Lavender Dragees- that’s what I would have named this. Beautifully pastel. It smells like candy coated almonds and lavender. Pressed powder creaminess. I don’t pick up Violet or rose but I’ve only worn this twice. It’s beautiful and now I have to save up for a full bottle once my 15ml lab sample runs out.

2ND VISIT:
Rich, green hay. Warm, spicy, uplifting. Both skin + fabric results in root beer/cream soda & choc cake. I'm normally opposed to gourmand, but this is deep and not cheesy/saccharine. Strength of tonka bean dominates dry down…choc milk that's not sweet. Nuanced and fun to explore with faint vetiver complexity. Dangerously cozy and appealing. Never got any lavender. Want to try a stronger version, if avail.

1ST IMPRESSION:
Dominant thick woody warmth expertly balanced by dry top note.

Trying to find floral, but only get mild vetiver. Cozy and sexy, with complicated spices/cinnamon. Instead of dense vanilla - rich tonka bean/choc milk. Impressively comforting vibes that use dryness to be tasteful and not generic. What lavender there is, lends the perfect amount of dryness to body, not aroma.

One of the most impressive takes on a “cozy night in” that’s easy to like. Personally, too safe for full bottle.

If you're hankering for this but can't afford to buy a bottle, Oil Perfumery makes a fairly accurate dupe that might suit your needs. Personally, I think this fragrance is quite beautiful, but I wouldn't pay $200 or more for what is essentially a very upscale version of a lavender essential oil over a pretty vanilla-coumarin base. The other floral notes are beautiful, and I do love the elegant Tom Ford chess-piece bottles (fingers crossed that Maison Alhambra will do one of their hilariously brazen knockoffs so I can display it next to "Lovely Cherie"), but I simply cannot countenance Tom Ford prices. If I had a few spare Benjamins to spend on a single bottle of fragrance, I would go Guerlain or Chanel, no question. MAYBE Frederic Malle. But I find most of the Tom Ford scents to be overrated--this one might be my favorite so far insofar as there is no weird, off-putting, in-your-face niche note to ruin everything, just a clean, relaxing, spa-like lavender note with a soft but insistent coumarin note.

I hate cinnamon. This would be perfect without cinnamon. I'm looking for lavender-tonka-vanilla combinations such as Pour un homme - Caron, Prada Luna Rossa Sport and Killian a Taste from Heaven.

I knew I was in trouble when I first smelled this: the realization I would have to drop “discontinued and rare” sorts of cash to acquire it hit me.

I tried to look elsewhere. I didn’t want to spend that sort of money.

I thought I’d be able to save a few bucks with Rimbaud (which my nose actually preferred) but sadly, on my skin it was a whisper after 1/2 hour.

Lavender Extreme opens with a bright, crisp lavender that does tend to get ever-so twangy as it dries. The sharper note dissipates by the middle and the dry down is a soft, fluffy lavender with a hint of vanilla. Gorgeous!

Immensely wearable and comforting.

I am selling my Lavender Extreme 50ml bottle (around 45ml left, bought at the official store in London), unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

Please let me know if you are interested

Okay here it is…I’ve never even paid attention to this when it was out Al all!! I was one of those with a super crazy price with the chrome presentation chrome metal plac on front & what not.. It may have been 2020 during Covid not sure all the reasons why it got axed. Nevertheless I thought nothing of lavender except for a bathroom cleaner…But wait..Actual lavender oil mixed with whatever Tom Ford does with a private blend?? OMG mannnn I was wanting something completely different in my collection nearing the end of 2023 and recieved a sample of Molinard Lavande & knew I loved the drydown of that $60 fragrance, The perfume guy on YouTube was holding them both saying how they where similar…So I started reading all of these reviews and blind bought it full presentation & all from a seller who had a few and wow oh wow!!! Lavender with I don’t know? White Chocolate? Whipped airy coconut? I’m no professional But I sure am enjoying trying to figure it out…I will purchase Lavande edp so I can wear this scent profile more often & be my dumb reach because with 50% off the original price of this one is still high but worth getting before it’s once & for all gone for good…

LEM922

If anyone is willing to trade, please let me know. Been searching for this one, pretty hard to find.

Mellerouge

It is was the name suggests. An extreme powerful lavender. Gee

kwooty

Bottled scent of lavender fields.
Outstanding performance and longevity. Sharp initially, eventuating to a dense & overpowering lavender scent. The name says it all. It IS lavender extreme.
Starts out too strong for me, thought I must say that my sense of smell is more heightened than the average person. Lasts forever on my skin.
Due to my sensitivity, I want to tone down the initial metallicness and have tried to layer it with White Suede to soften the smell but nada. Can't smell white suede at all. One spray on the wrist, far away from me, is enough to send my olfactory tingling in an uncomfortable way.

RXQM

Absolutely stunning. Smells like sweet, rich lavender. If youre from the middle east then you know that it smells like Mahalabi.

GreatGatsby007

Another one I want to love from smelling the bottle, but hate it on me. From the bottle, it smells exactly like fresh lavender fields. On my skin, all I get is Play-Doh.

Dina France

If you have ever been at the lavender fields of Provence - this is the smell! It has nothing to do with processed lavender (oils, dries lavender, etc).

stephenmpx

It's just masterful. I thought it was so flat just smelling it on the blotter years ago and it wasn't until I tried it on my skin that I realised the depth and intrigue it has. The cinnamon tempers the aggressive metallic flare of the lavender and the tonka and coumarin soften and enrich the composition. Glad I bought one before it was axed. People really didn't give this one a proper chance.

KBreckenridge

Bring it back, please!

Nate_915

The opening has a kind of metallic freshness along with the lavender that matches the color of the bottle perfectly. It dries down to a creamy lavender/vanilla with a touch of cinnamon. Doesn’t get too powdery. Unisex leaning masculine imo. Longevity seems to be pretty good with moderate projection. If you’re a Tom Ford collector, the striking bottle is reason enough to have this. Doubt I’ll go past my 10ml decant, but this is a good, safe “all occasion” fragrance.

LuvitD3

Masterpiece.

pug_pug2

Nice elegant lavender. i have lots of niche perfumes and this was one of my favorites and it layers well with other fragrances, very unisex. r im selling my whole niche collection

Clauder13

Fantastic lavender scent, this is sweet, creamy and smooth, you'll get hugged by wearing this, although the opening might not be the best part of it but once it starts settling down that's where the magic starts.
Works anytime.
Highly recommended.

FragDude88

Absolutely love this, too bad it's discontinued. To simplify, smells like rich and creamy lavender with a sugar cookie. A high end sugar cookie! lol. Amazing stuff!

SophiaViolette

Do you want to smell like a lavender home diffuser? Probably not. The lavender here is so suffocating that it’s hard to enjoy the notes, even after it has dried down. Cinnamon with a hint lavender sounds lovely, but as the name suggests It’s pushed to the “Extrême”.

You can find similar perfume or oil smelling the same made locally in Provence in France. I don’t have specific brand names as I’m not into lavender perfumes, but you can walk into a perfume/oil shop anywhere in Provence if you get the chance. Coming from TF this is not original, just a big brand copying the small guys.

Edit : I give 2 points for the quality, I appreciate that this lavender perfume isn’t powdery nor sweet. Quality is fine, but overpriced.

