For those of you who dare to be different AND smell divine while doing it,
then pair Ouverture with Memo's Inverness. YW!

A warm spicy scent. I get more spices than anything else. It does not smell green to me at all, maybe a little woody. Definitely very sweet and warm, I don't get orange, maybe a touch of citrus in the beginning but not orange specifically. I just sense that its sweetness is toned down a bit in the beginning and balanced by something more sour, this has to be the citrus, but it disappears quickly. A little bit of incense, especially in the dry down. I like incense but I can't say that I truly love how this smells in the dry down because I still get more spices than anything else, also a touch of smokiness, however Ouverture has an airy quality to it, it's not too heavy, dark, difficult to wear. I think this lightness (compared to other perfumes with these type of notes) is what makes it appeal to a lot of people.
Unisex, nothing masculine about it. Nothing specifically feminine either but a bit too sweet maybe for some men. From the description and reviews about it being woody and green I thought it would pull very masculine, it definitely doesn't.
I like it but I don't love it.
Also, I don't get the comparisons to Gris Charnel. I'd say I prefer that one, and it's better in terms of longevity and projection.

MrMrBrian

I’ve already reviewed this, But surprisingly today a second coworker of mine ask me what fragrance was I wearing & when I was finally able to figure out how to spell this because my predictive text wasn’t helping, He found it discounted I believe on eBay & bought it in well under three minutes of finding out what this was..This was the second time one of my friends who didn’t know much about fragrances wanted me to help them find & purchase whatever that is lol…Yes it’s that good!

Zara109

Reading other reviews, I think this perfume is a big hit or miss depending on your own chemistry. On me it smells very sweet, very creamy, very smoky, very woody, with a hint of green. I’m smelling sweet peach and orange preserved in the finest smelling brandy, with a fire burning nearby, cashmere sweater on, and through this a breeze of fresh cut grass and green tea. It smells exceedingly cozy but at the same time sophisticated. It has a regal quality about it but it’s not distanced or unfiendly. It’s one of the most interesting blends I’ve ever smelled. However, it’s definitely not a scent everyone will enjoy. And it can’t be a blind buy - you do have to test it as it will really smell different on everyone.

Cguals

Forget all comparisons to Gris Charnel. These are not the same. I would place them in a similar grouping, but you will not get the same effect or experience. And once I removed that expectation, I was able to appreciate Ouverture for what it is. In fact, if I had to make a strong comparison I would say that this fragrance reminds me of Zara's Ebony Wood.

Ouverture is green, spicy and woody. There is a bit of zest off the nose that you get from the orange and fig leaf but then it really settles into cinnamon for me and is grounded by amber. On me, I don't get a lot of sweetness and definitely no creaminess. but that's the interesting part about how fragrances interact differently based on our individual body chemistry. I think this would be a wonderful choice for fall or winter. I most likely won't purchase a full bottle because this isn't my usual vibe, and I own Ebony Wood, but certainly full bottle worthy if this is your jam.

FragBoy Stewie

This one's a strong like from me. It's a wonderful green, slightly spicy, woody scent that's great for Spring/Fall time. It sits close to the skin but has a 12+hr longevity. Wouldn't put this in my Top 10 Xerjoffs but it still earns a place on my shelf for those cozy occasions.

tijanarm

The opening of Ouverture smells like apricot jam to me. It’s a love. The drydown is less unique (albeit still beautiful), but the opening is just so stunning and unique!

atapia11

great niche fragrance. definitely smells like nothing youve smelled before. its sweet, rich, cinamonny. the fig leaf from the entrance is great and well blended. lasts forever on the skin and the drydown has a creamy sandalwood that is a dream

KT4267

A gorgeous, warm, sexy fragrance sadly contained in Xerjoff’s notoriously inconsistent and oft-leaking bottles.

CrisMS

One of my favorites from Xerjoff, I got a backup bottle. Unusual notes combination, very unique, still very wearable. Tropical, but not too tropical. Creamy, with a bit of spice, yet has some freshness. Wore this in Italian summer and OMG. The trail is so addictive. I don't even know how to describe this, it's not reminiscing any of the perfumes from the "reminds me of" section.
Just because it has a bit of fig and sandalwood, has nothing to do with Gris Charnel or any others listed. It's unique in it own. I feel a lot of Xerjoffs are experimental, but wearable.
I will always have this in my collection.

MrMrBrian

I was really Impresed when I first layed eyes on the soft black bottle! I have a few fig leaf scents and that’s what this is. I like them when they’re sweet but not cloying. I also own Gris Charnel Extrait and I couldn’t like one or the other any better. Awesome atomizer’s on each one! Both houses made an excellent blend out of Primarily fig leaf! Both to me are similar enough to be redundant as far as owning both. But not knowing enough & blind buying Gris Charnel Extrait recently I ended up with em both and glad!

Pickledrose

I have made a blind purchase of the "Overture" by Xerjoff, but I bought a ticket back to my childhood.. a cosy warm room with a beautiful snowy fairy-tail view to the garden trough a huge window.. my great great aunt knitting a wool-cashmere jumper with her mechanical knitting machine.. there is a crystal bowl vase on a table with some oranges in it.. a smell of a freshly baked vanilla cinnamon bun is coming from the kitchen.. A few minutes later I spray some more of this to my hair, on my cashmere coat and my cashmere jumper, as I was going out to do some last minute Christmas shopping. But now the smell has taken me to a completely different location: I am in a fancy overcrowded bar where I sip "Malibu" and coke (I usually go for a G&T)!! I am sure, there is a smidge of spiced rum with some creamy coconut hidden in the "Overture"?!

It is a big "yes" from me to this lovely warm fragrance: I adore its comforting properties with a hint of luxury. A very unique formulation, that I struggle to compare/contrast to any other fragrances I had ever owned. Absolutely timeless and in no way offensive nor provocative. Sexy? Maybe.. Well done Chris Maurice!

