R : Five years ago with the series Adini Feriha Koydum you were a young woman at the beginning of a road (career) . What changed?Many things changed in 5 years. The period of 20 to 26 is somewhat interesting. It was a time when I questioned myself , my life and my projects (work) too much. At this moment I am in a position that I am able to make radical decisions. That I want to become a chef for instance. The things I want to learn, what gives me pleasure, I divide my time between the things that interest me.
R : How did Maral enter your life?TV8 entered my life with a proposal to join in a project. Shortly before Maral started I met with Acun Ilicali. A new channel and a new esprit came to me.
R : And at the same time a risk...??Yes, it is a risk, but not a risk I cannot take. Next to me is a producer who thinks of me. Imagine this being very successful and I would not be in it! Then I would have big regrets. Above that until now from all the stories I saw and all the roles I played the character of Maral has the highest energie.
In your career your image is that of a good family girl. Does this frighten you?I am probably that type. I don't know. Maybe people like to see me in that role, I understand. I like that kind of character also but I would like to try some other things too.
R : .Everybody wants to hug you in the streets.Yes, and how! In social media also every of my projects gets huge excitement and support. That support extends to the characters (role) and sometimes becomes very funny or people get very annoyed (about what happens to the character). The way people want the best to happen to soft, pure Maral and throw every bad thing/person to the wall is sometimes very weird. Since I was 16 years old in work and life I learned at a young age how people this sweet can be also be somewhat harsh. .
R : Starting your career at an early age of course you can get tired of some things or even have regrets. Do you have regrets?I will not say it was a good thing I started early. Because we don't want to get fed up early. Macauley Culkin for instance! I understand why he is not playing anywhere anymore. The man is bored of standing in front of the camera. From a too young age too much attention, too much expectation... I think the most tiring part being the expectations. And later when everybody lost interest in you, you still expect people to be waiting for you.
R : Having started earlier in your career than your peers and friends you are also ahead in life experience...Yes, that is inevitable. You see the things you are not supposed to see. Psychologically hard things. I do not want to dramatize but it is a bit silly that when going to apprenticeship I am the one advising all my friends to be friendly with everyone and protect themselves. During the time in high school i felt like we were on a very secure road actually. Therefire still my best friends are the one I had from my high school period. In factI developed the idea I should not make new friends. I was thinking that making new friends might get me hurt. I am trying not to make this a big problem but I would therefore not advise someone to start a career this early.
R :In every reportage you gave your mother plays a role. What kind of mother is she?A very funny mother. I grew up to be like her having the same features, on the other side we are also looking out for eachother and we surely love eachother. There is a saying: You can have many friends but only one mother, but she was always more than that, she stayed when my friends weren't there. I have a very special relationship with my mother.
R : What is the biggest conflict you have with your mother?In general we always argue about the same things in different circumstances. How that came to happen I do not understand! And our discussions always end like this: "that is what I said" "well I said that too" "Okay that is also what I said" We are saying the same thing but express it in a different way.
R : After you finish school, you want to open a restaurant don´t you? Yes, I want to open a restaurant where turkish cuisine meet fusion.
R : In that case will you stop acting?No of course I won't stop. I will continue off and on.You want to become a chef. When will we be eating your food?It will happen soon but first I have to finish my school. Because of set I took a break from my education to become a professional cook in Mutfak Sanatlari Akademisi (Cooking Art Academy). I attended many classes being very sleepless and I was afraid of hurting someone. Gas, fire, knives, in the kitchen there is everything (dangers). I think I Very soon I will return. Because I am feeling sad to leave my education half finished. I literally cried my eyes out. (laughs)
R : How much of where you are now can be allocated to luck?I don't know. That I am lucky is true but I worked hard too. I would sell myself short if I would ignore that. I never stopped.
R : Do you have strong intuition?It is very strong. For instance when I have met someone, if I say "wait a minute" it is surely because something there is good or bad thing.
R: Well, come on, lets talk about love a bit.Hey, my most favorite subject!
R : Oh, we haven't even started yet. Talking about love is there anything you would like to start with?Of course there is. It is a beautiful thing (love) Beautiful in general, I mean.
R : "Is love only love if you die for it (passionate)" or if it is hidden and silent ?Where there is peace is a good place (for love), I think . Peace is a good thing. Not a place where there is tension.
R: According to you in a relation what is the biggest no no?No trust!
R : Is it possible to stay in a place where there is no trust?If there is a reason for this distrust it can of course.
R : Some weeks ago while Ali Atay was caught by reporters walking with a friend we read "Big blow to Hazal". Everything ok between Ali and you?Everything is ok. I am used to it now. Nothing important written or made known (to me) at that time. We do not care about what others think, we live by what we know to be true.
R: Is that the reason you went to live outside the center and do not visit the big malls anymore?Yes, because (then) I am not scared of misunderstandings. Normally walking around arm in arm with a boyfriend is not (considered) an abnormal thing but when reporters catch me they ask "Do you have a new sweetheart?" "Did you leave your present boyfriend? Headlines start from there.That is why I feel very uncomfortable in those surroundings. That is not the surroundings where I want to open up about my boyfriend or family. But they do not know (the difference) between explaining and not explaining, because nobody is obliged to understand (the truth) everything is related to what is written next to the picture. What is written beneath it can never be predicted. Because of that I try to stay away a bit. To stay away from the magazines is not a nice logic thing. I just do it not to create misunderstandings.
R : Ok we will leave it . Do you have any plans for the holiday?I an not planning anything but I love travelling. Before I started this series I packed my things to go to Saint Emillion. To become a good chef I have to learn about wines. I went to this wonderful village for seven days. This summer I would like to do another trip like this.
R : A good summer to you should include what?My friends from school (lise). Of course everybody works, so making time for eachother is hard but in my ideal summer there should be these friends. I would (also) want to see the sun and the sea, I think. A combination of that is enough.R : How would you define your style?I cannot define my style, because I do not have one. I will just wear what is comfortable. Comfortable (style)
R : What do you wear most?I do not want to lie. What comes in my hands and what feels comfortbale no matter what, I will wear it.
R : What would you never wear?Fishnet stockings. I hope it does not come in fashion and I will be forced to wear it. I swear I feel very uncomfortable in them.
