers. A good addition to my Fall and Winter perfume collection.

Lily Frag

This is a bomb. Woody, spicy, vanilla for a more mature woman. I wouldn’t say it’s sexy for me but definitely more sophisticated and mysterious than most other perfumes within the price range.

I wouldn’t buy at full price but half price, yes please!!

Gyps

The first time I wore it I could smell grapes (purple), but I’m wearing it again now and can’t smell anything. It smells to me the way purple looks. If that makes sense.

Edit: I’ve come back to it and even though it’s not listed I smell plum. I dont smell vanilla or anything woody at all.

whitefoxes

It smells a lot more fresh and citrusy with soft woods during the warmer months and more deep and quite strong on the ebony wood with sharper citruses during the colder weather. It gets better the longer it lives on my shelf.

Edit: The dry down smells like sweet vanilla icecream.

AleharJ

Why is no tuberose listed? On me it's a tuberose bomb. Can hardly smell anything else 🤔

LolitaCD

Something about this reminds me a lot of Dior addict. Nice cheap option if Addict is one of your go to fragrances x

Shannony82

I just bought this and I think it smells a lot like rebl fleur love always with out being so punch you in the face strong. Not sure I love it in this searing summer heat but I think it will be beautiful in the fall and winter. Happy with this purchase!

scarlett.angel

It's really nice in cold weather. Nothing too exciting. Just when you want to smell sexy but safe. A cozy dark vanilla that lasts a while during winter. Perhaps my bottle has aged though as I rediscovered it from a few years ago. It's almost the antidote to my current favourite Alien. Alien is cold, sharp and demands attention. Nero Assoluto is warm, cozy and comfortable. I'd wear it with a fluffy coat and great for date nights.

Joani_Cheddar

And this is how a flanker should be done. Same DNA with a twist. Nice woody take on the original; if u do not like the Original EDP than more than likely you will not fancy this one- less floral, more wood. All black sexy faux tuxedo w capris, slicked black hair, high heels, red lipstick and Nero Assoluto.

Ninalovesclassy

To me this smells like grown up berries with some edginess in the background, absolutely sexy, almost seductive, if you are around 24-33 maybe. On me, it doesnt last more than 2 - 3 hours and the projection is okey, which is very sad, because I am a huge fan of the smell - it is not unique, but different fruity than what some expect, so I consider it to be a poerfect day spring fragrance. If it was stronger and longer lasting, like the reviews said before I bought it, I would deffinately say it is a night time fragrance. Love the smell, so I am okey with the poor lasting power and sillage.

TheFancyNancy

Mature without being old fashioned. This one is super woddy. It reminds me of pencil shavings in the best way possible.

grapefruit352

Very beautiful scent, smells on me like natural plum in chocolate! Price is just great! Such an awesome scent for such a cheap price! Worth its value hundreds of times!

MademoiselleMaya

Simple and comforting scent in a gorgeous bottle.
It has slightly shampooish vibe in top and middle notes thanks to orchid-citruses-vanilla and a beautiful ebony - sweet woods frame.
Performs very well, envelops a person in a warm aura that's universally pleasing.
Everyday winter - autumn smell.

mshimoz

Oriental luxury, but poor sillage, unfortunately!

UPDATE: this is my signature scent now, for my special/important evening events, I can't describe how balanced and amazing this is to the point I still choose to use it over other beasts, because it's like dark sweet music, very rich.

MimesOtto

I Like it. I don't get the florals, all I get is incensy woodsy mix with very faint Vanilla, more of a Middle Eastern Vibe suited for Winter..I am underwhelmed due to weak lasting power, also I wish the vanilla is stronger..

SusanTheTeach

This....is....FABULOUS! I had "lost" this perfume for a couple of years. Then I found it behind my dresser. It kept well in the dark! I had forgotten how much I loved this perfume. First spray, it smells very masculine, but after a minute or two, it really opens up. It becomes sweeter, deeper, very smooth, rich, decadent, sexy, and boss lady. Like others have said, it gives off a bit of a plum vibe even though that is not a note listed. The woody undertone is deep and smooth, very creamy and blends so well with the vanilla. The vanilla is not very sweet, it is a smooth, raw, natural vanilla. Absolutely gorgeous perfume. So glad I found this again.

I heard someone compare this to Burberry Brit. Funny story, I had just gone upstairs to my collection and sprayed Burberry Brit on my left arm, and Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto on my right....total happenstance. Anyway, they do have a lot of similarity on the dry down, however, the Burberry Brit feels very musky, hazy, and thick with a more "old pear" smell. The Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto is so much more smooth, transparent, well-blended, sensual, mysterious, and on and on and on....Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto has won this match-up for sure! I could see them layering really well together, too! However, I feel like I want the RC Nero Assoluto to shine on its own :)

Stoicchild

A very tough sharp woody scent that doesn't last long. The shop girl suggested this to me, they did not have a tester. So I bought it only because she said it's the night version of the original. Which is somewhat true, but it's just not for me. I still wear it because I need to finish it. Initially when you spray it it'll fill up the room, but after an hour you won't be able to smell it. This perfume is not for everyone, it's for women who likes very strong expensive scents and wants to attend an hour long meeting.

sibaraa

It opens like black olives to my nose and i dislike that. The dry down is very woody, Like sweet oak wood. Not my cup of tea. I will gift it someday.....

lady_ireth264

This is just so heavenly!
I fell in love at first sniff a couple of years ago but somehow didn't buy it at the time, though I never forget how sublime this scent is.
I finally got my hands on this perfume and lo and behold it's on sale at the store I went to so I'm even happier.
At first spray, it's that vanilla orchid that's just oozing so much beauty to the nose. Hahaha... it's kinda boozy too. As if rum is involved but it's not listed. Then on me it turns slightly powdery maybe it's the transition to the base woodsy notes. I can guarantee it's awesome in the heat as none of the notes smells cloying. It stays longer on my skin but longevity isn't a problem for me as I'm the type who carry my parfum du jour in the bag so I re-spray whenever I want to.
I think it's unique but beautiful, not the terrifying type.

Re-spraying now... and ah I can smell the citrus too. Soo delicious!

Mademoisellejaimie

Pencil shavings with absolutely no vanilla in sight. Such a disappointment. I really wish I smelled what everyone else is smelling, but alas, no. I had to scrub it off. It made me nauseous. To the donation bin it goes!

dcjimr

The opening is beautiful and then it becomes quite woody, but the woodiness recedes a bit and then I get the lovely vanilla. I think it's really nice for the price! Longevity is not stellar on me, but that's fine.

Bonjourlefleur

An intoxicating perfume, perfectly balanced. At first it smells very Woody to me and almost masculine however this warms up and develops a feminine vanilla creaminess that manages to stay classy and grown up. I almost detect a quite smokey quality to this too.

RainbowGirl

Love at first sniff.

It has that same delicious heavy vanilla from the original Roberto Cavalli eau de Parfum, but mixed with a hint of citrus and a deep woody scent. This combination is almost...plumish? Almost pipe tobacco? A deep dark fruity wood scent.

Some reviewers have likened this scent to cherry, and I can see that, but if so, it's a deep dark cherry. Not a light fun cherry.

I do get a hint of orchid. A light pretty floral on top of that deep delicious vanilla wood.

This fragrance is fabulous.

VioletOrchid

This my favorite Roberto Cavalli frag. It’s just so charismatic! It’s rich, woody and velvety with a balanced sweetness to it. It reminds me of Bottega Veneta eau de velours for some reason even though they almost do not share notes. The orchid here does not scream. It’s a grown up dressed up orchid. What a gem!

lunarxphase

Upon first spray I was a little underwhelmed and maybe even disappointed. I gave it some time to settle and eventually started to really like it. Smells a little masculine to me upon first spray, but once it has dried down I don’t get that from it and it smells lovely.. Something about it reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle, but only ever so slightly

Natalia Bluebell

I'm absolutely in love with this black beauty!
It's sensual, feminine and bold. Beautifully blended orchid with vanilla and woods with hints of citrus. All creamy and soft but deep and powerful at the same time.

bel.gravia

Very very similar to Givenchy Play Intense! Spicy oriental, soft floral, slightly ambery. It has that addictive spiciness. I love it.

A Reflection of the Heart

Beautiful, sexy, dark, rich, and feminine. For more of the first three qualities I mentioned, and to add complexity, longevity and sillage, it's delicious layered with Oud 24 Hours by Ard Al Zaafaran

Sol0013

This is a beautiful smell. However, there's something about it that I don't like. I guess it's orchid and its combination with citrus. It just doesn't work for me. I would compliment this perfume on someone else but I can't stand smelling it on me.
I can imagine a confident woman wearing this. She's in her late 30s and really knows what she wants. She enjoys being noticed and that's why she's wearing such a strong perfume.