Maailman Katselija

Based solely on the olfactory impression, I like this perfume. It is a like, not a love. It ticks all the boxes I need in a fragrance: longevity, projection, a nice mix of notes. However, once my sample is over, I will not go for a full bottle, for an emotional reason: its drydown becomes very similar to Very Irresistible L'Intense by Givenchy on my skin. That perfume was offered to me as a gift by my ex-husband, years ago, so I really don't need that in my life now.

Majosm

My favourite from the house of Xerjoff. This is the type of fragrance that will leave everyone wondering who's wearing it. The scent trail that this gives will have your back broken. It gives sexy, confident, put together and elegant. This Is one of the few fragrances in my collection that truly classifies as a man eater fragrance. It's so different and complex. Almost borderline gourmand, but still tropical and airy which makes this a stunning all around fragrance. I went to Albania on vacation an brought this with me. This does REALLY well in the high heat. My man almost eat me up every time I put this fragrance on. You have the opportunity to really stand out wearing this because of how underrated it it. 10/10 without a doubt!!

Sltv

This reminds me so much of Rituals room scent ”fig leaf”

BGBG

I like the opening: strong on the fig leaf and the cashmere wood ( I also smell some patchouli / iso-e super like in molecule 01 + patchouli) .
But i don’t like the sweet, ambery, spicy dry down which is too feminine for me.

marietangerine

Something about this turns my stomach. It is interesting for sure, but the ambery/warm spicy X sweet green notes just don't vibe for me. I can appreciate the craft, but as someone who is a chronic oversprayer, it has taken me 3 days of wear to get halfway through 2ml.

Longevity is pretty good tho.

Sandalwood Dressed in Royal Purple...

This 2019 Amber-Floral by Chris Maurice opens with a citrus-y burst of fruity-floral accented by a green fig-leaf note. After the bottle is aged, however, the fig-leaf note is barely noticeable for me, whereas it was quite prominent initially. As it transitions to the heart, there's a blend of florals that reads like plum-pomegranate, built from ylang, a grape-leaning jasmine & orange, accented with cinnamon, and already the sandalwood is swelling through. The plum-y bouquet has a tartness to it that verges on being too tart, but sandalwood is the star of the show here, with dry & buttery-creamy nuances, and is done in an oriental style that reminds me of compositions by Yann Vasnier including Plum Japonais Tom Ford, Santal Blush Tom Ford and Adam Levine for Women. I also catch distant reminders of Samsara Guerlain, but this is more plum-y. This has amazing performance and a swoon-worthy drydown. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Hi! I have a full bottle 100ml of this gorgeous perfume! I am shipping from Athens, Greece, please send me a message if you are interested ! I am looking for exchange as well! Thank you

Lipsticksuzie

To me, it’s like the brief for this fragrance was; A tropical, summer’s evening scent, but make it rich and luxurious smelling.
Honestly I don’t want to sound crass but this smells like money lol. It’s absolutely divine!
It’s clear from the reviews that everyone is getting something different from this one. I see many people see this as more autumn/winter and I understand why, this is a very rich scent indeed -pun not intended. It’s got a very soft incensey note from start to finish which folk will probably associate with fall/winter scents.
But there’s something just so exotic and tropical about this scent. It’s fruity but not in a juicy or tart way, more like fruit peel and leaves, like smelling a fruit bowl as opposed to open/chopped fruit. Yet having said that it’s not a green leafy scent either. This is one of the hardest fragrances to describe, so definitely sample this one. If it’s of interest to anyone I’d say this is unisex but possibly leaning on the feminine side.
If I was to use 3 words to describe this scent: opulent, unique, expensive.

Tembacat

This smells more sharp and woody to me. The fig leaf is the only note that really stands out in my opinion, but it's quite dry. This does seem to be one of those fragrances where everyone gets something totally different out of it. For me it's dry, dull, a tiny bit smoky even. This one is not for me.

Nessers

August 13, 2023. I finally finished the sample of Ouveture today. I can't say wholeheartedly enough how much I love this fragrance. The fig definitely comes through. The essence of the plant is everywhere but in a very fresh and refreshing way. I am not trying to say this is a fresh and refreshing composition. It is not. But I will say that the freshness highlights the velvet richness and luscious texture that is erupting from the core of this erotic fragrance. That is how this makes me feel. It is devious. Is sexy in a very adult way. This is something you wear when you wake up from a wet dream and you have to get ready for the date the following evening. It lures in and devours. Devours with a sense of hope. This is the scent when your eyes roll back.

timmybils

I really like this it's sweet and flowery with some incense, but it fades pretty fast, even with 6-7 sprays. It's really nice, but turns to a skin scent pretty fast.

rangela71

Reading the reviews I thought this was a very controversial scent. Some says it’s a masterpiece, other says this is like a pine tree freshener. But as I want to step out of my comfort zone, I decided to blind buy this one. What a bravery, as I am a gourmand lover, and when I wanted to play safe, I always wore some vanille-amber-tad animalic scent.
Never ever had I any citrusy-green perfumes. And this isn’t one either. I thought I was going to hate the top notes, but it’s not the case. As the name suggest it, the most remarkable part of this scent is the opening. Straight out of the bottle this is a MASTERPIECE, although it’s constantly changes on you, but somehow manages to always smell divine in every phase. The name of this one should be Quiet Luxury. This is not your jeans and flip-flop scent. You have to be elegant, well behaved, cultured to wear this. Androginous outfits, shirt dresses, high quality jewellery, perfect grooming.
It’s not intrusive, not loud. But it screams luxury.
On my skin the top notes are beautifully harmonious, almost no cinnamon, no loud ylang, but a nice rose.
Somehow I detect a slight sweet tobacco-ish note. Maybe the incense with some of the other notes.
The dry down is a wonderful, comforting, woody-musky creamy heaven.
This is quality perfumery. 100% unisex.
Now. It is true, that you have to macerate your new perfume (shake well, than let it rest for a couple of weeks), all of my perfumes work this way, always changing with time, the initial scent becomes more harmonious after 1-2 months. So, I think, if you don’t quite like this at first, you could give it a try a couple weeks later.

