Byzantium by Tesori d'Oriente is a Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. Byzantium was launched in 2016. Top notes are Almond, Cinnamon and Mimosa; middle notes are Honey, Heliotrope, Black Rose and Labdanum; base notes are Vanilla, Cacao Pod, White Musk, Peru Balsam and Agarwood (Oud).

The collection of Tesori d`Oriente introduced in 2016 the new fragrance of the collection inspired by "An imaginary trip to the legendary city of Byzantium, modern day Istanbul, among its sumptuous palaces lit by golden reflections and precious stones, imbued with scents of rare flowers and fine resins. The Byzantine imperial court has always been considered an inexhaustible source of inspiration for palace decorations, mosaics and precious jewels. Moreover, it is from here that ancient perfumery techniques and exclusive beauty rituals spread throughout the West. " – according to the website of the brand Tesori d'Oriente.

The new fragrance is based on the dance of black rose and labdanum, listed as key ingredients of the Byzantium composition. This is a dreamy and precious fragrance – scent of black rose in its rare and mysterious form embraced by labdanum which elevates the rose to its pedestal by creating a precious Byzantinian mosaic of aromas with other notes of the composition. Top notes of the perfume Byzantium blend cinnamon, almonds and mimosa flowers, whereas the heart highlights black roses, labdanum, honey and heliotrope. The base of the composition provides warmth of vanilla, white musk, oud wood, Peru balsam and cocoa.

The collection of Byzantium features the following products: Byzantium aromatic perfume in a 100ml flacons; Byzantium aromatic bath cream and Byzantium aromatic shower cream.

Very powdery and sweet. Sensual but in a comforting way. I can smell the almond and the honey intensively. It reminds me of Hypnotic Poison but this one in more dense. I think it’s a good choice for winter and good value for the money. Smells more expensive than it is.

Little Eva

This has became one of my staples durin g the winter months. It performs excellent thanks to the sweet notes. If I spray it on my clothes in the morning, I can still smell even on the next day.
What a steal! ❤️

lmnsvgz

It smells like thick, sweet almond cream!

Sergie19

I don't know what i was expecting for this price but it is probably the worst fragrance in my collection. Smells like shaving foam with medicinal almonds and a little hint of oriental spices. However performance is unfortunatelly pretty impressive, around 5 hours.

Angel scents

Bought this for 5 euros on makeup shop. It's somehow creamy and soft but also loud, it's powdery but also fresh, it's rich but also shower cream vibes, no clue how to describe it. But I like it. Longevity is not bad for the price.

Kin

A delicious creamy dessert, delicate and milky, enveloping but not overwhelming. Certainly very distinctive.

IVamp

My favorite Tesori d'Oriente. I don't feel any rose or oud in it, it's just a bomb of milky vanilla, nut-creamy sweetness with a slightly powdery base. Only suitable for cold weather, if it gets exposed to sun or mixed with sweat, it becomes pungent and repulsive. My partner got so addicted to it since he smelled it on me, that he started buying the fabric softener and the shower gel. It's a warm, cozy, deliciously bittersweet scent for the winter nights. To me (and my partner) it's an absolutely feminine smell. Amazing sillage and longevity for over 8 hours, great value for the price.

Iris128

I had such high hopes for this but it turned out completely different than i expected. This is definitely unisex leaning masculine, i get no feminine vibes whatsoever. The silage and the longevity are more than descent for such a cheap perfume.
Luckily, i didn't get the diaper smell but unfortunately, i got no sweet divine creaminess either. It was just a synthetic smell like cinnamon cookies dipped in men's shaving cream. On me it is completely linear, i only get the cinnamon, labdanum, some almond, a little honey, a tiny bit of cacao and some cheap oud from the beginning to end. No vanilla, no rose, no nothing else. Overall, I wouldn't mind smelling it on a man or spray the house with it but i hate it on me.

kashmirattar

At first spray, there was fresh rose and a hint of cinnamon spice and powdery resins. That lasted all of 30 seconds before it became a bombastic cloud of pink urinal cake and an open Johnson+Johnson talcum baby powder bottle angrily hurled at a pastel subway tile bathroom wall.

That fades and it settles into baby powder with a hint of a resinous floriental deep underneath the talc.

MoreScentsThanDollars

After hundreds of perfumes, this is still one of my very favourite and I'm just about to run out and we can't find it anywhere.
It used to be so aforable but now the sellers are asking a fortune for shipping.
If you see this at affordable prices, grab it, it's gorgeous 🥰

exavisszuo

Smells like a musky old spice store which has a wooden floor and that wooden floor has been fleshly cleaned and leaks a slight synthetic smell mixing with the woody smell and spices around. It has a good concept, but I'm not sure about the (slight?)synthetic type of smell I get from this. My friend told me it smells like a hair salon to her. It does, however, last very long on clothes, could smell it faintly for up to 2 days until it's completely gone.

BENANO BELLUCCI

To you out there looking for a milky creamy MARZIPAN Vibe... This is it.. smells like the pure marzipan block you buy and make confetti with... It also have the zlava maurossia dry down without the disgusting civet note.. so zlava dry down with marzipan...You are welcome. Never mind all these negative comments... like marzipan with cacharel Eden ,slava mauroussia milk cream... get this.