_I.V_

I don't know why I get grapes and plum in the opening. It smells like fresh purple grapes. I also get unsweetened vanilla and orchid, plus light woody notes. The grape note lingers in the background for 6 hours. The orchid is sexy. I think it's a date night scent. It's long lasting on me, with loud projection in the beginning. Very feminine.

LeAx

An amazing autumn/winter perfume I received as a gift. On me, it starts with delicate floral notes, which I didn't expect at all given the black bottle. I was honestly baffled at first, but after it settled, the dark vanilla and the woody notes made their appereance. The wood and vanilla blended perfectly with the orchid. It became a lovely floral scent with a mysterious sexy vibe.

Performance wise, it's also good. It lasts 7-8h on me. The projection is incredibly strong at first, but then sets to mid-range.

It's something you want to try if you like oriental flower fragrances and woody notes!

rosey_nosey

This is what I suspect Michelle Obama smells like. This is so sophisticated, so alluring, so....just ugh! I love this! It's woody and sweet, but not overwhelming. It's so well blended that I do not detect the citrus at all. This is a simple composition and it smells like it...in the best way possible. The woody notes blend so well with the vanilla and orchid. It lasts about 8 hours on my skin and projects really well. This smells more expensive than it is. This will be my staple for the rest of the winter.

update: My husband says I smell like antique furniture and I can't un-smell it. LOL! I still love this though.

Wiktoriaaaz

I can’t believe people haven’t compared this to Burberry Brit, it is similar, and I disliked Brit A LOT. This isn’t as disgustingly citrusy but it’s still strong upon first sniff, I layered this with Micheal bubles by invitation rose gold, as well as black opium on a separate occasion and it’s nice. On its own I’m not sure yet. But this is citrus and woods in my opinion, not too sweet, also nothing like the original if anyone’s wondering!

Longevity wise, this isn’t as bad as a lot of people said - it’s not amazing, but not awful either. Strong on initial spray, stays like that for around 2-4 hours then slowly fades away after. I was expecting one of those 30min and then gone so 2-4 hrs im okay with.

I sold this, too much like Burberry Brit

FiligreeAngel

Tried this again today as needing to go through all my bottles to work out what is staying and what is going. Have worn the few hours now to see how it travels. Smelt like something I recognised, and could not for the life of me figure it out. Then going through all the bottles in my cupboard I came across Cacharel's Eden. Opened the bottle and voila...almost twinsies. How absolutely bizarre!! Never picked it before...but to my nose and on my skin they are so, so close.

Unfortunately, like Eden something about it is quite yuck on my skin/to my nose and I find them both cloying and nauseating. Smells better on paper. Sad 😢

kkaattjjeess

Hmm, not gonna lie, I have just received and opened this, and it's a bit of a disappointment to me right now.

Not because it's bad, but because the reviews all said it's gorgeous and fantabulous, and it isn't. All I'm getting right now is a soapy floral. Woods, where y'all at?

I will update this review if I change my mind after wearing it a bit more, but right now this is is a MEH.

Edit: Ended up selling this one on, I just couldn't convince myself to like it.

Madyana

Totally agree with Zana1970.
This scent when you could be captured in a bottle!
Imaginative orghidea and dark ebony. I'm sure that this is Snow White's signature scent.

Zana1970

A divine smell, I hoped it would be strong and project, but..no...absolutly no..it is veryyyyy light I hardly could detect...best for the very hot summerdays! What a shame!

TexasOrangeBlossom

First impressions....
The top notes can be overwhelming. Almost nauseating, imho. However, the dry down is lovely and the closest thing I have ever found to the original 1990s Victoria Secret fragrance, Victoria. It’s not a dupe, but close enough to give me the same feeling.

Noha8

It what Cassili by De Marly should be. It's not similar to it; but has the same fruity flowery sweetness and spiciness with much more depth and elegance. It's more niche than Cassili. It is similar to a woman with dark maroon classic dress and very well tied ponytail hairstyle. This perfume making me desire to smoke and drink some coffee. It is more beautiful in somewhat cold outside air than in closed room.
Its price is very good for performance.

Oh my! I like this! This has been sitting in its box literally for years. I don’t know why but I never got around to using it. Of course I tried it in the store and must have liked it long ago at first sniff. That rich, deep, yummy, dry down is everything that I was looking for in Coco Noir but didn’t find there. So happy that I finally tried it! A keeper.

igalmusic

This is beautiful, very sexy and dark smelling, perfect for fall and winter. Stunning bottle as well.

Itsmarni

I absolutely adore this fragrance! I love very mature scents even though I'm mid 20s and this i cannot get enough of. For me it's very reminiscent of lady gaga's black fluid which i wore from release up until it was discontinued so i find some comfort in this one.

D3G

As for the first Roberto Cavallo, today it doesn't just smell of Vanilla or too sweet. A couple of hours after applying it, I think I'm getting the Woods and a touch of the Citruses

Narissaeh

I LOVE this. So strong and such a gorgeous fragrance. Such a smooth and creamy floral...I love the vanilla in this. Doesn't smell cheap at all

aldinatic

smeels like something i used to wear in the hightschool. not my taste anymore

ChocolatesAndHoney

At first sniff I could have sworn this contains pear. The opening is bright and almost fruity - not citrusy but sweet and a bit like pears. After about an hour there is no fruit note left and it has a woody, light flowery note to it.
I like it and it's very lovely composed. I just wished for the vanilla note to be a bit sweeter.

dglightblue

Nero assoluto, summertime, hot day, skin test

Spices in a liquorice type eraser spice way, bit of sweetness, warm, a rounded berry or eraser type smell.

Creamy, warm, tinge of sweet, cool end of the spectrum rather than fruit + sweet for example.

I like this whole line.

JustSimpleThings

This one surprised me, I usually don't get along with Just Cavalli fragrances, but here is an exception!

Very smooth, nice woody-orchid-vanilla fragrance. It is uncomplicated but perfect in its simplicity.

Ladybedwell

Nero Assoluto

I purchased this fragrance two years ago and I must admit I rarely wear it. The only time it gets in my rotation is in the depth of winter(I live in England).

I like this fragrance and on my skin it is a very very woody orchid fragrance. It is very smooth, incredibly polish and sophisticated and not sweet at all. Not much vanilla at all.

So why don't I wear it more? Well......

Every time I wear this perfume I feel like I am a super sexy, mysterious and seductive kind of lady but I have a dark dark secret........ I am a vampire.

The orchid in here is very intoxicating and heady and I feel like whoever comes close to me enters in some kind of hypnotic trance. So, NO I don't want that kind of attention.

In a nutshell, Nero Assoluto is an exquisite woody orchid on my skin that is. Long lasting and good projection.

Kitt3nReturns

This is one of those perfumes that's half good...but there's also something seriously off about it that makes it a scrubber for me. Something in it gives it this really unpleasant sourness, but I don't think it's the citrus. It's not that kind of sourness. It reminds me of maybe a plum note gone wrong, mixed with the wrong notes, perhaps some woody notes that clash. According to the listed notes, I think it must be the wood that is responsible for this nasty sour off note. It's definitely sour in the way that wood, or even leather, can be when it's poorly chosen/blended or just comes from cheap low quality raw materials. There's also definitely some kind of ambroxanish or maybe iso-e aromachemical thing adding to the badness. I don't really like either, but especially not the latter (which to me literally stinks exactly of B.O. or bad breath especially when mixed with woods and/or vanilla). So yeah, makes sense that I can't stand this I guess. I actually had 2 bottles that I bought on the cheap. I hated the first bottle but had good reason to believe it was a fake, so I got a second one that I'm 95% certain was real, but it smelled the same just not so watered down. So it's not a skin chemistry and probably not a bad bottle issue. It's just a bad blend for me. Oh well at least it taught me a bit about what I don't like in a perfume and why, because this is one of the few perfumes I've tried that went past dislike/annoying to actually stomach turning.

elledeelee

Truly signature scent worthy, I will wear this in all seasons, at all times of day, to all kinds of events. It is a deep dark vanilla with the tiniest touch of spice on a beautiful woodsy, ebony base. Not overly sweet, and can lean a touch masculine on me at times. Although I find it seductive it's not much of a compliment getter, but I wear this for myself alone.

