Rose Absolue by Yves Rocher is a Floral fragrance for women. Rose Absolue was launched in 2006. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel. Top note is Cinnamon; middle note is Rose; base notes are Tonka Bean, Patchouli and Virginia Cedar.

This perfume was introduced in 2006, as the second in Secrets d’Essences collection.

It was designed by Christine Nagel. The top notes contain fresh and mildly spiced notes. The heart is an empire of rose, the beauty: Turkish, Bulgarian and Morroccan rose absolutely seduce and passionately dominate in this fragrance.

The base is darker and more mysterious with patchouli and a balmy embrace of warm and almond-like tonka notes.

The fragrance is available in concentrations of perfume water (50ml and 15ml for your purse) and perfume (30ml) + accompanying line.

I was driving to the country side, the rain had just stopped and the best moment for me personally is when the sky is both heavy ahead, but the sun is shining. My son and I both had our rain boots and rain coats, ready for mushroom hunt. I rolled down the windows to let in the smoke from the bonfires. I was wearing this perfume. The density of biting into dusted Turkish delight, rounded and soft. The smoke and the rose, decaying leaves and cinnamon. It's like an illusion of the memories I never had. Instantly transported into a feeling of a similar day I never had before. It was like a Proust's madeline but more like a fleeting moment and a feeling rather than a real memory. It's a dense but light perfume, there's no sharpness of citruses. The most realistic Turkish delight. I rarely get those transportative moments with perfumes and I was soaking it in, never expecting this perfume I bought many years ago for a cheap would create an entire story for the entire afternoon. And while walking in the forest I couldn't shake this feeling. Such a beautiful, simple scent. But just like the rest of the perfumes I utterly adore and that are discounted, I feel like I'm only borrowing those moments until they will be gone forever.

I just wanted to add a clarification on the name. I bought my bottle from the Yves Rocher USA website in 2008 (I keep all my old order confirmations), and both the receipt and the bottle I got say Rose Absolute, with a T. It seems most other people's bottles say Rose Absolue, written the French way, without a T. I don't know if Yves Rocher made some bottles say Absolute for the English-speaking market or what happened there, but if you find a bottle for sale with a T, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a fake.

I too am sorry they discontinued this one!

If wine could be made out of roses, then this would be its scent. I'm rediscovering my Rose Absolue and if it was brought out by a niche house today people would be falling all over themselves to get a bottle. And pay big money for it. This is such a beauty and I'm really happy I still have a backup bottle. Wine, liqueur, deep, full bodied rose are the key words.

Plush, jammy, gourmand but very realistic and natural smelling rose. Cinnamon is supporting here and adds depth. Could’ve easily been released today, rose is very trendy at the moment. Think Delina, Atomic Rose, Very Good Girl and Hibuscus Mahajadi. Those are all a bit fresher, while this is more like a rose desert.

This divine rose lasts all day with noticeable sillage, even towards the end. Absolutely adore it, high quality, and my favorite of the Secret d’Essences line, and possibly of all Yves Rocher fragrances. Yves Rocher does rose well, I love Cantate and Rose Ispahan (one of the most sought after vintage Yves Rochers), too. In general I think that Yves Rocher is criminally overlooked, they release amazing, natural smelling perfumes.

Le parfum version is richer and more syrupy but Rose Absolue edp is close enough to that. I no longer own the le parfum, only edp and I indulge myself with a spray or two whenever I crave a perfect rose gourmand. I smell lushest, red rose, marmalade and lots of cinnamon with a warm patchouli base. Rose Absolue also reminds me of turkish delight. This is as edible as a rose can get.

I've had a little splash of this for several years and every time I wear it I am SO conflicted. After a strange, medicinal opening this perfume begins a magical transformation.
On me, the rose in this is very natural, fresh, and even a bit dry, initially. Like one that's only just started to open, the petals are still tightly wrapped around themselves so you must deliberately press your nose inside to find it's fragrance. It's not the singing, dewy glory of a flower who's petals have spread themselves wide for pollination. It's still a little shy, a little young. Demure. BUT...on top of this is a dusting of spicy cinnamon, sweet and warm, with a slight powder feel. This modesty is temporary and short-lived because very suddenly the scent plunges into dark unctuousness, the cinnamon warmth begins to climb and the caramel-toned tonka stews that cinnamon rose into a deep floral syrup. Cedar cuts through and gives a sharp clarity to a scent that, at this point, has become dense and steamy wet, fogged like the mirror after a hot shower. The cedar here is like fresh air through an open window in that otherwise balmy room. Patchouli, added only subtly and with a delicate hand, compliments the cedar without overwhelming it.
The late stage of this perfume is simply a slow dissipation of that climactic burn, an extended extinguishing, like coals glowing smaller and smaller until they simply go dark.
Sounds amazing, so wherein lies the conflict? Well...this just isn't a fragrance I NEED to own. I only ever wear a few drops, I enjoy the scent journey, and then I go back to perfumes that are less dramatic, and easier to find. I hesitate to put my hands on one of the remaining available bottles, because I know I would only be doing so in order to hoard it. My little splash is more than enough. When I crave rose I add a touch of Perfumer's Workshop to something else I may be wearing, and in this way I can customize the rose to my mood. Rose Absolue IS a mood in itself.

Yessamin

Well, as usual I have been hoarding perfume samples for whatever reason and now I am trying to minimise my collection by using them all up. I have a wipe type perfume sample of this one and I have to say (having smelled the original in the bottle in store before) that I think it has turned. However, I smell spices on the first opening (it must be the cinnamon, but I couldn't pinpoint that it was it, smells very spicey. Then comes the rose but it is not the common rose you would expect ( by common I mean sweet sticky). And at the end , all I can smell is a woodsy undertone and patchuli, really strong patchouli.

GreenBasil

I had a bottle of this in my early 20s and did not really like it. I used it up as a sleep spray then.

In my mid 30s now and want to mention that Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose on the drydown matches this. I bought a few YR perfumes then including comme une evidence, but it cannot be that one, so it is definitely this one. The Elizabeth and James will be discontinued, but I bought one for $20 at Marshalls lately. If you like the Rose Absolute definitely check that one out.

grapefruit352

One of the worst perfumes with Rose I have ever had..Patchouli and something heavy is just overwhelming and dry Rose makes you suffocate. Unisex perfume somehow.

Pari88

This is the perfect jammy rose. It’s sweet and warm without being gourmand. Very feminine. It reminds me of Tumutle Christian Lacroix while Lacroix is more cosmetic and sensual, this is more playful and “edible”.
I wish they would bring this fragrance back or at least release a new version with the same scent profile. Lovely

kielo

I love this one. The perfume smells of real roses with spicy jammy goodness. I am really sad this has been discontinued. Should have bought back up bottles.

octobertragedy

This used to be my signature scent back in the days, before it was discontinued. I still have a small 10 ml bottle that I keep for memories. Smells like million rose petals. Very natural rose scent. One of the best I've ever tried. Nothing synthetic, nothing pungent.
Tonca bean is also present and little bit of patchouli making it seem syrupy to some.
Simple, elegant, feminine...Huge longevity and soft silage. I realize I talk about a "relic", because it became so hard to find...
For the rose lovers that are lucky enough to find it, go blindly for it because it is a gem. For those that are in search for another rose fragrance you might try YR's "Quelques notes d'amour", that has some similar notes.

Phantomias

Today I received a 5 ml partial of Rose Absolue. A blind buy based on the positive reviews, and because it's from Yves Rocher, a personal fave.
Alas, it disappoints. The rose opening is of a blossom gone off, there's a fermented quality to the scent. It reminds me of dried rose petals gone damp.
I don't get cinnamon or cedar, only the muskiness of patchouli.
This is a rare miss in a row of hits from YR. I will continue to try this out, maybe it'll grow on me.

miriamcarothers

New to Yves Rocher but very impressed with the quality. This reminds me a lot of Calligraphy Rose by Aramis but less heavy. Gorgeous perfume.

thechantal

Please PM me if zou would share a decant or sell your bottle.
Thanks

PricklyAndHot

Beautiful fragrance!

It's like vine.