Im_only_lurking

Ugh this smells rancid on my skin. Like baby powder and diapers. I liked it when I first sprayed it, so I bought ot but after a few hours all it gives is diaper.

Gave it another chance today and all i can say is yuck!! I envy you all that get the almonds and the honey and cinammon and ALL the notes, but all I get is baby powder mixed with urine. Like I said previously, diaper.

ChayChama

It opens with a bitter almond notes that makes you crave a cocktail with Amaretto. I am not into sweet perfumes but this one is quite unique and a bit lactonic (even if no creamy milky notes are listed). I would not buy it again and would prefer to smell it on others. I will however always replenish its bath cream. It’s delicious! 🛁

Bonnies

This is so affordable, I had to try all of the Tesori d'Oriente collection and this one is my favourite. So almondy, I walked into a room wearing this and wearing it for 3-4 h at that point and my colleague said that I smell like almonds and she was standing far away from me.If you want a feminine option,an affordable one, definitely try it out.I mostly feel almonds and a sweet note for the first hour or so but the pefrume gets more powdery the longer it sits on the skin and you loose the almond scent but are left with this beautiful, clean, pure, comforting smell, like sheets when they are freshly washed with fabric softner and you can feel that they are clean and soft- thats the best way I would decribe it

ava96

This was a blind buy because it was so cheap - 3.50 EUR.
When I first sprayed it out of the bottle in the air, it smelled really nice to me, however when I decided to wear it a few days later... It makes me a bit sick.
To me it smells like a grandma (I love grandmas but I'm 20-something and I'd prefer to smell like a 20-something year old). The more I smell this scent, the worse it smells. I think this will go.

SusiLisa_pixie

This was not at all gourmand for me but more of a strong, powdery floral. It has a slight darkness to it though that easily makes it unisex.

It's cozy and comforting in Autumn and Winter. A fantastic cheapie when layered with the bath / shower cream and then the aromatic perfume!

KellyTheStew

You wanna talk about a hidden gem cheapie? Well, I got your hidden gem cheapie right here!

Byzantium is the perfect powdery, floral, sweet, doll's-head-plasticky fragrance that my collection needed. And it's served in an unassuming aluminum bottle with a cheap plastic sprayer and cap. But the fragrance is like no other I've tried before. It's pure sweetened powder with a good dose of aromatic rosey florals.

While I can definitely pick up on the sweet, almond-y facets of this fragrance, I do not consider this a gourmand. It's way too powdery and floral.

Byzantium is long-lasting and leaves a good trail. Don't get too trigger happy, though. I, for one, LOVE it, but I have a preference for boundary-pushing perfumes. It's truly something different. And at less than $10 USD, it might be a good choice to diversify your fragrance collection. It's not a luxurious fragrance, but it definitely *feels* luxurious.

Vellocet

This is such a beautiful, deep and rich gourmand scent! It’s almonds, it’s honey it’s chocolate etc! One of my best blind buys ever. And so affordable! Don’t sleep on this one. It’s absolutely gorgeous if you love gourmands. Performs very well too

kurzemesradioel

This is a boozy sweet, spicy dream hidden away in cheap unassuming bottle.
This is long lasting, and projects well.

Honestly this scent is like equivalent to those movies where rich people dress down and alter their looks to look poor to see how people will treat them if their money and fame won't speak for them everywhere they go!
Cause if this juice was a child of Dior's, YSL's or Mugler's for example, it's fame would sky rocket. Everyone would want a taste if this!

valentina.marini

i've seen some youtube videos where this is described as a gourmand....well, if you like to eat powder and soap, maybe it could be your taste lol.
this is not gourmand at all, byzantium is a sweet baby powder scent, very linear, cozy, clean. it's the sweeter brother of lorenzo villoresi's teint de neige, and it's so cheap you can blind buy it like I did. sillage/longevity are strong.

astamm62

Love this scent...You smell nice, but not like a perfume.

Elisabeth M.

This one exudes Nuit d'ete/Joop vibes on my skin and could be a good replacement for Joops dicontinued gem. Love it!

Evaaaaa17

jjluvsm9

One of the best cheapies I’ve tried! On me it’s a powdery honeyed almond. The longevity is moderate but I’d say the projection is very good - I’ve recently had a bad spell of buying pricy designer scents with no project at all on me, so the fact that this cheapie delivers that at 10% of the cost is impressive. Normally I hate powdery notes on me, and I will say this is a little mature, but the almond and honey makes me overlook it. I wish I could remove that damn heliotrope though lol, then I’d have a perfect juice. I love this one for the price so I’ll definitely repurchase!

My rating: 8.5/10
Bf rating: 9.1/10

NinaGi

Very pleasantly surprised! Smells like warm vanilla with honey and cinamon, it's sweet but not in a cheap sugary way. It has really good progection without being cloying. Lasts all day on my skin (which is extremely rare for me) and 2 days on my clothes. This puts down popular vanilla scents of famous and way more expensive brands.
● I totally get the negative reviews as I was planing to pass it to somebody else myself, after giving it 3 tries. I had an epiphany, I started spraying perfumes I realy disliked (including this one) at a much bigger distance than I am used to. I still can't believe what a difference it makes, they smell like a completely different perfume. Wanted to mention it in case it helps someone like it did for me.