Gaz4

Perfectly unisex. When first sprayed, I get strawberry jam...no doubt about it...no idea how, but sweet and lovely. That does subside in about ten minutes, then it is a woody, creamy, slight cinnamon, fig mikk and an indescribably addictive scent...totally unique to my nose, and yet, weirdly familiar. Weirdest (in a good way) fragrance I've ever put my nose to in quite awhile. This has an old school feel with modern twist...more like a Casamorati release. I've been into, and own a bunch, but have never really smelled anything like this. Three season banger, though I do not agree with the "tropical" or "coconut" facets. If anyone knows what this smells like, and not other fragrances (but in the real world), please let me know. Blind by worthy for frag heads.

Falls flat in the far drydown...but movement/body heat reactivate it. BANGER

If Miss Dior Le Parfum and Armani Privé Oud Royal had a baby, this would be it. Strong, full of character, blended to perfection! I am sold!

toosimilar

it's really good:)
not super strong, however
to me it's mostly about the scent of dried fruits with a slight hint of the alcohol
but it's no way sugary or too sweet
I would say the scent is like many others of the same warm amber direction, but sounds quite unique
I really enjoyed this scent!

dsmercoco

To my nose the opening is kinda sharp and cedar-y is where I go to immediately. It doesn't stay like that for long, maybe 10- 15 mins. Then it changes on my skin and it starts to remind me of FdB Oud Jaune Intense & Oud Orange Intense with a dollop of cinnamon. But Oh wow, the drydown is where it's at! It's creamy, mildly sweet. Sweet fruity incense like in Oud Jaune Intense and powdery orange like in Oud Orange Intense (this is not a dead ringer for both of those scents, more like 1st cousins) I might be crazy but I swear that's what I smell. This does not dissappear. Longevity is crazy long sillage is beastly the first 2 hours then pulls in to a 3ft scent bubble.
Addendum: I've had this for about a month now, I still kinda associate the above but not exactly feeling rhat so much anymore. Jury is still out. Let it macerate some more.

Joani_Cheddar

This is a nice woody fragrance; it does have a little sharpness (fig leaf) but as the hours pass the dry down does enhance with vanilla and then it is time for bed. I like the fragrance; I do not love it. This is not a crowd pleaser. I do not see the Gris comparison & certainly NOT my baby Sao Paulo Carven Paris (how dare you, lol). Woody, initially sharp then refined. I HIGHLY recommend trying b4 buying. THIS IS LIKE A STANDUP COMEDIAN THAT MIXED UP HIS PUNCH LINES BUT MOST OF HIS AUDIENCE STILL LAUGHS BECAUSE OVERALL HE’S HILARIOUS.

Update in the heat/humidity this tends to smell a little fruity then on a normal 60 degree day. I know ..strange. And from a like to almost dating - i put this fragrance on nightly to see how i feel - it continues to change, just like my feelings.

VonPanzer

A lot of reviews here goes to it being feminine smelling. To me it's not. It's completely unisex to my nose. I would say for example Initio Side Effect, to my nose at least, leans more feminine than this. Even though both obviously are unisex.

The opening gives me like a tropical feel. I feel the fig leaf together with the Ylang Ylang gives it a bit of a Mango-ish smell. Mixed with vanilla and amber.

sevde.kasa

For obvious reasons, I have been decanting the perfumes that I wanted to buy 🤓 Ouverture was also one of the beauties that I gave a chance to with its notes. Fig leaf, orange, magnolia, cinnamon, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, sandalwood, vanilla, cashmere wood, amber, incense. There is too much going on 😅 First of all, can we look at the beauty of each of the notes and take a minute of silence? 🤣 As I use it, I discovered that you feel every note as a whole from time to time. That's why it seemed so versatile and deep to me. The notes I feel the most are sandalwood and ylang ylang at the opening (it was very mature when I first tried it because of this opening), fig, vanilla and amber as long as it stays on the skin. (My hubby said "it smells like incense" without knowing that there is incense in it. So incense is felt clearly 🙈) The figs here are used so balanced that it prevents the perfume from being terribly sweet. There is a slight green feeling, but if you don't like green perfumes, believe me, it's not enough to scare you because I don't like green scented perfumes 🙅🏻♀️The fig here balances the sweetness of the perfume and makes it suitable for summer use, I think. It is a perfume that can be used in all seasons, but if you do not like citrus, lemon or soapy perfumes in summer, it can be used with pleasure in summer. Yes I said a summer perfume, but i don't mean as a sunscreen type of scent like Bronze Goddess. The summery feel here comes from ylang ylang and figs, with a slightly tropical vibe. I don't use perfume at all in very hot weather, but why not when the wind is blowing on cool summer evenings or on a boat trip 💨☀️🌴

PwnageEngage

Best blind buy ever.

Definitely unisex, leaning feminine. That said, if you like the "cassanova" vibes you get in Mancera Intense Cafe, you'll get that same feeling here. Again, talking about the vibe / personality of the fragrance, not saying they smell the same.

Although the opening is a sweet, fruity strawberry / pomegranate with slightly powdery touches - this thing is a Pokemon. It evolves every 30 minutes or so on my skin, eventually leading to a sweet cappuccino with too much milk in it type scent. Too much milk if it was to be drunk, but as a fragrance the drydown is spectacular. The quality is here; aside from the sweet opening, you never get a disjointed, synthetic mess feeling. It's all very well blended and the notes here smell photo realistic in some cases.