Dark roses with cinnamon.

Mmm... Very natural and good.

Now La Fille de Berlin reminds me it, because these dark roses were earlier.

Shwets

One of the best rose fragrance i have smelt. The patchouli is delicate and blends in so well that i wouldnt have noticed.

It has this mysterious evening quality without being too dark. The sweetness is perfect and its a versatile rose almost as though it combines various cultures.

Just wish it was easily available and the projection was more.

Imadele

I compared the parfum to the eau de parfum and prefer the latter because it has more of the cinnamon note and is therefore more interesting and dynamic to me ..

SweetSoul

Gorgeous gorgeous rose rose rose (Turkish, Bulgarian and Moroccan!) so delicious, like a rich potent sweet wine/jam Heaven!!! Enhanced by the delicious tonka beans and patchouli - everything beautiful. Absolutely luscious!! Intoxicating!!!!

Such a tragedy that it's discontinued!!!

LadyPilot

Rose oh Rose, where art thou?
Ok, enough of agony, I can't help but ask - why are you discontinuing your most honorable fragrance Mr Son or Grandson of Mr Yves Rocher?
"Rose is a rose is a rose", a wise man said...
This perfume confirmed that with the highest rate of dignity. I never eventually bought it as it disappeared to soon.
What a shame!!!

gtabasso

mirrorghost was spot on! I loved this at first then downgraded it to a like or okay. The reason? Well, the top notes were a sweet, jammy green rose that was perfect, similar to Tauer or Lush then dried down to lovely middle notes that were a creamy rose floral with a bit of amber/vanilla that is smooth and rounded not harsh or sharp. Then it fell apart for me when it dried down to a very gourmand sweet, candy, soda scent.

mirrorghost

this starts off with a rich, red rose then the tonka soon comes in and it's like a sugary/gourmand rose. i think i get a hint of cinnamon but the patchouli and cedar are alluding me. it reminds me *a lot* of lush's rose jam, but it's not as potent, therefore as a perfume, i am enjoying this one more, rose jam perfume was just too strong on me (though i love the shower gel.)

plum

For me this smells like donuts marmalade. I personally hate donuts, especially with rose marmalade, but surprisingly - I love this perfume. It's one of the best perfumes with deep, smeet, dark, ideal rose. It's nothing like Stella, Chloe or newest Moment de Bonheur... There was also Rose Garden tea made by Twinnings and it has also been discontinued. It smelt just like Rose Absolue and wearing this fragrance while sitting and drinking Rose Garden Tea was like being in heaven!
And two years ago my husband planted two roses in our garden and one of them smells just like Rose Absolue too. So, wearing the perfume, drinking Rose Garden tea and sniffing roses in my garden meakes my perfect day:)

anis_karma

Never had so many compliments than wearing this, amazing!

Anyone looking a 99% full - 50ml bottle - im putting mine up for sale. interested parties can message me....

paneradfisk

A warm and soft spicy rose gourmand, like rose jam. The spices and warm vanilla like properties of tonka bean together with rose and sweet notes, this is the perfect balance between all things good.

Reminiscent of the even older Rose Ispahan, which is heavier and more boozy than Rose Absolue. I recommend this to everyone. Une Rose Vermeille has more of the zesty raspberry, Rose Jam by Lush is not, according to me, worth considering as it's too artificial smelling.

katyas

This scent doesn't hold up over time once open, unlike all other Yves Rocher fragrances I've experienced. I have been hoarding this bottle for several years because I mistakenly thought it was my last. While going through my stash the other day, I found I had more. The open bottle has gone brown and the scent is like super sugary candied roses, although given time it settles back down to something approximating the original scent.. I had previously gone through my bottles fast. If you have some, don't make the same mistake of hoarding; use it up.

miss_pearl

Bring it back please!

Planet_X

Gosh, how to describe the perfection?..It is in the top five roses that I've ever tried, but I tried over a hundred roses. Perfect representation of Nabokov's "Lolita" in this juice. Its a gourmand on level of yummyness, but if its a dessert - than its not an overly sweet one, it has its kicks and spicy surprises, yet it is very fluffy, with souffle-like consistence, you don't feel overfed, but just craving for more. Christine Nagel is a sorceseress, who does with notes tricks after the tricks.

xrayer

I am not a straight up rose lover but I can appreciate the beauty of this. Very realistic slightly sweet rose, it's the scent I can imagine you'd get if you crushed a handful of pale pink rose petals then added a dash of spice. Very feminine and soft, a beautifully done rose, almost as lovely as Lancome Une Mille Rose which I am still searching for!

Luminan

This Was absolutely their best perfume ever. I'm so SAD that I can't have it again!! Help me I really miss it. I loved this <3

woodlandwalk

I bought this (found on Ebay) because I quite liked Rose Ispahan but found it too sweet, so thought Rose Absolue might be just the thing.

I liked the idea of a quite sweet rose, something going slightly in the direction of gourmand, pretty and easy to wear and this turns out to be perfect!

Rose Absolue goes just far enough in the sweet direction without tipping into sickly or unsophisticated. On clothes it's quite intense, more spicy, on skin it becomes sweeter.

It has that easy-to-wear feel I was looking for, I normally like floral leathers, woody orientals or green florals, so I fancied a change - something less serious to herald the upcoming spring.

There's a lovely powdery cinnamon in this which reminds me of an Indian dessert, or Indian rose incense, though it's not an incensey perfume as such. Also a slight metallic tinge which actually saves it from being too spineless sweet or pretty

There's a gelatinous, sweet scent that's just verging on Turkish Delight but it's actually lighter in feel than that, a little bit like rose scented tea with a touch of cinammon.

To compare with other roses, it reminds me of the rose at the heart of La Fille de Berlin, but much lighter and more transparent. I'd wear LFdB in the evening or for a more formal event, whereas Rose Absolue feels more carefree and daytime.

Very nice - relaxed, cheerful, pretty.

Sillage and longevity moderate

I mourn over this beautiful bouquet of a fragrance. I got a 15ml bottle from Yves Rocher with an order (why do they discontinue great products? Why?)didn't try it for a few weeks. When finally did, I was overwhelmed by a lush, sweet rose tempered by gentle spice. It seemed to me almost a rose version of Miracle. I used up the bottle and when I went online to buy more, it was discontinued. My luck. If I would have known I would have bought as many as I could have afforded, as this would have been one of my top favorites. I every so often email Yves Rocher and plead that they bring it back.

mrs.haterseverywhereigo

beautiful, and i'm not a big fan of rose when it's too prominent in a perfume but this one is truely devine! very sophisticated, deep, complex scent.

KateAnette

@ Blue Wolf: I have a purse spray and a full bottle of Rose Absolue. I store them in their boxes, away from heat and light, and both have already turned light brown. It even says on the package " The colour of your perfume can change over time due to the natural raw materials it contains, including two rose absolutes, but this does not diminish its oldfactory quality". The color is more than likely to change, but the smell remains the same.

Aysu

I think Yves Rocher company has serious problems with following up the trends in perfume industry. All brands in the market are releasing "Rose" version of their regular perfumes (D&G/Rose The One, M. Kors/Gold Rose, Burberry Body Rose Gold, E.Armani Diamonds Rose... only to name a few) But Yves Rocher decided to discontinue the one of the best rose scent out there. The quality, complexity, combination of roses with cinnamon and sweet notes were just perfect, so unique and special like niche brand creation. If they bring it back, I am sure it would sell like crazy, at least more than before and of course more than some other boring rose waters.

Malene

Blue wolf: the Yves Rocher Rose Absolute will turn brown when exposted to sunlight - mine turned brown quite fast, but the quality of the scent is still impeccable. This is a quite common phenomenon.I know some of Chanels perfume products are sold inclosed with the information that the colour is likely to change without affecting the quality of the scent.