DariaFrancesca74

Taken by a compulsive shopping spree, I emptied the Treasures of the East sector. Having snubbed and / or underestimated it for years and years, despite having appreciated its olfactory performance on several occasions. After reading all the reviews here on Fragrantica, I decided to test and live these cheap fragrances, very synthetic but still pleasant, if I do not go I will spray them in the rooms ... Byzantium by Tesori d'Oriente has a fresh and delicate almond scent that can already be appreciated at the juste pulvérisé, when dry the almond in accord with floral hints of mimosa blends with the warm note of cinnamon. The heart becomes sweet as honey and redundant with floral notes. Fondo is reassuring, powdery, vanilla, gourmand but not too much, all enclosed in oriental notes of oud. Pleasant discovery, which lasts over time. Clearly Keiko Mecheri's Loukhoum dupe created in 1998 later imitated in 2005 by Pierre Montale in Sweet Oriental Dream.

Himawarinonioi

I was obsessed with the shower gel version of this, so much that I bought this perfume and I absolutely hate it.
It smells only slightly like the shower gel, very overpowered musty rose and mouldy labdanum and very little else. Maybe I received a faulty bottle but this smells vile

Bokato

Not creamy, not rich, not warm
It’s very medicinal and has lotion smell and i get a slight bug spray scent
Not bad for the price
lasts a really good time on clothes
Honestly it’s nothing really special and it’s not yummy at all
According to the notes i had high expectations and i was very excited but on the first sniff i was disappointed I don’t hate it but I don’t like it
It’s just ok
it gives me headaches and makes me nauseous if i wear it on it’s own
I wouldn’t purchase it again after i finish it but as for now i layer it with other perfumes
Or i spray it after a shower only on my pulse points . Edit: I’ve had it for 6 months and no matter how much I’ve used it the bottle was still full and I just couldn’t bring myself to like it and felt like i was torturing myself so I ended up giving it to my mom and she liked it

Muicon

This is the best cheapie I have ever laid my hands on. It lasts quite a long time (longer on fabric). The scent is not too complex in my opinion but I find it very soothing. I think it smells like a much more expensive fragrance. I mostly get a combination of cinnamon, almond, vanilla, some woodiness, and some note that makes it slightly sweet (probably the honey note). I like using this one after shower in the evenings if I'm planning to wear a musk or pudree-dominated frag the next day. It's weird I almost never reach out for it during the daytime though... Still, considering the price versus the scent + performance, I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

*loves_shoes*

Smells of soap. Powdery, cinnamon, plasticky, soap.
If I read the notes I can smell a dry plasticky almond and a vague suggestion of vanilla.
Gets better the longer it’s on skin, but I can’t see myself ever reaching for it. Not sure what to do with it.
I guess cheap is cheap for a reason. Save your money and put it towards something better.

Edit: wow this stuff lasts. 6 hours later and it’s still projecting arms length. Less soapy, still a kind of spicy powdery soap scent though.

Edit2: the dry down is the same as the drydown of CK Obsession…..

Mystères du Château de Dé

Gauzy gourmand scent that I wouldn't wear on my body but don't mind smelling around a room as it is evocative. If you have plenty of candles and diffusers and sprays, this one might not be worth buying, but the aroma is interesting, perhaps relaxing.

mldaleali28

Omg this one is awful. It’s really cheap so I didn’t have high expectations but reading so many good reviews I thought it’s going to be something decent. I’m sorry but it’s absolutely horrible, cloying and synthetic almond and vanilla. It smells exactly like the cheapest almond and vanilla fragrance oils that you can find on ebay for £1 per bottle. Expensive perfume, really?… It lasts forever, I can still feel it even after I washed it and it makes me so nauseous.

〰✴ Byzantium: a marzipan treasure✴〰

Huge competitor of expensive parfumes. This fragrance has impressive value for money, and I recommend trying it if you like sweet, almondy scents. Even tho the price is so cheap (like, 5$!), it smells expensive. It’s powdery and ambery, slightly floral and spicy. Warm, cozy, unique, mature and sexy. The predominant note is definitely almond, but personally I also smell a lot of rose and labdanum, especially on my skin (I like to spray it on my hair as well). It has great sillage performance, one of the best in terms of longevity in my collection. Since it's very good and cheap I like to use it everyday. To make the scent last longer I use the body cream "White Musk" by Tesori d'Oriente, but I know that there are also the body wash and the body cream of the same fragrance, Byzantium; probably this triple combo will make this perfume last even longer!
Now to the downsides: is it doesn’t smell natural, it smells pretty chemical in my opinion. For this reason, and also for the complexity of all the different notes and accords, it’s not very easy to layer with other fragrances. The last downside is the bottle itself: looking beautiful indeed, but “feels” cheap with that plastic cap. For this price, tho, we can’t complain.