Vegas Pauli

Rich, sweet and very seductive smelling, this is a good one. Floral notes are about even with the vanilla. Def a night time, going out kind of scent and very high quality for the costs. Projection and longevity is also very good. For the price, its a steal. Thumbs way up (not unisex in the least, it's very feminine if that matters to you)

zara0203

I get a freshly ground olive oil note, very tart. It might be the same undernote you get... It's only detectable either in the opening or when sniffing the nozzle.

mikemuscles21

In addition to the notes listed I get a tart BlackBerry jam here in the top notes. Almost like some kind of delicious sour fruit along with the "orchid". Does anyone else get that?

samantham-123

I tried this today, and it's beautiful. Ive never really smelled any of Roberto Cavallis fragrances, in fact,I haven't ever really paid much attention to them if I'm to be honest.
This is similar to Black orchid, but a much easier to wear version; without all the other notes that give BO that musty..dare I say, mouldy smell.
Nero assoluto is smooth, clean and slightly sweet, but in a floral way, not sugary sweet.
I think purple would be a more fitting colour for the bottle, as I dont think its limited to nighttime wear, but it is quite rich and velvety smooth.

If I didn't already have several "night fragrances" I'd get a bottle of this but I'm not sure I need it..yet lol

Montelin

This opens for me with strong citrus notes, followed by a heartening dark wood combined with the comfort of vanilla. I would consider this something I would wear to a professional meeting when I wished to be taken seriously, but considered kindly.

EleniEffie

An underrated gem. I LOVE this! A boozy, vanillic floral with beautiful dark undertones from the ebony and woods. Sexy, but somehow put-together and classy. I get decent longevity and sillage with this and it is affordable. Also, very flexible in terms of what time of the year and day you wear it. I wear this during the day in cold weather and at night most times of the year. Excellent juice!

Sherine777

Beautiful!

Love at first sniff.

But it's not Euphoria, they both share this dark woodsiness but they're not remotely the same.
Like 2 strikingly gorgeous brunettes but they don't look alike.

Nero is softer and more delicate with the flowery vanilla-sh more dominant while Euphoria is woodier with a splendid tartness to it that makes me prefer it just a tad over Nero. They are both extremely feminine and warm, but the scents are not the same. I love both.

Gosha

It is very pretty, feminine, warm and somehow sensual, but like to some others it reminds me of CK Euphoria so much that to me it absolutely feels like its younger, softer, gentler sister. The orchid is very dominant throughout its short(ish) life span, in fact it seems to be so prominent, it renders the fragrance very linear.

Strytsman

What an underrated beauty of a fragrance! This was a fortunate blind buy. I love it. The opening was a bit harsh and overpowering but that quickly faded into a sublime, clean, expensive smelling scent which had me obsessively sniffing my wrist all evening. Definitely more of a cold weather fragrance. Unfortunately it didn’t last very long on me.

missk

There is something oddly alluring about Robert Cavalli's Nero Assoluto. I find it very sensual and inviting on my skin, and I feel a similar way about Robert Cavalli Eau de Parfum which I love and adore.

This fragrance gives me the false impression that it features amber and other bold resinous accords. It wears quite rich and sultry on my skin, so I was surprised to find no such notes in the official scent pyramid.

The most dominant accords to my nose include bourbon vanilla, orchid and sandalwood. Although you could technically wear this fragrance all year round, I personally prefer it in the colder months and consider it more of an evening scent than a day-time scent.

I can't for the life of me understand why Roberto Cavalli scents are so inexpensive. In terms of value for money, they are almost too good to be true. Although Nero Assoluto is no heavy-hitter on the skin, the longevity of this fragrance is superb, lasting almost an entire day on my skin. I will be looking at acquiring a bottle of this stunning fragrance in due time.

Since discovering this release, I have been inspired to revisit the Roberto Cavalli range and explore more of what they have to offer.

NitiKaur

I own a full 2.5 oz bottle and i really like this fragrance. It is a warm scent which is not sweet at all. Im gonna sound weird but this opens up with a scent of “pencil shavings” which i think is fun in a unique way. It dries down woody and the perfume is really dark, sexy and seductive. It lasts really long since i can smell it even after i wash my clothes.

wkingsmith

At first this started out with a gentle sweet woody-ness, then dried down to a sweet, girly perfume. Later i realized it reminded me not so young girl sweet, but more like a sweet, well dressed woman fragrance. A bit too sweet for me, though.

bianca_11106

Dark & decadent, woody spicy vanilla with a boozy orchid note in the beginning.❤️

I love wearing it in autumn or whenever it's colder because I find it to be quite a warm sweet powdery scent.

muckata_11

This I call " Sex in a bottle" ! At the beginning is fresh ,but wait for a while. Bang! After this freshness is hidden something really sexy. Some of the reviews said is a bit masculine and I agree. Anyway, I love it! It's close to the skin, but I can smell it all day.

JacquieDS

I agree, a delicious black perfume but doesn’t hold.

Mbrock

This smells unique. Vanilla, woody. I get a lot of orchid in the beginning but it goes away fast. Actually, the whole perfume goes away fast. After about an hour its just a skin scent. After 2 hours its gone. Its very disappointing. Ill finish out the bottle, maybe. I hate perfumes that dont even last 4 hours. I wont rebuy this.

Annabear

Never owned or even experienced a Cavalli fragrance before. This one is my first, blind buy based on the bargain price and the good reviews here.
Smooth, slightly boozy opening. Sexy in a dark kind of way, a great fragrance for winter. Good sillage and longevity. Quite subtle and elegant, surprisingly so, coming from a designer who isn’t renowned for subtlety. Smoke, vanilla and booze, what more could you ask for?!

mystica

Feminine, sexy, sweet, easily likeable, just the right amount of intensity/body/presence, sillage and longevity.

I would default recommend this to sweet floral oriental lovers.

*Migraine sufferers may need a bit precaution with this one.

Anteatereatingant

This is interesting.

The opening is bright yet sleek and almost liquid floral (orchid). But after only a couple of minutes it seems to shift into a fairly unisex spicy, slightly woodsy vanilla. I'm trying to remember what it reminds me of, because it does remind me of at least one other male or unisex perfume. I don't think this is necessarily a female perfume by any means, as it would suit a man (like me!) very well after the first few minutes.

However, I find the projection and longevity to be average to below average, which is a shame. I already don't have the most sensitive nose so any perfume that isn't strong tends to be something I only wear for others - which takes some of the fun out of it. For that reason, I only like and don't love it, as I have to smell my skin or clothes up close to smell anything after the first couple of minutes.

TL;DR: Spicy and woodsy vanilla with a strong floral opening, unisex, soft, doesn't last that long. Nevertheless, occasion is probably formal or romantic as it's quite a sophisticated and sexy fragrance.

Napper216

When I very first put this on, I was reminded of the 80s "in a good way".

Unfortunately, I don't think this agrees with my chemistry very much. It's not a bad scent, but it doesn't suit me very much. A powerhouse is great, but not when it clashes with someone's chemistry.

Tried this on as a colleague wears this and it smells amazing on her.

I'm a bit surprised as most of the notes here work in some way, shape or form on me. Never worn anything with ebony before, so now to try finding more ebony scents to see if it's that which my skin dislikes!

I don't believe I get any specific notes, though... just a generically loud and heavy smell. On me, it smells like the sort of thing I could imagine someone like Donatella Versace wearing.

2-3 hours later and it's beginning to annoy/overwhelm me. Mum was overwheled pretty much right from when I came in (About 1 hour or so after wearing).

Okay, I think I was too fast on my preview review and I have to take back a few things. I've decided I will not edit the old one, but just write a new review, because maybe there is someone as impulsive as I am and will find the other one calming.

First of all, I still find this fragrance divine, now even more. I've noticed that I really have to develop a relationship with my perfumes. I've fallen in love with it, totally. This scent is something you don't even know you were searching for. The best orchid I have tried so far (haven't tried many of them though).

I have to take back the complaints about longevity and sillage. Actually, for my nose it still fades quite quickly, but I have to say that it keeps coming back through the day. And when it comes back, I feel blessed. Plus, comparing to lots of other perfumes that really vanish, Nero is not that bad at all.
But, aside from this, people around me keep commenting and complimenting it after hours I've sprayed it on. My make up artist at the theatre, for example, almost fainted because she loved it so much. I was really surprised and said I don't even smell it anymore, and she said "yes, these perfumes are the best. this is only you, because you are wearing it. don't worry, it smells gorgeous." Then, of course, I got worried I will overspray it, because I don't want people around me to choke on my perfume. :)

The other thing is that I was repulsed by Cavalli design and I really haven't tried them till now because I hate the bottles that much. But, as we already know, don't judge a book by its cover. I have to say, I don't hate it anymore, at least Nero Assoluto. And yes, it feels kind of nice to hold that round bottle in your hand.

So, to sum it up, I had to give it a chance and it convinced me. We are working better and better together, it is really special, sexy and rich.

Velvet, no doubts.

vixen5365

Dark, dirty, dreamy, creamy, raw sex. Wear if you dare...

diluted paintbox

Velvet.

You should know I am obsessed with wild orchid and orchid in general. But have noticed that not a lot of perfumes have this note in it. Well, not in a way you would really notice it. But this one has. And not just that, this baby is woody orchid, which is genial.