Blue wolf

I am interested in buying this scent, so I looked at what is available on E Bay. I noticed that there are bottles of 'Rose Absolute' on sale, and one bottle of pink 'Rose ABSOLUE'. Since the Absolutes available on E Bay are brown in color, my guess is that the Absolutes are fakes.
Can anyone clarify or confirm my suspicion? I can't pay the $129 they want for the Rose Absolue but I like to be well informed while I continue my search.
Thanks in advance for any help!

lairderien

Bought blind due to the notes. This is a great rose fragrance if you like jammy, sweet roses. I was expecting something a bit darker / spicier. Similar to Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud (which I love) but without the Oud note. Also similar to Rose Jam by Lush (which is just as hard to get hold of). Longevity is great - 10+ hrs.

Update: Similar to Aerin Lauder Evening Rose. Rose Absolue is sweeter / more jammy & both the sillage & longevity are far superior. Its also much more pocket friendly!

sweefa

Tonka and Rose are the two strong sisters in this scent who walk hand in hand and allow their admirers patch and cinnamon to walk five steps behind and throw powdered sugar at them. And that's lots of sugar we're talking about.
If you are in the mood for something loud, playful and feminine this is deeply satisfying. Nothing for the friends of shy and inoffensive scents.
I have also the "Le Parfum" concentration which is a dark red liquid, less sweet but still powdery (maybe even more) and reminds me of rose hip tea or some fruity dry red wine in the beginning before it turns into a strong powder rose with some sweetness and also a hint of cinnamon. It's as potent as the EDP but to me it's more mature and severe. Both have a big sillage and last the whole day (and longer) with almost no decrease. So be very careful with the dose.
I'm supplied with backup bottles and if you are not you should get some now, as long as you can still find all the concentrations (there is an EDT as well) for reasonable prices on ebay.
But listen Yves Rocher, to discontinue your best products is certainly not the way to gain customer loyalty.

Amarie121

Love this well-developed gourmand rose! You can still find it on EBay at times, but it is slowly disappearing... A good rose is so hard to find....and keep around!

DresdenDoll

Why in heaven's name has this been discontinued??
Rose Absolue is a fantastic, sweet rose scent. It opens very jammy, with a tiny pinch of cinnamon. As it settled, I couldn't quite figure out what that sweet, bitter powder scent was that I knew, until I finally realised that this smells exactly like real Turkish Delight. Thick, sweet, sticky rose, with a powdered jelly feeling to it. It's what I expected of Jo Malone's Rose Water & Vanilla, but that one was more saccharine and less accurate.
Rose Absolue is a real treat and it smells expensive and high quality. Unsurprised to discover the nose is Christine Nagel, I love her creations. I also like this better than Keiko Macheri's Loukhoum scents, I found Loukhoum eau Poudree again too sweet, whereas this one is perfect. Worth trying if you like those.
Good for all year except very warm weather I think, but to me this is a wonderful fall-winter fragrance. Great staying power and sillage. A real shame it's not readily available anymore, I hope they bring it back.

Marquisa

I don't understand why the beautiful aromas are removed from production if there is no decent replacement. Usually I don't like sweet perfume, but this really is very good.

MommyMaudlin

A potentially dumb question, but... Is Yves Rocher's Rose Absolue the same as its Rose Absolute? I see both for sale with nearly the same packaging.

ETA: Answered, thanks! :)

dinariok

This rose is "the rose in disguise". And I could describe this disguise in French word "miel", as English "honey" is too sweet for this scent)). Rose Absolue brought me back into my childhood, in the garden where small late-spring tulips used to grow. They smelled exactly like this. And I must admit if a perfume could recall any happy memories, so this perfume is worth to buy, to wear and to adore it.
Rose Absolue is definitely of that kind!

jht4060

Yves Rocher Rose Absolue (perhaps Rose Tonka or Rose Ambre would be a better name) is as much an Oriental as it is a Rose perfume. It flirts with becoming a sweet gourmand but never quite agrees to remove its rosy cloak. The top and middle are a lovely blend of rose and tonka, with light cinnamon and wood side notes and a plummy fruit that seems to come and go. For my nose, I know that it is blended to perfection because one time I smell and it seems rosy, the next time it seems more sweet ambery, the third time it is mildy spicy.

If, like me, you are not a fan of unadulterated rose but you love it as a note among others, this could be the rose that wins your heart. It is the only perfume with ROSE in its name that I love - I have an inkling that if I wear this now and again for a few months I might start to appreciate other rose perfumes more by olfactory association. Sadly, it appears to be discontinued but you can still find it here and there on-line at reasonable prices.

Later note - I have worn this now many times (I still love it) and sure enough it lured me into liking rose! I even increasingly like rose soliflores, though I refuse to wear them in public. Maybe if I spiked my hair and wore chains and leather I would have the cojones to wear a rose soliflore in public, but that ain't happening so I will enjoy them at home.

Guinivere

I bought this when it came out, both the perfume and eau de toilette versions, but I never came to use them. Don't like them at all. Too deep and spicy sweet for me personally. Wanted it to be ligter.

A little annoying to sit with two bottles and not liking the product. I guess I'll just throw them away.

stjernesol

Agree with lmlovespapa - smells like mulled cider..

This one smells simple, boring and flat on me, theres no development of the smell on my skin.
I find many of the YR perfumes a bit uninspired, but nice blend-in's with other perfumes.

Wish it was as sophisticated as they are promoting it - but no. One, flat, slightly chemical rose smell, a bit candy-like, but only one layer fragrance.
Sweet fragrances generally also works well with roses, gives a depth to cuteness in fragrances, but not in this one, still a "one-layer fragrance" that didnt even dry down and blend in with my own scent.
For that price I think YR could have gone further in their effort.

Disappointed. Looove all roses, and rose-smells generally smell nice on me.

Gave it away to my sister-in-law, didnt work well with her either.

kajol82

A remarkable fragrance. A gourmand rose, sweet and spicy. I always think of boozy rose-jam. Very well balanced and not overpowering IMO.

Longevity is amazing- I applied on spray this morning and it is still very noticable 11 hours later.

Love it! Its sadly been discontinued in my country but I managed to get a couple of back-ups. I truly don't ever want to be without this perfume

AnnetteInFrance

Someone mentioned it was discontinued so i just wanted to say it's for sale on the French website (it had been absent for a while) so they may be bringing it back?

jessbug

Maaaan, I don't know how I feel about this one! As a scent it's perfectly fine, it's a gourmand rose perfume. I've never smelled a gourmand rose before, so it's unique enough, and the juice is a pretty pink in a reasonably classy bottle. All of that should be reason enough for me to like it...but I NEVER reach for it. Never!

One time, I was like 'I should try this, it's just been sitting in my cabinet and I don't remember why I never wear it', so I sprayed it on. At first I was thinking that it wasn't bad, it was actually quite nice. And then I was overcome with an intense feeling of apathy (hah).

I wish I could love this perfume, or even like it, but I just. Don't. Care. This is one of those perfumes that makes me wish there was a neutral 'meh' face in between the like and dislike buttons. What a wealth of information that button would give us!

BelleofRivendell

NOT A REVIEW: Sorry for the non-review remark but I just had to pass these news onto fellow Rose Absolue fans.

This perfume is officially discontinued. So I've written to Yves Rocher and asked them to please bring back this perfume. They said if enough people write to them, they may consider bringing it back. For those of you who would like to have it back, go to Yves Rocher website and click on "Contact Us", then e-mail the customer services and ask them to bring back Rose Absolue.

Thank you for allowing me to interrupt the wonderful reviews on here. :)

magickmaven

Sadly, this beautiful smelling gem doesn't last all that long on me. I notice most people give it a good rating for longevity though. I should probably create some little sachet that I can hide on my person without putting the juice directly in contact with my skin as almost all YR fragrances seem to get just devoured by my skin.

I notice right away a lot of cinnamon blended with the rose here and it's one of the reasons that I love it so much.

Shortly before I am unable to detect it on my skin I smell a nice rosey woodsy blend that remains soothing and warm.

I love it, I just wish it lasted longer for me.

Jacobi

Excellent! Not a traditional rose scent but more a oriental style, spicy-warm rose.
On my skin the lasting power is more than 8 hours.

MaddieClfd

I bought my first bottle a few years back while visiting my parents. I still have some left in it, liquid changed colour from pink to brownish, it doesn't look great but the scent is not affected in a bad way. If anything - seems to be even deeper and richer. I didn't want to use it as I couldn't find and suddenly - tadam! YR UK website, what's more - Rose Absolute -60%. Of course - I had to buy it.