Becomes a skin scent after 4-5 hours maybe, but off my skin it's like the fragrance intertwines with my DNA and i get this "clean skin" accord that you'll find in ATH fragrances. Lactonic. My skin smells like a cappuccino for the next 24 hours, basically.

10/10 it's honestly incredible

Joel2883

I blind bought this fragrance since I have around 15 xerjoffs and love and like all of them. This one opens up pretty strong and sweet but after 2 hrs that's when the magic happens, very nice and long lasting fragrance. I give this fragrance a solid 7/10 It's suitable for fall and winter. I feel it can be cloying in warm and hot weather definitely for colder weather

cherry99

It smells like caramelized tropical fruits, too sweet for me..when we smell the smell, i just get a super sugary smell it's never a man's scent it's just too sweet it's just nauseating

Squishyy

I definitely pick up fig, woods, and a bit of citrus mixed with cinnamon that comes off mildy incensey on my skin. The comparison to Gris Charnel must be taken with a grain of salt. It’s there, but only if you’re looking for it. This one leans much further Oriental and woody. You may like one or the other, but it isn’t guaranteed you’ll like both. It’s a fairly introverted fragrance, that is not mass-appealing but is difficult to hate. It’s kinda just meh.

Ouverture is solid, but there’s no *wow* factor. I can think of about 100 fragrances I’d reach for first. Though I could also think of 100 that I’d prefer this over.

allumez

Simply amazing! I sprayed it on a scarf, on the run, looking for a present. I got the present, went to the party and kept smelling the beautiful scent on my scarf. I could not remember what it was, I thought it was Wardasina and almost blind bought it :))) it was Ouverture. A very pleasant and wearable fig leaf, barely there. It’s the creaminess, borderline masculine woody vibe that just doesn’t stop, it wraps you and cuddles you. Quite expensive though.

queensizefun

The cinnamon orange is so beautiful and warming. Its like the best of all the warming spice herbal teas with a slice of dried orange peel. It smells entirely different to me now that it's cold. I could barely smell this when I bought it in the spring and was so disappointed. I sprayed it for a bedtime scent tonight after it has sat for 8 months. WOW

Afrikano

@lmnsvgz I’m gonna have to give this another wearing later then because Gris Charnel is a fragrance I’ve been wanting to sample for a long time. And if these have similarities then I’m gonna take my time with this scent

EDIT: Yeah I still don’t like this at all. It’s too confusing of a smell, all the notes are a cacophonic mess. I’d only wear this in the cold, which it is where I’m at, but I still don’t like it even in this weather. Sold my bottle. Also finally got to sample Gris Charnel today (1/6/23) and to me they smell nothing alike. Ouverture is dense and too confusing while Gris Charnel is lighter, airy and a lot more smooth. I’ll definitely be buying this later in the year since I sold off Ouverture.

lmnsvgz

The drydown is extremely similar to Gris Charnel (BDK). Both have this creamy, earthy sweetness that is light and luxurious. The scent itself - I find it quite light, it's not one of the obnoxious and loud Xerjoff fragrances. Technically it's supposed to be a green, woody fragrance, but the Fig Leaf is blended well with the cinnamon and vanilla-sandalwood base. It is extremely likeable. Unisex but leans feminine.

Afrikano

Got this recently and have been wearing it over and over to figure out the scent but I genuinely don’t know how I feel about it. I don’t think it’s a bad scent but idk if I think it’s a good one either. I saw reviews of it and looked at the notes which all seemed promising but I honestly can’t tell what at all I’m smelling. It’s like the notes are there but instead of blending them carefully they just threw them in a jar, shook it up and said here’s the fragrance. It’s just a confusing smell because I can’t identify anything which causes the scent to come off to me as some type of fruit jam/preserves. With maybe a dash of cinnamon on top. Which in theory doesn’t sound bad but…I don’t want to smell like fruit jam. Maybe it’ll grow on me but this has become my most expensive and worst blind buy so far.

orangelips11

To me Ouvertrue is smell like orange candy mix with cinnamon and sandawood, a hint of spicy in the background, the candy scent is very sweet and likeable, performance is very good, insane projection, maximum 6 sprays is enough.

Oh man this is incredible quality juice. Best blind buy I've made in a long time. So much going on here I couldn't describe this if I tried. The amber & fig combination is to die for. And I'm not a fan of fig! HEAVENLY XERJOFF FRAGRANCE AT ITS FINEST! Longevity and performance is 2nd to none! GET THIS

Elle's Bells

I need everybody to stop right now and pay homage to this beauty that just landed at my front door.... OUVERTURE!!!
This is the Xerjoff that I wished for. A fragrance that would turn me upside-down AND inside-out. I've been testing this beauty for quite some time and finally decided it was FB worthy. Ouverture is so beautiful. On my skin, it opens with a burst of juicy fruits...I'm getting fig and green apple and I LOVE IT! I have tested this in warm and cool weather. It performs amazingly well in cooler temps and I will most certainly be wearing all year round with no hesitation.

***** EDITTTTTTTT!

I was so wrong about this fragrance! I just deleted my previous review completely!

I’ve now had this fragrance for two weeks. It’s had a minute to sit… I wore it the other day… I live in Canada and it’s been chilly but last week we had a heat wave. I was running errands wearing this gem & OMG THAT DRY DOWN!!! I was mesmerized!

THIS is a summer fragrance and a summer fragrance only! Wearing it in the colder months does not do it justice & please don’t make your judgment before the dry down that’s where she shines!

Def leaning feminine!

Magnolia, Amber, spices, strawberry and caramel…reminds me of La Capitale, but it’s not as fruity. It’s interesting but not my cuppa.