It is oriental, yes, it is almost a little bit asian. But, for me, it has something slavic, maybe even russian as well. I don't know why. I think slavic girls often wear that kind of perfumes.

Oh, I have to mention, Cavalli bottles and boxes are horrible if you ask me, maybe except Florence, they are purely ugly for my taste and I have never tried them just because of that. This animal pattern really turns me off, it reminds me of cheap balkan/slavic/italian underground drugstore perfumes which smell horrible.
And Nero Assoluto wants to have a hint of this at the first moment. But, thank god, this fades away instantly.

After about half an hour, this perfume becomes divine. People around me said they smell flowers, but I don't care about them, all I can smell is woody, maybe also incense with very well blended soft/creamy/smooth orchid. I don't even smell vanilla (which means yay!), I think it's there just to butter up the orchid. Magnifique. This is the kind of scent I like and I could wear it forever.

But, oh well, oh, I could of course NOT do it, because Nero Assoluto, just like most of every other perfumes, has the worst longevity and sillage on me. Someone said it lasts 12 hours on her. Lucky you. I am happy I got it 70% off, but generally I am really pissed and disappointed with the fact that most of the perfume designers cannot raise a perfume that would last. This doesn't mean that it has to be aggressive, I completely support gentle and fresh perfumes, but I don't want them to just vanish after two hours.

Otherwise, for me this fragrance is something special, it is dark, sexy, very scorpio-like, just like someone wrote, it is also ghosty but rich and warm. It could be really splendid, if it lasted.

Betsywoolbright

I like it, but it wasn't what I expected. It is much fruitier (not necessarily citrus) and less woody than I expected.

raiza1990

This is dark, smokey, rich, powdery and sweet. It could be a Tom Ford fragrance. If you like those, you will probably like this one.
This one isn't really unique, but it is well crafted.
It has a decadent feel to it and even though it smells heavy, it doesn't smell masculine.
It is a bit agressive but seductive at the same time.
I think this is something scorpio women will like.

mapache

I would say this is "moderate sweet"....woody ???...not in the real sense of "woody" to my nose. At the top, I get orchid/vanilla fore sure. WAAAY....underneath the "woodiness" is hiding. However,I DO like this fragrance alot !! Not very dark or "nero" to my nose...lol. The bottle is really nice, and decent sprayer and sturdy cap fit. I bought a 1 oz spray...wish I had bought the larger size...sigh...because...the sillage is very moderate to me. Projection is lighter and "easy"...not strong or cloying at all. I am now anxious to try other Cavalli scents...(Tiger Oud) looks good !!

rola.asad

I don't find this fragrance necessarily a woody fragrance, but somehow a complicated deep scent, elegant and mysterious, classy and sophisticated.

I wish it has stronger sillage, It doesn’t last more than 2 or 3 hours!

Edit 24/4/2018:
Experiencing this fragrance more and more I have to say I grade it under fruity/ grapes fragrances, similar to sì intense by Giorgio Armani, longevity is moderate to good but sillage is moderate max!!

mirenaf

Wonderful. I like everything in this perfume. A deep vanilla aroma that blends into woody notes. A wonderful perfume for the autumn-winter period.

UnearthlyApothecary

I do find this to be a darker vanilla, with a unisex vibe. It somewhat reminds me of TM Tainted Love but replace the creamy sandal with deeper darker woods notes. It might be my imagination but I often get a “dark” vibe from ebony woods notes, I absolutely adore woody scents so this one is an instant love. The silage is decent and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for longevity.

supertw94109

On my skin the woody notes really dominate and it's kind of dryish. It's not as darkly sweet or syrupy as I thought. It's a like for me. I prefer the richer, balsamic, Cavalli Essenza to this one.

chinook

I thought the name meant neroli absolute, but it means pure black in Italian according to google translate. It is a smooth orchid scent, powdery and sensual. The sillage is moderate to heavy on me. I thought it was a soft scent until my dad walks into the room, about 6 ft from me and said, "I can smell you from all the way here!"
Update: I have a rash on the forearm where I applied it now :'( I'll try it on my legs, which are less sensitive than my arms. If it gives me a rash, this baby will just have to go.

0h.wow

I really love this one. It's sort of in the same vein as Black Orchid except it's lighter and smoother. They don't smell alike, just give off the same vibe. I've always liked Black Orchid but I love this one a lot more! However, it tends to be kind of weak on me and doesn't last very long :( So what I've found that works is to layer this with Al Rehab Al Sharquiah attar (which is like $25 or so on eBay) and the result is that it's much deeper and even sexier and lasts longer too. The combo is a deep, rich, and ultra sexy woody scent that is sweetened by vanilla, soft fruity notes, and exotic flowers. It makes for a very seductive evening scent :)

LittleParfumista

What a beauty! Dark dark vanilla and orchid, with ebony and even a little spice. One of the most seductive, sexy and mysterious fragrances I have ever tried. Night time, heavy and intense. Even erotic. Love it!

Plus a very sophisticated and glamorous bottle. Good price.

Last good half day and silage is really well. I have gotten so so many compliments for this. Mostly among men.

Love!

corkscrewcurly

Lovers of this perfume in the UK - 75ml currently on sale from The Perfume Shop for £24.99 with free P&P (sale ends 12th July). I already have a bottle, but am sorely tempted to buy a back up!

FuchsiaMamma

I love Nero Assoluto. It's mysterious, velvety, sexy, alluring. Someone commented below that this is sex in a bottle, and I couldn't agree more. The ebony brings something different, carnal, to the vanilla, citruses and orchid. It is quite strong, so a little goes a long way and it lasts over 10 hours on my skin. Perfect for a date on a cold winter night!

Germanblonde

Nero Assoluto (meaning absolute black in English), has a name that doesn't quite fit to this fragrance. I would have expected a way darker perfume just based on the name alone. It is very lovely, dark just right after the initial spray, and then it settles into a smooth, very pleasant fragrance. Almost too shy and too close to the skin, but outstandingly beautiful and velvety. Longevity is not that grand, but I don't mind, because this is really a wonderful fragrance with way more sweetness than darkness, very harmonious and so worth every penny I paid for it. I like it a lot.

Soofiya

Last time I tried it and wrote a review for it which was almost two years ago.finally I ordered a bottle and I feel it smells totally different with what I remember
Now that I have Cavalli edp too,I can see huge similarities in these two(and I dislike cavalli EDP )First time I tried it from my own bottle I thought that this is a love child of Cavalli and Tom Ford noir pour femme.I'm not sure why that one came to my mind but the other day I wear Nero assoluto I couldn't see that noir pour femme vibe any more
So RCNA opens sharp, sweet, bright and juicy with citrus notes which are more fruity than citrus for me, like a mixture of mango and a little apricot, maybe also passion fruit(about 80℅ similar to cavalli EDP in it's first hours) after about ten minutes vanilla becomes stronger and smoothens sharp edges of fruits.i n this stage it smells like a creamy fruity vanilla with a hint of florals(not orchid, looks like passion flower and osmanthus),although I love vanilla and I love sweet scents I don't care for this fruity vanilla cream but I don't dislike it as much as initial phase(similar to cavalli edp's drydown which happens after hours)
Drydown(about an hour after application)is my favorite part.fruity notes fade and scent becomes warmer and less sweet.vanilla is strongest note but not a sweet, gourmsndish cake like or ice creamy vanilla.vanilla is non-sweet and powdery.an adult form of vanilla which is grounded by woody notes, woods are balmy, warm and a tad smokey.they make RCNA even less sweet, warmer and darker(darker than opening but still not a real dark scent).at this stage I'm able to pick up a hint of orchid which just adds a touch of feminity.drydown is soothing, warm and cozy, simple but also adult.it's far from seductive and heavy vampy fragrance that this glorious black bottle suggests
As I mentioned,I prefer this one to cavalli EDP which is sharper, brighter, lauder.nero assoluto's drydown;this non-sweet powdery vanilla with woody nuances and very small flashes of fruity and orchid brightness that are buried under tones of semi dark powder,is my favorite part but still not a love or a strong like.I hope it would grow on me.if I tried them before buying I wouldn't buy both this one and edp.just this one would be enough for me(still not a must have) and I would never buy it full price
I believe it's wearable year round except in hot days.it's also not a night perfume for me
Longevity about 4hours on my skin in a winter day.sillage is soft.it's not too faint but woody and powdery non sweet vanilla don't have much of taste or color to grab attention
I really don't know how I feel about it.it was ❤❤ but now that I gave it time and experienced it's drydown it's almost ❤❤❤
I'd better give it some more time before deciding whether to add this one to my swap list or not

dglightblue

Absolute Nero
I've got that one, Le secret elixir by Givenchy, and princess by Vera wang on today in different places to see how they react on my skin.