In short: expensive and rich.
After a while this scent becomes suffocating.

I am a big fan of lavender. I want lavender in everything. IMHO, though this perfume has tons of lavender, but it also has cloying scent of violets. After a while a smell of smth rotten joins the chorus as well.
Unfortunately, this one didn’t work out for me. But I do recommend to give it a try cause it might work out on you!

DearAlexabell

I was absolutely shocked I remotely liked this even enough to consider buying it. I sampled it for fun cause I like to sample pretty much everything by a brand if I can. I usually hate floral but this one has a special place in my heart, definitely top 5 florals I’ve tried as a gourmand & spicy lover. It’s a sweet soft true lavender scent. Very dreamlike, I recommend.

annamal

This one! I have never liked the smell of lavender, but have fallen in love with this one. I think people are smelling a fake one since this one is definitely not an essential oil smell. It is one of those perfumes, you want to wear to make memories. I am not a fan of basic fresh, citrusy floral scents, so this one is my perfect "fresh" summer perfume- I have been literally wearing it the whole summer. Tonka bean and coumarin make something magical to the composition. The cloth I have been wearing it with even after months smell like lavender. Amazing! It is now one of my favorite must-have perfumes.

Bring it back!!!! :(((

Mizmonsta

The scent is wierd, but not in a bad way, in fact it changed up on me. I got it in october and at first it was a solid blast of lavender, followed by some powdery metallic spice bomb kinda vibe which was nice and comforting to wear on one of those fresh out of the shower and chilling at home Wednesdays (which also lends itself to the idea that this is prolly a better candle scent then one I’d wear outside, atleast till spring maybe). I recently sprayed it now (December) and got a blast of lemon now, which even tho it’s listed as a scent I never smelled prior so it’s a bit perplexing to me. it still dries down as I’ve mentioned and the initial blast of whatever you smell only last about 15 minutes for me. I think it would layer nicely with something like Vanille Fatale or Tabacco Vanille. Maybe even rose prick. Even tho it’s nice I feel like it needs something else to really unlock its potential.

Mona708

Imagine a slightly masculine version of R.E.M by Ariana Granda, but with a tart beginning and a little less lavender. It also reminds me of Metallique with a hint of Mon Guerlain thrown in for laughs. I liked this a lot, and I would probably buy it if the lavender were stronger and it weren’t so expensive.

sugarcane

Okay maybe some people are getting fakes because this does not smell like just lavender oil or some type of aromatherapy lavender stuff.

To me it smells like 1/3 Russian tea cakes/Mexican wedding cakes and 2/3 lavender. It’s decadent, amazing. To me it leans more masculine. Excellent fragrance. If you like lavender it’s a no brainer. It’s not barbershop either. It’s herbaceous and slightly desert like.

stephenmpx

It's discontinued according to TF's website. It's on sale for 50% off.

AaronT

A brilliant lavender scent, not something I thought I would EVER say, but it's a must-buy now.

I do like lavender, but I never thought of wearing it as a scent because I thought of the simplistic menthol and linear essential oil, which is just - well - lavender. Nothing special. I thought definitely not paying the big bucks for something that I walk past in the garden, how could anybody take it and turn it into something worthwhile. Well trying other scents I knew it was possible, but come on it's just lavender.

Turns out I will have to dish out the cash. You get an extremely clean photorealistic lavender with amber or vanilla facets, that makes you want to constantly sniff your arm or testing card.

I guess that's what perfumery is about they took one note and tuned it like an instrument, alongside others to behave or react in a certain way.

Callum_D

The best lavender on the market, Despite being hideously overpriced I still had to buy a 50ml

jesses

I really loved the scent on the initial spray! It smells mostly like straight up lavender… Close to the essential oil! I was hoping that the lavender scent would stick around much longer than the essential oil… But unfortunately it did not :-(. Honestly I perceived that the lavender note left after literally just about 3 minutes. I’m sure it is not the fault of the perfume… I bet that lavender is just one of those notes that does not last very long, similar to citrus notes. The dry down is nice, but not something that I would want to wear myself… It smells mostly like incense and vanilla to me….I would prefer it in a candle I think!

kerriejo

Picked up 50ML for 65% off at CCS. For what I paid for it, I love it...but not on ME. I think this would smell incredible on a man's skin. I LOVE lavender as a note but prefer the lavender in Mon Guerlain or YSL Libre better as they feel more feminine to me with more vanilla - they're more round where Lavender Extreme is more linear, more aromatic and zen-like. I understand how this is marketed as unisex but I definitely feel it leans more masculine.

Adog22

Smells like Lavender oil but with some warmth of vanilla and cinnamon and woods. Smooth and creamy. almost smells too close to lavender oil to justify buying but it is very nice. Slightly more on the mature side.

AutumnJewel

Note For Myself: My boyfriend found this to be really nice for himself. It smells nice for sure but I haven’t tried it myself .completely unisex.

sisina96rv

Hmmm,
what else to say,
Lavender, lavender, lavender.
Very pleasant, very herbaceaous, clean, fresh, a bit sharp probably from geranium and lemon, calming.
I like it a lot!!!

msamber86

I love Tom Ford fragrances, but this one is not for me.

This starts with violet and lemon, which I am not the biggest fan of. The notes seem to clash instead of meld together. It reminds me of bathroom cleaner. There also seems to be a peppermint type of smell in the background which is nice but it doesn’t mesh with the top notes.

After about 30 minutes it becomes a mix of lavender, cinnamon, and tonka. The cinnamon and tonka bring a warmth to the lavender and it mixes very well. Though sometimes it leans medicinal. I am not getting a lot of the lavender which is a shame.

orangelips11

Although this one performance very weak, but I still love it, because I am addicted to lavender scent
and its very expensive, yeah its Tom Ford

Ceekel

Lavender Extreme has a fresh airiness about it. I'm not really feeling this one for myself. This is more masculine in my opinion. Not one of my picks from Tom Ford. I was just testing this one so no full bottle for me

Brighteststitcher

I am an absolute sucker for lavender, sharp, clean, herbaceous lavender. This is not really that, but I still absolutely ADORE it. It took me a bit to convince myself to buy due to the price, I am not sure this is actually discontinued as it's quite easy to find even though still ~$375. I have been wearing this for about a week and it just keeps giving. At first it is all fresh, creamy lemon. Nothing sharp in this scent to me. At first I was thinking I got absolutely no lavender, but then it sneaks up to you on the dry down, giving you a gorgeous floral lavender without that powdery/soapyness and then the cinnamon comes in like you're just drifting by someone baking in the kitchen for a subtle, round spiciness. 10/10 and I have no buyer's remorse for the insane price tag.

6opar

Why wasn’t this called Hard Lavender or 12 inch Lavender? Would Lavender Snowball be too much?

Anyway, on a more serious note the essential oil packaged here does swing some massive, pulsating and natural lavender. It’s fantastic. There are caramel nuances that run like veins on the lavender stem. In short, Lavender Extreme does not say anything new, but what it says is pure and beautiful. Even that coumarin-heavy finale.

Finally, a TF that probably maybe is worth its price.
****(*)

spiceysauce5

Mix of vert d'encens and musk ravageur, or perhaps the more spicy/unisex/masculine version of mon guerlain edp.