If Habdan by PDM marries Amber Desire by CH, they will give birth Overture by xerjoff 😁😂

green. hollow/empty/musky and also dirty/gritty

Ouverture is such a unique fragrance!

It is a melange of fruits, florals, spices, and woods. This is a beast mode scent that will last and project all day long. Definitely not for the faint of heart or “girly girls”. If you want to get noticed and turn heads, then try this.

It is powerful, tropical, and unlike anything I have ever smelled before. Absolutely stunning!

This fragrance starts dark, with cinnamon, smoke and amber and dries down to a sweet tropical/forest fruit cocktail. It is extremely refined and high quality, very interesting and very unique. I love it. Lasting power is awesome.

Salinas99luis

Smells far better than most of the hyped fragrances. Great candied orange with cinnamon, some fig on the opening and sandalwood.

Nikkicousinp

Love the tropical vibes!

Vannamae__

One of the few fragrances with fig in it that I actually like. Usually I’m not a big fan of that note but I do enjoy it a lot in this composition. Most Xerjoffs perform pretty well for me but this one not so much. I definitely have to overspray it but I find it very sexy to wear in the summer heat. I get the plum in it for sure, smells delicious and the sandalwood in here is the lovely creamy kind, not the pencil shaving kind thankfully. I’ve had it for over a year now and I think it performs it’s best in warmer weather. Sillage is noticeable for the first few hours then becomes closer to the skin. Only complaint I have is that I wish it lasted longer, I want it to be a beast!

VioletIrisRose

Really liking this more that I thought I would. It's not really feminine or masculine. The fig and the deep woods and incense are unusual. The musk and cashmeran really keeps this going on my skin. One spray was enough for arm-length sillage. It's a scent that inspires thoughts and hopes. It even inspires the want and need to travel. This scent might work at a concert, or a long walk.

anfesema

It is both a fresh and a warm fragrance, I especially like the opening, I wish it lasted longer. On my skin is not long wearing and the base notes are almost lost. I also spray it a lot more than othe xerjoff fragrances.

CDDior

Simply devine. Stuning fragrance! First time I tried it on a blotter and wasn't impressed. On skin - it's a whole different story. Diverse. Cosy. Intelligent. My colleagues say it plays in at least three dimensions. So, you won't be bored as this fragrance opens up. Appropriate for cooler weather or summer night out. Longevity and sillage are great.

Shawn330

Absolutely stunning long lasting beachy fig. Sandalwood in this is my favorite so creamy and smooth. The ylang ylang and cashmeran combo is beautiful and masterfully blended the hint of cinnamon takes this to a beautiful oriental fragrance for me

Mira J

Lovely Sandalwood and fig leaf combination. Cinnamon is in the background for me. Easily unisex. The Sandalwood dries down creamy and not pencil shaving-ish, which I love. The fig comes off as a sweet/green unripe Plum to my nose. This layered with Michael Kors Midnight Shimmer or Vanilla 28 is absolutely addicting.

Lolapoop

I can smell pinapple and coconut .
Neither of which is listed in the pyramide notes.
I love it!
It's a houte couture -so to speak creation and I can understand why not everyone will enjoy it.
Monster sillage to the poin when even my caffe has a sub taste of it while drinking.

My first impression was wow you have to be some woman to pull this off!
Way too masculine in my opinion
I imagine a middle age c.e.o wearing this with a smart suit & driving the latest AMG Mercedes.
Sexy, successful, Confident men smell like this.

This is a masculine frag for me
Warm like a heated liquor, i smell very distinctively fig, amber and bulgarian rose.

I would love to smell it on a man that hugs me and im dipped in his neck! Very well blended and elegant.

Definitely a man’s choice for all day winter ♥️

OTA Mom

This does not immediately scream fig leaf to me as apparently it does others. I get red delicious apple and ylang with a dusting of cinnamon.

Nicyoung

I love this fragrance in the bottle but when I spray it on my skin it doesn’t turn out as creamy as I hope it’s more tangy… I think this is a fragrance that goes better on clothes than skin… It’s really fun sort of reminds me of decadence… It’s a happy fragrance but it does smell like “perfume “it’s not a natural smell but it’s well blended into a magic fragrance… All the notes dance together and create their own new note they all become one end to me they equal happy

A_Ferrera

This makes me what to cry 😭

It brings me back to a time during my childhood in my hometown when my younger brother and I would explore the parklands where around autumn time it would rain during golden hour, water dripping down the gumtrees soaking the trunks thus bringing out its true colours of deep shades green and red, the calming serenity of hearing droplets falling from the leaves and onto the damp soil which is covered in foliage, and the chirping of birds flying from their perches for one last feed before the light fades and the sun goes down.

This puts an involuntary smile on my face as it brings me back to a place that I can only exists in my memory which sounds sad but doesn't put me in a state of melancholy.

Projection wise it's moderate and the lasting power is subpar as it becomes a skin scent quite quickly on me, however I don't mind as I wear this when I'm home alone in my pyjamas 😅

This is hands down the best Sandalwood in perfume that I've ever smelled, it's creamy but not in an edible sense which I think is courtesy of the fig leaf, I do get the other notes however this is so well blended I can barely pick them apart, but with that being said it's definitely the best I've come across so far.

This leans more masculine to me and is definitely NOT a safe blind buy!!!

paholk

Amazing! this fragrance has so many phases. It is really an “opening” to a niche world for me. How can one fragrance be gourmand, woody, fruity, and floral all in one bottle? This one has that magic. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

mommymilkers

Cool is all I can say. It's delicious on my skin, like mangoes. I feel it would be better when the weather is hotter. I was so put off Xerjoff after smelling More than Words and Renaissance because it was so bad imo, but this just made me think a bit better of Xerjoff. This screams tropical and delicious, but I find after a while it becomes too cloying and gives me a bad headache.

