"Supernatural": Right now, the Winchesters' No. 1 priority is closing the gates of hell to keep all the demons out. What they don't know yet, though, is that in addition to the demon tablet, there's an angel tablet, which could lock all the angels away for good. The question is, would they be willing to banish Castiel in order to rid the world of all the other angels? "I absolutely think the boys would sacrifice Castiel to get rid of the angels," Jared Padalecki tells us. "I think they are, not one-track minded, but goal-oriented enough to where you've seen them sacrifice themselves or others to try and accomplish a bigger objective ... I feel like they would do it. I could be wrong, but I feel like they would do it."

Best news ever for "Supernatural" fans! The CW has confirmed to Zap2it that Misha Collins, our favorite angel-gone-rogue, has signed on to return to the show as a full-time series regular in the already announced Season 9. In addition, he plans to direct an episode -- making him the second cast member, after Jensen Ackles, to step behind the camera on the series.

Currently, Collins' character, Castiel, is embroiled in a major storyline -- he's just learned that a tablet exists that could banish all angels from earth forever, and Heaven is willing to do just about anything to keep the demons (and the Winchesters) from getting their hands on it. Naomi (Amanda Tapping) has been messing with his mind, and giving him orders that he only processes on an unconscious level.

We recently visited Collins on the "Supernatural" set, where we discussed whether or not Castiel is aware of Heaven's disturbing manipulation of his life.
 
"There's a fine line with Castiel. It's a little bit difficult to tell what's going on, how much he's conscious of," Collins says. "Castiel is being programmed by Naomi, and yet, it seems as though, largely, he's being programmed on an unconscious level. It's been a balancing act for me, deciphering how much he's aware of what's going on, and how much he's not. But he does take moments away to go ask her questions, so he's consciously communicating with her to an extent."

What did you think of Sam and Dean discussing trust issues?
Carissa: Honestly, i thought we were done with that. The boys beat their chest and had it out, had a beer and put their feet up. Get over it already. Who doesn't have some trust issues? If I talked about it all the time, I'd bore people to death. If Sam and Dean weren't hot, we'd have to have a little discussion.

Alice: Ugh, don’t get me started. Aren’t we beyond this? To be honest, I was extremely disappointed that the writers went there. It was a major step backward after all the progress the brothers had made the last few episodes. Of course Sam and Dean have trust issues. They always have. Do we need to go there again? It’s false conflict drummed up by writers desperate to chew up scenery because they suddenly realized they hadn’t watched the show all season. Perhaps the last few.

Sean: I totally agree about being done with the trust argument. I understand the brothers have to have some conflict at times, but I thought we were through with those issues. At least Dean said he finally does trust Sam and I hope that closes the book on that one.

What does Sam coughing up blood mean and what might be in store for him with the other trials?
Carissa: I'm wondering if it might mean the wrong brother took on the first trial. There's only one down the hatch, right? We did discuss the possibility that Dean should have been the one in the driver's seat. Maybe it's a destiny thing and if the wrong brother hits the ground running, death ensues. That would be extremely bad for season 10 - something I think we're all thinking about already.

Alice: It means he’s totally screwed! Nah, I wouldn’t have told Dean either. He’s too uneasy about this whole thing. I just hope that this doesn’t bring up another “Why didn’t you tell me, why are lying to me, why oh why don’t you trust me?” conflict. Otherwise, I’m really scared for Sam. Sounds like he’s not going to have an easy road ahead and needs his brother.
 
Sean: I'm worried about a trust thing brought up again with him not telling Dean. Beyond that, I do think that the God Trails having consequences is a good thing. I wonder what completing the next one will do to Sam, and I hope that both brothers can work together in overcoming that additional obstacle as well. Sam and Dean really work well together and I'd love to see that follow through the rest of the season.

SPN SEASON 8 FINALE SPECULATIONS ~ CAS
I’M PRETTY SURE THAT THERE IS A GREAT CHANCE THAT CAS WILL FALL AND BECOME HUMAN.
HERE’S WHY
1. MISHA’S BEEN PROMOTED TO SERIES REGULAR AGAIN
I have high hopes that he’s going to be in more episodes this time, since they’ve done the back and forth “Guest Star” to “Regular” thing already. The writers also mentioned that it’s hard to write Cas into the usual episodes because he becomes a sort of deus ex machina, which makes it too easy for the Winchesters if they have him around. And obviously, the writers don’t want make it easy for the Winchesters. So if they’re going to write Cas in more, he’ll probably be handicapped in some way, and being human seems like the perfect solution.
2. IN 8.08, CAS MENTIONED THAT HE WANTED TO BECOME A HUNTER
3. THERE’S AN ANGEL TABLET WHICH BANISHES ALL ANGELS.
So it’s highly likely that Cas would either have the option to stay behind by ripping out his grace, or some big battle renders him human.
4. ACCORDING TO JARED, “I absolutely think the boys would sacrifice Castiel to get rid of the angels,”
My take is that Castiel will obviously be on board with a suicide mission, especially after realizing that he’s now burdened with more guilt, because he has this incessant need to “set things right”
5. IF THE ANGELS ARE BANISHED AND CAS GETS LEFT BEHIND, THERE’S A LINE IN 5.04 (2014!VERSE) THAT SUPPORTS CAS’ FALL FROM GRACE
“They bailed and my mojo just kind of drained away”
6. WITH CAS WANTING TO GO ALL KAMIKAZE AND SHIT, I’M HOPING THAT DEAN (post-purgatory and all) WILL NOT GIVE CAS UP WITHOUT A FIGHT. SO CAS GIVING UP HIS GRACE TO BECOME HUMAN AND STAY WITH DEAN IS THEIR COMPROMISE
7. PLUS, I’M HOPING A MUSICAL EPISODE DIRECTED BY MISHA WILL INCLUDE CAS IN IT BECAUSE SINCE BEING HUMAN, CAS HAS BEEN BORED OUT OF HIS MIND SO HE WATCHES A LOT OF MUSICALS… AND THEN SOMEHOW THEY’RE IN ONE.

Why It Should Stay: You've seen Sam and Dean, yes? Case closed. They're the most hilarious pair on TV, they look good kicking demon butt and they have a healthy and endearing appreciation for pie.
Why It Should Go: The Winchesters have gone to hell and back. They've died. They've lost their souls. Although the show will be back for at least one more season, we don't know how much more punishment they can endure or how long we can realistically be invested in such over-the-top peril.