It opens really loud and in your face, but after a few min it calms down to a very creamy buttery scent. Initially very strong Lavender fades over the next few hours and the Tonka really shines through, though its spicy and less vanillic than I expected. All the while I get a snowy powder backdrop with a touch of green coming from somewhere. The cinnamon is definitely present but smells less edible and more cozy.

6.5/10

ITRT

My wife owns this exceptional fragrance. Every time she puts it on, it fills each room and then the car when I take her to work - it projects such a wonderful and warm calming aroma. When I collect her then in the evening, the scent picks up where it left off and fills the car imeaditly again. This is an amazing Perfume.

Supersoaker2

Smells like the new dove lavender body wash which smells amazing but this is the fragrance counterpart turns creamy then dry then herbal? It’s good stuff don’t think you will offend anybody.

updog

This one is amazing, but a better name would be Coumarin Extreme. Not that there’s no lavender, but the coumarin is the most dominant note. As it opens up, it smells exactly like a candle. I can’t stop smelling myself when I wear this. Definitely full bottle worthy.

DustyMemphis

@Terrll, you're using it wrong!!! Spray on your shirt, not your skin, cause you probably have a horrible diet like most people, and that makes your body chemistry mess it up... Spraying on clothes, makes it last for days, with just 2 sprays, don't kill the room with typical over-spraying!!!

Terrll

Pure lavender upfront then turns creamy and more powdery. Disappointed by the longevity.

doomedstyle

To my nose its similiar to Fève Délicieuse by Dior, anyone else?

lmn110

Ummmm does anyone feel like this smells exactly like Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle?? Sure the Lavender dominantes but it’s more like a very dry, sweet lavender. I didn’t like Musc Ravageur back then but Lavender Extreme…. somehow get me. And that’s the initial spray. I should try it for a few times more.
fyi: it’s NOTHING like Lush Twilight or Ariana R.E.M, at least on me since I own them all. Lush Twilight is def fresher and less sweet. I guess it’s geranium in Lavender Extreme, very subtle, but noticeable.

Shadow_Slammer

Smells 100% like Starbuck's London Fog Tea Latte. Longevity and sillage are both great, my only con is the fragrance is linear. If you want to smell like a London Fog Tea Latte, safe to blind buy.

Flippi1

It’s not currently discontinued!! Available through all usual retailers !

Casey9717

I ordered a sample of this through luckyscent, and it's only because it was available and I've recently become a fan of TFs private blends. I can't believe I haven't heard of this more!!! It's soooooooo lovely. Yes, the initial blast is pure, beautiful lavender, but after 15 minutes, that's when things start to get interesting. It always has that lavender note coming through, but the tonka comes to my nose super creamy and almost lactonic. But add to that a spicy/incense note that just plays in the background. After a couple days with the sample I had to order a full bottle. Perfect for casual everyday wear. I'm not sure I'll wear during the hottest days of summer due to the creaminess of it, but we'll see! Also definitely more of a day or casual evening scent and not something I would typically wear for a night out.

lapequenita

Love from the first sniff. Comforting, soothing and cocooning scent.
I tried it for the first time in the middle of the winter and since then I would say is a cold weather perfume. It leaves such a beautiful trail on a woolen sweater. In the opening you can definitely smell all the lavender but coming to the drydown tonka comes in front and makes it so smooth.

ajfragrances

Nothing bothers me more than a fragrance that smells so basic but is so expensive. Please just buy some lavender essential oil and be on your way lol don’t be enticed by the brand or price, because this is all I personally smell. It’s a cute fragrance, but the price…. SMH.

Frangipanilove

Its really comfortable, a vanilla lavender (well, tonka bean & lavender). Like an expensive vanilla lavender. The cinnamon suits it, warms it up further. A teddy bear for a scent. Powdery on dry down but in a comfy way. Its good, but not worth the price tag.

carmenandmonkey

Opens sharp like a freshie colonge, I get a lavender essential oil-esque impression. I get the lemon that brightens and sharpens the fragrance too. Within a minute the tonka then deepens and smooths and things out and I can detect a tiny bit of cinnamon. At the dry down I feel that this is quite powdery, and almost like plastic baby wipe container in an old folks home that's just starting to slowly burn. This may have something to do with the geranium (possibly the combo of courmarin which I am still familiarizing myself with).. Smells great from the bottle though, hopefully it's just my skin chem

Nutmeg & Almond

I need to admit my bias here. Lavender is my favorite note so I was predisposed to like TF Lavender Extreme. That said, it has become one of my top five fragrances.

The opening spray is a burst of very realistic lavender which eventually settles into a creamy, woody lavender fragrance. As a mental health therapist, I like to wear calming scents to the office because it soothes me and sets the atmosphere for my clients. I have been reaching for Lavender Extreme a lot.

Price may be an issue for some. Sebastian at Smelling Great Fragrances suggested that Molinard’s Lavande is almost identical to Lavender Extreme. I haven’t tried Molinard’s version but it may be something for you to consider. Personally, I am going to enjoy this bottle until it runs out and probably consider another after that.

holocene

Smells like Musc Ravageur by FM and Twilight by LUSH. Powdery, sweet lavender— very nice, but unexceptional.

PPAN

All I can smell is extremely realistic lavender throughout, with very little of anything else. It's pretty nice and relaxing, almost aromatherapeutic. But it's a skin scent and definitely not worth the crazy price tag. Go get some essential oil instead...

TeachOlfactoryArt

Hmmm… lavender, coumarin, violet ionones, cinnamon… some of the cheapest essences and synthetics available to the perfumer’s palette. Think on that when you look at the price tag.

gravity

It's like a softer, powdery-er JPG Le Male. Lav Extreme replaces the spicy aromatic sharpness of Le Male with a slightly resinous lavender at first spray that dries down to the soft powderiness I was mentioning. It's wonderful but "basic" in some ways. In the same way, you get exactly what the fragrance is called so I wouldn't get it expecting some epic multi note abstract fragrance. It's lavender....extreme'd

valentinocerca.amore

very good perfume, 7 hours of longevity and projection, compliments arrive when I wear it. a boy licked my neck, he wanted to eat me.

nosekiss

This is a lavender-bomb with a sweet powdery dry down. The strong lavender disappears after a little bit but does smell vintage from the powder. I assume it’s from the tonka bean. This is a nice and safe lavender perfume but would not buy a fb because it’s so dang expensive.

Next!

Nooshin (Atghia)

It’s a very realistic lavender fragrance. Lavender Extreme pure smell exactly matches its metallic and mirror like flacon. It truly evokes the smell of crushed stem on your skin. Here there is a prominent hay accent which is warped into warm spicy nuances, before gradually melting into traditional fougere structure that is made from a superb geranium and sweet tonka bean combo.

matfr

If Pour un Homme de Caron says everything one needs to know about French elegance, this is located very much an ocean away. This is a brash, loud, somewhat cloying, take on Lavender. This is the Hawaiian shirt of lavenders - lavender smothered in coconut oil glorying in the trashy drinks and semi-naked bodies of trashy beach resorts. This is Spring Break lavender. This is... confusing. Sedate, calming lavender just doesn't work in this context. Tom should have just stuck to wearing Pour un Homme and left it at that. Brash lavender/coconut affair that fades into a slight cinnamon spice. Ten times more expensive than Caron's infinitely better offering.

Jcee

hard to describe but i’ll tell u what it’s not.. i like warm florals & gourmands & this is neither. the tonka bean, cinnamon & vanilla on fragrantica’s profile of this scent is misleading.