Perfume itself is amazing, deep, sweet gourmand. It always reminds me of a doughnut filled with rose jam, covered with a thick layer of sugar icing.
Sillage is good, I get compliments from people, I tend to wear it on colder days, it's a nice comforter.

iset

I finally obtained this fragrance and I am loving it. I am usually not a rose fragrance person. Leave it to Yves Rocher to make it appeal to me. I love it. It lasts for over 10hrs on me!

Jonayla

Love, love, love! It`s been nearly 20 years when I last time use YR`s fragrance. This was little bit more expensive than YR`s fragrance usually. It sparked my interest in it. Then I came here and read all wonderful reviews and I ordered it blind on online.

I`m huge rose fragrances fan. This is so unique, nothing is not like this. I think this is better than any other rose fragrance in the market. I love Stella and Bvlgari, but I love this one more! It last long. It been 5 hour since I put it in to my skin. I still smell warm sweet smell on my wrist. First you can smell spicys and then comes sophisticated rose. Last one you can smell lovely sweet cedar and patchouli. I highly recommend!

rickyrebarco

This lovely scent started my journey to being a rose scent lover. This is utterly divine. The rose smells natural, not too sweet, just fresh with the patchouli and warmed by the tonka and cinnamon. I could swear there is amber in there somewhere, too, but maybe it is just the tonka and cinnamon. This is a cosy warm delicious scent. I could drown in it. But I'll just wrap it around me like a soft blanket. Ahhhh.

This is another beautiful example of the extraordinary quality of Yves Rocher's scents. They continually put out top notch products at very reasonable prices. I don't know how Yves Rocher does it but I hope they keep up the good work!

astamm62

A pretty soft rose scent...A fluffy sweater, snuggley type of fragrance.I think it layers well with Yves Rocher's Candied Mallows or even with Loves Baby Soft.

Jarrah

Rose + patchouli + Cedar = One of my favorite perfumes

Kysyona

This is a rose version of chanel's coco to me. So creamy and a little leathery, grounded and rich, very satisfying. Hardly a rose in its primal meaning - rather a rose liqueur with a hink of tonka and cinnamon and a little wood smoke. I was so surprised that YR came up with something like this! - a truly outstanding scent, bottled in quite a sophisticated-looking flakon. The staying power is also very good and I cannot wait to wear it: it is bull's eye perfume for a colder autumn: you still hear the echo of summer ( florals ), but you are also getting ready to embrace the soon-to-arrive nothern winds and this means fire, warm drinks, cosyness and seasonal festivities ( tonka, cinnamon... ). Well done, will make sure to never run out of it.

My new Love. Rose and patchouli blends always capture my attention, directly from their bottles or on others, male and female. I find the aforementioned classic combo very alluring.

Yves Rocher fragrances are as rare as hen's teeth in Australia and often difficult to source online. I jumped at the opportunity to buy Rose Absolue blind when I stumbled across it recently as the underlying vanilla theme had me intrigued.

Gosh this is gorgeous. I have never encountered a quality sweet vanilla blended with rose in this way. It is outstanding. The herbal undertones are equally as moreish as the decadent syrupy notes. Spiced tonka notes seduce my senses, I am dangerously delirious from the ridiculously sexy aroma that is ME!

It is humid here today and Rose Absolute has shone in the heat. This beautiful perfume is a catalyst for receiving smiles. Lots of them :)

auras

TrailerTrashPrir is abosolutely right. Age matters. I bought a bottle of this miracle a couple of weeks ago. It was already brown, but oh the heavenly scent. Mature sweet rose with great lasting power. Perfect rose scent which I had been searching for ages. And by the way, hubby loves it too ;-)

TrailerTrashPrincess

i absolutely adored the "Moroccan Rose" fragrance from their bath & body care line, and have mourned the discontinuation for years. i still search for something that smells like that.

i bought a mini of this Rose Absolue when it first came out, and didn't like it. it was too spicy, too much stuff, cedar like a hamster cage, and not enough rose. so i put it away and completely forgot about it.

well, i found it today while digging out a backup of a Coty Airspun powder, and couldn't resist trying it again.

and it has aged beautifully. the liquid itself is no longer pink, in my little mini bottle (which has been in a closed box on a dark shelf for the last... what, six years?), the liquid is a pale brown now. fairly unattractive even as perfume colours go. but now? it smells enough like my beloved Moroccan Rose that i'm quite happy!

at least for me, the secret to this scent, is to let it sit, forgotten, for a few years before attempting to wear it. :)

puddley

Damson gin, more damson gin, some more booze, some children's cough syrup and a bit of Fry's Turkish Delight..
Bizarre stuff, gourmand and absolutely niche.
I really don't like it but it is quite extraordinary, a curiosity and probably a must for fans of heady syrups such as Serge Luten's Sa Majeste Rose or Feminite du Bois (not similar notes but very similar atmosphere).
I wish I could smell the cedre to lift it a little..

KateAnette

UPDATE:
The more i've sniffed, sampled and bought perfumes in the last months, the more i appreciate rare gems like these.
There's tons of designer/ department store perfumes out there that all are similar and booooooring, nothing really stands out, whatever price tag.
Rose isn't normally what i like in a perfume, but this is delish! Don't let the patch in the notes scare you. I usually can't handle patchouli, but here i can't even detect it. Edible, sweet, still very much wearable. And this is different, yay :)

Croneangel

OK, I usually give a fragrance three tries... this is my first one...
Opening note, gone so fast, I'm not sure what it was. Then a vanilla scent, then almond. Oh yeah, tonka bean. First hour: tonka bean. Second hour: tonka bean. Third hour: Lighter tonka bean! Fourth hour: Fading tonka bean and perhaps a touch of rose.
Considering I was looking for a rose scent, this isn't a very promising beginning. BUT, I have at least two more tries. And I have had fragrances change as I wear them repeatedly. So I still have hope. Over all, I've been pleased with the Yves Rocher scents I've purchased. It will be interesting to see how this goes with my daughter's skin chemistry as a comparison.

leila_mic

a great bunch of hot roses in the cold of winter ... delicious and easy to wear, but only in winter-time, for me ...

a warm perfume - great!!!

KateAnette

I don't really like rose frags, but bought this out of curiosity, it was very affordable as purse spray. Initial thought was "whoa, strong and REALLY sweet". This perfume makes my mouth water for some reason, so i guess it is gourmand :). It's not an "old lady rose" for sure, there's something very youthful to it. At first i didn't like it much, and still i don't feel quite comfortable wearing it in public. But it's growing on me, and it's somehow addictive. I find myself craving for it, and spraying it on quite often at home. The perfume isn't really me, i don't wanna smell like an edible rose ^^, but i have to say it's quite lovely, and my guilty pleasure to wear at home now and then :).

kuanyin4

I just sprayed some on, so this review is not with the test of time. But, I love this! I don't smell spices, I smell the spicy rose blended with vanilla. Which I guess is really tonka bean, but that's ok. I thought I didn't like tonka from my essential oil days, but in perfume I'm finding all the ones I thought I didn't like, I do. I know I love patchouli and rose, but I find this blended beautifully to a perfect balance of notes. I can't quit smelling my wrist!

MuskyFloral

In my opinion, it smells too much of honey and I'm afraid it's more on the artificial side. The structure of the original Damacena rose is partially 'made of' sweet honey scent but it is not as prevalent as in this perfume. I love rose scents, yet it's hard to find a good equivalent of it in any perfume. The result (at least on my skin) is this ever-present choking smell of rose-(artificial?) honey concoction. Yet, it may be because I prefer the simple unobtrusive fresh scent of cabbage roses. If you are a fan of the Damascena rose, Rose Absolue should be given a chance.

orchid_84

I adore this perfume. Of all the rose scents I’ve tried, Rose Absolute is one of the sweeter ones. It’s not sugary-sweet; it’s a warm, rounded sweetness. Just a hint gourmand, with a tiny bit of booziness to it.