FirstSense

I am blown away by this Xerjoff Ouverture with a heavenly floral top that’s joined by a lush Bulgarian rose in the later fase of the super intense opening. But that’s only the start. The heart of the fragrance is the most beautiful ylang-ylang I have ever smelled. And the base is going to an incredible gentle amber cashmere wood fase. This is a mesmerizing perfume. The flowers are when it has settled on skin mixed into the whole composition that is complex and enchanting. It’s definitely a feminine fragrance. But real beauty is genderless. I don’t get the cinnamon and the incense but it’s definitely a part of the spicy accents I suppose. The performance is enormous. I don’t like every Xerjoff fragrance but this ultra classy and artsy Italian perfume house is a league of it’s own. Ouverture proves this clearly.

DrRosie

Oh mine this is so beautiful! Blind buy for me and it was a success. I can’t wait to pull this beautiful baby and wear it.

Dramaloladiva

Ouverture by Xerjoff is wonderful during the cold months of the year. There is no question about this, it is a masterfully blended piece of art. It is a fruity, spicy, amber-y, woodsy, warm fragrance all in one. I cannot stress enough the fact that this is a seasonal fragrance. It is a heavy fragrance and because of that, I would not be able to wear it in Spring or Summer for fear of developing a headache and choking everyone around me as well...
There is a subtle sweetness in the back of this fragrance but it is definitely waaay back and restrained. It is mainly spicy-amber-woods and it lasts F O R E V E R on my skin: 20+ hours. On clothing, it’ll last for days and if sprayed on a coat, it’ll be there for weeks...
To me, this is warm, cozy and comforting with a touch of sexiness. I definitely think it is a scent that can be worn either by women or men but I would say it leans a smidge masculine. Just a smidge!
A true gem from Xerjoff and definitely an olfactory experience. I recommend sampling it first because this isn’t for the faint of heart. A few years ago, I would have not been able to appreciate it. But this is truly worth a try!!

SilverTheHedgehog

I got a sample of this in the mail after buying off of fragrancebuy's anniversary sale. I'm not going to lie. The opening reminded me so much of Jubilation XXV by Amouage; whereas, the drydown felt more like Carlisle by Patfums de Marley. Definitely would recommend judging by the first smell.

Chocolate93

Anyone would like to purchase 50 ml bottle with box and free Xerjoff 2ml sample comes with it (sprayed only 3) pumps to smell I have for sale on my Mercari name (High Fashion)--discounted of course and will take offers. I bought a couple of months ago and liked it upon spray but I open the bottle to smell cap and just don't love it. It is NOT for everyday wear. I am almost too shy to wear it lol. It's TOO CLASSY for me. If you are around millionaires all the time and high class individuals then yes...but otherwise this is an extravagant event scent and my life is pretty boring at the moment. I also do not like the fig in this, the fig mixed with the wood makes it smell slightly rotten. BUT THE DRYDOWN IS BEAST!

AK2

I love feminine fragrances and in general I gravitate towards floral, sweet, light and in some cases fruity however I took a risk and blindly purchased this one and what a huge disappointment this is to me.. First of all this is not feminine or leaning feminine, secondly it has to have some oud in it or at least something gives a moldy rotten wood vibe. In the opening is very fruity green amd in the dry down it starts to morph in a cross between oud satin mood and Les Absolus d'Orient Oud Essentiel by Guerlain. I don’t detect any sweetness at least not on the skin. I would definitely recommend to sample this one first especially if you are like me who doesn’t care much for unisex scents.
Edit: I sprayed it on the clothes and it smells exactly like a pine tree freshener and it stayed pretty liniar the whole time. Needless to say I do not recommend it.

Trendkill97

This is a masterpiece of a fragrance. Potent, opulent, rich. Beautiful Amber-Vanilla scent with a tinge of smokiness and warmth from cashmeran, so well blended, the ylang ylang with the soft rose and pleasant smelling jasmine enveloping the green milky tartness of the fig leaf and the orange is just stellar, giving it a slight fruity vibe in the opening. Complex and puts a smile on my face. Overall this one screams class, Highly recommended.

Overall 10/10

Emmasweetman

Wow! This one is incredible. And it was a blind buy for me based on Demi Rawlings reviews. Definitely my new favourite fragrance. At first sniff I love the sweet plum scent but then on my arm it suddenly turns into a very dark fig/woody smell and I’m not a big fan, I was so disappointed at first cause I thought that’s how it would smell, which is kind of like wet leaves or wood after a big rain storm to me. But after a few minutes the mid and base notes start to emerge and oh my goodness!! the amber vanilla and florals in this are beautiful. Smells powdery and creamy on the dry down. My mum walked past me and said “something smells so nice” and it definitely does! So glad I worked with this fragrance because it’s my new favourite. The sillage is more beautiful than the fragrance up close in my opinion, something about it floating through the air does something to the notes and smells incredible 😍

Adiam

This is a tropical, floral-fig dream. Now, I see that there are some reviews that are divided in regards to the season suitability of this fragrance. However, I firmly believe that Ouverture performs best during spring/summer late afternoons and nights. Warmth makes this come alive, pushing the fig forward which is uplifted by the tropical-esque florals with rose, which is then grounded with the spices and vanilla to create a creamy and luxurious scent.
It is quite reminiscent of tropical fig drinks found in the Caribbean, but the magnolia adds a sweet twist that becomes addictively comforting, soothing, and inviting. I've tried this on cooler days; it is still very nice, but not as impactful as it is during hotter seasons.
The only con for me is the color of the bottle; makes me think of cool seasons, and can potentially be ruined if any of the perfume (or other liquids) get onto it.