Flippi1

alway makes me feel slightly bohemian and eccentric good sillage and always turns head - combine with a dash of tuscan leather for night time impact !

Konga5000

I always found Lavender boring because I was educated on essential oils before my perfume addiction - thus Lavender was more of a basic "medicine" for headaches & depression. Lavender MUST have been used by companies in making toilet paper and tissues at some point in history because when I was first introduced to it , that was the association my weird brain made.
That said : I sampled this at my Tom Ford counter yesterday and WOW ! Magic. This opens with a silvery lavender swimming around some other notes producing a VERY complex opening that compels you to sniff your wrist as the world around you dissolves . Hypnotic , exotic & narcotic ! Probably the best lavender fragrance I have ever sampled in my life!

hsiangchi.huang

What an underrated creation from Tom Ford!

Lavender Extreme is a smooth, round, soft and airy fragrance that features a lot of lavender and tonka beans (I thought it's vanilla at first). Reminds me of lavender earl grey ice cream, but not gourmand nor cloyingly sweet. It extracts only the soothing aroma from the ice cream, but not the sugar. It's a lavender fragrance but not the stereotypical aromatic essence oil kind of fragrance. Unisex and easy to wear in all season and everyday occasions.

Scent (subjective): 9/10 --> (probably one of my favs from TF)

The Wolf

Lavender. Lavender Lavender and more Lavender.
Lavender essential oils with a slightly powdery vibe.

I'm cool with the essential oils in the air but I wouldn't want to wear them.

Unmarkedbillz

I cant think of a better name for this fragrance. It is extreme lavender. I get a bit of lemon but mainly potent lavender. Lasts for a while with a touch of tonka. Would be Prince's favorite fragrance.

Kat Hi Five

Stunning, bold LAVENDER! at first waft. There is also a whisper soft note of violet that always keeps Lavender Extreme balanced and bold but never pretentious. 8 hours later I went to bed with my nose resting on my wrist. Lavender Extreme was still stunning but now also soft and comforting. I gave a sleepy smile of contentment and got a very good nights sleep. Definitely full bottle worthy. Grab it while you can.

hfiebert

This is a great scent, so relaxing. It is all about lavender, bright lavender, citrus lavender, vanilla lavender, creamy lavender, etc. I can see this being worn year round but it might be to much for Summer days. Glad I grabbed this before it disappeared.

GoodVibrations

The deepest and richest facets of the Tom Ford Noir collection are on display here in their finest presentation. This is a long-lasting, comforting, sophisticated lavender presented with ultra high-quality Tom Ford fabulosity.

Ferra_Verto

This is sharp! like a blade that's been cleaned in lemon anesthetic, then covered with VERY earthy and VERY fresh lavender. Super metallic and astringent, almost like bespoke hand sanitizer, if that makes sense. This would be great on a cold weather day. Very nice.

Singerfox

It's lavender and it's extreme... for about 5 minutes. Afterwards it's a lovely tonka scent that lasts a good 8+ hours, and a muted powdery lavender. Really enjoy this scent, especially after a shower and right before bed, just wish the intial blast of lavender lasted longer.

cpellegrino

Strong bright lavender opening (due to the bergamot) but quickly settles into a soft lavender. I get what some people are saying about play-doh vibes, but I think it is lovely overall. I don't think there's anything really "extreme" about it except its bottle which is beautiful. This is definitely the best lavender scent I've ever tried. Smooth, soft, not over-powering or old-lady smelling. Just a really beautiful flower with some sweetness to it. I'm guessing its vanilla or tonka bean. I can see there being violet in this (or at least some other sweet floral).

What do you get with Lavender Extreme? A refined Oud Vanille by Alexander J. I stumbled upon this discovery today while sampling LE. I own OV so the comparison hit me like a ton of bricks. Honestly, if you want to save some dough reach for the OV. Your pockets will thank you.

I purchased a decant of Lavender Extreme. Personally I like it because it smells good and the longevity on my skin is 10+ hours. I wore it to work and honestly nothing those evil witches said or did bothered me. I won't buy a full bottle because the price is not right, but I will replenish with another decant. Hopefully it will become available in a travel spray like some of his other fragrances.

lavender_wind.

Two words: Just. Beautiful.

The lavender takes center stage. Compared to my other all natural, organic lavender perfumes, this one is MUCH MORE long-lasting, likely due to the fact Tom used 3 different types of lavender scents, including the absolue, which stays on the skin longer, and the fact this expensive EDP probably has much higher concentrations of the essential oils.

In addition to beautiful, layered, long-lasting lavender notes, this perfume also has a fresh citrus (I smell more lemon than bergamot), a little languid geranium, and a cozy, sexy lower note of tonka bean.

Will done! Refreshing, comforting and classy. Will purchase the full bottle for myself.

ps. This one reminds me of Creed Royal Scottish Lavender, except this Lavender Extreme has less amber and smells prettier and more feminine in my opinion.

e.j.crooks

Now this might just be me, but this scent reminded me of a slightly dusty lavender bag warmed up on a radiator, giving off the musty scent of ageing dried lavender. I actually quite like that as a smell; however, I’m not sure I want to smell like an ageing lavender bag myself (at least not quite yet, though given my penchant for rose perfumes, some may consider that an apt appellation). It’s a safe and comforting smell, but resolutely unexciting to me as a perfume (and nothing about it suggests “extreme”). Performance was reasonable overall: sillage average; more than 12 hours on clothes, less on skin.

Not your old lady Lavander.
This is something else.
AMAZING.
The bottle is sleek and shiny too!

This is Caron Un Pour Homme on steroids! That’s all , it’s good 👍

paulieegee

This is a more beautiful and mature version of Dark Temptation/chocolate axe. If you have ever smelled it, it’s like 90% similar. The masculinity is toned down a bit to make it unisex, but a man can wear this definitely. More manly than beautiful - well done.

Creativity/Uniqueness: 8/10
Personal Taste: 9.5/10
Longevity: 7.5/10

A solid 8/10 for the man or woman.

Such a compfort scent ! Warm , soft cloud of fluffy vanilla tonka . Dusty , fluffy cloud of soft realistic lavender. A step up from Caron , more wearable than taste of heaven and sweeter and more gourmand than jersey. To me it’s the best one out of the ones mentioned but I like them all. Big fan of lavender vanilla scents. I find them extremely compforting.
This one is so easy to wear , it is not as strong as some other Tom Fords.
Love all the notes , and thankful it isn’t to masculine.
In love with the powdery drydown and airy sweetness with soft herbal feel. Almost feels like there is a hint of coconut in here. Yummy !
Bottle is amazing !
Great casual perfume , even a good bed scent. In love !

Michelle12345678

Lavender but also soft vanilla once you get to the drydown. The cinnamon is a nice touch. I wouldn't buy it - I'm not crazy about either lavender or violet. But it's nice, interesting, not your typical lavender, and others seem to really enjoy it. I got two unsolicited compliments yesterday within a four-hour timespan when I wore it. One from my co-worker (RS) who remarked that it doesn't smell like lavender to her and one from a female stranger.

Very long-lasting. Lasts about 18 hours for me.