This is a gorgeous, cozy combo of rose petals, tonka, spices and cinnamon. Absolutely more of a floriental than a straight floral. I first smell the dewy-fresh rose petals when I spray this on. The spices emerge most strongly in the heart notes, but they don’t overwhelm the rose or turn the perfume musty. The thick, sweet tonka bean note is there pretty much through the whole composition, but is strongest in the drydown. The tonka, rose and cinnamon mix so wonderfully, and come out smelling like a sensual, decadent, spiced rose-vanilla dessert. Very comforting and inviting.

This is quite unusual for a rose scent. I don’t usually think of rose-based perfumes as being cozy, but this one definitely is. Despite this quality, the sweet, creamy notes don’t ever overwhelm the natural delicate aroma of the rose petals.

The sillage and lasting power are quite good – I can still smell this on myself hours after spraying it on. A very successful blind buy indeed.

fenlady

What a gorgeous surprise this perfume is - a really beautiful, lifelike rose with spices and herbs, pretty but not too sweet, and wearable just about anywhere. I'm concerned that rose scents will become rarer as perfumers struggle with the restrictions of European scent guidelines. New rules legislate the amount of rose ketones that can be included in a scent, so if you have a favourite rose, better snap it up now as it could be discontinued. But the way Rose Absolue is structured, the rose, while strong, is not the only note, and perhaps it can survive. I've just bought an FB while it's available, just in case.
If you've never tried this, and love roses, it is well worth a go.

misteriouswind

A rose perfume. Very pretty, smells very sweet like candies. Girly, romantic scent. Nice and playful and warm. Love it.

Lyndale

@ Sensoria :)
You said you can't decide if you love this fragrance or hate it but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It could be that, on your skin, the fragrance creates a dichotomy which is utterly unique, like a top piece of art. The artist may hate the theme but love it because it is the best work he has ever created. People seeing the picture would be split but, hate it or love it, it would be so striking they would never forget it. Why not get some people to do a sniff test on you and find out if this is your "Sunflowers" or just a print of a crying clown?

beatrix75

swedish girl !!!!you are so boring like your country with all your negativ opinions !!wich frag its good for you??no one!!or soureone like probebly you are!!!

arubadream

I tried my very best to like this, but I cannot deny the fact that I hate anything with Tonka beans, I can't stand Tonka beans and I would probably never will.

It's not only the Tonka beans that I hate, it's the spices in rose absolue that makes the perfume too warm and too spicy for my liking. It's not easy on the nose at all, very headache inducing which at times...leads to a mild migraine.

Patchouli is the other thing I hate, but I don't detect patchouli here.

For me, it's not soft, quite dark actually, not sweet or anything close to being cloying. I can't use it as a bathroom spray either since it does not smell fresh to me. It's just like rose springled with spices.

When I wear this I felt like I've been walking in spice market, and I don't like that. Why would I want to wear something that makes me smell like spices??!

Long lasting, great sillage...but what's the use??! Not my cup of tea...

daliflora

For me, this fragrance was deceitful. At first, I liked it, and considered it feminine, though in a cordial way - I liked the spices on the top-notes. But afterwards I noticed that it gave headaches to some people around me, and so I came to realize that some notes were unfriendly synthetic. And so I ended up throwing away the small bottle I had.

The Swedish girl

Very very sour rose and patchouli. Almost medicinal.

Harsh, bitter, sharp... Gives me headaches and nausea.

Smells like a airfreshner for the bathroom.

Great sillage and longevity though.

But The Swedish Girl says: - "NO"!

Sensoria

I think the adverticement with the lady in the pink dress doesn't suit the perfume as for me the scent is very dark and woodsy. The pink dress suggests it's a very light and romantic flowery rose scent. I'm still trying to find out if I love or hate this perfume. It certainly isn't a mainstream scent and that's what I appreciate very much because a lot of recently made perfumes all have the same safe smell which a lot of people will like.I smell more cinnamon/spices and tutti-frutti then a rose scent. For me this scent belongs in the same categorie as Dior's Midnight Poison etc.
I love the Secrets d'Essences bottle design, very well done!

Well, I own a 5 ml bottle of the EdP so I can still try it out some more and make my mind up on this one :)
I will give the EdT a try too.

gomt

When I tried Rose Absolue in the store, I hated it. However, when a few weeks later I received a mini bottle and decided to give the smell a proper try, I fell in love with it instantly.

It smells delicious above anything else. It is soft, warm and feminine. And it is sweet, yet not too light or girly. I personally find it soothing, a little bit nostalgic maybe - in a good way. Happykitty put it well, saying "If you know how rose petal jam smells, then you know how Rose Absolue smells." A home-made rose petal jam served warm, like at grandma's, was what I was thinking exactly.

happykitty

If you know how rose petal jam smells, then you know how Rose Absolue smells.
I prefer to apply it on fabric - my scarf smells nice thanks to this. It gets a bit heady (not in a good way) when applied directly on skin. Maybe it's just my body chemistry.

edit: As I'm getting used to it, I like it more and more. The drydown is so pleasant and comforting...

Lilii

My story with rose absolue is rather strange, It had been a long time since I was searching for a pure rose or tonka bean scent since I love both notes and when I saw this perfume I thought It could be an option for me to see how the combination would work. What I was expecting was a pure innocent rose scene and when I sprayed it for the first time...oh God huge disappointment, It seemed to be the most old-fashioned scent I ever smelled and I even contacted the seller to ask if the bottle was old because most of the reviews were positive.

Then I sprayed it on my wrist and MADE myself to tolerate it, it was so unpleasant that I wanted to wash it off....
And I fell in love in 10 minutes...after experiencing a lot of hate-love feelings...The scent almost made me cry, I don't know if I am super emotional or just scents are so powerful that they can awake past memories...The scent was like a bunch of all my past memories both good and bad came to my head at once.
I even do not get too much roses, In fact I don't get any notes separately , they are so well-blended that you cannot say it is only a rose perfume... For me the smell is nostalgic(even sad) very dark, bitter and rather sweet...suitable for all seasons maybe except hot summer days...and I think it suits all ages maybe except teenagers.
If you are searching for a very light and very trendy happy rose you are in the wrong place. This rose is dark , very dark but wearable...The scene is romantic but not in a sexy sweet modern way but in a deep serious & poetic way...it is simple but rich. A masterpiece.
The bottle I have is Rose Absolue Edt (not eau frache or Edp)I dont know if the EDP is much different or not. I have several perfumes but this one is my dearest perfume that I will never give away.

Hollyberri

A very sweet (on my skin) candy rose scent, almost a little too sweet for my taste.

Unikko

One of my all time favourites! Sweet, deep, lush, yammy rose with almost gourmand edge. The opening has a green note that gives freshness and keeps it from coming too sweet.

I have the edp and pure parfum and both are lovely. The edp is fresher and the green note is more pronounced while the parfum is more focused on the deep, gourmand, yammy notes. Both version smell very rich, elegant and expensive. This is femininity in a bottle and something I want to always have in my collection.

I love the packaging too, it's very simplistic and elegant. Truly a masterpiece from Yves Rocher.

andromeda91

I love so much this perfume!!!

mademoiselle-c

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this fragrance. It is so warm and elegant whilst being so fresh and true to nature. It is an incredible rose scent for an unbeatable price! Yves Rocher has produced some goodies here in Canadianaland. Highly recommend.

BearysHoney

Another one that had to grow on me - i'm not a fan of really heavy rose perfumes but this one is nice as long as you apply lightly - a little will last a good while. I think this one makes a nice fall scent.

tjjbjaeg

This comes out of the bottle strong, with a wonderful punch of spices and a fresh sweet rose - I found it striking and different. As it dried I also was reminded of typical English raspberry ice cream - not "true to fruit" flavoured French ice-creams, but the really pink artificial british kind. Now although I don't eat that stuff if I can avoid it - I have to say I loved it swimming around me in soft folds coming from my wrist. Like rose water pavlova and cream filled with raspberries and something sparkly (sherbert dips?? for those who remember 1970's sweet shops) . I find this just delightful and am very surprised that I like it. If it also lasts well - I only tried it an hour ago - it will be soon hopping off the shop shelf and into my handbag.

melbritt24

I just adore this scent! What lovely roses and definitely NOT cloying. I was afraid it was going to be more on the gourmand side but not at all! It's sweet and spicy but in a very gentle way. I think it's one of Yves Rocher's best scents that they currently offer. It is oh so feminine and luxurious for the price! HINT: You can get a great deal on their fragrances if you are a regular mail-order member!