Ouverture is a winner from Xerjoff! 🏝

ptsau

I got a sample from my last order at Xerjoff website. Thought I would love it based on the notes breakdown but I’m only OK with it. Like others said, the dry down is much better but I just can’t stand the opening. I love vanilla, tonka bean or resinous kind of sweet but I dislike fruity kind of sweet. Slight fruity is fine but this opening is super fruity sweet like super sweet artificial canned fruit. It makes the opening very feminine. The dry down is more unisex tho. It does smell very nice when it comes to the base but it would take many hours since Xerjoff performance is always amazing. Would take about 5-6 hours dry down pass the mid notes and comes to the base. Love the ambery sandalwood vanilla base but I couldn’t accept the opening and only so so at the mid, which takes too long. I don’t hate it but also don’t love it. Won’t be purchasing a bottle.

h10011z

In the first 10 minutes, I get fig leaf and orange—quite green and slightly bitter, with a little bit of incense in the background. After the top notes settle down a bit, it becomes sweeter and more fruity/floral and the jasmine becomes more prominent. The dry down is creamy, woody, a little floral with a little fig I didn’t like this at first, but I’m glad I stuck with it! It gets much better in the dry down when the greenness/bitterness disappears. Not my favorite Xerjoff, but still good.

Moeytja

I was absolutely wowed by this and this is going to my top 5 scents of all time. This is the fig/fig leaf scent that i held out for years. Other fig leaf scents are too woody, too green. This is the fig leaf scent of my dreams. When ppl say this smells like coconut and milky, that definitely comes from the fig leaf combined w the sandalwood for the ultra creamy texture.

This scent is vanillic, creamy, green, sweet, coconutty... the greenness and milkyness of the fig leaf evoking the tropical vibe and some times a mango hint. No, its not a substitute for cruzz del sur ii. Different scents, maybe similar vibe. Tiziana terenzi Vele, ouverture and cruz del sur ii could be cousins. All different but same vibe and def not substitutes.
... Some phases or angles of this will smell more sandalwoody with the vanilla incense and “spicy”hint from the cinnamon. Some other angles kinda tropical. Front and center is the fig leaf with vanilla and sandalwood on each side.

Cozy as hek, yummy, spring, summer, fall. The greenness of the fig leaf to me doesn’t fit a winter scenario, but i certainly see cool, grey days, cloudy, overcast, stormy and rainy days for this scent. More casual vibes. Coffee, casual dinner, lunch, movies, shopping... cuddling. Maybe outdoor walk. 100% gourmandy scent. Epic Xerjoff quality.

Love love love! 10/10 for picky me!

Inésanja

I don't get any tropical vibes from this at all.
Opens very creamy and sweet, drys down to a spicy, incense and sandalwood scent.
It's a creamy, sandalwood scent.
100% unisex
Season: Autumn
Not a safe blind buy.

IAmStaka

Soooo creamy sweet. Infinitely creamy. All those tropical notes combined together remind me of a super expensive coconut milk drink i was having while I was living and working in Shanghai.
I'm getting a full a bottle for sure, but I predict I'll get 3% usage of it and my girlfriend will get the other 97%. Leans very feminine.

ghkim

This is a strange one for me because I was expecting something summery and tropical based on Demi Rawling's recommendation but this is not at all that. It also bears zero resemblance to Cruz Del Sur II (which is more summery and fruity). It opens with a slightly skanky soil with a green slightly sweet fig note for me and then after 30 minutes settles into an incense sandalwood cinnamon fall scent. There is a sharpness/freshness that keeps it from going completely winter/cozy, which might be from the magnolia and citrus, although I can not discern a clear citrus scent specifically. It is mildly soapy. After an hour, it is a mostly spicy woody scent, still with a note of green. It is not at all sexy to my nose. I'm on the fence about purchasing.

Edit: bought a bottle. I like this fragrance so much more now that I'm not trying to imagine it's a tropical scent. I love it for the figgy incense sandalwood that it is.

DarlingNikki

Like some other reviewers, I came here to check out the notes because Demi Rawling was going bananas over this one and as soon as I saw ylang-ylang (not to mention fig leaf and sandalwood) it was a whomp, whomp for me lol. Demi loves ylang-ylang and sandalwood, so I'm not surprised she raves about this, but I can't stomach ylang-ylang and sandalwood either smells like rotten wood (or moldy as Kots_Tanya accurately described it) or toasted coconut to me. I'm also finding out that fig of any kind makes me want to dry heave (it's horrific in the new Daisy Love Spring fragrance). Honestly, I would say Demi and I are polar opposites when it comes to fragrance but I like watching her videos because her accent relaxes me lol.

Nicyoung

@ Kots_Tanya if you decide to sell let me know! Or maybe we can trade or something. Im letting go of my Guerlain couquine, lost cherry, and some others. :)

Kots_Tanya

Purchased by Demi Rawling recommendation and by far this one was the most disappointing one. At the initial spray it smells like plums or some sour fruit gone bad, than that note goes slowly away and It reminds me so much of Wood Jasmin which I thought was weird since Demi did mentioned she disliked it in her video, but yet she likes this one. They are both woody, slightly boozy a bit floral (very little floral, but more than Bdk wood Jasmin, don’t get deceived by the listed notes.)Amber is quite noticeable as well. I would say Overture does lean more feminine than Wood Jasmin but still very much unisex. At the dry down it becomes more powdery but I can smell some moldy note( like moldy wood) it’s not too bad but I don’t think I’m going to reach for it, something in it like the other review mentioned, makes my stomach turn, seriously, don’t blind buy, it is not a blind buy safe unless you like the woody fragrance, like a wood soaked in liquor kind of a scent. Another fragrance that leans same direction is Baraonda by Nasomatto which I recently let go of too. Just to give an idea what kind of fragrance this is.
The Carolina Herrera Amber Desire is very similar too but much more wearable and more pleasant option.