Thane

This opens pretty similar to Caron Pour un Homme, but after that I definitely prefer the Caron. This is a lot sweeter and smoother, probably due to the large amount of coumarin. The Caron is more aromatic/herbal, and has the sort of soft fuzziness of the musk. This is maybe a little bit more feminine. I can also smell the cinnamon, but not the geranium, violet, etc... Disclaimer: I am not super into coumarin and cinnamon, so if you like those more, maybe you would prefer this.

petros1963

Sweet marzipan with lavender aroma,perfect!

Tazahr

I wouldn't understand if some one bought this basic lavender scent for this price tag.

I am big fan of Tom Ford Fragrances generally but this is one is an unnecessary and ordinary overpriced fragrance. Very strange to be created and put in the upper tier of Tom Ford private lineup.

Even for lavender lovers, there are tons of better value alternatives.

matty64

This perfume was way over the top to my nose. It just overwhelms your sniffer and the price is way too much for what you get. A better smelling lavender is Creeds offering of Aberdeen Lavander.

Jicky 2.0

Lavender extréme is more subtle version of Guerlain’s Jicky. Both aromatic and fresh spicy perfume with prominent lavender notes, but Lavender Extréme being less citrusy and more unisex vibes.
(Used to love Jicky, but I don’t use it any more, but it’s a really lovely vintage gem.)
Just recently bought Lavender X and I like it. Very nice, plain and soft lavender perfume. Hefty pricetag.

Nearly nausea inducing lavender, not a comforting lavender. It is the most expensive lavender I’ve smelled, but that’s like saying “best of the worst,” as I find lavender notes in general to smell rather cheap—like. Lavender Extreme is no exception. It’s nearly on room-spray levels of nearly overwhelming lavender and general unremarkable quality. It’s not very complex until it finally dries down. Then it’s almost like a fougere, very clean and nearly soapy. It’s sophisticated at this point. I’d buy it for the dry down, but it would have to be cheaper than I could ever get it for.

As someone who owns more high-end fragrances than I care to admit, the price tag on this is far too high for what it is. There are so many better fragrances at the exact same price, most notably Tom Ford Lost Cherry, my personal all/time favorite.

Edit: I sampled it a few more times and like it better. I was just having an off night to have found it so off-putting. Prices seem to be going down, so I imagine I’ll eventually get it.

Vegas Pauli

I'm all about bitter fresh scents that have zero sweetness, but this one is a bit harsh. Extreme Lavender this is, sharp and in your face about it. Im not big on lavender; if I go into barbershop territory I'll take a neroli instead. In spite of this, I like the fact its a little metallic and a little weird. There is a creamy menthol feel under the citrus and lavender but lavender is what this is all about. This is a brisk fresh scent, so I see this as a workplace scent but one has to want to stand out in the office to wear this. Soapy, metallic, sharp and fresh, not really my style but I do enjoy wearing this.
EDIT: the dry down is a soft sweet tonka as the lavender all but disappears. Kind of reminiscent of F**king Fabulous in the final stages.

GabbieSmithWindley

This is friggin fantastic. I am quite impressed at how it's evolved over the course of the past 11 hours, yet still hasn't gone into "powder" territory. It's a smart mix of comforting and sophisticated. The double-dose of tonka bean lifts the lavender up and allows it to be the star. This is soooo much better than those ice-cream shop lavender perfumes that fragrance marketing keeps pushing down our throats as unique and innovative. Stop it, just stop it! The projection on this one is moderate, but the longevity is quite good, as I can still smell it overpowering a recent test spray of another Tom Ford private blend. Works best in mild 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit.

dylan1760

Received 10ml sample of this. This one is a really nice soft fragrance. It's definitely not very strong on my skin but I will constantly put the back of my hand up to my nose while wearing this. Being a Tom Ford fragrance it's hard for me to decide if it's worth the price though. I haven't had many lavender scents so I will definitely go out and sample some more.

felipebizarria.1

Lavender, almonds and a little cinnamon. The fragrance opens with a huge blast of Provencal Lavender, then comes the almond and a little cinnamon. Right here, there's a Poo Dough feeling. Then comes a little ionona (violet) to add some dustiness and a hint of geranium. It's not an ordinary fragrance, TF is still working with Tonka after Fucking Fabulous and Lost Cherry. Lavender Extreme is comfortable and weird. And it's a new take on Lavender, after Caron Pour Homme, Jersey and others. I'd prefer less audacity and better ingredients, but that's Tom Ford and it's an american fragrance.

kwanpekyee.1

The most beautiful lavender perfumes I have experienced were

1. Gris clair by Serge Lutens
2. Yardley's English Lavender
3. Jo Malone's Amber & Lavender

This one by Tom Ford reminded me of floor cleaner with a lavender scent...

mshilov

Bright sunny lavender to wake you up or serene moonlight lavender to calm you down? This is both. Very natural, giving the sense of presence somewhere in Provence during lavender harvest season, enveloping and comforting. Becoming smoother and softer with time for wellbeing and pleasure. It's not outstanding as a perfume but well blended and not annoying, like some lavender fragrances can be. It's perfectly smooth, worth trying!

dcjimr

This truly reminds me of one of those deodorant cakes that you put in a urinal. Cheap-smelling and harsh.

ksawaison

Of course it’s Lavender there ! But in my nose, it’s very dense of Tonka/Vanilla and something dry feeling (violet, iris?). It’s remind me of Dior Homme Intense in the first 5 mins then dry down into powdery Lavender. Very smooth, refine and seductive. Not much outstanding, but unique enough for Tom Ford Private Blend ;)

Zizonia

What an odd creation. It is like two different perfumes stuffed in one bottle. First starts as classical lavender cologne after that the cologne is replaced by sweet tonka bean perfume (name one from the department store). The two phases are absolutely incompatible and it looks desperate - trying not to miss something from the sugar wave in perfumery.

HungarianGenius

i was generously given a free sample of Lavender Extreme and didn't bother smelling it for days, lavender isn't exactly something that gets me excited, particularly not (what i though was) a lavender soliflore. i knew absolutely nothing about this fragrance, it had not been on my radar at all. i didn't know about the massive price tag, the fact it was only just released, the hype/hate, nothing.

last night i was going through my samples and got around to this one. it opens as i expected it might, photorealistic Lavender essential oil. Pleasant but not inspiring. After 10 minutes it begins evolving from the singlular Lavender explosion, i came back to it an hour later and was utterly blown away at the Beauty of what i was smelling. Full disclosure this was on paper and not skin, but wow!

not sure i will buy a bottle yet, need more wears, but this is one of the reasons why im into perfumery, the thrill of discovering absolute delight and beauty in the most unexpected places.

beavisbonce

Let me put it this way. I think people reading the word extreme are expecting LOUD and RELENTLESS however in this case it stands for extremely well blended and extremely well sourced ingredients. I’ve worn it all day and it’s given me a nice soft bubble of calmness and wellbeing. A few lavender fragrances I have can be too fatiguing on the nose to the point of annoyance. The joy of this one is that it comes and goes sweetly and wafts up to remind you the price is reflected in the creativity. I’m getting nods to lutens incense lavande and etat libre antiheros and a few screaming lavender based staples like Caron and le male obviously but without the hammering in the face I AM LAVENDER which can be tiring. This is......I’m the feint purple on your sleepy pillow to remind you of the best comforting dream you wish you could revisit in the morning.