On first spray, it's summer here, I get s very thick juicy sweetness.
The cavalli edp is hidden in there, this Nero absoluto has more creamy juicy slightly tart sweet overtones rather than the cooler floral of the cavalli edp which I have.
I keep getting delicious wafts of Nero from my arm.

The juiciness shouldn't be confused with the types aimed for a younger audience (no ageism but it's true) this is sort of similar (not the actual perfume but the thick juicy effect) to sexy Amber by Michael kors, miss Dior absolutely blooming, it's got the sweetness of black opium but not as candy sweet.
Si is more tart and aromatic in me, but again the same 'thickness'.

If you don't have any perfumes if this sort then it's a good buy.

bunnycrush_

Sexy like a brunette in a clingy sweater.

Super warm + just a touch exotic. The opening is a bit sharp for me (think it's the orchid), but after an hour or two the scent mellows beautifully into a sensual, velvety, woody vanilla.

Dark, mature (not in an fusty kind of way, but in a 'definitely couldn't have pulled this off at 20' kind of way), perfect for winter.

Madrona

It does remind me of the original Roberto Cavalli EdP, but bubblegum toned way, way down and woodiness turned way, way up. In the opening I got a fish/eyelash glue note (I detect this in some fragrances, Queen by Queen Latifah being an example), but luckily it dissipated quickly, leaving a woody, vanillic base enriched with lovely orchid behind. Clearly this scent was marketed as sexy, and I LOVE when a "sexy scent" for women has unisex appeal and isn't sweet. That said, for some reason, this one doesn't qualify as a love.

perfumeglam87

Masculine. Nothing really sweet about it. Only a small hint. Very woody. Boyfriend loves it.

Nikki24

Very dark and sexy. Vanilla but not overly sweet or foodie. My boyfriend loooves this one.

Camilla91

Very sexy and seductive, more of a night time type of fragrance (or at least wintertime). Spicy orchid with vanilla and wood undertones, lasting power is amazing and price is not that bad. Strong and mature scent.

perfumemad62

This perfume is absolutely divine!

Very seductive, dark, sweet and rich. Definitely a perfume to wear with red lipstick, a cat eye, an LBD and stockings. The vanilla and wood is so intoxicating, it makes me feel confident and ready for a glamourous evening! It lasts around 6 hours and has moderate sillage.

Overall, an intoxicating, dark and seductive perfume that is perfect for hot date nights, glamourous parties and just adding that touch of sexiness to an outfit. I will absolutely be adding this one to my collection. Highly recommended!

daivasvait

I liked the first sniff. But it stays very short on my skin, and after some time I can scent only orchid or jasmine, not`for me. I hate that last scent. Though really interesting, but not my scent, not for my skin. Sad.

wildwestwoman

Just got this lovely fragrance today. Very sexy and smart. A winner for fall and winter.

freddinos

Cavalli Nero Assoluto could have been a love for me, if only...
And by that I mean, if only they amped up its volume by 100%. It is beautiful, dark and smooth. But so light! I used my full 5 ml mini two times, generously applying half each time. An hour later I could barely smell it, and since its application it was not a hugely projecting scent to begin with. Still love the concept around it, just not the technical execution of it...

Gwenz

I originally bought a 7/8ths empty tester for very little, just to try this. After a couple of weeks I just had to go and buy a full bottle. I love this, and it has become my favourite 'comfort scent' to spray on when I get home from work and need a 'scent-boost' to get my brain into gear for the evening. It is warm, woody, deep and rich. The vanilla is rather boozy to me and undoubtedly oriental; certainly not a sweet-sugary vanilla, like many of the gourmands are. Sophisticated and mysterious is the vibe I get. And I just love the feel of the heavy, rounded, pebble-like bottle in my hand!

Skayalily

Nero Assoluto saunters in, one hip at a time; there's a dark, sweet orchid and a rich, heavy vanilla. They take their time building up and thickening into an actual blanket on my skin. And just as it's about to get too heavy, the woods smooth over some of the sweetness. Smooth dark, sleek woods. This is a heavy projector, a heavy dense blanket wrapping around my skin and sending wafts several feet. It's long lasting, when applied for an evening it's still going steady in the morning. It's a soft, cuddly vanilla focused blanket I wake up to, the long tail end of a cozy, luscious drydown.

perfume_infatuated

This is unbelievably great. Simply, one of the nicest woody perfumes out there that hold a creamy quality.

rakan1985

scent : 6/10
sillage : 8/10
longevity :7/10
80% night / 20% day fragrance
vanilla scent
too feminine for me

Luthien999

Wow! This is such a mysterious, deep, sensual, kinda gothic perfume! I can smell mostly ebony wood, vanilla and woody notes. My boyfriend smells mint but I do not mind,as long as he likes it as well. Longevity is very good as well. It is a keeper. Night- time.

polkadot27

This lasts no were near as long as the original. To me this smells of boozy cola bottles with some slight creamy woody undertones. It is not unpleasant, but it is far from deep mysterious intoxicating and inviting as the bottle suggests. I wouldn't buy this one. I think i'll just stick with the original it is 100 x better.

Bottle= 7/10
scent= 3/10-it really is just creamy cola bottles for me
Lasting power= 5/10
Sillage= 4/10

auroramaria

Very sensual fragramce deep sultry and sweet reminds me of Euphoria but this is heavier and darker lasts and projects very well a winner from Cavalli

upperu

Very warm soft woody scent. Fits well for day and night. I do not feel any citrus notes though, only wood, orchid and vanilla. Love it!

enola

Dabbed a little of the sample and as soon as I had, I've been slapped in the face with a bouquet of the strongest sweetest orchids imaginable. I kept saying 'puah! pahhh!', in disgust for 10 minutes.
Came to the Fragrantica page and immediately removed the "I want it" tick.
After a little while it settled and the orchid had turned slightly woody and softer, and it started smelling pleasant.
I timidly ticked the 'I like it' icon.
A few more minutes later, I smelled it again and my arm had surprisingly turned into a sweet, flowery, vanilla-y, warm boozy delicatesse.
Sold. I'm buying a bottle :P

I usually don't care much about black colored perfumes, but nero assoluto made me change my mind,it has two completely differant faces and I love both of them,I also love this switch from the bright face to the darker one
It starts with blasts of citrus+powdery orchid,a fresh bright floral which doesn't make sence with this black bottle, but then a dark, not very sweet, creamy vanilla shows up beside dominant woodsy notes, this orchid, vanilla, wood combo makes a dark, mysterious scent which is also really sexy and seductive, creamy and cozy, warm and soft, magical, adorable, lovely
It reminds me velvet orchid of tom ford, without the honey note and more woodsy, but as velvety and sultry as that one

genny17

I wants to say that I do not like woodsy perfumes, but I love Nero Assoluto..the wood in it is ebony ,so smoother and lighter than other woodsy notes..the top notes seem woodsy but then fade fast to a warm vanilla elixir perfume...
So give it time, the woodsy vibe is subtle, and rounded...not a harsh cedar vibe!!!

b.a.denney

Mschabel666: Thanks for the review. This spares me from buying another, too woody perfume. My body chemistry really pulls out the cedar, and other wood notes, and just magnifies them in some perfumes. You often leave a review that I agree with, and we are both gourmand lovers, and I too live in cold Michigan(snow today, in April!).

I guess I'll pass this one up, and try the original, in the gold bottle.

mschnabel666

This is all woody pencil shavings to me! I was hoping for an intense dark vanilla, along the same lines as Dior Addict... but it's just too woody.
That being said, it's not terrible. I don't love it, but the 1 oz I blind-bought for $18 NIB on ebay was worth it. Average/decent potency, but it's nothing special or mind blowing.
Woody vanilla. Period.
It's still about 30 degrees F in Michigan, so this was a winter review. The first opening is very potent, and bad IMO because it reminds me of dark scents like Euphoria (Ick) but that calms down pretty quickly to the wood with a hint of spice and too little vanilla. I also get this very prickly pepper in the first 10 seconds, and it makes me sneeze.

I also don't care for the original EDP of RC, I do not get any of the balsamic vanilla/gourmand goodness... I just get this floral musky 80s smell, like Navy. (My first perfume in 1992! Haha!)

But I'm still dying to try Essenza because of the nutty notes. I love Just Cavalli Gold, although that one took awhile to grow on me.

