I've never smelled a perfume like Rising Sun. The best way I can describe it is like a very sophisticated beach scent. It's bright, airy and oceanic, but also has a surprising amount of depth and complexity. I smell the resemblance to Replica Beach Walk, except BW has a strong sunscreen/tanning lotion smell and Rising Sun doesn't have that at all. It's quite beautiful, and I would say it's unisex. I wish Shiseido still made this one, because it's the kind of fresh summer scent that I like. I managed to find a sealed bottle on eBay and I will enjoy it while it lasts.

What a sweetie !
Incredibly likeable, joyous, energizing, sunshiny.
An essence of sunny day full of joy.
Blind bought during winter, and I just used it for the first time yesterday.
My wrist still radiates this sweetie - which is fine, because I cannot imagine tiring from it.
It fits the gentleness of waking sun during fair weather day - it has this level of intensity.
The coconut is milky, fresh and comforting.
Mineral aspects are reminding me of French, rocky-soil grown wine from Rousillon region or Corbières.
During the peak for the wine from these regions, the mineral aspects are dominating the taste of the wine and here I have this unique effect extracted to parfume :) Immortalized!
It also contains marine breeze - always welcome.
The florals are dominated by sunshine in the form of ylang-ylang flower.
Finish is foamy-soft, warm and inviting.
If it can brighten gloomy-winter day then I can imagine it fit for any weather, all year.
A signature-type, then.
My only regret - the bottle could be prettier and of higher standard. Magnetic top, coloured glass rather than painted. And I would be happier. Opening it is a bit of a grating experience for me.

This one does not last. Not even 10 minutes. So it doesn't matter how much I loved it. It is like a beautiful butterfly that flies away the second you see it.

This must be the "your skin but better summer by the sea" - version.
Nothing sticks out. Blends nicely on my skin and top notes stick around for a long time.
I actually find this to be sort of sexy in a subtle way.

It's a really nice summer fragrance.
Edit: colder weather doesn't do it any favors, but it really shines in the heat and on warm skin. Rising Sun is beachy without smelling like suntan lotion. Sunny and clean smelling.

I can see me emptying this pretty fast when it gets hot. It’s not lemony but the vibe is like that. The mineral note makes it special for me, it’s like a hot stone, imagine a hot stone spoon with a tiny ball of lemon ice cream on it, which fast gives way to a much stronger scent of a cotton t shirt, hot from the dryer (not scented dryer sheets).
This is the ultimate freshen up scent for me. I like things like eau dynamisante and that should be nice in the heat, but that does not have the same clean vibe this does. I absolutely love it.

I agree with the recent reviews below; this may be a pleasant but weird frag. It reminded me of Replica Beach Walk, perhaps due to the ylang-ylang and coconut presence. This is not typical summer frag like Bronze Goddess or Terracotta, neither does it smell white flowers like jasmine, gardenia nor is sweet at all. This is unique ( the only exception I know is Beach Walk as I said).

Very unisex for my taste- indeed genderless- both man and women can easily wear. Can also be worn at any season but daytime.

Surprising because on the first sniff I thought this is generic but later the frag developed differently on me. Interesting to have, and not very expensive where I live but I wont buy it. Not safe blind buy, test first if you are not familiar with Beach Walk already.

Smells like cashmere and salt water.
Soft yet breezy.
For me it smells.... unharmoniously.
Different notes blooming at the same time, but on their own. You can smell fresh water, cashmere, ylang. But that's about it.

This is a strange perfume. Very unusual. The combination of coconut, ylang-ylang and cashmere, like it is done in this fragrance is something i have never smelled before. There are also other notes that i can't quickly identify that also contribute to this weird vibe of Rising Sun. It's pleasant, comforting but it takes some time to get used to it. It's not your typical summer fragrance. The image that comes to my mind is a beach near a big city in Japan in the last days of summer when it is already starting to get cold.
It's not my cup of tea, but i can't say it's bad. It is, at least something different and i appreciate that.
It projects well and longevity is average.
Final note: 7/10

I really like shiseido and this one has a fresh summery vibe but the projection and longevity is really poor. The kind lady at the counter sprayed me like 5-6 times and half an hour later I dont really smell it. Otherwise it would be a really nice option for summer.

Rising Sun releases its aroma with the effect of a lava stone, invisible, continuously imperceptible but present. Really present.
It wraps my body politely, without intrusiveness. Approaching my nose where it was sprayed, I feel a hint similar to iron filings mixed with sand and ylang ylang.
Divine.
They told me it was conceived as moisturizing body mist and confirmed me that it can also be worn in the sun, therefore more sprays should be provided, contrary to what I am used to doing.
If Shiseido thought of turning this solar water into perfume, it would be to me the supreme expression of a small masterpiece in itself.
I count on it.

Perseia

Sun-kissed skin. Sunny, summery, happy fragrance.

I'm not really a fan of either coconut, cashmeran or ylang but notes in here are so well blended that I don't sense any of them to the point of being too much. The citrus and marine notes make it fresh, the cashmeran salty, coconut and ylang creamy. It's not tropical or sunscreen scent, it's not citrusy, it's not aquatic. It's just pure warm summery skin.

It gives a feeling of a beautiful and carefree woman lying on a beach in the summer.

Zizonia

Citrusy and creamy at the same time. Not very good longevity but very uplifting and optimistic.

Lubimaja

Summer and beautiful!