August 2019: I would have to agree with many of the reviewers here, the price point of this LE and others in its class is outrageous! The concept of the fragrance and its opening are indeed incredible! However, it faded too quickly, and does not have longevity. I have several TF fragrances and love them including black orchid, velvet orchid, noir noir, tobacco vanille, soleil Blanc, Neroli. Was seriously considering this lavender to share with hubby. But it just does not have staying power for the price. Disappointed.

Nessers

I love it. It's a sweet, vanilla-like lavender. Not balsamic in my opinion. I'd say try before you buy.

BOBBEAR

A disappointing release by TF.........not worth the price of admission. On all levels not a real lavender presence..its soft and balsamic but doesnt give a true lavender flower picture...Way over priced for what you get. Since TF fragrances was SOLD to Estee Lauder..its all down hill from here..in fact TF has sold its Beauty(makeup etc) line to E.L....quality is going down. Lets see what the next few releases bring.

Marco Chau

Blind bought this 10 days ago and just received it this morning. First impression of it on skin reminded me of Guerlain Jicky Extract with less citrus and more spicy. As the scent settled, the Lemon note faded away very quickly as the warm spicy tone of Cinnamon started to join in with the rich aromatic Lavender and powdery Violet Leaf. The scent further developed to become slightly sweet with Tonka and added fresh spicy Geranium and subtle Rose notes to create a sort of spicy warm powdery floral heart. At that point the Lavender scent smelled sophisticated and totally different from most other Lavender based fragrances I have ever tried. It has a somewhat ambery vibe in the background. The dry down is slightly balsamic with a temple incense musky tone to it. So far I love it a lot although it might be more suitable for the slightly cooler months.

Nick1992

Despite an utterly brilliant flash of photorealistic lavender in its opening minutes, Tom Ford’s Lavender Extrême isn’t much of a lavender fragrance. What it is, is a beautiful study in tonka.

Past the short-lived geranium nuanced lavender opening, Lavender Extrême’s development sees tonka’s sweet, vanilla-like coumarin character slowly morph into something warmer, more sensuous as cinnamon smoulders against the now almondy tonka bean. Utterly beautiful.

Personally, I feel the name does the fragrance a disservice; it’s going to put off those that don’t like lavender and will draw criticism from those that do for the brevity of its eponymous note.

Absolutely unisex, the violets and sweet treatment of coumarin keep this from veering too far into aromatic or fougère territory.

I've been getting 8 hours wear from this, with decent sillage that has garnered quite a few compliments.

Wearing both Tom Ford Lavender Extreme & Molinard Lavande now to compare side by side, & here's my $.02: These really are remarkably similar fragrances - AFTER the opening...

TF Lavender Extreme opens with a mega-dose of explosive, sweet, luscious Lavender, wonderfully blended with Lemon, Violet, Tonka Bean & Coumarin. On first impression, it's a stunner. It's sweet enough that I've had friends mistake it for coconut, & totally understood them getting that impression. While I'm no expert, they've clearly pulled off some nice use of aromachemicals to get such a "bursting" effect to the top notes. This is the one & only thing that makes LE noteworthy. Unfortunately, this lasts only 10-15 minutes. It's a blissful open that you want to last forever, but it's gone before you blink. The in-your-face Lavender quickly fades & the LE settles into a slightly more vanilla-tinged version of Lavande. It's truly excellent at first, but the decision to add this to the $320/$815 product range is a joke (as is that price point in general). Had it been priced at the "normal" prices, & made available in the 100ml size as well, I might have bought a bottle. But sadly It reminds me of TF Azure Lime: Amazing! ...For 15 minutes.

Molinard Lavande's opening is very similar, yet distinctly different. Rather than the almost gourmand Lavender of LE, this is a sharper Lavender spiced with Clary Sage & a bit of underlying Patchouli in its base. The presence of the Clary Sage is the big difference in the opening; It's a much more medicinal/herbal vibe. Lavande is far more linear, so you don't get the disappointment of LE's rich Lavender disappearing so quickly. 30 minutes in, they are nearly identical. The spice of Lavande & the sweetness of LE both tone down to a lighter vanilla-floral scent with their bases of Coumarin & Tonka Bean.

If LE could keep its magic going for a few hours, we'd have no competition here. Given the (10x!) price difference, Lavande is quite solid, & I'd say it's actually the slightly more interesting of the 2 in the dry down. Yes, LE's opening is amazing & I definitely wanted a bottle on first sniff, but if you've got Lavande 20 minutes later either way, it doesn't make sense to pay the TF premium, even if it was at the normal prices. Will have to try the Caron Pour Un Homme soon to see if it can come closer to pulling off LE's opening vibe. (In fairness to Molinard, that's not what they set out to do, & this is quite nice!)

Edit: And now, I see there's "Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Intense" on the way, & you guessed it, it's another $320/50ml bottle. Give me a break. I love Tom Ford & own MANY of his scents... At ***$330/$840*** (NEW higher pricing! smh!) they're just adding another "hard pass" to the line in my book. The regular prices are bad enough; the higher tier is just plain stupid... Enough to skip over Tom Ford on principle alone.

Houdini4

I like it. However, there's nothing inspiring about it whatsoever and it's about as dynamic as some blueprints for a trouser press.
The lavender has the same lovely, quality in the opening as Lavender Palm a fragrance I realise this is not the 'Extreme' version of but it's the closest old Tom release so...it basically is.
I don't like Lavender Palm incidentally but I kinda have more respect for it that this. LP was a waxy floral heart, awfully lactonic, fatty even and with a salty, seaweed accord giving loads of dynamics to the lavender. This is a kinda sweet coumarin and vanilla haze, and does have a minor almond quality alluding to Soleil blanc and Fuckin' Fab!

He's basically made another fougere (to join the raft of them they just released) but minus some of the elements that give a fougere interest, woody accords, greeness and oakmoss or patchouli whatever? I'm not going to be too hard on Lavender extreme because it smells lovely and the creamy base looms larger and sweeter than something like Caron Homme, which is the same combination just with a more subdued vanilla.

Some people have questioned the quality levels of TF's recent releases and I'm sure the 'Extreme' label puts some people off. However, The 'Extremes' have gotten off to a good start for me, The Oud Wood one is much better than the original Oud Wood in my humble opinion but this one has nothing extreme about it. Even though I didn't like Lavender Palm, I respected it and an extreme of that which was truly even more hardcore, would've maybe been welcomed by fans of the original. Instead we get this, slightly lacking effort. I like the shiny bottle though, so there's that.

trillav

Honestly, this smells just like crushed lavender. You went in your garden, crushed some lavender then smeared it on your skin. Yes, very realistic, but honestly you're better off buying lavender essential oil, I kid you not it is the exact same scent. Don't believe me? Go smell it! Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to pull the wool over your eyes...this is a blatant rip off lol...I 100% agree with a few of the other posters who have said the same thing.

oobunillaoo

gosh this was not at all what i had hoped it might be. three of us tried this over the weekend and it pulled the same on each of us individually. maybe it was the tester? there were some nice fresher herbaceous moments peppered in among what i can only describe as almond-vanillic plastic tempered with merely the suggestion of woods of indiscriminate origin. without trying to sound rude this felt very much like it was having a bit of an identity crisis. two men and one woman all felt this moved rather clunky and when it dried down to baseline it was quite far removed from anything that initially drew us to the fragrance. it didn't project massively so i imagine if this works for you it's a nice cosy skin scent that seems to have rather decent longevity.

perhaps my experiences with Luten's Gris Clair have shaped my perception. i may test again; my male fragrance cohorts scrubbed it off as soon as they got home.

genvy

Yeah, not considering the price at all, this is trash. Lavender, lemon, soft bland floral aromachems and a barely-there tonka. None of the ingredients smell of a good quality. The overall effect is cheap. I expected much better.

