How it works!

Follow the step-by-step instructions
STEP 1
Register at ROOM

Following a study programme at an educational institution in one of the regions in The Netherlands where ROOM operates? Or will you be doing so? Register at ROOM!

Registration at ROOM will cost you €35 and gives you an 8 year subscription. Click on the button below and enter your personal details at My ROOM.

Register now >>

Tip: Be aware of the waitinglist. The longer you have been registered the greater the chances of finding a room. You can register from the age of 16. This is not an unnecessary luxury, because in the large university towns rooms are very hard to find.

STEP 2
Find your ROOM!

When you log in to ‘My ROOM’ and click on ‘Matching offer’ you will see the rooms you can respond to.

These rooms are located in the region where also your educational institution is and available from 4 months before your studies start.

Click on the photo of the student room for information such as habitable area, energy label, position, photos and much more. If you are interested in a room, click on ‘Respond’ at the bottom of the page. Happy ROOM-hunting.

Feeling lazy? Let us know that you want to receive notifications by e-mail. We'll let you know when a room that matches with your preferences becomes available.

STEP 3
Check your ROOM!

Every offering has an expiration date. You'll know what position you've ended up on the waiting list when the offer has expired. If you're ranked first we'll offer you the room.

The longer you are registered, the higher you will be placed on the waiting list. Different rules apply for vote-in rooms: it does not matter how long you have been registered, unless “vote-in based on registration period” applies. Sometimes you find Direct offers, these rooms are offered by response time.

Note: You can have 5 responses open at the same time and you can be in first place for several of them. You get a maximum of one offer at a time, as long as that is open you cannot receive any other offers. In the meantime, we offer other rooms, for which you were also on the list, to the next candidate.

STEP 4
Accept your ROOM?

Been to a viewing and can't wait to move in? Don't forget to officially accept the room. There's a deadline and you can view it at your Offered rooms and in the e-mail we've sent.

Don't really like the room? No problem. Refusing the offer at this point will not affect your registration. Let us know when you're not interested, we might make the next candidate's day.

STEP 5
Own your ROOM!

After accepting the room, it is yours! The housing association - your landlord - will ask you to send some documents for verification. They will let you know which documents they require.

If everything is fine, the room is definitely yours. You just need to sign the contract. Go get those bags!

Note: If you refuse the room during this phase, your account will be blocked and you may incur costs.