I loved it so much and I knew my mother would as well so I bought her a bottle too!

Yanna

Pretty, pretty velvety dark red roses. If you ever went to any rose garden in bloom you must have noticed the different character of scent an every type of rose has. Well done for this beautiful frag!

melanie

I was not paying attention to Yves Rocher perfumes until I found Rose Absolue. This is a delicate rose, which delighted me, it's not so fresh, but very gentle on your skin. Actually one of the most beautiful I ever tried. And I agree that it's a bit gourmet, just like a fine liqueur. You really never know where lies a fragrant note you'll like most.

Habanita

This is a rose scent I didn't like. I had a full bottle given as a gift. Usually I like good rose scents, but this one was too sweet and artificial. Somehow I always have the impression that Yves Rocher scents in the end seem to have something in common in the drydown that is not of my likes and even gives me a sickening feeling.

Emma x

SWEET FLIRTY AND PRETTY
************************
Rose Absolue is a delicate scent but can become overpowering if sprayed too much. I would suggest just one spray as it is headache material. (to me anyway)
I can really detect fine roses in this, and i can smell a hint of the spices in the opening. x

minuscula

I've been wearing Rose Absolue for five days in a row and the experience has been quite different in each instance... Cinnamon and... blackberry jam? -I swear I got something fruity instead of the expected rose- last Wednesday, loads of happy roses the next day, a nice blend of spices on Friday, and then what I got yesterday were some flowers (anonymous flowers, maybe with a hint of -yuck, it always manages to make me sad- tuberose), vanilla and almond. The roses are back today, although not the happy ones I met the other day: these are serious and shy... What shall I do with this? I adore it when the awaited roses appear and I enjoy it when the fruity?/spicy side is revealed, but the white-tuberose-almond-vanilla I got yesterday was scary and overwhelming and saddening for me, I had a horrible day.

olga1780

Update: I was about to leave for the gym, when i received Rose Absolu in the mail. So I couldn't help myself and sprayed it lightly on the back of my hand....wow, that was absolutely enchanting scent, warm, with a little bit of spice. The sillage and staying power are outstanding, because all the time at the gym i felt that i smelled like a rose bush ( and i mean it in a good way), but because it's not an appropriate scent for the gym, i kept trying to scrub it off with Purell, but to no avail. And now,4 hours later, i can still get a whiff of the almondy drydown. Totally in love with it! Highly recommended! Although finding it in the US can be a royal pain in the rear end.

Tigerlillian

Interesting spicy opening and a little too heavy on the patchouli for my liking. I prefer my rose a little cleaner and fresher.

The almond note gives it a nice, nutty creaminess and enhances the rose's sweetness.

Drydown is cozy and warm.

Juma

I love my roses scents: Tumulte, Paris Eau De Enchantees, Chanel No 5 Premiere, Midnight Poison...

Today I tested some rose fragrances at The L'occitane and I found The Yves Rocher's Rose Absolue the best, it's clean scent, a little bit spicy, with warmness of Patchuli. Lovely but not girlie.

Thanks Kat82.

laura.poison

Wow! Feels just like falling in love in a field of roses..!! I adore having so many roses on my skin... Makes me feel like one of them.. delicious...

This week my order arrived of 2 bottles of Rose Absolue EDT Eau Fraiche in 75 ml per bottle!! And the perfume is AMAZING!!!! Just like the EDP it is very strong. It is a bit fresher, but still VERY VERY sweet! I can really say I adore EVERY concentration of this fragrance!! Pure perfume, EDP and now EDT Eau Fraiche. What a masterpiece fragrance line!! And I was just in time ordering 2 because Yves Rocher is discontinuing the EDT version!!
Oh and I forgot to mention: I do not consider this perfume a FLORAL perfume, nooooo...
It is a very strong and sweet oriental - spicy - gourmand. So you ladies loving sweet, spicy and gourmand accents, this one is for you!

Thalia

A sweet, cheerful, spicy, very rosy rose. It's quite fresh feeling and should not scare off those who are terrified of "old lady perfumes." The cinnamon and patch make it warming for winter, and the freshness and brightness make it nice for spring and summer -- this is a great "go to" scent when you want to lift your spirits and wear something effortless.

lilou

I love floral, sweet and lasting perfumes. This one is nice but I have been disappointed. No enough sweet for me, just roses, only roses. So for people who love roses.
Poor lasting power.

naksigulu

Little sweet and rosey parfum i think more suitable in the nigth or winter

gypsy parfumista

A rose by any other name still smells as sweet...

YR released (and continue to add to) a line called Pur Desir. They were a lovely collection of soliflores; and PDdRose was classified in the YR catalog (2006) as a "spicy transparent floral"...true enough! It was discontinued, no doubt to make room for this beauty. Here, the perfumer took the spiciness, accented it and added a lovely gourmand feel to some of the richest roses in the world and finished it with a slight oriental twist. (Rose petals are delicious...try one sometime!)

An amazingly warm and soft rose greets my nose, smothered in cinnamon and other subtle spices, upon first spraying this. The addition of the spices keeps this from ever getting too "old lady-like" and it truly brings the creaminess of the roses to the fore. There are no less than four types of roses here (2 types of Damascenas: moroccan and bulgarian, and two different turkish roses, as well)and together they are absoltuely divine. I can only os-magine the wonderful scent of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but this is probably what that was like: rich florals with hints of spice and a warm earthy scent. I like roses, but am not overly fond of them. This scent has a very interesting texture: up close, it smells very spicy and warm, almost "thick". Then, as you move away it begins to emit tendrils of rosiness that are alluring, elegantly seductive and mysterious. All the aspects of love itself are here: softness, richness, sensuality and warm sweetness are found in this juice. Though I do, for all intents and purposes, prefer lilacs or hyacinths (personally) to the rose...I tip my hat to her and recognise her rich regal scent. The drydown here is wonderful, as well. Earthy musky patchouli and a superb tonka bean note reprise the gourmand opening and deepen it, with hints of vanillic nuttiness. This is no Roses, Roses, Roses, Thank God!(an older one from Avon); but, it is the queen of the garden in all her splendor, and then some...

Sillage: good
Longevity: very good
Overall: 3.75/5

Do not let the "For:" classification on here fool you, men can (and do) wear this scent, as well. It's spiciness works well on a man, and if he can pull off the creamy florals; the drydown is very nice on male skin. I, myself, was skeptical when this was released and waited to get the mini first...now I have the EDP, body wash and lotion! It IS that good, folks!!

Guys: Do you want something to show your undying love to your woman?...Then, don't give her roses that will die! Instead, give her a lovely rose scent (like this) and she will treasure it, longer than she ever ever would live roses!! A delicious concoction that gives the loveliness of a dozen roses (or more) distilled into perfume form, this has brought a smile to (I'm sure) many a woman's face...and always puts a smile on mine!!

sherapop

Yves Rocher ROSE ABSOLUE is a very nice sweet rose perfume. This seems a good choice for those who find hard-hitting rosebush-in-a-blender creations such as PARIS, TEA ROSE, ROSA MAGNIFICA and the Creed tea rose all too much. Here the composition is friendlier, more accessible to "young" ladies (ahem), and nearly sweet enough to belong in the fruity floral category. A very floral fruity-floral to be sure, but definitely leaning in that general direction.

I like this composition a lot, although I prefer my roses dusty and dry, along with a touch of "old lady" aldehydes, if the truth be known. But I do recommend ROSE ABSOLUE to anyone who likes STELLA and other sweet florals of that kind. Very natural smelling with good longevity and sillage, this is a highly wearable, high-quality rose perfume which, while sweet, is never cloying and does not degrade over time. ROSE ABSOLUE could easily be worn in public settings and might make a good choice for those who usually don fruity florals but are looking for something on the fancier side.

icekat

This is such a gorgeous luscious rose scent. The combination has beauty and complexity but it feels effortless and natural. It is bright and fresh on the opening. I think I feel a bit of bergamot. Then it turns into smooth heavenly rose with a hint of spice, mostly cinnamon. Patchouli adds just a touch of wood on the dry down. There is nothing that I would add or remove from this scent. It has this perfect harmony.

