They made a innocent mistake and their lives changed forever. They remained silent but the time has come to speak up. The premiere of “Suskunlar” is tonight on SHOW TV at 20:00.

Before the first episode even aired on SHOW TV the new series “Suskunlar” became a phenomeon on the social media networks. With TIMS Production producer Timur Savci, screenplay writer Pinar Bult, director for the first episode Umur Turagay, with Cinamatographer Yon Thomas.

The story of four yyoungsters born and growing up in the neighborhood of ‘Kuyudibi‘; with the lead performances of Murat Yildirim (Ecevit), Sarp Akkaya (Bilal), Asli Enver (Ahu), Guven Murat Akpinar (Ibrahim), and Tugay Mercan (Zeki).

Four young friends actually more like brothers Ecevit, Bilal, Ibrahim, & Zeki make a innocent mistake which changes their lives forever. The four friends now grow up overnight, the chain of events that follow are unforgettable, and they promise never to see each other again. Year later they are all living a different life but one of them decides he can no longer remain silent, and he brings the four back together again.

BİLAL (SARP AKKAYA)
Nick name is "SARI". the youngest of the four. suffers from asthma, has carried a nebulizer his entire life. He has a serious crush on Ahu, however, she has always only loved him like a brother.

ECEVİT (MURAT YILDIRIM)
Nick name is "SERIF" the leader of the foursome. Studied law in Germany. Returns to Istanbul, however never goes back to the old neighborhood. Has a successful life, however he has hidden his past.

ZEKİ (TUGAY MERCAN)
Nickname is "YANIK" always smiling and intelligent, however he is a introvert. Returns to Istanbul after years of being away, rents a room in a boarding house, and falls in love with the landlords daughter. But this was not possible. Zeki is the first to speak

İBRAHİM (GÜVEN MURAT AKPINAR)
Nickname "ISKA IBO" is now a father himself, living with his mother, a typical mother from the Black Sea region. No matter what his age he still is a child himself. A faithful friend. He would give his life for his friends.

Brotherhood

SHOWTV new series “Suskunlar premieres tonight with its first episode. With the lead actors being Murat Yildirim, Sarp Akkaya, Turgay Mercan and Guven Murat Akpinar; as young men seeking revenge on their lost childhood.

~The concept of the series comes from the renowned movie “Sleepers” by Barry Levinson, does the series stray from the main concept of the original?

Sarp Akkaya: The story involving the characters will have some differences. After an unfortunate accident, the youngsters are sent to a juvenile detention center for a period of time.

Murat Yildirim: Anticipating the fact that this is expected to be a long running series, there will of course be additional surprises. However the concept of the 4 youngsters and their ordeal remains. Then we move to adulthood and the psychological effects of their trauma. While viewing the experiences of them as children, their innocence, and the dramatic events that take place will surely give goose bumps. If this shines a light on circumstances that we have done our jobs well.

Sarp Akkaya: There is also a true love story with this storyline. While viewing you will say now this can’t really be real.

Murat Yildirim: The passion, and the foundation of the friendship is extremely strong. So is the feeling of revenge. This is why it is so realistic.

“Was the screenplay Important”

~Why did you want to perform in this series?

Murat Yildirim: I was not planning on working this year; however Timur Savci & Pinar Bulut were the reasons for my changing my mind. In addition to my friends Sarp and the other actors was additional gratification.

Sarp Akkaya: I was fortunate to have worked previously with screenplay writer Pinar Bulut, and when I was told she was the writer, I accepted without reading the screenplay. The scenario is very important to a performer as well as the production company and producer/director.

Turgay Mercan: The character of Zeki had a affect on me. I felt very close to him

~Mr Guven, how were you added to the cast?

Guven Murat Akpinar: I actually auditioned for the role that Turgay obtained...I was then told they has 1 more character and I auditioned and got the part.

Sarp Akkaya: I actually appreciate what Guven did. He auditioned for a role, when he did not get the part, he went home and took multiple photographs on his laptop. He then forwarded the information with the comments I can also perform in this type of character as well. This shows that a performer does not take a part just for the sake of taking the part, he does it to be able to perform.

Murat Yildirim: There was also a story that Bruce Willis also did something like that. He even auditioned for a part of an African American woman. Character portrayals are closely webbed.

~Can you explain your character to us?

Sarp Akkaya: I portray the character of Bilal, nickname Sari. I actually love the nickname Sari, because no one every again in my lifetime will refer to me as Sari. Never lost touch with Ibo, loved by the people of the neighborhood and a vagabond. Does not give much thought before he acts. However under the tough shell they is a need for friendship and brotherhood, and when he finds that he takes responsibility for it and remains loyal.

Murat Yildirim: Pınar Bulut really thought out carefully the characters when writing Bilal, Ecevit and Ibrahim...three characters that actual complete each other. I portray the character of Ecevit, an child from a abused home and the abuse he receives while incarcerated, determined not to be like his father, a man of the law and attorney. 20 years later just as he thought he had forgotten everything in his past; suddenly Zeki decides to bring everything back to the surface and Ecevit starts remembering everything in the toughest way possible. He is now determined to seek justice. First seeking a lawful justice, but then emotions take over. He changes his characterization.

Turgay Mercan: I portray the character of Zeki. He lives within his own world, alone, he has no one. Out of the foursome he is paying the heaviest prices. An introvert. He is also the voice of the series.

Guven Murat Akpinar: I love my character. I portray the character of Ibrahim, a sweet man. Very innocent. Does not make a move alone. He would give up his own life for his friends. A very sensitive man.

~In your personal lives do you have such friends?

Murat Yildirim: I was actually part of a foursome group growing up. There are times I dream back to them as I perform. After 20 years one of them found my phone number and actually called me during a taping and he came to the set. I must have really been thinking of them for this to happen after all these years.

Sarp Akkaya: I am 32 years old, I have friends that I have been friends with for 28 years. Friends I have had since the age of 4. We met when I was four and he lived in the apartment 2 levels above mine, that is how we met, we moved and he still lives 2 levels above my apartment. This is why I can truly understand Ecevit and Bilal.

“There are no short cuts“

~OK..so why should be watch “Suskunlar”

Murat Yıldırım: As a viewer I would watch this series. There is a real situation here, there are no shortcuts and this is the most reality that can be brought to the screen. As a performer it is our responsibility to defend these children. This is a heavy burden to bear.

Sarp Akkaya: With a clear conscience we can sign our own names to the series. I am happy to be performing in this series. The wrong doings toward children, and their helplessness is very heart wrenching. If you in your personal lives have this type of ongoing bonds from your past you cannot help but see yourself.