Miriana93

This fragrance is so dark. To me it just smells dangerous. I don't know how to explain it but I imagine someone who is wearing all leather and works as a kick ass sword fighter to wear this. It smells powerful and mighty. I wear it when I want to get that confidence boost. It isn't everyone's cup of tea mind you. I usually love fruity and sweet fragrances but then I have this one to wear when I want to feel confident and mysterious - on me it is very woody and leathery with a hint of vanilla. It's a very unexpected scent and it's not something that you smell everyday. But I love owning it as an option to when I want to feel bad ass.

pinkpeonygirl

I was just about to buy this fragrance blindly based on the notes, but today I happened to encounter a bottle and got my first sniff. And luckily I did, the opening notes are just vile and disgusting to my nose. Admittedly my nose is a little congested right now, but the sickening smell I sprayed on my wrist didn't change or budge. I unfortunately never got around to the vanilla or woods, I guess, because as soon as possible I washed my wrist with lots of soap. So disappointed. My favorite fragrance "Givenchy's Hot Couture nr1" is discontinued and I still haven't found a good replacement. I learned today not to sample frangrances with a stuffy nose (obviously) - however others smelled fine in comparison - and that I apparently really dislike the orchid smell.

Whit

This was a blind buy and mmmmm...it's deliciously dark. When I say "deliciously" I'm not meaning the gourmand or sweet sense. It's got a sinister vibe about it that from what I can smell so far, rivals my Amouage Memoir in terms of darkness. It's smooth, rich and somewhat balmy.

It's not overpowering at all, which is kinda surprising to me, but the longevity seems promising. I haven't given this a proper wearing yet, but so far, it's going to be a love for me. I will update at a later time after I've given it a good wearing.

Juliana6

This is like a chameleon - changing all the time and it's doing it slowly. Like a real lady, this perfume doesn't hurry. Stage after stage... First I get a fresh flower +light citrus wave which makes me wonder about all that "nero" (black) thing in its name. At this stage I get something light and really lovely,a bit dewy. And then -a surprise! Those innocent flowers turn into something adult, teasing and containing a dark vanilla and some expensive alcohol mixture. The perfume starts flirting, becomes warm and warming. Like a woman who has met a man she finds attracting among many boring men during a long, official party.
I just love the developing vanilla here! Serious (because of the woody notes), boozy, dark, not childish or too sweet. Sometimes I get a light leather hint which I love! The orchid is present all the time, it's like a beautiful frame for this dark vanilla and wood painting. Somehow it reminds me "Velvet Orchid" by Tom Ford (this is fresher and lighter, of course). The longer I wear the perfume, the deeper, blacker it becomes. Like I'm diving into this depth if passion.
Now it's winter here (- 16 degrees), and this perfume is one of my sophisticated "scarves". The cold makes it float around me. Beautiful, sophisticated, a bit sparkling, but thick, warm and protecting (not only from the cold, but also from the bad mood and people).

mikemuscles21

I love this trans-fragrance even though I get a strong synthetic vibe from it. Boozey Orchid & Vanilla.

In keeping with the article on layering. I layered this with my "Leather N10Z" base fragrance to make a man out of her.
With stunning results I might add.

I turned her into a man.

Jaycm

Starts off quite woody/ smokey and quickly becomes a dark vanilla orchid scent. Very sexy, definitely for nighttime. Similar to TF black orchid IMO but not the same. Longetivity is impressive too. Overall very pleased with this! This is the 3rd Roberto Cavalli perfume I've tried and I haven't been disappointed yet.

vanillapocky

First sniff was like oh my god its like those old and heavy grandma perfumes. Left me with a headache.

It has been -i guess- 4-5 hours now, and its not bad at all.
Dark, skinlike vanilla is the most dominant note without a doubt; but I can still sense some orchid & wood.
Well blended.
Sexy.

Madsiegal

It is on sale at some shoppers in Canada guys! Go look! It is a beautiful scent. I was so excited to get this, I am still figuring out my review. Upon first spray, it is like luscious woodsy plum and as it dries down I get a floral woodsy smell.. beautiful. I love this because I kind of smell a resemblance to euphoria, which doesn't work on me because my PH just picks up on the powder afterwards and smells like a powder flower bathroom spray. And I looooooove euphroia:( So, this is better for me but I had to use an oily lotion under it for it to stay on as well :)

fleurdefi

I got this last month, based on many recommendations here and it is beautiful, as promised. It surprised me because there is just something comfy/cozy about it, even though it is very rich and sultry. Great sillage and longevity, too. I finally realized last night that it reminds me of Coty's Ici. Nero Assoluto is like the sexy older sister of Ici, which I used to love. I think it will be my special occasion cold weather scent.

Jola 72

The opening is not that great to my nose, smell of pencil shavings? But with time it is getting better and becomes very cosy and comfortable slithly sweet semi dark woody wonder. Non disturbing woody oriental perfume for cold day wear...

Perfumelover515

This is definitely a woody scent. I can barely detect the vanilla. I do detect the citrus notes. I would categorize this perfume as a sophisticated daytime scent (especially for work in or outside the office.) It's not very strong and it doesn't last long on me (weak sillage) but then very few perfumes last longer than 30 mins on me nowadays. I do like how it smells and I don't regret adding it to my collection.

40plus&fab

I was dying to try this and since the notes are up my ally and I've found success with other Robert Cavalli scents I took a chance on a blind buy. Well, my skin tends to radiate woody notes so disappointingly the orchid nor the citrus showed up and all I really got was the gentle ebony wood laced with a hint of vanilla. It is still a very nice fragrance for those that love woody scents but I was hoping for a bit of sweetness to balance the woods. It sort of reminds me quite a bit of Love & Toast Pomme Poivre, which I actually prefer dabbed vs sprayed. The spray seems to amp the woods and overpower the other notes where the dab keeps everything balanced. I probably should have put this Nero Assoluto in a dab or rollerball to see if I got better results BEFORE I swapped it away. Hhmm...

villey91

Fabulous! When or if I buy it sometime I'll review it. Now I can only say and remember that it was fab!

LuLuGoes

Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto is dominated by vanilla. It has a dusting of orchid powder. The wood is subtle, but there is a dry edge to this that may be the ebony.

It is very wearable and soft. If you like Just, Just Gold for women, and Oro, you will probably enjoy this. I like all three of the aforementioned fragrances, so I had to try Nero Assoluto. It is in third place behind Just Gold and Oro.

I thought this would be hard to find, but now Oro is the one that is going up in price.

This is a good, powdery vanilla. As another reviewer mentioned this is pretty linear. It doesn't evolve much over a three-hour period. Decent projection and staying power. Beautiful bottle.

Sarahm777

I love this smell it's really sexy. I like the depth of the smell. It's not too sweet. It's just right.

Lilithorvat

I just received this in a swap, instant LOVE. This is what I look for in a fragrance, fits my tastes to a T! Dark, woodsy, sweet, aromatic, sexy and smokey. Similar with my Tainted Love and The One Desire in the sultry way, all three have similarities but enough of a difference to keep in a wardrobe. If The One Desire was dirtier, no florals, and smokier it would be Nero Assoluto, and Tainted Love with more sweetness. On my skin there is less orchid and no citrus at all and I love that.

If you like dark, woody sweet scents as I do, you might want to check this one out.

genny17

In defense of Nero Assoluto , it is 100 times better than voile d' Ambre. Actually those two are t even alike!!!
Quality here is higher with Nero assoluto, which I love, and find warm, sensuous, constructed beautifully..
The YR isn't even close, although it smells nice..

seaside

Wow, oh, wow.

I've recently discovered Cavalli and have been enjoying several of his fragrances. I just received this one, and I am overwhelmed -- in a good way.

I was a bit afraid that it might too strong or dark or something for me, but absolutely not so. It is a gorgeous scent that is extremely well balanced.

Not too woody, not too sweet, just perfect. His perfumes are basically not available in brick & mortar for me to test. I don't understand why that is. So I bought all five of mine blind on fragrancenet and have yet to be disappointed. The price point is pretty nifty, too.

Circuit FAiry

Cavalli Nero Assoluto – Who knew deep down inside my love for vanilla even existed? Lately I have been looking for scents that embrace this note powerfully. Nero Assoluto delivered on this and more. It delivered bold, dark and spicy ebony woody goodness which grounds the whole composition. I am very happy with the addition of this beautiful fragrance.

camillann

Edit to my review bellow: I layered this one with Stella McCartney Stella and wow! The shy, beautiful rose Stella was transformed into a dirty, naughty, sexy rose. Just wow!

camillann

Ooohhh! I LOVE this scent! I have been looking for something like this for a while and I'm so happy for this beautiful spicy blend. It is sweet, but not sugar sweet, it is more of a dark, pure vanilla sweetnes and the wood is balancing the sweetnes. Grown up and sexy, perfect for datenight, men loves this kind of scent. The bottle is beautiful and mirror the scent so good - black with a golden, dramatic top. Good winterscent, but I will wear this all year round!