I sprayed this on my hand and the sillage I get every time I move my hand is quite pretty and where I can smell more florals and Amber combined. If I put my nose closer to my hand I do get that moldy note still.

Nicyoung

I dont really know what this smells like!? Honestly it smells like the bottle looks, soft and fuzzy but little dark lol. I cant smell any notes but I can say its soft and fuzzy but not in an out of the shower way, more in a sultry way.. could be worn day or night but the tone of this frag is smooth fuzzzy creamy and round in an adult way. it is incredible and makes me want to cuddle up with myslef when I wear it .. I think its my fave of all time right now!~ My signature! I need more like this in my life!

_I.V_

Gorgeous!!!

True fig leaf in the opening (and throughout). I have fig trees in my backyard, and sometimes I like to crush fig leaves to enjoy their scent.

It is also about creamy, milky sandalwood and a dash of cinnamon. Sweet. Not too floral. I only get soft ylang-ylang, like a soft banana (?) smell.
Very well blended. Long lasing. Strong to moderate sillage. Sillage is not crazy and overwhelming like other fragrances from the velvet collection, but still amazing.

Similar fragrances... If Angel Eau Croisiere 2020 had creamy, milky sandalwood in the base. Also similar to Killian Adults, but sweeter. Ouverture is probably the best fig fragrance I have ever smelled. Fall, winter, spring. Can be layered with something fruity to make it brighter and more tropical for summer.

Tamsos valdove

I did not expect it to be so sweet (which I kinda love by the way). Those creamy/milky flowers definitely give the feeling of joy. Silage is moderate, though longetivity is great. I do not smell any amber here. For me it is only fig, white florals, ylang ylang and sandalwood which stand out.

KylieBooFace

The initial spray is a bit strong, but the real beauty here is the drydown. It smells similar to an Indian Sandalwood candle (in the best way), with some creamy, unburned incense, vanilla, and spice facets. There are a ton of notes, but the drydown is very comforting and smooth. I think it is Sandalwood prominent, but I am not an expert. Strong like for when I am in the mood.

ginandrice

I find the fig leaf in this really definitive. It’s this weird, murky-sour-sweet note that jumps out at me from every fragrance it’s in. It’s why I don’t care for Womanity, and why I’m ambivalent towards Le Labo's Thé Noir. It doesn’t matter if the note is fig or fig leaf; for me it’s the same murky-sour-sweet note, and it always seems to define the entire fragrance. Like spoiled skim milk and sweet plant sap.

If I’m generous, I can see the similarities between Overture and a big pile of autumn leaves: a mulchy nature smell. I’d have to be generous, though. The less generous summation is that the sweetness in Overture does nothing to counterbalance the murky-sour note, only clashes with it, and the whole thing becomes like the sour aftertaste of over-sweetened black tea.

Forever Neil

Creamy sandalwood from second 1 till it dissipates 8 hours later. Bright, mildly spicy (from the jasmine it seems) and balsamic. Projection is moderate. Enjoyable to wear. When you imagine florals, you imagine sweet flowers that may be cloying. The fig leaf does a great job of toning down the florals. Overall, very wearable, and a must if you like white florals, but a very natural smelling floral. Underrated Xerjoff. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Video review: Mr. Miami Cuddles on youtube. Thank you to Maurice Locke from OSME Perfumery for the generous sample. youtu.be/F6uND8AGUtw

Stevie Ngo

The opening is beautiful. The drydown with sweet/spicy amber is similar to Tom ford noir extreme.

cua_alvin_ross

Upon initial spray, you immediately get orange followed by the greens and florals, beautifully blended bright florals here that makes it wearable during summer and by both sexes. But this one is a fall fragrance and leans to semi formal occasions. After 40 minutes, the amber comes up to the front and is detectable. Not sharp enough to be cloying. It balances out the brightness and sweetness of the florals that makes this one a mature fragrance, 28 up. This is not a beast mode fragrance, projects within arms length. Full bottle worthy as most xerjoff fragrance is.

katrin.niisuke

Magnificent! So so creamy. It feels more like fig milk with jasmine rather than fig leaf. There is some citrus vibe coming and going but the best part is the cashmere and sandalwood combination. Simply wow! Great longevity and superb sillage for an entire day.

RUDOLFO512

Ouverture is a beautiful and creamy jasmine, sandalwood and cinnamon fragrance. I also detect some rose, magnolia and citrus. The beginning is a bit harsh but the dry down is absolutely comforting and delicious. Now and then I get a wiff of jasmine and citruses.

Ishvires

They are 1:1, new one as good as old one, nothing to worry about!

Jay67

I’ve tested this out three times now and it’s absolutely stunning! The magnolia & fig up top just bounce off the citrus, while the jasmine & rose in the heart work so amazingly with the spices & fuzzy aspect of the cashmere wood accord. In the base, it’s nice that the vanilla isn’t too sickly & cloying on the dry-down...... just the perfect balance for me that allows the resins & incense to project so cleanly.

I can’t lie though..... the bottle is kind of tacky with the flocked finish, reminiscent of Action Man/GI Joe hair, for those of us who remember that finish from the 70’s but the important thing is that the juice is top-notch & a 10/10 for me!

Blossom_Puff

@Zentocs yes they are reformulated! They were banned from using that synthetic oud they used to in the Sospiro line.Their fragrances are now way smoother and way prettier, not as nuclear as before. They lack that oudlike note.

Zentocs

Hi, the perfumes from Sospiro are they absolute the same in Xerjoff? Nothing reformulation???

dana22

Yes, this is the new presentation. It has been added to the Xerjoff portfolio.

greydove

Is this the same scent as Sospiro's Ouverture?