Martin.91

This is the type of fragrance you definitely need to try on your skin. Yes in the beginning its a burst of sharp lavender but after like 20-30 minutes on the skin it develops into a creamy vanilla (i can smell a little bit of coconut too) powdery heaven with just a hint of lavender. For me its a big like. Also its Very long lasting.

cafeyleche

I am in love with this fragrance and I have to say that it may be my favorite Tom Ford private blend. There is something familiar about it that reminds me of TF, but it is also very unique. I am all about the dry down. The opening is fresh lavender and the dry down reminds me of labdanum lavender and a little warm. I love it on my skin.

DR521

Lavender powder. It starts with a true lavender and then transforms via a slightly coconut vanilla into a classic powder fragrance of the Villoresi Teint de Neige style but instead of rose there is lavender and vanilla. The projection warmer and softer and more vanillic than what you smell directly on the skin which has a drier cooler powdery tone. Anchored by Tonka and maybe peru balsam. Gets a little familiar towards the end. Classy and smooth, complex, somewhat linear.

jayssen

The bottle is stunning - but that's about it. You get a blast of lavender that quickly hides behind a sweet base of tonka, and that's where it stays for the life of the fragrance. I don't have a lavender based fragrance in my collection, so was quite excited to try this, but in all honesty, I cannot justify spending this sort of money on something that is just so ordinary. I could literally buy some lavender essential oil for $10 and mix it with some vanilla or benzoin (or if I'm feeling generous, an $80 bottle of tonka bean) and get the same result.

Perfumes in this price range need to either be made with expensive, rare ingredients, or be exquisitely blended to justify the price. Lavender Extreme feels like a lazy addition to Tom's range.

Andy the Frenchy

In-your-face lavender sweetened by tonka. Very nicely done, in my top 5 of Tom Ford.
That said, it's similar to Serge Lutens Gris Clair, and imo Lutens does it better for a small fraction of the price.

This is starting to remind me of a more natural ingredient smelling Dior Homme instead of iris but with lavender obviously.

FeelingRisky

I just received my sample - I like it!
Soft, sweet Lavender! Nothing loud or exciting to be honest - but a lovely Lavender/Tonka/Vanilla bomb.
It's got moderate to good sillage and projection - the fragrance is not at all evolutionary, it is rather linear.
I love the way this plays with other fragrances as well - I used it with blood concept O the other day and Magic Happened! I think anything with suede/Leather would smell lovely with this!

Am I smelling the same fragrances as everyone else? This has Lavender, yes, but this has a huge sweet fruity top note, pineapple I think. To me, the opening smells like a lavender infused pineapple upside-down cake. After a few minutes the sweet, fruity note starts to fade and the lavender becomes more pronounced, but this is no where near the dry, bitter lavender found in Kilian's Taste of Heaven or Caron's Pour Homme. It is a modern take on lavender, and if anything, more like a twist on Ralph Lauren's Polo Sport with the pineapple/lavender blend. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy. Pineapple isn't listed, but I definately smell a sweet, fruity top note - not lemon and not tonka bean, unless somehow the combination of lemon and tonka create some kind of dessert/cake smell. It's better than expected, but still not a fan of Tom Ford/Estee Lauder so I will not pay the price.

AndySmellsGreat

I love Tom Ford perfumes however (many will take offence I’m sure) I always have found his perfumes a case of mass marketing hype. I always take caution to sample his latest releases before purchase.

Unlike his contempories for the price e.g Xerjoff, Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 and say Parfum De Marly - I find TF to usually last half as long and project at a fraction. I blind buy these and I am rarely disappointed. Unfortunately for them though TFs specialty is great at creating a straight forward “as promoted” scent regardless of its price/performance.

I love lavender. I have tried many and other than L’occitane there just aren’t many quality build scents out there (feel free to educate me - maybe I have missed some).

I received a number of samples finally. Third bottle in and I’m very impressed.

A natural bright lavender bodied out a bit with some tonka (the tonka is mostly prominent nose to skin) and slightly darkened with some cinnamon. The other notes are purely complimentary to add to the body. I didn’t get the same as some below where the tonka starts overriding until today so maybe there is a subtle variation dependant on the chemistry/heat?

Despite being classed as a male scent it definitely works for women. Business or casual, cold or hot climate.

Despite the fact it is an anosomic scent and whilst suffering the usual TF performance v price I am getting a fairly linear scent a few hours in and good wafts as I work.

Next to TF TV this is probably the better in performance compared to Lost Cherry, Plum Japonaise and Mandarino Di Amalfi that I also own and much better than Fucking Fabulous and Beau De Jour at least in linearity and longevity.

Looks like I’m up for a bottle...

pablOSO

Pour un homme de Caron in an expensive bottle.

ditch this one and get the Caron.

Overdue to sample this latest Tom Ford release, Lavender Extreme. The eponymous note is obvious from the start, though the other part of the name is puzzling, as nothing feel especially “Extreme” or even “Intense” about it. That said, it’s a nice semi-sweet, semi-powdery lavender blend that feels easy to wear from the onset, and I’m a fan.

The note listing is fascinating: lavender, lemon, violet, rose, geranium, cinnamon, and tonka. Primarily a floral bouquet but nonetheless with sweet, spicy, powdery, and citrus influences. It feels balanced and complete.

Like others, I do get a bit of the “Play-Doh” vibe, particularly at the opening when it’s going through some changes, but by the dry down, I don’t get much of this at all. Interestingly enough, I’ve had other non-fragheads tell me that they get the same Play-Doh feeling from Dior Mitzah. It’s not particularly a problem for me in either case.

Performance is decent on my skin but not on the higher end, roughly somewhere in the range of the last two provocative releases of Lost Cherry and Fucking Fabulous, the latter giving slightly better performance on my skin than the former.

Overall, I’m instantly a fan of the scent itself, but as with most Tom Ford offerings, price is a major issue. Lavender Extreme is in the higher echelon of Tom Ford pricing, at $320 for 50ml or $815 for the 250ml flacon (I don’t yet see a 100ml size for sale online), so it’s a very tough sell at retail pricing unless you positively love it.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Lavender Playdough.

Fragrant Freddy

An homage to the lavender powerhouses of yesteryear--and when I say yesteryear, I mean yester-, yester-, yesteryear because I get strong Caron Pour un Homme de Caron (1934) vibes. I guess that happens when you place lavender over a sweet base; comparisons to the great ones begin (very nice whoever mentioned Gris Clair, I get the comparison).

However, as Tom Ford so often does, a modern spin is added to a formula that has seen better days. Lavender Extreme works as a lavender aimed at a more mainstream crowd, the counter to Ford's revamped lavender/rosemary/severely herbal fougere that is Beau de Jour. Whereas BdJ springs to green jaunts and foresty forays, LE leans back and saunters sleekly down to flavor town to kick it with tonka and cinnamon.