Kristina25

In my opinion, the best of the Roberto Cavalli line. It's sweet in a "grown up" way - the way liqueur is sweet rather than the way candy floss is sweet. The bottle reflects the scent very well, dark woods, vanilla pods and a flirty floral wink. It belongs to the same family as Tom Ford's Velvet Orchid and Bvlgari Jasmin Noir - dusky, modern floriental.

A perfect scent for post work cocktails and believe me, men LOVE this. Men, not boys. Now I dont tend to wear scents to please men (in fact, most don't appreciate my love of woody scents) but my other half loved it and so did my male friends.

It's a really nice take on sweet scents and it's far superior to the sticky, cloying perfumes that a lot of mainstream houses have brought out recently. My only complaint is that I keep having to re-apply. Id give it a good, solid 7.5 out of 10.

Leah lilly

I'm more of a lover of vanilla and orchid perfumes, this is my favourite of RC, my favourite vanilla perfume, very elegant, just amazing and sophisticated. mmmmmmm love it.♡♡♡♡♡♡

meysam vazifeh

at this fragrance there are vanilla and orchid and woody notes
but with 3 notes managed a wonderful scent
if you like sweet and floral fragrance please test it .
because Perhaps the scent of your dreams

Euphoria Calvin Klein اگر از عطر
تستی داشتید و مورد پسند بوده ، اینم فضای نه چندان دوری

Euphoria

+1 FeelingRisky's review below, I was just about to say that it's

*fairly linear, but developing subtly by becoming a softer, slightly powdery sweet vanilla vs orchid fruitiness up front

*fairly heavy for a sweet scent, could see the perception of a gentle incense

*layers really well! (with coconut it's great, try CdP's Coco Figue with it for yumminess)

Was considering trading my bottle because it's such an ORCHID BOMB and synthetic, but it's so nice w/ the coconut that I may reconsider...

Niya

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

Marlie

This is sweet and a bit heavy but I like it that way. It's hipnotyzing. Amazing.

Smunky

I'm not sure what it is this week, but fragrances I was excited about wearing I'm now having a change of heart about. I suppose it's possible that my tastes are changing but I think it's just more likely that I never really took the time before to really evaluate them and now that I'm in the process of downsizing, I'm being much more selective. The combo of notes in Nero Assoluto has a definite black licorice vibe on my skin. The vanilla is there, somewhere, under that anise smell. But it takes a while for it to really come to the forefront, and, unfortunately for me, I've come to realize that black licorice is not a smell I enjoy on myself. Loverdose is going bye bye for that reason, and now so is, sadly, this one.

rednut

This is fantastic. Spicy, woody and warm. It smells very strong when first sprayed but dries down pretty quickly. It has a depth to it and is a very 'female' scent - made for women, not girls. It's very sexy but not in a loud way. This one is going in my favourites list.
My only complaint is that it doesn't have great longevity. It only lasts about four hours on me.

RosieRachel

Out of all the Roberto Cavalli fragrances that I've sniffed so far, this one was my favourite. Contemporary and sexy. Unfortunately, it's yet another vanilla fragrance that doesn't agree with my chemistry.

On my skin, this is a very linear synthetic vanilla. I can detect some sort of woodsiness and black orchid in the background, but it's mainly the vanilla note that just doesn't work on me. For people who have the same problem that I do with vanilla, I wouldn't even bother with this one. Leave it for the vanilla lovers :)

Sillage was very soft on me; lasts for about 4-5 hours.

marylu

Nero Assoluto is indeed as bold and sensual as other reviewers have stated. Upon first spraying, I found it to be very masculine and thought, "this isn't going to work for me," but after a few minutes on my skin, it began to warm up and settle into a deep sultry vanilla with a touch of orchid and becomes surprisingly, quite feminine.

This perfume is deeper and heavier than what I normally wear as I prefer my fragrances soft and close to the skin. One spritz on my wrists was enough for me.

Definitely a fragrance for night time. I wouldn't wear this to work as I think it would be too much for a classroom setting. It is something I would wear on a first date, lightly applied, if I wanted to leave a lasting impression on a man. On the right person, this fragrance would be intoxicating.

angelapaul

This fragrance a lot more woodsy than I usually like, but wow it's amazing and somehow captures me. It won me over with dark vanilla-floral sweetness. It's very sensuous, smooth, feminine, and consistent.

I would be happy to wear this by itself (particularly in autumn / winter) or to layer with other fragrances (particularly when spring is trying to break through).

❤ PURE LOVE ❤

Just got gifted this beauty for my birthday so excuse my rather ineloquent review, I'll update later. Oh this is beautiful! Everything from the gorgeous black bottle with gold topper, to the scent is sheer perfection. If you're not into "dark and heavy" fragrances, don't let this beauty put you off. It's creamy, sensual, comforting, sweet and feminine. A lovely mix of orchids, vanilla and woods which mix together perfectly, surrounding you all day. Not overpowering like some typical dark fragrances. This one is sensual, yet safe enough for all occasions and all weather. Perfect for the colder seasons, yet light enough it can be worn in warm weather too. My perfect "safe but sensual" black scent! ;)

Update: So I've been wearing this beauty all year round and decided it was finally worthy of an update, since my tastes change so often these days. It's summertime here now and I'm still able to wear it without feeling overwhelmed by the vanilla unlike some other vanilla-heavy perfumes. I find my skin projects the black ebony woody notes and a bit of citrus (which I couldn't detect before), much better in warmer weather. Yes it's fairly linear, but that's what I enjoy about it; no nasty surprises. It's the same gorgeous scent from beginning to end.

On my skin, I get a full-bodied, floral woody vanilla, with hints of citrus popping out at random times. Longevity on bare skin is average 4-5 hours, which is better than most scents that seem to disappear within 2 hours on me. Sprayed on clothes it lasts forever though! I spray my usual pulse points, then walk through a cloud of fragrance sprayed in the air. Finally, a decent spray over my shirt. Maybe it sounds like a lot, but this way it lasts all night for me. The best part is; it has a tendency to settle into fabric. I sprayed my t-shirt once, after coming home and changing I could still smell it, it must have gone through the fabric and the scent settled in my bra. With this you get lovely little wafts of orchids just surrounding you all day or night.

EDT: I don't think this smells like Euphoria at all. I have and love both, but for different reasons. Euphoria has a more amber-mahogany woody scent; giving it a masculine edge some women don't enjoy. NA is floral woody and the vanilla gives it a creamy, sensual feel. Very feminine unlike Euphoria which is perhaps a bit powdery at most.

FeelingRisky

Overall: 8.75/10
Here's Why:
Powerful little bottle here.
Orchid, Orchid and more orchid.
But, there's an evolution here: it gets softer, sweeter, warmer. As this fragrance progresses (Slowly, mind you) there are many layers uncovering themselves, but never forgetting their past. warm creamy orchid, soft smooth orchid. Hardly any vanilla, but that doesn't matter.
Feminine, masculine by way of musk and just enough sophistication to deem it a must have in my book.
Mixes well with others, most notable well with the elusive flowerbomb. Layering is fun with this, but on its own, prepare to be surrounded by orchids with its all day wear.

Silences

WOW! I was not keen on any of the other Cavallis but this one blew me away. In one word, perfection! It's a must for colder weather and Oriental lovers. Can you believe I scored this bottle for $16.99 at TJ MAXX? It was hiding out in the Men's department, probably because of the black box. It has a sweet, lingering smoldering quality to the fragrance. I would say it reminds me of Velvet Orchid with incense mixed in. Longevity is OK, silliage better than average. If you like Velvet Orchid or HP Sensuelle, you should check this one out.

sofwar

I traded this last winter after getting a perfume for christmas (which I think we all can agree, is such a tricky thing to buy for someone). I smelled it pretty randomly. Cos my first impression is always about the bottle and the perfumes I have, are in general much lighter and cleaner, in and out.
But when I smelled it, it fell in love on a serious level. Now I can´t imagine the Norwegian winter without this diamond. I love that it's sweet but that the ebony note makes it interesting and darker.
the only thing I don't like about this perfume, is the bottle. I think it looks a bit cheap and tacky, but for this scent it could probably come in a bottle shaped bra for all I care.

lilywhite13

On the paper this is a dark and sensual scent but on my skin it's just a shy and mediocre fragrance.

Poor longevity and zero sillage.

Save your money folks there are so much better perfumes out there!

Hellita

Yesterday I treated myself with a bottle of Nero Assoluto, partly because I felt sorry for myself after being to the dentist ;) but most importantly because I adore this fragrance!

Initially I couldn't decide between getting NA or the Roberto Cavalli EdP (golden), but I found that I had to have them both. The Cavalli-team sure knows what they're doing!