Setting and feelings: Long, long time ago, during one of your previous lives in the distant past, you’ve lived in an ancient capital, surrounded by smells and tastes that are unfamiliar to you nowdays. Back then, you tasted an almond sweet, some sort of marzipan, made from an ancient, traditional recipe.

(Sillage 7/10・ Longevity: 8/10・ Frangrance: 7/10)

Overall: 7/10

First impression: very similar to Montale's Sweet Orienta Dream, but that one is even sweeter, in my opinion. This one is more timid in its sweetnes, but the honey and almonds are still quite noticeable there. The rose is more pronounces in SOD. Overally, this still smells very nice and as I like SOD, I like this one, too. Not to mention I got it for like 4 euros, which is lik for free as far as buying perfumes goes. Little powdery goodness. :)

Update: I really recommend this perfume to those, who can't stand the SOD rose accord, or can't stand it's sweetness. I don't mind cloying sweetness in perfumes, personally, but some people do.

mirrorghost

this one starts with a very powdery rose and almond, and deep down i smell the labdanum and a hint of cinnamon. the rose fades more over time and it dries down to a powdery almond vanilla. like this one a lot, it's so cozy.

ladolcemae

Sweet almond oil and rose at first, but turns cupboardy on skin. Very powdery, which doesn’t work for me.

dezaval

Oh, my! Such a gem! The name itself is a great tribute to Byzantium, the eastern part of the Roman Empire. Its regime lasted for about 1100 years. It was the longest lasting empire ever! It was well known as the richest and more advanced country in Middle Ages. It is estimated that 2/3 of the world's riches were kept in the capital of Byzantium, Constantinople.

OK, back to the frag! First of all I really like the bottle of it. An ivory aluminum tin with a byzantinian mosaic in earthy tones. When first applied, you get a very sweet mix of almond and honey, which becomes more feminine because of the mimosa accord. I dare to say, it's very sweet for my taste, as I tend not to like too sweet perfumes (I'm into gourmand, not-too-sweet ones. Think of Angel by Mugler). But, as the time goes, you get a very sensual, opulent, luxurius, ultra feminine, ultra chic powdery frag, in a great celebration of rose, vanilla, oud and musk. After many hours on my skin, I couldn't believe that Byzantium (a perfume at this price!) could stand the test of time and turn into this magnificent fragrance! Longevity and silage are off the charts!!! It's absolutely ideal as a fall/winter everyday and evening fragrance. The quality and the price? You just can't beat these! I absolutely encourage you to even blind-buy this phenomenon!

meliecat

It's a mix of L. T Pivet's Heliotrope Blanc and Molinard's Habanita. Simple as that. I adore both.. Great price, good enough longevity. An absolute winner in my book..

Planet_X

Great little cheapie, that resembles Mecheri's Loukhoum Poudre indeed. It is nutty and powdery, sweet in an old-fashioned lipsticky way, comfort-zone aroma cloud, homey and inviting. The price of this juice just shows how much you overpay to niche houses just for their name and fancy bottles.

sugaryrose

This is amazing. It really smells like an expensive perfume. One wouldn't guess it's so cheap. Very good quality! The scent is so well-blended, warm, creamy, delicately spicy...It's not in-your-face type of fragrance and it's definitely not average or simple. It's elegant , gentle, smooth and sexy/erotic at the same time. Longevity and projection are also very good. Great value for money!

Palmer Eldritch

I had to completely delete my review for this one. It smells exactly like baby powder / baby oil. Sometimes I feel the notes are complete marketing strategies. It doesn't smell cheap, but classic 90's doll / baby powder scent. Will be passing it on.

Amy Ann

For me, this fragrance smells like the vanilla cream mixed with whipped cream from French eclairs. I don't know why, but that's how my nose feels. I only use the perfume as a room air freshener from time to time, but the shower gel and bath foam that came in the set I bought, I repurchased them in the meantime, because although I prefer the smells of forest or lotus on my skin after the bath, sometimes a little sweetness works just fine.

LadyIva

Tesori d'Oriente is one of the best producers of cheap drugstore fragrances. They also make fabric softeners, laundry perfumes, scented candles, liquid and solid soaps etc. If you haven't tried their products yet, you are seriously missing out!
As other reviewers have described, this is a sweet, opulent Oriental scent. I haven't tried Loukhoum or any other scents listed in the 'reminds me of...' category, hence I have to assess Byzantium on its own. What I can smell is, first and foremost, labdanum, as well as rose, vanilla, powder, almond and spices. It is obviously very synthetic and there is a strong alcohol odour in the first five minutes, but it evaporates quickly and you're left with this edible, rose-loukhoum goodness. What I am actually reminded of is - MFK Oud Satin Mood EDP, especially in the drydown. I'm not saying that Byzantium is a dupe to Satin Mood, they're not even that similar, and yet that's the sort of atmosphere and vibe that I get from this humble little gem. Given its ridiculously low price, projection and longevity are outstanding. Buy this fragrance, it'll make you happy!

xpetra82

OMG!!! the cheapest gem you can get....I blind bought this because people say that its similar to sweet oriental dream Montale and i wanted to get the vibe before i buy it (i can not test it due to covid)....And now i HAVE to buy sweet oriental dream Montale :)

fighter

OH LORD!