Tommy must be on a tonka bean kick lately what with Lost Cherry and F****** Fabulous. And people are buying! Yet, Lavender Extreme seems to be a bit harder to love, or perhaps just a little more nuanced. A magnificent play-doh note appears in the middle of this fragrance after the EXTREME blast of lavender (2 types of lavender I was told by my trusty sales rep). The scratch of herbal lavender paired with the doughy sweet of tonka evokes this playful hint at younger days, but it veers toward a dry-down that actually boasts a complexity I wasn't expecting. The cinnamon is obvious, but I also totally get the violet mentioned in the note listing -- subtle, but present. It adds a certain flavor that may pique a more...stuck-up nose.

Interestingly, another striking comparison comes to mind -- one that may take more flak than necessary -- and one, I must stress, that is based more on feel than on smell. Lavender Extreme, to me, is Versace Eros all grown up. Both exist on the skin as if they own the room around them, yet LE comes off as more refined and, well, less club/more 401k. Now, I thoroughly enjoy me some Eros with its sweet, sour, robust tonka experience. But, in comparison to Ford's upscaled, spicy, flavorful and much more expensive creation, Eros remains tightly packed in its cubbyhole, listening to club banger after club banger, while LE prances about from gala to gala. LE may not be that safe office scent, but it boasts an ability to be utilized in different scenarios. But hey, wear what you want, when you want!

In a nutshell: LAVENDER BOMB transitions to play-doh transitions to sweet, spicy, what-the-heck-it's-actually-good base. Fabulous bottle, too.

Sailor Pluto

This smells gorgeous! It actually reminds me of CK Obsession for women but with less smoke and less spice.

LaLuNaveed

It opens with beautiful lavender, like pure lavender essential oil. That itself made me want to have it. Softness and warmth of Tonka bean joins within a few minutes. Lavender takes a step back but not too far. With time the fragrance looses its herbal vibe and turns into soft, cozy, slightly spicy goodness but it keeps its lavender calming effect. I don't see this being worn on special occasions, dates, it's not a black dress fragrance. It's more "take the day away" kind of scent. I can see myself spraying this all over after a stressful day or when I just want to lift my mood and relax. I love it!

ameagari

In between a smoother versace dreamer and a less smoky/resinous gris clair. Has a creamy, sandalwood/spiced wood quality (likely some synthetics) which really compliment the clean (but dense) lavender well. Doesn't go to burning wood like gris clair, and is a bit warmer and less cold than dreamer. Beautiful lavender but not worth the price. That said, if you are willing to dish it out for the perfect neutral lavender, this might be worth trying. As for me...I'll keep wearing my dreamer ;)

Nessers

In my opinion, this is an exceptional fragrance. I'm not really sure what other people were thinking in regards to saying this was not good. If you are not a lavender fan, then obviously you should not pick up a fragrance called lavender extreme. It's really common sense! Obviously it opens up with a hint of lavender which is exactly what I was looking for. It is a sweet vanilla lavender, with the other notes being more of an supporting character. Definitely leans more feminine, but I can imagine a really attractive man wearing this and him almost being irresistible. The longevity is not as long as Noir de Noir or vanille, but it lasts long enough to consider the price has value. It really is unique in that I've never really smelled another fragrance like it. It still has that expensive feeling from typical Tom Ford fragrances. I purchased mine at full price the moment after I smelled it for the first time at Nordstrom. It really hit me hard and I couldn't resist. I would undoubtedly recommend this fragrance to friends and have a sample ready for anyone.

It opens with a blast of intense lavender which reminded me of grandmas potpourri. The lavender remains throughout the duration but thankfully fades and softens when tonka bean steps in. Rounded up, IMO, this is a feminine scent, lavender, violet and tonka bean with the typical Tom Ford style of intensity. Too harsh for me.

@Eamon, give me a break!

I hope you've never eaten Dole bananas. Dole, who was owned by a man, who's brother was responsible for destroying many South American economies for US economic gain, through the CIA.

These companies are all dirty...

If you like Tom Ford, buy it for Tom Ford.

This is the best lavender fragrance i’ve ever smelled and performs so damn impressively on skin and develops so beautifully as well. Screw the Tom Ford haters, i’m beginning to think that the hate is all due to the prices. I’m sorry but some things are luxury items and have luxury prices to match their beauty and quality and exclusivity. Lavender Extreme doesn’t really give off any gender vibes, it just smells really damn expensive and stylish. Those who have it will cherish it. I can see this being worn year round by either sex, and the scent mimics the bottle color and sheen. Try it out for yourself, this is an easy love for me

Starts off strong bright sharp Lavender metallic like the bottle then dries down to a powdery lavender violet Tonka & has kinda like a very expensive lotion/sunscreen vibe. Really like it a lot. Perfectly unisex perfect for spring!

April 2019 Got a sample at Neimans. When is lavender not in style? Initial spray, lovely lavender for man or women. Husband loves lavender and has an extremely stressful corporate job. Thought I would gift this to him and sneak in some aromatherapy to boot. Maybe this will calm him throughout his day as he wears it. Very quickly after initial spray, the burst of lavender quiets down. Thats good. Corporate America does not appreciate blasts of fragrance wherever you go. But, coming in for a greeting handshake, sitting side by side in a board meeting or on the plane, this would make the statement you want. Its classy and subtle. I could even scent his tie or my scarf with it, giving it a bit more presence and for a longer time. Scent would be appropriate all year, day and night. Business casual to formal and afterwards... to bed. (wink, wink) I agree these Tom Fords are very overpriced, but I can appreciate not smelling like everyone else because the price point is not reasonable for the masses.

This perfume explodes with Lavender, but in about 5 minutes dries down to almond or maybe Tonka bean. Then it evens out to an average, light, sort of powdery perfume that lasts moderately long I love Prada Iris - if you like to collect bottles, buy this one. If you like to collect perfume you will use, don't.

@spcmiller I had the exact same experience. Tested a lab sample at Nordstrom today and agree with everything you said about the scent.

I'll just make an input about the earthiness of this. It smells like white mushrooms straight out of the grocery store before you wash them. If eat an uncooked button mushrooms, you get an earthy taste and smell, which is the most noticeable scent in Lavender Extreme.

Oh my. This smells like heaven to me. Even my teen daughters, who do not like fragrances, said it was really good. It seemed to stay close to skin after initial 15-20 min. Progection is very low. Longevity is 8 hours.
I definitely love this beauty.

Puts me in the mind of Taste of Heaven by Kilian.

My rep at Nordstrom had a lab sample of this one so I was able to try it before just about everyone...except maybe Tom himself. It's very lavender-y, but isn't of the essential oil variety. It initially smells very authentic and earthy, and lasts for a really long time...it really does perform as an EDP. I am sitting here ~9 hours later and I can still smell it on my hand. It's a skin scent at this point, but it's still detectable.

The sad part is that after ~30 minutes, this becomes something that smells closest to Play-Doh: that doughy, sickly, quasi-chemically aromatic smell. Quite honestly, it made me sick to my stomach and I am glad I didn't spray more than one quick shot on my hand. My son fared no better.

For me it was a hard pass. Based off of just the bottle I am certain it will attract admirers, but at $320/50 mls, it's gonna be a hard sell.

Very disappointing.

The bottle looks gorgeous and expensive! Excited for this one.
