Gold Lily by Shanghai Tang is a Floral fragrance for women. Gold Lily was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Carlos Benaim.

The new collection of fragrances Shanghai Tang encompasses 8 editions, 5 of which are for women and 3 for men. The collection was created as a fragrant journey from Europe to China and it was named after the Silk Road, lucrative Chinese silk trade, 4000 miles long. The Silk Road was initiated during the Han dynasty (206 B.C. - 220 A.D.). The collection was inspired by rich fabrics, décor, lively colors and mystery of Silk Road, which were intertwined in each of the eight editions by perfumer Carlos Benaim. With this collection he managed to revive the fragrances of ancient caravans that used to carry Chinese treasures to the Western world. The collection pays respect to opulence of Chinese culture through several aspects and offers mystic contents of the unique compositions.

The compositions created by Carlos Benaim for Shanghai Tang convey his exciting experience from amazing journeys through China. He used characteristic raw materials for each of the fragrances, reflecting luxury and glamour of ancient Chinese tailoring skills. He created 8 compositions for 8 fragrances of the collection, since number 8 is considered the lucky number in Chinese culture. Eight is the symbol of balance, prosperity, good omen, promise of happiness colored in aura of infinity. In the West, number eight is also a powerful symbol which, if depicted horizontally, denotes infinity.

Flacons and outer carton feature Chinese symbol SHÒU denoting longevity. Longevity is considered one of five blessings, along with wealth, health, love and virtues. These five blessings traditionally represent five most important Chinese life goals.

Women’s fragrances of the collection are: Gold Lily, Spring Jasmine, Rose Silk, Orchid Bloom and Amber Pearl, while men’s editions are Jade Dragon, L'Orient and Mandarin Tea. Fragrances for women are available as 60ml Eau de Parfum, while the editions for men are obtainable as 100ml Eau de Toilette. The fragrances are packed in wooden, lacquered boxes of high quality. The collection of Shanghai Tang Silk Road was launched end October 2014 in China.

Lovely perfumery.
These little bottles are just fabulous they keep me entertained looking at the beauty of the bottle and its unique inventiveness for ages. The logo stamped in gold on the ball inside is a really classy touch, the ball doesnt move or spin with the liquid when you move the bottle it appears to have a metal attchment but l dont know what its connected to its very high end designer looking. The gold on the top of the bottle is beautifully shiny and adds a touch of class with the company name engraved into it. I bet they spent ages designing these bottles changing it here and there adding and taking away until it was just perfect. Every little detail is perfectly done. The bottle weighs a ton. I have one on a table in my hallway by some white lillies an oriental diffuser and a white Buddha statue and it looks stunning they really can be used as home decoration design touches too. The fragrance is lovely! White lillies, my favourite flower so this was a must. It's simple, no messing about, perfumery that's not over complicated with loads of notes and authentic to how the flowers really smell, l also get soapy notes but not a lot sadly. I'm getting touches of pure clean classic soap perfume. This also gives me beginning notes similar to Givenchy Organza I definitely smell that in here. I just wish they would do these bottles in a 100mls. I give this gorgeous little peice of art a 9/10.

Sorry but all this line seem to be synthetic hell. I tested 8 of the range and they all gave me a headache and had no depth as if some grounding notes were missed. I feel a bit conned to be honest.

Maybe this is why the company no longer exists. Anyone know what happened - they were no around for long. A travesty of the honourable perfume tones of the Far East. Ridiculous prices too!

Update: Just realised that they smell like room freshner oils or scented candle smells. Maybe that explains my headache. Oh shame. Indeed looking on their website, a few of this range are now sold as fragrancers and candles. No sign of these overpriced perfumes anywhere on the site.

The listed notes are lily and musk, but the initial note was plastic . . . then lily with a little musk. Kind of "meh"

Gold Lily reminds me slightly of Yosh's Stargazer, which I prefer. I've got Gold Lily at a discount price as a blind buy. But I'm disappointed. Probably the bottle has been spoiled.

Official notes:

Top: lily, ginger lily
Heart: jasmine, orange flower
Base: patchouli, musk

Yes! Most certainly a lot more going on than just lily and musk. Gold Lily is a gracious beauty, clean and radiant. It feels a little soapy, almost like Jennifer Lopez's Glow. But this is more elegant, and luxurious, fresh, silky, creamy. White flowers, sweet and velvety with a delicate citrus undertone. Patchouli lends a little sweet earthiness but never lingers heavily. Gold Lily also reminds me just a little of Cartier's Baiser Vole only without the green notes.

Full bottle worthy for a medium weight, versatile white floral woody musk. If only these gorgeous bottles were easier to find!

Gold Lily is delectably creamy and velvety lily, supported by a tang of green leaf, musk, and a warm ambery accord. Very luxe and feminine. It's much warmer and skin-like than I expected, where other lilies often come across as crisp and cool-toned.

REAL NOTES: The precious lily flower is wrapped with accents of jasmine, orange flower, patchouli and musk creating the mysterious and sensual composition that is Gold Lily Eau De Parfum.

drugstore classics

A touch of patchouli adds depth and interest to this very lovely lily. Caitrun is correct - this is much more interesting than the notes might lead you to believe. It has some aspects of 'dryer fresh' scents without being too clean or boring.

Very nice.... In addition, the packaging is Beautiful!

I adore this, I can't place what other perfume it reminds me of, but it is so much more complex than the notes would lead you to believe. It's a spicy natural lilly smell. It is musky, but it also has this sort of smokey vanilla vibe!