I was so pleasantly surprised to discover that this is a DUPE of Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri. And guys let me tell you something...what an incredibile price difference!

While Loukhoum is an expensive and hard-to-find niche fragrance (priced around 100/150 € for 100 ml) this one is...just below 3€ (t h r e e euros!) at the drugstore below your house...and they basically smell the same!! Can you believe that?

Despite being so cheap It's also quite long lasting - not to the level of the original (which is a sillage bomb) - but definitely more than satisfying for what you pay. Contrary to the original one which kind of evolves into a warm vanilla scarf, this goes more into the musky side.
What's also incredibile is that "Tesori d'Oriente" commercializes also a shower gel, a bath foam, a candle and even a londry softener with the same smell! LOL

However, back to the fragrance: this is an oriental mysterious powdery black rose mixed with almond and honey. Smells like luxurious eastern trips, like getting lost in the Istanbul market discovering exotic treasures and being romantically kidnapped by a Prince of Persia.

angienotesjunkie

After reading all the reviews I could find, I decided as a lover of almond & powdery scents, to risk the crazy cheep £6 price tag, as it's so well liked by others. Unfortunately it's a gamble that didn't pay off for me.

I sprayed it yesterday at around 6pm on my wrist and on a scarf. Just one spray on each. Initially all I got was a seriously strong blast of labdanum, alcohol and what I'm guessing is propellant. Not entirely unexpected as the bottle is a deodorant can design. Unfortunately the scent was like a mix of deodorant and wax floor polish, that was headache inducing, nauseating and in no way pleasant. This stage lasted for about 5 hours on my skin. However, on the scarf it softened quite quickly, so I stuck it out, hoping to get the lovely scent that so many have described.

Around midnight it had softened on my skin, to a much stronger, leathery labdanum based version of Palmolive milk & honey shower gel. It still smells like that, with the same strength, over 12 hours later! I get none of the other notes listed, which is a shame. It smells much more pleasant on the scarf than it does on my skin.

Monster longevity and projection and for the price, it's worth the gamble. It's a well liked scent, which unfortunately didn't work out for me. My bottle is sadly most likely destined to be used as an upholstery freshener.

Shwets

Smells just like sweet oriental dream and km lakhoum!!

Siv7Stars

I hesitated to order this as my first experience with this brand was deeply disappointing (Fior di Loto, yuck) but decided to go ahead as they are so cheap.. N this one is ace. I can't pick out any individual notes, it's just clean, soft, powdery, a bit washing powdery, fabric softener but v pleasant. If I couldn't decide what to wear I'd use this as I imagine it's very hard to find fault with, it's just.. nice. Quite strong as well, a couple of sprays is more than sufficient. Probably not for summer though, it's too thick, enveloping n cuddly.

maria1106

It is a nice scent but too sweet. I do not get any notes, only vanilla, and i can not make an effort to detect the notes because off the sweetness. As i said, it's a nice scent - a blind buy for me also - if only was not soo sweet ! What amazed me the most was that it last for ever, literally. It stays in the skin and clothes forever, never seen anything like that before.
Give it a try if you are fond of gourmands and vanilla scents. Byzanium has its own position in the fragrance world...

bel.gravia

As someone suggested - a Shalimar, but instead of being dirty, to me this is like Shalimar Edition Almonds kind of scent. Tesori is simply brilliant I have Musk and testing Byzantium, such a quality, in pretty bottles at ridiculously low prices, this is perfume heaven, everyone!

peachflambe

I bought two bottles on the strength of the reviews here and also because I love the scents it is supposed to convey, have learnt my lesson.

On first scenting it was unusual and interesting. The next step it smelt rather delicious, gorgeous. There was a hint of something not in the ingredients that the mingled scents combine to give me the impression of -tuberoses-. I loathe the scent of tuberose. On my third sniff as it warmed up, I smelt car deodoriser, the kind that look like little card trees. Tuberose also makes me feel queasy. I felt sick and can’t now look at the bottle without my stomach turning. It has that intense scent that petrol also conveys which also makes me want to gag. For those that love this & there are obviously many, it’s an incredible gift at the price. I wish I liked it & it’s unusual for me to dislike a scent but to me it’s also like one of those body sprays with which, those disinclined to wash, douse themselves.

Edit: I tried the scent again today because I want to do it justice, not condemn without a second scenting & I smell tuberose & some kind of fixative or similar used in aerosol deodorants. I tried to wash it off in the bath, it’s still eminating, great stuff if you like it, very powerful. I wonder if it’s the packaging that ruins it for me, I can smell the propellant perhaps, it’s a shame, disappointing.

gmr1967

Fragrance of rare beauty for people who love the rose, but don't expect the classic rose. Here it is very sweetened by the notes of honey and vanilla. And this intense mix makes this fragrance a masterpiece. Sweet, intense, persistent, intriguing ... I find everything I want from a perfume here. Leave the trail? Yes. Is it persistent? Yes, is it enveloping? Yes. A fascinating fragrance !!!

miinieeee

this is so hard to find in Belgium.
i have to order it online.

sweet,babypower-ish almond bitter and sweet in best way possible such a comfort/cozy perfume
this bottle scream BIG CUDDLE/SNUGGLE to me
Perfect for winter and very affordable.