NA on me is a soft, rather woodsy and creamy sweet orchid scent. The citrus gives it a zesty initial blast, but quickly after application it develops into a pleasant warm dark orchid scent on a woody base, with hints of vanilla (although I can't detect the vanilla as a prominent note throughout). When I say sweet, I need to point out that it's not sweet as in sugary/gourmand, the sweetness is more of a dry natural aroma coming from an amazing blend of dark wood (ebony), a toned down vanilla and some orchid. This scent is beautifully done, so warm and sultry.

I also think it's very versatile. It's suitable for work because it's not the loudest/boldest, but it's sensual and mysterious enough for a date or a night out. It also works great as a cozy fall/winter fragrance. It's both elegant and casual depending on how you wear it. This frag is perfect when I don't feel like wearing my loud "here I am"-kind of scents. This is a very likable fume and the longevity is around 7 hours on my skin (though not as loud as in the beginning, but it's def. noticeable). I think it's excellent and special. Happy to have found a woody fragrance that agrees with me! This bottle will be gone in no time!

PS! To my nose it's a little bit similar to La Prairie "Midnight Rain" but less fruity/musky, and a tiny bit similar to the last moments of Tom Ford "Black Orchid" on skin, but it still has that signature Cavalli vibe, so I wouldn't call it a dupe for anything else. If you're not into heavy leather/incense/spicy/balsamic, but you still want something dark and alluring, this is a good alternative. It simply is warm and beautiful!

genny17

Nero Assoluto is one of my top winter scents, and winter in Canada is very cold and very dry..the vanilla in it is so intoxicating, not sweet, more like a liquorish vanilla. The scent is warm . enveloping , with great longevity..feminine, sensuous..Cavalli makes wonderful fragrances in my opinion!! The wood is soft but present...it isnt dry or harsh..great blend of notes !! It makes me think a bit of Black Opium, another great gourmand!!

gomt

To me, Nero Assoluto smells like Flowerbomb, Jimmy Choo edp and Tom Ford's Velvet Orchid thrown together - and trust me, it's a delightful mix. I dare to say, my favorite fragrance out of these four.

It's sweet in a creamy way, seductive and warm. Not exactly dark, but still - mysterious. A neatly blended femininity potion. Lovely especially in colder weather.

Sillage is moderate to heavy, longevity good - around 9 hours.

lyciumchld

First spray: Dark and soft vanilla orchid - pleasant, feminine, but a little bit one-dimensional. The bottle is beautiful. On a side note, if BBW's Forever Midnight was a little on the sweet side for you, this is a slightly less sweet, more mature version. Overall, I'm glad I added it to my collection. However, Nero Assoluto probably won't see as much wear as others I have and like better.

reborn

the perfect substitute for Organza Indecence+litlle bit cassis thrown in

flamelibby

I liked this one, but i was dissapointed: something named "Nero absoluto" shouldn't smell this fresh at first spray. The drydown however was green, and dark, and smoky and in that i found my little dark edge ;)

Fmcandy

I tested today, it s a good scent! Strong&sweet, not that elegant. But Im thinking about buying it. It s like a mix of Tom Ford Black Orchid, Ángel, Miss Dior Cherie. I like it, it is sexy and different. It s an interesting option! Unexpected Cavalli ;-)

[email protected]

It smells like Euphoria by CK but a little bit havier
and darker in a good way. Very long lasting.
I just love it.

pelega

Exactly this is egoiste chanel for woman. So bad...

In mood

Very sexy smell. This perfume is the best of Cavalli line. Definitely for evening wear. It smells sweet, mysterious and dark.

ScarlettX

Sweet and woody fragrance for confident woman who wants to be noticed. I can smell vanilla and woody notes in it. It's quite strong and long lasting.
I liked the top notes, but at drydown it becomes too "dark" for me. I think it's because of the ebony note.
However, it's an interesting one to try, I'm definitely going to try other Roberto Cavalli's fragrances too.

adeleit

When I stepped into the shop to buy something by Miss Dior, another guy came to help the guy who took care of me the other day. Just as he was to take Miss Dior from the shelf to sell it to me, the other one stopped him, and asked my about my tastes. I talked about them, and he led me to another part of the shop, made me close my eyes, and sprayed a perfume on top of me. It was just magic! I was stunned, asked him what it was and he showed me the elegant bottle of Roberto Cavalli - Nero Assoluto!
At first, I was not sure if I should buy it as it is a smell which requires courage to wear, then he, and some other colleagues of him convinced me to do so. Of course, I bought it, and guess what? Everybody LOVES the smell. I am so confident while wearing this perfume as I know many people turn their heads to see who is wearing this enchanting smell. Though, it is better to try any smell on your own body before buying it, might turn out to be a disaster for you!

Donna Amethyst

I agree with the comment below, that it´s very similar to CK Euphoria, but NA is powdery quite a lot (I love powdery fragrances) while CK is not. The expression "feminine" describes it well, it´s suitable for a date. Very nice orchid with vanilla and woods - I don´t smell the citruses at all. I´m content with longevity and sillage, both are very good.

dinaia

I like ghost stories, with ruined castles amidst haunted woods. Nero Assoluto is the sort of smell that would linger in Rebecca's mansion after her ghost swiftly swept across the empty corridors or in the dry woods surrounding the mansion when it would dance in a sudden whirlwind. Dry, sweet, intensely aromatic woods, reminding of past aristocratic opulence. It's a smell of a beautiful, rich, lustful and proud woman whose unfulfilled cravings and desires boil from the beyond and every now and then spill over into the world of the living. And the living are hit in the face with scent, they sense it, but do not understand it.

suile

One of the very few new fragrances I really liked in 2013, which I don't feel was a vintage year. It doesn't develop much when you wear it but the citrus twist lightens the dark vanilla and woody notes. I feel it more as an evening type of fragrance or a daytime one for colder weather.

Liquefaction

Is it just me or is this just like (a nicer) CK Euphoria?

chou

I was searching for something dark but not masculine which it is very rare to find in women's fragrances. I chose to buy Nero Assoluto because of my first impression based on its "darkness". In fact on me it opens very dark, woody and almost "spicy" then it sweetens a little with the dark vanilla and at the end it totally stabilizes on floral tone, turning into a more casual, monotone fragrance. It’s like opening Chinese boxes backwards, gradually It loses all its darkness and fascination turning into a total different fragrance but with no special surprise and without character, and I must say, a little boring. I would have preferred it preserved its darkest soul and remained dark but I would recommend it anyway, especially for winter daytime and for work.

Musky4

Nero Assoluto is how I expected Tom Ford's Black Orchid to smell! (I much prefer NA to BO by the way). I tried this on paper today and will go back to try it on my skin. First impressions were good, although nothing groundbreaking or unique in my opinion.

EDIT: Finally got round to trying this on my skin. I do like it, but it wasn't as strong or long-lasting as I expected it to be. Overall a very nice fragrance, as per my previous impression, but too similar to other scents out there, including ones that I already own. Nothing about it left me wanting 'more'.

Mooniq

Very nice! Not the same sweet vanilla as in the original and thats good. A bit darker, a bit more soft and a bit more skinclose. A great every-day-scent for office, I think. If you spray 3-4 times it will be a nice party-scent. A keeper.

Angel in the South

I tried this one today for the first time. I really wanted to love it. It is a very nice vanilla perfume but I have smelled better. The citrus, ebony and orchid are very faint behind the vanilla. It is a nice office friendly and inoffensive smell but sadly not for me. I am glad that I had the chance to smell it before a blind buy. Silage was light and longevity about 3 hours on my skin. IMHO not worth the money I would have paid for it.

evacecilias

Lovely, different, distinguished, fresh, sensual, feminine, modern, subtle,
First Cavalli that suits me !
Soon getting it in swap - Yeeaayyy !
I own it .....
Its a very nice scent, not as dark as the bottle but has the same kind of vibe like Chanel coco noir. Classy but not that dark as I first thought.
The very same reaction that I had with coco noir...
Update
Never weared this...leaving me for another ;-)

Nero Assoluto is extraordinary, incredible, gorgeous! Sexy as a perfume can get. Seductive vanilla and orchid with a hint of something 'nero'.:) This perfume really stands out... It's so much more different than those floral-fruity perfumes that are all the same. Nero is definitely next on my want list! I don't even have appropriate words for this perfume..it's just perfect!

I am a big fan of Cavalli perfumes, they are rich, made for women who appreciate warm and complex fragrances, Nero Assoluto is great. I love it!! Unique, warm, the black vanilla is enveloping, the scent is sensuous, cozy and I get compliments every time I wear it....the cashmere wood is also smooth. Never gets dry or masculine..
I don't feel it is like Agent Provocateur at all, this is better, it doesn't have that dirty undertone AP has..it is just great, beautiful winter scent...Cavalli is just in tune which women as far as what makes a woman smell like a sensuous creature..

Almost disgusting. I needed to wash it away after a few minutes. Plus, I don't find it so feminine but intrusive and aggressive!