If I would compare it to Stella Nude, another rose fragrance I like. Stella would be like a young innocent princess, soft and gentle. Rose Absolu is a gorgeous young Queen. Her beauty is beyond comparison. She is sensuous but classy. She carries herself with an aura of dignity but without vanity or pride. I can see her walking in the garden dressed in a gorgeous pink satin gown. All other flowers bow in silence to her eternal beauty.

I would definitely recommend it to everyone who loves rose scents.

Miss Guerlain

This IS 5 stars in my book! Smells expencive & niche! Good lastingpower too! This smells exactly like something by Jean Patou or some overpaid niche-brand would sell!!! An instant moder classic it is!!!

BTW: I think many of you would be interested in what the famous LUCA TURIN wrote about this in "THE GUIDE"?
So here it goes:

"3 Stars - fresh Rose: Rose Absloute is by far the best of Yves Rocher's latest set of three upmarket fragrances, a comfortable, lemony-powdery rose that feels strinkingly real, like the headspace rose reconstructions of the eighties, on a background of tonka and patchouli. Far better than one has any right to expect given the bargain price less than $40 for 2 ounces. LT"

Who could have said it better?

Annica

I just read that this will be removed from the range so stock up while there is still time!!

Passionflower

Love the smell of roses in this scent, but at the same time it's got a sharp edge. I'd like it more if it hadn't, because other than that it's a lively rose fragrance. As it is, it reminds me of rose-incense and I wouldn't like to walk around smelling like incense. Staying power is great.

Prettynightmary

At first a bit sharp and even annoyingly sweet. Dryes down to a soft, sweet caramel-rose. I like it but that`s about it.

Action

This is actually a floral gourmand!

Lyndale

I used to buy Yves Rocher fragrances some 20 years ago but they always seemed to turn bad within a few months. I then bought my first "grown up" bottle of perfume, (YSL "Champagne", now called "Yvresse") and after being so inpressed by the difference in quality I swore I'd never buy Rocher again. Then, earlier this year, I decided on a whim that I would like a good rose fragrance and Rose Absolue was recommended. I am SO glad I listened, the quality of Rocher fragrances has improved beyond recognition. My husband and I honeymooned in Turkey and in the evenings we would go and sit by the pool to have a drink and watch the stars come out while little tea light candles flickered across the terrace and the air was heavy with the scent of all the roses growing throughout the gardens around us. Rose Absolue brings back all those memories as if I'm there again, a sweet, slightly citric, slightly spicy scent of heady roses and Turkish Delight. It is rose perfection!

vuelo

it's similar to lipstick rose.

nice for layering, as it's quite mono.

romantic and sweet, not too proper for a business look.

it's more for dating/time with loved one, I think. Wearing this perfume it's like showing your mood- sweet, romantic, etc.

I agree it is somehow gourmand. Syrupy.

sky76sky

Oh, this is a super scent! It is all about the rose & yet it has so much more substance & interest than other odes to this flower.

Softer than I imagined, it is as rich & rosey as a red berry liqueur, as smooth as silk, as voluptuous as velvet...a seductive rose! This is not the innocence of teenage rose-bud lips but the candied, crimson, matt made-up mouth of a sensual woman.

Rose-hip syrup, creamy, caramel-coated burgundy petals...soft, spiced, deep, dark, honeyed & satisfying. Sweet, but in a rich, decadent way...like sucking honey from a silver spoon whilst smelling a beautiful, pillowy bouquet.

Worthy of all the high praise & certainly one to try if you enjoy warm, gourmand scents....even if you are far from a fan of the flower itself.

C3C thank you for the opportunity to test this gem! :)

justlikehoney

First note it's like a Children-Syrup Medicine but great in middle note. I'm not a Rose-fragrance fanclub but I have it one!

Carnelian

This is my new favorite rose perfume. Goes on slightly "medicinal" smelling, but then a sweet (not dry or powdery), pure, solid warm rose soon develops. I am guessing this is the help of the tonka bean at the bottom. Any patchouli is lightly added, it's not a heavy note like in Iris Noir. It's not a delicate Annick Goutal rose, but is lighter than the heavy-handed E. Arden Red Door, etc. Sort of in-between. This perfume "ripples" to my nose, don't have any other word for it - like the notes in the fragrance keep shifting back and forth between each other and I get one note, then another - distinct but blended at the same time. Love it, nice fragrance.

rosered

Rose Absolute is my fave of the 3 I have tried of Yves Rocher collection
its strong but not obverpowering and the Damask roses and touch of cinnamon is an ingenious combination !

this rose is like no rose you have ever picked before ! and has staying power while wearing this alluring fragrance .

chuaalba

Sweet rose and delicate,a litle resin.I love it,for me its the yves rocher,s best one

alphala

This such an intensive fragrance. It's really really sweet, like rose jam. Perfect for evenings, in winter. It last very long, especially in scarfs. I love it really really much. Great work YR!

AmberLove

Beautifull scent, my first impression was; it smelled like a big bouquet of roses!!! After its drydown you can smell the spices slightly. This is a very nice blended rose fragrance. Normally I find Rose scents too strong and get a headache, but this is too good!!!

beauty_girl

I think this one smells like DG rose the one.

To Action:
You must meen YSL and not Yves Rocher. Yves Rocher is a company while YSL is a person.

miszliz

Essential Rose Bvlgari aint nothing like you think it is! doesnt even smell like rose. i dont like it. but i hope this one is gonna be a good one.. gonna test it as soon as possible after the jasmin perfume of this label

ice2fire

Interesting thing is - I did not like eau de parfum but I fell in love with eau de toilette, which is lighter and tenderer.
Few years ago I hated rose scent in perfumes, but times change, people change - so preferences too I guess :-)
Last year I tried Rose Absolue and got suprised - I liked it... I liked it very much! In fact I loved it!!!
You can smell the precious bulgarian rose oil in it and very gently mixed spices.
For those who complain about headaches - Rose Absolue (or eau de toilette in my case) is MUCH MUCH lighter than for example La Rose Angel by Thierry Mugler (trust me, THAT is hell of a strong rose scent!:-).

Rose Absolue is a bit of a "gourmand" rose, with a sweet candy opening and an unusual almond-vanilla note in the dry-down. There's even a touch of some interesting "plastic" aroma, probably a spice note of some sort, which gives the scent some complexity. But mostly it is rose, for hours and hours. It has great longevity and marvelous sillage. I could still smell it on my sweater the next day.

Rose Absolue is not the blushing, dewy first rose of springtime. It comes across as a dark, spicy rose that strikes me as a good evening and winter fragrance for rose lovers. Rocher could easily have named it "Rose Noir" and that would have been appropriate. Rose Absolue reminds me very much of Yves Rocher's Iris Noir, with a different floral essence as the centerpiece.

It's not quite what I'm looking for, but if you love rose soliflores, this is worthy of your consideration. Overall, it's nicely done.

A true masterpiece from Christine Nagel. For all the women that adore Rose perfumes, your collection cannot do without this one!!

Symphony of roses! Very beautiful fragrance. My husband bought me the bottle of Rose Absolue for Christmas and my first sniff was very emotional. Pure rose, solid flower Queen! It's not a candy-like smell, it's not a synthetic flower. It's Her Majesty the Rose.

I never knew such a sweet rose in all of my life-It's the scent of gigantic dark pink roses on their last days before wilting, through wafts of patchouli incense-smoke. I hate patchouli, but I will wear this, because it is potently sweet in a way that reminds me of summer days being almost knocked over by the smell of roses and woods traveling on the heat waves-not fresh, not completely pleasant, but lovely like being offered sweet tea when I'm thirsty-as long as I can have water eventually, I will drink with pleasure....I will enjoy this scent in small doses, not too often, and appreciate it even more when I wear light, fresh, fleeting and not-at-all-sweet scents.