Kostas54

I have it in the form of fabric softener! Really!

princess dragamirov

dare i say it - like a dirty shalimar - in a good way!

ViouAmara

This is a good value!
It starts with Almond sweet milk (I don’t get honey, and I hate honey, what I get is caramel or candy) very very creamy, gourmand.
After a while it is more powdery : rough cocoa powder with slight floral heliotrope. No rose for me.
Take care, it is heavy and powerful, in this case less is more.

giuseppe98gp83

Almond, honey, vanilla and Peru balsam. The fragrance is very reminiscent of the East, there is no need to deny that it is a small,low-cost gem!
Great!

doormouse1

This reminds me of one of the Black Phoenix oils - Eclipse.
Yummy, yummy honeyed almonds with rose.

I've tried to add ther BPAL Eclipse to the 'This perfume reminds me of' ' section above, but for some reason it will not add, despite being in the database. Strange ….

Received a bunch of samples and one is in there that just says "Byzantium." No brand, nothing else. I assume it's this one based on notes.

I really expected this to be a high-end scent when I tested it before looking up which one. I shouldn't be surprised that such a great scent is so affordable, but it is. And I'm very tempted to grab it, despite the fact that I'm not that much of a gourmand girl.

But this is more than just a gourmand. It's a cocoa-powder-covered almond cookie sort of scent. But not a cookie for kids. This is an adult cookie you find in a fancy restaurant, served on a ridiculously oversized plate intricately drizzled in a floral-infused honey sauce. Boujie desert. That's what this smells like. And I'm here for it!

Someone please tell me if what I have could be something else, because if not, I'm totally buying this (maybe, if I have money. Haha)

Great longevity, smells like a grandma's hand cream, feels comforting, like a nice cuddle before falling asleep.

EDIT: this is frustating. Byzantium has gotten me so many compliments and I started wearing it more because of it, even if it's not my favourite. To be clear, given that this smells a lot like honey and is an unisex fragrance, today I decided to ask my boyfriend to choose his favourite fragrance, between Back to Black (for which I have saved up for months to buy) and this.

He didn't even think about it.

He picked Byzantium on the spot, no second thoughts and got super excited about it. I gave it to him, it was lovely seeing him enjoy it that much. He doesn't have any memories connected to this fragrance whatsoever, yet still goes nuts for it.

4 more compliments were recieved in a single day when I was wearing this. It was crazy.

And it's 3 euros. C'mon.

This is basically lovely, soft baby powder in a bottle...
I don't think it is harmful or "terribly synthetic" (btw. most fragrances are - even the VERY expensive brands use tons of synthetic materials, otherwise the EU wouldn't even let them produce them!). Not a multi-facetted composition, that one, but come on, what would you expect for the price of about 6 Euros per bottle??? It's powdery almonds (think marzipan) and a veil of dusty old-fashioned rosiness in a rather cheap looking bottle.
Tis one is a bargain and a proof of the fact that you don't have to cash out a lot of money in order to achieve the same effect as you do when spryaing on some expensive Montale frag...
I'd LOVE to do a blind test of those on the people who pretend that this one is in no way similar to Meicheri or Montale and see what the results would be like...

For all the people who love this perfume, I am so sorry for what I am about to say. Please keep in mind that this review is based solely on my experience and is not meant to be an insult towards you or your preferences. I am sure that you might feel the same way I feel about Byzantium towards some of my favourite perfumes and that's okay. So here it goes...

This is one of the most cloying and awful perfumes I've ever smelled. After reading the reviews, I expected this to be a nice cheap hidden gem. Unfortunately for me, it is not. It's been five hours since I sprayed this on my hand and, despite my many attempts to wash it off, I can still feel it on my skin. This thing has monster sillage and longevity for its price - which is a good thing if you like this scent. To be honest, it has better sillage and longevity than some higher-end perfumes.

I've always heard of people complaining that a fragrance makes them nauseous. I used to think: "How silly! How bad does a perfume have to be to make you feel sick to your stomach or how fragile do you have to be to feel that way?". Today I got the answer to my question. I am on the verge of vomiting right now - and no, I did not eat expired or spoiled food. I try to breathe through my mouth mostly, which helps.

When I first sprayed Byzantium on, I was hit with an alcohol blast. I waited patiently and, a minute later, I got almonds and honey. It wasn't too bad. It smelled kind of cheap, but not awfully unpleasant. It was nice enough to not regret spending money on it. After 30 minutes, the perfume dried down and the nightmare began.

I began getting sweet and plastic and sun lotion and dust (not powder, but pure dust) and musk and old cabinet and room spray notes. These notes blended perfectly, creating one of the most awful smells to ever grace the surface of my skin. It smells so artificial and bad that it hurts.

I tried washing it off several times, but to no avail. This scent is here to stay. I regret every paying $6.5 on my bottle simply out of curiosity. This is officialy my worst blind buy ever.

If, like me, you're about to blind-buy Byzantium, I advise you to simply be careful. This could go very wrong - but it could also go so, so right, as the other reviewers below me noted. I can only hope my experience is an exception and that no one else gets to share it. I am currently hoping that tomorrow, when I wake up, the scent will be gone.

Update: The scent was mostly gone when I woke up. However, simply looking at the bottle makes me nauseous now. I've never had this reaction before with any other perfume.

Sequin

This one is so tasty, cozy and warm. I like the drydown - reminds me of dry forest air in summer, very woody

Edit: This perfume is a marzipan in a bottle. Looots of honey coated almond paste balsam. Yummy!

On clothes it lasts for days though

masako_30

I consider it my niche perfume.
I never imagined that Tesori d'Oriente line hides such a treasure.
All the credit goes to my co-worker for her precious explanation of how much Byzantium is a wonderful rose.

Tamaj

Ok idk what captivated me, but it's completely gone now. It just smells like a chocolate scented candle to me (not in a great way...) I wish I could still love it (maybe my nose got used to the notes?)

gabri

Incredibile dover pagare $ 25 di spedizione per questa roba.....dallItalia fino a qui ( USA) Ma quando mai !!!!!

proly

the bottle and the fragrance are horrible. I don't smell Montale's 'Sweet Oriental Dream'.
Maybe in my bottle has Safari- Ralph Lauren that i hate

rednut

Firstly, the bottles for this range are horrible- cheap and nasty but this is unlike the scent. Wow it's gorgeous. An almond lovers dream!. Certainly Unisex and definitely a cheaper ( and better in my opinion) alternative to Montale's 'Sweet Oriental Dream'.
It is easily a day to night fragrance. Almonds, vanilla, honey and heliotrope are the main notes but please do not think this is a sweet fragrance, it isn't. I don't think anyone could really dislike it and for the price, it's incredible. I love it and will be repurchasing. I find myself reaching for it often. Its longevity and sillage are superb and this is a fantastic example of a 'classic cheapie'. Tesori could charge much more for the quality.........

LesterTheDachshund

I am getting vanilla and brown sugar and a bit of cinnamon and almonds... It's not what I've thought it's going to be, but it's nice, esp. for a colder days

cinnakitty

It’s basically Sweet Oriental Dream, without the strong rose/sweat notes that ruined that for me.

Very much a honeyed almond scent, it’s also reminiscent of Black Sugar if the rubbery burnt note was removed.

Madrona

Byzantium manages to be both dense and airy at the same time. It's a delightful fluffy powdered bomb of almond, sugar (honey), vanilla, heliotrope and some resins for good measure. The top-voted notes are indeed the most prominent, but don't forget about the "backup singers" that prevent Byzantium from being Candyland.

It does remind me of how I remember Sweet Oriental Dream smelling, but I think I love this one even more - it's more fun, somehow. To me, it is way less rose-intense than KM Loukhoum PDS, less deep. The first blast can be quite overwhelming, so I do not recommend spraying it to the center of the chest (unless you're hardcore) and I think there is a high risk of this becoming cloying in the heat. I don't think it falls under most people's definition of unisex but I would gladly smell this on a man. Or anyone, really. For the price, it's beyond a steal.

Anteatereatingant

Ooh this is a fantastic cheapie - I would never have guessed this is a £10 /100ml perfume, you could have told me it was £50-60 and I would have believed you.

It's strong for the first hour or so, and then goes down to moderate, at which stage it lasts for several hours, about half a day. The scent is intricate and intoxicating. At first it's got some floral in it, but pretty soon it fades into a straight-up creamy, sweet, heady almond. These notes exist in the opening as well, mind you, they're just blended with a beautiful, almost gothic-smelling red rose. After the first 15-20 minutes, though, the rose fades away.

A stunning perfume for something so cheap, and can easily give a lot of 'designer' fragrances a run for their money.

Suzy Schnabel

Great bb, love it! Feared the rose (difficult note for me)and that it would remind me HPoison even for a moment ( can't wear ), but it doesn't at all . Not too sweet (less then AMuse )and it stays somehow fresh all along ( mimosa?)
Went for the labdanum (a fav. note) and it's there indeed.
Must be one of their best indeed. Not very gourmand, no strong vanilla or rose, it's mostly BALSAMIC to me, just as I love it and hoped for :))

Harpalike

Sweet, nutty and creamy. The rose is weak and warm, different from the roses from my coutry, which are colder. I find the aroma innocent and cheerful, may be as it reminds me a smell from my childhood - not a perfume, rather a house in which I was happy, my granny's house. The longlivity is very good.

robertachiara.santangelo

Terente

Probably the longest lasting Tesori D'Oriente unisex. And it has a wonderful smell. A nice mix of almond, honey, vanilla and spices. So oriental. For me, the better smell from Tesori D'Oriente, together with Jasmin di Giava for women. Long lasting, that kind of smells who remain in your nostrils, like good old car freshners, made with sense of responsibility. Moderate sillage, but don't overspay it. Very good quality/price ratio. I found it here in RO at less than 5 euros. :D

Smell 9/10
Longevity 7/10
Sillage 7/10
Q/P ratio 9.5/10

Salema

I thought it would be something more atmospheric and evocative but i smell almonds, rosewater and honey at the most part. Some flowers also. Really nice smell!