Rose Absolue is lovely! I'm not usually a floral-fragrance wearer, but this is one I enjoy quite a lot! The Chinese have Sweet & Sour Chicken...but the French have Sweet & Sour Rose.

The beginning surprised me (bec. I didn't know what the notes were until now). I wasn't expecting it to smell like the many spicy amber fragrances I've had the joy of sampling this year. The spices arrive full force...but disappear after a minute-and-a-half. And in its place, I get a beautifully fresh, vibrant, & slightly sweet rose aroma. Where Alessandro Dell'Aqua "Woman in Rose" is like a "zesty-fresh", slightly green, sparkly, yet somewhat diluted, rose....Rose Absolue is soft, ultra feminine, and luxuriously smooth. There's a subtle sweetness in here that vaguely reminds me of the one in Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche (though they are remarkably different perfumes altogether). The patchouli does not dominate, but rather, stands behind the rose & nudges it by adding a little depth & a little sex appeal. Besides the tickle of spice in the beginning, I find no sharp edges here. From the spicy quick beginning, to the luxuriously smooth middle, and then to the slightly tamed vixen of a drydown...this scent is just a gorgeous, well-rounded, and beautifully feminine perfume---perfect for any season I think. Imagine a satin blouse in soft pink & a cream-colored sweater that can be dressed UP or DOWN for whatever you have planned---whether it's taking your kids to school in the morning, or going out to lunch with the girls or business associates, or even attending an extravagent art exhibit with dinner afterwards. You can't go wrong with this. It's womanly & fabulous. Lasting power = about 5.5 hours. Not great, but right now, I don't mind.

I tried it today as I found a sample while tidying up. I didn't expect it to fit to me, as I am not the floral-type, and indeed it doesn't.
Its really sweet, in the beginning I could smell the spices but now after 10min they are gone. Left is an ocean of roses, sweet and heavy, supportet by the patchouli. My best friend would love it as she adores the smell of roses.
I thought I should give them a try but once again roses smell a little soapy to me and make me feel dizzy.

Excellent. This is not an attempt at infusing some avant-garde concept into a rose perfume, but no more and no less than an extremely well-executed traditional, oriental-style, spicy-warm rose. It has a very restrained citrus elements in the top and a disinct cinnamon note, which I happen to like a lot. The soft rose focuses on blossom-notes, there is only little green and no damp earthiness here, and that meshes nicely with a warm vanillic base, which is saved from tooth-aching sweetness by a dose of patchouli. The quality shines through in that this perfume lacks the sickly sweetness, infantile fruitiness and sledghehammer artificiality that characterize so many contemporary florals and I therefore find this eminently wearable for anybody with good taste, regardless of gender. I couldn't think of a better introduction to haute parfumerie on a small budget.

The perfumer of this fragrance, Christine Nagel is also the nose behind my all-time-favourite "Mille & une Roses".

Because of this fact this scent has to be good ;o)

falovalo

Warm, earthy roses, with an almost tea-like feel. The rose is the star, the patchouli merely a background character.

Though, with all the rosiness, it still isn't the stuffy usual rose that comes to mind when one thinks of a rose perfume. It's got enough vitality to make it different and more wearable to more people.

Wristsniffer

I finally received my order from Yves Rocher and I have to say that Rose Absolue was worth the wait. Is it groundbreaking and earth-shatteringly orginal? No. Is it a comforting and warm take on a beautiful, classic rose? Yes.

Christine Nagel is my favorite perfumer and I hope to someday own a bottle of every one of her lovely creations so I HAD to give this perfume a try. My affection for rose-based scents is not a loyal one; while I appreciate and sometimes adore very abstract rose scents such as Stella, I'd hate to smell of an uncomplex rose water and tend to avoid simple rose soliflores.

Smelling it on my skin, it's hard to define Rose Absolue. It's rosy, yes, but it's something more. I would say it borders on gourmand but never quite crosses the line into foody territory. While Stella is more of a dark purple shade of rose, Rose Absolue is more of bright pink shade of the flower - vibrant where Stella is dark, loud where Stella is soft, and sweet and spicy where Stella is salty. I also detect just the faintest hint of fruit in RA; a powdery cherry aroma that is reminiscent of the one Christine Nagel used in Delices de Cartier. It's divine.

I purchased the purse-sized bottle to sample and will be ordering a full-size bottle when that runs out.

Mellyhelly

Goooouuurgeooussss! I'm so glad I tested this and I will purchase for sure asap even if I have to drive back to the only shopping mall I can find it! I tested it in EdP. It's impressive. I smell a glorious intense red rose and bulgarian essential rose quality. I also smell a fruity note but very faint (thanks god). I think it's very feminine, not something I would like to smell on a man. It's a beautiful rose scent and I smell almost no powder in it (double thanks god and Christine Nagel)!
Honestly I don't smell patchouli here. Maybe it's just perfectly blended in you don't detect its strong note that kills anything else.
It has lasting power, good sillage, refined basenote that support the beautiful rose without sinking it. Everything is just so balanced in this scent, not a sexual scent for sure but delicately sensual nonetheless.
It swifts around me as I move, it's not a stiff scent like an armour (so many scents are like that) Thumbs up for this! Also nice layered with Voile d'ambre!

rosesbecomeme

I bought this after reading it reminded wearers of "Une Rose" ...not a bit . If it's like anything it's more the dreadful "Lipstick Rose" .It's candy and cheap candy at that.

sarselia

i had a sample of this perfume once and i really liked it.it was delicate like a rose in the rain and also sweet but just as a spring night.
it has everyting-it is delicate and sweet but light sweet and also it gives you the feeling of innocence.
i would buy one as soon as i can

I LOVE this perfume - since discovering it less than a year ago, I've gone through two bottles - I've finally slowed down on the use because once that introductory price was gone, it got expensive. But it is my favorite rose scent.

Zhara

Days of Wine and Roses! Yves Rocher Rose Absolute - a delightful combination. A solid, unpretentious zinfandel is the opening. The wine is fruity and a hint of cassia gives it lift.

The rose is a great partner to the wine note, but it's not a fresh cut rose as found in iPF's Rosa Damascus - Yves Rocher Rose Absolute is a vase of cut rich red roses; very proper, very restrained.

There's a great base here, I'd swear it's rosewood, sandalwood, and maybe even black tea, but the listing says patchouli, which I do not detect at all.

There is no powder here - many rose scents have it, sometimes in excess, and that is truly what makes a rose fragrance so feminine. I can't exactly say that Yves Rocher Rose Absolute is masculine or unisex, but it surely isn't "frilly" nor overly sweet. It's a serious rose, and quite original.

Whatever the ingredients, undetectable tonka or unlisted woods, they provide an olfactory experience that is far greater than the pleasant price tag would let on. Shame on those high end singlefloras from boutique perfumers - Yves Rocher does it well, very very well, and they don't empty your purse to do it.

Summary: A great dark rose, rich, and especially good for folks who are not normally rose fans.

sandrina_bambina

Darker and juicy, gourmand liquered roses, surrounded with spices and sweet balsamic notes of Tonka beans, just a wonderful composition like the whole YR line-Secrets d’Essences.

For me, its not pink and girlie perfume, its more like darker nuances of the sheets on the poster, tender and intimate.

Perfume nose for this edition is famous Christine Nagel, and I would like to make some comparations. She made one of my favourite fragrances, Miss Dior Cherie, with delicate alcohol flavour blended with patchuli on the base of the scent. Here I could feel the same combination, and same sensuality, her work of art.

Rose Absolue is an intoxicating, sweet and rich perfume, with ruler Roses in a main role. Delicious!

rieuse

I love rose scent in Bulgarian perfumes because of their staying power. Yves Rocher Rose Absolue power is doubtful though they added some sweet notes which makes this fragrance very delicious.

Marianne

I wouldn't say it is fresh but rather heavy, like Voile d'ambre but made of roses...

olga5

It's pretty good, for those who love roses, a sweet rose.

jeca

It is not bad at all for those who loves rose in prefume. This rose is not oily, sweet, gourmand...