It has a baby oil undertone to it.
Great longevity 8 hours+!
Value for money.
8/10

dipisor

The drydown of this reminds me of Dior Hypnotic Poison EDT.
This one is too powerful, though. Gives me a headache every time I smell it from the bottle. I tested it once on my skin and I was sick all day. Sad, cause I really like the smell, it's so powdery sweet, but it's too strong.

WalewskaNoir

Its my Winter sleep to go scent. On my skin its very dry bitter almonds with cinnamon. This dryness doesnt make me love it. I know its unisex. If the honey or vanilla was more prominent I would love it. Hence its good product, great for layering with something sweet.

TankGirl

I dont get all the listed notes on my skin. This pergume smells musky and powdery, reminds me a lot of avon soft musk. Its very nice as a bedtime scent and for layering.

Albertos

✣ Hello! Today, St.Nicholas knocked on me with such a rich scent, i.e. Tesori d'Oriente Byzantium, profumo water. This is already my second bottle and certainly not the last one, the smell of Made in Italy, something beautiful, expensive in reception and delicious like a pudding served in an Italian cafe. We have here flowers, vanilla, honey, almond and this cocoa, plus many other delicacies, the smell smells expensive comparable Montale Oriental Dream clone, so we know that this is definitely "RICH SCENT" and total unisex! It is sweet, delicious, powdery and pudding. Dear slayer of fragrance, stock up on the rich Byzantium while it is on the market, it is worth having in the collection the treasure for me, it's December's holiday time to feel the Christmas cuisine in it. The persistence of the kiler but not kills rather the whole day or even 2. I thank the heart of the efiori shop .com.pl for such a pearl as for the rest of the cosmetics of this company and other brands straight from sunny Italy, now I can say that I have Italy in December in my house. Amen. I would recommend! <3 Alberto.

MonsoonMemories

An ideal mix of ingredients.
Nearly a perfect perfume.

Cherry_Darling

Wow this is amazing. To me it's what we do in paris is secret by a Lab on Fire. (and Tardes Carner. I'll have to test side by side :) And at a fraction of the price! Always love a bargain especially if it smells expensive.

**tested side by side - well, general feel is the same, almondy sweet powdery balsamic vanilla honey heliotrope with a touch of rose and woods, but Paris is more sophisticated, rosier, and has a more subtle sophisticated drydown. But Byzantium is amazing too and what a price.

Greensprite

The first time I tried this I thought it smelled soapy. But like with oils after I had let the bottle stand for a bit and then tried it again it was totally different and not soapy at all... Powdery yes... Like almondy baby powder mixed with Turkish delight ( buy no rose just the sweet powdered sugar). I really like it now and have worn it for consecutive days (a real rarity for any perfume). Perfect for autumn. A bargain.

laura710

No offense, this smells like floor wax. Terrible smell, like detergent, very bitter and super powdery. Not sweet at all, to me. Scrubber :(

Nikkafragrance

Awesome mix of bitter almonds, vanilla, roses and labdanum! Very erotic and seductive, amazing quality for that price. I get cacao and oud too, and I am a sucker for well made oud perfume. It's not too sweet, on me it's more of a balsamic and warm spicy. Perfect silage and longevity. Grab this while it's still in stores.

Albertos

Wow! Sweet Oriental!..vanilla, almond, very long lasting...in 4 season.UNISEX. Love it! Grazie Italia.5 stars. My Favorite in Tesori d Oriente.
Love...Jasmin, Fiore Dragon and Byzantium.

paneradfisk

So beautiful rendition of loukhoum, and for such a low price. I'm certainly impressed with the quality of this perfume. Sweet, sugary, powdery, dusty, airy, LOVELY almond meal and a very subtle rose. The rose is less prominent than in Keiko's Loukhoum. I prefer this one more, as I'm more of a gourmand nut.

MoreScentsThanDollars

If you love your precious Loukhoum's, Louve, Sweet Oriental Dreams, as much as I do and want to be able to spray liberally without concern to cost$, Your body, clothes, bedding, everything, This is the solution. A+
I love it so much I got 4 bottles!
This should be called 'Dreams come true!' <3

polly golightly

Shiffy

Dolcemente muschiato e talcato.. ricorda i prodotti per neonati..

preslavapopova

I was excited to try Byzantium, but it is such a dissapointment for me - on my skin appears as straight old-lady-style rose scent, combined with some cough syrup smell. Overwhealming, cloying and sickly sweet, I didn't like it at all. Moderate longevity and sillage.

QueenOfSpades

Totally agree with @maelleinrome !! I highly recommend!

maelleinrome

Yes!!! This is surely in the same vibe of Loukhoum, Sweet oriental dreams and Louve...Rose, honey and a powdery, almondy, adorable base. On my skin, it's a softer (but still intense and long lasting!) and more wereable version of Loukhoum... and for 4€ ca! Absolutely worth trying if you like this type of frags... I ensure it's a great blind buying!

emiana

very similar on my skin to Montale Sweet Oriental dream...mix of roses and honey!!

SIPLANTIS

Really the notes look amazingly good. Hope to find a chance to try.:)
